Who saw higuian to Barca?! Even more surprising than the Lambert signing!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I believe this is the first I've heard of it. Not even ssn with their amazing "sources" have said anything yet.

This would be a sensational move. But why is he going to Barca?. Second fiddle to Messi? He is a natural striker and don't think he would be played centrally anyways.

This night sound like a strange question but does anybody have any idea about what kind of price we will be looking at for a champs league match at anfield?
How much were tickets the last time we hosted barca for example?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

15 Jun 2014 23:31:43
My ticket is in the second cheapest price band in the Kop and it was £38 per game, however I expect to be paying about £45 this season

May be controversial, but why not play Sakho as a holding midfielder. The reason I say this, is because he can tackle, passes well, can beat most in headers and is strong. The downside to his game is that he always has a mistake in him, as we saw today and most Liverpool games last season. Now if he were to play in a holding role for Liverpool, any mistake could be covered by the centre backs, unlike the current situation, where if he makes a mistake, the opposing team is one on one with Mignolet. A problem is that Gerrard will have to sacrifice that role in the team. But I would not mind seeing him on the pitch for a limiting time, if he is played further up. let's be honest, Gerrard was praised last season due to scoring, leading and passing. There was not much praise for his tackling or defensive qualities. This is not a dig at Gerard but an idea for the evolution of the team, and being more defensively sound for the future.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not too sure his passing is good enough and while I rate him I think he still panics under pressure

Agree0 Disagree0

You might see him panic less if he could rely on Skrtel not going missing.

Not a bad idea. I like the idea of players doing a shift in different positions, depending on the opposition

Im a big fan of skilful wingers being moved to fullback. i'd love to see someone like ibe as a fullback for instance.

16 Jun 2014 00:54:08
Absolutely no first touch so please god no.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do people feel the need to change players positions all the time unless its out of complete necessity I would just buy a dm instead of moving players about the pitch to try make something work. that's only ever a stop gap solution

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jun 2014 09:16:06
He is a CB. Plain and simple, Let him just be it.

Agree0 Disagree0

No, he's a good cb and I feel he would really struggle in midfield.
I know a lot of people think there isn't a lot of difference between the 2 positions but there is.
I thought sakho was rock solid the other night. Hope he has a great season.

I would like to open the debate for the FA 'B' League. For me it's a no brainer. You see the benefit's in Spain of having competitive 'B' teams. It allows the player to develop within the clubs infrastructure (obviously learn more about the culture of the club both on and off the pitch) in a competitive environment.

You see the price we pay for producing a limited amount of talented players portrayed perfectly in our chase for Lallana, for that sort of money you're more in the ballpark of Sanchez. However the law of Supply & Demand dictates that, for the most part, if the supply is low; but the demand is high (which it is because of quotas FA clubs have to meet for players trained in England) this leads to above Market Value prices. (Carroll; Darren Bent (more than once); Lallana; Downing; Rooney (300K p/w?); Henderson; Shaw; although Sturridge is the exception).

I think that the FA B league will help this issue as it will allow clubs to give their young players an opportunity at a more competitive level without a loan which will in turn mean they are more aware of the player and his strengths & weaknesses & ultimately whether or they're going to be able to get a chance in the first team. The problem obviously being that we aren't producing enough players at the top level.

Of course it's going to piss some people off, but nothing is ever going to have universal appeal, at the end of the day it should not only improve the standards of football for our youngsters but it also gives us a further chance to explore his readiness for 1st team football.

Just my opinion, I'm sure a lot of you will disagree :)

YNWA

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think it's a great idea personally and hope it happens. I remember even back when Rafa was manager that he cursed the lack of competitive football once a player begins to come out of the under age teams but isn't quite ready for first team football.

For all the good Rafa left in terms of the under age legacy, it was always hindered by the lack of competitive football and this would go a long way toward rectifying that.

It's not the same when a player is simply loaned out to another club because you're never guaranteed he'll receive the same level of coaching and be played in the certain positions a manager may like a player to be.

Agree0 Disagree0

I also when Rafa mentioned it; I thought it was a great idea then the next question is how to implement it.

Also there is a difference between how the Spanish play and how our lower league levels play (as well as the standard of refs.

Not sure playing against teams who play the long ball or not as gifted players who want to leave their mark on an upcoming player would be beneficial.

Also I know the reserves/U21 normally (or used to) play in the Liverpool cup against other men's teams and some of the games were tight and that's not league 2 standard.

Will we have some players in the reserves who won't ever make it but kept to ensure we stay in a particular league?

Maybe introduce them to the Johnson Paint trophey (or what ever its called now) as a trial - then again get knocked out 1st round and its not proved anything.

Given the quotas there is still going to be high transfer fees as the amount of quality players will be roughly the same.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it is a great idea but that's because I follow a team in the premiership; owners, managers and supporters of lower league teams have a different take on it.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed003's Note - Why should the rest of the pyramid have to be altered to suit a failing of the Premier League ? Elitist poppycock }

It hasn't worked in spain bar Barcelona and real madrid apart from that its crippled a lot ofclubs quality. look at spain when do teams get promoted and then actually do well? It also cripples lower sides financially because teams can't sell their nurtured talents to bigger clubs instead the big clubs already have the top talents in their b team.
And what happens with the cups can they play? Or the loan system in theory you could have 16 Liverpool players on the pitch without the actual Liverpool team playing.?.
Alot of creases that need ironing before ill be convinced

Agree0 Disagree0

It's a completley different set of factors.
For me Englands lower tiers are MUCH MUCH stronger in terms of players than spains, also we have fans that travel to see the lower teams play, spain doesn't.

I think people are too quick to think are main failing at football is simply down to too many foreigners, coaching etc.
But for me it's an abundance of things.
We have a VAST array of sports being played in this country which dilutes the talent pool massively. Rugby, tennis, golf, football, cricket, swimming, athletics etc. There's too much pressure on all these sporting teams to succeed, how many of these sports can spain say they honestly excel in and produce results? football, and 1 person at tennis?These sports take away a lot of good atheletes at early ages in different paths.

