Thank you Edoo2, great podcast.

Best football site on the planet.

Believable12 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - We appreciate that.}

15 Mar 2017 01:19:16
I would say Universe Ed.

{Ed002's Note - Thanks Barry.}

15 Mar 2017 14:50:50
Multiverse?

15 Mar 2017 21:30:55
Multiverse Ron really?

15 Mar 2017 21:33:52
Thanks for the Sharkopod your time and knowledge are appreciated. Much better than trawling through all the media crap! Its fair to say that the targets with our most interest are Brandt, Williams or Dembele (difficult to pull off) and the kid from Forest. Obviously not all of them the rest depending on outgoings and othe things.

14 Mar 2017 21:19:47
Ed001 what do you think of moussa dembele the Celtic striker? Do you rate him? ? Good signing if we got him?

Believable4 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - yes, he could be a good signing, if he works hard. He has the potential to be top class, right now he is still just a kid though.}

14 Mar 2017 22:29:16
we won't get him . probably chelsea.

14 Mar 2017 22:42:04
Can't see the hype tbh he's scoring for fun in an average league against average players, the premier league is completely different. Anyone Remember Gary Hooper? Scored goals for fun for Celtic and was linked with us and united numerous times then went to the premier league for Norwich and did nothing. I know all players are different but I think the jump is to big.

14 Mar 2017 22:52:18
Chelsea also have interest then ed? Do you no Who else mate?

{Ed002's Note - Manchester United and Bayern Munich have both been aware of Moussa Dembele since his time at PSG and were both interested in signing him when he opted for Fulham as a 16 year old. Newcastle, Lille, Juventus, Napoli, Liverpool, Wolfsburg, Marseille, Everton and Spurs had also been looking at Dembele since the start of last season before he opted to move to Celtic for the playing time. Recent glances from Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Monaco have led Celtic to put an unrealistic price on the player that could block any move in the short term.}

15 Mar 2017 06:50:08
Ok mate fair enough, lots of interest in him then, as you would expect I guess. Could come down to who is prepared to offer crazy money.

15 Mar 2017 10:29:27
Cyklopps henrik Larson managed it well. So it obviously can be done. And dembele is young so room for improvements.

15 Mar 2017 10:39:14
Fulham seem to have a decent youth system, whether it's youth scouting or development. Recently we have Dembele and Sessengnon.

Are they widely regarded as having a good setup, eds, or is it just luck? If the former, what do they do that we don't!

Thanks

Z.

{Ed002's Note - Sessegnons - there is a twin brother being watched by another Premier League side. Fulham took Dembele from PSG at a time when Manchester United and Bayern Munich were interested.

Generally, in answer to your question, London clubs benefit from two multi-tiered clubs that have developed many players who have gone on to play at the highest level - Chelsea, Spurs and West Ham have always had a good relationship with one in particular - Senrab.}

15 Mar 2017 18:31:52
Thanks for that Ed002, I enjoyed the latest sharkopod too! Just wiki'd Senrab and wow, there's a lot of top level players there! If you don't mind me asking, who is the other London amateur club?

{Ed002's Note - It is the Hackney and Leton collective that play on the Hackney Marshes Z. Beckham and others who struggle with English as a first language started there.}

15 Mar 2017 21:30:00
We already have a young, promising striker in origi, there are plenty of big name centre forwards on the move this summer so if there is ever a time they will be in surplus, it is now.

14 Mar 2017 21:07:38
Great stuff Ed002 with the Sharkopod.

I really just want to put it out there, anyone expecting or wants Van Dijk to arrive in the summer at Liverpool need to have a real strong and hot cup of coffee or refrain from using cheap substances as it it is not going to happen. The reason why are because Van Dijk would not be worth the money and he is the most overhyped CB since Lovren. You just need to add 1 + 1 to see that Van Dijk is an accident waiting to happen and is a signing that could cost Klopp his job and do not see Klopp being as daft as some of our fans wanting Van Dijk at LFC.

