Use our rumours form to send us liverpool transfer rumours.

13 Feb 2014 23:03:16
There is no doubt that Liverpool have been performing at a higher level (although of course there is still a lot of the season left) than previous seasons. While of course much of this can be put down to a better understanding of tactics, high squad morale and togetherness, I do wonder how much of it has come down to the work of Dr Steve Peters. There seems to be a real clarity in how we approach games, our tactics, and our level of 'ruthlessness' (see the games against spurs, everton, arsenal etc). And where there has been aggressiveness, is seems to be channeled into more positive parts of the player's game, rather than rash behaviour (eg Suarez vs Chelsea last season).

Also, a question for the Eds or anyone else that might know- have Liverpool, or any other club for that matter, ever approached Dave Brailsford as a performance consultant, or any other similar role?

Would be interested to hear anyone's thoughts or knowledge/experience on this topic.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think you can see the benefit of having a top sports psychologist at the club by looking at Young Sterling, he was thrust into the limelight last year and it looked like it was going downhill.

Also messes Skrtel & Suarez, I really don't think we'd be seeing performance and restraint of this type from either of them if there wasn't some kind of help going on.

Banter please Eds.

Evening Gent's.

Right, speak from the head and not the heart.

You are bang in form and playing some damn fine football and have, arguably, the best forwards line in the prem, along with City.

You, like the rest of us, have some tricky games coming up, away to Man Utd, West Ham, Man City and Southampton and some banana-skin home games, Swansea, Spurs and Chelsea.

Question>> Where do you think you will finish come May?
(Remember, speak from head not heart, lol)

PS, I think you will finish 3rd with Arsenal in 4th (due to our congested fixture list)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Impossible to answer Dags.

I do think the current top four will finish top four. In which order? I do not know. As long as we are there that's all that matters.

Red Rum

Agree0 Disagree0

3rd or 4th is realistic. I don't see the top four really changing unless someone capitulates and Sherwood turns out to be the new tactical genius. My heart says we could win or draw all our remaining games but my head says we will still have a couple of poor performances before May.
I'm predicting fourth (which would still be a successful season)

Hey mate, I wish all other fans from other sites were like you. (Polite and looking for a discussion, not just here for a wind-up like some bitters and mancs)

Anyway to be completly honest with you they only teams I fear away are Southampton and at Home are Chelsea.

No games are easy, but if we show up for most of the other games Like Palace and Cardiff away we will win. Its up to the players to treat these games like Arsenal or Everton at H. Hopefully it will help that we have almost a week to prepare and have like "5 new signings " coming back from injury who don't need time to settle into the PL.
Agger, Sakho, Johnson, Lucas, Enrique. And the first 4 will play very important parts in my opinion. Enrique I think will struggle to get into the team ahead of Flanagan and Johnson who I think will be played as a LB.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Feb 2014 22:56:17
And to answer you question, I think we will finish in the top 4 ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Third sounds realistic, I do think we have a better first 11 than you although you have more depth. But with Enrique, Sakho, Lucas, Johnson all coming back from injury, we really have no limit.

Agree0 Disagree0

To be honest DG i'm just hoping and happy with top four, back in the champs league where we belong!
However the fact that so many are saying we have a chance of winning the title does give me hope but for now I will take 1 game at a time! and hope for the best!
cheers

Agree0 Disagree0

From the head 3rd to 5th spurs are doing very well at the moment we don't do grate under pressure

Agree0 Disagree0

Alright Dags Mate

Ive been through both ours and your remaining games and tried predicting the results

about 4 times, and everytime I've tried both our clubs will be fighting for 3rd. spot both

so its to hard to call unless Arsenal hit a brick wall, anyway all the best for the remainder

of the season Especially in Europe

Agree0 Disagree0

If I'm honest dags, I really couldn't predict. Too many if buts and maybes. We have City at home by the way. We're top of the form guides both this year and against the sides in the bottom 7 on goal difference with chelsea and yourselves respectively so I was surprised to see that. We've only scored 2 goals less than City and everyone's raving about their firepower. We have Johnson, Agger back now, Lucas, Enrique and Sakho not far away so squad wise we're improving too. Our upcoming fixtures are nicely spread, practically 1 home 1 away until the end of the season. Dare I dream lol. At a push I would snap your hand off for 3rd but who knows, it's a funny old game ha ha.

It's impossible to say mate, this is the EPL we are talking about! We have the ability to give any team in the world a good game, but equally the ability to lose to a league one side with a full strength 11. It's all ifs and buts. To be fair, thinking with my head would probably mean I'd predict a higher finish, as I try so hard to be realistic if slightly pessimistic to avoid disappointment. It's easy to try and avoid disappointment, but knowing it's been silly mistakes that have caused draws and losses, along with us being 4 points off top, can only make us think that this could have been our season. Wins against WBA and Villa would have meant we'd be top now. When we win it's so easy to get carried away and think we can keep it up for the whole season, when we lose it's equally as easy to suggest it may be the start of a bad spell that could put us out of the running completely. As boring as Chelsea have been this season they are so consistent, and City are just incredible 95% of the time, Arsenal have had a blinder too, and Everton and Spurs have kept up so far, so the way I see it we are skating on thin ice. It's so close I wouldn't be surprised if season ended with the current top 4 in any order. But to answer your question i'd say my head says 4th is where we will end up. My heart says 1st - 5th depending on what day it is! Cheers mate your a good one you are, not many gunners like you out there.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree dg I think we will finish third, as with our forward line we're never out of any game.

Agree0 Disagree0

My head says.

City.
Chelsea.
Liverpool.
Arsenal.

Mt heart.

Liverpool.
City.
Arsenal.
Chelsea.

Agree0 Disagree0

We have city at home dg

Agree0 Disagree0

It think it will be 3rd or 4th but so difficult to call. Not being in Europe is a major benefit for us and I hope all the English teams progress to the next round and beyond!

Similarly I won't be too disappointed if you beat us on Sunday.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think 1st-5th are going to be a very close thing to be honest. No one really seems to be infallible at this point and I think all of us will drop the odd points here and there. That said, I think it'll finish Chelsea, City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs, United, Everton.

