Ive not written on here for a while. to be honest im a bit sick of reading so called Liverpool fans slagging off our team..
This time last year we couldnt get any worse.. we had a manager that couldnt manage a piss up in a pub, we had players that didnt want to play for us and owners that were scrounging every penny they could to fight to the death to make us bancrupt..
Fans called for new owners.,we got new owners.. Fans called for Dalglish.. We got Dalglish Fans called for money for new signings.. We got 100m spent
One game in and your all whining like children.. If were we are today isnt good enough then feck off to the United stadium and support Man City Otherwise give it a flaming rest, quit ya whining and start acting like the intelligent fan were reckoned to be by supporters of other teams Anyone that slags off the redmen after ONE game is a disgrace, You have absolutely no idea about Liverpool FC.

To win games you need to be watertight at the back. Liverpool are simply not that. I do not feel confident that we can keep clean sheets meaning we will need to score 2 goals to win games. Agger currently has a dead leg and may miss the Arsenal match but in any case will always pick up injuries. Skrtel and Kyriagos are simply not good enough to if you want to finish top four.

Quite simply we need to spend on a quality CB. If not we will not finish top four. Come on Kenny.

16 Aug 2011 23:14:25
Looks like KK and Commoli are modelling the team after Barcelona: focus on home grown players and youth team. Problem with policy is that British players are no where near the quality of Spanish players No matter how British we become, the result will be the same as this year: 6th place finish. (unless we somehow pip Tottenham this year).

No point looking into the past, but what were the boys thinking paying 35 million for Carroll? For that kind of cash we could have hired 3 or 4 more average British midfielders from mid table or relegated teams. Imagine a midfield of Henderson/Adam/Lucas/Cattermole/Morrison/Gerrard. We wouldn't win a game, but boy we would be strongly British

16 Aug 2011 23:05:20
Commolli was hired by FSG to do scouting, and they have clearly put their trust in his opinion (not to mention 100 million). I think he has done well, except for Henderson. I have watched him many times while he played with Sunderland, and he is energetic, but otherwise an average player on a mid-table team. The price tag is irrelevant. He is simply not star material. I think he will be the reason Commolli will have a short lived Anfield career

16 Aug 2011 22:50:49
Come on eds give us your opinion who we will sign next? I hooe Gary Cahill.

Did anybody read the interview where Suarez said that his brother, a baker in Uruguay, is a better footballer than our Luis? Well we put a bid in for him. But he turned us down and went on loan to Sayers.

For some of the lfc fans ..please please don't under estimate arsenal..mthey can stull carve through teams with a knife..they have don it plenty of times to us regardless of who they play.. So I don't think the players a give a rubbish if they have all their players or not..

Been wanting to write this for a while now and now seems like the perfect time. Since he arrived I have read hardly anything but negative comments about Andy Carroll, what ever goes wrong on the pitch Andy Carroll is to blame for. It is certain that he will always be faced with the 35 million sign no matter what he does. I could fear that even if he went on to have a brilliant season, it still wouldn't be good enough, it's still not enough for 35 million. AC never asked to be sold for that amount of money and he still has barely played for Liverpool only in very few games has he been on court for the full 90 minutes. He was bought from Newcastle injured, and the moment he was about to be fullt fit, he got injured again, frustrating yeah certainly, but most of all it's frustrating for the man himself. I am sure he wanted it differently, but still he is being faced with the worst kind of criticism. Particularly during pre season has he been slated by the fans over and over again. I read all the comments here, and the support of him is very far in between. When he arrived here in January, people were over the moon about it, and now I read so many commets like "sell him" and "he is the worst big signing ever" To be honest Andy has never gotten a chance, and now so many just want him replaced. He is young and a very promising player and his career was going fine when we bought him, he had a brilliant season in Newcastle and the season before in the premiership. But still he has barely played with our team's best. There's many new arrivels this summer, and Carroll is still quit new himself. When I saw the line up for the Galatassary game, I just knew he would be blamed for the possible loss, cause all summer we have read about building a team to support him with good passes and balls in the box, and then he gets to be in front of a team who didn't deliver anything, and still it's all Carroll's fault inI the end. I can't help but to consider the fact that he never wanted to be part of that last minute transfer plan in January, and throughout his life he never dreamed of being a Liverpool player. But still he made the moved and he has done everything to adapt to the new surroundings and all the hype. He is trying to adapt to a new team, that playes a different kind of football than where he came from, he was part of the Asia trip, he has represented LFC in a couple of charity events, so don't say he doesn't belong here, just because his been injured a lot and haven't enjoyed too much succes on the pitch yet. I am sure Carroll knows whats expected of him, he lives with the pressure everyday. That can't be easy for anyone, no matter how tough they are mentally. I will probably get slammed now for defending him, but thoght it was about time someone did, just wish people would cut him some slack and give hime the benefit of the doubt. I would hate to join the club of people wanting him to leave, but if i did, it would be from his point of view and not the fans, cause the negative comments have gone to far now. I wish Andy Carroll all the best and all the succes in the world, no matter where he plays, but I hope it will a succesful time in Liverpool.

Ed what's the code for fantasy football? {Ed002's Note - I can't help but many of our buddies can.}

Hi eds If you had to make any predictions who would you say we are most likely to sign and what positions? {Ed002's Note - Sadly, fantasy football just gets us in to trouble.}

Ed what are the chances of a Young VERY fast Forward coming into the club. A secret Weapon for 80th minute.

Like a young Owen. Someone that can make a impact, just run at tried defenders. {Ed002's Note - 0.92/10}

I can't believe it's Tuesday and I am still angry about Phil Dowd's shocking perfformance on Saturday. With two decisions one of which even Poll said was wrong he cost Liverpool two points. This could be the difference at the end of the season between fourth and fifth place. If I cost one of my clients multiple millions of pounds as a result of poor decisions I'd be rightly sacked but Dowd faces no sanction not even a reprimand or rebuke. He was poor in last season's derby and he was even worse on Saturday. It's time that the FA grew a backbone and gave the clubs a right to challenge poor referreeing decisions using some form of video playback technology and/or removed poor referrees like Dowd from the panel and sent them back to the under 12s Sunday league where their poor decisions don't have such serious consequences. Sorry for the rant but the anger from Saturday hasn't subsided and I needed to get it off my chest. If Richardson had been sent off and Carroll's goal allowed to stand we'd have been hailing a great opening to the season and our first three points focus the blame where it lies at the feet of Dowd. {Ed003's Note - And if two decisions go Liverpool's way in another match will you be equally as angry??}

Just wondering about Conor Thomas, a youngster we got on loan from Coventry in January. I thought he was going to sign permanently in the summer, but I see he is playing for Coventry tonight.

Does anyone know if we sign him permanently and have loaned him back, or did we not sign him?

