We are going to lose Suarez if we do not put quality around him. Yes it worked very well today but we need more players who are known for their link up play so he stays because if we are not challenging this season I am 90% sure he will leave.

BthekingB

Try to just enjoy todays performance and goals. Let Brendan Rodgers worry about incoming and outgoing players. "A positive supporter is a happy supporter!"

You should worry about that after jan of we haven't bought in any forwards. Until then be patient and accept the fact that Suarez just signed a new contract, and has voiced his commitment to this club. Plus we won't sell him unless we get £50+mill.

Not saying there is any truth in this Torres guff, which is exactly that, but interesting nevertheless to see his 'celebration' of Hazard's goal. He just walks up glum faced, wraps his hands round edens head then as the rest of his 'team'mates appear to celebrate he finds the shortest route out of the crowd. They are all smiles and celebrating year and a half for us. Just saying like, think he will beat a hasty retreat back to Espana myself, although for what it is worth I would probably take him back to see him line up with Suarez and Stevie. Oh and now Sterling. And Suso. And Enrique. And Shelvey. And...

There's no going back. Torres best days are behind him. He was sulking today? He did exactly the same at Liverpool towards the end. Thing with Torres is? It's everyone's fault bar his? That's his personality.
I wouldn't like to see him back here and can't really believe the people that matter would.
kidmillions

I agree on all your points.
I am allowed to dream though, that he would come back and be brilliant and score loads for us.
To be fair I think if he used the opposition penalty spot as his starting point and never moved more than about 20 yards from that point and let Suarez/Sterling do all the running and intricate tricky stuff outside the box then all he would need to do is concentrate on poaching goals and I think he could do that and be fairly prolific again. But Like I said originally, think he will prolly be on the first EasyJet back to Spain.

Hi Everyone!
I think Enrique playing left wing is a quality idea with Johnson at left back... It allows Johnson to get forward even more he got back 3-4 times to save Johnson's arse today when Johnson was court upfield...he can obviously improve his game a bit, but I think Rodgers has masterd something out of nothing here!

YNWA

Praise one player but have a sly dig at another in the same breath:( Johnson was excellent again, don't know what game you were watching.

Where's Melbourne today??

Devon Red

I think it's still in Australia mate. Not aware it's gone anywhere anyway

Clever. you'll be Sidney, right?

Now that's funny!

Right here Devon. Unlike you fickle fans, I don't run and hide when my side is beaten. Not to mention we have taken 2 points in 12 and still sit 3rd. Pretty content actually.

Melbourne CFC

Shame considering your sitting so pretty things try of the Plastics state calling for Di Matteo's head.
And after what he did with a bunch of ol codgers ad well. No Chelsea fans are not fickle eh?
Ps seen your comment about Falcao begin the best forward on the world, wrong because our Suarez is better.
JohnBoy

A Chelsea fan calling us fickle?! What has the world come too!?
AnfieldUSA

If you have been on the Chelsea page John, you will also seem me venting my frustration at the fickleness of the no name posters on there as well. What was it those old codgers achieved last year again?

Suarez is not the best striker in the world, he merely looks good in a team of half wits. He is having a purple patch, but what will happen when he gets suspended? I fear you are this years Arsenal. A one man team. Only your one man will not save you from mid table mediocracy.

Melbourne CFC

Hey, give us a billionaire and we'll win the premier league too.

John W Henry's net worth as of March 2012 was estimated at $1.1b.

You sure have given everyone else in the league a head start this year. I enjoy watching your mind boggling rise to the title.

Melbourne CFC

Just double checked and as of September 2012, his net worth was revised. It is now $1.5b. No excuses now boys!

Great performance by all today I thought. Stand outs for me were Suarez, Enrique and Hendo.

Sterling heavly involve in two of the three goals, come to think of it all three forwards were involved in two of the three goals, except Mr.Suarez that is who was involved in all three.

