Just back from the FA YOUTH CUP game at langtree park, got to say was that JORDAN ROSSITER MK2 had a great game, well done LIAM COYLE, also TAA had a decent game at right-back.

17 Dec 2015 04:28:27
Liam Coyle looks loke a great little player one of the young lads came into the U18s this year, doesn't mind a tackle either.

16 Dec 2015 16:09:24
If any of the EDD'S are around what's the latest on the FLAGS and BANNERS dispute, were are we up to, is there any light at the end of the tunnel.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I was told it was an FA or UEFA directive so nothing has happened due to the club being powerless to change things. Though they were heavyhanded in their application of the rules.}

16 Dec 2015 20:02:47
It's an absolute joke. Was there a reason behind it?
Has somebody died waving a flag ed?

{Ed001's Note - I can't remember the reasoning now to be honest.}

16 Dec 2015 21:04:39
There are still flags on the Kop. There's always a Belgium flag, I think it's Mig's mum. 😃.

16 Dec 2015 16:37:16
With Clyne and Moreno first choice and flanno nearly back and despite only one game smith covering the full backs, and next season Gomez being able to cover any defensive position, do you see wisdom having a future at Liverpool?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

16 Dec 2015 16:47:58
Klopp hasn't had a chance to look at Wisdom, and like most loan player, will have a look at the in the summer I think. I think Wisdom will leave though.

16 Dec 2015 17:06:23
If klopp deems him good enough probably. I didn't think Gomez played well at left back but he was new to the position, I didn't see anything thought that made me think he could easily cover there and play well. Hopefully Klopp is good enough to simply play he best players, not some of BR's expensive flops.

16 Dec 2015 17:13:48
Clyne is here for the next couple of years i believe at least as first choice RB. Flanno will push him close for that spot while Randall is also in the frame. Will be extremely difficult for Wisdom to get a look in. Also Klopp like his fullbacks to provide natural width which is not exactly Wisdom's domain so i think the club will move him on.

16 Dec 2015 17:38:20
I agree Indian buzzer, the lack of natural width may be a problem but he is comfortable in possession, and is defensively as capable as the rest of our full backs. I know Gomez isn't a full back but he is more than capable of filling in that position of needed.

16 Dec 2015 20:57:21
I'd expect toure to leave in the summer and wisdom being looked at for cb cover clyne flannagan randell skrtil lovren sakho ilori wisdom gomez moreno smith looks decent to me.

17 Dec 2015 01:15:08
You've just named 12 players for 4 positions. I know two are youth but still 10. I think ilori will leave, and one of skrtel or lovren as well as toure. I can argue cases for both, I think skrtel will be better as a third choice as he's more experienced and would be okay to play less regularly, I feel lovren needs more games to get up to speed, and lovren is a little weak for me as a centre half.

16 Dec 2015 14:45:22
Any news on how long Lovern will be out?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Club says two weeks.}

16 Dec 2015 15:18:40
What about Shirley?

16 Dec 2015 21:06:11
World class Clarky 😃.

Clarky's post manage to fish out 7 uncles (inc Ron) from a past era.

16 Dec 2015 11:24:00
so come on the people what do you think it would take to get Liverpool back up there!?

Top Manager - Done

We need to give Klopp the money Rodgers had made available for him and see what he can do with it. But i don't want this buy young policy in place anymore mix and match it experience is needed as well.

Anymore thoughts.

Believable6 Unbelievable6

16 Dec 2015 14:06:41
Patience is required.
I don't want Klopp to spend frivolously. He didn't at Dortmund so I don't want him to here.
I want him to develop our young players and bring them through.
This season I would be delighted with Champions league qualification or winning the Europa league. I won't be devastated if neither happens, we need to get away from the bipolar reactions and start working towards a long term improvement.

16 Dec 2015 14:12:20
Klopp needs to buy in his own players.

The squad we have is well over size so the main thing is trim the squad then add some real quality into the starting 11.

We need a similar striker to Sturridge because with benteke we never get in behind the defence.

I know we have plenty of strikers but let's be honest Sturridge is always injured, benteke isn't upto the job and we ain't going to win the league with origi.

16 Dec 2015 14:14:18
couldnt agree more i think people expect instant success now that Klopp is here and with the experience he has with winning leagues and cups. let's hope in time that he can bring that success from Dortmund to Liverpool. Europa league is very interesting this year with the team dropping out of the champs league also very good teams except united. i expect us to get to the final of the capital one and let's hope its city so we can beat them 4-1 again lol i want klopp to develop our youth but we do need experience in there as well so mix and match it. Only time will tell what Klopp can do let's just hope we are on the up!

