Why on Earth take Shelvey off before Allen?
What has Assaidi got to do to get a game?

The 3 of them are no good its players like them that are making us in to a average mid table team .

This tika taka style just isn't getting us the desired results. I don't know about the rest of you but I prfer a more direct style, that is what we had in previous years, with the likes of Alonso and Gerard being able to hit long defence splitting passes.

OK so Alonso isn't here anymore, but Gerrard is. And I don't agree with the sentinment that Gerrard is past it. Maybe he isn't able to burst forward anymore, but for me he is still a vital element to this team. I think the problem is with his short passing. How many times have we seen him give the ball away from trying to pass short? But his long range passes are and have always been one of his best assests, and sadly, his strengths are not getting fully utilised in this style of play. I'm not saying i don't like trying to play the ball short and slow but there is a time to use it, say when your 2-0 up at home, not 2-0 down against a team fighting to stay in the league.

Our home games, especially against teams with lower expectations than ours, should demand a faster, more energetic style of play, at least for the first 25 minutes or so, especially when that team has played midweek away from home.

I am supportive of BR, especially with the mess he was left from the previous regime, but I cannot understand why the owners would happily give someone who was not their choice 100m to spend and someone they payed 5m to get in anywhere near the same. I also think it was a mistake in not appointing some for of senior role to help Rodgers with the transfers, the likes of a Johan Cruyff for example; someone who knows the right people ifyou know what I mean, because so far he hasn't really done a good job with what he has been given.

Ok so Borini has been injured, but he is not the proven goalscorer that is needed, Allen is proving to be a flop; his lack of willingness to play the ball forward or get forward himself supports this, and Assaidi, wh for me has been his best signing and more interestingly his cheapest, yet even he can't get a game.

Instead he prefers to play the two biggest liablities at the club in Downing and Cole ahead of someone who when has played has offered far more enthusiasm and quality than either of them.

This transfer window for me will be make or break for both the manager and the owners, and I'm not slating the owners because I believe they trully have the best interests of the club at heart, but they keep making mistakes; hiring Comolli, keeping Ian Ayre, the last transfer window, allowing too much money to transact for players etc. If the owners say BR has money to spend then he has money to spend, and it's not like we are cash strapped. But if we continue to follow this ridiculous policy of signing overhyped, overrated British players, and yes that includes Thomas Ince and Daniel Sturridge, then I am afraid that we will continue to send ourselves further into the wilderness. And no this is not the best we have available to us, despite the fact that there will be a number of quality players reaching the end of their contracts and who are actively looking to test theirselves in this league, this is stil one of the biggest clubs in the world and always will be, and still includes top quality players. Afterall we got Suarez didn't we. If we can sign a Rush, a Fowler, a Torres to partner our modern day Daglish, then our fortunes could change overnight. So we'll wait and see.

MikeyRed92

Ince would be great, but no to sturridge. He is overhyped.
Indian Buzzer

Got to agree with you about Assaidi- he does look our most dangerous player down the left, and I can't understand why he's not getting more game time.
It'll probably be some rubbish mindgame that Rodgers is playing with him.

And never mind all the praise and plaudits- Sterling looks the part, but he is simply not scoring enough goals for an attacking player in the senior squad.

A successful winger needs to get into double figures, like Kuyt used to do, and other PL wingers do now.

I say b******* to Sterling.
If he thinks he's a superstar already, after scoring one goal in 17 games, then we should probably let him go and be someone else's overpaid problem.

I watched with as much dismay as most today but what has disappointed me the most and not for the first time, in fact consistently this season, was how poor Steven Gerrard has played. He has lost a yard that is obvious for all to see, no surprises there but his lack of accuracy with a pass is the real surprise. I wonder if he is not helping the growth of the new BR team ethic. Stand aside Stevie your time is up bud!

Rodgers is a great manager; has good man management, coaching, tactics (subs such as Coates vs Everton and Henderson vs someone were genius), and good in interviews.

He has two problems: his damn philosophy and his niavity to not change it. It is far too easy to predict, today proved this, for the majority of the time we had possession, Villa had 10 men behind the ball and it worked, because to play tika taka you need world class players who are capable of picking out passes in the tightest of space (messi, xavi, Inesta), we don't have the players to do this, so to counteract this, we have to send more players forward and then make it easy to counter and get 3 goals out of nothing.

I don't mean this to sound negative but where is the evidence that Rodgers is a great manager?

Chris in Tamworth

Rodgers is a terrible manager with a bad ego who feels he can do anything he wants...this was why he failed at reading and will fail here..why impose this style of play without the right crop of players..why doesnt he focus on winning matches rather than charming the press..last year as terrible as we were, our defense wasnt this bad and we created more chances with the same players rodgers is trying to get rid of and bring his own flops...all we needed last year was a goalscorer but rodgers and his ego never saw that..

oopa gangnam style

The evidence is plain and simple.
Rodgers thinks he is a great manager. Right down to the life size picture in his front room.

I think I want to be sick.

Zec {Ed001's Note - that picture on his wall was given to him by a charity as a thank you. It is because of what it means that it is on his wall, not because it is a picture of him! Anyone that has a problem with that, has issues.}

On paper Shankly was a below average manager before he went to Liverpool. Paisley had no managerial experience at all having worked his way up within the club. Fagan likewise. Evans likewise (he probably came closer to Premier League success than Benitez). Souness was an abject failure yet should have been a world-beater. Benitez was succesful in Spain and at Anfield. Dalglish is one of only a handful of managers to win the Premier League.

Would love to get benteke and diame.play benteke up front, Suarez and sterling either side.diame in middle with Henderson and shelvey.

You couldn't afford benteke

Am I.the only one who feels reina could have done better for villa's first two goals..the guy is terrible

Agree 100% - please drop him

15 Dec 2012 23:12:40
No more excuses liverpool, I'm tired of talking myself into think what could've been. We have the fan base, resources and structure of a big team yet our transfer dealings are a joke and I wanted to get out of anfield with my brother so quick today, and that's never happened before. So so poor, having my reservations about Allen and Jan transfer window could be exactly like the summer.
Rant over, result is done. Fulham next, lets try and hold some bloody dignity if nothing else.

So another 3-4 years building? How many times have we heard that? I'd put the youngsters in now, it can't be any worse than what we're seeing! Possession doesn't win you games fact!

At this rate the youngsters are going to run out of steam well before the end of the season.

15 Dec 2012 21:17:52
Ed001, if you are around, what did you think of that performance?

I thought it was a passionless display. One thing that stood out for me was a lack of leader in that team.

We have all been saying we need a goalscorer and once we sort that out, we will be okay. Well, what about our midfield? Our midfield never looks like contributing with goals. Lucas, Allen, Henderson together will wont even get 10 goals a season. Gerrard was the one who used to be a major influence, but he is quite frankly been poor of late. Sahin and Shelvey looks like they might be the way forward.

In my opinion, Allen and Sterling needs a rest and we need to bench Gerrard.

The real AG {Ed001's Note - Gerrard should be pushed further forward, play him on the right, rest Sterling and give Sahin a chance. I would rest Allen as well, he looks tired too. The whole team just looked jaded today. Maybe they believed just believed that the win against West Ham was the turning point and they needed this boot up the backside.}

15 Dec 2012 22:40:36
Where is the rodgers brigade??you and the manager are both clueless..they keep saying our team is young,we need time bla bla...villa's starting 11 today only 3players were above 23 and they made us look like sh*t..rodgers don't worry by may you would be gone..and please take borini and allen with you

Hi billy no name, if we had a couple more strikers we'd have been 3 up before villa scored, that will be sorted in the next few weeks, defensively we were awful for there goals but hey sometimes rubbish happens, big swing we lost a game move on!
JJ

Reina never seems to save anything anymore, why the hell dosent he play wisdom anymore

We are still 4 points clear of villa so what is your point?

KUMBER

I am disappointed with the result. But if you watched the match today and you really knew what good football is there was postives to take. Wether you like it or not, its not all done to the manager. If jose mourinho or pep guardiola were manager of a conference team do you seriously believe that that same team would be a premiership side? Please you need to understand the players bought and playing are no were near up to standard this year full stop. It will take time to clear the deadwood and damage left by comolli!

JD

Fair enough u said positive from today's game? What matters most to u results and 3 points or watching possession football Which is mainly played in our own half, what Rodgers wants to do wont happen overnight and to do so he need this technical gifted player, these players are available for top teams who plays regular champions league,

If I can advise mr Rodgers would be gets results first, qualify for the Europes elite league then get the players who can play the game u want like Barcelona

Dk London

Jd thats nonsense talk..and that term deadwood is very degrading..downing was one of our stand out performers today..and henderson has been playing better than golden boy allen..rodgers is just inexperienced..any smart manager should know gerrard should be in our front three right now..why not try assaidi or bring on suso..and for the sake of God.he keeps crying foul about our lack of strikers..why cant morgan or yesil be on the bench..tell me how worse can they be

15 Dec 2012 22:38:05
Villa should never have been underestimated today coming from a decent away result earlier in the week.

In my opinion, the wing-backs are leaving both the centre backs too exposed at times who have a tendency to drift left/right to cover the space allowing large spaces at the back.

Teams know they can play a counter-attacking game which showed today to Villas credit.

Counter - direct to wingers then bang.

Lucas can't sweep half the pitch!

Anyway, still, as the eternal optimist, there was many good points to today's performance.

In my opinion, this manager is the man to take us back up there. This is a young yet potentially gifted team.

Just a bad day....

P.s Take a LONG rest Stevie, lad, your heart doesn't look in it anymore. Soak up a bit of sun somewhere.

DaveyBootle

It may be true that teams feel they can counter attack us to death, Arsenal seemed to do that and Newcastle a little bit.

In my opinion that is not the issue. In the first 30 minutes they had plenty of chances to make Aston Villa pay for sitting back and trying to counter attack. The team will be fine once they get the last little piece they need, clinical finishing! If Suarez plays Gerrard in correctly boom it's 1-0 and Villa are on their heels.

The team will be fine. They have added some pieces and they just need a few more. How many times have they come out, dominated the first 30 minutes and gone to halftime down 1-0 or worse. That is not a fault of the system. That is a fault of the finishing of this group. Suarez, despite his great start to the season, is too wasteful to be our #1 goal threat. He is a tremendous creator and great #2 scoring threat. If they can find a true #9 type player this team will begin to kill off teams in the first 30 instead of dominate, get nothing, and give up a cheapie.

Keep the faith. I know the results themselves are disappointing, but progress is there, and a little more work is needed transfer wise.

Lee

The sad thing is other teams know all they have to do is score once at Anfeild to more or less guarantee a result.

I don't post on this site that much anymore. Some of you seem to be a bit bi-polar and embarrassing as fans. It's generally a negative site which is a shame as I used to like it a lot.
It was a bad day. No doubt. We simply don't have the personal to be fully effective playing the way we do and we will lose more like that for a few years. But I still think this is the way to go. We are moving forward and it will take time but we will get there. On another day we would have won 2nil. They scored 3 from chances that we 1 in 5 conversion type chances. It's the way it goes.
Allen, sterling and gerrard all need to dropped for a few games. But who would we put in their place? There isn't much wrong with how we play we just don't convert. Nothing 2 very good forward/wingers in jan wouldn't fix, in my opinion anyway.
I have faith in BR, I think he should probably lose the cliches and the constant talk about 'his' system and possession football, but that aside I think most results this season have been harsh. Lets see what FSG do in jan if they back the manager I think we'll have a much better second half of the season and a lot of humble pie will be eaten. Fingers firmly crossed.

Thought downing had a good game on the bright side lol

Pep guardiola said he wants to prove himself, that he wants to prove it wasn't because he inherited a brilliant squad........ Lets see what you've got son

He said he wants to prove himself not end his career!!

15 Dec 2012 22:29:40
Jamie carragher as caretaker manager

No one will understand him lol

15 Dec 2012 22:29:39
Not the best of days... however in a funny way it could be a bit of a blessing in disguise, i think the players looked a bit complacent today, with all the talk in the week of only being 4 points off 4th etc...This was a big eye opener and will hopefully make them realize you will not get an easy game in this league....Another point, it's an absolute disgrace how we have still not got a penalty this season, should've had two again today, one for hand ball which was more of a pen than the one against Allen last week and the one on Agger was just ridiculous, what more do you have to do to get a penalty, if we get that and go to 2-1 with 40 minutes left i think we would've seen a completely different result.

Adam

The first pen they were both pulling each others shirts and the 2nd so called pen hit his chest! !

Sorry but the squad should know all this by now. There are no excuses and blessings in disguise. This was yet another beating. Players like gerrard don't seem to want to open their eyes. He needs to be dropped. We do a lot better without him nowadays. Tough love I know but that is the game.

15 Dec 2012 22:06:29
Damn you liverpool!!when I was just getting carried away about how well we are playing.you bring me back to reality

Bad day at the office thats all mate

Nice to see that our defeat was a "shock" and the main headline on BBC Sport

Not seen that for a very long time.

We're back!

How pathetic is that .. clutching at straws

15 Dec 2012 21:37:47
Hi .......is there any truth in that we've agreed a deal for Seydou Doumbias? {Ed002's Note - No.}

15 Dec 2012 21:34:54
Let me get this right BR reckons top two finish is possible, I don't think I have ever laughed so much in my life. Liverpool are 5 wins from second place and so far this season after 17 games Liverpool have actually won, you guessed it 5 games in total. Mediocre team managed by a mediocre manager, Liverpool are years away from a top 4 finish, end of story

Nope.. what he was saying is that a club of Liverpool's stature should be aiming higher than just getting into the champions league. He is being misquoted. ..probably by Liverpool fans in the main. And only because we lost. If we had won hands up who wouldn't have started believing..? We're so fickle. We love the drama.

Dare I say it.. the loss has been a bit of a leveller. Sometimes its needed.

15 Dec 2012 21:18:00
Ok lads and lasses, can we just all take a step back and analyse things rationally.
Today was a bad bad result. But the team did not play badly, we were just naive defensively and in attack.
We are a team in the first stages of transition.
A third manager in 3 years = inconsistency
A young manager = inconsistency
Young players new to the team = inconsistency.

GET USED TO IT.

It will not change with more new managers or more new players. It will only change with time, in a stepwise manner.

Rodgers is not my favourite person at the moment but the only way we will get back on our perch is if everyone pulls in the same direction. It's what Shankly preached, it's what Kenny preached.
So stop whining, stop bitching, stop sniping and start to contribute in a positive manner.
Positive things happen to positive people.

Marcus Aurelius

No it will change when the lads pull their socks up, you can use all the different tactics but at the end of the day these footballers on 40+ k a week should be able to put a pass together and get the ball in the net! Their is no hunger and no pride. We had the players capable of a top 4 finish and got rid of them without replacing them.

There is no denying that he has to have the time to change the team.

What my views regarding Rodgers are that he walks into a job and slams the purchases of the previous manager and throws out almost all but one?

This is high handedness for me....A manager should be able to work with what he has got....Rodgers has sold or rejected almost half the team from last year...

He can use a midfielder as a left back but wont use one who can play there..He seems to believe that a player who has had a cruciate injury can somehow change the fortunes by coming in off the bench.....

LiverBird

We are a team in the first stages of transition.
==========================
What fn transition. Every other poster in here quotes re-building or transition, just because the manager naively used that word. what defines transition ? ..
I posted earlier today, 9 players that started today were at the club for at least 18 months , most have been playing together for over 5 years
The style of play is not much different to last season (dont believe me go and watch a couple of games) the only difference in play is Sterlings pace which was not available to Kenny last year.
We dont have the youngest squad in the premiere league, As a squad Arsenal are younger, As a team (first eleven) few clubs are younger , Villa being the youngest .. (so yes we got beaten by a team younger than ours).
I am 100% certain the board are not considering this season as transition, they want top 4 or at least top 6 , they wont publicly say that if they though it transition.
If changing manager is transition , then few clubs in the pl going through it, if adding 2 new faces to the team or 4 to your squad is re-building, then every premier league club is re-building, if injecting 3/4 youth players into your squad is re-building then Arsenal,United, Villa and spurs been re-building for the last few years ...

I think we need to stop being deluded about where we are, we are a club struggling to achieve its potential , and that is a problem that need to be fixed by the manager and if he can't then the board should be fixing it.
We spent 30m (more than 15 other clubs in the PL) in the summer adding to an already established team full of internationals ..

Roy

Yeah and the midfielder that played left back is guess what ...... better at left back then when he played midfield.

That's something for you. What a terrible manager.......not

JD

Spot on liverbird..he just ridiculed all of kenny's signings..all the players he brought in have not improved our squad in any way..allen is obviously his pet and would always play him even if henderson is playing better...what makes it strange is how he brought on cole ahead of suso..allen played the full game for no reason..why cant morgan or ngoo be on the bench?? we dont have strikers and i dont think they could do more harm than good the way our squad is right now

Yeah and the midfielder that played left back is guess what ...... better at left back then when he played midfield.
=======================
No he is not , he is a terrible left back, his good comes out when he plays forward which is the left of midfield .. stop being deluded you bunch of people .. you lot will only realise things are n't right until its too late and we are 18th in the table. It happened before and all the signs showing it may happen again.
Roy

I am not worried about the managers or the owners but am extremely concerned about the implosion our team has when we go down 1-0. We do not have a GO TO man at the moment. No one stands up to take hold of the strings and say I will take it from here except Agger.

And yeah I think BR is a great manager but if he will get sacked, it will be because of his stubbornness. He is making a point in playing Allen ahead of Henderson whereas recent form suggest Henderson is more energetic and risk taking where as Allen has run out of steam after so many games. BR is simply stubborn to not even give King Kennys buys a real chance at anfield under his regime. That's the sad part.

Downing was for me the best player to day for the sheer determination and hard work he put into the game. The number of crosses he put in between the keeper and 6 yards box with no one to pounce on them with a typical no. 9 move like Shelvey did last week.

Sad but true. His ego will cost him in the end.

Mgz

No he is not , he is a terrible left back, his good comes out when he plays forward which is the left of midfield .. stop being deluded you bunch of people .. you lot will only realise things are n't right until its too late and we are 18th in the table. Roy
===================
Roy you really think downing is better in midfield........ wonder who really is deluded?!?!

15 Dec 2012 21:12:50
I don't know why fans are blaming Rodgers reality is FSG have realised they can't afford financials aspects to run club like Liverpool that's why they hired manager Like Rodgers. Anyone who knows even little about footy will tell you that. Sacking Rodgers won't change anything even if Mourinho comes in he wouldn't do any better with the squad. Big problem we have is we can't offer decent wages to attract decent players so we have to settle for mediocore players that means finishing midtable. Even teams like man united have realised that so they go and get V persie and offer him lucrative contract in return he is scoring goals for fun and single handedly keeping them top of the table. Its sad but true footy has changed a lot and we have been left behind where teams like united city and Chelsea have moved with times even Arsenal fans have realised that.

Kopite

Sorry but its not the way you see it....

