Remember kids stay off drugs! 😂😂😂😂😂😂.

18 Jun 2017 00:39:21
Alan's off his barnet.

18 Jun 2017 01:29:25
thanks alan for once again using Jonathan Northcroft's ( Sunday Time's journalist) info as your own, much appreciated.

18 Jun 2017 07:55:28
Sakho I've been going on about the OX for about 8 weeks lad.

18 Jun 2017 07:58:20
25th April the Ox to Lfc . thank you!

18 Jun 2017 09:26:01
Love it how people get abused for writing transfer gossip on a gossip page lol.

18 Jun 2017 10:45:23
Haha Alan just stop, Graeme Kelly on twitter was the 1st person in early April to claim our interest in the Ox. You're not any ITK you're just passing other people's info as your own, it's really pathetic and sad.

18 Jun 2017 11:24:18
To be fair Sakho, your vendetta against Alan, abusing him literally every time he posts, is more pathetic.

If you don't believe him, and I'm more than sceptical myself, just vote the post down and ignore it. No need to harass the guy.

18 Jun 2017 11:55:37
Give it a rest Sakho. It's a rumours page!

18 Jun 2017 12:41:03
The Ox is on his way, . to Tesco for a pint of milk!

18 Jun 2017 13:01:07
Fair point Mk, but it's frustrating when someone is just passing on someone else's info as their own.

17 Jun 2017 22:31:45
Hi Eds,

Just wondering what the problem with Brandt is? He's the perfect player for us and would cost 20 million euros less.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - Try the search engine.}

18 Jun 2017 01:30:42
playing time is the main problem. Which baffles me as with Phil in the 8 position it makes the left wing position free.

18 Jun 2017 03:15:33
Sahko, that may be true but I don't agree with someone saying he won't come unless he has guarantees of first team opportunities REGARDLESS of how he performs. That is a recipe for disaster which is why many clubs despise making such commitments. They can promise first team opportunities which Brandt was going to get anyway but he seems to want to make sure the guarantees are iron clad, as he is eyeing a place in Russia withe the German team. I would take Salah any day as he is older, more experienced and had a much more productive season even tho, I am a huge Brandt fan.

18 Jun 2017 03:59:58
The irony of his whimpy attitude is incredible. So this guy reckons that he's good enough to make the German WC squad, yet when the opportunity arises to occupy a VACANT left flank role at a bigger club, he bottles it and insecurely demands assurances? Kids these days! What he doesn't seem to realise is that he has much more chance of making the WC squad if he does well at Liverpool, rather than if he does well at Leverkusen.

18 Jun 2017 09:28:00
He's probably seen his mate Karius has spent 80% of the season sat on a bench after reassurances and thinks that if he wants to make a World Cup squad he's better off where he is. Can't see where the problem is with that.

18 Jun 2017 09:32:24
If Brandt is serious about being a mainstay in Germany's national team, maybe he could show a bit more faith in his own abilities. Demanding a starting 11 berth is just ridiculous imo. If you are good enough, you will start. If he felt he could not cope with the competition even with Coutinho moving into midfield, then Brandt can stay where he is. Not the mentality needed for challenging at the highest level.

18 Jun 2017 11:53:14
Liverpool fans getting very sour because a young lad eyeing a WC squad doesn't want to join and risk losing the spot he has earned last season. red blinkered classic.

18 Jun 2017 12:45:27
Not too sure if it's the same or not and I'll accept if I'm wrong, but isn't Can demanding to start almost every match and one of the main reasons why his new contract hasn't been sorted yet?

18 Jun 2017 12:50:01
So in other words, jk82 and Puzzled Red, you are apologists for meek and insecure mentality.

It's not like he'd need to come in and compete with a raft of established wingers in the Liverpool squad. The situation is the manager is crying out for a left winger and is keen on Brandt, yet Brandt still demands assurances. How the hell could anyone not see how insecure that is? How the hell can this kid have the ambition to play for Germany in the world cup next year yet not feel confident enough that he can establish the vacant Liverpool LW role as his own?

19 Jun 2017 06:24:54
Apologies Robin Hood i didn't realise other people were not allowed their own opinions.

17 Jun 2017 20:55:01
This has nothing to do with liverpool, but i was wondering if ed 002 has read the book: the age of anger by Pankaj Mishra, and if yes, if he/ she was willing to give his/ her view on the book. please post on appropriate page and forgive me for my english it's not my first language.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - I haven't but a quick look at the summary I must say it looks very interesting and I will find a copy and have a read. Thanks for the tip Baker.}

17 Jun 2017 23:44:51
Fantastic book a very good read,
By the way Baker, not sure if you were being sarcastic about the language, your post is close to perfect English and better than most in here including the eds.

