Ed can I check something?

Supposing we don't win the Europa, City qualify for CL by finishing top 4 and we finish 8th.

Do we qualify for Europa next season by virtue of being losing finalists to City in the League Cup?

Thanks! :)

Believable0 Unbelievable7

{Ed002's Note - No.}

18 Apr 2016 07:58:00
If city qualify for Europe through the league ( which they will)
Then the league cup spot goes to 6th in the league.

18 Apr 2016 08:17:04
If West Ham/ United win the FA cup does the Europa league place go to next in the league or runners up?

{Ed002's Note - There is nothing for runners up.}

17 Apr 2016 22:03:54
Haven't seen today's game and there is no mention of his performance on here. My question is how did ward do in goals. There was a lot of talk on here about his potential and a lot of giving out when he didn't get a run in the team after his recall from Aberdeen. Cheers lads.

He was good. A few shaky moments on crosses, but most of them were borderline fouls. Showed good reflexes and a decent distribution. Most importantly, looked calm and collected, but it seemed to me that he showed some hesitancy in coming off his goalline - however, internet connection was freezing, so I couldn't get into the finer details.

17 Apr 2016 22:34:53
Was just about to post about Ward and then i saw this so perfect timing. I thought he did really well all in all, despite flapping at 2/ 3 balls into the box which on another day we might have been punished for.

Apart from those few crosses, he looked confident and assured all game and made a brilliant save to keep out Grabban's close range header which despite a lack of power, was right in the corner and had it gone in with 15 minutes to go i reckon they most likely would have equalised. I also thought his distribution was excellent all afternoon something we've not seen since Reina.

17 Apr 2016 23:01:46
I focused on award a lot during the game and I thought he was solid for his PL debut on the road. Calm, cool and had very good distribution. Had issues with a couple of crosses but handled the rest better. Made two finger tipped saves especially the one from Grabban which would have cost us the game had that one went in. Like he, Randall, Ojo, Stewart, Kolo, Ibe and Allen, were very good. Firmino, Lucas and and Smith looked unsure and rusty tho. All in all, solid performance by our boys and kids.

17 Apr 2016 23:02:15
Ward was awesome please God this is the start of something great for him.

17 Apr 2016 23:11:29
Thanks all. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻.

18 Apr 2016 00:00:45
I really liked the way his long kicks went roughly the direction he wanted them to go in. Lol
Needs a run of games for me, maybe use migs in the cup and ward in the league?

18 Apr 2016 02:27:17
I was following Ward's performance in goal closely - this was the first time I saw the lad play. I was quite impressed. What I really liked was his distribution. He distributed with great agility and speed, and looked very natural in releasing the ball very very quickly. Mignolet's reactions in the same mold look more forced and trained, and also slower.

I also liked his communication. He was egging people to take up space so he could distribute. He was confident about finding his man with kicks and throws.

He came and received a few crosses well as well to show good command of his area. The one place where he needs more work though, is collecting high crosses under pressure. Whenever there was somebody looking to barge into him while he was collecting the high ball, he looked nervous and uncomfortable. All in, though, I definitely like him a lot more than Bogdan.

There was nothing he could have done about the goal that went in.

18 Apr 2016 03:41:22
be good to see more of him, it's hard to cast a fair judgement either way from one start. I'm like everyone else, he looked solid. Although on the eye he doesn't cast the most imposing figure in the box. seems like he'd really need some springs in his calves, or superb positioning to beat attackers to crosses. but ye be good to see more of him.

17 Apr 2016 21:47:42
Here's my 2 pennies. Super result considering all the changes. Toure was solid. Sakho not so. Ward flapped but I see real promise there and he would make an excellent No 2. Lucas was shaky but everyone is allowed an off day. Stewart got better after a nervy start but will grow into the role. Allan is really making a statement lately but I'm not sure he will be here next season. If Smith got any further forward he'd be in another post code that will cost us more often than not, needs to learn when to go and when to stay. Would be a good understudy tho.

I thought Ojo was wasteful today especially in the second half. What especially ticked me off was that he was pedestrian with the ball and didn't attack the Cherries defence but I really do believe the lad has supreme talent and he will go on and become a superstar. He got a lot of the ball today but lacked composure and savvy which will come with experience. He could easily fight Anthony Joshua he's a beast.

I know everyone thought Ibe was good but I must have been watching a different game. He was mediocre although had assists. I hope he gets more chances to shine because I think he has lots of ability. The best bit about today was we seem to have an aura and an arrogance about us again even with 8 changes and this was personified by The Studge. He's looking ominous and he's got his swagger back. When Danny is in the mood things usually happen.

Young Divick has got a fight on his hands. Let me end with Bobby this fella is so enigmatic. You can't figure him out you think he's having a stinker and he'll get you a goal. Lovely habit to have. Roll on the derby.

Believable3 Unbelievable10

17 Apr 2016 22:00:05
I thought Ojo was one of are best players tonight he had his full back on toast today and there full back been good for them this season. I like to see a bit more of him but he Could save us some money.

