Use our rumours form to send us liverpool transfer rumours.

16 Apr 2017 21:05:25
good day dear eds,

not exactly a rumor. but a local commentator has mentioned something about a change of rules for qualification to champions league this year where FOURTH position will meet with a CHAMPION only of a lower class leagues. which might prove to be abit of a difficult tie rather than the usual.

is this true?

many thanx.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, it is split for the last couple of rounds between Champions and others.}

16 Apr 2017 21:30:01
Here come TNS again lol.

16 Apr 2017 23:43:53
Probably, LAVERS, LOL.

17 Apr 2017 07:03:31
Let's hope we qualify first!

17 Apr 2017 09:32:27
Well done Origi.

It was a great performance for a 21 year old striker against a Pulis team.
He certainly gave as good as he got.

Hope it will quiten some of the posters on this site

Give the lad a chance. YNWA.

16 Apr 2017 21:05:56
Huge win today! Forget that united won, the last two games were must win but also games that we typically struggle in, so getting the wins and breaking that "only beat the top teams hodoo" is huge. I for one will admit thst I feared for us in games like these but we have won ugly again which is something we couldn't do earlier in the season and I think and hope it will stand to us going foreward both this season and next. YNWA.

16 Apr 2017 23:48:26
The players' attitude and approach to the game is what got us the win. Many like myself, have been saying it all season that our approach to games like this has been poor, lacking in desire, drive and belief especially in defensive situations. I saw a change of approach and attitude today and that should be the mantra going forward under Klopp's regime. You can't take games off in the PL or you will get punished.

We showed mental toughness, steel and professionalism in our game and we out-fought them and took the physical battle to them and that's saying a lot. Hats off to the players and he coaching staff as well as the awesome away fans. On to CP at home.

17 Apr 2017 05:36:54
Just disappointed that this change of approach and "never say die" attitude did not reflect in our matches in January and February. We would have been challenging for the title instead of 3rd or 4th spot. However, we atleast have figured out how to play sides that park the bus and rely on set pieces to undo our defense. Hopefully there will be no more slip ups next season after we add more quality to the squad.

17 Apr 2017 14:35:28
Our team has too many holes in it to challenge for the title right now and that was evident from day one so don't know why people keep going on and on that we were in a title race.

Remember, many of our fans thought the best we could hope for was 5th. Others even when further and said 6th. Now suddenly, people are disappointed we didn't win the PL? How some people work that out is beyond me.

Ed01 has said repeatedly that we are lacking quality in critical areas and until the recruitment dept is fixed from top to bottom, we will continue to struggle to get quality into the squad. Hopefully, that revamp is well under way.

16 Apr 2017 20:44:03
Today's game was poor all-around, due more to Tony Bullies' tactics than anything. But if one compares this match to that which WBA won against Arsenal, then it is not all bad, for the boys stood up and we're counted.

16 Apr 2017 21:39:05
Really good team performance today, and another excellent 3pts, away to a difficult team.
I was really impressed with Joel Matip . He gave a classy, assured, confident performance.
Well done lads. YNWA.

16 Apr 2017 22:21:26
And Firmino is looking an absolute bargain at £29 million.
What a player!

16 Apr 2017 23:51:41
The fact that we have come away with SIX points in both games that many of our own fans had promised us doom with 3 starters injured, is HUGE testament to Klopp's managerial ability and the players' self belief and determination to stand up, be counted and take the battle to the opposition on their turf and come out on top by showing grit, determination and guile. Hats off to Klopp and his staff and the players.

17 Apr 2017 05:38:54
Who cares about the quality of the game? We won, 3 points in the bag and next we give Fat Sam a kick up his a**e. Game management was good, work rate was fantastic and the defense (including Migs) did their job. If we had shown this same grittiness in January, our ambitions would have been much higher by now.

17 Apr 2017 14:36:47
Spot on, Buzzer. if you want quality, go youtube our games earlier in the season. This is Money Time and ONLY the points matter.

16 Apr 2017 19:59:47
Considering that other teams in the top 6 are still playing each other, I think 4 more wins should be enough.