Man Utd

Van Persie is indeed a bad deal.....4 yr deal with 240K a week wage plus 24 mil transfer fee for a guy who is 29 is definitely a bad deal .... No doubt about that

Arsenal

They have been stock piling rubbish players for a way too long now...They pay relatively same level of wages to almost all the players...Plus a number of different issues...

As far as Liverpool is concerned, we have got good owners and a good manager....

The issue is that BR insults our intelligence by saying that our performances are great when they are average or good...

Plus I am not very appreciative of the so called bandwagon of having us believe that its a revolution rather than an evolution.....

Kenny Dalglish is no mug....He is one of the best talent spotters the game has ever seen...The only mistake he did was he didnt assess Downing's ability to handle pressure...Thats the only place he has been let down....All the other purchases suited the football he wanted to play.....

But what Kenny didnt do was to please and charm the media...So they branded him as someone out of touch with the game, which is just loads of non sense....

Football has not changed....Its still played with one ball, the size of the goal posts dont change, the number of players in a game dont change....

What changes is the non sense around football which some fans believe....

LiverBird

Liverbird comeon please only downing.

Henderson??

Buying Carroll and yet no right winger to get to the by line and get cross in! was that a good judgement call!

You cant fix a whole team in a single window...They wanted Young who went to United instead...But Downing is not a bad player either, its just that he couldnt make the progress mentally...

Henderson is a good box to box midfielder with great engine....

Isnt it a justification when Henderson is brought in in the derby?...If he was provided with the same faith as Allen he would have progressed even more by now...

LiverBird

How can the second poster say that van persie was a bad deal? he has scored a lot of goals in short period of time and will probably fire Utd to the title, how on earth you can state that its a "bad deal" is beyond me

Do the maths

awful result today the team lacks an inspirational leader someone who can create that little bit of magic and motivate the other players sorry to say gerrard is finished joe allen is a david batty in disguise footballer not a very good midfielder in other words BR needs to change is policies to achieve any kind of success at anfield if he cant then he might not be good enough to manage here time will tell like i said bad result today and cant see us doing much this season unless we get the right players in jan here's hoping. BILLYLFC.

15 Dec 2012 20:56:05
We have a good team on paper, well good enough to beat aston villa, our manager was managing a newly promoted team last year like villa, we have the better fanbase and sponsorship. so what is it they have that we don't have? PASSION....When you see fans walking out with 20 minutes left then you know your in trouble.

There are gapping holes in our teeam that need to be fixed. Right now the reserves are better than the first team. Borrell would make a better manager than rodgers but I will still back rodgers while he is manager. If we want to compete a succeful january is a must.

If only games were won on paper

this tika taka football should be left to xavi, iniesta, messi and co because it just isnt working at anfield. i honestly dont no wether it would work on a regular basis for any premiership side specialy sides who dont have the players to play it. the premiership is to fast and physical to have any side to play that style of football as its one and only way of playing. we specialy dont have the players to play it, we have a midfield now at anfield that is not even a top ten midfield. stevie g is the greatest player to ever pull on the red shirt in my opinion but injuries have now took there toll on him and that thing that happens to us all , age , is catching him up to. so who do we have to take over from a man who dragged us through so many sticky situations ? allen , henderson , shelvey , coady , sahin , lucas , downing , suso , sterling , not one are close to being anything like what he has been like , some are still young and have alot of potential ie sterling and suso but we really are in a poor situation regarding midfield. defence is decent with johnson agger skirtel enrique wisdom kelly robinson, coates a bit hit and miss and carra the legend should be coaching full time, but with are midfield so lghtweight and slow they are coming under so much pressure. then we have are forward ,are one and only forward , who cannot keep doing it on his own and really needs a mobile, strong skillfull striker next to him , michu and benteke would of been great signings but are scouts mustnt be able to get out of the sandon to get us these great bargain buys ! so brendon please look at other formations , maybe better scouts , and if fsg give you money, which they really need to , buy proven quality not potential because we dont have the timescale to wait for them to come good. jack

There is nothing massively wrong with the system. The problem is we have a crop of forwards who can't hit the broad side of a barn. Suarez is occasionally brilliant, but just as often wasteful. Sterling is a good prospect, but offers very little at the moment. Same for Shelvey. Cole is simply not very good. Hard to score goals with that as your front line.

Spot on jack, couldnt agree more.

Jack, I am afraid that I think you have no idea what you are talking about.

Our midfield I would say is one of the strongest in the league, and there is huge competition for places. If our midfield is so poor, why is it that we dominate games and it is clearly just the bit in the final third that is lacking?

Gerrard, Allen, Lucas are all good players, as will be Sahin if he gets his Dortmund form back. Henderson has improved vastly and in my opinion deserves a start next week. And then there is Shelvey and Suso, who are pushing for that CAM role.

That is 4 good players competing for 3 places, with 3 decent up and coming places also competing.

In short, we have a good midfield and those who say otherwise need to watch the games more closely. What is clearly missing is quality in the final third.

B101

If the man who replied to the original post thinks theres nothing wrong with the system i really dont think he has watched us much this season . weve conceded so many goal this season and alot at anfield. 3 times weve conceded 3 goals at home, are midfield 3 are non excistent when were defending. we really could of conceded 5 or even more today and its not just down to the defence, its the system and anyone can see were gettin over run in midfield.

Mr b101, gerards best days are gone, lucas has hardly played for numerous months and allen just isnt doing it either defending or going forward , sahin is struggling to to adapt, shelvey suso and sterling are young and still very inconsisteny. were ok passing round but were are the killer passes ? were are the late runs into the box ? were are the goals teams need from there midfield ? we have a static midfield and think we lack , creativity, goals , energy and strenghth. so dont no what games youve been watching.

I've watched every game, thanks much. I actually watch pretty much every PL game every week as a matter of fact.

My point was that the system is doing what it is designed to do. We had far more possession than Villa. We created far more chances than they did. Where the system broke down is that the players themselves were shocking. Our ability to finish is non-existent (including Suarez who frankly just isn't a central striker- he's wasted there in my opinion) and unfortunately we were rather shocking defensively.

Now one could argue that BR shouldn't be playing a system that doesn't suit the players he has to work with, but that's a different kettle of fish altogether than saying the system itself is bad.

I'll sign it this time to make it easier-

Wow. imaging one of the heads at barca deciding that it should be left to ajax 15-20 years ago.

I agree that the midfield is short of genuine quality and tika taka is not suited to premiership . pg

And yeah jack, Barcelona hammered arsenal in the UCL for 2 seasons and man Utd twice so easily and completely outplaying them with their tiki taka

Also for ur info man Utd and arsenal play in the English premier league, unless they have been kicked out or have started a league of their own.

Everything takes times. Great teams r built over seasons. U first learn to crawl before u run. First put passes easily and then with speed

so wait guys..all this talk of rodgers doesn't have a good team give him time..does aston villa have a better team??a better manager would win games with the same squad you say are not good enough...if anybody can justify what he did with the 30m FSG gave him.then I would support him..when he can spend 26m on borini and allen..am not so optimistic for january??I rather FSG save their money till he is gone by may..he would still obviously target players like borini and allen come january. its no coincidence we have been in the top tier in europe of money spent on transfers over the years and we haven't improved as a team..that's what happens when you give inexperienced managers too much control.

if FSG want to succeed they need to employ qualified professionals to help with the running of liverpool football club..they should setup the board for transfers they had plans for before rodgers came asap get a qualified md not ayre..then you see how easy it is for a club like liverpool to get back into the top4 if we buy the right players

if we continue this way of just wasting money on over priced average players..then no top 4 anytime soon buy average players sell quality players, buy more average players sell quality players.that has been our transfer policy for years it has too stop

BOSSMAN

I think you are right - spending money has not really been the issue it is how we have spent it is the problem

We definitely need a better senior management structure than the present one but it would mean adding more wages to the bill

Just in having returned from the game in a rather puzzled mood. For the first quarter of an hour Liverpool looked quite lively, fluent, and creative, if profligate. However, Aston Villa looked dangerous on the break, and Benteke in particular, so it was hardly a great surprise when he put Villa ahead. After that the same pattern became more exaggerated. Liverpool had most of the ball and continued to create chances, while Villa and Benteke broke well and exposed disturbing frailties in the Liverpool defence and midfield. Liverpool grew increasingly ragged as Villa went further ahead, and by the final whistle it all felt a bit desperate. I went home nursing ifs and buts. What would have happened if Liverpool had made the most of their early chances? What would have happened if Benteke had been playing for Liverpool? And so on. The big question is, where does this leave us now? The obvious answer is back in 12th place, with neither Europe nor relegation looking likely. It will be interesting to see what happens in the January transfer window, and in he summer. Having seen Rafa, Roy, and Kenny leave in fairly rapid succession, I would not advocate another managerial change, so perhaps all we can do is wait and hope for better. There are some grounds for optimism, after all. The wins against Wigan, Southampton, and West Ham offered hope, as did qualification for the next phase of the Europa League, but today showed that the team is still a long way short of perfect. Victory against Fulham next weekend now becomes absolutely crucial. Liverpool were lucky that a lot of the teams beneath them also lost today. They may be less fortunate if they fail to win next time.

15 Dec 2012 20:27:50
One thing that this game should highlight is that COUNTER-ATTACKING FOOTBALL WORKS. Fergie has done it for years. Arsenal were the masters of it at one stage and Benitez even made us into a force using counter attacking and fast football. It works in England and it's what I think is what made us so great under Benitez.

BthekingB

BthekingB are you saying that the pass and move football 95% percession is no good . The stats don't lie mate . We're the best team in league .........on the half way line

I would love to see fans reactions IF (big if) Rafa came in next season and we were in a worse position than now or under Kenny/Hodgson who would these 'fans' turn to next?

To clarify, as i said in my previous post, I'm fully behind Rodgers, this is simply a query into your thoughts

Hans

Rafa wont come back....he wanted..but never approached...
leave rafa...with this team which top manager wanna join us...

No suggestions ?

Hans

Sorry but rafa hasn't come back for you to make such a stupid statement like that. In my opinion rafa would do a great job. He knows liverpool inside out. He's tactically better than Roy and KK. Certainly purchases better players and makes far less mistakes. Rafa was the manager I wanted back at the end of last season as most lfc fans did. THEY DID FOR A REASON.

Mourinho will b free in the summer

I was born with a sunny disposition

Am quite cynical though and dry witted

But the posts on here are depressing me

Its like listening to Springsteens "Tunnel of Love"

After being crushed by your first love

Wheres the banter?

Shabby Sheik

Shame, sounds like someone needs a hug.
Cmon man grow a pair, you sound like a child.
Face up to reality, its what 'grownups' have to do!.

What kind of banter do you expect when we got owned by a team we were supposed to beat. People that claim their 'true' fans would be more worried for their team.

No I don't want a hug just some light
posts.

And thinking the end is nigh and being overly concerned aint gonna help much.

We need a goalscorer - we need to sign Welliton - he's awesome and prolific. We should also sign Jackson Martinez - also a prolific goalscorer.

We also need some defenders that can actually defend. Maybe we should paly Coates more regularly - don't rate Skrtl at all. We also need to play Kelly central when he's fit.

Downing at left back!! Can't work that one out - even worse than some of Rafa's crazy decisions of playing players so out of position.

If we can get £15M for Sterling - whover bids, snap their hands off! He's fast and a bit tricky, but not strong enough and can't deliver a final ball - if he's meant to be a winger - he can't get to the byline and cross.

Remember suareball Wilkins, and squareball Batty - well, we have squareball Allen and squareball Lucas. We really need a central midfielder in the mould of Mascherano.

Gerrard is past it - we need a creative midfielder.

As for Reina - never really rated him - although he has been much better than of late. He's had a bad season or two. We either need to bring in Ray Clemence or Bruce Grobbelaar as goalkeeper coach and/or replace Reina. If we want British, I highly rate Stockdale or Foster NOT Buckland. If we go abroad, then it has to be Neuer.

Also, Steve Clarke is probably laughing up his sleeve now - should have kept him and The King at the helm. I'm absolutely sure we'd be much higher up the table now had they not left. BR is out of his depth.

Just my opinon - hope some of you agree.

Red since '74

Sterling is 17-18 mate his still learning and one of the best players on the team why do you think Man U want him

He is over rated, and really nothing special at all.
A child in a mans game.

First of all i think joe allen had been brilliant for us at the start of the season but however his form has dipped recently and has been poor specially defensively. I believe giving him regular starts even though we have so many midfielders has made him complacent. Given current form I believe Henderson deserves a few starts and perhaps it help Allen to fight for is place in the squad. Also I know that Cole has scored a few goals recently but over all his performances have been poor other than the europa league game, and therefore i beleive rodgers should play suso and assaidi before him. The third goal was clearly his fault just like the second goal I thought was allen's fault because allen should have run into box to provide cover for the defense. I think rodgers weakness is that he likes to play players that he have worked with before a little too much.
I believe in rodgers and think we can improve and do much better.

Holly F***k listen to all you moaning prats, how many of you are really liverpool fans? Its getting so, so, so, so boring listen to all this BS get a grip and please stop wasting this once good site. We lost, wow get over it the days of teams being expected to win every game to these supposed lesser team in the EPL are gone. A defeat can be as good as a win some time, just the wake up call we need going into the run over xmas. So lets get the bad result out the road just now and go on and win the rest. I really dont believe all the rubbish post are from Liverpool fans then maybe again I could be wrong. YNWA

A defeat can be as good as a win so y have u not won anything for years as you lot have lost more games than won...Liverpool

Not being funny mate but when the gaffer (BR) says we expect to win the villa game ,as fans you must be confident .after today it will be a very long December .

15 Dec 2012 20:07:03
I don't really don't want to blame rodgers, cos we lost good players in bellamy maxi and kuyt.they would have helped with our goalscoring problems right now..but rodgers added more to our problems by wasting money on borini and allen..we had midfielders in abundance why add more the money he spent on allen, borini, and sahin he should have spent it on only quality strikers.we won't be struggling this way.

There are so many average players in the squad..only few want to take responsibility when we are playing bad.they just stroke the ball around without invention..we need quality players brendan.stop thinking like a swansea manager, you are a liverpool manager act like one..no more excuses, bench whoever you feel isn't playing well play the in form players and stop praising the team even when we play bad.in the end if you don't get results come may you're gone.but those players would remain

15 Dec 2012 20:05:29
Just got in from the game and have to say I'm not shocked by that result which has me thinking, have we really fallen that low. I work hard for my money, my season ticket cost £802 had a few pints before and after the game had a bet on the game, if you include the price of the game with that, today has cost me over £100. Now you can say it's my choice to have a pint and a bet and I shouldn't factor those costs into it, but I don't know anyone who goes straight the game and home again, a pint and a punt are all part of matchday. My point is i'm pi**ed off with people on here telling me that in three seasons time we will be top 4 and that i'm not a true supporter if I don't buy into this ethos. It's all very well spouting this crap when your not coughing up your hard earned money. I have said on here many times that I didn't want rodgers but I'm prepared to back him until the end of the season, if your offered the Liverpool job you take it. Tom Werner said " we aim to make Liverpool the best team in England and then Europe ". Is he having a f***in laugh, Tom heres news for you, were not even the best team on Merseyside. You can all buy into there bulls**t if you want but my Liverbird tinted specs are well and truely off and my eyes wide open. I suggest some of you do the same.

Waro

You should have bet on Villa to win 3-1 then. Stuck twenty on that, it would have paid for your season ticket. But you'd still be moaning.

Nick

Guaranga mate, calm down. if your that pissed off with the current liverpool team give your season ticket to a charity so it can do some good for others. no one tells you what you can and cant do at th end of the day its your choice to to listen to people and have a punt and so on go to the menopausal man talk page if you want to whine and take all these other whiney little bitches with you. we lost, so what. what does everyone expect with one recognised striker. we were by far the better team but we got punished for our lapses in defence, it happens sometimes the worser team wins.

Listen, we got beat 3-1 at home to Villa. You are entitled to moan. It was a piss poor result. Lets try and see it for what it was and stop this nonsense of trying to make excuses of a team in transition or new players, different way of playing blah blah blah. Look at the players we had on our team. There is no excuse.

15 Dec 2012 23:31:14
Totally agree mate. Those of you who are posting comments defending BR and FSG are in cloud cuckoo land.

Honest supporters who lay out hard cash in the name of true passion for the club they love are being fed rubbish words like outstanding and excellent when the results are stinkers.

Even true supporters will have to decide in this day and age if their pocket will subsidise what is in effect the people running the club taking them for mugs. When and not if supporters do not buy tickets and merchandise and this occurs globally FSG will realise what a stinker of a decision they made in appointing a novice manager to one of the greatest football clubs the world has seen.

It is not wrong at ALL to suggest that things at LFC currently are rubbish!
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

Warp you muppet, just because you go to watch games you think your better than me and that your opinion holds more weight than mine. Shows what an imbecile you are, yes you are right I don't go to an field but neither do a lot of other fans that doesn't mean we're not proper supporters though does it which is what is seemed to be implied by your statement " when was the last time you went to an field". So you carry on thinking your s proper supporter just because you go to an field and no one else can say anything cos they don't.

It's always the 2 extremes isn't it? We win, and we are going to win the league. We lose, we will get relegated and will have to bring in Rafa. Can us Liverpool fans not just stay in the middle, and be realistic?

Piledriver

Football is emotive with very little middle ground

15 Dec 2012 23:55:29
What score was Rafa's Liverpool's last home game against Villa?

15 Dec 2012 19:59:30
On days like these I feel embarrassed to be a Liverpool fan. Not because of how the team performed, but because of how the fans are 'performing'. People calling for Rodgers out, FSG out, Allen rubbish, Downing terrible, Gerrard a liability etc.

Its all just nonsense. We had a rough start but since we lost to United have gone on a pretty good run and are definitely heading in the right direction. Ok we lost today, it happens. United lost to Norwich, Arsenal to Swansea and so on. My point is sometimes you have an off day and teams that normally wouldn't beat you do. But that is no reason to start calling for heads to roll.

We were not that bad and completely killed them for the first half hour, the best thing to do is move on and look forward to the next game.

KiwiRed

But Allen and Downing ARE terrible!

Constructive critiscm is critical for the fabric of the team. Fans are one of the biggest part of a football club and imagine if we were all positive after the game... Do you think people would learn any lessons? Simply...no. If the players aren't playing passionately and consistent enough they need a boot up the backside, either by the manager (who isn't doing this at the moment e.g gerrard, Allen, sterling) or the fans. Some of the negativity is warranted because we played unlike the standard we should be playing at. To top it off if the manager talks about achieving top 2 and his philosophy all the time then at least back it up. Otherwise it embarrasses us. I'm behind rogers but like anyone, there is a line.

15 Dec 2012 19:48:05
If you won the premiership on possession we would be top of the league this season, my point is its no good having 70% of the possession without picking up 3 points.

The statistics don't lie we have the worse shots to goals ratio in the league, the same as the whole of last season.