17 Apr 2016 23:08:24
Ojo and Ibe will save us a boatload of cash if they can figure it out. Agree on Smith and Ojo although I thought Ojo had some flashes. As for Studge, he had to play well because he has Divvy breathing down his neck and Klopp does do reputations very well so hope he'll use it to improve. Firmino bar the goal, had a stinker.

18 Apr 2016 00:48:57
Firmino wasn't sharp but I watched the game back and the amount of space he created and the run he made to the back post for the goal was all about wanting it, the amount of tap ins shows how well he reads the game and the lad has skill I really think we have a true talent. Dan was great to watch today showed energy and some wonderful footwork, lovely goal and assist well played, great to see young players out there iam positive they have a big future. really touching start to the game and the singing matched a lovely tribute.

18 Apr 2016 01:34:46
Flowing, you are talking to a staunch Firmino fan, here. I agree that he has good movement and his ability is not in doubt. I just feel like his passing was wayward and he didn't play as normal which is fine as he's just returning from injury.

18 Apr 2016 02:10:41
Agree mate with the passing, I just love to see a player not giving up on a run to the back post, I can live with wayward passing from anyone as long as they put some effort in.

18 Apr 2016 08:17:00
Sakho was on for about 15 mins and made a number of decent tackles and a goalline clearance, what wasn't solid about him?

17 Apr 2016 21:20:31
Pako doing rightly at Valencia! Great to see.

17 Apr 2016 23:09:12
Destroyed Barcelona today and I'm happy for him and of course, Real Madrid.

17 Apr 2016 20:37:25
Everton midweek, do you reckon they will put out a weakened side? Would you if the roles were reversed, me not a chance. But I imagine Everton may.

Believable1 Unbelievable7

17 Apr 2016 20:47:57
They only have one good player anyway don't they? We will have all the big boys back ;)

17 Apr 2016 20:53:18
would Martinez dare do that fencey, this is the biggest week in his everton career if he gets it wrong ie loses both the derby and the cup semi-final he will be a dead man walking, the banners are already out calling for his dismissal.

17 Apr 2016 21:01:04
If he loses the Derby but wins the FA cup they'd name a stand after him.

17 Apr 2016 21:23:55
Everton benched a few yesterday. I think they will rest a few again midweek.

17 Apr 2016 21:25:27
You mean Everton can get weaker?

17 Apr 2016 21:57:36
I'm not just saying this because I'm a Liverpool fan but I think it we go out and play at are best we can get 4 or 5 against them.

17 Apr 2016 21:57:50
I think he's a dead man walking regardless.

18 Apr 2016 01:02:46
Martinez is nothing but a crap manager, crap motivator and a poor excuse for a tactician whose reams could never stop a nose bleed defensively, always has been. He is doing the very same thing he did to Wigan as in, made them get worse by the year till they got relegated and then dumped them. He has actually made Everton worse than they actually are which is a feat in itself. He only gets a pass because he's a media darling, very fluid, talks a whole lot BUT says a whole lot of nothing. It's a shame because Everton have some pretty good players and such a club rich in history and tradition, don't deserve the abject incompetence of such a woeful manager.

17 Apr 2016 19:56:29
Eddie Howe will be sitting at home now saying I played me best team today.

Believable2 Unbelievable7

17 Apr 2016 21:30:32
Or I played THE best team today.

18 Apr 2016 01:03:48
If his first team couldn't beat a Liverpool third team then he really should be disappointed.

17 Apr 2016 19:33:50
Given that a lot of people have been clamoring for a winger all season long (i have been one of them, by the way), and seeing Ibe's and Ojo's performance today, I'm beginning to wonder if we really need a new one for next season? This is a question for the Eds and fellow fans on here. Is it worthwhile, and a prudent risk, to give Ibe, Ojo and Markovic specialized and intensive "training" over the summer, and hope that one will improve enough to become a regular starter during the season? For me, the upside looks better than the downside. I'd much rather promote players from within, if possible, than go out and buy every time. And it takes time to adjust to a new team and a league, whether you are a youngster or an experienced player. I was impressed enough today by both Ibe and Ojo, and I think Markovic has a point to prove back at LFC. And then there are Klopp's motivational powers. What do you all think?

Believable9 Unbelievable8

17 Apr 2016 20:07:41
Depends who's available.
If a top notch, match winning winger comes along and wants to join us then go for him.
Failing that then the 3 you mentioned can be used.
I don't want to see us buy a mediocre player just to fill a gap like we always seem to do and block the development of what we have at the club, while at the same time doing little to improve the first team.
I'm not sure if markovic wants to come back or if Ibe wants to stay though so a lot would depend on that as well.
Whatever we do it's important to give Ojo enough opportunitys to develop because he looks special.

17 Apr 2016 20:13:41
Marko, ibe and ojo will all be better after experience of this season for different reasons.

Ojo because he will want more. I've because he will want to stop sitting on the bench and Marko to hopefully find himself under klopp and prove his worth.

Save the money and whack it on a gk, lb and cm. Sell the ones klop wants rid of and go with that. We have just dine Dortmund at full srengjt whilst we were missing a few and also if wr had a better keeper, lb and cm we would of smashed them even morem.

