On a lighter note Gaston Ramirez is from a place call fray bentos!!

Yeeees it's where fray bentos corned beef comes from. That's why it's called fray bentos corned beef.

Isn't bento also the portuguese coach. of course nani likes playing for him

Watching the big man and gerrard tonight filled me with joy.
I can't help but think about what Kenny would've done given another season. Strategically very strong a great thinker and I think we'll reap the benefits in the near future.
Unfortunately for us he wasn't so great tactically.
It would have been interesting to see who he bought in this summer, especially if it was players like Walcott and elm.
Anyways. Boring. This is my first post.
Here's to next season. About time we had a goodun.

Hi eds. Great site

Just wanna know what your preference is when it comes to sigurdson or elm I personally think elm is a very classy operater do we have a chance of signing him

Cheers ronny the red
{Ed002's Note - I am sure others have a view.}

Sigardson every day of the week plus is much younger and has potential to be world class

Elm in my opinion would not improve us.

Plus he is prem proven and will play in the same role he perfected at swansea

Elm if we are looking for a playmaker. Sigurdsson is we are looking for a goal scoring midfielder.both are needed.
AnfieldUSA

Oezil or Ramirez if we want top 4. But we skint so will get 1 of those 2.

Much younger?
Elm 23
Sigurðsson 22

Sigurdsson because elm's ugly.

Elm is doink!

I'm amazed at why so many people want to see Rooney put straight back in the side. Based on what?

Chris in Tamworth

Probably because he's the best striker England have.

BJH YNWA

Lol, Chris man, you have appalling taste in strikers.
Banging the drum for Defoe and Bent, and having a pop at Rooney and Andy Carroll.
Stick to fly fishing mate. Haha.
The Real KB

Rooney
Out of the other 15 teams in the euros he's only ever scored against 4 of them and only against 2 in a competitive match (Russia and Croatia I think)
Only scored 3 goals in 3 years for England
Hasn't scored in a tournament for England since 2004

Oh yeah he's definitely our best option! I see it all now!

Chris in Tamworth {Ed016's Note - Don't be so silly Chris. How does Rooneys form in 2004 equate to what he can do today? In that case, Michael Owen is still a world class player.........see where I am going. Rooney had a fantastic season. He has had more rest than a lot of players so far this tournament. It completely makes sense to play him. He is one of our best players and you can not argue that. As long as his attitude stays positive.}

On the subject of the Roonmeister, I wonder if his new hairpiece is guaranteed against Ukranian thunderstorms ?
The Real KB

Agree Chris.. He's just a bit of muscle with the occasional goal.. Just another heskey but twice as ugly..

Myk

Peter Crouch? Why is that man not there? With his record he deserves at least the subs bench surely?

Other than that, I'd pick Carrol over a cheating thug like Rooney anyday of the week.

Tristan

Ed016 did you actually bother to read my post? Where did I suggest his 2004 form was relevant? On the contrary if he had the form from 2004 he would be my first pick. Do you see where I am going? As for his brilliant season is that the 27 goal season where he scored 12 penalties? Meaning he scored 15 from open play as the main, supposed world class striker, for the defending champions?
Ever wondered why Ferguson has either bought or tried to buy at least one striker in every single transfer window since Rooney signed?
He is the emperors new clothes, the media have created this falsehood and the feeble of mind don't bother to actually watch and draw their own conclusions based on what they see rather than what the commentators say they should be seeing.

Chris in Tamworth

Easy:

Hart
Johnson Terry Lescott Baines
Gerrard Parker
Young Rooney Welbeck
Carroll

Maybe Walcott for Young. Milner was terrible.

Rooney is excellent. I'm not sure the correct position exists for him tho.

Agree he is overrated, but still the best english CF. Welbeck overrated too, but prob better than Bent an Defoe. Carroll and Rooney would work well me thinks.

Of all the strikers england have, i think only rooney can make something out of nothing. maybe defoe as well, since he kinda just smashes it from far sometimes. but id say rooney is important for england.

Kaizer

Irrespective of his footballing talents, Rooney is a simpleton and a thug. They way he attacked that player from behind was a criminal offence as far as I am concerned.

I dont care how 'good' he is, he should not even be allowed to wear the England shirt again. Football is not always about winning, sometimes it is about class....and Rooney doesnt have any personal class.

After all who on earth would walk around with a dead squirells tail stuck on his head ? His latest haircut is even worse than the Mereiles one.... sad little boy

Tel 1949

At last somebody sees what i see just an arrogant p###k fuelled by the media and a traitor to the scouse cause to boot

I'm no always on side with Chris, but I'm with him 100% on this. And I know I am in the minority. But he's not that great. He has been built up so high by the press, people dare not see him for wha he is - ok, and nothing more. He goes missing too often nowadays, his touch is sometimes good, often poor. Personally, I'd start him on the bench keep Carroll and Wellbeck, as I think they deserve it. Leaving him on the bench at the start will hopefully give him a point to prove later on in the tournament.

I know from past experience of not thinking Rooney is so great that I will get berated, but I honestly think that Andy will be better.

Nick.

So frustration made him kick out at a player, I remember a certain Shearer stamping on a Leicester player did you scream ban him from England, probably not. Clouded sight methinks, Rooney is a skillfull player, who can open up opponents, he will be picked so get over it, got to be better than Young at least.

Rooney is a liability. For every great piece of skill there is more than enough acts of thuggery. We can't guarantee that he'll be on the pitch at the end of the 90 mins. Carroll all the way!!

Rooney scored 27 PL goals this season, how many did Carroll score ?

I would start Carroll over Rooney.
But I can see carroll losing his place to him, rather unfairly as I think he was one of our better players.
England were awful again and tactically poor, but at least we had andy getting on the end of some of the many hundered long balls.
I would start andy and Rooney but I see wellbeck getting started because he plays with Rooney at united and that will be the excuse.

MIKEY

Thats like saying I would start Adam over Messi

I have never seen messi play as a central midfielder, so yes I would start Adam.

Evening eds fellow reds . Just watched game thought it was steady , but like to credit big andy work hard all game good finish for his goal great ball by Stevie ,hope andy carroll continues to improve starting to look a. Top all round player now well done boys . Cheers psv

I agree, he had a good match, played well, I just do not think he will fit into our new playing philosophy, which is a shame, but I prefer the way we are expected to play next season to the lumping it up to a big center forward type play.

Red4Ever

I think carroll won more tackles than parker. he was great at helping the midfield. i thought his goal was unbelievable too.

It was a silly free kick he gave away though for their first goal

just being devils advocate at minute( im actually a huge fan of br).

fsg, are spinning and we love their spin.

while top euro clubs are spending to compete (psg,real madrid,barca,juve,utd,chelsea,city) we are focused on wage reduction.

under h&g one huge failure was the inability to fund the new stadium which a couple of years ago we all said was the much needed game changer. now after 2 years of activity fsg are preparing us for a scaled down anfield face lift.

fsg have appointed rodgers who has 1 years experience in the premier league and never won a trophy, yet we are told he is the best man the "number 1 target"

surely reduction of debt was a term of sale and not the rescue fsg hail it.

as a global brand we are bigger than psg or malaga yet they end up with mega rich owners and we end up implementing cost cutting drives.

fsg so far have failed in recruitment. they gave damien the job and kenny who then went out and wasted millions now we are told the funds are limited. was fsgs plan that 1 big transfer window would set the foundation of success? if you answer any point answer me that one.

just playing devils advocate, i like bendan i know some good stuff is happening behind the scenes im just not ready to get j w henry on the back of my kit just yet still need to be fully convinced by fsgs vision.

And when the f.f.p rules kick in we will be away and running while they make excuses and try not to get fines and banned from competitions as there f***ed. just believe in them and you might be pleasently surprised.
huddz red

There's nothing wrong with needing to be convinced whilst showing full support. The reality is we won't see the full fruits of their labour for years, especially with it being tied into the financial fair play. If they can get their house in order now they'll be able to spend well when the ffp kicks in, while other sugar daddy clubs suffer.
Also, I don't believe John Henry was talking about scaling down the anfield build, he was explaining why a new stadium isn't financially viable or constructive for the club. the anfield build would be much better but is far from straight forward. It is looking hopeful but complex and has to be a benefit for the city and not just the club.
They can subset some of the build with commercial revenue from global markets, which wouldn't touch the cost of a new build, hence an investor for that option. That in itself will get complex, and difficult to agree terms all parties would be happy with.

Hope that helps, and makes sense - it is late and I'm tired :-)

SCF27

FFP rules? You must be having a laugh! Rangers have sent their accounts in for years and UEFA couldnt see what was going on or care! So what makes you believe FFP will be policed correctly. The big boys will set up their own super league if FFP constrains them and we will be left with the hedge funders telling us prudence in the little league is best.