18 Jun 2017 00:23:32
Roy - watchutokkinabawt?

18 Jun 2017 11:25:03
Tokkinbawsm8.

17 Jun 2017 19:50:00
First time poster. Hi guys hope you are enjoying the weather! going to put this out there and will probably be laughed at. is Aubameyang an achievable signing? PSG move seems to have collapsed. Would be a great statement by FSG and would give us a much needed striker who could score 30 plus goals a season. I know left back and defensive midfield is where we need to improve but to me Aubameyang for me would really get me excited for next season.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - I wouldn't hold your breath.}

17 Jun 2017 20:16:34
I don't think it's a case of "if we can get him" it's a case of does he want to come!?
No doubt he's one of the best around and I'd love to see him at lfc but it ain't going to happen.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have made no efforts at all to sign him at this time.}

17 Jun 2017 20:41:39
Stevie G talking about a big signing, making a big statement, I think that this 70 million striker is that man .

17 Jun 2017 21:18:02
Mbappe would be the statement signing that would rock Europe with a big fat LFC are back and we're here to win. Won't happen, cause that won't happen.

{Ed002's Note - Other clubs have no interest in who Liverpool sign.}

17 Jun 2017 21:22:43
You'll wake up with your head in the porridge lad.

17 Jun 2017 23:25:33
Klopp has publicly stated that he will no be signing players he has worked with previously.

17 Jun 2017 23:42:31
Seems Southampton do ED002 ;)

17 Jun 2017 23:57:27
Scoring goals isn't our problem.

18 Jun 2017 00:46:23
Gerrard would be better off not making comments like that altogether.

18 Jun 2017 02:25:30
I agree.

I'm a huge supporter of Stevies and delighted he is back involved in the club.

But his current role in the club is as a novice coach of the U18s.

He should take notice of how many other nocice coaches like him are making suggestions on first team affairs.

The answer is none that want to still have a job next season.

Coach or Pundit?

18 Jun 2017 03:17:45
Lfcder, this is why many like myself, did not want him back as he has never known when to be a diplomat and keep his comments to himself in certain situations.

18 Jun 2017 05:34:45
Don't be naive, Gerrard isn't like normal youth coaches. He may be a youth coach but has a bigger status at the club than the whole team combined.

{Ed001's Note - which is a problem, as he should not have and should check his ego at the door. His status should be that of a youth coach and nothing more, until he proves himself in that role.}

18 Jun 2017 08:04:14
that's being unrealistic ed.

{Ed001's Note - how is it being unrealistic? Better players with much higher standing in the game have started at a lower level and learnt from the bottom. To be a good coach, he needs to check his ego at the door and be all about the players he is coaching or he will not make it work. That is why Rodgers failed, ego beat him. If Gerrard carries on as he is, then he will be another Hoddle, who could only manage at the lower levels where players where in awe of him. As soon as he came up to higher quality players, who did not just go all weak kneed as it was Hoddle coaching them, he struggled badly. Shame because Hoddle showed with his academy that he can do the business.}

18 Jun 2017 09:37:23
Hoddle, if he had coached as ed said above and actually realused that he had things to learn, that would have improved him and brought him to the next level as a manager over the years.

He would probably only now have made a success of being England manager.

Again though, statements about his own personal beliefs was his undoing.

Gerard the pundit and playing legend should take heed and disappear for the next 5 years and only use his staus to help attract the top young talent to come and play at the club.

Ps. I thought Venables was the best international team coach we had closely followed by Bobby Robson.

A case in point is, When the Irish FA appointed steve Staunton to be Ireland manager along with Sir Bobby Robson, Staunton could not wait to assert his authority over Robson by bleating ' I'm the gaffer' whereas, if he had said he had said Im fortunste for having Bobbys expeience to hopfully learn from in the early day. EVERYY thing you say as a coach has consequences.

17 Jun 2017 19:43:45
So reports suggest Salah is bang on to become our second signing of the window.

Onwards!

Next up, RB and LB. Please Klopp!

Believable4 Unbelievable5

17 Jun 2017 22:02:31
Salah was done weeks ago, as was vvd.

Mendy next.

