Sick of everyone slatin big andy, give the guy a chance! He didn't ask to cost 35m and suffered with injury on arrival. I personally think we have a team/squad to challenge for top 4, albeit once they start putting the chances away. Let's get behind the team, through thick and thin, that's what true supporters do. YNWA. Roblfc86

Shanks once said that " if you cant support the team when we lose and if you cant support the team when we draw then dont support them at all" , not a commonly know quote but he said it so lets do it.

Ye its going way too far with the Carroll bashing and for way to long. Never gonna be the most pleasein on the eye but is ver good at what he does and will only get better till he really is unplayable. Jonson

Must see video reflecting our transfer policy:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwIO-IXQdFc

Boudebouz (wanted by LFC) vs. teammate Martin (wanted by Arsenal, AC Milan, etc)

why are we after the crappier players all the time?

I must say, i'm impressed by your scouting techniques.

Stu.

Nice one stu, i really do have to question some of the IQ levels of some people on here. eat your hearts out OPTA, your in competition

Did King Kenny really believe Andy Carroll was worth 35mil or was it a panic buy.... the boy has got potential but not 35 million pounds worth... i know its all based on wages etc but surely someone like Benzema would have been worth a gamble... for me hes a goal machine given the chance and very much doubt he would have cost more then 25mil at most..

I think its time for Kenny to start buying the right players now if they are for sale instead of waiting for someone else to poach them.. start with Moussa Sissoko if available, Hoilett of Blackburn a good gamble in my opinion for the right wing.. bring in the young quality RB from palace Nathanial Clyne and turn him into a world class player.. and last of all make a gamble for Luuk de Jong... i watched this guy for the 1st time today on youtube and he looks like the business at just 21
Has the potential to be prolific like Van persie, Nistelrooy, etc...

And id also take a cheeky gamble at James Mcarthy at wigan at possibly a long term replacement for Gerrard... as much as Lucas has improved i still think there are better players who should be there instead.. Adam for me is another with quality but just not Liverpool quality... time to sort this out King Kenny... pls.. What do you think of this ED'S..

Please post

Hernandez 6 million, Carroll 35 million

Silva 26 million, Downing 20 million

the list goes on...

UNITED_LEGENDS

Everyone is entitled to their opinion I suppose...

Myk

Suarez 22 mill, Berbanob 32 mill.

Lucas 6 mill, Carrick 19 mill.

Adam 7 mill, Anderson 19 mill.

Henderson 16 mill, Veron 32 mill.

I agree UNITED LEG-ENDS, the list goes on....

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

The list goes on? what are you on about seriously? idiot

Berba £30 million, Veron £30 million, Hargreaves £20 million, Anderson £18 million! Yeah, the list goes on.

Jesus wept. As much as we did pay over the odds for Caroll,it was more of a bein left in the turd by a certain Spanish forward and we needed a quality one to replace him. I think the timing had k little to do with his price, even though i read Spurs had a 27 mil bid earlier rejected for him intimately same window. He's our player now just get over it. Mark my words he'll come more then good. RE Benzema, what team wouldn't want him but no C.L footy equals no Benzema no Higuin no bo countless other top echelon players that would be willing to join us. Jonson

Mate, get real. Read up on how it all happened. Why do I (& all of us) have to suffer your ignorance. Torres pulled a fast one with a day to go before the closure of Jan's window. With hours left to find a replacement a move was made for Carroll. The boy had made a big impact terrorizing quality defences in the Prem & with our own players blessing a bid was tabled, Spurs had offered £25m, with the Chelsea 'dirty money' we walloped that bid to secure a forwrad others were afraid of. End of! If you followed football you would know this. Why the hell you throw up the Benzema example is plain stupid, non comparable whatsoever!? I follow LFC which means I follow the close details of tarnsfer dealings. You, do not...OK?

dd

Not to mention the players you let go for next to.nowt and are probably be worth around 60 mil plus in RossI and Pique. And I'm sure that
did that Bebe guy cost more then Enrique for feck sake. Jonson

ed im being told that we are lookiing into the possibility of bringing robbie keane back in on loan in january do you know if this is true ? {Ed002's Note - I always get trashed if I say I doubt it. So sure, why not.}

January or the summer Ed?

