Aye Aye Captain....

Good evening everyone hope you all enjoyed the yawn fest last night. I've been thinking recently about the captaincy of our great club. I've tried to envision slipping on that armband myself, even my wild imagination isn't powerful enough to truly conjure up the emotion you would feel doing it. It means a lot to players, and I dunno about everyone else but it means a lot to me as fan.

The person carrying that armband, should be someone who has the ability and tenacity to control games. The mental toughness to power on when things are depressing, someone committed to the club, someone who would do anything to help the club, even if it cost them their own place. Someone who would put the club, before themself.

In my opinion Steven Gerrard had the skill at his feet to be a captain, but I've always had doubts about his character. He has been a truly outstanding player for us over the years and dug us out of some holes. I expect great players to do that regardless of being captain or not. Some things still stick about Gerrard, his transfer request is one. No captain should ever hand in a transfer request. Ever. If they do they should hand the armband back and refuse to wear it again as they are undeserving of it. With his ability now coming into question during the twilight years of whats been a pretty glittering career, maybe its time we give the torch to someone else? But who?

Daniel Agger
----------------

I've never been too much of a fan of defenders being captain, I like my captains in the middle but if someone deserves it then I wouldn't rule it out. We've lost Agger to injury a lot over the years which dents his case a little since a captain has to actually be there. However, he certainly has the skills at his feet and he seems very grounded and his recent rebuttal of city shows he is committed to the club because a lot of players would be very tempted to go to the champs for a lot of money. He didn't. There's a good case for Agger.

Pepe Reina
-----------------

Worn the arm band a few times already, and he has been an excellent servant to us at times. But his recent form and his transfer threats would rule him out for me. Like I said, a captain sacrifices his career for the team.

Martin Skrtle
----------------
He's been here a while, fairly consistent and not afraid to tell team mates what to do. All good traits for a captain, however I don't think he quite has the ability at his feet to be captain. Evidenced by his often stuttering form when not playing alongside Agger.

For me the choice is pretty simple, there is one candidate who fits the bill perfectly. A player who suffered through serious adversity upon his arrival, a player who didn't have the backing of the fans and still said they were the best fans in the world. A player who works extremely hard, is coming into the peak years of his career and who has excellent conduct. A player who could be an example to all players, not just younger ones. That player is Lucas Leiva, I don't think anybody at LFC deserves the captaincy more than this guy.

I know some people will complain and say that its not fair to remove it from Gerrard, but I think that Lucas has earned it. Plus nobody complained when Hyypia was cruelly stripped of captaincy so it could be given to Gerrard as a sweetener to get him to sign a new contract and Sami was a fine captain.

Thanks for reading everyon, comments appreciated as always.

Nevada

If or when he cements his place back in the team Lucas would make a fine captain.
I'm not sure anyone would take it from gerrard though.
We won't move on as a team until gerrard goes.

MIKEY

Totally agree mate, top top player & if ever someones value has increased significantly while out injured it's with Lucas, definitely not totally appreciated until not there!
Steve...

I'm sorry I don't understand, you don't think anybody deserves it more than Lucas, he's was bloody injured basically all of last season and he's injured again, I don't see an issue with the armband, we have gerrard, carra and Reina, please tell me when either is captain wat they have done wrong, is this just another way of finding something else to winge about?

And also, you think being injured should mean he cant be captain? Did you want Gerrard stripped when he was out for large chunks of the season?

Lucas, up until last year, had hardly ever been missing.

Nevada {Ed063's Note - Lucas for president I say}

I wasn't complaining mystery poster. Simply suggesting that perhaps next season it might be time to give someone the armband. Carra hardly plays and will play even less so pointless having a captain who is never on the pitch, Reina was quite happy to leave a couple of seasons ago so it's not as if he's putting the club before himself (the most important characteristic of a club captain) and Gerrard's influence is decreasing.

I never said change it now, but certainly next season would be a good time, Gerrard will be 33 and will be even less influential than he is now (and on present form that's not very much), he will also be 33 and like Carra hardly playing.

In my opinion it's a good time to pass the armband onto another player who has earned it.