17 Apr 2016 20:24:13
1985mikey1985 - I think Ibe is just being a petulant little twit, and Klopp can easily sort his head out by sitting him down and talking some sense into him. If Ibe is smart, he'll see and understand he's definitely not the next "Sterling" and he needs to create his own path. Liverpool is on upward trend now, and it's in his interest to be part of it. Both Markovic and Ibe strike me as the typical youngsters who sulk, because they don't feel "needed and loved". Something Klopp can easily fix.

17 Apr 2016 20:50:02
Ojo yes, the two others at the moment not good enough. in addition to other things they lack, we desperatly need players who can score. Ibe hardly scored this season and markovich in 14 league games in Turkey this season scored zero goals. We will also have Grujic. If there is a winger that can score 8-10 goals a season and assist 5-8, or the other way around, it is worth consdering. I would also look at the defensive skills.

17 Apr 2016 20:26:08
Break the bank and get Lorenzo Insigne. He will be the difference where we finished next season.
Set piece specialist
Skillful
Dribbler
Pace
Finish
Goals and assists.

18 Apr 2016 02:32:30
Ojo, Ibe, Markovic all have great talent and potential for sure. However, if we need to compete at the highest level, we need to get reliable class into the team.
I doubt either of the three we have will be consistent.

17 Apr 2016 19:29:34
Reds and Eds, if you have to a choice to begin next season with Lucas or Allen as a impact sub which one would u choose. I love Lucas as a player but i feel he doesn't have the legs to keep up with pacey players. He is very good in reading the game, where as Allen is good in breaking up the play and move the ball up the field. I know they play at different position, Lucas is more of a DM or makeshift CB and Allen more of a B2B. But we already have Hendo and Can as Our 2 B2B and we don't play a DM most of the time. My choice will be Allen as he bring something different to the team, specially if you want to jam up the midfield. Will miss Lucas as he's a great person but for the better of the team i will have someone who is a bit defence minded and can keep up with fast players, hope Gurjic is that player.

Believable2 Unbelievable6

{Ed001's Note - Allen is terrible at breaking up the play as he tends to drift out of position chasing forward and doesn't have the legs to get back. There is no question Lucas is a better player and can play in defence, he would get my vote 20 times out of 10.}

17 Apr 2016 19:56:51
Lucas for sure. Allen is in good form, but Lucas has the experience, he can play as a makeshift CB and his positioning is much better. He doesn't have the legs, but as others have shown, you don't need to be fast if you have a good read on the game.

I do think it is sadly time for Allen to leave though. We have too many centre mids with the emergence of talent such as Steweart, Chirivella etc. so it's time for the youth to stake a claim and Allen to go somewhere where he can be starting every week.

17 Apr 2016 21:03:07
From what I saw, Allen broke the play up well today.

17 Apr 2016 21:09:08
i thought allen did really well breaking up play today. he reads the game really well. but that was due to not getting forward as much like you said, but atleast he's more than capable getting forward. he's still young. It would be foolish to get rid unless there is absolutely no room for him.

I would actually try both in midfield for europa now that hendo and can are injured. both are great at breaking up play. stewart doesn't have the experience yet and will buckle under the pressure and milner is not a good choice ethier.

I think lucas will be the one that paves way with the new signings coming in. I think allen will be assessed for another season.

17 Apr 2016 21:19:47
with allens form of late if he keeps to that level I think it will be impossible to let him go really. ( my god am I really sticking up for joe allen) he seems to be now the midfielder we hoped he was when we bought him. don't think you could better him for the money at the moment both him an lucas professional enough to sit on bench until needed without kicking up a fuss. keep em both.

17 Apr 2016 21:51:56
Depends on the opponents and the players starting for me. If the team we set out is already playing with very offensive based midfield i'd have Lucas on the bench. If the centre mids starting are defensive and/ or slow to close down, press and moves the ball without intensity then i'd have Allen on the bench.

its not a case of black and white we need the whole squad. Although improving on what we have in the starting 11 is the most important thing to focus on now, not getting ride of valued squad members.

17 Apr 2016 20:02:59
Allen doesn't break up play, He keeps the ball is a master if short passing. We need to bring in one top quality CDM as we don't have one with us. ( Can and Henderson ain't )

17 Apr 2016 23:58:19
I don't think either are good enough in all honesty. If you could get a place solely because of commitment then Lucas would have his squad place all day long but against better or quicker opposition he struggles to cope and disappears. Allen although has had 3-4 good games recently just isn't enough to make me forget the past 3+ yrs.

18 Apr 2016 02:53:35
For me Lucas would slot in as one of 4 center backs. I would keep Allen ad well. He is very useful. And yes my cbs for next season would be Matip sakho lovren and lucas.

17 Apr 2016 18:26:24
Good match and great win. Consistency is the key and we are getting there.

Lol. Klopp blasted that journalist in post match conference. That guy kept on asking abt Sturridge and Klopp finally said you and me are from different planets!