I have disagreed with some of your post, and I will endeavour to explain why. Damien Commoli is very good at selling himself, hence look at his former clubs, and he convinced the FSG board, who at that time where not that experienced in football, that e was an indispensable part of what was needed to run a football club. They saw through this and when they did, they took him out of the equation. Kenny, as much as I love him for all he has done for us, was never really FSG's appointment, but their attempt to appease the fans that was calling for his appointment. It did not work, we went backwards, and they changed it as soon as possible. Now we have to give them support. They have employed BR as a man who wants his teams to play to a certain philosophy, so experience is irrelevant. Bill Shankly was an experienced top flight manager before he took the reins. Give FSG and BR the time to build what the vision of where we want to be. If in 18 months, maybe 2 years they have failed then criticize. He did not once state that we would not have a new stadium, he stated that all possibilities were being looked into, and not to expect instant revenue from a new bigger stadium. He is not in any way laying false hopes, and I for one, after the last regime, welcome that. We have to spend x amount on the next big player is not relevant either, because if that player does not fit into the philosophy that BR wants us to play, they wont ever be enough for us. I would be pleased with some world class signings as much as the next man, but I would prefer to watch players willing to die for the shirt than someone here just for the cash. BR is assembling a backroom staff that will help us in the future, but we will have to be patient and let them do their jobs first. Lets not get negative before a ball is kicked in anger, that may be how other clubs fans are, but not us. We have more intellect and knowledge about the game to be drawn into that sort of thing.

Kudos to the EDs for their support and time in giving us a forum we can be proud of.

Red4Ever
{Ed002's Note -

Talking about the F.P rules, when you have supporters that believe in nonsense like this which i found further down the page then what chance do have? Some people just want to moan and talking sense with some supporters is impossible.

''Fair Play Rules will have no impact. If a few of the top teams are threatened with sanctions after breaking them they will threaten a breakaway league and that will be the end of that.''

Can you believe someone actually wrote such cr*p, some league that will be with 2 or 3 teams in it LOL

MR EM

Im with the guy who scoffed at the ffp ules europe's biggest clubs will break away and form a euro super league so they can avoid stuff like ffp's they wont have thier buisness restricted by ffps 5years euro super league mark my words

''Im with the guy who scoffed at the ffp ules''

So we have to mark your words do we? How many teams do you think would do this and under which governing body would they play under? They would not be allowed into the CL so they would only be able to compete in their own competitions and where would they play? If only 1or 2 teams from each country joined can you see away fans wanting to travel abroad every other game? Think first and stop talking cr*p!

MR EM

The G8 group of teams would soon form their own league, and tbh, if those teams left the cl to form a large European league with only top teams in it, then those teams would make so much money that it would make the cl obsolete. I dont for one second want this, just stating what the bigger teams can do if they do not agree with FIFA.

Red4Ever {Ed002's Note - It is not the G8 teams per se but you have captured the great fear that UEFA has.

Without going in to too much detail: (a) A number of clubs take the opportunity a once or twice a year to discuss various issues including changes in rules, television rights, the power of UEFA, exploitation issues for new technology streams, etc.. These discussions, the last of which were on August 25 last year and the next will again be in August this year, also always turn to the possibility and structure of a breakaway pan European league. Several are ex-G14 clubs, several are not, and some clubs decline involvement in such discussions. (b) The plan is that at some point a number of clubs would break away from their national leagues and UEFA. They accept that they would be banned from all existing club competition and the players would initially be banned from all FIFA competitions as well, but know that FIFA would be looking to negotiate in any case. It would be the end of UEFA in all probability and UEFA are very aware of this. It would also result in a restructuring of many of the national leagues. (c) The clubs would renegotiate their television rights, rights of distribution via other streams etc.. (d) It remains the greatest fear of UEFA and all major national authorities that one day this will happen.}

Thank you ed002 and unnamed poster for so eloquently putting into words that which was beyond me tonight lol, and that is not sarcasm or narky just heartfelt thanks, I am not in a position atm to make what I wish to say clear and concise for the reading masses ;)

Red4Ever

"If only 1or 2 teams from each country joined can you see away fans wanting to travel abroad every other game?"

Why would the home team care if there were away fans or not? In the US, it is not uncommon for a professional team to play another team that is 2000 miles away. There are no (or at least very, very few) away fans. I honestly don't see why this would make any difference whatsoever as I'm pretty sure we (as an example) would have no problem selling out Anfield every game with no (or very few) away fans present.

I've always said that there is not a force on earth that would cause me to pass in my support for my club. But this would surely do it!
If my club became involved in something that would do so much damage to the game as a whole, they would lose my support in a second! Like a cheating wife!

Just as no player is bigger than their club, no club is bigger than the game.

Until we find a sugar daddy we will never fight for the league regularly or cl. Simple.

Listen to Ed002, don't worry about FFP. Money talks, we r skint.

The supposed breakaway gets talked about like it could happen in an instance. The logistical and financial implications are massive. The ffp will take hold, at least to some degree, well before a breakaway league could be formed. Assuming it ever is. Fan unrest can't be ignored either for any club serious.
Speak to anyone at the clubs that have already had discussions and you'll find they are far from convinced of its viability.

SCF27

To the poster who said 'no club is bigger than the game' - well no-one seems to be saying that. They will still be playing football won't they? BY the way I am not advocating a breakaway European league I am in two minds about that at the moment. No, such a league would just be a natural extension of what we have now - football clubs as businesses looking always to maximise their earning potential.You may not like that but the ship has long since sailed

Macca, any chance of Sturridge, Belhanda or Afellay? And please tell me we aren't signing Kalou or Tello.

Tello has the potential to be world class you obviously haven't seen him play

He never said anything about tello's ability. You obviously don't know how to read.
AnfieldUSA

Sure he doesn't want us to sign Tello cause he thinks he has great ability. Right AnfieldUSA. Maybe he can't read but he has a brain to think.

He could have very well thought about the arsenal and cesc fabregas's episode. Arsenal did all the work, only to recieve nothing. I don't want us to have to go through that, maybe the original poster does not either. Let's try and think deeply before we go and post something about someone not have a brain. Good luck next time.
AnfieldUSA

Idc what he means anyone who says please tell me we arent signing tello needs to wake up

16 Jun 2012 19:19:36
Anfield USA,

Arsenal got £25m for Fabregas - as well as years of great performances. With add-ons they potentially stand to make £35m.

Good luck next time. Remember now, think deeply.

BJH YNWA (You're welcome, unnamed poster.)

I'm not saying cesc wasn't any good. I'm not saying tello is bad. Both are and we're superb players. You tell me the "bjh", would you rather have tello for 3 years Untill he moves back to barca for 20m or wait 2 years and allow sterling to play for 10 years of great performances.
You have no dog in this argument. And remember now, think deeply.
Goodluck next time.

Is there any intrest in walcott ed? I mean he just played quality we must be linked with a move he is Liverpool bound surely??

Don't know why Walcott gets so much flak. He isn't the worst around. I would take him to LFC personally. Maybe just a little fragile.

15 Jun 2012 22:32:09
Ed 002 understand you dont want to talk about south american players were linked with, is there anywhere worth looking that might have some reliable info on that subject outof interest?
RNred {Ed002's Note - I really don't know RNred. I spent a couple of ours discussing the subject with scouting staff in the United States last week. It is not like I stumbled over the inrmation on the BBC web site.}

Point taken, as you can imagine its quite difficult to find anything out without those links (not helped by being hundreds of miles out at sea).

Lol @ed002

If only it was a yacht.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves, we are NOT the attraction we used to be, more a cup team now we are so far adrift of the top 5 or so. It will be a long hard journey back so lets stop talking about the worlds top players joining us just yet.

Any chance of us getting the England coach
as our next manager? He's even got Carroll
scoring goals?

15 Jun 2012 22:16:48
How good was Steve Gerrard !!!

Random Red...

He was too deep in defense
Parker was too far forward
they need to switch.

One good cross for Carroll? He is half the player he was and seems to have lost his shot. Also ambles around the field too much and doesn't look fit.

Or did u watch another game?

No Forrest Gump!
You were watching a different match he was excellent. Even more so given he had to play a more defensive roll.

If your going to try be a wum at least start with the truth

You would benefit from more schooling.

Im goin to attempt to translate, lol.

Give it a rest with Carroll and give the lad a chance, and LFC will benefit from his talents, well done England, great goals from Andy, Theo and Welbeck, bit of Barnsey (John Barnes) in that finish, lol, Stevie is the man, what a fantastic cross? lol

Carb

Yes, we will benefit if Woy comes back as manager to play longball stuff all game.

15 Jun 2012 22:05:17
Im hoping for Andy Carroll and Wayne Rooney combination against Ukraine, but i have a feeling that Roy will go for Welbeck and Rooney.

Welbeck is overrated.

How bad is Carroll so far apart from his goal?

Anonymous gibberish nonsense

The Squirrel

He was brilliant worked so hard for the team defended like a champ too. people just wish to see the worst in him for some reason.

He was excellent. His link up play was fine, he scored a goal. His only problem is he tries to hard. He shouldnt feel the need to have to get back in and make tackles, because lets be fair he sucks at it...But thats why he doesnt play centre back.

Jigglypoof

How bad was wellbeck apart from his goal. How bad was young apart from.......actually, he was just poor.
Thought Andy was really good. Won everything directed at him and hit nearly all his targets. Don't understand this post.

The post is just a wind up from a manc or bitter, who have nothing constructive to say on their own clubs page.

15 Jun 2012 21:04:39
have lfc shown any interest in james milner. seems like he doest play as often as he maybe should at city and lfc could offer first team football due to his versability and with his technical ability and crossing he would suite our style of play especially if we keep big andy up top. any chance eds and what would be the expected fee? {Ed002's Note - By tomorrow it will be someone else.}

Milner can't cross for toffee every cross is the same we want someone who can put it on andys head

How the hump is milner still getting into the team?

All the posts about andy Carroll scoring have 1 disagree each. Is Redturk back on?

