So it seems Rodgers prefers Lovren over Sakho, and considering they both play in the same position (lcb) where does this leave Sakho? I mean, we have already seen him storm out for not being selected and he clearly he isn't happy. In my opinion, he will leave in either January or at the end of the season unless Rodgers opts for a Lovren, Sakho partnership, which I really don't see happening considering Rodgers doesn't want Lovren playing on the right.

For me, this just highlights the fact that the club hasn't been working together with Rodgers when signing certain players. It is not as if Sakho is a youngster who can be told to wait for his chance, he's 24 and wants to be playing regularly.

It's about competition for places isn't it?
I'm sure Brendan would not leave Sakho out if he was out-performing Lovren. Can anyone actually say, with a straight face, that Sakho has looked like a solid defender this season or last? He's looked like a drunken giraffe on roller skates.
It's simple for me. If Sakho wants to play then he will have to knuckle down, sort his stroppy attitude out, work hard, improve his game and bloody well force Brendan to pick him.

Or he could just sit back on his fat wage and ask his agent to find him a new club in January.

{Ed002's Note - You need to read previous posts on the matter and look at the team selection. You need to look to #WonderDogSparky on Twitter and the events of August 25.}

Sorry Ed, I'm not on Twitter and never will be.
Seen team selections thanks, won't change my view that Sakho hasn't deserved to start.
As for other posts, there are many on selection, any one in particular?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - The whole Skho thing has been done to death.}

I still think it is our defensive tactics (or lack of).

Sakho and Lovren looked much better players before joining us, in my opinion. However having a hissy because your not selected is rather petulant!

Agree0 Disagree0

This has been evident for a while.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lovren is obviously first choice CB. Then it seems BR prefers Skrtel to Sakho, because the moment he was back fit he was in the starting 11.

Want to storm out?

Bye-bye - get rid!

He's crap anyway.

Nice way to support a Liverpool player Davey!

All this attention on Origi could lead to us being rather disappointed when he arrives, yes he is doing well for a 19 year old, 11 goals in 56 games for Lille.

Lukaku had 41 in 98 at the same age in anderlecht, okay its a less competitive league, we must take that into consideration.

No doubt in my mind Origi is a good player and has potential to be very good (note world class remarks) but i fear he may be over hyped and struggle to live up to expectations in his first season or two with us

{Ed002's Note - My only thought would be how is he going to be used?}

16 Oct 2014 12:38:19
I think we might see the incredibly unsuccessful "stick him on left wing" tactics deployed by every team when a young striker is coming through

Agree1 Disagree2

I agree. We are only buying potential at the moment, not the finished article. Let him continue at Lille for the rest of the season and see how he progresses then hopefully he will get a full pre season with Liverpool. Forget this nonsense of trying to get him in January.

I would imagine we would only attempt to bring him back from his loan in January if we managed to sell Borini. If that was the case then you would presume he would become the third choice striker after Sturridge and Mario. Whether that is the best thing for his own personal development is questionable. If Sturridge and Balotelli then went through the second half of the season without picking up any serious injuries or suspensions, how much game time is he really going to get? The odd 10-20 minutes off the bench for us, or consistent full 1st team football for Lille for a season? Whilst it would be good in theory to have him as an option on the bench, perhaps we should honour our agreement with Lille and let the lad play.

Ed002, I think he could be the perfect answer to our troubles at the back and could form a dynamic partnership with Lovren when he is back from injury :)

Sakho is definitely on his way out then Zed ;0)

It's one thing losing one of the best players in the world, its another thing losing the current England No 9 and its another other thing integrating several young players with no EPL experience into the squad, however I don't feel any of the previous is the main cause of the poor form we are suffering this year. We are all very quick to jump on the bandwagon of excuses, blame every man & their dog for poor form. In my eyes, its very simple, we have reverted from a winning formula which was the diamond, its clear that a wide deep 433 simply doesn't suit the players. It's awfully cautious, non-imaginative and doesn't allow people to join in the attack. We only have, at the minute Balotelli pressing, keeping the ball up and hanging off the last defender trying to create something which isn't his style what so ever. 1. He needs a partner, I personally would like to see Sterling up top with him at the minute. 2. We need to have more players supporting up top. If we do this, I think we are giving ourselves the best possible opportunity to succeed and score goals.

The 433 is the Brendan Rogers way

Look at all his former clubs and the tactics he used, 433

He changed it last season purely because he had Sturridge and Suarez in incredible form.

I think we'll continue to see the 433 and it could ultimately lose him his job

JLPred, Brendan is a young manager.

He's still learning the game and he will make mistakes on the way - but not many.

Don't assume that as a young manager he will continue to deploy the same tactic as you're wrong mate.

Very wrong.

Well Davey Pep Guardiola had won TWO champions leagues at Rodgers age managing Barcelona b Rodgers managed the mighty Swansea in the hardest league in the world this is where great mangers are made or the villas boas type are broken

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Vilas Boas is not a good example but it is fair to say the Pep G got an easy ride. Brendan Rodgers is growing in to it and, hopefully learning lessons. I would certainly not compare him to Pep G.}

Our manager dragged us to a lofty position in the league last season.

Remember, regardless of players at his disposal, you can never doubt that achievement.

I suggest we should all be grateful that we are playing the likes of your Real Madrid.

Agree0 Disagree1

Comparing BR to Pep is as pointless and fundamentally dishonest a comment as I have ever read on here.

You say Ilori was the choice of someone else and not Rodgers. Do you think the treatment of Ilori is possibly down to internal politics? I can't be right that Ilori comes in and practically back out on loan and again this season without even given a chance to establish himself. Is Rodgers digging his high heels in to maybe try and get a point across? Thanks in advance.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No I don't think so IR. Rodgers is not like that, or at least wasn't like that. He simply did not fit in to the plans Rodgers has. It is tough to see where the club will be with CB next season but continuity seems unlikely.}

Ed is right. The same can b said of Hendo when he refused tob shipped out to Fulham. BR gave him a chance to convince him and thank God, he did.

I take it the only way to turn it around as it seems now (with the situation of CBs at the club) would be a change of manager Ed002?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are not going to address any issue regarding CBs by changing manager.}

16 Oct 2014 15:04:23
Ed002, now I am not advocating a change of manager yet but surely if a new manager came in he may have the common sense to get in a really good defensive coach and also a really good goalkeeping coach as we are obviously lacking in both when you look at the form of the Defence and keeper last season and now into this season too.
Thoughts?

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - I think a lot of folks are still getting hung up over this "we need a defensive coach" scenario. What I believe is needed is someone experienced should independently review the coaching structure, coaching techniques and man-management approach within the club. On the basis of the results of that it should be much clearer to figure out what needs to be done to move forward. FSG should be pushing for this approach and acting on the results.}

We certainly don't seam to have found the balance and system yet to incorporate all the new players into that will bring the best results. i appreciate the need for competition for places but i don't quite understand the amount of players purchased for certain postitions and then loaned out. is this down in any part to the players wanted by br and those chosen by committee?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Aside from Origi it is, in my view, down to mismanagement and there being no other option.}

So, a coach for the coaching of the coaching staff?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Regularly independently reviewing the approach taken is something other clubs do. Given the predicament of Liverpool it can do little harm I would think.}

17 Oct 2014 14:09:59
I think it an excellent idea, but BR agree to it Ed002?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It would not be his decision.}

Thanks for the reply ed. i would thing an astute outfit like fsg will be looking into every aspect of the running of the club from youth set up to first team with a view to making it all work more effieciently
