hi eds, is the messi story just bull {Ed001's Note - which Messi story are you referring to? Are you talking about 009s holiday romance tales?}

Was that the rumour with the dolphin Ed? {Ed001's Note - he told me it was a shark, but he probably said that to make himself sound hard.}

12 Nov 2011 23:05:28
Missing 002 already

Don't believe this going back to the U.S story. He's gone for a stint in The Priory to recover from the stress and strain of these pages. Lol.

So the question is how can we start getting Suarez to score 4 goals for us??? If he scores more than one in a game I think we have a good chance of winning.

Speedy

^^Stop him "falling over" 10 times in a game.

Suarez is too busy diving than scoring for Liverpool....he a cheeta!...Or he could be drunk when he plays for the ex-famous Liverpool, either way, he loves the falling down routine! The pained expression of agony is always an acting masterclass! He is funny, and embarrasing!

I see the mancs are out in force

Tel 1949

I really never though the mancs would have the audacity to be so hypocritical...

You underestimate us all the time.

Isn't a cheetah the fast living being on Earth? I think that Suarez has made a rod for his own back with going down easily (although his wife would disagree). Now every time he is fouled (as against West Brom) he is accused of diving. The problem is that he is undoubtedly the most exciting player in the Premier League at the moment and our rivals are too near-sighted to admit that. The best is yet to come.

ED01 who do you think is the best footballer in the world? {Ed001's Note - without a doubt it has to be Messi, he is a team player as well as a fantastic talent.}

I am not ed001
but the answer is Gerrard

Easily its Messi....he creates and scores

I think its Messi too.. but Ronaldo seems to change now, and is no longer selfish. His games right now are so different he knows when to pass, when to shoot. contributed alot to Higuains hatricks.

Harry Redknapp told he like to visit anfiled as he use to do it when jammy play here. I think they are ok with Liverpool. if we want people give us respect we should respect them too. Maccmanaman play 10 year for us and when he join Real we hate him why? just becouse he join free to Real. then Hate cole we bought him free. Kewel also come to us free. did we hate them ? NO we dont. the guy who service us 10 years cant hate him he is our hero.

Ok, let me put it in perspective for you. Macmanaman shafted us out of a transfer fee that Liverpool would receive for his move. He wouldn't sign a new contract and then sits out his contract to move on for nothing. And that's how you repay the club that has been loyally paying your wages for the last 10 years. We wouldn't hate players like Cole because he didn't shaft us out of a transfer fee and Chelski were happy to let him go and Kewell I think you'll find we paid a tranfer fee of 5 million and didn't come to us on a free.

I see your point mate but it's nothing to do with 'hating' former players. I loved watching McManaman throughout the 90's and still do (His solo goal against Celtic was phenomonal and sticks out for me). Harry Kewell was bought for around £5m on a £62,00 per week contract, which increased to to £76,500 2008. Joe Cole was on £90,000 per week there was ridiculous amounts of money being thrown around. Kewell and Cole just didn't work out at Liverpool.

Cuchulainn's Hounds.

If Maccmanamn sign contac did we let him join Real? if selary is a big issue then let me tell u macca get more then that with real. and the only english man have glory in europe plaing out side england. i am sad he go like that but we was in a band in europe and he want to play CL football. 10 years service must get respect. as see few guys here now want gerrard out. but gerrard do kick real, man u chelsea out as he want to sty in liverpool. what we pay him back by bully about his selary we pay him? {Ed001's Note - what are you talking about? We were not banned from Europe when Macca's greed got the better of him.}

Rafa is good not mean KK is bad . I accept Kenny is a good manager his record say that. but Rafa is a bit unfortunet he do say I make some error lets corect it. but he never been fully support by finance.

IS the 200m Rafa got not being supported?

Rafa got most of his money by selling.

Where do u found £200m ? did tom & jerry pay that much ? Rafa use sale to buy. and we still make money from rafa's sign his £25m pay u £50m . Reina can be £30m Lucas also been talk with psg £20m ?

12 Nov 2011 21:36:38
he is a good habit guy. and normaly good habit people play long time football. 2/3 years he will be best and next 2/3 going to be 60 minute footballer. but for me he is class we want class to make sure our top 4. another CL miss is not accepted as Liverpool have huge fan all over the world we hurt by other supporter comments. {Ed001's Note - erm, who?}

Yeah I agree that person whoever you are talking about will be great

He may well be a good habit guy, but there's no getting away from the fact that we need him to be a 90 minute guy rather than a 60 minute guy.
Who are we talking about, by the way?

Yeap, agreed

Kaizer

I AGREE 100% TOTALLY, and if I knew who you were talking about I would probably agree more

Leandro damiao if he came to england would probably join spurs? Spurs have an affiliation with internacional, which is where sandro came from, spurs have their youngsters come over to train at spurs lodge, leandro has been over a few times and trained as well as linking up with his best mate sandro, I'm led to believe he won't be coming over to england ?? Hey eds just wonderin if Toni Silva will get any first team action and also, I know this is ages ago but why did we sell Nemeth. I thought he was a good player {Ed001's Note - Silva would have probably got a shot on the bench by now, but for the fact that the fans have shown a recent tendency to jump on the back of anyone not having the game of their life. You only have to look at the stick Flanno got after one bad performance to see why we have to be careful with the kids. With this new NextGen tournament giving the youngsters European experience, there is not the desperation to blood them in the first team there usually is.}

I saw Flanno play a few times in pre season i was very impressed by him he's rappid and i think he could do a job in midfield too

What happened to Nemeth??