MIKEY

MIKEY it will be him lurking in the background waiting for any positive post about andy carroll so he can disagree with it or make a snidey unsigned comment lol

Hmm actually it wasn't me, and im not the type to deny the truth. if he played well i will agree, which i think he did look better then usual. i still would say he don't suit our style and certainly won't suit rodgers style.RedTurk

Red turk for once mate i dont often agree with you but iv been thinking the same myself i hope he fits i suppose he's young enough to learn but he struggled learning a new system last year don't know if he could handle to system changes in 2 year only time will tell here's hoping

15 Jun 2012 20:51:03
Hopefully Andy Carroll bangs in a couple of more goals during the tournament, It could maybe get a bit of interest in him, I doubt we'll get anywhere near the 35m we spent on him but with a good tournament we could probably get 15-20m

Jamie

If he starts banging in the goals I would rather have him at Liverpool than anywhere else mate.

MIKEY

Why do you want to sell him, you nutter.

Sooty

Well done lad - support your players - or go elsewhere, Anfield doesn't need you.

Or a good tourny builds his confidence and he becomes a monster for us!
Red Greco

Hopefully mate

Whats the lad got to do to shut some of you idiots up?

Cut his hair, gain another yard, work on his ball skills and make more intelligent runs. Also dfoesnt seem to be in the box enough during the game. Looks like he wants JT's position when Rooney comes back.

How's that for a start? Lol

To disagree with the quality of Andys goal demonstrates that over 40% of people on here are definitely NOT LFC supporters.... therefore take it all with a pinch of salt.....most of them are surely kids or saddos

Anyone else worried by these latest comments from JH?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18461597

Sounds like we might not build a new stadium OR expand Anfield....

Jimbo77

He is hinting at a clear Anfield redevelopment, How are you NOT reading this?

Its also in the F**KING title...

The title is written by the BBC. The words that came out of JH's mouth were:

"Building new or refurbishing Anfield is going to lead to an increase from £40m of match-day revenue to perhaps £60-70m if you don't factor in debt service.

"That would certainly help but it's just one component of LFC's long-term fortunes.

"Our future is based not on a stadium issue but on building a strong football club that can compete with anyone in Europe. This will be principally driven financially by our commercial strengths globally."

Notice how I also said 'might' not take either option.

Judging by the number of Disagrees, I guess I'm in the minority to be worried - and perhaps just read too much into it.

I read it 3 times by the way, and it could be interpreted in different ways - there is no need to patronise me.

I don't really know why FSG bought us, it's just a constant cop out reminiscent of Hicks & Gillett. Why didn't Moores sell to DIC in the first place. It feels like once again we have owners with little money and no idea how to lead us to the top.

Hessle Red {Ed002's Note - I imagine seeinbg what the fans are like they are regretting putting enormous amounts of money in to the club.}

Do some research, they have an abundance of money. The fact that they aren't speeding billions like Chelsea or man city should tell you that they are more concerned with the financial stability of the club for the long term rather than the trophy cabinet for the short term. Get some perspective.

Ed002 your comment about seeing what the fans are like is out of order as we the fans are not mugs and you being a chelsea fan are talking this way because you are luky to have the owner you have , we all have opinions and the majority of lfc fans that i know see the lack of commitment as a sign that they will be out as quick as they can because they know already that the chips are stacked against them with regards to finance and they need to improve things for their first love the red sox as you know being from the usa ,. red mick tag {Ed002's Note - Reading the posts and you will see what the "fans" are really like. One player after another trashed if Liverpool don't win. Posts wanting the manager out. Numerous posts wanting the owners out. What do you think the owners would think to see post after post saying they are not wanted, they have not spent enough, etc.. I think you need to look rather closer to home for someone to complain about than me.}

I take your point with your comments ed002 but after the nightmare we went through with H+G we are very untrusting why did it cost 50million pounds for a stadium that has not been started etc , yes i know fans talk a lot of rubbish , i do some times but some times we the fans hit the nail on the head. well done for your commitment to the site ed002 .red mick tag {Ed002's Note - Thanks Mick. The £50M (although £38M rings a bell) covered design, architects, fees to utilities, legal fees and planning and is high in my view as well. These figures were known when the bought the club of course. Losses for the season just gone will be similar so the suffering won't ease for a while. I have no doubts that the owners have an exit plan if the club becomes any more of a money pit, but I am confident that they have the best interests of the club at heart and they are responsible.}

Ed002 now i know what you have to put up with we used to have the most knowledgeable fans in the world long gone are those days its a shame because it was a bragging right of ours dear oh dear

Ed 002 is completely right. 'fans' already trashing BR for not doing enough, questioning FSG's ability to run the club despite these same so called 'fans' beig absolutely clueless about the limits of our club both on and off the pitch. The majority of the people who post on these sites are toxic little wretches who have a problem with everyone at the club because they feel they can do a better job because they got Woking promoted in football manager. These people are out of touch, ignorant, rude to the eds and macca and frankly should go away and support some obscure Russian team with a billionaire owner so they can't find any reasons to Moan.

HI ED002,the only way were going to compete with the big teams is if we compete financially, if FSG haven't got funds to compete then they need to get out, you can't spend a few bob one season and then the next season say narrr we want to do it a different way, FSG knew when they bought the club that we needed a new ground and to
get us back to the top you need to spend in this league MONEY is KING it's no coincidence that the teams who occupy the top 3 places are the teams who invest regularly, and yes ARSENAL do invest, for FSG read RANDY LERNER, you can't I'll say it again you can't compete for the PREMIERSHIP if you don't regularly invest....ANY VIEWS....

auntie annie.... {Ed002's Note - tinyurl.com/2vfws74 rather defeats your whole point for the past five years. Sorry.}

Ed002, I think you have a point. But don't bite the hand that feeds you. I think there is a certain type of individual that frequents these sites and believe me they are not a true representation of the majority of Liverpool fans.

Don't get me wrong I am sure that they all love the Reds and many may even live in Liverpool and go to the match, but a lot of them don't. Fans of all clubs are a lot more reactionary now, it's just how society is, but sites like yours seem to have an disproportionately high number of them i'm afraid. Hence why the atmosphere on here is a lot more poisouness than it ever is at Anfield.

Being exposed to this type of Liverpool fan must give you a false representation of the rest of us, but surely you can realise the relatively small demographic (aged 15-30, computer savvy, I could add more characteristics but it may come across as insulting) that the majority users on sites such as this encompass, is not a true barometer of how the rest of us are feeling and thinking.

There are other individuals who use this site, myself included, who don't fit these characteristics, but it seems to be filled with comments from the same group of individuals who seem to post their opinions of something or other on an almost daily basis. From this I can see how you might put Liverpool fans on a par with reactionary fans from other clubs, but don't be fooled by a minority into believing this is how we truly are.

David {Ed002's Note - What hand that feeds me David? You clearly have a very poor opinion about my abilities to distinguish between vegetables and super powers such as yourself.}

ED 002 is spot on... plus shes a lovely lady who deserves a little more respect.

A lot of the so called 'supporters' on here are uneducated trolls who are not LFC supporters....

take everything that is said on here with a pinch of salt and a large dose of realism

the EDs do a brilliant job and especially ED002............... walk on through the storm EDs

ps I couldnt quite read all your hand written notes ED002, especially the ones saying how wonderful you are but hope I did well ?

Forever your servant......

Tel 1949 {Ed002's Note - You are like a god to me Tel.}

Per John Henry's comments in that email response from earlier, I suppose the owners could simply raise prices per seat to match ManU's take per seat. Would that make everyone happy?

Ed2 we fans have sufferd for 20 years looking at small clubs like chelsea and man city it hurts in modern football its all about spending money to acheive success and fsg are not power house and I'm suprised they bought the club where they underestimated the challenge no stadim we are turning a mid table team how can we be happy honestly I can't see fsg Our answer we need a power house man who can take our club foward rather than gamble with our club
Reds ynwa {Ed002's Note - You need to get something moving on the internet - harness the power of Twitter and Facebook to get FSG out and Kenny Huang (or someone like him) in. Make the technology work for you - you need a smear campaign. Perhaps kidknapping a loved family pet of one of the board members could be considered?}

True sometimes i think that there should be a seperate page for the TYPE 3 supporters fans Rodgers put it.

Ed2 before FSG bought liverpool they knew new stadium was imminent if they dint have money then why buy the club let's be honest they underestimated the challenge or they know nothing about football cause everyone knows to take lfc foward a lot of money is needed or liverpool will take years to compete with big boys I'm sry ed2 but no american owner have proved to be good owner in epl im really woried for liverpool {Ed002's Note - The options for the stadium were very well understood and have been explained. As has been discussed in great detail the chances of a new build were always going to be slim - certainly in my view, and to be honest many of the fans wanted the ancestral home given a new coat of paint in any case. As for Americans, it is I guess xenophobia on your part. Feel free to join forces with other who want to drive them out because I am beginning to get a feeling that you will get your way sooner rather than later. Were you one of those who wanted the charlatan Kenny Huang?}

To ed002 , fsg are an enigma to me and i do not know what their real plans are it would be great to see them or one of them to show true commitment i.e go to important games and not stay home because it clashed with the red sox , i want fsg and brendan to be the best at what they do because we get the mutual benefits . i would much rather be in your position regarding club ownership because no matter what people think of the chelsea owner he is there for the club.
i just want to say best wishes to lfc , fsg , brendan and all the eds .
i will come back in a couple of months , i was going to go to boston but not sure yet as the team we may put out may not be a true representation of what we should due to europa cup?.