We have no end product in the area where it matters, toothless, lacklustre and spineless.

This new style of football we are playing might work for Barca they have Messi, it don't work for us, it's borderline boring to watch with no finished product.

BR needs to have a rethink on tactics as unless something changes he will be the casualty before long.

Wizard

What tactics?

15 Dec 2012 19:31:29
Just to clear up a few things about some quotes we constantly see on this site
- Rome wasn't built in a day - has anyone seen Rome recently it is a dump
- Rodgers vs ferguson - saf was a professional footballer for 15 odd years and a manager for 10 years winning the Scottish league and cup and even a European cup winners before the united job

We lost today fair and square it happens sometimes

We are 13th league , there is not much between the 4th placed team and the 16th placed team this year in terms of ability and squad

We are still 3-4 years away from where we need to be

Keep the faith

Leam Red

Your Summation is correct

Just one thing to add BR should shut his mouth

Saying we are going for the top 2 is downright stupid

Shabby Sheik

Open your ears mate he didnt say that.he its tight and were 12 points behind 2nd.so get your facts straight

15 Dec 2012 19:30:55
Hi Fellow Reds, I'm fan from Indonesia (sorry for English). Villa game was a real test for BR to show his capability. This should be the catalyst game. People said same old same old after this game. I cant say we're in right direction now with BR. If we won today and no more same old.. you can say we're in the right direction. Don't excuse the thin squad and short of strikers, cos I believe if we have world-class manager we'll do much better with current squad. BR didn't get the best of Luis if he's going to be a top scorer, it's pure Luis self improvement in English football. It's very different to when Rafa shaped Gerrard-Torres deadly partnership (very tactical reason).

Reina, Gerrard and other key players are going worse this season. Why? BR isn't functioned well (I'm not a coach, but there must be something not going well). Yes we can play good football, but we have squad that capable to do that (it is an insult to the squad if we said we only can play good under BR).

It is time to look for world-class manager again, no more gamble on average Roy, out-dated Kenny and mediocre Brendan (Just wonder who recommended those).. or more time be wasted. Why can't we have another Houllier or Rafa calibre?

15 Dec 2012 19:11:43
I find it odd reading that Downing was told recently he can leave our great club in January if he wants too. Since then he has put in some good performances. I thought he had a good game today playing out of position (or is this his position for us now?).

My point is that since being told he can leave he seems to be playing better. What do fellow eds and reds think about this? Is it because the pressure is off as he knows he is no longer wanted or is it an attempt to look good to prospective buyers? Perhaps reminiscent of Torres' performance against Chelsea before they bought him?

Cheers,
RedChris

He is playing well so that a epl club comes in for him, or its back into the championship with middlesbrough.
Indian Buzzer

Maybe thers no dosh for Jan. then he would have to get his players on display to get some cash in.

15 Dec 2012 19:10:33
seems 2 me that cole may be getting some game time to help attract potential buyers in january. Same may apply for downing although he gets used as left sided cover.

That is no way to manage a football team, especially in the EPL.

15 Dec 2012 19:09:35
Hi All

I can't believe people who are calling for BR's head, what on earth do you except him to do? Our team is shocking.

Gerrard needs to go for the good of the team!!

I hate to say it but until Steven Gerrard is shown the door we'll be in the rubbishs. The people having ago at Cole, Downing, Hendo & Borini ask yourself a quick question? When was the last time Gerrard had a good game for Liverpool? ........... I don't think he's had a good enough game for LFC in the last 12/18 months yet he still plays every game and no one dares to question him.
I know he has been Mr Liverpool for the last 12 years but this is why we are in this mess we just don't know when to let go!!

In-BR-I-Trust!!

Dave LFC

I think BR has had 30m to to spend and when you consider what others like Pardow and moyers have bought then the arguement exists on wether BR has spent wisely

15 Dec 2012 19:50:29
Your one of the bigest muppet in thise site. Gerrard despite being poor creates more chances in whole league forget livepool and what Allen and Borini have contributed thise season despite being bought for more then 26+M. No one can point fingure to Gerrard where he is adapting his game where Allen and Borini know the systeam in and out.

Just answer me one Question what type of midfield is Allen coz his not attacking midfield or DM or box to box midfield neither playmaker. Plz tell me what kind of midfield Allen is

Gerrard is always to blame

And who's going to play in his place?

Trust is good but BLIND TRUST is not good...

Considering that Kenny was villified for his purchases I dont think BR purchases have done as well as we would have liked to...

But since he is so good at buttering up the British media, he is saved from the excessive criticism that Kenny was unfairly subjected to......

LiverBird

Then why did he use only 2 subs all game leaving Suso on the bench when we needed goals? Just don't get it.

Could not agree with you more
LiverBird

Shabby Sheik

Just answer me one Question what type of midfield is Allen coz his not attacking midfield or DM or box to box midfield neither playmaker. Plz tell me what kind of midfield Allen is??

Allen is a player who keeps the ball moving around the pitch, it's not his fault other players aren't doing their jobs.

If you want to get the best out of Allen you need other players to make the runs of the ball apart from Suarez none of our players move into open spaces,
that's why Gerrard is the problem he's good on the ball but he just doesn't have the mobility to move around the pitch off the ball anymore. If you have Allen & Lucas in midfield where do you play Gerrard? Lucas is better than Stevie in the DM position as for Allen he needs to be behind the ball he's no good playing off Suarez. All the top midfielders Xavi, Xabi, Pirlo, Scholes & Vieira as they got older they've all had to change their game, Gerrard to me doesn't seem to be able to do that.

It's going to take time for the likes of Borini to get used to premiership football, some of our fans who still want Carroll back, come on really? west ham play about 60+ crosses a game yet he's only scored 1 goal!!

Dave-LFC

You were making sense up until the scholes nonsense

15 Dec 2012 19:08:16
Joe Allen what a waste of money!!

Agree 100% he has been useless going forward and has been the cause of so many of the goals we have conceded. Shame BR can't see it and continues to play him

15 Dec 2012 19:07:54
We lost, it happens sometimes, get over it. Theres 20 more games to try and win. Only thing I want to say about the game is that Allen did absolutely nothing that spearing couldn't do, and thats saying something.

Hounsred

The thing is we lost to an average under strength team struggling at the bottom of the prem. what does that make us?

Fact is spearing was a great third string midfielder Allen is at the moment struggling in the first string role.

Some of what wake up!

Kenny dalglish left us 8th and our form in the 2nd half of the season had us in the relegation zone we was on a downward spiral yes he won the league cup but birmingham city did beforethat and a smaller club will this season if chelsea get knocked out

He also left us with a squad full of average players who cost 77 million pounds which most have neede to be shipped out and are yet to be replaced

Dalglish also had kuyt, maxi and bellamy etc and still wasnt doing that much better than we are now

Roy hodgson had even more better players like torres, meireles ontop of kiyt, maxi etc and wasnt doing too much better

BR has come in and promoted youth players and has only had 1 transfer window what we need is stability we're not even halfway through the season yet, we win a few on the bounce and we'll be back up there

You're letting BR walk alone, he's the right man he just doesnt have the right players

You dont have to agree with me but im supporting rodgers for atleast 2 seasons

You say you've been waiting 20 years for liverpool to win the league, you cant blame that on rodgers you fools

You sack him the rebuild starts again, u just sit there waiting for us to lose to b*tch and moan

Its going to take a couple seasons if u cant deal with that then move on

In Brendan Rodgers I trust YNWA

Kenny said the same thing take a couple of seasons then look what happened there. shund never ha got rid of RAFA. one thing rogers doesnt have, is the luck of the irish.clock is ticking. tik tok tik tok.

Your post is a load of non sense....
Your views are what the British media feeds you with...

They say that Kenny was not good and Brendan is the guy who introduced passing to English football...

But at the end of the day, it is the points table which speaks the truth...

But again sacking BR is not the answer but he should not be exempt from criticism...

LiverBird

He left us 8th having taken us on when we were 14th and now he's gone we're 12th.

Just some facts for you

Plus two cup finals, one of which we won

The season isnt over and dont let a league cup blind you on how poor we were before dalglish got sacked

Shak Attack

You are wrong again...

A trophy is a trophy no matter what..
Nothing compares to silverware

A FA Cup final isnt bad either...

So your theoretical assessment is incorrect....

We were fighting on three fronts almost for three fourths of the season....

What does that mean? You think people from London and Norway don't know anything? Where do people who know lots of things usually come from? I would hazard a guess that wherever it is that you come from (possibly under a bridge) they are particularly moronic, with you elected as head moron. Is there somewhere called Moronsville?

For all the true reds fans a warm salute. Please forgive my eventual gramatical errors because i am not an english man.First i want to ask what is in the head of FSG about buying young players?OK if they can buy with a little amount of money it is ok but when you buy a young perspective player with 15-20 mil pound do you expect to sell with 50 mil? Please ,how many transfers with that amount of money happend? In fact the risk to lose that money is higher then you succed. If you want to make money with youngsters do like Barcelona with La Masia. It is more lucrative to buy expensive players ,proven players, who can you bring every year Champions League football.Proven players is in my opinion players who is best in the best football leagues ,not in Holland,Turkey,Romania,Belgium because tems are week in that kind of leagues. For example Kuyt how many goals have in Holland and how many goals have in England,Andy Caroll how many time scored in Championship and how many times scored in Premier League, including time spent at West Ham?
About the thing that we must stay behind the team when are poor it is ok but when you see that the team it is full of mediocre players with a mediocre coach we must act, because if after year after year we became a middle table team and that is a mediocre mentality like small teams and we are not a small team we allways want to be the best.whit whom?whit a middle table coach/He never won anything,is young and learn?Learn anywere else because we never have time to lose,we never won the EPL!Don't missunderstood i support Liverpool from 1992 but i want a great coach for a great team like Liverpool.Bye the way do you think Barcelona sell Messi for 100 mil pounds or Xavi?No because they are great and they buy players with 40 mil.Mircea

{Ed002's Note - FSG like many owners will seek to bring in players who reduce the average age of the squad and potentially reduce the future spending on players. This is not uncommon and with the impending FFP rules something other clubs are looking to do as well.}

in response to all you brendan doubters-get off his back. in todays game we lost but had 4 million per cent possession.brendan secretly knows that uefa are going to change the rules in 2049 to victory on possession stats and he is trying to be ahead of the game.even though we will be in division 19 of the vauxhall conference when the change comes in-we will be so far ahead of the competition.brendan is an absolute genius.joe allen is also a genius.we must all support brendan because 37 years from now it will all be worth it.

We tend to talk about the spine of the team, a good foundation on which to build. That performance had no backbone! Gone are the days stevie g drags us through, we need the players to step up. Positive was Henderson again brought something on to the pitch. But once again and even the most diehard Liverpool fans will agree that once joe cole came on the game was over, I'd rather joey Barton! At least he would have entertained me. Never mind lets reflect at the end if the season hopefully still in the premier league.

Simple fact is we should have scored earlier and had the chances to do so' we then would be singing BR name. The players we have are not good enough to take them, we lack the quality and results like this will continue.

It's no good enough but with the owners we have nothing will change fast in terms of better players coming in.

My take on the situation is we are creating loads of chances and not putting them away. We play a slow build up game passing back to the defender, along the back line and then forward. We are putting unecessary pressure on our defenders. By the time we get the ball forward we are up against a packed defence, even the best strikers would struggle to score, our players don't have the time or space to place a shot, they just blast it towards goal, that's why we have so many so called chances. Villa had 6 shots on target and scored 3 goals.
I thought after the past few weeks we had turned the corner. But how can you turn the corner in a barrel. BR's system just won't work with the players we have, and FSG will not or cannot afford the players we need to play Tikka Takka at the top level. Even Ambrovitch has been quoted of telling Benitez he didn't expect Benetez to produce Tika Taka because he didn't have the players and could not compete in the same way as Barcelona.
I'm all for giving BR time, I think he needs to adjust his philosophy to be able to go a step higher, at the moment we play attractive football. but the most attractive football is 3 points.

Finally!

Great to see so many LFC fans have woken up!

I have been saying all along BR talks a good game but delivers nothing. We are so inept in the last third.

Why is it our transfer policy is so incompetent. Look at Swansea who go and buy Minchu for 2m. Where are our scouts? Then we loan out a striker without a replacement!! We sell Ince and want to buy him back for £6m.... Who is running this laughing stock of a comedy show.

Man U & Man City already embarassingly 20 odd points ahead and its not even half way through the season yet.

I predict a mid table team from a mid table manager.

On a positve it was great to see the players supporting Alder Hey Hospital with there annual visit.

All our scouts are on here, if you read this site between now and Jan 1st you will get tipped off about 5 or 6 hundred players who are all world class and will win us the Prem !!!!

Its hard to see any positives from this loss I was really hoping for a win today considering its my birthday but I guess you can't win them all the team needs a lashing from Rodgers I wish he was the kind of person who would do that but I doubt it. Losing at home is not something you like to see specially to Villa and by 3 goals oh well. Thanks ed002 for supporting our owners I agree with you they haven't made many mistakes I think the players just need more of lashing thats all there is absolutely no atmosphere at Anfield as well that was another sad thing to see. YNWA right? How is it that I feel that everyone tonight is walking alone...

Ps. Have a go at me if you want it.

Those lads on the pitch should feel more hurt than us - however, if they can take the lessons from this defeat and learn and improve in their next games, that's already a positive IMO Singred

Seems like we are at a cross road for some fans.

It isnt 2005 anymore and our squad isnt as good as man city, uniteds or chelseas

We dont have owners like chelsea or city so we cant buy a whole new team and buy trophies so its going to take time and sacking the manager and stafting AGAIN will not help

You either come to reality and accept we are not a top 4 side anymore FOR NOW or you change allegiances to another team up there competing for the title

Because moaning isnt going to solve anything

BR has a ha to get rid of a lot of deadwood that kenny and commoli wasted 100 million pounds on so deserves atleast time to make his team his own

Shak Attack

15 Dec 2012 19:16:21
he just replaced deadwood in carroll and adam with more deadwood in allen and boirini sturidge looks like a world beater compared to what started up front shelvey is one of the most wasteful people your likely to see in front of goal sterling is great at running with the ball but end product is zero he has no power in his shots or crosses i know hes v young but ive never seen a prem footballer who shoots like a ten year old just jimmy

I really enjoy the process taken by a manager to build his own team, constantly tweaking and refining it until he sees the fruits of his effort with a team capable of challenging for honours on a long-term basis. With Rodgers I'm confident we'll get there. 4th position and a CL spot is still achievable. Singred

Or we can gradually rebuild with young players and reach we're we once were.

I agree..... Brendon is doing a good job.... fact is we need some quality players who can score goals... apart from lack of goals the football has been much better to watch... couple of good signings I think Liverpool will challenge top 4.

It is utter non sense that Kenny bought flops....

As I have said Rodger's buys (including loan guy Sahin, for whom he paid top dollar but doesnt play) havent actually covered themselves in glory....

The truth is that Kenny Dalglish wasnt allowed to complete his project...So it would be a complete travesty if the same were to happen to Rodgers...He needs some stick from the fans and press so that he stops sugarcoating these performances and concentrate more on the real stuff of managing the team so that his decisions benefit the team....

Why did he play Downing at LB when he had Johnson/Agger available for that job is beyond me?....Why does Coates not get a game is also beyond me??....He is on an ego trip...He needs to be brought down quickly, so that he starts making sensible decisions....

Villa are one of the best counter attacking teams in EPL....If you were to take only 1st half performances into account, they would be in the top 6...So to keep on attacking leaving gaping holes at the back is not a sensible gameplan....

I am a simple fan and am aware of this information...With all the sophisticated information systems that clubs have in place these days, BR should have been aware of these things...

Instead he started talking about aiming for 2nd when shutting his mouth would have been a better option??

LiverBird

Rodgers has to go.

Too much waffle and no substance

I have been saying Rogers is the emperors new clothes since he came

Obviously a bad result. I would urge any reactionaries out there to re-watch the first 27 minutes of the game. Having said that, I'm still gonna support my club - it's the only input I get to have you see. Well I could whinge and have a negative impact but that's not going to fix us is it?

I just want to add this (and yes, I know he was mis-quoted) - Brendan please just stop talking. Your team manages to claw back some credibility and then you open your mouth and ruin it. The man talks way too much. The only LFC manager I can think of that droned on like that was Woy and he used to make me cringe evry time without fail.

FSG are leading this club towards relegation. Their appointment of a waffling conman like Rodgers beggars belief. This guy is completely out of his depth and he should be sacked tonight.

The club is regressing under this clueless excuse for a manager. 22 points out of 51 is a sick joke. The Premiership is going to be saying goodbye to LFC come May if FSG do not have the guts to sack him now because he will without doubt get this club relegated.

Luis Suarez should be sold on January 1st as he is not going to resolve our goalscoring problem. Raheem sterling should likewise be sold on January 1st as his pathetic one goal contribution so far says it all about his true impact this season.

The pathetic excuse for a goalie Reina should also be got rid of.

For anyone who still thinks Rodgers deserves to stay as manager should ask themselves would a quality manager pick Stewart Downing or waste 26 million on insignificant nobodies like Joe Allen and Fabio Borini?

It is time to get the 'Yonks out' scarves out of mothballs. FSG are only using LFC as collateral for loans to finance the Red Sox.

KENNY

What a pathetic post. Call yourself a real supporter? The knee jerk reactions people have to 1 result is unbelievable.
Last week against West Ham everything was on the up.
Downing was playing coz Enrique was injured, he has aready been told he can leave so he isnt in the long term plans.
Suarez had a bad game but he has scored 13 goals and carried us this season so why would we sell him?
Sterling is the first pacey winger we have had in years and cost us hardly anything, if he was sold, who would replace him? Same with Suarez?
At the end of the season if we are in the top 6 that will be successful campaign.
Some perspective please.

Jay

Great post......The real Rodgers is coming out...full of talk, not a clue.

I don't care about the consolation goal. Gerrard has become a liability. Gave the ball away 3 times before completing a pass. I would start Henderson over him at this point. And Allen seems to have lost the plot. He needs a few games on the bench.

Sterling has lots of potential, but that's it. He is too lightweight and hasn't produced anything to warrant his permanent spot in starting 11. I agree he will be a star, but he needs a few games on the bench too.

Was a hard watch today. Humbling. Atleast we know where we stand. It was a nice week in the top half of the table. We dropping down again.

Agree with Gerrard and Sterling points. Dont like Shelvey on the wing either, what happened to Assaidi? Surely he is worth coming on when we are chasing a game, at least he is a natural winger. Same with Morgan, if we need a goal I think he could come on as a sub and do a job, he knows where the goal is which is more than can be said for the whole team today.

Jay

What the hell lets put them all on the bench

I'll get me boots!

Morgan isn't good enough. Offers very little in general play. Ngoo is a better player

Morgan wasn't on the bench cos he's out in Singapore with the U-19's!

