Loan update,

Luis Alberto assisted the 1st and scored the second as deportivo beat Rayo Valecano tonight.
He was subbed on the hour mark

Long time Norwegian reader of these excelent site, finally posting for the first time here.
Its sadly some troubling times for our beloved club, and I am like many others also worried on Rodgers ability to establish this club in PL top four.
I would just express how impressed I am about Bob Bradley, and the work he had been doing in Norwegian football. In front of this season his team Stabæk was doomed for relegation by every single expert in Nowegian football, mainly because Bradley lost 6-7 important players. Bradley managed to replace them, and also replaced them with players that fitted exactly into Bradleys system.

Stabæk has been playing som exciting football, and are now the second best team in Norway. I know its far from directly comparable to EPL, but Bradley is a true rock solid football caracter. He is a no nonsens kind of guy.
His own words about his future do fit well on to Liverpool FC doesn't it? :

"I’d love to go to any club that has a way of doing things - that history. Where could that be? It could be in a lot of places"

- Bob Bradley

Bradley has done some great work at Stabæk with very limited funds, but i havo to say that Tippeligaen is one of the worst leagues in Europe and Stabæk was underperforming before he took over. But again i have to say that i am impressed with what he has done, and the way he want his team to play.

I would rather have a manager who can do what he does, turn around struggling teams, regardless of the league, than a struggling manager that takes his teams backwards and under-performs on every level.
I know there is an argument that he hasn't done it in a top league but neither has Brendan.
Surely can't be that much difference for a manager to go from Norway to England? A player yes, but manager? If he is tactically sound and gets the best from his players wherever he goes then why not?

Hi eds
Just a question about firmino.
do you expect him to improve a lot or do you think he may take a very long time to adapt to the league? Or is this a case of Rodgers once again playing somebody in an ineffective position?

Just asking as I'm slightly worried because I haven't seen many encouraging signs.

Thanks

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - He is a decent player. Try not to have too high an expectation of him - Liverpool paid well over the odds. Quite where he will be used going forward is a little unclear - as it is with Sturridge to some extent.}

14 Sep 2015 20:31:23
i think firmino may take a season to get used to the prem , let's give him a chance also he is not playing in his ideal position , its all down to BR its weird all these players who play so well before the come to our club play bad they lose all confidence and don't play in their proper positions , why can't BR just use a system where all the players will play in their proper position and then they can show how good they are , he is that arrogant that he thinks he knows best even when we play so bad he says we play well and blame everything else except himself instead , he escaped the sack by blaming his coaches , he can't blame them now , its all down to him including the players losing confidence or not playing to their potential like firmino so give the lad a chance he has shown in germany what he can do let's just wait till BR goes and then you will see the real firmino

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I don't think it is arrogance, I think it is ignorance. He simply doesn't watch them enough to know where they usually play. He simply is not working hard enough and spending enough time watching football.}

14 Sep 2015 20:42:58
Liverpool paying over the odds? Go away, haha.
And how are we supposed to know where Firmino will fit in when the manager obviously doesn't?

Agree3 Disagree0

14 Sep 2015 23:22:20
Firminho is a offensive player and will not be any good if stuck in a defensive RM position. He is very clever in the way he moves in between the opposing defenders and midfield, has a nice touch on the ball and good short passing game, exellent in creating space for others and drawing defenders out of position. He can use both feet allthough he's left is not the best. Playing him out wide like he played against Manchester, is like playing Markovic on the RWB. Absolutely weird.

Agree6 Disagree1

15 Sep 2015 05:30:17
It is down to thr way the team plays. Firmino doesn't know who to pass, when to pass, when to move into space etc. That will hopefully get better as he plays more. I however wholeheartedly disagree with the notion that he is underperforming because he is playing out wide. Firmino played a large amount of time as the left sided midfielder for Hoffenheim, and had no problem being effective. He is better when partnered with a forward, to play as a number 10, but he is definitely intelligent enough to play out wide and be effective. This is the same with Lallana.

Coutinho is the guy who needs to play more centrally as a 10 IMO, though I agree when he is absent, we can play Firmino there if required.