12 Nov 2011 21:34:42
Bit of quick psychology for you all. Encouraging someone when they give a bad performance gives you another bad performance. It's stupid to do this, I'm not saying we should criticise the team when they play badly but don't clap and celebrate.

Think of how teach kids or train animals. If you reward bad behaviour do they suddenly change and become good? nope you have to only celebrate when we are good. This is actual psychology.

Rewflo

I'm not saying your wrong. However, when away fans are out singing you, it becomes an away game for the home team. How do you think the players will react to that. Some reverse psychology for you to think about.

CB - vertonghen
RW - ganston ramirez
ST - abel hernandez

and a creative midfielder is not needed until gerrard goes which is why i think we havent moved for sissoko yet but i know its unlikely but i hope hamsik could fill that position when we do need to fill this position because we should have champions league by then. Any1 agree?

KopEndDannyLFC

Don't need a CB in Jan imo.I rate Skrtel and Coates wasn't bought for show. I just think we need a quality RW/RF like De Jong or perhaps Hoilett (yes I know he plays LM for BBR). Maybe Boudebouz? Would love A. Johnson.

12 Nov 2011 19:27:38
ed we need a right winger and a strlker do you have any players in mind for both positions thanks please post this {Ed001's Note - do I have any players in mind? I haven't seen a right winger that stands out for me to be honest, I mean Navas would be great but far too much of a risk. Up front I like Llorente and Higuain, but no chance of those.}

Jesus navas very quick. but a bit selfish dont know when keep the ball and when leave. and very much homesick guy that is disadvanteg. how about Honda ?

Jovetic can be a striker for us. make a bid Liverpool ,

12 Nov 2011 19:23:34
I like the pass & move and attacking football Dalglish has brought back to us. Not since Roy Evans have we had such real football. With more gametime and understanding of were each player positions and plays then the team will be exciting and good to watch.
I feel next season you'll see a greater attacking Liverpool team who will challenge all trophies and play with a confidence and unity that we once had. Experience will show through.
The back end of this season should see us fight for a top 4 position.
My two concerns are 1) defence and 2) fans.
Are defence is letting to many conceded goals whilst our fans are so quiet at games that arnt against the big 3.
If we want to challenge then our fans should show the world the intimidating Anfield at EVERY game.
That 12th man could be the difference between winning,losing or drawing.
Sometime our players need a kick on the backside and that's were our traditional fans used tomake the difference.

Defence is not the problem The midfield is not supporting the attackers.
aklfc

I think there's only 2 teams in the PL that have conceded less than us!

The Irish Rover

We are the third team from bottom in conceding goals (10). Only mancity(10) and newcastle(8) conceded equal and less goals respectively than us. Number of Clean sheets is 4 where the highest is 5 by manu.

When it comes to attack we stand 12 in goals scored with 14 goals highest is mancity with 39 and second is manu with 28 followed by chelsea, arsenal and tottenham. we stand 15 in goal conversion with 7% where again our rivals in same order top the charts with highest being 17% for mancity. while total shots is 194 where we stand second with only mancity above us with 225 shots.

So, clearly the problem lies with attcak, not the defense. This is where we are behind our main rivals. We need to improve our shooting with out any shadow of doubt. Defense has nothing to with our current problems.

These stats are taken from our own website. Just click on match>league table tab on menu.

Abhi.

Will there ever be a time when we will stop saying "Next season..." it's been a long time now. We either need to get some success or stop saying next season. we've been waiting for next season for a long long time now. I feel like im stuck in a time paradox

We are unfortunet the team miss Gerrard. a young dashing gerrard who up and help to attack and back to help defance too.

Well if the clubs can do their part in bringing the success of the 80s by using that same formular then it's the responsibility that the fans add their winning topping and use their incredible voice as a unit at every home game. Club + fans = winning success.
The clubs playing their part now the fans stand up and make every opposition scared to come to Anfield.
Our fans have the ability to bring back the magic

Mate I agree about the atmosphere outside of the top 3. I read an article about Joe Cole when he decided to join us. He went on to say one of the reasons he joined was because when we played chelsea in the champions league, the rumble from the fans sent fear to the players. The away dressing room isn't sound proof and the players hear the rumbling from the crowed. Every home game should be like a champions league final, because like you say the 12th man can bring the belief.
TIZER RED

Defence is fine. Need more pace and creativity going fwd and to hit the back of the net.

I agree the football has been great its just our defence and funnily enough attack that has been poor. Our attack as in finishing chances. Our creativity has been ok and we have created but finishing is awful. But if our defence was sound we could win games 1 nil.......

Speedy

The problem has to be in finishing. Think about it, if we had beaten, Man Utd, Norwich and Swansea we would be 3rd and everyone would be reasoanbly happy and talking of the title again! We create enough but need to put them away. Are we not top of "hitting the woodwork" league?

