Apologies Eds for a long post. I have no idea how to post articles anymore!

I was recently asked to do some player reviews and after a 2 year break, I figured I'd give it another go!

I hope you enjoyed the read and thank you for taking the time out of your day to do so. Let me know your thoughts.

{Ed033's Note - Thanks MK Scouser, i posted it on our articles site:

Liverpool - The need for a left sided centre back article

15 Jun 2017 22:18:48
Good article MK! Can't say I know much about cbs but left sided with strong leadership/ organisation seem to be our most needed criteria. From your article Gibson seems to be the best shout but with all England players there will be a percentage add on on fee!

15 Jun 2017 22:21:45
Nice one MK. I was told Hoedt is pronounced as Hood in Dutch, I always said Hoad.
I don't know when you wrote the article but John Brooks has now moved to Wolfsburg. He's now the most expensive American soccer ball kicker.
A good read.

15 Jun 2017 23:12:59
Awesome work MK, i really like the idea of Omar Colley. I am sure he would be a fans favourite but i don't know how he would fair against some of the more intricate attackers in the prem. Still i would love to see him replace the likes of klaven to give us a genuine alternative. I true warrior.

16 Jun 2017 01:31:04
Hopefully this post goes through and I'm back to business, sorry for whatever I did to get banned, anyway great article mk, look forward to more!

16 Jun 2017 02:39:00
Nice MK. Surprised to see Brooks on the list. As an American I get to see him on occasion with the USMNT. I have seen both the good and bad. Can be dominant buy seems to have lovren'ish moments. Could be do to his backline partner but when he has Cameron they have been decent.

16 Jun 2017 17:25:11
I use OneNote to create my own database on players. If I see a game online and decide I like the look of a player I do a bit of research and make an effort to see him again so I can put together an informed opinion. I focus more on subjective analysis now though as a big criticism of my old articles was the heavy use of facts and stats, with very little opinion. They were a bit preachy and boring if I'm honest.

I probably should've double checked my research though seeing as Brooks has now been snapped up! Must've been recent because I added him to my database in March. Apologies if any of the other contract lengths have changed. I shall cross reference my next article with latest information.

Thanks for the Hoedt info though! I can say his name in my head now haha!

15 Jun 2017 22:09:10
Good article MKS. Well done and thanks!

15 Jun 2017 22:53:20
Cheers Razor. I'll try sort something on left backs for Saturday. I've got about 15 noted down so I'll him it out haha.

16 Jun 2017 01:07:24
Hi. First time poster but a red for 43 years.
In regards to MK post I would like to ask If Gibson is 4/ 5 what score would you rate?
1. VVD and 2. Sahko.

Surely with the stupid money being quoted for centre halves Sakho comes way out on top and has Premier league and European experience.

I wish Klopp would give him another go.
Tks in advance.

16 Jun 2017 06:41:31
VVD has the aerial prowess we lack, is good on the ball, and has more than enough pace to hold a high line. However it is another player with no leadership qualities and who prefers to play on the right. Probably a 3.5/ 5.

Sakho on the other hand is good at winning headers even if you don't know where they will end up, good on the ball even if he looks ungainly, has plenty of speed in the high press, reads danger superbly, and is a great leader at the back. Factor in that he prefers it on the left and winner! Like Brooks though, his injury record is poor so I can only give him a 4.5/ 5.

I do wish Klopp could build some bridges there though. We have a top player on our backs and he will be forced out just to prove a point. The point has been made by exiling him for a year. A good manager would bring him back into the fold having taught him a lesson and improved him as a player and person. Not that Klopp isn't good, I just think he is being too stubborn.

{Ed025's Note - you make sakho out to be franz beckenbauer MK when actually he is more bambi on ice for me, hes a trouble maker and you are well shut of him mate..

16 Jun 2017 09:35:24
Gibson a 4/ 5 and VVD a 3.5/ 5.

I don't want to be inflammatory with my opinion about that so let's just say I disagree in the strongest possible terms.

16 Jun 2017 12:15:27
I was thinking about something. Lovren was brought in to replace Sakho, right? Do you all remember this? So maybe, just maybe, the problems with Sakho (on field and off field) predate Klopp and most of us don't know exactly what has been happening in the dressing room or out of public view? Why pin everything on Klopp's stubborness? Maybe the club has simply had enough of his antics (whatever they may be? ) .