Thanks

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed001's Note - both, Kenny is going to go one better than Rafa, he will bring him in on the 1st of Jan, sell him back on the 31st, then move for him again in the summer....}

That's a rumour not to be 'sniffed' at.

s.p

We'd be better off getting Kevin Keegan on loan mate.
I must admit Bellamy was a surprise when Macca called it, but Keane is surely not remotely possible?
How is he any better than Kuyt or Bellamy as a striker?

He also just moved to the LA Galaxy. Come on now fellas.

shaqiri , podolski and kagawa I think price tag each of them maximum 20m Euro. I will like to see at least 2 of them they are Liverpool kind of player.

They are not a 'Liverpool' kind of player. You just think that.

Are we picking names from the sky?

15 Nov 2011 21:21:27
Cardozo of Benfica should be signed in January to boost our chances of top 4 finish. I think him and suarez would be brilliant together. Carroll to partner Bellamy in rotation. I would also see the availability of James Milner of Man City.

REINA
JOHNSON CARRA AGGER ENRIQUE
MILNER LUCAS ADAM DOWNING
CARDOZO SUAREZ

DONI
KELLY SKRTEL COATES AURELIO
KUYT HENDO GERRARD MAXI
CARROLL BELLAMY

Milner ain't going anywhere, Cordoza is too much of a risk, Gerrard will be in the starting 11 when fit. If we spend big the player must be of top quality or high resale value. I dont we need anymore squad players as we have plenty and the top 1 or 2 kids in the reserves may be given a go next year. I would hope therefore that we only go in for 1 player in January of top class ability and perhaps a few of the best youth players out there to add to our world class academy. We must go for quality over quantity now its time to raise the quality of our starting 11. If we get a top striker/winger and Gerrard back in in good form I would be very happy indeed.

Just a question for the Veruuca Salt "Don't care how I want it now" generation who post on here. How long do you think a player should be given to settle in at a new club and show the form that made you buy them in the first place? Also does every premership club play the same formation/system? The reason for the second question is because of the misconception that because you have played in the premership for another club you should automatically walk into a new club and play at the same level straight away! Sensible reds who know football also feel free to answer the above questions.

Waro

I think a season is enough to be able to competently do your job if you have been playing in that league your entire life. I think you may be getting at the fact Carroll has come to a new new team with a new formation and new tactics. This would be fair if enrique wasn't doing so well. He came from same team and tactics and has transferred to the same team and tactics as Carroll yet he isn't less useful than a sex ed video in Africa.
I expect an English professional playing in England with English players to fit in and adapt inside one season. Foreigner, a little longer. Think i expect too much? I expect the best standards for Liverpool, you should too as medium standards equal medium success. High standards, high success.

Hi Eds, i know this is the rumours thread but was just wondering was there any update with the Stevie Gerrard injury, is he likely to be back soon? {Ed001's Note - there is still no official word, I am told he is bare minimum a month away, but that is the absolute minimum apparently.}

15 Nov 2011 17:29:40
To everybody who is not a fan of Andy Carroll's price tag, maybe you should look at the figures.

In reality, Luis Suarez and Carroll are actually cheaper than you think. In January 2011, Fernando Torres and Ryan Babel were sold for approximately £56m. Liverpool paid a combined £57.5m for his replacements, which means that Carroll and Suarez cost only £1.5m combined, or Andy Carroll cost £767K and Luis Suarez cost £733K respectively.

Therefore just because the figure quoted is what we bid, in reality it is very much NOT that figure.

LuisG. {Ed002's Note - Er, no.}

I am not sure I would even pay £767k for Carroll.

Disney ;)

This made me laugh
RustyNigels

Ed002 could you please educate me as to why what I have wrote is not the case!

Cheers, LuisG. {Ed002's Note - Everything you proposed abou the cost of players is nonsense I am afraid. Andy Carroll did not cost £767k, he cost more than £35M. You clearly do not understand finance at all.}

Sidney why have you pretended to leave the site then make an anagram of your name (Disney) and then come back pretending to be a Liverpool fan?

Chris in Tamworth

Chris in Tamworth - Disney is an affectionate name we have given Sydney as he is very good at making up stories.

