Raheem starting for England in the World Cup!
This time last year he wasn't even certain of being on our bench!
Well done lad and well done to Jordan H.
You've both climbed mountains

Think he has been England's best player so far (sterling).

Que Joel Campbell posts!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Jun 2014 23:56:18
Ha I was thinking exactly the same thing. Most people who clamber after him after one performance probably won't even know he is an arsenal player or the issues they've had with his work permit for the last 3 years!

Fellow Liverpool fans.
I have been a Liverpool fan this past 40 years. Traditionally however this is where you and I part company.
Let me explain:I am from Ireland. As such I'm supposed to dislike England. In previous world cups and euros this wasn't much of a problem. I mean, your press bummed you constantly and shamelessly up and then mouthed on and on about 1966 blah blah blah. However, this year you seem much more humble. Then you have 5 or 6 Liverpool men in there. Who I cheer every week. Therefore with bated breath I say something I never thought I would.
Good luck tonight, England.
(I'm only whispering it though).
( And I backed you to win too).

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good luck England.

You'll need it as you're crap.

Oh yeah, good luck to the players when they get hounded and ostracised by the vermin vulture-like press for failing miserable, and not winning the world cup like they were expected too.

How ordinary is Uruguay without Suarez. If someone pays more than 20 mill for Cavani, Then he is biggest dumb ever.

Does anyone know if welbeck is starting ahead of sterling Barkley ox and lallana? I really hope not.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Rumour is sterling and lallana

Agree0 Disagree0

They said at half time during the Uruguay game that Sterling isn't in competition with Welbeck, he's in competition with Lallana, so it looks like it's going to be Sterling or Lallana, not Sterling or Welbeck.

I might just like to add, that is absolutely outrageous. Both players are better Welbeck and both should be ahead of him in the pecking order.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jun 2014 21:43:40
Well there it is. You're right, outrageous from hodgson. But to be honest, are Liverpool fans surprised at a dodgey selection? Koncheksy. poulson.

TjRed

I didn't mean that mate. He is excellent, So therez a host of clubs behind him.
TBH, The players which we bought in last 3 years apart from Suarez, where pretty ordinary
Countinho and Sturridge were out of favor at their clubs.
And look at the player we missed, from Micky to Salah.

Agree0 Disagree0

You have to remember Home_Fan, Liverpool weren't competing in the Champions League for the last 4 years. Naturally, we wouldn't be signing the "top quality" as they all want to play in the Champions League, now is a slightly different affair. We're in the Champions League therefore we can(costs aside) sign top quality players.

Agree0 Disagree0

Harry I've been biting my tongue reading your posts for a while now but you don't half chat some rubbish you say we haven't signed anyone decent in the last 3 years then in the same paragraph proceed to name 3 decent signings 2 of which would be in the running for the best buy per value in the prem for a good few years just stop making a mug of yourself and stop feeling the need to nit pick on every other post. Apologies for the rant everyone else.

Ed
Will Liverpool be in trouble in accordance with financial fair play as we have qualified to Europe

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed030's Note - I am struggling to understand this question, sorry. }

14 Jun 2014 17:38:00
I think what he meant was now were in Europe do our previous financial results come under scrutiny by uefa. I.e. can we be punished on previous financial results that occurred whilst we weren't in Europe. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - All returns since they started being collected are relevant.}

Ed if I was to hazard a guess I think the question is based on the ffp only applying to champions league qualifying teams? If that is the case.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - UEFAs FFP applies to all UEFA competitions.}

14 Jun 2014 16:04:56
I was surprised the site was not inundated with rumours for a Fernando Torres return after last nights
match (not). I wonder if they still think he plays for Liverpool over in spain because I can't imagine how he got into their WC squad.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Jun 2014 18:20:33
So you think he only got into the Spanish side because they think he plays for Liverpool?

What a stupid comment

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he meant "do they still think he plays as he used to play for Liverpool" ;)

Hi EDS, just wondering have we got any interest in Blind from my point of view I think he's a better player and cheaper option to
moreno.?
Is it also true we have opened talks with firmino?. I also seen that Liverpool are happy to make a mega deal for shaqiri to bring martinez with him I think it was 45million all together for both of them or do you think it's a load of bull?.
And is there any updates on.
Shaqiri
Lallana
Lovren
Moreno
Thanks Eds.
Sorry for all the questions Eds just feels like these players can make a difference and push us for trophies and I fell we might lose out once again to other clubs.
Thanks again.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has shown no interest in Blind. Is someone teasing you on Twitter - is that Puonds or euros? RTP or UTSF for the rest please.}

14 Jun 2014 15:17:08
GiveMeSport are saying that Ronaldo is not happy with the proposed purchase of Suarez.

Even if this is true, I can't imagine a single players opinion would affect the transfer strategy of a club like RM, but then again he is the best player in the league.

I know its not exactly the most reliable of sources as well, but have any Eds heard anything?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - RTP or UTSF,}

For a good while I thought UTSF was STFU in yoda speak (urban dictionary taught me this.)

-there's talk on firmino on lfc radar and available for 15M. young n good dribbler with trickery.any idea was it true or just media?

