jut like to say get well soon to fab muamba and we are speculating about what striker to bring in. i think we need a natural finisher and a poacher as well as smeone who has a bit of skill. since torres left we haven't had a natural finisher

Thankfully, the latest news on Fabrice Muamba is more positive. Let's hope he can make a full recovery and I'd love it if he was able to play again.

It was good to see all the good wishes from Liverpool fans on here and I wouldn't expect anything else from the best supporters in the world.

Fair play to Tottenham fans too, who recognised the severity of the problem and acted with total respect during and after the sad incident. They realised that a man's life is more important than a game of football but, sadly, there are still idiots at most clubs who do not. Those who chant sick songs about Munich, Hillsborough and Heysel etc, please take note. They are not funny and are not appreciated by the majority of genuine football supporters who always want to beat their rivals but would still offer them support in their times of tragedy. As we wait and pray that Muamba recovers fully, let us all remember that.

Our legendry boss Bill Shankly once said that football is more important than life or death. It was the only thing he got wrong, even though he obviously said it in jest.

Hey Eds

Toni Silva who is out on loan at Northampton i was wondering what your view of him was ? and weather a team from a higher league i.e prem or championship may be a option for him on loan next season.

Thanks

Marc {Ed001's Note - I think he has a lot of skill, defo needs to be playing at a higher level though, we need to find out if he can use that skill at a higher level. He has to be a very good option for our right wing next season, if we can't buy a right winger, I would keep him and give him a run of games.}

Well, he is doing a fantastic job at Northampton. Certinly has got bags of talent. Hope, we'd give him opprunities to flourish in the first team. Many of our youth lads deserve their chances. Hope, we'd be able to do do that. YNWA

Hi eds, what was the reasoning behind buying Charlie Adam? I'm not here to slag him off, but I think we can all agree he has not had the dream first season he would of liked for his price of what was it £9m? Wasting shots, not the passer we knew in the blackpool team and missing penalities. However, I think he deserves another season with us, maybe not featuring as much as this season, but I see alot of talk of another 'CM' would that be to replace Adam or just another squad player. Additionally, why a CM? We currently play a 4-2-3-1 most games, so we play 2 DM's and 3 CAM's (including the 2 wingers) so would the addition of another CM be an attacking one? Just brain storming as I feel another CM isn't nessacary. {Ed001's Note - what was the reasoning? Well those deadly accurate dead balls he was pinging in at Blackpool. The pin point passes he was sweeping over the pitch. His ability to hit the back of the net from anywhere on the edge of the area. All the things that seem to have vanished this season in fact!}

A lot of the british signings are not playing to there full potential. Carrol, hendo, Adam and Downing all played well at there respected clubs. The players just beed to settle in and we will be right.
tizer red

Adam was fantastic last season and a lot of clubs were interested. Yes, not been great this year but he will settle and you'll all love him again.

as a spurs fan its good to see a world football family pulling together at these sad times, the medical staff is with out doubt the best around having head hunted the best with in their field! If there its a chance out started there, defibrillators were used as was cpr top resuscitate the player! the crowd together were as one were amazing the fell silent together applauded together and sang his name together, I think modric was the first to see the player in distress and alerted the ref and medical staff, the image of vdv praying should not be witnessed on a football field, I'd like to end by changing the ending of our song from ' glory glory tottenham hotspur' to glory glory fabrice muamba

Good luck with your mickey sorry I mean FA Cup game tomorrow.
I'm sure it will be a battle of class with both teams having a reputation for playing interesting and entertaining football.
If you lose or draw please don't all come on and call for my friend Queen Kenny's head or if you win call him the messiah.

Just looking at the league table, which now shows Swansea one place below us, I can't help wanting to congratulate Brendan Rogers and his team, who I thought would be lucky to stay up at the start of the season. They play quick, attractive football, and have been a real breath of fresh air. It's also worth pointing out that their squad is valued at around 70M (against our value of 240M). The point of my post is not to moan on about our spending (which I could easily do) but to praise the Swans for what they have achieved with a vastly smaller budget. It really shows what you can do with some shrewd purchases, a clever manager and a team (with fast wingers, I would like to emphasize) where every player knows what they're supposed to be doing and perform as a single unit, not a collection of celebrities. As we start to think (and fantasize) about who we're going to be buying in the summer, surely there are some lessons to be learned here.
-SH-
PS Let's give Stoke a real battering tomorrow. I've always had a soft spot for Port Vale and their neighbours are beginning to irritate me.