17 Nov 2012 21:08:52
Eds.Good performance tday solid 2nd half with some impressive displays by sterling, suerez, hendo, wisdom,Enrique, we must Keep this run goin atleast 5 more wins by Jan plse shld put Us 3maybe4 points off 4th come ön.ynwa

Honestly i thought second half we had 11 MoM players. Skrtel and Agger looked collosal at the back. Johnson and Wisdom were quick and were looking to get forward a lot. Saw a few times that Allen picked up a loose ball and play very quick first touch passes, so under-rated by many fans, i don't get it. Gerrard played several great long balls, Sterling and Enrique don't need to say much, we all saw it, really got at the Wigan defence and must have been a nightmare to play against. Suarez, i don't think there are enough words to sum up his skill, that pass from Sterling was pretty far behind him, yet he still adjusted his body to get the shot in, when i honestly didn't think it was on. But for me the biggest plus was Henderson, maybe that spell out of the team his lit a fire in his belly, he chased everywhere for that ball. His hunger to chase Wigan down seemed to make the whole team up their effort.

Brendan Rodgers has to take huge credit today for me, realised we weren't getting at Wigan early doors and wasn't afraid to make a tactical change 1st half. Same as against Chelsea last week, for me he is demonstrating he is clearly up to the job. It's great to see the team have more than one option, when we have additional firepower up front hopefully those options will multiply considerably.

All around well done lads. Anyone know how the U18's got on today versus Chelsea?

ChrisE {Ed002's Note - Lost 2-1}

top job today for the win, very very pleased,

17 Nov 2012 20:59:08
everyone talks about daglish bad signings but they forget he was the one who brought in saurez and enrique. i think this is rodgers shortcoming he was too busy banishing dalgish players without bringing in good ones to replace them.

Mate I'm not sure you're right. Hendo, Enrique and Suarez were great today, but it is rare for Enrique and Henderson to be that good. Don't forget Downing and Carroll!!! Both FSG and KK were naive. But hey, £50 million for Torres was great.
Cheers,
RedHead

Don't forget Hendo who had a cracking game today

cozinoz

Im sorry but Dalglish would never have put Enrique as a left winger. That switch was masterful by Rodgers he also played 4-4-2 which I really hate and he played Hendo on the right. Dalglish would be great for the academy but as a manager he really wasn't up to scratch in this modern game.

BthekingB

Dont think KD brought in Suarez, he was already lined up before he returned.

Reina...7.5; Had little to do by way of saves
Wisdom...8.5; Making RB his own. Super game
Skrtel...8.0; Some important tackles, solid
Agger...8.0; Played well until subbed by Carra
Johnson....7.5; A few good touches, solid enough
Allen...8.0; Can't understand the stick he gets.
Gerrard...7.5; Needs better delivery at times
Suso...6.5; Subbed after 35mins. OK though
Enrique...8.5; Played LM and was a revelation !!
Sterling...8.5; Best attacking display so far.
Suarez...9.0; Typical Luis display. Very special
Henderson(sub)...8.5; M.O.M. contender !
Carragher(sub)...7.5; Came on late. Solid
Shelvey(sub)...7.0; Little lime to shine up top

A deserved (and welcome) 3-0 home win.
Another game of two contrasting halves with the second very, very much better.
The crowd were vocalised by some excellent play at times but we need to get more players in the box.
If we could improve our set-pieces we'd be right up there!
Credit to BR for fitting Wisdom,Johnson and Enrique into the same team....Enrique had a goal and an assist from Left Midfield !
Henderson was excellent when he came on for young Suso.

ANFIELDPETE

Bit generous there my friend, you cant get a 7.5 rating after playin for 10 minutes!

why does everyone say its gonna take rodgers time he has to build while west brom has a new coach and he can get results right away. i have no confidence in rodgers.

Why the negativity, rogers has a philosophy that could serve us for decades, clarke is a now man.

Lil Red

Because Rodgers plays in away as u shud be aware of cant exactly be done quickly that side of it will take time be patient looking in at Liverpool he probably thought the squad wasn't to bad but now he's worked with these players close up realises they just can't adapt to his way of playing cole downing Carroll Adam spearing. Just give the man a chance he's not be backed to full capacity in the transfer market yet he's only had 1 transfer window for god sake. Now as I said he knows what's needed give him this season to bed the players into a new way of playing with the signing that can play his way then judge him after that.he's had bad injuries to players been Forced to play teenagers. He's done a solid job so far. Hodgson laid the foundations with WBA Clarke has done a great job though

There was once a time when Hull City were where west brom are at this point of the season...they got relegated that same season.