Agree0 Disagree0

GOOD answers lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Probably the most ridiculous notion any of you will ever hear but does anyone wonder if Arsenal may in fact finish 5th, and Spurs 4th? Looking at Arsenal's run of fixtures between now and April 5th, there's only 2 games I look at and think, "it'd be a shock if they don't win that" and that's Sunderland and Swansea at home. Stoke away is tough, as is Everton and if course City and Chelsea. Not to mention the north-London derby is at WHL too, and Spurs are only 6 points behind Arsenal. Just a notion anyway, because they aren't scoring enough goals and that doesn't look like changing anytime soon. Spurs, meanwhile, are playing fairly poorly and yet still winning games. Heaven forbid they start playing like they did the other night when they won 4-0 on a regular basis.
I guess the fact I can even convince myself that that is a possible outcome is down to this season being so unpredictable and so God damn brilliant. Don't you just love the BPL?

Agree0 Disagree0

74pts, 4th place.

Ed fellow reds, I think that all talk of possible players coming in this summer is pointless because the calibre of player will be much greater if we get top 4 . My only concern would be if we get in champs league, if top players did come in will it upset a very steady team .hopefully BR would credit the players he has and just strenghten the squad .

Lots of "big up" Liverpool propaganda being rolled out on various websites today.

Just for banter, I was wondering what the top four predictions were for end of season.

I'd go man City, Chelsea, Liverpool, arsenal.

No science behind it just the.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree! .

Id guess
man city or the gooners #1 and 2nd
us and chelsea 3rd and 4th

however its just way too close to call even the spuds and bitters have a chance!

Hi Eds and fellow reds

I know I've said this before BUT I hope BR hasn't put the jinx on us saying we're going to challenge for the league. I know, it's superstitious but with 12 games left. I mean you saw how everyone raved after the Arsenal game (rightly so) and how we struggled to beat lowly Fulham (with respect).
I just want us to get top4 (at least) and will do anything in my power NOT to jinx our REDS!

Please don't laugh guys! YNWA

Evening Eds, reports claim that we had scouts attending in Portugal last night to watch Andre Gomes again for a possible summer target? Is there truth and a realistic chance that we could be serious about this kid or not as far as you are aware?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - You could add him to the list of nowhere near ready for the first team.}

13 Feb 2014 22:45:42
Ed is completly right.

We need some older players who are the finished article.
No point is signing more Luis Alberto's and Tiago Ilori's.
Not that I mind those players, I like them and think they will have a good future at Liverpool, but we already have them and many many more like them.

Teixeira, Pelosi, Peterson, Smith, Ibe, Dunn, etc. etc. and the U-18 which has like 50 players with potential to be stars in the future. Wilson, Kent, Sinclair, Rossiter, Smith, Maguire, Ojo, Williams, Jones, Canos, Cherevilla.

If and hopefully when we finish in the top 4, we will need players who are ready to finish in the top 4 again next season and compete decently. Afterall, what is the point if you are not going to try and win something.

13 Feb 2014 19:58:16
Apologies for the copy and paste Ed's, but seen this a few times today and wanted to know if you knew anything on it? I thought Chelsea's focus was on Luke Shaw?

Liverpool have now joined both Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea in the race to land coveted Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno at the end of this season.

The Merseyside giants' head coach Brendan Rodgers has made the purchase of a new left-sided full his absolute number one priority for when the transfer window reopens again this summer.

The Northern Irishman has so far tried out a number of different options in that problem position at Anfield in this campaign, starting off proceedings with first choice Jose Enrique in the role.

However, when the reliable, if slightly unspectacular, Spaniard then suffered a serious knee injury in November that subsequently required the defender to undergo surgery, Rodgers was then forced to try out young England Under-21 international John Flanagan in Enrique's position.

Not only that, but the Reds have since been using on-loan France left wing back Aly Cissokho in the position after Flanagan picked up a hamstring injury just after Christmas, all of which has now forced Rodgers to scour the market on the Continent for a permanent solution to this problem area at Anfield.

In order to find the right player though, Rodgers and the club's transfer committee have called upon their network of scouts across Europe to come up with a list of possible targets for the club to go after this summer.

And top of that wish list is understood to be the name of Sevilla's highly rated Spain international, a player that has also been attracting the attentions of the likes of Premier League champions United and Uefa Europa League holders Chelsea too of late with both those two giants also known to be on the look out for a new left back for next season.

Moreno made his full debut for the world and European champions back in October and despite having only won two caps for La Roja, the 21-year-old is still set to go to this summer's Fifa World Cup finals in Brazil with the defending champions.

And that is why it is thought that Liverpool are eager to do a deal for Moreno before that tournament gets under way in June, with the club concerned that demand for the Spaniard will increase if he shines in South America this summer, while his price will also then rocket skywards as a result.

However, with a contract in Southern Spain that currently runs until June 2018, Liverpool may have to fork out a sum somewhere in the region of £20m in order to land the full back.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Morena is a player who has attracted a lot of interest. But Real Madrid have him on thel list of three for the summer.}

13 Feb 2014 20:47:34
Jebus, tv seem to be in bed with us atm. There have been about 5 different stories of people including Morinho tipping us for the title.

Yeah we look amazing at the momeny but people need to chill out. Pretty sure Rogers had been saying we will finish as high as we can and to take a the league 1 game at a time.

Now all of a sudden we can go all the way according to him, there are 12 games to go and yes we may have a slight advantage in no euro football and a better run of fixtures but its too early for all this.

Its freaking me out.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If you read the articles, nobody related to the club has said we are going to win the league. Gerrard said he thinks we are dark horses, but that hardly means we are favourites.

I think with the quality of football we have been playing and our league position, of course the media will run wild with stories, but we all need to keep our feet on the ground and take each game as it comes.

Red Rum

Agree0 Disagree0

There are a few very important games in that run of games. If we win all of them important ones without dropping too many points in the others, I will allow myself to dream of the title, not before then though.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Feb 2014 22:12:04
I wouldn't say we have a 'better run of fixtures' at all.

It's just to put pressure on the team hopefully the squad will just concentrate on the games as we play them and nothing else.

Was surprised to see so many decent players whose contracts expire this summer.

Some could be a viable short term option if needed. We all know Montoya's contract expires and he WOULD be a major coup but so would one or two of the below.

E. Cambiasso. Inter.
R. Garcia. Athletico Madrid.
J. Menez. PSG.
A. Cole. Chelsea.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I wouldn't mind seeing menez, probably unrealistic but we are going to need wingers and depth. he would provide both.

Agree0 Disagree0

Abate at RB would be perfect as would Matuidi for midfield.

I mentioned last week that winning 3 points away at Fulham was far more important than the FSG A Cup tie at Arsenal. I'm over the moon with our result and you could see what it meant to Stevie and the boys, even those on the subs bench!
Do you envisage changes to the Team this weekend or stay unchanged?.as I think Arsenal will have changes due to CL.
Whatever, I would prefer a result one way or the other rather than a replay? Thoughts.
Well done BR.keep it going.

