I would like to see Liverpool sign Thibaut Courtois.
Liverpool don't really have a descent back up keeper and although he is only 19 he has been Genks first choice keeper for over 2 years, and has 40 league starts under his belt. he is over 6ft'4in and would be available for around £2M. Genk are one of our feeder clubs so we have first refusal on the player. much better than all our young keepers and would be a great understudy to Reina. Courtois has been linke with other top clubs across Europe, so Liverpool should act soon. Ed I know its a long shot but do you know of any interst in him, or any other goal keepers? and do you know anything about the player? {Ed002's Note - Nothing at all I am afraid.}

I am very sad. The odds are against Liverpool qualifying for Europe.

Tottenham have to draw or lose against a poor Birmingham.

Liverpool must beat an improving Aston Villa away.

When was the last time Liverpool did not qualify for Europe ?

I am wondering how many of you actually seen the match. It wasnt televised and how many knew where to look in the internet.

Hi ed's, great job. .
just a quick question. .how serious was the jan approach for Richards?? I know there was an offer/ enquiry but were DM and KK expecting anything or was it hope and see??
he has been outstanding for Citeh this season.
cheers

B3nLFC {Ed002's Note - I don't know how "serrious" it was per se, the only relevant thing would be if there is still interest and I don't know that there is right now.}

I heard we had a £20 million bid turned down on deadline day myself . .

We managed to attract Suarez and Carroll in january despite at that moment in time, european football, to be fair, was out of the question.

If we don't get european football next year, so what? I don't think that will hinder our progress in the market. Look at some of the players other clubs have managed to sign. Clubs such as Everton, Newcastle and Sunderland have signed very good players without such allure. (Bilyaletdinov, Ben Arfa, Gyan, respectively). Why can't we do the same? We are an even more prestigious team, with respect to those three clubs.

We were never going to sign the majority of players people on here suggest with or without the europa league, so there is no disappointment.

As long as we've got Kenny signature I'm confident next season.

We'll get 2 wingers, a LB, and perhaps a striker and a centre back.

GK: Reina, Gulasci
Sell: Jones
Buy: none

RB: Johnson, Kelly
Sell: Degen
Buy: none

CB: Carragher, Skrtel, Agger, Wilson, Ayala (Kelly if need be)
Sell: Kyriakos (sp)
Buy: Cahill (maybe - probably not vital)

LB: Flannagan, Insua
Sell: Konchesky, Aurelio
Buy: *a first choice LB* - Everton not budging on Baines, Newcastle not going to sell Enrique. Unsure of who as of yet.

RM: Shelvey (unless loaned out), (Kuyt if need be)
Sell: none
Buy: *first choice RM* Forget Lennon, Navas ect. Honda perhaps next January. Might be Larsson.

CM: Gerrard, Lucas, Mereiles, Spearing
Sell: Aquilani, Poulsen
Buy: none absolutely necessary. Adam not likely anymore. Parker to remain in London, probably with Hammers.

LM: Cole, Maxi
Sell: El Zhar, Cole IF Young/ Jarvis signs.
Buy: *First choice LM* - Marveaux looks to be done. POSSIBLY Young/ Jarvis. A. Johnson/ Dzudzak (sp) is not an option unfortunately.

ST: Suarez, Carroll, Kuyt, Pacheco
Sell: Ngog, Jovanovic, Eccleston (loan)
Buy: *another striker possible* - POSSIBLY Long/ Rodellega.
NOT nor NEVER going to sign Aguero, Benzema, Neymar, Sanchez ect. dream on.

15 May 2011 23:18:45
I believe we should buy Baines, Adam, Mata or A.Young and G.Cahill and we could challenge on all fronts next year, move Glen Johnson to right wing.
. Reina.
Kelly. Cahill. Agger. Baines.
Johnson. Lucas. Gerrard/ Adam. Mata/ Young.
Carroll. Suarez.

15 May 2011 22:59:45
Luis Suarez
I am very sad about the match. We couldn't play as we normally do and we lost, but we are going to fight until the end.

Muy triste por el partido, no logramos hacer nuestro f tbol y nos cost la derrota, pero seguiremos peleando hasta el final.
ED I HAVE LUIS SUAREZ IN MY FACEBOOK. LOTS OF PICTURE AND COMMENTS OF HIM BEFOR AND AFTER MATCH. CAN YOU PLEASE CONFIRM HE IS IN FB OR FAKE ONE. PLEASE POST AN ANSWER . THANK YOU {Ed001's Note - I would expect it to be a fan page, but the quotes they would use are most likely to be real quotes from him.}

15 May 2011 22:55:32
Ed after watching today game it is quite clear we lack a technical mc and a player who is quick, smart passes and a bit of guille about him as we looked poor today, and why is it when carroll plays we just hit long ball all the time

PLAYERS NEEDED

C/ B= SAKHO-18M
L/ B= CISSOKHO-15M
D/ M= MATUIDI-8M
M/ C= MARTINEZ/ SISSOKO-15M-13M
AMRLC= MATA-22M
AMRLC= MARIN-17M
AMRLC= YOUNG-15M {Ed001's Note - because we don't have width, we lack width more than anything, it won't matter who we bring in if the side has none nothing will change.}

15 May 2011 22:53:41
I don't think the Carroll experiment is going to work. The geordie mentaility's a far cry from the scouse culture, square peg in a round hole. Kenny will have his man management skills put to the highest test there. Carroll likes to be one of the lads and I don't see him slotting in with Gerrards circle off the pitch. The frequent trips back and forth to Newcastle will impact on his game and undermine his dedication to the cause. Panic buy in my opinion to obtain a striker to keep us away from the drop zone, the bigger pictures provided question marks.

15 May 2011 22:42:28
I think we could get some decent players from the current teams in the relegation battle.
West Ham: Rob Green & Scott Parker
Wigan: Nzogbia
B'ham: Dann & Johnson
Blackpool: Charlie Adam {Ed001's Note - you use decent in the loosest sense of the term then? ;o)}

15 May 2011 22:41:08
Ed do u know what happens to Birmingham's Euro place if the are relegated.

Not really sure on the rules.

redsoldier {Ed001's Note - nothing happens to it, they would just play in Europe, hence why Blackpool fans are getting excited as they are pushing Fulham for the Fair Play League place if Spurs get in through the league.}

15 May 2011 22:38:44
Earlier poster suggested we had a £85m budget. He quoted:
Mata - £20m
Marin - £15m
Young - £15m
Cissokho - £15m
Sakho - £20m

If this happened I imagine we'd line-up like this?

- - - - - - - - - - -Reina- - - - - - - - - - -
Kelly- - - Carragher- - - Sakho- - - Cissokho
- - - - - -Gerrard- - - - Lucas- - - - - - - -
Young- - - - - - - Marin- - - - - - - - -Mata
- - - - - - - - - -Suarez- - - - - - - - - - -

Or would Carroll play? I personally think the side is stronger without Carroll, and that his main use is as an impact sub to hit it long to.

Imagine the creativity and Flair in the front 4 above!

YNWA! (Adam)

15 May 2011 22:34:03
With West Ham now relegated, I think we should move for Demba Ba! He would be a good squad player for us, he can play across the front line plus he made our defence look pretty ragged earlier in the season.

15 May 2011 22:21:59
last 3 goal score agenest us is shoot from out side the box. after see the 2 goal in our net agenest fulham my worry was Van Der vart he is master to doing it. I tell that to one of my friend after fulham match, after the spurs 1st goal he tell me to work under Kenny :) H. Rednap who saw Liverpool vs Fulham match clearly mark our weak point. very sad to lost this way. even a draw can sucre our Europa.

15 May 2011 22:11:36
In a nutshell the tactics were wrong today, insomniac Rednapp did a number on Kenny. I posted on friday that we were in desperate need of an enforcer/ governor in midfield suggesting Cattermolle as a suitable candidate but was criticised for the suggestion. The incompetence in the midfield today in my opinion only served to illustrate how desperate we are for an enforcer as Modric ran the show. Why wasn't he closed down? Why didn't either Spearing or Lucas husstle him. Spurs boxed off Suarez and Carroll leaving Suarez little room to manoevre and our midfield sat off Modric & co and invited trouble. Outplayed today by an half decent footballing side which exposed our frailties and rained on the parade. I think the optimism should be reigned in a touch as Rednapp came up with a solution to subdue the football we've been producing and we didn't have any alternatives on the bench to give Spurs something to think about. In my opinion Carroll contradicts the fluid style of play we've been producing, Kuyt was put on the right to make way for him and it didn't work. Kenny got it wrong today. Lets just hope he has the correct temperament when the bars raised on expectations next year and the pressures on. £60 million isn't enough for the overhaul required to seriously push for a top 4/ title challenge and now we've fluffed Europe, will we attract the right type of player?

