Evening eds do you think spurs were wrong to let Harry go? After all they were a team that just made the numbers up before he went there,bit of a gamble lettin him go big player exodus now maybe vdv bale modric adibior an others.hopefully 1 less team to finish above us next year!
Thanks
Kp {Ed001's Note - no, he was lucky to have a job for so long with his constant spouting off to the media.}

Maybe we could have held out for Redknapp, his wheeler dealing's could have come in handy! Forth place and still no job at the end it, that's harsh!!!

hey edds sorry but its a harry redknapp question wats with the big fall out why has he left or been sacked cheers

mike {Ed001's Note - he was sacked because he wasn't that good, he managed to destroy a team waltzing away with 3rd place and make them barely gain 4th. His constant touting himself in the media annoyed the board, especially as he blatantly begged for the England job.}

As a spurs fan well said that ed, I would say 75% of us are very happy at the moment

Certainly, he has still done alright for the club, right? Anyone remember Juande Ramos?

13 Jun 2012 21:55:01
Ed I have a feeling we are going to be looking at the south american market, could you explain to me where they currently are in their seasons? are they still playing and if not is scouting there for BR now going to be impossible?
RNred {Ed001's Note - I have no idea sorry, they have two seasons, an apertura and a clausura, opening and closing, in most countries. In Brazil, they have regional championships and then a national one.}

And 2 south american cup competitions which always seem to be running(Libertadores and Sudamericana). I'm watching Santos and Corinthians as i type this.

13 Jun 2012 21:37:31
eds as i understand there are many stipulations on loans especially between teams in the same league. Could you give an outline or link a site where i could brush up on this as my mate said something that confused me greatly on this subject.

ShaneK Lfc {Ed001's Note - try the FA.com. Their handbook includes the full rules.}

13 Jun 2012 22:38:58
Thought I'll try something different,I want fans to reply not the eds,would you of preferred us waiting and possibly getting redknapp or are you happy with a young manager in Brendan rodgers? Cheers Liam1892

I'd take Rodgers
Red Greco

I would never want Redknapp at Liverpool he just sems to bring trouble or bankrupcy normally both. We got our man and i think it is a good appointment

I can't stand Harry. I'd rather Rodgers.

Like Rodgers but I hope he doesn't target Swansea standard players no disrespect

Rodgers

Rodgers for me!

Ferguson tops the list of managers I would detest at LFC. A two-way tie for second is Moyes and Redknapp, Can't stand any of them. I would actually want Hodgson back before Redknapp.

LIVERPRES

Rodgers! 100%! He was my first choice when we were all speculating on the list of targets the club had, and i'm very happy that it's come about. No club should have Harry in charge, he's a knobatron.

Red7.

Sly and Jim White in particular must be absolutely bricking it. How on earth will they fill their 24 hour craporama on deadline day without speculating on who 'Arry is going to shock us with this time?

AD

Id rather have woy over redknapp. Atleast he did not whore himself to the media n beg for that stupid english national coach job.

13 Jun 2012 22:31:35
hello ed when do you expect the new iphone?

13 Jun 2012 22:24:41
Instead of spending all this money on English players we should go for players at a cheaper price with resale value, for example:

IN:
Elia-7mil-unwanted therefore cheap skilful winger
Wanyama-7mil-young 20 year old to play cb or cm
Sigurdson-7mil-quality and prem proven
Kjaer-8mil-great partnership with Agger if Skrtel Is o leave
De Jong-13mil-young proven goal scorer with great potential
Hoilett/Kalou-free-strike and wing cover
Diame-free-defensive midfield cover

All with great potential and lots to add to the squad and at 42mil with 6/7 players added it would hugely improve our chances of champions league

1 of Munian or Ramirez plus 1 of sigardson susaeta or tello plus 1 of soldado de Jong or hooper and Diame as cover for lucus which will allow spearing to leave

Skrtel will not leave.

13 Jun 2012 22:23:15
In my opinion if BR could be smart he would think about spurs uncertainty hearing that Redknapp is leaving and he could try doing quick deals and enquiries about lennon, caulker, dos santos and defoe. Obviously we wouldnt get all of these but I believe if we could get lennon and defoe it would be a massive statement for his intention.
P.S- I think spurs are making a big mistake in letting Redknapp go, maybe we have more of a chance now of getting into the top 4 and maybe one less team to deal with if modric, bale and lennon leave.

The club won't sell anyone until a new manager is appointed, then he'll list the players he wants out, if any. So if anything it'll make it harder to get players from them.

Levys seems to be pretty good at extracting top dollar out of his players, remember bent to Sunderland? Probably best to stay away

13 Jun 2012 22:22:32
Some LFC fans talking about Victor Wanyama of Celtic coming to your club. Some even said £2/£3m should get him...
This young guy is destined to be a great player, Celtic will only start thinking about selling once bidding starts at £8m+ plus add ons.. Timalloy

You have to give Celtic credit for assembling such a great young team with a small budget

Victor wonabehere at lfc sorry tim

Eds, why does everyone seem to think fsg don't know what they are doing?
Now, I admit I've not researched the subject deeply, but it's my understanding that FSG have ALOT of money. The fact that they aren't spending it doesn't mean that they don't have it or that they don't want success. To me what the club needs more than ever is discipline. If we can discipline ourselves financially, stability will follow and with stability comes success. So what it may take a few years, but FSG are smart enough to know that the club won't end tomorrow. They can develop the club better by spreading out their investment rather than haemorrhaging huge cash amounts every off-season.

That's just my thoughts, I'd be happy to hear others.

Yes mate they have money.
Not arab amounts and they are very smart with it,but and it is a but they would not be at lfc if they didnt mean buisness.
Im over here in the states i dont have contacts as such and im far from in the know but my friends who know a lot about how stuff happens here keep saying to me expect something big, they will eather sell or go for gold.

martin p

May be i am wrong but i think the owners first job is to make sure that their investment does not lose money and it will be great if we win things , look at arsenal when they were winning things they were not making money but now they make millions every year and sell their best players at big profits do the owners of arsenal care about not winning cups etc now that they are up there with the rich clubs.i think fsg may be a bit concerned about the fact that the reason they bought lfc besides getting the club on the cheap was the fair play rules regarding the financial arrangements for clubs i think they know now that this will never happen due to the ways the arrangements can be twisted ie man citys sponsership of the stadium they play in. all this does not mean we should not respect fsg but may be we should be more realaistic and support them .
red mick tag .ynwa

A simple truth is that American Ceo's and executives are more concerned with 'share price".
Now we are not a public company, but 'estimated brand value' will be of vital importance to FSG.
What remains to be seen is if they are in the business for the long run, or to make a quick profit.
I personally doubt that it is for the "long run"!!.

miguel veloso what can you tell me about him fellow reds and eds a reporter on irish radio said that he will sign for liverpool after the euros think he said he was a midfield player is he any good-Micky

Defensive Midfielder, Portuguese, plays for Genoa. Quite a good ball player, but mostly a very aggressive defender that can get forward quite well when he feels the need. Only seen him play... 6-8 times i suppose, but he seems a very composed type of player. Don't know whether we'd see him coming here but he is a good footballer.

Red7.

AND, watching replay of DEN-POR right now so make that 7-9 times, He looked quite good in this match too didn't he? Passing from deep looked good. Still very doubtful he's a target though...

I don't see why that would be hard to believe. He may well have a good season, a bit of ball work in training, just so he speeds up his decision making and i think he'll be set.

Eds. Thought that Danish number 5 - Agger was he called?, played a blinder. Any chance we'll sign him in the summer?

He already plays for Liverpool.

Cheerio

Part of the defence that let in 3 goals? Surely you mean a shocker

To be fair to Agger, Kjaer has been off his game since the pre euro friendlies

Hey ed's?

Just wondering if Marco Reus would be a viable option for Liverpool? If so would he be a good signing and would he be expensive?

Thanks

R@ {Ed002's Note - Not an option.}

How come ed?

Thanks

R@ {Ed002's Note - He is joining Dortmund.}

Lose Kagawa, gain Reus... They're just going from strength to strength that club, Reus will have a blinding season is my tip... well, another one anyway.

13 Jun 2012 21:58:48
Don't know why no one is mentioning it but I think Nicklas Bendtner would be a great signing for Liverpool. He has done well for Sunderland towards the end of the season and he has also played well during the Euros. All the Danes who have come to Liverpool have done well appart from Poulsen so why not make a cheeky bid for him?