Ed001 if possible could I have your opinion on ganston ramirez and do you think he would solve the rw position cutting in with his left, also do you think that kk would have a left footer on the lw and a left footer on rw to cut inside. Thanks

KopEndDannyLFC {Ed001's Note - personally I have not seen enough to judge him properly, what I have seen has impressed me though. I have not seen much better for the right wing this season. I think Kenny will choose his wingers depending on the opposition, sometimes right on the right, sometimes left on the right.}

Marco Reus for RM, buy him now, will be worth 40m in 2 years.

Hi Ed's been a long time follower of this site. Appreciate what you guys do, taking all the complaints and sometimes abuse. Some of the Ed's responses to the abuse or just simply ridiculous suggestions/questions are just pure genius, in particular Ed 2.

Although I have been victim of thinking after a bad result I would of played things different, common sense prevails almost instantaneous and lets me know I am not living in "Football Manger world" but in the real world where the coaches and managers are just that and are more qualified, experienced than myself and in Kenny Danglish's case hold the club closer to their hearts than the majority of these senseless fans.

I have seen some of the Ed's mention that the players confidence is low, which is evident in a few players e.g Carroll, Henderson & Downing. Anybody who has played football, whether it was semi pro, or at grass root level on a Sunday will know that feeling loved and having and knowing that the fans etc are with you no matter what does a lot to the players performance. I know first hand from my football days.

My question is to the Ed's do players such as Carroll, Henderson & Downing read football forums such as these to get the fans opinions? if so some fans should be ashamed of themselves. if they are reading the comments on this site, no matter what money they are on as footballers it does not make them less of a human. {Ed001's Note - yes, lots of the players do look at the forums and Twitter etc, I am sure they wished they didn't at times though!}

Hi Eds.Do you have any info on when a definate decision will be taken on redeveloping Anfield or moving to a new stadium? watching the england game and johnsons defending 1 on 1 has improved massively. so much better then last couple of seasons. his positioning still needs improving he has kept spain onside alot even when the assistant gives it offside.

GMN

I think this is because of the competition for RB at the club. England's first choice RB competing against not 1 but 2 England under 21 international RB's.

He had a wonderful game. Looks to be over his hamstring problems and back to his best.

Not Liverpool related, but I'm beginning to think that FIFA committee meetings consist of sepp blatter and michel platini filling their gobs with marshmallows and try to say "I love fluffy bunnies" and see who gets the most laughs from the rest of the lads. Really, that must be the level of common sense FIFA has in total.

Cuchulainn's Hounds

I call him 'septic bladder".
A huge irritation of a man, arrogant and manipulative.
Manipulated and coerced the South African Government (who are equally idiotic and manipulating, not to mention damn greedy) to spend billions on unsustainable stadiums for the WC, stadiums sit empty and unused, while poor taxpayer foots the bill. This lavish expense in a country that needs housing for its people.
Yes, I am South African, and everyday I drive past Cape Town stadium (cost R4.4billion rand), and it sits there like a large fluffy marshmallow"White Elephant". It irks me no end.

It seems to me that a few people on here will never be happy unless we win every game playing amazing football.

I've been coming on this site every day for a few years now,and I'm totally addicted. People giving the EDS grief have no respect for the hard work the EDS put in to this site and that's just the stuff we get to see.

Last season under Roy, all I read was "I'd rather us loose, trying to win, then to play to not loose" we're playing some good football and creating many chances. It's only a matter of time before we start scoring goals.

Get behind the team lads, they might play better.

YNWA
TIZER RED

PS Keep up the good work EDS and thanks for this site. {Ed001's Note - cheers mate, it can be hard work at times but mostly it is great.}

Well said pal, people forget the bad days, although they were not so long ago. Of course we would love to be further up the table but like you said, we are playing good football and it will only be a matter of time before we click properly.
On another note, people are always saying that they want committed players not just players interested in wages, I think Hendo has proved in all his interviews that he has the passion, comitment and desire to be a success so lay off the lad for a while hey. He will come good as soon as he stops trying to hard and does what comes natural.
Just remember how long it took rish to get going, and boy did he get going.
Anyway, good luck to the boys tonight, see Spain have put out a team to make anyone envious.
Rushes tash.

Completely agree, if fans started to show the players some support that in it self will bring a lot of confidence to the players. I think we should get some songs going and show the players they have our support.

Glen Johnson's playing well so far, but apparently he can't defend lol

Come on England..win it to help our troops moral.

Eds, using your knowledge of players and powers of sarcasm who do you think we should go for in Jan out of the players who are actually available for transfer and would be an improvement to our squad/first team.

I Personally feel the athleticism of the team needs improving, some power behind the pass and move, maybe M'villa or in a similar mold? What do you think eds?

Loafmaster Flex {Ed001's Note - I agree M'Vila would be a good fit, I like Honda myself, I also think Moussa Sissoko and Luuk De Jong look good signings. But I think we need someone for the right wing most of all, I can't think of any right wingers that have really stood out for me though. Any suggestions?}

Bellamy left, Downing right! Buy Gaston Ramierz as he can play anywhere in attack left, right behind striker and appears even more skillful than Suarez albeit not quite as incredible. He would fit the number 10 shirt well indeed.