With the Enland lineup tonight, if Carroll gets quality balls put in by Milner, could he become of more interest for us?

15 Jun 2012 19:58:45
WHY DO PEOPLE ALL WANT ALY CISSOKHO? he's awful, he can't defend, which for a fullback isn't that bad I you can attack and provide quality crosses, but he can't do that either!! If we are lookin for left backs I'd much prefer vurnon Anita. He's decent, not amazing but still much better than Cissokho.

U saw ONE game of his. Stop being idiotic.

With reference to a post sent in this afternoon congratulating John Henry for communicating to the fans with reference to new stadium vs refurb of Anfield which was unfortunately unsigned. Some muppet, again unsigned, insinuated that he/she would prefer a Roman Abramovich esq owner to come and blow loads of cash to build a new stadium and probably buy every so called star player on mega bucks wages. Is it me or is there a new breed of delinquent fan base surfacing via this fantastic forum. I really begrudge Man City and Chelsea for their perceived wealth and ability to pay top dollar. I would love it if, maybe over a couple of years, that BR moulded a team of hard workers that would die for the shirt and play attractive football that enabled us to eventually put us back where we belong. I maybe looking through Rose tinted glasses but I would sooner be competing on a realistic level, aka Arsenal, and win some credibility, trophies and a sense of achievement rather than buying success that will inevatably be forgotten or dismissed due to wealthy owners. I for one trust BR to give it his best shot and I don't think we need a team of Galactico's or star names, just a talented group of players that play for each other and the team. Whatever happens I will still support "my club" because I am a fan of Liverpool Football Club and always will be.
Cornish Red

Completely agree mate, their seems to be an increase in fans who want unrealistic achievements ad think that anyone not piling billions into a club is determined to see them in the lower leagues. I also think its these same people who say that a player or manager is 'too small' for the club. In other words they are completely clueless. I just let them get on with it and give my own support to FSG, who quite frankly save our asses, and Brendan Rodgers because I honestly believe he will improve us exponentially. Good post mate, great to see another fan actually talking sense.

Spot on mate my thoughts aswell

Well said. I would be heartbroken if my beloved club turned into a soulless institution. People don't look long term. Chelsea have no identity anymore. Man city will soon follow. Yes they will win now but when the money runs out which it will they will be screwed. Having lived near Chelsea for 5 years there fans are a torrid bunch of whiners even during joses years they were never happy. I doubt they were like that pre roman. CQ

All clubs buy their success, it just moot saying City or Chelsea buy theirs just because they invest more in players than other clubs. We were top spenders in the 70's and 80's, United in the 90's and early 00's, now its City and Chelsea. We have our money to spend they have theirs. They buy what they can afford, it may not seem fair that they have a sugar daddy spoiling them, but that's the way of the world, we just have to get on with what we can do or get.

You go on about muppets and then state that you begrudge Chelsea and then go an a delusional rant?

Chelsea are not a club anymore, they are a rich mans play thing. If he left tomorrow then the club would go under owing to the liabilities that he covers out of his own personal fortune. Chelsea are not a club anymore, they are at the mercy of his every whim, the fans hold no sway or influence over their own club.

Hey Eds, just wondering what's supposedly happening between Citeh and Gaston Ramirez. His agent came out a few days ago and said a top European club were in negotiations with Bologna and you reckon its City right? But I would think possibly we have just as good a chance to sign him as they do, we might not be able to match their wages but we can offer 1st team football ( what with Silva and Nasri there and the plenty of other Attacking midfielders they are linked with) and also we have 2 Uruguayan internationals who will help him settle (nothing as such at City) not to mention City are not yet a top European Club(while we have been involved in 2 of the last 8 finals and won the CL 5 times), usually when spanish speech is translated there can be some errors so I for one am definitely not counting us out yet. Do you think we still have a decent chance? {Ed002's Note - There is a possibility of Ramirez as I have explained.}

Hey Ed002 any chance you could copy your answer where you explained this as I used the search function on Ramirez but couldn't find your answer. Many thanks {Ed002's Note As I have said previously Gaston Ramirez has been watched by Liverpool but I still remain unsure as to how strong the interest is from the club but would not be at all surprised if a push was made to sign him. He was available in January for about 15M euro plus a signing on fee - but Liverpool did not follow up on their initial enquiry. They will not now listen to offers less than 18M euros. However, Ramirez will move in the summer with interest being shown by Napoli, Wolfsburg, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Palermo and Juventus, who have made a firm offer. Unsubstantiated rumours suggest Manchester United, Spurs, Barcelona and Real Madrid are also interested. Sevilla were interested but I understand that Ramirez has no interest in such a move. Discussions took place between Bologna and Manchester City - adding to discussions that have taken place with Juventus and Napoli.}-

If its alright Ed002 could you copy that answer, I used the search function and couldn't find where you explained this, Thanks. {Ed002's Note - As I have said previously Gaston Ramirez has been watched by Liverpool but I still remain unsure as to how strong the interest is from the club but would not be at all surprised if a push was made to sign him. Who do you believe they are if this is true ? Info from a good friend of Carraghers when he lived in Bootle. YOZLFC {Ed002's Note - I have no idea if this is true or who it might be. If the reason for selling Johnson is his wages how can BR explain bringing back Cole and giving him another chance? After a succesful season on loan the right thing to do at his age must be to cash in? This makes no sense.

Cole is actually good at what he's supposed to do... Johnson, less than so.

FSG TOTAL KOP OUT!

They bought us but dont have the finance to solve all our problems. A new stadium was always a key stone of lifting us back to elite level.

Yes they have paid down the debt but LFC deserved custodians with a little more vision and the money to solve our problems. FSG HAVE NIETHER.

Much of what they have done is positive but to hear Henrys comments on stadium is worrying. Sounds like they will just crow bar in more corporate boxes.

Personally I think redeveloping is a better option

True FSG have paid off a large chunk but LFC still have considerable debt.

Shut the peck up, cant stand so called fans like you, you dont like it go some place else, did you see any other people that wanted to save us, so what if we dont have endless amounts of money, teams can be built with little money these days, case and point, arsenal, newcastle and swansea

Its corporate boxes or ram up the ticket prices, which do you prefer? FSG have a successful history in bring in lots of commercial advertising/sponsers etc. The stadium will pay for itself in time, keeping tickets prices low.
Lee73

300 million for an extra 15,000 seats that a new sadium will bring is not a good financial option if you can modernise anfield , not just the amount of seats but the toilets and other facilities will be a good thing? any way its not going to happen this season so lets concentrate on getting a better team together , look at clubs who have good grounds i.e sunderland , boro etc but a poor team.

with the likely absence of a superstar 30-40 million signing i think i would be quite happy with sigurdson tello and krasic probably for about a combined fee of around 20 million, 2 exciting young attacking players and a very good winger in krasic who has a point to prove after falling out of favour at juve, goals from midfield from sigurdson (which we sorely missed last season) and a winger in tello who is one of the quickest wingers in la liga and can actually beat players and score goals as well. Try and add a striker to that (de jong/huntellar/soldado etc) and i think we have a squad that would defo be up there for top 4 or better :)

15 Jun 2012 17:58:07
Hi EDs
With regards release fee clauses in contracts, does it actually mean if a club matches the value they have to sell the player? Or does it mean they just have to allow the player to talk to the bidding team? Also good luck to the England team tonight hope big Andy gets on the pitch!

PM {Ed002's Note - In most cases there are caveats attached and they are only enforced under the same nation's law. Nobody can force a club to sell a player and nobody can force a player to join a club they do not wish to.}

Masher must have played about 3 games for the hammers when he was there and pardew didnt rate him but rafa saw what he could do and well the rest is history

Yes but we only got Mascherano on loan at first so could have binned him if he was crap.

Blimmin heck, just been reading up on Brendan Rodgers for a guy who turned 39 at the end of January, he must be one of the most experienced blokes in top flight football coaching/management for his age..... 8-)

He has been studying football since twenty , 19 years

Hi eds, what's happening with Joe Cole. Is he going or staying?

15 Jun 2012 16:48:55
Hi Eds and Macca,

I know it is really hard for you guys to post who we will be signing with all the variables in the market. Could you guys enlighten us on, which positions we will be looking to strengthen. I know it is hard because we don't know who is staying and who is going. Based on the squad we currently have, which areas will Brendan Rodgers be looking at? Cheers. {Ed002's Note - Much will depend on his assessment but at the very least a striker and a right wing. Then there may be a need to replace folks who are leaving. As you say, it is difficult.}

15 Jun 2012 16:48:20
hi eds just wondering what is liverpool doing with that player elm? i just heard a week back or so that we have paided cash for him butsince then iv heard nothing thanks {Ed002's Note - There was no money paid for Elm.}

15 Jun 2012 16:37:11
eds - did a rather large post I sent earlier about our squad get lost? Cheers.

If so, I've lost the will to type... Apologies to the guys I replied to earlier. I'm not typing that again. lol.

BJH YNWA {Ed002's Note - Is it on the team pages? Such things are normally put there by the Eds}

Thanks ed002. It is. I'm never on that page usually. Have a good one.

BJH YNWA {Ed002's Note - The reasoning is nobody wants to look at long lists of players and teams.}

"The reasoning is nobody wants to look at long lists of players and teams."

Cheeky.

Is that why there is a page for people to look at lists of players and teams?

I noticed a lot of FIFA lists there so I can see where you're coming from. Mine was a discussion on our current squad when playing Rodgers system though - hardly a fantasy post.