People who jumping on his back saying we were celebrating a point is ridiculous he was thanking the fans for the support and the atmosphere created by the fans at Anfield that day going forward we need to make the atmosphere week in week out dosen't matter if were winning, losing or drawing we need to make Anfield a fortress again.

16 Dec 2015 14:26:19
I believe that we can probably get there in 2-3yrs just with Klopp and the patience to see squad develop/youth mature, but in order of preference this is what I'd want

1) Sturridge to remain fit

2) Bring in a top class keeper (just close your eyes and picture us with De Gea, Courtois or Cech. )

3) Bring in a top winger with bags of pace who can cross the ball and score goals - would give a completely different set of options to Milner or Llalana out wide. Think if we had Sanchez! Ibe or Markovic might get there in a couple of years but not yet.

4) I'd love to see a defensive midfielder that can direct play like Alonso used to do, we ultimately need someone to succeed Lucas and I'd like it to be a midfield general (or else we can just be patient with Can)

16 Dec 2015 14:41:21
Klopp has a great eye for talent and will be able to bring in players who will fit his system like a glove as well as develop our youth in-house instead sending them out on pointless loans. As for this season, just take it one game at a time. I will say that a Capital One Cup will help us push on for the rest of the season should we win it because our squad have NO experience at winning things yet. I don`t believe in forfeiting one competition for the other because LFC is a big club and I expect us to compete on every front. Our squad is severely bloated and most terribly, unbalanced due to the rank incompetence of the former regime. That needs to be addressed in the summer. All we need is 2/3 top players in the first team at areas of great need (GK, out wide and a capable CB to partner Sahko) and we`ll be okay.

16 Dec 2015 16:40:06
Just time now. Klopp will build a proper team like he did with Dortmund.

16 Dec 2015 16:50:33
Time. Klopp is giving the current squad every chance to stake a claim and stay at LFC beyond the summer, while slowly introducing his principles. Remeber he has already said multiple times now that he believes in this squad and that now is not the time for big changes to the personnel or the style of play.

16 Dec 2015 12:43:55
Isn't just me that would rather play Chelsea and city away again rather than Leicester and Watford? 2 teams with forwards that can definitely hurt us. Both very in form Leicester more so, but I do wonder what they'll be like if we press them well at the back.

Believable14 Unbelievable0

16 Dec 2015 12:59:04
I've got a cunning plan.

Stop Ighalo, Deeney, Mahrez and Vardy. Get the ball to Can. Send him on a powerful run, dink it in behind for Lallana. Goal. Score more goals than them and we win.

What you guys reckon? I also write poetry? Boom, Boom, Boom.

16 Dec 2015 13:43:55
Ah, 'The German Guns' a true classic. Supposedly you stop teams who rely on certain players by starving those players of possession so theoretically the high press is the best tactic against these teams. Easier said than done though.

16 Dec 2015 14:09:23
Good someone got the reference Muscatred ;)

16 Dec 2015 14:14:17
Good one Baldrick. I've got a good feeling about both games, we could counter attack Watford and I believe Leicester will try to win the game and not sit deep and try to break legs which should leave spaces to exploit.

16 Dec 2015 14:45:10
Watford and Leicester won`t change the way they play ever so we have to come out and press them high like at City and Chelsea and let our forwards like Firmino, Origi (they should both start IMO) and Coutinho pick them off, that way, they can`t get the ball up to their fron men, just like we stifled City and Chelsea. However, I am fearful of our CB partnership because it will be Toure-Skrtel vs both team potentially and I don`t know how that will play out.

16 Dec 2015 17:50:05
I hope you use milk at home and not baldricks milk substitute lol.

16 Dec 2015 20:37:13
Ems and muscat thanks for introducing Blackadder to me. I searched and watched the last season, it was brilliant.

16 Dec 2015 23:11:39
How have you not heard of it?! What did you search, 'baldrick' haha.

16 Dec 2015 23:11:41
I'm sorry EMS but 'boom boom boom' was penned by baldrick in black adder. Please don't try and plagiarise a work of art.

For those of you not familiar with this masterpiece from the trenches of ww1 please check it out on you tube .

17 Dec 2015 07:34:47
@Fencey : yup I searched Baldrick German guns. that was enough for Google. once I saw who all were in it, knew I had to watch it :)

17 Dec 2015 09:11:42
You're welcome pankaj. It's honestly the greatest comedy sketch of all time. Rowan Atkinson is just hilarious in it.