Nevada

After your post i really thought you was going to say carra , because he is everything you have mentioned , he has never asked for a transfer , he has talked new defenders through games and some of his goal line clearences have been just as valuable as scoring goals , i disagree with your choice in lucas , because he has not been tapped up yet , i know he was the captain for the kids brazilian team , carra is old but that means he has lots of experience and he has been touted as a future coach or manager , so the big question is who , i agree with you on a midfielder but my choice would be jonjo shelvey , i believe when he starts to get games week in week out he will become a very .very good midfielder , he leads by scoring goals and getting stuck in , if anyone at the club is going to be like gerrard its him , and he also talks alot on the pitch , plus he has not asked for a move , he has stayed loyal and we will reap the benefits from him playing more and more , he will come into his own when he does play week in week out

mickey b

Hi eds nevada i do like your posts and read them all,but this time i feel your bored at home and just wanted something to say,take band off gerrard name who to give it to and reasons not to,then stick with lucas,dont get me wrong i love lucas cant wait for him to be back,but out of all the candidates you named. lucas to me has to be the quietest on the pitch out off all the lads you named,a captain needs to be laying into players around him lifting there spirits when down,ste g has been doing this for years this is not something you just lose,ste deserves to be are captain 'my opinion and no reason to be giving it to anyone else'ray

Hi Nevada I was mystery poster, sorry I thought u meant change captain this season, I do agree that the time is fast approaching that we have been dreading for years, Stevie g is coming towards the end of his career, I think we will get this season and next out of him full time then I think u will see him sort of become a squad man, abit like carra, I agree with one of your choices in agger, I think he has all the ingredients to be an outstanding captain for us, I do apologise Nevada read ur post last night half asleep so I read it all wrong

Roll back to 2005 league cup final we were recorded as the loudest fans in the world we need to recreate that atmosphere in every game to inspire our team even in bad times because that's wat we do in RODGERS I TRUST let's get behind HIM ynwa JON96

The best thing BR could do now is bring Roy Evans back into the coaching setup and recreate a boot room

I like Roy but I think he is much to good to back to being just a coach. He deserves a good managerial post.

Nevada

Move on. We have a glorious history but please move on.

cozinoz

I have no issue with Roy Evans getting a more involved role but I dont think Rodgers needs to change a great deal at all. We just need to capitalise on our dominance and maybe bring in a finisher to do that.

Andy K

Nevada I agree but he isn't likely to get a management job so we should take advantage and use his skills

Eds are this duo of players any good Nikola Ninkovic and Lazar Markovic i know that we have been linked with them in the past and with there chairman coming out and saying they won't leave in January i just wanted to ask what kind of players they are like and do yo feel that they could have a big future at a larger team {Ed001's Note - never watched them play, sorry.}

13 Oct 2012 20:10:11
Hi Eds and friends

There are a few questions that I can not find a proper answer for, wonder if you can help?
1 what is the real reason BR Andy Carroll is being loaned/view to being sold? Is it his wages?
2 How can BR decide Carroll does not fit into his plans before even seeing him in pre-season
3 If Carroll does not fit into his plan, then how could Dempsey fit in when he is a very similar type of player?
4 Is Borini a better player than Carroll? Does he propose a bigger threat to the opposition than Carroll would? When the tippy-tappy does not work as with Stoke, wouldn't Carroll's raw power and heading ability be useful (coming off the bench)?
5 Borini is now injured, does this mean Morgan or Yesil would be give a chance and maybe we might have 'fowler' on our hands (we hope?)
Sorry for all the questions but I keep asking myself these and have no answer (actually I do, but the answers open other questions which are too painful to ask)
Sorry fellow reds if I sound a right bloody misery guts but I love LFC just like the rest of us...please print this eds.
Iranred in London {Ed002's Note - (1) Carroll will be sold as BR does not see a future for him at Liverpool. (2) I don't know when the decision was taken. (3) Dempsey is a very different player to Carroll. (4) Borini is a different type of player to Carroll and one BR knows and trusts. (5) I would expect to see Pacheco and Morgan given a chance.}

I think Yesil will get a Chance at CF from the bench, in the capital one cup he will play from the start.

I think BR didn't think Morgan was up to it when he gave Morgan his chance against Hearts that's why he moved Suso at RWF instead.

No mention of the bale dive from the anti-Liverpool brigade!!

Which one, the one against Villa or the pathetic dive against Scotland?

Re the alledged Bale dive.
The Scots player admitted that he clipped Bale and apologised to his teammates,so not a dive.

when i see shelvey playing he reminds me off zidane.same walk and touch at that age.
i am talking abt zidane younger years at caen and bordeaex,not the juve and real days.
have a look at zidane young years on youtube.
shelvey will be a great player.
he is youing and youngsters make mistakes,i remember van basten getting 3 red cards in 1 season when he was 19 at ajax.
its all part of learning tp control emotions and learning the game

Didn't notice before but shelvey does seem to have some skill, he can do the 360 and genrally go past people.

