Aguero disappears alot. Carroll never disappears. Carroll will have 25+ this season. Different types of player but carroll is more affective against the likes of vidic, Terry, kompany, etc. We got the better premiership player. Kenny knows what he is doing b

Will all the Aguero groupies please remove yourselves from this site. The rest of us have a football club to support.

See all the Kun lovers have started Would he have looked so good against Sunderland? Don't think so
What will they all say when he has a bad run of games with out scoring? As he surely will
Having said that a bit sick they've got him "There's no substitute for skill at pace"

Before everyone says why did we not buy Aguero for £38 million when Carroll was £35, this is why:

Liverpool's best players may like to earn £200k a week, but they accept the pay structure/realities at the club. However if LFC suddenly paid someone £200k a week, then Reina, Gerrard, Suarez, et al, would *have* to be given pay rises. Then gap to mid-range internationals grows. So they would want pay rise, to narrow an unfair gap, or unrest ensues. One new player can then have a knock-on effect, costing £millions more a month. Therefore - wage structure is sacrosanct

15 Aug 2011 22:48:30
Evidently Aguero is now god, and Andy Carroll is complete rubbish. This is now a Manchester City fan site. The general trend is to rubbish LFC players and praise other clubs players. It will be the same if Mata joins Arsenal and has a big game. Think I need to find somewhere where Liverpool supporters post.

Thanks for all the great work eds. I've enjoyed the site and your intelligent comments.

The Perception thats who i consider to be our best and most important player, just my opinion,out of curiostity who would you say is our important player anyway, and while Gerrard is injured, Luis is defo is our most important. Cant see who besides Reina,that can influence a game on his own as much as Luis can. Jonson6

Hey eds Quick question if you're not too busy Is there any truth in the rumours that kenny can spend without selling? And do you reckon that there will be any more signings? Not that long left until the windows ends Would appreciate an answer Cheers mate Scouserseb {Ed002's Note - I am not sure that the message is 100% clear. Liverpool cannot run wild. They need to unload players but I suspect he can bring in a player or two subject to them being sold subsequently.}

15 Aug 2011 22:38:36
May be putting 2 and 2 together and getting 68 but with kenny saying he and dc are underpressure to bring more players in. Plus the rumour of dc being in Spain. Plus the rumour of a bid for higuain, maybe just maybe we are gonna sign him Very much doubt it but it would be awesome if it came true Aguero to lfc in January as he obviously isn't settling in Manchester

15 Aug 2011 22:38:35
on 27th nov 11 we'll see how sergio fairs against a proper team

15 Aug 2011 22:37:01
why are maccas posts not being posted? lets wait and see how good aguero is against bolton away lads,any update on why comolli in spain and what do you eds think about kennys comments that theres more pressure to bring players in then move them on?
cheers the freshmaker {Ed001's Note - I tend not to read much into Kenny's comments to be honest, he will say what he feels will be best for the club. If that means he has to say something purely to shut a journo up, he will. About time we had a manager who doesn't care about what is written about him in the papers.}

Fair enough Rob,nothing does last forever but it lasts more then 12 months re Suarez's head being turned in Jan. Belive me when i say he'll be here next season. Red Indian good to hear from ya pal. How are you doing ? Still suffering from the double wammy you took on Saturday with us drawing 1 all and England giving India another hiding and becoming world number one. Took me a while to get over the footy like everyone else, but now just gotta win on Sunday at Arsenal and all will be well again, will never have a better chance to give em a hiding if we play like we did in the first half and make a change or 2 to the team. In this august: Cahill, Godin or Musacchio (Even though I wouldn't mind if Hummels or Subotic came in instead)

Out this august at least five of these: Jones, Degen, Kyrgiakos, Insua, Poulsen, Meireles, Cole, El Zhar, Ngog

In january: a right winger (player that can play both sides like Mata, Payet, A.Johnson, Perotti or Jeffren, wouldn't mind if it was Hazard), and a another striker (Park Chu-Young, Rossi, Ruiz or perhaps Higuain). If we don't go for a right winger and another striker, the other deal will be worked out next summer.

Out january: Most of the rest of the dead wood mentioned before that we couldn't get rid of this august.

In next summer: If we couldn't strike deals for a right winger as well as another striker, then the other deal will be done during this transfer window.