17 Jun 2017 09:23:46
Reckon we can expect new signings over the next few days, Ed001/ 002 how many deals do you think Klopp was able to nail on during his birthday party?

Believable0 Unbelievable6

18 Jun 2017 00:47:22
My money is on 4 in and a lot of outs.

17 Jun 2017 16:22:34
Hi ed's I know nothing is set with loans outs as the window isn't even open.

But with us having Ibe, Wilson and Kent all similar age position etc, and I'm assuming we will only keep one at the club. What do you think would be the best course of action for all of them?

As well I am surprised that we have "rejected" loan approaches from celtic I would imagine that would be good for their development.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - Ibe? I take it you mean Ojo? It really depends on what happens in the window. If we do not get someone for the left, then that changes things. We need to keep at least one as cover and to play cup games etc. Preferably I would prefer the players to get loans in the area, so they can come back on a regular basis and take part in Liverpool training.}

17 Jun 2017 16:57:39
I would definitely keep ojo he has already shown he can do something at 1st teat level. Though suppose he has been given the chance. I'd imagine Woodburn will be kept around toon, he can play more central as well though.

17 Jun 2017 17:37:30
What chance do we have when fans still think Ibe is at the club.

17 Jun 2017 17:41:23
1st teat level - is he still being breastfed?

17 Jun 2017 18:48:36
You've got to love a bit of predictive text. Its a brilliant insight into peoples deepest secrets.

Kopdog obviously gets down with a bit of teat talk from time to time. Nowt wrong with that. I think many of us can relate to this.

My biggest worry here is that its not a literal term and in fact he has an obsession with animals nipples.

Could you clarify mate?

17 Jun 2017 22:06:44
Flash give yourself a pat on the back for that comment 😂😂😂.

18 Jun 2017 00:49:37
Woodburn in my opinion needs to work on his physical strength to further his chances.

17 Jun 2017 15:40:48
I'm a bit concerned about Manes injury. We've seen so many times how a knee injury can set back players pace, and Mane i particular feeds a lot on his pace and his quick movement. I do not know how serious Manes injury was/ is, but I guess several months out must indicate a serious injury. What is your knowledge on this one Eds?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - impossible to say. A lot of it is up to the mind to deal with.}

17 Jun 2017 16:02:08
Was the injury a meniscal tear? If so it's not a contractile structure such as muscle or tendon so should not impair power. The importance is post injury recovery and strengthening. Given the time in the off season this should easily be achieved. The biggest issue is return to normal football related activity such as accelerating/ decelerating and twisting/ turning. Much of this will come with preseason games. Therefore we may not see him at his lightning best until he has 10 games plus under his belt. Certainly wouldn't have any major worries so long as rehab is conducted properly.

Cheers.

18 Jun 2017 00:25:48
I thought it was an ankle injury?

{Ed002's Note - Knee cartiledge.}

18 Jun 2017 00:00:33
Thanks a lot for your replys, I guess there is a good chanse we'll se Mane on his best again. He is the kind of player our club have needed for many years. Unpredictable pace combined with a good nose for goals is always golden. Mane has fearfactor.

18 Jun 2017 09:42:41
Ah thanks ed. I never pay to much attention and assumed ankle due to way he fell at the time of injury. Knee cartilidge isn't as bad as ligaments. I'm ex military and have had both in separate knees respectively. The one with ligament damage is far worse nowadays.

17 Jun 2017 15:12:47
Proper clear out at our full back positions this summer is on the cards.
Looking for exits for Conor Randall, Moreno, Flanagan and Wisdom who is already gone.
None of these players are good enough.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

17 Jun 2017 15:37:07
Agreed. Clyne and TAA will be our RBs and a new LB (hopefully Mendy) will join while Milner will deputise.

18 Jun 2017 00:26:59
I'd prefer Milner at RB to Clyne. Milner is probably the best crosser of the ball we have and much more effective both in attack and defence than Clyne.

18 Jun 2017 02:40:40
Milner may be better on the right,
On the left he had to keep cutting in and often the final ball was poor.

But 10/ 10 for attitude and effort.

A top professional.

18 Jun 2017 03:20:35
Clyne should be added to the Outs list as he is severely poor.

18 Jun 2017 09:45:26
That's what I mean, by a proper left back and have TAA and Milner at RB. I don't really mind Clyne to much as he's never seems to make errors leading to goals against, but his wastefulness going forward is not befitting an international fullback these days.

