Ed, I remember when we had Sissoko, Mascherano, Alonso and Gerrard in midfield and all scousers were singing 'we've got the best midfield in the world'.

Is there any chance we could re-sign Sissoko?

I thought he (at one stage) had the potential to be the new Viera!

Your input would be greatly appreciated.

Aaron - London Red (through good times and bad)

=====================================

Momo has had injuries this year at Juventus, but looks to be on the move this summer. He was thought to be part of an offer to Lyon for Michel Bastos, and Jose Mourinho is said to be interested in taking him to Madrid.

It was a real shame he got the eye injury as he could have really been something (if he improved his passing), will always have good memories of him considering he rejected Everton to join us

Liverpool have moved closer to signing Sylvain Marveaux on a free transfer after the French midfielder underwent a medical on Merseyside.
The 25-year-old is out of contract following five seasons in the Rennes first team and has been linked with a move to Anfield since January.
Talks took place between Liverpool officials and Marveaux's representatives when Roy Hodgson was manager, although the club's director of football Damien Comolli has overseen the transfer and interest has not waned since Kenny Dalglish took charge.
Marveaux made only 10 appearances for Rennes last season due to a serious groin injury but, providing he passes the medical, the left-sided midfielder is likely to become Liverpool's second capture of the summer following the arrival of Jordan Henderson from Sunderland.

LOve the new third choice kit...its better than the new away kit..what you think Ed? {Ed001's Note - I am not sure, I don't like the colour blue myself, I do like the away kit though.}

16 Jun 2011 23:14:21
why are liverpool goin after antonio cassano, downing and players of that age when NESV point was perfectly clear when they said "they want to invest in young talent"?

16 Jun 2011 23:14:05
Hi edds

If Blackpool keep playing ball with us why doesn't Charlie Adam buy out his contract if really wants to join lfc? {Ed001's Note - because he can't.}

16 Jun 2011 23:13:44
I think Raul Meireles is the new Terry Mcdermott .

16 Jun 2011 23:12:31
Roy....

Please explain how making a bid for Clichy would put pressure on Newcastle to sell Enrique?

The player has stated he would like a bigger club.

In my view there are at least 12 teams lager than Liverpool at this present time that can offer him more than we can.

The future is uncertain but presently we only finished a few places above Newcastle

16 Jun 2011 23:11:25
Sky Sports News quoted Eto'o
"I would like to prove my self in the premier league however no interest has been shown yet" could this mean a possible move to LFC? and if so could meireles be used in a player + cash deal
if the adam deal goes through.

Sam

16 Jun 2011 23:08:01
Hi ED's just wondering if you rate charlie adam ahead of meireles and do you think adam signing would push meireles out of LFC

Thanks SamRob {Ed001's Note - I would just say they were different types of players, Adam is more suited to the English game in my opinion. I do think he is likely to end up being a replacement for him though.}

16 Jun 2011 23:05:45
Hi don't remember Sissoko and Mascherano playing in the same Liverpool side..
No thanks to getting Sissoko back he was a worse passer than Masch and thats saying something.

16 Jun 2011 23:05:03
Reading through these pages i feel confident we'll do well with the 75 signings we're going to make over the next month or so.

It's a shame Dortmund, Real Madrid and Lille appear to be selling their entire squads but needs must.

If we only sign two more players then i'd take Mata and Hummels please.

Heard we r going 2 move 4 Matthew upson on a free as a back up cb any truth ed's? I think it would be a good shrud move by king kenny! YNWA {Ed009's Note - I think there is more chance of me playing for Liverpool next season. He's past it, whereas I suppose I'm just nearing my prime. He's simply not good enough, and there is no interest.}

Mite aswell get Woodgate an Sol Campbell too then ED haha

Some people still moaning about our transfers/potentional transfers? Why don't you just sit back and enjoy it. FFS we are only 3 weeks into the British transfer window, The international window hasn't even opened yet. Considering this time last year, when we were staring into the abyss. Remember if FSG, Kenny and DC get the players they are after, this will be the most money we've ever spent, during the summer. Sometimes doing the best you can do, is just not good enough for some people.

The new kit is disgraceful IMO, it seems to be a big F*CK YOU on behalf of Adidas, if the Warrior story is true. I've had every LFC shirt since i was born (mum made sure) but i'm not buying this one. I know it was our very 1st kit but blue has not been associated, with us for years. Adidas need to re-think this one, or i fear they won't sell many.

Some people slagging Kenny Dalglish off? I know you have your own opinion and have the right to voice your opinion. I also have my own opinion and have the right to voice that opinion. And my opinion is, you should be ashamed of yourself. Remember this is Kenny Dalglish you're talking about, the greatest person ever to walk the corridors of Anfield.

Blair Mayne YNWA

Ps. Sorry for the long post/rant.

I stoped idolising and hero worshiping footballers whenTorres left us. For me they are just footballers or managers and describing KD as kING KENNY is no different. If you want to denegrate my support just because I wont bow to KD and hail him as royalty then so be it. I will continue to post news that I believe to be true...I also have it on good authourity Adam wont sign for LFC and Arda Turan is Chelsea bound

absolutely ridiculous Turan isnt even a chelsea target (pastore is). Adam isnt a certainty but seems the most likely player to sign i the next week based on numerous reports.... your not a Liverpool fan your either a bitter blue or a manc - keep posting your nonsense you crack me up.

friend who works for tv station in dubai and before time for liverpool reckons we are still seriously persuing Hazard and will bid up to 30 million to secure his services. i understand chances are very slim but this is just what i heard - personally i don't see it happeneing as his stance about where he wants to move has been pretty clear from the get go... but never say never, football is a strange game.

Do I really have to advocate for myself again? Gus Hiddink is/was the Turkish National coach he is going to Chelsea he has earmarked the golden boy of turkish football turan for chelsea...doesnt that seem plausible? As you say football is a strange game. Also how would your mate who works in Dubai have knowledge of Hazard being linked to LFC when you have ITK's on this site as well as others dont even have a clue about it? I suggest young man your making things up for a little bit odf noteriety

Hi Ed , is it true about this other Lucas we are meant to be talks with is a player formerly known as "marcelinho " . He used the name early in his career as a nick name but reverted back to his Christian name . I also heard we have 1st option on from hence the talks with commoli . Thanks

Ngs77 {Ed001's Note - I don't know, I will have to get some research done on him, we have been connected with so many players I can't keep up this window.}

16 Jun 2011 22:57:18
Good point Ed (Sissoko), your memory and attention to detail knows no bounds, I bow down to you.

I would, on behalf of all TRUE REDS (Liverbird reds, not scum) like to thank all the Ed's for all there effort.

I have only recently discovered this site and within 20 seconds was more addicted to this than any other site.... Porn included.

Thanks Guys

{Ed009's Note - I doubt Lucas - or any other of the multiple Lucas' around right now - will play for Liverpool next season. He is an incredibly talented player though from what I've heard.}

OMG!!! So we're selling Lucas Leiva :'(

Lol I'm jkn Ed ;) but I assume our Player of the year and a player who just signed a new contract will be playing next year. I know what you meant, but you have got to be more specific, or somebody will think you are telling us cryptically or in riddles that he will be sold.
Technically, you're wrong, muhahaha! I'm such a b*tch

YNWA! (Adam) {Ed009's Note - don't worry mate someone has already pulled me up on it. School boy errors eh haha}

16 Jun 2011 22:52:31
why is meireles leaving? how has it come about?

Adrian Mole {Ed009's Note - he is seen as unsuitable for the league's physicality, his shirking of tackles can be dangerous.}

16 Jun 2011 22:51:02
Ed is this true about cassano because i wouldn't mind, i have always liked him, however it depends on the price...he wouldn't cost too much would he? How much do you thing he would be Ed? {Ed009's Note - I don't think its very likely and his price would be over 20 million to say the least, unless Milan desperately want to get rid, in which case you have to ask: why?}

16 Jun 2011 22:48:40
Been told by a reliable source that Karl Oyston is adamant that he doesn't want to sell Charlie Adam to us. He has contacted various other clubs (Spurs, Villa and Newcastle amongst others) offering Adam to them.

Oyston wants a large fee, however is willing to accept slightly less from other clubs. The reason for this is due to the him blaming Liverpool for unsettling Adam in January and in turn Blackpool being relegated.

He will continue with this tact until Sunday, if by then he hasn't received a bid from any other club he will reluctantly let Adam go.

Roy {Ed003's Note - Karl Oyston's beef in January was mainly with Kenny Moyes}

sorry to post again so soon but the cavani talk is laughable. he signed a new contract in thr late part of may, talked about his love for napoli (the club, fans, way of live, everything basically) and said he wouldnt be moving at all. these rumours are pure fabrication, he wont go to liverpool this summer i am 100% certain of that.

SMc

how do you sign a new contract for napoli when you're only on loan? sounds like a miracle to me...

I guess by not actually being on loan. Check your facts.

Hi eds. Are there any enquiries with inter for Philippe Coutinho? He would be an excellent buy and player for us. We could even use Aqua man for swap. {Ed009's Note - I think they would be unlikely to sell except for silly money - in the region of 20 million at the least.}

Bonjourno Signori, I am Antimo Iunco, I play for Torino FC in Serie B. I have always been interested in Liverpool since I was a young boy.

Now, our manager (Giampiero Ventura) knows a lot about transfers regarding Serie A (and B of course) and there was a strong rumour that Lavezzi is to join Liverpool in July.

I am afraid this is all I know and It is not 100% certain, as I said, just a rumour.

Thank you very much and I hope my English was OK (I am staying in the "Home Counties" (?) learning English at the moment).

Macca please dont try to appease the haters on this site your fighting a losing battle...KD is trying to instill yesteryear Liverpool traditions and values back into the club and that is buying British. This is because its been successfull in the past and British players tend not to desert you when they achieve iconic status. I was told by Sammy Lee personally the that KD doesent want a repeat of that. Also ill say it again and again we cant compete with the top 4 financially and in footballing terms! They all offer better wages and champions league football this is a big lure. So underwhelming British buys it will be for the next two transfer windows at least. Downing to sign for 17 million next week..Fact ladies get used to it! Jari_L

Absolute Tosh!! Maybe we should go to playing long ball because that was successful in the past. We are buying British players with potential for regulatory and financial reasons. We buy Adam at 10-15 mil', he is good enough to establish himself with better players, his value then goes up and due to the British quota system we will sell him at the right age and bring another player in. This is why we have signed a lot of really young talent from Ireland, QPR etc. From maybe 10 young signings only 1 may break through but by playing them in the Carling Cup, even if they are not enough we will sell them on still at profit in years to come to other lower Prem' clubs and Championship teams. There is not a team model left in the world that has success without foreign stars. The reason for the hype at the moment is because only our window is open and foreigners in the Prem', if moving, are only being linked with Chelsea, the Mancs and Citeh. Wait until the window opens on July 1st.

Enrique is looking for a CL team to join, according to Pardew. Other LB targets now remain Clichy and ?

he would prefer a cl team but dont mean ones gunna bid for him, , , , he would prefer to stay in england cant see man united, chelsea man city or arsenal going for him either, i think he will end up with us not sure if i want him tho what does the eds think of him

very concerned atm all these central midfielders being linked! ........
we dont need any more ........when are the powers that be realise we need width!!!! ...get 2 wingers and the youngsters will make up the rest ...

just because we r linked does'nt mean we r buying...this is afterall a rumour site mate

Everyone interested in Matt Jarvis is suffering from the well quoted Ed's saying 'MOTD fever' get over it and as real fans, why would you want to see someone at the club who had a handful of good games and managed to blag a game for England?

Are you also suggesting, in that case, that LFC missed a trick in signing David Bently? (the new Beckham).

Please (true) Liverpool fans, do not link our great club with players who only excell in three or four games. The season is many months and we are only after proven, year in year out players!!

That's why we have a youth and reserve team, to supply players who can cover three our four games when one of our stars are injured/banned. Not 8m on Wolverhampton players who went cold after a England Debut.

Ed. You say that neither Lucas or any other Lucas will play for Liverpool next season?? I hope thats not true as our current Lucas definitely earned his place in the starting 11. {Ed009's Note - I apologise sincerely if it was conveyed as such. I meant to say that no Lucas would be bought, I believe there is a definite place for our little Lucas Leiva.}

Got to get Adam as he had a brilliant season for Blackpool. Imagine what he can do with better players all around him. Also I hope they don't get the celtic left back. Good at going forward but can't defend at all. Not good when up against out and out wingers.

It is obvious that most of LFC fans are not following Bundesliga. If that is not a case they would appreciate Bundesliga players much more than they do. Bundesliga is formaly 3-rd league in europe(actualy fighting for 3-rd place with Russian premier league). But if watch and follow Primera&Bundesliga you can see that Bundesliga has more higher quality clubs than Primera.Do not underestimate german league cause soon they will be second league in europe, in 5-10years The first. The way they play is closest what you can see in premiership.

Macca is wrong about the only British... Get over it people. Its getting annoying. Every other post... oh Macca is wrong blah blah blah... Comolli said in an interview about Henderson, nationality is not important, as long as the player is young and has quality.

Director of football vs Macca.... hmmmm. No brainer much?