Also we are quite a career driven There's a lot of sporting people that chose to actually work 9-5 for a living or become a doctor. Spain currently has a 25% unemployment. Quite typical of countries where there's little job prospect you will see them produce excellent sporting stars, as since they have very little career prospects people completely throw themselves into sports in an all or nothing bid. it's good we actually have a job market which will ofcourse realease the burden to succeed at sport.

I'd prefer to keep the a reserves league atm as I can't see how it can be fairly implemented and I don't think it will change the youth production as I still think we will buy youth from abroad.

Just curious to know what you lot think of Lallana. In my opinion I don't think he is what LFC need.

£30m for a player who will likely be on the bench is crazy. Coutinho is 5 years younger and Sterling is 7 years younger. This transfer makes no sense.

Sanchez could be the difference between LFC been 2nd and 1st! I think he should be the player that LFC look to bring in. Barca would be crazy to sell!

In my opinion the only English players out there that I think could improve LFC are Shaw and Barkley. Let's be honest. There not happening! Others like Cahill would but they already play for richer clubs like ourselves.

What do you think?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

15 Jun 2014 20:47:45
Sanchez is not a possibility, As we have no interest. Lallana is the only CM we have been interested.

Agree0 Disagree0

He is a class player. There were many games last year when he completely ran the show. He would be a great buy. The only shame is the sell on clause with Bournemouth. Southampton value him highly enough and when you factor in the 25% they want covered too then that makes the deal pretty much unobtainable. I cannot see him putting in a transfer request but stranger things have happened.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jun 2014 21:37:12
Really like lallana as a player, technic is quality, two footed, adaptable, and can run with a ball. But personally think he is a £15-18m player but would be fine with around £20. But £30 is just too much! That type of money gets players like fabregas, griezzman, Turan, Sanchez, and potentially hummels, subotic etc - obvs their wages would be significantly higher but still is too much money for him. I know we can't attract the top players but for that much think you could either players I think are much better then lallana or two players of similar quality (added the need to improve squad depth just can't see it).
But if he signs for Liverpool I would support him anytime he put on the red shirt

Agree0 Disagree0

Seriously how would lallana be on the bench?he is better than coutinho allen and henderson

Agree0 Disagree0

Lallana won't replace Henderson, they play different positions

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jun 2014 22:31:08
> Lallana won't replace Henderson, they play different positions

He will replace Henderson or Sterling . but one thing for sure one of these 2 will be dropped . and then you will have to question the long term plan for Coutinho

Agree0 Disagree0

Not good enough for our first team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jessie Pinkman, I find it hard to compare Lallana to Allen and Henderson. Completely different players and Lallana is certainly better at what he does if you compare him with those two. Just like Henderson and allen is better at what they does than the other two. They are different and what we need is more options. Lallana certainly had a better season than Coutinho, with his impact in the final third being a lot more decisive and consistant than that of Coutinho. On top of that, I recon he is far better defensively, better tactically and more intelligent in his pressing.

That is not to say that Coutinho couldn't become better than Lallana in the future.

Buying Lallana would, for me, be absolutely fantastic. Whatever he is going to cost, if the club feel they have the money to buy him, i'd trust them on that - whatever the reported fee will be.

Looking at our bench this year and the options BR have had to impact the games with substitutions, I find it quite remarcably that we did as well as we did. We certainly need better options from the bench next year and better overall quality in the squad. I'd love if I had a bit more trouble figuring out who my preferred starters would be from game to game. Should we go for Coutinho, Sterling or Lallana on top of the diamond for this game (if that is the formation we are going to use going forward).? To the end of this season it was merely a question about Allen, Sterling and Coutinho rotating two spots - the rest of the team more or less picked itself depending on injuries.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jessie Pinkman, forget my last post :-D

I misread it and thought you had written: How would Lallana be on the bench? Is he better than.? Like you where questioning whether he would even be on the bench.

How stupid I made myself look :D

Agree0 Disagree0

30mil is crazy for him. We payed too way too much for Carrol, Adam, Downing, while Stirling, Cortinho and Strudge have proved we don't need to splash silly the cash. 30 million is more than we payed for Suarez. With the FPP rules coming in and with the club loosing money to the tune of million per week we should move on. Forget Lallana and tie Suso down to a contract - its a no brainer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just following up on some of the interesting debates about the England team today, I think where Hodgson is struggling is that he has no cover for Gerrard or Johnson. Gerrard should have been subbed rather than Henderson yesterday and he has no one to reasonably swap for Johnson.

In my humble opinion, Rooney and Johnson should be dropped for e next match and Gerrard should have been subbed in the last. None will ever happen as you all know as no manager has the balls to do this.

Also, why is it that only England managers cannot see the obvious tactical changes needed when the whole world can. It's the same every tournament. I thought the team did well overall yesterday but it doesn't matter how good the players are, or how existing the youngsters are, it can all be for nothing if the manager hasn't got the tactical nouse or balls to make the necessary changes and hard calls. For me, that is what has let England down so often. Not so much the players, it's the systems and way they are asked to play that has let us down so much.

We have some great young talent but how on earth a manager can ask them to go on as subs and do some individual magic when the teams tactics have not allowed us to get much possession of the football. Sterling, great player, but if he is spending all his time and energy chasing back to get the ball who is he really going to be able to beat? Don't figure! Doh!

Anyway, that was my 2 pennies worth. Forgive my wee rant, I watched the game at home with the family asleep and my mrs hates football so I had no one to discuss it with. :-)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Gerrard and Rooney are always c**p for England in tournaments. IMO Watching England always shows me that the English 'stars' are not as good as we think. If I was Roy I'd leave them both out

Agree0 Disagree0

Get over it.

England are and will continue to be one shabite team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nothing to get over. I'm English and will always hope we do well but I just wish we had a younger, more tactically astute manager. It will be a real shame if we don't get through the group but it's not all over yet. 2 good games coming up hopefully.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gerrard role is deep lying midfield, he doesn't need to stand out when we play, but when we are losing he should be sacrificed. Yeah he's composed and can't create, but hendo is fitter and wilshere can create too!