JRG

LuisG - That gave me laugh, thanks. Lol

Matthew...

Just to clarify, as undoubted some have mistaken my post for the reality, in truth I am having a laugh.

LuisG.

I actually agree with LuisG. I think he's half-right at least!

Ed he is not exactly wrong, he is just stating the net worth of Carroll.

Actually, what he's stated is a load of b0llocks.

If you've sold your car, which happens to be a BMW for £22k, then purchase a Nissan Micra for £20k, that isn't good business. You didn't pay 2k for it, you paid 20k.

Its one of the strangest business models I've ever heard of.

Selling Torress @ 50mil is good business and bad business by the team buying him. You don't then follow the EXACT same model yourself.

Saying that, I have about 2k in the bank and these guys are gazillionaires?

What a load of BOSWELLOX!

And there we have it, people really are clueless, what a **** to think people would actually read into the complete bull I have written. Of course I bloody know that finance does not work like that, just trying to lighten the burden on Andy Carroll's shoulders by taking a bit of pressure of his back.

LFC Banter? Joke.

LuisG.

Don't worry Luis G I seen your joke but was it a joke before you were caught out?

I keep seeing negative comments about Downing just because he hasn't scored tons of goals and such. The problem is we really only have one winger with the right wing being covered by a center mid and a striker. That means downing is having to cover the wings basically on his own and that will put a lot of pressure on a player. I feel that he has started well because he creates pressure and also draws out defenders to make room for Suarez and Carroll/Kuyt/Bellamy. We may not have players that dazzle and score hat tricks every game but we have quality players that want to play for the club and I'd rather have someone there for the Badge that is on the front of the jersey than being there for the numbers on their paycheck.

Red Rat

15 Nov 2011 18:05:09
I would love to see us buy a player similar to Kagawa as i feel that Carroll's problem is that the only player ahead of him (Suarez) is marked by 2 or 3 defenders for 90% of the game and by having a player alongside him he will have more support in opening up the defense for Suarez or himself, I think we would have more luck breaking down sides like Norwich and Swansea if we lined up like this-
Reina
Kelly Coates Agger Enrique
Gerrard Lucas Adam
Kagawa Carroll
Suarez

just my thoughts
RustyNigels

Suarez will never be the lead striker

How come the welsh are fine to play in the English premier league and the lower leagues but they have a problem with playing for team GB, don;t want to lose thier identity

Just when it suits them obviously. I'm actually looking forward to a great Britain team. Will be great to watch.

MIKEY

World Cup qualifiers start a few weeks after the Olympics, hence the reason no key England players are taking part. Wales want to qualify for the World Cup so obviously don't want their important players tiring themselves out in the Olympics

Red Ollie

Some women wrote this post word for word on fb the other day!

I personally have never had much interest in the Olympics other than the 100m finals.. That's it..!
But, the idea of a 'team GB' does interest me. I can't understand why other the other countries on our British Isle would not want to take part, what better way to advertise your countries footballing assets than on the world circuit? Of which they cannot seem to reach on their own might I add.
I must be missing a trick or two here?!? Unless they just feel that 'England' will be taking control of everything will take any credit...

Buying British hasn't paid off. Says who? I'm sorry did I just fall into a coma in 2011 and wake up in 2014 and Liverpool are in mid table and out of all the cups and still not in Europe?

If so then maybe, just maybe some of the signings haven't come off. I hark back to the Rafa days when he defended his bargain basement bucket buying of cheap foreign imports by saying he'd love to buy British players but he just did not have the money available as there was such a huge mark up on the prices.

He actually commented on the Johnson transfer fee and he acknowledged that he paid way over the odds but felt compelled to do so because all his cheap buys in the position up until that time just didn't cut the mustard and Finnan (British I might add) was his only successful right back in his term and he had just moved on.

The same could be said at left back. No matter who Rafa bought and put in there, they just didn't gel. The use of Riise was more out of 'the best of a bad bunch' philosophy as he like Traore, Dossena etc could not defend and Aurelio mirrored a broken record with his injuries.