Just a quesion away from the elation of last nights late comeback but i'm curious about Martin Kelly. I was speaking to a friend and he was of the opinion that his development looks like it has been hindered so badly that it seems unlikely he will have a future at Liverpool. I was not in agreement but my friends points were valid: his pace has vanished, he looks nervous on the ball and his injury occured at a crucial stage of his career. His conclusion is that sadly he will not make it.

I disagreed. I argued that, although his development has been hindered and his pace does seem significantly reduced, that he is 1) still recovering from his lengthy absence and 2) that he could still be utilised and redeveloped as a centre back. He has all the physical attributes for that position and as it is less physically demanding than the full back role he could still have a part to play. I'm not sure if this will be a reality though - the length of time he has been out for is enormous and would negatively affect ANY player, he does look like he has lost his confidence and he looks like he has lost his pace. I don't think the right-back position will be reclaimed but I think that he could be a good centre back if his recovery goes smoothly enough.

My question to eds and fellow posters is what do you think? Will Kelly make a return to the first team (as either a centre-back or full back) or do you think that his Liverpool career may have sadly been cut short by the severity of his injury?

Cheers folks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I wouldn't go as far as saying his career has been cut short, but he is no where near ready for the first team. I have been saying this for a while now, but a loan move to a lower premier league side wouldn't do him any harm. In that time we would see how well he does and assess his chances of regaining a place at Liverpool.

Red Rum

Agree0 Disagree0

I would say wait until he's had a decent amount of first team football under his belt before we see.
He will need to recover his confidence in his body and abilities before he let's himself go a bit and pushes himself in games.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Feb 2014 23:46:40
He is propably one of the players BR rates most highly at the whole club. Give him time. He will be back in full fitness next season.

How short memories, prove his ability to what? To be the best RB at the club when he first broke into the first team? So good in fact he got called up for England, and then got injured?
He will be the best CB at the club with Sakho in the coming years. Less running = Less injuries. Fullbacks are those who run the most, if you are not Jordan Henderson that is.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nothing about short memory mate - he has had a terrible tiome with injuries at a key stage of his career, some players recover from them 100%, some don't recover at all and some recover but are never quite the same. Kelly is clearly not the same player he was a couple of years ago. I feel sorry for the lad because, as you said, he was looking to be one of the best right backs in the country. If he gets back to full form I would be delighted but I expect his days playing as a full back are numbered. If does need to prove himself again because the injury has hampered him - as of yet it is unclear as to how bad, long term, it will affect him.

Apart from the heart in mouth win, it was good to see "Aspas" reaction at the sidelines.
1. when a foul was given against Cout around 86th.min, he looked as furious as BR

2. When Studge won the Penalty, he was so enthusiastic . with all pumpin his fist, was great to see.

Hope he gets his opportunities and is a big success, Love the Lad .

Awsome, I hope he makes it at Liverpool, he has shown flashes in pre season he can be a brilliant player for us.

Before you judge me, try to find the Liverpool-Olympiakos game from pre-season and watch it again, he was brilliant.

I remeber a back-heel cross which would have been one of the best assists I have ever watched live but Joe Allen ofcourse missed. I think it was Joe Allen.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good spot
Seems to be a real team spirit at the moment
Right behind all the lads for the rest of the season everyone ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Pre season was 6 months ago, not really good enough to have not put in a good performance since then. The physicality of the league has made it difficult for him to settle but, to be fair, most players from abroad take time to settle in. I hope we hang on to him as, if we make european next season, he will be more involved - think he might be more effective against european opposition as well. Most players need time, hope he is given it: having Borini and Aspas as options in case of injury and/or suspension is a good thing. Whether they'd be happy to remain at the club under those terms is less clear and the burden of having such a good strike partnership up front - what player wants to play a bit part role? Only those with a poor attitude (see Moses).

13 Feb 2014 15:28:50
Gotta say our squad is starting to look stronger with the news of Agger, Johnson, Sakho, Enrique and Lucas all about to rejoin the squad.

With that in mind I was thinking of the foundations we are presently placing with our youngsters. At present we have Flannaghan playing brilliantly in the first team currently. Sterling has also upped his game this season and is coming on really well. Henderson has also improved immensely.

Then you have the youngsters who are gaining appearances I.e. Ibe, Alberto, Teixera and possibly Smith. These will be gaining much needed experience in playing bit parts and training with the first team. They will also adapt to the higher level of physicality too.

The third section is our players currently on loan. At present we have Borini doing really well at Sunderland and could return as third choice striker. Assiaidi has also made an impact playing for Stoke (although I do expect him to be sold if honest).

We also have Suso who's playing really well for Almeria. Wisdom at Derby and Mcglaughlin at Barnsley I think. We also have Ilori at Grenanda. All four will return looking to at least be part of the first team squad (Suso in particular).

We still need a top quality young keeper to provide competition so hopefully in the summer we will sign one. I think a left back is still needed too. There is some viable options about such as :

F. Coentroa.
A. Moreno.
L. Digne.

I'd say midfield will be interesting. Will we won't we go back for Konoplyanka? Shaqiri maybe an option. If Banega is available for 8 million he'd be an excellent buy.
For now though I have faith in the squad we have the players returning from injury will feel like signings to the first team and competition for places is there again.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't think Moreno is an option. He will be way to expensive and Real Madrid want him, among others.

Digne is at PSG, just moved infact, and I don't think he is an option either.

Coentrao, maybe.

Agree0 Disagree0

Valencia just let benega go on a free and I'm sure he's gone back to a club in Argentina

Agree0 Disagree0

He's been loaned to Newells old boys until June 30th. I would say this would make him even more affordable in the summer.

Also Digne did only sign for PSG last summer, but could still be sold this summer due to lack of games apparently.
Don't get me wrong I'd prefer Moreno and Montoya to be our fullback signings this summer, but Digne is decent too and young.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Feb 2014 23:27:41
Digne won't be sold anywhere lad.

Agree0 Disagree0

Digne won't be going anywhere near us sadly. Moreno probably a similar story but we would offer him guaranteed first team football and MIGHT be able to afford him should Sevilla's financial woes continue. As for Coentrao? In my opinion over rated and priced far too highly for what he would bring.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Feb 2014 14:58:13
Questions for Ed001 & Fellow reds. Would you take Shinji Kagawa? Probably unlikely that he will become available, however if he was to become available, I for one would certainly take him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Gotta say I wouldn't. I'm not sure he's adapted to the physicality of our league. There are other more viable options for the fee he would cost.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we're going for a forward we HAVE to go for a winger. we have coutinho suso alberto and teixeira.

