If these deals do go through ill be dancing in the streets, but if they do its a big change in fsg strategy .
The negative side of me wonders if we are spending now anticipating the penalties of eds 002 smoking gun alert.

15 Jul 2017 07:12:06
What's the change from FSG? They have invested huge amounts in the club and ground. We are also one of the biggest spenders in EPL?

The prices in transfer market have gone nuts but the level of spend from our owners can't really be questioned.

When Lucas came in he had a really bad time. The fans were only too quick to pull him to pieces. OK he did make a lot of mistakes and seemed too slow and ponderous to be of any benefit to the first team.

I remember cursing my head off on more than one occasion due to stupid free kicks he used to give away etc.

BUT what a brilliant player and more than that, what a top, top man. He is the kind of person who most people would love to have as their friend, including me. I love the man and will be very sad to see him leave.

Makes you wonder if his shot hadn't been 'saved' by Neville in that derby, things might have been different! Still a legend in my view, been through good and bad times, without a bad word for anyone.

15 Jul 2017 01:54:53
Here's hoping Lucas gets the Anfield testimonial he deserves one day.

15 Jul 2017 02:44:43
I just finished watching Lucas: 10 years a Red on Liverpool TV. Good little documentary and reminder of the challenges he had.

14 Jul 2017 22:17:13
With the talk of Ox, Robertson, Keita and VVD signing for us by the end of the window. I'd like to hear people's thoughts on how well we've done (if we sign these players on top of Salah and solanke) because personally I think it would be a very good window and not only would we added quality and depth we'd also give ourselves options to play different formations and experiment, something I think would be a key against teams which are harder to break down. So I would be very happy if that was our business this window. Then next summer I'd add a quality LB, Striker and GK (depending on Karius and Mignolet this season) looking forward to the new season YNWA.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

14 Jul 2017 22:30:14
Personally think the pressure is on Bobby to step up the striker role, I'd love to see him smash it as I believe he does have real quality but consistent goal scoring is an area he's been lacking so if that doesn't change then maybe a forward in January or next summer. Though hopefully out of the 5 strikers we have at the moment one can step up consistently, saving us big money.

14 Jul 2017 22:37:13
Agree on Bobby HX. As brilliant as he is he needs to see the goal a bit more. Tonight was a prime example passing instead of shooting. A true goal scorer would've had a hat trick tonight it was there for him. He has it in him he just needs a mind change from provider to scorer.

14 Jul 2017 22:37:20
I'd agree with that 100%.

14 Jul 2017 22:41:45
As exciting as a couple of those signings are, personally I'm disappointed we didn't go for a world class LB. I'd agree that MIlner did enough to deserve another go there and Robertson may well prove to be that signing. But, we have money and CL football, something that no the guaranteed next summer window, this was the opportunity and feels missed.

I'm more interested, as none of those make me feel wow, what is going to happen to our 'talents' like TAA, Grujic, Gomez, Ward, Ojo, Wilson, Woodburn etc. I'm far more excited to see more of them and if they become their hype over Robertson or Ox.

{Ed025's Note - i suppose some people are never happy then max, i think if you get VVD, keita as well as salah and solanke it will be a tremendous window for the reds and even robertson will improve the side, i dont wish to be rude but you sound like a spoilt brat to me who will never be happy...sad really mate..

14 Jul 2017 22:57:15
I love how fluid our attack can be, mane firmino and salah with coutinho behind is just crazy!
If we get Robertson, VVD and keita I'd be pinching myself to wake up. 3/ 5 garunteed starters. And young promising striker. And a natural lb suited to the prem. what more could you ask for.

14 Jul 2017 23:00:47
Great window if all come off.

14 Jul 2017 23:00:55
Sense from a blue Ed? What's the world coming to? ;-)

{Ed025's Note - i dont want us to absolutely walk the league HT i want at least a bit of competition mate.. :)

14 Jul 2017 23:01:35
Have to agree with Ed025 if we got said players he mentioned I'd be delighted with this window.

14 Jul 2017 23:11:12
You might have to wait until next season to walk the league Ed! You lot will do well in the championship ;-)

{Ed025's Note - we shall see my friend, the city belongs to the blues now HT and our time is now...be afraid...be very afraid.. :)

14 Jul 2017 23:26:45
If they all sign it will be the best window in years! Robertson deserves a chance, just because he doesn't have a foreign name and cost a fortune doesn't mean he will be a failure. Solid young full back in my opinion and as posted recently, we've had some brilliant full backs on the cheap from lesser clubs. Rob Jones, Steve Finnan, JA Risse. let's hope he can be added to that list in the future! Exited by the news but not getting ahead of myself, nothing is final on any of the dealings yet.

14 Jul 2017 23:29:30
If we do manage to get VVD and Keita, I'd say that not only will it have been a successful summer window, but we'd be on our way to becoming real threats for EPL titles and a European powerhouse once again. Everything points in that direction. A hungry ambitious competent manager with a long term contract, a squad of young players with unquestioned individual skills and a style of football that is always a pleasure to watch. Sounds like hyperbole and exaggeration, but that's what I think.

14 Jul 2017 23:49:57
Thanks for the personal snipe 0025, very big of you. Thought it was ok to reply with honest opinions on the banter page? If Robertson is the big signing for the weakest position we have, then we're doing really well then. Keita has had one season to warrant £70m and Ed002, an ED I do respect, doesn't rate VVD which considering our public statement seems to further the embarrassment. Salah looks good, but was third choice
But yeah I guess not being moist for that makes me spoilt?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are doing what they can.}

14 Jul 2017 23:56:05
Put it this way if we sign those players realistically a good season would be 1) Winning FA or EFl cup (or both, unlikely though) 2) having a serious title challenge (hopefully we can win the PL, but wouldn't be too disappointed with a top 3 finish) 3) getting out of the group stages of CL (should we get past the qualifying round, still feel like we could get a QF spot) 4) try and give TAA, Grujic, Woodburn and Gomez a real chance next season (as I feel it's vital to play young players and they are our 4 best youngsters) some people might think that's too ambitious or not ambitious enough but I think that would be a very good season.