Agree0 Disagree0

DBol, I can confirm that Gerrard has always been quite decent when he put on an England shirt. He was our best player in South Africa for sure.

Agree0 Disagree0

Suffolk Red. For me England lost the game due to an inferiority complex.
We let them have the ball. We let Pirlo have the ball.
And when we lost everyone said " We played well though".
The England team has suffered in much the same way as the Liverpool team for many years by having lots of managers who worry more about the opposition than their own team.
Watching the game just made me very happy that we have a manager like Rodgers who would rather keep the ball than give it away.
If BR had been in charge of England v Italy would he have given Pirlo the freedom of manaus? Would he have played Rooney on the left? and most importantly would he have played a possession based game or played on the counter attack?
Look at the Dutch, did they decide to play on the counter against Spain? I thought they went toe to toe with Spain and destroyed them mainly because they believed they were better than Spain.
That is the mentality that England need but Hodgson won't provide due to being Mr Safe.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jun 2014 09:22:44
Jonny

I don't say we let them have the ball, Our formation was set up for counter attacking with pace.
So its obvious you won't have ball in the middle. Liverpool vs Everton at Anfield?
Gerrard and Hendo were up against Pirlo, Marchisio, Veratti and De Rossi.
England lost the game at the flanks. They never came through the middle, As their WB exposed ours with ease. They had almost 5-6 croses inside first 20 mts from the left side. Baines was exposed big time.
We did cause them trouble, When we were on the counter as our pace was too much for them to handle.
Take out Welback and Roney and put two natural wingers if you have ( Sanchez, Shaquiri, Robben type ) on either side and see the difference.

Agree0 Disagree0

Home fan I take your points on board but the point I was making is that until we as a nation make a decision to play with the ball rather than without it then we will continue to fail.
Allowing Pirlo to have the ball with no pressure on his amazing passing skills was just lunacy.
Rodgers likes to dominate teams with the ball and England decided to try and win the game on the break. No chance.
Switching Shaquiri and Sanchez for Wellbeck and Rooney would not have made any difference as they would be defending all game long like the two united lads were.
We should have tried to keep the ball and that would have allowed us to push up the pitch and use Rooney and Wellbeck as attackers rather than defenders.

lol its brilliant that people on here feel a player can be judged on 1, YES 1 game.dear lord

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well when I was a youth, you got selected for a trial, yes one game. Anyone who knows anything about football can usually tell within a few touches whether a player ticks the boxes.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - not true, the greatest scout of all time, Geoff Twentyman would always look at players a number of times and speak to people around them to find out their personality before recommending them. Anyone who thinks that they can tell enough from a few touches, is simply deluded and overly arrogant. Anyone who actually really knows anything about football and scouting would tell you, who obviously doesn't, that even the best players can have off days.}

Players can have off days, and it may not be extensive but you can learn a lot in just one game, temperament, teamwork, work ethic, style etc.

Form and quality make take longer to scout but doesn't mean you can get initial judgements and quickly work out whether to continue scouting a player or not.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - sorry but it is making those kind of judgements on one game that can lead to missing out on top players. The first time I saw Zidane play, he was truly awful, everything from his touch to his passing was absolutely terrible. If I judged him on that night, I would have wondered what the fuss was about. Every single player has days when it all goes right and days when it all goes wrong, you can not judge anything other than form in one game. Saying form takes longer to scout just shows a lack of understanding of the subject. Form is how they are playing at that current moment, it is the only thing you can find out from watching one performance.}

Maybe they knew after a few touches you couldn't play ozone. ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed01 is right. Scouting a player takes weeks if not months of info and data collection so a better judgement can be made on the prospect. Fabregas once said that AW had either watched or had someone watch him up to 50 times at the Barca academy before pulling the trigger on the transfer. Some players get signed on one or two performances but not as much as one might think. A total body of work in terms of on-field ability, injury history, character and personality as well as off-field mentality and conduct have to be compiled before signing a player. Also on Zidane, he was quite poor early in his career and had a poor Euro `96 and a poor WC in`98 where he got sent off in the group stages before popping up to score twice in the final. That final was the beginning of his rise to football royalty as we now know it.

Agree0 Disagree0

No ED that wasn't the point, maybe I did not phrase it correctly, but form can blur a players performance for better or worse and a number of games are needed to establish this.

But things like temperament and work ethic will not change even if the player is having an "off day"

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - so not true, work ethic can and temperament can vary with things like off field issues or illnesses. Still not getting it are you? There is no way to tell from one game if a player has the ability to make it or not.}

Well I've got an attic full of medals Mikey and no 'if only's' in the back of my mind regarding the level I played at. Splitting hairs again Ed for the sake of it, I never mentioned personalities and for the record you can judge a player in one game even if he's having an off day. Granted scouts at top level will revisit if there's decisions involved but a scout leisurely watching a player can build a profile in his mind off one showing. A one game trial is all you get these days with the lower league clubs. I won't mention the club in question but my 18 year old nephew recently had a trial with a club, he had an off day, members of the team purposely not passing to him as he wasn't one of the click. Nonetheless the coaching staff saw enough in him to offer him the chance of further training with the club which he duly declined as he's received better offers.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - if you say so, but I will stick with what the greatest scout in history had to say over you every day of the week Ozone. By the way, if one game is enough, why weren't they just signing your nephew? Instead they wanted to see more, odd that as you are preaching one game being enough to judge on.}

They saw a profile in him that suited the way they play Ed, whether he would go on to fulfil that profiles another thing. All I'm saying is from what I've seen of the Swiss lad so far, in my opinion, he doesn't fit the profile for the type of player we need. I may be totally wrong but it's an observation. I've only seen Konoplyanka once when he played against England and believe he's ideal for our style of play. I could also see the logic in Salah, I just don't see it with Shaqira.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I wouldn't disagree with that opinion, I am not convinced by him either, he seems to lack end product. I would like to see more of him to be sure though, as most of what I have seen is years old and lots change as players get older.}

Like I said Ed, he had an off day, he didn't play well but they saw something that caught their attention. If they didn't have the ability to make a judgement from a single game, they would have just told him he wasn't good enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just to add to this debate, Roberto Baggio said he was scouted 11 times before he was offered a position on the youth team. I know that's only one player as an example but he's the only ex player I know well enough to ask.