Sweet dreams.

Believable7 Unbelievable5

14 Mar 2017 21:21:34
Yes van dijk overhyped but yet the best CB in the prem.

{Ed001's Note - no he is not. Have you never heard of Spurs? They have two better than him, for starters.}

14 Mar 2017 23:06:23
Toby ya but the other one is not that's just my opinion.

14 Mar 2017 23:12:43
Matip, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Bailly, David Luiz, Fonte, Koscielny are all better Cbs than Van Dijk. Where is all this love for VDV coming from? Or are so many LFC fans craving for our very own John Stones?

14 Mar 2017 23:40:39
Our very own John stones?

15 Mar 2017 08:20:19
Abo, remember all the hype around Stones before signing for Man City? A ball playing CB with no defensive nous. VDV falls into a similar category but slightly better defensively. He is also part of an extremely well drilled, settled and mean defense which makes him look better than he actually is. Even Lovren looked good at Saints. VDV is just another flavour of the month fantasy that will result in one unfortunate club wasting over 40 million on an average CB, and i pray that it is not LFC.

15 Mar 2017 08:28:54
He's no better than Lovren.

15 Mar 2017 09:16:47
I'd rather see Scott Dann play in red than Van Dijk.

15 Mar 2017 17:37:56
Yeah for Barnsley.
Scott Dann is not good enough for a top 4 team.

15 Mar 2017 21:23:50
We are not looking at any defenders is also a worry considering we are very close to the 50 mark of Goals conceded this season yet again 🤔.

15 Mar 2017 21:25:32
I think he is an incredibly talented player and will go on to have a great career at a top club.

15 Mar 2017 21:26:51
It doesn't really matter Indian. There could be a few more better than VDV. But are we going to get any of the names mentioned? NO. VDV is miles better than Lovren + Klavan + Gomez put together.

15 Mar 2017 21:39:21
"VDV is the best CB in the PL". Only to those who watch football with their eyes wide shut. VDV is as overrated as it comes in the PL. People really need to watch him closely and you will see why cos I have. He as all the tools to be a top class CB BUT believes in his own hype and doesn't work hard enough hence, he's lazy, lacks concentration and is always caught out of position hence, he has to engage in last ditch tackles that make him look great on MOTD highlights to the "experts" on here. Why was he always making last ditch tackles? Cos he's always out of position, simple.

There was another ex LFC defender who used to do that a lot and many thought he was a great defender and that was Skrtel. It took a competent manager to confirm to us that he was crap all along and got sold. VDV is not woth the time nor the hype so NO, I don't want him.

15 Mar 2017 23:02:13
John stones is not from Liverpool. Therefore not our very own.

16 Mar 2017 11:25:47
Ron - I'm not saying he is. I'm saying that Van Dijk is a fraud and barely an improvement over Lovren, if he is one at all.

14 Mar 2017 19:59:18
Thank ed002 for the podcast:)

Believable4 Unbelievable0

14 Mar 2017 20:39:47
right folks. if we were to get 5 new players in the summer. which positions would you like them to fill. i'd like new proving experienced goalkeeper . left back . proper vocal strong center half. good holding hard man in midfield and sanchez.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

15 Mar 2017 07:13:03
Being unrealistic degea gk, the young celtic lb, medeldm/ cb, Suarez striker, a left winger also a right back that can defend and cross would be nice. Don't get to watch as . uch footie as before so rough choices tbh. 5his involves developing players like gomez and possibly taa or Flanagan at right back.

15 Mar 2017 21:02:38
Top keeper (Pickford), solid left back (Robertson), centre back with leadership (Dann), midfielder with balls (H. Herrera), and an out and out left forward (Brandt) .

However, from the sharkopod it would seem we are more likely to see:

Gk: Pickford/ Ruffier
Lb: Pereira
Young LB: Sessengon/ Tymon (with loan back)
LW: Brandt/ Rafa Silva
ST: Andre Silva/ Dembele
Young ST: Brereton.