15 Jul 2017 01:56:35
Max your response kinda proves his point tbf, salah third choice or not is an excellent catch and ed1 has been wrong on occasion. If we pull off vvd and keita and keep our best players i seriously think we have a squad that could challenge. I makes me moist 😆

Dont let mk's negativity about keita's one season cloud your judgement. Ronaldo before he went to united was a one season wonder and look how that turned out. He is a talented young man who will just keep getting better and better. If we don't get him bayern or dortmund will snap him up and it will be another one we will look at in years to come and say damn that was another one that escaped us.

Vvd while being a bit adventurous at times is built like a barn door and could add the power at the back we have missed since sami retired. I like the fact that we have identified the missing pieces to the jigsaw as klipperty sees it and he has klopped to his guns in their pursuit albeit illegal at times but he knows what he wants 😂.

14 Jul 2017 22:12:50
So maybe Milner will move to RB this coming season or TAA be given a shot.

Sorry but Clyne is a bang average player. It was the same case with Skrtel who had no competition for his place when Carragher retired. Skrtel overstayed his welcome and so has Clyne.

Still cannot understand why there has been no urgency to sign quality fullbacks!

Believable6 Unbelievable11

14 Jul 2017 22:35:37
I can't remember the last time I've seen a player drop in performancesas much as Clyne has since he joined. He was decent enough on the ball when he arrived first, but gradually he stopped doing literally anything with it. And considering how much our fullbacks have the ball, that's a big problem.

You could predict what he'd do every time he got the ball towards the end of last season, because every time it would be the same: Take a touch, put his foot on it, hesitate and look around, and then eventually pass it backwards or maybe 5 yards infield if one of the midfielders had gone towards him. No crosses, never would carry the ball into space if it was available, would never try an early ball into the channel, wouldn't try a one-two to keep momentum going. Just slow down the play and a nice safe, easy pass every time.

I'd happily start Milner, TAA or Flanno ahead of him.

15 Jul 2017 01:59:50
I don't care what happens with Clyne I don't really think he is a world beater, but I don't think he is as bad as some people make him out to be.

Milner did well last season but he shouldn't play RB next season.

15 Jul 2017 02:53:05
He's getting the Glen Johnson treatment. ie. If he doesn't score or get an assist he had a bad game. Personally feel it is going to be a bit before Arnold can take his spot in the side and Milner should go again at left back unless we bring in Robertson (and even then I'd start the season with milney)

{Ed001's Note - Glen Johnson treatment? What is that when it is at home? No one is suggesting Clyne is lazy and can't be arsed to break sweat, like Johnson. Obviously you fail to understand what people are talking about, so made up some nonsense in your head.}

14 Jul 2017 22:11:33
Hope vvd and Keita sign soon doing me head in waiting. Have heard we looking at aubameyang again, has anyone got any news on this? Think we good to go for title with these 3.

Believable3 Unbelievable8

14 Jul 2017 23:29:17
Aubameyang will not be signing for us.

14 Jul 2017 21:49:13
Eds, do other teams have a 'macca'? Someone with reliable insider info to the club. I only care about Liverpool but I was wondering how unique it is to have macca around and interacting with supporters like this.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Other pages have folks who contribute a great deal (I will call out IronMike of West Ham who is good for news but he would agree overtly keen sometimes). Clearly one nice guy who contributes and does a great job. There is a country and western singer from north London called The Raver who has nailed the banter across the site and supports one of the north London sides - I can never get which. They would be the pick of two in addition to Macca that I would be happy to get naked with and drink Tequila.}

14 Jul 2017 22:02:49
As the kids t-shirt says in Bad Santa, sh*ep happens when you party naked.

{Ed002's Note - And pay a lot of money.}

14 Jul 2017 23:17:02
Ed2, have you been on the source?

15 Jul 2017 10:12:34
Macca is the source . Lol putney Red.

15 Jul 2017 02:03:14
What? of the nile? Oh you mean the devils nectar. Yes ed002 sometimes partakes, and hilarious with it to, not one of them mean drunks.

14 Jul 2017 21:35:02
a question for eds and macca would the signings stated possibly happening in his post conclude our window or just likeliest ones at the moment?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

14 Jul 2017 21:34:08
Good evening Ed001 and Ed002.

Youve both been a bit quite rver since Maccas news. This often seems to be the case ove noticed after he posts. Im not sure why, I hope all is well in camp. Your information and replys to our posts are much appreciated all year round. Please don't go quite on us.

Thsnks again.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i think you may be putting 2+2 together and coming up with 627 there MR, ED001 has been in bed for a while as he lives in dubai and will be up at 3am doing a shift, ED002 is a very busy guy who will be in a meeting or flying somewhere or even sipping cocktails on a deserted island in the tropics, we all have spells where we dont edit for a while so its not unusual mate...as tom jones would say.. :)

14 Jul 2017 22:04:00
Least we have Ed25, Everton fan or not, we're not all perfect ;) Lol appreciate your time ed25 mate.

{Ed002's Note - Cute kid, but like Ed007. Incredibly hairy feet.}

14 Jul 2017 23:06:07
So Ed2 is definitely a guy Ed25? Have you checked this for yourself?

{Ed025's Note - hes had more wives than iv had hot dinners HT so im saying hes not even gender neutral mate.. :)

14 Jul 2017 23:47:57
But have you turned him on his back like when you get a new kitten to see if it's a Tom or a Tabby? Or both? Wives or not the jury's still out for me.

{Ed025's Note - turning men on their backs is not really my bag HT..

14 Jul 2017 21:03:54
ed002 what do you think about markovic I thought he looked good at hull in the second half of the season do you think we should keep him this year as back up for mane and salah.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - It has been a mess (and a very expensive mess) since day one - cut the ties and move on.}

14 Jul 2017 21:36:49
If TAA keeps playing like this he is going to be close to starting against Watford. Fast, direct, far better final ball, has better vision. It's whether he can defend well enough against the top teams. Really like him. Looks a top player in the making.

Believable10 Unbelievable0

14 Jul 2017 21:40:41
True mate, better then Clyne already in my opinion.

14 Jul 2017 22:34:43
Going forward he is much much better than Clyne but defensively hasn't been tested much so only one way to find out if he can defend and that's to play him in big games.

14 Jul 2017 21:30:14
Wondering what everyone thinks of our potential signing of Robertson? Never really watched many Hull games so was wondering what the eds and posters make of him. Do you think that he's an improvement?