I could use this post as the starting point to flare up a 'What would Rafa have done with £105M at his disposal?' Everyone knows I rated Benitez highly. I still do. But he wasn't perfect. However we have to move on and spend no time looking back.

You can't have it both ways. In 2007/08 fans were moaning we didn't have enough British players mingled in with some of the quality foreign players we had. We didn't have the money to do that.

Now the criticism is we don't have enough foreign quality and we've wasted the money we did have, whilst at the same time forgetting that our issues a year ago drove away some of our best foreign talent.

The goalposts have moved somewhat and we do not appear to have recognised the fact. After dropping out of the top 4, what is needed to get us back is going to be different to keeping us in there. There is also a time element now in force too which Dalglish will be attempting to adhere to.

Therefore the strategy to get us back into the top 4 in the quickest possible time has to be to buy players who know the league, settle in quickly and improve on the overall quality of the squad/team. At the same time you have owners with their own views on what they want their money spent on. You have the FFP to consider and the quota of British players ruling to contend with. There is the thorny issue of not being able to offer European football and whilst that isn't the be all and end all of it, it is a factor. Please remember we cannot repeat the outlay we did in the summer without selling a Torres or two as we just do not generate the income required.

Can you afford and/or gamble, as manager, to buy luxury players on big wages, big fees and just hope they settle quickly into the league, and keep a level of performance up throughout the whole season?

The likes of Silva, Aguero, Mata have all come in and settled I hear you say. But they joined settled sides already in the top 4. I am sure once top 4 is achieved, the style of targets will shift and the players bought in will have different criteria to the ones bought now. That said. I just think that no matter who the player is, British or foreign, in a couple of years it won't matter as we will be back in the top 4.

The two British players who are attracting a lot of negative responses are the two costliest. Henderson and Carroll, who with £51M spent, have yet to repay that huge sum and some would go as far as saying don't look likely to either.

At times you need to have a bit of faith, trust the club and support the players. No matter what the club tries to do, there will always be players who will, for some reason or another, fail to be successful at the club. Be it a cheap foreign import or an expensive British one.

The issue is time. Time decides when a player is a failure. Carroll joined this calendar year injured. Henderson joined in the summer. I think it says more about you and your knowledge of football if you have written them off already in November 2011 by saying buying British hasn't paid off.

Bob the Red

I always enjpoy reading your posts Bob. You talk like a proper red and what you say is right. Injuries have prevented Carroll a decent run in the team, Henderson has yet to [play the centre midfield role that he made his own at Sunderland and as Dalglish said, he bought these players for 6 years not 6 months. They have come into a team which is unfortunately not fully established yet but under a complete makeover. With new managment, new owners we just need to have patience. The things we can do is get behind our football club and as Bob says, have abit of faith and trust in the club.

Adzii

Good post Bob... but I think you fell into a coma alright and in fact woke up a hundred years ago when you might TRY to get away with calling a man from Limerick , Ireland... 'British'. Not advisable mate.

Dara D

Kenny spent big on Carroll, Downing & Henderson as he believed they would hit the ground running, of course he thought of the future too hence the ages of Henderson & Carroll, but he was given the cash to get Liverpool into the top four this season and he believed these players would be firing on all cylinders this season like they were doing for their previous clubs. So far they haven't cut the mustard and top four is imperative this season so anything less is failure. Of course they may come good in a couple of years time, but he bought them to come good this season, not in two season's time.

Disney!

Whos to say they wont come good this season? You speak asif the top 4 is well out of reach...

Adzii

'Sydney!' - anyone would think you are John Henry's right hand man. You tell me where anyone has said that a top four finish is 'imperative'. Stop trying to scaremonger. The only comment that John Henry has made is that it would be a 'major disappointment' not to finish in the top four. Henry is in this to make money - he would not gamble on us qualifying for the Champions League after finishing 7th and 6th in the previous seasons.

JRG

'Adzii'

Not at all, they still could come good and Liverpool could still finish in the top four and Kenny would have got it all right. But Sir Bob is saying judge whether the players are failures over the lengths of their contracts, not just this season. My point is that these players were bought to get Liverpool in the top four this season, so if you don't finish in the top four because these players don't come good, then Kenny has failed to meet the clubs target.

Disney!