15 May 2011 22:06:48
We are :
7/1 - to get Michael Owen
2/5 - to get Ashley Young
12/1 - to get Leighton Baines
7/4 - to get Charlie Adam
10/1 - to get Rafael Van Der Vaart
12/1 - to get Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
11/4 - to get Niko Kranjcar
25/1 - to get Didier Drogba
5/1 - to get Sergio Aguero

Interesting about VDV , Kranjcar , and Aguero ! What do you think Ed ? {Ed001's Note - odds are nonsense, they are artificially set to stir up a market these days. That is why one bookmaker dropped the odds on Robben a few windows back to stir up some frenzied betting when they weren't getting enough money.}

15 May 2011 22:06:01
Sorry to see west ham go down . .the prem will miss u . . . . ynwa

15 May 2011 22:05:00
I think the main reason we lost was because neither one of our central midfielders created anything. Neither Spearing or Lucas actually helped us in the final third. Compare that to Spurs, Modric was there star. Everything good they did was through Modric. If we had Modric in our team we would have walked that game. We were the better side but lacked that creative spark. Ref did us no favors either.

I think Modric is the best central midfielder in the league ATM, Ed you agree with me? {Ed001's Note - he is certainly one of.}

15 May 2011 22:03:34
Also ED is it true madrid are closing in on Aguero for nearly 75 mil euros?

KOP89 {Ed002's Note - Real Madrid may be closing in but not at that price - 45M euro is closer. But at present the ball is in Juventus' court as they try and figure a deal out.}
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

juventus ed? the team that can't afford £12 million for aqualani? {Ed001's Note - yep.}

Last on motd again,

15 May 2011 22:01:02
Howard Webb should have his referees license revoked after that performance. It was a clear example of a jumped up Manc taking advantage of a situation to stick the boot in on us. I've not been that angry at a game for a long time.

Hi ED.

nOW WEST HAM ARE IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP, WHAT DO U YOU THINK THE CHANCES ARE OF US SIGNING PARKER AND UPSON.

iF WIGAN ALSO GO DOWN, DO U THINK WE COULD MAKE MOVES FOR N'ZOBIA AND MOSES.

FINALLY IF WOLVES GO DOWN WILL WE MOVE FOR MATT JARVIS. THESE PLAYERS I THINK WILL HELP US AND SHOULD BE CHEAP TO GET {Ed001's Note - none of them are good enough.}

15 May 2011 21:48:06
Just a silly question. after the game i saw Shelvey carrying a child. is that his sister/brother or his kid? :p

15 May 2011 21:47:58
All this talk about Carroll and how bad he was today, he's a waste of money etc. Is nowhere near the truth of what caused our defeat today. I actually think that Kenny got it wrong today. He should have kept Glen on the right and played young Flanno at LB, like he did at Fulham (which worked perfectly). Carroll should have never have started imo, with Raul being injured i would have started with Shelvey instead of Andy. And kept the tactics the same, and the momentum going from Monday night. Andy isn't fit and would have been very handy to bring on in the 2nd half, no matter what the score. If Hodgson had've done this and changed a winning team, especially after Monday's performance then he would have been slaughtered (especially from me).

But who am i to question Kenny? Still i thought he got it wrong today. But even the best have bad days, no one's perfect.

Blair Mayne YNWA

= = = = = = = =

Blair:

I agree with you on Carroll and you probably know my opinion of him. But I can understand why Kenny had to use him, we paid 35m for him, the owners were there , if he is fit, he has to play . simple.

15 May 2011 21:41:51
Just like to say the highlight of the game today was the streaker , andy Carroll giving Suarez the mouth sign not good at all plus far to many supporters talkin of drinking till early hours with £35m striker ( not good ) . Man of the match with a HOLLYWOOD performance MR HOWARD WEBB #fergiesrentboy

15 May 2011 21:38:23
Ed what do you think is better being in the Europa League or not ? {Ed003's Note - For me Europa}

= = = = = = = = = = = =

Just like everything in life , there are advantages and disadvantages to every situation , the advantages of Europa:
1- Money , a club like ours can make a good 10->15m if we get to the semis or final.
2- Like it or not most most players prefer to be playing in a european competition , we will find it harder to convince our targets to join us for pure domestic football
3- Europa will give a chance for few of the kids to get them selves involved at a competitive level

Now advantages to No Europa:
1- no distractions of thursday night football
2- less chances of players getting injured (I know I am scrapping the bottom now).

so as you can see, Europa is better then No Europa, there is a reason why Europa places are not selected randomly .

Roy

15 May 2011 21:12:21
Lets stop all this carroll not fit rubbish, you don't feature on the bench against fulman monday then be fit to start today , carp he was not on bench monday because he was in town fighting after the newcaslte game FACT, after today's performance he might be better fighting , cause what i have seen is nowhere near £35 m of footballer , he is not even close to being a liverpool player.

Ed I have to say the referee was terrible today from what I saw :
1.Kuyt should have got a penalty !
2.Dawson clearly dived when Suarez was nowhere near him !
3.The Spurs penalty ! Deary me what have you got yourself into now Mr.Webb ?!
4.Sandro could've got sent off.
and Carroll missed an open goal but that wasn't the refs fault (At least I don't think it was)! So that's 3/4 bad decisions ! ? cheers.

If liverpool don't get european football next season there will be no marquee signings just average players comin in. The so called quality players will only sign for clubs that have european comp next season. Have to be realistic now that european football seems out of reach for next season.

15 May 2011 20:40:04
Any news on deals nearly done?

15 May 2011 20:33:00
Cannot believe the amount of fans on here havin a go at Carroll. The best thing about the result today proved the squad lacks quality in front of the owbers. Dalglish & Co has got the best out of what he has.

15 May 2011 20:31:32
Ed heard a rumour today that might have something to it.

Apparently Kenny Dalglish is looking to sign Howard Webb? He's been involved in a few of our games this season and Liverpool have yet to get the best of him which has tempted Kenny into bringing him to anfield.

What do you think of his season ed? Any idea how much we could get him for?

15 May 2011 20:31:24
Ed who was the special guest today at the match
Cheers

{Ed002's Note - Probably best not to go there Omar. Assume it was the owners.}

15 May 2011 20:12:21
I think we'll smash Aston Villa. . I think Spurs will Draw with Birmingham. AV have got nothing to play for against us, Birmingham have got premiership survival to contend for next week!

Sean Long to Liverpool - Straight swap for N'Gog
Why on earth would Ngog want to go to Reading! Think about it will ya. .

15 May 2011 20:06:46
tbh i think LFC should buy A young to provide service for carroll and suarez should drop off and be a second striker. also i think we should sell johnson, lucas and and other players who are just taking money and not actually doing anything and buy richards from man city and also look to buy a techniqual midfielder to work well with stevie g

thoughts ed?

15 May 2011 20:05:53
We were out done by a dodgy penalty and a wonder goal. . nothing's changed for next season - all we need is serious pace on those wings and that's it for me. . oh yeah and a class centre back. . and a future replacement for Gerrard. . oh, and a back-up striker. . oh yes, and a quality left back!

If I had to choose though I'd just go for at least two quality fast wingers. .

15 May 2011 19:59:08
So in the end, was agueros agent at the the game.

How can I describe him? Starts with c, ends in t. {Ed003's Note - Carrot?}

15 May 2011 19:53:16
Players to be sold (any idea of prices ed?):
Jones
Konchesky
Aurelio
Cole
Jovanovic
Kyrgiakos
Ngog
Poulsen
Aquilani
Degen
El Zhar
Insua

Looking for a solid left back, squad players in centre back and midfield, two strong wingers, and a couple of squad strikers and possible goalkeeper

Reckon the team could look like this:
Reina
Johnson-Carragher-Agger-Enrique
Young-Gerrard-Lucas-Mata
Carrol-Suarez

Subs
Ospina
Skrtel
Kelly/ Flanagan
Spearing
Meireles
Marveaux
Kuyt

What do you reckon eds? {Ed001's Note - we aren't going to get much for the players we want rid of, even those with a contract.}

15 May 2011 19:53:07
Not on here to slag any players, as a team today we were average, and in truth Tottenham as a unit, defended well, Dawson and King were extremely solid.

What I will say is that once again a team who came to Anfield with a rigid and solid defence highlighted our inability to break down teams. In light of our "improved" performances in recent weeks, many people have come on here and questioned whether or not we really needed to add to our squad? well the answer is - definitely Yes! I still maintain we need width (obvious), out and out winger (or two), and two other midfielders, one with trickery and guile, and the other, an ultra mobile defensive midfielder.

A look at our bench today showed our lack of real class, I will put my hands up and admit that I thought Joe Cole was a good signing (even though I had reservations about his lack of pace), however he simply hasn't and isn't up to the job.

Lucas Leiva and Jay Spearing have done a wonderful job in recent weeks however today they were simply outpassed and to a degree out-smarted by Modric and co; both are fine players and have improved immeasurably, yet their shortcomings are that when the play requires intricacy and that "special" through ball they come up short. Yes we missed Steven Gerrard, however Stevie can't and won't go on forever - Hazard, Defour, M'Vila or Matuidi required?

Andy Carroll was simply not at the races today, does it make him a bad player or a waste of money? certainly not, he simply had an off day. Maxi seemed to "slip" back to his "Roy" form, and was woefully ineffective, but given his lack of pace I wasn't totally surprised he didn't preform, especicially when we tried too often to find Carroll early instead of passing and trying to mix the play.

Suarez was once again outstanding! Outstanding in the sense that he keep going for the 95 minutes with virtually no service.

Johnson and Flanagan were arguably our best players!