I also know that cesare Maldini would tirelessly about a player for a full year before deciding on him.

A great player needed to be scouted many times and a great manager scouted for a full year, this tells me that perhaps you can't make your mind up about someone after one game, no matter how good they are.

Agree0 Disagree0

I've just told the wife to get the Buffett gear in, I'm throwing a party, Ed001's agreed with me. I never thought I'd see this day Ed!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - you were bound to get something right one day Ozone, even a broken clock is right twice a day......}

You've made my week Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - shhhh or everyone will want pics too.....}

Nevada, I think I might have been misquoted here and as a consequence we may have gone off on a tangent. I agree, clearly professional football clubs aren't going to make a decision on a player after a single scouting session. What I'm getting at here is us as fans, if you've been around a bit, we as fans can generally see if a target suits how your team plays in a single showing. You can judge balance, pace, right sided left sided abilities, general vision, basic instincts and strength in a single showing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ithought your lot played well but the problem was rooney, can you believe that moyes gave him a new long term whopper contract, I still think you will get out of the group but will hodgson bite the bullet and drop that clown, sterling was fantastic and not bringing ashley cole was a mistake imo

Agree0 Disagree0

Back in the day when the great Bob Bishop was still alive he used to send loads of kids over for trails with Utd. One mate of mine on the back of a Schools cup final we won got sent over. Never got a look on at the trials when over at Old Trafford. Completely out of his depth. Yet football can be about lucky breaks also. Another mate of mine got the boot from Utd along with David Platt. Both ended up at Crewe. Platt went on to have a great carreer and my mate eventually came home and played part time football. In all honesty Bob flooded loads of kids across the water in thoses days. Some with a degree of success, some not!

Agree0 Disagree0

As far as I was aware growing up.

Each areas has feeder clubs.

I grew up in the northwest(wales). Mickey Thomas the Ex Manchester United player used to run the colwyn bay youth team. I know he would recommend players from our league to be scouted and that scouts came to watch his youth team play.

I certainly don't think the system is perfect. we used to smack his team full of the supposed best players by 3 goals or so. But our boys never got a look in wheras several of his went onto UTD Chester and Wrexhams books.

They used to have tournaments too where scouts from the country would come watch.

We played bamber bridge, celtic youth, shotton steel, and an irish side The 3 clubs were feeder clubs for bigger teams.

Depending onr esults you were watched from 3-7 games. If you were good enough you were offered a chance at one of the feeder clubs or the youth team. I was asked to go up to celtic over the summer for assessment. (I have family up in scotland so it was fine. and I lived with them over the summer)

Sadly for me I wasn't good enough. This incidentally is where I met and became good friends with a certain person that gives me inside information with martin o neill. Sadly with him being Ireland manager atm. there's no transfer stuff I can give out.

Just my own personal experiences with regards to scouting and youth setups

hi eds/reds I hope br was looking at the switzerland Ecuador game, as I wrote in afew weeks ago as a alternative to moreno, ricardo rodriguez fantastic going forward and imo better defender than moreno, and will be bought for less than moreno, and without all this bull that seems to be going on with the moreno transfer.br forget moreno and go get this lad and serge aurier for the right side. imo

This is only based on one game but shaquiri hasn't done much to excite as a prospective signing today. Seems a bit moody, frequently wasteful with possession and not willing to work if the ball isn't exactly to his feet.

Is this why bayern are happy to sell? .

Again only based on one game but still. Would prefer lallana

Believable0 Unbelievable0

15 Jun 2014 19:34:32
Shaqiri wasn't so bad today but not very impressive either. If we are basing on one performance, then Cuadrado would be the best signing. (Except Sanchez of course but that is quite unrealistic.) According to Ed2 he has been watched by us in the past, he is like another Sterling to be honest, turns so quickly with the intention of going forward and making something happen. Would be a great signing.

Agreed Glowbrix, I thought it as soon as I read the link. Not good enough and he slows the game down, he likes the sideways pass. Not suited to our style of play. We've got better in the Acadamy.

Not based on one game but if the transfer is in the £15M range I think that's a lot of money for someone who has not played much football in 2 years.

Also going by some of the comments the Ed's have mentioned (i.e. player leaking comments to the press) then I'm not sure he's the answer for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jun 2014 17:27:17
Just a quick question to ed's. How would you assess our transfer activity in this window compare to previous windows. After this window would you expect Liverpool to return to a policy from my generation in 70's and 80's of one or two quality signings and less of the turnover seen in more recent transfer windows?
Cheers ed's insight is appreciated

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I don't think there is an easy way to answer this. The additional television money and the additional income from, if possible, sustaining entry in the Champions League will make a major difference financially, but the club right now is still struggling with growing debts, a stadium refurbishment to come and limitations on cash-flow. This means that transfer funds need to focus on improving the squad and the club needs to focus on bringing the kids through. Or it will be a year of transition every year.}

15 Jun 2014 19:24:53
We signed 8 players last year and challenged for the title so it's very hard to judge. If we don't get numbers in the squad then we are living dangerous with the amount of games.

I have a fantastic idea for the Liverpool transfer committee if they happen to read this. let's watch the World Cup and if any player does anything even remotely impressive, no matter how brutal the opposition are, let's sign him up.

What's the worst that could possibly happen from such a strategy.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

El Hadji Diouf and Salif Diao.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - good thing is that it will rule out any possibility of a bid for Rooney.....}

Amusing how short some peoples memories are.

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha

It takes a truly special player to make Aspas look like a corner specialist alright!

Agree0 Disagree0

If you're referring to me Glowfrix, I'd respond with the point that this is the banter page. Hence anything said on this page should be taken with a very large pinch of salt.

So seen as it clearly wasn't clear in your head ill point it out to you now, I was joking.

What are the chances of shaqiri? do you think if bayern sell theyw will wait and see if he has a good world cup so they can inflate the pricce?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Really don't fancy him.

Agree0 Disagree0

After seeing Shakiri's performance against Ecuador today I can say that 20M is a bargain. We should defo go for him, he was outstanding.