Hi Eds,

What are the chances of danny ings getting run as no 10 or no 9 role. He has show lot of intent when he was given chances in both games and has been running around putting pressure. He looked better when he was around box. I was very disappointed to see him play out wide. Is that the only position he could play in PL this season.

Thank you.

United fan in peace

Have been reading a lot lately on here about how "this is the worst United side in history" etc, and how "we're still better than United". I'm just wondering where some of you get your views from?

Now if you ever read our site, you'll know that I'm not a big fan of some personnel and the positions I think we have neglected in our side, also I'm not a fan of our style of play. Like most United fans were used to attack, flair, you score 4 we score 5. But, under LVG we won't be playing that style , so I have to get used to it. One thing that he does bring is organisation. Last season despite what everyone says about our defence we conceded the 3rd least goals in the league, and from November onwards took the most points. So it may not be pretty but it is effective.

When I see on this site people saying your still better than us it's total rubbish. 3 consecutive win over you in the league, higher finish, better results agonist the top 4 teams. You can blame your woes on Brenda and I see a lot saying "our squad is brilliant", but you could say the same for us. Other managers could produce better than LVG is doing. If we look at the squads how many of your side would genuinely start in a joint first 11?

De Gea ands down, Shaw lb without doubt, you could take either RB, Smalling would start CB with one of yours. So there's potentially 4 out of 5 from us. Then you have Schneiderlin, one of the best in the league, Schweiny and Carrick, both getting on but influential, depay is raw and needs a year or two, Herrera and mata are both great players, young is as good as any winger you have. Benteke and Rooney pretty even. So over all, when you say you have the better side u find it laughable. Brendan will eventually leave and you'll improve no doubt. But when LVG goes he will have left a steady ship and the next manager and signing will significantly improve us too. Keep dreaming boys

14 Sep 2015 18:00:19
Stand, I'm not sure who's saying we're better than you but you certainly have the most average squad you've had in years. Your attack is toothless (you made one chance from open play against us), your midfield is talented but maybe only Schneiderlin would get into City or Chelsea's team and your CBs are stand ins whilst you wait for something better. Your GK and FBs are good though.

We hoped to beat you because clearly you'll be the easiest team to knock out of the top four.

14 Sep 2015 18:13:27
I don`t have a prob with other fans posting stuff on here BUT if you will, post something that makes sense and don`t come here taunting us over a game you won but some of the pundits and even utd fans (and my boss here in the States is one) thought you were dire as well as we were overall. And Rooney over Benteke? The Rooney of five years ago, maybe.

Agree8 Disagree0

14 Sep 2015 18:17:04
Mighty, Why is it laughable to compare Rooney to Benteke in terms of effect on a team?

Imo both don't seem to fit either of our styles of play.

Granted Benteke scored a worldie on Saturday but what else has he done for you?

If your relying on Benteke doing that every week your going to be disappointed, what has he done to warrant u thinking he is better? Scored an offside goal and scored a worldie, u can't expect that every week like i said.

Rooney on the other hand seems to not grasp what the striker in this system is meant to do(maybe under LVG no other striker will either).

Both are not good enough for each of there teams imo.

I would guess Clyne, Hendo, Coutinho and Benteke would vastly improve Uniteds first 11.

{Ed001's Note - not sure Clyne would, him and Darmian are much of a muchness for me.}

14 Sep 2015 18:44:28

Agree3 Disagree2

14 Sep 2015 18:58:08
Coutinho and Benteke yes but not clyne or Hendo. Hendo will not get into the side ahead of carrick, schweinsteiger or Schneiderling IMO. Clyne is a good player but Darmian is just as good and time will tell which one is better.

Agree3 Disagree10

14 Sep 2015 19:04:13
On current form I'd probably side with Benteke over Rooney, but there's nothing between them. As for clyne significantly improving our 11 have a word with yourself. You clearly haven't watched any of Darmains games for us. Coutinho would for sure. Hendo? Not for me. Also we have one stand in CB. Chris Smalling has been fantastic and is improving game on game

14 Sep 2015 20:31:26
He has played that well u have lost at home to west ham, only just beat Bournemouth at home, u didn't score a goal at arsenal and just beat stoke 1-0 away!