In summary I believe we need five to six high class players to come in over the off season - a Centre Back, possibly a Left back, a Defensive Midfielder, a Creative Midfielder, a Winger (very wide Midfielder - left), and a Striker.

This is **e***** speaking
I was desperate for us to win a cup for the first time in six years, but at the party afterwards I didn t feel as if I d played a role .naturally I congratulated the lads as much as I could and was happy for the club and the fans, but I wasn t too bothered about my own medal. I could quite happily have thrown it to the supporters and left it in the crowd . A disappointed Michael Owen, not after having played a bit part in Manchester United winning the league in 2011, no, this quote was ten years earlier after Liverpool beat Birmingham City on penalties in the then Worthington League Cup Final, with Michael having spent the final warming his posterior on the subs bench. As a young footballer a place on the subs bench did not sit well with Michael, though as his career has progressed he has become accustomed to the role.

Now, some ten years later Michael Owen having made nine league appearances as a substitute, and one league start, scoring one goal for Man United is tweeting What a feeling! Been a while since I won something. Privileged to play with these players and under this manager. Could be a heavy night! ! followed by Thanks for all your support. Just need a Champions League medal now to complete the full set! . Owen has played a total of 27 minutes in the Champions League, 2 appearances, no goals and I have more chance in playing in the final against Barcelona than he has. So unlikely as it seems for United to beat Barcelona, Owen would be quite happy to boast on twitter that he has a complete set of winners medals if the unthinkable happens on 28th May, my how times have changed. Empire of The Kop summed it up in a recent tweet when Antoine Zammit said Michael makes an excellent cheerleader for United.

So what has caused the sea change in this player who was adored and broke many Liverpool fans hearts in the Summer of 2004 when he left Anfield for the Bernabeu. Apart from the fact that he has sold his soul to the devil and pulled on a Manchester United shirt, pardon the pun. Where did the Michael Owen of 2001 go, have his principles changed, or is he rightly clinging on to the chance of some success in the twilight of a career which went into free-fall the moment he drove through the Shankly gates for the last time in 2004. Michael has been goaded by our fans for leaving a season too early to go and win things , in turn missing out on a famous night in Istanbul and the Champions League medal he now covets. Owen s spells at Madrid and Newcastle United in the following five years where littered with injury and a lack of trophies. Whilst there were times since he left when it looked like he might have made a prodigal return to Anfield, it was never right for Liverpool and in particular Rafael Benitez who doubted the players ability to stay injury free and perhaps also his commitment.

With the likes of Stoke, Everton and Bolton knocking at the door as Michael approached 30 years of age and Newcastle relegated to the Championship, Liverpool never came calling this time, yet Sir Alex Ferguson did. The rest as they say is history.

With Michaels bit-part Man U career now synonymous in United s 19th League title win and his subsequent love of tweeting all things Man United, how will he be remembered when the dust has settled on his career. It is almost a surety he won t be at Old Trafford next year and over two seasons with circa 29 league appearances and 4 goals for them I don t think he ll me making after-dinner speeches at Old Trafford or taking up an ambassadorial role like Neville in his later years. The sad thing is that after 297 appearances and 158 goals as a Liverpool player, and having won everything bar the EPL and CL, he ll not be doing these things at Liverpool either, having well and truly burned his bridges with the club he signed for at 16 years of age. I am sure Michael won t be on the bread line, having earned millions in his football career and with his subsequent interest in horse racing. Nevertheless, I am sure he would have like to have been affiliated to one club with a legendary status as their player. Not forgetting he is derided also at St James Park with Freddie Shepherd recently saying on Talksport that Owen was the worst deal he did in his tenure, due to his injury plagued spell there.

Owen complained in his autobiography of 2004 of a lack of love from the Kop versus that of Robbie Fowler, a working class local lad, as opposed to himself being a Chester boy. He may have felt that a bit watching from close quarters, but as far as I was concerned and millions of others, Owen was a Liverpool hero and one the finest goal scorers in our illustrious history.

Michael may hammer a further nail into his Liverpool coffin before long by signing for his boyhood love Everton in the Summer, not to worry though, the worst has already happened. I am sure even the great King Kenny isn t brave enough to try and rebuild the bridges burned by Owen and Liverpool over the past two years. Sad, that one of the Liverpool greats from 1997-2004 will be remembered now for all the wrong reasons, as a traitor and a Manc

best team in british football history fact. {Ed005's Note - Certainly argueable whether this United team are the best in British football history. I certainly think it would extremly silly for any Man Utd fan to perhaps claim it to be better than the '99 team. As for the most successful team, well that's Liverpool.}

In a strange way today's loss is probably long term a blessing in disguise, I shall try and explain. We have had a fantastic 4 months under Kennys giudence he has brought stability and a sense of confidence back around the club, players and fans alike are walking around the place with smiles on there faces something that's being missing since Istanbul.

But the appointment of kenny back in January was a shrewd move by the owners probably the biggest thing to happen to us in the last 20 yrs. After a disastrous ownership from the previous regime where the club was dragged through the mud on more than one occassion.

Kenny and the new owners understand that Liverpool are currently at best a top six team, taking nothing away from the last four months performances. Yes we have beaten Man utd Chelsea and Man city and drawn at Arsenal without the likes of Gerrard Agger Johnson but kenny knows for us to be even in with a chance of getting back into title contenders we have to buy quality buys this summer. This summer is going to be the most important summer spending the club as done in the last 25 yrs, kenny and the owners will spend the cash but they won't be held to ransom. The club will go back to the old days and do there business behind closed doors, they will buy players who WANT to play for the club and players who fit into the club.

Remember Kennys no mug he knows our first current eleven is good and shows promise and he knows we have a bunch of young talent coming through the ranks but Kennys wise enough to know that we must add 3-4 quality 15-25 million pound footballers to be considered title contenders again.

Today's game was merely a reminder that we are a team in transition, on our day we can beat anyone but we can also lose in the same breath. I believe with Kennys guidence and some quality signings in the next couple of months the good times are just around the corner, roll on next season.

Just listened in to 2 LFC officials walking out of Anfield and apparently Young is 100% a target but not a done deal yet. And also (you heard it here first) they were talking about KK and Comolli lining up a deal for Arsenals Theo Walcott. They said it could be likely he will join as Walcott is a lifelong liverpool fan.

{Ed002's Note - This is fantastic news only tainted by it being posted from Bedford half way through the second half of the game against Spurs.}

On the official fa premier league website if you look at the form guide we have moved up 1 place to top spot, i know it is only a small crumb of comfort but it bodes well for next season. Only if we moved up one place in the official league standings everytime hodgson lost us a game we would be flying!

I was being ironic considering Reina's so-called reputation as a penalty-stopper. I can't remember the last time he was even near saving one! ! !

Rooney's penalty in FA cup, Kenny's first game in charge.

Being ironic I meant when was the last time that he actually SAVED one.

The one you mentioned just happened to be another present from Webb.

Next week we play Aston Villa who have nothing to win or lose - Spurs play Birmingham who are desperate for points so with a bit of luck we might gain a Europa League place.

Today was bad day but it was needed to analyze what is really required.kuyt nd Maxi are not wingers nd it proved today we need at least LW nd RW nd also left back nd maybe another holding midfielder apart from that it was fine. Team needs to have 2-3, different formation options before we can compete for CL nd for this we require players. .we play as team so if anyone to blame for then its whole team nd tactics nd not single out caroll or kuyt as when they score same people will sing praise .its football things happen nd as a supporter we need to be behind our team nd if you can go to villa park next week to show our support nd end season on high with better future waiting for us . .

Andy Carroll will be a legend for this club, so he didn't have the greatest game today you weren't complaining after the man city game, he's just come back from injury, it was about giving him and suarez game time together for next season. leave the signings to kenny and dc you people sicken me with your negativity. we can't win 15-0 all the time like football manager.

Hi Eds,
Whats your view on Europa League qualification??
Im worried!

On 1 hand, having only domestic competitions to focus on in theory should help us focus on an assault on the top 4 and get back into the Champions League.

On the other hand, Im concerned that losing out on Europe will make it more difficult to attract the better quality players to help us get back into the top 4.

With all the top 6 in the Premier League looking to improve squads in the summer, having no European football may hinder us in getting the players we need.

What do you/ all think?

Oh and I just wanted to say, Well done Flanno. Thought you had a strong game today and seem to be a tough wee lad, throwing yourself into tackles and attacking hard especially in the 2nd half. Peno decision was suspect at best and I thought you deserved the benefit of the doubt

I hope we stop playing long ball, when Carroll is on the pitch. We were better without him. Omg, we wasted 35m, on for which we could have signed a really top guy. i hope, Carrol bucks up now and try harder in the next season. Hope for a liverpool win and spurs draw or lost on final day.

15 May 2011 18:28:36
I thought today we saw the importance of Meireles ro this team. I thought Saurez fizzled out late on and after the bad peno decision we seemed resigned to defeat. Don't care about euro footie but I do care about finishing ahead of Spuds and if euro footie is the cost then that's the price. Congrats to Luis on getting a winners medal with Ajax.

we were completely sub-standard today. Nothing new, as once again we'd be hoping that birmingham donot let spurs win and we win against villa on final day. I hope it happens, but am disgusted why we didn't try our best today. From Torres to gerrard, we have now become Meireles to Suarez team. I hope we get the best result on final day. As Euro spot is still in reach.