Agree0 Disagree0

Take him where? To our local Asian restaurant in the hope he knows what's good & what's not?

Agree0 Disagree0

Nah he can't seem to produce the goods in this league as he does abroad.
His value will more to a foreign team so he will likely be sold abroad, so little chance of an English team snapping him up and as always a zero chance of us getting him anyway.

The ball by Steven Gerrard for the first goal was sublime. That just reflects what a player he is. Also that third goal celebration really showed what that goal meant for him. Not the best display (after Arsenal last week) but team fought till last minute and grabbed the winner. Well Done team and well done BR.

Also Congratulations! JCT (Teixeria) for making it into first team. Hope you strive to be one of the best player in our roster.

Had a beaming smile all day at work today. We mustn't get carried away as spurs are right behind us. But champions league qualification from this position is a must. If we are inconsistent then its a battle between us and spurs for the 4th spot. Though Everton shouldn't be counted out. If we continue to get the results then who knows where we may end up.

Now coming to the FA cup. I believe the cup is very important. Under benitez and dalglish, we were strong in the cups but weak in the league. Now for me winning a trophy is very important, and hence I say we need to win on Sunday. With agger back, our defence is boosted and I feel moses may play a part too. My gut feeling is arsenal will try to stifle us and with giroud they have the perfect striker to trouble us in the air which seems to be our nemesis. But will Wenger change his playing style from their free flowing stuff remains to be seen. I have a feeling that if we beat arsenal we might again get to play Everton and Chelsea.

Hi guys

LIVERPOOL FC previous 10 seasons

1. 2013 - 7TH - 61Pts
2. 2012 - 8TH - 52Pts
3. 2011 - 6TH - 58Pts
4. 2010 - 7TH - 63Pts
5. 2009 - 2nd - 86Pts
6. 2008 - 4th - 76Pts
7. 2007 - 3rd - 68Pts
8. 2006 - 3rd - 82Pts
9. 2005 - 5th - 58Pts
10. 2004 - 4th - 60Pts

Our previous 10 seasons we only finished 3 times with more than 68 points.

So a BIG improvement would be 68 points or more. Do you fellow reds/eds see us achieving at least this with 53 points already in the bag.

Basically we need another 16 points (or more) from our remaining 36 points.

But will this be enough for Top 4 or not?

Good info but I believe this season to be different to others in points. There have been a lot more slip ups by top teams in the more recent seasons, along with a better standard of lower teams.
I do think a lower number of points would suffice for top four this season, but I am looking for top 3 personally. We are playing well and the return of our first choice defense in the next week or two will greatly help!
Weve been smooth and efficient going forward but worrying at the back. The reintroduction of Agger, Sakho, Johnson and Enrique along with the anchor of Lucas will really help stabilise the rear guard, although I wouldn't mess around with our midfield too much. Henderson Gerrard and Coutinho have been awesome.
Most entertaining and exciting season, all in not just us, for years. 11 teams in a relegation battle and still 5 teams with a decent shout at the title!

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to say the biggest issue for me would be Johnson returning to the team - defensively his positioning is horrific and we have enough of a forward threat with Sterling playing right side

Id go for Flanno-Sakho-Agger-Enrique

I still have some reservations over Mignolet: Skrtel mistake last night was from a high looping cross that would have landed 4 yards out - keepers ball?

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Feb 2014 23:34:48
NOT the keepers ball what so ever. Sometimes I really wonder if I am watching the same game as some on here. Skrtel should have just let flanagan clear it and their would have been no problems. Mignolet is getting ridicolous stick which he does not deserve at all. He has most def won us much more points than he lost us, specially when you consider his mistakes which I can count on 1 hand.

The ball was in the 6 yard box - it is the keepers to claim. Why he didn't is a mystery, looks to me like Mignolet has been instructed to stay on his goal line at all times.

Still buzzing over lasts nights victory,
I'm not going to get into cliches about how we would have lost in similar situations before, however I read that stat that said we haven't earned any points in the last ten minutes of games this season, so it's nice to have that off our backs.
It's hard not to look to the top of the table, given this is the closest we have been in years, but with spurs only 3 points away, getting away from them needs to be priority number 1.
If their form keeps up, our game against them will be crucial.

Our game on the weekend will be interesting.
We can really only make 1 change in midfield, this being Joe Allen of course. I don't regard Alberto as much of an option, given Brendan's reluctance to use him. It would be an odd time to give him a start.
This could hinder us, Henderson has played in every game, Coutinho has been putting in really big shifts for us and Gerrard the same.
I can certainly see Allen coming in, for Coutinho would be my bet.
This could still leave us with some fatigue come 60+ minutes.

Arsenal should be able to make some changes, with Flamini coming in.
It will be a very tough game, we didn't give the best account of ourselves at the Emirates.
I'd take a draw, we don't have the fixture pile up Arsenal do, and I'd really fancy ourselves at Anfield.
Anyway, here's hoping.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Didn't we earn a draw at Goodison earlier this season with Sturrridges equalizer? And 87th min Sturrridge goal at stoke at 4-3 was also decent off the top of my head. but yeah a 90th min winner is sweet

I have a bad feeling about Moses getting some time soon. hope he's got his Nigerian boots with him if he's called up

Texxeria definitely didn't lack confidence last night! He was so relaxed it was untrue haha! Just strut about as if it was a training match. Kid showed well I thought.

Anyone noticed that both players and Fans are afraid to admit that Liverpool are challenging for the league. If I am brutally honest I would snap your hand off for 4th right now even though things are looking very good! I don't know why though?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Of course we are mathematically in the race, but what good would it do for the manager or players to come out and say we will win the league? It will only add unnecessary pressure onto the team. We have seen it many times before.

Also, us fans have got our hopes up too many times before and we have learnt to not get too carried away. I think the majority of fans would admit that we are in a much better position to challenge than we have been for years, but I think the correct mentality for all involved is to take each game as it comes, and hopefully come may we will be where we need to be if not better.

Fantastic result yesterday. I feel these are the performances that show we are constantly improving. we would have definitely lost a game like that last season. going behind 2 times and fighting back to pull out the victory shows an immense belief among the players. I was very impressed with Texieira. I have heard a lot about him in the reserves and that he had a bright future but if I didn't know better I would have though he was a regular first teamer with the way he went about it. looked confident and unfazed by the atmosphere. hopefully he gets another opportunity.