Why would ye? that would big a step back not fit to wear the red of liverpool not big club player.

I sense a manc/bitter wind-up merchant.

Oh for flip sake...We have got Carroll, who would score more than him, and they are both similar players...

Because he is soo inconsistent and has a massive ego. i think he should be better. he is quick, has some skill, is strong and good in the air but his finishing is aweful. he also misses important oppertunity's. has a negative effect on things and just isn't good enough.

Don't forget Torben Piechnik mate, he was terrible.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

No one mentioning bentdner? are you taking the piss? either your too lazy to scroll down the page or your doing this deliberately! this has been mentioned loads, and been groaned at and met with distain by most! so please, stop with the stupidity!

It has been mentioned, and no one wants him

Because one game doesn't mean he is good. That is why.

Please please ban the use of the expression 'cheeky bid' on this site. what nonsense

Igor biscan comes to mind as well Blair.MATTYLFC

there wont be much player movement for a while BR is only in de door and will have to take a bit of time to sus out out what we have and dont have might have been better if he had come in earlier so he could have worked out who he'd wanted to keep and get rid of
also if Luis is moved on any ideas who would replace him

And just how much earlier would you have liked that to be? We signed him pretty quickly and the full squad won't even be together for the best part of a month. Luis ain't leavin' either.

Hi Eds. Would Dumbia be available. And at what price. Looks a class player. Great site by the way
Damo {Ed002's Note - There was an enquiry from Newcastle and a failed offer from Lazio in January for Doumbia. Other clubs have had scouts at games but that is some way from making any serious enquiries for the player. Doumbia does a good job of talking himself up and CSKA will likely want £25M or so for the player as there is no pressure to sell. Napoli, Roma and Arsenal are interested in the player but have yet to make any financial proposal and rumours persist of interest from Chelsea and Spurs. Someone putting a bid on the table will make this much more high profile - and it could be one that drags on all summer.}

13 Jun 2012 21:10:14
I was wondering are the training rules regarding U18's just in the Premier League?...because you had the likes of Oxlade-Chamberlain playing week in week out when he was 17, Powell also playing a lot of games and Rooney getting over 30 appearances for two seasons under 18.

GuvTOB
{Ed002's Note - The rules have changed since Rooney was that age and there is not the time or space to list them here. But there are limitations on training time, there are schooling provisions, etc..}

More stupid rules, I mean, you'd never guess Roony missed any schooling would you?

13 Jun 2012 20:44:01
Do people actually read the posts before posting themselves because most of the time people repeat what everyone else has said just before them! Surely you eds get fed up of repeating yourselves?!

Personally I think we need to buy 5 players including LB,CM,RM,LM,ST

Personally I would go for the following
Boudebouz
Sigurdsson
Soldado
Cissoko
Tello
Personally I think these players could make LFC a real force next season as they are all mid twentys with great potential and current ability and they woudnt demand ridiculous wages like what some unrealistic fans are suggesting!
Keep up the great work! YNWA

Quick Question about the EUROS,

What happens if Germany win all 3 and Holland beet Portugal next game that would leave 3 teams on 3 points who would go through?

Goal difference followed by goal scored followed by head to head i think.

Goal difference between matches drawn I think ?

Evening eds fellow reds . Did I dream it or we're Liverpool asking after mario Gomez in January ? If so is there still interest .cheers psv {Ed002's Note - Dreaming.}

It was the year before mate we tried loaning him but they refused and we end up signing caroll

So carroll can be our gomez. if memory serves me he wasn't doing the stuff for munich until his second season so it takes time.

If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group matches, the following criteria are applied, in the order given; to determine the rankings:

a) higher number of points obtained in the matches among the teams in question; ie their results against Germany will not count

b) superior goal difference in the matches among the teams in question (if more than two teams finish equal on points); ie their goals for/against Germany will not count

c) higher number of goals scored in the matches among the teams in question (if more than two teams finish equal on points); ie their goals for/against Germany will not count

d) superior goal difference in all the group matches;

e) higher number of goals scored in all the group matches;

f) position in the UEFA national team coefficient ranking system;

g) fair play conduct of the teams (final tournament);

h) drawing of lots.

Roy

At the same time (Jan 2011) We offered ~ 35m Euros for him and his club refused, its only then we approached Newcastle for Carroll.

Roy

I know we have no chance of signing him....but eds what does the future hold for Wesley Sneijder? Is he on the move this summer would hate to see him at Man Utd! {Ed002's Note - Anzhi, Manchester United or Spartak Moscow will be Sneijder's possible destinations this summer.}

13 Jun 2012 20:22:21
Eds, do you think that it about time we take a big gamble, I mean everything we've tried for the past 20 years hasn't work, maybe it is about time we just give it all, it is make or break time, now or never. How about we double any amount that any team asks for their players, like 30m+ for Johnson, surely they wouldn't say no. We should even consider going back to Ajax and give them more money for Suarez, I mean that guy is worth about $60m. We are nice, and no clue about business, its the Liverpool way!

If the Americans don't give BR $500m, I will surely consider supporting Man U. I mean what is there to live for?

xk

{Ed006's Note - So a team asks us £15m for a player and we just say, I'll tell you what have £30m instead! You must be crazy. Go and support Manchester United, have a lovely time.}

Long time reader, 1st time poster.

This is my take on things...

Kenny spent over 100m last season and we finished 8th. Id love to get rid of Carroll, Downing, Adam, Coates and Henderson but nobody would want them until at least January so we are stuck with them.

There's a lot of talk about Johnson, Reina, Skertel, Agger and Suarez leaving. That would be a disaster. They are our 5 best players and if they leave we are doomed.

Gerrard and Carragher's carrers are coming to an end, Jamie wasnt picked much last season, When he was, He cost us about 13 points. Gerrard was injured to much to comment on his season, Played a handful of games, Had bout 2-3 good games. Wont play much next season.

Will Lucas come back to the player he was?

Brendan Rodgers wasnt my 1st choice. Fair enough Laudrup, De Boer, Klopp, Martinez etc turned us down, What im saying is Rodgers is not good enough for us... He was a disaster at Watford, Sacked by reading and by the time he took over at Swansea, Swansea were already playing that type of football thanks to Martinez and Sousa. Rodgers didnt improve that team and i hope im wrong but he wont improve us. If Kenny cant get the best out of us then what hope does Rodgers have?

You might all slate me for this but its the truth, I want the best for our club...

We are been linked with the following players... De Jong ( The next Ryan Babel) Moses, Diame, Bendtner, Sigurdsson, Caulker and Wanyama. At the end of the day, They are not LFC quality, They will not improve our 1st 11 and thats what we need.

Arsenal have Podolski, Giroud in the bag and possibly M'Vila. Chelsea have Hazard, Marvin and maybe Hulk. United Have Kagawa, Powell (England International in 3 years) and possibly Modric, Willems, Clyne and Lewandowski. No doubt Spurs and Newcastle will improve their squads...

How can we possibly get Champions League football when we are been linked with such terrible players? Rejects, Free transfers and to be honest they are just not good enough to wear our jersey

It baffles me, People on here are wearing Liverpool tinted glasses, Am i the only 1 who realises that Breandan Rodgers is not the man to get us back into the Champions League where we belong?

My faith is really starting to go

Ive been supporting this club over 53 years. The past 7-8 years we are just getting worse.

Its simply not acceptable.

Eric O' Brien, Dublin.

"Liverpool tinted glasses" what the hell are they?

JRG

Bye Eric

Chris in Tamworth

Over 53 years, making you over 60 right?

Yet for all your life experience you simply have no clue about football. You'd sell everyone who's young with potential and buy who? You say Powell will be an England player in three years, yet Henderson and Carroll are now. Willems isn't look the wonder kid tonight and Marin didn't even make the German squad. Podolski looks and has always looked average to me.

The other players you mentioned are just linked. I could happily list some players linked to LFC to cheer you up, but frankly nobody really knows who were buying, especially not you.

Who would you have us buy, I'd imagine 100 millions worth and double the wage bill.

Frankly I'm glad you are just an ill educated fan and not involved any further with the club.

Papa G

Grow up Chris, The lad is intitled to his opinion just the same as you or me. Ludo.

''Chris''

The lads first time posting and you say ''bye eric'' no need, We all have an opinion.

At last, a positive poster, looking on the bright side, glad you don't post more often Eric, I'd be suicidal!

Jimbo.

