in my opinion the owners are using this year almost as a test run. They are giving very little money to rodgers as they want to see how we adapt and perform under the new boss. I believe they will give more money next year and it will be given in accordance to how well we do this year.

YNWA

How can we know what kind of money they will be spending if transfer window hasn't even opened for inter-league transfers...

McSnuggles

You (and I ) are probably going to get slated for that , but i see the plausability. if we say that we that we underperformed last season and with some tweaking and some luck we could have made champions league football (or that fourth spot anyway), then it might make sense to see if someone else can make us better with what we have (more or less). plus if we replace our 'flops' (adam downing carroll hendo etc.) or if they move down the pecking order to new players, then they will be a total write off in terms of ever making some money back on them as investments ( I know Downing ..) . So yes,maybe its wise to give it another year with a new manager,system , style and see if we can achieve..or rather overachieve ..like swansea did.

Dara D

You dont know how much the owners are giving

I dont necessarily agree but just possibly see the the logic of keeping our expensive flops and try to up their game.

Dara D

NOBODY knows what the owners plan to spend

Hi ed/eds, any idea who the other clubs are that Siggurdson is in talks with? {Ed022's Note - Swansea and Liverpool, that is it at the minute.}

I,m old,and people say we should get back to basics, I agree , basics were we ALLWAYS went after the top players or the top potential, now its us or swansea,omg.

martin p

p.s if my spelling is wrong, once again i apologise to the english majors on the forum i cant spell well : ) {Ed005's Note - Sigurdsson is a very good player who could develop into a top player in a few years, I don't see what the problem is really. Just because Swansea are in for him doesn't change that. Some fans really look into things like that way too much. Anyway, how many times have you seen lesser PL clubs uncover gems of players and they end up at the big clubs? I believe Swansea have done so here.}

Mascherano was unearthed by West Ham, alongside Carlos Tevez. It'd be cheaper to buy them from Hammers than Barca or City respectively, wouldn't it?

HA Carlos tevez was not 'unearthed' by west ham ...... Is was a world class striker already!

16 Jun 2012 21:55:30
Ed, is siggurdson nailed on?

Limerick Red {Ed022's Note - I have said the past two weeks that I expect him to sign for Liverpool yes. I just find it funny that what I said was ignored until Sly Spurts report it.}

I don't want a punctured player if he's nailed on we should not take him.

I didn't ignore you ed. i'm just not that bothered as i will support anyone who B.R decides to ring in.
huddz red y.n.w.a

Sly Spurts lmao, sounds like a seedy publication Ed, oh wait it is..

KoPeNdFaN

That's the way it is sadly ed, people are unwilling to believe someone else personally because they can't get over their own ego's enough to understand you're better placed to see these things than they are, and then they put all faith in Sly and BBC and all the tabloid newspapers because 'they surely can't make this stuff up'

If it's any consolation, you eds are the only people I trust in terms of developments at the club and unless it's expressed by you or someone actually at the club I take all other info with a rather large grain of salt.

Have to rename yourself SlySpurtsEd022

Surprise surprise.....whiskey nose looking to hijack lfc's sigurdsson bid ......what is that mans obsession with our targets ..just to name a few young, jones etc etc ...i hate him so much i feel sick

Personally Im well pleased he hijacked the Jones deal, he is a second rate warhorse with little skill, and is just another Steve Bruce as far as Im concerned. They are more than welcome to him.

Just imagine if we had had him last season along with the other players we got ?

Anybody else see David Moyes talking about players, that he will be able to afford next season. I suppose the money he will get for Bale and Modric will help.
Scouse_Pride

He's going. Massive loss for Everton that.

DaveyBootle

Yep. They'll struggle if they don't make the right appointment.

16 Jun 2012 21:52:31
diame set for west ham, the lack of CL is killing the football club

Eh? Are West Ham in champions league when did that happen?

You are an idiot, you say players are not signing because of no champs league football then say he has chosen west ham over us, didnt realise you could qualify for champs league through championship playoffs

I dont understand this post? Maybe im thick. Did Liverpool make him an offer? And if they did, are you saying he chose West ham over Liverpool because of our inability to give him Champions league football? Because if he is/does go to West Ham he has more chance of playing Championship football than Champions league. If you choose West ham over Liverpool, you are doing it for the money. Im sure Lucas Neil made the same decision and look at the size of his medal collection.

Jigglypoof

If we really wanted him we would of got him above west ham pal

Yeah, how can we compete with West Ham. If we wanted him we could of got him -McMenemy

Lol. Class response.

BJH YNWA

Good let him go there, he's used to relegation battles.

64bithero

Stupid post, support a different club you muppet!

Aahhh. Lucas Neil. So glad we didn't get him.

Don't feed the trolls!

Unfortunately 50 percent of people on here seem to be Trolls....Never used to be like that. I used to come on the site and have a good read of the banter, knowing something witty and insightful would of been posted. All I seem to read these days are the same questions aimed at the Eds, written in something that resembles English..... "Yo eddzzz can u plze tel me if Cafani iz singing 4 uz my mate simple jon sez he iz? He sawed it on twiter. Gollem Baluag sez itz tru" I understand people with learning difficulties and even foreign fans may use the site and I have no problem with those folk. Its the people who are clearly English, who are just too lazy to write in coherent,readable sentences.... Dr Daniel Jackson (the guy from Stargate) would struggle to make any sense of half of the posts on here.

question to macca
what do you think of Henry's comment on the new stadium ? he didn't sound interested in it

miccmak

Macca said he wasn't that confident

I think what the owners were saying is true, sure we want a big stadium, but ask yoursellf WHY and be truthfull, most want it cause they dont want to play second fiddle to united, but demographs show that we wont fill a big stadium on a regular basic, in the early seventies we pulled 56,000 for a TOP game average was 46,000 ,.
we will never as long as i have a hole in my *SS fill 70,000 each week
Thats a fact

martin p

The man is a pro. he was lowering expectations. He doesn't make off-the-cuff remarks. This was intentional.

Krasic 6m, Tello 7m, sigurdsso 7mn, vargas 8m plus aquilani, lovren 8m replacing skrtel, luuk de jong 13m - total spent 41m - net spent - 20m

Forget Vargas and krasic and go for Ramirez or munian

More like Lovren 20m

Got any scurrilous gossip on Gabby Logan Ed002 ?