To be clear, I'm a clear supporter of Sakho, and my past posts will show it. Unquestioned leadership potential, and a solid football player despite his own unique quirks. But in a team sport, attitude is everything. And if this guy's attitude is way off then it's a giant minus to all the positives he has. Bad attitude spreads like a disease in the dressing room. A title winning team (Chelsea) collapsed the next year because of bad attitudes everywhere, only to regain the title the next year when the issue was addressed and resolved.

16 Jun 2017 17:33:55
Good read mate.

15 Jun 2017 20:41:19
If we don't receive a ban, I really hope we are informed soon.

The players return to training first week of July, then off to the Far East on the17th.

A good pre season is really important not only for fitness levels, but also for new players to settle in properly with the team and their new environment.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - There has not even been a descison about an investigation yet.}

15 Jun 2017 21:01:52
Hmmm,
If it's talking them this long to decide if we are to be investigated, we could be in for a long ride.

Not good.

15 Jun 2017 21:41:15
Hey Eds do you know what the mood is like around the club in regards to this possible investigation?

It seems to me that if they are close to an agreement with roma, as is being widely reported, then they are optimistic that nothing will come of it.

Surely if the were expecting an investigation they they wouldn't try to pustules through any deal because the evidence is apparently stacked against them.

I've probably answered my own question here but I'm not ITK like some of my fellow posters and just wondered if you guys may have some insight.

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - It is unrelated. I have tried to explain what has happened and nobody here seems to undertand.}

15 Jun 2017 21:59:35
I think I understand, they haven't even decided if there will be an investigation yet so carry on as usual (apart from don't break the rules)

16 Jun 2017 17:29:33
The evidence against us is not what some on here would have you believe. We upset Southampton, we apologised. That's the end of it. They can't prove we did anything wrong which is why there no investigation and no ban. Out of respect we have pulled out of a deal because we had upset the other party, touch of class from Liverpool if you ask me. (Not saying that is right just trying to look at it from a different perspective. Everyone seems so quick to condem without knowing anything about it)

15 Jun 2017 19:12:01
Hello ED002, was just wondering if our dealings in this window will be affected by the low value of the pound in comparison to the euro?

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - It means some purchases will be more expensive, so yes.}

15 Jun 2017 17:48:43
Hey ed002 just reading true your replys there. do you think the vvd deal is dead with no chance of it been resurected?

Believable3 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - RTFP.}

15 Jun 2017 20:09:03
No new news on this yet Daro, still some chance of VVD.

15 Jun 2017 20:24:25
Cheers Bobby đź‘Ť.

16 Jun 2017 17:26:07
The club has said we have ended interest. Surely that's that.

15 Jun 2017 16:58:29
A big fan of the shark pods? Any new names in the mix right now Eds apart from Soares, Salah etc that weren't mentioned in the Liverpool sharkpod?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - They weren't mentioned because Liverpool cannot get the players they want and are stumbling around looking to buy others.}

15 Jun 2017 17:14:09
Shed any light why we can't get our targeys ed?

Is it down to price?

Vvd was other stuff, has that had a knock on effect.

{Ed002's Note - Done to death - VDD, Brandt, Sessegnon.}

15 Jun 2017 17:23:18
Edo2 why do u think this is? Because of the people in charge or just circumstances of the players? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - It has been done to death.}

15 Jun 2017 17:57:18
Tapping up, wants game assurances, previous tapping up seriously pissed off fulham with 2 people in particular not wanting to do business with us.

15 Jun 2017 17:58:07
Good grief, guys! No wonder Ed02 gets fed up with answering the same questions a thousand times. Just read the posts, sheesh.

15 Jun 2017 16:56:13
Definition of irony.
Posters saying klopp will find us hidden gems like he did at Dortmund.
Posters shooting down every low profile or non "marquee" player mentioned 🤦🏼‍♂️.

Believable23 Unbelievable3

15 Jun 2017 17:20:32
Same old mate.
Everyone loved it when we got rid of BR and bought In Mr. Klopp.
2 cup finals and 4th in the league with only a handful of buys is good going by my book.
He will get it right at Liverpool. It's just about trust and patience.

15 Jun 2017 17:49:27
Its called opinions Benny. Everyone has one.

{Ed025's Note - some of us have more than one irish.. :)

15 Jun 2017 17:56:04
I don't know what hidden gems you can get for anything below 30m to 40m right now. In fact, any decent or average players will cost that much (Bolasie and Sissoko for 30m for example) . We got Mane and Wiji for 70m combined and they are both better than many players who are valued as better hence, higher. Let's just let Klopp do hois job and we'll be fine.