Lil Red

For me he needs that burst of acceleration to get away from players like say david silva, or a younger gerrard, if he works on that to go with the skill set he already has then he will be a great player as i firmly believe he and some of the other youngsters are a title winning team
huddz red

Shelvey is rough diamond not unlike zizdane was when he was younger,I used to love watching zizdane he really was an artist with feet like hands great player the type of player who defined his generation like messi today & van basten in the late 80's early 90's.......never have got into stokes side though! What with all the " shilly shally" "pretty football"
Paisley's genius

Zidane was never blessed with the burst of pace, neither was Xabi, but they very rarely lose posession and always send the ball where they want. Why? Quick brains. Quick brains are much much much better than quick feet.

Nevada

If shelvey turns into even half of what zidanne was we have a very special player.
I grew up watching zidanne he was a cut above.

with borini injured, i guess we are in urgent need of a striker, even tho borini hasnt actually scored yet, i would say we need another option apart from suarez.
what are the chances of getting a striker, and who are potential buys? are the funds availiable?
or is it that big andy carrol is going to return in jan.?
(i would have given Andy a proper chance before trying to sell him).
UP THE REDS..!!
UNCLE ZAINY BEAR.

Yeah because big Andy really has torn the prem apart the last two years.

Mighty reds

And borini has torn who apart exactly?
your missing the point. that being, andy cost £'s...so at least give him a chance. rather than sell him at a substantial loss.
he actually started playing really well, just before they sold him. and we would have got more goals so far this season, had he been in the squad.
as a comparison,chelsea bought torres for 50 million, he didnt play or score either, and they kept him. and he will start to score goals.
i for one, hope andy returns in jan, and when he scores loads of goals i will say i told u so.

Andy Carroll is not a Liverpool player and never will be. He can't finish and too slow. As soon as we cash in the better.

Mighty reds

I remember Bill Shankly trying to sell Toshack - I think to Leicester. The deal was pulled when our deal for Worthington fell through. It just shows that even the best can make mistakes, as his legendary partnership with Keegan wouldn't have happened if Worthington hadn't failed a medical.

Come on Brendan - swallow your pride and get Andy back in January. This was a big mistake you made right at the start of your appointment. If you don't rectify it you could just find you might be out of the door not long after Andy!

redmersey

I am really confused by those hanging on to the Andy Carroll path, it is clear that he is not seen as fitting the system, it does not mean that he is not an effective player, just that his strengths lie outside of our system and that his weaknesses undermine the system. I hope he has a great season at West Ham and we get the cash for him. I would wish him the best of luck, I have no issue with the lad. He simply will not fit the requirements for our system. The best result in my eyes would be either he has a great season and West Ham go down and others bid high for him or he has a great season, West Ham stay up an they hand over the cash. As for our situation, we simply need to buy somone who fits the system straight away and will score goals.

Andy K

Red Mersey mate he is not what we need at the club. We need a regular goalscorer, and I am afraid that Carroll is not that man. Time to move on.

Mighty reds

Carroll is a very good player but will never suit the 433 formation he will suit a team like west ham Newcastle or stroke where they put the ball in the box and the striker will head it down or pass it to the incoming midfielder where as we play a totally different game where we pass and more and get in to the box. forget andy if he was that great there will be team queuing for him but who came for him at the end ?

With Walcott injured in the San Marino WCQ match (if it's broken ribs, he could be sidelined for up to 2-3 months), will that affect his contract extension negotiation with Arsenal and sign up for another club (like Liverpool) instead? {Ed002's Note - It will make no difference to what he decides to do.}

Hey

Ed0052, I was reading you're profiles on wisdom and Ajordan and was sceptical as to their accuracy. Every Liverpool player you write about you praise them and say that theyre going to be amazing. Is this a true reflection or are you simply being bias. I obviously hope that they are true but would just like to check!

J

Wisdom is going to be a first-team regular for many years to come. He has great potential and could save the club a fortune in the transfer market.

All LFC players are over rated with the exception of Stevie

Then when we lose or do badly hell unearths

Not all in the academy will be good players some will but the majority want and history has borne this out

Tha manic highs and lows bring some sort of europhia

Europhia?
Is that a fear of being in Europe cos if it is we should be ok

Not really a rumour but check out the comments made by Newcastle utd fans at the bottom of the daily mail story about liverpool going after Demba Ba.i can't believe they really believe in what they are saying!