16 Jun 2012 20:21:46
eds now we have opened talk with sigurdson and hoffenhaim how likely do you think a deal will be completed {Ed002's Note - It is not that simple, but not before July 1. Sorry.}

16 Jun 2012 20:14:30
not expecting us to be in for him but would love to see Blaszczykowski at anfield, has the work rate of kuyt with a hell of a lot more skill added to it. looking forward to whatever signings we do get tho :)

16 Jun 2012 20:10:54
well ed whats the value i hav a few question for you . (1)do you think liverpool will sign many youth players in the summer.(2)what are the chance of tello and do you rate him.(3)do you expect suso to get a run this season(4)what striker would you love to see liverpool sign(5)are we looking at any fast tricky player

thanks very much of ur time
ruairi irish c {Ed002's Note - (1) I really don't know. (2) Tello is a possibility - much has been expected of him but he still is not in Barcelona's reckoning. (3) CAmeo, possible loan. (4) Soldado would be great if Liverpool could pick him up - but a concerted effort for Luuk De Jong should be made. (5) Too subjective to answer.}

Looking for info on what Spainesh players we are lookin at. Is Gollem Ballegg a credible source?

Haha, is that big Jack Charlton just got his first laptop ?
That's the dodgiest attempt at a foreign name I've heard in years !
The Real KB

Wasn't he in lord of the rings? Haha love ur spelling of Spanish. Quality post well done, made me laugh. CQ

Yeah hes a cracker

gee man

Gollum may or may not be a good source. Aragorn is a big advocate of tiki taka football...
Gimli and frodo are potential targets.
BUT, I can promise you, BR has no interest in ANY of the elves. Oh, and FSG will not be making any marquee signings. That puts the 'elrond' and 'boromir' rumours to bed.

BigBadBen

Haha its a serious question he is a pondit on rivitasta and twits a lot. Gollem ballegg, but is his romours genoine?

No need to have a laugh at somebodys spelling ability guys, not cool. Roblfc86

Gollem Ballegg ?
Haha, the lad's only having a laugh.
The Real KB

Pundit, revista de liga, tweets, rumours, genuine.

Guilleme Balague

Agreed, don't laugh at spelling but the guy did ask if a ball egg is a credible source mate

Cuch

The guy lived in Liverpool for 10 years too, has a lot of love for the club, city and people. This stems from the people of the city (as he puts it) looking after him.

He's a credible source and knows a lot of information, so yes. He also sports stunning facial hair.

hi ed there are rumour comming that ars manu liv all agreed sigurdsson fee. Do u expect he might sign for someone else. Also when lfc start pre season. Thanx {Ed002's Note - Twitter I guess. If people are just going to post nonsense from Twitter please be decent enough to say so. Perhaps you could caveat the messages with something like: "I saw this on Twitter and I am naive and stupid enough to believe it to be true so I am sharing it with you".}

I just read this on twitter, rumour has it ed002 is the best can't be true can it? ;)
Cheers psv

I expect to see ed002's reply to this on the ed002 appreciation society Facebook page! Top draw reply.

Hello eds! Just want too say what a great site this is, also in january bruce grobelaar said kenny would 100 percent sign a class south american striker, would that be jackson martinez? Its a shame he looks destined to go to porto, also do you think after walcotts performance yday that we should go for him? {Ed002's Note - Martinez will move to Porto.}

He said that he played in holland

Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing and Spearing to be sold.

^ I really hope so!

I don't. Every player deserves a chance under a new manager. Some of these players will step up...mark my words. As for Spearing, he needs to keep it simple and forget about the Hoddle passes, maybe watch and learn from his Brazilian team-mate.

DaveyBootle

You couldn't give Spearing away - the others will stay

Liverpool closing on finland 17 yr old wonderkid Joel pohjahnpalo -md {Ed002's Note - Was he the kid on trial earlier in the season?}

Yes he impressed in a 2 week trial and we are pretty close to signing him up.-md

If you watch his wikipedia page, he scored 3000 goals in 4000 games, that's pretty darn impressive, I must say !

If he's played 4000 games already, well, then that poor kid is gonna be worn out and injury prone

16 Jun 2012 19:17:01
Good evening, Eds!

I'll get straight to the point: what players do you believe LFC will sign this summer?

I know that, at the moment, there's nothing 100 % sure, but I want to have an idea at least about who we are after. I'm tired of silly rumours. I'm sure we all are. {Ed002's Note - Read the posts. I don't have time to sit here and write little summaries every time you want one.}

If your tired of silly rumours why do you come on the site

I am sure ED002 has a lot on her plate dealing with all the well structured and constructive quesions on the site. So I would like to help out.
In answer to your question:

We are likely to sign Aguero and Cavani. That will be all, unless there are movements out.
Possibilities: If J.Cole goes to Port Vale (not confirmed) We may look to sign Lampard as a replacement (may cost £2M though..)
And Finally, FSG are looking to sack Kenny Dalglish and replace him with R. Martinez or as an outside bet, Dario Gradi.

does that bring you up to speed?

BigBadBen

I really can't fathom the hatred shown the owners by some 'supporters'. The club loses ~£100M over the last two years of their ownership and some claim they're 'not spending enough'. Really?

When they attempt to increase revenue through commercial gain, they're accused of turning LFC into a 'brand' or 'selling the soul' of the club.

When they point out the relative ineffectiveness of building a new ground and the complexity of expanding Anfield, they're described as 'skint' and 'cheap'.

If they were to raise ticket prices in an effort to garner additional revenue per seat more inline with other 'big' clubs, I am sure that would be met with vehemence as well and cries of 'gouging yonks out'.

What realistically do you lot (the ones opposed to FSG, not everyone on here as there are quite a few rational posters thank heaven) want them to do? Spend £100M+ every transfer window of their money with no return in sight? Put the club in excruciating debt that we'll never get out of? I'd really be interested in hearing your 'suggestions' rather than just your non-constructive criticism.

RDL

Whilst I agree with this, I do fear the days have gone where an Aston Villa or Tottenham can pop up and win the league. And I do I add us to that list, I just don't know at the moment. It's a money game, and losses are all part and parcel of the winning for clubs who have popped up out of nowhere in the last 7 years and won - Man City/Chelsea. Man City owners, wrongly in my opinion, are not concerned about losses.

Even the fair play rules, although addresses this to a degree, still plays in to the hands of clubs with bigger fan base who can generate larger profits for reinvestment in players.

It's a money game and the quicker ruling bodies can get it under control the better it will be for the sake of football.

No not at all,

But the fact is Football is increasingly dominated by huge finance. I do not want us blowing millions each year I prefer a systematic approach at building a strong club.

However the custodians of this club should have at least the financial clout to build a stadium we have needed for 20yrs.

There is no point stepping in paying down the debt but being unable to drive the club to the next level.

I believe FSG are astute but they are simply financially unable to deliver LFC the new infastructure they deserve.

Many of their decisions thus far have been worse than poor they are absent owners and have little football knowledge or any longstanding passion for the game.

So you buy their spin FSG are so smart, keep buying the merch, but we are being told getting nothing but debt reduction is progress.

Excellent post!

