fellow fans please take note!

looking at the table we are 8 or 9 points off 4th place. now, think back to all those dropped points, it's easy, think of matches we dominated without scoring the killer goal and you will see 8 or 9 points is nothing of a difference so we are not far off the top 4 that even our own boss said is out of our reach! suarez will stay because he is a man of his word, unlike others who kiss badges and leave for more money, so, not having been rodgers' biggest fan, i will now admit i was wrong and the rodgers system is a good system but, it will get even better with big andy carroll back heading goals in among our team of midgets (excuse the pun!)
so next season, with 2-3 addition and carroll back we should be challenging, not top4. challenging. ynwa

Finally someone who sees the obvious, rather than complaining about our position look back to where we went wrong. We are not far off champions league at all. 4 points dropped because of 2 wrongly dissallowed goals against swajsea and everton to start.

Anonymous woolback

You could say missed chances and dubious decisions about every single club!

Whst about last season when we hit the woodwork 30 something times? Maybe if Manchester United had taken all their chances they might be 40 points clear or Citeh might be top of the league?

The Irish Rover

We have suffered more than any other team from bad reffing according to debatabledesicions (google them).

. rather keep the big man than allow him to go back to Newcastle on the cheap. Let him have another loan (if Buck doesn't fancy having him back). Get better money for him next season if he stays injury free and plays regularly for a Stoke or a Cardiff or suchlike. He's on a long term deal. We have time on our side regarding this one.

Congratulations to Cardiff for coming up to the big league

Thats 2 european away games for lfc nxt season

4 European away games. You're forgetting about swansea

Cardiff away, swansea away I think that's two away games?

Jeez there are some smart guys on here. Classic!

Who wants raffa back?

Replies welcome or agree for want disagree for not

Not me, personally think he was off his cakee, ruined the wage structure with countless signings, tactically off his head (and people say rodgers is tactically astute) and messsed around with the team when messing around wasnt needed.

I personally wouldn't have him anywhere near Liverpool, I believe the success he had when he was here was down to gerrard, not him.

Dont get me wrong, don't hate him at all, probably a very nice guy, just don't like him in footballing terms.

I wouldn't want any of our past managers to come-back, even if Paisley was alive today I wouldn't won't him to come back, because Fans have no respect at all, the way kenny was hounded out by fans and the owners it was shocking.

Calling kenny all the way to America just for the sack, oh dear I still haven't come out from that shock and don't have enough strength to see another Legend been destroyed by so called fans and owners who know very little about footy.

Fans abuse kenny day & night here and have forgtten, Kenny has given his life to this great club, has given trophys both as player and Manager, have stood by the club whenever we have needed him and what this great club means to him, he has done more for this great club Professionally and Personally then anyone will ever come near, but nope abuse him, kick him, put knives on him, this is what fans do nowdays so I wouldn't want any past manager to manage us because we don't deserve them at all.

Fans are daft they shoot from the lip and not the hip its all about emotions.

17 Apr 2013 08:18:22
Good post.
I have sen a 65 year old man still writing a sensible post and showing the love and support here for our club.
so its not kenny who has given his life. there are millions of people who has and still giving their best towards this club off the pitch.
and fans don't get any payment for the supprot.
Just remeber one thing. If you are wrong. just accept it. no matter who you are.

I think your metaphor is the wrong way round mate, shooting from the lip is accurate aiming and shooting from the hip sprays wildly

. tell you what; bring Rafa and KK back as a management double act. That way we could pay 70 million for players of the calibre of Alberto Aquilani or Andy Carroll. Oh, and if any of these types of players are injured, well. then we'll just round it up to a cool 100million and blow city, united and chelski right out of the water! Yeah baby!

I love Rafa. He gave us some of the most exciting nights at Anfield we've had under any manager. The Main Stand shuck when Louis score against Juventus and the 1st semi v Chelsea is up there with any atmosphere I've experienced. I'll never forget him watching the CL qualifier in the bar with fans in Cologne the night before our own game and he's countless help with local charities. He's more scouse then a lot who were born here but I still wouldn't have him back. It's football not Dungeons & Dragons and players aren't pieces of a board game. Saying that, the way he was pushed out with the help of are legion of vultures, er sorry ex-players, current so called legends and media wasn't nice. Kenny is the finest player I've ever seen and possibly my 1st true love. I idoloised that man. I followed them everywhere and when he stepped in Joe Fagen's shoes I was even worse! Alas things change and Kenny 3. 0 wasn't the same man. I think there's still resentment with the sh*tty treatment he recieved which forced him to quit. Being from the area I've heard too many stories about his halo slipping and him not the golden god he used to be. The Rooney incident ring any bells? Like they say, you should never go back. As for Rodgers I honestly think he's blagger. He's got the media savy and all the the latest statistics but so as Sam Allardyce and he won't get anywhere until he stops being spit roasted by Carragher and Gerrard and becomes his own man. They were great, they're not now so stop revolving everything around them and build for the future. Wavertree is wonderful

Eds, unfortunately this is a Suarez question of sorts, I remember there being stories about how Suarez skipped training and things at Groningen when Ajax came in for him, and I think I remember articles about him doing the same when Liverpool came in for him. Do you think we may see a situation like that arise, or is he not actively seeking a move from the club?

