Eds please tell me Shane long not a target.

{Ed007's Note - Sounds like a 'Long' shot to me...

18 Jan 2016 00:20:47
Seriously if this is the best that our so called scouting team can come up with they should all be sackrd. He's a donkey and nowhere near the quality we should be looking for.

18 Jan 2016 00:34:04
I prefer we bought no one than buy another average player.

18 Jan 2016 00:54:30
How I "Long" for a time when Liverpool stops pursuing players, especially strikers, who are simply not good enough.

Carroll. Lambert. Balotelli. Benteke.

No to: Vardy, Saido, Long, and many others to whom we're being linked.

17 Jan 2016 23:02:31
I'm very happy and I'd like to tell you why. One of the LFC stewards (at the front of block 202, Kop) had a heart attack during the first half and thanks to the St Johns Ambulance staff performing tireless CPR for 8-10 minutes and the LFC club doctor providing help and advise. They managed to resuscitate him, hook him up to oxygen and saved his life. 1-0? Who's arsed really.? Context.

Saw that and wondered what was happening. They got a good hand too from the Kop.
Hope the steward is OK

Can I ask the ed002 if avilable a lot is made of the madrids club transfer window bans, are LFC in risk of the same? I worry that the club spends still beyond what they make. I honestly believe we have a fantastic crop of players we miss use! As a result we spend more than we should!

Believable0 Unbelievable8

{Ed002's Note - The fines & bans handed out to Barcelona and the Madrid clubs relate to abuses of the rules covering the transfer and registration of younger players rather than anything financial or FFP based. The punishments were from FIFA and Liverpool are certainly not under any threat at this time. Liverpool has constantly been on the edge of the UEFA FFP situation and will might need to bring forward sponsorship deals or possibly future loans secured on the stadium to settle this season.}

17 Jan 2016 13:01:45
Lucas in for Ibe, only change from Arsenal. Guess Milner will be wide, hopefully we keep the intensity high. All about the start, how many games this season have been dictated by the start, win loss or draw. Don't let them settle, don't let the likes of Fellaini (if he plays) or smalling have time on the ball, they're more likely to make mistakes, and let's do this boys!

Good afternoon Ed1, I arrived in Dubai early this morning. Any recommendation where to watch the match? Thanks a lot in advance.

Believable0 Unbelievable6

{Ed001's Note - having met a few of these lads on their way back from watching games, I can recommend going to see it with them: Dubai Reds

17 Jan 2016 12:16:11
The Dubai Reds go to Goodfellas at the Millenium Hotel in Barsha. Good atmosphere!

17 Jan 2016 16:19:45
Thanks guys. Next question: where would I find a bridge near the Goodfellas, a very high bridge? ;- (

17 Jan 2016 20:02:49
Not so bad! My first instinct was disappointment, but there were a LOT of positives to take from that game. Not the finished article by any means, but plenty of progress shown. The key is now to build on it without undue regression -- so long as that happens, I'm content to sacrifice 3 points to ensure the club starts playing better football, week in, week out.

18 Jan 2016 04:00:20
Spot on, Mahonen. I can't even find one player who had a bad game. A couple could've played better but all in all, we weer great. We know we're our probs are and so does Klopp and hopefully, we get to the League Cup final and a day out at Wembley. Our fans deserve that. N btw, BR spent his media outing today, doing a hit job on LFC and blamed the club for all his failings. What a gentleman!

Hi Ed02, just read somewhere that FIFA is also going to investigate few English clubs on similar issues as which led to bans on the Madrid Clubs.

Any truth in it?

Also, could you elaborate what were the exact issues, is it regarding registration for young players which was not completed properly or is it something far more serious where the clubs deliberately broke regulations, knowing full well the consequences of caught.

I guess I want to know if this is simply one of the risks of doing complex intercontinental transfers amidst non-nonsensical Fifa regulations or is it deliberate malpractice by the clubs in which case, shouldn't they come out and apologize and the responsible people be held accountable

Appreciate your answer.

{Ed002's Note - The whole matter is a little convoluted but I will try to summarize. The signing and transfers of players who are designated as "Children" (Under 18 years old) are subject to very stringent regulations covering how far from home they can move, welfare, schooling etc., and the rules for the international movement of these players are far stricter and impact the parents moving to non-football related jobs, language issues etc.. The investigations began about three years ago or so and the first tranche of clubs were those in the Champions League.

The investigation looked at the Transfer Management System that captures all details of the players, fees etc. and concentrated on the registration of minors under 18. The first hit was of course Barcelona who were seen to be culpable of failing to meet a number of separate rules (referred to as Articles) and disciplinary charges were levied at the club, primarily in respect of a single player). The outcome was a fine and a ban, that was imposed after ratification following a couple of appeals). The who deal with Atletico and Real Madrid being investigated, charged with the punishment identified is actually rather old news dating back to the Spring of 2015 (March and April). FIFA found the two clubs (Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid) culpable of abusing the regulations regarding the transfer of minors - both clubs had two window bans identified as punishment but neither had the band imposed until January 2016. And this has raised a number of concerns - particularly with the very vocal Barcelona. Again the charges were levied in respect of a small number of players (e.g. two (12 & 14 years old) who signed for Real Madrid in 2012). They were both found guilty of similar breaches related to the registration and subsequent moving of the players.