I believe we can really challenge now, with arsenal having a ridiculous fixture pile up coming & city playing barca home and away in the next two weeks, there's no doubt there gunna drop points, if we consentrate and keep winning we could find ourselves in the mix with 5 games to go.

All of this talk about finishing 4th is a load of tosh. AIM FOR THE TOP.
If we aim to win every game and aim to win the league then, if we finish just short so be it. we will have achieved something this season. With our strike force we can give anyone a game. its amazing what belief can do to ones mindset. If the players know that we believe then they will believe. I have seen players out on their feet but still give 100% because they believe. let's hope that Wales win the grand slam again and Deirdrie gets married again. oh, and something to do with the Pope

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I disagree, aim for nothing other than winning the next game and see where it takes us. Forget titles etc, just concentrate on the next game like the old days.}

I know what you're on about Ed but in the old days we aimed to finish top. it was all geared to winning every game. 1 game at a time, yes, but winning and finishing top.

Agree0 Disagree0

One game at a time IS the way to go. Leave the rest to the media nd tv pundits.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with Robbie. We should not give too much of respect to any clubs we face during the matches. On our day we're just as good as the best team in the EPL. Likewise, we must not get too cocky.

Agree0 Disagree0

Must agree with Ed. Focus on the next game and then the next. We cannot get ahead of ourselves, Spurs are very much on our tails and playing well. Having had a look at the fixtures, on paper they have a more favourable finish compared to us in the league.
As long as the lads stay focused and continue to show the character on display last night (minus the defensive errors) I'm sure the rest will fall into place nicely.

Agree0 Disagree0

No hope of Wales winning a grand slam buddy because we gave them a thrashing at the Aviva last week. Sorry to burst that bubble

The defence needs to realise what's required so that they can start to produce better results. We have only kept 3 clean sheets in our last 12 games. That needs to improve in the remanding premier league 12 games if we are to stay 4th.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think if the defenders need to be told what is required this far into the season then we have big problems, it is not so much of us not knowing what to do rather it is a case of us doing the bare essentials correctly first time round.
Defending 101 -
1- pass ball to own team, not to opposition player right I front of your goalkeeper
2-keep eyes on ball when kicking ball to clear away from your goalkeeper
3-talk English to each other when defending so everyone understands that the goalkeeper is staying on his line and the defenders must clear the ball

Agree0 Disagree0

Unless Toure and Sakho are the CB's with Mignolet as the goalie seeing as they all talk the French. And Cissokho.

My observation on how this season is developing. The top nine teams all have European aspirations. There is a gap and the other eleven could all face relegation issues so there don't appear to be any mid table teams just treading water. Every game will be competitive. Cardiff away will be as difficult as Man C home. Look at West Brom away for both us and Chelsea.
We should accept what we have (one point more than at the end of 2011/12 season) and keep the attitude of the "next game is the important one". This is what Brendan is doing. We could end up with 89 points - but we won't, so there will be negatives to come. The defence will make mistakes but there should be far more positives. This will be the same for everyone.
I just hope that the worst scenario is 4 points ahead of 5th with one game to go!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Should be a great end of the season for neutral fans. Every team is either trying to get into Europe or not get relegated.

Still buzzing frm last night, I see a lot of people say it & don't want to sound all cliche but that is what champs(top 4) teams manage to do, play on a wet, cold & windy night & grind out a win. I don't dare dream & think we can win the league but I tell you what it is so refreshing that we even mentioned in it & not languishing in 7th starting to build for nexr season already. My post was meant to be about Sunday actualy, if i'm right in remembering Rodgers has made quite a few changes in cup i.e jones, kelly, moses coming into the starting 11 you could say this was because it was against so called lesser teams, but ed001 can you see him doing it again on sunday? i'm torn, I think arsenal might b there for the taking & our strongest 11 might well get through, but on the other hand could you imagine the uproar there would b if he played all the big guns & one of them got injured he would b hung out to dry by all the fans & the press. Sayin that my heart rues my head, let's FUCHIN GO FOR IT! UNLEASH THE TITANS ON SUNDAY!

I find it very hard to believe texiera is ahead of Alberto in the pecking order & believe yesterday was probably a box ticking exercise but the lad looked good as usual in the u21's where's Alberto looked exceptional & scored a hat trick in his one game for the u21's. I'm frustrated with his lack of action so the lad must be distraught but at least were in the top 4 still

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You don't see training everyday witch plays a huge part be happy for him he is a young lad who recovered from a bad back injury

Agree0 Disagree0

Well, I think decisions will need to be made on them in the summer. We have Coutinho, Alberto, Teixeira and Suso, who are all similar type of players.

Perhaps Suso and Alberto will go on loan?

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair to the lad I thought he played very well when he came on. He looks better developed (physically) as well, maybe that's gone in his favour.Maybe.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is all about how he conducts himself, he has shown a fantastic attitude, especially after the huge knockback of being sent back by Brentford. That deserved reward, and he got his reward last night, showing, to be fair, that he fully deserved it.}

I disagree 90% of the games Teixeira plays for the U21 he shows he is the best player on the pitch as the academy coaches probably told BR(just my opinion). He has had injuries and had to adapt to the different style in England same goes for Alberto of course but BR has shown all along that if you apply yourself you will get a game regardless of your lack of first team experience. At the end of the day the club also invested resources into Teixieira and raising his profile with appearances will aid LFC.

Agree0 Disagree0

Real AG, I say we keep all the 4, IF we get top 4. But if one was to go out on loan, I sure as hell don't want it to be Suso. I feel he's ready for first team at Liverpool.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Feb 2014 23:27:07
I think people think teixeira is a Coutinho or a Suso, He is a box to box midfielder, a more classy Henderson if you like, due to his very long term injuries he came with, he has played in more advanced positions so he would do less running. But when in full physical condition he is a central midfielder who doesn't stop running for 90 minutes.

Suso as well plays most of his games at Almeria on the Right Wing, he and Sterling can compete/rotate for a starting role. Same applies for Borini who plays most of his games on the left wing for Sunderland and does so much running and covering his left back, you can trust him do a very good job there covering for Suarez or a new LW which BR obviously keeps looking for!