So stop claiming you have a source that contradicts Macca or you think/know he's wrong, because we all do!

i would like to see kenny play lucas more upfront instead of a defensive midfielder.he played upfront once in the europa cup and looked deadly.he reminds me a bit of modric.what do you think ed?

RedRicho {Ed009's Note - I think he could be a good player there; but we have better, especially after such a long time since playing there. He is a fantastic asset - in my mind - where he is.}
------------------------

For me I think he would be excellent as a box to box player if he worked on his finishing a little. His passing is underrated, I watched the europa game in question, and his pass for babels goal was fantastic, its not the only time either. He more license to go forward with brazil and does play box to box. If he is good enough in this role for the most successful national side in the world then its good enough for me.

Ed do you really think they would let Meireles go knowing that Adam and Henderson are unproven in the team.it would also make the team better with competiton for places. But I have heard thatReal Madrid will sell us Higuainso they can fund moves for Aguero and Hernandez is there some truth to that. It was a discussion between my freinds today. {Ed001's Note - nope on the Real Madrid stuff. As for Meireles, he will be allowed to go if there is a decent bid for him.}
--------------------------

Higuain is going nowhere, Mourinho has a lot of faith in him and he is arguably the most consistent striker in the spanish league. He is guaranteed goals.

Madrid will let go the following if the right money came in....

Canales
Pedro Leon
Alonso
Diarra

heard German Champions Dortmund are willing to let Barrios go on his way to Liverpool for £17mil. Nicknamed 'The Panther', he scored 19 goals in 33 games.

Watch this space.
___________________________________

I wouldnt go with the number of goals scored in Bundesliga. The defence there is generally horrendous save some of the top teams. I think Barrios is a good player at most. There is really nothing to be excited about, even if this rumour is true.

Dortmund is playing CL football next season. Barrios is one of key Dortmund players so they won't let him go as well as Goetze, Kagawa, Subotic or Hummels.

Ed,
I dunno why everyone is moaning about Sori being given a new year contract.
We've followed the example of that ukranian club (see BBC Sport) and introduced a penalty clause in his contract if he plays poorly or we get beat.
Which by my reckoning means he'll owe us 56, 234.67 quid by next may !

Despite what has been said, I believe it to be very unlikely (as well as terribly short-sighted) if Liverpool were to only look at Premier league players as signings. Whilst I appreciate that Kenny achieved success in and with primarily British squads, the game has changed a lot since. When the Premier League began, much closer to Kenny's first era as manager, only 11 foreign players started in the Premier League. Now, over 300 are eligible to play at the start of the 2011/12 season. Building a British base may be important but It should not be to the detriment of building a strong team. I don't truly beleive that we will only sign from Britain, I just think It would be a mistake to ignore Europe and the world when many non-British players can hugely improve our playing staff.

Hi I am from Germany so english is not great. Hearing things outside Westfalen Stadion that Barrios agent has spoken to people with Liverpool. something about a 21 million euros. Please want this being a rumour. Barrios is a BVB Legend

Is there anyway to check if he's from Germany? {Ed001's Note - well I could have checked his IP but it is not 100% accurate so I didn't think to bother, I just assumed it was nonsense to be honest.}

16 Jun 2011 21:53:43
Eds..what do you think will be the formation for next season? 4-3-3 or 4-4-2? I personally think that we should play 4-3-3. With Carroll as the main man in the middle..supplying crosses to him from Suarez (Right) and Mata (Left). Then play two attacking midfielders behind Carroll..Stevie G and Meireles. And then holding it together in the middle..Henderson. I know this will be a tall order, but I think he is up for it. Then to solve the left-back problem, my personal preference would be Vargas. Very good going forward, defending may need to be looked at. Then in the center-back position, Sakho and Cahill, playing balls to Henderson to run the show. I hope KD will bring us to success next season. He has all of our faith in him. What do you think eds?

Harvey Keirle. {Ed001's Note - I think it will be a variation of 4-4-2, with one out and out winger on the left and one right sided midfielder. Against teams with the extra body in midfield we will just tuck in the right sided midfielder.}

Hey ed's, i dont normally write but the frustration of reading everyone declaring they are aghast to hear meireles is leaving, is somewhat bemusing.
He is an ok player, did well in certain games for us last season and scored that goal against Wolves, but good enough for liverpool?? i have to sa no.
The problem is that we had such a poor start to the season that when the king took over and turned it around it papered over the cracks somewhat and left the fans feeling all was not so bad- just bad management, a poor squad depth and relatively low quality of player suddenly became 'quality'. i.e raul, maxi and dare i say it lucas/spearing.
kenny did what he could and pulled them together with great effect but are they good enough to compete at all levels??
lucas and spearing have time on their side and might be happy to sit on the bench fighting to get in the first team- which is great -but raul and maxi should be moved on if a bid comes in- if for no other reason than they may well be the only two we can make money off.

Ins: adam, marveux, clichy(hopefully) and two wingers mata(again hopefully) and downing( unless these adam johnson rumours are to be believed-take him over downo), perhaps jarvis also.
outs: meireles, maxi(will miss the chant), ngog, konch, jova, cole, poulson, and a whole host of others.

I am a hotel manager in the west coast of Ireland. Was talking to two Liverpool scouts at the front desk who were staying in the hotel and being a big Liverpool fan, sat down and had a coffee with them. They said that they had signed a 15 year old from cork who would be massive in 3 or 4 yrs. They also said that Liverpool see Charlie Adam as a player that's absolutely necessary for Liverpool to get, and that they would 100% get him, regardless of money involved.

They were over scouting the Kennedy cup, Irelands main underage competition with was being held in the university of Limerick. I do not have the time or energy to make up rumours.

to the person who said this... one they wouldnt stay in the west of ireland for a competition in limerick as its not in the west..

2 im form cork and my friend is on the irish under 16 team and no1 form that team signed for liverpool unless hes so good he wasnt picked for the irish team either

When Kenny said we're going to start doing things the Liverpool way (ie making signings) he must have mean't it, because we've been linked with over 20 players, there's been someone different almost everyday and in my opinion this means nobody has a clue and everybody is clutching at straws. Everybody knows what positions Liverpool need to strengthen in, so if a half decent player becomes available in that position they get linked to us. It's all being kept in house, as it should be. So we're all going to have to be patient and put are trust in Kenny to buy the right players for Liverpool Football Club.

Raul Meireles is a better player than C Adam
why the hell are we still in for him just got Henderson , I think F Gago would be a better option we need some steel in the middle and don.'t say lucas he just gives silly fouls away

After watching the u21's
Henderson not really done much for me , but glad we missed out on P Jones looks well over rated i'd rather go for s Dann a half the price

Time we made a more 4 A Turan can't see J Mata coming and I HATE Dowing please kk don't buy him

wickham looks a good buy much better nogo

Toivonen mite be a good shout as he can play wide or B ruiz

lb , cb , 2 winger and a forward 4 now would be nice

Lucas Rodrigues Moura da Silva known as Lucas (born August 13, 1992 in S o Paulo), is a Brazilian football attacking midfielder. He currently plays for S o Paulo. Lucas is in the list of FIFA's players to watch in 2011.[1] A frequent member of Brazil's Under-20 international side, Lucas has been described as the next Kak and has already attracted the interest of Liverpool FC who have first choice on signing him. In February 2011, Lucas was involved for Brazil in the Under-20 South American Championships where he scored a hat-trick in a 6-0 victory over Uruguay. Recently, Lucas was called for the Brazilian team, in two friendlies against Netherlands and Romania.

Macca can I ask a question of you mate..Why are we buying mediocre british players to get us into the Champions League when we can buy better players cheaper overseas? I just dont understand it? Surely Defour would have been a better buy than Henderson and would have cost the same if not less? Wickham, Downing, Wilson, Shelvey are all pertinent examples. Are you telling me the 10 million we spend on a Wickham a championship player we can get better for the same money abroad? The Korean guy at Monacoup front would be half the price and arguably is better? Some insight would be appreciated and thanks for all the insider info Macca...Jari_L

Just think if in KK last reign at liverpool we had this site the amount of s**t he would have recieved for selling rush and signing barnes beardsley and aldo.

I find it hilarious that some seem ready to commit suicide just a month after the season finished and we havent made any massive signings there is so much negativity.

We are clearly in the market for top players, but as I said before, just because we want a player, it doesnt mean he wants us no matter what we offer!!

Jari_L

I'm getting a bit sick of his posts, everyone of them is negative.ok everyones entitled to an opinion, but this fella (if it is) must wake up every morning look in the mirror and say i Fu**ing hate you, your so depressing
with your Victor Meldrew outlook,
you say Liverpool can't compete with the top 4, do a
bit of research and you will find we are 4th when it comes to paying wages with Arsenal behind us, and if
kenny can pull a few more rabbits out the hat like Suarez, who signed in January when champions league
qualification was a million miles away then i think most
of us will be happy, you probably wont, lets just wait
untill july 1st and we will see if Kenny only signs British

I think Macca or his sources are trying to manage expectations a little too much... LFC will go for the best players available whether they be from the EPL or not. FSG will have to pay over market value to get the best players available but they still will sanction the bids as it is important to strengthen the squad with quality as much as possible this window in order to increase total squad value before financial rules effect spending - our approx squad value currently lies in 6th behind Spurs (Transfer Markt) and to give KK best possible chance of breaking into the top 4 this coming year.

City spent over the odds on some mediocre players in there 1st summer of shiekism and I we will have to spend over market value to get top players be we must hope that we spend the £££ on players with quality and ability but also great potential as this will justify their high fees in the coming years should they progress.

I still believe we will sign at least 1 non EPL player with great technically ability as England has very few and I believe we need at least 1 possession retaining / pass master in order to gain a top 4 spot - especially if Maxi and Meireles are off.

Once the tipping point is reached departures become inevitable and the slide becomes harder to arrest than ever; what starts as an emergency solution risks becoming a permanent situation, the enshrinement of inequality and the inability to compete. Handled well, the effects can be palliated but, barring a sudden shift, the trend is unavoidable. Spanish soccer has reached that tipping point. Valencia certainly have.

David Silva and David Villa had to leave Valencia. The consequences of them staying were unthinkable. Lumbered with two stadiums -- one they could not sell and one they could not afford to finishing building, standing as an empty monument to the collapse in Spain's economy and the construction industry in particular, as well as the wastefulness of the former owner -- the club faced the possibility of disappearing altogether.

Manolo Llorente, the president, had rescued Valencia with the assistance of the local government but still needed to service the debt left by predecessor Juan Soler. Silva and Villa were the key, bringing in almost 80 million ($112M) with their moves to Manchester City and Barcelona respectively.

But if the consequences of them staying were unthinkable, the consequences of them going are concerning too. The initial, crippling debt remains and will do so until Valencia can find a buyer for Mestalla and, allied to the direction that Spanish soccer has taken, that serves to eclipse the country's "other" clubs -- of which Valencia is the strongest, finishing third for the last two years. The realization of that very fact only hastens it. When Silva and Villa left, they made the departure of other players all the more probable.

The tipping point had been reached. When Silva and Villa left, Valencia rebuilt remarkably well. With a sensible plan, and led by determined, skillful negotiators, they constructed a competitive side and still had a profit in excess of 45 million ($63M). But it was not competitive enough. Valencia won the league in 2002 and 2004. This season it finished 21 points behind second placed Real Madrid. And that was an improvement on last season.

Valencia is one problem, and the debt remains a hungry one. The players, conditioned by that situation, are another. All players want to win things; good players think they have to. When you can't compete, you leave. And when you depart, the team you leave behind can compete even less. It is a vicious circle. The hierarchy of clubs gets ever more defined. So far this summer, Valencia has been among the most active clubs in the transfer window.

Dani Parejo and Diego Alves have signed already. But that is a prelude to movement in the other direction.

The man nearest the exit door is Juan Mata -- both because he wants to compete and because Valencia know that he is the player most likely to raise a sizable transfer fee. He would make a superb signing for any number of clubs joining the queue.

Mata stepped out of the shadow of Villa and Silva to become the central figure for Valencia this season. Now, someone else will have to do the same.

Last summer Barcelona were among Mata's potential destinations; this summer, England is. Liverpool is a genuine possibility. Last summer resistance was possible with Silva and Villa to sell; this year it is futile. The good news for Valencia comes in the shape of a check for around 25 million ($35M), another lifeline provided by selling off the family silver.

The price may be a little steep but Mata is worth it. The son of a soccer player, he joined Real Oviedo at 12 and Real Madrid at 15. He won the European U-19 Championships with Spain in 2006 and was second top scorer, named Player of the Tournament. The Real Madrid Castilla side he joined in Spain's Second Division included Jordi Codina, Miguel Torres, Sergio S nchez, Javi Garc a, Est ban Granero, Rub n de la Red (who has been forced to retire with heart trouble), Adri n, and lvaro Negredo. All of them are First Division players, but only one of those is still at Madrid -- and Esteban Granero returned to the club after a spell at Getafe. Opportunities were limited. So Mata, too, moved on -- forcing an exit to join Valencia at 19.

And that is where he met Ronald Koeman. Koeman is not exactly popular in the East coast: when Valencia sacked coach Quique Sanchez-Flores in week nine of the 2007-08 season, it was in fourth place, just four points off the top of the table; when it finally sacked Koeman, his replacement, they were 35 points off the top and just two points clear of the relegation zone. It had secured its worst away result in 25 years, its captain had taken the club to court, and players were queuing to leave.