How many games has suso played since signing the contract? BR played him some games earlier made him sign the contract and now he is benched. Sterling realized this and so he is playing it hard to get games and so i think he wont sign it untill the jan transfer window ends to see what players come in to compete for his place. I feel assaidi wasn't signed by BR or wasn't what he wanted (Remember Rafa's beef against Keane?). Downing was the best player today for lfc, SteveG on the decline. Allen just average! But just relax friends its not over yet *th place is ours!

Am sorry but Rodgers has to go before fans really start turning. A few weeks ago he said finishing above 8th would be fantastic. Then he said top 4. Them he says second. Rodgers dosent have a clue. He is sending our Liverpool football club backwards at a very fast rate. Rodgers out!! Interim manager until end of season should be Kenny Dalglish( who should never had been sacked) or Roberto Di Matteo.
If you can please post this comment then it would be very much appreciated.

Obviously fans are divided about Rodgers. But I have never seen so many fans leave a game with 20 mins to go. A while ago anything could have happened but we look predictable week in week out. Villa had only scored 4 goals away from home before today. I think that says enough. And really, joe cole is a waste of time. I could have just stood in the middle of the pitch without touching the ball and would have had a better game. These players just wanna turn up pick up their wages and go home. One of the worst performances I've seen in years

Totally agree. Joe Allen also rubbish. Has not got an attacking bone in him. Another waste of money that is running out.......and will run out when we sign the prolific goal scorer Sturridge.....sad times for LFC

15 Dec 2012 18:13:41
Didn't get to see the match, we're we hard done by or did we deserve to lose?

Bit of both, some dodgy calls by the ref (Agger non-call and the handball by Baker). We played well in spurts but didn't looked all that threatening. Villa also played well and could even have netted a couple more. Pretty painful game but not quite as bad as some of the posts make it out.

If you can't score chances and track players through the midfield and close the ball down .you don't desevre anything .so we have big problems ,and its all very well BR saying we don't have the players for what he's trying to do .but we will never get them .so time to change the game plan to suit the players we have .

Its Liverpool you kopites are always hard done by or cheated out of games by the referees the great Liverpool never lose fairly...

We did enough to score 2 or 3 before villa went ahead. both penalty shouts were dodgy. villa gameplan was superb.

Poor result today,Rodgers still has a lot of work to do, just when we think we are turning things around this happens, just hope Fsg realise that more investment is needed in the team

Not going to happen FSG have no money to invest despite all the talk of these average players we are meant to be interested in.

FSG have realised the financial situation....and they can't afford it.

always something to say ed002 about us as fans would you feel the same way if you brought in rodgers borini allen assaidi maybe ince and kept sturridge i think not bet you were the same when hodgson was here and you wouldnt have him either weve seen the best longer than you we know when its not right {Ed002's Note - Again, it has nothing whatsoever to do with Chelsea but perhaps you should think very hard about how much of an embarrassment for Liverpool fans it is when one of the few people supporting the Liverpool owners is a Chelsea supporter. Rather than bitch and whine about me, why don't you join those who are grizzling and bleating about Liverpool's owners, players, manager etc.. Oh sorry, you are doing that as well.}

Good reply Ed, think the OP was doing some childish venting. There are a lot of us who can appreciate the objective viewpoint.

Ed 2 if this was Chelsea there would have been 6 managers by now:) {Ed002's Note - Actually Chelsea has just caught up with Liverpool in terms of managers since 2009 - that is the real reason that Di Matteo was sacked. Sadly I cannot see Chelsea making the same inroads in to Liverpool's turnover of owners.}

15 Dec 2012 19:33:03
oh ed002 your incoherent ramblings just give me pure headache man...its all empty noise.

You cleverly dodged the OP question amonst all that utter garbage you wrote...if Chelsea had appointed Rodgers and had signed Assaidi, Borini, Allen, kept sturridge and were languishing in 12th place in the table would you be happy?

I suspect the answer is an emphatic no so stop bleating on about how we need to "get behind the team" and all this pc junk.

Liverpool are dry, Rodgers is dry, the players are dry and the fans are frustrated...do you expect us to be blowing bubbles skipping along holding hands? We are not in a disney film mate.

We are unhappy, we are grown adults and we are allowed to express that anger, thats what this site is for.

If you dont like it then shimmy along to some other place where you wont be subjected to "glifnards" like us.

I dont understand why you dont go and find another hobby to fill your time, your less than useless editing this site and all you do is incite and provoke confrontation and aggression.

Dean {Ed002's Note - You're an obnoxious little shit aren't you. I give my time for nothing and give you nice little snippets of transfer news and explain when transfers won't happen. However, I don't expect any compliments from the cocks*ckers like you who would just whine about everything to do with the club. Interestingly, you are just the type of fan who is a laughing stock to the owners and not just the supporters of other clubs. You might want to look at the name of this site before you frame it as somewhere for you to come along and do nothing but abuse the owners, the manager and the players.}}

That was embarassing Dean. N can we stop comparing ourselves to chelsea. The targets of the two clubs this season r completely different. N btw we dont have Roman to bankroll us.

Rodgers out!!

You are all the same as soon as we lose lets jump on the band wagon and get the br out.
what you need to understand, we are going through change. I'm like any other liverpool fan and get angry when we lose, we are not going to win every game and i'm sure the manager and players don't go out there to lose and not try, every team has the day and today it was villas. instead of blasting them lets hope its a bllip and we get back to winning ways.

Who would you replace him with? {Ed002's Note - I was waiting for someone to point out that Super Stevie Nicol was seen entering Anfield about 5:15.}

15 Dec 2012 18:05:41
So I think the majority of people with eyes will be in agreement that today's performance was not what we want to see, especially at Anfield. Although I'm a generally optimistic fan, even I feel that this isn't what I want to see at my club

However, the fact that, even by half-time, the 'Anti-Brendan' brigade was out in full force is a disgrace to our club. Look at last weekend, when the changes that BR made ended up giving us a victory in a tough away game. Ok, so this week it didn't turn out that way, but next week things can easily turn around and we may well be back in the hunt for fourth by the time January comes around.

When the transfer window opens, we will surely add to the squad and that can only improve things, both on the pitch and in the stands.

But there will still be those who are not convinced and will not rest until BR is forced out of the club. But let me ask you this. Who could come in and do a better job without major investment? Who would you hire if your wish was granted and BR left?

Now that the perennial requests of Dalglish and Benitez are unavailable, I beg of you to not start listing off the likes of Guardiola, Mourinho and Klopp. Others, like Bielsa, Rijkaard and Hiddink, will not come to a club sitting in 12th, no matter how big a club that is. So we would have to lower our targets, and who does that leave us with. Mark Hughes? Alex Mcleish? Can anybody honestly tell me they are better than Rodgers?

Aside from my original choice to take over in the summer, Jamie Carragher, I honestly can't think of a realistic, obtainable choice that is could do a better job than Rodgers is doing with the resources he has available to him. So I say stick with him, as there is no-one else who can come in and do better right now.

saw the liverpool game , it was a nightmare the defence was awful. and the attacking so we definetly need a striker why dont we go for alexis sanchez he is :

fast
a goal score
ball wizard
dribbler
that would be great and it would cost around 25-35 million

Have you ever seen Sanchez play?? He plays for the best team in the world yet he only scored 15 goals in 42 matches.

15 Dec 2012 18:03:13
Here is a way to look at the polar shift on this website. Everyone that claims to be 'true' liverpool fan being on about how it will come good in time and that we need to stick by the team and the manager and keep slating other fans negative comments when they are frustrated. That is the positive side.

Then you have the negative side that all believe rogers is not the man for the Job and is at a club beyond his capabilities. They also criticise a lot of the players mostly singling out players they want to leave in jan. on top of that most of them believe these current owners cannot handle a football club (evidence shows that this can be true at times). So we have positive and negative fans. Every club has negative and positive fans.

Back in the 80's when we would lose a match, do you not think everyone would be negative? Only difference is then we had a great team and we where always top. Now we have an unbalanced squad of players some of which are clearly past it.

Inconsistency is the problem at liverpool. Gerrard for all he has done for our club cannot start every match when he's playing so poorly. Allen either needs a rest or he's had been overhyped to the extent of actually showing his fru colors. Sterling is still young and shows a lot of ability but he clearly cannot play at the top level when he loses the ball everytime he decides to dribble. Suarez is still nowhere near clinical. Only criticism I have of rogers is that he doesn't play people in their natural positions. It's clearly worked in certain places (downing LB, Enrique LW, wisdom RB) but why would you play shelvey who has no agility or ball skill on the wing when you have Assaidi and suso on the bench? Sahin is a world class player and I know he hasn't proved himself but have gerrard and Allen? These are questions the manager needs to answer. I am behind rogers and he's not going to be sacked (for all the negative fans) and I'm sure he'll be given this entire season and most likely beyond.

Fsg have invested a lot and save our club for liquidation, people must not forget that. The problem is when they do invest we tend to not use it wisely (Carroll £35mill Henderson £16mill, downing £20, Allen £15).

Back to my original point, there is supposed to be negativity when we lose otherwise that shows we do not care. Are the positive fans really jolly when we get our arses handed to us by a club we should beat? No it's just they would to be the 'true' fan so they make a statement making them seem heroic. At the end if the day the team is playing inconsistently and the only ones to blame are the players getting paid millions a year. Not the manager. If a run of bad games started and we continued to lose do you think positive fans would stick up for BR? Vice versa do you think the negative fans wil have anything to say if we are Winning games? No because we are supposed to be winning.

When you are supposed to be winning even 'true' fans will begin to see what is actually happening in front of them. So the people saying go support chelsea and man city, get your head out of your arses because people are slowed to express their opinion on a banter site. For the ones saying BR out, look at the true reason why we are losing. Certain players need to rotated to the bench. Terrible result today and I'm never too positive about a game because how can you be? I love lfc but when you know things are bad there's no point putting my head up my apse and saying go support another club if people have a different opinion. You fans know who you are.

Bang on mate. Wish you had left your name.

Nick

Well posted OP ..
Just like last year , the players are not delivering week in week out, they seem to choose the big games to perform and might be taking the should win games for granted ..
But just like last year, the buck stops with the manager unfortunately ...

Worth noting:
2010/2011 after 17 games 11th with 22 points and -1 GD
2011/2012 after 17 games 6th with 30 points and +7 GD
2012/2013 after 17 games 12th with 22 points and 0 GD

6 players that started today were playing at the start of 2010/2011 season
9 players that started today were playing at the start of 2011/2012 season.

Bang wrong mate. the difference in the 80's was that we didnt have the internet!

Rafa was a proven manager who had won trophies prior to joining LFC. Hodgson & Rodgers have won nothing. We should have went for Pelligrini when he left Real Madrid. We need a manager who the players respect

15 Dec 2012 17:59:31
Wow!
17 games played, 5 wins, 5 losses, 7 draws.. Now that is truly something to be proud off. Can't see us getting more than 55 pts this season.
Fantastic work, we are truly 'fighting for scraps'.
That's what happens when you employ a inexperienced manager.

Sorry boss...we are rebuilding....
since rome took 100 years and sir alex took 8 years..we have still time...

No manager is born experienced some1 has to give him a chance. ferguson got more than 5 seasons give brendan atleast 1. for gods sake its like u people r waiting for him to loose to thrash him.

We've been building since the final day of the season ............1991

We employed Dalglish who has won the premier league as a manager and his last 19 games in charge read 11 defeats, 5 wins, 3 draws after spending over £100million on the players he desired.

that's what happens when the owners succumb to the fans demands.....

15 Dec 2012 17:58:12
Grow up and don't pull kenny and comolli into this mess..fine they didn't buy good players last season, but we still played fantastic football. and we all agreed we needed a striker who can score goals..then rodgers comes in and takes us back to last season where we dominate games and don't win..its rodgers fault we are this way fsg gave him 30million to spend and he wasted it on allen and borini..our main problem was goalscoring, and he didn't fix that..

I think we need a director of football.to help us with this unnecessary splurge on average players..if we were scoring goals nobody would care about all the penalties we should have had this season. For how long should we keep saying we dominated the game we created chances, the refs don't give us clear penalties.only the three points matter this days and villa got it. nobody complained when we played rubbish. And beat westham last week so why give excuses today.

I said it yesterday what if we loose our next game they called me names here..we have lost twice in 12 games we are 4points of top 4 that's bull..villa are now unbeaten in 5games,norwich are unbeaten in 10games.where are they on the table??

PACMAN {Ed002's Note - I understand that the Board have been considering brining in someone else on the footballing side - whether they would have the DoF title or no is another matter.}

This is absolutely spot on PACMAN ....
The owners in their own admission do not know enough about football and the premier league , they need a footballing head figure with years of experience to give support to the owners and the manager .. At the moment its like the blind leading the blind which will eventually results in knee jerk reactions that wont be productive .

Todays result is one of those freak results that happen in football all the time .. Norwich beating united, Bradford and Arsenal and many more ... Well done to Villa who played well and knew how to get at us .. simple.

Don't blame Dalglish and. Comolli? Your joking aren't you need I remind you of the farce they over saw?

Well just to remind you since you clearly have a short memory...

Selling a world class striker in Torres and replacing him with a cart horse in Carroll when there was better out there..,

Wasting money on the likes of Downing, Henderson, Adam, and just to repeat myself ,Carroll ,at the eye wateringly expensive amount of over £77m , I wouldn't have paid 77p for that shower and even then I would want change...for that amount we could have bought Dembele, Tiote, De Jong and Mertens and probably had change for a fish and chip supper!!

Playing pretty football is all very well! our manager describes himself as a student of football! he needs to look at the history of the club he has taken over! Shankley, Paisley & Fagan we're masters of the game! are we sure the owners really have our interests at heart? I hate to criticize BR but there are problems here??

Wait for the end of the season to pass ur judgement on the manager.every manager wants to build his own team.this cant happen in 1 transfer window.

Seriously did any of you watch the game? Downing was probably the best player on the pitch... That says a lot! That was disgraceful! We were lucky in Sunday! Reinas time is up awful again. They walked through a very bad defence. Passing side to side doesn't get you anywhere, I can't believe the stats we didn't look like scoring after 20 mins! Lucas was nonexistent, sterling had a bad game and suarez just moaned! Honestly don't think brendan has a clue! Suso should have come on, Shelvey should have stayed on for another below par performance by Allen.
I am very very worried. That was not a Liverpool performance, it was horrible. Hope I'm wrong but I can't see us in the top half of the table unless we get some amazing players. I think messi would struggle to help at this point. I don't care if you don't agree but please open your eyes these are very bad times for Liverpool football club.
Marc

WTF did you watch? We won the game everywhere except the goals scored number.

We were not lucky on sunday we scored 3 legit goals and we outplayed villa today.v need a striker who can finish atleast 1 of more than 20 chances we create.

Haha yes I did watch and that's why I said it! The only stats that win a game are goals scored! To much bottling it and don't even get me started on joe cole! Wake up u tits! Us fans deserve more Liverpool FC should still be a great club and we are going backwards. But never mind the commitment and work rate was fantastic eh? The attacking and defence was abysmal as its been all season. U can't blame refs and bad luck forever

Allen and Sterling definitely need some rest. Henderson n sahin could do with some game time. Will keep the players fresh n stop complacency creeping into the squad. Some players in the squad seem to take their places for granted.

Hi eds, great site, addicted.
Some positives from today.
We only lost by 3 goals.
Gerrard scored.
We passed a lot.
Early days yet.
We will finish second !
From the bottom that is.

Simply mathematics will tell you we lost by 2 goals.

Sorry but this is what I see- We build up too slow. Overdoing the passing, giving the opposition too much time to organize defence. We need to change our game or invest some heavy money in better players as this team is not good enough for this style of football.

15 Dec 2012 17:53:02
I said before sacking Benitez was one of the big mistake again sacking kenny in just 18 months was big mistake now Sacking Rodgers will be again big mistake. Nothing will change by sacking Managers. The problems are deeper than that. If you see last 3 seasons we have spent lots of money on average players reason is we are not ready to pay decent wages to atleast attract class players. Sturridge or ince might improve our squad but won't solve our problems or drive us to next level owners need to understand instead of wasting lots of money in transfer market why shouldn't we start offering decent wages to players who can drive or take us to next level. Example we buy Damiao for 25+M and offer him 120-30k aweek as bussiness point of view when time is right we can sell them for huge profits at the same time players of that calibre will help us to fight for champoins league places.

15 Dec 2012 17:46:04
We desperately need (in order of importance):
1) a finisher that can give us 15 goals a year. If and when Suarez doesn't score, no one else comes forward.
2) a creative midfielder (i.e., Xavi, Modric etc) to spray passes into the box.
3) a back up midfielder for Lucas because Allen is not getting the job done.
4) a back up centre back because Skrtel & Agger are tiring playing every game and it shows. Coates is not ready.

I fully support Rodgers and his vision. The new "tiki taka" system is a joy to watch. But Rodgers has to move on certain players, put his stamp on the team, and instill a winners' mentality. ra1969

And a Left back, and a goal scoring winger..

We desperatly need miracle..to save the season...

Really grates on me some of the posters on here posting quoting shankley and saying fans are fickle because we moan when we get beat and saying we are in a transistional (spelling) period. what do these fans expect after a terrible result no one to complain and show their anger at the result. I think it shows just how passionate the fans are. Also there are teams with new managers that dont have the resources that we do that are doing better than us this season and our players are of better quality than theres so we have to look at the manager he is the 1 that picks the starting 11 he is yhe 1 that picks tactics and substitutions and he is the 1 that should be motivating our players to get them to play at there best. How long can we use the transistion excuse its been over 2 seasons now.

Theres a difference managing liverpool and any other club

15 Dec 2012 18:41:11
His actually picking Kenny's starting 11,so its a bit unfair to say its all Rogers his fault its largely not his team, being disappointed is understandable but you are just fickle, did that upset you? Leem

Please post in banter eds. listen the writing is on the wall for Liverpool. This team is nowhere near champions league quality. We need major investment because none of this team bar Suarez agger skrtel Lucas and Regina are producing what is required when you pull on the famous red shirt. And before anyone asks I haven't forgotten about Gerard because bar the game against everton and Newcastle he has been very ordinary and has never really come back from his injury last year. We need quick and skilful players who can unlock the opposing teams defence, my choices for January would be dries mertens, theo Walcott,Christian erickson and lorrente. I'm fed up of mediocre players coming to our club. Time to spend big fsg because Sturidge and ince are not the answer.REDMICK

Reina? He is a shadow of his former self. Jones shud be first choice based on recent performances.

There will be days along the way that will hurt and it will be difficult for us. It is going to take time."