Thanks.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i think hes decent mtg, in a better side i think he will be fine and even though he may not be mendy he will improve the side mate..

14 Jul 2017 21:36:44
He will definitely be an improvement mate, he's not as bad as people make out, I've seen him play tons of times and he's decent, not world class sure but he's decent, he's better then what we have therefore he's an improvement.

14 Jul 2017 22:36:24
I agree with Teabag, he'll be a decent signing not the best in the world but better than Milner and Moreno and for no more than 10mil (I think 9mil is the rumoured fee) he could prove to be a good signing.

15 Jul 2017 11:34:12
Thanks for the replies.

Banter please eds.
Assuming the hysteria about Keita is true and he signs what sort of player is he and what will he bring to the team? I've never seen him play so I'd be interested in both eds and other posters views on him.
Thanks in advance.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Jul 2017 21:36:47
He is a very accomplished midfielder. he can play anywhere in the midfield attacking or defensively can pass he can score goals he can tackle and can turn defense into attack! Very excited about this one really hope we pull it off 👍.

14 Jul 2017 21:32:59
If he is to sign, I will put the price tag out of my mind and get behind him.

He is just a younger and more direct version of Lallana from what I've seen. Tricky on the ball, scores and creates a fair share, presses all over the pitch and loves running at people. He is just a much quicker thinker than Lallana though which will be beneficial. I do like him, I'm just not sure it is needed or value for money. I guess that is not my headache though, so I will just be happy that Klopp looks likely to get a primary target, who is definitely a very good player, even if the world class tag is a bit premature.

14 Jul 2017 21:49:54
I know YouTube isn't great but check him out on there, may give you an idea.

14 Jul 2017 23:15:04
Thanks for the replies fellas. I looked on YouTube but how much can you tell from that (if I had a highlights reel on there it would show the belter I scored with the left peg for my school team when I was 14 and miss out the many many howlers that I've had since! ) As always I'll get behind the lad IF he signs but the price seems high and firmino aside whenever we sign players that others deem too overpriced it rarely ends well. Fingers crossed though.
Cheers for the replies.

15 Jul 2017 02:07:11
Nothin like lallana at all, still trying to make light of this talented footballer mk.

14 Jul 2017 20:52:22
While City get Mendy we get bloody Robertson. Same old same old.

Believable0 Unbelievable18

{Ed025's Note - theres no pleasing some people..

14 Jul 2017 21:06:16
Have City signed Mendy yet? Atleast you should have waited for them to do that to make such a miserable post. Atleast support our players.

14 Jul 2017 21:10:24
Will you please give the chap a BLOODY CHANCE!

14 Jul 2017 21:25:48
How do you know Mendy will settle here? at least Robertson has experience, unbelievable 'fans' like you. Be all and end all is Robertson improves our LB position dramatically, so what if we didn't get Mendy? who cares? . Well obviously you do but many of us don't give a damn, try giving the lad a chance before slating him. I wouldn't mind, nothing is even confirmed yet lol!

14 Jul 2017 21:42:35
Is there no way you can ban morons like hesselred1 Eds? And this cretin calls himself/ herself a fan! give a players a chance and stop slating them before they have even signed let alone kicked a ball.

14 Jul 2017 21:32:46
Give the lad a chance blimey.

14 Jul 2017 21:44:30
I have seen Robertson play and he's woeful.

{Ed002's Note - Light aircraft, facebook, voodoo dolls - Robertson out.}

14 Jul 2017 22:05:24
Woeful? I don't think so mate.

14 Jul 2017 22:57:17
Sorry Hendos Heel I don't rate Robertson, that doesn't make me a moron.

14 Jul 2017 23:18:44
Like ed001 said earlier in the week, it's about the defensive unit as a whole not throwing together worldies. If he improves the team great if not Milner will be back in team and we'll try again next summer. At least we won't have wasted a fortune.

14 Jul 2017 20:41:18
Ed025

Do you beleive we will sign Keita? I think youve been asked before🤔.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - it looks very much like it MR, nothing set in stone yet though mate and i will wait until hes wearing a red shirt and liverpool scarf before i know its true, a lot can happen before that..

14 Jul 2017 21:30:56
Yes dead right mate. Fingers crossed.

14 Jul 2017 20:01:49
Mark Lawrenson is a miserable sod! That is all.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

14 Jul 2017 20:25:18
Awful commentary from him so sarcastic.

14 Jul 2017 20:27:17
He played for us late 70s and 80s.
Now he wishes we are what we were

He's not going to by over the moon is he?

14 Jul 2017 20:39:13
He chatting some absolute ring tonight, even by his standards.

14 Jul 2017 21:13:12
Fantastic player but my God he's miserable. Big Preston N. E fan I think.

14 Jul 2017 19:34:14
Having never seen Keita play but having studied his reviews, is it safe to say he is an attacking DM? A sort of cross between Kante and say Fabregas?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

14 Jul 2017 20:22:27
An attacking DM?

14 Jul 2017 20:58:18
B T B, that's BOX TO BOX.

15 Jul 2017 03:12:20
Okay BTB. Well I see Firmino as a defensive attacker.

15 Jul 2017 10:21:11
The thought of attacking defensive midfielder makes me ill.

14 Jul 2017 19:04:58
Naby Keita seems a bit more younger stevie g days than kante, would that be a fair assessment?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

14 Jul 2017 18:49:23
£8m for Robertson floating about.
Not in the know just rumours.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

14 Jul 2017 19:59:27
I'd want him to actually play for that much.

14 Jul 2017 20:22:03
Looking forward to this signing, I asked beginning of the week but nobody seemed to know, does anybody know if he went to Portugal with Hull city?

{Ed025's Note - i think he is mate..

14 Jul 2017 21:30:22
Cheers Ed25 mate :)

14 Jul 2017 18:03:32
Now that macca has told your vvd and keita are on, all im waiting for ised two to confirm/ deny through his/ her friend that we have bid and that is double proof for me.

but the eds are going to be bombarded with billions of questions about updates and hour, feel for them.

Believable8 Unbelievable2

14 Jul 2017 18:16:04
He didn't say they are on. He said he believes they will sign. Sounds like more of an opinion than a fact to me.