We should stay away from newcastle players

Quick question for Ed001 please,

Is Roy Evans still affiliated with the club in any way? I always felt he was very unfortunate to have managed when he did. With some of the players we've had over the last 8 years or so I think Roy would've had us playing magnificent football, if he could keep his players on a slightly shorter leash. Always liked him myself, good football and seemed like a genuinely nice guy.

Nevada {Ed001's Note - only in that he works for the TV channel, not the actual coaching side of things, unfortunately. One of the best coaches in world football being wasted, in my opinion. Genuinely nice guy as well. Oh and he wanted his players on a shorter leash when he was there, but Moores would interfere and undermine him constantly.}

Evans is just a little bit before my time.
I can just about remember some of the players though and the great football we played.
I wonder if he will ever come back as a coach?

MIKEY

Roy Evans had a side with massive potential as ed said he was undermined particularly by the poison that is paul ince,one mistake was putting redknapp back in the side in 96 after injury,Michael Thomas was on fire at the time but was dropped to make way for redknapp's return and results bacame inconsistent after that,which was a shame he was nearly there.
Paisley's genius

That team he built had the potential to become a great team, unfortunately they had David calamity James as a goalkeeper which cost us time n time again! I remember that when collymore joined, in his 1st season that the partnership him n fowler had was brilliant, pity collymore went off the rails in his 2nd season n was sold.....I would say that could be one of our best built sides that never won a good trophy, I'm not counting the coca cola cup in 95......

James
Jones
Scales
Babb
Ruddock
Mcateer
Barnes
Redknapp
Mcmanaman
Fowler
Collymore

Pity only one coca cola cup.... Should of been a lot more {Ed001's Note - if Ruddock had kept his nose clean maybe we would have. Drunken fat slob was a complete waste of talent.}

I didn't know he was undermined by moores. I feel even worse for him now, his football is the best I have seen us play (having missed our hey day) and I agree with you that its a complete waste of an excellent coach to have hi sat around doing nothing. He continued the pass and move philosophy (up until Houllier dismantled it) and its the main reason why I have faith in BR, he seems to have the same approach to how the game should be played.

Thanks for the info ed.

Nevada

Eds right Nevada,ruddock had started to play well and consistent then decided to turn into prat with stupid games,the main thing lacking was two thirds of the spine of the team,needing a commanding centreback that ruddock could have been & the goalkeeper,James was a good shotstopper but had a similarity to Dracula in his fear of crosses,then factor in Paul ince then you had a real problem,as said earlier mccallister would have been a better influence on & off the pitch as would have colin Henry,probably not the most footballing of centrebacks but again consistent & will give everything,the attitude that prevailed at the time amongst the younger players was fuelled by people like ruddock & ince,met Roy Evans at a charity event earlier this year,he is an absolute gent,shame he was let down by people who really should have been on his side... Y.n.w.a jft96 paisley's genius

Does anyone know where i can buy an official LFC suit or have any info on them? I want one for my wedding next year but can't find any details.

Cheers

Kopite81

May as well look for an LFC branded divorce while your at it if your planning on turning up in that mate haha

MIKEY

You'd have to have one made by whoever makes them prada gucci ect Calvin klien probably now we're owned by yonks lol they have them made to fit whoever is wearing it

As long as it's not the 1996 FA Cup final suit...that was a crime against fashion!

The suits are made by the turkish company who are sponsers to the clud

Right,i'd like to try something. Could people list their favorite current Liverpool player? Not that it matters much,just think it could be interesting.
Lucas Levia,because of sheer grit. He could have walked and none would have blamed him, when he speaks about the club he speaks with commitment,and he seems very humble. He often seems to take time for the fans.
Who's next?
WelshBoyDave

At the moment I would say it was Agger, loved his commitment in the summer by turning down City and the tattoo he has now got on his knuckles is just icing on the cake.
If he stays fit for the next few months (or even seasons) I think he could be captain if Gerrard is ever injured or retired.

Jay

Joe Allen...... This guy will be quality when Lucas returns

Suarez for the stroke of genius and grit he brings in our squad. At times we totally lacked any sort of creativity in the Hodgson and latter half of King Kenny's reign, yet El Pistolero single handedly won matches for us! No matter how much they try and disgrace him, he's one of the MOST passionate players for both club and country.

YNWA
sama491

Got to love a bit of downing ;) I'm actually gonna say Suarez I love how much effort he puts in on the pitch he never gives up which Is a great attitude also I think he's been un fairly treated by everyone but lfc supporters and takes it all the guy has a strong mind to put up with it

Love Lucas great attitude to fight back after all he went through can't wait till he comes back but fave player at the mo is joe Allen class act! Joe allenSO!

