I know its not Liverpool related, but I would be very grateful if the Eds would allow this post to go through. I am going to watch the world cup qualifier between Ireland and Wales in Dublin. Tickets are impossible to get ( tried everywhere for ages ), so what I wanted to know off Irish LFC fans is, what are the best pubs in Dublin to watch the game on a Friday night. Thanks in advance for any info.

{Ed002's Note - More than happy to let this sort of post through. I hope someone can help.}

16 Mar 2017 09:20:40
You would be better staying near the ground. There are a few good pubs there. The Landsdown Hotel is a good spot. For a bit more crack you would be better off heading into an area called Baggot St, its only 5 mins from the ground. Lots of good pubs with plenty of atmosphere for the game.

Sharkopod 12

15 Mar 2017 20:27:00
Heard eds shark pod and glad to see no sign of joe Harte on there πŸ˜‚ My butty must be pulling my penguin., not sure about dembele of Celtic to b honest as I think origi would probably score just as many if not more if he was playing in that league but people obviously rate the kid. haven't seen anything of Brandt but if Bayern are sniffing around him I don't think we stand a chance. Eds do you know if rues could be leaving Dortmund and where his destination could be as I would love us to just make a statement to every other team and get the kid ( him mane and firmino ) front 3 would surely be a big step forward?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Reus may well leave, it doesn't involve Liverpool and who would they be making a statement to?}

15 Mar 2017 22:08:34
Not sure about Dembele? Really? He has all the attributes to make it. Power pace good in the air can use both feet works hard and is young and can addapt to the premier League. The fact that all the top clubs have interest in him sais a lot about his quality. Out of all the players ed002 mentioned in the Sharkopod he excites me the most. I hope we get him although the other teams ed mentioned probably have an advantage. Ed if you can let us no anymore about this I would appreciate it mate. As snd when.

{Ed002's Note - You need to try and forget about getting so exited by young men. Your mother, who washes your sheets, will appreciate this. The players that Liverpool are looking to are also of interest to others.}

15 Mar 2017 23:41:20
Lol nice one ed. Cheers for that πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

16 Mar 2017 08:01:35
Lfc forever,

The player you just described above is also origi. I personally think we need someone a bit more experienced who will likely experience less inconsistency.

16 Mar 2017 16:10:21
I agree with 87. Seems we have learned nothing from previous miseries. Buying under 19's and then polish them to sell on a better money. Arsenal written all over!

15 Mar 2017 20:43:38
U23s update:
We won 2-0 against Chelsea on Monday and it was a very good performance from the boys.
This was the lineup:
Kelleher, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Lovren (N Phillips), Randall (Whelan), Stewart, Virtue (J Williams), Grujic, Wilson, Ojo, Brewster
The goals came from Harry Wilson with a very good penalty and Trent AA with a lovely free kick. The penalty was also won by Trent who ended up being man of the match. He was phenomenal and that's not the first time this season, he has also showed quality and composure when he's stepped up to the first team. It's all about how good he wants to become from here in my opinion. If he has a good attitude, he will constantly be looking to improve which is the way to the top really.
Lovren played 75 minutes so you'd think he'll come into the team against city this weekend. Gomez got another 90 minutes in, he's certainly getting back to his best now.
Wilson's goal was his 25th of the season and goodness knows how many assists he has to go with the goals! Shoutout to Brewster and Ojo as well for their performances and also Grujic for a strong showing and getting back to fitness.
The next game is against Southampton on the 10th of April (there may be a friendly scheduled but I haven't heard anything) .
I mentioned about the u18s being in the play offs and they drew their first game against Man United 2-2 and that is a good result as we were down to 10 men for a long time I believe and we grabbed a very late equaliser.

Is the Whelan any relation of Ronnie?
Sorry for my ignorance.

15 Mar 2017 21:13:04
I don't think so mate.

15 Mar 2017 21:27:23
Very popular Irish name is all mate especially around Dublin.

{Ed025's Note - yeah, he has a partner called dealan...they have shop called ....whelan and dealan.. :)

15 Mar 2017 22:24:38
OK OK just wondered.

15 Mar 2017 23:25:24
DaRedmen I had an idea the other day of doing a weekly post but I feel you could be much more suited for the role!

My idea was to do a weekly review of a youth player adding their basic background their performances this season what their strengths and weaknesses are and if they will make it into the first team?

15 Mar 2017 22:15:35
Ed that was atrocious.

{Ed025's Note - i agree barry, im turning into john bishop mate..

16 Mar 2017 07:37:13
That's a good idea southern red, I've got a busy few months right now but I could probably do it at the end of the season.

16 Mar 2017 08:22:59
Sounds like we had a very strong team out against Chelsea, it's good to hear these names associated with our first team squad too let's just hope a few of them can break in and become established member. Surely TAA must be knocking on the door for a first team start!