RedSG {Ed001's Note - he was sent back to Coventry as he wasn't felt to be good enough.}

I have to say, I haven't seen the Gunners play so bad in a long long time. They look in complete disarray. Usually we are used to them knocking the ball around at ease, but tonight they can't string 2 passes together. Plus both left backs pulled up with hamstring injuries. This can only bode well for Saturday. Going forward, I hope Arsene keeps all his transfer profits in his pocket & doesn't buy anyone. I truely am stunned how poor they are. Happy Days

I am extremely suspicious of this Macca. His posts are incredibly accurate and yet I believe in Kenny when he says Liverpool FC are keeping everything behind closed doors. Whether Maca is guessing or not, he gets things right almost 100% of the time ... I would like to make this clear that I am not criticising you Mac, you seem like a genuine fella and I would love to hear the latest news you have to offer, if the Editors wouldn't mind.....

In true Columbo style, just one more thing...

I would point out that the Editors are just that. They do not get some special access to knowledge or information. Asking them constant questions is just wasting their time to be quite honest. It's also wasting ours as the readers.

This site is all about banter and democracy-so it's fine to criticise. However it's only the start of the season and we hav alot of players learning the system. Patience is a virtue and Kenny is the manager we always trust. We will go forward and win the league again, but we need to build. We're going in the right direction and have a good squad.

just watching the arsenal udinese game and i gotta say arsenal do not look like they will be in top 4 this season.the back 4 look fragile, no meat in midfield and toothless up front. god it hurts to say this but walcott looks like one their best players tonight. i know the team is depleted with injuries and players banned but i hope the play better than this at weekend i would much rather we beat a full strength arsenal than a weak one with half the team out do you not agree ed(s). thanx for a great site and keep up the good work

Such a shame gervinho won't be playing against us on saturday at the emirates, he's garbage, final ball is absolutely terrible, i watched the newcastle game and watching tonights game, he simply cannot kick the ball from his own feet to the feet of a player wearing the same kit as him, especially crosses, he can't beat the first man, he's a tragic buy from wenger,
terrible 1st game, got sent off, showing no real quality, sounds like joe coles debut, lol, only good thing about gervinho.....he's fast, but so what,

We have henderson who played on right wing in last game.we also have maxi and cole.
There is one thing common in those three players they come inside when they play on wing.
Our one out and out winger is downing.for every reason I can make out why would we want to sign yossi who is not a out and out winger.he will not give anything new that we don't already have.
He for me be a signing only if we sell maxi or cole.we have to remember raul also sometimes play on right.
Also we have bought one of the best young english box to box CM why are we playing him on RM.he looked so uncomfortable there.
Please we need 1 more out and out winger.god forbid if there is any injury to downing then andy will be left upfront like a tank without ammuniation.

I think it's pretty shocking those who are getting on Andy carrolls back He may not have the flair of Suarez or the reputation of aguero but have a little faith We say "you'll never walk alone" but right now theres a lot of people on here who clearly don't know the meaning of this

Chelsea paid 50m for an out of form striker on a handful of goals... Why wouldn't Newcastle ask 35m for their inform game winner
35m in my opinion is to much for any player, the prices thrown around in footy these days are crazy but this isn't his fault When Torres couldn't be bothered and refused to chase down anything that didn't land straight on his plate we still sang and bounced How about we show Big AC the same love and maybe he'll find that extra something... Though to be honest I think he's coming on great

YNWA - so let not make andy

Arsenal seem to have added alot of Pace to the team this summer.
Man utd have bought the age of the team down, with younger players.
Man city have bought everyone and anyone.

They are all trying to beat Barcelona this year in the champions league. If Wenger brings in Spine to his Team, EG Javier Mascherano, Renia, Two Fast & Strong CBK's Some kind of spine for the talent play around. They could beat Barcelona in the champions league.

I don't think Man utd will beat them, they have a good standard, but since ronaldo, Teves left. Rooney has been their best only player for too long.

So wondering about Liverpool. Say they get into the champions league, Next season they will have built to win Champions league. Is liverpool going to up the wages at the club. Are they going better players.

I would like to see the team built around Luis talent. One Touch attacking players that can pass very well.
Also Lucas DM, we need someone better in the centre to break up play in cl.
Faster back line, well faster stronger center backs would change LFC attacking style. Allowing them push up higher

Also Wingers something special > Messi or Ronaldo, Beckham,

16 Aug 2011 19:45:43
Ed why was Raul Meireles left out of the starting team. he was our best performing player towards the end of the season. I can't believe that kenny wouldn't use him.

Board-room shouldn't have anything to do with the football side of business. If he is a LFC Liverpool he should be competing for a starting place. {Ed001's Note - because he is not as good as the players in the team, it is that simple.}

16 Aug 2011 19:42:24
Ed: this is a bit long, so I perfectly understand if you don't post.
I have prepared a simple scenario for all you Aguero fans out there (a scenerio is where you pretend something, like the way you pretend you're Liverpool supporters). There's lots of numbers here, so you might want to take your shoes off so you can count along.
Pretend: Liverpool match Atletico's valuation of Aguero. Surprisingly, City do not increase their offer, accepting that Liverpool have beaten them to the player. Liverpool agree to the players wage demands, signing him on a 5 year contract at £225,000 per week.

This triggers a clause in Steven Gerrard's contract which ensures he is the highest paid player at the club. He automatically receives an extra £85,000 per week for the remaining 2 years of his contract.

Luis Suarez is unhappy that a player he outperformed in the Copa America is earning three times as much as him. He is further unsettled by unofficial approaches from Man City who, having missed out on Aguero, are now targeting him to replace Tevez. Liverpool try to convince Suarez to stay by offering him a new 5 year contract at £170,000 per week. Eventually, Suarez accepts the contract, but there are rumours suggesting he is less than happy receiving 50k per week less than Aguero. All other players are informed the club will not be offering them improved contracts. Reports suggest that several Liverpool players are extremely unhappy with the situation, and will consider their options at the end of the season.

All the costs:
Transfer fee £38,000,000 (real, but higher if there was a bidding war)
Wages £55,000,000 (reportedly)
Gerrard wage increase £ 9,000,000 (real)
Suarez wage increase £ 26,000,000 (pretend, but extremely likely)
Other wage increases £0 (extremely unlikely)

Total cost of Aguero £128,000,000

Now put these figures in perspective: £128 million is more than 3 YEARS match day revenue based on last seasons figures. It is about a third of the cost of building a new stadium. Small change for a billionaire looking to amuse himself with a real life version of LMA manager. But a suicidal amount for a real football club to spend on one player.
(Sorry for such a long post) Red Steve

16 Aug 2011 18:53:17
@kopfiend 1978ynwa

Are you of diminished mental capacity, illiterate or simply dumb?
I don't see Jamie Carragher as being a KEY player.
Main reason he gets the nod is because Kyriakos is garbage and Skrtel's hit and miss.
Once we get in another centre back he'll take his place on the bench.

Secondly, you mention that Utd's signed Phil Jones.
is Jones a KEY player for Utd? No.
He was brought in as back-up. Those players I was talking about are regular starters, key players, hence Jones' omission.