The "lad" is at least 55 and his first post is to add to the whingers comments that we have to put up with on a daily basis.
We are a massive club but anybody who thinks we have a divine right to be in the champions league is talking like a tit. We are where we are and the sooner people accept that the better.

Chris in Tamworth

FSG asked De Boer & Klopp if they were interested, they said no, do you blame them? BVB have won the title two years on the trot, have an 80,000 seat stadium & look set for the future. and Ajax is, well Ajax. I feel bad that at your age you still see the glass as half empty.

an american red

Eric id like to know how you think rodgers took over a winning team with souza they were struggling souza had a 31% win rate hence the reason swansea parted company with him martinez didnt get swansea promoted in his 2 years there if what your saying is right they should have all ready been up before rodgers got there ask any swansea fan rodgers took them to the next level so there is no way in hell you can say he didnt improve them dont know if you have watched swansea under him he made them a great team to watch you need to chill out most of your venom comes down to the fact a few other clubs have signed players and we have not give it time see where we are by the start of the season then complain

I wanted laudrup. But as a real supporter, I will back Brendan with the best of my ability. Carroll will become a monster once again, Gomez and llorente were not even half the player Carroll was at age 23 now look at them. Hendo is CLASS. He was a super midfielder at Sunderland playing as a cam, but with other central midfield positions covered by other midfielders, he plays outwide and still came out with 2 goals and 1 assist.
Reina has been terrible, and if anyone has lost us 13 points, it's Enrique. Whenever a club and international legend is fit, he will play no matter which club.

I would think after 53 years of supporting the club, you would know a little something about football.
AnfieldUSA

Eric, I understand what you posting and agree with some of it, I am not optimistic about next season either, but have no choice but to be patient , give BR the support he needs and see what happens.
And Chris; you whinge as much as anyone on here girl, most of you whinging last season was valid, i agreed with most of it, and I think Eric's just as Valid
Lets give everyone a chance to express their concerns and views.
Roy

You have absolutely no idea how Rodgers will turn out. Nobody does. His past means nothing.

Do you know that Dortmund hired Klopp after he had just gotten his team relegated?

So why don't you give Rodgers a chance?

Do you really think we will finish worse than 8th next season?

13 Jun 2012 20:16:04
Hi people just had a week away in Spain with the parents of Stewart downing my parents and his have been drinking buddy's for a long time 20 years I tries to get as much out of his farther as possible but I think this season people are going to find out about fsg the hard way Stewart's spoke a few times to br about the future team tactics training and from what he's picked us is fsg have asked br to work with what he's got he can only buy a player if one is sold due to lack of champions league football and the losses last year the money from warrior has been used to balance the books so all this hype about this player and that player isn't going to happen,also BR has been told to reduce the wage bill by 25 percent this year and a further 10 the next

If this is true mate. If I were BR, I would have told FSG to stick their job, were the sun dosnt shine.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

If Steven Gerrard does not know who is coming or what the budget I very doubt Stewart Downing will so get back to your own website son.

Considering BR as nt even stepped foot on the training ground and all players are away since his appointment, players dont know what go's on, let alone their parents, so this is pure BS.
Lee73

Firstly, take a breath. Or at least learn to add a full stop.

Secondly stop spouting garbage.

Downing would be away on holiday when BR was appointed, now he's away with England. How on earth would he know all of this, really who would tell him. Even if he was around I doubt John Henry would cll big Stew in and divulge our transfer plans and wage policy.

Stop scare mongering.

Papa G

Papa g didn't you know the first thing brendan did when he took over was ask for downing's number so he could keep him updated through the euro's about wage's and transfer budget's he wanted to make sure downing was ok with it after his excellent first season at lfc he wouldn't want to upset our star player downing in case he put in a transfer request to get his dream move to barcelona or real madrid lol

We come 8th in the league and now they want to get back into top 4 without spending any money and cutting the wage bill. They see BR as a good manager not a miracle worker. FSG will know they need to invest more to get back into top 4.

Well here's a start - Sell Downing - not good enough or big enough to play for Liverpool

I'd rather have neither if i'm honest. why not give shelvey more gametime instead ? of course we can also buy good wingers and strikers too.

I heard we are keeping a close eye on Andriy Voronin as we want to bring him back to bulk up our attacking threat, any news?

Emile Heskey's is on the same list - for programme sellers!

Everyone seems to come up with random names, and some of the poster here seem to be dealing with some man-love issues.

I truly think we should sneakingly sign Ed002, and we should do so so before Chelsea do. I think Ed002 would be great since we all know that Gerrard is going over to Everton next week.

What do do you think eds??

Hey Ed(s) I am a newcomer to this site.

Do you think that rodolfo borrell will take up the assistant manager role or will they hire a new one?

Irishfolk YNWA {Ed002's Note - I really don't know - Rodgers will be bringing staff with him.}

Hey ed's,great site..,I know its a rumours site but don't worry,my dads uncles sisters son doesn't know who were signing,I didn't get any info from the girl I know who cuts Steven gerrards toenails or anything,all is it is 1 question,...in your opinion,do u think the likes of sterling and other youngsters will get more of a chance to shine next season? {Ed016's Note - We will be challenging on a few fronts next season, Europa, Carling cup, Prem and FA so yes, I think there will be plenty of games for the youngsters who got a few chances last year to play more. I am hoping to see Suso get a start personally. Also the NextGen was a joy to watch last season, if you didn't get a chance to watch it I would highly recommend it. }

MOTDF will be upon us now with the Bentdner rumours.
He is still cack people, dont be fooled.

At the risk of being massacred. I stuck a fiver on him being the top scorer at 180-1.

Ask yourself. Is it because I know nothing? Or is it because I knew something?

BJH YNWA

ps - even if he doesn't score another - I feel he justified my faith in him at those odds - My bet was also based on my conviction that the Dutch and Portuguese are pretty rubbish - and that the Danes could escape the group.

Why can we not borrow money against future ticket sales esp if we are getting a stadium capacity increase?

We need a massive spending spree NOW! The only way we can compete with City is to offer massive wages and transfer fees.

If we withold tax payments for a few years this would give us additional funds with which to build the squad.

If HRMC get wind offer them a penny in the pound on unpaid debt.

MASTER PLAN

Sounds like the master plan for Bankruptcy {Ed016's Note - Borrowing against assets is what got us into that massive mess in the first place}

Well the plan worked for Rangers ........Doh

I hope that is sarcasm

Worked well for Leeds also. Are you Peter Ridsdale?

It's a real shame ed002 that some people spew abuse towards you and other eds it makes no sense to me if they don't like what they read they should leave the site simple, have you eds thought about doing a sign up thing a bit like the members area on the player profile site? Then if abuse is given they can be banned? Top site

Square tomato {Ed002's Note - We try and filter out those making trouble and are looking at ways to resolve a number of issues.}

The problem is that no one wants bad news

Unless Ed002 is going to say that the royalty of football is joining LFC which of course they are not then abuse is going to follow unfortunately.

Its a no win situation as if you say the royalty of football are joining LFC and they don't well it does not bear thinking about!

If it is true about Tello being offered to us for 7 million, I think it would be a good piece of business.
Also do you think Soldado is a realistic target?
Finally I would love to see Xabi Alonso back at the club, is it looking likely he may return in the next few seasons, he would fit perfectly with BR's style of football.
Thanks Ed's great site
L.F.C_Viz {Ed002's Note - Certainly Liverpool have shown some interest in Soldado as have Napoli, Milan and PSG. At about 25M euro or more Soldado would not be cheap but I think he would be a great option if he could be lured to Anfield.}

Doumbia 25mil or Luuk de Jong 15mil

i'm getting a little annoyed with people saying we're not going to do any business until after the Euros. Why? It hasnt stopped Arsenal or Man United. Arsenal are tying up a deal with a player at the friggin' Euros for goodness sake. We'll only get hammered up on proce if we wait until afterwards.
Love the way Laudrup is now in pole position for Swansea job - had no interest in liverpool did he....

13 Jun 2012 16:50:25
Just seen on Twitter AA could go for free? Just waiting on the LFC board to agree. Total farce of a signing that guy, pissed us about and those s**te Italian clubs, we should never do business we them again, all corrupt! Ed what's your opinion on the matter?
Lee73 {Ed002's Note - Liverpool need to cut their ties with the player and perhaps should accept the offer that is on the table from Milan. If however that has been rejected, cancelling his contract may be an option - but it seems unlikely to me.}

Just get shot of him and take the loss on the chin. If we have to give him away then so be it. Just get rid and draw a line under it. RED LENIN

Take him out the back of Anfield, put him against the nearest wall and shoot him. Thats what Lenin would have done.