Don't worry, I'll not bite if you can't give me a direct answer, any info is appreciated, cheers. {Ed001's Note - I don't see it happening, though only Suarez could really answer that question.}

16 Apr 2013 21:21:57
IMO, without suarez we are doomed to mediocrity and mid table rubbish,, we Must build around suarez he his WORLD class and if he stays next year we better be top 4 or its adios luis and I would not blame him,, plays his heart out for us but deserves top flight. and so do WE!, so spend wisely and don't be cheap,, sometimes u got to spend money to make money FSG, LFC4LIFE!

Do you think at the end of the season Rogers Steve g Ayre will sit down with suarez and his agent and say here's our targets next season and here is our main transfer targets we are after, or does it not working like that? Please enlighten me ed002 or 001 thanks {Ed001's Note - it can do, it will be down to Suarez. If he is looking to leave, I would expect the club to do something along those lines to convince him to stay. Well, unless we got an offer that we just couldn't refuse.}

Fireman Liverpool don't deserve it it got to be earned and Liverpool have done nothing to earn a place as an elite team of the league

dio

Its ok saying don't be cheap, there has been over 150m spent since they bought the club 2 and a half years ago, that's a lot of money with no real return, the current squad is not good enough for top 4 so investment is needed, just how much more money are they willing to put in

We are the 3rd biggest annual net spenders behind City and Chelsea, averaging £2mill a year more than Utd. You can't buy heart.

We dive in and pay over the odds for players who no one else wants their agents laugh all the way to the bank. and we end up having to bin players for pence rather than pounds.

17 Apr 2013 09:31:09
Luis suarez situation will drag all the summer.
he know he is on fire. and probably his best chance to get trophies and CL. will be in moving.
lets see wether he listen his head or heart.

16 Apr 2013 20:19:56
we should sign wilshere or fellainai

Not a chance of either coming! There far too much expectation regarding transfers

16 Apr 2013 20:12:25
I would love Fellaini at Liverpool.

Is that wrong?

IncaMan

It's dirty

Lol. Were watching the same game right.

Yeah I think it is wrong! But he is a beast who would be top in our team

Lads was watching live PSV Ajax, and before I knew which number Erikson was wearing, I had already thought the dude the man running the show in CAM. I am not a big fan of Erikson, but you know what? He is much better than you think. He trashed PSV's defence at the weekend, over and over, was involved in 2 of their goals, one created the other scored (really well taken by the way at the near post), and was the MOM.

I personally would prefare Maher who plays for AZ who plays deeper than Erikson, but Erikson would probably play CAM left next to Stevie G and change positions during a game with the left wing (as he did against PSV). Ajax play the same 4-1-2-3 (more like 2CB-1DM-2WB, 2CAM, 2WING, 1S). So I am now beginning to understand why Rodgers wants him. Young, starting to blossom, can interchange positions and used to playing the same way LFC does.

Player himself is quoted as saying he wants to go to City, but I cannot see it. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME we are not going for Maher too, as he is only 19 and already in the Dutch squad. Maher I get to watch at the cup final between PSV and AZ, so I will let you use know how he is. But f*** me, Erikson is very good. Sharp as a razor. {Ed002's Note - Maher will move to Ajax as a replacement for Eriksen.}

I'm sorry but there is no way eriksen will move to anfield! I just can't see it being part of his plans!

16 Apr 2013 18:35:30
Right, right, right. Calm down guys. There are two rumours flying about at the moment I wanna talk about.

1) Eriksen. Have we agreed a fee? Most probably not. The media hype over this deal is probably because Ajax don't want to let him run down his contract so will sell in the summer, and it has been made clear in recent days that Liverpool have scouted him intensively over the course of the season. Both Tottenham and Manchester United have enough attacking midfielders in their ranks, so a £12.4m bid for Eriksen would seem a colossal waste of money. Only Eriksen can decide what he does in the summer, but he has made his interest in playing football regularly in England known. IF he opts for Merseyside, then the fee will either be £12.4m, or £19m for both Alderweireld and Eriksen, with the option for Oussuma Assaidi to go the other way.

2) The second rumoured is the Carroll happenings. West Ham have made their view clear that they want to sort out their manager's contract situation out BEFORE entering into any negotiations about signings. If West Ham were to sign Carroll with their current squad, they would not meet the criteria of the new Financial Fair Play rues coming into play next season. BUT given how big of an admirer Big Sam is of Big Andy, he may opt to trim the squad he has now so that his team fits within the budget. Alternatively, Andy Carroll could start the new season back on Tyneside, but if he did then the fee there would probably be around £15m, not £17m.