Believable9 Unbelievable1

16 Apr 2017 20:31:51
4 out of 5 wins. yes please!

I'd say 3 wins and 1 draw.

16 Apr 2017 21:05:27
Even if united win there games in hand is say another couple of wins should see us through.

Never thought we would win the last 2 so the players seem to have finally realised what they are playing for.

16 Apr 2017 23:19:46
Id say 3 will do it to be honest but we should continue to take each game as a cup final. We may need them all and should leave nothing to chance.

16 Apr 2017 23:53:10
10 more points in the next 4 games will do the trick, IMO. Utd will not win all their games with that brutal schedule they have.

16 Apr 2017 19:44:31
I honestly think wijnaldum is under rated with his under the radar performances

Has chipped in with some vital goals playing from deep

I was skeptical when we first got him but he's been full value

Future vice captain at this rate.

Believable12 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - well he certainly went under the radar today pak..

16 Apr 2017 20:11:30
He does a job in midfeild ed . he kept good possesion in the end to calm things down. made good forward runs from midfeild too. Passing was mostly accurate.

{Ed025's Note - i will be honest with you pak, i did not realize he was even playing until he was fouled in the 85th minute mate..

16 Apr 2017 22:12:59
Gini is awesome and was awesome again today. Engine for days. Maybe at the 85th minute mark I remember watching gini sprinting around halfway to close down space like ut was the 1st minute. He is a very important player for us and whether he is a big name or a no name doing that role - a) it is a very important role and b) he does it very very well.

16 Apr 2017 22:40:58
I don't rate him, he scored some important goals but has also made some errors resulting in goals which probably cancel each other out.
He seems to play the easy ball every time, rarely takes a man on which is surprising seeing as he's a winger by trade.
I will say though that he's being played out of position and it's his first season at the club so hopefully he will improve.

16 Apr 2017 23:55:37
Cobra, you clearly don't know the job Wij does in the team. He has been great for us and this is coming from someone who slated his arrival. He made mistakes, So what? Take a number and get in line with the other LFC players who have made mistakes this season.

17 Apr 2017 01:15:48
I really rate him but I'm with Ed on this one, he was fairly anonymous for large parts today which was a shame as Can mostly dictated the game. He's been on great form of late but I feel he needs to be a bit more dominant and confident in his ability at times, often the more physical games. This is not a dig at him as I think he's a brilliant player but if he wants to own the CM position as I believe he can then this is the next step for him in my opinion.

17 Apr 2017 01:47:32
Never seen gini take a player on and beat? He took on players at least 4 or 5 times in midfield keeping the ball each time. You obviously don't understand his role in the team. Was that an easy ball he put through for fimino for his winner last week? Was the ball to firmino for milners chance an easy ball? Nope.

17 Apr 2017 03:09:05
Spot on, Faith. I saw exactly what you saw. Wiji has fantastic ability and this since his youth in Holland. He is no longer a box to box midfielder. He's now a CM who can also add goals and assists DUE to the fact that he can play the box to box role. The role he's playing now is the same one he played for Holland at the World Cup.

I propose that people use their eyes to watch the games instead of spouting off talking points and opinions of others cos they can't form their own.

17 Apr 2017 10:40:23
No longer a box to box midfielder? he's been an attacking midfielder prior to joining us.
My opinion is based on what I see, the general consensus on here is that he's doing well so I'd be agreeing with those views if I couldn't form my own.
Everyone is entitled to there opinion and today I thought he was the least affective of our midfield 3 and throughout this season he just hasn't done enough for me, he definitely wouldn't be in my starting 11 with a fully fit squad.

16 Apr 2017 18:11:40
I don't think Can was good enough last week, but today he looks like the best player I have ever seen in my entire life.

Also, my feelings about changing our keeper have suddenly changed seen as though he's playing for his future with only a number of games to go.

If they both keep it up like this, then it may be a good number of games before I criticise them again.

Sincerely,

The Liverpool Rumours banter page posters.

Believable12 Unbelievable5

{Ed025's Note - best player you have seen in your life davey??????...have you been locked in a cellar since you were born mate?, he was decidedly average today in a poor game, god give me stength..