Agree0 Disagree0

Blood red whay were you watching?
Shaqari was decent, didn't create anything and didn't look dangerous. He was aaverage and what you see at the WC is the same.player fans are wishing on here.to buy because he's at bayern. If he was playing for aston villa, fans would be outraged.
Imo as I have said.for months' he is no improvement on pur first 11

Agree0 Disagree0

He seems the sort of player who blows hot and cold, pacey player but inconsistent with his end product. But I'm only judging on today's performance.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ambulance for bloody red please, potential brain damage.

My good sir what on earth were you watching?!?

If shaqiris performance appealed to you so much i'm surprised you aren't crying out for assaidi to start next season, they're basically the same player

Agree0 Disagree0

Blood Red are you being sarcastic?

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jun 2014 20:56:09
I agree with Big Al.
Running around the pitch to get insight of the camera doesn't make you anything. He was just doing that whole day.

Agree0 Disagree0

No Ozone I am not sarcastic but I feel he played well today and could be a decent squad player for us

Agree0 Disagree0

`Hope for your sake he improves in subsequent matches because on today`s performance, he wasn`t worth even 8m IMO.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope we don't spend £20M on him and make him a squad player. that worked out so well for £15M Allen.

Agree0 Disagree0

Blood Red, don't look for a job as a scout.

Shaqiri was pretty awful.

Didn't look worth £2m based on that game, never mind '20m'.

Maybe you meant '20m' grains of rice?

That your assessment of him went from 'outstanding' to 'decent squad player' seemingly in the space of 5 minutes is not reassuring either.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jun 2014 17:29:15
Have you guys heard anything about Enner Valvencia (Pachuca, Ecuador)? I wouldn't imagine its someone on a lot of European scouts radars until that beautiful header against the Swiss fifteen minutes ago!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Guy scores a goal in the world cup and people start asking about him. Does anyone remember El Hadji Diouf? He had a Good world cup in 2002, but was totally garbage for Liverpool.

Do the eds rate caulker, I didn't think he was highly thought of? I honestly thought with CL we would be going for higher calibre players in the positions we really need to firm up as opposed to the back ups. lB, CB and LW should be where the real money is spent and anyone else is back up and spending should be spread accordingly

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he is ok, but not good enough for us. Big and quick, but his positional sense is non-existent. To me, he is Championship level, not Prem level.}

Championship level is harsh ed decent passer of the ball also

Hi Ed's,

Have been told that our continued interest in Ryan Bertrand has now stepped up a gear and we are now discussing the possibility of a move with his club. Apparently he is now seen as the best option given his age, ability and cost. Have you heard anything regarding this? I'd like to think we could complete the Moreno deal but wouldn't be displeased with Bertrand.

Many thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any discussions with Chelsea at this time, but Liverpool spoke again with his agent.}

15 Jun 2014 17:36:44
Ed who else are interested In Bertrand If I remember rightly you said a club was pushing for a deal?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - He was offered to Southampton, who may still be interested if the lose Shaw, Spurs have shown an interest as have Hull.}

15 Jun 2014 19:14:40
Personally think Bertrand would be fine, and probably much cheaper. I hope Smith gets a loan and Robinson stays as cover with a few chances to impress. He did indicate that he wants to prove himself here, but then again so did Suso. Honestly have no idea what will happen but I wouldn't be so unhappy with Caulker and Bertrand.

Claudo Marchisio looked some player to me, He was a very good player at Juventus not getting enough game.
Ed002, With Can's arrival We won't be moving in for him anyways, But did we ever had an interest in him?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No Harry.}

15 Jun 2014 14:54:43
Ed001, what do you make.of.rooney.playing for England?
Im not being bias, bar his cross.he did nothing. My point is if not play him at his 9 or 10 position why play him? When there's better wide.players, same goes for welbeck. And I thought Henderson.had an excellent game for england last night'

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I just think, why play him? He doesn't put the effort in, his touch is poor, his positioning and runs are terrible and he no longer seems to be able to score from anywhere, like he did when he burst through. If you are going to play the way England did last night, then you have to press the opposition, or play widemen who are willing to help the full backs out. England had neither. When you face Pirlo, you have to be an imbecile to set your team out to drop off and give him time and space. Yet that is exactly what the management team decided to do last night and it showed in the result. Also, if you are going to bring someone on to change the game, don't bring on Jack Wilshere as well as Barkley, they are too similar and the game just passes Wilshere by far too often. Barkley is a better player, so leave Wilshire out and bring someone on to push the pace of the game and press the opposition. Welbeck worked hard, but lacks quality, fine if you surround him with quality, but England have a distinct lack of that.}

15 Jun 2014 16:25:03
Ed01, Absolutely spot on. I was crying the whole match yesterday. If people are showering praises for his one single cross. Any decent Winger would do that all day in training. He is Either played as a Striker or Benched.

Agree0 Disagree0

We don't press, we allow the opposition to dictate the pace. Too easy to play against us and as Didi said on twitter it's as if we won the game the amount of positivity aired on the back of last night!
Lambert should of come on last night and maybe we could of made something from the set plays

His fitness seems to have vanished to me.

Gerrard and henderson vs Veratti. Pirlo, Marchisio.

What you expect?

Agree0 Disagree0

Excellent analogy Ed001.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wellbeck runs, wow credit to him.
That's all he can do, but that's what subs are for.
Sturridge
Ox Barkley sterling.
That should be our attacking lineup it has pace trickery, the players are confident and i'm form.
Rooney is an excellent player but isn't and hasn't played well for England so why should he play?
If we need a goal, by all means bring on Rooney, if we are defending a lead, by all means bring on wellbeck, but you should start an attacking player purely because he works hard.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally correct conbicks, this tournemantnis too short to rely on reputation and if roy doesn't grow a pair before thrusday we'll be out!

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jun 2014 11:49:10
Ed01 is SO right. Watching England play the way they played smacks of rank incompetence in terms of tactics by the coaching crew. Ian Darke and Macca (commentators) kept say over and over again that if no one takes charge of Candreva`s marauding runs (Rooney seemed uninterested in helping Baines), England would be punished and any football with half a brain cell knew that the goal would come as a result and it did.