I agree with you to an extent and it certainly doesn't make it any easier to win the league when there are teams the like of City or Chelsea out there with their spending power. That said, I think it's fair to say that City, as an example, has arguably the best team in the world on paper, but translating money spent on a squad into a good team isn't always that easy. So, there is hope for clubs with less to spend and we'll just have to be smarter in how we go about our business on and off the pitch.

Fair point, though.

RDL

The stadium issue will be sorted eventually, but these things take time, particularly if the decision is made (which looks increasingly likely) to expand Anfield as the logistics for that are very complex.

I disagree though that the owners should have just walked in with 300M to drop on a new stadium from the beginning. Time to analyze the situation and economics of it was always required.

I don't buy into anyone's 'spin'. It's simply my impression based on what I've seen them do. I also don't think they're absent and could care less if they didn't grow up loving LFC or playing football every day. I do hope that they appreciate the game and the club's history and I think do far they seem to be doing okay. If they change our colors to blue and slap a dragon on he LFC badge, then I'll help you write up the protest signs ;-)

RDL

To the replier who suggested 'getting nothing but debt reduction'. That is progress. I know on FIFA you can win 5 championships and build a new stadium in a single sleepiness night but in the real world (ESP in today's economy) it takes time and stability. We are working towards that. I don't know what's happened to patience in today's world. Must have gone with the Amiga. CQ

Well said poster. They can't really win as whatever decisions they make there will always be criticism. Its Ian Ayre that concerns me, but hey, what do I know? The owners must rate him though.

DaveyBootle

I have no doubt Fsg are astute.lets see when eventually Anfield gets a refurb and Air China or whatever is hanging over the welcome sign. Was that ever mentioned if we stayed at Anfield. Oh, they are astute alright,mark my words. Yet i fully understand the reason and the money it would save the club and more importantly for them,Fsg. I also have no problem with the process of getting young talent in a nuturing them thru so in mabe 3 years we reap the benifits, but dont then make statements about being disappointed if we dont get top 4. Its that easy. Just get a move on. Sort out the naming rights if thats what your doing and start. They have been here close to 2 years and not a spade to be seen.

The Irish Rover

We'll still be having this discussion in
10YEARS time, get use to it were a
mid-division club going nowhere fast,since FSG have come on board
there's been absolutely no statements
of intent just SPIN,SPIN,and more SPIN..

AUNTIE ANNIE......

Honestly fsg are not sugar dady we sold our club to wrong people its easy to say they are running the club right way if so then will be mid table for few years look at randy lerner he is another american owner who turned astonvilla from mid table to relligattion fighting team. And no american owner has proved to be good in epl or they have no passion for game so we should be ready to be mid table team for few years

eds what is the likelihood of seeing the back of adam, maxi, spearing, downing, henderson {Ed022's Note - Spearing is likely, Maxi seems certain and Adam will not leave this window, but perhaps the next. Henderson and Downing will not be sold.}

Why is Spearing likely? He is still so young... {Ed022's Note - Because he simply isn't good enough.}

Ed you know who the "other clubs" that are interested in siggy as reported by sly news?? {Ed022's Note - There has always been a few clubs interested in Sig, but he will only end up at Liverpool or Swansea. I stick to what I said 2 weeks ago, and I expect him to join Liverpool.}

Eds do you know if Rodgers will try and be ambitous for a big money signing (20m+) or look for cheap players only?
Also do you know if he wants to sign only 1 winger or 2?
And are we signing any defenders?

Reply please?

F5 {Ed002's Note - I would put aside thoughts of money. The club are short a winger and a striker. He needs to assess the squad and consider who leaves as well. You need to give him time.}

16 Jun 2012 17:39:30
Hi Eds,

What do you think of Sigurdsson as a player? How much of an improvement do you think he could make?

JT {Ed002's Note - A decent squad addition. He has done well at Swansea and Reading.}

16 Jun 2012 17:35:06
Hi Ed anyone interested in our Superb Winger Stewart Downing?

We should cash him on to increase our transfer budget he is useless.....Sterling, Suso or Tony Silva can't do worse than that?

Night Mare Signing
Worst Signing Ever {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest.}

Its not he's fault kenny paid so much for him.

Kenny suggested players who he wanted not a PRICE! remember that! So it's not the kings fault regarding the price of Downing. I'm sure you remember who our negotiator was so please stop bad mouthing the king and just support the players we have at the club they need to feel the back from us the supporters 100% proven premier league players don't turn sh&t in a season it's confidence that has been knocked and moaners ain't helping.

16 Jun 2012 17:31:23
Ed if we sign tello do think we will still go for another top striker {Ed002's Note - I think it best to avoid teh "whatif" questions right now. There is a possibility of Tello signing - "top" is subjective - are you thinking Cavani or De Jong?}

The 'top' probably meaning the likes of soldado or de jong or similar price range

16 Jun 2012 15:44:13
Dear 005, your point with cabaye, I'm sure that the intention of our scouts is to find really good players at cheap prices, gems if you will. I am 100% positive that the aim of our scouts is not to recommend overpriced good players because that's just silly! So I don't really get your point? because the one you seem to of made it plainly obvious to all. I'd love us to spend very little and them all do well, so would the owners and fans?

16 Jun 2012 17:52:20
eds i have a serious question there .. are we really considering a CL spot next year? Do the board and rodgers want to be in CL or not? i can't see them trying even , look to our rivals:
Arsenal : signed podolski . m'vila and giroud are about to sign
Chelsea : signed hazard , marin . hulk , azpilicueta are about to sign
Man utd : signed kagawa . looking for modric ( thiago alcantara or javi martinez or strootman ) and baines
Man city : looking for a top class defender and maybe a forward if dzeko leaves .. so the question is are we able to compete with them with trying to sign players like sigurdsson ? or should we have to look for players like modric , van der vaart , lucas moura ( i know they'll all cost alot of millions but we can just sign one of them as a marquee signing and get decent players like krasic , tello , cuenca , affelay , adam johnson , g.ramirez any 2 of them ) please answer editor {Ed002's Note - Of course the owners and everyone at the club wants CL football. Liverpool have spent a lot more than the likes of Arsenal in recent years so it is not simply about money.}

Who are people disagreeing with?

Both the poster and Ed002 make valid points

A: You could on the other hand look at Chelsea and Citeh who have spent a fair wedge of money.

B: Although Arsenal have been in the top 4 for a brave while, they have won nothing. Was i right in thinking that Fsg are more concerned about getting top 4 and less concerned about actually finacing a real push to win the league?