As for City being a credible challenger, I bet last season you tipped them to walk into the CL.
City could and SHOULD have won the title by now with the players they have, but for Mancini.

What I doubt, cretin, is Mancini's ability to mould City into a TEAM, give it the inspiration, discipline, spirit and fight needed to successfully compete-- not the players they have.

It's what Ferguson has given the Utd team; it's what sets them apart from the rest; it's what set Chelsea apart from the rest during Mourihno's tenure.

If you nounce think City have automatically become credible challengers, then you so clearly, like many others, don't know your football.

This game isn't played on paper. If that was the case, your City would've won 2 every trophy domestically; Madrid would also have done the same by now.

Their Community Shield game against Utd at Wembley showed why City STILL HAS TO prove themselves as a credible challenger.
What set Utd apart from them is what Ferguson gives that team, which Mancini CAN'T and likely won't.
I'll leave you nounce to figure it out.

Hi Ed, not too worried about last game great first half, agreed not great second, but will need a few games to start gelling together, however the bench was a worry, no Aquilani, Cole or Shelvey, I am aware Meireles was there but no real game changing ability on the bench, I know Aquilani wants to leave but why not play him until sold or Gerrard Fit ? I know he could get injured but if theres no one in for him then does it really matter your thoughts please Ed

Jim {Ed001's Note - little point playing a player that weakens the side, as Aquilani does, for all his creativity he is too weak for the English league.}

At the risk of repeating my earlier comment, it would be nice if this site returned to its banter and rumour roots, instead of a forum for fly-by-night supporters to slag off a manager who has a PROVEN track record, and certain players who are new to the red jersey (and picked by afore mentioned manager) before they have had a chance to prove themselves. Yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but, and its an important but for me, WE ARE LFC. Clubs and fans around the world acknowledge the love and support LFC fans give to the club. Many are jealous. Many appreciate and respect (werent Mourinho and abramovitch blown away by our support at a certain CL semi-final?)

Yes, give your opinion, but just as we expect players to give their all for the red jersey, We as fans should give all our support to the players and manager. because we also represent the club.

YNWA - for the anonymous snipers, take a moments thought about what those four letters stand for, if you dont get it, take a trip up the M62 - perhaps youll find what your looking for up there....

Hi fans,

I was born in California where there aren't many football supporters let alone Liverpool supporters. I was a teenager when I first found this site back when it was just football rumours. I read it everyday and it works out because I am 8 hours behind you guys so when I get to work I get to catch up on all the action and it is definitely the best site to follow to get all the information needed for LFC. Respect to the Eds..

I have to say that I am so disappointed in the lack of support for our team since Saturday. This is one game which I think wasn't even that disappointing. Hopes were high going into the game but hopes are always high when you follow this great club. The first half was sublime for me. Suarez was everywhere, Downing was too much for Sunderland to handle, and even Carroll worked hard and controlled the ball against a Wes Brown that had to have made Fergie feel some regret. Lets give credit to Sunderland who are going to be better than most of the teams in the league and frankly looked better than Arsenal and Chelsea did last weekend.

Lets relax a little and let a couple games go by before we get so upset. These boys need our support if they are going to settle quickly and slating them is only hindering them. Confidence is a wonderful thing and if a team has it then they can do anything. So after all that the first people we should look at to get our team's form up is ourselves. If you believe in them and show it then they will too and they will fight with everything to win.

Lets get behind the team we have cause it is the team that is going to play every week.

Cheers,

Niko

Hey Ed, whilst im pretty sure a cb and possibly pushing it, a back up striker will be our last incomings this summer. After what Kenny said about the money being there for further additions, do you think theres much chance of a another winger coming in? For me we'll see the best out of henderson in the middle rather than right.

Thanks

I think its interesting that we played 442 on Saturday when a 433 may stop the hoofing it up top. I would like to see us try a 433 with AC up front on his own and LS/SD as the wide players. We could drop henderson and play with Lucus and Adam as the holding midfielders and SG/RM/RA as the attacking mid. With a potential man over in midfield hopefully we could hold onto the ball a bit better.

Suggesting that Damien Comolli is in Spain on a HOLIDAY is ludicrous. Fifteen days left in the transfer window, give me a break. Kenny might as well take some time off during the holiday fixture list in December if that's how you feel LFC is now being run. Almost choked on my morning coffee at the thought, a good laugh to kick off my day with.

Wesmeister's observations (2008/09 base year):

KEY PLAYERS TO HAVE: LEFT
-MAN UTD:
*Ronaldo
*Tevez
*Scholes (retired)
*Neville (retired)
COME IN:
*Valencia
*Hernandez
*Young

CHELSEA
LEFT:
*Carvalho
*Ballack
COME IN:
*Ramires
*Luiz
*Torres

THE GOONER
LEFT:
*Toure
*Eboue
*Clichy
*Fabregas
*Adebayor
*Nasri (imminent)
COME IN:
*Vermalaen
*Gervinho

LIVERPOOL
LEFT:
*Arbeloa
*Mascherano
*Alonso
*Torres
COME IN:
*Johnson
*Enrique
*Downing
*Adam
*Suarez
*Carroll

I think it's fair to say that, bar City, we're the most improved side since the 08/09 season. Utd are weaker now than they were in 08/09; Chelsea are more or less the same; the Gooner have significantly weakened, a lot more than the others.

Lucas' proving to be lot more than a capable replacement for Mascherano. Only player we've yet to adequately replace is Alonso.
Adam's no Xabi, but he's just about the closest we've come.
Plus his ability from a deadball sets him apart and will come in handy for us, as he showed this Saturday.

Another important observation made by Wesmeister pertains to age.
The following are key players from rival teams approaching or in the twilight of their peak (and are/have slowed down and will likely suffer injuries often:

UNITED:
*Ferdinand
*Vidic
*Evra
*Giggs

CHELSEA:
*Terry
*Cole
*Bosingwa
*Essien
*Lampard
*Malouda
*Drogba
*Anelka
*Torres

LFC only has Stevie .
(I chose only Utd and Chelsea simply because they'll be the main competitors. Despite City's additions, I remain unconvinced by Mancini's ability to mould them into a credible challenger.)

Contrast that with these players, who are all about to enter into their best years:

*Reina
*Johnson
*Agger
*Enrique
*Lucas
*Adam
*Suarez
*Carroll
(*Cahill/Godin-- should we sign either, as seems likely.)

In short, our rivals have more key players who are on the slowdown than us, and replacing those adequately replacing those players won't be no child's play, as Utd have found out with van Der Sar and Scholes.

We, conversely, will have virtually every member of our 1st XI in his peak years.
I didn't mention Kuyt and Carra as I believe that, once a new centre back is brought in and Hendo gets in his stride, they won't be first choice/key anymore.

A young team of great experience.
Gentlemen, we ARE set for a return to the pinnacle.
FORGET what the "pundits" and opposition fans alike say.
Anything WILL season.