16 Apr 2017 18:48:42
Slightly over the top analysis of Can there! He did play well today tho so fair play to him. Hope he keeps this level of performance up for the run in.

16 Apr 2017 18:50:36
I have close read your post Davey and see what you are saying! Never judge a post by the first sentence people! 😂😂.

16 Apr 2017 18:59:06
He is highlighting how fickle most fans Are.

16 Apr 2017 19:13:30
Can was not average can was superb today. Twice the player barkley is.

16 Apr 2017 19:04:32
He wasn't average Ed. He wasn't exceptional either but it wasn't a game to be that way. He was very solid and a key player for us today.

{Ed025's Note - he did his job to an expected level then XF if we are splitting hairs, but "the best player i have seen in my entire life" shout...come on mate ffs..

16 Apr 2017 19:18:48
Come on Ed, even I eventually got the gist of that post!

{Ed025's Note - your right kate...i think i need a few days off mate.. :)

16 Apr 2017 20:00:34
I'm embarrassed for myself for reacting before reading the full post! Lesson learnt! 😎.

{Ed025's Note - its a wonder we never bumped heads when davey caught us both on that one hook kate.. :)

16 Apr 2017 20:04:52
I didn't agree with his post but disagreed with your average comment. Maybe take a week or two bud. 😊.

{Ed025's Note - it cant be that long XF as you would have no one to give you a balanced view and keep you dreamers in the real world mate.. :)

16 Apr 2017 22:14:32
Davey got you ed. But you get plenty of other poster hooked on your little jabs too.! :)

16 Apr 2017 22:46:25
Being a fan for 30 years, believe me, I am living in the real world.

16 Apr 2017 22:14:34
We can't be the dreamers Ed, your lot are signing Isco and winning the league in 3 years over on your page 😂.

{Ed025's Note - isco wont get in our side next season den but he may make the bench, and 3 years is a bit unrealistic..we win it next season for sure, its written in the stars i tell ya.. :)

16 Apr 2017 17:54:33
I think we're in a strong position now to seal top 4. 3 and 4th is between us and the two Manchester teams. Arsenal face Southampton, stoke and spurs away. They'll definitely drop points within the next few weeks.
United and city play each other. It's in our own hands to seal a champions league spot.

Believable10 Unbelievable2

16 Apr 2017 18:06:39
Agreed big al, we have just come through 2 tough games with maximum points.

Palace next.

16 Apr 2017 18:53:01
Palace is a bit of a bogey team for us recently. If we manage to turn that around next weekend then I will see some serious progress for us this season. Up The Reds!

16 Apr 2017 19:32:10
We have never beat a pulis team away until today Kate so the signs are good 😊.

16 Apr 2017 19:46:10
One game at a time and we need to win em all to finish strong. looking forward to having hendo bank next game.

16 Apr 2017 20:25:18
I do t think Hendo will be back next game. I thought he was still a few weeks away?

16 Apr 2017 20:40:19
Hendo and Lallana still another game away I think.

16 Apr 2017 23:12:56
Palace with no Sakho. At Anfield. Should be three points?

16 Apr 2017 23:27:25
I know they're playing well but the spuds run in is hell in high heels, we could well catch them.

16 Apr 2017 23:59:02
Top 4 is ours to lose right now and we can even get 3rd if we win all our games. One game at a time and we will be fine.

16 Apr 2017 17:21:26
Man United are doing Spurs a favour and making the title chase very interesting indeed.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

16 Apr 2017 17:40:03
Would've preferred Chelski doing us a similar favour. Still, United have to play Arsenal, City, Spurs and soton all away so they'll probably drop points somewhere.

16 Apr 2017 18:07:35
And if they don't hb, it means city have dropped points, so as long as we do our own job, we will clinch it. I'm still nervous though!

16 Apr 2017 19:20:09
I don't know why but I just can't bear the thought of Spurs winning the league. Think they will too.

16 Apr 2017 20:09:02
Kate any reason why you dislike spurs, a personally would like them to win the title. 1) some one different and 2) rather than making it look like us been further away, if spurs win to me it puts us right in the mix next yr and confirms its mentally rather than talent we have failed this season. May that's just my crazy mind lol.