I like the look of affelay but he is injured for pretty much the whole season.By the way ed if we were to sign luuk de jong do you think we would force him to play rm like we did the kuyt? or there up front suarez,carroll and him all up.cheers

Danny {Ed001's Note - I think he is intended to be a striker, one who can play target man or off a target man, wide striker or even as a winger in need, but primarily as a striker.}

Wherever he plays its good that he has that much versatility.

Danny {Ed001's Note - especially with the limits on the squad size, you do need some versatile players if you are going to win trophies.}

When it comes to wingers I've always thought you should have 1 who's good at taking on a player and one who's a good crosser if played in a 442. With Downing a crosser then maybe along the lines of Wijnaldum who can play wing/centre? keeps in line of this multi-role players we seem to be targeting. What you thing ed?

Loafmaster Flex {Ed001's Note - we have looked at him in the past, I believe we have continued to keep tabs on him but I don't know of any move being made to sign him.}

True that. For the price quoted 12.65 million if I recall correctly would be a good price.I would pay up to 15 million for him definitely worth a punt.Would also love moussa sissoko and eventhough it will not happen mascherano back or someone like him.I think we need some bite in the midfield as lucas is really only are defensive midfielder.I think next season we will have a really good team with a couple more signings.

Danny

Yeah that little bit of bite and power is something we miss, almost a vieira type player for when we need to play two holding midfielders with lucas being the box to box type

Loafmaster Flex

Marco Reus Ed001. Best RM out there. Watched every Moen Glad game since begin of last season. Wonderful player. Better than Marin (although Marin plays left). We should really try for him. {Ed001's Note - I haven't seen him play, heard loads about him, but I prefer to watch them myself before I suggest them. Often you hear loads about a player (Bale), then you see them play and they are actually crap.}

Been looking at right wingers cum strikers, im assuming thomas muller would be pretty much impossible eds? What about Jefferson Farfan? Any thoughts?

Loafmaster Flex {Ed001's Note - Muller is highly unlikely, unfortunately, Farfan would be possible to get, but I am not sure he is someone who is good enough.}

Hai, es seems like there is a long discusiion regarding the RW position and candidates that could be likely to fill the position.

My question is whether the club has identified any player and is interested or ready to move this jan or next summer. I know we are interested in dejong, but he is more striker than a winger. Do u know any player other than him for tha position if LFC are interested in.
Thanks

Abhi. {Ed001's Note - I feel like I am just repeating myself over and over, it is still too early to be sure, there has been no discernible solid interest in a right winger as of now.}

12 Nov 2011 16:10:49
Right, looking at our performances and squad, we seem to control and attck in all games but lack the goals to win them. When Suarez is not firing we tend to find it difficult to score. Bellamy cans core as can Kuyt, but with both being deployed in wide positions they are not being used effectively.
Downing owns LW and should play whenever fit, for me, Henderson plays best down the RW, I believe Kuyt and Bellamy should be used in their natural positions, as Strikers, and only used out wide when needed.
Everyone is saying we need another top goalscorer, Villa's name is around a lot at the minute, and I do agree, but believe we should wait until the summer and use the strikers we have to push for 4th.

Henderson plays best down RW? What's games u watching. He is much better in CM. Molby knows his stuff.

I would like to thank all the Eds for their hard work and enthusiasm.
I truly enjoy the diverse viewpoints of the ED's, their objectivity and passion in providing the Reds with informative analysis and realistic perspectives.
Might I ask how many EDs there are, and generally what are the average ages (I would assume all are seasoned!).
Its nice to know from whence the ED's views originate.
Thank you again, best regards and god bless.
Shanly's Red Army. {Ed001's Note - I am not actually sure how many of us there are to be honest, it is difficult to keep track. There are roundabout 20 or so in total, not all have access to Liverpool though. The ages vary massively, from the 'older' generation to those of us in their 30s and some are even younger, I think the youngest is 17. I have deliberately tried to get a spread so that we can offer different viewpoints. Believe me we all have very different viewpoints at times, the discussions on our editors widget can get heated at times!}

For all those saying we are missing a proven goal scorer, did anyone see Bellamy's finish? He's proven for numerous clubs that he can put the ball in the net. I know KK has possibly had issues with whether he can put a solid 90 minutes in but this bloke is quality and I think he deserves a run in the team after his subs appearances for us and so far his first half for Wales. Play him in starting 11 until end of December and see if we are still crying out for a proven finisher. between Kelly, Suarez and Bellamy, Liverpool players have scored six goals this weekend.
I used to play in the same team as Craig when I was younger, a team called Caer Castell. He was good then. There was one player better than him though, a lad called Leon Jeanne. This boy was absolutely magic, I read in the papers years ago he had problems with drugs whilst at Arsenal youth and QPR, such a shame because, I know a lot of you won't believe this, but he could have been on par with the messi's and ronaldo's he was that good. Don't suppose any of the Eds know what happened to him? I moved away from Cardiff when I was 14 and didn't really keep contact with many people. Leon would have been sensational though.
Anyway, nostalgia over, KK, give Bellamy a chance over next couple of months and then we will know in January what we truly need.