C: Do you not agree, even taking Arsenal into the equation that if we look at all the top teams such as Chelsea,Citeh,Utd,Spurs and Arsenal that we were so far behind them under Hodgson that even the money spent under Kenny that a top 4 spot with the full squad we had was never going to be realistic. We sold Torres and brought 2 forwards yet that and Bellamy where all we had while Chelsea for instance had Torres, Sturridge,Lukaku,Drogba etc. In my opinion we still lacked good players to bolster our squad and replace the likes of Kuyt,Cole,Aqua,Maxi,Spearing and at least another forward,and this showed last year. Cheers

Hey Ed's , this is not an rumour , i just wanted to say i have a player in mind that would be brilliant for liverpool , scott parker is the man , with spurs managerial future uncertain and also key players that could be leaving there club , do you's reckon liverpool could be interested in him in the near future ?
thanks

Parker is s**te

Chris in Tamworth

Well since there is supposed to be tension in the England camp bwteen Gerrard and Parker would that be a wise signing even if it could happen?

Scott Parker, no thanks

this whole 'transfer policy of FSG' is ridiculous. Under Shankly and Paisley Liverpool only bought up and coming youngsters who were undervalued. Most players bought were between the age of 18-23, and from the North of England and Scotland. So in fact it's not just the FSG policy, its both the Liverpool and FSG way. So people stop complaining.

This post is very confusing its against the FSG policy? but then again the policy FSG are following is the right one, what?

Any interest in Roman Shirokov or Mario Mandzukic? {Ed002's Note - No.}

Can't be any worse than Downing.we lack pace Bellamy quickest we've got but not getting any younger. People keep posting about 2bit foreigners who just dont settle in prem league. At least Walcott has that going for him. And no I rather have Voronin back any day over Bendtner .

Walcott is not a winger and should not be played as such.... He is far more affective though the middle!

Worst post ever. I can see u haven't got any clue of what u are talking about. Foreigners that can't settle in the premier league, like Cisse, Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Silva, Yaya toure, Aguero, etc

neostat

I'd have Walcott in an instant. Good player and match winner.
ND

Jovanovic,Voronin,Josemi,Nunez,kromkamp,Morientes,Paletta,Gonzalez,Le Tallec and there's probably more these were all top foreign players we signed who set Anfield on fire not. Half the players people mention on here they have seen play for ten seconds on Eurosport. Now who doesn't know what they are talking about?

16 Jun 2012 16:54:13
M. Isla having a medical at juventus so another one off the list.and ed's can u check out moussa sow's performance he was heavily linked with us in jan but signed with fenerbhance .MD

16 Jun 2012 16:52:06
we should sign Dzudzsak, Balaszczykowski, Elm, Huntelaar, Kjaer, Metzelder, Gaitan, Gago, Giroud, Joaquin and anyone else with a funny name.

Elm is so crap its unreal.

Perhaps we could convince Vennegoor of Hesselink to come out of retirement? Used to love seeing his name squeezed on the back of a kit.

Fans don't want players with cool names, they just want top class technically gifted footballers with a winning mentality like suarez, and at the moment, britain isn't producing enough so we have to look elsewhere

Alright,ladies and gentlemen this is a bit off topic that has been discussed on here.Why don,t we start to look into the future,like kind of what you expect from the team next season.For me ,the first thing i would like to see is the right players wearing the jersey next season.Secondly,i would like to see a strong starting eleven being put out by our coach week in and week out,in essence what i am trying to say is that our coach should be able to know his first team ,because last season,kenny made this mistake of not knowing his first eleven and i stand to be corrected by this from anyone who disagrees.Also,i want our coach to instill that"NEVER SAY DIE ATTITUDE"in the players,because watching some of our performances last season was shocking(totteham,bolton,wigan)are some of the games we were very poor.lastly,this one i am about to say,is very important which is getting the substitution right.last season,most of the substitution made by dalglish were very poor ie when loosing games and i for one hope that our coach gets it right this coming season,and may i also add that"WE NEED MUCH LUCK NEXT SEASON".Thanks for reading and your opinions are welcomed.

Just one big hole we don't have enough deepth in the squad to put out a strong 11 every week taking into account injuries and suspensions which will occur over the season and that is what underminned Kenny unfortunately.

Will Charlie Adam leave after just one season? I hope not need all the players to get fit and push each other for starting places it keeps everyone on their toes players can't take starting for granted.

16 Jun 2012 16:04:42
What do you think of Theo Walcott I like his pace and directness needs to work on his end product but still young enough. Kris Halifax red.

You obviously watched the England game.
kidmillions

Listen walcott is crap,just cos he did ok in 1 game get real will you,his goal was lucky 99 times out of 100 the keeper saves that and has for his cross for the welbeck goal he hit it behind welbeck so welbeck improvised,walcott is a head less chicken.1 good game and people love him omg next thing you will want that bentner {spelling} from denmark. si

Yeah 8 goals and 11 assits in 32 starts is shocking ability - for a so called "headless chicken", he had a more productive season than Young, Valencia, Nasri, Mata and every Liverpool player but Saurez, who actually missed far more opportunites than Wallcot and made less assists.

Wallcott has progressively better year upon year, to say he has no end product is taking the view of opinions based 3 years ago when the lad was 20.

He is 23 and getting better by the end of next season the crtics wont be able to no praise his ability and finally those that call him a headless chicken will open their eyes.

Walcott isn't carp. But he certainly isn't developing into the player we all thought he would. Once his pace is gone he will be left with not a lot. Hopefully for England's sake he can push on and get a full season injury free. I won't hold my breath mind he's like Owen, fast but weak hamstrings. I wouldn't mind him signing for us but not too fussed either way and highly doubt BR wants him.CQ

How is walcot crap he scored more goals and got more assists than all our widemen put together he is a very good player i personally think he is a striker he even said he prefers to play up front he could be like a young michael owen if played up front with his pace and finishing he played for southampton up front and done very well at 16 he is only 22 now -ZINC

16 Jun 2012 16:01:41
What are the chances of signing Theo Walcott? Always liked the lad pacey direct I know he needs to work on end product but still young enough kris Halifax red. {Ed002's Note - Very slim.}

I hope your right ed

16 Jun 2012 15:57:21
Who do you expect will leave this summer?

16 Jun 2012 15:41:06
From the previous analysis, I would recommend Rodgers for these players to depart and these players to bring in;
Departing players (with minimum estimation)
Aquillani £4mil,
Adam £6mil,
Spearing £4mil,
Eccliston £2mil,
Wilson £3mil,
Amoo free,
Cole £4mil,
Maxi £1mil,
Kuyt £1mil,
pacheco £3mil
toltal - £ 28mil plus huge salary deduction. the club will be saving £4mil a year from kuyt's sell alone. you do the maths for all these players

Players to Bring in
1. Gylfi Sigurdsson £7mil
2. Luuk De Jong £13mil
3. Gatson Ramirez £16mil
4. Vergas £7mil
5. Tello £7mil
Total - £50 mil
Net spending - £22 mil

Explanation - since i propose to offload many midfielders, we have to build the always concrete Liverpool midfield again. but that does not mean that if a defending midfielder is out we have to always replace him with another D.midfielder. possession should be given priority to midfield than tackling abilities. with this midfield we will have Gerrard, Lucas, Sigurdsson, Gatson Ramirez, Shelvy

With attack it is obvious we need a proven goal scorer. nothing fancy or anything. just one who has ground, arial and controlling abilities to score and set up goals

with Vergas - when you have a squad that is susceptible in many areas you need a player that can play in many positions. Vergas plays as a left back (2nd half of the season proves that we need a cover for Enrique), he can play as left and right midfield as well .