I am going to be a little deliberately vague with the next bit: Some months ago one of those clubs offered to voluntarily take a one window (January 2016) ban to make the broader issue go away, but that was not accepted by FIFA. Both clubs have met with FIFA and UEFA in recent months seeking the clarity of the timing of the bans and to some extent have gotten what they wanted - at least it is now clear. I will say that both will appeal but one has a firm legal basis for their appeal to have the ban overturned completely. Additionally, a larger number of clubs (double figures) have been identified as potentially falling foul of the same regulations but investigations are currently on hold. This larger number does include Arsenal and Chelsea but neither has been asked to defend their position at this time. The only clubs initially investigated were those in the Champions League three years ago and the investigations went back as early as 2005. FIFA will have to decide whether to extend the investigation or look to an alternate solution if they think they have caught the major culprits. In some cases it will be a can of worms - particularly in Spain and Portugal. For now, it should not be a concern for the English sides.}

Thnx for your detailed answer Ed.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome Pankaj.}

17 Jan 2016 12:08:58
hey ed002, question for you if don't mind answering.

1) what sparked this investigation?

2) what are the impact of these investigations? what i mean with my question is, would complying to all the requirements (which has seen the clubs failing) be better for younger kids? regulations and articles i would think would be developed in order to protect the kids, like for example ensuring them getting education etc. will these help kids in football in the future? (as clubs would most likelt comply now with stricter controls following these investigations)

3) following question 2, do you think there will be changes to the fifa articles or controls in the future following these investigations and findings?

{Ed002's Note - (a) The FIFA Investigation Chamber began to act when it was clear that the Study on the Economic and Legal Aspects of Transfers of Players would look at and make recommendations in respect of minors. Some initial work was carried out and a whole bunch of "questionable" registrations identified. These were then looked at individually. (2) Clubs have no option but to comply with the regulations - which are in place and regularly being reviewed and tightened. They are very much their to protect the youngsters. (3) There are other initiatives on going as well, but one change that has already happened is that transfer certificates will, in the future, be required of minors from the age of 10. There may well be other changes,, but the issues we see right now are a problem with compliance, not a problem with the regulations.}

thank you very much ed002, appreciate it.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

Looking down at the earlier post regarding strikers, we have been blessed with watching some of the finest in the game. If we are talking number Nine's then it will always be Ian Rush. Rush was the best defender of the lot and he would be Klopps dream player in that position. At the time when he was at his best there was only 1 striker better and that was the untouchable Van Basten. What a player he was.280 games 218 goals finished his last game at the age of 28.Best striker in a red shirt Rush.

The least enjoyable match of the season is upon us boys. All I ask is no more absolute gift goals. A corner against us is a 50/ 50 goal because our keeper (s) are terrible. Hate watching us dominate, playing lovely stuff just to concede crappy goals. I'd rather us play badly and lose. Fingers crossed we will be tight.

if it's like last season then it will be a physical battle - which we will lose. Let's hope we can get the passing going like against Arsenal. They started really well last season and grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck. We need to boss it early.
It's interesting because both teams like the ball. Last year we pressed high and they passed around us, if I was kipperty I'd keep i would go at it for ten minutes but then drop deep and try and counter, they are crap and run out of ideas quickly against teams who shut up shop. You have to pick them off on the counter which I think we can. they are a mess at the back like us. Could be another 3-3!

We could see Caulker come in to do a job on Felliani.

Ive got a sneaky feeling for lallana today.

Fingers crossed and good luck fellow redmen.

Believable0 Unbelievable13

17 Jan 2016 09:13:10
Caulker do a job on Fellani? I thought the Ed said yesterday, Lovren is fit? If that's the case I would expect Lovren and Sakho to line up at CB. That's Lovren fit, Sakho fit, Toure fit and Ilori fit. Why did we sign Caulker? I'm not sure myself.

17 Jan 2016 09:42:36
We will need more than one goal to get a result from this game I reckon. I will be surprised if we can keep clean sheet against United . So we need 2-3 goals and my worry is after Firmino socred twice against Arsenal they will not let him move so we need someone else joining the scoring today. If Benteke plays, movement or not at least he takes a lot of attention from defenders and occasionaly can poke one. If he is out, it is more or less only Firmino. Milner, Lallana, Ibe, Can and our fullbacks can do some nice things but unfortunately scoring is not their strength. Henderson maybe.

I am sure it is likely to be an open game with chances for both teams, and the key will be making the most of the chances each team will have. The differences between the quality of the keepers, the CBs and the number of potential scorers makes me particulalry worried. But let's hope for the best. At least we have the better manager.

17 Jan 2016 11:25:39
5-0.sorted.

17 Jan 2016 11:29:18
Clean sheet against United? They've scored about 5 goals in their last ten games and most of them were penalties. It will either be a stale mate or a comfortable win for us.

17 Jan 2016 11:41:13
Brisbane,

Because injury free and fit are not the same thing.