Fans overreact last week we were heading for top four - top 2 before the game and spirits were high, 4 points behind the top four we can do it", today we loose and Rogers should be sacked and the club is in trouble? The league is very open teams drop points a run of good results can get us in touching distance nobody has pulled away from the pack besides the top 2, its a disappointing result, every team above us will loose again that's how it goes, I'm absolutely gutted by today and its not fine to loose this way although I think we started the game very well, we should have killed the game early, but we all know we need another striker its no secret. What we don't need is more plastic fans waiting for Rogers to loose a game just so they can tell you "I told you so" only to disappear with the next string of wins, its sad you only see some people here when we loose, sacking anybody won't do any good right now, and to suggest that it would is just daft. how on earth can people say we have got a good young manager.he is way out of his depth i have said so since the day he joined us.allen brings nothing at all to the team rodgers will never leave him out waste of money.we supposed to have started transition years ago but are going backwards with rodgers and his comical tactics.and no i will not go away and support chelsea i will have my say like the rodgers lovers do.i have supported liverpool since 1964 and this is one of the worst managers ever

Coomon mate...allen is the best passer..
second to xavi, third to javi, and fourth to iniesta...

I have been saying this since his appointment. BR is at best an average manager, he has one tactic and one way of setting his team up and any good manager already knows how to counter it.
I keep hearing the same rubbish about giving him time, as he imposes his style....he has imposed his style and it isn't working...wake up people.
A decent manager works with what he has and then builds on the foundations, from what I have seen of BR at Reading and Swansea he tried to push this style without working at basics. I also seem to recall him saying he doesn't really believe in training...no rubbish I think that's evident.
He needs to be replaced by a manager who has more than one tactic and can work with the talent that we already have.

Sven

Worst manager? Um not heard of Roy Hodgson?

I bet united thought the same when they stuck by ferguson even though he struggled for more than 4 years at the beginning.

Lads, all I'm reading is "It's painful watching Liverpool right now"; "Tripe", "get Brend'e'n" out! .. BRENDAN(?!)

You lot need to wise up and realise that times have changed, we haven't got a gut busting Gerrard pulling us from the mire, or a Torres grabbing an 89th min winner...

It hurts, damn right it does. Just dust yourself down and look forward. We were un-done by good counter attacking(and a great 2nd goal ) football.

I agree that this inconsistency has been going on for too long, but we as fans have to accept that serious mistakes(all throughout the club) have really hurt us.

The changes we need to make are obvious. But hoping for top four this season is just a pipe-dream. We ARE Liverpool, but nothing is given, you have to earn it.

I still believe in the team and will continue to support all my life, ups and downs an all...Lets give Villa credit for their efforts eh?

John Henry,

I understand that you are a very intelligent man who has been successful throughout your business life. You must therefore appreciate that business experience and significant investment is the absolute minimum necessary if you really want to be the best.

If Real Madrid change managers or players they go and get the best out there, e.g Mourinho and Ronaldo.

When Man Utd eventually change managers, do you really believe they will be looking at the likes of Martinez or Rodgers?

If Man City fail to win the league this year and sack Mancini, do you think they will stop investing top money in players to maintain their position in the top 4? Do you think they will be considering the likes of Martinez or Rodgers?

I sincerely hope you now realise that modest investment (when compared to those who are prepared and able to spend top money on top players) and the appointment of someone like Rodgers (who I am sure is a nice guy and talks great football theory but who has actually achieved next to nothing), will simply not work. I hope you don't waste another 30 or 40 million on 3 or 4 additional average players thinking that it will make a difference, because it wont.

If you don't have the money or knowledge to be able to do anything different, please sell to someone who does. I am happy for you to make a reasonable profit if you are able to, as you saved our club and you will always have my thanks for that, but I don't believe that LFC should ever accept anything less than being number one, not even for a second even if one argument is around having a sound financial footing. It is not good enough for LFC.

I hope that you do have the money to truly put LFC back to the top as you said you would, but from what I have seen I doubt you do. If you do, and are prepared to invest for the long term but achieve meaingful success now and not in 2, 3 or 5 years time, please go and get a proven manager and give them the budget that is required to make a difference.

The current approach wont work, if what you want is to win the big trophies. The squad is too long neglected to close the gap with average purchases. I say average when compared to who the top 3 purchase each transfer period.

Question, how many £25m+ purchases has LFC ever made? I don't know the exact values for Suarez and Torres so I suppose you could argue possibly 2. Compare that to Chelsea, City and Utd and you will see just how much of a gap there is.......We are nowhere near close enough to be able to compete throughout a full season and this gap will only continue to grow if you continue with the current plan.

The only thing you will achieve is loss of global following and as a result, merchandising and sponsorship income, from failing to qualify for the biggest club competition there is. This will continue to go from bad to worse year on year unless a radical change in strategy is made.

Ultimately only you can do anything about this, but this is our (the fans) club and ultimately our money which will dry up if things do not change.

It is now 3 years, how many more of under achievement and failing results will it take?

Yours sincerely

ConnorsLFC {Ed002's Note - It remains an absolute travesty and an embarrassment that some so called fans of the club continue to fail to appreciate the owners, what they have done for the club and the very significant amount of money they have invested in the club. Quite frankly the owners do not deserve these fans and, should they take the easy out of a floatation, there is every chance that you will truly have something to complain about.}

Disgraceful post!
What exactly have the owners not done for us? They have spent a fortune on players, is it their fault these players under perform? Is it not the manager who chooses the players? Did they not give 30 million plus every transfer window to spend? Its our club which has messed up, the owners cant be blamed. They have given their all, time for BR and the players to do justice to the investment.
Indian Buzzer

Ed002 we thank the owners for saving us but i think some one else was there for us we need fsg to take this serious {Ed002's Note - They are taking everything seriously. There is no question about that.}

Absolutely right Ed002.... ra1969

Ed02, I think you fail to see my point. I do fully appreciate what FSG have done and I fully understand that year on year losses that they have had to also absorb in order to just keep the club going. I do not underestimate that.

My point is that I want more for LFC and I want us to be winning titles not competing for a top caption position! I am simply pointing out that despite everything that FSG has contributed (which I accept is considerable) to try and turn this club around, it has not been anywhere near enough if you consider where we are as the indicator of success and I don't believe that this approach will deliver any other result either now or in 2, 3 or 5 years time.

I love our club and I don't accept anything less that to be number one as acceptable. FSG said they would win us the title but I just don't see how this approach can possibly deliver that. I am clearly not the only person who feels this way given the views I have seen for several weeks......

ConnorsLFC {Ed002's Note - Of the 11 clubs above Liverpool in the league only three spent more (net) this summer. Last season only two clubs in the EPL spent more than Liverpool. Year-on-year Liverpool are in the top 10 spending clubs world-wide. Would you like a nice sugar-daddy owner like Thaksin Shinawatra? How about Sheikh Al Thani? Or Sulaiman Al Fahim? Ken Bates has money in his pockets and will soon be wandering the streets looking for work - would he do? Liverpool has good and responsible owners who have been supportive of the managers. They made a couple of mistakes in appointing Comolli and giving Dalglish the full-time job, aside from that they have worked on the commercial streams and stadium, and worked to overcome the stupidity of on and off field antics that have been rather more than disruptive.}

Agree with ED

I think our friend is trying to tell our owners that in order to compete we need to buy "top" players.

I agree completely and have been saying this since day one. If Chelsea, Man U & City continue to buy quality (proven quality usually costs a lot of money) and we buy average, we will never see the Champions league, let alone the Premier League title again.

Crowsef.

Fully agree Ed. I'm embarrassed sometimes by the persons that follow my team. All they want is more and more money aimlessly pumped into the club but not to cover any of our losses, oh no, it has to be spent on players.

I'll say it again, but a lot of our problems are due to Dalglish. Had that £110m been spent wisely, the fans would be singing a very different tune.

But no one dare criticise the King...

Ash

Connors - truely regrettable.

Well said Ed 02 the so called fans that want instant success and berate the owners should just do one, they are an embarassment, we were poor today but that's football you can't win every game. We have played some great stuff this season and have been unlucky again that's football. half witted tripe posts constructed in idiotic knee jerk reaction to a bad result are really and truly embarassing,
I have a knee jerk reaction to reading carp posts from so called fans. My knee jerk reaction for all the haters and stirrers is for them to kindly f)&k off.

Inappropriate remarks from you.

Dude...pls wake up..
no top players will ever come to us seeing us in the table...i dont think u will join a company for work if its sinking no matter what history it has...
or pay him enough...like aguero, silva, hazzard, mata. oscar...

I think ed2's comments are a bit harsh there. He wasn't ranting and raving that the owners are cr*p, or throwing insults. He was simply saying that, in his opinion, we have been unable to afford to buy the 'top shelf' players that are needed to propel and keep you playing at the top of the league. His opinion is that unless we do, CL football won't come to us again, and we will be left in mid table. A vicious cycle, if you will.
To a point, I agree with him. However, knowing our financial restraints compared to city, united and Chelsea, I believe that it IS possible to have the best team without the best players - and this is what we will be having to do. Play better as a team against better players. If we do that, we will then start to be able to afford the best, and then we will find ouselves in an upward spiral.
I do think that BR will be able to get us there, we have outplayed most teams this term, just not out scored them. I feel once we get ourselves a striker (and am not bothered who, as long as he scores!), we will find ourselves on that upwards spiral. But we NEED that goal scorer, sooner rather than later.
Keep the faith. We don't need a sugar daddy owner. We will do it the way it should be done, through hard work and playing better than whoever we are playing against.

Nick

'Quite frankly the owners do not deserve these fans' Couldn't agree more! Singred

You forgot to add Abramovich to your list of the owners ed002! And yeah Chelsea don't "deserve" abramovich after what their fans have done recently! How about that?!? {Ed002's Note - Mr Abramovich has been at Chelsea for getting on for 10 years. Again this is nothing to do with Chelsea, I don't understand your obsession with them and you are making an embarrassment of yourself.}

ReNick response above, absolutey correct, I am not having a pop at anyone, just simply pointing out that we are not competing and I can't see how we will on this strategy.

I do sincerely hope your optimistic approach and comments around best team rather than individuals proves me wrong. I would like nothing more.

Having seen the stats today 24 shots, 14 on target, just need new players to come in and score goals, I believe we will start to put a good run of games together, Jan 2013 will be the start of better times ahead YNWA :)

Im sure someone said something similar last year

Last season it was 24 shots and 14 hitting the woodwork, so we are making progress...

We've got to stick with Brendan at least till the seasons finished, so lets get behind him and the team, and stop the pointless slagging off.

But for those who were endlessly bashing Kenny last season, its worth remembering that after 17 games we were in 6th place with 30 points and a plus 7 GD (and it was about to fall apart when we lost Suarez for 8 games, which knackered us).

This season after 17 games we're on 22pts with zero GD. And after tomorrow we could drop another couple of places.

Yes, let's stick behind Brendan and see out the season, but I hope the owners will think back to last season, and wonder whether Kenny really was that bad a manager?

In anybody's books kenny was a top manager but even still where we were was not good enough. Where we are now is not good enough.

Everybody knows we don't have the players and Brendan can't be blamed for individual errors. I like the football we are playing I think sometimes when we are so dominant some players switch off which will take time to stop.

It annoys me when people are already trying to replace our manager after each loss.

Rk

I am totally behind Rodgers but today wasn't acceptable.yeah it's great dominating the ball and having 20 odd shots on goal but I'm sick of the same stats game after game. I do expect improvement after a couple of signings but if it doesn't come and we are mid table come the end of season then forget this 2 year plan, he has to go. Saying that I'm confident he will turn it around.... Hopefully

Kenny was a superb manager in 1988 and a dreadful manager in 2012 , let's move on .

BR needs 3 full seasons. If he fails then, well fair enough.

Gutted with todays result, goals change games and Pepe did it again for me? "Poor goalkeeping for the opening goal" We were playing some really good stuff it was only a matter of time before we took the lead.
Then Benteke hits a shot that any half decent keeper would have saved with ease! Can't believe that Pepe's become that bad? But he has I'm afraid. Downing was out of position for the 2nd goal which was still hit straight at Pepe and he dived over it. It's been said before and I'll say it again, we don't just need a Goalscorer we also need a goalkeeper.

As long as Swansea take at least a point off of Spurs and West Ham take at least a point off of West Brom, we will have escaped an embarrassing defeat with only being one point further away from 4th place.

Got to look for any positive and that is about the only one I can see.

can i just say it is not just the players learning there trade. brendan rodgers is still a young manager learning his trade at a big club. he is going to make mistakes like everyone but on the way he will make correct decisions and i believe in him and his ways and think once he has jad a solid season behind him and a few transfer windows we will be well on our way ! BTW still 4th is up for grabs get through to jan still in contention (within 9 points ) and we cam still do it. #believe

Then why did FSG give him the job, If he is still learning he should be still at Swansea, big clubs don't put novices in charge as manager.

15 Dec 2012 17:05:12
West Ham were the better team for about 65 minutes last week and it was only the late injury that changed the game in our favour.
Today we were poor again.
Not blaming BR in any way.
It the players that need changing that are the problem.
Gerrard needed to have been dropped long before today and the fact he scored should not take away fro the fact how poor he was. He needs a spell on the bench.
Henderson looked good again when he came on.
Shelvey was poor.
Downing probably just about our best player which says it all really.
We are missing Enrique (never thought I would say that). The game changed against West Ham when he went off.
Suarez need to learn to play with his head up a bit more and stop being so selfish. Yes he is world class, but he does not need to score every single goal. he would get even more praise if he laid one on a plate for someone else every now and again. So many times he shoots from an impossible position when there is usually someone else either unmarked in in a position to score as the keeper won't get across in time.

anyone know how stevie mangaged to keep himself on the pitch today he was terrible when is suso gonna get a chance to show wat he can do in the att mid role today would have been the perfect chance to bring him on 15 mins to go no pressure because we clearly werent gona get anything from the game. not bashing brenden here im a big fan an being from northern ireland really want him to do well but think steive needs dropped for a few games.

Today was a setback for sure, and checked our optimism. We did look the better side for most of the game, and Villa took their goals well.

My only stick today is that Sterling always starts, even though he has become increasingly less effective.

Theres a lot more you can put on that list gerrard is playing very badly imo.Tommy Newry red

It's not going to get too much better unless we have a great transfer window.

We didn't look like we believed we would win, too many sloppy performances and some need resting or moving on.

Suarez needs to stop moaning and get on with the game and we need some goal-scorers and players who can beat a man and midfielders and attackers who can get in the box

There was nothing with suarez moaning we were denied a pen yet again.something has to be done about the refs

Here's a thought:

After 17 games under Hodgson we were in 9th place, and had 22 pts as we do now. And we all thought it was a disaster.

Fair enough, we were playing garbage football, but Roy got sacked for the pretty much the same results as Brendan has put in so far this season.

We can't sack him anyway until the season's out, but I do wonder how his future will look if we are still in 10th or 11th place at the end of the season.
And I must admit, I'm starting to wonder if that's what will happen.
But hopefully it will all come right in the New year.

He didnt start the season with mancity utd arsenal before he had a chance to settle into his style of football results will improve.Tommy Newry red

Suarez needs to be shifted out to the right wing. His purple patch of scoring goals is over. Time to give morgan or yesil a chance. Frm what i have seen, both finish off chances n r composed.
Sturridge as the only striker coming in wont be enough.
Indian Buzzer

You are clueless

Chris in Tamworth

U r the one who is clueless. Suarez is not a striker mate. He is a right sided forward. Thats where he has played all his life. Ajax, uruguay....
Sturridge if he comes shud start up front with suarez on the right n sterlng/assaidi on the left. Suarez's natural position is that of a wide forward, not a false nine. Can u plaz tell me from which position he scored over 80 goals for ajax?
Indian Buzzer

Seems you've proved yourself to be the clueless one as you don't know the difference between a right sided forward and a right winger.

Well, never count your chickens before those eggs hatch.
We truly are a mid table team.
One dimensional, and let's say 'very average'.
Pathetic performance.
Past results have been very flattering.

15 Dec 2012 17:15:30
bad game that rodgers didnt change tactics or formation once from were i and everyone else was sitting at least ten mins into the game you could see it needing changeing sorry but if he cant change it against villa hell never be the one yes there were errors but getting over run and split open like that there is gonna be also the attack to predictable too compact and still one striker all game you could throw a coat over lucas and allen god sake allen move up and complete a forward pass the bench is so poor in terms of options you have wisdom carra coates henderson cole and suso thats one defender not needed and one mid not needed why not ngoo morgan if kept in the country they give us the two upfront option which at three down you need and assaidi gives us more width poor managment and poor diplay all round red men be ashamed

Seriously, tell me your breakdown of what was wrong after 10 mins?

We had all the ball 2 clear chances and no threat to our back line, I really want you to replace BR if you can tell us the problems that sent us 3 down after that opening ten minutes.

15 Dec 2012 17:15:17
Man up and support your team. We just qualified for the next round of Europe, put several wins together but had a bad day today, draw a line under it and move on.

or alternately we could all just shout 'sack Rodgers, bring back Rafa!'

Rodgers is a good young manager with a vision for the future with this club.

Half of you lot are absolutely clueless. There are always good times and bad, today was bad but if we put some more wins together now we'll be right back on track.

It's a transitional phase. In Brendan I trust. Use your head and get behind the lads.

i really dont know about allen in the middle ......has he got what we need ? and yea i know he is young and learning

15 Dec 2012 17:06:03
We started very well totally dominated but was very wasteful (some brilliant play at times to make the space but the shots didn't do justice to the build up play) and we have paid for it. Villa took their chances (very well I must add) but they were totally against the run of play - and then we just run out of ideas.

Before the third goal - looks like a deffo pen for us against Agger but hey what a surprise play was waived on - no pen today again for us could have had a couple more pens - but hey we are Liverpool - no ref wants to be the first to give us a pen.

I have watched most of the matches this season - and to say we are not getting decisions is a bit of an understatement - I really think we are still being punished for last season and the Suarez - Evra business and the fact we didn't sell Suarez in the summer.

I really think there must something going on against us with the Prem League, the FA and the Referee Body - odds against us being this"Unlucky" with refereeing decisions over this period of time//games suggest that decisions are made before we even take to the pitch

Thats loser talk im afraid? we simply are not good enough end of.

Stop being soft, every team gets decisions for and against, not just you lot

duggo mufc

If we had swapped keepers with them? We probably would have won? The opening goal was a Pepe shocker again for me. Supposed World Class keepers save them all day!
kidmillions

Yeah unlucky cost dalglish his job...

To be fair I have never thought that Big Name clubs get the better end of reffing decisions, clubs like Man U and Arsenal usually end up with more penalties than everyone else simply because they're in the oppossing area more than anyone else, they get a lot of good appeals turned down as well. The thing is I think we're feeling that now, we're still a big name but playing like an upper mid-league team. We need our share of decisions these days to stay competitive.

WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP, so the f a and premier league are against liverpool? ok, if you say so

I agree, there must be something going on... i thought we just where unlucky at the beginning this year. but now, something is really fishy...

Stop with all the damn excuses already. We were just cr*p today.

What a pathetic, childish statement, how can any LFC fan think like that,
Unbelievable !!