15 Mar 2017 20:33:21
Eds do you think we've given up on Moreno too soon? Before we signed him he was seen as one of the brightest prospects in Europe. I know he can be reckless but shouldn't better coaching be making a difference? Surprised he has got barely any chances this season to change klopp mind. Just asking as we are linked with more young left backs what's the odds of us buying one and losing patience like we did with him?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed025's Note - you cant make a silk purse out of a sows ear cyklopps, and thats exactly what he is mate..

15 Mar 2017 20:18:54
Just watching the Monaco vs city game. Some of these Monaco players look good. mendy the left back only 23 making it look easy. Bakayoko he is a monster in the middle two players who would strengthen us. Even lemar who take them in a heartbeat! We need more pace and power what we have been lacking all season. thoughts eds?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

15 Mar 2017 21:45:57
You are the missing the most skilful player, Bernardo Silva.

15 Mar 2017 21:55:33
Didnt think bernado silva was as good tonight. He was outstanding in the first leg at the emptyhad. Bakayoko is an absolute beast in midfield. Is our interest in him legit?

15 Mar 2017 22:03:11
I was so hoping to hear Ed2 say in his latest sharkopod that Bakayoko or Fabinho were coming to us but sadly not. Big reason why Monaco is really giving it to Ligue1 this year. But apparently ManU are sniffing around Bakayoko so we might well see from the wrong vantage point why people are raving about him as the next Kante.

{Ed002's Note - Baskayoko is iof interest to several sides but the high-end clubs have been set back by an asking price well off the chart. Fabinho has been of long term interest to Barcelona who would have liked to have taken him at some point in 2016 but that interest had drifted and they have their eyes on someone else now. Monaco previously made it clear they were open to a sale but interested clubs, includin Arsenal, had baulked at the asking price - set high as part payment will be due to Fluminense and Paulinia - although Chelsea were told by Vasilyev that Monaco want to keep Fabinho. However, this may not deter Manchester United turning their interest in to a firm bid - but the player has suggested it would be Manchester City that he would prefer. I would discount the previously interested Inter Milan and Chelsea but both Manchester City and Barcelona could also show interest - but he is not first choice for either.}

16 Mar 2017 06:17:20
Thanks mate for that. I was fairly certain I had interpreted you as saying ManU were interested in Bakaoyoko but wasnt certain - you really need to work on your Australian so I can understand you better:-)

15 Mar 2017 20:16:45
Hope city are this passive at the weekend.

Hamman says about Wijnaldum "He's got a lot of energy, he can win a ball, I think he's got very good vision, he's a good passer of the ball. "

I've also been impressed by how he protects a ball under pressure.

15 Mar 2017 13:48:56
hey ed
on the pod you mentioned periera and other younger left backs that seem to be more for future development. If the club are unable to bring in periera, are they comfortable with milner as the starting lb again next season. I know you are not in the room, but I was wondering if you had any insight.
Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Klopp seems happy with Milner as he is a regular starter.}

15 Mar 2017 22:04:32
True Ed002 but another person might argue that it just means that Klopp is happier with Milner than with Moreno as a regular starter.

{Ed002's Note - Klopp is not seeing the issues the fans are.}

15 Mar 2017 13:00:16
Julian brandt will sign for Bayern Munich ahead of Liverpool!

Believable4 Unbelievable4

15 Mar 2017 13:26:25
So. Maybe klopp will target a player who actually offers us something different than the 700 number 10s we currently have.

Its like cou, adam and rob all play where theu play becauze we have to fit them all in

In an ideal world we only need one of them in the number 10 position

Hendo gini
Mane firmino/ adam/ phil xxxx
Origi

Only adams probably playing his preferred position.

I don't even think mane was first choice last summer so kaybe our second choice this yest will be betyer suited to our needs. 😊.

15 Mar 2017 14:15:02
He's a wide player with pace not like we need him lol . He's the sort of player we need.

15 Mar 2017 14:44:13
Super, Brandt is not a number 10!

15 Mar 2017 14:49:28
Not fussed to be honest.
He won't solve our defensive problems.

15 Mar 2017 15:14:03
Great, bet we end up with Rafa silva 😩.

15 Mar 2017 15:22:05
Have I missed something ed with Brandt? Few peopke crying he's off to Bayern.

{Ed002's Note - There are other sides interested in Brandt as well. But as I have said if Liverpool really want to make it happen they need to put the effort in right now. Bayern are looking at both right and left wingers right now because they are aware that two other sides have spoken with Juventus about Kingsley Coman and Juve would rather he moved elsewhere rather than to Bayern on the cheap, and Douglas Costabeing a pain in the neck over contractual demands at the moment. Ribery and Robbenm have had short extensions and then will leave - Bayern thought they had the future already in place but right now they are having to look around. And there is still another Premier League side interested in Brandt as well.}