Using the existing footprint of Anfield as it is and stretching the boundary to as far as is feasibly possible, how much more capacity can be got by re-designing and replacing each stand and filling in the corners with seats?

There are plenty of houses boarded up and empty around the stadium.

I know the main road is there, but what about potential of extending to the other side of the road and having a short tunnel through for the road that we would take up?

Also, modern building techniques are such that more can be achieved (eg higher and bigger) without necessarily having to have wider/longer foundations - just maybe having to dig a bit deeper to have (which wouldn't increase the overall footprint of the current site.

Magic of The FA Cup. Football is a magical thing, where going to win the cup. Be happy and the world will smile with you.

Lets get in a better mood for the FA cup.

It was 6-1 at Brighton, before that we beat man u 2-1. The road has been long, but our victories build character. Lets come together as a team. We deserve to win it

Everton 1-1 Sunderland
Tottenham V Bolton
Chelsea V Leicester
Liverpool V Stoke

It where in it to win it. We can beat Stoke we can take on another and then its the final. We must be favourites for the cup

Totteham, Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool for then round.

I would say we have more than a chance.

Favourites for the cup? You are kidding! Chelsea and Tottenham would be far above you. While i find you lot lift a level against us in the eyes of the bookies you will not be favourites.

Melbourne CFC

All the teams that still in it have a good chance to win it mate, cup games are all about who turns up for the game, we should respect our opponents and make sure we turn up and up for it, good luck to us

F**king hell a CFC fan talking about us.
You wouldn't be favourites against Leicester let alone the cup. :)

Will let Chelsea and Tottenham be the favourites we just go on and win it, being favourite add more pressure on our players we can do with out.

U got this Bolton!

Of course Chavs are favourites - they are the only team to face a Championship team. But if you can't get past them... Singred

You guys are literally beyond help. Please sign you posts so that when the day comes that Liverpool get knocked out of the FA Cup I can remind you have deluded you are.

I think we only need 3/4 players in the summer. Clearly a decent right winger with pace who can cut in or beat a defender on the outside and whip in a good cross for Carroll to get onto. We need a striker, a finisher who will bang the goals in. This person would replace Kuyt who should leave at the end of the season. I'd also buy a central midfielder in the shape of Moussa Sissoko, to provide more dynamism to our lacklustre midfield. Happy with what we have at the back, so maybe promote a few reserves to the first team squad for cover?

Why is everyone still saying Moyes didn't put out his strongest line up?

He just put out the same defensive style that he has for the last 10 years at Anfield.

KT!

To be fair KT, Moyes did have Fellaini's afro covering the space between their back four and midfield. At one point, Jay Spearing fell into that bush and didn't emerge for about two minutes, spitting black pubes out. Lol.

The top 4 place, which now seems improbable, is important in order to attract quality players and the finance, we all know this.

But, reality hits when you look at transfer gossip and players like Hazard, Erikson, Fischer, Gotze, Neymar, Cavani, Levezzi etc. and see they are linked to Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal, M.Utd, PSG, Barca and Real and you think, Mmm cant see them saying No to those team and picking us (unless we pay ridicoulous wages)

so, conclusion is simple - If wen can't buy them we need to develop them and I really hope that Suso, Sterling, Morgan and the young lads coming through have got something...

Hoilett seems an option for us though?

Other Swansea lad and Lambert have to be options also

This is my team for next year:

Reina.
Johnson. Skrtel. Agger. Enrique.
Lucas. J.Martinez.
A. Johnson. Gerrard. Muniain.
Suarez.

Why wud u want adam johnson? Muniain n martinez wud cost around 55 million though. Dont think the owners wud stump up the money, especially when signing a top class striker is our main priority. martinez wud be my first signing, n matt philips n soldado shud round off the summer window. Who knows, we might actually challenge for the title.
Indian Buzzer

What would attract that type of player to oldfield ? You're deluded if u think they would even consider u

17 Mar 2012 11:35:01
I want Iker Muniain. That is all.

Not sure your his type mate.