The worst thing about our club are the majority of fans on this site. Really you lot are a joke. I would love all you fickle fans to go and support city. Just whiff off already. ynwa... I would rather walk by myself than with you bunch of whiners. At the end of the day I'll support my team no matter what. You lot calling for the head of our fourth manager in three years are an embarrassment. Go support Chelsea, you'll love their owner and the morals of their club.

Jm

Remind me again of our league position

Isn't it past your bedtime?

So u mean to say..we have a morale??
loosing game..getting out of top 10..
not in the CL from past 3 years..
you call this as progress and morale boosting...?

But he shouldn't have been appointed in the first place. There should have been more desire, ambition and a bigger target. He is not at fault for that, but that doesn't mean he is good enough or able to make the role a success.

I don't blame BR, and I am thankful to FSG for saving us as we really did nearly cease to exist. But, if they are not able to take us to where we were and where we are want to be, then surely we must all want change for the best?

That doesn't mean any of us want to support anyone else, what that means is that we want the team we adore to be successful and I for one just cannot see how that is going to happen with what we have seen over the last 3 years and with the current model.

ConnorsLFC

Why don't you go support city, how do you like that response?

And why shouldn't I say that to? You believe you have the right to say it anyone you believe does concur with your view, so fair been fair, I saying as I please to you, now go away and get yourself a Tevez shirt.

Sid

Is that you Brendan?

The worst thing about our club, are fans (like you) who have a real problem with reality.
Wake up man, get off that lithium, and embrace 'cold, stark reality'.
We have a manager who is just not good enough, or experienced enough.
Next manager please, this one is not good enough.

ConnorsLFC, plz prepare a list of billionaires who will be willing to buy our club. Send the list to Mr Henry, n we will see what happens. Atleast they dont wanna sell our best players like the Arsenal board. Take ur frustration out on BR n the headless chickens that is our frontline. We r two decent forwards away from being a very good team.

We lost the game, suck it up and move on to the next one.

Trust me no one wanted us to win more than me but aome of you need to grow up,

You want brendan out? Jokers seriously, no one would be soing a better job with this team

BR needs more time to build to squad into a team

Some of you are just plain awful "fans"

Shak Attack

Really! Erm how about dalglish? Believe he won a trophy and saved us from hodgson but then the record says rodgers is doing a fantastic job not

How much time actually BR needs??..or liverpool fc?
pls.i am aware rome took 100 years..
and alex took 8 years..

any other excuses pls?

Shak attack come on cant you see rogers is out of his depth im not sying get rid but can understand people wanting him out same record as hodg and dalglish was better of i no u surrport allen but for me he just isnt up to it dont no if he just needs time witch is wat i said bout carrol but at the mo he should not be in the first team he keeps plaaying sterling week in week out when clearly he is still not ready for all this football still needs time im sorry shack i like your coments and i do back any player or manager but there does come a time and with money to spend is rogers the right man to spend it because ince and sturridge would not make are first team a whole lot better yes the bench would be stroner but thats a bout it sorry for the rant cheers

And without Suarez that's exactly where we would be.
Spot on mate.

15 Dec 2012 17:03:12
Are we frustrated.....yes
Are we p......d off....yes

However you cannot deny we played well & battered Villa today. Its the same old story of us needing a striker, this will be resolved in January.

It Iirritates me when we say that we can push for 2nd.....we are a way of that yet. It always happens, we open our mouths & we get an awful result.

We will get there, however Rome wasnt built in a day. We have to be realistic and stop whining when things dont go our way. We are on the right track and we will have blips along the way, this being one.

Come on, stop slating us & start supporting us. We win, lose & draw together.

I have vowed to never speak a negative word about Liverpool. So instead I say, "when you walk through a storm hold your head up high and don't be afraid of the dark, at the end of the storm there's a golden sky and the sweet silver song of a lark." It was a tough game today, and we didn't play we'll by any stretch of the imagination. But I truely believe that we will be as proud as we have ever been by the end of the season. You'll never walk alone

LiverBird

Ah, the song from Carousel.
A toy/plaything of great amusement, that can only go 'around and around', in a process of mind numbing stupidity.
It serves no function but to amuse, and alleviate boredom and depression.
Yes, sing the little song, and dream of happier days, we all do anyway.

15 Dec 2012 17:02:35
BR cant do much more unless he sticks on a pair of boots himself and puts the ball in the net. Once again we started like a train and should have been out of sight by 30mins but for some wayward finishing, terrible decision making and brutal final balls. If any of those chances had been taking we would have won this game but once again we're caught on the break. If in 18 months time we're still not challenging then something needs to change. Rafa didn't always get us into the champions league or neither did KK so it aint that easy..MonaghanRed

BR can definitely do much more than put a left sided midfielder at full back.....

I dont know why he wants to prove everyday that he is a tactical genius when he is clearly not one....He could have played Johnson/Agger at LB but he went ahead and played Downing there....Why you will never know?...

I believe that Paul Lambert is definitely a better manager tactically than BR....That does not mean I feel BR should be replaced...He is a good young manager who needs to learn harsh lessons, one given to him by Paul Lambert today, that making radical personnel decisions are not good...

Many other managers like Hughton, Lambert, Laudraup are doing well with much lesser resources provided to BR...But then he has also done well in Europa League...So credit should be given where it is due....But since League is what Kenny Dalglish was judged on last season, today will go down as a LOST OPPRTUNITY.....

LiverBird

That is rubbish. He could stop playing Downing and Cole.

He could have insisted on not being left with only one recognised striker at the beginning of the season.

He could do the honourable thing and resign as I believe he is out of his depth.

CLFC

He could pack his bags, and 'walk away, alone'.
Maybe he should take some of those 'signings' with him.

I dont think we should think even remotely about sacking BR...He is our choice and we should give him a proper run and that would be two seasons....This is his first season...So he should have at least one more season before even thinking about any changes in the coaching staff....

i still feel strongly that Kenny should never have been replaced...Instead I was not sure about Kevin Keen as a coach...But these are pointless things now...

Coming back to BR, I believe that you should make do with what you have but he has made and wanted to do even more changes than should be the case....He has made far too many changes for my liking especially his treatment of the players bought under Kenny Dalglish....

Apart from Joe Allen, I dont think any player which BR has bought has had any impact whatsover be it Borini, Assaidi or Sahin (for whom we have paid a 5 mil loan fee including wages allegedly)

LiverBird

Hi Eds,

Is it just me or does anyone else think that the refs are so much against us, that it's not a coincident any more?
It feels like every ref is against us.
Im soooo frustrated. Ahhhhhhhh.

Can someone please cheer me up with some nice transfer rumours.

I had a suspicion that BR was just a chancer and its worrying but the reality is who the hell could we get?
Anyone who says "Benitez" or "Redknapp" will be ignored for their obvious lack of football knowledge

How someone who slates Benitez can suggest other people lack football knowledge is a complete joke. You're the one who lacks football knowledge and don't have a clue.

Benitez will probably win the World Club Championship for Chelsea tomorrow, while we have just been beaten by a team of Villa kids.

The best Manager in European football was left twddling his thumbs on the Wirral while the clueless FSG took a chance on someone who talks a good game a lot better than he can play one.

A Manager who knows what he is doing would never have put Cole on the pitch and Sterling would have been hooked long before the end.

redmersey

Is that the same Benitez that brought Liverpool to Two European Cup Finals in 3 years and finished 2nd in the league with 86 points which is the highest points total we got in the premiership years. Not to mention an FA Cup win........ur the one one with no football knowledge. Also name the best players in our team and then ask urself who brought them to the club.

N87

Benitez would have been a lot better than this and he would have come at the drop of a hat as he loves the club.

YOu clearly have no idea.

Lets just compare, a Spanish league champion twce over (on a budget at Valencia) and a Champs League winner who took LFC to within 3 points of winning the premiership only a short time ago, or a manager who only claim to success is to get a team promoted to the Premiership.

I know who I would choose...

CLFC

You are spot on mate.
He is all talk, no action.
His lack of experience, is as plain as the light of day.

We could have done a lot better (manager), there were some decent candidates considered.

What is apparent to me, is that inexperienced owners, appointed an inexperienced manager.

History will say and remember..
Benitez the last LFC manager to take us into CL

It does seem that you do not like joe allen. would i be correct?
robbie

Hey indian buzzer...
24 hours earlier you suggested...Allen is afine player, he needs time..and something more...

My name is harry from norway,..
from the day 1..i have said we wasted 15 mill+ 3 mill signing on fee on him..

Ed can check the IP...

If u read my previous posts, iv been extremely supportive of allem. But i think he needs to be benched to raise his performances. A spell on the sidelines every now n then keeps players on their toes, hence less bad performances.
Indian Buzzer

Allen, is never, ever good enough for LFC.

This legacy of poor player purchases continues.

Who is really running this 'Circus', its certainly more clowns than ring master.

Hey indian buzzer..
y odnt u accpet we wasted money on him..?
i am too from india and following liverpool from a long time..
he is usless...just accept it and move on mate...

15 Dec 2012 17:01:34
Bad result today, a mixture of being toothless upfront and poor at the back. I don't know why we have started using Cole over Suso or Assaidi (is he injured).

But even still we really should be scoring with the amount of chance's we created in the first 20 minutes.

It frustrates me to read everybody saying how bad we are doing after a loss albeit a hefty one. If we had 1 today would everybody be saying get Rodgers out?

I like Rodgers and think we can turn it around and I still think if other result's are ok for us we can push for 4/5th by the end of the season should we get in a couple of striker's in Jan.

Peace,
Rk

"Bad result" is an understatement

15 Dec 2012 16:59:40
What a f..king shambles that was, thats what happens when you play a highline and technically only have two defenders in the back row cos johnson is always in the final third might aswell play a propa RB in defence and push johnson up field and playin downing at LB when when have a perfectly good LB in jack robinson only reason i can think of in playing cole and downing is so there in the shop window

I believe rodgers will do a good job in the long run bt he need to buck his ideas up and have a plan B of playing cause possesion football just did not work today and we got caught out in the exact same way swansea did us in the capital one cup.

Rodgers gets a F-.
He is reallly, totally, utterly and undeniably "out of his depth"!.
No substitute for experience.

15 Dec 2012 16:59:36
All am gonna sat bad day..we could nd should have been 2-3 up in 10 minutes... I have said from last season....we need goal scorer....nd no way Cole should have been played....shocked nd sad but gotta move on ....whole tteam should take blame.. Rodgers needs to grow ball nd drop players who can't perform nd give youngsters a chance. .let's just look foe next week....

Go back, watch it again, count the number of times he beats his full back and delivers a ball that can be scored from. Then realise how stupid you sound.

Depends if he actually gets selected. Not much he can do if he doesn't play is there???

Firsr time in my life bugs bunny have lost against that fat man hu always traced him by guns, becouse looking after his crop, well to make it funny bugs ayre bunny always wins, but this time this fat guy is in in football bussiness wif better ideas, and hes making bugs ayre bunnie and liverpool a loughing stoke, ian ayre its a clueless person, he shudve bought benitez back than riskin from an unpruved manager, now shall i tell u somefing wif benitez in chelsea its make me feel, we r wery far from being wot we were at once, becouse i garanty u benitez wud never leave chelsea for this sinking loughin stoke, the chance we had in the summer and during already from bad result on rodger managment, we didnt ever consider replace him wif benitez wile he was available and surprise chelsea went ahead of us dispait hating him, and we shud be asking 4 him and kept our hope on this usless of rodger, ian bugs ayre bunnie and all the liverpool directors, they got it rong and its goin from bad to worst, and benitez is goin from woeld class to diferent level wif chelsea, and even fergy nows it.

Can we have that in ENGLISH please !

We have been poor. Not the first time this season, it feels as if we're going in the right direction but it comes to an abrupt end due to the players lacking composure in the final third(including Suarez). Sterlings heart was not in it today, didn't once see him beat a player. Get rid n start Suso instead! Gerrard was poor and looks like his best days are behind him, despite the goal. Missed Enrique and Joke Cole had a SHOCKER when coming on!

I'm struggling to process what I just watched, so much control, so many balls into their area. How the F**k did we end up with just 1 goal. How the F**k did a team that was basically 2 banks of 4 with extra help from the front pair score 3? It's a great victory for every nay-sayer in this room to gloat but I just can't understand how we played so well and got so little....

"If you can't support us when we draw or lose, don't support us when we win" - Bill Shankly.

Don't be a fickle everyday fan, stop being naive and negative, support your team. It's a transitional stage in our present, there is an idea that has to be made into reality. It's a blueprint to an amazing building that will last for many many years to come. There's a team in Spain that's built on the same philosophy as the great Liverpool sides of the past, you might of heard of them?

If we sacked Brendan then just think about what's out there in terms of replacements? Just have a think. The reason you're uncertain is because there is no-one. Plus, in reality, there is no 'big ready-made super manager' in the world who'd want the job. Stop living in a dream world and face that fact.

BR is a young manager who can go on and on in the game with us. Look at Ferguson. He started at United poorly, now, like it or not, he's got a club that has taken away our title of being the most successful club in England. They're constantly up there in the league too.

We always knew this first half of the season was going to be difficult with our failings in the summer window, but we've got to accept that it happened and move on and look to keep our heads up high. Then in the second half of the season, we can make something more. The owners will back us, the manager will get his players. Believe. If you want to know what we're capable of in a game of two-halves then remind yourself of a time where we were 3-0 down at half-time against a rampant Milan side. This January is our half-time.

Believe in your team, believe in your players, and for crying out loud believe in your manager. We are Liverpool Football Club and we do not give up.

Pretty yard when we are now a mid table team with no chance of a trophy.
Br did get rid of a striker and left us short plus the dire hes bought and the league position says it all really. The fans ateworried and rightly so

Dont be so naive rodgers is the problem.fsg gave him 30m and he wasted it on borini and allen

You're actually telling people to bottle their emotions and sentiments unless they happen to agree with your assessment. Support is NOT a be all and end all proposition. I will support LFC forever but don't dare tell me what I can and cannot feel. You need to accept that today we were awful in all aspects of our game and that has happened too often at Anfield this season! I'm not blaming BR or any individual players BUT they are ALL guilty of a complacent and benign approach to today's game. That's not withdrawing support that's telling the truth.

Rodgers has been in coaching and management for almost 20 years, he's not a novice at this you know.

Have you seen our goal difference? Over 17 games 0 gd - we've got better players than that...

The "Let's aim for a top two finish" was not a wise comment, but he can learn from that...

Other than that - I like the guy :-)

Yeah transitional stage ,im hearing that evry year ,idont care if we bought cavani, benzema, honda,&ogbonna in jan we,d still shoot ourselfs in the foot with this stupid possesion play , 6or7 passes at the BACK ,then side to side ,then to the midfield then get to there box & start it all over again ,no but its ok were in atransitional period AGAIN

But bill shankly never said..support your team when they play stuppid, buy stuppid...being out of CL..and loose consistently..
did he ever said such??

Thanks for the input so far guys, it's nice to see what others think. Obviously, I'm not condoning poor performances, nor am I saying that I'm perfectly fine with midtable mediocrity, like every fan I want to win 100% of the games, I want to see us smashing the ball in at all angles, but I think it's rather silly for people to be calling for our managers head.

To week in week out proclaim madness in the club, that's fickle. That's essentially being a Chelsea fan, and I think we all know what that means.

At least we didn't lose to Bradford ey? !

RedSpud

But this isnt the crappy cup, its the league, the place where you are judged

I should keep quiet if I were you - we're playing Mansfield in a couple of weeks

15 Dec 2012 17:10:19
I'm trying to be positive about today but this post is dumb, we didn't lose vs Bradford, we didn't get that far in the competition....

Arsenal had a full strength (or very near to full strength) side out and were playing a team in league 2 (not premier league, not championship, not even league one, but league 2!!).
We were playing a team in the same league (where pretty much any team can beat any other team on any given day) plus they are fighting for their lives.
We created enough chances to easily win, yet it was only scoring that was the problem.

15 Dec 2012 16:55:26
Carroll, Downing, Henderson, Adam, Allen & Borini = 100m+

Michu - 2.5m

Says it all really,

MikeyRed92

15 Dec 2012 17:06:16
Yeah Michu is a great big man with a jackhammer finish and good hold-up play - he's had half a season lighting up the EPL, perhaps we should sign him for 35M and expect the world?

Do you have do things like that, it makes me sigh! Sheeesh!

15 Dec 2012 16:55:22
Yes - we were complacent, the defending was sloppy, and give credit to Villa, who wanted the win more. We dominated play but again lacked that final finish. We had more shots on target, and the message to Rodgers is that we really need a striker who can put away all those chances. Bad day at the office; we'll come up stronger. 4th spot still up for grabs because teams will drop points. Keep the faith.

15 Dec 2012 16:55:16
Footballers should be paid on their performance. None of our players earned their wages to day. Maybe if we hit them where it hurts, theyll actually start playing properly.

15 Dec 2012 16:54:02
Why persist with Downing, Cole and Henderson when Shelvey, Assaidi and Suso are clearly superior?

Also have to feel that BR outwitted tactically today. Rafa wouldn't have been. Not saying I want Rafa back, more that BR needs a second game plan...what do they call it...oh yeah..plan B.

Ive asked this very question myself today, the only answer I can come up with is that we are trying to sell those players so we are playing them in order to attract buyers.

It's an incredibly flimsy excuse though because surely no manager would play bad players and cost the team points just to try and sell them?

15 Dec 2012 16:53:41
This is what happens when you leave our beloved club in the hand of jokers..This is probably the worst managerial efficiency crisis we have ever had in the history of the club ..you may not have enough nerve or ability to manage a big club but atleast hodgson was not a self portraying overconfident crap clueless about the game..nothing in defense, even worse in the box and this person thinks tom ince would take us to top2 ..
all we do is keep the ball and do ******* nothing and dream of silky smooth tiki taka like barca where the kids learn to play that way from 6 or 7 ..

And Sir, Who Are You?...Bill Shankly!

Villa had what 6 shots on target with 3 goals...Liverpool had more than 23 shots...You cant have shots on goal with side and backward passing..clearly we played well but with a very disappointing result..doesn't mean we have gone backwards..one who thinks so must be watching different match..Oh! please moaners..you are not the one we need at this time...we need true supporters..

Indian with Red Heart

I think Spain or Barca could play the long ball and still be successful!

Quality throughout the team.

15 Dec 2012 16:51:14
And cue the sack BR comments .....

Remember what was said after the opening day, we must expect one or two shock results (that are poor). We are a work in progress and those who expect us to be up challenging for the Top 4 need to realise what situation we are really in. We have a young, inexperienced and thin squad and to expect us to win consistently like 4/5 years ago is unrealistic. This year's table is probably the closest at this stage for many years, so a couple of wins on the bounce will take teams up 6/7 places. If we have patience and back the players and the manager, we'll reap the rewards in the future.

I am surprised by the constant bashing on this site from fans. I'm not sure on the ages of you all on here but a lot of the time you act like 8 year olds, I would like to think that the majority on here have the patience to support the manage. Hope you all have a safe Christmas and New Year.