14 Jul 2017 19:03:21
He also said he has to be careful how he words things. Which sounds like he isn't able to disclose why he believes that, but i suspect it is more than just a belief.

14 Jul 2017 20:01:36
He can't commit because if he gets the slightest detail wrong- idiots on here slam him.

Lucky that he puts any info on here after the way he's been treated.

14 Jul 2017 20:53:21
Obviously it isn't a fact until the deals are announced, that doesn't stop me believing him though, he's probably just being careful with his words!

Harking back a few years, but wondering of the Eds can shed any light on the thinking behind the timing of the summer transfer window, when it was put in place 15 years ago.

I understand it starting on 1 July, but what was the rationale behind the decision to keep it open after leagues had started?

I actually think that is the most destabilising aspect of it, when you have deals going through after 3/ 4 games have already been played.

Thought the Eds may have heard about the thinking at the time?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - the whole thing was just about what the big clubs wanted and how it would be best for them. Nothing else was taken into consideration.}

Baz.

14 Jul 2017 17:18:13
Baz please refrain from trying to use banter in the banter section please. The uptight fans who are apparently not part of the problem do not appreciate it 😉.

14 Jul 2017 21:03:05
Spot on, Jezza. Calm down and enjoy the summer, OP.

14 Jul 2017 14:04:14
Nothing important, other posts if possible

Just curious if anyone knows who our current longest serving player is?
I think it was Lucas, but he's looking likely to leave.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

14 Jul 2017 14:16:10
Surprisingly I think it's Jon Flanagan who made his debut for us in April 2011 coming on as a substitute in a home game against Arsenal.
Next in line would probably be Henderson who signed for us in 2011.

14 Jul 2017 21:23:19
Reet, Lucas was signed in 2007/ 08 season. Also, Flanno's debut in fact, was vs City at home when he started at RB in a game where he played a blinder vs Tevez, Toure, Silva, Kompany etc and Carroll also made his debut and scored twice in a 3-0 win, if my memory serves me well.

14 Jul 2017 14:04:06
I've not seen keita, how good is he if we've offered £60m and how come no one else is trying? Are we wasting our time or is he not worth it?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Others are interested.}

14 Jul 2017 14:25:29
Ed002, if you have the time, other than Liverpool and Bayern, what other clubs are interested in him?

15 Jul 2017 10:12:00
Search function. But i think he said Barcelona and PSG were interested as well but not as a primary target.

14 Jul 2017 12:21:22
Morning Ed001 and Ed002

Do you guys know anything of this football lawyer Daniel Vanderkamp who has been quated as stating that Southampton and LFC have now started negotiations for the transfer of VVD?

I believe he is a French based lawyer, originally from the Netherlands.

Do you know if he would be privy to such information? If it was some garbage being wrote in a red top I would not waste your time asking, but it seems quite bizarre that a lawyer would want to put himself out there with such claims.

Regards.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I would completely put him out of your mind - he was simply a persona on Twitter as far as I know.}

14 Jul 2017 14:18:51
Ok thanks ED002 👍.

{Ed002's Note - You need to be very careful with playing on Twitter - football fans are very, very gullible (particularly Liverpool fans) and they are more than happy to believe some fat kid from Bolton and his invisible friend (Hanz Ernest Adaulfo) when the confirm that Naby Keita is awaiting his plane to take him tho Liverpool after a deal was agreed yesterday. Maybe Liverpool sent their charabanc for him? As far as we know there is only one truth bringer on Twitter:

https://twitter.com/WonderDogSparky

14 Jul 2017 15:24:00
will Navy Keita be replacing Kirikou as Sparky's roommate 002?

{Ed002's Note - The room is available for him.}

14 Jul 2017 15:57:31
So does Hanz Ernest Adaulfo not exist? 😩

Navy Keith will take Kirikou's place.

14 Jul 2017 13:53:47
Is Can's new contract a priority for the club this summer? Surely if it was it would have been done by now.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

14 Jul 2017 14:02:20
It will be announced once he returns for pre season.

14 Jul 2017 14:05:02
I think he's still away on holiday mate.

14 Jul 2017 12:50:48
Honestly! When we sign players that clubs are happy to sell they're deemed not good enough by most fans on here. Now we are trying to sign players that are integral to their clubs and teams and everyone's up in arms because we haven't sign 10 players 2 weeks into the transfer window! This will take time and do you know what? We might not get them! That's the nature of the beast unfortunately but I'll still be on the terraces this season shouting as loud as I ever have supporting Liverpool football club whoever is wearing the shirt! Rant over. Sorry.

Believable6 Unbelievable3

14 Jul 2017 13:08:43
I agree, big moves take time.

14 Jul 2017 16:08:35
Totally agree with what you said. Quality over quantity.

14 Jul 2017 12:15:56
Liverpool are a joke united man city cheateau pay what clubs ask for Liverpool haggle every they talk big but don't back it up we need a left back two strikers a c back two decent keepers relying on mane cut and fir up front get 90-100 goals a season is a joke origi sturdy ings should all be sold and stop pricing our own players out of the market get rid and bring in emprovements.

Believable2 Unbelievable20

14 Jul 2017 12:25:56
Seriously? Pretty sure gini lallana even Milner (penalties) contributed to us scoring goals. Salah will give us more attacking threat and if we sign ox and keita that's more attacking threat! You seriously need to get a grip, 2 strikers? Our Strikers are good enough at the minute for me, it's not like we're desperate for goals. Yes signing a luxury striker would be nice but it is NOT a priority. We have enough goals in our team. And 2 keepers? Im happy to give mignolet one last chance due to good performances last season, and if he performs poorly if happily give Karius or even Ward a shot and see what they can do. If we need to sign a keeper we will sign one next summer, same with signing a striker.

14 Jul 2017 12:26:29
I hope and pray that this is a troll or a sarcastic post.
And well if it isn't and it is indeed a "fan", well then you really need to switch allegiances.

14 Jul 2017 12:26:49
Nobody from the club has been "talking big" - whatever that means

You are getting mixed up with the tripe red top journalist write and the signings your school friends want because they bought them on FIFA instead of studying for there geography GCSE's.

14 Jul 2017 12:24:21
This post and you are a joke, two strikers?! Two more keepers?

Honestly, crawl back into your hole.