-talk to bring shaqiri to anfield still on going? or at the moment just inquiry?

Hi eds

I've seen you said BR has less control because of the recent transfers that hasn't worked out. Does this mean the players we have signed this window he hasn't had much of a say in? Or would he still have to agree with them?

Thankyou

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - He has a significant say in all transfers.}

14 Jun 2014 16:39:17
Ed002, I think He has complete control on the transfer.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Not at all Harry. Ian Ayre, Dave Fallows, Brendan Rodgers, Barry Hunter and Michael Edwards are all involved.}

14 Jun 2014 17:40:48
The model in England is for the most part different to Spain. Generally the managers aren't forced to take players they don't want and do have a significant say in who to get. It's not like football manager though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Who are these other dudes?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Ian Ayre and Brendan Rodgers work for Liverpool. The others won a competition in the Liverpool Echo for three fans to join the transfer committee. Fallows is a retired plumber, Hunter installs satellite dishes and Edwards is a chimney sweep.}

I entered too but unluckiky I lost out to those 3 lucky dudes awesome response tho

So Daley Blind is the first player every LFC fan is clamouring for on the back of a good performance!

We see players do well at the WC and then not full fill the potential. I could list them but you know whom I am talking about.

Yes, he looked excellent the other night and if you look at report about him when he has played for his parent club, looks like he can fit into the style of play BR demands.

He can play LB, CB, DM, LW so is adaptable in a number of positions. Another thing BR likes.

He is 24 so, should his fee not be excessive would have a resale value. Something the transfer committee would see as a plus.

The internet is awash with reports that LFC fans would welcome a move for the player.

So lots of pluses for the boy.

The only negative? LFC have shown no interest in the player.

I wonder if that will change over the next week or two?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Talk about adding fuel to the fire. Lol
If Liverpool had scouted him all year then fine but if we went for him or any player on the back of a good World Cup then I would be disappointed.

Agree0 Disagree0

I preferred that right back janmaart. Very solid

14 Jun 2014 13:50:09
He looked really good yesterday. In-fact was the standout player for me after Robben

Not just motd fever he played every game for the dutch in qualifying I've seen him play a few times now and have been impressed if not to expensive could suit us quite well but can't see it happening

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jun 2014 12:21:03
Is Daley Blind as good as he looked last night? Anyone interested in him? Could be an option for Left Back and can play in a 5 if BR chooses to do so.

Hi eds, its being reported by bleacher report that we have opened talks with Hoffenheim Over the transfer of Roberto Firmino. Also that we value him at around £15 mil. Any truth to this? Thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Lallana, then Shaqiri again and Max Meyer yesterday, Firmino today - must be exciting times.}

14 Jun 2014 13:33:32
Lol I'm sure thew will be another 500 added to the list befor the wc is over. I can imagine the eds sitting down to put some posts up and constantly smacking themselves in the face while crying into a glass of red. Sure if Chelsea can keep the 25 cm's they have happy we can surely sign another 12-13 without a problem this window. We can then spread out the £200m we spent on CM's over 9 years so we can stay inside ffp. Then pay 300k a week per player, but spend another £86m on agents and coffee cake. Bath Salts. the players get signing on fees of bath salts. So eds as money is our favourite topic dose that sound about right and within our means? All sorted happy summer eds.

Yay I love silly season

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jun 2014 15:16:46
Ed002, Its true that Chelsea had an interest in the player. Has the situation changed? (Sorry if its been asked)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - A lot of teams have shown an interest in Firmino. Nothing has changed.}

14 Jun 2014 12:04:28
Would there be any chance of javi Martinez given that he had a limited role in the Bayern team last season.maybe we could tempt him with first team football and champions league.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No chance.}

14 Jun 2014 13:50:54
Do we have another 30mill to shed?

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jun 2014 11:57:50
I really want England to set up like Liverpool tonight, 4 at the back a diamond in the middle and 2 up top.
Gerrard in the holding role, hendo and Lallana in the middle, sterling at the top and Rooney and Sturridge up front.
The reason why is I want to see how Lallana does playing there, a little preview maybe?
Plus all the Liverpool boys will be in their best and most familiar positions.
I think sterling will probably play there but I know it's wishful thinking with Roy in charge in regards to the way we will play.
I can see this being the first real low point of a so far excellent World Cup. England and Italy I find really boring. Let's hope we at least get an early goal to make it interesting.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Think you will sadly be disappointed!
Maybe I will be surprised but do not see England playing anything like free flowing attacking football, although I have strangely put a bet that we will win comfortably! Could not help myself but unlikely

Agree0 Disagree0

I won't be disappointed Gareth as I too think it's about as likely as Roy hodgson getting married to Pamela Anderson. Haha

@ Harry

You believe Lallana is 110% nailed to join LFC? What I am trying to figure out is whether you are being sarcastic?

Bournemouth are waiting for their 25% out of the deal. Now if reports are true that Southampton rejected an offer of £25 million from LFC then how much do you think Southampton want to clear out of the deal after paying the 25% owing to Bournemouth?