Hans

Remember we are liverpool we aim high pal... irish kopitie..

So what happens if we finish the season forth from bottom? Would you still back the manager? Our league position will show the realism of our transfer targets. Who would want to go to a club who face relegation?. I agree in supporting the manager but its pretty hard when he buys dire and we look at draws against lower opposition. One season in the epl doesnt mean he is ready for a big club with high expectations. U your wrong

In answer to your question about if we finish fourth bottom would i support the manger. My answer is a resounding yes. I take it you wouldn't and don't now but i'm sure if we beat Fulham and Stoke in our next two you'd be quick to praise the manager.

Hans

We are mid table team.managed by mid table manager who does not have guts to take off his 15M dud allen.who he keeps playing.
Request to FSG do not give a penny to spend to BR. He will buy players like borini and allen again.

GET RAFA in summer.

15 Dec 2012 16:50:15
Just proves that sometimes you need a plan B as everything we have tried today hasn't come off . Benteke has been outstanding for villa skrtyle and Agger couldn't handle him . They have defended well when needed and had an option to hoof it clear with benteke playing so well he was holding play up till he gets support . We dont have that our strikers turn with the ball and run at defenders but it wasnt working and was just coming back at yhe defenders . Oh well you can't win them all . Bring on fulham .

I just cannot figure this Liverpool team out. We are losing 3-1 in a game we have absolutely dominated from the first min. This seems to be the same story every wk. Its clear we dont create enough good chances. My only gripe is that every Liverpool fan will admit that we boss games only for the other team to get 1 chance and score therefore Reina is been asked to save one or two chances a game and more often than not he doesnt, I think he has become a weak link for us this season.

Everyone moaning about team selection - today's starting eleven is the best we have - bottom line they are not good enough period.

15 Dec 2012 16:48:22
Before the game today and after the West Ham win everyone was singing BR and the teams praises, the plastic fans saying get rid of BR are a joke...yes a 3-0 win against villa is shocking but how the majority of posts can suddenly change is ridiculous.

This is a long term vision it will take time but within five years with one of the best young managers and great young players coming through, owners implementing a strategy in order to keep the club sustainable and ultimately profitable we, the fans will consequently be the most prosperous as long as we are patient.

We are Liverpool the most loyal and knowledgable fans. We win together we lose together that is what remains constant. YNWA

15 Dec 2012 16:42:57
Shocking performance but we cannot sack Rodgers due to this result. Rodgers is doing a great job of the youth team, he's tied down Suarez, Skrtel and inevitably Sterling down to new contracts. He's doing the best he can with Hodgsons and Kennys deadwood and a very thin squad. We're just screaming out for a goalscorer. This is only our second loss in eleven games. And getting rid of Rodgers now would only put us back even further. Have to say though we just cannot defend like this. Still think Rodgers is the man for us

He certainly knows how to make it hard for himself, will be some awkward interviews coming his way now, after the finishing second comment!

A goalscorer is not the only thing we are lacking..Even if we got cavani or falcao we would still be struggling to get top 4 or even top 6 .. This formation alone is a disaster , we are not compact defensively , not enough players in the box , cannot counterattack fast enough, at deadball situations we are so average..
As a top manager once said the mentality of the players are more important than their quality sometimes ..

If Kk is saint as a manager...

i am away on holiday and checked the score .....my first reaction was great we are 3-0 up. Then when I looked at the scorers I realised that it is Villa who are actually ahead by 3 goals. BR has to take trhe blame, wrong team selection and bad defensive tactics

And you know all this by checking the score...

Piledriver

What defensive tactic did rodgers use?

KUMBER

15 Dec 2012 17:02:11
How could you possibly blame Rogers if you didn't even watch the game,? Leem Downing played well believe it or not we started exceptionally we failed to take our chances and Villa broke on a Suarez back heel attempt 22 yard strike a joe cole error and quite simply a good footballing goal, you have the nerve to post that with not even seeing anything of the game? Leem

How do you know what his tactics were? You just said that you weren't watching until it was already 3-0 and now you're on here apportioning blame? You're the joke my friend.

Mantis

I have been at Anfield and seen us being taken apart by a swift counter attack many times this season and the third goal according to bbc online commentary was a classic example. You lot can blindly back the manager but me, I give credit where it is due and when the time comes I will be critical too.

15 Dec 2012 16:42:17
Downing has had an ok game today but is still naff and needs to go. Every time i see him cross a ball, it hits an opposition player. Sterling needs to learn a new approach too as he just runs into players with the ball all the time.

Cole is jarg and needs to be sold as well. Stevie G is half the player he was.

We desperately need the owners to recognise our weaknesses and dig deep this January.

Downing was our best player imo today and he was good against westham aswell. why would you want him out?
today was never gonna be our day every thing from the ref to the bounce went aganst us, we could have had ronaldo, messi and pele up to and still would not have scored any more.
time to pick ourself up, dust down and look to the next game.

15 Dec 2012 16:41:49
Things we need to realise/address are;

1) The players (with only one or two exceptions) are just not doing enough and in a lot of cases are incapable of doing enough
2) Agger and Skrtel are amongst the best defenders in the league in my opinion, therefore there has to be a problem in the system (the defenders see far too much of the ball in possession) playing the ball around the back just gives the other team chance to put you under pressure.
3) I am not saying Rodgers should go, but he needs to show the balls to drop Stevie, and keep his trap shut, nothing like putting players under pressure with over expectation. He also needs to realise his system just isn't working. The play needs to be more direct and less "tippy tappy" around the defenders. Get the ball in the opposition half then start passing it around!

El Diablo!

Would you rather pep guardiola or big sam if both were available?

We concede far to many goals,to have any chance of a top 4 finish, and what has BR done about this? ZIP!! That's what, and that's why he has to go!

People slate Kenny for his transfer dealings but can Brendan only attract players he has previous links with. He's taking us further backwards. Kenny should've been given another season.

U cant blame Rodgers for this performance. Its not his fault the frontline play like little girls. They shud take a leaf outa Man utd strikeforce's book. So confident n composed unlike us. N im tired of seeing suarez play as striker, but we dont have a choice.

ozone normally i don't agree with your points, no disrespect intended however this one i totally agree with i'm not saying sack rodgers but last year even though we had downing and henderson playing we did way better than we are doing this year. We may play nicer football but i can remember we used to have nearly 30 shots and more on target in each game and all we needed is a great striker. This season we need another player to create chances aswell as a striker. Rodgers brought in allen who i like but i also believe that henderson could do exactly the same thing but be more of a threat to opposition. Kenny was thinking of bringing in diame on a free transfer aswell as muniain and susaeta according to Macca now i'm sure we would have got top four with that and more goals....

I will give BR all the support in the world but he has to help liverpool fans to give him support by bringing in the right players.

disgusted by today's scoreline but we have to move on. Also i'm going to repeat myself but before we slate hendo and downing, they played constantly last season and we were doing better than we are at this point, so stop the hating, they are not the best we could have but calling them deadwood is utterly disrespectful and everyone should think again.

KingMiz

My transfer targets would be isco who would be about 15 mil euro's if i remember correctly about what ed002 said and walcott/tomer hemed (mallorca)

I think people mis read what BR said, he must have said bottom 2 finish, and everyone though we will achieve top 2 finish, BR was honest as its clear with today's results, I started liking him, but then it's not entire his fault,

I always used to say bring back RAFA BENITEZ but can't say now I wish we had brought him back in summer,

Unless FIFA change the rule and start giving 2 points for higher possession, BR is not going to make us great at all, it's my thinking and I hope I am wrong at the end of season,

How can villa beat us 3-0 at home? Very strange

15 Dec 2012 16:34:32
Carroll 35 million
Downing 20 million

15 Dec 2012 16:33:41
The Rodgers era is not going well. We are becoming a laughing stock. And we are easy targets for being laughed at due to our glorious past. We are a semi rich Americans plaything. They are not interested in the real fan, you know the ones who are hurting badly in these days. Rodgers is a decent guy So I wouldn't want to knock him. But a club like Liverpool need a proven manager, not a vastly inexperienced one. The system he is developing is nice to watch but not as nice as watching a win no-matter how we get that win. Look we've made a mistake. Both owners and management not to mention many players have to go.

Honestly I no longer understand how much worse we can get. I've not been a bleeding heart turncoat but this is one step too far. BR needs to adjust his ideology because Aston Villa has had an answer for every single thing we've come up with today and what's worse is they've given us a lesson in finishing. I now give up in total despair. I'm not asking for anyone to be sacked...just horses for courses really because as it is we're the wrong horse on the wrong course!

I don't really think if we had had any more strikers on the pitch that we would have scored. unfortunately its the players responsibility to win games and no lfc players seem capable of doing it. that is my view and most wont agree.

No way would LFC lose 0-3 at home to someone like Villa if Rafa was in charge.

embarrasing. I don't care about the possession stats, I don't care about the pretty passing football (which in most cases is sideways or backwards), ultimately it will win nothing as we are already seeing.

I believe we have gone backwards, not forwards. Wake up and smell the coffee.

FSG don't have the money is takes to compete. BR doesn't have the ability or knowledge. FACT.

Ultimately I am likely to get persons saying it takes time etc etc.....Well, lets see at the end of the season, and if needs be, next season as well because this team, playing style and manager is b*******.

We have absolutely no end product. None. There is absolutely nothing wrong with our play. Those of you slating Brendan are either blind or just plain stupid, we've dominated Villa, absolutely played them everywhere, the difference? They took their chances, we just don't know how to score, its more than a problem, its a curse. Brendan's biggest issue was never going to be to get the team playing the way he wants, it was always going to be whether or not our team can score, and at the moment hes only half proved it.

I still stand by Brendan, and will continue to do this, but we badly, badly need someone who can finish.

oh dear not much a manager can do if his players do not take responsibility. time to wake up boys and become men, the collective have failed BR today badly. mind you could be the lesson they need and please BR have the balls to drop the skipper!

15 Dec 2012 16:22:25
Hodgeson Kenny and Rodgers have ruined our club and put us back 20 years behind the rest. And it all started wen we sold Torres like it or not. We've gone from having Gerard masch and Alonso to and old slow Gerard allen and Lucas. Absolute tosh our team now should boo them after this. Money grabbing lazy passionless girls

Mate dont blame rodgers he only inherated this time he didnt create it kenny partly to blame considering how much investment he spent n failed but its been on the downfall since one man left and it aint torres mr alonso

15 Dec 2012 16:20:59
Top 2 haha give me some of what brendons on please. this result is disgraceful the worst villa team in years and theyre turning us over in our own back yard. whatever happened to the fortress that was anfield. Great to hear our fans still singing and trying to push us on we need a christmas miracle yo get anything out of this game.

NEred

Rodgers is full of rhetoric. It's painful to listen too and I'll guarantee the person says he's pleased with the way we played in his post match interview.

We were a disgrace last week to be fair, no balance to the team, and not looking like we knew what we were doing. Hit and run luck last week. The result okay was on the cards.

Ozone

Am sure he meant bottom 2 been watching it on line but had enough after 2 down, reality comes knocking the door here .

15 Dec 2012 16:20:53
Didn't Villa play a few day's ago in the League up ?

15 Dec 2012 16:20:44
It's going to take something special to come back from here!

We've managed to string a few results together and thats all I've seen / heard this week are people expecting an easy result. 3 -0 or 5 -0!

I've been guilty of it in the passed but complacency looks like a big factor in our team.

We simply aren't good enough to scare teams any more. Teams are coming to anfield and playing without fear. 0 - 3 down to Villa shows exactly where we are at.

Stick behind the team through thick and thin, good times are ahead but Brendan needs to quit the PR talk. Really has set himself up for a big fall this week!

15 Dec 2012 16:20:38
Pathetic, possibly the most embarrassing scoreline of our season and there has been plenty to choose from. Pass, pass, pass with no end product. Not convinced by Rogers and his tactics at all. Will be amazed if he is still here this time next year.

15 Dec 2012 16:19:56
Absolutely shocking.

If BR continues, we will be.....

Firsr time in my life bugs bunny have lost against that fat man hu always traced him by guns, becouse looking after his crop, well to make it funny bugs ayre bunny always wins, but this time this fat guy is in in football bussiness wif better ideas, and hes making bugs ayre bunnie and liverpool a loughing stoke, ian ayre its a clueless person, he shudve bought benitez back than riskin from an unpruved manager, now shall i tell u somefing wif benitez in chelsea its make me feel, we r wery far from being wot we were at once, becouse i garanty u benitez wud never leave chelsea for this sinking loughin stoke, the chance we had in the summer and during already from bad result on rodger managment, we didnt ever consider replace him wif benitez wile he was available and surprise chelsea went ahead of us dispait hating him, and we shud be asking 4 him and kept our hope on this usless of rodger, ian bugs ayre bunnie and all the liverpool directors, they got it rong and its goin from bad to worst, and benitez is goin from woeld class to diferent level wif chelsea, and even fergy nows it

15M question to eds and reds.what does allen do for us?
He can't score.

He can't defend.

He does not create enough. 15M?
And he plays even after being awful.

Dont wanna sound doom and gloom lads but really heads must roll now and that includes brendan rogers..

15 Dec 2012 16:11:47
Pure garbage another spoilt weekend what has happened?
Reina could well be sold and Brendan Rodgers needs to be cute in the transfer maket two players who know where the space is between the posts!!

Callum McKenna (keeping faith but serious problems)

15 Dec 2012 16:11:21
Well Brendan how about next time you pick our team best on the best players and stop thinking about putting players in the shop window, cole and downing have no future at liverpool so dont play them utter tripe. We are a Joke

N87

Sorry but the only question in that original team line up you could question was LB position, what would you have done?
John A

Fair point but Downing was one of the best players today, says a lot about how bad the rest of the team played.

We where playing against a team 17th in the league that have played poorly all season and we where at Anfield whilst apparently in a good run of from with a manager talking about top 2 so with such confidance in the team why not avoid the LB problem and go 3 at the back and play an attacking team with the intention of punishing villa?

N87

15 Dec 2012 16:02:04
People are going on about how we need a striker and we miss too many chances but there is a much bigger issue that has gone unnoticed...we are conceding far too many goals.

It is not because we were missing lucas...it is because we commit far too many players forward unneccesarily.

We were 1-0 down after half an hour and we committed men forward as if it was the last 5 mins of the game.

This is a common problem with all of Rodgers' teams...defensively fragile and prone to counter attacks by the opposition.

There is no reason to push so many players forward, its not necessary especially in the first half when its 0-0 or even 0-1.

Im not sure if its the way we set up or the coaching or the positional play of our midfielders but we always look like conceding, every time the opposition attacks I never feel confident.

It is not strikers that are the problem its the amount of goals we are leaking, its the worst defensive record I can remember from a liverpool teams in many years.

15 Dec 2012 16:09:39
This won't last forever. Someone will buy this club bring us a great manager, provide money for great players and bring massive stability onto the pitch. It won't last.

To be honest I had time for Redgers before the "We're going for top two"... the team have belived their own hype today... Rodgers, that was not the right thing to say...

I still feel sorry for Pacman.

Scared to sign off am sorry for you mate and the other blind fansi raised all these points yesterday but everybody called me names..villa come to anfield and play like they are above us in the league..allen is rubbish,no pacman you are a muppet allen is class..we are 4points off top4 all that crap..what excuse do you all have today

PACMAN

We had a bad day even barcelona can lose to celtic.

15 Dec 2012 16:03:34
just awful ,no but rodgers will still be happy ,weve got more possesion than them,,**** sake wake up you watch when we kick off this second half we,ll have 2r3 passes & reina will have it,instead of gonen forward

15 Dec 2012 16:03:26
90+ mins in a game,Liverpool to win this game, c'mon you lot get behind the boys YNWA ;)

15 Dec 2012 16:02:21
Are any of you posters even watching the game? We have dominated and been by far the better team. We have been so unlucky we could easily be 5-0 up!

Poor supporters!

The only thing I agree with is we need a clinical finisher to finish off all these chances.

RAH

But what is the score?

Frankly, I dn't give a rubbish about the possession or if's or buts....only the score matters.......

15 Dec 2012 16:01:52
Pathetic again.

15 Dec 2012 16:01:14
We are certainly in second place today!

Rodgers what a muppet!
Sad fact is FSG cant afford the taxi

15 Dec 2012 16:01:09
No wonder we're frustrated, no way should we be losing this game. Villa will sit back now and defend so it's going to be very difficult. I don't blame the manager because the football is good, it's so good in fact that we should have been three up before they got anywhere near our goal. This is all about the players c###ing everything thing up on their own, how can you legislate for someone as good as suarez not being able to complete a simple five yard pass to gerrard which would probably have opened the scoring? if we don't get anything out of this it's going to be a very embarrassing night.

15 Dec 2012 16:00:45
Sterling has 0 end product he's quick but doesn't offer enough

15 Dec 2012 16:00:37

I support Br and i m not saying its his fault but he should try looking at different player cole and downing

15 dec 2012 15:59:34
shoot for the stars! aim for second and we could get 4th!
rodgers team starting to push on! winnable xmas fixtures!

wake up!

rodgers is a snake oil salesman we are in a mess!
we are part of the mid table. we will be lucky to finish top 10. we win a few games and loads of you fall on your knees and hail rodgers! he is no better or worse than hodgson.

we got lucky against hammers! and scrapped past a udinesse with nothing to play for. so keep the faith in rodgers but heres a prediction he will be sacked this year or next having failed to win a trophy or secure a top 4 finish.

pass and lose the liverpool groove

15 Dec 2012 15:56:25
What a joke we are at anfield now

15 Dec 2012 15:55:54
Im just hoping that this will be reversed to a draw or a win, so that at the end of the match, I can look at the clueless people at half time.

Piledriver

Can you really see that happening now?

15 Dec 2012 15:54:46

15 Dec 2012 15:55:45
Stop getting your nappies in a twist ya bunch of whiners.

What about now?

0 - 3 This is disgusting! Aiming for top 2? Maybe Brendan should stop the Talking and get on with Managing the team!

With your attitude Shanks wouldnt have worked his ass off to make LFC the best! If you dont see us sliding to mediocrity then you dont get it!

I didn't say things were good, it's people's whiney attitudes which annoy me. Grow up

We,re lfc supporters we,re allowed to voice our opinions ..br should concentrate on managing not spouting were going for top two after a couple of good results hes an embarrasment the being liverpool show made him look a right tosser with the huge pic of himself in his living room then the envelope incident it seems hes after self promotion all the time he should keep quiet and do his job ...spout off at end of season if we ve achieved ought.

15 Dec 2012 15:55:44
On the upside..... Downing is playing well. We could actually get someone to give us money for him!

15 Dec 2012 15:53:14
The commentator summed it up perfectly at the end

All that possession, all those chances,
Nothing to show for it.
Brendan now is where you earn your money half time, you have to get it right we need to score the first goal (somehow) not gonna slate anyone, I think the players know they were not good enough defensively. fingers crossed second half improves for us in front of goal. and we can force a win.