Believable6 Unbelievable10

17 Apr 2016 19:02:30
All reporters just keep on about sturridge cause he's English and euros are coming. klopp should get used to it the English press will do his head in like they do mine.

18 Apr 2016 01:14:58
Klopp should get used to nothing at all. The journo was being a complete ass and Klopp was right to give him a dress down. The team just got a solid team win on the road yet all the pathetic media wants to talk about is how Studge did. Memo to media: Klopp will not pander to you nor answer stupid questions nor big up a player just because you asked. Klopp doesn't conform and doesn't have to adhere to stupid English media practices. The journo got exactly what he deserved and I'm fine with it.

17 Apr 2016 18:23:02
I said before the game that I'd like to see Ibe back in. So I'm pleased he had a good game. Played a big role in both goals.

Don't get the Ojo and Stewart hate though (seen posts about over hyped and greedy) . I'm sure we just made 10 changes and won 1-2 away from home against a team who've been solid this season. Stewart, Randall, Ward, Ojo, Smith and even Ibe and Origi are inexperienced at this level. Yet we rolled Bournemouth over with ease and only conceded due to uncharacteristically weak defending from Lucas.

Let's just enjoy it. Next 3 league games are very winnable. We could well be in contention for 4th place in 2 weeks time when you factor in the game in hand and Arsenal/ Man U's form. Bring on the toffees :)

Believable13 Unbelievable12

17 Apr 2016 19:31:58
I really don't know what fans expect from players. May be need a fifa 2016 team with Pogba and Vidal in the midfield messi and Neymar on the wings.

17 Apr 2016 18:05:59
We've got an 'Edge' about us now. A summer transfer window and a good pre-season and we could be a threat next season.

Believable9 Unbelievable7

17 Apr 2016 19:42:05
JohnEmily, we could be a threat next season should read, we WILL be a threat next season.

17 Apr 2016 20:10:11
I am just enjoying the week . It's been a good one except for the can injury . Enjoy it as things looks brighter for us.

17 Apr 2016 17:01:15
Ed002, you said a little while back that Klopp needs to adjust his tactics to improve. Do you think he's done this well and what do you think of our progress as a whole since his arrival?

Believable4 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - I haven't seen the game today but I watched a brief summary of the game against Dortmund and he is getting results - and by all accounts that I read here, is adapting his tactics. So there has been an improvement, he has a better win percentage than Roy Hodgson now and it all bodes well for the future. Assuming he makes some decent additions in the summer and clears the deck a bit, Liverpool should be well placed going in to next season - possibly with the Champions League to look forward to.}

17 Apr 2016 17:28:42
Thanks ed! Making me excited for next season now;)

17 Apr 2016 19:38:13
I really feel we are moving the right direction, just feel that we take some teams for granted and why we lost to teams in tje bottom half of the table or we are not physically built to bully oppositions defense or attack. My major issue is the lack of a defence minded player in you midfield to do all the dirty job and start your attack. Can can do so can hendo but still they are not Makelele. that's why i'm so pleased with the emergence of Steward.

17 Apr 2016 20:03:55
I was just about to ask you the same question Ed so thanks for your reply.

18 Apr 2016 01:19:00
Ed may be right as vs BVB in both games, we knew when to press and when to drop off which helped conserve energy and confused the heck out of Dortmund.

17 Apr 2016 16:58:18
Eds, what would you say is the difference between a fan and a supporter?
Thanks.

Believable1 Unbelievable7

{Ed002's Note - The word "fan" derives from the word "fanatic" which would be someone who could be described as zealously keen on their team (e.g. Liverpool, Everton, Third Lanark), a particular player (e.g. Ronaldo and Messi will no doubt have "fan" clubs) or perhaps the singer from a beat music combo such as the Beatles, Cliff Richard or, favorites of mine, the Frumious Bandersnatch.

Supporters tend to be much more calm and cheerful people (not like the vein-popping, eye-bulging, tattooed, bonehead fans whose ugly slobbering faces are pressed against the windows of the opposition coaches). They often have nice cream heavy-knit jumpers and own lilac-colored labradoodles that they are teaching to talk. They often carry very small combs that they use to groom their mustaches.}

17 Apr 2016 17:29:13
Thanks a lot ed!

17 Apr 2016 19:03:54
I take objection to your scurrilous portrayal of supporters and I'd give you a detailed rebuttal only I've to find my moustache comb and walk my two labradoodles Mozart and Strauss. Now where did I put my Aran jumper.

17 Apr 2016 20:05:53
I have plenty if you need one Irish.

17 Apr 2016 20:21:19
Ah Frumious Bandersnatch causing many "hearts to cry", nice obscurity there Ed.

17 Apr 2016 20:34:50
I'd love to be a supporter, but I don't have a 'tache :-/.

{Ed002's Note - You can draw one on until you are old enough to grow one.}

18 Apr 2016 01:15:36
I bought a lovely dark red knitted sweater from TopMan in Times Square a couple of months back, I think I can now proudly register as an official Liverpool supporter.