But Koeman was largely obliged to act as he did by Soler. And, besides, he did one good thing: he gave Mata a chance, putting him into the side on the left of a front three, cutting in from the wing and combining with David Villa.

Few had heard of him at the start of the season; by the end, he had scored twice against Barcelona on the way to winning the Copa del Rey and was a virtual ever-present after Koeman took charge, playing 24 league games and scoring five goals.

The following year, with Koeman gone but the case convincingly made, Mata scored 11 times. The year after that, five. Then, last year, nine. A World Cup win followed, as did the match ball -- "stolen" and spirited away under his shirt. That was not the only thing spirited away: so were Silva and Villa. Valencia had to sell and it had to compete. Together, they are almost the paradigm of the player that leaves La Liga's lesser lights, big teams that can't quite be big enough: either you join Madrid or Barcelona or you leave Spain altogether.

It could have derailed Mata. The men he combined with best had gone; men he got on well with off the pitch as well as on it. Instead, at 22, he took responsibility. Intelligent and instantly likable, he has studied at university and is making strides with his English. Mata has been a remarkably consistent performer in at team that has often been erratic.

Fast, skillful, and creative -- dangerous heading up the left wing or inside from the right, dashing from deeper beyond the front two -- he has an impeccable touch and swift, precise passing. As he has shown at the European U-21 championships, he can also take a more central, playmaker's role.

He scored 10 times and provided 12 assists. Only four players provided more. And those are the ones that were taken: he provided 73 assists in total last season.

At the end of the season, the soccer statisticians at Opta put together a team of the season. Mata was one of only two outfield players included to play for one of Spain's "other" clubs - the other was Santi Cazorla. The pity is that when that happens, they tend not to be playing for one of those other clubs for very much longer.

hmm cazorla and mata.commoli says opta stats is what he goes by.

Just a thought here, when Liverpool signed Carroll I was the first to think the club needed wingers to supply the chances for Carroll. But maybe Kenny sees things different, maybe kenny is thinking of keeping the ball with a high amount of percession and bring other players in to play to supply the crosses such as full backs. Maybe a midfield 4 of Adam left and Henderson right and Gerrard and Lucas in the middle, making the midfield narrow. All players are good on the ball and passing (maybe not Lucas) so the team should have a high percession count, making for a return of pass and move ( the Liverpool way). The passing and movement should create the space for over lapping full backs or Sureaz to get space to deliever the chances for Carroll, or an on coming midfielder running into the box. Also a narrow midfield four would make Liverpool hard to break down, so the team should win the ball back quickly, to restart attacks again.

Just a thought Basil

Ajax defensive midfielder Vurnon Anita is being tracked by Liverpool and Arsenal.

Dutch sources say Liverpool have jumped ahead of the Gunners in the battle for the young midfielder.

The 22-year-old, who won a Dutch title last season with the Dutch side, signed a new two-year deal at Ajax recently which reportedly includes a 15 million release clause.

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish was actively scouting for talent in Holland regularly during the first-half of the season

It seems that i am getting a fair bit of stick for not being able to name any differant targets than the press are mentioning.

This is because the players that are being mentioned are the first choice targets.

Would you prefer i mention the likes of Aguero etc if even if we are not looking at them..

The problems the club are having is trying to get rid of the deadwood, i believe there are 10 people that they are trying to get of the wage bill, i can confirm Meirles is one of them and will be leaving..

The other problem we have is that other clubs are trying to hold us to ransom with the transfer fees..

Adam will sign..
Downing wants to come,
Enrique or Clichy,
Dann
Wickham.

I am being told that they are first choice targets, i also think a lot will depend on who we manage to offload. I am also pretty confident that we are not looking at players from outside the prem..

I know that i have not given any new targets but that is the list for now..

Cheers

I trust KD's decision. I would even trust him if Poulsen is to be bought again tomorrow morning but from what macca suggested, if we are only targeting players in the league, we will be average team with good squad. henderson, downing, adam, Dann, wickham will make us like Aston villa's team which was good under Oneal. For the first time, I hope macca is wrong. I do believe premier league experience is important but there aren't enough quality players left for sale. what do you think Eds?

I just wanted to post on this site to try and add some positive comments to this site to combat the negative posts that seem to be flying in at the moment.

KK performed miracles turning the team round second half of last season. KK knows how to get the best out of players and i am sure Henderson, Adam and Downing if they all come will become far better players under kennys leadership !!

Adam might only have played for Blackpool last year but he still played against top quality opposition and ripped them apart at times. Man u at Blackpool first half springs to mind. He was quality for Blackpool and will only improve.

Henderson needs quality guidance and he will be the player he promises to be !!!

Downing is a fantastic crosser of the ball, he may not have the flair of Young but i believe he will offer more as a team player !!!

Anyway rant over.

keep the faith - whatever happens it will be better than last year.

The club are probably looking to offload - Poulsen, Ngog, Jovanovic, Konchesky and Insua surely if you tell them they are no longer in the plans going foward and that they should look for new clubs or play in the reserves they would leave for another club even if it meant taking a pay cut.

Was thinking about squad depth...the last few years we've often got off to a slow start and fallen behind the leaders quickly...and maybe this was because players like Lucas, Kuyt, Torres, Skrtel and maybe even Gerrard and Carra were so sure of their place that there was little motivation that they needed to play well or be replaced...but if we get a big enough squad everyone will be playing for their position...this was even shown last season when Maxi started playing better when Carroll and Suarez signed, and Meireles stepped up his game with Spearing around...I think squad depth is the key and having enough quality in depth is more important than signing 'marquee players'...we already have Gerrard, Reina and Suarez who would get into any Prem team..we need youth and quality in depth. Thanks eds, sorry for long post, please post in banter not rumours

hi eds, first time iv wrote on here, but read your site befor and after work every day, just a fort an for ppl's opinion what would you think of playin suarez out on the wing an have kuyt an carrol up front?

Dave {Ed001's Note - wouldn't you rather get better wingers and have Carroll and Suarez or Suarez and Kuyt up front? Seems a waste of Suarez's ability to play him out wide. He makes such good runs and creates so much space when he has the freedom to go anywhere.}
====================

I dont think its a bad idea Dave, a bit like how Ronaldo played for United ...

BREAKING NEWS:

Liverpool won't be signing Charlie Adam, Juan Mata and Scott Dann by the end of the week. It has been a fascinating transfer window for the Reds so far, with up to 1 players having already signed. But in a shocking twist to the tale, Liverpool have confirmed that they won't be wrapping up any huge deals by the end of the week.

In a statement on the club's website, Damien Comolli said, "I am delighted to announce that three new players will not be joining Liverpool over the next few days. Bids haven't been accepted, so all that remains isn't for personal terms to be agreed or for the players to pass a medical. We wish these players long and fruitful careers away from the club, unless we sign them in the future which we might or maybe not."

Our insider at the club said, "I don't know anything really, I work in the kitchens."

More on this story as it unfolds...

Ok I take the criticism constructively and admit that KD is not like most football people and has LFC blood running through his veins...But he's not a stranger too poor signings and my only fear is he will not spend the transfer budget wisely. Why buy overpriced British dross when you can get better for cheaper overseas? And please guys dont be jingoistic and try and defend the Henderson and forthcoming Downing signing. They are average at best. We all knew Hodgson was garbage when he signed and we dissented so why cant we have an opinion on the crap KD signs? Im including Caroll..Before you all say Suarez he would have signed regadless. Also Poulsen to go back to Italy on a Loan/free transfer with us paying part of his wages..Genoa from what I can gather. Jari_L

16 Jun 2011 19:31:39
Look at NESV style at Boston. All done using stats. Make a few shock sales, and buy second tier level players with potential and right age profile. Paisley always said sell a player at his peak, because it doesn't get any better! DC and KK know exactly what they are doing. I'm reasonably happy with buys going back to January. We've got to accept we won't attract so called super stars, but with a little shrewdness, and staying under the radar, we could come out of this with a young quality squad. Downing played well against us, home and away, in a poor side. Adam will be devastated, if we are outbid, because all noises point to him wanting to come here. KK and DC will not be held to ransom, and I'm sure NESV are really hard-nosed, well savvie business people. Chillax and enjoy the ride!! YNWA

jari L your a muppet

we can match man u and arse in the spending now, if it was not for the fact that we need to buy about ten players to make the sqaud top draw, we could go get the top draw players (cl attracts the best players yes i agree).
As 4 top4 wages im preety sure were not far of united and we pay more than arse (granted there all kids).

16 Jun 2011 19:28:28
Macca is Mata a realistic target for us? have we contacted Valencia or this being kept under wraps even from your goodself?

16 Jun 2011 19:28:12
sorry ed if this has been asked before but if adam wants to join us why doesnt he just tell oyston im not gonna sign for any club apart from liverpool so you can accept the higher bid but it wont work out.
DORSET RED {Ed001's Note - he has already told Oyston he wants to sign for us, I am not sure if Oyston would have even held talks with us at all otherwise.}

16 Jun 2011 19:26:27
if we sell meireles then i wont be happy and will be upset with kenny and damien, cos hes been great for us for his 1st season and will get better, replacing him with adam isnt the answer cos meireles is better than adam its a step back if he does

@Macca

Look, lad, you don't have to explain, prove or justify yourself to anyone on here.
The last time I checked you didn't thrust or ram your info down anybody's throat.

People can choose to either believe you or not. Simple. If lads like Irish Kev have, for their own reasons, doubts in what you say, that's THEIR problem.
For you didn't dictate to anyone on here that they should take what you say as true.

If you doubt Macca, rather keep it yourself instead of coming here and being a right nuissance by constantly questioning (and insulting) someone as though he forced anything on you.

There's regular posters on this site who I've got doubts over their "information".
But do you see me making a point of sticking that in their faces? Make them justify/prove themselves/their "info"? No. Cause there's ZERO need for that.

When info is given, whether by the editors, Macca, Rewflo, Redturk, "James007" or "Mr Broughton", for my own reasons, either I'll accept it or reject.
I won't say gimme proof.
This is not school, the BBC or politics.

People will post what they want to post-- true or bulls**t. The onus of believing or establishing the validity of postings devolves on the reader.

So, Macca, the only thing I wanna see you doing is posting whatever it is you have, and NOT justifying or proving anything to anyone.
Whether you've a 100% accuracy rate or otherwise, those who want to will believe you and those who don't want to won't, simple.
You get that, lad?

This post wasn't aimed at Macca doubters as I know quite a number of them two-sentence thicks of which there's zero point in engaging, but Irish Kev, you seem a reasonable fella.

But tell me, man, if as you say, you've "doubts" about Macca's info, is that Macca's problem? What are you expecting him to do about that?
Is there a point in you sticking the fact that you're in doubt over the bloke's news/info in Macca and this site's faces?

Sorry for the long rant, but I'm frankly sick of the behaviour on here. Incredibly stupid, if not that then completely pointless... or both.

Anyway, ed, I was wondering whether there remains any interest in the young Toulouse lad, Moussa Sissoko.
Talk was that he was being eyed as a potential replacement for the skipper.

But now with young Henderson coming in, it would seem that perhaps there may be a change of plans. Ed?

Jack Masters {Ed001's Note - I have no idea what has happened there, we held talks with Toulouse and he was told he was seen as the long term replacement for Gerrard. Since then it has all gone quiet, I don't know if it was because the deal was all done and we have to wait until July 1st or if we just couldn't get any kind of agreement.}

16 Jun 2011 19:25:52
Apparently kyrgiakos contract extension is automatic due to no. of games he played last season, is that true ed?

Also any updates on Adam, Downing, Wickham, Johnson, Clichy, anyone?

Thanks

Mac {Ed001's Note - yes it is true, we had no choice. I haven't heard anything new today at all, been busy working to try and get some articles from some ex-pros my auntie represents for the site. Trouble is her and me uncle drive a hard bargain and aren't willing to do them in return for an ad for their after dinner speakers agency without checking if it is worthwhile first. So there will be a new ad going up soon for my uncle's book so he can test the waters and at least see if it does something.}

Jari_L

thats funny cos we r bidding for players outside the epl, , , mata is one and we r favourites to get him ive heard of other interests outside the epl, , cazorla for 1 most will be from the epl yeah but not all our buys will be from the epl

16 Jun 2011 19:23:41
Ed I would like to remind everyone that a lot of posters said we would only by English, which is something I thought may happen due to the home grown rule coming into effect. People kind of dismissed this statement a few months ago... I myself am a little worried cos I think there are better quality players in Europe that could be available compared to over priced young English players. We cud have got sakho for the reported phil jones bid? Villa want 20 m for Downing?? U cud get mata for that.. No brainers for me? Finally agree with miereles going. Didn't know he was playin sometimes until he popped up with a goal.. Poor workrate one of the reasons Porto let him go. Ed would you look for only English or a little further away from home?
Dave {Ed001's Note - we have bid for Adam, he is Scottish.}

are liverpool looking at santos double zezinho and ganso.supposed to good

16 Jun 2011 19:49:21
I would like to thank Macca for confirming the news that the club is looking to sell Raul Meireles. I posted the entire situation regarding him in detail a few weeks ago and people dismissed it with hostility. =================================

I would also like to highlight the fact that I was the first one to mention about Meireles *possible* departure , I posted it on the last day of the season (or the day after) and just like the above poster I had a barrage of stupid comments.
Also back in early Jan, I posted about Suarez being a possible replacement for Torres, and again I got a lot of abuse.
Also I was the first one to dismiss Macca claims that Benzema was still a target post January, and at the time Ashely Young was a dead cert according to the oracle and I posted that it was far from.
I say this with the greatest respect for Macca and his useful info, but I am sure he would know in football transfers a lot can happen in a week, things change and targets move on ... I would expect Macca may regret posting about an hour ago "Adam will sign" .. because the whole Adam situation is messy and not clear where he will end up at the moment.