15 Mar 2017 21:24:46
lol Sanchez 😄. He is done and dusted withTop 4 trophy, Y would he move to Europa League?

Awesome listen, thanks Ed002!

{Ed002's Note - Thanks - you are welcome.}

14 Mar 2017 18:15:17
Cheers Ed002, it's refreshing to hear our targets are ones that would improve the first team rather then just the squad.

14 Mar 2017 19:02:32
Amazing as always! Gutted Sparky was visiting family though.

Sounds like we have serious interest particularly in Pickford, Sessengon, Pereira, Brandt and Brereton with potentially one of Dembele or Andre Silva to replace Sturridge.

Just looking at the above though makes me feel that Firmino and Coutinho could be off? Brandt and Dembele/ Silva would surely be signed to go straight into the front 3 with Mane. For the amount they would cost it would be almost ludicrous for them to sit in the reserves!

Sounds like we might be looking to get things right for once though. You are a legend for putting this together for us!

14 Mar 2017 20:30:48
MK - isn't this the model?
Buy potential, develop and sell for profit and then re-invest?

14 Mar 2017 18:48:46
Excellent pod Ed002. Thanks for your time and effort on this.

14 Mar 2017 19:40:23
I be a happy boy if we can get dembele from Celtic. But thanks for the information ed.

14 Mar 2017 19:45:43
Great work ed002 😘.

14 Mar 2017 23:15:27
Question for Ed002:
You mentioned that Klopp wants to sign a striker plus a winger (most likely Brandt) . If Sturridge is the only forward on his way out, where does that leave the likes of Ojo and Woodburn who would likely be 7th and 8th choice of the forwards at the club? Or is this in preparation for Coutinho or Firmino's departure? And is Clyne also likely to move on?

{Ed002's Note - I don't think Klopp sees Ojo and Woodburn as more than squad players. There is nothing to say that they are looking to move Clyne on at this time.}

14 Mar 2017 23:24:10
If Brandt and another forward do arrive, I can see Origi and even Ings being pretty miffed. OR Coutinho may potentially be sacrificed to bulk up our forward line in preparation for additional European games next season.

15 Mar 2017 07:17:18
I dunno how you'd fit it but I loved seeing couts in the middle with sss in front of him running.

15 Mar 2017 07:18:20
I don't think we should start sacrificing players and we definitely shouldn't start with Coutinho.

We'll find a buyer before it comes to that 😉.

15 Mar 2017 08:17:16
Ron, I never said we should start sacrificing players for new ones. But Ed002 has just mentioned we are actively trying to sign Brandt and another versatile forward (Dembele or Inaki) and signing two of those players will go north of 50 million GBP just for bulking up an already strong forward line. Where are all those funds going to come from? I just have a feeling Couts will be off in the summer and maybe that is why two forward players are being targeted.

15 Mar 2017 14:52:00
I was only joking IndianB.

The idea of ritually sacrificing players 😉.

15 Mar 2017 13:06:50
Fantastic podcast, thanks Ed2. Hypothetical question: if all three of Lucas, Grujic (loan) and Can left this summer would Klopp look to replace them with players already in the squad or would he look to the transfer market?

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - He would need one replacement certainly - then perhaps Kevin Stewart or Pedro Chirivella would get a chance.}

15 Mar 2017 21:24:05
To be fair though AggerDo, it is buy potential, maximise their value, buy bigger potential with the proceeds. FSG don't exactly shy away from reinvesting the cash!

I love Firmino and Coutinho. But they have 15 league goals combined. Not being funny but Andre Silva at 21 years old has 15 goals to himself, and Dembele at 20 years old (albeit In a weak league) has more like 30.

Stats can be misleading in most cases but when it comes to your forwards you solely judge them on the goals they score, because that is their primary job. Pressing, link up play etc? That is just an excuse for players not putting it in the net enough.