15 May 2011 18:11:21

** No Europa League.
** No traveling far distances. (Macedonia, Turkey)

[P.S. As well as finishing in the top four (maybe winning it)]

Tatics were all wrong playing against a 5man midfield of spurs were never gonna work with 442
with two 30 year olds on the wings. just shows our team has been over achieving. Atleast we brought back down to earth. hope we marin and young.

As for carrol, i was neva certain about him always wanted llorente. i hope we get 1 more striker just incase lol for next season.

Whats with the Carroll hatred. . I was impressed today when he beat two players and won a free-kick on the edge of the box. What ever happend to getting behind the team. Fickle fans annoy me, they wern't complaining vs Man City and suarez missed a chance or two today although did play great again -Mc

15 May 2011 18:07:28
Firstly before everyone starts ripping into Carroll, he was probably one of our top 3 players on the pitch today, he had a better game then suarez imo.
secondly ed, do you think kuyt will get a start next season? I mean I admire his work ethic but he has no finished product and has no turn of pace so isn't really much of a threat as a winger. . i feel someone who could actually cross a ball - young, albrighton etc - would be much more effective on that right flank. Whats your view Ed ?
And finally do we have any chamce/have we shown any interest in Marc Albrighton, he is a cracking player
Cheers, Thanks for your time Ed ! {Ed002's Note - I am sorry but it is way too busy to comment in detail right now.}

15 May 2011 18:05:31
I'm no football expert, but I think we played good today, not great but good. We were beaten by a deflected shot and a fould outside the box that was given as a penalty. And Carroll, he really won't be at his full potential without us having wingers that can outrun or go past the full backs whip in a good cross for Carroll and the others to head. And the Dawson way awesome today. I think we also missed Mereiles, is he injured?

As much as I wanted to win today, I really don't want Thursday night football. Before you slate me, saying we get Money from it you only win 2m from it. Where as Champions league you get 33m

DanTheRedman {Ed002's Note - The Europa League can bring about £10M in matchday revenue, additional advertising and prize mone: The 48 clubs embarking on UEFA Europa League group stage campaigns this week will receive increased prize money compared with the rewards on offer last season, when the rebranded competition began life as the successor to the UEFA Cup.
Each team taking part this term will collect a €640,000 participation bonus together with a match bonus of €60,000 for every match played in the group stage. They can add to this total minimum amount of €1m through a series of performance-related rewards, starting with €140,000 per win and €70,000 per draw in their group games.
By way of example, if a side wins all six of their group fixtures they will earn a total of €1.84m from the competition by Christmas.
Progress beyond that point will trigger further bonus payments worth: €200,000 for reaching the round of 32, €300,000 for the round of 16, €400,000 for the quarter-finals and €700,000 for the semi-finals.
The prize money for the clubs that go all the way to the final will be €3m for the eventual winner and €2m for the runner-up at the Dublin Arena on 18 May 2011.
Participating teams will also be entitled to a variable amount depending on the commercial value of their national media rights, their position in their national championship last season, and their performance during this UEFA Europa League campaign.
A side could pick up, at best, €6.44m not counting the market pool share.}

Not only is Carroll slow but he slows the midfield down. No sign of his heading prowess today. And trying any kind of counter attack is useless because he can't run fast and holds the ball up. The usually solid Lucas-Spearing midfield did not play well today at all. I hope Maxi & Cole & N'gog are sold this summer. That penalty foul was definitely outside the box. . and Suarez better learn to stop diving so much and just get on with it. . .

I don't think this was the game to put Andy Carroll back in to. He looked unfit & sluggish. The main reason we've been playing so well is because of our front 2/ 3 moving about constantly - you don't get that with an unfit Carroll. We should of played Shelvey inbehind Suarez (in replace of Meireles). Then with Europa League in the bag, start Carroll v Villa - along with 2/ 3 youth players.

Ahh well, I guess there is some good from not being in the Europa League. Top 4 finish & a good FA Cup run next season would do me!

Spurs' back line have been superb today. just our luck

15 May 2011 17:41:37
Think were just lacking a bit of zip today. Carroll needs to get fit too! that said great goal, and a very very dubious penalty. Probably one of the few things webb has got wrong today if your honest.

15 May 2011 17:41:11
how have lucas kuyt and skrtel played today? this is why the fans who no the game want rid of them! were is the sarcastic irish fella who loves them but slates them ina reverse psycology way! that worked well didn't it! these players are ok for a few games but get found out when it matters and the pressure is on.

15 May 2011 17:38:40
What? they scored it

I was being ironic considering Reina's so-called reputation as a penalty-stopper. I can't remember the last time he was even near saving one! ! !

15 May 2011 17:35:44
When did Howard Webb transfer from man Utd to Spurs???

I didn't think the transfer window had opened yet :)

15 May 2011 17:31:27
hey ed! if liverpool are not in the eurpa next year does that decrease are chances of getting players?? {Ed002's Note - Not appreciably. It saves the Thursday evening games, but means the club loses at least £10M.}

15 May 2011 17:30:41
In all honesty I would like to know where this information is coming from because a few eds in the past have been very wrong and not only that quite volatile when questioned about their opinions. . {Ed002's Note - As you will appreciate, we have no idea what you are talking about. What information are you referring to?}

15 May 2011 17:28:09
Andy Carroll is absolute crap

15 May 2011 17:22:19
THAT WAS THE WORST PENALTY DECISION EVER, ED's WHAT YOU THINK? {Ed002's Note - I am not watching the game but I can see Ed001 heaving the toys out of his pram in front of me.}

15 May 2011 17:17:53
Another brilliant penalty save by Reina. Who's the referee by the way - Ask Ryan Babel!

Howard Webb what can be said? The man is an awful judge and an awful referee. Dogshe*p.

Long time since i last been on,

Quickly wanted to advise that Commoli and scouts are alslooking at no other than Jagielka for Dalglish. Kenny will have final say

P.S- which ed is the previous "Ed"?

I said it a couple of weeks ago, it just doesn't work with carroll playing as much as i wish it did, they don't look half the team. 5-0 birmingham 3-0 newcastle 5-2 fulham, with carroll not starting them, surely they should be beating out of form spurs

15 May 2011 16:47:58
First half. .

Saurez trying to get himself sent off.
VDV's goal taking slight deflection off Johnson then looping over Reina.
Carroll missing the target by miles.
Maxi diving for a pen. .
Not good.
Let's hope KK gives them an earful!

15 May 2011 16:45:14
Why are we playing 2 up front?? The system doesn't work with Carroll, who is playing poorly anyway

15 May 2011 16:45:03
This is what I've been saying since Suarez and Carroll were signed, that their partnership won't work out. It's simple. The 4-2-3-1 that we have been using for so long is disrupted. We are now removing a central midfielder, which means less possesion and inability to control the game. People say that Gerrard is disrupting the balance of the team, I think that Carroll is disrupting the balance of the team. Don't get me wrong. I am not judging Carroll. What I'm saying is Carroll and Suarez should never start together. One or the other may come on as an impact sub but never play together.

Keith YNWA

{Ed001's Note - there has been no change made to Steve Clarke's job title, but he is doing the role of assistant manager anyway. As for Sammy, I expect him to leave without fuss in the summer with a thank you for all he has done for the club. But he is not being forced out, I just can't imagine him wanting to stay now he has effectively been sidelined.}
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

thanks mate! though i'm guessing that'll mean another coach will come in to work under steve and take the load off. any ideas, or am i far off the mark? {Ed002's Note - There is already a larger coaching staff than just the three. I don't know if there is any intention to expand it.}

15 May 2011 15:21:08
Ed, do you really think that Enrique is worth the £12-15mill that people are saying we will buy him for.
I think that we should buy a left back with experience at the highest level eg. Riise, Clichy, Marcelo?

{Ed002's Note - It is always tough to call the value of a player. He is a decent player but will probably not set the world on fire.}

15 May 2011 15:17:18

Hi Eds sorry if this has already been asked i just can't find anything in the archives about it

we have a successful Youth system right are any of our youngerstars from the under 18's ready for the step up in the last few months we have seen the likes of Kelly, Robinson, Flanagan come through and having big big parts to play could we not use our youngerstars instead of going out spending £££ when we have bundles or raw meat ready to go also is their any news on Stirling (sorry if its not spelt right) if he is being perpaired for pre-season think he needs a few more pounds and then he'll be class

If Chelsea are only asking £14m for Sturrige, Under Kennys guidance i think he would be a great buy.

= = = = = = = = = = = =

I totally agree with this.Back at the end of January I was hoping that Liverpool would 've accepted Chelsea's offer of 40m + Sturridge for Torres, and not bothered with Carrolll until summer, I think everything would have been done for the same amount of money, ie come this summer Carroll would 've been available for 25m . And we would have had a player fit and ready.
But hay never mind.