14 Jul 2017 12:30:29
In English please?

14 Jul 2017 12:30:59
Wow. this is utter nonsense.

In the last 10 years only 3 teams have scored more than 100 goals in a season and only 5 have scored more than 90.

You say to stop pricing our own players out of a move whilst also saying that we don't stump up the cash for players. Do you think the club have unlimited funds or something?

2 strikers? Really? So we would then have these two new players, Sturridge, Firmino and Solanke. Tell me one other team in the league that has 4 first choice strikers.

Some people are just deluded.

14 Jul 2017 12:32:06
From whence did you ryde from? Surely not from our solar system. Welcome to our world.

14 Jul 2017 12:52:03
Mowet, you're a joke. let's pay every club what they want for every player and see how long the money lasts this isn't fifa. get a grip.

14 Jul 2017 13:15:39
Wow calm down. This post takes senseless to a whole different level.

14 Jul 2017 13:40:18
That post seems very familiar to Mayweather

He's all about money but can't read.

14 Jul 2017 15:56:43
Redted I'm sure Klopp will be glad to know you're willing to give Mignolet one last chance and that the current strikers are good enough for you but only at the minute. You have definitely given him food for thought 😂.

14 Jul 2017 21:04:03
You wouldn't say that to Mayweathers' face.

Or if you did you'd be the one not being able to read.

14 Jul 2017 11:16:47
Just been watching Sky Sports and they have said that Liverpool are negotiating with Southampton about sigining VVD and also Liverpool bid 57mil for Keita which was rejected and will continue to discuss this transfer with RBL. If this is true then I have to say well done Klopp and FSG. Hopefully a LB will be brought in too as well as Ox (I still feel he could be good for us)

Believable11 Unbelievable1

14 Jul 2017 11:28:35
Eds has said we had the offer fir Keita turned down but I can't see that we are talking to Saints regarding VVD given our statement.

{Ed002's Note - It was some South African who said it on Twitter.}

14 Jul 2017 11:45:01
Gah. Where's Alansbarnet when you need him?

14 Jul 2017 11:46:40
If it's true that we are talking to saints and pushing through a move for VVD as well as Keita then those 2 players improve our starting xi, just a left back needed and we'll have a good enough squad to compete on all fronts next season. I still think ox would be a good signing but if we are going all out to try and get Keita then I'd be happy with either allowing Kent to stay and Ojo and they can act as cover on wings, or alternatively go out a buy Pulisic who is better than our youngsters but not quite at mane or salahs level, that's just my opinion though. Solanke, Salah, VVD, Keita, LB (likely to be Robertson) and ox would be a very very good window. YNWA.

14 Jul 2017 11:49:57
Cheers ed. Pleased im not on Twitter tbh.

14 Jul 2017 12:36:03
If we are talking to Soton in any way I hope it's in the form of a very long and heartfelt apology speech.

If we are still interested in VVD then I really hope that the conversation is going something like this "We are really really sorry for being total clueless ignorant arses. Is there any way that this can be resolved amicably between us? " And if they say no then we just move on and leave it.

14 Jul 2017 13:58:27
EpicPotato

Alansbarnet did actually make a proclamation that Keita will sign by mid next week 😂😂
It came over onto to the banter site.

14 Jul 2017 14:21:43
This is not a surprise. Klopp ain't going to do a Brendan. He doesn't have any alternative list. It's simple! I expect Keita to happen without a doubt!

14 Jul 2017 14:26:45
Probably 60 million of them RedDawn.

Its Unpalatable to us normal folk,
but like it or not, that's how our leaders choose to deal.

14 Jul 2017 14:38:57
When will people get over this Southampton apology nonsense. We've already apologised, publicly, so now their players are fair game again provided everything is done via the proper channels. let's not pretend we're the only club to have ever done something wrong but I don't see why we need to keep apologising.

14 Jul 2017 11:07:08
Eds or any reds that might know, Hard tackle are reporting we have had £70 million bid accepted for Keita! Can anyone confirm if there is any truth in this or are they an unreliable source? Cheers 👍.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - They are copying something from Twitter - this was dealt with yesterday.}

14 Jul 2017 11:15:41
Cheers Ed002 thought as much!

14 Jul 2017 10:56:47
Now I know from reading this site for a long time that the Ed's only deal with facts and do not get carried away at stories, twitter or any other sources.

I genuinely believe that Liverpool will sign both Keita and VVD, money does talk in football and Liverpool imo will pay enough to get the deals over the line. If RBL had not qualified for Champions League the deal would have been done already. Both players I think want to come to Liverpool, therefore if they pay enough it will happen.

A left back then added and it would have been one of our best transfer windows for a long time.

One thing I am surprised at is none of the Ed's seem to rate Klopp, correct me if I am wrong but I think he has done well in his short time, he has rejuvenated the Football Club with his passion and energy, I also think he has a very strong backroom which he has assembled. Let us not forget this is his only second full season in charge, last year they played some of the best attacking football I have seen for a long time, especially Aug - Dec.

If the window works out we could have a genuine chance of the title, supporters will get stressed with City signings but remember it is about assembling a team, something I think Klopp does well.

YNWA.

Believable8 Unbelievable3

{Ed025's Note - im a massive fan mfe..

14 Jul 2017 11:33:52
I agree completely regarding Klopp. Best thing to happen to our football club in years. Has players and fans on his side and will deliver us back to where we belong. eventually.

14 Jul 2017 11:45:49
I want to put this in such a way that it doesn't sound too negative or disrespectful, I am aiming for factual qnd honest.
You say klopp has been fantastic, however what has he actually achieved. Rodgers at times played fantastic football, and whatever anyone thinks, when your team is doing well, the crowd are always more up for it.
You say it's only his second season, conte won the premier league in his, Jose won 3 trophies and was considered to have failed due to his poor league position, however we would have knighted Klopp had he achieved the same (myself inclused to be honest) .
Money has been available, we Havent spent it, we went in to last season with a smaller sized squad, a riak that paid off some might say wifh a decent league position at the end. But to be honest, I rather believe both arsenal and utd threw the 4th spot away, not saying we didn't deserve 4th, but I think can count ourselves fortunate to have achieved it.
The broken promises, the transfer Fiasco's, tapping players up etc etc hasn't painted mr klopp in the best way, and although not solely to blame I'm sure, is risking the future of the club in transfer market.
I do support the manager of course I do, but I do not see him as the messiah either.