WelshScouse {Ed001's Note - I don't know the name even, but I will ask a mate of mine who was at school with Bellamy if he knows him.}

Cheers Ed, his surname is pronounced Jan, he was amazing. Would be interested to know which of your mates went to Rumney High, I went to St. Illtyds which was right next door, always trouble between the 2 schools. But this boy would have been amazing

WelshScouse {Ed001's Note - I would guarantee he would have been right in the middle of the trouble knowing him!}

Bellamy's goal for Cardiff v Swansea was an absolute gem too.

Cuchulainn's Hounds

Leon played semi pro football in the welsh league after being kicked out of numerous clubs for cocaine abuse. He then finished his career a few years back after being caught selling cocaine and was sent to prison. As for everything you say about his talent i can back you 100%. The boy had the world at his feet. Bellamy would n't or could n't lace his boots. Just goes to show that talent is not everything. You got to have the right temperament and desire to succeed.

Not really. Capello doesn't have a clue. Lamfat is his captain today. Jones in midfield. Jones proved against us he didnt have the ability to play in midfield. Gabby isn't a better striker than AC just a diffrenent type of player. Just watch the game today and you will see more of KK's style of play from Spain than from Capellos England. Stop worrying about the English national team, as our next international game is tuesday as everybody knows that Liverpool is the real capital of Ireland. G'wan Trap.

One of my mates told me that Matthew spends most of his time on Omegle!

Watching Welbeck try hold a ball up tonight was laughable. Sturridge is even better than him but didn't come on. Obv playing for ManU helps I see. Jones as a CM all of a sudden... Was Capello trying it for Fergie's sake?

For the people who calling for Kenny's head, who could be next in line for Liverpool Job. I don't think any candidate who could be ideal for Liverpool at the moment?
By the way, who is your choice for Manager position?

Frank Rijkaard.

Unai Emery for me . His Star player left him but still doing well with Valencia.

I think Kenny has done a fantastic job since returning to the club, between steadying the ship and making the way we play our football more attractive and like the Liverpool of old. Something I've also noticed is the number of midfield players Kenny has just as his last squad in 1990 and I wouldn't rule out seeing another midfielder coming in January. We are missing that Ian Rush figure and Downing is yet to display the prowess that Barnes showed, while Luis Suarez is as valuable as Beardsley was for us. YNWA

Hi there

I think in all ends of the play (except putting the ball in the net) were acctually quite good this year. think it was second best in creating chances according to The Telegraph.

soo. what were missing is a goal scoorer. a man that clinicly puts the ball into the net. a man that needs only 1 chance to score and decide a match.

Man U now has Hernandez. City Ballotelli etc. we have.. sorry we dont have Suarez. he needs to many!

So who do(moderators) suggest we buy?

According to all stats. the most clinical in European football these days its Mohammed "Moa" Abdellaoue that needs least chances to scoore and thats in Hannover not the biggest of clubs.

what do you suggest mods+ {Ed001's Note - I would love Llorente or Higuain myself, neither are likely though. Luuk De Jong does seem worth a punt though.}

Have to agree Ed, I think Llorente is more realistic than Higuain but not much. Would love Llorente, but I would gladly have Barrios do you think he's a possible?

Chris in Tamworth {Ed001's Note - I haven't seen much of him to be honest, I would think he is more likely to be available.}

I would have luuk de jong even if he isn't the clinical fisher we need.He will get his share of goals thats for sure.Wish wl would have got daniel sturridge though when we sold torres.That lad is class

Danny

Andy Carroll is our clinical cf. Give him some time, he is getting there.

Sure. but we cant cope with only 3 strikers as we are right now!

Sorry Ed, i know it's not really liverpool related, but have you heard any news about Harry Redknapp? A lot of people are saying he could resign..

Thanks

Stu. {Ed001's Note - I haven't sorry. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he did resign on health grounds and take the England job instead.}

Me neither. People are also saying it could be to do with the court case coming up.

Stu. {Ed001's Note - I do feel that his resignation will be more of a result of that than anything else. I just see him resigning because he is told to go rather than chooses to go.}

He also has a court case coming up against the Hmrc. It might be more than he can take, given what he has just been thru.

In my opinion a few players we definetly need are :
Edinson Cavani - He is scoring goals for fun in Serie A and with the Suarez link i think a 25-30million deal could be on the cards in January / June

Christian Eriksen / Lucas - Eriksen is a class act no doubt about it but with the Agger and the Suarez link maybe he might be our new playmaker. Lucas would be my back-up if the Eriksen deal dosnt go through but he is also looking like an outstanding player.

Xherdan Shaqiri - I know alot of people say Liverpool dont stand a chance in signing this boy but we have been interested in him for a while and i think him on the right wing would be fantastic

These players would take us back to the glory day come on title number 19

In KK we trust
YNWA

Agger and Suarez link? Agger the CB? Linking with Suarez? Our striker?

Can you elaborate please..

He means agger is Danish like eriksen and Suarez used to play for Ajax

He means Ageer the Danish captain could influence Erikson to come and suarez was the Ajax captain so he must of helped Erikson at his time there.

Flanno should go on loan to another EPL side in Jan - Bolton perhaps as they have 2 right backs out injured.