Out: Carragher (retire?), Maxi (going back to Argentina), if any dead wood haven't been sold or released before, then it will happen now.

If we can get this deals done then we have the force to battle for 1:st place and we can easily play in any of these formations: 4-4-2, 4-3-3, 4-5-1, 3-5-2.LFC for life

should of gone all out for aguero ....im gutted watching this ...i was calling for him before we got suarez ....and 38 mill?....ummmmmm carroll 35? oh dear ...wish i had some influence at lfc ...not damien commoli

15 Aug 2011 22:22:04
To All these people saying Aguero was the same price as Carroll and why didn't we get him. His wages are far to high 250+ a week then Suarez would want equal wages and so on causing unrest amongst the squad or a very high wage bill.
Invernesian
P.S Bet Carroll gets more goals than Aguero (=

15 Aug 2011 22:19:44
Bit of fun here guys but this would be my ideal Liverpool squad... What do you think?

Reina

G.Johnson-Cahill-Agger-Enrique

Meireles-Gerrard-Adam

Suarez-Carroll-Higuain

I know how unrealistic higuain is but nice to dream huh?

15 Aug 2011 22:11:44
Hi eds any updates on Paddy McCourt or Gary Cahill? {Ed003's Note - Nope}

15 Aug 2011 22:09:48
How long before the Carroll and aguero comparisons
Start for players costing £35m

Hmmmmm....I know who I would rather have

15 Aug 2011 22:09:06
And that ladies n gentlemen is why we have spent multiple transfer windows hoping Aguero would sign for us. Gotta admit Rafa had an eye for talent having spotted Kun, Mata, Mach, Xabi et cetera, and personally I wold be delighted to have him replace mr. stat crunch Comelli. Scouts need to have an instinct for talant bc numbers can be picked up on by anybody, and to find them before big squads move in would require this kinda eye. Rafa might evenbe able to pull off a transfer without completely burning all bridges the way DC seems to do. Also, any manc fans that come on here to feel better about theitheir situation - there's a new top dog in manchester and likely all of europe. AZkop

Got to be said, even though it is against Swansea, Aguero looks some player. Looks like Suarez will have some competition for Player of the Year/Top Scorer

Anyone else thinking that we should have caved into Agueros wage demands... That guy is going to tear the prem a new ......... 2 on his debut, admittedly against Swansea but not a bad start... Especially for my dream team

Everyone on here up Aguero's arse too? I'd still rather have Suarez...

15 Aug 2011 22:01:42
Suarez is on course to score 38 goals this season.

15 Aug 2011 21:59:58
wow aguero looked amazing tonight,we missed out big style there

15 Aug 2011 21:59:20
That's why kun is paid 200k + per week, you get wot you pay for.

Penny for JWH thoughts - young, talented, good sell on fee?

This lad has been doing this in Spain ever since Rafa wouldn't take the risk on him.

Here comes the "we should have signed aguero" brigade

15 Aug 2011 21:53:51
I am expecting the Aguero rave to start first thing tomorrow... Amazing player, and glad to be watching him - but still proud with the management for sticking to their financial principles.
If the 250 000 wages quoted are true... Ridiculous.

15 Aug 2011 21:52:31
Il put my hand up now as one of aguero's doubters, in context of his ability to make it in the premier league..i will also admit to being jealous and bitter as hell.. what a player..

So with a delegation apparently in Spain at present who could they be there to sign Ed? It could be one of the following

Godin (I'd say slightly possible).

Higuain (highly unlikely I'd say least possible).

Mata (a chance if he's available and Arsenal have lost interest).

Or someone completely leftfield (Merielles type) probably most likely.