14 Jul 2017 12:04:20
In Istanbul you must be one of the supporters who left at half time.

14 Jul 2017 12:34:18
Actually Dudley I'm one of them supporters who goes to the majority of matches.
Let me give you a great example of something that bugs me massively and is a good example of fickleness.
michael owen.
When I first started visiting anfield it seemed like we would always sing that song "michael owen scores a goal hallelujah ". Like Gerrard his performance or atleast goals won us the f. A. Cup against arsenal. All of this has been forgotten about because he signed foe man utd, which let's face it at the time was his best offer, and let's be honest most of us would have done the same. He's hated by a lot of fans, yet suarez is seen as a god, and torres also. MO was very successful at Liverpool football club and deserves a lot pf plaudits for his achievements but does not eeceive them. Rodgers came within a whisker of raising the EPL title, but is considered crap.

14 Jul 2017 12:39:32
There is a lot to admire about Klopp but we do tend to exaggerate what's happened since he got here. His one achievement is that he got us into the CL at second time of asking which was the minimum aim. If he brings in trophies over the next few years them he deserves all the accolades he gets but he hasn't earned them yet.

14 Jul 2017 14:20:01
Its a fair point.

But if you added up the money that Utd gave Jose to spend and along with Ibrahs wages, add that to what theve spent in the last few years.
then you get a slightly different picture.

14 Jul 2017 14:22:14
Istanbul, I don't agree with the part of "Arsenal and Utd threw 4th spot away" . That is false and unfair to Klopp and the players as NOTHING was given to them. No one saw us making CL footie last season and we were better than both teams (who spent much more than we did), scored more goals, had more points and were undefeated vs both teams (beating Arsenal twice and could have beaten Utd had the ref not missed a clear offside by Valencia) . We got what we deserved and credit should go to all concerned. Comparing him to Conte is pointless as he had a much better squad of players who had won the PL two seasons before and may have won it again but chose to use the season to get their manager sacked and take a season off.

Also, I don't think people are saying that he is the Messiah, per se. I think people are just relieved to see some progress and improvement in performances and results, those facts cannot be denied. Also, BR left us in dire straits when Klopp arrived and we were able to pick up the pieces in that season and got to two Cup finals and put ourselves back on the map in Europe again. Now did we win them? No and that is disappointing but one cannot deny that we are a much better team now than when BR rightfully got sacked.

Now is Klopp infallible? No and I am actually worried about some of his mistakes are becoming a huge problem BUT there are inherent problems with our club that pre-date Klopp and he can't fix everything at once. He needs to adapt and learn to think before he speaks but all in all, he has been very good for us. Improvement is indeed needed regardless tho.

14 Jul 2017 14:25:52
Jose has won 3 in his debute season while Klopp bottled 2 finals! Conte won the PL title in his first season.
Fact! Like it or not!

14 Jul 2017 15:11:36
I wasn't comparing managers tbh, just pointing out the obvious in what they had achieved and how they were being portrayed.
Like I said I didn't want to be negative, however some peoole are are blinded. Finishing 4th was great, as I pointed out, and to say utd and arsenal didn't lose points stupidly is completely untrue, because they did, and money has nothing to do with it. You could eadily say we threw points away and perhaps deserved/ could have had more. But what happened happened and that's how it goes sometimes. to point out we were unbeaten vs the top 6 sides is irrelevant, there are 19 teams to compete against, to be successful you need to beat them all I'm afraid (or u get what I mean) .
I'm not anti klopp, might sound it but I'm not. I also won't lie, he certainly isn't my preference but I'll support him and more importantly Liverpool always.
No idea why people feel the need to get so aggressive on this site, especially when people are talking facts.

14 Jul 2017 21:29:48
The standard of squad that Fergie took over at Utd is nearer to what Klopp inherited at Liverpool.

It took him 5 seasons.

Jose inherited a squad 2nd to none and had his choice of any players in the world.

Big difference.
Look at Pep as well.

14 Jul 2017 10:33:46
Have to say like the look of Ryan Kent
The few times I've seen him play he looks very strong fast and direct I'd live to see him get a chance really do hope he's not sold and hope Stewart stays think both are very good players but we seen over ran with midfielders.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

14 Jul 2017 10:53:07
Stewart can't make a forward pass, he can barely pass sideways. Everything is backwards. Far too slow with the ball. Can't believe he's still at the club.

14 Jul 2017 11:53:05
Stewart's also 23 so can't even be classed as a youngster.

14 Jul 2017 09:55:19
Reports that Chelsea and Arsenal are swapping Matic for Oxlade-Chamberlain, hopefully this kills of the rumours of a transfer to us.

Believable8 Unbelievable10

14 Jul 2017 10:21:29
Yes because Chelsea replacing Moses with a far superior player and Arsenal replacing Coquelin with a far superior player will do wonders for Liverpool won't it 🙄.

14 Jul 2017 10:34:52
Us spunking £30m on a player who doesn't improve our starting 11 doesn't do us wonders either. He can warm the bench and treatment table at Stamford Bridge. He is a very very ordinary footballer at best.

14 Jul 2017 10:35:12
It has no bearing on us at all MK, the only effect things have on us is the business we do! Pointless worrying what other sides are doing, we can't control that.

14 Jul 2017 14:19:09
Was never happening. Our efforts and interests are on Kieta.

14 Jul 2017 14:23:59
MK, worrying about other teams TW business will only make you miserable. Not bothered about what others do altho I will say that Chelsea are welcome to Ox and he can be their problem on the treatment table.

14 Jul 2017 09:47:37
For Ed02 if possible,

I apologise if you have a page for generic questions, however, I wondered what "Loyalty Bonus'" were actually made up of, is it a % of wages on remainder of contract? Is it signing on fee? I apologise if this is tedious question, however a response would satisfy my curiosity no end.

Thanks for your time and effort

All the best.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It is case-by-case and accounted for as taxable income (wages). Some clubs roll them in to the wages and some clubs pay them as a one off and some clubs don't pay them at all.}

14 Jul 2017 13:55:13
Thats great. Really appreciate your response Ed. Have a terrific weekend.

14 Jul 2017 09:48:41
Have to say I do like the look of Grujic. He showed last pre-season that he has a real eye for goal, and it was a pity he suffered the injuries he had.