I wasn't suggesting he was a bad player so get your knickers out of a twist precious, i just pointing out these good games he is apparently playing have only included a one off strike and an offside goal and as far as i have seen not much else.

As i said he doesn't seem to suit your style of play.
He can be very effective if played the ball in a particular style of play.
Rodgers doesn't want to do that it seems.

If u are expecting him to score the sort of goals he did at old trafford on a regular basis your in for a fright and a long season.

Agree1 Disagree2

14 Sep 2015 20:54:19
Hello other Utd fan. To turn this on it's head, who of your players get's into our team?

DDG obviously, Shaw, possibly Smalling on form, Schneiderlin, but they're the only clear ones.

Depay hasn't done anything yet, Mata would be Cout's understudy, Rooney's reputation doesn't cut it, no Liverpool fan would drop Hendo for Carrick or Schweini.

You have 4 clearly better players, we have three (four with Sturridge), the rest are much of a muchness.

After reading the above post I also agree with my fellow Utd fans that you people are most deluded.

From your L'pool squad except Coutinho no one would get in Utd squad.

One said about sturidge, sturidge was good when he had suarez with him. So, before playing him without suarez don't come into decision that he is world beater.

Both sides could have won it? are you serious. Only team deserved to win was Utd.

Put him out wider like his role at City. Maybe then we can get some decent service into the box. We don't need any more shoehorned positions.

Agree7 Disagree0

14 Sep 2015 17:32:28
Good DMs rarely have either in abundance, far more important are their vision, positioning & tackling. Most good DMs stay on their feet unless it is absolutely necessary, going to ground is a huge risk and often exposes your back line against good attacking players. Imo its the hardest position to play in midfield and requires a great deal of footballing intelligence.

14 Sep 2015 17:40:54
Just play 4-4-2.

A defensive midfielder is a trend and we don't need it.

14 Sep 2015 18:13:48
How about a 4-4-2 diamond with Milner on the right side of the diamond? It gives the flexibility to tuck in and play more centrally when not in possession, but also go out wider, combine with Clyne and bring in those crosses he is good at for Benteke and the other froward.

Lucas at the bottom, and Milner on the right yes, but then I would play either coutinho or firmino on the left or tip. And we have Can, hendo and lalana wasted on the bench.

Agree2 Disagree2

15 Sep 2015 05:29:19

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Sep 2015 05:35:46
It depends on the opposition Mikey. Henderson on the left side of the diamond and Coutinho at the tip. Firmino can be played further forward as a striker or will be on the bench.

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Sep 2015 08:44:18
I think if we played the diamond we would see a vast improvement immediately, Its the formation we played when so successful - So Lucas/Can at the bottom, Hendo / Milner either side, Coutinho at the tip with DS and CB up top - Let the others fight to get into that starting 11 - BR seems to be trying to play all of them instead of actually using a squad and letting players fight for places - 'Attack is the best form of defence' as they say

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Sep 2015 12:54:35
Agree 100% cialbray, Can not mobile or creative enough in the more forward midfield positions for me, use a mix of Hendo/Milner/Llalana/Coutinho for those and then either Coutinho or Firmino at tip of diamond and then two from Tekkers, studge, ings, firmino or origi upfront. an almost random pick from that list has got to be more dangerous than what we have right now.

14 Sep 2015 15:16:16
I think everything that needs saying about the weekends result as been said and we need to move on. A question to the Eds and fans on here, What is required to return us to the exciting football we played in 2013/14, I know Rodgers gets a bashing but we played brilliant football under him during that season

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Andy - One of the problems is that since then Livrpool has changed the first team squad adding (and my have forgotten a few) Firmino, Milner, Benteke, Bogdan, Clyne, Gomez, Ings, Lovren, Lallana, Moreno, Can and Origi - plus of course Markovic, Balotelli, Lambert and Manquillo. The downside of making such extensive changes (twice) is having them settle and not being able to go back to doing what was done before.}

So I'd like to side step all the bad stuff going on right now and ask, what did you guys think of Benteke's goal? I screamed like a little girl when it went in.