Lucas always but we arent worth watching without suarez inthe side

tom1975

13 Oct 2012 19:18:50
Hard to name just one as I'm very excited when we play it hasn't been like that for a while but under Rogers I love watching us play again, I would have to Agger, silky smooth I think he could make it in any team but he decided to stay, world class leem

Suso, sterling or suarez for talent and lucas and agger for commitment.

Lil Red

Allen has done nothing for LFC

This has to be a joke right!

Bit of a bias as I play right back, but I love Martin Kelly. He's a tad fragile, but outside of that he's a fantastic footballer. Also love Carragher. He's not the player he once was, but I've never seen a player more willing to sacrifice his well-being for the team.

Next time you go the game just watch allen and nothing else you will see a player that plays for the team not himself and enhances peoples game infront of him cant believe people are still negative if they would have got his strikers in we would be flying now short upfront is the only problem with this team ahhhhhhhh

Stevie Gerrard. Doesnt need any explaining

Piledriver

The only people who slag Allen of are other club fans, or dopes that would love him if his first name was pablo.
Got to say that i have watched Gerrard from his debut and he is a Liverpool legend. Perhaps one of the finest players we have ever had. I have supported LFC since 81 and cant think of too many better

13 Oct 2012 21:36:42
To the poster that says Allen has done nothing, I'm sure you a manc supporter coz you have no Idea what you talking about, if you can't see his worth then you don't know much about football, I honestly think you a joke, Allen is class and will only get better you'll eat your words but we'll never know who you are unfortunately, plz tell us your name O clueless one, Leem

Pepe reina for me, yes his form isnt great and hasnt been for a while but he still pulls ouit great saves and is a leader. could kiss his bald head sometimes, then give it a quick polish.
huddz red

I dunno if I should answer this because every time I pick a favourite he gets sold (my last three were Torres, Alonso and Fowler. Still love both Xabi and Robbie though)

I think Lucas is probably my current favourite, he has everything I admire in a sportman, he is fair, hard working, honest, does not give in the face of adversity. He shows real passion for the club. In truth I think he should be named team captain, he has all the right attributes and he seems very professional and dignified as well.

Nevada

Danny Agger all day long.

davethebutcher

Agger or Suarez. Please don't make me choose between them :)

cozinoz

Who would you want to be LFC captain is Steve gave in his Armband right now?

their would only be 3 players in my mind

(in order)
1. Agger
2. Lucas
3. Skrtel

if i had to choose my top five then...

4. Reina
5. Shelvey

the only reason shelvey would be 5th is because he would be out ranked by Gerrard, allen, lucas and sahin for a spot in the first 11.

my favorite player would be a tie between

Lucas - pure class, he does everything with composure.
&
Agger - pure class, he does everything with composure.

13 Oct 2012 17:47:59
do you really see shelvey as a replacement for gerrard ? personally i think hes awful
shankerzz {Ed052's Note - If you are saying either of those players are awful then it has to be Gerrard.}

I see Henderson being gerrard replacement

If it wasn't understood i meant shelvey

Gerrard is the best thing to happen to LFC since Kenny & Tommy

And all those who diss gerrard really cannot be lfc suppotoers maybe they claim to be LFC supporters but just remember the devil claims to be christian

Cant see anyone with an inkling about football thinking Shelvey is awful.

Lol @ Henderson comment. Made my day, you troll. {Ed063's Note - Wrong Ed to say something bad about Hendo mate.}

Anfield redevelopment announced Monday.

13 Oct 2012 16:39:00
ed any news on the stadium? thanks
tyred {Ed052's Note - There is nothing new, however, I will give a little recap on where we are at this minute. Well, Liverpool want the redevelop Anfield, we all know that. However, Everton are coming round to the idea of perhaps having a groundshare. We will not be building a new stadium I am pretty sure of that. What happens now, whether we share a ground or we extend Anfield will be done to the council I should think. Whatever happens though, naming rights will be sold}

Thanks ed, will there be some sort of announcement on Monday {Ed052's Note - It has been rumoured, but I would doubt it, there has been no inkling of an announcement}

13 Oct 2012 15:16:37
Hello Eds,

Having seen the story about Jen Chang & . I was wondering what your take on it is/was ? To me it looks to be heavily embellished (my first thought was it was an outrageous lie but Chang has since confirmed a meeting did take place.)