We can't just get rid of him. We have to pay out the remaining 2 years of his contract.

Why does people want Alonso you know he's the wrong side of 30

And during his time at LFC he only played well for 20% of his time there, one good season in 5.

He played a few and i don't care what age he is he was the "lynchpin" in madrids midfield

13 Jun 2012 15:59:37
Why are we buying Sigurdsson, he's basically the same as Henderson?

Henderson: 2 goals in 48; Sigurdsson: 7 goals in 19. I think we just want to get more goals out of the midfield- perhaps something Adam, rather than Henderson, was supposed to provide us (in addition to his passing game).

DP

Sigurrdson is basically an AM whereas Henderson is a player who can play all the three midfield positions to some extent, but is best in a more deeper role than what Sigurrdson generally plays.

Hes better than henderson.We need more competition in that midfield cause adam and spearing cant cut it and gerrard aint exactly getting any younger so he will need more rest during the season.

FFS - stop comparing Henderson's stats etc until he's played in the position he was bought for, Give the lad a chance, he's a little fish in a big sea at LFC, not like Sigurdsson at Swansea who was a big fish in a little sea.

I think Charlie Adam, not Jordan Henderson, will have more to worry about if Sigurdsson signs

RedSG

Hendo is a workhorse he will be box to box midfielder. sigurdsson will play in the advanced role

Don't be ignorant to what I wrote, I wasn't just comparing stats. I was making the very valid point that Sigurdsson is a goalscorer and Henderson is not. Do you think we'd see Henderson hit that kind of goalscoring if he was played in his 'preferred position'? You're seriously deluded if you do, and clearly don't have a clue as to what type of player he is.

DP

We need someone who can deliver next season. Henderson may come good, but he needs to get better by coming off the bench as a sub. Cannot afford passengers right now.

hey ed do you know if we are linked with any one from south america, like the likes of lucas or a new neymar,love to see a couple of players like this, what do you think or know. {Ed002's Note - There have been players watched but an attempt to discuss the matter set the vegetables spewing hate at me last week.}

Ed002 to the best of your knowledge who have Liverpool been watching on that side of the globe? {Ed002's Note - It is not worth the associated grief to talk of any South American players. After spending some time with two people from the scouting side of the club last week, I got as far as giving one name and there was a bunch of abuse. So we are done with that side of things.}

A new neymar lol what's wrong with the 'old' one?

Ed, it might be time to get people to sign up with an email and signature mate - that may deter the whiners, haters and trolls, keep the regulars and legit posters and would make it easier to ban the muppets? Aint it funny Kenny always had a go at the media gave the jurnos little info snapped at them when asked a question. Now look who the mirrors new sports writer is i hope he has to interview a manager who treats him the same way.

I doubt very much as a columnist that he'll be required to interview anyone although I am surprised to see him writing for that rag after their treatment of the club over the past 12 months.

Still, it's not the worst choice he could have made

From scaouring through all of the rumours it actually doesnt look like we are looking at any influential players. I guess we are relying on BR's tactical approach to win us games?? I'm not convinced that the players have the technical abaility to transform into that style. Personally i would bring in the likes of Cambiasso etc to instill a technique culture for the younger players??

Liverpool Ins And Outs;

In;
Gylfi Sigurdsson-7 Million
Burak Yilmaz-5 Million
Markel Susaeta-6 Million
Eljero Elia-7 Million
Mohamed Diame-Free

Out;

Charlie Adam-5 Million
Stewart Downing-8 Million
Alberto Aquilani-6 Million
Dirk Kuyt-1 Million
Jay Spearing-2 Million
Glen Johnson-13 Million

Think that would not get us in the 15

I very much doubt we will be signing such average players apart from susaeta n sigurdsson. Soldado instead of yilmaz, clasie instead of diame will be better. Elia is worse than walcott.
Indian Buzzer

Downing is not going to leave either need squad players like him

13 Jun 2012 14:45:40
Kuyt has gone, Maxi could possibly be out also, and Joe Cole and Aquilani too.

Replacements I expect are:

2 from Muniain/Afellay/Granero/Dzagoev

Soldado

Sigurdsson

These are all realistic targets and they have all been rumoured. Also they would all fit into the BR system very well indeed. Not saying they are nailed on but they are very realistic......Fingers crossed

Thanks

Eds, Ed and Eddy

It seems that Spurs will most likely sign Siem de Jongh, does that mean his brother luuk will be set to join him at spurs?

Also, last season I saw Charlie Adam and Glen Johnson standing next to each other on the pitch, when I looked at the back of their shirts it said Adam Johnson! Does that mean Adam Johnson will come to liverpool?

Glenn Johnson has G. Johnson if im not mistaken? Adam G. Johnson it is.

ok we are not in cl,it s important but we have a beautiful project with solid owners and more of that WE ARE LIVERPOOL FC,the greatest club of the world,history,passion,fans,support,anfield,amazing fanbase...your club is my life!!i am not saying buy cavani,goetze but i am sure we can attract world class players!even falcao have sign for athletico last years,why?better than lfc for some fans?
Come back at anfield next years,i wish to see a great team,support rogers at 100%.

13 Jun 2012 14:32:00
To the guy that said there were no mistakes with any of last years transfers, if you could go back in time would you really do EXACTLY the same?

Elia instead of downing - £9m
Sissoko instead of adam - £15m
Diego Ribas - £6m
Enrique - £6m
Gaston Ramirez instead of henderson £15m
Coates - £7m

£58m

but we went for
downing - £20m
henderson - £18m
adam - £7m
enrique - £6m
coates - £7m
= £58m

Hold on a second there is hndsight.if i could i would go back in time and sign messi into the academy at the age of 4. that doesn't mean he would've been effective. elia has been crap,why you overrate him i don't know. stop crying the past is the past. we now look to the future which looks bright

David Villa and Ryad Boudebouz.

Can't see us making top four next year with all the clubs above us strengthening significantly. We were already some way off champions league spots however I fear we will be even further away now.
Chelsea- Hulk, Marin, Hazard
Man U- Kagawa
Arsenal- Podolski, Giroud
City- G.Ramirez looking likely
Liverpool- none as of yet...

5th Place at best next year; money talks

Your new sign off name is pessimistic Paul.

Don't worry mate we have signed a manager with one year's expereince and he's going to overcome the lack of funding and the lack of experience just how he's going to do that I'am not sure but there are some who know he can do it!

Man Utd have just signed Nick Powell!

I think they are all still only allowed to play 11 men (aside from Utd who can obviously field Howard Webb when available).

Hi eds, Question for you's, do we owe money on aqua from the transfer originally that we would have to pay off before we could sell him off? If so, could this be one of the reasons we are selling him so cheap? {Ed002's Note - Nothing is owed on Aquilani.}

13 Jun 2012 14:02:48
Aquilani is buying himself out of his liverpool contract which will make him a free agent.thank god.im not interested in players that dont wnt to put the shirt on myself.

13 Jun 2012 13:45:54
Hi eds

Great site, been reading for a few years now... I just wanted to ask why so many people want Elia, fair enough I did not really see him in Germany but have seen a few juve games and he just looks like a slower babel. Why do we want that.

Also do we really want kalou? I mean I have always found him ok but not really want we need. I know he is free but so was voronin.

Also I would like to get your thoughts on if you would let skertel go? And how much for? If man city offer us £15 mill I would bite there hand off. Skertel has had the best season since being here but I have always thought him as average. I have really been inspressed with Kjaer and agger so far and think if we could get him that would be solid...

Thank you and sorry for all the questions

Amin {Ed002's Note - I cannot answer why people want Elia. There is interest in Kalou from Schalke, Newcastle and Galatasaray. Previously Olympiakos approached Chelsea with an offer to take Kalou in January but the player has no interest in a move to Greece. Marseille did make an enquiry but the problem would be wages. If that could be resolved it could provide a solution that suits everyone. Interest from Liverpool is not out of the question.

If Skrtel wants to leave I would doubt that the club will stand in his way. Kjaer will move this summer - most probably to Roma but I am sure he will be open to other ideas.}

Because he had pace, skill and has a direct approach we need a real winger we don't have one. and downing is not a real winger he is too much on an sissy on the ball and has no confidence going past players.