I think given the fact that he's had absolutely no service since joining us, he's done very well. I wasn't keen on him signing for us, but 2 goals in 5 games may not sound the best, but given the circumstances, lack of service and uninspiring tactics he's done very well.

Believable25 Unbelievable0

14 Sep 2015 14:08:17
Yeah it was brilliant.
Shows what he's capable of.
The thing is, benteke seems like the kind of player that will soon give in putting in the effort when he's frustrated enough with the team around him and the tactics that limit his impact on the pitch.
You can see him trying now but for how long under these conditions?

14 Sep 2015 14:18:26
It was a great goal. I was skeptical about Benteke before he signed, but so far, what he has shown is that he is got better movement and an appetite for the game than Balotelli, and has popped in with couple of goals. I also remember his brilliant goal form the pre-season friendly, and he does seem to have that something about him and that ability to pull a goal out of nothing.

Agree13 Disagree0

14 Sep 2015 14:36:46
And he does work hard to hold the ball up deep and has a nice few touches around the half way line whilst battling defenders I wasn't amazed by his signing nor put off but he has impressed me so far

Agree4 Disagree0

14 Sep 2015 14:48:16
He looks capable of scoring the spectacular but also finishing if he gets good service, the problem is he's lacking good service the last few games.

I really hope when Studge is back we play two upfront and the pace of Sturridge and size/finishing of Benteke will leave sides struggling on whether to play a high defensive line (leaving space for Sturridge to run in behind) or sit deep (and face Benteke in the box, and leaving space for Coutinho/Firmino in between the lines).

I'm really concerned at how we're playing at the moment, but Sturridge really could be the key IMO, hopefully forcing BR to play twin strikers and giving Tekkers some support.

Agree2 Disagree1

14 Sep 2015 14:55:04
Really did think benteke was going to be dreadful, but he has completely proven me wrong and i do think he can be a good signing. Those goals have shown he has something about him, just wish we would utilise him properly and actually play properly.

hsf, it was bloody brilliant. My wife had just joined me (I was watching the game at the pub) and I was explaining how badly it was going when out of the blue Benteke happened. I almost punched her in the face as my hands went up in celebration.

The boy's going to do great this season, 2 goals in 5 (a little unlucky not to be on 4) all whilst the team's playing badly. He'll score a bucket-load when the team gets going.

Hate it when people say Rodgers is even at least partly responsible for Balotelli's failure- 'he failed to get the best out of him'. I'm definitely no Rodgers fans, but that's absolute bollocks. Mario didn't get the best out of himself. Not Rodgers, Mario. If he had bothered to put in 100%, then perhaps he'd actually be thriving as a lone striker at Liverpool right now.

So, as the cliche goes, onwards and upwards!

On Thursday we have arguably the hardest of our 6 Europa League games with Bordeaux away (based entirely on the fact that they're from the most established league, I have no idea what the various qualities of our opponents are). What are people hoping to see?

I'd like to see a run out from our squad players, bring in Moreno, Sakho, Rossiter, Origi, and Ings (I'd love to see Texeira as well but I don't think he can play). Approach the game as if it it doesn't matter if we lose and drop the defensive organisation in favour of playing an expansive game.

Obviously there is no choice but to start with some squad player, but this team is struggling for any sort of cohesion or indeed any identity. The players themselves look lost and unsure how to play (thanks, Brendan), and as such, we cannot afford to drop too many first choice player.

muscatred - two points. 1) Loosing certainly changes things, as it adds more pressure and if you loose badly, confidence drops. Also, if some of the squad players are chosen and LFC don't do well, it gives Rodgers another reason to stick to his rigid shackled system.