Mane has 12 goals alone despite going to the AFCON for a month. That is double what Coutinho has and 3 more than the so called main striker Firmino. Coutinho and Firmino as stunning to watch as they are ultimately flatter to deceive. So it would be sad to lose them, but I think we need to shed some of our fancy players for more effective players.

Coutinho on 6 goals is in amongst Lallana (7), Milner (6), Wijnaldum (5) and Can (4). Is that really good enough for your first choice left forward and supposed go-to-man? To be outscored by left backs and rotated midfielders?

15 Mar 2017 21:13:34
Dembele or any striker will replace Sturridge while Brandt is the only additions to the squad.

15 Mar 2017 21:42:47
Indian, if we have CL footie then Couts will stay another season at least. People are complaining that we don't have depth nor enough good players and when we are trying to get them, others say we should not cos Couts or whoever will be miffed or off. It' Professional Football, lads! Competition is premium and if you can't hack it under competitive conditions in training then by all means, be off.

14 Mar 2017 14:54:40
Ed001. The Echo have announced that the Kop will have a summer face lift to add an extra 470 seats to help accomadate disabled supporters. But in then sais the capacity will not drop below 54000. I don't quite get it? If the sears are extra then surely the capacity will go up?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - obviously just poor use of English mate. They clearly mean there are extra disabled seats going in to replace normal seats, rather than as extra seats over and above what is there.}

14 Mar 2017 15:03:32
Ah I see. Cheers mate.

14 Mar 2017 22:14:20
Good on them. My uncle was disabled but his favourite footy club (who he would go watch every game) had a special section set aside for him and his carer (and other disabled fans) . He loved it - was the highlight of his week. Well that and his weekly lunch at the local with his best mate. But he loved the camaraderie with the other fans. They all knew him along with the stadium staff. And because it was a special section it didn't get in the way of the other fans either so didn't cause issues.

{Ed002's Note - It is an FA mandate and not the choice of the club Phil.}

15 Mar 2017 05:14:14
Good on the FA (for a change)

14 Mar 2017 09:36:10
Not to sure if you have covered this Ed001 but I was wondering if I could get your opinion on two players first one is Fabio Aurelio I always thought he was class fantastic left foot but always struggled with injuries one of the best LB we have had in the modern era, second player is Jerzy Dudek I was always wondering why he left after the champions league win and Pepe Reina was brought in was he forced out or did he want to leave? always be a hero In my eyes for that double save against Shevchenko and the penalty saves thanks in advance.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I loved Aurelio, his problem was that he would get in the team, play crap for a few games, then he would have a worldy only to get injured the following game for 6 months. The guy couldn't even have a kickabout with his kids in the garden without suffering an injury that saw him miss half a season! He was made of tissue paper. Such a shame because he was awesome on his day.

Dudek was simply not seen as good enough and Reina was seen as better, plus Rafa wanted a Spanish spine to build around.}

14 Mar 2017 16:57:36
Technically the best left back in the last decade or so. He was bloody good. Excellent left foot and very good defensively. Aurelio minus injury is a gem.

15 Mar 2017 09:22:47
I don't remember much about Aurelio in open play, he never filled me with that much confidence tbh. But those set plays. the talent and the intelligence that he had were an unspeakably dangerous mix when he stood over a dead ball.

15 Mar 2017 11:39:39
Sadly Harry we never saw Aurelio without an injury - he'd have gone down as one of the best had he had more luck on the injury front.

14 Mar 2017 07:42:48
Question for ed01 if he's around.

Can is someone who's been in for a lot of stick on these pages this season. I personally think whilst he can be very frustrating, he's has undoubted talent.

What do you make of klopp and his claims he's been playing through the pain barrier for quite some time? Do you know anything about this and do you think therefore it's a large part of his poor performances this season? I can't help but feel if it is true then Klopp should have taken him out of limelight and given Stewart some more opportunities?

Can also claimed the contract stall isn't about money - can you shed any light on this?