Disney!

We could have gambled and gone abroad. Theres no telling that Aguero or anyone abroad would have fit into Liverpool. Sure they are classs players but as bob says, they are surrounded by Premier League experience. The preliminary aim is to get in the top four which we are totally capable of doing, my point is theres a long way to go and we need to have faith in the players we have and the manager. Players dont go sh*t over night, Andy Carroll hasnt "forgot " to score goals and make a nuisence of himself as downing hasnt forgot how to play a cross into the box. It just takes time for the players to gel no mater where they are from they just need to understand the Dalglish way and the Liverpool way as we need to understand to get behind them and cheer instead of jeer. Who knows, maybe next year we will sign some Global world beaters but for now all we can do is spectate and think positive for the remainder of the season.

Adzii

'JRG'

You can dress it up as you like, but Kenny is under pressure to finish top four this season, that goes without saying. I am not saying he faces the sack if he doesn't get into the top four this season, but top four is imperative this season whether you say it is or not. CL money is worth a bare minimum of £25m a season, your club is currently running at a loss and will continue to make losses until you get into the top four.

Disney!

Always great reading Bob, love the posts. Finnan the Brit?! (Sounds like the head of a Clan)

Cuchulainn's Hounds

I only call you Disney when you're making up stories so I think this opportunity is perfect.

Where is your evidence that Kenny has been told that top four is a minimum this season? You're making out that John Henry has told you this information personally. As I said previously, all John Henry has said it will be a 'major disappointment' not to finish in the top four, I expect he meant this from a sporting point of view as much as financial.

We are all aware of the targets this season and the money that Champions league brings, but why is it imperative that we qualify? If we fail to qualify it will have an impact on our summer spending, you make it sound like the club will go out of business.

JRG

'JRG'

The club will NOT go out of business if you do not make the top four this season or next season, let me just make that clear before you and your cronies think that I am bantering here, I assure you that I am not, I am trying to have a civil conversation mate. Liverpool will be making losses of around £20m-£30m every season without CL money, this year it will be more than double this amount due to your big spend and player redundancies. A club cannot continue to make losses as this will keep adding to your debt and bigger debt means bigger interest payments. Your gross debt will be over £200m when your finances are released soon. You have to bare in mind that United's gross debt is only £433m, but the debt is being reduced rapidly. If your debt keeps rising and ours keeps dwindling away we will be meeting in the middle within a years time. That is why CL is imperative. Even with CL money John Henry will make very little money out of Liverpool.

Disney!

How do you know our financial situation and what we need/have to do or we will be £200 million in debt? Are you privvy to inside information from someone at the club? Stick to ye playstation ye tootin texan, ye havn't got a jara glue!!

Waro

Great post bob as always.... Sydney Disney whatever your name is.....
Maybe FSG decided to invest some their own capital into the liverpool coffers since they purchased the club... When they bought us Ian Ayre said that our debt now runs alongside most other clubs in terms of managable debt...I think the figure was 60million of operating debt.
Correct me if I am wrong anyone but I would have thought that if you buy a product in order to make it better you have to spend some money to do it.
FSG could have set aside 150 million for the first 3 yrs of the business to offset things like wages, transer fees and the lack of european football in the hope that in 3yrs we are back in the champions league.... If we did qualify in any of the first 3yrs then parts of the 150 million would not even need to be touched as the extra revenue would cover it.
I am sure that FSG have a business plan , if not, several plans to improve the club they have purchased and its not beyond the realms of possibility to think that they might spend some of their own money in order to achieve their goals for the club.

How does it feel to have spent £35 million on a striker who is being kept out of the England team by Bobby Zamora? #Robbed!

UNITED_LEGENDS

How does it feel to not be the biggest club in your city...

Feels great we can spend 35 million on the up and coming superstars. How does it feel knowing your club is crippled in dept and your biggest rivals Liverpool and man city can out compete you in the transfer Market?

MIKEY

How does it feel knowing DJ Campbell, Andy Carroll, Dirk Kuyt, Peter Odemwengie, and Charlie Adam all scored more league goals last year than the 'world class' Rooney?