16 Apr 2017 20:22:08
To think, with 10 mins to go in the Bournemouth game we were going level with Spurs having played 1 more.
Then Spurs scored 3 and we conceded.

Small margins.

{Ed025's Note - then you has migs making 2 world class saves against stoke ken and hung on for the win...small margins indeed mate.. :)

16 Apr 2017 20:27:30
Knuckles, I think it's partly because of some Spurs fans I know who have always had it in for us. Also, it makes me rue our poor start to the year even more.

16 Apr 2017 21:34:33
Ha ha yeah total agree with the second bit like it does make u wonder what would be if that bad patch never happened mate. Maybe a few of our players are used to having breaks at xmas and there heads wasnt with it, altho that's just making excuses for them.
Ur spurs mates must of been right twats the ith you lol, well hopfully next season you get your revenge pal.

17 Apr 2017 03:26:16
Even as an Evertonian that you are Ed025, I must admit I find your analysis of Liverpool and even your banter very refreshing. Us reds always talk about blues being bitter, but you don't come across that way at all. Very good job indeed Ed025.

{Ed025's Note - cheers noski mate..

16 Apr 2017 17:16:46
Back from game. Fantastic vocal support, yet again, helped carry us over the line. Five more cup finals to go. Same application and we should be ok. Don't need anymore injuries as we're down to the bare bones. Fingers crossed for Hendo and Lallana to help with run in.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

17 Apr 2017 00:03:47
Spot on, Rome. The application, great attitude, and professionalism in our approach to the game was remarkable. Seems Klopp has turned a corner in his preparation of our players for such games. We showed drive, determination and belief through out as well as an ability to take the fight to them physically with Origi bullying their defenders. The way he threw Evans into the ground like a rag doll was priceless. Let that sink in. An LFC striker dominated the big, bad WB defenders. Now that's turning a corner, my friend. However all this won't count for crap if we don't beat CP at home next Sun.

16 Apr 2017 16:59:11
Match winning saves from our best keeper 2 games in a row now.

Well in Migs, not put a foot wrong.

Believable15 Unbelievable4

16 Apr 2017 17:24:13
Long may it continue, he has saved us some valuable points the last couple of games.

16 Apr 2017 17:41:18
Starting to make up for the many he's lost is over the years.

16 Apr 2017 18:04:53
Credit where it is due. He has been good past few games. Long may it continue.

16 Apr 2017 18:10:34
All you can ask is they improve hb!

He looks like a different keeper.

16 Apr 2017 18:30:28
Agree ko lo. His distribution too has massively improved, he's become more decisive and commanding his box.

16 Apr 2017 19:12:51
I appreciate Migs has been great but did you really have to have a sly dig at Karius?

I am genuinely embarrassed by some of the posts on here at times. Absolutely no need for that.

16 Apr 2017 19:35:29
Do you suffer a lot with embarrassment MK?

16 Apr 2017 20:29:06
Comes to something when we cream our pants at our goal keeper doing what he is paid for. How far we have fallen.

Surely we should expect decent saves now and again?

{Ed025's Note - to be fair taffy he has has a couple of blinders lately mate and deserves all the plaudits he gets, did you say the same when couts curled one in against everton that it was only a goal?...perspective my friend..

16 Apr 2017 21:21:57
He has had good saves but I remember when the likes off De Gea, Southall, Grobbelar, Reina had great saves and games. This is not a put down but I think because the goal keeper situation has been so poor we now accept decent saves.

I agree form been good but genuine question to fans. Would you still swap him for another keeper even based on these saves?

16 Apr 2017 22:02:44
Altho he has made good saves taffy ( which is why he gets paid huge amounts of money to do so may i ad) he is still a liability you only have to look at stoke last week where walters scored that header from, inside the 6 yard box that is his area to come and claim crosses.
He cannot do the bread and butter work, the work that top keepers like de gea and that do easily.
He still cannot command his area and his distribution is poor so if we to challenge for titles and top euro honours then he has to go that's my views mate.