Ed can you think of anyone else? {Ed001's Note - I don't think it is one of those 3, much as I would love it to be Higuain.}

15 Aug 2011 21:50:38
Before everyone starts harping on about how we should have signed augero, he will be out for the next 3 games after aggrevating his poor little blisters Damn tho great goal

15 Aug 2011 21:46:43
evening eds thought the game on sat was a descent start looked great first half ran out of steam second and was up against a well organised sunderland side still think this is going to be very good season have faith

15 Aug 2011 21:40:27
Ed, going to sound like a PAIN IN THE ARSE. However i think as a supporter im entitled to my opinion. I believe we have bought poorly with the money and players available. Weve spent a fortune on our midfield and its still in MY opinion the 5th best in the leaugue. Our defence is and has been for years now always vunerable and even lower teams know they will get clear chances to score and we are pursuing cahill as first choice whilst better and cheaper are available. I believe we are still light years behind man city,chelsea and man united in quality and for 100million spent this year thus far, an improvement is clear but for that money id wanted more and i am dissapointed in kk's signings. YES KK IS A GREAT MAN MANAGER but as for buying players i don't believe he has bought well ENOUGH'. Im watching aquero on his debut looking world class alongside silva and they are players that excite me, i just wish we could have bought atleast 1 player this window with skill and natural ability show a bit of magic Ed, id like your opinion on the matter mate? {Ed001's Note - I really think you are wrong, we got a number of signings who have improved the first team, I think that is all that can be asked every transfer window.}

15 Aug 2011 19:08:02
Eds would it be possible to have a separate fantasy football section option on the right of the page were we can all discuss our teams and points?
Makes more sense than most of the options there.
Much thanks
MIKEY {Ed001's Note - it's possible.}

15 Aug 2011 18:42:59
i'll be glad when the window is shut, i come on this site for transfer gossip and rumours, the ed's are very good at telling us what's going on, but so called fans are a joke, absolute joke, this is a suicide site, moan moan moan moan, so as i said once the window slams shut there will be no need to come on here...
sorry ed's, but i'm sure you understand, i'm sick of all these PS3/XBOX360 and PC simulation managers who think they know it all and talk absolute garbage, why not gossip about possible transfers instead of slaughtering our team after ONE....yes ONE fuc*ing game get a grip

15 Aug 2011 21:36:01
Looks like Aguero is going to be worth every penny. He looks so sharp. Him and suarez would have been amazing. I still hope we get Cahill and Higuain

15 Aug 2011 21:10:32
Ed do you think the result on Saturday is related to fitness levels. Manchester utd team seem to be fitter and play to 95th minute and they increase the intestacy towards the end of the game {Ed003's Note - No}

15 Aug 2011 20:40:50
This has come from a source of mine who i cannot disclose But what they told me is an absolute bombshell Stevie's injury is beyond repair and because of that this may well be his last season,the reason it is beyond repair is that he has carried on playing without getting it sorted for once and for all Hence Kennys flooding of the midfield

15 Aug 2011 21:30:28
eds we should have tried for aguero lol goal an assit in ten mins

15 Aug 2011 21:19:59
Eds is it true that henry told kenny to buy more players? Just a yes or no will do {Ed007's Note - I asked Kenny, he said "Mibee Aye.....Mibee Naw!}

15 Aug 2011 21:11:29
After watching City's 1st half performance against Swansea and United's against WBA. It makes our perfomance against Sunderland not look so bad. We played some very good stuff, in the 1st half. We could have been 3-0 up at half time, if Luis hadn't have missed the pen and Andy's goal was allowed. Then in the 2nd half, we looked sluggish and tired for whatever reason? But 1st games of the season are hard, no matter who or were you are playing. Every single team will go into the season buzzing, fresh and most importantly, not wanting to get beat. The best side on the 1st game of the season IMO, was Chelski. But for all their attempts and possesion, they only came away with a point.

I'm still trying to understand why Kenny played Henderson and Flanno, instead of Kelly and Kuyt?

Nothing to do with LFC, but what a pathetic, biased d*ckhead Ray Wilkins really is. I watched the Chelski game and couldn't believe Torres got MOTM. Torres played well but he was the 2nd best player on the pitch, the 1st was Begovic (Stoke keeper). This guy pulled off 3-4 world class saves and is the reason Stoke got a point, instead of geeting beat 3-0.

Wilkins only gave Torres MOTM for his own gains, and that is to get him his confidence back. What's good for Torres is good for Chelski and good for Wilkins. It took all the good work Begavic did for Stoke out of the headlines and put Torres in them, for the right reasons.

Ray Wilkins should be ashamed of himself, but him being one of the "Keyesy" and Gray crew. It shouldn't supprise me one bit, he really is a biased b*stard with apparently no shame.