TFG {Ed052's Note - my take on it is confusion. The story is all a bit too complicated and confusing. It will soon blow over}

13 Oct 2012 15:36:26
{Ed052's Note - Hia everyone! As you will know, not much has been happening on the profiles siote recently. Well, today, so far, I have posted a profile on both;

And

SO please check them out, leave a comment or question, and please request as many profiles as you would like!!

13 Oct 2012 15:25:16
Any news on the injuries we have? Like Lucas and Kelly and Borini and Enrique? When do you think these players will be able to return? {Ed052's Note - Kelly looks all season, Lucas, maybe 6 weeks max, Borini we dont know at the minute, but I would say anywhere between 3 and 6 months, and Enrique, as long as possible....}

With all of Kelly's injuries do you think FSG/BR will try to move him on? I love kelly personally and cant believe that he cannot catch a break. Did Gerrard have alot of injuries when he was breaking in to the team? I think I remember owen saying that and how it actually help Gerrard because it gave him more time to develop before he got the full strain of an EPL season.
Andrew

13 Oct 2012 14:52:31
Are we really interested in Demba Ba and Gary Hooper eds? {Ed052's Note - I would doubt either very highly tbh. Ba because of his dodgy knee and Hooper because he is being linked with every club under the sun because of his current contract situation.}

13 Oct 2012 14:38:14
the being liverpool is class it makes us look like the best team in the world (i personally think we r the best)even when lose with the music &the differant shots of the players yeah its class ..wait & c how many other teams bring out similar shows next season {Ed002's Note - There have already been two similar programmes made.}

On what club where they made? did they show anfield in Soccer shrines?
Red 316 {Ed052's Note - One has been made on QPR a while back, which wasn't very popular}

It's like a bad corporate video and Clive Owen sounds like Alan Partridge.
Being Liverpool Ah Haaaaaaaaaa !
still trying to work out if B.R. is a genius or the world's biggest rubbishter

13 Oct 2012 14:27:21
Does it really matter who we sign or where they come in January as long as they do the job that is asked of them to the standard that is expected of a player in the top 6 of the prem

Marcus

Marcus is completely right why should it matter if its a big name player or someone that is completely unknown I mean the young players like Suso and Sterling don't have the biggest names in the world in terms of football but there doing a very good job at the moment considering there age.

>A announcement will be made on
Monday by Liverpool city council confirming that Liverpool
intend to redevelop Anfield.#LFC

Lee73 {Ed052's Note -

I think If true this will be brillant. Could you imagine watching the reds anywhere other than anfield? I know I couldn't. Have the eds heard anything?

Mighty reds {Ed002's Note - I think it has been clear for a while that redeveloping Anfield was always going to be the preferred solution.}

13 Oct 2012 16:00:53
Ed if its true that Liverpool are gonna be redeveloping anfield do you think the owners will still look to sell the naming rights {Ed052's Note - I would expect so yes}

13 Oct 2012 12:56:18
hi, have you anithing heard on interest in yongpo wang, a german website is reporting that we have made an offer worth 1,2 million euro for him ? {Ed052's Note - Well, from what I know of him, if I am thinking of the same Yongpo Wang, then he is nicknamed ''Fat Kid''. I think that answers your question...}

Gary mac on football focus saying how well joe Allen has played,top man makes you wonder if we had got him instead of Paul ince at the time what might have been for Roy Evans....

We will be redeveloping Anfield with an announcement due on Monday. Stadium redevelopment due to commence in 2014.

GuvTOB

No point disagreeing with the post.

Reports are coming out from various sources (some official) and the main announcement WILL be made on Monday that Anfield WILL be being re-developed starting from 2014.

What is the Capacity ?

Hope its around 70,000, but will probably be 60,000.

BigD

13 Oct 2012 13:16:46
The purported 'takeover' arrangement must have been concluded then. The next 'big thing' will be aggressive recruiting of playing staff by January 31, 2013.
SayMyName

Don't think a re-development will be any more than 60,000.
60,000 can pretty much be achieved using the current Anfield site footprint.
It will obviously be carried out stand-by-stand as well.
There has been no takeover - FSG still own the club and will do for the foreseeable future.

Well saymyname, would you like to expand on your post? At least you signed it. 60000 still pretty big.
Lee73

IF the do a second tiyer on top of the kop, we will get easily more than 75000, so second tiyer on top of the main stand, a secon tiyer on top pf the kop, just like saint james park, even barca and madrid will be worried, about new anfield capacity, com on lads we r on credit crunch we should take our pride down and think the best 4 the club finances, and its a second tiyer on top of the kop.