Roy

Adam will sign..
Downing wants to come,
Enrique or Clichy,
Dann
Wickham.

I am being told that they are first choice targets, i also think a lot will depend on who we manage to offload. I am also pretty confident that we are not looking at players from outside the prem..

--------------------------------------------------------------

First of all, cheers mate for your info. I may not be a regular poster here but I hold your info in high regard, ignore the kids and keep going. :-)

Now I must say(without any malice) that I hope that you are wrong for the last time on the latter part above. We desperately need a player with flair and creativity to change the game on his own and contribute in the final third, in other words Juan Mata :)

Right now apart from Adam Johnson I can't think of any local talent that can provide it, and I reckon we have a 0/10 chance of Johnson. Downing would be a decent signing but he will not provide the flair that a Mata or Perroti or Marin etc can provide.

BTW ed is there any progress in the Marveaux deal, if there was any deal?? Is he still on??

VM YNWA {Ed001's Note - I don't know of any change, we were just waiting on his recovery.}

16 Jun 2011 19:43:29
ED,

This is not a rumor but my opinion, I think we are highly overrating the current transfer window.
Going deep within we will realize that finding depth for the team is not about making the best signings in the window. A little addition here and there, promotions from U-18s & Reserve will possibly do us a lot.
Here is my analysis:
While shouting about right wingers, has anyone ever considered the possibility of Glen Johnson moving upfield? With Kelly/Flano playing behind?

Central Defenders: Carra, Skrtel, Agger, Possibly Danny? Left Midfield, Yes we need marshals here but just one with Aurelio and the Argentine?? coming up behind. Midfield is the holder and signing the likes of Charlie (who can hold deep) to play as competition for Lucas, Henderson (who can also play from the right wing, Possibly Hazard/Mata who can hammer from the left or even downing. And we keep forgetting we still have Maxi, Meireles and Kuyt.
And finally, Signing Kun or Carzola as third striker behind El Pistolero and Carroll.
A serious re-assessment of our squad with a little tweaking will go a along way in winning us medals. A team play better when they understand themselves (Barcelona) and not when they are riddled with stars like Real Madrid (In the times of Zidane, Fido, Raul and the likes).
Let's think deeply once again and give the coach an opportunity to make the shots.
Anfield Faithful.

16 Jun 2011 19:42:03
why are we not trying to steel Hazard while all the so called big clubs are going for sanchez, neymar etc.also get the mata deal done befor is price sky rockets...

16 Jun 2011 19:37:51
Ed, I have a question for you regarding Charlie Adam. If he was so desperate to join LFC and Oyston is supposedly stalling at every opportunity, why has he not submitted a formal transfer request!! {Ed003's Note -He withdrew his request that he put in in January, so maybe money? but the club are aware of his wish to move to Liverpool although just not in writing}

16 Jun 2011 19:35:12
Hi guys great site! I am the fella who first brought you the news that liverpool were looking at arjen robben from bayern. I have been told by my source at the club that interest has cooled as kenny is looking to wrap up a deal for downing aswell as pederson from blackburn. I dont rate either but i trust kennys judgement, just look at suarez! Also i can confirm that we are looking into offloading raul mereilles to help fund mata and other various targets.

A direct quote from Aguero's agent (soccernet):

"It is clear that Kun is eager to play Champions League football next season. However, it will not be a decisive factor in the decision on his future. We are currently considering his options and many factors play a role in his decision."

They haven't met with Juventus. Not saying he will move to us but I don't think any Ed can rate the move 0/10 as 0/10 would mean the move is impossible, which it isn't.

Michael Bland {Ed002's Note - What was said was that they have not met this week - but the met for two days in May.}

___________________________________________

"Kun's two agents, both [Gonzalo] Rebasa and me, are in Argentina at the moment and we have not met anyone. We have not been in Italy and neither has anyone else. We are currently in Argentina working on his future, " Reguera said to AS.

??

{Ed002's Note - Right - Enforcing the point that they have not this week discussed a deal with Juve.}

they hav spoke to lfc too, i cant see him going to juventus or ourselves but if his options were juve or lfc i think hed prefer liverpool, , , we can offer jus as much as juve can and juve cant offer europe jus like we cant yet, , , , he is an lfc fan so that would swing it in our favour over them, , , , but like i said i doubt he will come to either i think chelsea might get him

I'm not really having a go at anyone, but I'm beginning to think that we are settling for players, rather than going all out for the best we can get.

Whats even more worrying though, at the moment it seems to be taking ages to actually sign these players that no one else looks too fussed about. Are we penny pinching or playing a crafty game?

I do believe we can sign top players, and that they will sign if the club is showing that its ambitions are sky high.

I'm also sick of hearing that we have to settle for second and third choices because we can't offer champions league football! The real truth is we have won the darn thing 5 times. How many other teams in the competition next season can say that. Would Mata choose Lille, Basle, or FC Copenhagen over Liverpool? Liverpool is a huge draw, and there is no doubt that there is world class players that would jump at the chance to be playing at Anfield every week. Just make the right bid and offer the right salary (it doesn't have to match Man City's madness). As i said we are a huge draw and if we show the ambition players will come. But then again its really up to the board of any club to spend that extra amount on better quality players, and its at this point true ambition get revealed.

16 Jun 2011 19:12:44
By the way everyone i hope i am wrong with the targets i mentioned because i love the reds, been going home and away for 25 years and would love Aguero, Sanchez, Pastore etc..

I have to stand by my source who is confident until we get rid of up to 10 players then there will be no superstars coming..

Cheers

Maaca..... Thanks for your info but.... Mispellibg meireles doesn't help your cause, nor does saying that we are not looking at targets outside the prem while also saying that we are looking at Adam and wickham!

Sorry guys I need to ask , whos macca ? {Ed009's Note - A regular poster who previously made predictions that came to fruition.}

16 Jun 2011 19:03:25
love this site an always check out whats happenin but startin to loose interest in all the players wer talkin about, very avarage over priced an wouldnt get in any of the top 4 clubs.even the players mentioned on sky (i no not the best source) an the radio r poor an never want to see them at lfc.plus why cant we buy 1 or 2 players in the late 20's who r quality its doin my head in all this to buy young polisy so we may get money when they move on.lets hope ther r 2 top quality players we will love to see at liverpool.

16 Jun 2011 18:59:18
We should go for Eto'o. He may not fit the age policy but he is quality! KB

16 Jun 2011 18:56:51
Ed, should Liverpool try and take Douglas Costa from Arsenal who had a rejected bid of money and Denilson. What do you think? {Ed009's Note - I very much rate the player - at the same time I doubt it will happen, unfortunately.}

16 Jun 2011 18:56:14
chelsea united and city are doing business and we aint doin jack !, comolli is just a french rick parry , always 2nd best in the market, truth is we should have players in place by now b4 the vulchers circle, bloody get alonso in n more craft in there along with pace ! !

16 Jun 2011 18:55:02
Henderson (over priced), Adam (deal is stalling), P.Jones, Doni and Marin (rejected us), bids not made for certain players (as we was lead to believe), our top and most expensive targets are likely to be pursued by teams who offer higher wages and fees, no europe next season. Im not so sure things are going as smooth as they seem! Really really worried liverpool fan

Hi Eds, psv again starting to feel uneasy , just read the Greek got contract extention. I thought we were going for young players with quaility , and the dead wood to be move on with talk of raul going and maxi have I misunderstood the meaning of younger and quality.please help cheers psv {Ed001's Note - we had no choice with Kyrgiakos's contract, he knows he has very little chance of playing don't worry.}

16 Jun 2011 18:42:20
I think we all need to calm down a bit. Rome wasn't built in a day and this transfer window is only two weeks old. We will get good, quality players. I suspect the players will be a surprise, possibly guys that haven't even been mentioned yet.

I don't have any basis for this other than if you look at John Henry's track record with the Red Sox, he has rarely failed to get his man. If there a player that can be reasonably attained, we will sign him. If players are dead set on Champions League, so be it. There should be no reason to not be excited about the upcoming season.

Hi,

I'm not getting on Macca's back, I trust his judgment and that of the ed's on this site, they do great work so keep it up. However the players suggested are supposed first choice targets? Yet according to the SSN we had a bid turned down for Markin Marin, which seems like the type of player we'd certainly be after. So the targets suggested may not be first choice? Just a thought.

Thanks Carlito C

16 Jun 2011 18:40:30
Heard rumours we've given a contract extension (12 month) to Kyrgiakos?

Why? I think we should just let him go and we can stop paying him, unless were paying him a tiny wage?
But hes still a huge liability :/

Players over the age of 28 only need to be 2 years in.}

my first team mock up based on maccas latest post.
dont take it too seriously tho, its a matter of opinion.

reina
johnson carra dann clichy

henderson gerrard adam

suarez carroll downing

bench: doni, skrtel, kelly, marveux, lucas, kuyt, wickham.

what does everyone think? starting to see where everyone fits in, and where a few dont fit in. ie: agger, cole, maxi, meirelles, jova, poulsen etc.
i think it looks like a good solid team, and for the first time in a long time our bench has match winners like kuyt and depth. ie. the rest of them. when i saw maccas list i was a bit disapointed but looking at it set out this way it looks a lot more promising. this team could get into the top 4 in my opinion.
mikey

16 Jun 2011 18:31:09
So disappointed! no top four ! forget the title! Keep Jovanovic, Konchesky & Poulsen too! WTF is this Kenny doing! for the first time i hated Kenny after being appointed as LFC boss! Soto is crappier than Young Wilson! Cost us many penalty's! and the Europa League! {Ed001's Note - seriously? You need to get a grip!}

16 Jun 2011 18:28:48
Ed

Can i just say, great site, but please stop with these sources everyone, you're aunties parrots fridge doesn't know what day transfers will happen etc

I hope we don't sign Downing, put the money to better use, sign Mata and then surprise us like January and sign Aguero or cheaper option Adam Johnsen.

Chances of Clichy coming?

Elkington Ruffles

16 Jun 2011 18:26:01
I know it is impossible to say how much is going to be spent ? And just has hard to be sure a player will actually sign.
What is confusing me is that Macca says he is pretty sure we are not looking at players out side the premiership.
But ED2 said yesterday 100% Guarantee foreign players would be bought after July 1st ?

L1 {Ed001's Note - I am with Ed002 myself, we are defo trying to get a few foreign lads in as well.}

i think we need a CB, LW and LM. as for LB i dont think we need one as johnson, flanagan , robinson can fill it in. i think one or two of: chris brunt 7m, juan mata 22m , matt jarvis 8m, stewert downing 15 m, adam johnson 16m, marveraux free , eden hazzard 25m would be good as a left sided players. and one of : scott dann 7m, gary cahill 16m , m sakho 14m or ryan sharwcross 10m would be good for CB. as for outs i expect these players to leave: aquilani, poulson ngog agger jova soto insusa cole shevelyloan. what do u think ED?? p.s great site {Ed009's Note - I agree with roughly half your list. Brunt is not good enough and Hazard is very unlikely to join.}

---------------------------------------------------

Brunt had the joint fifth most assists in the league last year with West Brom.

Charlie Adam and Stewart Downing had joint sixth most assists so in my eyes Brunt did a better job last year than the other two. not what I'd call not good enough.

Do you still not think he is good enough Ed?
If so then why do you not think he is good enough?

We have offered 27.5m and now it's up to the player if he wants to join up to the player if he wants to join{Ed002's Note - This is an old blog article from months ago and is total rubbish.}
--------------
Whilst ed002 and I quite often disagree, I can confirm with 100 percent certainty that udinese have never had a call from lfc regarding sanchez. It was a blogger trying to up his hit count and udinese trying to create a bidding war.

Why does everyone keep worrying about the number of centre mids we have? Kenny isn't going to play 4-4-2 all season. If we go 4-3-3 (as we well might) then we'll need plenty of CMs. LIV4POOL

Jari_L, You claim to have been a LFC supporter that has travelled home and away for a number of years, but I have never read anyone with so little love or enjoyment of the game or LFC , so I doubt very much that you are telling the truth. You come across as a very bitter person; not an ounce of joy or humour in your posts towards other LFC supporters so I certainly don't see you travelling away to games - do you stand alone at the games? Do you speak to those that you obviously look down upon? These are the reasons people don't believe that you support Liverpool - your hatred towards us is impossible to hide. If you are actually a Liverpool fan, for your own health why don't you think about knocking it on the head - it's not worth it mate, it's making you ill. Seriously.

(Failing that, you could just go back to the Arsenal site....)