13 Jun 2012 13:28:06
Folks, BR has been in situ for little over three weeks, and having spent one of those on holiday and yet the posts slating his "so called targets" are bordering on insanity.

To the best of my knowledge neither BR or anyone from the club have actually mentioned any names. targets or definate buys! This is coming from the press and the general media and you are all buying into it, come on people Nicklas Bendtner, really?

The club have returned to keeping things in house and as such as supporters we have to live with that. I am sure when there is news to tell they will tell us.

Whats more concerning is the way some fans have or are beginning to turn on BR because of these so called targets.........get a grip people, you support LFC. Also do you honestly think, FSG, an organisation built on success will spend the amount on LFC just to make us FAIL?, no neither do I.

So I would suggest you turn off you playstations and dream teams and sit back and be patient and wait and see what unfolds. You just never know we may be surprised with events at Anfield this year....and for f***s sake give the manager a little slack and time..T-Mac

Most sensible post I've seen for a while. Clearly a true red rather than some of the utter buffoons who post ill-informed gibberish on here. Well done sir.

Well said. Truth is neither the Eds or Newspapers can get much info out of Liverpool these days. Some fans need to stop believing everything in the press.

Gh*Lfc

I couldn't say it better than that. Quite simply, transfer talk obviously needs to be taken with a pinch of salt until we're told by the club. It's crazy how that can easily be overlooked in a lot of cases. Makes for good reading on here though!

Take cover.

It's 'grammar' :P

So you are complaining about grammar, whilst spelling the word itself incorrectly and using capital letters in the middle of sentences?

Slight hypocrisy:P

Im sure he was not complaining about grammar, i think you will find he was complaining about people like you who find the need to have a go at people because their grammar, and spelling and punctuation is bad like my punctuation is terrible but not every one finds the need to point out other people's faults to make them selves feel some how superior or smug in the knowledge they are better at something than someone else

Apparantly FC Sochaux striker Modibo Maiga is available for around £6m this summer.Given that Newcastle were so interested a while back until they went with 2nd option Cisse.Would he not be of interest to us?Seeing as the chief scout up there has very good knowledge of french based players,he may be worth a punt,ED'S what you think? {Ed002's Note - Maiga from Sochaux is attracting the attention of West Ham, Wigan and, again, Newcastle.}

Those teams who are linked show what level he is at (not ours).

Now I've never been a fan of England, I'm from Liverpool and consider my nationality to be more British than English but decided that this year I'd support them.

Why do sly try to always point out the negative, they are showing stats to show how s**te England are rather than the 1 stat that matters at this stage, they got a good point.

Is it that the media seem to have a pact not to crucify the team so they are trying a different approach to get everyone ton turn on them.

I only watch it for Olivia in truth, she lovely

P.s - they just had Danny Wellbeck & Jordan Henderson on interview - 2 villages must be missing idiots me thinks, lol

RedLee

Whats coming from liverpool got to do with not supporting england, heard some pathetic excuses for not wanting england to win, I know its freedom of speech n all but many a good scouse died fighting for this country, grandparents as such and this its how you repay them? your a disgrace! were from all over scousers in london cockneys in liverpool brummies in manchester mancs in brum but we all love our cities and towns, but to turn your nose up for what what our forfathers gave up then you should be ashamed!

I have no appetite for supporting England either, could never bring myself to cheer on JT, Lamps, Becks, et al.

It has nothing at all to do with fighting and unfortunately dying for your country get a grip!

Red Flag Flyer

Liverpool has traditionally been a crossroads for people of all nationalities, especially Irish and Welsh, so why can't a guy who has multinational roots support Liverpool and not be fussed about England - I would say that is an archetypal scouser! {Ed001's Note - Scouse not English, it is how a large proportion of people feel, including me. I would say I am British, not English. I hold a British passport, not an English one after all.}

I am an irishman and it is your choice whether or not to support your country. and for the poster to brand people a disgrace for not is actually a disgrace. who does he think he is ?

13 Jun 2012 13:07:33
if we sign Victor Wanyama the whole of Kenya will support Liverpool!
Don't know what he's like as a player but we need a back up for Lucas and not sure if the Diame move is still on.
People say that a right winger and a striker are the priorities and I agree. But CDM is should be third on the list. Spearing never came close to replacing Lucas and Spearing can't be considered a "kid" anymore.

No problem with your connections but lots of problems with your english

Hi Eds
Not a rumour, but an observation. Already we are getting posters on the site recommending players they have seen at the Euros. Good job BR isn't signing players based on what he has seen over 90 minutes!

13 Jun 2012 12:34:38
Eds, on a scale of 1-10, what are the chances of the following players to play for Liverpool next season:
Salomon Kalou
Adam Johnson
Iker Muniain
Eljero Elia
Daniel Sturridge {Ed002's Note - We are not going to do that - each of these players has been discussed at length - use the search function.}

13 Jun 2012 12:33:17
Brendan Rodgers will sign 3 players this transfer window, the first being Gylfi Sigurdsson at £6.8m, and the others will be either one of Gaston Ramirez(£16m) or Giovani dos Santos(£4m), and either of Luuk de Jong(£12.5m) or Burak Yılmaz(£5m).

I'd go with the cheaper options if I were you!

Absolutely.
Buy the cheaper ones, then we can get 4 players instead of 3 (2 strikers, we have to replace Kuyt anyway), at least that gives a few more alternatives.
I must say, it is a exciting time to be a LFC fan, there is a great deal of anticipation about.
I would like to see 2 new strikers, 1 or 2 wingers, some midfield creativity, and cover at the back.
So much will depend on the existing players, and if any of those are leaving.

Its all exciting though.

i cant understand where some of you get your so called info. since when have lfc come out and said how much they are going to spend in the tranfer window. where the hell has it been said we only got £20millon plus sales to spend. thats right nowhere. the owners will spend big if they think it is the right thing to do. they want to win and get us back to the top. thats why they brought the club. they want success and they will do what they need to do to get it. the papers dont have a clue whats going on at lfc so they make it up. we should all know that by now.

Thank you. Agree, agree, agree. (How many times am I allowed to hit that button?) In a news vacuum, fans just make crap up and then repeat it until it feels like fact.

JB

By bringing in BR they have no intentions of spending big.

Rogers has no experience of spending big.

Rogers is a manager who can wwork to a tight budget and guess what Rogers will have to spend that's it a tight budget!

Well said. it's like people who come on and ask about the same players several times a day, every day, inane and pointless. nobody knows who we will sign and as you inferred there is no budget, players are bought on their merit

I look at the way Rodgers sets up his team and wonder if we have most of the players to fit this system already. It may be a summer of outs more than ins.
GK Reina
CB Agger/Skrtel/Coates/Carra/Wisdom
FB Johnson/Enrique
DM Gerrard/Lucas/Hendo/Spearing/Coady
AM Cole/?Lucas in his old position in Brazil/?Adam pace an issue/ Suso/Texeira killed the reserves for Sporting playing exactly like Rodgers wants/ Shelvey/ ?Hendo
Wide forwards Suarez/Maxi/Bellers/?Downing/ Sterling/ Ibe
CF Carroll

I can see at least one CF, at least one wide forward and at least one AM coming in with some cover at full back over the next 3 transfer windows. And Adam, Downing leaving with Maxi, Bellers, Carroll, Cole and maybe Lucas leaving as replacements come in over the 3 windows.
I can't see Gerrard being dropped and he doesn't have the legs for the attacking positions any more so I think he will move into the deep playmaker position reading the game and keeping the play going. With Coady coming through and the system allowing Spearing to have more options for easy passes through into attacking areas, there may not be a role for Lucas. With no wingers Downing must be under threat and with no goals, assists and no real sign of any tactical or technical ability to open space and shift defences around I can't see a place for him. Adam is not quick enough for the attacking positions and I can see him leaving. The CF role is the priority as cover for Carroll is thin and he will need to work hard to fit into a pass and move system with no aerial balls into the box from wide areas. I expect a quick, clever forward with a decent physical presence to come in this summer and maybe an AM with other positions to be upgraded when the scouts can get and idea of what Rodgers wants for each position. I can see the youngsters being used a lot more this season as they will be quick to learn the system and have real quality to be the basis for a team for the next 10 years especially as this season is a low expectation transitional one for Rodgers.

Simon

I stopped reading when it said there may not be a role for Lucas.

Although Lucas is vastly over rated on this site he's a million times better than Spearing and it was our lack of a half decent replacement for Lucas (the replacement did not have to be a world beater) that cost us valuable points in the EPL.