15 May 2011 15:12:24
Ed001's Note - his agent is there to deal with Maxi's new contract, he represents both players.}

no he doesn't do your homework ed001 {Ed001's Note - look person without the balls to put a name to their posts, both players are represented by T21plus Sportsmanagement. Don't worry I know you won't have the common decency to apologise, nameless people who put in digs without knowing what they are talking about never do.}

I agree it could be for Maxi (i'm a different guy by the way) but his contract runs out in 2013, so why would he need a new one now?

JMS {Ed001's Note - because he is being highly paid and the club want to discuss a lower and longer term deal or whether to sell him.}

Ed, You sound very negative & very much so like a chelsea fan, why can't you accept that he MIGHT be there for Aguero

-=El Pistolero=- {Ed001's Note - because it was well known he was coming in to discuss Maxi's contract anyway.}

Andy Carroll starts

15 May 2011 15:08:12

15 May 2011 14:26:48
Ed has the Liverpool team been announced yet ? cheers, {Ed001's Note - not officially no.}

15 May 2011 14:37:21
To cut it short, I'm no fan of this "enforcer"/ Makelele player. He's rather limited and hinders the team (unless you're Chelsea and Jose Mourihno, of course).
= = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Possibly THE most insightful comment I've seen on these pages. One of the reasons Lucas is better for LFC than Masch is precisely because he fits the pass-and-move game that Kenny and Barca both know is the best, most effective way to win football matches. Going to ground in tackles may thrill some young (and not-so-young) fans but remaining on your feet to close down, hinder and intercept is far more effective.

15 May 2011 14:28:55
Sturridge would be a great buy for Liverpool he would be willing to be back up for Carroll and Suarez. he has had an excellent half a season for Bolton, with him being young he could be one for the future and he fits NESV transfer policy and is English. I would then like to see Adam Johnson come to the club with Ashely Young for the wings and perhapses Kenny could persuade him to come and turn down Man Utd if at a good deal for the club at around 15 million. I would love Leighton Baines to be brought into sort out the left back problem as it most probably one of the weakest in the squad and a new centre back like Per Mertesacker

I think our new owners are shrewd people but will not be afraid to buy what we need. I agree with the quite approach, what's the point in bragging about what you want to do. .

Don't be surprised if there's a shock in the summer. . I've just got a feeling about these guys. .

15 May 2011 14:12:30
Aguero's agent is one of the v i ps at the match today and before people get carried away he's also maxi's agent who is supposed to be discussing a new contract

15 May 2011 14:08:41
All this talk of a top quality stiker coming in is rubbish - The team has proved since KK took over that we have enough forward 'options' without the need to blow a small fortune on a striker who will expect to play week in week out - Question: Who will we drop to accomodate him??
Never been a huge fan of Kuyt, but he has proved me wrong recently and I cannot see us dropping our new number 7 and 9 on a regular basis!
We need a quality centre back and left back, plus a holding 'ball playing' midfielder and a tricky winger.
I personally would like Alonso back (not going to happen tho) but believe we can get Parker, WILL get Young and, have it from a good source, WILL get Shawcross - No idea about the left back - Dont think Enrique is good enough (just a personal view)

15 May 2011 14:03:32
Ed, i'm watching the chelsea game at the moment and i have been very impressed by the young Josh Mcechren. He will never be sold to Liverpool but just out of interest, how much potential does the kid have? {Ed001's Note - he is an excellent young player, one of England's better performers at the U17 Euros last summer. He can be world class if he reaches his potential.}

15 May 2011 14:01:51
To the people saying Aguero Coming in the summer, can you please tell me where he will play in the team?
Don't get me wrong I would love to see him in the reds shirt but with suarez and carroll in the team our attack
is sorte! I'd rather the money be spent elsewhere LW, RW, LB, CB, CDM, although with aguero the team could be
= = = = = = Reina= = = = = =
Kelly= = Cahill= = = =Carra= =Enrique
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Young= = = = =Gerrard= = = = =Mata
= = = =Suarez= = = =Aguero= = =
= = = = = = Carroll= = = = = = =

Probably a dream team but only spending £85 mil

15 May 2011 13:59:56
Enrique's doing decent so for against Chelsea. {Ed001's Note - remember there is no real right winger up against him and yet most of the crosses in are coming from that side. I fail to see on what planet he is doing decent.}

15 May 2011 13:58:54
FT, 1 on 1 with coloccini coming up to the left side of the box and your thinking he will shimmy to signal cutting in right but knock it forward passed coloccini run in behind and fire it in near post or across goal. . nah, he does nothing and loses possession. It's a shame as he was a great advert for the Premier League and such an entertainer.

15 May 2011 13:54:42
Just watching Torres struggling, out of interest Ed what are his weekly wages at Chelsea ? And what were they when he was with us ?

P.s Liverpool win 2-1 today

Cheers
Aussie red {Ed001's Note - he is on well over 100k now but was on a little under that basic when with us, round about 90-95k if I remember correctly.}

Brothers & Sisters!
I asked myself a question this morning: Do I want us to finish in 5th and end up with fixture congestion and with participating in a not very high profile cup?
But then I thought that the King is very wise and will probably use the uefa cup to blood in youngsters untill the very late stages. . and my answer was "YES". Let's go and beat the Spurs (Don't like calling them Spuds as I am a big fan of boiled ham and potato dishes). Love you all! ! (editors included)

Oh yes so it is ! Sorry about that Ed ! {Ed001's Note - no worries, sorry I am so superstitious, but I can't help it, if I didn't manage to keep to my entire routine before a match I could guarantee we wouldn't win when I was going but every time I did we won. Then there was the time I spilt gravy on my top in the Roy Evans' era and we went on a really long unbeaten run and went clear at the top and I refused to wash the top while we were doing well. I would literally just wear it for the game then take it off and put it away afterwards until the next game. My then gf washed it and all our luck away and we ended up nowhere at the end of the season, 4th if I remember rightly and I still hold it against her and blame her for it!}

Reina

Kuyt spearing Lucas maxi
Suarez Carroll

Everton played in their new home kit yesterday
and Chelsea playng in their new home kit 2day
Will we play in the black kit against Villa???

15 May 2011 13:33:17
My brothers friend has a 2nd uncle whos gran old teacher who has a son whos cousin knowsjohn henry, and he said that we are close to signing all these players and only keeping Suarez!