{Ed007's Note - Top Man's a bit upmarket for a Liverpool supporter! Do you know that Ed001 NEVER leaves the house without something Liverpool related? I spent 3 days with him and he had a different Liverpool top or t-shirt on everytime we met up to go somewhere - even a WWE event! There's pics of him at weddings with a Liverpool tie the lot. Don't listen to him if he says he's done some modelling of the gear.}

18 Apr 2016 02:12:33
Nah I'd believe him, he probably did some Father's Day catalogue modelling.

{Ed001's Note - don't listen to Ed007 he is just jealous of my youthful stunning good looks. Old people get bitter like that.}

17 Apr 2016 22:58:50
Unfortunately Ed, the only chance I have of growing a tache is in about 30 years time on HRT. pfft who wants to be a supporter anyway.

18 Apr 2016 01:20:58
He has played well of late. Does that mean we keep him. That's another issue.

17 Apr 2016 15:03:46
Hi EDs

Any idea why Klopp isn't give Flano any game time. He hasn't played for while. Example is today's game, he started with Randal over Flano.

Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - because he is still working his way back to his best. He was struggling so he is taken out of the firing line to work on his game.}

17 Apr 2016 15:44:55
Good display today, not perfect but considering the changes excellent! Sturridge gets closer to his best every time, well taken header, hit the wood work twice but should really score the first. Ojo looked dangerous as did ibe.
Similar to the Southampton game, I felt we had to add another centre mid to sure us up, gave away another late goal, Allen looked a bit leggy and I just felt Milner in there would have just helped keep it tight.
Glad ward got a chance, didn't do much wrong, fumbled a couple but dealt with it!
Smith did well enough, I felt he was a little too keen at times, ibe had isolate the full back but smith was there too, taking up space rather than making it.
Overall, happy we won, and created chances, but did look shakey at the back a little!

Believable9 Unbelievable6

17 Apr 2016 16:09:39
Fencey I agree with your assessment. Centre mid remained a problem. Weak and shakey offering little cover. Excellent performance though considering the changes. I've heard people calling Ojo's performance, calling him selfish. He looked quite assured imo. Ibe put in a good performance which will hopefully add a bit of much needed confidence. A good 3 points and we're in touch of Utd's 5th place and European football again next season guaranteed which would be great. I don't get these fans saying they don't want Europa lg, surely any European football is good for the club. Win our game in hand and we're only 2 points off.

17 Apr 2016 16:19:04
Agreed Fencey, especially about Smith being too keen. Though actually that made me kinda dislike him. He was way too forward in the game. He's young, so hope he'll improve.

17 Apr 2016 16:54:02
Sturridge is involved in a lot of the goals at the moment. His back heel that teed up the Firmino goal was quality. Fingers crossed he gets back to his best.

17 Apr 2016 18:41:06
To be very honest studge is the forward so he has to be involved. But i still feel he's not been that great. He had enough chances to kill them off completly but was taking the wrong option most of the time. He took the header brillantly to be fair. But missed few golden oppurtunity. The shot which hit the post was a great effort, still i do expect more from our best striker.

18 Apr 2016 01:42:42
Lets face it some fans will never be happy with dan, I thought he played really well, love to see him play well for the remaining games and I like many out there who see dans quality iam glad he plays for us.

17 Apr 2016 15:36:53
What a great week, looking forward to watching the game and seeing how Ward played! is Skrtel injured r is he just on d way out?

Believable2 Unbelievable6

17 Apr 2016 16:06:12
Guess he's out the door mate!

17 Apr 2016 16:57:16
On his way out mate. Skrtel has always been a weaklink in our backline, and i'm just happy Klopp recognized that.

17 Apr 2016 18:43:17
Same here . the first decent manager we got and he knew that skrtel is the weakest link. Next year with Matic coming we don't need Skrtel. 3 senior CB with a young/ academy CB should be good.

17 Apr 2016 19:47:06
don't forget Joe Gomez as well.

18 Apr 2016 01:25:33
He brought Skrtel back vs Southampton and gave away a penalty within five minutes and had a stinker, as well as giving away a stupid foul that cost the free kick that cost us a goal vs Stoke. Safe to say that he won't be here next season as Sahko, Lovren and Matip are better than him.

17 Apr 2016 15:25:03
Why the hype for Stewart? I'm not saying he's poor or anything but all you lot go on about him like he's the next Pirlo.

Cue the disagrees from the "knowledgeable".

Believable7 Unbelievable10

17 Apr 2016 15:39:57
Nobody expected him to be the next Pirlo. He is a CDM who does a decent job of protecting the back 4. He has played well whenever being called upon, and his performances have been solid but unspectacular. Good squad player to have and saved us spending 10 million or so on an outsider.

17 Apr 2016 15:44:59
I just hit disagree.

I'm not particularly knowledgeable (vs the next guy) . I hit disagree as it would seem you're knocking our fans for getting excited about a young player that has potential. I also disagree with your 'like he's the next Pirlo' comment.

Who do you support mate? ;-)

17 Apr 2016 15:55:55
How do you know he won't be?

17 Apr 2016 15:58:37
Personally I hope he isn't the next Pirlo, as I always thought he was overrated and very much a 1 trick pony.

