ive seen the links with marcisio great player but if he signed i'm worried that he might be next aqualani?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Any reason other than him also being Italian?

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Marchisio would be much more suited to the premier league than Alberto was.
Marchisio is a real runner through the middle of the pitch and can bag a few goals.
I seriously doubt Marchisio will be a Liverpool player, though.

Agree0 Disagree0

The only reason we would sign a £25m CM is to replace Gerrard and I can't see that happening in January, nor can I see Suarez being sold before the summer as it would be suicidal to the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Alberto was and still is a class player.The consistent manager changes didn't help him, whilst he was out on loan. He played brilliantly when he actually was given a game. Amazing at opening up a defense, I was gutted he went. Instead we entrusted Adam with the job of opening defenses. (MORONIC). marchisio is an extremely good player.

Hi Eds, Small question. I saw we are after Salah and Hughes in January, I am happy with Salah, but hughes I am not able to understand logic behind it. I know he is tiuted as next Gerrard and all, but don't we already have Rossotier in our academy who is already playing for U21 at 16. Even if we bought Hughes he is going to be sitting on the bench mostly. Then we also have Allen, Henderson to play in same position and Gerrard is not retiring any time soon. So I don't get why we are after Hughes especially for the price being suggested. But I do feel we need a midfielder but for a different position that is CDM who can provide genuine competition for Lucas. It would be helpful if some one like Ed001 can shed light on thinking process of the club behind the motive to buy Hughes which I feel unnecessary as we got enough resources for that position already. {Ed001's Note - he is nothing like Gerrard, I have never even heard him being referenced as anything like him either. He does tend to play as an attacking midfielder, but he is more of a lightweight, looking for passes, player, who links the midfield with attack. I do agree that he is probably not a priority target, in my opinion, but sometimes you have to take good players when they become available. I feel that he would provide the cover for Coutinho we clearly lacked when he was out injured, that is what I see as the thinking behind the move.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If it was to happen ed, where would that leave Alberto? i'm still not sure why he was purchased, especially with Suso still on the books and rightly so. {Ed001's Note - I would think it would leave Alberto pushing further forward or dropping deeper. It really depends on the system we use, Chelsea have managed to find room for 3 similar players in their team, I see no reason why we could not do so for some games. Whatever happens, room has to be made for Suso to slot in, I would be gutted if we lost him!}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed001, can you see Suso leaving in January? {Ed001's Note - no, he is on loan for the season and playing well, they would love to sign him but Almeria simply can't afford him. I, for one, am thankful for that.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I rate Suso as well ed 1 but I think its good for him to get 1st team experience this season. But he will be some player for us next season, What is Suso best position? I know we used him out wide last season but for me he is not as effective there.

Agree0 Disagree0

This season in a poor side he's showing he can be affective there his reputation in Spain is growing. Remember David Silva & carzola started off on the wings in spain . I've also looked at the players around him for potential spain squads of the future & he's doing more at a younger age. The likes of illritymendy (spelt awfully) his break through season was last year aged 22 suso only recently became 20 & is doing equally as well if not better. Oliver Torres is barely getting a game I'd say it might be tough becausebarca Madrid or althletico might come in with a large maybe 15m+ bid & he might want to stay in spain

Agree0 Disagree0

For me if we sign Hughes it will have to be in the summer and it will also have to be at the expense of either Allen or Hendersn, which I can't see happening.

Otherwise if we sign him and keep everyone then it would be like throwing £15m down the drain yet again.

I think we should go for de bruyne
He could be another coutinho or sturridge

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I prefer that we go for Zlatan Ibrahimovic instead. He can go straight to the first team.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think his nose is to big for are team gudnoix ;0)

How accurate is Daily Star? Reporting Alonso is a Chelsea and Utd. target. Would not be happy. Alonso is a winner, technically outstanding and would be great for another few years. Unless FSG have another centre mid in the pipeline of that quality, I would say we've missed out on a player. {Ed002's Note - What has it to do with the owners? Are FSG picking the transfer targets now?}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Just the kind of person that reads the daily star right there.

Agree0 Disagree0

"How accurate is the Daily Star"?

LOL! It's about as close to the truth as the nearest star is to us. :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

How accurate is the Daily Star? Are you serious? How slow is Usain Bolt? Or how exemplary is Joey Barton?

LFC should go ALL OUT to sign Leighton Baines. He is awesome and just what we need. (and I think someone said on here once he's a Liverpool fan?)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We need to look to the future. Also overrated I think.

Agree0 Disagree0

Baines who was at fault for the 1st goal last night Baines who plays for ahhhh get a grip man.

Agree0 Disagree0

Baines is good but he will be so expensive for a position that we are not in dire need of improving.

Agree0 Disagree0

How old is Leighton Baines?

Agree0 Disagree0

28 me thinks

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah because we need a £17m left back right now at the tender age of 28?

we should use Brad Smith as second LB from next season he is physical enough and surely one of the fasted players we have at the club and Mclaughlin should be second RB as Flanagan like Robinson isn't good enough and Wisdom isn't a RB.

Agree0 Disagree0

IMO left back should be a position we are prioritising.
However, Leighton Baines is not what we need. He's an attacking full back who 'underlaps' his winger. For some reason some defenders find this difficult to deal with. He is also good at delivering set pieces.
I believe we need a full back who is good at defending. I know it's as rare as hen's teeth in the modern game, but that is what I think we need. As far as attacking left backs go, I think Enrique is adequate, but his defending is a big weakness.