Tello can turn out to be a a goal scoring winger. we need that. we haven't had that for a long time now. most importantly he can take on players one to one. we luck that in our wing players

Miccmak

Who the hell is going to give us 4 million for Spearing? Personally I would take 4 vouchers for kids eat free at Pizza Hut.

Micheal Mouse

Way off mate.

Jay Spearing is Pierluigi Collina's daddy.

Cuchulainn's Hounds

Again we would pay off all those you want to leave, there would not be much in th pot and your valuations would need to be halved to start off with.

So after getting them all out our transfer Kitty would have zero in it but there would be a saving on their wages

16 Jun 2012 15:40:46
not sure why we would go for another over rated 27 year old like krasic for 6 million..while we could possibly get Hoilett for free and Dusan tadic for less than 6 million..two top quality future wingers & both would only improve from now and their prices will soar..

Krasic is not that overrated. And the price tag is 6 mil. Where as by your own admission, neither hoilett nor tadic is the finished article and right now we just can not afford another year for our wingers to settle in and develop.

Rodgers likes pace on his wings, and Krasic is exceptionally fast. If BR thinks hes the right man for the RW position, then trust in his thoughts. YNWA

RenegadeRed

As far as I know though because Hoilett is under 23 (22 I think) we would ave to pay Blackburn compensation to the tune of £6m, am I correct in this Eds? I read it somewhere but can't remember. {Ed002's Note - There would be compensation due - about half of that would be likely for an English side and a lot less for a German side.}

16 Jun 2012 15:31:45
does the high profile appointment of michael laudrup as swansea manager risk the deal of gylfi sigurdsson joining us?
him having a similar style of football approach as rodgers might make him target identical players like clasie, dos santos, gylfi etc.
if it comes down to liverpool vs swansea, players ideally would have only one option but chance of playing under a legend as laudrup may tilt the balance somewhat..

No. At the end of the day We are Liverpool and could have Ronald McDonald whilst they have pele in charge and still attract bigger names than Swansea. No disrespect aimed at swansea just think people on here have forgotton what a truly great and inspirational club we are. CQ

Hi eds, this is really a transfer rumour i would really like to know your opinion

Now we been linked with siggurdson, do you potentially think gerrard will play a deeper role like he has been doing for england, because that seems like the best position for him possible...

Also out of all positions which do you think is the much needed and BR hopes to resolve?

LFCHero :)! {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what Rodgers will look to tactically but I suspect a forward and a winger remain on the cards.}

Yeah have to agree here mate, think the injuries and age have caught up. He seemed to run out of gas last half hour Yesterday. Still great but not sure he will play every game this season.

hey eds if we do sign krasic do you think we will be looking for another wide player or would krasic be a starter, i wouldve thought he would be more of a squad player or rotation option, but i havnt seen much of him to judge.

I have just read the article on what John Henry has been saying about the stadium. Is it just me, or does anyone else see this as a lead up to an announcement that we will stay at Anfield and there will be no significant redevelopment?

Agree, I think Lowering the wage bill, a manager use to dealing with smaller budgets and staying with the ground we have are a reallity at this moment in time.

Yep its just you

Its all austerity measures is it not.
Damn, the whole stadium matter is very disappointing.
Honestly if FSG don't even have the money to 'redevelop' Anfield, we have to ask if they are in anyway suitable as owners of LFC.

This question has been asked but the muppets don't want to hear the answer all they want to know is when Cavani is coming any other subject and you are a troll that should not be fed.

Who cares about England? This is an LFC site, go on an England one.

Here here

England, not a chance in hell, lucky against a 'older' Swedish team, will be 'shreaded' by the better teams.

Hey Eds. Just quick one. I read somewhere that BR was to meet Del Bosque at spain's training camp. But it didnt happen. Something to with there scheduling or something. Not sure if anyone has mentioned this. Did you hear anything about this? My first thought was that he might be sitting and watching his training session or maybe looking at players. Think Balague said something on twitter that he introduced the two. Not sure how credible this is just thought id pass it on.

So the way forward for us apparently (and I agree) is to find young players with potential that will play in attractive pass and move style game, and reap the rewards of our acadamy in the future.
A system based on the ajax/Barca model?
Now Sporting a club Barca regard as having a fantastic youth policy, infact world renoned for spotting young talent and nurturing it, signed a 22 year old (now 23) Argentine international Left back and he has played 23 times for them this season. So why did we get rid of insua so young, to a club renowned for spotting good youngsters?
RNred

Ahoy - the reason Insua left - his agent demanded the club paid his monthly Greggs bill, this was refused and thankfully saved the club from Administration.

However we could have used the fat knacker as an emergency goalkeeper in penalty shoot outs.

just a question if i may,
was there an agreement when fsg bought the club that they would have to bulid a new stadium or re-develop anfield,the same as when the two cowboys bought the club from moores, that it was part of the deal.

red jay

At this time, its hard to see any difference between FSG and the Cowboys!.
Big promises and fu*k all delivery!.

How I wish we had got better and more deserving owners, not the 'Boston PennyPinchers'!!!.

So what they've shelled out a few hundred million quid with no return in sight, they should be happy to shell out more!

You have no clue. I think fans like you should voluntarily pay 2x the cost for everything at Anfield to help make up the difference. Sound good?

When MARTIN BROUGHTON was selling
the club he specifically said that any
new owners would need to have the
finance to kick on with the new ground,
he said that was a pre-requisite for any
new owners of the club.......google the
press at the time of events........

auntie annie......

Well maybe MARTIN BROUGHTON was mislead or maybe FSG were ecomomical with the Truth either way it looks like no new Stadium which is not a bad thing if Anfield can be redeveloped properly then thats the way to go.

Hi ed, do you think Rodgers will give first team starts to sterling? Does he play young people
cheers,
Scott {Ed005's Note - I don't know but I assume not. Really, what is this obsession with Sterling starting matches? The lad has bags of talent but he is only 17 years old and nowhere near ready physically or mentally to play regular first-team football at this level. I think fans need to get real and accept that he will get appearences but won't be a first-team regular for a good 3-5 years.}

If you're good enough, you're old enough.