Shay Given - If Reina leaving he will ideal replacement - experience with 110 caps and have already work with KK in Newcastle
Hugo Lloris - Similar to Reina style cost 18m may be factor and Arsenal and Man Utd target too
Jose Enrique - Liverpool need a Left back with Premier League experience, excellent passer especially with his long accurate passes and his available this summer.
Leighton Baines - doubt he is going to deadly rival. also he self doubt may stuggle in bigger team like Liverpool
Stephen Warnock - Backup Leftback know the setup of old clubs
Pablo Armero - Excellent attacking Wing back Like to defend also attack but Barcelona also after him
Gary Cahill - Transfer fee is the problem need more than 18-20m to get him also Arsenal and Man Utd are after him. Replace ageing Carragher
Philippe Mexes - Free completing his signature with several european clubs unlike to go to Liverpool slow but with excellent vision
Mamadou Sakho - can play CD and LD prefer London - Arsenal
Phil Jones - ony buy him for future but too many young defender around may not get a chance
Charlie Adam - Is he worth 10m do whom need him when we have Meirles which playing similar styles
Moussa Sissoko - We miss Mascherano and Alonso in midfielder he sit just infront of the defense just like mascherano protect it and hold the ball well.
Yann MVila - if can't sign Sissoko his and options strong and excellent defensive palyer
Javi Martinez - Long Term replacement for Gerrard and setup goals and score goals from long range just like Gerrard
Steven Defour - back from broken leg excellent attacking midfielder could sign as to replace ineffective Joe Cole also have good relationship with Comolli but Man Utd could steal him from Liverpool
Joey Barton - just rumours - true scouser too indiscipline
James McCarthy - unlikely to sign while Liverpool got Jonjo Shelvey
Ashley Young need 20m+ to get him quick and can whipping the ball into the penalty area ideal for Carroll latch on his crosses
Adam Johnson - Alternative to Young more like to get him than Young half the price can cut in side from the wing and cause problems to defense
Sylvain Marveaux - He's free and play left winger quick and skillful but problem with groin may need a backup winger.
Matthew Jarvis- backup for Young and Marveaux - good crosser of the ball
Stewart Downing - depending will get Marveaux will cost 12m but doubt with his fitness and injury not create enough goals
Eden Hazard - Great if Liverpool can get him nearly complete attacking player will cost 30-40m but more likely end up in Real Madrid or Barcelona
Gareth Bale - can we afford him 50m
Gervinho- nickname the elephant play left side and up front, strong and quick may need 20m
Diego Forlan - At 31 does he worth £10m Comolli will sanction the transfer because there is no resale value
Karim Benzema - can't afford him cost 30m and wages 150,000pw+
Christian Eriksen- unlikely to leave Ajax for the next 2 years
Ezequiel Lavezzi - bit like Tevez cost 25m prefers staying in Italy or playing in Spain
Hulk - Strong and Physical Winger thunder like shot goals ratio 2games per goals may need in excess of 30m to get him
Jeffren Suarez - Desperate to leave Barcelona to get more game but prefer to stay in Spain already have suitor in Spain alternative to Ashley Young
Connor Wickham - 18yrs old may cost in total £10m depend appearances ones for the future
Romelu Lukaku - the next Drogba more like to head to Drogba current clubs
Xabi Alonso - booker have him on 8 to1 to go back to Liverpool. good bet he still have a house in Chest shire and he still love Liverpool unfortunately his on £165kpw and cost 30m and weather is nicer than merseyside
Fabio Coentreo - ideally Liverpool would like him but too expensive starting bid 20m may end up paying 25-30m
Fernando Gago -Surplus in Real Madrid likely to move on cost 8m but others team will bid will cost 10m option if we can't get Sissoko or MVila
Blaise Matuidi- same combative quality as Mascherano fierce and strong tackler may be double swop him and Dimitri Payet from St Etienne
Emilio Izaguirre - The problems is Celtic want 10m for him
Nicolas Gaitan - another option for left winger but Have to bid more than 18m before Benfica releasing him
Bojan Krkic - pint size forward have to completing with some of euopean top clubs for his signature include Chelsea, Arsenal, Inter, Mian, Juve, A Madrid, Valencia, Bayer Munich and others
Hugo Rodallega - could come in as backup for Suarez Cost 10m will be good buy with good scoring record in PL must fence off Everton for his signature
Arda Turan - dream to play for Liverpool the left winger could be in cost 10m less than some of second choice winger ie Downing Adams and Javis
Nuri Sahin - we cost considerable less than all the wingers Liverpool try to get 6m but have Chelsea and Man Utd are after him might have a task to persuade him to come
Dimitri Payet - another oprions if we can't get Ashley Young or Adams Johnson
Niko Kranjčar - Cheaper option to Young and Johnson cost 7m Tottenham surplus
Charles N'Zogbia - same as Kranjcar with Wigan bearing down relegation wull leave if Wigan Relegated will cost around £10m
Eljero Elia - can play anywhere across the front line with Arsenal and Juventus are interesting may have to bid more than 15m to get him
Balazs Dzsudzs k - another left winger Liverpool is interest unlike to be sign for since several left wingers ahead him
Ryan Shawcross - unless Sktrel leave he won't be consider
Mich Richards - Man City want 15m+ for RB unlikely already have Johnson, Kelly and incoming Flanagan
at the RB position
Addition players may or maynot be Liverpool Player
Brad Friedel Short Term replace another Brad (Jones)until suitable GK move up a scales
Aaron Lennon very quick like Young tend to do too much and lose the ball but frightening the lives of defenders with his pace
Peter Crouch Like to come back and only for backup, it the reason why he want to leave Spur
Georginio Wijnaldum Dirk Kuyt is his hero and could replace Kuyt in the future play right and centre attacking midfield role just like Kuyt. DC have already contact Feyernoord for his availability
Michael Owen - Out of Contract end of season . KK fancy him to come back but fan are not . Would be a backup- more likely head to old boss Gerard Houllier team Aston Villa
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain-if persuaded to come one of the future but prefer to stay in South and Arsenal already offer and given Theo Walcott former saint player may be a factor
Aly Cissokho Quick and Strong Left Back ideal for PL football but Milan is after him too
Marko Marin _ Quick and nipple excellent dribbler but Bayer Munich is after him to replace outbound Ribery
Iker Muniain - Spanish Messi total package will be £35m (£25m up front and another 10m depend on appearances and international games) at 18 bit risky
Ibrahim Afellay Barcelona Surplus. At £6-7m far cheaper then Young could be best buy. Arsenal also keen to buy him too
Phillipe Coutinho could cost £15m Old Inter Manager Rafa influence may be a factor for him to come if he decide to go
Sergio Aguero Maradona son in law will cost £30m Plus but prefer Kennington and Chelsea than Merseyside but can be persuade if given £200k+ pw to go up north like Eastland
Mirko Vucinc another Left Winger haven t play well at Roma and in and out of the team any offer for him- may be a good buy if he capture his form known for his speed and dribbling and abilities to score impressive goals
Mario Gomez did try to get him last season but decide to stay New Bayer Manager need fund to buy new player may attempt with a big offer . Score 24 goals this season alternative to Carroll up front
Gael Clichy Arsenal contract rebel Left back £7m might be good chance signing him cheaper than Enrique also Wenger already found a replacement Mamadou Sakho
Keisuke Honda good backup for Steven Gerrard play similar role and also Asian shirt sales will go up the roof - but several European clubs also after his shirt
Scot Parker short term answer to Alonso great passer of the ball cheap £5-6m
Alexis Sanchez.- At £40m minimum Cheaper to go for Young and Andy Johnson combine
Oscar Wendt Sweden Left back KK and DC already see him play several times could be more likely to come in than other 2nd choiceleft back
Hamit Altintop- Surplus for Bayer Munich desperate to go, can play any where across the midfield cheaper than all the wingers £5m
Carlton Cole since West Ham more likely to go down - he and parker will be going out the door KK fancy him to backup for Carroll-offer of region of £8m + £6m for Scott Parker not a bad buy + they want Konchesky for £1.5m and
Cristiano Ronaldo fantasy football (Cost too much won t have much money to spend on others players )

my brothers friend has a 2nd uncle whos gran old teacher who has a son whos cousin knowsjohn henry, and he said that we are close to signing all these players and only keeping Suarez!

Stamford Bridge is half-empty in their last home game of the season. They're sacking their double winning manager of last season who came only 6 points short from title this year. If they sack Carlo Ancelotti it'd be a shame. They may win trophies but they'll never be a "great" club with that kind of attitude.

I have just got this off my friend who works at Anfield cleaning the dressing rooms and what was said was Aguero will be signing for liverpool! and that a deal has been struck £30M plus jovanovic rising to £40m

Atletico Madrid have a game tonight so I seriously doubt Aguero will be at the Liverpool game.

Hi ed,
Please could yourself or any fellow reds out there give me a good site to watch todays game?

{Ed002's Note - All I can provide is these simple instructions for watching the game via Google Chrome. These instructions are very simple to follow and work just fine:

HOW TO WATCH FOOTBALL ON THE INTERNET (WITH THANKS TO RED LENIN)
1. Install the browser Google Chrome.

2. Look in the top right (your right) corner and you will see a spanner.

3. Click on the spanner and select 'tools'.

4. Click on extensions

5. At the bottom right (as you look at it) you will see 'Get More Extensions >>'. Select this.

6. In the search box type 'Chrome Live Football' and search.

7. Click on Chrome Live Football and then click on install. (it may download to a holding file in the bottom left as you look at it, in which case as soon as it's finished click there, but mostly it will install itself)

8. A small football will then appear in the top right (as you look at it). Click on that, select 'live stream' and reset the clock to GMT and it will list all the live games available all over europe and other places.

You may occasionally need to install other programmes or the link you pick will only work on Explorer (in which case cut and paste the URL into Explorer), but you will always get every EPL match (or any other). Sometimes you will only be able to find it with foreign commentary and sometimes you will get it in English. You'll get about thirty links and you may have to look through a lot of them to get what you want. You will also get most La Liga matches, Greek matches, Italian matches and French matches as well as top matches from South America.

Someone also asked about viruses etc. Google Chrome is actually far more secure than Internet Explorer so the risks are considerably less, but you should have decent virus/ spyware programmes and run sweeps regularly as a matter of course.

The quality will also depend on the speed of your internet connection. If you have super-speed and have a modern HD TV, consider connecting your PC to the TV via the PC socket on the side/ back.

Cut and paste the above into a document and save it for future reference.}

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

The URL is not showing up though, so I can't cut and paste to Explorer?? And why would they have VShare if it don't even work on it?

Hey ed all this talk about Aguero again load on carp. But is there a chance the VIP could be mickey owen out of contract soon no one intresed and would sit on liverpool bench as pay as u play. We be a good back up.

Face {Ed002's Note - What do you mean by VIP here? Are you expecting someone paraded around the stadium in a gilded carriage. There will be guests of the directors at the game, and the owners are at the game, and no doubt the buddies of the owners.}

15 May 2011 13:01:51
I remember the eds saying there was no chance on saurez joining and they got that wrong so maybe these players could be joining but the truth is not even the king knows who's coming yet we've just got targets which enclude Enrique, young and benzema

Attention, attention, everyone. The news we have been all waiting for is just in.
Siamese twin Sergio Ken Aguero has just landed at John Lennon Airport.

He will immediately be chauffeured to Anfield by Michel Seydoux. Greeting him at the entrance will be Pini Zahavi and Franjo Vranjkovic. The three men will then proceed to the directors' box, where they will join Eden Hazard, Alexis Sanchez, Neymar, Nevan Subotic, Javier Pastore and Givalnido de Souza.

Master of Ceremonies Maurizio Zamparini will announce above's attendance 20 minutes before the proceedings get under way.
On the flip side, Madridista Lassana was refused entry at the Airport. He was also supposed to attend.
He was told, however, "too much baggage".

Other than this, the King's Coronation promises to be a real blast. Attendees are sure not to have enough. . Luis Suarez will see to that.

BREAKING NEWS! !