Hope this made things a bit clearer for everyone moaning "Have we signed Eriksen?" or "Have we sold Carroll yet?". ED's, if I'm wrong on anything please correct me, regards, Brad. {Ed002's Note - I have no idea where you come up with all of this from.}

A bit like your garbage info still waiting for jeffren

The penalty's for not meeting the F, F, P, R are you will not be allowed to play in europe so this will not affect west ham

Alderweireld no eriksen no!

16 Apr 2013 18:12:23
30 points behind Man U, it's quite depressing :- (

How have they got so far ahead of City, they are good but not that good!

16 Apr 2013 19:06:27
i know, we need to close the gap next season.

its just fergie and theie will to win mate, you have to admire it really, they score late goals, come from behind and never give up even though half of them are bog standard. if fergie managed us he would probably have us winning the league.

Awh to be fair there will never be another fergie because nobody will get the time he got at a high profile club crazy to think people say he was one match away from getting sacked if only if only!!!

Keep the Faith, MUFC had not won the league for many years before they succeded LFC as the countries best team year on year.

It is possible that LFC can return to the top of the league one day. YNWA.

16 Apr 2013 20:46:03
Ferguson is the big x factor for them, I can't see Liverpool winning league title when his still managing united, that's never going to happen for various reasons, he has too much power in this league, his power is beyond imagination, Liverpool will never rise or dominate till fergie retires, the only positive is his time is near.

Learn your lesson, give the manager time and he may perform miracles, still think brendan is the right man for us.

Anonymous woolback

If you put up with some one long enough they will do some thing right in the end.

Yes, like gain promotion!

Yep. If Fergie taught us anything it's that a manager at a top club needs time (as long as he has talent that is). If you ask me I think Buck has that talent. Look how he's imprinted our team in only one season - what'll he do after 3 seasons!?! They're a joy to watch. Rafa's principal philosophy was not to get beat - which was very unattractive. Houllier was very same as Rafa. KK didn't have an eye for talent hence paying silly money for big Andy etc. Stick with Rodgers.

16 Apr 2013 18:08:45
Rogers saying he wants quality signings this summer but in reality can we really afford or attract them?

Is he referring to the likes of Ince Wiliams?

We are not going to be in any European competitions so not sure what we can offer. We haven't had a good season and are some way off CL football.

Other than we have a great history not sure what we offer.

I'm not trying to be negative but realistic in our position these days. I would rather we promote youth and save the little money we have than waste on average signings as we did last summer.

Talk of the likes of Erikson are just fantasy thinking this type of player would give up CL/Europa football. If anything we will have to wait for all the bigger clubs to do their business and see what's left.

People should not get there hopes up this summer, likely more sales again than signings.

Your very wrong buddy I no exactly where your are coming from but look if we keep suarez its a sign of intent ambition players will see and understand what we're trying to do so let's just give faith Liverpool will always bring players in for the fans and decent wage plus player will come to be reborn again such as sturridge and coutinho aare perfect examples and we done well so far I think plus players from smaller teams or smaller leagues also!!!

Well, that's progress for you.

ConnorsLFC

Despite the lack of Champions League football for the past few years, Liverpool as a club remains a huge name in football, and the force of its history ought not to be underestimated. I am certainly a fan of Brendan Rodgers and believe he is fully aware that the club needs to be precluded from continuing on the dangerous and easy road to mid-table mediocrity initiated by Hodgson and, oddly, Dalglish. Adam, Poulsen, Jovanavic, Konchesky etc. None of these players are good enough for Liverpool. It is vital that we keep hold of Suarez, as players will be attracted to a club which has good players with whom they can form partnerships and success.

We haven't been linked with ince or Williams that strongly, we've been linked with the likes of Eriksen, Alderwireld and Dede. Quality players who would take us to the next level and players we have a possibility of signing no matter what other people think. CL footie isn't everything, quality players demand first team football something we can offer them. I trust BR to make some good signings such as Coutinho, Sturridge etc.

AsianRed

Coutino and Sturridge have been our best signings but both were risky and could easily have gone bad considering the history of either injuries and attitude with Sturridge.

We are still a big name and have large support but these days the quality players want trophies and we are not close to competing for them at the moment, knocked out of all competitions fairly early by poorer sides on paper.

17 Apr 2013 00:53:07
Are Liverpool huge name for success or past glories, Ask yourself and be honest, don't think as fan because when players come they don't think as fans and you will get your answer.

17 Apr 2013 09:44:35
Keep suarez. and bring atleast one countinho more ins. probably on the right side.
two dribblers on either flanks honda behind with suarez up front. my god goals from everywhere.