16 Apr 2017 23:06:31
Depends who the other keeper is.

16 Apr 2017 23:18:40
I just don't get why you have to take an opportunity to put Karius down with the "our best keeper" dig.

It is either a shot at Karius, or a shot at Klopp. Why? We just beat West Brom away for the first time in 6 years and literally nobody had a bad game today. Karius didn't even play!

Don't try and turn this into a joke either by poking fun at me. Karius has literally been bullied out of the team this season by nasty comments. Just leave the guy alone for christs sake.

17 Apr 2017 02:26:59
Brilliant post, MK. Karius was hounded out of the team not by Kl nor cos he made two mistakes. It was cos of the vile, hateful comments of LFC "supporters" on social media who took sides with a manc pundit instead of supporting our very own a his lowest point. Those who did that to Karius, will forever be known as the shameful individuals that they are. The boy made two mistake. So what? Show me a GK who's never made a mistake and I'll show you a GK who's never played a game in his life. LLoris was a joke when he first arrived and so was Reina and De Gea. Their clubs stuck with them till they adapted.

17 Apr 2017 09:49:48
I don't remember Reina being "a joke".
To be a professional goalkeeper requires at least a modicum of mental fortitude and a collection of vertebrae.
Karius has been out of the side for 4 months now. Presumably it will be at least 8 months out before he plays a competitive game for us. That's a worry.

16 Apr 2017 16:57:55
MOTM - Firmino

Great game for the lad. He was everywhere and took his goal well. Great assist for Origi too despite the offside.

Mignolet also worth a special mention! Great save again from him.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

16 Apr 2017 18:28:14
And the other assist that should have been for Milner.

16 Apr 2017 19:14:32
As it has been for so many matches this season.

16 Apr 2017 16:48:13
The one day you'd expect Chelsea to do us a favour 🙄.

Believable14 Unbelievable1

16 Apr 2017 20:21:41
looks like utd have found a replacement for howard webb!

{Ed025's Note - your good KK mate.. :)

16 Apr 2017 20:23:28
We don't need to rely on Chavski.
To be honest I'd rather Man Utd lose on Thursday than today.

16 Apr 2017 16:30:40
What's everyone's thoughts on Ajaxs set up. Average age of 22 against Schalke and have played 1600 consecutive games with at least one academy graduate in there team. That possible in the Prem?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

16 Apr 2017 16:54:40
Of course it's possible. Just takes putting two fingers up at ridiculous fans demanding instant gratification in a context-less environment with no ramifications.

16 Apr 2017 16:56:34
Short answer - no.

Southampton are the closest we have to a side like Ajax in the premier league.

This league is far too high pressured, young players are hounded by fans after a few poor performances and money rules all meaning any players that look half decent are poached to play for "bigger" teams.

16 Apr 2017 16:05:32
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Lucas Leiva is an essential part of our squad and he proved it again today without being spectacular.
Our defence was resillient and the Matip-Loveren partnership is becoming special, Mignolet is hitting form and we are dealing better with set-pieces.
I was impressed with Origi and Can but I'd just give the M. O. M. to Firminho for his work-rate and goal.
A win for Chelsea at Mold Trafford should make life more comfortable but 5 more wins for us and we'll be guaranteed top 4!

Believable8 Unbelievable3

16 Apr 2017 19:11:39
I'm not so sure about this. Lucas did do well but he did make a few mistakes today especially conceding silly free kicks against a team that you don't want to concede against. Reading your point again though, you mention essentials squad player so perhaps you're right there. Performance wise, he was okay.

16 Apr 2017 19:49:26
Its only one clean sheet in last ten games i think so let's not get ahead of ourselves

Lucas a very important squad player though i hope we don't sell him.

16 Apr 2017 15:36:59
Another huge win in our battle for top 4. We weren't at our best but we grinded it out. Emre can was magnificent again in the midfield, he's on fire at the moment. The driving force in midfield. Lucas and wijnaldum also put in decent shifts. Firmino was excellent, especially in the 2nd half. Credit to mignolet who made a really good save. Up the Reds.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

16 Apr 2017 15:57:13
Cracking result today, must admit I didn't see us winning our last 2.
If united lose today I reckon another couple ns and its job done for top 4.