Kun to liverpool for 35m and will be at anfield today!
YNWA!
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Why would he be at anfield when Atletico Madrid have a match today against Hercules? Ed surely this just shows how much s**t people make up on this site. {Ed002's Note - I don't type the posts you know. It was reported that he arrived at Melwood yesterday and will be at the game. I suggested yesterday that readers of KopTalk had infiltrated the site and were bringing their drivel with them. I got shot down of course.}

15 May 2011 12:41:55
is carroll fit to play today?
Nick {Ed002's Note - He is available to be picked as he is not in the injury list.}

15 May 2011 12:40:19
Ed, what would you think of fredy guarin from Porto? Good all round player, Can play centre or right mid, strong on the ball, a rocket of right foot and still only 23/24. What would be porto's asking price??. {Ed002's Note - I am sure Porto could be persuaded to sell. I can't see he has much of a value (less than £4M) when he struggles to get in to teh side.}

15 May 2011 12:39:19
Prediction time ! ! !
2-0 to Liverpool - Dirk Kuyt and Luis Suarez ! ! !
Anybody else wanna make a prediction ???

15 May 2011 12:33:42
Hey ed post this everywhere a Liverpool support will see it.
Hers's a song for kuyt you might like by Tracy Chapman: fast car melody. - "We got a Dirk Kuyt, I want a ticket to any game, maybe he can score a goal, maybe together we can get somewhere, up front is better, starting from the wing he got nothing to lose, maybe he'll score a penalty, Dirk Kuyt got nothing to prove.dadadadaa dada da da da, dadadadaa dada da da da"

15 May 2011 12:33:09
Marko Marin , Juan Mata or Ashley Young

Ed which would you want to see at anefield {Ed002's Note - It is not really what I want, but I suspect Young is the most likely.}

15 May 2011 12:33:06
Some observations :

Neymar - Ridiculously overrated.
Lukaku - Same as above
Hazard - Why the hype?
Sanchez- Could have been a good buy but is going ManCity
Aguero - Please don't think about it.

All the above players are asking for ridiculous salaries through their agent. . .Only one player Sanchez stands among them as one who has produced the goods. He has been phenomenal for Udinese this season.

IF we go for Young and he asks for inflated salary, he is entitled as he has proved himself in English football. At 25 years we will get peak years of service and this may well be his final rewarding contract if he signs for more than 4 years.

But the rest of the names are kids and have proved nothing in major European leagues. So why the hype?? I don't understand.

As far as Liverpool is concerned we may get 2-3 known faces at MAX. . . the rest may well be unknown youngsters. . . .

At last the January window was probably the best period for us in the last 15-20 years as we have really got two really good players for a sulking "overhyped" player who gave just one season to us and thought himself bigger than the club. .

Great work by Comolli, Dalglish and Steve Clarke

Ed, just had some more news about the VIP's today. You can add pastore to the list mate. .

ed i have heard there has benn a fotmal enquiry to scott parker, is this true? Cheers {Ed001's Note - I have not heard any talk of that, I expect him to most likely end up at Spurs if anywhere to be honest. You know how Harry likes to collect midfielders and Parker is a Spurs fan.}

Isn't Parker the young lad from the M'CDonalds advert. doing kick ups in the garden. . wearing a charlton shirt . . the club he supports

Hey Ed's, was sondering how you rate this Sylvain Marveaux as a player. From what i understand its a done deal and a matter of completing paperwork etc when the window opens. Havnt had the oppourtunity to watch him play and i find online clips to be pretty unreliable in judging players (Javanovic. :/ ) . . Any particular premier league player whom he plays like or any idea how much of an impact he will make in the team? Cheers Eds keep up the good work.

{Ed002's Note - I think he is a good player who will be a very good addition to the squad. I am not sure how to quantify "impact on the team" I am afraid.}

Liverpool to pinch good players from clubs who make the drop.

Potential buys IF their clubs are relegated

Birmingham: Larsson, Dann.
Blackpool: Adam.
Blackburn: Pedersen, Jones.
West Ham: Noble.
Wolves: Jarvis, Doyle.
Wigan: Rodellega (sp), McCarthy.

15 May 2011 11:42:10
Skrtel! How bad is he? I wouldn't like to see the goals conceded stats since Kenny took over but im sure they don't make for good reading. Another player for the chop at the end of the season im afraid. These new owners will need to splash some serious cash to replace the likes of Lucas, Kuyt, Spearing, Johnson, Carra, Maxi & Skrtel. Seven players from our current first 11. Can someone please remind me how we are in the premier league?

Anyway, onto todays match! Spurs are a really good team & it was only fitting that they took their rightful place in the Champions League this year. Just have a look at the array of world class footballers they have at their disposal! Lennon, Dawson, Gomez, Assou-Ekotto, Huddlestone, Defoe, Hutton, Bassong, Pavlechenko etc. The quality names just roll of the tongue, so for that reason im going for Spurs to win 5-0 & Hutton to get a hat-trick. Maybe the owners were a bit hasty in giving Kenny that contract & might want to rip it up after todays mauling at the hands of the mighty Spurs. Big trouble ahead boys.

The Irish Rover {Ed001's Note - you are getting better at these.}

15 May 2011 11:37:32
Anybody know what team King Kenny Mathieson Dalglish will put out today ? Ed ?
cheers. {Ed001's Note - I would not even try and second guess him, I remember last time around he was the same, no one ever knew what team he would put out.}

Ed I am pleading to you are you kidding about sanchez and neymar being at the game or is true. If it is it shows the doubters that Liverpool can attract star talent {Ed001's Note - clearly it was a joke.}

15 May 2011 11:35:37
Ken Aguero is also at the game according to my sources close to the club this is true just seen him outside the ground sitting on a cardboard box holding 4 cans of tennent super and 40 b & h gold looks like he's got his signing on fee

15 May 2011 11:34:57
I just got back from holiday last night, whilst away I heard that Dalglish and Clarke had been given 3-year contracts, but can anyone tell me whether Kenny has final say on transfer or not? Cheers {Ed001's Note - yes he does.}

15 May 2011 11:30:44
This is not a rumour as such, but more an observation! I personally don't believe we will sign the likes of aguero, Sanchez, hazard, neymar. .etc However, didn't we, in January, splash 35million on Andy Carrol who realistically is not proven, why is it so unrealistic we would not splash out on one big name player again who is a proven talent? As I say just an observation/ question?! Any thoughts?

15 May 2011 11:26:42
I know Ed002 said Sanchez and Neymar will be at the game today, And alot of people got exited, But to be honest im not bothered that it was a wind up, Because Luis Suarez WILL be at the game today, Way better news than the other two lads anyway.

Come on Prince Luis.

P.S Absolute heroics in the world cup against Ghana, Did what we all would have done (Despite what i called you at the time :( lol).

UCCM

Ken Aguero is also at the game according to my sources close to the club

Ken Aguero might be there but I doubt Kun Aguero will be

15 May 2011 11:24:04
If we would turn down Scotty Parker then why in the world would we go after Charlie Adam?? To be honest the guy doesn't appear to me to be quality at all. Why don't we ever learn our lesson, would you ever see the top three go after Charlie Adam. Doubtful

15 May 2011 11:15:24
Heard ashley young goin to the scum is this true any 1

15 May 2011 11:09:22
ed, would you not agree that scott parker is only really good with smaller teams and would be a flop if we signed him? {Ed001's Note - very much so, before he left Charlton one of their coaching staff said to me he would flop and that he needs to be a big fish in a small pond. I have to admit I disagreed with him and thought he would do well, but he was right.}

15 May 2011 11:07:03
Ed are you being serious about neymar and sanchez being VIP guests at todays game? or are you just pulling our leg again lol {Ed001's Note - he was winding you up before 'rushing off', in other words get you all excited then sit back and laugh while I deal with all the over excited posters.}

15 May 2011 11:04:17
Eds,

Very pleased to be hearing about neymar and Sanchez possibly being at the game today. Do you think this is definitely true? Also what would be out chances out of ten of signing them? A lot of buzz about them today!

Cheers lads (please post in rumours) {Ed001's Note - please mate it was a joke!}

Thanks.

Hi Ed,

just listened to talksports Sunday morning show and a journalist was talking to Micky Quinn and Mark Sagers and he stated we are trying to hijack Man Citeh's bid for Sanchez. . .and we are looking at a fair few options, but we are trying to keep things under wraps just in case Chelski and man Citeh get a sniff and bump up the price.

What does anyone think. . more journalists making things up. .or an ounce of truth. .I know all the Eds on here don't believe we stand a cat in hells chance of Sanchez. .but what if! !

I say bring it on, lets go for these world class players, if they decide against it, their loss

Timmo. {Ed002's Note - And Sanchez will be at the game this afternoon. . }
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I feel a sarcastic reply from Ed 2. . . . assume you think this is made up rubbish from lazy journalists?

We can all dream

Timmo {Ed001's Note - unfortunately journalists have to say something even when they have nothing, which is why every single one of them is so hit and miss. That is one of the reasons I set up the main site in the first place, to enable people to realise just how stupid some of the rumours they spread actually are. We are in quite a lucky position here - we don't need to say anything just because the cameras are on us, so we can be honest, even if it means we get accused of being miserable and putting a downer on everyone when we say things aren't going to happen!}

i was just wondering that the turan story has died down abit , it is more then likely that he will go to atletico madrid , but could lfc be doing tranfer talks behind close doors the lfc way.
cheers
paul ynwa77 {Ed002's Note - A very slim chance. Arda Turan looks Atletico Madrid bound. Talks have been going on for a while and he will move this summer. Dortmund apparently, remain interested but Villarreal have dropped any interest that they had. Spurs have dipped their toe in the water over the player and I suspect Valencia are keeping a watchful eye on matters. I am surprised that Liverpool have not followed up the interest they previously had in the player.}

Or maybe we have our focus on bigger and better players we are Liverpool fc and can attract any player FACT!