I seem to remember the Gooner being written off 09/10, yet went on to have a blinder, albeit bottling it.
Utd were also deemed also-rans, but they won it.
City in 09/10 were expected to walk into the CL, look what happened.

If there was ever a truer thing in football, it's that anything can happen in this game.
We've seen this happening over and over again, yet people don't learn, they just don't.

Well, let's sit up, wait and see. I expect that many will be shocked.

With reference to previous banter how can we get behind the king if what the rumours are saying that we are interested in McCourt and Bassong especially what fees we might pay for these players (who really should not even be on the Liverpool radar) judging by the fees we have just paid for certain individuals. {Ed001's Note - because the rumours are not true.}

HI eds, most people are calling for a
new c/b and I agree we need at
some point to replace carragher
his replacement has to be
someone special who can
organize the the defence a job
carragher does very well.we need
a forward a game changer like
suarez the question is who & lets
hope suarez stays injury free.
most people seem to be
discarding spurs from the top
four while harrys there dont.
Against sunderland with so many
new players gerrard was missed
not so much for his game as his
PRESENCE.

I must have been watching a different game to you. we where very close to being wimbeldon mk2 at times, all the long ball rubish to carrol was painfull to watch. as fans we are all allowed our opinions

-----------------------------------------------

You must have been. In the first half we were passing and moving through the middle, getting the ball out wide and then putting in the crosses, it was all very good to watch. Towards the end of the game a lot of balls did get humped forward, but we were chasing the 3 points so I will not slate the effort. Once the team have played a few more games together, you will see what the king has done.

RE:A Yank's perspective:

Mr Mr Mr we havn't gutted the team, LFC still could play a lineup from feb 2011

Carrol + Suerzes where jan siginings. its only Downing, Henderson, Adams + RBK. They are all proven premiership players who have been here before. They look as if they have hit the road running. So i guess its bull that lfc will lose starting 10 games.

Adam looks like the same kind of player he was last year. + downing too Enriques is nothing special just soild fullback. I see them being Match Fit by the Manchester utd game.

i am a liverpool fan and sick of all the caroll dom and gloom so heres a little thing about one of our best strikers Rush was used sporadically during his first season at the club as Liverpool had a policy of bringing in young talent and playing them in the reserves to learn 'the Liverpool way'. Rush was treated no differently and had to begin his time at the club as a squad member rather than being thrown into the first team.
This learning period was hard and not at all 'Rush-like', as the goals didn't flow, almost leading to the eager youngster leaving Anfield in the search of regular first-team football. But after a talk with the very shrewd Paisley, who told him to "be more selfish in front of goal", Rush decided to stay and fight for a place.
Rush's first goal for the club took time to arrive, but it eventually came on 30 September 1981 during a European Cup first round second leg tie at Anfield against Oulun Palloseura. Liverpool had already won the first leg at the Raatti Stadium 1–0, and the second leg proved to be a formality as they trounced the Finnish team 7–0, Rush scoring in the 67th minute after coming on three minutes earlier for David Johnson.
His first two league goals came on 10 October 1981 in a 3-0 home win over Leeds United, and a month later he scored in the Merseyside derby at Anfield in a 3-1 win. After Christmas however, Rush went into overdrive as Liverpool began a dramatic rise from mid table to the top of the table. He scored a hat-trick in the 4-0 away league win over Notts County on 26 January 1982, and was on the scoresheet in both of the next two games. so give the lad a chance u just dont no

Assually I understand some people(lfc fans) about the fees paid for carrol and henderson. But my thought is that they are not bought for one match neither one month but for years. C. Ronaldo, Bale, Macherano,Rooney all have for one time f***ed up and critics reigned on them. So Back both of them up especially carroll and let him feel the support. Let him believe in himself and let him hve confidence with your supporrt and encouragemnet words. Liverpool for life.

----------ramsey-diaby-rosicky---------
------walcott-----rvp------arshavin---------
vs
------------------reina-----------------------

i for one have enjoyed this site for a long time, i have also enjoyed other fans coming on here slating our great club.

the one thing i HATE and i mean HATE with a passion is our own so called fans slating off our new signings, the same fans wanted Kenny back and had there wish, now the same fans are doubting his transfer choices.

give the team time, the players we have bought are at the right end of their careers and will only get better, we have in the past bought players who have come in and performed poorly and they have been at the wrong end. if you are true fans get behind the team, get behind the new players and have faith in the King.

A Yank's perspective:
Living in the US, I am forced to watch baseball all summer long on ESPN... And while I'm not a baseball fan, I can see a lot of parallels between Joihn Henry's Boston Red Sox and LFC this year. The Red Sox were the pre-season favorites to win the World Series after all of their off season aquisitions, and how did they begin their year? By losing 10 of their first 12 games. The fans and the media were already writing off their year, saying that they're doomed to have a terrible season... Where are they now? In first place in their division.
The point I'm trying to make is that quality players need time to gel and become a team. Great players will show their quality even if they stumble off to a troublesome start... The season is long, and I know that we do not want to give any points away at the beginnning of the year, but let's get behind our team and appreciate the talent we have I was watching the Sunderland game with my 7-year-old daughter, and she was amazed at how many players we had on the pitch that were not even Liverpool players when the season started a year ago. Think about the starting XI against Arsenal last August... Cole? Ngog? Jovanovic? I'm sick of these "fans" coming onto this site and complaining about our team. Just think of how far we've come in a year, be patient, and be thankful that we have a deeper, more competitive team that can genuinely challenge for silverware, a top 4 finish, and possibly even the league... We have a great owner, a terrific manager, and if we, the fans, stand behind our team like we always have, we are capable of amazing things...
I, for one, believe in what Kenny is doing, so I'd appreciate it if some of you would quit acting like spoiled children and remember that the reason our team will "never walk alone" is we, the fans, will ALWAYS support them...

Source SSN - "Liverpool are believed to have made a tentative enquiry about McCourt's availability following his stunning showing for Northern Ireland against Faroe Islands last week."

Surely a 27yr old who struggles to get into an SPL first team is not good enough for LFC. Granted he had a good game last week but a major lack of consistency and poor work rate would for me make this a bit of a nonsense.

To move forward we need to be looking at players that IMPROVE our squad and not go back to the Tom and Jerry days of recruiting poor quality.

I am shamed by some of the negative nonsense being dribbled out on this site at the moment regarding certain players, or KK's choices, etc.
Forgive me, but arent we a whole 90 minutes into the season?
However, what I find telling is that the majority of the negative posters are anonymous. Posters signing their name (often with YNWA as well) at least offer views that whilst not always full of blind faith, are nearly always views of true fans with the interests of our great club at heart.

So back the manager, back the players who wear the shirt, and skip the slating of our club unless you have the balls to put your name after your comments.