Blair Mayne YNWA

Ps. Only 1st game lads and we played some good stuff, relax.......

Footballers have a duty to society

Quoted from Ian Holloway

15 Aug 2011 20:17:33
Ed now that Nasri is very close of City, Can Liverpool consider the sign of Adam Johnson? he could be the a good player to the right wing of Liverpool

15 Aug 2011 20:48:45
Our realistic target this year is top 4. And the team we have the most realistic chance of pushing out of the top 4 is Arsenal. Arsenal had an away draw against a side which will probably be fighting relegation, we had a home draw against a side which will probably finish in the top 10. Probably about even at the moment.
Arsenal have just lost their captain, have lost Clichy and will either lose Nasri now or have him as an unsettling presence for the rest of the year. Gervinho and probably Song will be banned for the next 3 weeks. Their manager is under more pressure than he has been in his entire career, and several senior players are threatening to leave if the squad isn't improved. To make matters worse for Arsenal, they have the combination of a very thin squad, and Champions League football. Last season their results in games immediately following CL games were Win 2 Draw 2 Lose 4. Lets all get behind Arsenal in the CL and hope they go deep into the tournament.

Everyone needs to understand that a striker (Carroll) is only as good as the people who supply him. Case and point, Torres. Torres was bought for 50 mil, and has failed miserably so far. Chelsea fans are screaming he wasnt worth that. But all of us know that with us he was worth so much more. We had the players that were able to supply him with quality balls. Look at Messi on the Argentina squad. Messi is the best player in the world, but without the assistance of Xavi and Iniesta he cant perform his best. So lay off Carroll. When he starts getting some quality passes he will come through. That will only come when the team learns to work with each other.

Please post eds, gutted about performance on sat trust kk totally but IMO Raul and Dirk better than Henderson and Adam at the moment really don't want to see Raul leave. I think that striker has to be the priority and also believe DC in Spain looking at striker options as Carrol just forced us into long ball game Saturday Early days I know, please tell me Forlan could happen.....?? What Saturday proves to me is that we have the players, Kelly should have been in at right back flannaghan is class but Kelly has the physique and why therefore spend £12 to £16m on a centre back when we have Agger, Carra, skirtel, kryiakos, and Kelly We need pace and support by way of movement for Suarez

15 Aug 2011 20:08:31
Hi Ed's,
Apologies if this has been covered already, but do you know WHERE in Spain DC and a supposed delegation has gone to? May as well be somewhere in Europe I've got several theories (which you must be dying to hear), but could do with eliminating a couple.
Cheers a lot

I was told Cahill bid accepted. sources still sure it has been accepted, just that Bolton are considering a replacement first. He will leave a very big hole in their squad no doubt. sources tell me they believe we are close to a new signing, when i say close i don't mean minutes away as some believe, however they cannot confirm who the player is. Cahill and Park Chu Young are not our only targets though. Just saying, don't be shocked if we make a signing on a player never linked with us before.

Your defo off your head and your defo not a Liverpool fan or you wouldn't even be contemplating teams coming in for Suarez. They can come all they like but John Henry and Tom Werner wouldn't be silly enough to throw all the good will and respect that most if not all fans have shown them,buy selling our best and most important player and not just from a footballing point of view, commerical as well. Get back on your Spam site because you sound like one who's gutted we got Suarez and you didn't,end of story. Jonson6

I was am still hopeful that the result at the weekend was just first day nerves, be we started like a train, I was following the game on the LFC Twitter and they were saying how great Adam, Downing were playing, then all of a sudden it was like a different team came out for 2nd half...this is a little worrying, The Mancs were poor yesterday but still had game winners to scrape through. I hope by the end of the season we're not looking at this being a trend again because if we can't beat the likes of Sunderland at home, it could be a long year.

I'm not being a pessimist about the future, I was really excited about the sigings and what KK has done but I just hope the players step up to the plate, grow a pair and win games we're playing poorly in

15 Aug 2011 19:03:56
Why wont ed 007 post macca stuff {Ed007's Note - Who said I wouldn't? I answered Macca myself earlier and explained what was going, and who are you anyway?}

15 Aug 2011 19:01:05
from a celtic point of view Paddy McCourts not good enough for my other team (liverpool).

Admittedly a fantastic dribbler (much more skilfull than j.cole/the english messi). Paddy is extremely good on the ball and i mean extremely good but off the ball he's terrible and also extremely unfit.