Why did Kenny not get a low expectation transitional season? Aftwer all before Kenny took over we were at death's door metaphorically speaking.

Lucas is not overrated on this site, unnamed poster. He is one of the best cdms in the world, n thats a FACT.

General question to everyone, why is it that we (LFC) are always forced to pay more for the players we want (horrendouson, downing, carroll, etc) ?

Now its man citys turn to try and finacially rape us, they bought Johnson for £7m, he only starts 10 games a season but they want more than double what they paid for him even though hes older and no better than what he was when they signed him! Add to that that he WAS an England international fisrt pick when they signed him, now he cant even get in the squad AT ALL!

Am I the only one here thinking we're being shafted on this?

Why do you complain. we willl not go for him if its too much

Are sure you watch football or do you just flap your gob. Adam Johnson became a senior England international because he joined Manchester city. Stop whining and pay up, trust me after paying 35 million pounds for a hapless striker you should be jumping at the chance to pay 14 million for real quality like Adam Johnson. He's probably scored more goals anyways

Man City doing the "nasty" financially to LFC surely not?

I think your alone now, alone now, the only thing you can hear is the beating of your heart.

How many of the people on here raving about Sigurdsson would have been happy for us to sign him 12 months ago before he'd played a game for Swansea? I'd bet, if you are being honest, it would not be many of you. So stop with the big wishlists and let Brendan Rodgers find a few more of these gems. The Robster.

I saw him take us apart in the FA cup, so I for one would have been happy to sign him before he went to Germany.

Red Flag Flyer

I saw him play very well in the U21 European Championship for Iceland so I would have been happy to see in a Liverpool shirt.

I wouldn't rave about it but i definitely wouldn't have criticized it i think all players deserve a chance to play before we judge them. BR will work magic. he knows his system and the qualities each playing position needs inside out. he also needs time.

13 Jun 2012 12:04:20
I hope we can get Gaston Ramirez, Adam Johnson, Luuk De Jong and Momo Diame

13 Jun 2012 12:00:57
Hi ed(s) do you know roughly when BR will decide who his targets are? We already know one of his targets, just like to know a rough estimate when you guys would think he would have identified them. An excellent site by the way been addicted for years, even before the LFC rumours came out when it was just football-rumours.

Hey ED(s) apart from De Jong and i'm guessing Soldado, who else was likely to be offered a move to LFC during the Comolli and KK era?

South African YNWA {Ed002's Note - You mean if they had stayed? We knew where there was interest - in the likes of Luuk De Jong, Teofilo Gutierrez and Matt Phillips - but it would be guess work to say what offers would have been made.}

Thanks mate

13 Jun 2012 12:24:26
So let me get this right...

Reina, Skrtel, Agger, Johnson and Suarez are being linked with moves away and we are bing linked with players like Diame, Wanyama, Kalou, de Jong, Sigurdsson and Moses

Its not good enough, Not for a big club like LFC

Gerrard and Carragher are a year older and both of them didnt play much football last season through injury and selection

What has happened to our club?

Small manager = Lack of ambition and trying to sign small players and rejects

Im not looking forward to next season at all

Paul YNWA

You've made yourself look a fool. How on earth can you say Brendan Rodgers lacks ambition. Also, we haven't moved for anyone and no one has left yet. No need to panic.

At last someone who can read the writing on the wall.

Sacking Kenny was Stupid and for that I hope FSG get their reward.

Please read the post below... you ray of sunshine you... What proof do you have of anything you have written...

NextGenRed

Paul you should stop winging and buy the club yourself then you can appoint what manager you want to.

Best post ive seen on here in a very long time, Some people on here are delusional if they think we are going to sign world class players after Kenny wasting 100m on that lot last year and we finished 8th. Greg

Would you prefer us to spend £40m on unproven foreigners like hazard, kagawa and hulk?

So astride from a mass exodus of world class talent you also insult the next in a long line of liverpool managers.Brendan rogers is no mug,suarez is staying,and didnt we have the same corned beef over pepe stay pepe gone this time last year.The next thing youll be blowing hoops over the half time pie and how seriously lacking in meat it is.

I hope that anyone on here would rather sign Hazard, Hulk and kagawa. We say their unproven in premier league but look at silva, nasri, suarez, aguero, nani, cisse, ben arfa, the list goes on. And look at the players we brought last year, who all had premier league experience, they were awful as the jump from a small club to big was too big. Some times quality players can play good everywhere and just because aa player has premier league experience doesnt make them good or worth double the price.

You name some players who have succeeded so why don't i name a long line of ones who have failed.

13 Jun 2012 11:47:50
How on earth do people expect us to sign players when Rodgers is on holiday and his supposed technical team ( Who help will help him scrutinise transfers ) haven't even been appointed yet?

Plus after the mistakes of last year wouldnt you raather they take their time and get it right?

There were no mistakes in last years summer signings

Carroll should have been a beast of a player but it did not work out the reason for this are unknown but the wave of speculation is tidal.

Downing should have been much better than what he turned out to be again who knew thic could/would happen.

Enrique has played at a higher level for Newcastle then for Liverpool - should have worked out but didn't.

Coates and henderson were ones for the future.

Charlie adam never played like he did for blackpool even his corners were dire.

The king did what he thought best but it didn't work this happens ask Fergie the problem is that LFC do not have the resources of other clubs when transfer do not work out hence the appointment of Rogers who is seen as a mgr who can work on a small budget.

I am not saying they were all mistakes but some were, you can't deny that.
e.g Adam ( Good but overated),
Downing ,Carroll ( Good players but way overpriced )

I dont know why everyone gets on adam so much. ok he was pretty poor after lucas got injured but playing together they were good. i also think he will be suited to a '3' man midfield. i believe he ended the season as 2nd with assists despite being out injured for a significant amount of time

when/if we sign sigurdsson who do u think brendan rodgers will sign next?

Here's a few questions Ed, would be grateful for a response. After making massive losses in the last two years I wonder if Liverpool have a secure financial future...

Do the new kit/sponsorship deals significantly help a soften the blow of a loss of European football?

Is the Europa League any boost to finances at all?

After cleaning up most of Benitez/Hodgson's mess over a high wage bill has this helped save the club save significant money at all?

Also do you think FSG's vision of Liverpool as a self-sustaining business will happen anytime in the next 5 years?

Do you think Liverpool have enough money to even build a new stadium?

Appreciated

Gh*LFc {Ed002's Note - The new kit sponsorship deal will bring in an additional £12-£13M per annum and allow Liverpool to gain additional funds from other merchandising - assume perhaps £8M-£10M. Europa League football could bring in something of the order of £10M and obviously there have been reductions in the wage bill. Liverpool has responsible owners but it will still be a year or two before the club is trading on pretty much an even basis in terms of finances.}

Thanks very much ed002

Bang there goes Cavani then!

Transfers will be:
Kalou
Sigurdsson
Elia
Adam Johnson
Diame

We will sign these players or players of same positions and similar price. This overall would cost us only 223-27 million

You wont sign Adam johnson city want to keep him & doubt you could afford the transfer fee & his wages.
BLUE MOON.

£223 million seems a lot, although looking at our recent dealings in the transfer market nothing surprises me anymore!!

Whats the matter blue moon no one on the man city page just the usual tumbleweed blowing through their so you got to come on here and try get a dig in the oil barons wont be their for ever then your in trouble back down a division or 2 so enjoy it while it lasts

hi eds any chance of jordan rhodes? looks one for the future and with powell joining utd rhodes looks like the only other young english striker worth looking at {Ed022's Note - Very unlikely for Liverpool, although most other sides are looking at him.}

Thought rhodes was a scot?

13 Jun 2012 10:51:16
Seen a few posts on Jordy Clasie today Eds. Now I'm not sure if we're linked with him and I've never watched him play. But do you rate him? and how much? {Ed022's Note - I haven't seen him play.}

Reminds me of a more gifted Spearing.

A gifted spearing is there such a ting?

Plays like xavi, playmaker,tough tackling midfielder and very composed

I really hope we get A Johnson. He is better then any of the crap kenny bought or any players BR has been linked with. I mean Solomon Kalou is worse then kuyt and a player who could not get in to a ageing chelski side.

