Liverpool ladies are actually too good, avoid defeat in their final game and they win the league. Success on all fronts

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The Ladies have done brilliantly. The club has invested and reaped the benefits. Women's football is big in US, so they see the point in investing in the team. Good on them, and well done Ladies so far.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't really know the real situation, but from the news on the official website, it does seem as they have invested quite abit in the ladies team. I guess we can say both are top of the league now =P

Only time I've ever wanted Everton to get anything out of a derby game was last night. I used to coach the women's team whom reformed to become Bristol Academy and work at the College where they play.

hi eds/reds do you think sakho will start ahead of kolo if kolo is fit r skrtel after his performance against utd against swansea this monday r will br stick with same team he played against utd.any thoughts ed ty {Ed019's Note - I think that Sakho will play - but you never know}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I wonder about an Agger-Sakho pairing. I think that should be explored. Obviously both of them being lefties is a disadvantage. But at this level, they should be able to cope.

Agree0 Disagree0

How many right footed center half partners are there?

So who do we reckon will be lining up in the centre of our defence then? I seriously can't see Skrtel playing. As fantastic as he was against United, RVP is a very different striker to Bony, and I think Skrtel would struggle against Bony. Bony is a complete powerhouse who I think would run straight through both Agger and Skrtel. I can see Kolo and/or Sakho partnering Agger to add some much needed muscle to stop his runs which, in Holland, were devastating (obviously if Sakho has settled enough and Kolo is fit again).

not Liverpool related ed but I heard that when barca sold villa to athletico they had a clause which gives them first option on oliver torres, you know if that's true? would have loved seeing us go for him, kids going to be top class. {Ed002's Note - It won't be true. The business doesn't work like that.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

All this first option, player swap, part player exchanges plus cash exists mostly in the minds of fans. Things don't generally work that way.

I am still dreaming about Juan Mata in exchange for Torres and 10 million. They give us back Torres but to compensate us they give us Mata and 10 mirrion pounds.

{Ed033's Note - new blog entitled, Is there a place for the 'Jack of all trades' midfielder in the modern game? now on the LFC Blogs page

Cheers Eds. This blog was inspired by AnUglyGeordie I think his name was? He asked me about Fabian Delph of Aston Villa so I have done a review on him as well as Ramsey, Henderson, Allen, Wilshere, McCarthy and Cleverly. I hope you all give it a read and let me know what you think! It is basically about under rated midfielders and what they truly bring to a team.

Thanks again Ed.

Cheers Adam, well put together and fair blog. I actually like all the players mentioned, although not seen to much of Delph. Agree Henderson may be our next captain ( and Englands ) and a good point to is the rate he is developing, the others seem to have reached a level? For me Gerrards long term replacement.

Cheers Adam!

Agree0 Disagree0

That's a bit harsh on the others RN Red. Delph and Ramsey have only just started performing at a high level and will surely improve especially Delph as he will play regularly.
I think wilshere has come for an insane amount of criticism lately, most has been entirely uncalled for, he's had a terrible year but anyone who remembers him single handedly destroying Barcelonas midfield a few years ago should realistically believe this 20(!!) year old will be very very good! I personally think he has so much talent he could easily be top 3 midfielder in the world for the next 10 years, injuries permitting.
But a good read Adam and the point about jack of all trades is a good one I think British midfielders are behind the times a little, 442 being dead and all that. Specialised masters is the way forward. The fact we haven't had a top notch specialised defensive midfielder come through the ranks in 20 years says it all really.

Agree0 Disagree0

Never meant to be harsh, rate all them players mentioned. Like I said not seen Delph in a while. It should be remembered to that if Ramsey had never picked up the bad injury, and Nasri and Fabregas had not let Wiltshire would probably still be in the reserves. Think England should start to look at this constant thing they have of aging the next promising super star all the time, letthem develop at club level first.
Be interesting to see how they fit in Wiltshire and Ozil?and Carzola plays in that hole?

Is it just me or anyone else calm about the upcoming games?
I mean last season when our opponents have a big, quality frontplayers or against teams like West Ham, Stoke etc, I literally had small heart attacks during these games because we had a shaky defense.
Well I don't have these type of fear these days and credit must be given to Rodgers and management for rectifying these problems last year and addition of Sakho and Ilori only enhanced it!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Haha ill look till December to see how we are progressing and then start feeling calm. 3 points against Swansea! Come on reds

Agree0 Disagree0

Well, what is the worst that can happen?
We end up losing against the swans? Life goes on.

Johnson should be back in 5-6 weeks. Injury not as bad as early reports suggested. DS will start on Monday.

Another discussion for today!

With Henderson stepping up his game, and putting in a couple on MOTM performances IMO, do you think he will be replaced with Moses like a lot are saying? What would you do?

I don't think we can afford to take him out to be honest!

Thanks a lot

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well one thing I could do against lesser teams (no dis respect) is that play Gerrard and Hendo in the middle and four attacking players including moses who showed good form for nigeria, will mean lucas gets benched but we should see how this goes

Agree0 Disagree0

I think if any1 aspas will make way for moses, can't take hendo out.

I wouldn't have thought the first 11 will change other then johnson from the Manchester United game tho.

I've just submitted a review on Henderson that should answer this question. It will be posted on the LFC blogs and voting polls page when the ed's have time I suspect.

YNWAdam {Ed002's Note - When I can find someone to do it Adam.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we should keep it as it is personally. I don't see any reason to break up an incredibly solid midfield combination.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well, Moses will have a couple games before Suarez gets back, to prove his worth and I suspect these games will be crucial for the entire frontline. I think BR will use these games to assess each player and then decide what he thinks the best 11 is. Even though I'm sure the particular opponent will always be a factor. Formations will change from time to time as will personnel.
In all honesty, I'm more concerned about the CB pairing than the attacking options because usually CBs play the entire game. In most cases, 2 out of 3 substitutions are made up front or in the middle of the park, so we'll be able to utilize most of our attacking options anyway.

hey eds any idea if the new signings will start this week? {Ed001's Note - not a clue yet, it is only Wednesday, fitness will be assessed tomorrow and Friday before a final decision is made on who plays. I doubt the side will be much changed from the last match, other than where it needs to be.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Do you have an idea Eds who will replace Johnson on RB and whether Toure will start ahead of Skrtel. Thanks {Ed023's Note - I expect Wisdom or Kelly to slot in for now}