2) What makes you think Rodgers will take of the shackles for this game? There was a very good opportunity to do that against West Ham, and then against a Utd side that showed up with Fellaini as their focal point, and Rodgers embarrassed himself with his tactics int eh first half. What makes you think he has learned anything and that he will set them up to play attacking football?

trying to stay away from all the talk of Rodgers job today, I do like to have a good look through other clubs rumour & banter pages have a little read & get other fans perspective on there own clubs. i don't like to comment as i have very lfc tinted glasses on & love my club dearly & find it difficult to have a legitimate conversation with other fans.I must say it seems every club bar city (no one ever posts on there page) seem like they one loss from a crisis. here on our very own page (myself included) have questioned the club's direction & basically bitched & moaned from when the season kicked off. Again I must state I have very lfc tinted glasses & think our beloved club should be aiming to win the league not just trying to get 4th.I would understand & take on board what other fans & pundits would say that we not a force that we once we're, I 100% agree, we need to stop comparing ourselves with the great lfc team of the 70s/80s try be a great team in our own right. Obviously this is a lot easier said than done & if i knew the answer tyen i would be the lfc manager. all i know is the current structure does not seem right. I think it a culmination of 18 months that has built up so far so even tho we only 5 games in it just seems like a continuation of last season if that makes sense. I hear every season that a season on transition bollocks come up, nonsense you can't spend every season in transition other wise you stagnate & unfortunately like we have get left behind. Sorry guys for a bit of a long winded & probably pointless post just hope we can find our identity again & start to see the true lfc.

The weekend as gone now, surely its time to stop whingeing and bitching, let's look forward to a game on Thursday and then three home games, 4 wins and life might seem different for some people as two weeks is a long time in football, whether you like Rodgers or not all the whingeing in the world is not going to do anything.

Believable7 Unbelievable26

I'm with you on 'stopping whinging', Mighty, but as you mentioned our three home games must be capitalized on, maximum points to shut whingers up!(myself included).
The whingers whinge about formation and how our philosophy (Rodgers' philosophy) has changed. Criticism must be constructive, as you know.My knowledge of football is playing serious football as a youngster - schoolboy at Villa 1970 - watching from terraces and the settee home. It hardly qualifies me as an expert but even to my ignorant eyes our style of play is nonexistent. I tend to change opinion from game to game; one minute I support BR, next I want him sacked. I've supported the club since 1970 (since the loss to Arsenal FA cup final) and it's hard to grin and bear it. But I'm 100% with you on stopping the whinge. We are better than that. I hope and wish for BR to turn things around and wed start to play to our potential. This experience will have made him a better manager, for sure. Here's hoping for 4 wins.

Iran I thought Rodgers should of gone before now, in the summer in fact but the owners have kept him so we should accept that but we whinge and bitch pathetically, some even don't want players to get fit again, we are 5 games into the season Rodgers should be given time to bed the new players in, we call ourselves the best supporters in the world but all people want is a quick fix this years league won yesterday, football simply doesn't work like that, we change manager there are no guarantees that it could get worse, Rodgers deserves our support.

I don't think the majority of fans are looking for a quick fix, they are just looking for signs of progress. 4 years on and rodgers hasn't shown any consistancy. continually playing players out of position, not utilising benteke, etc etc.
The first half of the utd game was about as bad as i've seen Liverpool play in many a year. At least we have sturridge back soon, and hopefully he can work well with benteke, that's if Rodgers doesn't stick him out on the wing.

Well ladies and gents,

It certainly makes for tough watching doesn't it? There are no signs of improvement what so ever.

Belting goal by benteke btw (I think it's been overlooked on here due to our shocking performance)

A bigger concern for me is who would be a viable option to bring in as manager now? If intrigued to hear eds opinion and fellow fans. And don't give me that anyone would be better tripe, we need someone who long term can get us back challenging. I fear it might be a Bob Bradley or Bruce (can't remember his surname?)

Klopp is the only available manager who has the credentials but we know he isn't coming and anyone worth their salt won't leave a performing team so soon in the season.

Thoughts?

Believable6 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - we should have got Unai Emery and Monchi in the summer, no chance of them now, but in the summer they were both considering moving on.}

14 Sep 2015 07:54:51
Klopp isn't coming. The club syhould have listened to Ed02. Jorge Jesus would have been Top Top class appointment.

Agree3 Disagree9

14 Sep 2015 08:37:03
We definitely don't know whether Klopp will come or not, simply because we have not asked him. That is the reality now. Klopp wants a year-off as Ed002 has told us but LFC have not asked him about any potential move in the future as far what I can gather from what Ed002 says.