Is he really? Why was downing selected for England and he wasn't ? You are all blind he's overrated so much! He can't even start for city why are we liked with other teams scraps

We were targeting susaeta munian and soldado now we look to be after sturidge johnston sigardson and little diference in price 15 million for sturridge and johnston they are only worth about half

hope im wrong but rodgers seems to be doing the kenny last year buy decent players for massive prices

What kenny did was smart. he snapped up the young homegrown talent to avoid us getting caught in the scrambble for english players once the rules for homegrown players tighten up. kenny is a legend and always will be. i want you to say that kenny signed cr*p when carroll starts banging in the goals next season, or when hendo starts to become a really top player. kenny signed bellers on a free. he got enrique for a bargain. adam wasn't aweful until lucas was injured. kenny introduced sterling and gave shelvey a bit of game time. he signed coates. he signed suarez. he unselfishly risked his job in playing younger teams and a weaker 11 in the final games as it will benefit us in a few seasons time. everyone who supports liverpool should always have time for kenny.

Hi Eds/Macca/Fellow Reds

Before Kenny was sacked there was reports he was getting only a £20million kitty this summer, surely Rodgers would want/need more than that to have a realistic chance for a top 4 place....
Also heard read somewhere yesterday Sunderland had pulled out the race for Adam Johnson as City were not prepared to loan him out & subsidise half his wages & Spurs are also looking elsewhere now paving the way to a move to Liverpool, again only paper talk so I take it with a pinch of salt but here are some players within our budjet who I think we could land & would improve us greatly.

Adam Johnson £12-14million
Solamon Kalou £Free
Jordan Rhoades £5-6million
Jermaine Defoe or Luuk De Jong £10-12million
Gyfi Siggursson £7million
Junior Hoillet £Free

All these would be under £40million & if to be believed we have around £20million plus the money from Chelsea for Raul Merelias which was around £14million the with Dirk Kuyts money this would be a decent group of player to add to the young squad we have. {Ed002's Note - You think there is an envelope containing the money from Chelsea from a year ago. Liverpool made massive losses last season - there are not piles of cash just sitting around.}

To Eds I was just saying what Kenny said before he left, he was quoted as saying he still had the money from th RM move to Chelsea & I know we can't compete with the likes of City, United & Chelsea but surely £40million for the players mentioned would be realistic considering how much we have spent over the past year or so, I know we can't go out buying 5-6 £20million player but again I just thought these would be more realistic targets than the usual Hazard, Higuain, Villa, Alonso ect rumours we seem to see & give us a realistic chance of a top 4 spot. Just my humble opinion Eds & thanks for posting & replying...keep up the good work.

The envelope might have got wedged down Kenny's sofa and forgotten about after his sudden departure. Then found again !
Happens all the time.
I just hope that there wasn't a pizza crust in there as well.
The Real KB

Alot of average players there
1 of munian or ramirez
plus either susaeta or sigardson
if suarez is sold we should go for higuain although unlikely but do what we can to keep him
lukk de jong hooper or soldado

Don't think they are all average players, Defoe has scored goals wherever he's been, Kalou ok he's average but somehow has a nack of scoring goals & especially off the bench, something we've missed for a while, Johnson could really shine given regular football & Siggursson & Holliet have just had decent seasons, as for Rhodes people may say he's only been banging them in at lower levels but remember Rush & Aldridge came from Chester & Oxford & banged them in, just think it might be more realistic than the likes of Munian, Higuian ect until Champions League is obtained I think with the current young squad these could add something without costing the world

13 Jun 2012 09:44:28
Hi Eds?
BR had shown interest in these players before,do you think that he's still interested?
1)F.Borini.
2)G.Dos Santos.
3)J.Clasie.
4)R.Boudebouz.
5)G.Sigurdsson.

Thx,cheers. {Ed002's Note - We know of interest in Sigurdsson.}

We're you unsure of who you were about to ask the question to?

Myk

Ed is he the only player you know of confirmed interest since BR took over
thanks {Ed002's Note - Probably.}

I fear for the site Ed's,

I have been coming on to this site for a very long time and have posted on the odd occasion but I fear that a new community of haters is gaining momentum. Reading some of the replies some people get on here is like watching junior Trolls in the making. Ed's being slaughtered, poeple being disrespected for spelling or having just something to say. This is a fantastic site where information is shared and responed too, but some on here think they are LFC's number one fan and that all others don't matter. Banter is taken far too seriously by some individuals who I'm sure look at posts just to make a negative comment. Some posts are funny and many are unbelievable and there really is nothing wrong with that, thats why so many people come on from all around the world as that is what makes the site so addictive. The guys (Ed's) who keep this site running really do a great job without charging anything for their time so a big thank you from many of us who just enjoy the site. I would like to have one additional sub-section though and that is "Bandwagon" all those repetative posts with a twist and those who jump on disrespecting can have their own slice of heaven on their own page, meaning the other 99% who do enjoy can continue enjoying. I will get some of the haters replying but I'm big enough, I'm not at school or getting ready for bed or if I've spelt a word wrong I don't care and neither should the rest of you. Lets all start to enjoy this site again. Once again Ed's thanks for you time.

Do you believe gylfie will walk straight in to the team, If signed or stevie would still hold the mantle. Your thoughts?

Scouse ben

I don't know much about Gylfi admittedly but, what I've read on here, he's an attacking midfielder that plays in the hole.
I can't see Rodgers dropping Gerrard and we would still need defensive protection.
So I'm guessing centre spine would be :
Lucas
Gerrard
Gylfi
With two wide men added, that would leave Suarez up front on his own ?
The Real KB

No, that would make 3 up front with 2 good attacking midfielders behind them.

Maybe suarez moved wide, carroll up front?

Kaizer

Very similar to swansea then:
-Lucas or Adam Sits and passes the ball short like britton,
-Gerrard or Henderson move forward slightly like joe allen spreading the ball around.
-Sigurdsson or Joe Cole (if he stays) plays behind suarez.
-On wings either downing and maxi that is if maxi stays. ( Not saying there wont be any new players coming in)

Hmmmm but does this rule out carrol or will suarez go right.

I keep reading posts assuming skrtel is leaving. It would be crazy for BR to let him go after last season. Please can you tell me why everyone suspects he is off?

Wants to play Champions League football, possibly had his head turned by Man City who I think see him as a cheaper alternative to Thiago Silva.

He was outstanding last season but he always looks a better player when Agger is alongside him.

RedSG

So i see RedSG is just repeating what the eds have said.

hi eds all reds firstly , great site eds , addicted ! . secondly , eds , and ed005 the latest , saying they dont want to give names of players who we are interested in , because people will "blow their tops if its not cavani , hazard etc etrc". eds and 005 this morning , please , for those of us who have a realistic and open mind , which i belive is most lfc fans , please say who you know we are very close to or seriously interested in. you do a great job. thanks . steviep62. {Ed002's Note - You really need to keep up with the posts and much will depend upon the new managers assessment of the squad.}

Daniel Agger was Liverpool's top interceptor in last season's Barclays Premier League, according to Opta stats.

Last season Liverpoolfc.tv signed a deal with Opta that means we can bring you the kind of in-depth statistics that no other club website in English football can offer.

And over the next few weeks we're revealing some fascinating figures to help you understand who did what in 2011-12 - continuing today with interceptions, blocks and clearances.

Top five interceptors (minutes played in brackets):

1. Daniel Agger - 59 (2,141)
2. Jordan Henderson - 54 (2,663)
3. Martin Skrtel - 49 (2,994)
4. Charlie Adam - 44 (2,175)
5. Glen Johnson - 43 (1,952)

Top five for clearances (minutes played in brackets):

1. Martin Skrtel - 176 (2,994)
2. Jamie Carragher 104 (1,725)
3. Daniel Agger - 98 (2,141)
4. Jose Enrique - 47 (2,992)
5. Glen Johnson - 43 (1,952)

Top five for blocks (minutes played in brackets):

1. Martin Skrtel - 31 (2,994)
2. Daniel Agger - 14 (2,141)
3. Jamie Carragher - 10 (1,725)
4. Charlie Adam - 9 (2,175)
5. Glen Johnson - 8 (1,952)

These "stats" mean little or nothing to most supporters...this isn't stat-obsessed America.
If we are to base selection/signings on data analysis then why employ Brendan Rodgers and co?
The only statistics that mean anything are the number of points/goals and trophies picked up. Most fans know a good player from a bad one, regardless of what the numbers try to tell us.
Covering every blade of grass and running your backside off for 90 minutes doesn't mean a lot if you can't trap a bag of sand or if your poor positional play is stifling the team's rythm.
A CB for Stoke City will probably make twice as many clearances than a cultured CB at a top club........so what? Is he twice as good?
A defender might make six vital goal-line clearances in one match but four of them might be because he allowed the attacker to get into a shooting-position in the first place.
Jan Molby used to cover about 50yds during a match and nip to KFC at half-time but his vision and passing were exceptional. What would his stats say about him? I don't really know, maybe they are interpreted more scientifically but, my point is that we should only use these new sciences as a tool and not a bible.
ANFIELDPETE

I am an american & can honestly say the only stat I care about is the final score of the match. This is also the only stat that a majority of my american friends care about. Please do not assume that because you live in the states that you are obsessed with stats. In fact the people here are more obsessed with prescription drugs, social media & "ignorance is bliss".

take no notice of these jealous parasites who only appear from cracks in the walls when the liverpool team are not doing well. you are not a big club any more, they will say.
what they mean to say is, and they're right, we're not a big team any more.
as far as being a big club. liverpool football club is still one of the biggest football clubs in the world, always have, and always will be. there is nothing they, or anyone else can do about that, fact. ynwa.
p.s. can't wait to see these so called people disappear back into the cracks when liverpool re emerge as a force over the next few years.

