Andros townsend is a perfect example of keepin faith in a young lad and a young lad waiting patiently for his chance!

He has been on loan to about 5 clubs and finally at 22 yeara of age he's found his feet at spurs and he's been in trouble off the pitch but again club kept faith in him and helped him!
I applaud the spurs for this even though I don't like them much lol

We have young raheem sterling who at this moment of time is getting questioned even by guillem ballague lol

Fact of the matter is he's 18 he's a kid he will make mistakes!
Hes been played out of position and has had a couple of average games not bad games average games because of what he did last season people expect soo much of him

He needs support and guidence which I think rodgers and Liverpool will giv him and if he develops I think in my opinion he can be v special

He has pace
He has work rate
He can beat his man

Needs to improve on his crossing
Needs to bulk up
NEEDS GAME TIME IN A WIDE POSITION (loan)

Hi Eds, Ed 001 this is for you: I remember during Rafa's time at the club we had a promising young midfielder called Damien Plessis. What happened to him? Did he realise his potential or not? {Ed002's Note - Ed01 is having some cosmetic surgery and won't be around for a few days. Nothing has been eventful in his career so far - he is on the edge of the Arles team right now. An equivalent here might be Luton or Bournemouth.}

Following on from the post about how to get more English players into the 1st teams.

How much influence to Liverpool and Everton have on the junior leagues? Or is it a case they only send scouts and pick up the best players?

We all go on about how English players lack the technical ability of our European counterparts.

I played football pretty much non stop from 10-26 years old through various junior teams and saturday teams, granted not at a very high level but how can we be expected to produce technically gifted players when the limiting factor is the quality of the pitches.

If you seen the state of most of the pitches, it impossible to play technically good football. A 10 yard pass along the ground could end up anywhere most are that bad.

This is where the likes of Liverpool, Everton and the FA need to be investing in well run clubs to give them facilities to produce technically good players eg good pitches.

Great suggestion aces up but let's not hold our breath hey. Probably cost a club very little in the grand scheme of things and would pay for itself many times over with just one reasonable find.

Agree0 Disagree0

No I wont, The panel picked by the FA is a bit of a joke, their is nothing from the grass routes of the game telling the top what they need to make good players.

We have a what appears what a well set up club by mine, You probably know it being local where Gerrard played as a kid. These pictures are better than most . I quite often take the dog for a walk to watch some of the games, even these pitches are not a standard where "football" can be played along the ground.

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you think they have good pitches in Brazil?

Whilst you have a point, I think the main problem is in the coaching or lack there of. Junior football shouldn't be played on full sized pitches (which it often is) as that just promotes the abilities of the biggest and strongest kids at that age and not necessarily the most technically gifted. I'd like to see more 6 or 7 a side leagues playing on half a pitch. That would encourage those kids with a better first touch and better technique.

Pitch Size has already changed and new guidance is already in place.

No they probably don't have good grass pitches, its just a guess but they probably play on concrete type pitch as kids, you see a lot of them in southern Europe.

The kick and rush just does not work as the ball just bounces to much and runs away from you. Technical ability still works. It probably also one of the reasons you don't get many blood and thunder type tacklers as they don't get a chance as kids.

Was driving back home (living in Spain now) from Barcelona, and was in the services when the Barca B team all piled in. I happened to be wearing my Liverpool shirt with Suarez on the back which got a couple of them talking to me. After a bit of piss taking from them, I asked them what they thought of Alberto, and they all said he was a great player and sad to see him go elsewhere, and that they think he could be a very good player.

Not the most amazing bit of gossip, but on a slow news day like today, just thought I would share it. They also said that they hope that Madrid don't get Suarez!

Read comments made by Aspas! I think he is really unlucky. With Sturridge and Suarez scoring for fun. How ever he needs to work hard especially with the physical side of his game. Need to bulk up, be strong. He seems too fragile even compared to likes of Sterling. If he can improve that side of his game he can get into this team for sure. He has talent.

And noticed that BR played him in the Coutinho role when Cou got injured. I think RW/upfront would be much more suited.
I just hope Aspas makes it here and don't turn out to be this seasons Borini.

Speaking of Borini, with countryman Di Canio gone it isn't quiet bright for him at Sunderland. IMO we should cut our loses and sell him.