Right now, FSG want Rodgers in charge, though it is painfully obvious this has not worked and we need to go in a different direction. IMO, Klopp and Ancelloti should be obvious choices; they both bring experience of having coached and succeeded at a very high level, and are available to at least talk.

Though I do not know the feasibility, Rudi Garcia and Unai Emery are two managers who are very good at quickly implementing an attacking style of football, while promoting young players from within the academy and young players who are bought in from outside. Roger Schmidt is doing very well, and I have also thought Lucien Favre and Jorge Jesus could manage at a higher level in England. I appreciate these are random names though.

Due to the massive rebuilding job on their hands my preferred candidate would be Pako Ayesteran.
Still has an emotional attachment to the club so would come and stay.
Knows the club inside out and the premier league, wants to come back.
Long coaching history and brief successful management career.
Plays good football and tactically astute. Seems to have good man management skills. Our football has been going downhill since he left.
Has a lot of afinity with the fans so would be given a fair chance.
Low expectations to start with which always helps.

Agree11 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - I would take him.}

14 Sep 2015 09:15:06
With all due respect to Pako, he is not the man IMO. He only has 2 years of experience as the head coach, and that too in Mexico and Israel. Maybe someone to have on your coaching team, though I think he will not want to step down now that he is the head coach, and additionally, he just started at Santos Laguna, and I can't see him stepping down so soon.

Agree7 Disagree3

14 Sep 2015 09:47:51
13 years as an assistant, he has plenty of experience IMO.
We're not going to attract most of the candidates.
Most of the names mentioned have never worked in the premier league.

Agree5 Disagree5

14 Sep 2015 10:38:43
Yes, as an ASSISTANT manager or as a coach. You think that makes him ready for managing LFC? Interestingly, Pako too doesn't have any experience in managing at England, he only worked as an assistant.

Agree3 Disagree2

14 Sep 2015 11:54:09
Yes I do think it makes him experienced enough.
2 la liga titles, UEFA cup win, champions league win as well as premier league experience all as an assistant. To write that experience off is mistaken IMO.

Agree3 Disagree3

14 Sep 2015 13:26:47
It is not mistaken at all, because he was not the man making the calls when he was the assistant. That much should be very clear for anyone to understand. At LFC, if he were to be made the Manager, he will be the one taking all the responsibility, and the decisions, and I don't think he is ready for something this big with all the pressure that comes along with the job. You want an example, just look at how Rodgers with limited experience at managing at the top level has done so far.

Agree3 Disagree1

14 Sep 2015 14:19:52

I don't know how long Brendan will get to try and put things right or who the next man will be but the one thing I would like to see would be Roy Evans brought in as a no 2. 14 Sep 2015 02:39:48
Despite all the criticism and misgivings about Rodgers recently, i personally think his biggest crime is the absolutely dire style of football we are playing. Fans are paying high ticket prices and satellite TV fees and club membership to watch week after week of utter dross. We would all like to win games and trophies but the bare minimum should be an energetic, entertaining game regardless of the result.
Apart from the rare exceptions, it has been over 12 months of slow passing and ball retention which might get us close enough to their box to hope someone like Coutinho or Benteke can pull a worldy out. I've lost count of the number of games where the stats have shown we had two or three attempts at goal during the entire match. I'm sure most would prefer a tactician akin to Keegan in the 90s rather than the dull and stifling rubbish we have had to sit through recently. We've got the players to compete, they just need to be unshackled and inspired but, despite being given time, patience and enough transfer money to make a sheik jealous, Rogers can't even offer us the minimums of passion, grit and entertainment when his tactics go down the pan.
For the first time ever, I turned off the match halfway through a game on Saturday and found myself wondering if Roy Hodgson was really that bad after all.

Ironically we did not retain the ball against UTD. In fact we couldn't keep than ball in our feet for more than 10 seconds.

We ain't playing any tiki take. UTD did not allow us to play any kind of football.