Why people are judging our chances in the league after one game is beyond me. If its anything to go by the champions would be either bolton or city according to these so called fans. At least wait until ten games in to predict our chances, maybe u would have more of an idea how things will pan out. At least support your team instead of calling the players that you dislike every name under then sun. If you're not going to to do that you might aswell not support this great club.

I am posting this because some LFC fans appear to be insane.

Why do people have a beef with the 35million pound price tag paid for Andy Carroll. He delivered last season, and he will deliver this season. He is the best big man in the premier league, and one of the best strikers in the premier league definitely.

The whole point of having someone like Carroll is that he adds a completely different dynamic to the game. The pace and trickery of Suarez allows us to create chances inside and outside the box. Any long balls and set pieces can be picked out by Carroll.

You have Charlie Adam, an unbelievable player, who has great feet and great accuracy (as we saw from the set piece which created the goal against Sunderland) and Stewart Downing who can supply Carroll and can create excellent chances on his own.

All this crap about Carroll being overpriced is nonsense. We paid the fee because we wanted the player. The fee associated with him is not our valuation of the player, but more a fee which shows how indispensible he was to Newcastle.

Look at other players in the world:
Hulk: Porto declined an 83million pound bid for the player. He has a buyout clause of 130 million.
Fabregas: Buy out clause of 175million.

These amounts reflect the value of the player to that club. So stop getting so bent out of shape because we spent 35 million.

We got rid of Fernando Torres And if we look at what each player has done for their respective clubs since their arrival, I think you will find without a doubt, that we made the better investment.

RuncornRed {Ed001's Note - you also forgot to mention that Suarez's goal came because the defence was so busy organising who had Carroll and watching him that they let Suarez get a run on them. A striker like that can add more than just goals, they cause mayhem for a defence.}

16 Aug 2011 12:49:02
For all the fans who are slagging of the beast Andy Carroll go back to your own page and start talking about De Gea. Cannot wait for Carroll et al to start smashing some shots at him, think it could be funny.

Hi fellow Reds & Eds,

Just a quick couple of notes:
1) Flanno is only a kid and will make mistakes, Carra did when he was his age, he ll learn and he'll improve.
2)IMO Martin Kelly and Kuyt should start against Arsenal on the right hand side
3) Hendo,Adam, Carroll,Downing and Enrique will gel after a game or 2. I ve no fear of that.
4) Eds, who do ye think is a realistic target for CB and striker?

Rebel_Red {Ed001's Note - there are a lot of realistic options for CB, the problem is that realism and quality don't often go together! Really the only realistic options are Dann, possibly Cahill (though Bolton seem to have decided they would be better off losing him on a free if need be), or taking a punt on a defender from abroad. Even then you can rule out a large number of clubs and it is a case of looking for a hidden gem from the lesser teams such as Musacchio. Striker is even more difficult, what striker worth having will want to come in to back up Suarez and Carroll when the team has no European football meaning less chance of them getting time on the pitch?}

16 Aug 2011 12:35:01
If its true that LFC will not be buying
anyone else then it will be a mistake.
LFC do need a quality centre back.
The team when defending seem to sit
back due to the lack of pace in Carra.

16 Aug 2011 12:25:48
It think its too early to start dissing Andy.
the boy has potential and He will deliver. From what I saw of the valencia goal a fortnight ago. He is a goal shark, just like Kuyt, just like Suarez. Chances will come and so will the goals.
Mind you the guy we sold has not hit the back of the net either and we got 50 big ones for him.

ppl do have dry spells its football, its life. look at Rooney.

Sad to see so many posts about why we didn't buy Aguero. Its a ridiculous, illogical way of thinking and goes to show how quick todays 'fan' will jump on any bandwagon (apart from us true supporters of course).

Have many of you forgotten Carroll's brace last season against Man City? Two better goals than Aguero's last night. Roll on Saturday, Arsenal can be there for the taking.

With reference to previous banter which states that we are starting to act like Newcastle fans due to the fact that we want immediate success - well we do want success but we will not achieve it if kk wastes lots of money on Carroll and Henderson ..... FIFTY FIVE MILLION POUNDS IN TOTAL. We need two central defenders, one right back and another midfielder if we are going to challenge the top four. {Ed001's Note - right back? Two centre backs? *shakes head in amazement*}

Hi Guys..
Saw the match on Sat. We played brilliant in the First Half, But then lost a bit in the second...charlie adam..was great..as too Saurez...but the only drawback was Henderson..kuyt should have played over him and KK knew it..after the game...
Ed what you think...Y did we buy henderson? to play RW?
Also whats the issue with kelly? was he fully fit? if yes why he did not made it.

I have only one worries. if do not qualify for CL, we might loose Suarez. and we cant blame him..he is brilliant and would still liek to see Mata and cahil in REds.

common..
just imagine. suarez, carrol, and mata..we will tear the defence.
what you say ed? {Ed001's Note - I am happy with Downing personally, he provides more width than Mata would do. I think we bought Henderson to play on the right, as a right sided midfielder.}

Where is all this fuss over Aguero coming from.
Him and Suarez are the same player, and if I had to pick one it would be Luis all day long. And anyway, I thought Silva was by far and away
the standout player for city. Stop Silva and you stop city.

Rumour has it, That Liverpool supporters were once the greatest in the world All i seem to see now is a bunch of moaning b**ch's Slating their own players after 1 game What happened to supporting the team you love? No team has a divine right to sign the best players in the world No team has a divine right to win the league year after year, Just 12 months ago the club was facing administration and being shut down was a very real possibility. We are top 4 contenders again and for that to happen you have to credit the Owners, Management and Players Its time for Us to do our bit too..... During the First half against Sunderland Anfiled was rocking and the performance mirrored the support.... Second half the atmosphere had vanished have we started kicking out one set of supporters at HT and bringing in a new set for the second half?

Being honest and not speaking with blind allegiance where do you honestly think LFC will finish this year... predict your top 4 and bottom 3.

3. Liverpool
4. Chelsea

18. Blackburn
19. QPR
20. Swansea

great site ed, but where hearing rumours all over the place. paddy mccourt, cahill, shawcross, dann? then theres players out, ngog, to bolton around 4 mill, chelski after raul, for about 12 mil. then joey off on a free and poulesen off for about 1 mill to west brom, then theres rumours were kickin degan and el zhar out the back door. dont know about brad jones, that ones gone quiet. and then theres been talk of a back up stiker in park chu young. Surely between the macca and the eds one of you can give us fans some inside knowledge? i'd love you to try and explain whats going on right now as were all confused.....are we still in the market for players? is it likely we'll get rid of the dead woood?

A weakened Arsenal on Sunday to be without
Fabregas
Nasri
Denilson
Eboue
Song
Clichy
Gervinho
Bendtner
potentially injured Wilshere as well.

Hope we can take advantage of this it will be a tighter game than usual.

Also can we stop talking about freakin Aguero he plays for CITY NOT LIVERPOOL

We are all entitled to our opinions and I must agree with most supporters that we paid well over the odds for Carroll and Henderson. We need two central defenders cos come saturday when we lose to arsenal we will be near the foot of the table, pull your finger out kk and stop wasting money.