17 Dec 2015 09:13:54
And no but I have used his sugar substitute ;)

17 Dec 2015 13:09:45
Ooh I don't know, the Monty Python boys had some classics EMS!

17 Dec 2015 15:46:49
What about The Two Ronnies and the Fork Handles sketch.

16 Dec 2015 11:17:46
Never thought the day would come that all of us would be worried if Lovren missed a football game for the club.
Shows how much things have changed since Brendan left, and Klopp took over. Credit to Klopp for improving and unlocking Lovren's potential and making the best use of him. And credit as well to Lovren for not giving up and continuing to fight in spite of negative fan reaction he got under Brendan. Well done Dejan!

Believable25 Unbelievable2

16 Dec 2015 13:48:21
Amazing what confidence can do for a man.

16 Dec 2015 15:03:09
Lovren was never that bad a player. He just needed some coaching and confidence which you will never get brom Brendan "it`s never my fault" Rodgers.

{Ed002's Note - He is a Liverpool player and like all Liverpool players, the fans want him out.}

16 Dec 2015 18:13:37
He's been okay then again once Sakho is back he will replace him as he is a far superior player.

16 Dec 2015 10:08:30
Liverpool played 16 games and are at 24 points, exactly half.

Almost all the games which we have lost are due to our squad playing in a disjointed manner. Very rarely have we lost a game where the team played to its potential.

I firmly believe the squad is not as bad as some here may believe. However, in their defense the team as to show what they are worth before everyone else really starts to believe it.

I think its high time that everyone steps up their performances. I know that Epl is very competitive and no opponent can be written off but that should not make listless games like Newcastle okay.

So give me wins, losses or draws but first give me passionate performances.

Enough of swinging between high confidence and jittery low confidence. Bring out the anger and the drive, stop being the perpetual underdog!

P. S: Every game we play, I believe that we can win but there is that nagging voice in the back of my head which says that when Liverpool play nobody knows what you are going to get. You may get a proper thrashing or a cakewalk 3 points.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

16 Dec 2015 10:53:35
Is 19 games not the halfway point in the league?

16 Dec 2015 11:05:54
He means half as in half the points we've taken from a possible 48.

16 Dec 2015 15:07:56
Spot on, pank! We are where we deserve to be and the fact that we have a real shot at top four after the dreadful issues we`ve had at the start is a blessing under Klopp who didn`t even have a preseason with the team. By half way point in three games, we should be able to gauge where we are and what we can aim for. Our squad although unbalanced, has always been good enuff so not too worried about that. We just need to find the right mix in midfield and up top and we`ll be fine. Like you, i believe we can now win every game we play BUT we have to get the selection and systems right before getting great perfs because when we have gotten those right, we have won games. GO REDS!

16 Dec 2015 09:58:01
One point about our set pieces. As I said many times before, I wouldn't mind us occasionaly conceding from set pieces had we ever scored from ours. Since we do have a lot of possesion we do have a lot of corners and free kicks but do absoloutly nothing with them.

There is a thing I have noticed with WBA, Leicester and other 'small teams': every time they get a free kick anywhere on the pitch, everyone are going near the box and they try to get them with a long ball, even if it is from their own half (then it will be a long ball from the keeper) . With us if its not really really close to the box we always take it short on the ground as if we trust so much the quaelity of our passes that we are more likly to creat chances this way (and of course immidiatley lose the ball) than trying to find Benteke who can either try to shoot or pass the ball (by the way no one mentioned the great assist he gave to Lallana - still don't understand how did he miss that one) .

Now I am not saying we should move to play direct football generally. But if it is a free kick in the opposition half why not having some bodies in the box?

And why are we so rubbish in conrners and free kicks anyway? for me this is what we should practice on rather than how to not concede them. And please please even if you feel Milner should be on the pitch for soem reason, don't let him take them.

16 Dec 2015 10:34:34
Hear Hear!

But let's get some perspective on the matter. LFC were a sinking ship under the helm of Rodgers - Then we decided to go for Klopp. Klopp has had no preparation for this job, he has had to get the team believing again and correct some of the flaws that BR has inflicted on LFC.
He has had an positive impact on most of the players (Lovren, Skrtel, Lucas, Lallana etc. ) - I´m quite baffled how Lovren has gone from one of the worst players to get the nomination of player of the month.

The point here is that Klopp has had plenty of things to work with, and I won´t blame him for not having corrected all of the flaws just yet (and trust me there have been plenty) . I´m sure we would have been much better by now if Klopp had joined us in the summer and had some influence on the transfers.