15 Jun 2017 18:03:12
Kloops success at borrusia regarding transfers and finding hidden gem was not him but the DOF there Zohr (if im not wrong) . In the absence of Kloop BD is still doing that. There are certain teams who will always find those gems and its nothing to do with the managers or coaches its upto the Dof and the scout setup they have. I really admire teams like Borrusia, porto sporting monacco sevilla how they find these gems.

{Ed002's Note - Zorc.}

15 Jun 2017 20:51:47
Spot on, Crazy. The diff. is that with LFC, Klopp decides and has the final say on who we sign even tho, we have Michael Edwards as the Sporting Director (another name for DOF, IMO) . At BD, I don't think he had the final say as that depended on Zorc's approval or none thereof.

15 Jun 2017 09:08:22
hey REDS!

Just looking over some of Suso's highlights from his time at AC Milan and can't help at think we should never of let him go.

At his time at the club I really rated him (more than Sterling) as a future talent and now he seems to be fulfilling his potential also being linked with a lot of big clubs.

What do u guys think? I know its random but a change of topic I suppose haha!

Believable8 Unbelievable10

15 Jun 2017 09:46:31
A lot of people agree but we're talking 2 different leagues and there's no guarantee he would have had the same impact in this league.

15 Jun 2017 09:50:11
Suso always had a lot of ability but frankly I never saw him as a top EPL player. Pace and style of the Italian league suits him better. He was definitely not first team material here when he was sold.

15 Jun 2017 10:10:00
I remember watching him in the Euros or World Cup U19 for Spain and he played a Xabi Alonso or Stevie G (later in his career) deep QB midfield role.

I think this may of suited him better in a league like the Prem because like you said his lack of pace but his passing range and vision is good and he's deceptively strong.

15 Jun 2017 10:10:34
Aquilani comes to mind.

15 Jun 2017 10:34:04
Dont say thay ron where about to buy salah.

15 Jun 2017 11:04:58
Aquilani was very unfortunate with injuries when we signed him. He actually had a lot of quality. On Suso, I loved the lad but how long has he been gone and is still only showing glimpses that he could be a star. He would not have had the playing time here to develop and it was right for him to go. Sterling is on a different level. Only for we got crazy money for him, he would be one of our biggest regrets.

15 Jun 2017 11:05:21
It's a grass is greener on the other side situation. The background with Rodgers and the fact that Sterling didn't work out make Suso look better on reflection.

If he'd never been our player would he even be on our radar? I doubt it.

15 Jun 2017 11:31:33
Say for example he bumbled his way through inconsistency for two seasons before now, do you think you would have stood by him while he developed into the player he is now? ( and we're not talking about Iniesta here haha)

15 Jun 2017 11:53:39
Italian league is a dead slow league and this who watch it regularly ( full length 90 mts ) match would get an idea. You could literally Jogg and walk through the pitch often.

15 Jun 2017 18:44:38
Suso was a top prospect who didn't get the game time he deserved which caused him to suffer and ultimately, the team to suffer during his final season with us. He would have been a natural player to replace Coutinho's skill and he worked hard. He may never have become a top player no matter what we did, but he certainly merited more game time then he got with us and could have helped us far more than he did.

16 Jun 2017 17:28:42
Hjikle, this is one of my bugbears. Suso was given a good run in the first team, he got far better opportunities than any youth players has since Klopp took over. His problem was that he made little impact when given pitch time whilst Sterling, who was a year younger, contributed from the start.

Suso was always going to be behind Sterling in the pecking order and therefore chose to leave despite being offered a new contract, it had nothing to do with not being given a chance.

15 Jun 2017 07:44:46
Ed1, is there any indication whether we're getting a ban yet? Everything seems to be on hold whilst we wait.

Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am not going to bother him with this. No ban will happen without an investigation, a charge and a hearing. Right now, the Premier League asked for Liverpool to provide further information and aside from an apology about initially lying to the FA again, is where we are. A ban will not come out of nowhere - that is not how the process works. Move on there is no charge at this time - but perhaps there will be - but there will not be any announcement of a ban.}

15 Jun 2017 09:48:30
Things are not on hold because we're waiting for the FA.

15 Jun 2017 11:06:54
They are on hold because we are doing what we always do. can't blame ayre this time.

15 Jun 2017 07:36:42
Eds, any chance Klopp and Sakho could reconcile? Sakho did the months playing for the u23's (and appeared to be a help to the younger players) and then did the loan at Palace and showed again what he could do at centre back.
To be honest, I feel vvd is a good player but not sure he worth 50/ 60/ 70 mil. We will have a lot of games in 17/ 18, I hope, and will need a strong squad (not just a big squad) as I want us to be competitive in all cups. A team like pool should have a second team that should be strong enough to be mid-table premier in its own right.
Don't get me wrong I feel we need to offload a number but we should try and keep some also. Then bring in some to offer proper competition to the first team.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - I cannot answer "any chance" questions but Liverpool have asked his agent to find a buyer, but Palace are not keen on the asking price - which was the easy fix for all. VVD would not be a Sakho replacement - he would replace one of the players registered with the club.}

