Congrats on Joe Gomez and his return to action today all the best for the future. Speaking of future, Rhian Brewster scored a hat trick in that game just 16 years of age will keep an eye out for him.

If he makes it would he have Brewsters Millions?

14 Nov 2016 04:24:31
Showing your age there Ron.

14 Nov 2016 08:30:09
He needs to spend his entire weeks wages in one hr firstly it's in his contract then he gets the mega bucks.

14 Nov 2016 17:14:09
I'm older than that Annie šŸ˜‰.

14 Nov 2016 18:21:07
You do realise annie that indirectly you have also shown your age for knowing the reference!

13 Nov 2016 21:14:36
What is the role of DOF? and how can we expect Mr. Edwards assist Jurgen Klopp?

Ed002,

I used the search function but didn't find anything relevant.

Your insight would be appreciated.

{Ed002's Note - Typically they take responsibility for all of the teams in a pyramid structure, look after the scouting network and may be involved in negotiating the buying and selling of players.}

14 Nov 2016 18:12:22
Ed002,

Thanks for your reply.

13 Nov 2016 16:30:40
Strong rumours in Glasgow Gerrard about to join Celtic, i'd just like to ask Pool fans if the story is going around Liverpool too? Maybe some of Stevie's pals could confirm if it's true for me?

Will ManĆØ deffinately be going to the ACON? Is there any chance he will opt to stay and play with Liverpool instead?

Believable0 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - No, he will be going.}

14 Nov 2016 02:09:28
Why are people panicking about Mane going to ACON? We got Ojo and Wilson waiting in the wings and Klopp will have figured a way out to make do without Mane by January.

14 Nov 2016 06:40:23
Must say as a South African having watched the world cup qualifier against Senegal, the seems to be an over-reliance on Sadio from the Senegalese. 1 thing I noted was how much better he looked when playing for pool so credit to the backroom staff and players.

14 Nov 2016 17:48:39
Thanks, Flex.

13 Nov 2016 13:16:05
Guys instead of thinking what's the best plan of attack for us let's think reverse and given how we currently play how do other teams stop us ( cue the standard they can't response ;) and then further on how do we change our tactics to beat the defense who stopped our first tactic, Ed?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - there are numerous ways they can stop us. It really depends on what kind of players they have, as it is no good playing a deep defence if your defenders are weak in the air and your midfield is lacking in defensive discipline. No good pressing high, if you have a slow defence and a midfield lacking in energy. So you can't really discuss it on a general basis, each game is a separate entity that you have to approach as such.}

13 Nov 2016 13:59:36
In the wise words of Sir Ron Keague, "Nobody can stop us".

13 Nov 2016 23:13:53
United kinda did if you recall.

14 Nov 2016 00:14:25
I think their bus 'kinda' did mate.

14 Nov 2016 06:55:12
Bus or no bus your question was answered it stopped us so did Swansea for a half.

14 Nov 2016 09:00:22
United Did stop us but were happy with a point, Swansea stopped us for 45 mins, it's a 90 minute match Ginga.

14 Nov 2016 16:27:41
Utds bus didn't stop us it just simply broke down in the middle of the motorway causing a 90 min tailback.

14 Nov 2016 17:15:45
We stopped ourselves against Man Utd, but for some average finishing and outstanding goalkeeping, we would have won 2-0.

14 Nov 2016 17:51:50
We didn`t play well vs Utd and that was the main reason why we drew the game. When we started playing well when Lallana stepped in, we caused them problems created the only 3 good chances in the game and had Firmino ensured a better first touch, we would have won so No, their bus did nothing to stop us. How did the bus work out vs Chelsea? It didn`t as Chelsea played well and thumped them.

14 Nov 2016 23:28:03
Burnley not only stopped us .
They also gave us a kick up the backside. and knocked us back.
But it also made us improve.

13 Nov 2016 12:40:47
Morning Eds

D9 you expect anything major to happen in the Jan window please? Not a great time to buy I no. A little tinkering perhaps rather than big money being thrown about?

We don't need big changes imo.

I think we'll do one bit of business and that been Sakho out the door. I'd be chuffed with that.

13 Nov 2016 17:16:58
Listen to the Podcast mate, all the updates are on there regarding transfers both in and out.

It's a good listen šŸ‘.

13 Nov 2016 17:48:54
Cheers mate. How do i get the podcast?

No problem mate. Click on the rumours page and scroll down until you see sharkopod #1.

13 Nov 2016 19:47:36
Cheers Nicky I've listened to the podcast now. Very informative indeed. Not exactly what I wanted to here with Couts and Firmino both having interest. I hope to god we don't loose both.

13 Nov 2016 20:11:09
Pleasure mate. Agree not great with regards to the two Brazilians but the summer is a long way off. If we can get a champions league spot, it will certainly help the cause!