13 Feb 2014 11:28:10
Great to see suarez after we scored the second equaliser. He grabs the ball and stops the celebrations. More or less tells the boys to get back and ready for the run in to win the game. Its we things like that will get you a win rather than a draw. Well done to the mighty reds. YNWA

Some united supporters back here in South Africa were watching the end of our game as their game aired earlier than ours, they didn't watch long enough to see the final result so I get a message from one of them this morning saying. "oh well, guess you guys couldn't beat Fulham either", I almost fell off my chair laughing,

United supporters here in South Africa are gone into a state of emergency, - they avoid being seen by Liverpool supporters because they are just dumb founded by their team's "success" this season

Is it me or has anyone else noticed Flanagan's distribution lately, his passes have been sublime at times and his ability to turn defense into attack with just one pass to sterling or Sturridge is awesome, I seen him do it a couple of times against Arsenal, arsenal clear their lines only for Flanagan to punt the ball right back into play, and not just lob the ball but precise passes,

The effort he has put in and the difference he has made to the team is as important as sterling, continuo etc. we may have a lot of youth in the team, but boy do our youth have something special.
YNWA

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He has been brilliant for us but starting to look tired at the min, some rotation me thinks

Agree0 Disagree0

Flanagan has been excellent since he came back into the team, but yesterday, I thought he was poor. He gave away the ball cheaply a number of times and was caught out of position plenty of times too (though most of the time, it was because he was in an advanced position and others gave the ball away cheaply).

I guess he could have been better communication between him and Skrtel for their 2nd goal too.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not Flanno's best game yesterday - none of the defence were great, it says something when Cissokho was probably our best defender.

His positioning was always high, Strtel was pushed across, almost at Rb and we left gaping wholes where Toure had not come across far enough. He'll learn though, his distribution is largely composed though. perhaps Kelly for Arsenal?

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought both his offensive and defensive work was excellent against Arsenal, but I think he's starting to tire or feel too comfortable in his position, either way yesterday I noticed several times that he failed to track back. He's a young lad so he'll learn but I do suspect tiredness, especially after his performances against Arsenal and Everton, also Tottenham earlier in the season.

Anyone think we should enquire about Holtby in the Summer? Not in Sherwood's plans and probably wouldn't want to play Championship football next year if Fulham go down. Looked impressive last night.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You can't make approaches for players based on one good performance, playing In a Fulham team of course he would look impressive! but at spurs he didn't make the impact he was expected to make! maybe he needs more time in the premier league but I think there are a lot of other players that can be looked at that show consistency.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nahh. Where would he play? We have 4 other players who are/could all be better than him, and are more versatile than him.

Rather give Suso a chance next year instead.

Before we go off about our defensive mistakes, first look at the defensive unit we have and who supposed to lead that, for me Mignolet has been poor with his decision making, yes at point blank he is excellent and saved us many times, but last night when Fulham scored their second goal, that cross that came in could of been dealt with by Mignolet, but he leaves Skrtel to try and deal with it and he tries to maintain his line, for me that is inviting pressure, he is placing his defenders under unnecessary pressure, if he takes more control and deals with that cross then his defenders can focus on dealing with e defenders hounding them,

Too many games I have seen Mignolet's indecisive moments either cost us a goal or placed his defenders under pressure and either the ball is given away cheaply or they do silly things.

I am not asking for Mignolet to be sold or dropped or thrown off a bridge, but I am saying that he needs some work on his game, it is like he is happy to let the ball drop to an apponent and for them to take a shot because he seems more confident in stopping a shot than trying to deal with the ball first time round

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That wasn't mignolets cross to go for he was ill positioned to go after it. By all rights it was flannos, I can't think for the life of me why skrtel even attempted an overhead on it. He literally just let's it hit his foot and drop, that's not good defending at all.

Agree0 Disagree0

If you watch the replay you will see he could of dealt with it, if he was not in a good position to deal with then when skrtel clears the ball or attempts to clear it again Mignolet is not in the right position to deal with the shot, I am not slating the guy, just it has become apparent to me every time I watch him that his decision making is questionable a lot of the time

Agree0 Disagree0

Skrtel gives a completely unnecessary throwin, he then looks across the box when taking up position notices there are 2 fulham players in there, tells flanno to take up the marking of the man coming in, flanno clearly indicates he has 2 to take up, and tells skrtel to pick the runner up. Skrtel stays in position, the ball is hit in at pace right at the edge of the 6, Migs can't committ early because of the hheight and pace of the ball. Skrtel should realise he's not going to be able to get a significant touch on that to clear it. It's skrtels fault all day long. The whole passage starts from his error and ends in his error

Agree0 Disagree0

There were mistakes all around leading to that goal. First Kolo heads it the wrong way, then Skrtel doesn't clear properly, then when the ball is in the box, Flanagan and Skrtel just didn't communicate and Skrtel makes a mess of the clearance. And finally, no one tracked Richardson's run into the box.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mig needs a leader and organiser in front of him. do you think Carra fancies getting his boots back on? Seriously though we need a settled four and some leadership - hopefully Agger can provide that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agger needs to be Right footed, he doesn't have huge physical presence him and Sakho would have been perfect.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think blaming Toure by himself for the own goal would be wrong. Skrtel could have easily done more on the first goal, which I might add was an unfortunate slice. He's also too wrapped up in his own mind to realise that Flanagan is ahead of the attacker and in prime position to clear, concequently they take each other out of the game and Fulham score another goal. Granted communication may have been the problem for the second but the first, Skrtel just watches the ball go past him.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Feb 2014 10:37:10
Really pleased with the character we showed yesterday. To be honest the only result I wouldn't want on the weekend is a draw which would mean an extra game. A loss wouldn't be too bad as it further clogs Arsenal's fixture list and frees up ours to focus on the league. And of course a win is one step closer to possibly lifting the cup.
Question for fellow posters and Ed001 though. If you could have any player from our past in their prime to add to this group, who would it be? Mine, would be Sami Hyypia to partner Sakho at the back and sure up our defence. Who would yours be?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Souness, though Hansen would do nicely. I am torn, either would make a huge difference, but, thinking about it, Hansen, because he was just so good on the ball. I loved Hyypia, but he was not even close to Jockey's level. Though I am now thinking Clemence, he was such a good defensive organiser, which is something we lack badly.}

Torres for me, in his prime, Torres and Sturridge up front with Suarez just behind. Could leave the other players on the bench and just play with those 3.

Agree0 Disagree0

Noshbag, that would not work. Way too attack minded. You would need to play with 3 DM's to even consider accommodating those 3 together.

What has impressed me most is you boys are showing immense character, something Arsenal seem to be lacking at the moment.

Plus, your win pretty much means Manchester United won't get into top 4 (boo hoo).

I'm beginning to worry though because you are only 3 points behind us, lol.