Another player that concerns me is Luis Alberto. Sure he has bags of potential. But the question is do we really need him. There are better players for much needed positions in the team that we need, For 6.5M on ALberto. I am not quiet happy abt it. I think we could have invested that much better.
We have Coutinho, Gerrard, Allen even Suarez who can play that role. Besides we have youngsters of ALberto's age like Suso, Texeira, Adjoran who can play in that position. Nothing against the lad, I support him but he was not what really the team needed.

Instead of 6.5 m on ALberto should have went for a DM. There were plenty of DM available in summer. Now we have Lucas alone. Team very weak in that position.

In janaury DM and a Winger should be a priority. So that we can loan out the likes of Ibe, Sterling, also Wisdom etc.

Nemanja MAtic would be good player as will Yarmalenko.
And this talk of Suarez leaving, IMO unless absurd amount comes in that will be very wrong. Need to wait till end of season. THis is a very good first eleven no need to disrupt it.

And when we have Coutinho and Johnson back in XI. Juss can't wait. Also looking forward to return of Allen.

I really disagree with selling borini, there is no point in selling him, he has hardly had a shout at any point in his career, not even at sunderland, he should be given a good run before we judge him. also alberto is far better than teixeira and adorjan, alberto definitely has a certain class about his style of play and the positions he gets into, in a way I do agree he wasn't a neccesity but he is class, as is suso. a DM is desperately needed aswell which is pretty obvious. I too am very excited for our injured players to get back because with this formation we have or not, we look pretty good at the moment.

Agree0 Disagree0

Luis Alberto has been at the club about 4 months. He's a young lad and he's not had time to prove himself yet. I am honestly dumbfounded that people are so quick to write players off. What the hell happened to LFC fans?

Agree0 Disagree0

Aspas is finding things tough, that's the life of a footballer and I hope some of the lads get around him and help him out. But Sturridge and Suarez are scoring goals, gelling nicely and working for us that is a working partnership, Aspas will need to grab his bit chances and make, take and create things for others.

The manager wanted him and now it's down to the player making an impact, giving the manager a headache for his first 11 and justifying the choices to the fans by getting results. I don't think selling Borini is the right course of action, I think he's a great young prospect that needs a decent run of games and some fine tuning, he's not a powerhouse striker he's a jack in the box type of striker and he has a great opportunity to impress for us whilst playing for the newly appointed Sunderland manager Gus Poyet.

Agree0 Disagree0

Borini was, is and will be a waste of space. A good manager knows when to get rid to cut his loses i.e Carroll.
We hold him for the dream of being extraordinary? Get real people Borini will always be a mid table team player, after Liverpool he will vanish into mediocrity.
I don't understand why you want to keep players who are not good enough for Liverpool(a perfect example is N'gog)

Agree0 Disagree0

DonCorleone.

Jayus were have you been this past ten years most of the players we had were squad players at best. with a few exceptions.

And now it looks like we are building decent squad of players and building is the key word.

really cheesed of with the likes of you know all jerks who slat our family.
N'gog did a job scored some goals but was a squad player and did his best which is all we can ask of any player to do.
i could understand this type of criticism of players if we were on the same path this time last season. have a look at the table your negativity isn't welcome as it can spread like a virus.

Agree0 Disagree0

Judge him after a run of 10 full matches for **** sake some people

Agree0 Disagree0

It amazes me when Liverpool fans get attached to a player, in this case because he's foreign and has a good celebration. He's not good enough to play for Liverpool, he's not good enough to play for Sunderland. Get over it

Agree0 Disagree0

What a set of tools some of you are why don't you you just kick Borini in the b******s and be done with.Get back on your x box.

Agree0 Disagree0

Got to agree AMERN, what is it that
ASPAS does that ADAM MORGAN
couldn't do and what is it that
ALBERTO does that SUSO or JONJO
couldn't do because at the end of the
day the money could of been better
spent, as for BORINI this is the fellow
who was going to have us on the edge
of our seats. what ever happened
to the WELSH XAVI?. when RODGERS speaks you have to see through it, the man has got a degree in bluffing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bluffing all the way to joint top of the league on points? ill take it

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets see how borini does for poyet as di canio was a nut, if he improves we take him back if not we send him on for at least 5 to 7 million so it didn't work out but with sturridge and couthinho it did, some you win some you lose.

Hi eds, just wondered if we did but Will Highes would it directly effect Jack Dunns chances of making the first team, I would like to see more scousers in the team but I know it can't always happen, thanks in advance

Henlow red {Ed002's Note - All players would be squad players and few youth players will in reality make a sustained input to the first team.}