Sometimes he tries to hard also,

Plenty of natural talent but not a developed enogh player for a team of Liverpool's calibre.

15 Aug 2011 17:24:49
Ed001 you have said in the past that we see mata as an attacking mid and if we solg aquilani and meirles we might try and sign him or another equivalent player. Do you still think that is possibel?

Hi Eds.....do you know whether Raheem Sterling will be making appearances for the first team this year? He looks a real prospect and would be good to see him given a chance (even at his young age)? Thanks. {Ed002's Note - Perhaps one or two appearances. Certainly not a regular.}

15 Aug 2011 17:35:12
I think we had a good game all round on saturday Enrique was solid all game, Downing showed real quality and Henderson had a decent game the only downside was Suarez missing his penalty although for a tired player showed his worth and Adam's passing was a bit hit and miss, Carrol's goal being shunted because of a dodgy foul called from the ref and the inconsistancy of youth due to Flanno but i think Kenny will of sat the lads down showed them the High's and low's of their game....Good times a head no doubt

Cannot believe the negativity among some so called Liverpool fans. Shanks & Paisley would turn in there grave with some of the rubbish coming from a section of so called supporters I think the people who I am directing this to, need to look up the term 'support'. Read it thoroughly and get to know what it means, then look at yourself to see if you are actually supporting this club and what comes with it... Pathetic

James Mc

15 Aug 2011 16:51:24
Downing was class yesterday
Enrique was steady
To all the doubters, kenny knows what hes doing (exept carroll who has been woeful)
-------------------------------------------------
Do you understand the technical and tactical part of a football game? Carroll was making huge amount of space for Suarez. The Sunderland defenders were having trouble defending and containing the both; and that's going to happen to every other defenders. They know they can't let Suarez roam and also when they look at Carroll they also know they can't take their eyes off this huge monster either. So, Carroll and Suarez will create chances for each other completely different way. They may link up and play some one-twos; but this the way their partnership will work.

With the players we have at our disposal, my persoanl strating 11 when everybody is fit is,
Reina, Johnson, Carra, Agger, Enrique, Lucas,
Adam, Gerrard, Suarez, Downing, Carroll.
Back to the 4,2,3,1 that served us well previously. Carroll the spearhead with Stevie, Suarez and downing the 3 behind all floating between positions but for teamsheet purposes stevie on the right.
Loads of attacking and defending options. Playing
the same as the week we beat Real Madrid and
Man U in the same week scoring 8 goals.

All this crap about overpaying for players really annoys me. Who cares how much is paid for a player its not money out of our pocket. You have to just look at the player and how he will fit in . If we paid 100 mil for carroll i would still be happy to have him at the club and support him not his price tag

Wesmeister's reasons to be positive this week:

INTERNAL:
*Terrific first half performance against SAFC; movement, passing, pressing, scoring chances created, simply impressive. An inspiring glimpse of Kenny's blueprint.

*Enrique, Downing and Adam all making promising to excellent PL debuts.
Have nicely slotted in and will be very immense. Enrique's solid defending and speed and left peg; Adam's awe-inspiring awareness, passing range and shooting ability, and Downing's skill, quickness, excellent crossing and one-touch footy ability... brilliant.

*Carroll showing to be more than just a lumbering lump
*Suarez getting a goal
*Adam's remarkable deadball ability bearing us fruit
*Jonno and Skrtel might be back
*We didn't lose

EXTERNAL:
*Arsenal and Chelsea dropped points
*The Gooner won't have Fabregas, Nasri and likely Song with Wilshere also possibly not to feature; the weird looking bloke from Lille won't be playing
*Also, the Gooner's one uncertain, unstable shambles at present. Fans are diametrically disgruntled and disillusioned and will likely be a) dejected and not as supportive, or b) altogether turn against both manager and team... to our benefit

That's a wrap. Do read again next week.