17 Apr 2016 16:07:26
Nothing like the same player as Pirlo, never will be, he's probably tackled more players than Pirlo has ever. He's big and strong, Pirlo isn't, he's not in that mould at all.

17 Apr 2016 16:10:30
I think the OP's point was to justify what he brings to the team and not how he compares to pirlo in every facet of his play.

17 Apr 2016 17:16:02
Not agreeing or disagreeing, rarely do unless I truly think the deserves it.
He is a young player and maybe we should let him get a few games in the first team before we start making comparisons, he has potential but CDM's, DM's and CM's don't peak until around the age of 25 - 30's generally.
I think he has earned the chance of first team action, not every game but bring him in to it more to see how it goes.

17 Apr 2016 16:13:39
Why post in a hostile manner purposely? Why not just state whatever you think about Stewart which is so far nothing and then ask for others thoughts on the matter in the hope to get different insights on the player?
Personally I don't see Stewart as a long term first team player but as a fellow poster said someone that can do what he does and act as a squad player could cost 10 mill +, with probably much higher wages. And while he may not be the youngest breaking into the team but he is still inexperienced at this level and has the potential to better himself and possibly be a main stay in our team. All in all I'd much rather have him than not at this moment in time.

17 Apr 2016 16:44:14
Recycling possession effecintly, at least great before injury. Just getting use to prem and back up to speed I think.

He used the ball very well after making tackle after tackle and always encourages the ball forward instead of backwards and side to aidem.

Don't recall any poster falling him the next pirlo, or any other player apart from maybe coquelin (in terms of the job he does for arsenal)

He's just a good player and hopefully a mainstay in the team, that is all.

17 Apr 2016 16:45:39
Porto didn't need to tackle because he never gave it away lol.

17 Apr 2016 15:40:27
How was he Pirlo in the first place and no one compares him to be. He is a brilliant DM, good on the ball and read the game very well. Two attributes missing from some of our top flight midfielders.

17 Apr 2016 19:09:25
Problem with some people just can't be happy with what they see Ibe had a decent game today. I thought he was okay when half the people on here slagged him off. Ojo looked good and stewart looked okay. Granted he's played better in other games but these are kids breaking through with not much real prem experience. I can't stand when people have a go. Like a few people saying Ojo was selfish, he played fine they aren't going to make the right choice of pass or shot every single time. Just get behind the team and support them. Fair enough they won't always play amazing but no need to just bash them.

17 Apr 2016 22:16:22
agreed they all played there part in a Liverpool victory which means we will be fresh for the derby, well played to all involved today. The more they play the better they will get. Klopp trusts them we should do the same.

17 Apr 2016 15:25:03
Why the hype for Stewart? I'm not saying he's poor or anything but all you lot go on about him like he's the next Pirlo.

17 Apr 2016 23:54:19
Against Stoke, I thought he was quite shaky at the start, was caught out of position number of times and turned over ball easily. But he didn't let that shake him and grew into the match. I really like the way that his head is constantly swivelling so he knows where everyone is. I can't see him being the next Pirlo but I can see him growing into a very competent player if he continues at the rate he is.

17 Apr 2016 15:16:20
Not sure if it's inexperience or something like that but Ojo seems really selfish.

Believable1 Unbelievable10

17 Apr 2016 15:45:13
Only his 2nd start, totally inexperienced.

17 Apr 2016 15:56:56
He will just be eager to impress, given time and coaching he will learn and improve.

17 Apr 2016 16:09:30
Selfish? I'd rather him run at players and shoot, than just pass it backwards. Takes confidence to make it to the top, and if he starts like this, he can progress well. Two league starts, and in my opinion has done well, created one and caused problems today, why bother slating him now?

17 Apr 2016 16:18:10
Ronaldo used to get criticised for being selfish.

17 Apr 2016 17:17:05
Bobcat, I am with you on that - I would be the same in his shoes.

17 Apr 2016 19:10:45
At least he's not just getting the ball and passing it back. Ojo played well today i thought. He won't always play the right pass due to his age and choosing maybe not the best option. But sure he will grow in time!

18 Apr 2016 01:17:14
People used to say the same about Sturridge too.

17 Apr 2016 14:37:18
Jordan Ibe's crosses and set pieces have been exceptional today. An area we often lack quality.

Ward is playing v well too.

17 Apr 2016 13:23:27
Sorry it was supposed to say hopefully Allen gets a work permit.

17 Apr 2016 13:23:27
Sorry it was supposed to say hopefully Allen gets a work permit.

17 Apr 2016 14:30:16
Sorry deanalfie, I slightly misread the original post, it would be fantastic if Allan ( and Awoniyi ) get Work Permits though it doesn't look hopeful based on the Home Office website.

17 Apr 2016 12:38:28
Seriously hoping Ibe has a blinder today to silence these fickle fans jumping on his back.
The same fans that have forgotten they wanted Joe Allen out after that Merseyside derby but now praise him as the Lord and savior of Liverpool.