15 Mar 2017 15:27:11
Erm, it's SportsBild. Or have I missed anything?
I mean, it's like getting a tanctrum because "Marca says Real Madrid are in advanced discussions with a chap called Messi. "

15 Mar 2017 16:08:12
Brandt seems a decent young player already fulfilling his potential so I wouldn't have seen him as such as risk as oppose to other youngsters that are more obvious risks that would cost around about the same fortune Brandt would. He's not a number 10 either which is exactly the type of wide forward we need at the minute, but I don't think he should be our only top target, if he is then we aren't preparing well for the summer yet again. I wouldn't be too disappointed if we didn't get him unless the next option is way below his level like Gray for example, who apparently we are also interested in or yet another number 10 like gotze.

Having said that it's no surprise that we haven't acted early and other more attractive clubs have came in with the swoop, this is what we do, we are the wingman. we don't get target A, we get target B or C lol.

15 Mar 2017 16:34:45
Problem is Ron, we are not actually targeting anyone to "solve" the defence problems.

15 Mar 2017 17:37:05
I know Ko Lo, still no point in frittering more money away buying players for the sake of it.
At some point the penny might drop and we might realise we have defensive problems, not attacking problems.

15 Mar 2017 19:01:09
I think we should be concentrating on defensive players as a priority it's no good having all the offensive talent in the world, when you can't stop the ball going in the other end.

15 Mar 2017 19:15:52
Ron,

1. We have problems in Defense. Clyne is poor, Milner is playing out of his skin but we can't expect him to get better. Lovren is so so and Matip is the best we have which totally is 1.5/ 4 for the 4 positions.

2. We have too many attackers but of average quality.

Only Mane and Couts (when on form) are very good.
Henderson is solid when he plays.
It's like 2.5 or 2 good out of 4.

Firminio, Adam and Wijnaldum are one tier below.

3. No fit strikers. Origi is still potential.
Sturridge is good but he is always injured or doesn't suit Klopps style of play.

4. Less said about both Gk's the better.

The less we think of the team the better. They look like we need complete overhaul and another season in transition.

Cheers.

15 Mar 2017 21:31:26
Supermane, from what Ed002 said it would seem our second choice for the left wing/ forward position is possibly Rafa Silva, with Jacob Murphy or Malcom being further down the wish list.

Whilst I disagree with you on Brandt (who is a left winger/ forward by trade) I do agree that our second choice may be the better player. Rafa Silva (assuming he is second choice) is far more first team ready than Brandt in my opinion.

15 Mar 2017 21:41:38
Hope we don't end up with Oxlade Chamberlain.

15 Mar 2017 21:43:12
Kol Lo, yes we are. We are interested in the Schalke CB Nastasic and the FB Ricardo Pereira (who can play RB or LB) and are looking to move Clyne if possible, for another RB to come in. As for Brandt, not sure if I believe this story but we must move quickly if he's the guy we want.

I won't be surprised if he went to Bayern as that is what young German players mostly do just like Nicklas Sule and Sebsatian Euddy (young talents from Hoffenheim) have signed for Bayern already for next season. I'm sure Klopp has other names on his scouting sheet so as long as who he brings in will improve us, not too bothered who he is.

15 Mar 2017 23:50:31
Lol Dennis, There is a good chance we might end up with Milner version 2.

15 Mar 2017 10:32:56
Happy birthday Liverpool football club, you've brought me happiness and pain, since my very first game in which I saw you play, the 1974 FA cup final, my first live game, lookout for a limited edition Liverpool shirt to commemorate it.

Hey sid, this has gone a bit under the radar today. Happy birthday to the grearest club in the world! We won the league and European Cup the first year I started supporting Liverpool. sadly the thing I remember the most was losing the FA Cup to Man U. God I love it whenever we beat them! Ronnie Whelan's goal in the milk cup final is probably my favourite ever Liverpool goal (that and a John Barns header in the FA cup against Aston Villa.

15 Mar 2017 21:40:39
Happy B-Day to my Aesome LFC family. I started watching LFC in the 80's and saw the likes of Kenny, Rush, Whelan, Johnston and all the rest. I will always love and support this great institution come hell or high water and NOTHING will ever change that. Red Till I'm dead!

Just saw it. Hysterical.

There quite a few on youtube where carras wanted to smash his head in. One is actuslly called redknapp has an annoying habit lmao.

16 Mar 2017 00:44:26
samikewell: lol, mate. Firmino a "tier below"?

When Bobby is on form, he's easily our best overall attacker, Mane included (who brings pace, but is not as creative nor the focal point of the attack the way Firmino is) .