Ed, what do you make of any American signings that the owners might feel could increase marketability in the US? I'd fancy Dempsey or a fit again Stuart Holden myself. {Ed001's Note - they won't be signing players for marketability, any signings will be chosen because they are felt to be right on the pitch, not off it. Though I personally think Dempsey would have been a great signing for us, he can put the ball in the back of the net and we have desperately needed that all season.}

100% agree on Dempsey Ed001, have a feeling a few on here might disagree though!

It would probably be those who don't appreciate Spearing's worth as a player ;-)

Matt S - YNWA {Ed001's Note - Dempsey is the only tip I would ever give, bet on him to score at any time, do it over a season and you make money. The lad scores goals on a regular basis, very rarely scores 2 or more in a game, but he does tend to score a goal in most matches. Good in the air, strong, versatile, good touch and good on the ball, he is an excellent player.}

If he did score a goal in most matches? he'd be worth a fortune. Fact is? he doesn't..
kidmillions

Fact is, Dempsey is better than any striker at Liverpool.

Just my own little thought on redeveloping anfield.
If we go ahead and do it i presume to get us to a 60,000-65000 ,we would have a imposing main stand, centinary, and probably annie road,.
Now to me that would leave the kop as the lowest end of the ground and just may take away some of its imposing nature .
Does anyone else feel the same way as i cant see how we can do much with the kop allthough i allways thought the corners could of been worked on a bit better,
Any thoughts anyone.

martin p

Buy a bigger Lego set - problem solved lol

Think the pitch will turned 90 degrees and the Centenary Stand moved back and become the New Kop and existing Kop and Anfield road extended to the length of the pitch.

Wow, you're great a banter Melbourne CFC. Just face the facts, when Roman gets bored your club will be back to where it belongs mid table mediocrity. Say what you like about us, we certainly are improving and will win more trophies than you this season, with a younger squad. I'm sure when the summer comes around you can sign some of are fringe players who have scored against you in the past, mabye Aurellio. You can never by history, 5 Champions Leagues/European Cups and 18 leagues you will never achieve this, keep fooling yourself in believing you're a big club, we all know its not true.
JFT96
Smithy

Pool are the epitome of mid table mediocrity - there'll be nobody battering down your door to sign anyone

Mate you lot ARE mid table mediocrity. Thats what Liverpool now stands for. How many sort after cups have you won recently? How many league titles have you won recently? When was the last time you played CL football? You havent even come close to challenging the top 4 for 2 seasons now and you are only falling further behind. You spent $100m on a bunch of muppets.

You Will Never Walk With The Elite Clubs Again

Melbourne CFC

Hey Melbourne,
Our Manager has won more than your entire club cobber. Stick that in your billabong and smoke it.
The Real KB

No, we spent like 45m. Most transfers were covered with sales. So mate, go back to your austrailian league.

Ha billabong very clever. You manager since returning has got you to 7 points behind 4th in first full season and a mickey mouse cup, maybe an achievement in your eyes, which proves my point all the more. He only managed to send you towards improvement (debatable) because you were not capable of getting worse (debatable).

I'm not even going to bother you are so far gone that you fail to even defend the fact 2 people in a row have named you mid table mediocrity.

Melbourne CFC

Ii bet you'd take the carling cup right now if you could Melborne cfc i dont be telling lies that you wouldnt want it.
k-h

Who's your manager again Melbourne ?

I hate the term micky mouse cup, it silverware for f sake!

Whats it like being spanked at home twice by a mediocre team Melbourne??

People seem to forget that if we sell Suarez, we will not be able to attract quality to our club. He is a massive asset to the team. I feel like next season, if we sign someone like Ramirez, he will really bloom with some more creativity in the team!

17 Mar 2012 08:43:53
Its interesting that you say kelly will replace johnson next season. I think that kelly is a far better all round player than johnson anyway and is a better defender than johnson. Johnson wastes an awful lot of ball and for me doesnt cut enough crosses because he fails to read the winger.

So he will be backup to kelly? Do they think flanagan is ready to have more playing time or will liverpool sign a utility player that can play in a few positions?