We all knew that Pirlo was the man to stop and that Italy doesn`t really play with wingers and use their fullbacks for wing play. Yet stupidly, Woy sets the team up to ALLOW Pirlo to pick his passes at will and showed no real desire to close Marchisio (or anyone for that matter) down for the first goal. Rooney and GJ were rank aweful and Wilshere should never be on the field for Engand because he`s just as aweful when he came on because he only plays when he has the ball and does nothing else.

England will struggle at this tournament mightily if they don't make some tough decisions like dropping Rooney and GJ as well as getting the tactics right because the next game vs Uruguay is as they say here in the U.S, a "Win or Go Home" affair.

With Rooney being rubbish it might be prudent to play Ricky Lambert v Uruguay. If Luis is fit enough our entire forward line could be on display for the world to see.
In theory, there could be as many as EIGHT Liverpool players on the pitch on Thursday. SUAREZ, COATES, STERLING, STURRIDGE,
HENDERSON, JOHNSON, GERRARD and LAMBERT!
Maybe NINE if you count Lallana!

15 Jun 2014 13:30:08
what are your thoughts on the transfer committee, seems an unpopular opinion but I think they're doing a great job. rodgers has identified his targets and often they haven't come good. the targets the committee found are the ones worth raving and I think the fact rodgers doesn't have full control is good. but I think that there will always be a little friction there unless rodgers learns to fully trust the transfer team. so what are the eds thoughts on the committee and should rodgers have more control?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - committees are never good idea. If you want decisive action you always have to have one man taking charge, which is what has happened this summer. Nothing to do with the committee at all.}

Can you elaborate, ed01, what has happened this summer? Also, what is your opinion of Lovren and Shaqiri as targets, I enjoyr your little player overviews and haven't read them for those two particular players.

Cheers!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - surely it is obvious? Rodgers has been given more control due to the team's performances last season. They are just working to his plans, as it should be. There is little point just giving a coach players, they need to be players that suit his way of playing.}

15 Jun 2014 15:26:59
Ed001, please indulge me. What do you mean when you say: "If you want decisive action you always have to have one man taking charge, which is what has happened this summer." Are you implying only one person has made transfer decisions for us this transfer season as opposed to previous ones? Ed002 gave a list earlier that included Ian Ayre, Dave Fallows, Brendan Rodgers, and two others. So who's the main man this time?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - the committee are working to Brendan's plan. Which is why it is not still arguing about who to go for and is instead trying to sort out the transfers early. The committee still exists, but they are just following one man's lead for now. A committee needs a decisive leader, or it just gets bogged down in discussion and does nothing.}

15 Jun 2014 13:10:15
Ed001,
Here's a potential poll of the day question for you :
Can Glen Johnson play his way to a new Liverpool contract playing for England in the World Cup?

Contentious probably but, for me, he was the stand-out of the England back 6 (4 and 2 x holders) last night.
Helped tremendously by Welbeck, admittedly, but food for thought for those wanting to get rid of him from Anfield?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - seriously? He was awful. Are you sure you actually watched the game? I won't even dig at him for his crossing being so wasteful, as he did his usual 90% of the time and just ran into traffic in the centre, when the space was out wide, and the awful cross he produced in the second half was likely to be down to the fact there was no grass in that corner of the pitch. But his overall play was terrible. He was out of position constantly and has to take a massive portion of the blame on the second goal. If he had been covering his centre back, instead of day dreaming, like a full back is taught to do, then there would have been no goal. The only thing he is doing is ensuring we are stuck with his obscene wages for yet another year.}

No juicer, if anything he has hastened the need to replace him. Constantly falling asleep and putting the defence under pressure, giving the ball away or running into crowd scenes. Not unlike most of his performances for us really. Quite how he gets into either team the mind boggles, he has cost us points and is doing the same for the national team. Oh well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Glen Johnson was never the best defender and now he is slowly losing the attacking threat in his game for which was the only good attribute he had. I don't think he scored or assisted for us last season nor created many chances. As much as we need to sort out the Lb situation I think the rb situation needs sorting as well.
Fresh in the memory is his performance against crystal palace where he basically directly at fault for 2 goals.
I do not expect BR to give him a new contract

Agree0 Disagree0

So tired of seeing Johnson play for club and country!! PLay anyone else please! Milner would do a lot better and actually track back to help out too

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jun 2014 15:11:20

15 Jun 2014 15:21:03
as an off-shoot to this topic would Ryan McLaughlin be in the running to replace Johnston this season or are the plans to loan him out again for more experience, I hear he is well thought off.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he is well thought of, but he struggled in his loan spell last season and it is likely he will go out on loan again. Though he is likely to get a chance to change that in preseason, as is Wisdom.}

Johnson's good going forward, but not so good at defending.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - not so sure he is that good going forward any more, he has become predictable. If there is space inside, he runs inside until the space is closed down. When there is no space inside, he stops and dithers, then plays the ball inside. It is very rare he runs round the back of defences and gets to the byline. He is offering us little width and little threat. Me nan would say he is neither use nor ornament were she still alive and knew anything about football. Which she didn't, which is why she was a bluenose....}

Baines was not worse but was left without cover. For the goal he was left with two men to track and couldn't get to the crosser in time. but he needs help and was left, I think by welbeck

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jun 2014 16:30:08
Johnson was absolute rubbish. Baines was even worse But he got very little help from Rooney who was horrible.