Not 3-5 years .. More like 1-2 years, max!

Yeah 3-5 years?? glad your not in charge, he'd be getting a pension by the time you would start giving him game time

The ed has a point, there's a huge difference between Raheam and alex chaimb at arsenal and now Powell at Man Utd the latter are streets ahead physically and IMO better talents if we could of loaned Raheam out last season to let's say crewe I think he would be 10x the player. He needs 1st team games at league 1 level for atleast a season to catch up with Powell and Alex atm we are waisting his potential and I also think that when it comes to it Ibe will become a better player I think sterling may become Walcott and Ibe I hope oxalaiade

3-5 years????????????? lol

The burnout issue in regard to Sterling is a non-issue as far as I'm concerned.

A lot of games at a young age never did Giggs any harm. Or the likes of Gary Speed, McManaman, Rooney.

Some players are luckier with injury than others. Some, such as Owen - may have suffered from being overused. Liverpool relied heavily on him, as did England. Would his hamstrings have held otherwise - who knows? Was bad medical advis to blame? who knows.

There is no need for overkill with young players - just be sensible. If they are tired, rest them.

Don't overdo it - we have a big squad, burnout is nothing to worry about in Sterling's case.

Based on ability though, and judging by Rodgers' use of players like Sinclair, Dyer and Routledge - Sterling may well be a player Rodgers may look to use this season.

Rodgers has not been corrupted by the 'not big enough' mentality of the English game. He loves raw pace too (don't we all) - Sterling is just about the quickest player we have.

3-5 years ed!!! If I was Sterling I'd just bugger off now rather than waste my time. lol. What if he played amazingly well? Are you just gonna say "not till you're 22 son".

'Physically and mentally' he appears more than ready to play. No-one said anything about playing every week either.

After all - Is he gonna take Suarez' place? Is that what people are clamouring for? lol. Of course not. No-one rational expects that right away. He's only made a few cameos so far (and didn't look fazed in the slightest).

He's a great backup option for Suarez though (as is Bellamy).

He could also do a job on the right, maybe even forcing his way into the team in that position over the next year or two if his performances are good enough.

He'd run rings around most of the defenders in the league tbh. He has ability beyond his years.

BJH YNWA (Messi had started kicking arse at his age too. Let the boy play Mr. Rodgers. He merits a place on the bench in my eyes - perhaps we can give him a start in the Europa league or the League Cup, lets see how he copes with it. Great wee player. Gonna be class - don't compare him with headless chickens like Walcott, W. Phillips & Lennon either (decent players, don't get me wrong). Sterling had a better footballing brain than that lot by the time he was 15.)

Rooney and Carroll could be the most terrifying front pair in in tournament. defenders would have to be stretchered off. welbeck is the english david ngog - no desire or threat bar that one moment of quality

Dont be so bitter, Is not liverpool v united now, Rooney and Welbeck will start, Support your country, Stop having digs at united players at englands expense. we have all season to do that next season.

Is Rooney not a Manchester United player?

I agree with him. From what we have it has to be Rooney and Carrol. Welbeck just isn't good enough.

Tristan

Yes terrifying hairdos thats true

redmurdie

Yip Shrek and the Ponytail.
Elegance personified, classy combo.
You must be soo very proud to be English.

If Welbeck and Young weren't at Old Trafford, I doubt they would even make the squad. The media have hyped them up way beyond their ability. If Welbeck hadn't scored late on, you could say he had an awful game. He was in the team supposedly to get in behind. I can't remember one instance in the game when he did this.

Carroll up top, with Rooney playing off and around him would be awesome. Rooney has the brain to read his flicks and also can drift wide and get quality crosses in to Carroll. So what if he plays with Welbeck at United, it doesn't automatically mean that they are the best partnership for England.

I fear that Roy won't be strong enough to go against the wishes of the press, so I expect Welbeck to start. I'll hold my hand up if he proves me wrong and does the right thing.

eds what formation do you think BR would prefer out of 4-4-2, 4-4-1-1, i know there both fairly simple formations just wondered what YOU think he would prefer? and what formation did he use at swansea? cheers, sorry about the awkward question, please answer it still! :) {Ed005's Note - I would imagine a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1}

Ed005,
if we bought this sigurdsson lad (spelling ?), who plays in the hole, how do we fit suarez and big ac in the same side without shuffling suarez out wide ?
the real kb {Ed005's note - well the only solution is to either drop Carroll or play Suarez in a wider area and i think that would be best - putting him wider. He seems to enjoy coming in from the left hand side and in all honesty he isn't a 25-30 goals a season player in the PL. I think Suarez is more effective there anyway - his movement is top class and he draws defenders out, not to mention running at them and causing all sorts of problems. One problem we had last year when we played him up top on his own was that he doesn't have the pace to run off the shoulder like Torres did for example, and proved at times ineffective in that position especially without sufficient service. When out wider of course he can cut inside and get into the box etc.!}

Thank you for your answer Ed005! {Ed005's Note - Not a problem.}

Yeah Ed 005 , FA cup final is a perfect example of how suarez on his own upfront didnt work...

Why does the keeper not figure in these formations is he playing in the " hole "

Ed005. I reckon Suarez can get 25-30 in a season in the league. I'd back him for that next season (if he's about.. I hope so).

You just wait. We haven't seen him at his best yet. Trust me m8!

I totally agree though that he's best on the left of a front three, as you say. Not causing trouble here - just saying I feel he can deliver so much more than we've seen.

I see Steve Howard is up to his usual sh*t stirring in that rag, The Sun... Read online him slating Andy Carroll in last nights game. Was he watching the same game everyone else was?? But, then again, I expect nothing less from this Liverpool hating lazy journalist. The guy really is a clown.

Stevie: Never Forget The 96

Mate am an everton fan and i thought carroll played really well and him with rooney up front could really work for england.The last 4 months carroll has turned out to be a good player so ignore that s--t paper he had a good game.blue

Fair play to the blue above!
Friendly banter and appreciation of players is what the games all about.
Oh, can we have baines? Thanks.

Class blue, class answer.
KiwiRed

What are ya's all reading the s*n for? online or the paper true Red fan's would'nt read either!

Just to reply to your comment about "Reading" the Sun. I do NOT read the Sun, it was posted on Facebook. Just clarifying...

Thank You. Ohh, Steve Howard IS a knob.

Is it just me or did Wellbeck no way mean to do that!!
Howcouldheplay

I'm not a big Wellbeck fan but, yes it's only you.
However I'm not going to go over the top like some commentators have about it being "genius", it came to him in such a way with his body in such a position that it was the only thing he could try. I've tried it myself on a Sunday morning

Chris in Tamworth

He was trying to control the ball thats all.Lucky goal !!!