Anything over 60,000 will require special planning permission and a commitment to upgrading transport infrastructure etc.
Will probably end up being double the cost.
60,000 is probably about right. Anything more than that and it would make better economic sense to go with the original plan to build a new stadium and try to get 50% as naming rights.

Hi, Eds. This isnt a transfer question, but something more general. Whats the twitter row between dunkin jenkins and jen chang?
dont post if its a stupid question.
Thanks
Ratan {Ed052's Note - Hia mate. I have heard a little about this row, but I should think that it will blow over quite quickly. There is nothing to worry about}

Thanks

There are no names in the envelopes

Me -----myself-----and i

Tbh, I was surprised Brendan used this tactic, as surely it's been done to death by other managers and therefore the players know this by now. This now makes the manager look stupid, which he isn't, so why do it?

Keith

Don't think Agger would have said it was new and that he liked it if that were the case.

Lad I know one player.Its 12th man. Nowadays Anfield is becoming quiet

13 Oct 2012 07:53:15
Alright lads, just a few things....

1) Can't wait till Shelvey is back, I feel we are much stronger going forward and there's a bit more venom in the team when he's going forward.

2)We should start using Coates in the EPL a tiny bit more; Agger and Skrtel have made some VERY costly mistakes this year, the inclusion of Coates will keep them on their toes.

3)To everyone slating Allen, everyone acts like he is one of the senior players, when for me he has been one of the stand out performers of the season, and people are forgetting he's still only 22, yes he cost 15m but that's not his fault, he still has a year of good progress to be made, but imo he's one of the best already (in the EPL)and we can see him excel even more when Lucas returns and in his proper position.
Don't just dismiss what I'm saying as total rubbish just because I'm 15;)

cheers lads, YNWA HULLRED

Totally agree mate, the thing is 15 million isnt alot now in todays market, i feel people are only giving him stick because he is gonna still be in the side when lucas gets back, meaning lucas will be benched, i prefer allen anyway, even though lucas is quality

Oh ye we've been flying since Lucas got injured. Didn't notice how we ain't missed him at all. (Sarcasm)
JohnBoy

We've missed Lucas big time and when he's back, Allen will do his stuff further up the pitch resulting in better results for us! Brendan said he wants to build around Lucas, so why think he'll be benched when he comes back? Allen is certainly class and will only get better.

Keith

13 Oct 2012 13:26:21
Sorry, however, but Allen isn't class yet. Fortunately, he's got d chance and time to develop into one. Though not a bad squad player, for now he's not more than average. Truth!

The above post is so wrong! Allen is class!

We can't expect Lucas to come straight back in after hardly playing now for a year, he will be benched and eased back in hopefully, remember we have ruined players before by brining them back to soon, I would rather see Lucas benched for an extra 3-4 weeks so he is 100 per cent right for when he can start games

Having slept on my anger after watching Being Liverpool last night - I can't help thinking its like a sporting 'the office'
And you don't need to be a genius to work out who Brent is.

It's obviously doing the Job
The PR people want it to do

When even Muppets like you are talking
about it!!

Whats the point in that post, either get behind and support the team, manager and club or do one, simples

If you do not like what you are seeing turn it over,you have a choice

I want to support and question nothing

where do I get the required Labotomy?

"Exactly" Paisley's Genius

Who says 'simples'? Either a 5 year old copying the meerkat from the commercial OR a complete person. I fear the former answer maybe the closest to the truth.

Why is there so much negativity surrounding the documentary?
Personally,i like it. It gives me a chance to see more than i ever would. It's not badly done,and it gives us some insight into Rodgers way of thinking.
If it helps us gain some fans in America,increaing revenue,then that can only be benificial to the club.
Lets be fair,its not going to lose us any fanbase is it? Looking at it like that its only going to be helpful.
I've seen on this site time and time again that the profile of our club needs to be raised,So why is this a bad thing? Who cares what other clubs think?
WelshBoyDave

I think it has its good and bad points. It is bad that its a public affair when things used to be behind closed doors. Good in the sense that some of us get to see things that we normally wouldn't, I think it also makes us seem a little more accessible. Just my opinion though.

Nevada

Doing documentaries I'd not the Liverpool way mate. It's an absolute shocker. As it progresses you can see the players losing belief in Rodgers as the story of our season unfolds.

At least Rodgers will be able to see where he went wrong when he is sacked.