16 Apr 2013 17:48:58
Hi Ed's, over the recent years post benitez era there have been so much garbage printed in the media outlets about players coming to LFC.
what I wanted to ask is who or what positions will Rodgers be looking to fill this summer! {Ed002's Note - Defence.}

16 Apr 2013 16:57:00
people saying suarez going due to couple of games not scoring omg the man has been superb this season please let's not be negative about the one shining light we have had this season I will say this though I believe we r in trouble if he goes how will we pull any players in with him going and stevie g not got to long left huge summer for us the biggest transfer window we had in a long time I say this as if we r to keep luis and pull other top players in then that's great but if not and we lose luis and don't get more quality in then think we should get used to being where we r please fsg pull out all the stops this window as I believe if you do we will be pushing seriously for trophies next season Johnson, agger, kelly, wisdom, enrique, add another cb and lb, and that's quite strong, gerrard, lucas, coutinho, henderson, shelvey, stirling poss teixera, suso, add a decent winger again strong,
suarez, sturridge, borini add another decent striker again strong not saying we would conqer everything but think we would have a strong squad to compete diakate, hummells, sanchez, would be nice start

As if we would get the last two but let's be honest we will always get players in if we loose luis we need to sign someone big as a sign of intent

16 Apr 2013 17:19:10
eds you must feel a little embarrassed that a web site managed to release the news that eirksen is a done deal to Liverpool for 12.4 million thought you lot were on the ball.

oh and sanchez will be done tomorrow for 41 jugs of sangria.

FACT

16 Apr 2013 19:49:38
Please can u provide site details we would also love to read the article and get the insight

Eriksen! Done deal? It unlikely but have Liverpool followed up their interest ed?
thank you.

I seen it on lfc a web site into Google some crazy rumors on that

Google .

16 Apr 2013 16:42:54
eds this is a great site

now I would like to say to all the fans who want rafa back, look at chelsea and the players they have got, man for man the have the best squad in the prem, but with his rotation system its making chelsea not play to it potential, because as a team grows patnership develop between players, but with a rotation system this does not happen, when we were winning everything in the 80s the only reason a player was changed was because of injury, and back then we played plenty of games, its no good having fit players at the end of the season and having nothing to show for it, the teams who win things don't rotate just for the sake of it, i'm not sure if barcelona or real madrid rotates I don't think they do anyway and they are the best teams in the world at the moment, I don't know about b. munich, so we can see that the winning teams don't rotate,

if rafa came back he would rotate which means we won't win the prem with him, I know where he took us when he was our manager and he did have his faults like all managers do, but I think the saying a manager should never go back should apply to rafa, we need a manager to get the team settled and no rotation which BR does, I want to give BR another season because this season he has had a lot to deal with, like getting rid of the big wages brigade and trying to get good players with limited money

the summer will either make him or break him in who he signs if he gets it right then we will have a good chance of making the top 4, if he does not buy right then we will end up where we are now

mickey b

16 Apr 2013 17:48:57
mickey b you know nothing about footy, rafa came at the moment when things were going downwards neither have a striker who score consistantly and the fans consistantly are at his back, are you kidding saying chelsea have better players man to man in Epl lol, city and united have better players, better strikers and better dressing room without bullys.

Its impossible to play same line up when your playing 2-3 games aweek, chelsea have already played more then 60 games this season and more then any epl team, at the sametime we are playing fantastic attacking footy in years, before having a go at rafa how many managers have come and got sack, its very hard to manage chelsea because even the best is counted as mediocore in Abramovich eyes that's how the pressure and standards are set.

Blue forever.

16 Apr 2013 21:27:31
mickey b mate football has changed, its impossible to play the same team consistantly, Ferguson is the most successful manager ever, yet he always rotates his players, be in Champions league or League or FA cup etc, this is only the way you can mantain your squad or less injuries or less tiredness and fresh leggs.

16 Apr 2013 16:22:59
Eds quite a serious question.

The Fair play league table has us 2nd at the moment. With Arsenal 1st on points, and Spurs/Utd in 3rd and 4th, and with those teams already securing a form of European football for next season, we look odds on to be the 'Premier League representative' for the financial fair play award with Europa League qualification.

But Europa qualification obviously depends on other leagues in Europe, I don't know how that system works with points scoring against other fair play leagues etc. Its a stupid system, but is there a chance it may get us into Europe? Have I got this right?
RC {Ed002's Note - Sort of - the EPL will get a place if England makes one of the top three spots by mid May. Right now it is touch and go. Rodgers hinted he would decline it if offered - but I doubt it will be his choice and I think there has to be a fair chance of a place.}

16 Apr 2013 17:19:54
Hi eds a lot of talk about Liverpool getting qualification due to fair play for europa just want to know we're do Liverpool really stand because from what I see fulham and southamton are above Liverpool in the fair play table according to espn can you please give some info regarding where Liverpool stand in terms of fair play standings {Ed002's Note - I don't have an up-to-date table.}

16 Apr 2013 18:57:56
I would rather not get into the Europa League through fair play. Imagine the ridicule we would get from rival fans.

Hounsred {Ed023's Note - Who cares? I just don't want that route because of the early start}

Thanks for the quick reply. I had no idea Rodgers might turn it down, surely the owners would overule as that would bring in less revenue. He'd be wise not to, many supporters including myself believe that any form of European football is better than none at all (if its available). RC {Ed002's Note - Rodgers hinted it might not suit the club.}

I think it would be silly to turn it down - it put's in a position to win 4 bits of silverware and is good tool to introduce players to European competition (the travel, the different pace of play - going to crap stadiums and then mental away fans at others). I's take a place at the drop of a hat - treat the quali's as pre-season games if we're worried about burnout of the squad.