BJH YNWA {Ed002's Note - Not fantasy - but where we put the lists of teams and players - and your posts.}

15 Jun 2012 16:27:42
The best business we could hope for would be knowone else leaving and bringing in kalou, sturridge, and hoilett plus sigurson 15m spent youth and experience most of all quality

I don't know why there's such a lack of faith in FSG, the window isn't even open yet. Would be very dissapointed if that was our summer transfers. CQ

15 Jun 2012 16:21:22
What makes people think Laudrup would have be a better choice than Rodgers? I seriously can't work it out apart from the fact he is famous for being a damn good player?

Laudrup was 1 hell of a player but as manager as he done anything really,no..Look at roy keane as a player he was one of the best prem players ever but as a manager he never had a clue...Great players dont make great managers.

Id rather we based the comparrison on Jan Molby rather than RK on this LFC page thanks!!

Hi Edds great site. Just wondering if there is a realistic chance of signing salomon kalou instead of him going to schalke ? {Ed002's Note - Maybe - try the search function.}

15 Jun 2012 16:13:18
hi ed

if we are signing 2 members of man citys backroom staff. how does that work

if you go for a manager you have to pay a fee to the club unless hes out of work how does it work with other staff {Ed002's Note - It depends entirely on their contracts but compensation will be unlikely.}

15 Jun 2012 16:11:32
skrtel is not world class, he has had one good season and we still finish mid table, selling him for £20m and promoting coates would be a huge step in the right direction

Or sell him for 20m, buy Hummels for 25m.....Pity he'd never come but my FIFA team says otherwise

Disagree, we had one of the best defences in the league last year. It was the midfield and strikers fault that we finished so low.
We need to keep our defence together because thats the only thing thats good enough, apart from a new left back for competition and cover.

MIKEY

Agree with mikey our defence with Lucas as DM is close if not best in league. That's not a problem. However I do feel that Coates has a great amount of potential and can see him playing a lot more this year and possibly ousting skytel in 12 months time. CQ

15 Jun 2012 16:07:44
while we're looking at mediocre PL based players like victor moses, italian, french and portuguese clubs are scouring the world looking for the new vidic, nedved, cavani etc. time to pull the finger out before we cannot compete at the highest level anymore. lazy scouting ie. signing downing instead of some exciting south american winger isn't the way forward

How on earth do you know that we are looking at mediocre PL players - unless of course you are naive enough to believe the trash you read in the papers or from the fantasy football and games console players. LFC have shown of late that they keep their deals very quiet until they are nailed on

How honest and classy for John Henry to write that letter to The Anfield Wrap regarding the stadium. ( Its on the guardian website ) FSG must really care about fan interaction and getting this decision right. I would never have imagined an owner responding fan requests about info on the stadium. Yes 18 or so months after they took after still no decision about the stadium but I get the impression there is no one out there who could try harder to get this decision right, as it seems a really difficult issue. To those people who want FSG out, who exactly would be better to run Liverpool?

FSG just seem to keep impressing me more and more...

Just off the top of my head

Roman Abramovich

What is meant by backroom staff?

Cheers

All these damn transfer rumours make my head spin.
We are linked with just about every player.
Surely what is affordable and suitable are the only real options.

That said, it would be nice to get some positive news for once, not blind speculation.

Pls player like dawning or what ever his name is, cole, henderson , jonjo , johnson and pepe should b offload especially pepe and jone should b given time 2 prove him self.n d lyk of sigurson .tello.luuk de jong and better player who wil ve the heart of lcf wen playing should b brought in pls we need cl football.

Eds do u say munian as a type of player rodger would be intrested and would he fit is passing game mecca said we where watching him so our scout must have tell rodger about him

{Ed002's Note - I think Muniain is a most unlikely buy for Liverpool.}

15 Jun 2012 15:26:20
Hi Eds,

Thank you for this awesome site, always on it. At the moment it seems like nothing is happening in terms of ins and outs at liverpool. And alot of the info on the site is just being regurgatated. Its getting boring.
What i want to know is when is rodgers going to actually start knuckling down and start bidding for players and selling players. Is he just waiting for the euros to finish? ALSO whats happened to macca he hasnt posted anything on here for a long time, why?
And a quick note to all the people that are asking the same questions over and over again, either shut up or learn to read.

Regard
reddead {Ed002's Note - It is close season and Rodgers needs to assess the players. There is interest in players, we know that, but we cannot know when anything will be completed.}

Macca posted something on the 14th

Hi Eds, whats your opinion on John Henry's response to the stadium issue? heres the link: theanfieldwrap.com/2012/06/john-w-henry-on-the-stadium-question/

thanks,
irish lee {Ed002's Note - It is what I would have expected and in line with what we have been saying.}

Those lads at the anfield wrap reckon they're celebs

Seems a very well thought out and honest answer from the owners. Wish people who are always so hot about building a new stadium would take a few minutes to read it and try to understand the realities of the situation. Thanks for the link!

ed is there any interest in petr jiracek, vaclav pilar, kyriakos papadopolous,ibrahim affelay,van der wiel, willems, ozil, gomez, kjaer, s poulsen, veloso, oliveira, mcgeady, cassano, mandzukic, menez, konaplyanka.

ed pls pls answer, ive tried search function, really thanks appreciate

wafa

They've all shown ability to be competent footballers at a high level by passing a football sideways and winning corners therefore we should sign every single one

The Ed's have a life, why don't you do the research yourself if you are so interested in these players?

You have Euro 2012 fever. Got get some rest and put a cold towel on your head

He put Simon poulson in that list... Oh dear!

15 Jun 2012 15:08:57
Hi ed with rodgers given 1 more chance to cole i dnt think now kalou will sign and i dnt want either. Secondly i want these 4 signings what u reckon about these.
1. Sigurdson
2. Do jong
3. Krasic
4. Munian
thanx grt site. Love your response. {Ed002's Note - All have been discussed at length - try the search function for detail but in general terms three are possible.}

COME ON ENGLAND

Another small club supporter on the Reds site, Tranmere, Preston, The Bitters?

Certainly not on the Red side of Merseyside - club is everything, nothing else matters.

John B

Club is always in front of country.

They don't ever play each other so why does it matter? Support england or whoever when there playing and Liverpool when they are. Pretty simple to me.

I just really find it hard to support any team that has the likes of Rooney and Terry in it, I only watch England in the hope that the Liverpool players do well,and whilst I want England to win part of me does'nt really care.

Dav001

15 Jun 2012 14:56:21
hey eds, more of a ran/opinion/outlook here. but with arsenal getting giroud and podolski for a combined 20 mill or so, it upsets me that our splurge last season was so horribly overpriced for players who are as good as podolski and giroud. the thing i wanted to ask is
1) do you see the prior transfer failings as a main reason commoli was sacked and dalglish got blamed for it aswell?
2) do you see liverpool making any significant signings ? players who are quality/internationals? im super happy wif gylfi if that works out cause i thinks he is a great option, but are lfc just looking at cheap/potential?
your opinion/info on this would be greatly appreciated

{Ed002's Note - To be honest, in my view Comolli was simply "found out" and it was time to move on. He was the owners "football" man and he failed to deliver. Dalglish was a great temporary appointment after Hodgson but a serious error on a permanent basis. His handling of the mess caused bu Suarez and failure to deliver a good performance in the league were the underlying reasons he went. A great deal of money was spent and even the fans were not really satisfied with the buys or the performances they gave last term.

"Significant" is not unlike "marquee" in terms of signings. It is pretty subjective as a term but I would at least expect players coming in to be improving the squad - whether they are additions or replacements.}

Spot on Ed002, can you add an agree with Ed button!

15 Jun 2012 14:54:12
Hopefully the new swansea manager will tie up the deal for sigurdsson, allowing us to start targetting better players in his position. Trust me, you will be thankfull later, as I can just see him going the same way as Henderson, Downing, Adam and being unable to make the jump from mid table to top four challengers.

Obviously a better judge of a player than BR, did you apply for the job?

15 Jun 2012 14:52:18
ed002 i got a question for you. you seem to be the one saying titi vallenco (or whatever the new barcas coach name is!) is getting rid of keita, tello and cuenca. and by all means im not going to slaughter you for what you said.

but what im wondering is why does the coach not want cuenca and tello? keita is understandable at that age. if you could help me out with that id be a happy camper for the rest of the day! JLFC {Ed002's Note - I would have expected Tello to be offered a new deal but apparently he is not in his immediate plans. Additionally, it is a way of Barcelona raising some cash for purchases and freeing up some slots in the squad.}

That makes sense. now im not going to put words in your mouth here but by immediate plans you expect a buy back clause then? which is understandable they always do it. and would it not be easier and perhaps better too sell the likes of affellay or something? both are good rising talents with perhaps affelay not aspiring to be the better of the two? and could cost more being a few years older? JLFC {Ed002's Note - Some sort of buy-back clause may be possible but would limit where he could move to as many clubs will not accept it.

Afellay has been out injured pretty much all of this season and I think future chances at Barcelona may be limited but the kid is keen to stay and Barcelona seem keen to have him as a squad player. However, I think it is still possible that he will be available in the summer and that Barcelona would listen to offers. Italy looks like one option available to him if he is sold and there may be interest from the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs and Newcastle.}

Ok thanks ed. i figured it was something along those lines. thanks for the quick reply! JLFC

Just been on Sly sports that Lpools net spend over last 5 years is £83m

Ah, but they haven't added agent fees or vat on fees etc etc. Boom boom! (save your copy and paste ed002 for the next time)

The Irish Rover

Net spend last season was like 38m, and under rafa, we spent in the negatives for 5 years. I'm sure there is some mistake. Or maybe I'm mistaken.