Cheers
mighty reds

Play Johnson at rb and Kelly rm, no need to buy a defender then, concentrate on buying a striker first, see what is needed then
JayB

My opinion of it is that Johnson will be allowed to leave, Kelly will take his place and flanno as back up, another option would be to bring in a replacement and move Kelly to CB which was his natural position. But we shall see

Jeez Ed I am quite surprised by you, usually very fair but its a little frustrating that all the dribble your boys posts on everyones sites getS posted without any problem but when someone has an opinion from outside Liverpool it doesn't get a look in. I know the boys on the site enjoy dishing it out and are capable of taking it so its a little confusing.

Nothing I said was rude at all, nothing derogatory or controversial and yet it gets screened.

Really appreciate all the work you guys volunteer to the site, as without you it couldnt work, but disappointing you screen legitimate replies as to not upset the LFC fans.

Melbourne CFC {Ed001's Note - give it a rest and stop whining. Your posts were all posted, none of us live on your time, we do sleep you know!}

Apologies Ed. As I said do really appreciate the work you do.

Melbourne CFC {Ed001's Note - no worries, we just can't be here 24 hours a day unfortunately, though 002 doesn't sleep, she just waits.}

And i was of the impression all Ed002 did was get divorced and re-married.

Melbourne CFC {Ed002's Note - And takes flights hence my disappearance.}

I hope we make a move for david villa or moussa dembele villa wud giv us our goals for nxt season and i jus like dembele i think he will get better aswel STEMLOCC

Luuk de Jong is better option. I hope, he'd be our striker in the summer. YNWA

De jong's a good player, but i hope we go the extra mile n sign a top striker like soldado or higuain.
Indian Buzzer

Extra mile? This isn't cross country, we don't go the extra mile regarding transfers. It's either they want to come, or they don't.

So where is the £60M coming from? Suaraz would be a lot of that FSN might look badly on de suarez situition and get rid just a thaught ps torres did not look a happy chap on wed he dont look happy at chelski Hmmm i'd have him back

I dont get why anyone would want him back - he's been really poor for 2 years and has lost that yard of pace since his injury. Why would he be any better in our team? You may as well wish for Traore back as well.

{Ed016's Note - I dunno, every time I saw Traore's name on the team sheet I got more anxious than when I see Charlie Adams playing}

What makes u think he'll be happy here? he is unhappy himself. get over him

Kaizer

Who's Charlie Adams ??

Matty b

He meant charlie adam's matty, bloody hell. i remember when everyone werent sure if his name had an s at the end, they didnt realise the s can sometimes be short for is, other words too.

Im sure the Ed meant "Charlie Adam's"

dannybhoy

U wanted nolan n carrol? Ur only half the manager kenny is. he signed one troll, u wanted two of them.

I see that u have bhoy in your name must be a celtic fan

So u want 2 strikers? R
40m each. Still buy any carroll to place on the bench. Play nolan and bench Suarez?

please stop! the same people who were probobly calling for benitez to leave now are crying for him back. our club is now only just recovering from the end of his time here. our players lacked passion and the camp clearly looked glum. now the players love the manager and play for him. our squad has now lost the deadwood from benitez rein. benitez singed about 50 flops. kenny has singed 1, possibly 2. our football is better and the future is bright. benitez had 6 seasons. kenny has had one. a double at the end of the season is stil on so put your faith in him

You really need to think before you type.  Rafa brought us silverware, created arguably the best Liverpool team of the last 20 years (2008/9) and would have moved the team on to the next level if he had more support from his Chief Exec and did not work under the ownership of the two clowns.  And his transfer activity actually returned a net positive to the club, so no, he did not sign flops!  Torres a flop?  Pepe a flop? And I bet you've noticed how good Skrtel and Lucas are now (you probably trashed them a few seasons back!) What you have typed seriously angers me.  Did you not celebrate the successes of 2005 or 2006? And  how close we came again in 2007? And the return of the great European nights at Anfield?  Our best premiership campaign in 2008/9?  Seriously, show some respect and gratitude.