17 Apr 2017 03:13:00
If you were expecting us to be at our best with the players we have out vs a Baggies team away from home, then you clearly are asking for too much. This is the business end of the season where ONLY points matter, not aesthetics.

16 Apr 2017 15:33:40
Absolutely quality today! Not the bet performance by all means but definitely a team win, everybody did there job defensively today! Super 3 points in the bag! Top 4 is ours to lose now! Not one player played shocking today! Everyone of those players should be proud of what the team has done today! Nobody needs to be picking on anybody after today! Great team win! YNWA.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

16 Apr 2017 15:30:22
Not the greatest game to watch but back to back away wins 10 points from last 4 games all without hendo lallana and the mane for the last 2. can't grumble at that guys.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

16 Apr 2017 15:54:48
Well said, points on the board and a solid team effort, guts it out in the end. Thought Origi, Firmino, Can, Lucas, Migs all excellent and others put in a really good shift. Clyne looked a bit suspect at times though, not much quality delivery going forward and let a few runs in behind we were lucky not to be punished for.

16 Apr 2017 19:11:29
I thought the same about clyne, gets to the box or down wing and doesn't no what to do with it. Whole team deserves praise today. Klopp finally working out how to beat the so called lesser teams. With utd beating chelsea makes for an entertaining end to the season to say the least.

16 Apr 2017 15:27:13
Anfield Pete, we did the double over west brom. where did you say you were doing that nudie run?

Believable5 Unbelievable1

16 Apr 2017 15:26:41
MIGNOLET SAVES US AGAIN.

Scrappy game, but as Klopp said, its not about playing beautiful football every week, its about grinding out results, and that is exactly what we did. Not the best performance by any means, but proud of the team defensively. On a lighter note, I would have smashed my TV if WBA had equalized off of Moreno's miss.

COME ON YOU REDS!

Believable6 Unbelievable1

16 Apr 2017 13:39:23
Hey eds,

You stated previously that Clyne isn't happy at the club? Is that still the case?

Thanks in advance,

Scouserseb.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any issues at the moment. The problem he had was quite a while ago.}

16 Apr 2017 13:52:58
I went to the Nottingham forest game on Friday with my old man (forest fan) if there were any Liverpool scouts there looking at Brerton, we won't be signing him. He was shocking.

Believable0 Unbelievable4

16 Apr 2017 15:31:24
That's one game. My dad is also a forest fan and have been to about 9 matches this season. In all 9 of those matches he's looked a class above all the other players on the pitch. Definitely needs more time to develop (could loan him back for a year or two should we sign him) but definitely a player we should be looking to buy! Best youngster in championship!

Today has the potential to be either seriously depressing or absolutely brilliant. I hate West Brom away, horrible fixture and we're going to get bombarded in the air. Their centre backs are so threatening from set pieces, it's going to be heart in mouth every time I fear. I can also see Utd getting a result, they'll park their bus and hope for the best.
However, if we get a win and Chelsea win that would be huge for our top 4 chances.
Please Liverpool, win today!

I can't understand how vvd is being touted around at 50 million and Sakho at 15-20 million. Either Sakho is undervalued or vvd is over priced.

Believable10 Unbelievable2

16 Apr 2017 09:34:37
Well, it doesn't help that Sakho is considered to have an attitude problem and his parent club want to sell him. It's not purely ability based mate.

16 Apr 2017 09:36:05
Van dyk is a good defender but i think Sakho is better than Lovern/ Klavan any day. Him and Matip would be a good pairing.

16 Apr 2017 11:00:08
How many goals did Liverpool ship in when Sakho was in the team?

16 Apr 2017 11:36:12
50 48 and 50, in the 3 seasons he's been here, we're at 40 now with 6 games left so our defense is no worse without him,

16 Apr 2017 12:12:33
And no better with him.
Time to look elsewhere rather than wishing sakho is the answer.

16 Apr 2017 12:13:28
sorry this will fly in the face of opinion but at 50mil id rather keep lovren/ gomez/ klavan.

{Ed025's Note - good idea that bruffio...if you want to end up in the championship, you have to realize that its not your money so let the club spend as much as it takes in my eyes mate..