17 Jun 2017 12:33:58
Eds,

One quick question . Any news on Mane's Injury? How is it progressing? And will he be ready for the 1st day of Pre-season?

Thank You.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - none mate. It is the close season, the players are on holidays.}

17 Jun 2017 11:48:04
Kevin Stewart has been interviewed and insisted he is not leaving and will fight to become a regular next season.

Just a thought, but with rumours that Lucas is off for first team football, Clyne rumoured to be out of favour, and Milner leaving City for us with the intention of playing centre mid so probably also wanting to leave now; is there a chance Stewart has been asked to stay as the squad utility player? He can play right back, centre back, left back, holding midfield, box to box midfield, right midfield and left midfield! A player with such versatility who is willing to fight for a place could be invaluable next season.

Lucas and Milner are great because they can cover various positions, but Stewart can literally cover every position alone that they can combined.

Certainly got me thinking. Perhaps his Liverpool career isn't as dead as we think?

Believable2 Unbelievable6

17 Jun 2017 11:58:08
Lucas and Milner, Well they took us to 4th at their very best and if you want to progress you need better players. We need to end these retirement packages for any progress. This club need to put an end to offering contract extension for players who have crossed the 30 unless they are exceptional talent.

If you are happy with Lucas and Milner going to next season then we will finish somewhere near 8th place.

17 Jun 2017 11:57:25
I still think Stewart isn't as bad as people say and can do a job. As a proper old fashioned midfield destroyer, which we don't always need but comes in very handy at times to free up more creative players, he's the best we'd get without spending 15-25m on someone who wouldn't be a regular starter for tactical reasons. Someone good enough to make us change our tactics like N'Zonzi would probably cost near to 40m so isn't likely. He just needs more playing opportunity so he isn't so rusty every time he's called upon.

{Ed025's Note - with CL football on the horizon i think "can do a job" players should not even be considered hjikle, just pay the bloody money and bring in some good players and make the most of it mate..

17 Jun 2017 12:02:11
Understand what your saying MK, but realistically if he was going to get a chance he would have featured more the season just finished, I very much doubt he is in Klopps plans for the 1st team.

As much as would love to see our youngsters get a chance to show what they can do with a sustained run in the team I just don't see it happening. TAA is the closest at the moment. Pressure on managers to win games and the impatience of fans to allow players them time to develop wanting them to be world beaters instantly makes it very difficult for top clubs in England to bring youngsters through unless they are really talented and grab their chance. Constant media pressure doesn't help either.

Stewart is at an age where he needs to start playing regularly or his career is going to pass him by.

{Ed025's Note - i agree FM..

17 Jun 2017 12:04:42
No chance Stewart features next year, he is a championship player. With our depleted and bare squad last year Stewart's still failed to even make the bench so there is no chance he plays this season with us upgrading the squad significantly.

{Ed025's Note - lets hope that is the case sakho..

17 Jun 2017 12:28:48
I don't think he's a bad layer but no matter how good a midfielder we have we shouldn't consider them a right back.

17 Jun 2017 13:42:41
Get rid, hopefully get a few quid for him, I would rather keep Lucas.

17 Jun 2017 15:05:31
I think a utility player is always an asset. I don't think Stewart is that player.

17 Jun 2017 14:55:32
Ed25 is on the money. We are now in the CL and the PL will only get tougher and tougher to win and also to finish in the top 4. Just ask Arsenal and Utd (who ditched the PL to focus on the EL) . The "can do a job" type players will no longer cut it if we want to improve. Chelsea won the PL by winning 30 out of 38 games. That is now the standard. If you think "can do a job" players will help you get there then, you are gravely deluded.

Same with making top 4. We got 4th with 76 points. We will need prolly another 10 or so points (86 points) to be in the top 4 and that ain't going to happen with average fringe players like Stewart. We need quality in the first eleven and near like for like quality in the squad and that should be target.

{Ed025's Note - i totally agree brussels mate..

18 Jun 2017 08:00:53
Chelsea won the league with Moses, Alonso, Cahill, Willian, Fabregas and as well as them with Azpilicueta out of position at centre back. Just putting that out there.

17 Jun 2017 09:26:19
Reading that Huddersfield tried to have Ward either on loan again or on permanent deal

Both rejected as JK wants Ward as 3rd choice

Can't see the logic in this- how does this aid his development?

Far better to have anther season playing regularly (apart from 2 games) in the EPL.

As Ed002 repeatedly states, wonder what our strategy for loanees actually is.