For Andy Carrol to have a good game , he depends on a the team playing well, supplying him with quality passes/crosses, not just floating long balls. Hes not like suarez , who can forage for the ball out on the wing and make things happen, thats not his game. You could see how frustrated he became in the second half (he scored a perfectly good goal in the first remember) as the team lost unity, sharpness, accuracy. So lay off andy Carrol. if he flops he flops , but it wont be in the first few games. Get behind the lad. realise that he needs throughballs/ crosses to do what he can do.hes a target man.And stop harping on about the 35 million and using it as a stick to beat him with, the Man Utd biased media do a good enough job of doing that.

Why are we paying so much more than players are actually worth we are wasting money paying over the odds. You can't tell me that 11 goals in the prem and carroll increases to £35m, £15m would of been to much. £20m for Henderson is atleast double his value maybe even more. Suarez £20m max and Adam was so prolific as he was a good player in a very bad team £8m again to much i am livid that we can throw money around like this we need to Pay the correct price not give to much in desperation we are not desperate for players, well not that desperate anyway.

Watched Luis Suarez a little bit before, most of it in the world cup and since he's joined Liverpool,them his performances in the Copa America. If your telling me David Villa is a better player then Suarez who cost over 10mil more then your off your head mate. Carroll didn't ask to be sold for that price, just like Villa and just like Luis Suarez, he's always a threat, his hold up play was good, drew fouls,won headers, had a goal wrongly ruled out for off side got little or no support in the second half,he and a fully recouperated Luis, like they were in the first half on Saturday and will be a handful for any defenders in the Prem and i mean any. You can compare prices all day but are Barcelona fans feeling cheated by them paying 10mil more then Suarez even though Luis is clearly a better player,very much doubt it. Jonson6

Hi everyone,

First post but been following the site since January. Great site by the way. Have to say am very disappointed by the negative reaction even though no one has really done well. I think that of all the big teams we had the toughest game and when all was said and done we looked really good overall. Looking forward to the rest of the season and think that we'll come good sooner rather than later. {Ed007's Note - Welcome to the site and thanks}

It totally amazes me, that if anybody says that they feel carra should be replaced.We are committing a Sin and should be struck down by lightening.It also baffles me when they start spouting garbage about Hansen would struggle with young Flanno along side him Because he had Neal and Nicol looking after him.Before you use a stupid analysis again.Hansen looked after the left side of Centre. Lawro and Thompson the right.He looked after a young Beglin and Ablett in his time, though he had Barney with him for seven yrs.Nobody should ever compare Carra to Hansen, both wonderful servants. But in football terms there is absolutely no contest.I would have Hansen in my team all day long.So lets get one thing straight Carra is a legend, a hell of a warrior, but the way he plays is a million miles away from Hansen. Carra has played mostly under Houlier and Rafa Deep defensive football.Hansen played with a Highline and offensive.Hansen could bring the ball from area to area, and that's a fact.I respect that you are sticking up for Carra,but in doing so don't disrespect the greatest centre back I have ever seen..

Rock hot

I aint assed but to the porter who reported on McCourt being linked with us was in the Mirror so why someone who again leaves no name are pulling him and not only making him out to be talking rubbishe but that his grammer as well, i think people who do that are pretty sad,unless its wrote in caps or text speak as in m8 for mate then i dont have a problem with people's spelling and grammer mistakes . Get a life mate, how come you missed it in the Mirror, prob reading the daily Scum instead. Jonson6 {Ed007's Note - I have said 100s of time that it is childish and very immature to slag someone over spelling and grammar. It can also put people off posting for fear of ridicule. Personally I don't post anything slagging spelling/grammar because of this. As long as it is coherent and makes sense then it is fine by me.}

We're Leaky @ the back. FACT.
Carra is old and slow.
Skrtl is dodgy inconsistent.
Agger is always injured
We need Cahill Now. He is the next Sami Hyppia.
Then make a move for either Shawcross or dann in the next transfer window, and sell agger and Skrtel.

okay - sometimes you've got to hand it to the opposition. Sunderland will be a force this season and they deserved a point.

Bearing in mind we had:
- 4 PL debuts, 3 of which in midfield and 1 of which (Enrique) had never trained with the squad.
- Carroll and Agger just came back from injury.
- Suarez and Lucas back from copa America
- And young Flanagan playing at RB.

relax, there is 37 games left to go and a lot can happen.
I don't think United will be the force as they were last year without van der sar and Scholes. They look frail at the back, and have lost the scholes spark.
Chelsea - another new manager. They also drew at Stoke - so not all bad, although Stoke away is a very hard fixture.
Man City I still don't think will work as a team.
Spurs may lose Modric and will suffer that loss.
Arsenal have lost Fabregas and will lose Nasri also.