15 Jun 2012 14:32:51
Eds, would you say lfc are now on a different playing field as regards to signing players. Obviously man city, chelsea, utd are ahead of us in terms of finance but i get the feeling Arsenal and spurs have pulled away now too. Would it be fair to say that now we have to be more realistic in that we're looking for up and coming players rather than household names i.e Tello, de jong, philips, vicosa etc etc. {Ed002's Note - I have spent most of the past year explaining my expectations and you can read all about it in the archive. It is not worth the grief to explain again.}

15 Jun 2012 14:30:33
Hi all Ed's fantastic work as always....When do you think the start of the transfers arriving will begin,rough guess please Ed's. {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

It is a tough one to call but thank you anyway.

Look we will start signings after euros as half players being scouted are playing there ad were not gonna buy now,,, because wait for it, wait for it,,,, what if they get f--kin injured.......... do you people really think were gonna pay big money for someone who gets injured and cant play for a year or six months.............please use your brains and stop bugging the eds and me with stupid rumours.... wait till the euros are over please

What rumor?It was a honest question to the Ed's not someone with anger issues,what a mug!!

15 Jun 2012 14:23:26
I have heard rumours we have signed a Marcos bueno? Is this true? You know if he is any good?
Do you think Liverpool will loan out sterling, suso, texiera or coady? I hope they do they need experience!
Jimrie.

15 Jun 2012 14:16:13
With Laudrup taking over Swansea there is a big possibility that Sigurðsson are going to sign for them too. It all depends on how hard and dirty Bradon wants to fight for the player.

My guess is that he's not going to do enough because of the good relationship between Swansea and him. He was hoping that Swansea would hire a manager not liked by Sigurðsson and he would pick another club. However, with a Danish coatch for a Islandic player that secanrio is not going to happen.

Norwegian Red

But it does depend on sigurdsson too right? i mean if he says no?

Laudrup might not have him in his plans ?

GUINNESSRED8

15 Jun 2012 14:13:31
Hi EDs. Prior to BR's appointment, there was a lot of speculation that Laudraup was acting in an advisory role for FSG. Is there any truth in this & do you think his appointment at Swansea will assist with the relationship between the clubs, particularly for loans & transfers? Sigurdsson will obviously meet him in the days ahead. It will be interesting to see (if he had been advising FSG) if he would actively support a move to Liverpool

Rich P {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any advice being given by Laudrup. Even if their were It would not pave the way for Swansea players to move to Liverpool. If he wants Sigurdsson he is hardly going to support a move to Liverpool.}

15 Jun 2012 14:07:47
Ok this continued theme lets sell suarez etc. Now we've got cash to splash great apart from other clubs know you've got cash and what talent there is probably don't want to come to Liverpool. Forever playing catch up with this atitude.

We dont have cash to splash. Kenny wasted over 100m on Downing, Coates, Adam, Henderson and Carroll.

Also, I dont want a player like Suarez at our club. Bad news just follows him. He bit a player in Holland, Spit on 2 other players. Cheated Ghana in the world cup then laughed about it and then there was the whole Evra situation. Id happily take 20m for Suarez and be done with him.

15 Jun 2012 14:07:43
Not a rumour, but is Liverpool fc is looking to unearth talents from Lower divisions of English football. We have been linked to a lot of Championship players in last windows, but its never materialised. Who could be the gems in Championship under the age of 20 years or less, who could step up in premier league
Indian Red {Ed002's Note - Liverpool like many clubs will certainly be looking at lower league players - particularly at the youth level.}

15 Jun 2012 13:54:33
Afternoon Eds,

With Laudrup being named as Swansea Manager should we expect some developments shortly with regards to Sigurdson, from my understanding is he was going to meet with the new manager but tell him Liverpool would be his destination.

Nice 1,

Muller {Ed002's Note - Timing is something we know nothing of.}

15 Jun 2012 13:51:03
If skrtel was to leave , and its in no way certin he will ,what are the chances of signing aggers international team mate Simon Kjær ? .cheers eds {Ed002's Note - Possible as Roma did not take up the option (by June 1 from memory) but the player is still hopeful a deal can be completed with them. He has made it clear that he will not return to Wolfsburg under the extant management.}

Ummm ummm ummm simon kjare is aggers partner not skertles

eds. any interest in jordi alba? {Ed002's Note - Not from Liverpool.}

15 Jun 2012 13:37:00
I heard a rumour that Del Bosque had said to the Spanish payers earlier in the tournament that if they lose the ball, they must get regain possession in under 5 seconds or lose their place for the next game. Now I'm not sure who saw the game last night, but I have never seen a team fight so hard to win back the ball as the spanish, their possession and trust in each others positioning is fantastic, unplayable at times (yes i know its easy when half the team play for barca), but its the fight and determination they showed that really stood out to me! They fought to regain the ball higher up the pitch, therefore closer to goal and ended up scoring 4!

That guys and girls is real Tiki Taka, if we play with half as much confidence next season, i will be a happy boy!

Just seen the article on the lfc website about possible interest in raul garcia this is the first id heard of it so i checked the search function and this is all that appeared.

06 Jun 2012 17:12:39
Hey Eds, are you aware of any interest for Raul Garcia of Atletico Madrid? He was on loan at Osasuna and had a very good season. I've tried the search function but came up with nil. Thanks in advance!

Brian from Birmingham

{Ed006's Note - I havent got any news mate sorry. Dont think we are interested.}

Now just watch how many plant pots jump all over this as if they've known about it for weeks,

nobody knows jack and that's the way it should be, things are going to be just fine stop panicking, the signings will arrive and they will be quality additions to the team, maybe not 30 mill signings but they will all improve the starting 11, kenny gave the squad depth BR will improve the first team.

If man city want skertal(spelling) that bad then we should only allow him to go if we got Richards and 7 mill for him, or 20mill. The 7 mill would pay for sig and we get a great player who can play RB or cb. Hate the way we always ave to pay over the odds for players and when we sell some1 they go quite cheap most of the time. So we sell a good player and replace him with a play half as good for twice the price on most occasions

Like most on here I just like to read the other posts and only occasionally bother posting myself. However, I like to click agree or disagree on a lot of the posts but sometimes I am unable to do that. Why?
It is because more and more posters seem to wrap two or three topics up in one post - I agree with one and disagree with another - what to do?

We have really missed out here.. Laudrup is going to Swansea, Redknapp is available and Moyes could be off to Spurs. All of 3 of them are better choices than Brendan Rodgers and all 3 of them would have better transfer targets than De Jong, Siggurdsson, Boudebouz, Moses, Diame, Kalou etc.

When Kenny was sacked was Rodgers your 1st choice? No chance. He will not attract the players we need to improve our first 11 and thats what is needed.

Also, Terrible news that Joe Cole is staying on this season, He wont improve us either.

Could the Reina, Agger, Johnson, Skrtel and Suarez rumours be true? Will they leave? If they do we are doomed. They are our 5 best players. Carragher and Gerrard are coming to the end of their careers, Carra wasnt picked much last season and Stevie only started 18 league games last season and only 25 in all competitions. I reckon next season could be the last for both, Obviously Reina, Skrtel, Johnson Suarez and Agger will know this and if they want to leave then this would be their opportuinity (in their eye's, i want them to stay) To be honest, Id keep 4 of them and get rid of Suarez, He's nothing but trouble and he has just constantly brought shame and bad publicity to our club, ajax and his country. Dont really want anyone at our club that bites another player, spits on opponents etc... We all know what happened with Evra, No need for people like that at our club.

All in all, Not really looking forward to next season, I think Rodgers is small time and not the right man to get us back to winning leagues. He had a poor record at Watford, Got sacked at Reading and was ok at Swansea.

As i said, When Kenny was sacked did you immediately think of Rodgers coming to us? Be honest. Klopp, Guardiola, Martinez, Biesla, Moyes, Rafa, AVB and Laudrup would of all been better choices.

But i support our club so ill give Rodgers a chance.

Paddy YNWA

So in ure first couple of lines u show no support to our current manager and continue to slag off the team throughout ure post, and then in the last line "But i support our club so ill give Rodgers a chance."

seriously mind h*ck, make ure mind up mate

The only one i would have over the lot u mentioned is laudrup. Moyes n redknapp not good enough for us, rodgers definitely is.

Hi! Eds: Have noticed some posters are saying they get lonely hearts/mature ladys adverts popping up?
I keep getting B&Q and paint and wallpaper ads.
How do I get the Lady ads?
I would really like to have a browse as I am currently single.
I am in full time employment H.M.O.H.A C. in my mid fifties 6ft.3in tall, slim athletic build and lightly tanned body, distinguished looking with slightly greying hair.
I am looking for a real women age mid twenties to whatever? age is not important. Nice body and personality are: My ideal women would love Football and sports and own a Pub.

The Irish Rover {Ed002's Note - As if I would suggest such a thing.}

I bet your dream of having millions kids is in verge of collapse.. With that description a perfect match for you would be a guy...

Didn't rodgers say in his latest interview he'd already spoke to suarez about the upcoming season and his ideas for his role in the team.

We all have been trying to find a girl with interest in football haven't we?

Any news on players signings from ed's of Macca? Seen lots of rumours just like last year but nothing concrete yet!