Also who knows if they are completely over the injuries. The problem with muscle injuries such as hamstrings is they are prone to re-injury.

17 Jan 2016 12:08:09
As is kicking your toe on the table leg and breaking it. Should we sign a whole heap of players just to cover for such an occurrence too?

17 Jan 2016 12:21:12
Least enjoyable? R u serious? Mate I've been pumped for this since the Arse'n'balls match. Can't say I even know anyone that dosnt love these match days. There's only few things in life that are better than spanking the mancs, like smashing the chavs, those very rare days where the road gods smile upon my worthless backside and grant me roads free of cages and the tax collectors known as the police. Today is 1 of those days, the type that live long in our memory's, the days I will remember in 50 years and I'm telling great grandkids how the mighty reds mopped the floor with the mancs. This is what it's all about, this where we can start to make a mark, this is where we can take those steps to greatness.

17 Jan 2016 12:48:21
It's horrible for me Jax. I'm like a tense nightmare waiting for a heart attack. I kick every ball, head every header. I can't bare it if it's like the Arsenal game -me.

17 Jan 2016 13:44:01
Embrace it mate, stare it down, look it in the eyes and tell it your the master, remember what it's like to be at Anfield on a day like this, the tensions building as your walking to the stadium, there's singing, chanting, you've had a few bevys, your looking for mancs to use as footballs, bouncing on the balls of your feet, fists clenching at your sides, your alive, you feel hear and see every little thing around you, and every man around u is the same, your in a crowd of thousands making your way to Anfield to give it to the mancs, the very air your breathing contains every thought, feeling and action from those around you, u feel all this energy building inside and u know at some point over the next 3 hours your going to release all that energy and damn it, it better be because Liverpool have proven again who the kings in red are, because if the mancs get it done on the pitch, the red men will get it done off it, that same energy will be released so any manc nearby better be ready to run because when u release the beast it's going to be a show of pure power. Home or Away lad, matters nought, this is Manchester United we are playing, sworn enemy, everything that is evil is what that shirt represents and today we will show them who is the master. Today, Man U at home, Get in Son get in, Love it. Live for it.

17 Jan 2016 23:19:35
I may have been a bit hasty in my prediction .

17 Jan 2016 08:10:22
Hey Eds, just an idea for an article, abit like your worst/ best player of the season per club.

How about doing a "one to watch" per club? Be interesting if you have the time!

Believable3 Unbelievable5

{Ed001's Note - added it to my ever growing to do list. I am going to get stuck into them all after the transfer window shuts when I have a bit more time.}

17 Jan 2016 06:02:32
Hey Ed01,

Hope you're well, just asking a question on the transfer window, what would your ideal window include? Hypothetically, if we can clear some of the players we don't want, which may promt us to add a couple of players, who would you go for and why?

Cheers.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I would prefer the club to look at what we already have and leave it until the summer. There is no one we can afford to offload and no one out there available that seems worth bringing in.}

Charlton not west brom, my mistake.

{Ed001's Note - you have lost me....}

17 Jan 2016 08:14:58
Luis Garcia. What was your opinion of him Ed02?

I look back fondly at some of his goals. chelsea. juventus. west brom come to mind but man he was more likely to frustrate than be brilliant. Still loved him as a play and he also had one of the best songs.

{Ed002's Note - He was a very good player who contributed goals. And he settled at Liverpool which he did not do well elsewhere.}

17 Jan 2016 03:51:15
If you could have any of our past strikers back, playing at their prime, who would it be?

Mine would be Fowler. Suarez may be the obvious choice but Robbie loved the club and scored just as many goals .

Believable1 Unbelievable0

17 Jan 2016 04:47:51
Mine would be Ngog ;)

17 Jan 2016 05:54:54
Guys,

Anyone remember this guy brought by Rafa from Serbia. He provided the most funny moment for LFC ever.

Jancovic. is it? Not getting his name.

{Ed001's Note - Jovanovic. Truly dreadful player.}

17 Jan 2016 06:51:37
Voronin for me. Is an absolute BEAST! . in youtube.

17 Jan 2016 06:55:00
Loved fowler, but he had some quality around him, unlike Suarez who carried the team at times. Torres at his best in partnership with Gerard was awesome, though hard for me to go past kenny as I grew up watching him from the cheap seats (shoulders of my dad) .

17 Jan 2016 07:41:25
If Suarez is around, then afraid Rogies will still be here . LoL.

17 Jan 2016 08:18:32
Any striker from our past?
No debate, Ian Rush.

17 Jan 2016 08:28:45
Sean Dundee for me or Christian Poulsen pushed forward to a false No.9.

Seriously, Rushey for me, would fit into Klopps style of play perfectly. Not just a great finished, pressed from the front.

17 Jan 2016 13:09:17
Has to be Aldo for me. I know in my head Rush was better but my heart says Aldo as he was my hero growing up.

17 Jan 2016 01:30:22
Biggest game of the season so far almost upon us and I for one am craving a good performance from all the players involved no matter what way they line up against Utd,

Who here thinks we will beat Utd and also
Really want a win, would be a massive boost for morale in the club

Something telling me if we do perform well like we can and win the game it could be Van Gouls last game in charge.