United didn't need to do anything - we were so poor all they needed to do was attack our stupidly deep defensive line and the goal was going to come. They're a poor team but they beat us easily - that says everything about how we were set up to play. Unforgivable.

Seriously, Deep defensive system?. Rafa Bentiez won multiple League titles with Valencia with so called deep defensiive system. Jose won the league last year with the so called boring deep defensive system.

If you know how to play it, you could do wonders. And please stop being ignorant, Not many teams plays those high pressing high line, The whole Italian teams plays 3 at the back and Juventus reached the CL final.

There is no chame in playing a defensive systme, Some of the very best managers and players play it on regluar basis.

Weather you sit deep or play high, If you do nothing with the Ball when you have it, You would win nothing.

UTD did nothing in the first half. We had no interest in going forward and that's not a crime.

Agree0 Disagree5

{Ed001's Note - you might want to go back and check how Rafa's Valencia side played because it was far from defensive most of the time. It is a crime to have no interest in going forward as the object of the game is to score more goals than your opponent. Perhaps you really should stop wittering on, because all you do is contradict yourself and show a complete lack of any knowledge.}

14 Sep 2015 07:58:57
Deep defensive system is no crime if you know how to counter attack. There are successful clubs and managers who plays this system from decades.

Ed01, Y don't you educate people the consequences of playing high line?

AVB is one prime example and Suarez/Aguero took his Defense to Toilet.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - the consequences are no worse than dropping deep and conceding space around the edge of the box like we currently do.}

14 Sep 2015 08:16:55
I am not sure Ed01 what you mean by scoring more than your opposition? Had we played all out attack we would have easily conceeded 3 goals inside 45 mts.

Can you tell me who is scoring 4 for us? Except countinho we are not scoring goals.

We don't play to Benteke's strength so rule out him scoring 30 goals this season.

They nick in a goal by counter attackihg football. Sit deep, man behind the ball, Make it compact and nearly impossible to breach, Flat back 4 with your full backs not pushing ahead at all making it a straight line in the defense.

Just what West Ham did against us and ran away with 3 points and 3 goals.

Jose once said ". I know how to win 1-0 than 3-0. "

Rafa has won countless games by 1-0 margin and he still plays the systemn no matter which club he is managing.

If you don't have Suarez / Aguero Strikers upfront who could score given every half chance, its better to play the waiting game.

Agree3 Disagree4

14 Sep 2015 08:54:36
Im not sure about all out attack, Harry, but the occasional sustained assault on the opposition's goal might make it worthwhile sitting through 90 minutes, don't you think? I don't watch the sport in hope that my team might get a draw with a clean sheet at OT - I want to see them desperate to smash their main rivals by relentless attacking and clinical defending. I want to see their hearts bleeding on the pitch and their legs made of candy floss by the time they walk off because they gave 100% for 90 mins. Instead we get insipid performances which are given a positive spin in the press room by Rogers. Why can't we defend well AND attack well? It's hard not to put all the blame on the manager but he's had the time and money and controls the tactics on the day and for over a year now it has been incredibly underwhelming. Looking forward to a new manager whenever that may be.

EG must have missed the objective of football which is to score goals. Utd did not do a darn thing. They were dire as as well BUT we were more dire than they were which meant in the end, the team with no tactical strategy, clueless system and negative football lost. If you don`t get out of your box and try to play to win, you won`t win most of the time. You may win by an offside goal or a worldie (which is how we won our games this year) but you will not win enuff games to get to where you wanna be. And EG as much as Rafa had his faults and made his mistakes, comparing him to BR is making a mockery of his good record with us here. you sound like those comparing BR to Klopp just because he had a difficult final season.