17 Apr 2013 09:56:24
but it starts very very early. in the middle of the pre seaosn.

16 Apr 2013 15:51:23
Where will Suarez end up next season.
Lots of rumours saying he is off to Bayern but they are supposedly signing Lewandowski from Dortmund.
So I personally think it will be either PSG or Real Madrid.

I think he will be off to Barca. David Villa is moving on and they need a quality forward and he fits the bill - and they can afford him.

16 Apr 2013 16:28:57
I doubt Barca can afford him, they have some big financial crisis and its going on for sometime now, if Suarez pushes for Barca then we should forget will get anywhere near 30m, Barca are known to bully teams for players when comes to Transfer fees.

Nowhere you clowns.

DaveyBootle

At LFC :)

They could afford him alright with Alex shancenz (spelling) amongst others leaving but his PR doesn't fit the bill with them!

Dont barca have some sort of verbal agrement with neymar to sign in the summer? eds or reds. seem to remember something about that, also city were hoping to hijack the deal cause txiki B moved to city {Ed002's Note - There is no agreement.}

Barca pay lower prices than all the other big clubs for players

There are only 6 teams in europe that can buy suarez. man c man u chelsea madrid barca psg bayern has the money but they will not spend 40/50 mil on 1 player. no need to worry about juve they don't have the funds. I will get worried if barca/madrid/psg make a offer, I am afraid fsg will except a 50mil offer with us not getting into europe next season. we are building a team and 50 mil will help the team malta {Ed002's Note - Juventus are also going to make an offer including another player. Your view on Bayern Munich is about a light year from being correct.}

16 Apr 2013 18:02:55
Not again please Barca are very difficult to deal, they use their success to bully teams and get players on cheap or even buying players from them is difficult as they are always interested putting clauses.

Mister or missus ed002 you said juventus are going to make an offer including another player.
Any idea who that player may be? And how much the offer is spill the beans don't hold back {Ed002's Note - The money is not somewhere I want to go, but teh player will be Giovinco.}

Bayern bought 1 player that cost 35mil euro martinez. ribery 25mil gomez 27mil robben 21mil all euro. we have spend more money than bayern, they are just more clever they buy were they are weak 21mil for 28year old robben will less sell on value. price money is there value. I am from malta and know italian football inside out, juve cannot compete with the big clubs that will come in for suarez. the big money is in the premier l and barca/madrid/bayern/psg.

Ed002 you say juventus going to make a differencoffer plus player who is this play who do you think? And how much money will they offer? {Ed002's Note - Giovinco - the mopney is something I would rather avoid.}

I remember this time last year, Juve were rumoured to have offered money plus Giovinco. I guess that we rejected it, so Ed002, why would we now accept, after Luis has had a much better season?
JFT96
Smithy {Ed002's Note - I did not say that Liverpool would accept it.}

Thank you ed002 so basically he would play behind the striker meaning if this happens we will not be in for a so called number 10? Am I right? Thanks {Ed002's Note - The defence is the priority - this is an entirely separate matter.}

16 Apr 2013 23:10:21
There are only six teams that can afford Luis - here's a list of 7

16 Apr 2013 14:03:43
Eds
Do you know if you buy a ticket for the U21 2nd leg on Friday from LFC, does Liverpool get the money?
Or doesn't it matter?
I know it's only a fiver but it's not as if Roman needs it does it? {Ed002's Note - The net income from tickets is shared between the clubs. The net is derived from total ticket sales less VAT, visitor's travel and accommodation, the fees and expenses for the
Match Officials, plus other match expenses (stadium staff, police, first aid, floodlights, etc..}

16 Apr 2013 14:31:15
Really? You sign King Kenny?

samsam9000
-----------------------------------------------------
Kenny has won 4 league titles in his career, only 2 less then Paisley and more then Shanky, even more then wenger who has been at Arsenal for more then 20+ years, now I'm not comparing him with Paisley or Shanks but Boi eh boi show some respect, very few manager can achieve what kenny has achieved.

King kenny

If only he stayed on I no he left for good reasons but imagine he never left and adapted his game plan over the years him a Ferguson battling every season if only.

I have no problem with Kenny. I have a problem with you using his name to sign your ramblings

Big random alright

16 Apr 2013 14:01:07
Liverpool have played well for 2 games but not scored. Suarez has has 2 iffy games.

Make of this what you will.

Thanks for the update, we will.

The real AG

It shows he is shattered and that if he does not score then we don't score, god help us he he goes, make of this what you will

mickey b

Jayus I don't know what to make of it can anyone enlighten me.