Some pundits are saying that Theo Walcott's goal was lucky.
Why, cos he lashed at it ?
That's what Cisse did for Newcastle, and he was lauded for a stunning goal.
I still say he lashed at it though. That one was lucky as well.
The Real KB

Come on lad give him credit because it was a good goal.

I dont think he did mean it but alls well that ends well

Theo Wallcots although a cracker , he himself shrugged his shoulders afterwards and smiled as if to say "did'nt mean to do that" as for Wellbecks goal I personally thought he meant to collect it with his thigh and missed it , he then instinctively flicked at it with his heel, and Chris you keep on trying that on Sunday mornings and one day the big boys may notice and give you a game :)

Dav001

P.s I've just got onto the fact my signiture looks like I'm trying to copy the ed's I really had'nt twigged till last night, it's actually off another forum(Mature Dating) I was just to lazy to think of a new one...

There is no way he meant it, and Walcott's goal took a deflection KB.

Square tomato

He didn't plan on doing that, but who's complaining! It was a goal and we won.
I liked the look on walcotts face when he scored. It was a "how did I do that" look!

I think it is about the reaction, he tried to get something on it, and it went in. When it goes in the commentators call it genius and make out like he is Messi. It wasn't' THAT good. But it was a good goal.

To be honest i think he meant to do it.. good goal to be fair

I think he tried to control/drag the ball/turn and hit it with his left, but we'll take it guys, even though he plays in a bad shade of red

Yorkshire Red

Why does anyone even care? Get a life people.

LIVERPRES

Give welbeck some credit. if messi, ibrahimovic or ronaldo do it then it's a moment of pure genius and the press the world over applaud it.
a striker's job is to get the ball in the net, it was a great piece of awareness of the situation and i say this as an lfc fan through and through!

It's not just me then
Howcouldheplay

It was a great back heel by Welbeck to find the net. Not as good as Djimi Traore's back heel:):):):) though...
kidmillions

I've scored goals like that. Hardly genius, but smart finishing. Nice goal, fair play to the lad.

But what about Big Andy eh!

That was a £35m header if ever I saw one. Absolutely top class.

BJH YNWA

I don't think Welbeck meant to do that personally but give credit to him for being in the position he was to receive the pass.
But Andy should be ahead of him next game he along with Glen Johnson were class last night.

To all Liverpool supporters. Please remember we used to be a big club, we cant just live on our past glories. We cannot attract the top players because they want to play in the Champions League - we will not attract them. Brendan Rodgers has been brought in to run the club on a shoestring budget because the owners are not interested in the Premier League, their interests lie in America. So get real.

Never seen such rubbish

GET REAL

Bless.

YOU get real... ...your no Liverpool supporter, i'll tell ya that.

I think a better way to explain what he was trying to say is:
We are not the club we were, and we have no champions league attraction for top players. Times have changed and the new owners are going to run the club like a business should, by making profit. LFC is not a rich mans toy it is a business, success will bring that money in, but we are starting at the beginning. The owners will not pour in 150 million every year and i for one, do not expect them too. But they want to win, they want to build not from the pinnacle of success, but from the beginning.
From a fans point of view this can be difficult because it means old habits must change if you are to move forward. As fans sometimes the height of expectation means pressure on everybody at the club and this can have a negative effect. I advise all LFC fans to look at the Newcastle fans last season, they came out of nowhere on the same "shoe string budget" mentioned above raided a significant top four challenge. The noise from the crowd was unbelieveable each and every home game - look at the effect it had on Carroll when he showed up. Now is not the time to buy world class players, it is a time to create them. Use their hunger to win trophies, not the fact u have already trophies to convince players they can just sign for a high fee and collect something at the end of the season without putting their own shift in. This in turn should be looked at as a journey that the real fans can ENJOY, get behind the team and provide positive energy for once. Rafa might not have come back for some of you guys, but Rafa's 12th man is still at anfield each and every week. Time for him to put his shift in xD

Huws {Ed005's Note - This is a fantastic post. One of the most easy to edit this week.}

Superb post Huws!

Heres a misconception companies must make a profit.

Not so.

Many thousands of companies are run not for profit

In footballing terms you have Chelsea, roman does not want to make a profit from chelsea, Man City and Barca are other examples of not for profit companies.

When the owners take profit from the company it leaves less to be invested in the business.

BTW What did newcastle achieve on their showstring budget?

The Markets

NOTHING!

Newcastle had a modicum of success last season: My bet is that they will not sustain it, they were just last seasons surprise package but now that the "cats out the bag!" they'll fall back on their old ways, so I wouldn't use them as a model for success. Jeez!! the geordies as a model for success? get real!
kidmillions

I would explain to you all why Roman stays at Chelsea, splurging millions and billions in the epicentre of global finance for no apparent logical reason.

But then I'd have to kill you.

It's fairly obvious really. Learn a little about the man.

I agree with Christ in Tamworth re Rooney. However, I would retain Carroll and drop Young (who has been worse than useless so far) for the Ukraine match.
I would start with Rooney as I do think that he would be a great partnership with Carroll.
I m o ....other than his goal Welbeck has been anonymous. Carroll is far better at holding the ball up and bringing others in to play. Carroll is also a great defender from opposition corner kicks. I also can't think of a decent cross put in by Milner?!
NB:
On a separate note I'm addicted to this site.
THANKS Eds for taking 1hr of my life every day!

Welbeck had a great game against France it has to be said.

And welbeck scored a nice goal against belgium, milner done one decent cross that welbeck headed and should of done a lot better with

Hey eds and reds.

Now this may sound a little dramatic but I'm actually despairing at the state of the supporters of the club. FSG saved us, we were apparently 'one day' from administration when they came in. For all intents and purposes we should be bowing down and feeding them grapes. Yet all I see is people moaning about how FSG has no money ( completely untrue ) or how they are just in it for the money ( like every other businessman in the world ). It saddens me, whether people like it or not, football is a business, clubs need money and spending 200 million every season is no way to ensure the survival of a club. FSG are making us stable. They are making us comfortable. Some of the fans need to open their eyes and see the bigger picture. I just hope to god that FSG don't cut their losses because as ed002 suggested because of all the moaning whining, ungrateful pr****.

I suggest a John Henry song

My past gripes at FSG mate were never about their intentions. I don't think any Liverpool supporter could say they have anything but good intentions for the club.
It was their execution. There is a lack of football and local expertise in general among the top FSG men, and their forward planning was poor - appoint Comolli, sack Comolli, Kenny the same, after giving him a £100m quid as well, and it's a risky choice with Rodgers.
The stadium - we'll see how that goes.
However, things seemed to have settled down a bit and, like you say, we should give them a chance.

i read a book about romario,when asked what was the best coach you ever had he answered cruyff.he stated that cruyff told him you are running to much and thats not i want from you.pay attention to carroll he is running to much and trying to help the team wich for the eye seems good.
carroll should run less and the goals will come.the goal he made yesterday his lick up play was class.if we get 2 class wingers we will see the real carroll next season

Rodgers will not have 2 wimgers knocking balls into a big forward, he has stated this allready, look back at the interviews he gave when signing.