Thanks in advance for your time and insight!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - are you suggesting Klopp was lying? He has had an injury he has been carrying, but only he will be able to tell you how much it affected his performances. Personally I feel the stop start nature of his season has hindered him far more. He is still learning the role and has been in and out of the side and in slightly different roles. It is not easy for him. Carrying a knock will certainly not help.

As for his contract, he wants games more than big money.}

14 Mar 2017 08:54:10
Ed01, do you think he will get game time in the future considering the interest in Brandt and Coutinho likely to move to midfield? Or do you expect to see Coutinho still playing as a forward?

I still think Klopp judgement in signing Wijnaldum was questionable, considering the numbers of players we have that can play in the midfield.

Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - if Can fails to sign his contract, I expect him to move on. If he signs it, it will be because he is going to be given game time.}

14 Mar 2017 11:30:12
It's refreshing to hear that that is the reason Can has been stalling. That's the sort of attitude you want in a player, that was one of the reasons he came to us rather than return to Bayern isn't it ed, thought he would get more game time with us?

{Ed001's Note - yes, it was the pretty much the only reason.}

14 Mar 2017 12:19:06
hi ed,

definitely not saying klopp is lying - I actually found it good to know his poor performances could be down to injury troubles.

I was more asking the question if it is the case, why not take him out of the team. a lot of fans have got on his back as a result.

{Ed001's Note - because he was seen as the best available option. Sometimes a player needs to play through an injury to get used to it and pick up their performance.}

14 Mar 2017 12:29:30
With that said then ed and if he is going to be given more game time then Klopp must rate him and have faith in him that he can improve his game. I just don't see who misses out when Hendo is fit? Also there is no way we can buy anymore CM's without some leaving.

{Ed001's Note - Klopp is trying to build a squad to win some trophies, rather than just a team to win somematches.}

14 Mar 2017 12:46:09
ok fair enough, thanks for the responses Ed.

I hope it works out for Can, I think he could be awesome in a few years and hope some of the fans have more patience with him.

{Ed001's Note - thank you, hopefully we see a special player in time. Either way he deserves our patience for playing out of position for long periods of his time with us without moaning.}

14 Mar 2017 14:46:04
Can is average at best.

If we wish to move up, we need to look for better than CAN.

He has got decent/ plenty amount of opportunities and his best is avg. There must have been a reason Bayern M did not exercise their option of taking him when they had it.

If we are fine with 8 to 6 or 5 th place finishes, we can carry more of his types.

Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - actually Bayern wanted to take him back but he chose to come to us instead. Must be a reason though hey? So we can ignore your comments as the ridiculous knee jerk reaction they are.}

14 Mar 2017 15:38:49
We need to agree to disagree on Can, Ed01.

This is not at all knee jerk at all.

I believe he has got enough opportunities to justify/ show his potential/ talent and he hasn't made great use of it.

Not sure if he can improve further as we still don't know his best position/ attributes.

Yes, he is young, has good stamina to burn and can play different positions ( BR and German national side used him as a right back on most occasions) .

But skill wise he is very limited. He looks good while running with the ball but most of the time has 0 end product.

I strongly believe if others like Tex or Grujic get the same chances as him, they could also show what they have got.

So in effect keeping him will not improve us greatly from where we are now. So him leaving will not make much difference either.

Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - let's just all be grateful you are not involved if you are judging players so quickly. He is still young and learning, his passing and vision can be excellent at times. Rodgers never used him mostly as a right back, so clearly you are not even watching him, so pointless having this discussion with someone who has never watched the lad.}

14 Mar 2017 16:36:05
Coutinho moving into midfield has nothing to do with Can. Can is deployed as a DM or Deepest midfielder. If anything Lallana would be sacrificed for Brandt and that's rightly the case in my opinion.

Can is not a DM and I doubt he will ever be one, That leaves his place in theam a big doubt. He is never going to to replace Henderson and even in his absence I would prefer Paredes or someone who has played that position previously. Precisely Can is surplus and Klopp is struggling to fit him in the team.