He has started well this time too, and is obviously fit after featuring for the Serbian U23s this summer.

We're reading about all kinds of midfielders we could sign, but don't forget about who we already have.

I think - and hope - Grujic gets plenty of pitch time this season.

Believable14 Unbelievable0

14 Jul 2017 10:26:31
He has everything to be a great player, hopefully he gets a good few games under his belt this season to start getting used to the power and pace of the English game because in the couple of games he got last year before the injury he was caught in possession a lot by holding onto the ball too long (a lot like Can to begin with) .

It would be really nice to see one of these young, potential stars signed from abroad actually make it with us!

14 Jul 2017 10:32:27
Completely agree mate. I know almost everyone wants Keita, but for me Liverpool need to decide the futures of Allan, Grujic, Ejaria, Chirivella, Lucas and Stewart first.

They are all good enough to be squad players for the first team, so there really isn't room for another centre mid until at least 3 of them are sold or loaned. Personally I'd be holding on to Chirivella, Grujic and Ejaria as they are good enough to play senior football, but young enough to still play U23's when they're not picked and need to stay sharp. Allan won't get a permit, Lucas is at a stage where he wants to play and Stewart is at a stage where he needs to play.

I really don't see the need for midfielders though. With Coutinho, Henderson, Can, Lallana and Wijnaldum all competing for the starting roles, we are well stocked and if we want a different option, we should look to or own younger lads before signing somebody elses 22 year olds.

14 Jul 2017 09:33:55

Morning Everyone and Happy Friday!

Ed001 Just watching the season review of 87/ 88.

Just sitting here remembering the good old days.

And it got me thinking if John Barnes was playing today in his prime as he was for say three seasons up until 1990/ 91.

1) Would he have been good enough to play for any of the top sides in Europe?

2) And what would have been his value in to today's market?

Just watching him down that left wing, his skill, the way he could get to the byline and whip a ball in is something we, right now are crying out for!

Just a light hearted post to take us away from the same questions being asked over and over again.

Cheers Danny.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - 1. Yes. 2. No idea. I doubt anyone could afford to buy him.}

14 Jul 2017 09:33:20
Refreshing post, niceone mate.

14 Jul 2017 10:28:30
If Digger was playing today he would be up there in the Messi, Suarez, Ronaldo bracket, a truly phenomenal player!

{Ed025's Note - he was good scarface...but lets not go over the top mate..

14 Jul 2017 10:09:21
So true Ed001.

Just his turn of pace was crazy, I mean it looked like he wasn't running particularly fast but he was.

For me, I dunno we paid was it £800.000? in 87 and he had everything you would dream of in a left winger, so his price today for me would have been close to the 100 million mark!

I'm just thinking is there anyone like John Barnes in today's game?

Cheers Danny.

{Ed001's Note - no one really mate. The game has changed a lot, there are very few wingers left.}

14 Jul 2017 13:36:04
I met him in Dubai and he seems a very nice man. He is up there with Kenny!

14 Jul 2017 08:20:12
Hi ed01. Do you see Grujic getting much of a chance next season and do you know if klopp rates him?

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - yes and yes.}

14 Jul 2017 08:53:17
Cheers ed pal.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

14 Jul 2017 09:18:36
I really like grujic, altho rash at times i like the edge he has. He is also very talented and we got him on the dirt cheap. He can be a very special player if he works hard.

14 Jul 2017 09:25:32
Last pre season he was special, he has his first pre season game this time around and scores a corker. I think this season is his time to shine.

{Ed001's Note - fitness was the main issue for him last season.}

14 Jul 2017 09:42:38
Yeah Ed1 unfortunately so mate, I'm hoping he can now stay fit, injury free and beast it.

14 Jul 2017 08:19:32
Two horse race for Aubemeyang between Liverpool and Chelsea apparently according to press this morning! I understand that Klopp and Aubs are not best buddies!?

We'll probably just buy an Aubergine and a Boomerang!

Believable5 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - It has cokme from the Sun apparently. I am not aware of any approach from Liverpool to Dortmund although both Chelsea and Milan are interested - although Milan don't see value in the price. I suspect he is also thinking about patching things up with Dortmund. We will have to see.}

14 Jul 2017 09:48:36
Ed, we've probably not felt the need to approach Dortmund.
Gone straight to player and agent instead.

Videos compiled
Tactics discussed
Bonus package offered

Some point we will ask if all that's okay with them.

14 Jul 2017 11:11:45
Thanks for the reply Ed002

As much as I'd love to see this happen, even if Klopp was interested, Aubs goes against FSG's apparent ethos of signing players with some sort of re-sale value.

Although goals wasn't really our main problem last season, well scoring them at least wasn't, conceding on the on the it her hand. so it's not like we are desperate for a player of his calibre, it would still be the 'marquee' signing that some fans expect to see in transfer windows!

I guess Liverpool will always be linked with him until his future is decided.

{Ed002's Note - Ethos?}

14 Jul 2017 12:21:48
Ethos - Strategy
Potato - Tomato :-)

{Ed002's Note - Right. I see}

14 Jul 2017 13:46:00
AC Milan's spending scares me 😳.

14 Jul 2017 07:24:29
Ok, so we've only signed Salah and Solanke. Lots of posters freaking out about lack of signings so far. So what? Am I the only one who thinks that we actually have a decent first 11 with a bit of quality to support? If you judged our 16-17 season pre January, you'd have thought we were shoe ins to lift the trophy. I repeatedly said I would be happy with top 4. We got that and have added a couple, with no real reason to think we won't add a couple more. It's mid July. Let's say we add a couple more, hopefully starters and not just potential. Is this the end of the world? Correct me if I'm wrong but there is no ACN to take away Mane and Salah. Me thinks we should just take a breadth.

Believable8 Unbelievable4

14 Jul 2017 08:41:39
It's more the way the club is going about things.

A decent first 11, yes. But with the CL and 2 cup competitions, I for one would be happier if we sign another 2 or 3 players.

14 Jul 2017 09:30:50
Agreed Burkey.

14 days in, still have another 46 days left?, let's see what happens. a lot of people like to get dramatic about not signing more then 2 players in 14 days, lol. Let the club get on with their business and we shall just wait and see. It's not over, till it's over.