Agree0 Disagree0

Woeful last night, slow tracking back, didn't cross a decent ball and lost possession numerous times. Get rid now please

Agree0 Disagree0

Johnson was rubbish, he is so predictable it is unbelievable, Flano would have been a better choice and I think he has a good chance of making himself first choice for Liverpool in that position next season

Agree0 Disagree0

Johnson did stand out your right.
However he stood out for being absolutely dreadful, how you can say he had a good game I have no idea.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yesterday we lost the match because of Baines, he was aweful, the right winger was constantly passing him in every attack. Johnson however played ok with some errors as usual.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed001, I think you may be being a little harsh on Johnson with regards to the second goal. He was following a runner. But I agree wholly with the fact that most of his performance when he had the ball was very poor. But it is either him or Phil Jones, so we are definitely lacking in that department.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Woy should have taken Clyne and Flanno, no issues then.}

15 Jun 2014 13:06:14
World cup watch: I know it was only one game and I know we are not looking for a rb but what about serge aurier's (Ivory Coast) performance last night? I think we'll hear this name again for sure

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - yes, of course we will, as he has been telling fans on camera that he is signing for Arsenal in the summer.}

Oh so this is the young rb from the french they are talking about.
Gotta admit wenger has an eye for talent

Guys, if you even remotely pay attention to French football, he was probably the best right back in that league. Its not his first good performance.

Lads, stop with the sign Blind comments on seeing him against Spain. He did really well don't get me wrong but Ron Vlaar looked great too and you know how bad he can be. Holland have a weak back line but played well and Robben was on fire. His dad Danny would have been a good buy 15 years ago, but not his son.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

15 Jun 2014 12:59:03
Danny would have been an excellent signing but more like 25 years ago as he was 37 15 years ago.

Hi i'm thinking about br transfers moses, cissoko, sakho, mignolet, allen, borini, aspas etc and personally I don't rate any of these but I was wondering how br feels about other people at the club buying players surely it must feel aweful. Over the last few years we have had some terrible signings not just br but kd, gh, rb all bought sum rubbish players my question is if br doesn't think a certain player would improve the team but the other people do how can this work out will he pick these players over his purchases or would fsg start telling him who to play thanx

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - FSG won't be choosing players nor picking the team.}

15 Jun 2014 09:48:15
Loathed as I am to judge a player on one game, I thought Lallana completely proved my point about him last night. He's not world class he's not a £30m player; he's a decent premier league player. He doesn't have the ability to change a game. At that price I'd say there are dozens of better options.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

15 Jun 2014 10:16:11

Nothing like making a judgement on a player for 15 mins.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ken you are a great contributor to the site and I agree that Lallana is over priced. But judging his ability based on a 15 minute cameo alongside a very knackered team with Rooney at the focal point making absolutely no attempts to create space or get in behind is extremely harsh.

Agree0 Disagree0

Harsh Ken but I agree about the price. I think your right a Raj, good player but not worth anywhere near 30 mill. I have to say I saw a bit of Borini in him last night, looked a bit out of sort with the symbolic 'skip' after losing the ball, a good indicator that he's thinking to much but as East Midland Scouser says, he did cone on as a sub and the team were tired.

Agree0 Disagree0

Let's be honest Adam, Lallana is good but not £30m good. I would prefer we spend that on our defence.

People forget the most important point. Its not the case with Lallana being over priced. We just don't have that money to pay for him or anyone.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes Jessie, but lessons need to be learnt from previous transfer dealings. We can't afford to spend £30m on a player who may or may not come good. We need to buy players who we know will definitely make a difference and keep us at the top for years to come.

Don't know about you but I would hate for us to spend silly on average players only to finish 5th, 6th, 7th next season and end up in the same scenario we have been in for the past few years.

Red Rum

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - there is no such thing as that. Every transfer is a risk.}

Can't remember Lallana coming on, I fell asleep briefly haha

Agree0 Disagree0

Harry its not just you and EMS who have been saying Lallana is over priced, I said ages ago that his position isn't the most crucial we need to address (a wide player like Konoplyanka for me) so if I happen to mention it again please don't put me in the "follower" category as the sheep on this site is one of things that do my cap in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Joke post! 15 minute cameo appearance, have you watched Southampton at all over the last 2 season?

He creates all the time. Maybe you should judge a player on how good he is on fifa, just as respectful as your 15 mins.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jessie, there is over paying and and then there is getting your pants took down and your arse smacked, he is over priced!

Agree0 Disagree0

Wrong with this one Ken. He is an excellent player and you say not world class.name an english player that is?

We are good in this country and saying we have this and that world class player but really we don't. Gerrard was and I rate him very highly but you only have to watch pirlo to see the difference and NO I am not having a go at our players but our media builds them up so much.

Currently I would say Sterling has a good shot at becoming truly world class and sturridge could possible if he sorts at his distribution a little, but still not there yet. Rooney. Not nearly.

Agree0 Disagree0

T : I have watched Southampton now and again and every time he has looked decent. Let's face it the premier league is not the top level, it's harem scarem 90 mph see who makes least mistakes. At this top level, he looked out of depth. If you read my post I said - "proved my point". My point has been made over the course of the last 2 seasons.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jun 2014 17:12:35
15 mins Ken - give the lad a chance. It's always hard coming on as a sub, never mind in the bloody jungle.

As for your point; nil and void until he's had a decent run at it.

Agree0 Disagree0

For me Ken said nothing too outrageous, I agree Lallana isn't world class and isn't worth £30m if that's what Southampton are asking, and I agree at that price there will be dozens better in and around that figure, the only thing I wouldn't totally agree on is I actually think he can change a game, I suppose how often would be the £30m question.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'll eat my hat if he makes any major positive impact at the World Cup.

Agree0 Disagree0

When will people learn. A players fee is dictated by how much his parent club feel he is valued at. To them, he's a 30 million player, to us he's a 20 million player.

And really. It's his first world cup appearance and it was 15 minutes. Give him a chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

You always seem to have tto pay more if you are trying to buy an English player. I would never pay anywhere close to £30 million for Lallana. Its too much. We should just move on to our next target.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jun 2014 09:45:53
according to all the papers(if you believe them ) were signing; Caulker - 8m .Lovren - 15m, Markovic - 20m, Shaquiri - 15m, Firmio - 15m, Sanches - 27m, Lalana - 25m, total- 125m plus Dela Ali - 4m? and no left back if Moreno deal falls through. Suggest Danny Blind as alternative after what I saw against spain, much better prospect, price I have no idea, perhaps 6 -8m! All told nearly 140m, minus selling players Reina, Agger (reluctantly) Johnston (cant defend), Assaidi, Borini, Suso, Coates, Cody, Aspas, should get nearly 50m for these giving us a total spend of bout 90 m plus signed Lambert 4m, Can, 10m? gives us 104m .We earned 99m from pl last season minus crowd revenue, sponssership etc so its doable and please buy Boney as a bonus .! my wish not bad squad in total.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hey Ed's, supposedly Liverpool offered 25m for lallana but soton wanted 30 so why is it being reported by everybody that they are holding out for 25m when it was believed we offered that. what would be your preference from sanchez, shaqiri and lallana. Sanchez looks amazing and also had a good opener in the world cup.