16 Apr 2017 12:24:55
I just think at 50m its way overpriced and i know its not my money and if he came to the club and had the liverbird on his chest id be behind him 100% but at 50 mil id rather try and get bonnucci from juventus at the price.

16 Apr 2017 12:55:53
I really do not care how much the club spends to sign a decent CB. We cannot go into a UCL season with either LOvren or Klavan as first choice CBs. Matip needs a decent partner with LOvren and Gomez as back ups. Klavan needs to go. Van Dijk is not the answer though. $0 million on Gimenez or Laporte is more like it.

16 Apr 2017 12:59:17
Spending big on quality players will pay back in CL qualification, premier league prize money and cups. got to invest big these days.

16 Apr 2017 13:04:24
A player is only worth what someone is willing to pay for them.

People can put a price on someone but it doesn't mean they will go for that.

16 Apr 2017 13:57:14
I don't get why your all struggling with this, its simple to me.

Sakho is not wanted by Liverpool so that decreases his value as no one will pay premium for a player buying clubs know selling clubs want rid of. also he has attitude problems which again decreases his value as no one wants to pay big money for a player they may want rid off once there in a position to attract better quality.

VDV is Southampton's best defender so he is there most valuable cb which adds to his price as they do not want to sell. he is also wanted by a host of rich clubs which also means Southampton can ask for even more in the hopes of starting a bidding war as one team will be more willing to pay for a player they think will be valuable to them.

there is no set price for players you have to take into account what he is worth to the selling club i.e Southampton need him to qualify for Europe. and what he is worth to the buying club i.e Liverpool want him to compete in the Champions League.

16 Apr 2017 15:45:01
I am not so sure matip is the long term answer but I also think it's so hard to judge how good he is due to the injuries we have had? We need a good solid partner for him and then we can see who our best pairing is. What are your thoughts eds 2? Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - There is no doubt that van Dijk is a good player but Lovren is no fool either. I think having a settled pairing will help the defence, but someone who could also play as a DM to replace Lucas might be the best option.}

16 Apr 2017 09:20:01
What do you guys think of us trying to sign Wilfred Zaha.

No rumours, just thinking.

Believable5 Unbelievable7

16 Apr 2017 11:19:00
He'd be a squad player at best imo and we'd probably have to pay £15m+ for him.

Don't see the point.

16 Apr 2017 11:44:59
And the rest. : if bolasie went for 30 mil then Wilf will go more than that.

16 Apr 2017 13:50:27
He's developed loads lately and had a really good season.

My question is though, where does he fit in? He plays on the right wing. Mane is clearly better. So we spend £40-50m (as that is what Palace will demand) on a guy who has had one good season at 24 years old and won't continue to develop because he is sat on our bench. He is at an age where he should be starting every game now.

Now it looks like our Brazilian duo are staying, we should either target an experienced back up to replace Sturridge (assuming he leaves; I hope we just keep him personally) or a wonder kid for us to develop into the next big thing (but again some will argue that we have Woodburn and Wilson) .

If none of our attackers leave and the youth are going to get chances we don't really need to sign anyone. However if Wilson is not deemed good enough to at least be cover we need a guy like Brandt or Malcom, and if Coutinho did leave we'd need a first team ready replacement such as Rafa Silva or Forsberg.

Zaha is not naturally a left forward so even if Coutinho left, he is the wrong player for us.

16 Apr 2017 16:05:42
We need to think about the types of players that can compete for winning the PL (either now or in a couple of years time) as well as compete in the CL against the best. Zaha isn't that player IMO, would rather we bet on Dembele or Brandt becoming that player.

I know that we all take the piss out of ed002 because she is a rodeo clown, but having read about rodeo clowns I found they can't get medical insurance. there is a rodeo clown called Craig miller who has been seriously injured and there's a crowd funding site for him and they are close to their target. im going to put some money in for the guy, if ed002 didn't have the same profession I wouldn't have even googled it. funny how the world works 😉.