As much as I really like Carroll, he's no Romario

Now let me be honest I was vehemently against Brendan Rogers becoming the Manager of my beloved club but I must admit listening to the guy speak about tactics and the game in general I am quietly confident that Brendan Rogers is not only going to get us playing sexy football but make us winners again. When Hodgson was appointed we all groaned with pathos because all of us could see the future even if cecil and FSG couldnt. Initially when Rogers got the job I was underwhelmed but day by day im coming round to the fact that this guy is the right choice. Yes Klopp would have been ideal but Rogers knows the Premiership and also speaks Spanish so hopefully can appease the Spanish speaking contingent currently at the club and maybe more importanly can attract more South American/Spanish talent because we cannot take risks on more over-rated and under performing English dross! Welcome to Anfield Mr Rogers, good luck cannot wait for some exciting Barcelona-esque winning football...Miami_Red

FSG had nothing to do with appointing Hodgson

They may not have been incumbents but were pulling the strings before they bought the club...Hodgson was a FSG appointment

I can't understand how Liverpool 'ask' to be kept 'informed' about players. Surely with all the scouting resources at their disposal they can make an assessment and bid for a player. Seems illogical that other clubs sign players whilst we sit back and wait! People seem to forget that we have won what is it 18 league titles and 5 European cups, we are a more successful club across the board than Manchester United, surely this carries some currency?! I don't believe this is being sold to prospective players enough. Lets think of ourselves as a big club, because we are a big club! Rant over.

We do.What makes you think our scouting department talk the same talk as some of the clueless idiots who trash LFC on this page? Plus I'm pretty sure being kept informed just means when the club are ready to sell a player the clubs that are interested will be told.

Most players weren't alive during Liverpool glory days, so why should we expect them to choose us over any other team. Sure we will always have amazing history but unless we start making some real consistent impact on TODAYS game we are in danger on missing out on alot of the international support/revenue

Eds i know you like Coates particularly 005 do you know if the club do? I was hugely dissapointed with the lack of game time he got I would've picked him ahead of Carra because IMO he's past it and Coates could've gained valuable experience in the games Carra was picked for but then if I was manager after the arsenal game I would've picked the youngest 1st team possible. {Ed005's Note - I would hope the club do mate. I see no reason why not. He's physically suited to the Premiership with his strength and he isn't as slow as people make out from what I've seen. Is great at reading the game for his age. He needs to improve aspects of his game - positionally he is lacking but a good year can improve that. I think he's going to be a top defender. I'm sure BR will see that.}

We will now see the benefits of europa league. more games = more opportunities.

Red7.

You're absolutely right mate we shouldn't rubbish these competitions they sometimes get in the way but it gives the younger more inexperienced players a good chance to play some competitive games and show what they can do and there's some quality teams in there in the later stages i'm up for any footy it's all good.

Cheers 005 and boys for your comments

The problem with Coates right now is that he has trouble reading a direct game. He has been brought up on attributes such as cutting off passing lanes, going into tackles early, and similar ideas to defend against South American players who play on the ground. He has trouble when balls come flying in over his head, but he will only get better with time. I think he will be a great defender in the future, but we need to get him time, especially against teams like Stoke, to round out his game.

I hope the europa will give sterling, suso, sama and teixeira a chance aswel if not then the carling cup.

Had £2.50 on eng 3.2 carrol 1st goal got 130/1 laughing all the way to william tmoz lads thank you for stevie and carrol i wonder if brendan will stick with carrol next season i posted not long ago about carrol being our ibrahimovic tonight carrol made a bigger difference than ibra so hope that goal does carrol a world of good keep up with the work edds. STEMLOCC1

Loved Carroll's effort and work rate tonight and he was also consistently good in his touch and awareness of players around him. I thought he had a good game.

In comparison (and I appreciate that he scored the 3rd goal), but I thought Wellbeck was very poor overall and Young, well, quite frankly I thought he was ********.......But we wont see the press get on their back will we!

anyone who bashes the owners please go and support a sugar daddy team. we signed crap on massive wages and spent lots of money on ding under H&G and many of you want us to continue that. our club had no structure and clearly no financial plan. our club was under a cloud and nearly went into administration. that was until FSG came along and saved us. they are trying to build a structure and have a good financial plan and because they aren't doing what H&G did at the start makes you question them. they are proven and have had success already. they are trying to build a good foundation and are forward thinking. theyy are trying to balance the books early and even from the emphasis on youth you can see that they have a long term plan. we recorded a 50 million pound loss last year and the owners are trying to reduce that. we bought young british players early to avoid the future scramble for english talent that will happen when the homegrown rules really kick into play. we are building a footballing philosophy at youth levels and have hired a coach who can put it into practice. we are buying smart which is the only way one should buy, and if the players aren't happy to take a pay cut then let them go. a sugar daddy owner helps in the short term, but not in the long as man city will soon see. i think as weel you fans re bang out of order insulting ed02 in particular for giving us true info. you are then slating him/her for basically holding a mirror up at some of you people. you should be thankful some of the cr*p you post is even getting dignified with a response. well done ed's keep it up and ignore the criers because they are obviously idiots who don't have a clue. you know more about the finances than them, the same way henry and warner know more about building a successful business than them. hey if they are so upset then maybe they should buy the club and sign players and managers for ridiculous wages. i for one would rather have players who play for the front of the shirt instead of the back. we used to have smart fans and we still do. the only problem is that the smart ones aren't always sure of themselves when the idiots are confident. i really cringe for you simpletons. rant over. (eds you should all know your work is appreciated)

D.Liver

You are optimistic about FSG, and that is a good thing. Whether it is because of our experience with the 2 cowboys or not, I personally believe that anyone who shows blind trust in our new owners are being too easilly convinced. Don't get me me wrong, I support FSG, but cautiously. They still have more to do to win me over whole heartedly. I think BR was a good appointment - I will wait and see what they do with a few seasons transfers before I commit my full support to FSG.

Nick

Nick you are right but like you said you need to give them a few more transfer windows. people are saying that they have no money after 3 and a bit (and of them we have had two of the biggest windows in recent time). it just annoys me when people are slating them and telling them what they should do. do they go to their GP and tell them what medicine they need as well?
derryred

Funny you should say that DerryRed, maybe it's a sign of our times, as I am a doctor, and probably half of my patients tell me what they should have!