Now I am going to say before anyone accuses me of being a Tim sherwood lover which I don't think anyone has ever been accused of I don't want to start a Rodgers riot I wanted Rodgers out in the summer and made some Rafa posts which were well recieved on the whole but did anyone see his post match interview sherwood that is as if you did can anyone remember a time where a manager looked that upset over a defeat and in someways isn't that quite refreshing to see a guy genuinely upset and hurt about a result or performance . I know this isn't Liverpool related so feel free to bin the post . I guess my point is that it would be nice to see that level of emotion from our own manager to see that we went good enough and for it to actually matter . For me it seems like it no longer matters to this manager . I feel that if we change boss now or at Xmas time or whenever we will then have a new manager come in we don't know if he will have funds we don't know if he will like the current players it feels like any change we make will bring about another period of transition and it feels I am 30 years old now that we have been in transition for about 25 of these years and will this continue with a new man in charge I like Klopp but I don't think he's that keen on the job . So what or who should we look for next as our manager is there really a guy waiting for this job that wants it and who we want I am not so sure one thing I do feel sure of is this Rodgers is not the answer and we need to do something to savage what is left of this campaign . I know ed02 threw up some names I can only hope that the owners are listening and our considering things behind closed doors it's not s much the start of the season that worries me its all since the title challenging campaign that has seen us get worse with more money spent . His job is not to be upset after a defeat, it is to make sure it does not happen again, it is better to analyse the performance cold heartedly than emotionally.}

analyse the performance, find the mistakes, find the causes, and correct it.

analyse the performance, find the positives (although i can't think of much), and tell the players this is what you should continue doing.

these 2 would help considerably in stopping this consistent mistakes week after week, it would have also told the manager why it is a mistake to consistently play players out of position. i can't see that it is being done at the rate were going. Benteke has been isolated for all the games he has played this season.

I don't think you did as what attacking intent in any of our games are you talking about? Can you not see that tactically and passionately we are not working right? And no it dosnt matter if were only 5 games in as you can count last years dross as part of this incredibly boring and mind numbing saga, i consider myself an intelligent man and i think most people can see our faults and whose to blame for them yet here we are with yet more pro del boy articles trying to convince us he can turn it around, the answer is simple, he cant, he'll no doubt stumble upon something to give us a few results then go back to this boring and unimaginative death by football claptrap, if you still need convincing about how much he won't change look up comments of Reading fans before he got the sack and just after also look up what the Reading chairman said about him once he'd gone,
Ill tell you its all too familiar reading when you get in to it

{Ed001's Note - the worrying thing is that he was seriously under consideration for the role Gary McAllister took! Murphy I mean.}

14 Sep 2015 06:14:41
It was a strange one from Murphy especially as he refers to our aim as a top 4. Some of the other pundits who says things are not that bad actually mean things are not that bad if you hope to finish top half of the table or 5-7, but to hear someone still talks about realistc chance to finish top 4 after these performances, quite shocking.

I have to say that James Pearce from the Echo that many here referred to (wrongly in my view) as BR's represetative in the media gave a much more damning post match report the title of which was 'No hope, no promise, no passion leaves clock ticking on Rodgers'.

I don't get it to be honest, if he was a foreign manager theyd have torn him to bits a long time ago yet here we are with the same set of idiotic pundits telling us the games changed so much but yet we are the club that needs to keep giving our manager time for players to settle in!
And what about next summers settling in of 9 players? And after that? Because from where i'm sitting we are permanently in transition, which for a club that's spent 300 odd million on players is a travesty, how much money does this manager think we can waste trying to reach the unreachable dream of his football utopia plan?
Its got to stop because anyone can see that if your signing james milner to play centre midfield on the wages he's on instead of getting a specialist for the job then at some point your probably going to need to get another when it dosnt/cant work, no disrespect to the lad he's a model professional to be fair, but title winning sides don't fit square pegs in round holes just because he states i want to play cm, just buy a cm in the first place and let's really build because right now this clubs constantly playing transfer jenga and its driving everyone insane

James Perace gets information from BR or someone connected with BR and that lead to all the pro-BR crap he wrote, denigrating everything else including the Anfield pitch, Balotelli, the fans (yes, you and me included), the atmosphere, etc and very clearly veered away from criticizing BR. This is very much common knowledge and now Pearce has turned and has no choice but to be objective.

Exactly! If Rodgers was an Italian or a Spaniard, the media would have chewed and spat him out. This is Rodgers' 4th season in charge, having spend over £300 million in 7 transfer windows, the excuse of him needing more time is just laughable, ignorant and probably specious.