15 Jun 2017 10:37:02
Really don't see why anybody thinks Sakho is good enough for us. He is a total liability. He has you on the edge of your seat which is the last thing you want from your centre half! As soon as there is an ounce of pressure put on him with the ball at his feet he panics. He's basically Djimi Traore on steroids.

15 Jun 2017 11:03:53
have to agree with Robbie23 if he played for anyone else Sakho would not be rated by any one. when you are defending for a team like palace with loads of players round you and you keep diving in and making last gasp blocks you do look good look at phil jones at Blackburn or Dejan Lovren at Southampton. I don't won't to see Sakho as the last man on the halfway line with the ball at his feet in a Liverpool shirt ever again please.

15 Jun 2017 15:42:10
Spot on, Grino. People just look at other players in this case defenders, who play well in a different system than us and think that they will do well here. The same goes for Keane at Burnley. He looks good cos there are loads of players around him to shield him. That won't happen here so people should stop with these comparisons are they are pointless.

15 Jun 2017 18:46:19
The irony of people who want VVD saying that Sakho only looks good surrounded by 2 defensive lines so he can dive in and make flashy last ditch challenges.

15 Jun 2017 00:36:04
Alright fellow reds!

Aussie based fan traveling over to England for my 30th birthday in august, looking for suggestions on what would be the best experience for the game against palace to help bring in the dirty 30. will be my 2nd time to anfield (first was a glorious 3-0 win over wba in 2012).

Should I go a hospitality package or look to get a general ticket?

Any suggestions of pre-match venues for a few pints welcomed as well!

Cheers lads.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

15 Jun 2017 01:33:18
Ship and mitre is a real.

{Ed002's Note - I assume you have been there this evening.}

15 Jun 2017 08:03:27
Get a general ticket in the kop end. Regardless of where you're from you will be regarded as one of us so have your vocal chords ready.

15 Jun 2017 08:45:30
Thanks lerchy, that's exactly what I was thinking of doing. was in the centenary stand last time high up, still get goosebumps thinking about it, but definitely want the kop.

15 Jun 2017 18:48:26
Personally Id say get a hospitality ticket purely because you know you can get one, and unless you're a frequent traveller back to England you run a serious risk of missing out entirely. The experience is not as good, but it's still better than watching from a pub stool.

14 Jun 2017 23:57:15
Salah done deal, won't be announced until Roma have replacement signed. Not sure it's a great signing but will certainly add another dimension to the squad. On another note, Smalling available for ÂŁ10 million, got to be worth a look, English, international and experienced. Perfect for the champions league surely, what do you think Ed's?

Believable0 Unbelievable18

{Ed002's Note - There is no agreement on price and Liverpool has shown no interest in Smalling.}

15 Jun 2017 02:11:04
Smalling plays for United, why on earth would they sell a player to us. Secondly have you seen him play. No thank you.

15 Jun 2017 03:27:26
I'd rather keep Klavan and have Lovren be first choice CB than sign Bambi Smalling. Awful player with no positional sense and always has a idiotic mistake in him. Replacing Vidic and Rio with pretenders like Jones and Smalling is the reason why the Mancs are not the team nowadays they used to be during Fergie's heydays.

{Ed001's Note - I would rather bring Carragher out of retirement than sign Smalling.}

15 Jun 2017 06:01:10
I would rather pluck Skrtel from a future timeline (maybe 10 years from now which would make him 43 years old) and have him play for us than sign Smalling.

{Ed001's Note - not so sure about that one, that might be going a little too far.}

15 Jun 2017 06:11:33
Haha Ok Ed001. Then u may not agree with the ideas/ alternatives I have in mind if someone suggested Phil Jones.

{Ed001's Note - ah now that's different, I would still pick Tommy Smith over him now.}

15 Jun 2017 18:31:37
Surely Hyppia is first choice.

15 Jun 2017 18:49:35
I'd rather put a traffic cone in place than Smalling. The cone would probably screw up less offside tracks than Samlling too.

16 Jun 2017 16:18:30
I would resign Sotirios Kyrgiakos over Smalling.