{Ed025's Note - your right teabag...adele is only just warming up her vocal chords mate.. :)

14 Jul 2017 07:15:36
Hey eds, question if I may. your thoughts on Carragher the player? Emotions aside. If he hadn't have been a local lad my thoughts are he would have been let go fairly soon. decent player, hardly great.

Believable1 Unbelievable12

{Ed001's Note - I disagree, he was far better than you give him credit for, plus he was a leader on the pitch. It was nothing to do with him being a local lad, he was kept because he was good enough to force his way into the team every time a manager tried to replace him.}

14 Jul 2017 08:13:13
There are plenty of "local lads" that haven't had a sniff. Why were they not kept? You don't play 500 odd games, play in Champions League finals out of sentiment. Pretty daft question really.

14 Jul 2017 08:15:59
Hardly great? you obviously didn't take notice of him much then? he was absolutely brilliant in my opinion. You don't get to keep in a team like Liverpool for that long if your just a 'decent player' mate.

14 Jul 2017 07:43:35
That's right Ed001. The guy could actually play and wasn't just an out and out defender who would just clear the ball each and every time. I've had more than a few pints with the lad I'm happy to admit. I remember after he played for England at OT one Saturday arvo and then showed up for a quiet pint with his mates in Bootle that very same night. I thought to myself, "if that was Beckham there would be photo's being taken everywhere and headlines in tomorrow's rags. Try getting a snap of Carra in a dodgy bootle pub with a few of his mates around, it's curtains time sunshine :)

{Ed001's Note - he was a regular in Sullys.}

14 Jul 2017 09:41:45
Carragher was a very very good defender, nails hard and ultra competitive. He was also single minded and very driven, which is why he made it. You never once saw him give up or throw the towel in. Playing alongside Hyypia helped a lot in my opinion.

14 Jul 2017 09:52:05
We all dream of a team of carraghers! Well definitely a couple for the back four, not sure I'd want him up front for us.

14 Jul 2017 10:11:32
Heart of a lion. He was no stranger to scoring either - I think he was the third highest scorer against LFC after Drogba and Van Nistelroy.

{Ed025's Note - very limited ability wise RP but his commitment seen him through..

14 Jul 2017 10:36:24
I'd have him in my all time greatest team alongside Hansen. Legend is a fitting and justified term for once.

14 Jul 2017 10:46:05
He done exactly what he was there to do. DEFEND! Limited? What, limited to defending? Ok so he couldn't play like half the defenders of today, and they can't defend like Carra. Give me an out and out defender over a fancy dan ball playing accident prone John Stones type any day of the week. tell you what, if VVD is priced at £60 million then today Carra would be £80 million! Remember him in the CL final? Colossal.

{Ed025's Note - he done very well for himself welsh and i applaud that, would he be in my top 100 defenders?of course not i have seen milk turn quicker, besides drogba owning him and henry making him look like a statue not many fancied playing against him though...and he is a very good tv pundit..

14 Jul 2017 09:17:12
Hi Ed1, Do you think if Rafa hadnt put him at CB, do you think he would have played as many games or stayed so long? I have to admit when at Full back it didn't suit him, as he didn't go forward much (probably under instructions)
His type of player is sadly missing from the game now, commitment, organising, shouting instructions!

{Ed001's Note - it is impossible to say but centre back did suit his style much better than other positions he had played, though he could have played the role Rafa converted Lucas to play instead.}

Reading through a lot of the posts about strikers and I can't help but feel that a lot of the posters have forgotten about Ings' qualities.
Klopp likes a front 3 with a high work rate, usually a main striker with 2 other forwards buzzing around.
Ings' work rate is phenomenal and his finishing is great. He could quite easily play as the main striker or in one of the supporting roles if he comes back with the same tenacity and pace he had before this drawn out injury mess.
Its obvious he is showing Klopp that he has something to offer as he he isn't being mentioned as a transfer or loan out.

Ings needs to be playing regular football. With the CL this season, the domestic cup games may give him that opportunity.
I do rate the guy and think he deserves a chance, my only worry is can he stay fit for a decent period of time?

14 Jul 2017 13:14:26
Thanks Eds, appreciate the time. would i have him back. of course. but it was his commitment and his leadership that helped, something that is lacking generally in today's world, let alone football. But without those ( i. e. : if he had been playing for a team he was not so attached to), i doubt we would have seen the career he had. still a legend though . no doubt!

2002 has got to be one of the worst years for transfers.

I reckon 1939-44 was a pretty bad period.

The summer of Roy Hodgson stills haunts me.

14 Jul 2017 09:44:11
I have nightmares every night about it carra.

14 Jul 2017 02:50:26
When Emre Can is signing new contract? He is important player to the club. Keita is not happening so we need to keep him.
Thank you.

Hey guys, a couple of posters were asking a few things about the football fantasy league.

Since it wouldn't be right to discuss all that on here, the Eds have created a separate Fantasy Football page on the football-rumours.co.uk site.

Come over and pay a visit there if you have any questions.

With the addition of Salah to our attack, studge looking fitter and with Mane and firmino being more settled, anyone else think we must be clear favourites to be the top scoring team next season?

Believable7 Unbelievable5

14 Jul 2017 01:56:49
I hope studge stays fit and can get that confidence in his body back. long rehab process and he is still in it, but he started to look sharp at the back end of last season. hope that it continues for him and for the good of the club too.

14 Jul 2017 02:26:33
If we are not the top scoring team we will be top 3. The question is can our defense cut out the cheapo goals?

14 Jul 2017 05:40:32
We should definitely be up there in terms of goals scored and hopefully we will be better placed to deal with sides that just look to park the bus.
However I can also see city hammering a few teams this season the options they have going forward look a bit lively.

14 Jul 2017 06:45:13
I'd just like to see Sturridge get the service he craves so he doesn't continue to drop deep to pick up the ball. Sometimes that can work, for sure, he steps onto his left and let's fly, but that can only work so often. Solanke looks like the type of out and out forward that maybe Sturridge is not? Not saying I would start the young lad ahead of him, but it gives us options.

14 Jul 2017 13:51:00
Studge dropping deep is part of his game, Burkey.