Great win, well done chaps.

Thanks Dags,
it's been a fantastic week for us. I've still got a handprint round my face from looking through my fingers at the penalty lol. I was chatting to your mate lakerville the other day bout our away form and the run in and he was talking about us being only 3 ahead of Spurs and 9 ahead of Utd. He was talking about us having a bad run but we haven't been beaten this year yet. All of a sudden we're only 3 behind you guys and Spurs are 6 and playing much better under TS. I think he should have been more concerned about your position than ours given your run of fixtures until the end of March.
Really looking forward to the match on Sunday. The question I have for you is, Does AW play a full strength team knowing he needs a win for confidence going into Bayern game? Or would he be more concerned of playing a full strength team and losing and what that effect might have on the team so soon after last week?

Mate, I'm honestly not sure what his line up will be. We are heading straight into a congestion fixture and he has to rest players at some stage and I have a feeling it will be against you boys as we have Bayern Munich in CL 3 days later.

We have Flamini back from suspension and I think he will rest Giroud and play Podolski instead, we might even see our new signing who has been injured from the moment we got him, Ya Ya Sonogo.

Vermaelen is still injured so I don't think he can mess around with the defence too much although Monreal could replace Gibbs and Jenkinson in place of Sagna.

Just have this feeling that Arsenal will find it very hard, like last season perhaps, to get top 4. My my, what an eventful March they're going to have. Spurs breathing down our back as well. I trust in our team though, we've got some mettle now.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

4th/3rd placing is in our hands. We have to keep the momentum, keep winning, because we can't expect favours from other clubs to halt the challenge from the other top 4 contenders.

Agree0 Disagree0

If 3rd is in reach, then so is 1st - there's only 1 point difference really (assuming City beat Sunderland eventually) and we have them both to play still. Could be a three-way thriller at the end of the season!

Ok morning after the night before syndrome. we are 4th place more than most of us could of hoped for at this point in the season, we have injured players on the way back and a team full of confidence. Six games at home six away all apart from United against so called 'lesser' teams. Am I the only one who maybe deep down hopes we go out of the FA cup so we can concentrate solely on finishing in a European place. We are awesome at home at the moment wobbly away we have to tighten the defense up and there is then every possibility that we will be back challenging for the golden chalice and attracting players that should be at this club.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why hope that we should go out of the cup? The double is still on. Every game is winnable so let's go and try to win them. Send a message to Europe that we are here again. The other English teams in Europe hope that they can win. When we are in the competition we aim to win it.

Agree0 Disagree0

The double?? lmfao

YES the double. Why not? It is possible isn't it? 2005 no one give us a chance in the quarter final, semi and final. Untill it's impossible then it is possible. Spuds? hahehahe

forgot the 5 we gave you at your own backyard? Forgetting you are coming to Anfield where defences far superior to yours have chipped in 4's and 5's? Hilarious. A perfect example of most spuds, a bitter who doesn't even know it.

We will give your defence a new Arse-nal at Anfield and kill all you hopes of top 4 for this season just like we did last season when we weren't even realisticly challenging, what about now mate? we are seriously and more than realisticly challenging. We will win no matter what happens that day.

Hi friends

Some people are under the misconception that we are the only team who is having a good season, which lends itself to the fact that we are lucky in some way that other teams are not doing as well. I have had a look at the table after 26 games last season, and here are the facts.

Compared to this time last season (after 26 games):

LFC - 17 pts better off
ARS - 12 pts better off
CHE - 8 pts better off
EVE - 3 pts better off (game in hand this year)
TOT - 2 pts better off
M C - 1 pt better off (game in hand this year)
M U - 23 pts worse off

So every other team (except ManU) are better off this year. we are obviously much better off than everyone else.

My point is, we haven't relied on other teams having a bad season to be where we are. It shows how much BR and the squad have improved in a short space of time.

We were in 9th spot on 36pts with goal diff of +10 after 26 gaames last season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Data like this can easily be manipulated, as you don't play the exact same teams as last year, also is this vs the results achieved against the same opposition, EG we've played villa twice already this season, but it wasn't until our 31st game last year that we played them.

Agree0 Disagree0

Liverpres I think you make a good point mate. Its only the Mancs who have imploded this season.
Everton have performed really well (credit where credit is due), as have Arsenal, and City and Chelsea have kept on strengthening.
Spurs are silghtly better this season but that's after spending a lot of money in the summer.
I would say its only us, Arsenal and Everton who have performed better than expected before the start of the season.
We are punching well above our weight and the model of promoting from within, using the young players, buying young players and coaching them to improve their performance levels is working.

Bobatron lad, don't mean to be a person or anything. If you take the time and go over the exact same fixtures from last season you will find we have taken exactly +17 points from the exact same fixtures.

Example. Everton, Westbrom and Villa fixtures last year = 5 points.

Everton, Westbrom and Villa fixtures this season = 12 points.

+7 points. If you do this with all our fixtures so far you will see +17 points from last season (Excluding the newly promoted teams until we play Cardiff and Palace Away)

Agree0 Disagree0

Banned for life, what I meant was is this a direct table for table likeness EG after 26 games, or it it a game for game likeness, eg exact same fixtures. I've no idea.
Last year after 26 games we had 36 points so therefore were 17 points behind this years table.
However we had played city and man united twice.which we haven't ergo it's not really a direct comparison on a like for like fixture.
So going by you, it's +7 points then on a fixture basis, not +17 which means the data provided has been manipulated.

I know have a bad dilemma as a very superstitious person and don't know what to do. Was watching the game at work until we went down 2-1 as I left because I was getting so mad I didn't want to start cursing or yelling at players as if they could hear me at work. Next thing I Know I get home and we win 3-2, IF we ever go down again I may have to stop watching for the good of the team.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Don't worry mate, it wasn't you it was me.

had one of those days where everything I touched turn to rubbish. every time I watched they scored. every time I stopped, we clawed it back.

You can keep watching the games as long as I stay away!

K you two are banned fro watching us live :)

Some proper fist pumping in my living room earlier tonight. Get in there Stevie son! Real test of character, well done reds.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Had to laugh at this one mate, as I do the exact same thing. didn't get to watch it live here in Aussieland as it was on between 7am - 9am and I was at work. can't wait to get home and watch it though.

Yeah same here, trying not to scream when gerrards pen went in at 7am in the living room, trying not to wake my son and misses.