Go work it out Harry. How do you think LFC will pay for Lallana because according to my calculations and what I think Southampton will want to clear then their is just no way FSG will agree with you that Lallana is 110% nailed on to join LFC.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Max

There'z nothing to work on, He is the only player we have had concrete interest and 2 bids.
All the rest are Rumors and paper talks.
We would defo meet Saints valuation, That's for sure.
BR is a huge admirer of him and wants him at any cost. He would get his man.
The rest, Bourmouth or whatever, isn't Liverpool headache.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lallana won't be coming to Anfield.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jun 2014 15:44:53
Ozone

I am sorry, But you are wrong this time, he would be a Liverpool player

Agree0 Disagree0

Harry, do you really think the owners will pay £30 mill for Lallana? I can't see it mate, it's £15 mill max with this lot.

Agree0 Disagree0

Harry, FSG are remote owners, they're clearly comfortable in sending out Ian Ayre to do the dirty work with cheeky hard faced bids, they test the water in and around £15 mill every time to ensure its gilt edged their end. As you have said in a previous post Mikey, Salah etc, there's no difference with Lallana, it won't happen. The Swiss lads more likely as he suits the budget.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jun 2014 21:35:49
We are in CL and BR is getting a lot of credit, If BR wants Lallana He would get him.

I can't believe that Brendan has splashed out good money on Emre Can or Chan or whatever his name is. I got him in a pack on Fifa 13 and he is only a silver. Last night, he missed a tackle for me which led to them scoring a goal - what the hell was Brendan thinking? He's clearly going to be a flop in the Premier League after such a poor showing. Yes it is a video game and yes I was controlling him, but surely Can has to take most of the blame. Come on Brendan - have a word.

BTW - that was sarcasm.

Realistically, I personally am very excited about the signings so far. Brendan is going about his business swiftly and surely and long may it continue. In Brendan I definitely trust.

Eds, quick question what's the status on the 90,000 players that we've been linked with, preferably add to that a review on each player and a likelihood of signing each one.

Jokes aside, can you make the search function bigger or just hand out glasses for the majority that clearly are blind!

P.s good luck for silly season!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

There should be a warning box that pops up when you click on "post banter"
"Have you tried the search function?"
The eds have done a great job this World Cup, I expected the site to be absolutely rammed with MOTD fever posts.

Eds fellow reds, there's a lot of talk about arsenal wanting reina? Don't think we should sell him not to a rival anyway .IMO I would keep him at ANFIELD and tell both keepers one will play league other will play all cup games as soon as one makes a mistake or not pulling there wait the other keeper will take place.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool needs the money and will be looking to sell Reina.}

14 Jun 2014 10:11:16
How would Reina improve Arsenal, If he isn't getting a chance at Liverpool. I would happily sell him to Arsenal.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jun 2014 09:03:19
Good morning Eds

A couple of things mate if I may please. Do you expect a bid from us on Shaqiri at some point?

Also is there a chance that Reina could stay with us and compete with Migs for the jersey next season?

Thank you

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Done to death - try the search engine.}

Dezmondo, I have come to the conclusion you are taking the p*ss, you have asked the same questions (do you think we will sign, do you think we will bid etc etc etc) about numerous players and probably the same player over and over again, I cannot believe the Eds even bother telling you to RTFP, Try the search engine or simply done to death.
So you are taking the p*ss aren't you? or do you just have the memory of a gold fish?
Eds, surely you must be thinking there is something not quite right!
PS, Dezmondo, You are not the only one but I reckon you are the most prolific.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jun 2014 08:46:19
Here's hoping Spain play Reina now after that shocker by Casillas. It would be a very good shop window for him. Been a very good player for us but the club have moved on so would benefit all parties.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would think de gea is next in line before reina.

Agree0 Disagree0

How is De Gea next in line before Reina? He only got his spot because of Valdes's injury.

Eds,

Can you see Seydou Doumbia moving this year? Surprised he hasn't been picked up by any of the bigger european teams. Has a very good scoring record. Wondering is there any particular reason he hasn't been picked up?

Cheers,

Hi eds, hope you're all enjoying the WC so far, just wondered about Iloris and Kelly, I've heard that Kelly will possibly get a chance at CB next season (which is where he played in the academy) if this is true where does this leave Iloris in the pecking order if he comes back from loan this season and will he get a chance too?

Many thanks

Henlow red

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it is up to Ilori to want to fight for his place, or it is likely he will have to be moved on. If he is willing to fight for it, he will have as much chance as Kelly.}

Why is Vidal so highly rated I think he is nothing special never did he's useless

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he is carrying an injury! He is a fantastic player when fit and not just coming back from knee surgery.}

14 Jun 2014 09:41:21
He is an exceptional player mate. One of the very best in the middle.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jun 2014 10:53:52
Vidal is the best central midfielder that Juventus currently have and they have a full set of world class CM's. Pogba, Pirlo & Marchisio are the other 3 and all of them could walk into any team on the planet pretty much. Vidal is getting back to full fitness and when he does Chile will play even better.

Agree0 Disagree0

I seen him in the champions league he dived for a peno and made 2 stupid tackles both worthy of a red card
A few games I watched him he wasn't grate but maybe that's just by chance he is rated high sure ill see why in time