Believable7 Unbelievable3

17 Jun 2017 09:56:23
I think it could be that Klopp wants a look at all the keepers through preseason; then make a decision and hopefully still have opportunities for them at the end of the summer.

17 Jun 2017 10:04:58
Another lfc brainwave.

17 Jun 2017 10:14:59
Have we not got access to video technology to be able to watch him in every minute of every game.

17 Jun 2017 10:27:40
What good does it do to loan Ward out now? Klopp clearly thinks he is a good talent, so bring him back to the club for pre season and make him compete with Mignolet and Karius. If he comes out on top, great. If not, we can loan him out at the end of July.

17 Jun 2017 10:34:19
Having a right old whinge at the minute 🙄.

17 Jun 2017 11:33:55
Whats the rush? if he outperforms Karius and Mogs in pre-season he could start the season as No.1.If, as expected, it looks like he needs a season on loan in the Premier League he'll go to Huddersfield. People are just moaning for the sake of it.

17 Jun 2017 11:58:49
I would have thought that either Mingolet or Karius could be moved on at some point in the near future as Mingolet has such a challenge for his future and Karius was promised first team football what he has failed to secure.

17 Jun 2017 14:56:40
According to Ed02, Ward won't be here next season.

17 Jun 2017 08:39:34
Just a bit of fun, but with so many players available,
stating they wish to leave current club, or

have rejected a contract at their current clubs this window who would be your top four signings?

For me I would have to pick.

Donnaruma.
Sessenogn.
Brandt.
Douglas Costa.

Donnaruma signing would mean Mignolet leaving but would give us two very good young keepers for ten years. In addition we have potentially another in Ward.

Sessenogn cos we need a left back so much and given his age would be left back for next ten years also.

Brandt again desperately need a left winger and his age and ability makes him a must for me.

Costa simply because three wingers would be great at club. I can't even remember the last time we had two quality wingers. But if we signed both Costa and Brandt to go with Mane we'd have three.

I avoided Ronaldo as I was preferring the younger players route. Remember just for fun so don't all have a go at me saying impossible.

Believable6 Unbelievable3

17 Jun 2017 09:06:53
Impossible.

17 Jun 2017 10:32:20
Aubameyang, Mbappe, Veratti and Donarumma.

I know defence is a weakness, but if we had Mane, Auba and Mbappe supplied by Veratti and Coutinho, with the best goal keeping talent for 2 decades, I think we could cope!

Like you say, just for fun though. This will never happen!

17 Jun 2017 15:36:43
Mendy and Mbappe. Offer £150m for the pair and close the window unless we sell a weak position.
These two would elevate us to title challenge and a hope of a decent CL campaign.

17 Jun 2017 00:43:31
Hey Eds. Now there's more focus on outgoing players like Sakho, Moreno, Lucas and Markovic in particular, is our budget going to be based on players sales or it is more of a case of buying suited players regardless of who we sell? Thanks in advance.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I wouldn't worry about the budget at all but Liverpool cannot keep adding players without selling some - and Sakho and Markovic were not in the squad last year so numerically they don't count.}

17 Jun 2017 03:30:24
Ed002, but is it not true that they can add new players to replace the U21 players from the squad, because the U21 players can still play?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

17 Jun 2017 00:17:53
Why do people need to think we need to sign big? We've got the best game to game ratio against the top 10! The only thing we haven't got is squad depth, we need to make LB an left wing a priority for first team members then the rest is squad depth, the window isn't even open yet an people are being negative! Get off football manager an give some credit to klopp he knows what he's doing.

Believable8 Unbelievable10

17 Jun 2017 09:18:16
That's why need to sign experience, to drag players through against lower placed opposition.
Someone who has been in the situation previously and knows how to get through

Usually this signing is"big"

17 Jun 2017 09:27:55
We have a good squad, we just need to address our weaknesses at the back. Adding a bit of quality in attack will also add depth as they will be fighting for a place!

17 Jun 2017 14:58:24
Spot on, Fencey. Our core is very strong and more than a match for anyone when fit. We just need to address the weaknesses out wide at forward and FB and improve the depth and we should be fine.

17 Jun 2017 18:00:21
Apart from knowing how to give the selling club a wee phone call, drop them a text, email. Anything.
But yeah do kind of agree we don't need to sign the so called world stars. But top quality is needed. If we get in a few to fill the obvious holes and 1 or 2 more that will push some starters and to the bench and into competition for a place we will have a seriously good squad. Not just starting 11.