14 Nov 2016 06:31:57
Nicky

Champions league wouldn't help at all. Spurs and Leicester are in CL. Makes no sense what so ever. Arsenal always wins the top 4 cup and gets eliminated from CL by mid December.
We need League title.

14 Nov 2016 17:55:37
They are both going nowhere if we get CL. If we don`t, Couts may well leave but not Firmino, IMO. And No Harry, CL will definitely help us as Nicky said and we don`t need to do anything else than focus on the next game, as putting unnecessary pressure on the boys to win the PL will be counterproductive.

13 Nov 2016 12:38:09
Apologies if this was already answered. I could not find in the site. Is Matip also away for African cup? Might be a bigger loss than Mane.
Coop.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - Probably not.}

13 Nov 2016 13:08:02
I think he's said he is stopping with us instead of going. I agree he would've been a bigger loss, we have cover for Mane, not much reliable cover yet for Matip, he's arguably our best defender.

13 Nov 2016 17:39:09
Only probably? I thought he was not going and that was decided? Has something changed Ed or has it always been a probably?

{Ed002's Note - He has not played for his country for some considerable time. It is probable that he won't go.}

14 Nov 2016 17:56:51
he already gave an interview and said he wants to play regularly for us as he just recovered from playing a half a season with Schalke with screws in his injured ankle, hence he`s not going to the AFCON.

12 Nov 2016 23:57:54
Thanks for the podcast Ed002, it was very informative and got straight to the point, summing up all that is happening at the moment with Liverpool beautifully. I must say though, it scared me half to death to hear the brusk voice of a middle aged man rather than the sharp but soothing voice of a mature American woman I was expecting to hear. My apologies if you are in fact a woman and my ears are off, if so my advice is to drink plenty of water ;) . It was a pleasure to finally meet the infamous WonderDogSparky too.

She will always be a woman in my eyes. Who cares if she's taken a few testosterone jabs to enhance the sexiness of her voice? Who cares if she wears dungarees, has a short back and sides and wears timberland boots for that 21st century masculine look?

13 Nov 2016 11:15:40
Lil Magician, I think I know whose kind of voice you were expecting - Megyn Kelly from Fox.

Ed002, are you actually American? Because for a guy who grew up in America's North West, you sound incredibly British.

{Ed002's Note - I was born in the northwest and grew up in the San Francisco area - but I left there 35 years ago.}

13 Nov 2016 13:06:40
So you've lived most of your life outside the US?

I guess it affects people differently. I know someone (an Aussie) who spent only a few years growing up in Greece, and because of that has a weird Greek twist in his Aussie accent. Meanwhile you don't sound American at all, despite completely growing up there.

Interesting.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, I moved, initially, to London in 1981.}

13 Nov 2016 15:14:03
Thanks ed002. As with others the podcast has shattered my illusions. At least we know you have immaculate hair.

13 Nov 2016 17:10:16
Yeah. Dissappointed that you have revealed the supsense.
But thanks for the Podcast.

14 Nov 2016 00:17:10
Yeah it's quite easy to lose an accent after been away for so long, especially 35 years. Lookin forward to the next podcast ed2, was quality!

14 Nov 2016 08:34:46
American woman, lived in uk and has dodgy British accent.
Who is Madonna?

13 Nov 2016 06:32:50
Liverpool scouting Hector Herrera is not a good sign for Emre Can. I am also not sure what is going on with his contract extension at the club. Herrera is more like an offensive midfielder with incredible pace. He has a decent eye for a goal.

Believable2 Unbelievable18

13 Nov 2016 10:11:14
clubs scout players all the time.

13 Nov 2016 10:13:07
More jumping to conclusions?

13 Nov 2016 10:33:07
It's probably only incase someone leaves.
Emre Can on paper is probably the most likely to leave, although I would say he's still very unlikely to, just the club making a plan B I suppose.

13 Nov 2016 12:38:56
I believe I am right in saying that Liverpool scouted Herrera last season, and it is only a maybe that they still are? Because I got the impression we wanted an attack minded midfielder and the club was looking at Dahoud, Zielinski and Herrera. I would be surprised if we are still scouting him as we signed Wijnaldum after failing on all of the above.

Ed002 did make it clear he wasn't sure who we were watching, only that we had scouts at a few games. It was seemingly a toss up between Andre Silva, Moussa Marega and Hector Herrera. I honestly don't think Silva will happen. He is not really that great value for money. Marega would be good competition for Mane as he is a more right sided forward who I always trying to get in behind but it makes little sense to have 2 Africans competing for the same spot in my opinion as you will lose them both every time the AFCON comes around. Herrera I agree is a very good player who scores a fair share of goals for a midfielder. After recent weeks where we have seen the likes of Lallana, Can and Wijnaldum all getting amongst the goals, I honestly don't see us pursuing a guy in his mid 20's who isn't really an instant upgrade though. I think the Wijnaldum signing has put our midfielder interest to bed for now. We have Henderson, Stewart, Lallana, Can, Lucas, Grujic, Wijnaldum, Coutinho, Milner and many more who can play in midfield so I cannot see it happening in January regardless. It already looks as though Can might be battling his way back into the side. I think Ed002's comment was more to say "if we are looking at Herrera then somebody would need to make way". And with Hendo captain, Lallana playing out of his skin and Wijmaldum only just signing, Can is the most likely in that scenario. I rather suspect it is a storm in a tea cup.