I put on yest evening, the VIP guest was today was aguero's agent. A reliable source of an Lfc friend. I introduced him to the site weeks ago, he feels it can b insular & our players get knocked alot, I passed on info. I love it but can border on clicky at times & I'm a regular poster! can anyone absolutely refute any interest in the player? If not it has 2

Seems pretty obvious to me 1st team squad will be swept clean this summer with jones, degan, darby, kyriagos, koncheskey, poulsen, aqualani, el zhar, jovanavic, cole all going ngog and aurellio will probably follow but will like to see insua stay as in a wingback formation he will be great.

big question is who is arriveing
most believable rumours are

LB ENRIQUE / BAINES

CB SAKHO/ CAHILL/ JONES

DM PARKER

ATTACKING MIDFIELDER TARRABAT/ ADAM

WING MARVEAUX/ YOUNG/ MILNER/ MATA/ CHAMBERLAIN

FORWARDS LAVEZZI/ WICKHAM

Liverpool Reserves have booked their place in the quarter-finals after comfortably topping Group A at the International Soccer Sevens tournament in Hong Kong.

The young Reds opened with a 1-0 success over the hosts' U18 side before firing three without reply at the expense of Yau Yee League Select.

The two wins set up a group decider against Celtic in which Pep Segura's team cantered to another 3-0 victory.

The Reds will now face Citizen in a last eight showdown on Sunday.

Liverpool Reserves' scorers so far: Nathan Eccleston (2), Suso, (2), David Amoo (2) and Tom Ince (1)

interesting to see ince still playing does this mean he will not be going in summer ed

Now not for one minute do i think aguero will be signing, but to all the people who are ripping apart the the people who are posting it. is it that unthinkable that we might spend 40m on one of the best forwards in the world. . . when in january we spent 35m on a forward who had only played half a season at the highest level, a player that is not proven, but has potential! point is, we don't no who we are signing, how much fsg will spend or how many players kenny wants to bring in!

Eds, wgat do you think of Peter Odemwingie as an option. 15 goals this season, adapted to EPL, can play in a number of roles including wide and makes lots of assits? Only drawback is he is 29. A viable option for the wingers role left or right and probably relatively cheap?

{Ed002's Note - There are numerous similar options and as you say age is not on his side.}

The Moneyball post the other day was spot on and we know it's what's driving player recruitment. Here's my current list of most likely targets in key areas - nice split in terms of proven Prem experience and young, hot prospects. All gettable - not like half the players linked on the site. I think we'll bring at least £20m in with player sales and possibly as much as £30m.

Brad Friedel - Free
Jose Enrique - £10m
Mamadou Sakho - £20m
Moussa Sissoko - £15m
James McCarthy - £6m and/ or Adel Taarabt - £10m
Ashley Young - £15m
Sylvain Marveaux - Free
Ricky van Wolfswinkel - £9m

£75m- £80m

***Out***

Soto Kyrgiakos - £2m
Alberto Aquilani - £10m
Emiliano Insua - £3m
Christian Poulsen - £1m
Milan Jovanovic - £4m
Joe Cole - £7m
Paul Konchesky - £1.5m
Brad Jones - £1m
David Ngog - £5.5m
Dani Pacheco - £4m or loan
Nabil El Zhar - released
Philip Degen - released
Nathan Eccleston - £500,000
Stephen Darby - £250,000
Daniel Ayala - poss loan
Jonjo Shelvey - poss loan

£30m-£40m

I really hope we don't sign players.

Aguero - Inconsistent player after a bumper pay roll.
Cahill - Overated, slow and a hoofer.
Marveaux - Injury prone nearly man.

I hope we sign these, one can only hope.

Young - Maybe slightly inconsistent at Villa, but LFC could get the best out of him.
Adam - Good all round midfielder who could flourish at Anfield.
Clichy - Class full back who can play in other positions along the back line.

Morning, anyone happy to put up the google chrome meathod for watching the match. I used to have it but had a clean wipe reinstall and can't remember how to do it.

Thanks in advance.
Muzmacol ynwa {Ed002's Note - HOW TO WATCH FOOTBALL ON THE INTERNET (WITH THANKS TO RED LENIN)

Google Chrome is actually far more secure than Internet Explorer so the risks are considerably less, but you should have decent virus/spyware programmes and run sweeps regularly as a matter of course.

The quality will also depend on the speed of your internet connection. If you have super-speed and have a modern HD TV, consider connecting your PC to the TV via the PC socket on the side/ back.

Cut and paste the above into a document and save it for future reference.}

Hi ed and eds.
Fantastic site, first thing i check in mornin and last thing at ngt.
Just wonderin is any of the info bout kun agueros agent true.
Also my ideal signings for summer would be sakho, marveaux, mata, mc carthy and gervinho.
With these 5 i think we can really push on as the squad we have isn't as bad as first thought.
In you could find time in your day to reply it'd much appreciated.
Cheers wex gav

{Ed002's Note - Agents attend games all of the time. Many agents look after multiple players. Typically when they go to a game they will be provided with a ticket colocated with other agents and representatives of other clubs who have requested tickets. If they are there on business they may be provided some form of hospitality. But it is not normally such a big deal. As four the players you mention, all are certainly possible.}

Hi Eds, doing a fine job as always.

Can I request that no more rumours regarding Aguero get posted on these pages? I have been reading this site for a few years and every single transfer window the same people tell us for their "good sources" that Aguero is on the way.

Its just getting ridiculous.

{Ed002's Note - I don't think it is practical to cut out rumours about any one particular player. Numerous people told us yesterday that he arrived at Melwood for talks, some noting he brought his hairdresser (Neymar) with him. Sadly you will have to skip over them until he signs later today and it dies down.}

Hi fellow reds and eds!

Ill tell you something about the aguero rumours.

Ok, maxi a month ago had low confidence, a number of poor performances made it likely that he would leave.

Recently he has been informed that his friend aguero is lfc bound but also that he will be given a chance to prove himself. This has lifted his spirits and confidence greatly and ultimately brought the best out of him. Aguero will be a red next season!

Lfcjohnynwa

*********************************
Are you actually for real. . Seriously, while you were typing that you weren't laughing at yourself?
So basically what you're saying is, because Maxi was suffering with low confidence Kenny Dalglish is gonna spend £40m just to cheer him up? Maybe that's why Dirk is so happy aswell banging in the goals, Kenny promised him Sneijder, Meireles is getting Ronaldo and Lucas is getting Kaka just to make them happy! ! Some people just wreck my head with their rubbish, get a job at a newspaper or something

Can you confirm when the Transfer window opens and do you think we will be quick to nail on our signings or wait to see how the window pans out? I personally think we need new players to develop into our mould because lets face it (and it pains me to say so) that's been United's key to success over the years (giggs scholes et al) Paying over the odds for foreigners just isn't the Liverpool way.
= = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Overpay for horrible foreigners? Hmm, let me see. .Reina for about a third of his current value, Torres for almost 30 millon less than we sold him for; Alonso? Leave off the foreigners mate. .a real football brain would help you understand you should never pay over the odds for anyone. In fact I wonder who will be the better buy, Suarez for 23m or Carroll for 35m? I guess Carroll cos he's not a foreigner!

Look, i don't even know where people have got this maxi/ aguero's agent at the game tomorrow rumour from anyway but to be perfectly honest, no one knows what he is going to be there for specifically. he could even just be there to watch the game of football seeing as his player plays for that team?:L i mean come on. I hate the way people jump to conclusions, however i do think aguero is possible but only at the right price, i can't see us saying over 35 mil for him because kenny has said that he doesn't want greedy players and players at that price are on ginormous salaries! Hope we do get him but for the time being, lets focus on wingers, what we're lacking in! Young will be top class under KK i think and will turn out a bargain at 14M. The other winger i would have is marin but what price would he be at and is he likely?

15 May 2011 00:24:22
Hi fellow reds and eds!

I don't know why people say that we won't sign the big names i.e, aguero etc. .

When fsg took over they said that they weren't afraid of a big wage bill but wanted quality for money.

Their baseball team have the highest wage bill in the league after they took over!

Just look at man city , they were a mid table club who all of a sudden got a bit of cash and attracted names like tevez etc. .

Why do people keep asking the ed about taarabt when he has made it clear so many times that he doesn't want him!
Also am i the only one who doesn't want aguerro. . i don't want a player coming looking for obscene wages, and he will cost 30-40 million anyway!
Lastly ed what do you think of izzaguire?. . i hope we don't sign enrique! ! {Ed001's Note - I would prefer Izzaguire over Enrique, he looks a far better player.}

Now after inhaling and sinking a few Sanchez Mata Hazard , Countinho, Cissokho, Sakho, plus Gomez.