Gazman

Depends if the fan is an optimist or pessimist I guess. Some people only look at the negative side of anything, where as some people see the good. Personally I'm with the original poster and like it, we get to see what the manager and players are really like.

Red Raw

It would be better if we were going through a winning streak at the time of filming.

It's 95% good. 5% probably should have been included because the media seem to pick up on trivial things!

I've not watched episode 3 but so far the media seem to have picked up on:

1. Sterling getting a telling off = Brendan Rodgers is a bully

2. Meows = Players are unprofessional.

3. Picture of Rodgers in his house = Rodgers is arrogant.

Or, in reality:

1. Sterling needed a kick up the backside. See how he's doing now!

2. If that room was full of professionals (doctors or lawyers) who were friends then EXACTLY the same thing would have happened.

3. We have no idea who did the picture. His daughter? Swansea?

I think its good to see some stuff you wouldnt normally i agree and with that. i would just like to say is there any chance of somebody injecting some team fun on the bus like music r im sure they would have played cards when man utds biggest fan mowen was there joe cole was a bit of a joker that was it personally i think everyone needs to lighten up a bit you would think the players were going to hell instead of the h---ing hawthorns.Tommy Irish Red

I agree with the original poster, its great to watch how the club is run, how training is going and an insight in to how brendan rogers likes to work, who cares what other fans think, as far as im concerned i couldnt care less about other fans comments, clubs and the media, they are all anti-liverpool anyway, i guarantee if we had of started the season with a flyer nobody would be having this conversation, i still remain optimistic that we will have a good season under brendan

I disagree with the poster who says the team are losing faith B.R. I see no evidence if that! And the closed doors thing. Well,we are Liverpool football club. We set precidents. We are the first epl club to do this,and if it turns over into increases revenue for the club,you can bet we wont be the last.
Apart from tours,how else does one raise the clubs profile overseas?
Maybe its because im Welsh,and have no way of seeing the boys train(im 21 and i would be waiting with the little kids at the gates for autographs if i could). So would it be fair to assume other people with limited access feel the same?
Btw the kid who asked B.R if we are going to sign Dempsey,i laughed at that. You could see the smile on B.R face when he says "you like him do you?"
WelshBoyDave

Point 3 you mean you have no idea who did the picture. Common enough knowledge.

Just back from holiday and got to thinking how was it I sat in a hotel room watching Liverpool FC destroy and that is using the word lightly a couple of years ago Real Madrid and now we are where we are.British Media and all Rafa haters you got your wish shame on you. {Ed001's Note - actually I think you will find it was to do with 2 things. 1. owners who could not afford to finance the ridiculous demands Rafa was making and 2. the ridiculous demands Rafa was making. Though Parry has to have an honourable mention as being so useless as to mess up a vast number of Rafa's good moves and put him in a position where he was having to make ridiculous demands. Thinking about it, make it 3 things and add Parry as the 3rd!}

13 Oct 2012 02:14:14
Spot on ed1 I know raffa made some mistakes as every manager does but parry destroyed our club and that is unforgiveable. We are in mess coz of parry.

In that case parry should be reason number 1. (if you want to follow the evolutionary order)

At last - someone with a memory

Gazman

3 managers after rafa and none can say they improved things .we all know rafa had his issues but he is a red.

Where's the 'agree with Ed' button?

cozinoz

It's certainly been a reality check for me. I was so used to seeing us on the Champions League and also doing well in it, that I suppose I took it a little bit for granted. I used to be in a foul mood if we lost, but now I have learnt that it's only a game and to not let it get to me. Otherwise I would be pusses off most if the time!

Ash

Doesnt anyone remember that rafas last season we got knocked out off champions league in the group stages and then failed to qualify for the champions league at end of season, dont people remember players like, pennant, aqualani, dossena, keane etc, at least when houillier left we where in champions league, i will always be grateful to rafa for istanbul/athens but he spent alot of money and won 2 trophies, for someone to say 3 managers after rafa have struggled, that totally unfair on rogers, rafas gone so why cant we move on and give our support to brendan and the boys

12 Oct 2012 23:50:57
will people stop slating rafa the guy worked wonders for lfc, ohhh he bought some donkies...what about our current team? our best players except suarez are benitez, that includes our youth that br is getting credit for playing...cos he has no choice. lets not forget rafa didnt sign the cheques so the donkies was a gamble just like alves, jovetic, villa etc etc etc eetc was for other clubs who also rafa tried sign {Ed001's Note - Rafa never signed the youth players, he left that to the youth team he put in place.}