Scott Dann at Liverpool Academy. Medical maybe? 100% true

this is fake whats he doing at liverpool acadamy when players get medicals at mellwood

I made the original post. Why would i make this up. after all, i could've made up a rumour about a world class player, not Scott Dann. I also put medical maybe, not stating he was having one. I live in West Derby and know that medicals are done at Melwood, butt don't know why he'd be at the academy. My source is a close friend who is a scout for the Club.

whats is this twaddle i am readinf of oysten accepted a bid for adam only to decide it was'nt enough and now adam is sitting at home waiting for a bid to be accepted, you can't accept a bid and they say actually i've changed my mind...lol..its madness, charlie adam himself would not have it, player power is as powerful as it's ever been if oysten really was being such a kn*b surely adam would force his hand by putting in a transfer request, he knows he's not going to annoy or hurt fans because every single one of them know charlie adam is leaving...and as rafa would say that is a FACT {Ed009's Note - if you have your facts why bother asking? Take what the Ed's say and if you choose not to respect it, we just won't answer your posts in future.}

16 Jun 2011 18:04:09
If Marveaux is signing on a free after the 31st July and Liverpool sign Downing like many people have said on this site then why would liverpool be after Mata or Turan? I can't see the club signing 3 left wingers.
Ed are Man City still after Mata after there failed bid? If Man City sign Mata do you think Johnson would be avaible as he would further down the pecking order at city? I know he is a left winger but Johnson can play down the right aswell. Personally i would rather have Mata or Turan then Downing or Johnson.

Basil {Ed009's Note - I think there is a chance Johnson could make the move, Mancini wants the board to entertain offers. Should Liverpool want the player they will need to make an "acceptable" offer - then we shall see}

After hearing the views of some Blackpool fans and reading about the Adam situation on Blackpool fc vital football (or whatever its called) its aparent that fans and others concerning blackpool are just as arrogant as Karl Oyster (or whatever his name is). I for one dont even want Adam to come to us. Yes he has great free kicks but what else is he gonna bring to the team that we dont already have? With our talisman Stevie G to come back free from injury, Jordan to learn from him and hopefully Raul remaining with us as well as lucas now showing his worth our midfield looks good to me. I say any money that is/was to used for Adam should go towards a winger/left back or at least someone like Wickham. KB

please put on main page and please give me your thoughts people......how as fans are we to have any faith in our team in getting back into the top 4 when it's quite obvious our transfer targets are actually just lfc lining up players for other clubs as we don't like to get into bidding wars? Even though the moneys there now as soon as we see another team sniffing around our targets with a few million quid extra we go running, we have to worry as fans that this kind of policy will cost us top quality players and the elusive 4th spot we so badly need, a couple of extra mill is nothing when a great squad can get you champo's league football,
im not looking for us to buy the title like city are trying to do, but surely even as a footballer if you know liverpool are interested it should make your day but to then see them baulking at the price because of other teams interest and willingness to pay 3 or 4 mill extra...well it would'nt make me feel very wanted, we have to get back into the top 4 but we don't actually want to compete in the market with our main rivals, we expect clubs to bow down and not want to get the best price for the players so we will pretty much lose out on all our targets who are top players,

16 Jun 2011 18:00:23
To all those who keep saying ''if we sign so and so does this mean we're no longer interested in this player'' could you please look at the bigger picture! what have we been lacking MOST compared to our rivals? DEPTHS IN SQUADS. We may not go for the most highly rated players, but we're going for those who will fight for their place and understand that if they are on the bench they must show what they are worth and not fuss and moan.

Eds, is Dann interest from us gone cold, havent heard anything for a while, Cheers, TJ. {Ed002's Note - Interest remains I am told.

I've been told by plenty of Birmingham fans that they definatley won't do any business with Mcleish or Villa.

Michael Bland {Ed002's Note - What was said was that they have not met this week - but the met for two days in May.}

___________________________________________

"Kun's two agents, both [Gonzalo] Rebasa and me, are in Argentina at the moment and we have not met anyone. We have not been in Italy and neither has anyone else. We are currently in Argentina working on his future, " Reguera said to AS.

??

{Ed002's Note - Right - Enforcing the point that they have not this week discussed a deal with Juve.}

___________________________________________

"We have not been in Italy and neither has anyone else."

Says nothing about this week... Nor does it say anything about May, therefore I call shenanigans.

16 Jun 2011 17:49:02
I don't understand why people are constantly knocking Macca. All he's doing is posting what he claims to have heard, just like everyone else on this RUMOURS site. He's never claimed to know absolutely everything about every transfer going on at LFC so don't dig at him for being off sometimes. Things in football can change hour by hour, everyone knows that.

16 Jun 2011 17:48:24
all this bull i am reading about liverpool wont be drawn into a bidding war is winding me up, no matter who the player in question is, basically what that is telling other teams is, if we have a target who all our main rivals think is a top player then they know all they need to do is pay a couple of mill and a poor squad player extra and bobs your uncle, liverpool miss out on ANOTHER target, it keeps happening, for some reason we think we are a club that should'nt play bidding wars,
you just watch adam go to spurs or mancs next year and have a top season for them because we did'nt want to play bidding, yet we'll buy a pretty unproven player in henderson at 20 yrs old for a no problem 20 million pounds, some policy that is

16 Jun 2011 17:47:07
Dalglish is going to need something really special to get us out of the rut we are in. I just don't think he has what it takes. Also, why do you all think we're going to catch United. They're miles ahead of us and clearly a more attractive destination i.e. Jones, Young. It's not a case of buying a couple of decent players, we need 4-5 world class players. And when the Fair Play rules come in, we can't spend the owner's money then anyway. It doesn't look good.

Cassano will not sign he does not fit in the bill for King Kenny and his new transfer guide lines :) oh and i believe Charlie Adam is not an Essestial singing but i think KD is trying to a buy wider range of players into the squad just incase injuries to top players happen ie Steven Gerrard!

I can't believe Raul Meireles will be sold this summer , I prefer him to stay - his mobility and attacking nature are encouragable .

I expect even more of him during 2011/12 .

LFC for the domestic treble next season .

1977

yeh that is true but he allways shys away from tackles and dives... i dont think lfc want that... yet he did contribute majorly to our new style of football... i will be sad seeing him leave

If Macca is to be believed according to his most recent post of targets & the belief that we are not looking for anyone outside the PL. Then I must say we are doomed. No way we will make top 4 with the lot he mentioned as targets. I for one hope Macca is totally off target, otherwise gonna be a very disappointing season. BTW I'm not having a go a Macca, I am thankful for his info. Just really disappointed with the ambition of these targets.

Scott YNWA {Ed009's Note - I am sure we are looking for targets outside of the Premier League, and I'd expect to see 3 or 4 perhaps from abroad. The simple fact is that the international transfer window is yet to open, and therefore we are looking to conclude our business in Britain first.}

I look at this site nearly every day and have to laugh at what twaddle people come out with. I know its a rumour site but even so, still make sure the rumour is from a reliable source or someone who knows what is going on at Liverpool.
The truth of this is that know one actually knows the truth, most of the the rumours on here are just duplicated from the the media section of the Liverpool Website.

Ed I also have to laugh AT YOU because on Monday you said Charlie Adam was going to Melwood straight after his partners Miss Uk Contest, how did you know this and why did it change because I dont beleive you have answered the question ! I beleive you are full of cr** as well. Its a good laugh though. {Ed009's Note - Whilst I do desperately need the toilet, my fellow Ed's are not full of crap, I can assure you of that. Oyston initially accepted a bid, and he was on ready to come to Melwood until Oyston suddenly decided it was insufficient. He is now sitting at home, twiddling his thumbs waiting for confirmation of an accepted bid. That could no have been foreseen by anybody.}

16 Jun 2011 17:29:43

Cheers

How can you possibly know this ? You said we were getting Young and Benzema ! I never heard you mention Henderson and we signed him !!! I never heard you mention Marin and we bid for him !!! Ed001 I cant find what you told us about Johnson? And the search isnt working for me. Please tell me what you know mate. And what are the chances of getting him? {Ed009's note - I'm not Ed001 unfortunately, but we are led to believe that that chances of Johnson signing have increased significantly. Mancini would appear to have persuaded the normally unfair board that an acceptable bid from an English club for Johnson should not be thrown out, as he is unwilling to play for Mancini. I would suggest though that with the interest in Downing he remains an outside possibility, nothing more.}

"Anyone else heard he rumour that the relationship between KD and DC is near breaking point? DC feels KK is undermining him and doesent respect his judgement! From the whispers ive heard coming out of Melwood are that DC wont be there come next season...And any praise KD heaps on DC in the media is PR a excercise to avoid negative publicity. I think well here more about this story over the course of the season. KD is in an extremely powerful position at LFC and this is exactly the reason why FSG didnt want to appoint him but were forced to by the fans. Also Javi Martinez was first choice midfield target but he rebuffed us hence the signing of Henderson Jari_L"

that is some verbal diarrhea your spurting plus the fact you said that if the KING praises DC then its a pr exercise utter rubbish since when does whiskey nose read a liverpool rumours site

nobody predicted it. its what macca was told. and it was before anybody else.
can people stop trying to wind up macca? or can the eds just not post it? its clearly designed to wind him up.

Why all the hate towards Macca? I think we have some jealous little boys on here, grow up fellas.

Read this 5 mins ago:
Interviewed by Sportitalia, Franco Zavaglia, agent of Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani, has declared: "Last summer we established that Juventus could have signed him on a permanent deal for 16 million euros. About two weeks ago, when I went to England, his evaluation went down to 9-10 millions. At that time we didn't know that Conte was going to be Juventus new coach. There have been no contacts with AC Milan. I am working to make him leave Liverpool".

16 Jun 2011 17:06:12
Mate, look i can understand if you doubt me, i was wrong with Benzema and Ashley Young..
------------------------
In light of the Macca abuse i thought id share this

I can back Macca up on the ashley young saga. I have no idea why it didn't happen but I know someone that works at the club and im not talking about a steward or kitchen staff. This person is based at melwood. I will not call them a source as they never pass on info normally. Infact the only things they have ever passed on are:

-Ryan Babel got a bollocking in the changing room before the united match by rafa and he said and I quote " i wasted allot of money on you, can you give me at least one good game"

-Some senior players were not happy with the daglish appointment (OutRage I know) and wanted what they considered to be a top European manager. They didnt mention any names but shortly after Torres left so im assuming he was one of them.

-And the final one which is the only real rumour/inside info ive ever been told was that Damien Comoli announced in the dressing room, infront of players and staff (thats how the person I know found out), That we were signing Ashley young .

Again I have no idea why it didn't happen and I can not back Macca up on any other rumour/info but I can certainly vouch for him on this one....

Choose to beleive me or not It dosent matter, Like I said I wouldnt call the person I know a source as they never normaly share or know anything about transfers until its public knowledge anyway, so Ill probably never get any real breaking news again, dosent stop me asking them though, but thought id stick up for Macca on this one. Cheers for the info Macca, even it it does turn out to be incorrect, its still appreciated by some of us.

PS. I have left the eds my email address so they can enquire about the person I know, if they want, although there's not much point as this transfer (the only transfer info ive ever had) turns out is not going to happen.

In regards to the talksport article about Cassano.

There is no way we will sign this player. He is am immense talent but he hasnt got the ambition to make it outside of italy.

A friend sent me extracts taken from his autobiography and he basically said im the best player at Sampdoria dont even have to try,

He said when he was at madrid all he done was eat and party because he didnt get a game and when he gets older he wants to be fat from eating food and sleep with lots of women.

Not exactly fitting LFC's blueprint eh, although you have to respect his honesty.

Heres a link to it: italy.theoffside.com/serie-a/antonio-cassano-releases-his-autobiography-and-hes-not-afraid-to-tell-it-like-it-is-like-always.html

Sources in Northern Italy have revealed that Liverpool are the Premiership club to have already made a summer bid for the Udinese and Chilean 22 year old.

The winger has been the subject of more transfer speculation than most over the last few months and Liverpool now look to be heading in the direction of sorting out player transfers as quickly and as quietly as possible and this premature offer is obviously a sign that Liverpool's new owners actually mean business.

We have offered 27.5m and now it's up to the player if he wants to join. {Ed002's Note - This is an old blog article from months ago and is total rubbish.}

Liverpool have today confirmed the release of four players.

Reserve-team quartet Deale Chamberlain, Steven Irwin, Alex Cooper and Nikola Saric have left the Reds following the expiry of their contracts.

Liverpool Football Club would like to wish them all the best for the future.

Shouldn't Soto and Degen also be on that list eds?

----------------------------------------------

Soto got an automatic 1 year extension because he played a certain number of games. He'll still be on his way probably, but at least we'll get a fee for him.

I think Degen has still got a year left on his contract, but he'll be getting shipped out on loan or permanently, surely?

The Charlie Adam saga is beginning to look reminscent of the Garry Barry transfer saga of a few years ago. We all know that ultimately lost us not only Barry but also Xabi. Let's hope we don't end up unsettling Lucas or Spearing for the sake of the over valued Adam.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

we lost Xabi cause Rafa tried to force him out to Juventus to raise the cash to sign Barry. totally different scenario

Does anyone else feel that Dalglish may not be the right man for the manager's job. I mean, he has been out of management for a long time, and things have changed since the early 90's. The 20mil signing of Henderson is a poor buy in my opinion. He is very unproven and did very little at Sunderland to impress me. We are targeting very average players at the moment i.e. Adam, Downing, Dann. I feel we need a proper manager who has knowledge of the game and is a proven winner. We cannot target the top players because we don't have Champions League football. Not even Europa League. I just don't think Dalglish is good enough. I fear we may be calling for his head by the end of the season.