14 Mar 2017 17:02:08
Aparrently Klopp said that is Why Joe Allen moved on because he needed more regular game time to reach the next level of performance.

Does this make sense?
Surely it has to be the clubs aim to get every player signed playing at his highest level for our club.

And not to move somewhere else and start playing out of their skins.

14 Mar 2017 18:35:41
Not slagging Can off as I really like him as a player, I just think he as the ability to score a lot more goals as he as a cracking shot on him.

14 Mar 2017 22:14:35
I am 100% sure BR played Can as a defender. Whether it is a right sided defender or Right back. we can always argue.

Also Joachim Low brought on CAN as sub couple of times in friendlies / whenever he was selected. I am 100% sure of this also.

How ED01 says it is not correct is beyond my imagination.

German fans here can confirm if this is correct or if I am talking BS.

Looks like he is Can is the flavour of this week because of his goal and suddenly we have supporters praising him and saying he has good shot on him. If he really had that he would have showed it already with so many appearances.

Also I remember one of the Ed's saying/ writing here that he has turning radius big vehicle recently when he was not doing well.

Aslo also his contract situation when he is demanding more game time makes me feel he is not really that good.

Why would anyone was assurance if they are really good?

Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - hardly an argument, he played as a centre back most of the time, there is nothing to argue, you were wrong. He played more often in midfield under Rodgers than he did at right back. You may be 100% sure, but you are 100% wrong. He has 7 full caps under Loew, 3 at right back, 2 at left back and 2 in midfield. Hardly a lot to go on to decide what position he is for his country, as it is clear he is suffering from playing lots of positions for them too.

What the hell is some of this crap got to do with anything, other than proving your ignorance? Having a big turning circle has not stopped many players having a great career, and pointing out deficiencies does not mean he does not have qualities, which you seem to have missed.

What kind of world do you live in? You think someone wanting assurance of game time means they are no good? Perhaps you should tell that to Sanchez, who wanted assurances of game time when he signed for Arsenal. Is he not very good then? Arguably the best player in the Prem is suddenly not really good according to you then....}

15 Mar 2017 05:19:27
Nothing against Can, but Kloppo needs to watch his mouth when giving assurances of game time - I'm thinking Grujic and Karius.
Why do players insist on assurances anyway? They should prove themselves in training and on matchday. That is the only assurance they should ask for and receive - if you prove it in training you will start the majority of matches.

17 Mar 2017 10:56:55
Who does Karius and Mingolet have to prove themselves to in training?

Or Lovren when he is fit?

They are all barely bang average players with the possibility of Karius improving in time.

But until they have competition in training from higher quality players it's hard to see how they will improve.

13 Mar 2017 21:01:10
Hi Ed's

just finished watching the U23 game.

I have got to say we do have some talent in our ranks, i just hope that we do something with it!

do you see us using Gomez for the remainder of the season at all?

TAA, Gruijc and Gomez standout for me, although everyone put in a good shift!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Gomez is very much in the long term plans, but it would take an injury, or a couple of meaningless end of season games, for him to get much more time in the league this season.}

14 Mar 2017 06:45:19
Is there any chance of TAA getting game time?

{Ed001's Note - without injuries he will get sub appearances.}

14 Mar 2017 15:12:27
It was an excellent performance from the U23s and Chelsea barely got a kick. Lovren played close to 60 mins, partnering Gomez at the back. TAA has been excellent this season but let's not get carried away, this is his first season at the U23s after stepping up from the U18s. He will be fine as 2nd choice for Clyne for the time being. He also needs to grow physically.

A word for Matty Virtue who was very impressive; playing alongside Stewart and Grujic, he was everywhere, doing simple things and breaking up play.

14 Mar 2017 16:34:01
Thanks for the reply Ed001 would it be safe to read into that, considering his age that they see him as being one to come through to regular first team in the next couple of years?

{Ed001's Note - yes.}