KK has difficult choices to make in January, but I hope we try to sign: Luuk De Jong (chance) and Gaston Ramírez (more difficult). They would add hunger, desire and quality to the squad. But they would also be our future as they are around the same cycle age of these players (ex Reina):

--------------Reina (29)-----------

Flanno(18)-Kelly(21)-Coates(19)-Robo(18)

------Henderson(21)-Lucas(24)----

De Jong(21)--Suarez(24)--Ramirez (20)

-------------Carroll(22)--------------

Plus in mid twenties we have Enrique (25), Adam (25), Agger (26), Skrtel (26), Downing (27). Johnson (27).

Question for the Eds or anyone who has an opinion. Why is it the Suarez is so much more lethal in front of goal for his country than he is for us? I have no statistics for it, but I'm pretty sure his chance conversion rate is higher for his country than it is for us. Is it our style of play, pressure, strike partner, the weather, still getting used to another league, standard of opposing keepers? What is it that makes him more prolific for Uruguay even though the performances are similar? Interested to hear people's opinions.

Ash {Ed001's Note - probably a lot to do with him, you have seen just how much playing for his country means to him. I just don't think Liverpool is in his heart in the same way just yet.}

Ed i think ur chattin absolute nonsense, the most consistent, the best player we have and has proved it time and time again in a liverpool shirt is luis suarez, he puts in 110% and will only get better with confidence. Without him liverpool are absolute average, perhaps its andy carroll that hasn't got liverpool in his heart, include downing and henderson in that too, or maybe they really aren't top 4 players. RedTurk {Ed001's Note - grow up! I never said he wasn't the best player at the club, or suggested it in the slightest. Stop being a knob who lies in wait for any excuse to have a moan at me because you were proven completely wrong in the summer. Suarez plays at 100% effort for us, yes, but for Uruguay it is different, it is 130%. Now stop whining about players that you have no idea about, it is knobs like you on the back of young players that is causing them to have their heads down and lose confidence. Get off their backs and show some support.}

I think it's the orange boots, whenever he has those on he scores :)

HK

Agree with Ed001

Playing for a team you love and would go all out to ensure a win, a team you would fight for every single of of the people to help them out is massively different to a club you like,

I know this from Club vs County underage GAA, for the club I could give insane efforts in close matchs, county less so

Ya orange boots

How can you say Henderson and downing don't have there heart in the right place.Henderson is probably the most hard working player we have got.The lad practices more than any other player in are team.so i think that shows his commitment to the club.A downing is a liverpool fan.He has no lack of commitment he is just out of form at the moment.Your a disgrace to even suggest this.

Danny

Probably the fact that his Uraguay players have played together alot more than the current liverpool side have together. Communication is another factor and the fact that they won a cup together and probably trust in each others abilities aot more and know each others runs etc

Again ed you are wrong, he puts the same amount of effort in mate, i think you need to question the quality of the players around him in the liverpool team compared to the quality around him in the uruguay team, dont you think? there is no way you can compare his effort, but try comparing his teammates hes playing with. RedTurk {Ed001's Note - no, in your opinion I am wrong, but that is all it is. As your opinion is so anti-Liverpool, I will take it with a pinch of salt, as you are clearly biased against our players. With 'supporters' like you, our young players have no chance.}

How about im honest about our players in the first team? our younger players in the academy can be far better players, for instance toni silva can do a better job then, henderson or kuyt on the right, suso could do a job in the middle if given a chance, sterling can do a better job then downing on the left right now, Also i believe adam morgan could score more goals for us then andy carroll if given a chance.RedTurk {Ed001's Note - right and you know better than the coaching staff at the club who watch these players in training every day? Get a grip.}

Thats how it should be...I think your country should mean more but that doesn't mean he doesnt try for us

GuvTOB

All our players look they giving 110% every game. Maybe not all fully coming together yet but they grafting. U looking to make drama again redturk.

A decent manager and bloke,it seems.
He wasted some money but the best managers have all done that. His downfall was due to Gillett and Hicks failure to back him, more than anything else.

I think Benitez donated £9,600 to the Hillsborough Family Support Group as well, that speaks volumes.

Cuchulainn's Hounds

A great man he was, and for a while a great manager but I believe it was the right time for him to move on and we shouldn't go back to him. Someone younger to come in after Kenny, my preference would be someone like Carragher in all honesty but what about Steve Clark? Just a thought anyway.

RAFA is a genuinely decent man. He will always be a legend at LFC and is still a world class tactician who could help Kenny. Ditto. I was sat next to Kaiser Hamman at a dinner recently
and he rates Rafa very highly, claiming he was tactically very good. I honestly thank that while Kenny is the man manager that perhaps Rafa isn't, it could also be said that Kenny isn't at Rafa's level tactically. I expect a barage of abuse for saying this. Just my opinion that was reinforced by a top ex red. L19red

But Hamman never played for KK, so you can not compare. Further Hamman played for Rafa for a short period. A lot of what Rafa achieved in 2005was due to the hard work put in by Houllier.

Fair point. He wasn't comparing him to Kenny though, that was just my observation. The comment came in response to the question "how did you rate Rafa?" not Rafa vs KK.
It is also fair to say that he wasn't around for the last season or so under Rafa when we went down hill. L19red

Houllier did play a part but Garcia, Alonso and tactics implemented by Rafa helped us with the CL victory.