JRG

Mikey if you could out compete us, why did you not get Jones, or Young who pool both wanted? I remember now! They wanted United instead. In debt doesnt mean we dont have the funds there for transfers. Hence Young, Jones, De Gea and the only thing that held up Sneijder was his ridiculous wage demands. However you guys have to spend 35million to get Andy Carroll, the worst striker in the EPL. Enrique is the only buy in the summer that is good for pool. LOL

Out compete us? My sides are splitting. You only got Suarez because nobody else wanted a biting disgusting man.

SAF_IS_GOD

How much did you pay for that flopalot berbatov?
jayblair89

I would rather have Suarez than Rooney any day.

Excuse me wasnt berba top scorer last season? Hardly a flop. AC could never get top scorer. EVER. Oh and have Suarez over Rooney un-named poster above. Haha, Rooney is World-Class. Suarez is nothing compared to him. End of.

SAF_IS_GOD out!

Hi Ed - is there a reason my previous post has not been shown?

SAF_IS_GOD - if you want to talk about disgusting people why don't you look up Ravel Morrison, Roy Keane or Eric Cantona?

Hey Man Utd lurkers, if you are posting here, is it because you are a 'wee bit chicken" to venture on to the Man City site!.
Lol, hope that 6-1 lives long in the memories.
Now go do something useful for your debt ridden club.
Maybe a charity drive or bingo!.
Ever wondered where the Ronaldo millions went?.

Did somebody really just say you can out-compete us in the transfer market? Yeah because I heard that Fergie was doing everything possible to sign Carroll, Henderson, Adam and Enrique (only good player), it was infact you lot that lost out to us with Jones and Young dummy ;) xx

UNITED_LEGENDS

We did make a bigger offer for jones than united.
He chose you lot cos he could see more first team opportunities. Rio and vidic make aurelio look fit and healthy.

Why has no-one mentioned the fact that "out-compete" makes no sense?

Ya u have old bald face shrek who swears on camera, sleeps with other people's wives and girls, who is shameless and braveless to kick the people on the back in a game, who always threaten the club with his contract issues and not least who gives his all fury for the country he's playing. Glad we don't have those kinds of thumb suckers.

The original poster has forgotten one bargain foreign right back who was a great buy...... Alvaro Arbeloa. An excellent piece of business who was first choice and in his time at the club made the position his own.

Why is this manc on the liverpool site....do you have a life mate?

No, I sit in the shadows of my mothers basement with my only purpose being the degradation of Andy Carroll and the foolish fans who actually rate him.

In refference to people questioning why its difficult to sign the man Lucas's...

Well, i guess for some reason at this present time, Brazillian clubs are commanding massive tranfer fees for their players and the players themselves are asking for outrageous wages which only the likes of Madrid, Barca, City, Chelsea etc can compete with. Unfortunately it becomes a bidding war with young brazilian players. Its a case of who pays most wins. I guess Uraguay being the up and coming but not yet fully established and for sure not the finished article Country. Their players are more open to moving for footballing reasons as they are not as well advertised in the shop window by their respective clubs.

Correct me if im wrong, but i can see a pattern occuring....

No it's all gone now. Where do you think Rooney got his new hair from? Can't wait for it to grow back all curly.

MIKEY

SAF_IS_GOD..... The definition of world class must mean doing the business on the international stage as well as club level.... Suarez has won a copa america and when he left Ajax they filled a stadium just to say goodbye to the lad there was no game on but they still turned up to see him off.... What has Rooney won for england.... nothing and how will he be remembered by Utd fans? your best player is a scouser (who apparentley you hate) What a tube!

Was just reading an article on BBC Sport website that David Ginola is to sue Gerard Houliier for something said about him in a new book.
It's an odd one. When does opinion become libel ?
The Real KB

I don't know but some of those United supporters should be careful ; )

JRG

An opinion becomes libelous when its usually true mate. Jonson

Having met David ginola I can say there are many things I could say about him but I don't wanna be in the dock next to houlier so I will keep my mouth shut haha

MIKEY

Having met the guy as well mikey all I can say is what a top guy he is and was

David is that you? Haha
Everyone thinks your a flash tit.