It's not all dim and glim. Every 'top' team has their issues this year and we are one of them. Let's judge our position after 10 games - where has your optimism gone? seriously lads, chin up. The horizon looks good and promising for LFC.

We wern't ever going to win the title this season - but top 4 is the aim. Maybe a cup as well - even the Carling would do.
It's a gradual progress - thats what I admire about Stoke and Tony Pulis. Their rise has been gradual and modest - now look, they've got into Europe.
High expectations only lead to disappointment - you cannot win every game.
Never mind, as I said, chin up. It was a good result. Sunderland are a fine team and I wouldn't bet against a European challenge from them this season.

Jacob red.

Maybe its just me but i don't think Carroll was the problem at all on saturday, he is a magnet for defenders there always seems to be at least two around him. Now maybe if in the second half the midfield didn't sit on the halfway line some of that space could have been exploited, i doubt Kenny told them to do that maybe they were just tired. Speaking of Carroll both the Sunderland center backs were very 'clever' in marking him, whenever it came to a 50 50 they just dived and got the free kick.
i think downing is starting to prove a lot of people wrong already, he makes being a winger simple just beat your man and cross it in easy really lol.
I imagine Suarez wont be taking a pen like that again, i was surprised to see him starting but i guess that just show his determination to play.

After the final whistle i was obviously disappointed but when you look at how many teams actually won its not to bad. From the first 3 games i epxected 7 points that is still very possible as arsenal are in free fall.

always a red

We could still be interested in Godin.We could offer Pacheco, Raul, even Poulsen(who did well in la liga) As Make weights in the deal.Godin as always been my choice as he reminds me of Lawrenson, in the way he use to play.He is quick can bring the ball out and can make up ground and challenge.He would be much better than the likes of Cahill and Shawcross.

Watched el classico last night, for anyone who wants to see a true 35 million player looks like, have a look at David Villa's goal. I have no doubt Carroll will score a fair share of goals but we did pay at least double his worth. Following players for in and around 35 million Eto'o(winning goals in CL final, lge titles in Spain and Italy) , Sneijder (CL winner, WC runner-up) , Fabrecas(WC winner, CL runner up) , Villa at 35 Million (WC winner, La Liga winner, CL winner) and then there is Carroll( a few goals for a side promoted from the Championship) ( and injured). Rest my case. Get off those drugs KK.

Ed, is there any truth in us being interested in Paddy McCourt or is it just paper talk? Thanks, Kelly23 :) {Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware it is nonsense, we have never shown any interest according to the papers until he scored a great goal, albeit against semi-pro opposition. Seems the MOTD syndrome is just as prevalent amongst journos as fans.}

Just read your post/reply red will and think you've hit the nail on the head if it was a choice between a technically better player who's done it at international level and Defoe who's a very much hot and cold type of striker, freezing at the minute it seems. I think Roman Pav's problem is that he's not been given a chance long enough run in the side to a certain extent in the Prem . I think if Spuds would used Roman ,(never spell his surname right so wont even try) the right way be defo could of been a 15 to 20 goal a season striker, maybe even more. Jonson6

Its a shame more fans on here are calling for Carra to have seen red rather then Richardson. Nowt i read on here suprise's me anymore, amazing again Flanno never had the best of games but was seen as a genuine part of the squad maybe team before the season starts. Is any wonder K.K prob wont through players like Coady in if thats the fans reaction to a below par performance as a young and may i say very talented player. Jonson6

I don't think why people should be disappointed following the Sunderland game. Although it was a home game and you expect to win against the mid table clubs at home to guarantee a top 4 finish but there was a lot of promise on the first half. May be it was fatigue or not having enough playing time to gel with each other but it was a poor second half display. Especially with Lucas and Henderson the chemistry was not so good i think and the passes became unsuccessful which affected Adams game as well. And after the Suarez substitution there was a huge gap between Andy and the rest of the team and i think that's what started the hoofing. In my opinion Charlie Adam and Lucas are complete opposite players they play in the same position but one is great going forward but poor defensively and the other is good defensively and poor getting forward. I don't think we should play those two together.I think we should play Lucas at the away games and bring on Charlie if we need to push forward and Charlie at the home games.