Apparently Seb Leto is tearing it up in Greek league. Do you know if Is it true that we have a 40% sell on clause?

red snake {Ed001's Note - it is hard to be 100% sure, but I do believe it is true that we have a sell on clause. That is certainly the information I have been given, unfortunately clubs are very secretive about these things. It is about time all transfers were done openly and the contracts, and all the clauses, were available to the public. Maybe players wouldn't be quite so greedy if the general public understood exactly how grasping they are.}

Cheers Ed, totally agree with you! Hopefully he is sold

Just a question. I have supported the club and players for the whole of my life. BUT there are some ex players that disappoint in what they do and say about the club after they have left. My personal dislike ( and I loved him when he was a player for us and CAPTAIN) is Jamie Redknapp. I think he shows distinct disrespect for the club and what we the fans did for him. Still, McManaman, Fowler Redknapp...that was magic.

Any others worse than Jamie?

Iggypop

I don't think he does that tbh- or not that I've seen.
He's always shown affection and respect for the club and the town every time I've seen him asked about it.
He was even on TV show a few years ago, where he nominated the view of the Liverpool waterfront from out in the river, as one of the beautiful and striking sights he'd seen.

I can't agree with that, Iggy. I believe Jamie Redknapp has a lot of time for the club and is respectful. If he's critical, then it shows he cares and we're certainly not above crticism, at times.
I think he's a great pundit; knowledgeable and passionate about the game.

Thans for tne views guys. Still not sure about him myself but we all have opinions. Still think he is overly negative about LFC.

Iggypop

I remember a mate telling me back in 2007 before we beat Barcelona 2-1 at the Nou Camp that he watched Redknapp and Merson nearly come to blows on TV when Redknapp stated we could beat Barcelona. Merson laughed at him and it became heated. Didn't see it myself, but it shows that he does have a lot of love for Liverpool.

Suso is going to be 18 on Nov. 19 I dont know why he not getting a chance ? he is a very good ball player and cross look very good.

Mate, how do you expect a youngling to get a chance with our fanbase ready to tare anyone apart? Just look at how Henderson and Carrol are slammed, and how Flannagan was blamed for his mistake against Sunderland, and how Spearing is always deemed "not good enough for our illosrous club, pls buy Sissoko!" Suso is still miles away from these players - imagine what the reaction would be if he is rushed into the side and puts in a dismal performance!

Drigan

If you dare like that with Owen and Gerrard then world may today not seen one of the best finisher and best midfielder of the world

Playing with reserve and once in young team will not help any player to grow up. 10/15 minute with 1st team to gain some experiance will help.

The thing is a portion of the Fan base of our great club has been extremely negative on a great number of our younger players, thus damaging their confidence a lot, those things affect young players a lot

Ska-oop

They might have been negative but lucas survived 3 yearsof being the most disliked player at liverpool, and is now a better player for it. Mental toughness is built this way. Also people wont be as harsh on our youngsters because they didn't cost 35m

imagine this team with just 1 new player

----------Reina---------------
Johnson--Coates--Agger--Enrique
-----Lucas---Henderson----
-Gerrard--Suarez---Downing
---------Cavani------------

2nd Team with 2 new players

----------Doni---------------
Kelly--Carra--Skrtel--Robinson
-----Spearing---Adam----
-Kuyt----De jong----Hoillett
---------Carroll------------

Reserves

Gulasic
Flano.Sama.Wisdom.Aurelio
Silva.Coady.Shelvey.Stearling
Morgan.Ngoo

We would have strength in depth, like for like replacements and depending on how quick the youngsters develope we could have a real good team.

Falano in reserve why ? he have 1/2 Bad match in this season and been drop from 1st team to reserve ? he is a young Man need time to grow up and the only way learn more is play more. he did very well when we play city last year. hope he play a part in city's match

Flanno got battered by Downing last season, then had a poor game against Sunderland. It proved he was a little to young yet, great prospect, but I don't see RB being his position in the future.....lacks a yard of pace I thought.

Jatt YNWA

I see nothing wrong with him, its just that Kelly and Johnson are better. I would personally swap Johnson to the second team though. Kelly is a far superior right back, one of the best at the minute. Positionally better than most including Kyle Walker who I believe is severely over rated.

Jatt im sure people used to say that about carragher. He has always been slow. Don't need pace to defend, just need to be able to read the game well.

Good evening Eds.
I am a Reds fan from South Africa, and have only been to Anfield 6 times.
Might I ask (this is out of pure interest), if Anfield was upgraded to meet code what will need to be done, and where would the extra 15-20k seats be added. I would also assume that additional corporate boxes would need to be considered.
I must be honest, its nice to dream of a "bright and shiny" new stadium, but finacially that would mean massive funding and loans, and who really wants LFC to sit with huge debts.
The other issue is, is a massive stadium really a necessity, surely 60-65k is sufficient.
Even Barca with their massive stadium of 98-101k don't fill it, read somewhere they average 75k or so.
Regards Food for thought. {Ed001's Note - I am sorry mate, I am not an architect, nor do I have any knowledge of the requirements to bring it up to code. I do know the main problem is the access to area, which is restricting the maximum size of any stadium. As for 60-65k being enough, that is not true at all, it needs to be much bigger, Barca's gates are irrelevant. Spain is in a much worse economic position than the UK, while Barca are a very popular destination for daytrippers to watch football, they don't have anything like the kind of numbers Liverpool get. There is a massive need for many thousands of cheaper tickets, to allow people to take their kids along and to afford to go every week.}