MIKEY

Libel is publishing broadcasting etc comments about individuals organisations etc that defame them. The commnets usually have to be true which is the difficulty. As I recall, Houllier called Ginola a criminal in 1993 but seems to have gone further in his new book this year with "PSG play at the Parc des Princes. PSG's enemy is Marseille. When he says that Papin and Cantona should not play and that he should play instead... he is a b**tard because every time Papin or Cantona touched the ball, they were booed," Houllier wrote. Think I'd be pretty offende by that myself and Houllier was warned in 1993 about vocalising such comments.....seems he does not learn. Mind you the difference between the two seems to be Ginola wanting and trying to win the game against Bulgaria and Houllier settling for the draw......sound familiar?

Morning ED's,

With all the reported hype about possible targets how likely is the chance that for once KK gets business done his way, completely quiet and off the radar, and signs a player who isnt mentioned in the media? Or in your opinion should we keep an eye on the hype?

I still have my fingers crossed for Abel Hernandez!

Cheers!
LFC Paddy {Ed001's Note - personally I never take any notice of the hype in the media, there is every chance our targets will be named purely because they will name just about every player and link them with us at some point.}

I hope we get Abel Hernandez he is a really talented young striker

Eds who do you think is better Podolski or Luuk De Jong, i like Podolski better. Also, who are our chances(in %) to buy Podolski or De Jong in the Winter {Ed001's Note - I prefer Podolski myself, having seen a lot more of him and he looks well suited to English football.}

Hi Ed - doesn't Podolski suffer from home-sickness?

JRG {Ed001's Note - not as far as I am aware. If you are referring to his return to Koln, that was after falling out with the management and poor form that he left Bayern.}

Thanks Ed - think I have more faith in your memory than mine! Yes it was when he was at Bayern and they said he was going to return to Cologne as he was home sick.

JRG {Ed001's Note - yeah, I think that is what is known as face saving JRG, he had been abysmal while at Bayern, though he was still playing well for Germany.}

I see capello as been saying to reporters that its up to Carroll to force his way in to the England team. Have you ever thought Capello that no Liverpool fan cares about England and keep comments to yourself.

A bit of man management by KK and Carroll will be fine. But i really couldnt care less about Capello comments or England as long as our players dont get injured while playing for them.

Mighty reds

If you don't care what Capello says, why are you writing about it? Of course it's up to Carroll to force his way into the team, just like it's up to every other player to show their worth. Capello's comment goes without saying, I've no idea why you've taken such umbrage to an England manager saying he will pick players on their club form

Red Ollie

Its got absolutely nothing to do with Capello to keep slagging Carroll off. Capello is an awful man manager and we will look after our own players. Liverpool will always be bigger than England.

Mighty reds

"No Liverpool fan cares about England..." ? Some of us do actually, much like some of our players ... I'm proud to be English and like to see our players do well so be careful with the inaccurate sweeping statements...

to all the moaners.

i have an idea. lets just sell downing, carroll, johnson ets and buy some repalcements. when they dont play like pele every game, lets sell them and lets just keep doing that.

i dont think its a good idea to try and gel the team over a couple of seasons and add one or two top players along the way that will never work......lets just slate all the players who are not performing at the mo. lets not get behind the team cos that never works, i think people think that the more we moan and slag off the players the better they will play !!!

anyway for all my sarcasm, in kenny i trust and the group of players he has assembled will do nicely for now. heres to a top four finish and a maybe a trophey along the way.

wish people would remember what it was like a year or so ago, bottom half of the table, playing s**te footie and fergies bezzy mate rubbing his face and having no idea how to treat the fans in a press conference.

p.s. i thought rafa came accross really well on soccer am last sat.

We all need to calm down with this buying a striker talk and get behind the ones we have got. If we had been taking our chances we wouldnt be talking about new strikers. I just have a feeling we are going to have a run of games scoring heaps of goals and starting too see sucess...

Speedy

I think we need a goal scoring attacking mid

Problem is the strikers we have are not good enough to take their chances so when is their improvement in front of goal going to happen?

I think we need a quick, skillfull, great passer, good in the air, hard tackler, fantastic finsher, good leader. dont see the prob dc and kenny have theres loads about.....god come on liverpool sort it out.......