First time poster here. Can you imagine not getting a champions league now . At the start of the season I was just happy with a slight improvement, now I'm giddy with expectation, honestly I think we're no where near champions, however the higher we finish the better players we can attract . I know this is the bleeding obvious but champions breed champions ' we all dream of a team of carraghers ' If we can get that mentality though the squad we're unstoppable . Remember we beat Real and barca in they're own back yards.
Top four that's what we need and with Rogers we will get it, give him an extended contract and watch us become the force we once were!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don`t think we`ll win the league either. But as long as we keep our head down and take every game as an opportunity to compete for points and get better, then who knows? We will see where we are after the next 6/7 games

Agree0 Disagree0

If we win every game from now on I reckon it will be enough . do not be surprised if we have a better finish to the season than our nearest rivals, from here on in .

Agree0 Disagree0

If we aim for the title and just fall short we will still be in the top 4, if we aim for top 4 and just fall short it will be Europa League all the way. that's why I am setting my sights high.

I just wish Spurs would slip up to give us some breathing space, although our superior goal difference is like an extra point.

Agree0 Disagree0

I see us dropping points at the Southampton, Utd, City and Chelsea games. Norwich away, Cardiff away, West Ham away and Palace away won't be easy and will be some of the more tougher fixtures but are winnable after performances like last night's.

As for the rest of the season, if we play like we have been we may drop a couple here and there but generally I see us winning every game. I think we will finish around 80 points which is just short of what is needed for the title over the last 6 or so years but would get us at least 4th and probably higher.

Not having to qualify for the Cl would be nice!

Utd away? haha
City at home?

you could not be more wrong mate, the way those 2 games are set up, I am sorry for these words ed, BUT
we will stuff them.

Saints I kind of agree with but again, we will want some kind of revenge against them, they are safe and we will need the points more than them and will certainly not underestimate them or play 4 CBs together. I actually think if we are lucky with injuries and players giving their all, we can win 9 or 10 of our last 12.

Just to say how glad like everyone else I was to win that game! I was not expecting us to get that 3rd but what a result that was!

Like others I think it could prove more important to win a game like that in terms of confidence and togetherness than a 4-0 comfortable win, although would prefer the simple win!

I do not think personally that we will win title and think the best we may do is 3rd, with Chelsea and City above us, but in saying that I would be over the moon and I think we all would! To compete with best again and be able to attract players again that we currently lose out on, and not having to pay over odds as non champions league football comes at an extra price of having to persuade good players to come rather than have them flocking to join!

GOOD DAYS!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

These are the games we`ll have to win on the road if we want to be top 4 and/or win the league. At this point of the season, style doesn`t matter, POINTS DO!

Oh and before I forget I do not want to see Toure playing defence again that was a shambles!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

A bit harsh. He made a mistake initially but did ok after that.

Agree0 Disagree0

He kind of made up for it by taking Phil Dowd out. I always have a bad feeling when he refs our games

Agree0 Disagree0

There was a bubble on the pitch before he tried to clear the ball. It looks bad now BUT let`s support him. Gerrard and Carra have had their share of own goals and blunders but we stuck w/ them. Let`s show Kolo the same courtesy and support.

Again all that matters are the three points very very very well done I thought we had drawn this match . I cried when stevia put the pen in and I refused to eat, then I felt such relief and now we can learn from this mistake.
Stevie you are fabulous.
Stressful!

Edd 2 just like your opinion on wether or not you can see Liverpool finishing higher than 4th? Either way like to hear your opinion on Liverpools season in general, do u think we are punching above our weight or are good enough to be in the position we are in? If uve time thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has been playing very well this season and with the teams above them all dropping points there is a chance. As I said before the season started I think they will end up fighting over the lower European slots (4th and 5th) - so I will stick with that.}

Cheers ed, will chelsea win the league? :)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I will stick with my original view that Manchester City will win it.}

The only team to stop Liverpool from finishing above 4th is Liverpool I think. we need to stop giving away silly goals and all that

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed has said that all season and we`ve been brilliant. So I suggest we leave his prediction as is and not jinx it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Indeed we do need to stop the silly goals, Sami come back to us! Chrz ed I don't think city will do thigh I feel their going to be left wanting.

Massive result, such relief lads! Was really happy to see Danny agger come on, having him fit for the last run in is massive for us, a real boost IMO edd 1 what do you reckon will he tighten up our defence well at least not be conceding so easily? He'd never have made the two howlers toure has.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Feb 2014 00:38:21
Echoing what others have said, that was the sort of game we would have dropped stupid points in, for going back a few years now.

Nice to see the team believing it can win right to the end: that's why I support Liverpool - never say die.

Good times.

;0)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That`s credit to BR for trying to win the game instead of settling for a point. It takes bravery to do that and he has it by the buckets. Take a bow, BR!

I guarantee ozone was half way through typing a massive rant about how the owners should of bought us yevhen & how bad Rodgers is & how (knowing his veiws) toure, ally & flanno should be strung up. My second thought after sh1t we have a penalty was about ozone deleting said rant.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think daveyboyblue had to throw away his match review too

Ozone and his clueless side kick, Waro have been AWOL since we thumped the arsenal and beat fulham. Their conspiracy theories and rooting for our beloved club`s failure have made them crazy and paranoid. They should bury their heads in shame.

I really think that if we make champions league that we need an upgrade on mignolet.I don't think the defence have confidence in him along with me.What your opinion on him ed001

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he is still young for a keeper, plenty of time to work on his game, but he does lack decisiveness and his distribution is not good.}

Distribution is awful. Ed's I've assumed that Reina's career is over at Liverpool, is that the case?. How has his season been and

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You can reasonably expect Reina to be sold in the summer.}

Either way reina would also be good competition for mignolet. for the second goal mignolet should have came out. flano has a weakness and that's contesting for headers he must have won zero against fulham and richards and holtby aren't tall.

Agree0 Disagree0

Reina is the PAST and should stay there. Migs is young and will learn or he`ll be gone as well. He needs to work on his game and be more commanding of his area especially on crosses and set-pieces.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought he should have come flying out for their second but instead spred himself and came out half harted. great shot stopper but struggles in every other aspect of his game. i'd give him another season though

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Feb 2014 23:03:49
He doesn't struggle at every other aspect of his game. That is complete nonsense.

He will keep improving, he has fantastic reflexes, fantastic 1 on 1's and has brilliant handling, great hight and jumping and his distribution is getting better if you care to notice on such small details.

His only weakness is his comand of the area and communication but he is a giant and with time and confidence will improve a lot on that as well. Keepers don't reach their peek until they are 27-28. Reina is so injury prone that he is begining to loose his peek.