17 Apr 2016 12:47:51
He looked kind of uninterested tbh you can tell when a player has fire in their belly and wants to do great things. He looks like he's had too many rennies and put the fire out.

Hope he has a great game too.

17 Apr 2016 12:51:12
ibeyyyy. going to be a thrashing today. no milner or lallana. allen gets a game and ibe, ojo, sturridge and firmino start together. should be fun. just hope ibe, ojo and firmino are all up for it.

17 Apr 2016 12:33:23
Team confirmed as some posters have said - well done.
A lot of youth but enough experience and talent in there.
Says a lot with Lucas over skrtel, maybe his last game has been played.
Wonder why Flanagan is not in over Randall, nothing against Randall but flan hasn't played in a while.
Hope ibe has a good game, and ojo and Stewart too.

17 Apr 2016 12:26:59
Hey mate, search google for firstrowsports.eu

17 Apr 2016 12:29:20
Try eplsite.com.

17 Apr 2016 12:30:34
Eplsite is good, just wait for ads to close, and shut any screen that opens except when you click the link.

17 Apr 2016 12:46:10
Download the app Mobdro. has all sports channels. only works on androids though.

17 Apr 2016 15:42:19
Don't know why the down votes. Apps like modbro are 100x better than sites these days.

17 Apr 2016 12:17:56
Any websites or streams to watch today's match on lads?

Hey ed, will he be available for Villareal?

{Ed001's Note - Thursday night games are fine, as Friday is the weekend here, so he comes over after work Thursday. It is late by the time they kick off here, so that is not an issue don't worry.}

17 Apr 2016 12:32:12
Kidnapp him Ed.

{Ed001's Note - good idea. Though it wouldn't do any good today as I would never get to Abu Dhabi and back before the match.}

17 Apr 2016 11:20:53
The match against Dortmund was fantastic and it will be one to go down in the list of great Anfield European nights.

It was a fitting tribute to the 96.

The whole LFC family or country as Sakho called it came together as one. It was made even better by Dortmund and their supporters.

One of the qualities that was shown in abundance was respect. Klopp was magnificent in setting the tone before during and after the match.

We need to continue that on this site. We have had morons trying to spoil things for the majority by showing disrespect to the Eds and to other posters. We all have the right to disagree and to have our own opinions but at the same time we have an obligation to accept and respect the views and comments and information provided by the Eds and othe posters.

It looks as though ed002 has given up on the Arsensl page. I don't know why but I can guess. There are some great posters on the Arsenal page and for them to miss out on the great information and insight that the Eds can provide is really disappointing.

Let's all take a moment just to remember how brilliant LFC is and that we are really lucky to be part of it and that this page adds to our enjoyment and that it would be so much poorer without the input from our fantastic Eds.

Type in Ronaldo7 Liverpool, and then one of the top links will say Bournemouth Vs Liverpool, go on that and then if you scroll down there is a load of links, the best are the Ustream ones, click on one of them and you're set for the game.

17 Apr 2016 11:00:37
Hi Borrusia

Ok I will give it a go, will I need to put card details in?

Also do I need a ad blocker app?

Thanks for your help

Kemlyn.

17 Apr 2016 11:30:39
Failing that (which I might try today) firstrow sports is great if you don't go on their homepage which has been blocked, just go on the football tab and click any link for the stream except link 1. The first ones are usually English.

17 Apr 2016 11:41:17
Google 'best football streaming sites'. You'll get them all. Never pay for anything. Never give card details.

17 Apr 2016 11:49:25

I use frist row sports app or myp2p no card details needed or ad blocker if ypur willing to x out of them for myp2p wait a few secs till the x appears on the login request and you get a list of links for all sports. If you have an androud phone download mobdro from google to watch tv live on your phone.

In regards to an earlier post.
From the very little I know, and I'd hate to compromise their position; you'll don't know how lucky you are to have 002
Obviously I do the podcasts, and I've spoke to 002s people, this guy it to be very well respected.
There's no need to guess who they were or what gender they are, just be appreciative, trust me!?
Football changes in seconds so they're not always spot on, but you guys don't know how good you've got it. A European power house of knowledge, trust me.
Ed002 and 001 make this site, as well as all the others, sure, I'd love to be an editor, and I've asked; but I just don't have the connections these boys do. Please stop the abusive posts, 002 knows all and the grass isn't always greener.
A conclusion; you just have to trust me, such a position 002 holds it can't be revealed, but ask him questions, question his beliefs, but never, ever abuse him. : her.

17 Apr 2016 06:34:23
Benny, I thought that quessing about the international man of mystery, (or woman) was just a bit of fun. Anyone with half a brain appreciates having ed002 on this site, it is a lot better since he became a regular. We don't get to see most of the rubbish (this included) that gets posted but having read some of ed002 tongue lashings over the years, I'm sure he's big enough to handle it. Keep up the good work. Cheers.