Hi Ed01. Thank you for your thoughts and input/information.
It really is a catch 22 situation is it not.
New stadium capacity of 70-75k, but massive debt over many years, even with naming rights sponsorship.
Redevelopment of Anfield, capacity of 65k, more financially manageable, but problems with planning etc.
My concern is that a redeveloped stadium is not as attractive to sponsorship partners as a new one would be.
But a new stadium is more attractive to market, and would attract other additional sponsors.
It certainly is a tough decision to make, and I am sure there are numerous financial feasability and business models being considered.
As mentioned, Barca ave 80% attendance, Dortmund around 98-99%, and Man u much the same as Dortmund, Real Madrid around 85%.
But the Spanish teams have tha additional TV revenues to assist, yet both as mentioned by the Barca president are under pressure financially.
I think LFC average attendance for 2010/11 was 42500, so around 92% of capacity.
Have a good day, thanks again, regards Food for thought. {Ed001's Note - you are forgetting that an increase in capacity, to the currently allowed maximum, would bring a revenue increase to fund the later expansions to an even bigger capacity. It also gives us time to work on the infrastructure surrounding the ground and improving it up to a level that allows for a much bigger capacity.}

I think Macca mentioned that the Anny Road End and Main Stand may be re-developed.
After that, you'd be talking major major works, cos both the Kop and Centenary (Kemlyn Road to me) are large stands as it is.
If the Kop was enlarged, it would surely have to bridge over Walton Breck Road ?
What about the boozers there, nearly as famous as the ground itself ?
The Real KB {Ed001's Note - there are always ways round it, maybe incorporate them into the ground itself?}

Possibly ed.
I don't know if the landlords own the freeholds though. Dunno how that would work if they do.
Or they could be re-located further down the road.
I'd say the pub owners would surely be LFC friendly.
The Real KB {Ed001's Note - it would make sense for them to agree some kind of deal that involves rent free locations surely? They make most of their money on match days anyway, incorporating the pubs into the ground itself could also get them tourist revenue I would think.}

Cracking idea Ed.
They'd need some tasty bouncers on the door like.
The Real KB {Ed001's Note - by tasty are you referring to hot women? If so I agree!}

Hi ED01 and The Real KB, thanks so much for the info and insight. I was trying to remember the roads and developments around Anfield (only walked around the stadium itself once), as mentioned only been there 6 times and last was a good few years back.
Thanks again, regards Food for thought.

hi eds,
My point of discussion is that after having worked so hard for the signings this summer and also spending so much, and we are very near of getting the results as we just need a finisher(i respect kenny a lot as he has put together a fantastic team), dont u think we should back it up with one or two major and key signings this jan to get on with the club revival.
this is what the club needs for now. Is the club thinking about it? are we thinking for some key aspects this jan? if yes then what are those?

Correction to my earlier post, Nou Camp average attendance is just over 80k for a stadium with a capacity of 100k so that's 80%. Dortmund average 79k plus, which is 1k short of capacity.
So is bigger really better.
Food for thought.

Yes bigger is better, but we have to be realistic.

YNWA JFT96 {Ed001's Note - Dortmund do not get any of the kind of football tourists Liverpool get, Barca is in a country on the verge of economic collapse. Its a small world after all. lol

Gary Neville - the former Manchester United star who once said he "can't stand Liverpool" - turns out to be part-scouser himself.

The former Manchester United & England defender Gary Neville, now a TV pundit, has long been a pantomime villain to Liverpool fans, winding them up with his on-pitch antics and they in turn lambasting him from the stands.

Yet he discovered that he has family ties to Merseyside when appearing on a Sky TV game show, A League of Their Own, broadcast on Friday evening.

The programme's researchers investigated Neville's family history for the programme, discovering that two of his great, great, great grandparents were from Liverpool.

It turns out that the best footballers do come from liverpool roots.

But he wasn't even that good, his looks stopped people not his tackling.
huddz red

I would not call neville good, let alone best

Gary Neville was a good footballers. He played at the higest level won the prem and has a champions league medial. played for england

Many people underestimated how well he set the pace/tempo for mu attacking play. SAF kept him at the club for a reason/mentally strong.

I liked him because he also comes from my era of football. The 90's when the premiership just took off. He was a character of the game like Beckham, scholes, Mcmanan, Rednapp, Folwer. I liked Roy Evans period of football.

the football since has been poor at best and the player seem to cost more and are more international. maybe premiership is more of a world footballing league. No longer a english league. I just don't feel like i relate to a guy from mexico that makes 5million a year. I could relate to neville, schole, beckham, mcmanaman, lampard, joe cole, rednapp.

Use think any school kid in england could make it to the premiership. Now i don't really think my childern will have chance to play for liverpool.

things have changed so much. Their are no more YTS boys. Now clubs pay millions for 14 year old from Mexico, Africa, or somewhere else.

To find that out is insulting to Scousers [and LFC fans further abroad]