Sir Masher

Aqualani(20mil), voronin, deggen, dossenna(bout 8 mil), all flops to name a few. said it befor thanks raffa for what u did for us but i think we would be taking a step back if raffa came back. stick with king kenny!!...redman matt

Spot on people seem to forget it was Raffa that turned us into a genuine force in Europe again

------------Reina

Kelly Carragher Skrtel Enrique

Kuyt Henderson Adams Downing
------------Gerrard
Carroll

five in midfield and one upfront. We can play rafa old system. Gerrard would love to run around the pitch. Henerson and Adams should play deeper and more compact on the convert attack. do we really need to start with Luis

Spearing vital to provide Stevie's freedom to roam. I think that's pretty clear by now.
ND

Why are people still calling him adams??? its adam and he not done anything since he has been here

ADAM! not Adams...
Phooey

Why do some people insist on putting an 's' at the end of charlie adam's name?? his name is CHARLIE ADAM!!!!!! drives me mad!!!!!
darsco1

Leave Charlie Adam on the bench PLEASE. Spearing needed behind Stevie while Lucas is out.
KJS

Well perhaps that extra s on his name means he should be among the Substitutes. lolz. :)

I'd go 4-3-3 with Downing and Suarez either side of Carroll. Three in middle of Gerrard on right, Henderson left and Spearing deep centre.

Hi eds if you don't mind answering what do you think the transfer budget will be this summer I would of thought with new sponsorship and with the way the team has preformed e.g. Carling cup win possible fa cup and qualifying for Europa, that the club would want to invest heavily what do you think? also just thinking from previous seasons recently that we have always been given at least 20m every transfer window even in jan and as we did not buy a big name in the jan window do you expect that the board will give us more to spend in the summer e.g 60m or will the board just come to a reasonable figure and not blow the lot on a player that has potential in another team but will never score more than 20 goals for us before being sold on to the highest bidder? Thanks eds {Ed001's Note - it won't work like that, a lot will depend on how much is needed for the stadium, a lot will depend on the right players being available too. But it won't be a set budget as such.}

Why does everyone have a issue with kenny dalglish. I don't understand the fans issue with him as our manager. why do fans want him out? I see him as our version of Newcastle Kevin Keegan relationship.

I would support Kenny Dalgish & liverpool even if we got relegated. He is our version of Alex Ferguson, some jobs just fit. I really can't see anyone else managering the club.

Graeme Souness was a idiot, Roy Evans was really nice guy like a father figure. Gérard Houllier; I stopped supporting during his time at the club, our team was rubbish and very foreign. Rafael Benítez; I wasn't bothered until we won champions league. It was amazing stuff.

Leave Kenny Dalgish to carry on with the job. We need better players not a better manager.

I hope kenny is given time. you cant expect him to be making miracles after what? about a season and a bit in charge. the team despite our position on the table is much better than under woy
NZL_red

Our average squad age is younger and the team has only been thrusted togather about 10 monts ago the understanding wiill improve. we were without our 2 sstartin mf gerrard and lucas still not to mention suarez 8 match ban. i think we're okay for now

Never stopped supporting the club whether i liked the manager or not. Souness was a disaster. If he had taken Cantona when offered where would Man Utd be? Evans I really liked. Restored pride and the lfc way as KK is doing. Unlucly not to have won the league ......personally I blame the disruptive no all that is Stan. A completelty wasted talent in my view, he could have been great but wasted it. Supported Houlier at the beginning but disapointed by his later years. C**p football tactics. Rafa.....well good in Instanbul but rescued by Didi and di that with Houlliers squad. Never turned us into a UK Valencia which I thought he would. Too political for me but still love the guy.

Let's get of KK's back and support him. We need a period of development and have made great strides so far in my view. We play much more attractive footy than under Roy and even Rafa. Patience, it will come!

Iggypop

With the houllier stuff: Our team wasn't that foreign! We had Owen, Gerrard, Heskey, Carragher, Jamie Redknapp all in the squad. He did great in bringing through players which none of our recent managers managed to do apart from Kenny who brought through Martin Kelly, Flanagan, Spearing and Robinson. I am sure there will be more to come through as well.

BthekingB

"Gerard Houllier; I stopped supporting during his time at the club" Some fan you are! True supporters Live, breathe and die for the club..... Go and support Chavski, we dont need fans like you!