Why are us Liverpool fans starting to be like the Newcastle fans demanding success and being so synical after only one game, i cant believe the stick that Andy gets and young Henderson it takes time to settle in to any team. I watched the game against Sunderland and thought there was some really good positives to take from the game, all you moaners about Downing have now shut up so get over yourselves and let our new players settle in.

As for new signings I dont see any more and I believe Comolli has already said that this is our lot, which looking back 12 months the management team and owners have done a great job stablising the on and off the field affairs and I would have taken this squad over the one that Rafa and Hodgson left us with.

just been on one website where the headlines read "Enrique backs brilliant Carroll" ............ BRILLIANT - you are having a laugh, remember this guy cost 35, yes 35 million pounds

16 Aug 2011 10:56:01
I know fans are saying leave off KK for his transfer dealings as the team needs time to gel - but lets be fair he really did pay well over the odds for carroll, henderson and adams. {Ed001's Note - we don't have an Adams! And if you knew anything about the lad, or bothered to watch him play, you would see we got a bargain there.}

top strikers :
falcao
benzema
david villa
torres
higuain
soldado
cavani
van persie
rossi
gomez
lopez

all top strikers but we get carroll why just why :/ ?

Kraze LFC {Ed001's Note - seriously? You post a list of top strikers and fail to include Suarez, who we have. We don't need a player like Suarez getting in his way, that is why we don't have one and got Carroll. Now if you want to post a list of big men who could play alongside Suarez you might have some hope of not looking like you know nothing about football and are just whining for the sake of it.}

N who eva dnt trust in kenny ur nuts

Not a rumour itself, more a critique of other rumours.

The proposed multi-million pound transfers, the marquee signings etc are all very well, and would be fantastic if they all came true and we could keep them all happy, but based on what KK and DC have done so far we are only buying areas we are desperate for.
With this in mind, based on saturdays game only, what we really seemed to lack in the second half was a midfield dynamo. Someone who as soon as the pace started to drop as it did, would take the game by the scruff of the neck and drive it forward- like Stevie does- a leader.
If, as is feared, stevie's injury is as bad as rumoured then this is a genuine area we need to look at and that is why i see credence in the rumours of Xabi Alonso. Ok highly unlikely but the only viable option for this role. He is proven in the premier league, is a half step away from world class and knows the expectations of the club/fans and will use this to drive the game. You could argue where adam and lucas would fit in this mould but good to have on the bench, adam only seems capable of playing well for one half anyway.....
If we buy only one player now it should be Xabi. bring the boy home. All other transfers are surplus to requirements.

Morning all
Despite the draw saturday i feel positive about the team and i'm not liking the negativity. I find it very hard to be negative even in the darkest of times (Hodgson Rule).
However, I do agree with some of the posters on her and although we looked good at times we are still missing another winger. Downing looked class on either flank which increases our options.
I am sure the transfers havent finished looks like a CB is coming and a winger but with LS, AC, and DK a striker is looking less likely.
Saturdays game could be the best possible time to play the Arse as they look shakey. no Gerv and Fab and possibly nasri off too

Let have faith please. These players need time
Adam will be great
Hendo is still so young
Enrique is good and needs to up his game to be cosidered for spain.
Downing showed us what he can do but needs another winger to relieve some of the burden.
Suarez - world class
Carroll needs to stay in the middle and stop wandering.

Top Four at least

I do not understand why people, including LFC fans have been giving us so much stick after the Sunderland game. We had effectively 6 (this is including Carroll) new players blending into the team, and look at how we played first half, against a strong Sunderland side... It's coming together Reds fans, We are building a really good squad and I expect us back in the champions league at least after this season (at the expense of the Gunners is my prediction).

Ed001 you posted last night that the daily mail didn't have any contacts inside Liverpool so the rumour of meireles going to chelski was rubbish. This may well be the case but Dominic King ex Echo journo is writing for them and I can asure you that he has some excellent contacts at Liverpool. Also on the point of not reading or buying the paper due to that rat Mckenzie I fully agree but Liverpool FC aren't too bothered about this cos the always have Dominic King on their channel also a few of our players give him exclusive interviews eg carragher and gerrard. So something needs to be said about this to Liverpool if it's upsetting fans don't you think--finisher

A lot of negativity to my post last night. That's fine, I was expecting it. As the great man Bob Paisley once said, "If the apples are bruised pick 'em up and polish 'em down."

On to my info. Woke up to a text from my contact and he confirmed emphatically what he told me yesterday, two players coming in from Spain and he thinks Nathan Dyer deal is 80% done.

I just read porto are signing steven defour reasonably cheap I know we. Have been linked with him before he could have been worth a punt he,s go pace to burn good crossing ability and scorees a few I think we should have gone for him obviously defense needs sorting out but he would have been a good option on the wing wonder why we lost interest in him

Ed002, would it be fair to say that there are many fickle "LFC" fans on here? Do all fans slate their players as much as on here or is it just a minority which seems like the majority on this site.

Also is there any news that you could bring to the table my friend? :)

I cannot believe some of the reactions to a one one draw witk sunderland- Calling for Kennys head(yes people really are doing that.) slating carrol and Henderson. Henderson wasnt bought to be amasing now he was bought to be a superb player over the long term. Carrol dominated sunderland and looked really good. Hell be great this season. We have 3 or 4top top players. Reina Gerrard Suarezmaybe downing or Carrol. We have lots of very good players. Lucas Downing Carroll CArra eeeenriqueIf we get Cahill then Cahill, Johnson Kuyt, Meireles Aquaman. Henderson will be a top top player. I spoke to Sunderland fans and they think he will be a future star.

With a number of our players linked with moves away from the club.
ie: Meireles to Chelski, Joe Cole to
Arsenal, Aquilani to AC Milan, Ngog
to Bolton and Poulsen also off, do
we see a few more coming in Eds?
ie: A striker to replace Ngog, A winger
to replace Aqua/Meireles, Cole and
a centre half?
Now THAT would make an excellent

I come on this site several times a day to find out who we are being linked with, what people have heard and for the wit and wisdom of the banter section. I come on first thing this morning hoping to get some clues into who the delegation in Spain are trying to sign or if maybe there has been some progress on Cahill and what have I found? So called Liverpool fans criticising everyone at the club and praising an OPPOSITION player I never thought I would see the day when the so called best fans in the country turned on their own club because a player we never signed, and were never likely to sign has scored two goals. City were able to give Aguero things that Liverpool cannot – champions league football and an obscene salary.
I blame the playstaion generation for some of this – the wish lists some people post regarding who we should sign are unfeasible but because they play well on Fifa 2011 we must sign them and if we don’t Kenny and Cammoli don’t know what they’re doing and the owners aren’t spending enough money. We should have signed Aguero instead of Carroll Does anyone stop to think that maybe Aguero didn’t want to play for a club outside of the Champions league? Carroll handed in a written transfer request at the club he has supported since a kid because he was desperate to play for us, the same for Henderson and Downing. These players are showing more commitment and pride than most of the posters on here.
I suggest all the people who are on here criticising the management and the players of Liverpool FC – and demanding ‘Marquee’ players like Aguero, Mata, Higuan, Messi and Pele go and support City as you will get your wish.