Absolutely spot on...

If you guys had the choice of buying 3-4 realistic players to fit into the Bendan Rogders style of play, with a 30m spend. Who would you buy? Great site, best around.
Cheers
Rumba

I would buy Sigurdsson 7mil, Luuk Dejong 14ml, and make an attempt for Junior Hoillet and parhaps Aly Cissoko to compete with Enrique. Red89

Ok, i'll have a go.
1) Sigurrdson
2) Susaeta
3) Luuk De Jong
4) Ramirez( This maybe a little unlikely. )

Christian Tello
Luuk De Jong
Matt Philips
Siggurdson

Piddy

Don't know about 3 or 4 but I would certaintly be trying very hard for Gaston Ramierz, along with Sig and see what's left.

G BOX

I would pay someone the whole 30mil to kidnap messi, honda, hulk and cavani..
Money well spent in my opinion..

Myk

I'd have probably sigurdsson, dyer from Swansea for the wing, quality player. I'd give some young'uns a go on the fullbacks and probably try to grab someone like Defoe. If I have money left I'd like to put in a cheeky bid for inigo Martinez although he's probably valued at alot more than I could afford.

I'd spend the 30m on a third of Messi ( and save up for the rest)

cozinoz

Sig - 7m
Ba - 7m
Yilmaz - 5m
Johnson - 11m

Total - 30m

30m + 1m (Kuyt) + 1m (Maxi) + 5m (Aqua) + 5m (Cole)
= 42m
I would buy:
Sigurdsson 7m
Soldado 15m
Ramirez 15m
Phillips 5m

Diamme- Free
Hoillet- Free
Kalou- Free
De jong 12M
Bodebouz - 7M
Siguadsom -7M
rest for sign on fees to above..

Sigurdsson 6.8
ramirez 16
diame free
and then convince owners to go in for iker munain. they might be willing due to youth/ high resale value. that would show real ambition.

reina
johnson skrtel agger enrique
lucas
gerrard sigurdsson
ramirez suarez munain

with depth in carroll, henderson, adam, downing, diame, kelly and other youth this team would genuinely push for that champs league spot

good morning eds. I am wondering why is it taking soo long for us to make a move for siggurdson ? not that his team are playing euors, still we are so slow in making a move. Why do you think it is taking soo long ? Thanks

MIHIRED {Ed002's Note - The transfer window is not even open yet.}

Help me out please. Could Rangers apply for a place in the English league as a consequence of the recent mis_fortune? If they could, then surely now is their chance. I've been thinking that the government would welcome such a move as a political weapon against the independence vote. Just a thought.

Guillem Balague gets his info regarding Liverpool from this site.
No point in regurgitating what he says.

Siggle

I don't think he has a computer Siggle.

Hi Eds,
A question to any Eds;
Ed005 stated that he think BR will sign 4 or 5 players.
Which positions do you think he will be looking to strengthen?
I won't shoot the messenger,if it doesn't go his/her way,i just want to know your view.
Great site btw,
Thx,
Cheers.
The_liverbird.

Suazez is going to be sold he will not be a liverpool player in August. Then the fans will turn against Fsg. I reckon Skrtel, Johnson, and Adam will be sold too.

Hi eds,
If we buy a smaller striker who is a good finisher, for example soldado or borini, would you think it likely that Suarez would start on the right hand side of a 433 and play like dzagoev is for russia? Cheers. {Ed002's Note - No.}

Not the first time I've read down the page and seen someone saying about Juventus being relegated in 2006 and now look where they are. Not really the same thing seen as though they were relegated with a championship winning squad. Ok they lost a few players who jumped ship but they still had a solid squad and management to steer them back to the top.

Unfortunately for Liverpool we have had a slow chronic decline due to bad structure from the people at the top which filtered down through the whole establishment. This is what is making it so difficult for all now connected to the club to build us back up. Hopefully FSG and Dalglish have put us on the right track and Brendan Rogers can kick on from here.

I'm like everyone, I want us to win the League next season but I certainly wont be screaming for someones head if we don't, unlike some delusional people last year hanging Dalglish.

So, get behind the owners, manager and team and we'll see where we are in a years time. Oh and don't mention the Juventus scenario again!!

hey ed's...a fan from India...i want to know whether Andre Wisdom will play a couple of games this season or will he be loaned out??
Manoj 4m India {Ed005's Note - I think he'll possibly get a game or two but I think it more likely he'll be loaned out.}

hi eds only just found that luuk de jong has a brother siem who plays for ajax is he any good? {Ed005's Note - From what I've seen he seems a pretty good player!}

Any chance he could be signed aswell then? surely would def sway luuk in joinin us aswell {Ed005's Note - Haven't heard anything about interest from us.}

Very much like a Tim Cahill time player. When coming from deep and attacking the ball he's really good, but his reading of the game and passing are a little off at this early stage in his career. I see this problem with Cahill a lot, where a manager is never quite sure where he should play, or what his role in a match should be, but you put him out there and something good usually comes from it.

So sounds like he could be worth a look at to see if he could progress then but not a guarenteed go out and buy player. cheers guys

Am I the only one who got the seems a good player bit? Or was that unintentional?

Hi Eds.
Just want to ask (can't seem to recall), but when do the UEFA regulations kick in, regarding:
1 Number of foreign players a team may have.
2 Financial matters, namely expenditure can not exceed revenues.
Thanks.
Food for thought. {Ed005's Note - I don't think there are any regulations regarding how many foreign players we can have mate - I think we have to have a minimum number of home-grown players. EU courts would have something to say about it I reckon. The FFP rules won't bother Liverpool for a good couple of years yet mate.}

Hi Ed 005. Many thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. Take care, best regards. Food for thought. {Ed002's Note - There is a maximum of 17 non home grown players over 21 allowed in the EPL squad. The FFP rules kick in from June 2014.}

Anyone who holds any hope of the following players joining this summer don't , as I see there names repeatedly posted when it is made mostly clear these players more than likely wont join :

David villa ( too old 31, wages excess of 100k a week , trying to lower the wage budget not increase it , his signing would go against every one of the principles the owners have in regards to the transfer market )

Edison Cavani ( lets be realistic ?)

dzegov ( 30M plus , can practically pick and choose what club he wants to join , its not going to be us )

Gaston Ramirez ( unlikely could happen however with one English club made a bid - man city - he will likely go there as they missed out on eden hazard )

Adam Johnson (unless his wage demands decrease wont happen )

kalou ( again inflated wage demands having been at Chelsea unlikely to accept less than what he was already on -too much- plus at 26 hes hardly an emerging talent )

David villa is 30 and kuyt has gone freeing 80k a week and im guessing maxi will be moving, which then if we got david villa would not get increasing the wage at all.

New song for big A:

Andy, Andy, Andy
Can't you see?
Sometimes your skills just hypnotize me
I just love your English game
This is why we broke
The kitty bank

Song for Torres upon his next return (to Dead Wrong):
Relax and make jokes
While his toe pokes rebound off the far post
Know you're nothing but a ghost
You're toast
You're toast
Hail Mary
More disgrace
Smack the ball with the lace
Take his Gucci bag and toss the kid on his back
Laugh at him on the ground
Funny, left for the money
But his spirits broke now

- Logic

Sorry but thats quite sad

All together now........................

Simply woeful