Don't think you could call Luis iffy he was quite against west ham but played well against reading bar there keeper he would have had another hat trick

Hi guys didn't have time to pop over yesterday but i'd just like to send my respects to those 96 who tragically lost there lives, let's hope justice is done for them now, I know it will never bring them back but the truth of the wrongs needs to be put right!

Since Saurez has returned from international duty he seems to have lost focus and his effort and drive comes into question,

i may be wrong but he is beginning to show proof that come next season we won't see him the LFC jersey.

i believe he is as good as gone and its a matter of time and the right offer which will determine where he is going to.

i for one won't be too upset as a player of his ability doesn't deserve to play alongside the useless and crap players we have.

Where's the disagree button when you need it!?
The Juicer

Or alternatively, after playing most of the matches this season and several very long trips to South America and back, he's finally starting to get a bit tired.

Not saying we'll keep him, but he's not the type of player to just decide he wants to leave so stops trying

Instead of looking into things that are not there look at the fact he has not had a rest since the last copa america, when uraguay won, i'm sure if he had a week or 2 off he would come back feeling better and well reated, but because he is tha man he is he loves playing football that much he does not want to have a rest so why not give him some credit instead of making thins up

FFS! he is tired, a couple of games with no goals and he's leaving? he gives 100% all the time, we NEED him here next year,, build around him,, we are close to where we need to be (top 4)

Or, he's not playing that badly just hasn't happened to score in two games and is being judged by ridiculous standards.

eds, why am I having so much trouble logging in. I type in the first letter of my username and the username appears automatically, I click on this and the password automatically comes up but when I click log in, it tells me the password is incorrect. This has happened a few times, I have been sent by email another password and entered it and have logged in. The next time I try to log in I am told again that the password is incorrect so have to ask again for a new password. This has happened 5 times now and I am getting sick of it. What if anything am I doing wrong?

Some statements to discuss regarding our frontline:

1. Suarez misses too many sitters to be the focal point of our attack. He should be behind the striker.

2. Sturridge and Borini are better suited as impact players off the bench.

3. We need to sign a proven goalscorer in the Gomez/Van Persie mould. Somebody who just scores goals, links up well with other attackers, and is in their prime.

4. By the time 'said striker' in their prime is in their 30's and wants to go finish off in turkey or what not, Yesil will be the best young forward in England (if he meets his potential).

Great job on the Agree disagree button Eds. People have to discuss why they disagree now!

YNWA! (Adam)

Well number 1 is that you have not put down reasons for any of those random thoughts that you posted. Suarez leading scorer In the league and its the Manc who is in his prime. So when is yesil going to turn into the best striker in the league. Playing off the bench.

I said a while back Steven Fletcher would be a good signing and got slated!

If you were looking at a sexier name then Thomas Muller would be my choice of forward.

Apples '96'

Have you ever seen the sitters Gomez has missed? He shouldn't come close to a LFC Jersey

16 Apr 2013 15:07:28
Mate but Strikers who score consistantly are not cheap, where will money come from, after missing Champions league I doubt owners wil continue splashing cash for Rodgers, even the debts at the club is getting bigger and bigger.

1. Agreed on the proviso that we have someone better up front.

2. Agree with Borini, most strikers at 21-22 are mostly subs. Sturridge I think depends on who we are against - he can do the job but needs to stay up front and on the defenders shoulders for me.

3. Every team in the world wants a proven goalscorer at all times.

4. Havent seen enough of Yesil so have no idea what his potential is, but considering my limited knowledge of how he's done with the German Youth Team I have fingers crossed for him. Shame he's missed the tail end of this season

Who is the top scorer in our team and in the prem

Quick question,

I know he has played very little but how does everyone see Fabio Borini's future panning out? Would you rather we stick with him and get rid of Andy or visa versa?

Apples '96'

I would rather have a Borini, who is hungry to prove himself that Carroll, who shows up to training still drunk.

At-least Borini will be professional and give a 100% every-time he puts on the Red Jersey.

The real AG

I'd rather have Carroll than Borini. Borini is a talentless injury prone waste of space IMO and I was made up when he got injured (again). I hope they both leave though because they're shocking

16 Apr 2013 15:12:23
tell me again how many premier league goals borini has scored for Liverpool, that's right a grand total of none!!

'I was made up when he got injured (again). '

You wanted a young lad, who plays for our team, a team you SUPPOSEDLY support, to get injured? You actually wanted one of our own players to be physically hurt? You sad, pathetic little man.

JFT 96

JP

Well said JP. I'd rather have Carroll than Borini but I think Borini is more talented - I just struggle to see where he fits into our squad. Unless we change the shape of our team a little - depends on what BR is planning.

hopefully big andy will be back for good in the summer

Just out of interest, who'd do a straight swap - Diame for Carroll?
The Juicer

Not me!

The real AG

Andy is a good player just not for Rogers he is worth a right few quid hopefully he keeps banging them in and rises his price up until the rest of the reason

That would be very good business. but here's to dreaming!

It would be awful business, Andy is someone we paid 35 million (not that we would get that figure) and diame has a rumoured buy out clause of about a tenth of that.
redgrant.