I don't actually think we will sign anyone in January and I am not opposed to that either. We have no European competitions to contend with and the League Cup will be done and dusted by February. So even assuming we go all the way In both cups we still don't have many games in the second half of the season. I am sure between Origi and Ejaria we can get through January!

{Ed002's Note - Marega is out on loan at Vitoria.}

13 Nov 2016 13:10:48
Was it just Silva and Herrera you mentioned as being unsure who exactly we were looking it? Marega is doing well on loan as well. 10 goals in 9 games apparently.

{Ed002's Note - I don't see Silva as a likely buy.}

13 Nov 2016 13:31:49
Well I Hope so because I only really want Tymon out of who you confirmed we are interested in haha!

Oh and I Hope you are being nicer to Sparky today!

14 Nov 2016 00:20:12
To me if it means one of them joining and Can out? I don't want any of them. Can is improving all the time and can be something special for us I have no doubt. We don't need to buy anybody else but what do I know, In Klopp we trust no matter what.

14 Nov 2016 18:03:29
Hector Herrera is a forward/ striker, not an out and out midfielder so how such a player can replace Can, like for like, is beyond me.

13 Nov 2016 00:13:06
Adam Lallana is currently bettering his Southampton team of the season form and it is testament to the work he's put in plus his willingness to learn. He's always been a player in a Liverpool shirt up until this season that you felt had the tools to succeed but for some reason couldn't utilise them. He is blessed with wonderful technique, balance, agility and dribbling ability and he can easily weave between 2 or 3 players at a go when on song, not to mention him being two footed which is always a bonus as it makes you very unpredictable. There was a reason pundits were fawning over him and saying he wouldn't look out of place in the Spanish side when he got into the team of the season, he certainly always had the ability. This season has seen Lallana pass the ball more quickly into the front 3, look up to find the right pass instead of running down blind alleys and better utilise his wonderful ability. He is even getting into the box for goalscoring opportunities with regularity now, which if you recall was something he threatened to do last pre-season but couldn't carry it into the season. He has definitely been one of our most important players, he is also key to initiating our press too and is even performing for England. Long may it continue.

13 Nov 2016 10:14:26
Quality post, spot on.

13 Nov 2016 10:37:06
I wouldn't have been too sad to see him sold this summer, always looked like a player that was never going to reach that Southampton form with us, like you say though he's probably bettered that form this year, amazing really how a player can be turned round completely in such a short space of time, thing is, klopps done it with more than just Lallana, you can add Milner to that list, coutinho and firmino have gone up a level as well.

13 Nov 2016 11:11:46
Had my doubts but Klopp never did and to be fair to the lad he has been brilliant this season. I don't know why but I feel our more mobile team has helped him and taken the pressure off. When you think we've swapped immobile Benteke for Billy Whizz Mane its made a huge difference.

I think Wijnaldum has helped him too but I know a lot of people can't accept that.

13 Nov 2016 11:43:16
Good post lil mag!

I personally have not been his biggest fan but i must hold my hands up and say i didn't want him in the team but right now he's one hell of a player for club and country.

Confidence just oozes from him, from our team and as u say long may it continue!

13 Nov 2016 11:44:06
Wini is brilliant love him. Like I loved Bobby this time next season wini will be indispensable.

13 Nov 2016 12:17:24
Yeah I really like Wini as well, he's doing well but with more time under his belt he'll be fantastic.

13 Nov 2016 12:46:14
Klopp playing players in the best position to help the team, simples.

Most managers would have put Lallana or Wini in the top three positions; Klopp is playing them deeper where their workrate helps the difference and their ability to get the ball to the front three and exploit space.

All Klopp needs to do is learn how to beat a well organised parked bus and the season may turn out to be a good one!

14 Nov 2016 00:22:42
'All Klopp needs to do is learn how to beat a well organised parked bus and the season may turn out to be a good one! '

Couldn't aggree more mate, we have dominated the majority of games we played but the utd one stands out to me, they parked the bus big time, we need to figure out how to get passed that, but all in all, everythings good, we will learn. It's all progress.

{Ed001's Note - we did ok with that against Chelsea, West Brom and Watford....}

14 Nov 2016 18:05:59
We didn`t have a problem damaging the buses Ed01 mentioned so I think we`ll be fine. The Utd game was down to us not being out our best for the full 90 and that can happen at times. I personally have moved on from the game and I think many people should do the same.