16 Dec 2015 11:02:21
I agree RedFuzz and I have a lot of patience with Klopp (and would have been thrilled to see him coming last summer as myslef and many people here were begging the owners to do) . I am sure he will improve players and the team, including, I hope set pieces. I am still curius what he will do with some players and Milner esepcailly - I wonder when and if he will bench him or - which if anyone can it is Klopp - do some magic and make him more effective (hard to believe in his age but you never know with Klopp) .

16 Dec 2015 11:40:20
You can´t question Milners enthuisame or workrate, but pretty much everything else in terms of footballing abillities could be questioned.

I´ve also asked myself, why do Klopp persist with Milner? Is it something in his contract, that says he should play if fit?
I would much rather have Ibe, Firmino, Teixeira or Lallana play instead of Milner.

The thing is, that we can´t really judge Klopp before he has had a season and gotten used to the EPL, and has had the time to figure out who will make it, and replace those who won´t make it.

16 Dec 2015 13:06:58
What are you expecting of Milner? ok, i get it, he takes a massive salary, but he is a decent player. he does everything pretty well, if not exceptionally. i'm not a massive fan of his, and in the summer believed we were getting a decent player, which he is, in my opinion, but every manager he has played under sees something in him.

fro me he is not a game changer, but he defiantly is a good player and deserves a place in our squad. with Gerrard gone, we do start to look a bit young and he does add experience. he is the only player in our squad to of won the league! I agree he maybe should sit a few more games out, but this constant bashing and calling him garbe is beyond boring.

16 Dec 2015 14:01:40
Toure and Sturridge also have league winners medals.

Sakho has a Ligue 1 winners medal as well. Not the Prem, but a major league medal none the less.

We are lacking winning mentality though.

16 Dec 2015 15:31:08
Klopp is rely trying to fix our issues and has come a long way since BR got sacked. However, I believe with a preseason with this team and a couple of top players coming in to bolster the first eleven along with the much needed trimming down if the squad, we will be fin BUT there is still lots to play for so we should keep playing and keep fighting. As for Milner, Many of us said it in the summer that his arrival would be a disaster and frankly bar his work rate and "experince" at being a backup, we are now seeing this. Klopp is still evaluating him, per Ed01 but frankly, he is who he is and we are playing one man short with him in the team. Watch the Newcastle game and you will see for yourselves. We can no longer able to carry passengers anymore hence, the Milner issue needs to be addressed at some point. I would prefer a Lucas, Can/Hendo midfield with pace, power and solidity but of course, that`s just my opinion. Hopefully, Klopp will do what is right for the team and bench him.

16 Dec 2015 10:18:55
There is no specialist free kick takers with us since Gerrard and Suarez. We have not scored a single goal from dead ball in nearly two years. Scoring from dead ball is sheer skill you need to master the art. there are few who are blessed with such talent. very few develops it.

We do have a lot of corners with majority not crossing the first defender let alone our men inside.

I hope we practice in crossing the ball ( by crossing means some good precise crossing into the box )

16 Dec 2015 09:51:20
Unfortunately we are back to that term progress! And before u think this is a moan it's not! I truly believe we have pulled off a master stroke in securing klopp as our manager. He does not build teams. he builds football clubs. dare I say it a lot like a Mr ferguson. His commitment to try n piece together the once mighty anfield crowd is a significant step. I fully expect given time that Jurgen will not only have assembled a successful team but the club will be at a level that will stand for a foreseeable future. Ynwa.

With you there. he is the one I always wanted and the fact that he came and is committed to buliding us from the bottom up, is just awesome. Did I say that he was awesome?

16 Dec 2015 09:25:55
I think its really refreshing reading stuff like this well done to sakho considering he was treated so poorly by br is good to see him doing so much for the community and charity top man him and lucas seem to be top professionals!

Believable4 Unbelievable0

16 Dec 2015 11:21:23
Sakho and Lucas are model professionals and human beings. Two people who have not become influenced by the money thrown at footballers these days. LFC especially needs these players to keep its soul intact while we rebuild under Klopp. Both are natural leaders and give the club a good name, and not just on the pitch.
Still cannot figure out how Milner got the VC before Lucas and Sakho.

16 Dec 2015 11:46:28
Can I also say, James Milner, as poor as he has been, does a hell of a lot for charity and should be commended for it.

16 Dec 2015 05:06:30
For anyone who has not yet read Sakho's interview with the Echo, you really should. Then you can see why he is so beloved: http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-fcs-mamadou-sakho-now-10604498

What a top bloke. It warms my heart to read articles like this. I get so much joy out of learning about players being so humble and giving back to the community like Sakho is. Such a refreshing article to read Ed - thanks for that mate.