And for our next game as Arsenal have sold Fabregas, nasri on the brink of transfer to city and gervinio sent off they will not have a strong squad and are playing Udinese this Tuesday so we'll have a great chance of winning that game. And after that the whole momentum will swing to our favor i think.
Overall i think we have a great chance of finishing fourth ahead of arsenal rather than arsenal finishing above us. So let's all support the club rather than be disappointed. Because as the song says At the end of the storm
There's a golden sky...

Some of the criticisms on here are shocking :o. Anyone expecting a title challenge is out of their mind; is moving back into the top 4 not good enough? Especially when you compare to the last two seasons.

The obvious aim is for us to build a solid team for the future.

I mean, would you rather we bought players with the view of winning the title and then just becoming another top 4 team (again), or building it up and becoming a title challenging team within a few years and keeping it that way? I know which one I'd prefer. We've just got to be patient. Look at the calibre of youngsters around; if that's not an encouraging sign to some of these "fans", I don't know what is

15 Aug 2011 08:28:36
I think that certain fringe players should be sent out on loan if guaranteed games, but Flanno did come under more pressure Saturday than normal. Like most people i think we are in need of either CAHILL/GODIN/SAMBAS type defender asap as our CB's are fragile. The RB should be JOHNSON/KELLY with AURELIO/ENRIQUE on the LB with the youngsters as backup as time goes on.

Others not wanted release if no fee can be established before 31st August.

Personally i dont feel SPEARING will cut the grade and should be SOLD on he doesnt offer as much as the others and id prefer COADY.

if NGOG goes then we will need a backsup striker unless KK plans using Pacheco/Suso/Morgan etc... but i think we'd all love a HIGUAIN to come in.

Lastly with Downing very lively for us if we got another winger for the other side you would see how much we would stretch teams, the season we come 2nd 2008/2009 we had RIERA LW and KUYT RW . But even the Manx have out n out wingers that cause all teams problems.

I'm tired of people complaining saying that we spent all this money to only draw. Well let me remind you of something, money doesn't buy success. Something we easily remember to shout at City when we beat them, but somehow think it doesn't apply to us. Just signing players does not guarantee instant success. Kenny is building a squad to work together, that will bring us success over time. It wont happen overnight as much as all of us want it to. So until that time, remember your jobs as fans, and get behind the team.

15 Aug 2011 04:06:29
Did you see the way Carragher hauled down Gyan as the ball was being crossed in for Larsson's equaliser? This is something I've been getting more aware of recently- Carragher's man-handling of opponents to try and compensate for inferior movement. I'd be very concerned at the number of free-kicks and penalties we might concede like this.

Food for thought re yesterday's team; Henderson replaced Kuyt and within 5 minutes we have a penalty- have you ever seen Kuyt miss one for Liverpool?

15 Aug 2011 03:25:21
Obviously disappointing not to win, especially seeing as we could have been four up by half time. Overall plenty to be encouraged about, I thought Downing and Enrique look to be great signings (albeit on the strength of one game). When fit, Gerrard will play in the midfield alongside Lucas, and I imagine Kuyt will start next game on the right.

Jesus christ One game played and everyones complaining already We're so much stronger than we were last year, maybe not enough for the title but certainly strong enough to finish in the top four and to put us in a position to attract world class players and attack the major trophies in the years to come. Okay we didn't pick up the 3 points yesterday but did we do any worse than Arsenal or Chelsea? No, if anything we played better than them against stronger opposition. Sunderland are no mugs and we were unfortunate not to pick up all the points. We can't judge the team after one game, with so many new faces it will take time for them to settle in and learn each others games. We will improve drasticaly as we reach our A game and with kenny in charge, the new players we have brought in and our owners backing us we will be at the top in no time. Sometimes I wonder how the ed's put up with all the complaining, as a fan it drives me crazy You guys do a fantastic job. Now remember fellow reds, theres a whole season ahead of us, lets back the team, back the new signings and have a bit of faith. YNWA. D.K