16 Apr 2013 11:10:50
I've devised the perfect way to manage the Carroll situation. I have just invented the Carroll springy boots. The consist of heavy lead soled football boots,
with a set of coiled springs that run up the calves over the shin pads. This cunning invention is designed to keep the big fella on his feet. As soon at he gets knocked over by a defender, the heavy boots and spring action instantly flick Andy back on his feet again. In short, it will be simply impossibly to knock him over, rather like a Subbuteo player. An additional feature of this new invention is the possibility of timing the spingy action, with one of Downing's crosses. The grand idea here is that, say from a corner situation, Carrager can pull springy Andy down to the floor from the back of his shirt (technically not a foul because its his own team player), then as the cross comes in Carra will be able to release the shirt and Andy will spring up from the floor to meet the cross with his head - a tatic you will agree will be impossible to defend. I'm off to Anfield this week to discuss the invention.

Professor Bumwhistle

It was going well there Prof, until you wrote the words ". one of Downing's crosses".
You need to get back to the lab and invent a Cross-Making Device that simultaneously triggers his adrenal gland to give him confidence to ****ing well do it in the first place!
The Juicer

No wonder you're a professor with million dollar ideas such as that! If I was one of those smug persons from Dragon's Den I'd definitely invest.

Has Suarez form dipped because his head is being turned to which club he should join?

Bayern Munich, I think he is as good as gone unfortunately (gut instinct).

Apples '96'

You guys need to get a grip, I doubt he will go this summer.

And he is allowed to have a slight dip in form all strikers do - just look at Van Persie, Rooney, Torres the list goes on.

What he and the team need now is support from the supporters. As long as he is at LFC ill support him 100%!

Ohhh welll jns when did I ever stop supporting him you flake?

Whats to say he would stay? Possibly no Europa never mind Champions League, get in the real world you absolute MELT!

Id love him to stay but you got to be be real, there is absolutely every chance he could leave in the summer, if you can't see that then your heads west.

What I feel we should do in the summer:

Goalkeeper:
I think Reina's getting back to where he was before his wobble in form. He's still relatively young in GK terms too so no hurry to replace him. I'd try to poach Alex McCarthy from Reading as #2 as well, call it match-day fever or whatever but I was impressed with him even before Sunday.

Centre backs:
Need to replace not only Carra, but Skrtel and Coates too. Ashley Williams, Toby Alderweireld and Kelly/Wisdom moving back to their natural position should solve it.

Full backs:
Johnno's one of the best right backs in the league and Enrique's been good this season too. Well stocked on the right I'd say we need a bit more of natural cover at LB.

DM:
Lucas is one of the best out there at what he does but I can't help thinking we need a bit more of an all-round physical presence in there sometimes. Diame for £3.5m is a steal.

AM:
Stevie's moved deeper now he's getting on a bit with tremendous results. However, we've lost a bit in terms of playmaking. Coutinho's too slight to play in the middle and is great playing on the left at the moment. Christian Eriksen would be a great statement of intent by the club.

Wings:
Downing's improved of late and put in some decent displays but we still need a bit more depth and quality. I'd prefer Marco Rojas over Tom Ince in all fairness.

Up front:
Don't even need to comment on Luis. Sturridge has done well since he's come in too. I wouldn't be completely opposed to keeping Carroll, it's just you can't have a £35m striker on the bench and he wants to be playing.

Alderweireld and eriksen will almost certainly not join! As for the reading keeper I can't see him moving on as a number 2

I watch Marco Rojas every week and why anyone thinks he is good enough for Liverpool is beyond me. Good player, especially for a Kiwi. Possibly one of our only natural flair players along with Winton Rufer, but he simply is not good enough for a top end premier league club. Ince is easily twice the player.

KiwiRed

You were impressed based on what? It was his first match for 5 months.

Diame will cost considerably more than £3.5m - when something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. WH have confirmed he does have a buy out clause but it's over double that.

Rojas? Really? I believe Liverpool haven't ever looked at him. There will be 1000 better players available in the summer

Fair enough Sam let's ask ed002
Ed002 how much is diame's buyout clause? {Ed002's Note - There is no buy outclause in his contract, but there is a release clause - the provisions of which are unknown to me.}

Aka buy a whole team. without any departures what we need is a DM and a center back. top priority. if players leave things will obviously be different (Suarez etc. )

Winton Rufer.

Now there's a name.

Saw him play in the nineties.

What a player he was. I think he was World Player of the Year at some point? At his best, completely unplayable. Move, one touch, very strong hard to tackle - and incredible shot on him. Virtually every time he had a shot - it would either bullet in or the goalie had to make a save.

Drew

Yeah he was fantastic Drew. Not sure if he was world player of the year or not but was named New Zealand Footballer of the century - obvious choice really.

When he was drafted into the NZ national team set up as an 18 year old all the older players thought he was just a little git who thought he was a superstar. So to illustrate why he was in the national side the coach got him to take 5 penalties. Before each pen the coach told him which foot to use and which corner to put it in. So the keeper knew exactly where it was going every time and half the pens were with Rufer's weaker foot. Rufer scored 5 out of 5 penalties.