{Ed001's Note - it is knowing this things that make Sakho a clear future choice as captain. If you can't respect a guy with his attitude, then you do not deserve to be at the club.}

16 Dec 2015 07:34:09
Here Here Ed!

16 Dec 2015 07:39:52
He's a great fella ed and very under rated. Only thing for me is he's not great injury wise . Has a few spells.

{Ed001's Note - modern day footballers do, wrong type of training allied to harder pitches, they are always going to suffer injuries.}

16 Dec 2015 11:07:31
Met sakho twice and twice I have been shocked how rude and up his own backside he is.
Saw him tell a kid to "go away" after he asked for an autograph. Lol
Might have caught him on 2 bad days though or maybe he's not a great flyer.

16 Dec 2015 05:04:52
Good news that Lovren will only miss a month, there were fears of ligament damage would would have been 3-6 months out.

Believable8 Unbelievable0

16 Dec 2015 05:58:34
And with Sakho returning, we are spoilt for choice - not something we have been saying in recent years about our left CB position. Great news.

16 Dec 2015 01:13:42
A few thoughts from WB

1) I thought we almost had the conundrum cracked for much of the game, lots more movement, pinging the ball from side to side to create width, late run into the box from Hendo to score, lots of variety in attack etc. 2 against West Bromwich is a good start IMO and I think Klopp is going to eventually solve how to break down teams who play the defensive wall

2) What we haven't solved for is set pieces. why do I close my eyes every time we concede a corner or even a free kick in our half of the pitch? Sorry Klopp but we need a new keeper and some intensive training on this or were always going to have a soft underbelly. If we scored as many from set pieces as we conceded.

3) I LOVED the Klopp salute. Ok it may have felt a bit awkward like a boy asking a girl out on a first date, but you have to make that first step if you eventually plan to go all the way ;-) . At least he had the balls to reach out to make a connection and I believe only the most cynical will fail to respond if he keeps this up. For the first time now I can see how Annfield can become an intimidating fortress again. Stuff the snide remarks from some of the other clubs fans, they'd all kill to have Klopp

Come on lads, take the guts you showed on the weekend and ram it down Watford's throat.

16 Dec 2015 04:15:24
i think for point no. 2 we have improved under klopp defending set pieces and i think it was a good header by olsson. that mignolet goal was actually what cost us. that shouldn't have been a goal, and almost had us lost the game but for origi. after that goal going in 1-1 at halftime ( almost 2-1 well spotted by linesman) everyone knew how a pulis team would come out in second half . they came tackling hard stretching legs on every tackle and then it became a fight rather than football, and second goal became a sucker punch. but anyways i am glad we showed character (hehe) and took it all on :) we went out and gave it back at WB . few hopeless tackles and a two footed lunge, just loved every bit of it, and then in the last minutes crowd went berserk and players saluted, wow just wow. a lot was made of it after the game but man whatever it gave me goosebumps while watching live, it was a moment. and that's what it is all about. i love this liverpool football club, YNWA. no other stadium in england could match that! i hope this is what the atmosphere is from minute 1 at the next game at anfield.

16 Dec 2015 05:11:38
I'm with you AK, stuff the result and judging if the opposition are worth celebrating a win or not, this is about celebrating the guts, effort, skills, the crowd and above all supporting LFC EVERY SINGLE GAME. We need more moments like that and not just save ourselves for the 'big' matches.

Since when did we become so precious as to only want to acknowledge the effort and crowd support on selective games? Did all the hard work put in mean less because it was against West Brom? Not in my book. in fact it meant more because they were trying to break our legs.

{Ed001's Note - not just that, but it was following a call from Klopp for the crowd to give more. It was only right that when the crowd responded and gave more that he went out there and acknowledged and thanked the fans. That is what you call inspirational leadership, when you reward the right things.}

16 Dec 2015 05:34:43
Good posts lads, totally agree with you both.
Klopp knows what YNWA means.

16 Dec 2015 05:43:46
totally agree inspirational leadership. It made me feel win loss or draw as a Liverpool fan ill support every player in our squad instead of running some of the players down just support them and that support will help the club succeed.

16 Dec 2015 05:45:07
Very good point.

16 Dec 2015 09:52:50
Uck Yeah boys We are Liverpool. I'd run through a wall for this manager. Can't wait to get to a game now that's how it used to be every week. Been a long time coming. Bring em all on.