KoPeNdFaN

15 Dec 2012 15:52:54
I've been watching Allen and giving him time before I made my assessment
I don't think he's going to be good enough
I always think its a really bad idea to buy a player off the back of one good season as they very often go backwards

15 Dec 2012 15:51:55
Good to see people relishing that we're 2-0 down.

"Yay! I can hammer Rodgers now! I had to shut up for a couple of weeks, but now I can go at it again!"

15 Dec 2012 15:51:52
2 shots 2 goals. Same every week. Can we please get rid of Reina now - he is clearly uselss.

Sir Derek

Not having the game on here mate, were both goals down to pepe then?

When was the last time any of you actually remember Reina making a decent save?

He has contributed f all as far as I'm concerned and the same goes for Allen.

How ever I still believe BR is the right man for the job and it will come eventually. We can't go changing our managers every time we have a bad result because we will just keep going backwards.

15 Dec 2012 15:50:16

15 Dec 2012 15:48:17
we have got the two most overated youngsters in sterling and shelvey. both are very poor

Its not they are overrated its just they need time to find consistency .sterling needs needs experience not a first team starter yet

Sterling yes on the consistency but Shelvey makes me cringe every time he gets the ball. All heart little talent wasn't good enough for Spearing.

15 Dec 2012 15:48:02

15 Dec 2012 15:47:58
This is for all u know it alls, by zeus, i know the kid is playing well, but y is shelvey playing ? Suso is a better fit with Suarez, the deffence is too tight, we neeed technical players like Assaidi.

This if for the Eds , Y did we let Carrol go if in each game were gona hit more than 5 crosses ? Why ?
I really dont understand.

Ciah

15 Dec 2012 15:47:48

an absolute joke. game over, same old story. rubbish. another 3 points going to be dropped against a team near the relegation zone. what a joke this whole team has become. its going to be another long and embarrassing year. what a joke.

15 Dec 2012 15:46:39
So the '4 points from 4th spot' comments can stop now. We are not going to get 4th spot...not in a million years. We can only play for a draw now that its 2-0. Gerrard is just consistently poor but he carries on playing? he can clearly take a long distance shot but he opts to play it to sterling who just loses the ball. Where getting schooled on how to score goals. If rogers doesnt bring in anyone in jan with quality then i wont be so pro rogers anymore. why is shelvey playing as a winger. He has no agility whats so ever. Assaidi is in the squad but he never plays him. Sahin would do a much better job than gerrard. I cant believe we've become such a mediocre club.

15 Dec 2012 15:43:01
PUT THE BALL IN THE ******* NET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

15 Dec 2012 15:42:16
2nd spot eh Brendan?

15 Dec 2012 15:41:46

15 Dec 2012 15:44:00
2-0 down against villa bottom half of table pretty much all season if this was Hodgson we would be calling for him to get sacked so why are fans so patient with Rodgers

Because in this game I have seen movements that are brilliant.

We are not that far away, it is just our decision making in the final 3rd that needs improving.

B101

I totally agree ...yes we play good football but where is the end result?

I don't trust Rodgers to move us on he is a fantasist...

Rodgers out!

Don't think you can blame Rodgers for this.....players need to take responsibility.

Typical doom and gloom. Not over yet. Hodgson got sacked cause we were the worst we had ever been and he didn't stand up to fergie on the tele. There is definite improvement and a plan under Rodgers. Just hope that if we win you come back and apologise. Typical no name.

Gazza

Because no manager can be responsible for errors, it was'nt tactics that cost the 2 goals

Its half time lad. i bet you would been one of the ones who left at half time in Istanbul.

Why do this allways happen to us....

15 Dec 2012 15:34:34
Wow! I have really enjoyed this game! Before all the doom sayers get in, we are dominating this game. In the first 10 minutes, if downings cross or suarez's short pass to gerrard was spot on we would be ahead. downing is having a blinder and johnson has been immense recently in his role on the right. i have faith we will win this one!

all player errors..not the manager..

then 1 chance...1 goal by villa......

and people wonder why lfc supporters get frustrated every week!!

Make that 0-2, liverpool to win 3-2 :) get your money on it

Typical, all of the f**k ups in front of goal and they get one chance and take it.

15 Dec 2012 15:26:01
Sterling is utter sh**e. No way on earth is this kid worth us haggling over, fine if you don't agree I don't care but watch him in this game and he will get a lot more wrong than right. Also don't give me but he's just a kid nonsense, if your in the first team then your good enough.

Not a fan either mate- i mean he's ok but no more than that. i'd bit wenger's hand off for a trade with walcott.

1 thing that'll stick with me for a long long time, (and don't hit back with, but he's only 17 he will learn) was that overhit simple simple return pass under no pressure against swansea away where luis would have been in on goal, only to send him off in the direction of the corner flag.. criminal, just criminal.

15 Dec 2012 15:22:34
Its almost like suarez makes all the other liverpool players look r*******. Gerrard is currently the worst player in the starting 11 IMO. Completely lost it and he needs top be dropped. Sahin would do a better job

15 Dec 2012 15:52:34
Cos Sahin's played sooooo well for us.

Suarez misses so many easy chances. if he scored a third of the chances created we would'nt be in the situation we are now.Another sitter missed at 0-0

Eds or fans not a rumour just a question does Rodgers not rate assaidi he never plays him! You can't get used to the prem if your no even on the bench doesn't make sense to me thought we had a real gem on our hands

A

I agree mate, but from a bigger perspective you have to see that we've had a pretty good run recently (bar the Tottenham result), so the phrase 'don't fix what isn't broken' springs to mind - would be nice to see him play though, even just to give Sterling a rest.

hey guys...

REALLY hope downing does not play left back today
and we play robinson...

or johnson left back and wisdom right....

defensively...in terms of AWARENESS AND TACTICS...it will be the better option

red lobster

Totally agree mate. Should be wisdom right back and glen left back. It won't be though. That 20m waste of space will play again.

Im suprised people were disagreeing.....

It looks like he is playing. Let's hope he has an outstanding game against his old team. Always happens! (Let's hope anyway!)

Nick

I think in a way (only my opinion) BR is trying to play Downing to try get managers looking at him to try sell the guy. Whos gonna try buy a player when he doesn't play.
But anyway i agree, i would have either robo or glen on left and have wisdom or either flanno or kelly when they get back from injury.
P.S is flanno still injured ?

Don't know about the line up today, but hoping Henderson has some sort of involvment. I like the player think he has something about him, probably not everybody's type pf player. But for me he's getting better and seems to really want to succeed at the club. If the talent is there and he has the determination he can become a top player for us. Probably get slaughtered for that comment but I think he's played himself into the managers thoughts by his display and obviously his training that we don't see. Maybe BR sees something and he has a important part to play over the coming years. So go for it kid you have my support.

Owen

Owen - I agree about Henderson - and don't say 'probably get slaughtered for this' - who cares what other posters think - just give YOUR opinion

Why are people worrying about sterling signing a new contract. Have yous all forgot his tweet that he was made to take down.. 'I've just woken up to this rubbish. I can assure you I've not asked for that stupid amount, we're waiting till I'm 18 to sign.'

I'm confident as I can't think of any reason for him to leave. The only thing he may get more of playing somewhere else is money.

Well I may be proven wrong but I don't think sturridge is the answer to our striking problems..his club stats are 137app,37goals and 15assists doesn't look prolific to me..even if age is on his side doesn't mean he would turn out the way. we want him..I rather we loan him with an option to buy, than splash the cash on a chelsea reject.as for tom ince he is a very good young player, but he isn't what we need right now we need experience upfront not young players this guys should be squad players not players who should take on our goalscoring burden let's say suarez is injured then we have borini-sturridge-sterling/ince upfront. this attack would struggle to win games..things turning out better is my hope but am not so confident with the. Type of players coming in.

Keep Calm and Dance Gangnam Style

He has a better goals to games ratio than Valencia whos considered world class by most.

Alot of those appearances were subs too

We need more goals from midfield and the wings...sturridge will score goals

Shak Attack

Valencia and sturridge are both different types of players not a very good example. mate..with the goal ratio you keep talking about..valencia is by far a better player than sturridge shark attack

to the person liverpool fan who said united have bought the league...

all the money we spend on players come from money we have generated through the club...not some money of a sugar daddy..

Glad to see you haven't commented on the fact that you bought the league, just about where the money came from.

Feel like charing abit.

For the first time in a long time i feel very safe going into the window, seeing the linkings i know BR will find the players needed to get the system to the next level of play.
BR's idea's are really starting to show thrue the team and when they do its really good to watch.
And i prefer starting on a low and steady raise up, too starting of like a rocket and then sink like a stone.

2-0 today, YNWA.

So we are getting Ince back, and everyone is saying he is good, UTD are after him and all that.
Strange how UTD were after Henderson which forced us to spend big, he is england U21 captain and has now broken into the full side.
I suppose Ince will come back and now he has made a name for himself, if he doesn't perform brilliantly straight away we will slag him off. How many Kids like Henderson and Lucas are we going to invest in and when they dont play great from the start slag them off ??
If Henderson was playing in his best position in a good championship side like Ince has been, the press would be raving about him.
As the team has begun to get use to the new style and has started to improve, who has looked the better player, Sahin or Henderson?

15 Dec 2012 10:25:23
If Cole can put in good performances in the games he's playing, I would have him ahead of Sterling because he has an eye for goal.

With rodgers 'aiming for top two' is there any chance of a big signing in the next month? If so who?

BR aiming for top 2?

Should that not be top 20?

No he definitely said top 2. I think it's more to do with aiming higher, so if you don't quite achieve that then the fall-back option is still good (eg 3rd or 4th).
Quite easy to work out really when you actually think about it.

15 Dec 2012 10:16:39
I would love someone to explain why Daniel Sturridge, is a good signing ?!?!?!?
He has played for 3 Prem. clubs & scored very few goals & at the 2 top teams he played for (Chelsea & City) he hardly ever plays - even when Chelsea are struggling for goals they don't turn to Sturridge BUT we are willing to pay a reasonably high price for him & expect a goal scorer ?!?!?!
There must be better options out there? Walcott is a far better player, ability, attitude & re sale value + will probably cost less than Sturridge.
I just can't see Sturride being the answer ?
Can anyone disagree ?

15 Dec 2012 11:23:17
The reason he doesn't get a game at Chelsea is simple. Torres cost £50 million,Hazard cost £30,Mata £20 and i'm not too sure about Oscar.
He's got £120 millions worth of talent keeping him out of the side(he has also been injured). He wouldn't have that problem here.
Likewise its quite the same with Man City, not many would make that side.
Bolton he did very well at. I don't think £12 million is a huge gamble for us,he's young, fairly pacy and would have a decent sell on value.
He's not going to be the messiah, but he is a decent player and will increase competition.
WelshBoyDave

Hey welshboy..if he was that good like you say he is then at least he would be on the bench..a new manager comes in and he still doesnt make the bench..what does that tell you??

Reality is we have limited funds and we are far better off wasting 12 million on a young player who most people are writing off before he has even kicked a ball. I hope Sturrage signs for us and goes on to bag 15-20 goals this season. Remember at least this player has a sell on value, it's about time we start understanding we are a business and the clubs is in far better hands today, well done FSG

15 Dec 2012 09:59:03
What's the problem with re-signing Ince?

He was shipped out because he made unreasonable demands as a Youth player and his dad was advising him.
They are both egomaniacs.
So Tom was show the door. Hopefully he has learned some humility at Blackpool and comes back as a more mature reasonable human being.
Good on him if he has. He wouldn't be targeted if he was the same player/person who left for buttons.

This is random but United always go on about citeh/chelsea buying the league, but do they not remember they basically bought the prem, but then of course they won't because they all started supporting them after they won that title, because they're glory hunters too just what they slag citeh and chelsea fan for. Funny isn't it

Taggart has broke the British transfer record more times than any other manager I think it may have even been 6 times in the first 5 years

I'm pretty sure that the current United squad cost more than the City squad.

Outgoing sponsorship department Head Bruce Bundrant hails the growing commercial strength of the Liverpool FC

Bundrant, who joined Liverpool in April 2008, ran the sponsorship department and the pre-season tours to the Far East and North America.he had spent 4 years at the club. he is now joined the ambitious french outfit Monaco FC

Bundrant Quoted to Echo""I had a terrific time at Liverpool," he said. "There are some really smart, ambitious people working there who want to see the club do well.

"We managed to grow the business a great deal. When I arrived the club had six sponsors and when I left we had 24. During that period we had a 400% increase in sponsorship revenues. We went from having one member of staff to 12 when I left.

"It was a pretty difficult time economically but that didn't really hurt us because the brand is so strong internationally. There's always more room for growth but I felt that the first stage had been done and it was time to move on as i have good opportunity at Monaco FC as Commercial Director."

Shows how strong with come on behind the scenes and how far we fell behind and how slow we were to catch on to the commercial side 6 sponsors is shocking and 1 person going it all.

asking all fans goin match 2day as i am, to really get behind sterling, we want him2 sign, if he dont sign, after us all true reds sing and shout bout him today- then it hurts but let him go, we paid 4 him nurtured him, but no one is bigger than my club, and plus we are chasing champions league- how much of a boost that will be,if he signs, scouser exiled in manchester trying to make as many babies i can just cos were taking over

Man we have been behind him all the way and if he dont sign so what hes not what we need at our club

He should be bench if all he wants is money! i dont think he will get more game time anywhere else. Good luck to him if he goes no1 is bigger that LFC

Jeez he has only just turned 18, leave the kid alone. How can you possibly be calling him a money grabber unnamed poster above? If he doesn't sign it is because fans are jumping up and down calling him a money grabber.

If Sturridge isn't good enough for Chelsea then why is he good enough for us? I'd save the kitty and buy properly in the summer when we will have more options.

Gazman

Perhaps because Chelsea are light years ahead of Liverpool in pretty much every dept, only player they would take would be Suarez I'd wager...... And I'm a neutral .

Superabundance

Our whole defence is better than Chelseas (A.Cole maybe, but he is ageing and Enrique is playing very well).

I agree with Superabundance stop this silly belief that Liverpool are the best club in England we are not plain in simple we've been mid table for the past 3 seasons! Sturridge is a good option and hes better then what we have now.

TurkishLad

We are the best club we do not have to win things to be the best ynwa

To super abundance. Chelsea maybe light years ahead of Liverpool in event way accept one really. Liverpool ar a massive club. Chelsea are a little club with a rich owner.

I think they'd have Johnson back and Reina for back up...

It's nothing to do with who's got the best team etc etc.
Players suit certain styles of play.
eg: Carroll (Newcastle v Liverpool)

So IF Rodgers signs Sturridge, it would suggest he thinks he will suit out style of play.
Don't forget Chavski have a crazy dictator as an owner who sacks people for fun and you pick who he wants you to pick.
Not the easiest place in the world to develop as a young player.

We are in a similar position to where Barcelona were 10 or so

Surely agger n skrtel r better than cahill n luiz? I mean the chelsea centre halves r a mistake waiting to happen. How many top clubs wanted those two? On the other hand, barca, real, napoli n man city held interest in skrtel n agger. says it all.
Indian Buzzer

Wasn't mascherano playing in west ham reserves before we signed him?

Chelsea didn't look light years ahead of Liverpool at Stamford bridge last month. In fact, Liverpool should've nicked it. The point is - it looks like Liverpool are interested in Sturridge, who for me, doesn't look that great. I never said Liverpool where the best club either (although they are)

Gazman

I hate to tell u this but Liverpool are no longer a 'massive club' anymore, the support worldwide is starting to decline, in a few more years the support from abroad will decrease massively .... U can't keep living in the past, yes you have a good history, but that's all it is.... Its like saying Nottingham forest are a massive club cos they used to win things.... Now Liverpool are just a midrange premiership club, same as Newcastle, villa and everton.... History counts for diddly!

Superabundance

Or whole back line are better bar cole. Suarez and lucas would easily walk into there team so thats 5 plauers out of 11 hardly light years ahead. Support has delined a bit but not alot but there are 2 cl spots up for grabs i can see us being back there n next couple of years so there wont be a massive decline. Liverpool v man utd is still 1 of the most watched games for a reason

Superabundance, seriously come up with something new. I'm sick and tired of all you persons saying we're all 'deluded and living in the past'. No, we're not. We know the situation, we're just quietly confident we'll climb back up. Nothing about the past. Maybe if you stopped jumping on the bloody bandwagon and spouting the same rubbish as other clubs' fans and actually spoke to a few of us Liverpool supporters you'd see how we actually feel. Sick and tired of us LFC fans being tarnished with this image. Just narrow minded fools from other clubs who don't have the mental capacity to think past the old 'deluded' statement.

JFT 96

Jft 96

Where did I once use the word deluded in any of my posts - and if Liverpool fans didn't constantly go on about how MASSIVE they were and how they DESERVE this n that then other people wouldn't have to re-iterate this point...... As a matter of fact a lot of my friends are Liverpool fans , they are just considerably less touchy then u seem to be!

Regardless of who sold Ince, the fact of the matter is this. Rodgers wants to sign him and he is the manager left with the task of rebuilding our great club. I like the fact that he is aiming higher than 4th but I think 2nd is raising the bar to high this season. I hope that he proves me wrong on that though.
Rodgers is the manager for us
Scouse_Pride

Well,if you try for 2nd and fail we could get 4th............if you try for 4th you will probably end up 6th...........

REDBOY

Aim for the stars and you may end up on the moon.

Id aim for 8th,but we might surprise ourselves and get 7th! We have beaten a few weak teams and now we are on a roll! Dont make me laugh. We are now an established mid table team.

RWF: Jeffren Suarez - on loan with view to buy (instead of Sturridge)
ST: Theo Walcott £7m

15 Dec 2012 03:04:09
Whats the big deal if we let ince go? Sterling's opportunities would have been restricted had we kept him. Now that he has developed as a player we buy him back . Big deal . Instead of making them compete against one another and getting in each others way progress of both players was achieved . Good for both lads , good for football and if Ince signs and turns out to be a success then good for liverpool as well.

Regarding the possibility of loaning ince -> you never how it would have worked . I mean what is the guarantee that he would have got to work with the same team.

Sanjit.

Good post, would definately add competition, also potentially we would have a right footed winger playing left wing and left footed playing right (if they played together).

Could work out well.

Hey eds and liverpool fans,i see all the links with ince and sturridge and everyone complaining but i for 1 trust rogers, hes worked with young players all his career and he knows a good young player when he sees one.
I think if sturridge gets his attitude right could be a quality player,at chelsea he doesnt really get much of a look in but look what he did at bolton,i think he scored 8 goals in 12 games, most of them were tap ins but thats what we are missing, rogers likes him cos he can also play accross the front line anywhere! If he gets his attitude right i would definately prefer sturridge to huntelar!
A front 3 of sterling suarez and sturridge would give any defence trouble, also a back up of suso, assaidi, borini and ince is pretty impressive!
Anyways great site eds, keep up the good work!
cheers