Bulldog LFC {Ed009's Note - I for one will never call for his head after on season. I think a man so illustriously proven should not have to answer to one of us about his decisions. I would say give him a chance before you jump at him, but he's already had a chance, and he took it ridiculously well, so lets give him the benefit of the doubt again.}(0)(0)

Saving newly born babies from hearing their first words of Sergio Aguero.
Give us one clue to his identity ed - does he disappear into phone boxes at moments of crisis and come out wearing red underpants over his kecks ?

There has been a lot of talk about Adam Johnson and personally I would love him to come to us as I think this kid could become a true great. However I do have an issue with where he would play I know he is a lefty but everyone has to realise that all if his best performances have come playing on the right. I think this is his best side and I also think it's his preffered side. Therefore playing him on the left would actually be playing him out if position. I stand to be corrected but I think I'm right (I usually am!)

Chris in Tamworth {Ed009's Note - I think he can play fantastically either side mate, but he often played left for Boro, and I believe its his preferred side, I'm not usually a fan of wingers on their wrong feet!}

The Charlie Adam saga is beginning to look reminscent of the Garry Barry transfer saga of a few years ago. We all know that ultimately lost us not only Barry but also Xabi. Let's hope we don't end up unsettling Lucas or Spearing for the sake of the over valued Adam.

Bob

Hi mate,

I think this is a bit different. Xabi was told by Rafa he could leave if a suitable offer came in.

"At the end of that season, speaking to Rafa, he told me the situation and that he wanted to sign other players and I could be one of the replacements, "

"If an offer would have come, probably I would have been sold. That's when I told myself that the situation had changed - from being a very important player to being one of those who can be sold to get funds to sign other players."

The difference this time is that we are trying to build a squad, Kenny wouldn't unsettle any players and make sure they understood that it is a team game and everyone is important. Also over a season those two players will get enough game time.

Bulldog LFC {Ed009's Note - I for one will never call for his head after on season. I think a man so illustriously proven should not have to answer to one of us about his decisions. I would say give him a chance before you jump at him, but he's already had a chance, and he took it ridiculously well, so lets give him the benefit of the doubt again.}

According to Talk Sport Liverpool are close to signing Antonio Cassano from AC Milan.

Cassano is an arrogant tw*t and would never fit in at LFC. He has had a bad attitude throughout his career. We don't need any primadonnas please.

Heard rumours that Andy Carroll is injured again and went to the court hearing of his ex agent Richard Conway limping badly. Have you heard anything about any fresh injuries, will he be fit for pre season. Heard this on twitter so likely its crap. Hope we get rid of the dead weight soon, sooner they are of the books the better. Great site guys.

FIXTURES FOR 11/12 OUT TOMOROW , ANYONE WANT TO BET WE GET AN AWAY FIXTURE FOR OUR FIRST GAME AGAIN AND AN AWAY FOR OUR LAST GAME WHILE THE MANCS GET ONE OF THE NEWLY PROMOTED TEAMS AS THIER FIRST GAME AT HOME ??

16 Jun 2011 15:25:14
In response to some of the comments about buying young now and then with a CL spot buying world class, it is no different than building a team to get out of the Championship and then how different that team will look when it kicks off for the first time in the premiership....we simply cannot attract the superstars now, and picking up premier league experienced players to get us into the CL is the higher probability route to go. Sure its not sexy or exciting but we need to grind out the away wins against the bottom half teams to get us to the CL...we have no problem getting up to play against the top teams as was witnessed this season after KK took over. I firmly believe over the next 3 seasons we will have two complete team transitions with the team for next season built to get top 4 and then the team for the following season or so adding higher quality players. So a Downing, Adam, etc fits the bill for now and after a couple of good seasons we can sell on to fund the Aguero's, etc or whoever the stars will be by then.

Well I'm still not done with this third strip carry on.
Do any of you / your kids own Lpool scarves ?
They are produced in the team colours.
Mainly versions of red & white of course.
But, in my time, I've had white with little bit of red & yellow.
White with a smidgeon of black & red.
Red & green.
Yellow & red.
And other versions thereof.
So who's gonna go the match, sing YNWA before kick off, and raise a f***ing white & hint of bl***y blue scarf above their head ?
Eh ? Eh ?

I was in Athens and Istanbul and have spent a fortune on LFC. I would suggest not many people on this site can say this. If this makes me a gooner so be it...Ed: I dont proffess to know everything thats happening at LFC and Im sure you dont either but the KD and DC story will unfold over the course of the season I will lay good money on the fact DC will get the cop within 9-12 months. But guys can you not villify me for posting what I hear/know. JARI_L

Antonio Cassano will not be coming to Liverpool, regardless of what talksport have to say. he does not fit Liverpool's Transfer Policy is about buying young players with a resale value, therefore spending near on 28million on a 28 year old does not make sense.
Just using simple logic. Kabir

-------------------------------------------

Its also simple logic to have established/ experienced players in the mix with the young players or we may as well just use the acadamy stock. Furthermore, theres no resale value in henderson, its as clear as the days long that clubs are having to pay a premium for young supposedly talented footballers. I realy can't see the substance behind this policy and fear it may all end in tears.

*** BREAKING NEWS ****

To all those people who doubt the recent posts about KD and DC - I can tell you that it is absolutely true!
Kenny Comoli and Damien Dalglish have been at each other's throats since Damien Dalglish forced the new Liverpool manager to spend millions of pounds more on players than he had been promised. Despite promising the manager £20 million to spend on new players. Kenny Comoli has outraged the manager by giving him an unlimited budget and then spending days and days and days scouring the world and attracting the attention of some very interesting players for him to buy early.

Speaking on radioFOOTBALL on Twitter, Kenny Comoli said, "I am outraged that our working relationship has worked out this way. While other clubs have been hesitating and scouring Europe for the very best young talent, we have been forced to look at players like Jordan Henderson, Juan Mata and Arda Turan. We should have been looking at Scotty Parker, that kid from Newcastle, what's his name, the arsey one? Yeh, Barton, that's it. I am gutted."

So it looks like the rumours of the manager not being supported with the money he was promised and forced to look at only young, potentially brilliant and resalabel players is true.
I'm gutted!

Fair comment about Torres, and most footballers to be fair, but KING Kenny has proven his loyalty and passion for our club for over 30 odd years and fully deserves his KING title. The man loves the club as much as any fan and respect should be paid where it is due. I simply do not believe you are a Liverpool fan.

ur an idiot. Kenny showed loyalty and commitment as well as extreme talent, whereas torres was talented but betrayed us- but thats not why he's the king. He's the king because of his response to hillsborough. no man, let alone footballer, could have done more. he holds the people of liverpool in the highest regard, and we the people can never repay him for what he has given us. Show some respect to the king, never compare him in anyway to disloyal, liers like torres. YNWA

It just proves that it is not how much is spent on a big fee for a player....it is about buying the right player to improve the team.
That Auqalani is a perfect example £20m +
Could not hack the prem and despite how well he has supposed of played in Italy...no team wants him for anywhere near a third of that price.
We can't get rid of him ?

I would love to see Matt Jarvis at Liverpool, rather than Stewart Downing.

16 Jun 2011 14:41:33
Guys arguably our best ever side was that 1990 side managed by a chap called Kenny Dalglish...do you think he is trying to get back to something like this:

GK Bruce Grobbelaar - now Pepe Reina

CB Alan Hansen - now Carra or Agger
CB Glenn Hysen - now Skrtel or Kelly
RB Barry Venison - now Glen or Flano
LB Steve Staunton - now Robbo or a new signing?

LM Ronnie Whelan - could this be the Henderson role? I would rather it was an out and out winger such as Adam Johnson or Mata or Downing but Whelan didnt play as a winger.
CM Steve McMahon - Stevie G!!??
CM Ray Houghton - Charlie Adam or Lucas?
AM Peter Beardsley - Merieles
LW John Barnes primarily left wing but played all over the attacking roles - Luis Suarez has this role now

ST Ian Rush - Andy Carroll

The main point i am trying to make is that there was no out and out holding midfielder - if Mcmahon went forward which if he often did, Whelan and Houghton would cover. And vice versa.

The only winger i think we had that year was Walters.

sorry if this is a bit simplistic but appreciate your thoughts....

thanks
Paul

Alright
Whats happening with uniteds attempt to hijack Adam?
I know the player wants to play at Liverpool but can the club change the destination due to transfer fee? or in the end is it Adam that decides? {Ed002's Note - It is not what one would consider a hijack but simply another club making an off

old red nose will do anything he can to scupper liverpools chances he can of signing players.and this all stems from when liverpool signed glenn hussain.fergie had verbally agreed with hussain and his agent to sign for united .hussain went on international duty and when he never arrived at old trafford fergie and his assisstant flew out to see him and glenn had said he decided to come to us.that is were the rift beetween fergie and kenny all started 100% true

I have said aguero is very very unlikely to go Madrid...and now hopefully more people are understanding this. Also interest in Javi Martinez will be lit again, expect to see this break in the media next week. You may think yeah whatever we are going for adam, well less wait and see. Munian will not be looked at because Wickham is the young striker they are focusing on. Carzola and downing are the wingers but also Mata to be played in various roles such as CAM ST LW RW

HI ED just want to no why king kenny is buying these mediocre players for top dollar andy carroll 30 mill, jordan henderson 20million and ive watched him in under-21's poor showing and average at best midfielder who shows no willing to put himself about and work for the team cannot pass has no pace does not score any goals and to be honest in my eyes is useless who is scouting these players my gran could see he is no good so why cant a well payed frenchman.and do we not negotiate a transfer at our club any more just go straight in there with a full 20million who in there right mind pays 20 million for a player who has hardly any premiership experience and no ability bad business especiallly with scum utd paying a snip for jones 17million and he looks the full article.dare i say it do i see another rafa benitez brewing spend all the budget unwisely then we are stuck with these players for 4-5 years and to top it all off rumours are bound that charlie adams and gael glichy are coming too, the charlie adams thing, we are going to pay as much as 8-10million for a player that was half a million a 2 years ago another bit of bad business, looks like glichy might be the only low transfer fee we are going to be bringing in.i must say as a die hard liverpool fan im quite sad with the way the transfers are going so far not impressed at all.just to add we have been crying out for a creative winger at our club for best part of a decade so why buy another maybe 2 central midfielders very angry indeed
GARY DA ANGRY RED. {Ed001's Note - he buys the player that will improve the team.}

Gerrard and Adam in the middle with Henderson on the right of midfield and Mata playing left wing is a very versatile midfield when you properly understand the Dalglish philosophy. Gerrard and Adam, right foot, left foot exquisite passers of the ball and Henderson can pass very well and play on the right too. Why are people finding it hard to understand that this is gonna be a brilliant supply to our strikers Suarez, Carroll and whoever comes in hopefully Aguero. We can even switch to a 4-3-3 during the game with Mata moving upfront with the two upfront. Hopefully we can buy a wing back like Vargas so we can play that way. So stop winjing and support the team next season. Kenny and of course Damien know better.

Really dont know what all the fuss is about Charlie Adam! In my veiw he is not good enough for LFC.I Hope we dont get him.
Scott Parker the same - not good enough [and to old].

Big big rumour coming from around the ground this morning - Aiden McGeady seen getting out of a beamer and rushing into Anfield with Commolli.

Why would they go to anfield, they would be at the training ground, so another made up rumour

Dann - 7m
Mata - 22 m
Cazorla - 18m
Alonso - 15 p/e - Meierles

Just my opininon.

De2 .I never said Vargas would be that cheap, i was quoting an official from his club saying they will get him go if a bid 15 euro came.Dont think he'd go for that price anyway with the teams mentioned interested.Please dont put words in my mouth please .Besides that thanks for your answer.Jonny Boy {Ed002's Note - Whilst you are bleating at me not to put words in to your mouth why don't you actually read the response before complaining.}

The way I see it, players values are calculates by two factors.
1) if he is English then he is worth an additional £10m.
2) If he has a fancy 'La Liga' name, he is automatically "world class" and worth at least £30m and at the very least 100k p/w.

I agree with the Adam and Parker points, McGeady is not that good either, and he recently said he is happy in Russia until his contract is done, they are in the middle of their season as well I don't think he will be coming to Anfield.

Hi eds. Long time reader, 1st time poster. Just want to put my opinion re Downing. As a centre forward Andy Carroll will love the fact that when Downing gets the ball he knows that there will be a great delivery into the box. This is what Barton did at Newcastle last year, 1 touch and deliver, did not need to beat a man. This is what Downing will bring to the team. he may not look the most exciting winger but he will help bring out the best in Carroll.