15 Jun 2012 12:03:00
"Conte asks his players to do a lot of defensive work and that is not one of his qualities", Krasic's representative Vlado Borozan told Radio CRC.

"He is a great player and we will look in June at where he will play.

"There are many clubs interested and not only from Italy."

So Krasic is not interested in being told to track back. Would this be a problem if he joined?

with the potential signing of Sig, a few people are saying he could be a long term replacement for Gerrard. He's undoubtedly a good player but does he have the pace and power to play that role Gerrard played at his peak?

Don't fall into the trap of trying to replace a player like for like, especially one of the standard of Gerrard. You find a new player, who will offer something different. He'll not be as good as Stevie in certain cases and better in others. Also, it's a team game, it will be important to build the right team. You'll essentially have 2,3, or 4 players playing a role Stevie might play, but they'll perhaps all add their own elements of that.
That isn't saying Stevie will be as good as 3 of our new players put together but you want to avoid all your eggs in one basket.

SCF27

Gerrard is a once in a generation player. We will not be able to replace him like for like. So comparing midfield prospective players with Gerrard is pointless.

Were not going to find another Gerrard, but pretty irrelevent anyway, rodgers will be playing a different style (Barca dont have that type), there has been for a few years an argument that the team play better as a unit when Gerrard is not on the pitch. However when he's on his game, pretty unstoppable.

we dont need 5 decent signings just maybe 2 or 3 that will hopefully fire us into the 4

Hi Ed's, do you know if Lucas will be fit for pre season? {Ed002's Note - He was expected to be - but there has been no real updates. They certainly won't over stress him.}

Lucas often tweets updates. His recovery is going well, he's training with the ball now, and is hopeful of being ready for the start of the season. No guarantees of course as things can change quickly, but assuming he progresses as he has been he'll be ready.

Not a rumour, just a quote from Brendan Rodgers' latest interview on lfctv. This sentence is so interessting, reminds of what Shankly would say....

"Every player wants to play for Liverpool. The magnitude, the size and the history of the club, and the quality of the people here in the city, means people will want to come and play here.
The problem is, everyone can't."

Most of our old managers were saying bassicly the oposite, such as "We want sign everyone, but not everyone wants to play for Liverpool"

Brendan Rodgers... "LegendInTheMaking

Nice Drew, great positive, heart warming observation

Please, please, get me a box of hankies! This guy is just not good enough. We got him cos he can run the club on a shoestring which is what the owners want.

I said last night that sources said Carroll wouldn't play tonight, turns out that they were wrong. But the slating andy got was unbelievable! It's not all about goals, he gives you a whole new problem with his strength. Good to see our fans slating our players again! You know nothing about football, you are the people who say we should get this player and that player because you've seen a you tube clip. You are the people who think their opinion is better than everyone else and also the ones who bring shame to our club. Get a grip and try supporting your team!

15 Jun 2012 11:29:09
If Skrtel leaves,i for one will be mightily annoyed. For most of his tenure at Liverpool,i have seen him as a risk,a weak link. This season he's been phenomenal,and if he jumps ship to Citeh,my respect for the bloke will drop tenfold! We helped him get to where he is,and for 12 million,who are we gonna replace him with? I know we have Kelly,Coates and Carra,but honestly,but that wont be enough! WelshBoyDave

I don't look at it in that light. I do not want leading players to leave. Skrtel has become a leading player, but if he or the club decide it is time for a move then we should accept that. (Assuming,that is, that the player in question doesn't hand in a transfer request on the last day of the window and then claim to be heading to 'a bigger club' ) This is their job !! Most of the players didn't grow up dreaming of playing for Liverpool and so no matter how much they become attached to the club and the city it is STILL a job. They have a relatively short playing career and so a time comes when players might look at what kind of playing life they have left, balance that against the expected progress of the club and then decide to stay or jump ship and go to someone better able to offer immediate trophies.
Support the players whilst they are here and wish them well when they leave

Puzzled

Blame City's unlimited budget, and agents. He is at the age where he will get one last big contract. I don't blame him, to be honest.

Hi all/eds I love this sit but there's one thing that really winds me up and its when people talk about Carroll as if he was fantastic? I mean was we watching the same football in that season or what? talking about keeping him and that you hope so.. well I sure don't, he's terrible and doesn't fit in with Liverpool, Id love to see the back of him but we wont because nobody wants him and we wont let him go for nothing because of what we paid for him - Id just like to hear somebody tell me what He's got to offer Liverpool after a season like that?

Yeah but when he hit form at the end of the season he was a proper handful!

Yeah your right mate but that makes me think why do it at the end of the season, he should of been doing it all season for that money.. I think he plays when he wants to play.

Good news for you, bro - PSG are considering him for a cool 20 milla.

Never been a big fan of Andy Carroll but you can't deny, he did start to play well at the latter end of the season.
Hope he has stormer for England tonight.
kidmillions

Typical modern day LFC fan, instant brilliance or move them on, that would be Lucas, Skrtel, Reina, Agger and many others who were not great in their first season ( or longer ) - he's young, strong, was a good premier goalscorer at Newcastle, with a 35 million price tag round his neck - if he has another season like last, I, and many others will probably agree with you. And as the first reply says, on his day he can be a centre halves nightmare.

John B

He came and was injured then Kenny chose to play more often than not as a lone striker.
when Carrol got a decent run of games his form and confidence began to raise, some of you are just unbelievable, we could of had a young Rooney or ronaldo but they would be nowhere near the level that they were at at Man Utd because they just get crucified and then in the next breath its give souso and sterling and morgan a chance, why so you can crush their confidence as well, the majority of fans were saying get rid of lucas get rid xabi get rid of skyrtle, give the players a chance to develop and settle. rant over,
support your team or support someone else we don't need or want you.
Jaydee YNWA

Yeah spot on, and if thats how we are judging our players these days Rush would have gone by the end of his first season, get a grip.

People forget he wasn't 100% fit for the majority of the season. He produced at the end due to his fitness and a good run of games. We will see the lad produce next season especially if BR plays his 4-3-3, Carroll being an out an out striker, Suarez on one side and maybe a new signing on the other if not Downing! Two many 'bandwagon' fans these days! Try making a judgement for yourselves and concider all variable that can effect a player (Injuries/fitness/homesickness (Carroll/ Henderson are still kids) etc. The same fans slated Lucas and Skrtel now they love them and gutted one is injured and the latter could be leaving! Carroll has enough in his locker to be a great player for Liverpool don't judge on a season and a half riddled with inconsistencies (off the field) which couldn't be prevented.

James Mc

Say what you want, AC is still not good enough for LFC.
Some mention him supposedly getting the better of John Terry, but we did,nt win the FA cup, so what was that so called dominance worth. Next time out we played a 'understrength' Chelsea.
All you AC lovers, don't fool yourselves, he is just not good enough and at £35m should be world class, yet can't even make it into the England starting squad at the Euros.
Pinch yourself, then slap yourself.. See him for what he is, a massive disappointment. Sell him now, and buy someone with real talent!.
Nuff said.
Oh yes, before I get slammed for saying this, I am a LFC fan, but expect better players to play for my 'beloved' team.

Andy Carrol is more like Andy Capp.

You guys saying typical modern supporter hat are you talking about? just goes to show you haven't a damn clue.. a supporter is a supporter, young or old.. beleiving he will come good, dream on.. and welcome to today's football

With Laudrup (my personal choice) going to Swansea and Martinez likely to go to Everton should Moyes go to Spurs, doe's this not prove that Rodgers was above them in the pecking order for Liverpool manager as I don't think they would turn down Liverpool and then move to smaller clubs,plus Chelsea sticking with De Matteo when everyone knows they were after Pep Guardiola shows he was going knowhere. So I don't think we were the managerial nightmare the doubters were portraying by saying everyone was turning us down....

Dav001

Martinez will go to spurs

Not sure many people ever thought Moyes, Martinez or Laudrup were ahead of Rodgers.

What is clear is that top choices were Guardiola and Klopp.

Perfectly happy with Rodgers. His team played the best football in the EPL.

Did one of the eds say man city would play 12-15 million for skrtel. If so why dont we do a swap with Adam Johnson. I like Skrtel but if he wants to leave he can f off Agger is the one that makes him look good. Also i was told that cardiff have a bigger transfer budget then liverpool. If thats true FSG need to sell to buy maybe thay should sell the club instead of all our best players. {Ed002's Note - I don't know which ED said that but transfers are rarely so simple.}

If we were to swap Skrtel i'd prefer to swap him with Micah Richards.

Is it just me, or does anyone think we should not be selling our best players to our rivals(chelsea,mancity),notwithstanding the money they will pay for them.Because it will make them much stronger thus making us weak.Reason i am saying this is in relation to martin skrtel supposed transfer to mancity.If he wants to be sold,then it should not be to mancity.Just an opinion.

We are now a feeder club.

We will try to get the best youngsters grow these players to be sold and that way FSG will make money.

FSG think they can do this while remaining in the top 4 this is their master plan.

All the fans should then be happy.

FSG will do this in a very slick way and we will be akin to Arsenal in some ways, note not all ways but like arsenal we will win nothing.

Do not insult the kings League cup win it may be all that is seen in silverware at anfield for many moons.

Wait and SEE.

FSG do not have the money lets face it. The days of not spending and winning are over. The only way we will win the title is to spend big on quality and FSG do not have the money to do this. QPR have a better chance of winning things then liverpool. We sold to another bunch of d**ks who want to sell our best players sign worse players and pocket the change. FSG can f off. Watch the fans go mad when Skrtel, Johnson, Agger,Suarez,Sterling are sold.