17 Apr 2016 09:25:25
Well said Benny, and I know any fan who reads this site will know just how much more real and honest it is than 99.9% of the click bait garbage that floods the internet.
I remember the dark days of 'Aguero seen at JL airport this morning', and all the rest of the rubbish that liars and fantasists posted here by the hour.
Back then basically nothing could be trusted unless it was written by Ed001 himself.
With Ed002 we are privy to some of the knowledge of a genuine football expert with access to contacts and information that most people- even in the football industry- can only dream of.
Thats why this site is so unique and so important to fans, and it is why poisonous internet trolls should never be allowed to abuse or harass these people, who are giving their time and efforts to share sensitive and (to us) valuable information.
Fantastic job and massive thanks to all the Eds, and especially to numero dos.

17 Apr 2016 10:06:14
As bigsteve says Benny, my post was only meant as a bit of fun.

The reason I have visited this site for the last 5/ 6 years daily is because of the brilliant information the Ed's supply!

I know there are trolls who give them s**t but unfortunately that's the way the world is right now, but my post was just for a bit of a laugh and tried to make it clear during the post that that's all it was.

Here's to 3 points today!

YNWA.

17 Apr 2016 10:39:49
Smp and Steve, I didn't mean your posts were abusive lads! It's all the other stuff where people just try to argue with her. I can only imagine the stuff that doesn't get posted!

17 Apr 2016 10:59:58
Always thought ed002 was a top lawyer for FIFA or something.
Maybe specialising in transfers?
His knowledge of transfers is ridiculous, he has an encyclopaedic knowledge of even the most obscure players that are on the radars of any club.
Great sense of humour as well, although he does fall victim of the famous scouse humour from time to time. :)

17 Apr 2016 05:33:57
Ed01 is class, met him personally. Ed02 is up next. Ha ha.

17 Apr 2016 01:11:27
Hi ed
I was just wondering whether Fernando Torres could be a viable option providing we shift a few strikers. He is out of contract at the end of the season and I would love to see us go for him and it looks like he still has some left in the tank.

Believable2 Unbelievable22

{Ed002's Note - Give me a break.}

Fernando torres? What about suarez?

17 Apr 2016 06:09:34
Pmsl god you all want a medal Eds.

17 Apr 2016 10:16:10
Michael Owen has had a while without an injury maybe he can be a viable option?

17 Apr 2016 00:02:09
I don't know why the Dortmund players were so down after the game. According to the papers, us winning means they still have a chance at European football next season!

Believable2 Unbelievable12

17 Apr 2016 09:42:58
I am not sure what you mean that they still have a chance of European football. They will be in the Champions League whereas we aren't assured of any European football yet.

16 Apr 2016 23:38:51
As anyone seen the pic of origi going round? Side by side pic of himself now and at start of season. Remarkable shows the effort he put in to bulk up. Looks bigger than benteke.

Believable7 Unbelievable8

17 Apr 2016 04:04:57
And the main thing is he can still shift.

From everyone pointing out how he was picked in the the French worst squad of the the season last year to now, what an improvement.

Shows what a bit of confidence can do.

17 Apr 2016 08:48:28
Exactly what I meant when trying to explain big doesn't mean big lump that can't move.

17 Apr 2016 10:17:58
Klopp said he put on over 5 kilos when he was injured, all muscle. He's still rapid, and agile, but have the strength he has with it is a great attribute.

17 Apr 2016 11:38:42
Surely he has to be pushing to be a starter for Belgium on current form, Origi, Lukaku, De Bruyne, Hazard, Naingolan, Dembele, Witsel would be my attacking options with one of these players sacrificed for each game. Players like Mertens and Carrasco coming off the bench, hope I haven't missed anyone important.

16 Apr 2016 22:59:09
Just wanted to say what a player we have in Emre Can, looking back at his performance vs dortmund and he really stepped up. He is a huge loss in midfield and I think he has and will become one of our most important players.

Brendan Rodgers take a bow.

Believable9 Unbelievable13

17 Apr 2016 00:40:50
The same Brendan who blamed the transfer committee for the recruitment and also implied there was only so much that could be done with an average squad? And then played Can at CB or RB.

I'm not sure Rogers was solely responsible for Can.

17 Apr 2016 02:04:24
Rodgers did decide his best position was centre back.

17 Apr 2016 01:18:44
Rodgers played Can at CB. Klopp deserves most credit simply by playing Can in his most suitable position Not rocket science I agree with you that Can is a good young player.

17 Apr 2016 02:03:11
Rodgers didn't have a say in transfers according to him.

17 Apr 2016 08:21:08
I can remember Can getting panned on here last season! Guy is a future great. So much work unjustified in what he does.

17 Apr 2016 09:50:01
To be fair to Rodgers he wanted to play a posession based play (which was crap and boring) but he hadn't really had players bought for that style.

They were bought for a hugh press counter system, as we play now.

17 Apr 2016 10:19:01
Maybe playing there helped in the long run, he uses his strength more now, and covers well. Maybe because he remembers when no one used to cover for him.

17 Apr 2016 10:21:15
Move on guys, life's too short.

17 Apr 2016 08:34:30
Rodgers would have ruined the lad. Klopp is letting the lad develop in is preferred midfield role. Brendan was all about self image and trophy girlfriends. Klopp has a desire you can breathe, just like the great Bill Shankley.