UNBELIEVABLE JEFF

This really is the most unbelievable news I've heard all week but it is 100% true and definatly going to happen. I have just been talking to my mate Barry Backspasm, he is a big player in the underground chiropractor business in London, he was telling me that he was treating someone with the exact same injury as Gareth Bale, the pair of them had been seeing the same specialist but Barry's lad couldn't afford to finish his course of treatment because he isn't as big a sucker as Spurs, anyway the bloke with the injury said that while himself and the chimp were in the waiting room they got talking about his future and it turns out that Bale is going to be off to Real Madrid at the start of next month, this is going to triger a transfer merry go round that will see a huge number of the worlds greatest footballers swapping clubs, Di Maria will move to AC Milan, Pato will go to Inter, Sneijder will go to United, Nani to Athletico and (drumroll) Aguero to Liverpool. Oh and Spurs will recall Jamie O'Hara to replace Bale and Modric. This is all guaranteed to happen, I'm never wrong.

"i cant understand why lfc dont offer polsen, ngog, konchesky for downing .we dont want theses players so we might as well use them to get other targets."

And why the hell would Villa accept three players we don't want (that everyone knows we don't want) for their player of the year? Have some respect for other teams; our reputation has been damaged over the past ten to fifteen years because of this kind of disrespect, and I think Kenny coming back is turning it around thank God.

To the people slagging off Macca, he's got so many things right and as soon as he gets one thing wrong your jumping down his throat. Atleast we know there is one source, outside of the editors, that has inside info, is willing to stick his neck out and risk a lot, he signs his posts. Don't give the man a hard time because he got something wrong, i doubt any of you have the inside knowledge that he has. The fact that he has his own page shows that the editors believe he has the knowledge, so dont knock him otherwise your not gonna be getting the info and we'll be stuck with the majority of rubbish that gets posted on here. This is one of the few reliable sources we have.
MIKEYRED {Ed001's Note - he doesn't have the page as any kind of backing of his sources. I am not saying he doesn't have them, but it is nothing to do with that at all. It is just to avoid us having to answer interminable questions about what he said every few seconds.}

How many CM are Liverpool and people on here going to link us with?? Surely we will not be going after Gago, Charlie Adam, Alonso, M'Vila and Vernon Anita?? If we even buy one, that means Meireles/spearing (just signed new deal?) will surely have to go. Henderson i think will play on the RW as he cant buy him for £20m and not play him, especially if we are still after Adam. Also, Adam..he looks good on MOTD but for every 40 yarder he does, he does 5 wasted passes. Good player but i personally dont think he is needed at LFC. ?

I don't mind the new kit. I don't buy football kits having realised many years ago how unattractive my ale gut looks inside one.
If you don't like it, don't buy it. Simple as that. If Adidas burn their fingers on it then the next kit maker won't use blue again.

Hi Ed's - Great Site

I comment very rarely as clearly I don t have as many sources as others seem to lol

I live in Cardiff and heard from a friend close to Michael Chopra that he was being bought by Ipswich as Wickham s replacement, my friend said the strong rumour was he would be Liverpool bound but said a couple of clubs were in for him, has nothing been confirmed because of the U21 competition? or has the deal broken down? I think he would be a great signing for the future!

Also just a question Are Liverpool only looking at buying this summer? Or have they considered Loans? I like the next fan would like to see big signings but just think that if players like Gago (just for example) are surplus to requirements why we couldn t look to loan them for a season with an option to buy at the end (I know good loans are tough to get). I just think this could be less of a risk and may stop things like the Aquilani situation maybe happening again?

Let me know your thoughts Thanks for posting

Dave Welsh Red {Ed002's Note - Loans are not good for the selling club unless they want the player back.}

Strange how Charlie Adam is suddenly a lot more attractive to people now that United are rumoured to be bidding for him. Previously he was not good enough for us!
The worrying thing for me if we sign him is we are getting another player without any real pace. I don't think he would be trusted in a central role so he would end up playing a Meireles / Maxi role on the left of a 4-2-3-1 formation. If Dirk is first choice on the right we will have no pace and no width. Adam's only real use will be at set pieces.

Does it really matter if there is some blue in our 3rd kit? Only supporters of clubs with inferiority complexes tend to worry about such matters. Everton fans would be protesting en masse if they ever used red in their away kit. Tottenham fans couldn't accept the red in the Thomsons logo on their shirts.
Supporters of superior clubs don't have to worry about trivialities.

screw downing, not good enough for lfc, too expensive and too slow. Hope we see sense and go for turan who is a much better player. what do you think ed? {Ed002's Note - Arda Turan looks Atletico Madrid bound. Talks have been going on for a while and he will move this summer. Dortmund apparently, remain interested but Villarreal have dropped any interest that they had. Spurs have dipped their toe in the water over the player and I suspect Valencia and Chelsea are keeping a watchful eye on matters. I am surprised that Liverpool have not followed up the interest they previously had in the player.}

I'm surprised too but you never know what goes on in the background. Do you think that downing is good enough for us? If not who would be you ideal choice (price and availabilty taken into account) as a signing for the wings next season ed?

{Ed002's Note - I think you will probably need to trust the manager over Dowing as he does appear to be a serious target. I think Johnson would be a very good buy is he were available and, if it could be done, Mata. Payet would again be an excellent option for the right.}

yep, good shouts there. one thing i will say though is that everyone is forgetting what a wonderful prospect we have on the wing in the form of raheem sterling. would you expect to see him make the breakthrough next season? could it be that kenny is taking him into account when looking at the market with regards to how many centre midfielders we are linked with?

milts {Ed001's Note - I would certainly expect Sterling to get some first team football next season.}

Ed is it possible that we are using Charlie Adam as a scapegoat for another midfielder? KD an DC are keeping things under wraps its pretty clear, so could that mean we are trying to get a deal done for another serious target in midfield before everyone else becomes interested? Just a theory...

LFC1802. {Ed002's Note - I am not sure that "scapegoat" is what you meant. Perhaps "smokescreen". The answer is no in either case.}

Uncool (Unbelievable)

Somebody made a reference to Bill Shankly saying that if you had to watch a player three times then he wasn't good enough. All I have to say is that if a player has to think twice about joining LFC then he is not good enough.
Also we want the best players and these are the ones in demand - other teams want them as well - some you get, some you don't. Some players will sign five year contracts because they are going to play on season ECL. Let's face it, anyone who can only think one season ahead is not good enough either. Any players that we do sign will want to play for LFC and progress further in all competitions.

IMO the teams above us the last two seasons have had plenty of pace and more technically gifted players in their squads..that is all that is missing and if we get these types of players in..then i think we can make a serious top 4 challenge this coming season..any1 else have any thoughts on this.

Alright
Whats happening with uniteds attempt to hijack Adam?
I know the player wants to play at Liverpool but can the club change the destination due to transfer fee? or in the end is it Adam that decides? {Ed002's Note - It is not what one would consider a hijack but simply another club making an offer.}

==================

If as has been stated Liverpool is Adam's preferred choice.... Then he can himself architect the move by handing in a transfer request and forcing Oyston's hand... Not the gentlemanly thing to do but if Oyston is stalling then not sure what gratitude he is owed.

Alternatively, it could be that Liverpool is not Adam's preferred choice and he is waiting too, to also see which club puts the best package for him on the table. As a professional that is his right, every other working person in the world would wait before changing jobs to get the best financial package.

If this is the case then it raises questions over whether Liverpool need to fight for a player such as this. If we have offered the best package to Adam and the asking price to Oyston then we should walk away from the table.

I am sure there are better prospects than Adam anyway, and the midfield to me isn't our real priority.

Im sorry I can't really see Gago coming to Anfield. Maybe i'm wrong but I feel this could be a bit of silly season paper talk/smokescreen for another player. Why leek roughly 2 weeks before we can officially sign a european player your gonna sign Gago. Maybe it's to get Fergie to bid 25m for him. LOL

16 Jun 2011 10:31:08
i just want to pass on my opinion, downing is an improvement however he is not good enough, yes he gets to byline and throws deep crosses in- do we not want a winger with trickery who can get to line and wriggle in box- andy caroll has got good feet too, we do not want to be 2 dimensional, my advice is turan however, maybe dont want to step on atleticos toes has we have good relationship

16 Jun 2011 10:29:22
i cant understand why lfc dont offer polsen, ngog, konchesky for downing .we dont want theses players so we might as well use them to get other targets. as for adam i would offer a few of are young guns that have been out on loan last season. the likes of amoo, darby, eccleston, bruna. i hate to see the young guns go but lets be honest there not going to get a chance in the first team. as for jovanovic i would use him as a make way for one of the players abroad
---------------------------------
Thats how you get players in FM not in real life. If you give those players for Downing you are basically paying more than he is worth really one player exchange might work. If we were to get rid of these players for Downing and were unsuccesful in other transfers then we have one player and lost 3 backups. the squad needs to be strong for a chance of winning anything this season and there is strength in numbers. As for selling young guns it would be alright at the moment but it will hurt in seasons to come. Sending players off on loan is because they are being tested to slot into 1st teams with the registration on having a certain amount of english/liverpool trained players we need them to make the numbers and in an exchange clubs would only be interested in our best young talent for experienced players. If we let them all go we would just have to buy English players again and again

ED just a quick question,
With UTD trying to hijack Adam if they offer a higher transfer fee can the club change destinations or in the end is it up to Adam? {Ed002's Note - It is up to all three parties to reach agreement.}

"If Jordan Henderson is worth £20 million, what does that make Luka Modric?" - Alan Brazil (talksh**te)
"A Croatian footballer?"
Brazil scratches head: "Eternity? Brilliant! Can't wait!"

...........................

The fallout from the U21 game last night - not rocket science to have predicted we would flop as usual. With a manager who is time-locked in the 1960s, who wears his heart on his sleeve and has traded on that alone for 20 years, then what did we expect. The usual guff about "now we only have to beat the Czechs."

Henderson looked less than average last night. The only real interest came from a reasonably sharp Sturridge and alert Jones and Smalling at the back. But judging players on an end of season tournament is futile. Henderson looked tired and a little leggy; I can live with that. At that age, with so much on his mind and pressures from the media, there would always be an element of fatigue. Come the start of the season, Henderson will be eased nicely into our set-up and will show the potential class he has and will probably develop over time with us.

The shame about the U21s is in not listening to me, my mates, you, your mates and the thousands of other football fans who know as much about the game as the pundits, journalists and ex-players like Brazil. Maybe in simple terms it is all about this:

- players like Brazil (who yesterday mocked teachers coaching and badges. None of them know as much about the game as ex-players, like him and his serial flop mate George Burley) may play the game naturally, but can they pass that information on in a manner that teaches others? This is the arrogance that suggests 'great' players can just walk into management. It failed for our own Mark Lawrenson, Bobby Charlton was a flop as a manager, the silky John Barnes can't coach or manage to any top level and it's the same with Stuart Pearce. An aggressive stance, snarl and chest-thumping, "I've got a Union Jack tattoo' does nothing compared to the way the Dutch take kids from 8 and coach them till they are 19.

- journalists. That is my job. (I'm not supposed to say profession as only teachers think they are in a profession - the rest of us just work for a living!) I've written about the game. But I can't remember taking my Football Degree or Superior Journalist Knowledge Badge in Football. No! Journalists have NO MORE knowledge of the game, no more insight into tactics than most of the rest of us. We possibly watch more football than they do - and play it. The only thing (we) have is a PC and outlet for our comments. So when Steve Curry or the informative Henry Winter tells you the game is poor and why - think about what they write. No better than your opinions at work today or in the pub last night!

- pundits: do they really have anything to say that we don't understand or know about? What did Peter Taylor add to SKY's commentary last night? He talked about needing to win and more support for the front runners. "Brilliant!" as talksh**te's worst egoist would say.

There will doubtless be enough people with the usual responses of "too much time on your hands" or "so what?" to this posting. I can live with that. What I can't live with is apathy and an unbalanced idea that the PL is the 'best' in the world. If you say 'most exciting, I'll take that. What's important to realise is that the game is being hijacked by these people and you are allowing it.

I wasn't fooled by Stuart Pearce's appointment, nor his rallying call to the troops. I'm not fooled by his flag-waving bluster and how "everything will be alright when we beat the Czechs on Sunday." It's all that simple - just like the easy criticism of Jordan Henderson and the questions about how we going to make up the 18 point defecit on Chelsea and Man United from last season. The PL is a handicap then?

As a fellow poster - I blame you and all the people you know (including me) for giving these clowns credit for writing, talking and posturing about the game they own and we simply turn up to support!

please please please ed, tell me the rumours about us being interested in fernandio gago r not true!?!?

i cant take another very very average centre mid being signed! we already have hederson, lucas, spearing. i cant take much more of this, SIGN SOME TOP QUALITY FOR GOD SAKE!.....any1 who has watched henderson will know this lad has never got what it takes 2 become a top level midfielder, the lad just hasnt got it!!...and gago is the same!!!

Not sure where this should be posted Eds. I think Banter.

It looks like we will miss out on Adam (Thank God, He makes Insua and Phil Jones look slim!), however if we buy Gago and Meireles moves on, I have a sneaky Suspcion Kenny may be looking to push Lucas into a more attacking role, like his days back in Gremio where he was tipped to be as good as Kaka.

----------Gago----------
---Lucas-------Garrard---

Henderson, Lucas, Gerrard, Shelvey and Suso competing fr the two playmaker roles...
Gago, Spearing, Coady and Lucas if needed competing for the holding role.

I think that'd give us good depth in the midfield positions.