I have no issue whatsoever with Fsg selling a player,Suarez,Skrtle or whoever.I fact i can see the benifit in selling Suarez and maybe moving on Bellamy to buy 2 £20 million forwards. It will make us an all round better team, deoendinv on how they perform of course. The question is, how much would Citeh be prepared to offer for Skrtle? It would need to be in excess of £20 million to replace him and buy someone to replace Carra. I cant see that happening. Plus i could all be bull anyway.

The Irish Rover

No, why dont u Wait and SEE, Wait and SEE.

Kaizer

Another miserable negative poster.

It's good to see we have some very positive fans supporting our club. Go across the park if that's how you feel.

Remind me of some of the players we have developed and sold to our so called bigger rivals - and don't say Torres, he pushed to leave, and we made a good profit from him.

John B

FSG don't have the money? You're clueless mate, they have plenty of money, try just aren't going to haemorrhage it and get us in the brown stuff like Gillette and hicks. Do some research before making stupid adsumptions please.

2nd and 3rd posters.
when will the trolls on here realise FSG have already spent £m`s on dragging LFC out of the 25 year worth of greed,lies and poor business sense??

If you want to have a whine about not splashing millions on a pair of legs n set of lungs, i advise you just have a look at amounts they have spent on keeping our heads above water, because only now are we beginning to show signs of financial stability, albeit debt,interest etc payments, they were bleeding us dry.

FSG are not yonks, and the bulk of supporters on here acknowledge what they have done so far....

If you took the time to look into this yourself, you may be able to be converted to a supporter.
But then you will be the type of fan`s that prefers the line up on saturdays to match your FIFA thingy game.
Piddy

Wait a few years until the Fair play rules come into force, it will be a more level playing field then and with FSG'S business acumen and LFC'S huge global fan base and new stadium then we will see!

MR EM

Listen Piddy. Fsg are not our knights in shinning armour and they are certainly no Robin Hood. Fsg are here because they will make a big fat profit out of Liverpool fc. In order to do that they will need to sort the stadium issue out using as much of Air China's or whoever elses money, cut the wage bill which will obviously have an effect on who wants to come to Liverpool and spend as little as possible on players. These are the facts. I would rather have an owner who wasnt here to line their own pockets,someone like Abramovich.Wouldn't you?

The Irish Rover

FSG are not super rich, how many times do you have to be told.

FSG are not benevolent sugar daddies.

FSG are not in it for the Love of LFC.

Henry's Personal fortune is 60 times LESS than that of the sheik and 35 times LESS than that of Roman A. If people understood that there would be maybe less abuse directed at the Ed's. We cannot be linked to the top level of footballers with any seriousness. Our finances and wages caps prohibit such advances.

FSG bought LFC as an Investment vechicle and guess what when equity companies invest they desire to make a profit.

How will LFC eventually turn that profit for Henry?

Think about it, before the buttons fire off.

It seems very likely Liverpool will try to buy the best young talent, nuture it and then flog it on, this process has not started yet so the poster who wants examples of this will have to wait a few years. However are there any omens in place, are there any signs of the seeds for this?

Now the strategy of FSG is to bring the club forward to the point where this can be done, of course this will take 3-4 years.

The new Stadium is part of their plan to build LFC up for value added equity and then We'll see what happens who would bet against the sell-off?

Henry has farmed out/sold LFC shares to various interests no shareholder wants shares in a company that does not have a strategy to show a return sometime or other otherwise why bother investing?

When Russian oligarch's and sheiks are investing for FUN how can any other club compete? FSG is not Henry's passion and he admits himself he knows little of football, is this man our saviour, will he bring the EPL?

Undoubtedly Henry is an improvement over H&G but by how much?

A bit of deep thinking is required. Name calling and other insults just make those who do it look stupid especially to those with a little bit of savvy.

Food for thought maybe or a muppet or a troll talking?

AnCo

You are right Irish Rover

But who will listen to you for what you say is unplatable and nobody likes that, its much easier to read the ultra positive statements and dismiss people like you, me and others who know dfferent.

Mojo

Fair Play Rules will have no impact. If a few of the top teams are threatened with sanctions after breaking them they will threaten a breakaway league and that will be the end of that.

Fair play Rules my Ar*e, life is not fair and neither are many other things.

Dont unerstand this post at all, we paid 35 for caroll, 25 for saurez, 20 downing 16 henderson, £? enrique, 7 Adam, just because some of you trolls think the money hasnt been well spent doesnt mean the money hasnt been spent, get yourself off and follow man shi-y then.
Jaydee YNWA

Irish Rover,
I am no way implying FSG can have such status, but am i wrong to put a bit of belief in them?
Why do we have to be so driven by personal fortunes? when we know our owners are not personally wealthy ?

AnCo,
Of course they are in for profit, and they see the potential, but can you not see the positive? Think if they just keep making profits, re-invest locally, in the team putting us back where we were, not just in league and european standings.
We have to start somewhere, and first thing they are doing clearing deadwood and cutting wage bills, 4th highest behind citeh,manu & chelski and finish 8th !
Our home match day revenue is a third of manu, and less than chelski even though we hold more supporters.
I am more than glad we have business owners rather than a rich sheik.

Insults and name calling i apologise for.
Piddy

In response to

i think your right i dont see us buying young players to bring them on and then sell them for a quick buck, i feel that the plan will be that if players are to be lured away from us they will go making us a profit, something apart from the torres situation hasn't really happened.
what they don't want to be doing is say, buying a nasri or silva for 25 million and three years later they move on for 12, i could be wrong but i don't feel we will be going down arsenal route, god help us if we do.
Jaydee YNWA

So basically unless we find an Arab or Russian oligarch/monarch sugar daddy who will spend half a billion we are screwed?

In that case, I would still support the club, as I have done for 30 years, but it will not be the same.

Luckily, we don't have owners like that. Very happy with Americans who want to run the club as a business. That's how we have always been run.

If FSG had the money. We would have already proven 'A' list manager. And some big time players.
Nothing like this has happened.
FSG either does not have the money, or does not want to spend it.

Well said The Irish Rover.
FSG are here for the love of money, nothing else.
John Henry is no saint, he saw a opportunity to buy a 'international brand' on the cheap and went for it.
Its all about money folks, if they could sell LFC bit by bit and make a great profit they would.

We like to knock Roman and the Sheiks but they have never missed a opportunity to add value to their investment.
Chelsea are nearly as profitable as LFC (according to Forbes).
A final point, check your facts, LFc were not FSG's first choice, so screw the love of the club theory, they just saw a better option to make money.

Piddy

You are no doubt a genuine LFC supporter and your heart is in the right place.

I too like you will go on supporting LFC no matter what, but that does not stop me from taking a pragmatic view of where the club is going and voicing my concerns.

I do not expect everyone to share my concerns but over optimism in the face of adversity is not a ground I like to occupy. I too hope for the best for LFC but I fail to see how FSG can Deliver. When a club is run like a business to make profits and other clubs are run with owners that have passion and money for their clubs it makes it very difficult.

I wish BR all the best for the coming season.

AnCo.

Yes because we all want to own a business and not make any money
shut up silly boy

The sheik or Abramovich don't want or need to make money from their clubs they are indulging their passion not their purse

Well said AnCo.
Just wish we had the owners who best fit the status of our great club.
Not the bunch of 'venture capitalists' we have now.

Forget about 'big signings' its all about FSG squeezing every single dollar out of the club.
Bought cheap by cheap owners.

Todays group of linked players...
Krasic.
Michu
A. Johnson

Krasic only got 7 games last term @ juve (there has to be concearns there).
Michu dont know enough to judge this player who was one of the standout players for a poor real vallecano (spelling) team
A.Johnson we all have an idea of his qualities only real concearn would be his temprement does tend to go missing in matches sometimes.

what are your thoughts about liverpool becoming the new england squad..since we got 6 players already.... and are after sturridge and a. johnson (Jokes) but seriously have u got any pull in the boardrooms or club so u can tell them to take their heads out of there A**

15 Jun 2012 07:37:40
Surely D Sturridge and A Johnson have had their head turned knowing that if they sign for the mighty reds then this will increase their chances of an england spot. Maybe we should chuck bids in for Richards too!

YNWA

BRIXFRANKO

Screw CL spots, folks. England spots are IT.

I totally agree with this post, not too sure about sturridge but A.Johnson must be absolutely screwing right now playing a bit part role at city, he played every game in qualifiers and got dumped by the legend that is hodgson, i'm pretty confident he may end up with us, sturridge also showed while on loan the season before given the game time hes going to guarantee goals, I'm slightly hesitant with regards his attitude.
Johnson, krasic,sturridge, jarvis and sigurdsson would be fine with me without going overboard.

All we need are 4 players; Holding Mid a better backup to Lucas (replacing both spearing and adam), a striker, right winger and a creative playmaker.

SS/WF/Winger/AM; Jovetic - 20m
Right Winger; Krasic - 6m
Holding midfield; Jordy Clasie - 8m
Striker/right forward; Luuk de Jong 13m
£47m

recoup 12m in player sales
aquilani
kuyt
maxi
adam
spearing
eccleston

Adam never has been, and never will be a defensive midfielder, yes he was tried in the role as we lacked depth there, but it was not a good fit for him. He wasn't bought as a defensive midfielder, so will not be sold for his failure in a position he was never meant to play.