{Ed002's Note - I have no intention of discussing money.}

@ Harry

You say Bournemouth is Sothampton's problem when it comes to the Lallana deal?

You are quite correct, they are but Southampton will still demand the value they rate Lallana at plus the 25% on top of that which is owning to Bournemouth.

So let's say Southampton want £30 million for Lallana then one can add another £7.5 million which is the 25% figure to make it £37.5 million which LFC will need to pay.

Even if Southampton valued Lallana at £25 million then they will still expect another £6.25 million (25%) on top of that taking the fee to £31.25 million.

It could end up like Andy Carroll again so I cannot see FSG taking a risk by paying over the odds and having financial repercussion again.

One does not know what is still going to happen but using the logic above, Lallana most definitely is not 110% nailed on to join LFC.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - This simply isn't true. Please just stop talking about money.}

How can you all be pushing for the club to spend a huge amount of money "£25 Million plus" on a player that most of you had never heard of until last season, he is 26 Yrs old and has only just been given his international break, to me he is a Good player but he is not worth anymore than £12 - £15 Mill very much overpriced for what's been achieved thus far

Ed002

I am just using reported info. I am not stating anything as fact.

All I am getting to is that the Lallana deal is most probably is out of our reach at this point and is not 110% nailed on.

{Ed002's Note - All of the numbers are rubbish. That was my point.}

Yes I agree Mutley.

English players are overpriced deal with it.he is quality and would be a fantastic signing

Just because you haven't heard of him doesn't make him not worth the money

If Reported, Liverpool had 2 bids rejected for the player and the player wants to push through a move to us. BR being the biggest admirer of him. BR taking the club to 2nd place which is out of the world for Owners.
They would get him the player he want.
Emre Can and Ricky Lambert are BR'c pick.
Lets forget the money here. Its just the matter of days.

His nationality is not a good enough reason to pay double his worth. It means squat. I'll take shaquiri over him any day. He's a good player but even 20mil would be overpaying

We would meet their valuation. We had 2 bids rejected, We will meet it for sure.

Just my opinion, but is it just me or is Rooney tremendously overrated. Absolutely disappointing result, England should have done better. I thought the Liverpool players represented themselves very well however. Sterling was especially good.

Stelling was poor. His decision making and crossing was shocking!

15 Jun 2014 01:31:50
Are you joking Abaka? Sterling got man of the match

Agree0 Disagree0

Sterlings decision making deteriorated as he got more tired from the heat as well as the sheer amount of effort he put in, he was terrific, roy completely abused him in not taking him off, he's only 19 and it was clearly his time to bow out about 70 minutes in.

Agree0 Disagree0

If I were manager I'd sell him and buy someone with less talent but more heart but alas we are stuck with him at international level. However if he can't play in the no 10 role, he should be on the bench as we need a proper left sided player. Same old result at WC, naive and unlucky.

Agree0 Disagree0

Some of these replies are rediculous. Sterling played extremely well, hence the reason the players kept trying to get the ball to him. England also played really well in difficult conditions. They will have more luck against Uraquays defence.

Agree0 Disagree0

Amazingly, I agree with you on this one Irish a Rover.

I don't know why I get my hopes up with England, I know what's coming, we all do! so my advice is don't expect anything! and then you won't be disappointed.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

There was always a strong possibility of England losing this game, why is everyone getting so downhearted. I still maintain that England have upset the odds if they escape this group, which looks very likely given Uruguay's result earlier.

Italy beat us and they looked like a team of old men, Rooney apart from the cross was awful, team selection was awful too! Welbeck? are you kidding me? well anyway, I thought the Liverpool players played well! ok maybe not Johnson . kkkkkkkkk

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Don't get me wrong I'd love to slag off some of our rivals players however I thought Welbeck was OK to good. He won a number of balls and was an outlet - Rooney apart from the pass from the goal was the weak link.

I was happy with the Liverpool players performances as well; Henderson was unlucky to come off.

Agree0 Disagree0

Same here Hoola, didn't think welbeck should start but he done ok to be fair to him.
Of our players, Johnson not as bad as I was expecting but was still wasteful at times, sterling and sturridge very good, Gerrard Henderson pretty good.
Rooney poor, I was urging Barkley on but hard for him to do much in so little time and Wilshere no time really but wasted possession to easy.
Better than previous England performances and felt for them which is unusual as they are usually boring and void of ideas.

Agree0 Disagree0

The Liverpool players did well but I feel Gerrard being captain and all really has to step it up on this stage if England are to beat the top teams. Pirlo was almost faultless with his play. On the whole England played well, raheem was impressive and well supported by welbeck and sturridge.

Agree0 Disagree0

Very harsh on Welbeck. He had a good game and was miles better than several others in the lineup tonight.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree Alan, Johnson did OK. I thought after Sterling (if he improves year on year then its frightening how good he will become) Sturridge and Henderson looked very good.

Disappointed with the loss but that's the most we've ever attacked a high ranking team in years; fair play to Hodgson, cause for optimism.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gerrard was weak in a two man midfield and a three adding Wilshere or Barkley would add more energy and drop Welbeck or Rooney

For once Harry, I agree.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rooney should have gone off for lallana at half time . The formation could have stayed the same with sterling down the middle ( best player by a mile until he was changed to go wide ) I also think hendo was class not sure why he was taken off . I know it's sounds biass but the proof was there for all to see

Agree0 Disagree0

Apart from the cross rooney was poor, how an international for over 10 years can't hit the goal from 7 yards out is beyond me. Playing on reputation rather than any kind of form . He will no doubt play for the 90 minutes of Englands next two games.