She has a very deep voice for a clown.

{Ed025's Note - you could say the same about sam allardyce rob.. :)

16 Apr 2017 11:25:17
hahah must admit i was not expecting that 25, brilliant.

16 Apr 2017 01:20:15
Question for ED001.

Been reading the site for a fair old time now. cheers for all the effort you put in, I seem to spend half my life on here.

A few years back I vaguely remember Son-heung-min being touted as an option I think during Rodgers era before Spurs snapped him up. My question is a) were we anywhere near to actually putting pen to paper and b) do you agree that he would be/ have been a great fit in our current system?

All the best mate.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - not really mate, we looked at him but never got near to signing him sadly. Most of the links seemed to originate from me really wanting us to sign him, even though we so rarely sign the players I would choose for us. I think he would have been a great signing for us, though he might have got hounded out of the club by the fans after his first season, as he did not start well for Spurs. Shows the value of patience.....}

16 Apr 2017 09:16:05
Ed01 i remember speaking to jan molby on lfctv asked him we should sign at the time his big tip was Son higjly rated.

{Ed001's Note - Jan is not really in the know, and would not have been allowed to reveal anything on the in-house channel even if he had known something. Shame, I would have loved him.}

16 Apr 2017 09:48:16
Thought you guys said it was between firmino and son and we went for son first only to be told he wasnr for sale.

Then he went at the ebd of the summer.

16 Apr 2017 09:49:29
Sorry maybe used the wrong word- tip- opinion- he said son was one who hed like to see come to lfc- amongst others from bundasliga. Id spoken to him previouslyand he wanted suarez at that time. Another he said would suit lfc then was erikson.

16 Apr 2017 11:28:27
this day and age its really hard to be patient though. if karius is our no 1 next season, the moment he makes 1 or 2 mistakes that cost us points, everyone will be calling for his head again.

16 Apr 2017 02:11:45
My son was born on the morning of April 16 2014. Hillsborough anniversary New Zealand time. We were always going to name him Isaiah but given thensignificance of the day and the 25th anniversary, we wanted (well I did and my wife jumped on board haha) to include Justice as one of his middle names. Because in NZ its on the list of names ya can't really use without aporoval, we had to apply to Internal Affairs. We made our case based on our affinity to the club, the significance of the day to the club and the people of Liverpool, and the relevance of the word Justice and JFT96. They eventually approved and so we legally have Isaiah Ioane Justice Viliamu!

Now, 3 today, he has heard many stories of Liverpool, lay asleep quietly when stevie slipped away the league ( :p ), run around the room crazy after Lovren's header vs Dortmund altho I think he was just copying daddy and for 3 birthdays now has heard the story of hillsborough and why fighting for Justice was so important for the liverpool people and is important for all of us to fight for. He sings now as best as he can - "justice fodda nineny nix" haha

Anyways just wanted to share the story. And that whilst we may have times when we are at each other for whatever reason whether it difference of opinions or sometimes because we are not from the city. Just wanted the people of Liverpool to know that there are those of us from around the world who as deeply connected to the club as we can be whilst so geogrpahically diatanced. But we love the club as much as we can!

It wasnt just the football but also the stories of how Anfield rocked all night, how educated Anfield fans were and would applaud moments of brilliance from the opposition, how the people of Liverpool fought for Justice everyday. That a Samoan from New Zealand can be in love with a club in the way I am, I think that is something for your city and people to be proud of. #YNWA #JFT96 #JUSTICESERVED.

Thanks form sharing mate. My regards to little Justice. He'll never walk alone. JFT96!

16 Apr 2017 04:18:19
Great read that mate. It is amazing how we can all be so intense about something so far away, that many of us may never even get to see in person.

16 Apr 2017 09:19:47
Just seen this- belated happy bday justice ynwa.

16 Apr 2017 09:38:50
Awesome story. Thanks for sharing.

16 Apr 2017 10:02:34
Nice one faith in works. good story that and this is the type of thing that makes football great. Just goes to show u don't need to be there to support as some people say. Ynwa.