Question for Ed's and reds. After the issue with Meireles and many fans not rating him as he bottled out of challenges, do u guys really think we would sign a player like Eriksen or the like? He doesn't really get stuck in does he. Personally I rated Meireles as an AM where he didn't have to break peoples legs but scored goals. {Ed001's Note - totally different kinds of players, Meireles was meant to be a central midfielder, Eriksen is an attacker. The issue with Meireles was not a lack of getting stuck in, it was that he would jump out of the way of a challenge. It was embarrassing, pathetic even, just how cowardly he was. You should never jump out of the way of a 50-50, but he would pull out of 75-25s in his favour. It just gave up so much to the opposition, they knew that they would only have to make a challenge to get the ball.}

I understand your point Ed, but if we signed Eriksen tomorrow (with Kenny's 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1) wouldn't he play just off the front man? He is not a wide man in a 4-4-2. Couldn't Meireles do that job for us when Stevie is out? With an outdated formation of 4-4-2 wouldn't we always have a problem fitting in the small technically gifted players? Maxi good example. We need 2 StevieG's in his prime for 4-4-2. Just saying, I don't think Kenny is actually looking for a creative AM. Would a midfield of Adam, Lucas and Raul at AM supporting Suarez be a bad thing when Stevie is out?

I see the prodigy Henderson lead the U-21's to victory and was the driving force behind the teams success tonight! Oh wait, we lost 2-1 to Belgium :O. If only Phil Jones was playing! :(

UNITED_LEGENDS

See your a bit to obsessed with younger variety of playe

You are really showing your utter lack of any football knowledge or understanding. The U21 side lose one match and it is the fault of Henderson, totally ignoring the fact that with him as captain the U21 side have won the previous four matches, with Henderson scoring twice, as well as an assist last night and two against Iceland, and are still four points clear at the top of the group.

What was the result of Phil Jones' last game for England U21? England 1 Cezch Republic 2.

JRG

Loving the post JRG. The united fans are comical, cringe worthy little scallys who will probably turn into City fans soon.

Adzii

Obviously England are more important to you than United. Wait there though a typical United fan i dont really expect anything less.

Mighty reds

So United fans don't recognise Belguim as one of the best under 21 sides?
Clueless!

KT!

I'm starting to think UNITED LEGENDS is actually non other than phil jones's mum

The fact is, they lost. I didnt personally watch the game, but it could have been down to Henderson. It might not have too. Fact is for someone with talent, he should definately be pushing for first team. Or atleast make an impact in the U-21's which he isnt.

Food for thought: if instead of Kenny dalglish we got some abstract manager, with no history at the club, what would you be feeling right now?
Honest opinions please.

New squad, playing good football, creating chances, one win off fourth spot, I'd still be feeling ok I reckon. Notwithstanding the fact that we are not as bad off as everyone whining thinks, it is the pride, dignity and spirit that Kenny has brought back into the club that has made this season so far from last. The passion of the players, the unity and the spirit is there - noone but Kenny could have achieved this in my opinion. The only thing lacking is the support of the moaners - of which there are far too many these days. That is my honest opinion. Sign your post next time.

LIVERPRES

There's actually a lot more pressure on KK to succeed than maybe any other manager. If we were in the position we are in now with any other boss, I think most fans would be pretty patient & quite happy at how we are playing. Fans expect KK to have instant success because of who he is & what he has done at the club before.

The Irish Rover

I'd be thinking why have we no british players

Nice to finally see a positive post about Dalglish

Adzii

What more pressure than any other manager nonsense if he was in Steve keans LG position he'd know what pressure is

Do you believe we have to make some transfers in January if we are to get into the Top 4? Carroll has to go if he doesn't pick up his game. I'd buy that De Jong and I'd buy that Gaston Ramirez so Suarez has more than his two feet to play football with.

TheShire

Ok, so we buy de jong and he doesnt have a very good start does that mean you will want him ti leave after 5-6 games ?? also may take ramirez a few months to settle, if he doesnt perform does that mean he needs to leave like big andy ???

matty b

De jong is wanting more money from city and not getting it so do you think we could afford him noooooooo
aintree dave {Ed002's Note - I think you have the wrong De Jong in mind.}