I personally Believe Suarez will go wide left, so he can either create for Carroll or unleash a deadly inside strike on his stronger right foot, much like Villa does for Barcelona. Cazorla rumour seems to be gathering more pace than most, so he may be our right winger. I don't see a deal for Adam or Downing at this moment because of the pathetic asking prices for both. Anybody who says its because of what we payed for Henderson, Grow up! We payed what we did for his massive potential. He's the closest thing to Gerrard that this country has produced. Hendo and Wilshere are the future of Englands midfield. Adam should be on Biggest Loser USA, and Downing is good, but at his peak and not worth the same as Mata or Cazorla....

YNWA! (Adam)

Your opinions? {Ed002's Note - I am by no means clear why so many central midfield players are being considered.}

I dont know about everyone else but i am SICK to the back teeth of alex ferguson sticking his big hooter in where it doesent concern him, it seems EVERY player we try to sign he also shows alot of interest. What are the chances of us signing charlie adam ED'S? {Ed002's Note - This is simply ridiculous of course. You seem to be paranoid. There is no conspiracy against Liverpool. There remains a chance of Adam joining Liverpool. As I have said repeatedly, I don't think he is good enough.}

I do not claim to have any inside sources nor am I related to the guy who
Knows a guy who cleans the dressing room at Anfield, I am just a Liverpool
Fan who is just as interested as all of you who liverpool will sign after seeing
What positions Liverpool will need to fill and where the squad needs depth
Liverpool will bring in:
CB - Dann most likely, Sokho also possible
LB- Enrique looks likely but Clichy also in with a shout
CM-Adam will surely sign, with Gago linked recently
RW-Downing looks very possible, with Adam Johnson and N'Zogbia outside chance
LW-Mata looking most likely although many other teams are interested (Marveaux almost 100%)
ST- Wickham seems extremely likely

I have to say im completely 'underwhelmed' by our transfer targets that are being mentioned on here.

I have every faith in KK, but seriously charlie adam nd stuart downing are hardly players to take us to the next level. In fact im not actually convinced they are real targets. I cant imagine that reina was convinced to stay based on the prospect of these signings.

wouldnt mind signing mr adam but wouldnt lose any sleep if he chose dirty mancs over us, ,
on plus side fernando gago would be an awesome signing and he wants to join us afta askin former players, , alonso n arebloa [spelling?] future is certainly lookin bright, n that scares the sh*t out of fergie... love it.. YNWA

Should we add Adam & Gago to Henderson whom do you see leaving Anfield?

Personnally I believe Aqulani and Poulsen will be the only CM to be moved on, I really hope Meireles is retained he is quality

Please vote on whom you'd prefer for the winger Xfer:

Believeable: Downing

Unbelieveable: Mata

Mata for me is the answer he is class

Ever since I started looking at this site I've read such amazing transfer stories which have then turned out to be absolute Cristiano Ronaldo. So my new idea is to post a list of players who have been linked and are definite NO's, then we'll see at the start of next season who came closest to the real transfer stories. Feel free to add to my list and next time I post the list will keep increasing...(and hopefully have Downing on it)

Man Utd to beat Chelsea to the signing of Modric with a significantly higher offer, they will also secure Sneider too in July.

This means any interest in Adam will die and with Liverpool his no. 1 choice will pave the way for KK. Villa are interested but Charlie is not. There will more than likely be the standard Harry Redknapp attempt to sabotage and take Adam to WHL.

My personal opinion is KK and DC should pencil a final take it or leave it deal for Adam and indeed Downing and walk away from the table for good if need be. Both players had a decent season but in a shocking team and in reality there are much better prospects out there who are better fit for KK and DC and as mentioned before DC in particular is doing a lot more behind the scenes in Europe, so expect some quality signings from July 1st of some of the best young talent in Europe. And they'll be a lot better value for money than some of the inflated valued British based players.

Just a thought on the new kit ...Standard Chartered use blue lettering for the name and have blue in the helix logo. It is not the same blue but this makes their name on the shirt look much more similar to their coporate image. Might be why it has happened?

Just wondering with the LB position it seems to gone a bit cold. But is it really such a priority position. I know we need 1 but unless we're looking for a player like Evra, A Cole, Lahm or someone of that ilk instead of Enrique for massive money or another player for similiar amount, remember Evra only cost about 3, 5 million or thereabouts. The team has to walk before it can run so would the like of Wayne Bridge be a good option for now, cheap and not a bad player. If we go from 7th 6th and then 4th well that's progress, and we have Johnson, Auerlio, and young Robinson to learn his way for the left back position as well. All the great teams of the past have had quality full backs but we're not a great team yet!!! So until we discover a real gem for that position maybe go for Bridge instead of throwing big money on a slightly above average left back or a really inflated price for an english player i.e Baines for 15 million!! And Clichy is rubbish in my opinion. Any replys welcome because I'm just making an observation.

Morning eds, I don't think I'm the only one who is not happy with Henderson and what else we have been linked with? We are Liverpool football club at the end of the day and we are linked with players that plied most of the trade in the lower divisions or who are average at best. Is rick parry back in charge or what?

Redlips {Ed001's Note - are you for real? For one Parry never chose the players. For two we have always bought players from the lower leagues in the past, but I don't remember Sunderland being a lower league team.}

Adam deal is already done. Just waiting to be announced within the next few days. Possibly waiting on more than one player to make a press release.

Oyston wasn't messing around. This is just the Liverpool way of doing business, the media don't know what's going on.

SO Adam and another player by the end of this week.

Also do you think we will see any shock departures this season?

I.

16 Jun 2011 04:08:05
If we sign Gago to join Henderson & likely Adam, we will have to move out some of our current midfielders apart from the sale of Raul. Loan out Shelvey & Spearing?

I assume Gago would be picked up to challenge Lucas for his place? This can be only good news if Gago can settle quickly. While Lucas has improved significantly over the past season, he still has trouble with his passing game more than half the time.

16 Jun 2011 03:30:43
Reina
Johnson-Carra-Cahill-Clichy
Lucas-Adam
Kuyt-Gerrard-Mata
Suarez
This I feel will be the shape for the big games 4-2-3-1
Obviously we will have the ability to be flexible with all the other current great players in the squad and the new signings some of whom we don't even know yet
the movement ( and obvious talent ) of the top 4 and adams passing from a small bit deeper will rip defences apart
I for 1 am more excited than ever now that the King has returned. Long live the King!!!

The marquee signing that DC and KD want is Fernando Llorente, DC first made a enquiry back in January as to the players availability but were told to come back in the summer. The price is believed to be 30-35 million.

Gone2curl1
__________________________

Would much rather have his teammate, Javi Martinez. Cheaper and more pressing need.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I very much doubt Martinez would be much cheaper than Llorente, i doubt he'd be cheaper at all actually. He has signed a 5 or 6 year deal with Athletic and is very highly rated, Bilbao don't really need to sell either they're not a huge club, but they have no problems with cash as far as i know. So they'd be about the same price i'd think.

To the lad who made the big post yesterday morning beginning with:

"magine If Hodgson Was Buying British Mediocrity..."

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I've only just read this now so i'm going to have my say too, obviously i can't point out all the stupid points in it as i simply don't have the time.

My god... There can be absolutely no comparison between the two.
You speak of player signings... signings of which KK has only been present for 3(first team), and are all good players.

Yes RH decided on Konchesky and it was pretty well down hill from there wasn't it, there is more to being a manager than signing players anyway.

Then you spoke of tactics, just because KK it over the age of 50 it doesn't mean his tactics are the same as roys, for f**ks sake mate, i can't believe you made reference to tactics?.

Yes we have Massive respect for Kenny and people find it hard to judge him, but there is a very good reason for this. We are not worthy to judge him, the respect he has, has been earned over the years and will continue to earn. Even if he does a terrible job managing liverpool this time around(doubtful), he will still not be slated like Roy was, this is simply because he deserves recognition for everything he has done for this club over a lot of years.

RH was not only sacked because of his player signings, he was sacked because not one single part of his management style suited our club, and therefore he had to go, Kenny is a different man, withn different opinions, different tactics, and in many ways is the exact opposite of Roy Hodgson.

To add to this, your comment regarding the fact that you think Kenny would be praised for signing Poulsen, he would not be praised, he would be supported because people believe in him, and lets be honest, he would have got a lot more out of Poulsen than RH did, and if he flopped, well bad luck, not all players are successful and everybody needs to remember that.

The lack of respect for Roy is present not just because of his signings, but because of every other decision he made.

I know this doesn't cover everything but i have to leave it there or we'll need another banter page constructed.

El juego del mundo.

Dorset red, even the great Bill Shanly had to look or have a player looked at more then once.The recent quote was from Graeme Taylor who said the great Bill Shankly was quoted as saying that if you've got to look at a player three times he's not worth buying, not David Pleat and not once even the great Bill Shankly had to have a couple of looks just to make sure. Jonny Boy dropped the 6 off for a personal reason so will be shining my posts just Jonny Boy

Those who are concerned about our new third kit being blue; long ago, (about 120 years) Liverpool Football Club used to wear a kit that was blue and white, a bit like the one Blackburn wear now. So, it's a tribute to that jersey. Can we stop all the negativity?

16 Jun 2011 02:12:47
{Ed001's Note - I have never seen the lad play, heard a bit about him, but I am so confused by all the Lucases that I am not sure what I heard about which one anymore.}

he is way better than the lucas piazon going to chelsea skillful lots of talent a attacking mid but can play wings just had a 65m buyout clause inserted in feb and his wages increased 10 fold so maybe just rumours but if we got him for under 15m would be great.DORSET RED

Hi! Ed LFC reported to have had a bid for Marko Marin rejected
any idea how much the bid was?
Think this guy could be good for us, lost his form this year so a possible at a bargain price for a player of his age and ability methinks..was valued at over 25mil a yr ago, Werder Bremen would probably take 15mil now.
Would recapture his form under kk no doubt lets get him
what do you think? {Ed001's Note - to be honest I have not seen a lot of Marin, I get told how good he is a lot though. I have no idea how much we bid though, sorry.}

16 Jun 2011 01:28:58
Not a rumour, though please post in rumours also Eds.

What does everyone make of the new white/blue third kit? It's going down generally quite well amongst my American colleagues so far on this side of the pond.

Also, side note, we went to watch the LA Galaxy vs. Houston recently (about 45 minutes north up the 405 from us) and one of my son's friends (in line for an autograph) asked Landon Donovan if he'd ever like to play for Liverpool. Before he could answer, another fan said, 'You have to be able to play real football to play for Liverpool, son.' To his credit, Donovan replied, 'They're a great club, who wouldn't want to play there.' He seemed a nice enough bloke and was great with the kids.

But I thought we must have decided against a move because I heard nothing more. I did think his injury record might have made us look to other players, I would still hold to that view. I would not be surprised if this is just a new player to link us with to sell papers or get someone to look at a Twitter account that wants a few followers. according to david pleat the once great bill shankly said if you have to watch a player more than once dont buy him.so i know kenny knows what hes doing and will people stop moaning about who we are gonna buy.all the players linked are better than who we got i.e poulsen konchesky jovanovic cole aqualani etc.its a team game where you want 3-4 world class players with very good team players around you.no point having a team full of world class players.take a look at utd fletcher etc not exactly pastore is it but they play as a team and it works.remember also that the pre season tour starts on july 13th so i would aspect most signings to be done by then.the international transfer window isnt open yet so stop moaning why havent we signed mata etc.be patient and trust the king and back any signing he makes.DORSET RED

So currently, we have Gerrard, Raul, Henderson, Lucas and Spearing who will compete for 2 spots (assuming Poulsen and Aquilani are sold). Obviously Gerrard will start and I assume Henderson will as KK clearly rates him.

What does this mean for Lucas? Our player of the season and one of the most improved players in the league and also Raul, who player very well in his first season.

Do you think one of them may be going ed? Seems like Raul is the one that's in the gossip columns but wouldn't want to see him go and although Adam is a decent player, the money could be spent much better. {Ed001's Note - I think Meireles is the most likely player to make way.}

Am I right In thinking that Charlie Adam had his worst years at Rangers when McCleish was the manager and loaned him out to St.Mirren before returning under Le Guen and getting a game. If this is the case and McCleish takes over at Villa, I can see him even thinking about working under McCleish as he must of though Adam wasn't good enough. Now that tottenham have took a firm stance on modric, I think the only team who are in with a serious shout are Liverpool. Your thoughts Ed?

Gary {Ed001's Note - I don't know who was the manager at the time, never though to ask, but he did have a falling out, 3 of them got into trouble, 2 first teamers, Barry Ferguson and someone else, and he was just a kid at the time. The two first teamers didn't ever get any kind of punishment but he was farmed out on loan as a punishment, then came back and was never given much of a chance, his only games coming on the left wing.}

Hi Ed
Can you confirm if we have completed the signing of the young Irish left midfielder O'Hanlon? I've not seen anything official. He was being spoken about as being the Irish Gareth Bale. Do you know anything about the deal or the player?
Thanks guys
Red Gart {Ed002's Note - My understanding is it is complete, but he is only a young kid so don't expect too big a splash.}

loving the news we singed three young talent already. Lloyd Jones, Jerome Sinclair and Alex O'Hanlon. shows we got the right mindset, i reckon we gona get more, two - three years we are going to be one of the most self sufficient teams around. NICE!