Mate, Aguero is awesome. Might have been against Swansea, but you will soon see Liverpool struggle against the same squad, and KK will say "they played well and deserved a point....". Every team in PL is going to be tough this year. I hate Man City, but they are going to be impossible to beat this year.

Does any one else feel like rubbish after watching aguero play last night? He was bought for 38 million and carroll for 35. Im all for kenny and he has bought some good players such as downing and adam, we all know he is building the team around carroll. But maybe, just maybe if we had bought a benzema or aguero then we would really have a shot at 3rd and 4th.

Yes, the counter argument here would be that we didnt have champions league or the wages but im just saying. A cavani/benzema along with a suarez sounds a lot more exciting.

16 Aug 2011 08:26:43
fellow reds, I would just like to point out that in the Copa, the two best tems in the competition didnt even make it to the final. the reason i am pointing this out is because those two teams had arguably the most expensive players in the tournament too. Man City do have the most expensive squad in the league but that doesnt make them invincible...

While fans are pissin and moaning over the none signing of Aguero that because of his wages alone was never i viable option. Just been reading about one of our former owners by the name of Tom Hicks. He's currently being sued by former investors of the Texas Rangers baseball team. I'm sure you'll come across it somewhere if you wanna find out more but the Gist is, that he made i mean he's has been accused of(just in case his lawers are reading) of making money and building his personal wealth through SUPPOSEDLY doing a few dodgy real estate deals re buying land and leaving them with a baseball team not fit for the purpose and in essesence making the Texas Rangers a bag of rubbish. Just remember the dark days of him and Gillett being our owners before spouting off how the new have only spent a net of this or that after the Torres sale. We've got great, owners, manager, coaching staff and with our captain back fit hopefully sooner rather then later and no doubt a couple of other signing's and we've got a good chance to become a great team. Just get over Kun, he likes coin and prob C.League footy, who doesn't, City were willing and able, we were not. I think the turnaround since the new owners took over along with K.K's appointment and his right hand man Steve Clarke has raised expectiations and rightly so. Lets do our job now and stop moaning of what might have been and look to see where we've come since them to Mugs did one and start supporting the team/players and judge after decent period of time before fans start getting the hump and start supporting our team and getting behind the players re of how much they cost, how tall they are,how fast or whatever critera us fans use,and judge them on their footballing ability and effectiveness and to play as a team as well as being proud to play for Liverpool FC. On a Happier Note.
Tuesday August 16 2011

Former Liverpool FC co-owner Tom Hicks is being sued by a group of former investors in the Texas Rangers, saying he used the major league baseball club to enrich himself at the team's expense while he was the owner.

In a suit filed in state court in Dallas, attorneys for the Rangers partnership under bankruptcy administrator Alan Jacobs say Hicks ignored team obligations and bought land for parking lots and roads to build "a real estate empire on the backs of the Texas Rangers' players and creditors and fans".

The suit alleges the Rangers were left insolvent "without sufficient money to field a competitive baseball team".

A spokeswoman for Hicks' company called the allegations "absolutely untrue".

The Rangers emerged from bankruptcy last year with new ownership, which is not involved in the suit.

Hicks lost control of Liverpool in October last year when the club was sold to New England Sports Ventures.

We cudnt of signed aguero in Jan when we got the torres money because he signed a new contract at athletico so they would get more money for him in he summer. Kenny has said hes under pressure to sign more players which is amazing news considering the state of us last year I suspect we will get one big out of the blue signing but I don't know who.

New additions in 2011:

Carroll: Hate to say it, and yes I am a diehard LFC fan, but I would give my left leg to have Torres back in for this guy. Doesn't seem to know where his feet are, or how to use them.

Suarez: Best, and perhaps only, good addition since Torres.

Adam: Adds something new and at great price. Too bad he can't tackle.

Downing: Seems like a more expensive and less flashy version of Albert Riera

Henderson: I thought this was a joke before it actually happened. After Commolli signed him I became very worried about our transfer strategy.

Enrique: I don't buy that he is one of the best left backs in PL. Better than Evra? Cole? Baines? These are clearly ridiculous statements. Best we've had though since Riise

Whose next: Has to be a CB. If I have to watch another full season with Carra starting every match I will vomit, like I did on opening day. Carra is too slow. He makes one good tackle a game and everyone goes on about his passion. I love the guy, but let him coach or something.

On youth movement: Flannigan, Robinson need several years yet. Kelly is clearly ready and should have started against Sunderland. Raheem Sterling should be on bench NOW. He brings a whole different dimension. Shelvey will never star for Liverpool. He simply isn't a good player.

16 Aug 2011 02:01:27
Anyone who doesn't have Lucas in their preferred line up is an idiot. the lad is world class and one hell of a tackler. he is the backbone of our team and we would concede a lot of goals without him, just look at the first few pre season games.

RE:director of recruitment, Stuart Webber + Asian Kid + Youth Policy

Ed the UK has mixed cultural population. Many asian, indian, muslim kids play in 5-a-toruments across the country or sunday league. Why are none of them making it into the academy, but we are willing to search asia for players.

Its very obvious with clubs like West ham, a very large black and muslim community live on the door steps of the club, yet none of local communities kids make it into the west ham academy.

Is racism being apply at academy level. Plus i know that many "white english footballer" are average at best, but make it into the acaemy system.

census 2009 Ethinic Breakdown of UK

White: British 82.8%
White: Irish 558,100 1.1%
White: Other 1,861,800 3.6%
Asian or Asian British: Indian 1,414,100 2.7%
Asian or Asian British: Pakistani 990,700 1.9%
Asian or Asian British: Bangladeshi 384,300 0.7%
Asian or Asian British: South Asian 377,700 0.7%
Black or Black British: Caribbean 609,400 1.2%
Black or Black British: African 787,500 1.5%
Black or Black British: Other 124,500 0.2%
Mixed 956,700 1.9%
Chinese or Other: Chinese 439,500 0.8%
Chinese or Other: Other 412,100 0.8%

Whats going wrong?