Needless to say the older players took more kindly to him after that.

Hi Eds,

Just wanted to know whether King Kenny has been approached for any ambassador role for next season?

PKMLFC {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

Rodgers won't want Kenny's shadow anywhere near the club

Noway would Rogers agree to that and if he did it would be a disaster for him been under pressure you may as well ask rafa to go up stairs because it's only a waiting game when that happens

It's been a crazy 72 hours, crowd trouble in the Millwall end at Wembley, disturbances after the North-East derby, the poignancy of Hillsborough memorial day followed by the atrocity in Boston. I'm extremely touched by the respects paid to the fallen at Hillsborough by fans of other teams and I'm sure everyone's thoughts are also with the people of Boston this fateful day. YNWA.

Ed001, on down the page you said Rafa held the 08/09 squad back until it was too late? When by late do you mean towards the end of the season when we were scoring for fun, because if so I agree on that point! {Ed001's Note - I meant that he should have let them attack from the start of the season, instead of waiting until it got midway through.}

16 Apr 2013 01:26:51
I really disagree, we scored 80-90 goals that season which is a highest in our history at the sametime achieved the highest points in our history other day those points were enough to win us league title.

A lot of fans and especially ed1 ingnores that our downfall was when we lost both our influencial players Torres and Gerrard, fans forget attacking wise we had no one who could replace both Gerrard or Torres or replicate what this players were doing that season, Gerrard was on fire something like 25-30 goals and 21 assist other hand Torres was on 19-23 goals and 13 assists which was impossibe to replace both of them at sametime, fans even forgott we just lost 2 games that season and were scoring freely, so I strongly disagree about negetive tactics or defensive tactics are you kidding we were not beating teams but actually trashing them, united trashed then with 4 goals, madrid we trashed them with 4 goals, newcastle trashed them with 6-7 goals etc I can go on and on if any fans or eds want in details with proofs! I repeat our downfall was when we lost Gerrard and Torres both of them at sametime which was the biggest blow and impossibe any manager could do anything without them.

King kenny

Really? You sign King Kenny?

Barring the newcastle game that if I remember correctly was between christmas and new year the other matches you mention were when we had thrown our advantage away at the top, rafa had had his rant about fergie and ultimately there was nothing left other than to have a go. For the majority of that season we played very controlled almost continental football, with a mentality of don't lose first rather than let's get the 3 points. We drew something like 11 games in that season and had we been more adventurous throughout the season I have no doubt we would have won enough to win the league. Of those matches we could have won 5 and lost the other 6 and won the league. So I have to agree with ed01 that the attacking football was left too late in the season. What was even more disappointing for me however was that after the tremendous end to the season we didn't carry that philosophy into the next campaign, instead reverting to the controlled measured approach.

Cheers
Greggers

Sam we get it, you love Rodgers. Good for you, the lad can sign off with whatever he chooses, don't nit pick at people because they can point to the fact BR has a massive way to go to even replicate what Kenny and Rafa achieved at the club never mind surpass them.

Waro

Ed001 schooled at last. don't know what he is chatting about when it comes to benitez.

We had our highest scoring season ever and you say he was too negative? Get a grip mate. As the OP said any manager or team would have struggled without Torres and Gerrard for such lengths of time.

All anyone remembers is that one season where Benitez didn't get it right and we finished I think 7th but everyone forgets the 5 seasons of over-achievement with the average squad of players he had at his disposal.

Ed001 you just don't like him as a person and you allow that to distort your opinions on his work as a manager.

Benitez got close to securing the epl and would have done with that points tally in any other season. we have not and will not come that close for a very long time so I find it unreal that Benitez is not appreciated by someone as knowledgeable as ed001. {Ed001's Note - grow up, it is nothing personal, I really like Rafa as a person. Far from being schooled, if you had read anything I had said, and had understood it, you would have seen I wanted that one season ever to be how we played all the time under Rafa. Unfortunately we only got one half a season, when it was too late and the following season he reverted to boring negative football. Instead of crowing, you might want to get things right. All you have done is talked utter rubbish about what I have said and not even been able to understand what I have said. If you are satisfied with one half season of attacking football, more fool you. I am sick of people like you trying to make it all personal because you can't get your heads round simple basic truths and have to claim some kind of bias. The only people who are biased are you Rafa worshippers who simply haven't got a clue what damage he did to the club. Personally I love Liverpool, not Rafa, and it is Liverpool that matters to me, I don't want a man in charge who spouts his mouth off constantly telling Balague every little thing that is happening and puts my club in serious danger of financial collapse.}

Dont worry waro i'm sure you, ll remind us of that fact.

I think ed001 just schooled you sun shine ;-)

Personally I do agree with ed rafa had his time now moved on if he was so good he wouldn't have gotten sacked and would of won the league that year it was his fault we didn't!!!