White: British 82.8%
Indian: Asian 6%
Black:Mixed 4.8 %
White: Other 3.6%
Chinese: other 1.6%
White: Irish 1.1%

I would expect more Indian asians playing in premiership or english football. {Ed001's Note - what a load of crap. Utter and complete nonsense. It is nothing to do with racism, every single club in this country would love to get Chinese/Indian/Pakistani players in their academy. The boost it would give a club, in terms of support and merchandising, would be huge. The simple fact is that none have been good enough. All this petty PC crap about blaming it on racism is just lunacy made up by idiots trying to jump on a bandwagon. Right now it is just not as fashionable a sport as cricket amongst Indians, Bangladeshis and Pakistanis, the sporty kids are playing that instead of footie.}

Ed, do you think there is any chance Sunderland might take back Henderson? I am no expert at spotting talent like Commolli, so perhaps someone can explain to me why we signed him (not to mention the fee). I have been watching him since he started with Sunderland, and he is a proven hard worker with some pace. That's it. At the U21's he looked scared and lost. He looked the same on opening day. The comparisons with Gerrard are (in the words of Harry Redknapp) "downright farcical" {Ed001's Note - if 'Arry Redknapp says it then it must be true. If you have to quote him as your authority on football then you really need to get out more. No one has compared Henderson with Gerrard, no idea why you have dragged that up. Bad enough you tried to suggest there is a problem because the world's most useless (and possibly the least intelligent) coach, Stuart Pearce, couldn't figure out how to get a good performance from him. Every player looks like a donkey under Pearce, except for those that completely disregard him and play their own game. We have signed him because he is a quality young player with a lot of potential, simple really.}

Ed where are we going to get Speed from upfront. What do you think will happen {Ed001's Note - Carroll is quick in short bursts, Suarez is just quick and Downing is quick, I would say that would be where it would come from.}

I think we are going to have a go at Arsenal this weekend. A win at Emirates, and everybody's opinion will change. I think the squad looked strong in first half vs. Sunderland, but ran out of steam rather fast. The one worry I have is not Carroll, but Henderson. I fear KK will feel obligated to play him (he cost basically what Torres cost us a few years back..) and in truth, he is a solid back up at best. Lots of pace, but no invention, average tackler and poor decision making. I pray he does not start on saturday (ditto for Flanno).

Aguero is another level.

Serigo Aguero is better than tevez . Thats put him in the top 7 strikers in the world.

Andy Carrol would never be in that list of players, but Torres is. So you can see what the problem is.

We should of asked for Serigo Aguero in exchange for Torres come Janurary. We may of gotten a Sergio

You never know, i think Torres was implus buy, that owner wanted.

Raul Meriless Contact Dispute.

Liverpool may be planning on selling Raul Meireles as he is in Contractual dispute with the club. This makes him surplus to requirements at Anfield.

Plus he needed to be sold in order to fund the transfers of new signings such as G-Cahill.

Raul was after all voted PFA Fans' Player of the Year after his impressive debut season for Liverpool

His problem, he was promised a better contract if he performed well for liverpool. Now he believes the club has dis-hououred his gentlemens agreement.

we saw the best of Raul as he banged in goals for fun in consecutive matches

If we are looking at the issue of selling Meireles to raise transfer funds then it could make sense as Meireles is more marketable and easier to sell than Aquilani

That is based on the assumption that FSG had included the sale of Aquilani as part of their summer spending budget, now can't give him away.

I beleive Money motivate Raul Meriless to play above hid usal levels. Paying him extra would only allow him to become a sick note or worst Joe Cole.

I don't understand why the club would not consider giving the player performance incentive pay. Performance of 8 out 10 triggers a payment. Goals, Assists, Clean sheets. Pass Ratios.

If he wants extra money, then let his stats earn him money. Im sure he will perform given the chance.

I also understand that Raul signed a contract with Roy Hodgson when the club was looking to be sold and the wage structure had to be under a certin level to make the club look profitable.

In football their is no such think as profitable. It all goes into the players pockets at the end of the day, but then Raul must of own that the situation at the club would change in October including a new board, new manager and even new coaching Staff.

So how could he sign a contract with someone that he knew wouldn't be at the club come janurary. I would had a automatic wage increase written into the contract if i met performance targets set out in the contract. eg 10 goals in the season ect.

Liverpool FC have sent a scouting team out to China as they look to sign up the best young talent the Asian market has to offer.

The Academy’s director of recruitment, Stuart Webber will embark upon a six-day trip to the Far East where he will run the rule over two new trialists at an U17 tournament, as well as developing links with the Chinese FA.

Speaking to the clubs official website, Webber said “It’s a fantastic opportunity both for myself and the club. The trip has come about on the back of the first team being out in that part of the world during the pre-season.

“We felt there was a need to go and have a look at a few players. There’s a tournament out there and we will also want to spend some time with the Chinese FA.

“We’ll basically continue to build the links between Liverpool and what is potentially a fantastic market for us.

“It would be great if we could bring through a player from that part of the world one day. We have millions of supporters over there and it’s important we scout there as well as across the rest of the world.

“We are confident we will find a player somewhere like this one day and it is important we step up our efforts now.

Nice to see our own fans slating Carroll because Aguero has had ONE good game against Swansea of all teams.
It's almost as if people forget that he scored 11 goals in the first half of last season at a mediocre Newcastle side.

Signing Aguero was never a realistic target for Liverpool. QPR had more chance of signing him than us.

alot of talk about aguero and carroll and yea aguero did have a gd debut but is was against swansea who arent exactly a force in the prem. we have to wait over the season to see who is better and my money is on carroll. he is a gd enough player to do what aguero did when given the space. unlike aguero he can also be physical and against teams like blackburn stoke and wolves which will be vital. i would love to have aguero if it was a possibility but a choice of one my preference is carroll.

Aguero should be scoring hat tricks in every match. I mean he is on £200,000 a week It's just obscene. Football has gone crazy. Citeh are welcome to him.

How many of the Aguero worshippers have actually watched Spanish football/Atletico Madrid's games on a regular basis, I suspect hardly any.

You're just judging him on a decent (one goal my Nan could have scored and another good goal. Maxi's at Fulham was 10x better) half an hour debut against 'the mighty' Swansea City.

Agueros wages are three and a half times that of carrol
and if we did sign him gerards contract stipulates no one can earn more than him so we would have to match at the very least then suarez would want more then pepe and so on that is why we don't want him,by the way ed001's info about gerrards contract so i would believe.

For all fans praising Aguero and slacking off carroll you should stop it immediately, because LFC was never a milking cow for money and never will be we are a proper football club with history and a future built on the right principles. We do not want or need players who don't even know where england is and just come for the money. Look at Tevez what a disgrace Yes aguero is good but they man city are looking at the top teams in the prem trying to immitate us and the other top teams.
So grow up and think we have players that have respected Lfc and have come here because of us and Anfield, we must respect them and support them.

Just a observation, and please correct me if im wrong??
We recieved 56m in jan for torres and babel. We also recieved another 20m installment from standard charterd totalling 76m.
Our outlay on players so far is, suarez 22m, carroll 35m, henderson 16m, adam 7m, downing 20m, and enrique 5.5m, totalling 105.5 so 29.5 has been spent from the club, with the annual sky t.v money and last seasons
League position money and the money generated from the aisa tour do you think as a club we have actually spent money or not? (please post in rumours as response is welcome)