See the bigger picture to what we are building towards

Rogers has my support coz his trying to get liverpool playing in the right way, people talk about tika taka, the phrase is over used and extremely annoying, its nothing new it's total football, the best Liverpool teams played pass and move with absolute possession by the time our opposition got the ball they were to tired to do anything it's footballing ropa-dope, this is how Liverpool used to play, I can't understand how anyone would be against a manager trying to emulate this again, Rogers is trying to get us playing Liverpool, so I'll get behind him and hope our owners do the same. This does need time its not just a formation its a mindset it's altering players understand of the game it's as much mental as it is physical, our kids are taking to this easier coz its the way they've been taught, I believe there will be another "wave" of young talents with this mindset. Liverpool as club have a promising future I hope Rogers is part of that. Leem

Rogers style is what lets us down when he changes to a less passing game we look good

Just like to say well done to Annie Road end today, thought they gave the kop a run for their money with their singing/support for the team. Also thought we played well against a good footballing team especially when hendo came on.

Red1

Yes mate, it was a great atmosphere 2nd half in that end today. Anyone else get involved with the jonjo shouts? Simsimo

I sit in the Paddock quite near the away/Annie Rd. End and I thought at first the heightened noise was from the away fans as usual. Seems the Annie Roaders have found their voice.
It had a positive effect. El Habsi (Wigan keeper) kept looking back to see what the noise was...not used to it,I suppose !
The whole crowd was lifted because we clicked 2nd half.
We need a similar up-beat atmos on Thursday against Rent Boys 'cos the Mickey Mouse Cup of Europe can be a good thing.
ANFIELDPETE

Jonnnnnnnnn-jooooooo

Would of capped it off nicely had he scored at the death!

On another note..i think its time to 'luis suarez...he scores when he wants' made an appearance on the kop

For whatever reason the eds did not submit my reply to Jonnyboy earlier, so her goes again.

Your reply to my post was personnel and not factual and yet you are allowed to post your comments...mmm

I merely pointed out that I made a call and was man enough to admit it. Enrique has openly admitted that his form this season has been nowhere near where it should be, BR himself publicly came out and criticised both Enrique and Downing 2 weeks ago about how they both haven't performed to the expected standard this season.

Last weeks game against Chelsea was the FIRST time this season that Enrique has played well FACT...

The first half today was dire, the game was crying out for a change, BR did what he does best and got the team to come out second half and up the tempo and the rest is history.

I could have picked any of our midfielders to make way for something different, I chose Enrique that's it as I explained my readon earlier.

It's clear from the agrees and disagrees that my thoughts are welcomed and yours are not.

17 Nov 2012 20:17:23
Great to see everyone happy with the win today. You could see the confidence flooding back through the entire team after the 2nd goal. Suarez does what he does, Enrique gave us a powerful presence higher up the pitch which really impressed. Special mention for Henderson who was excellent when he came on, give that lad his due he never hides and always gives 100% think a bit of time on the sidelines is actually helping him to reflect and focus on his game. Well done to the Manager for that. Good..onwards and upwards, we just need to be in the mix for top 4 come January and then invest in just the right player or players.

great team performance nd Enrique had good game..Suarez nd sterling as good as always...I thought suso was playing well but Gerard nd Allen sat little back to create gap which was filled by Henderson replacing suso. ..way Rodgers play midfield needs to work in triangle nd Lucas return would help..2 tough away games nd we got to try win them rather the getting draws.. .let's build on performance nd carry on each game without worrying about CL spot as it would only add pressure...

I just want to say the partnership of Jose Enrique and Glen Johnson on the left works!!

When glen in attacking and out of position and the other team is counter attacking Enrique is always there.

No one gets past the left side!

Jose "the Bull" Enrique..!

I've always liked him but sometimes he just did Dumb, Ass, ShhhT.!

BRODGERS has focused on our left-side woes and experimented courageously......
Downing,Johnson,Robinson,Enrique,
Agger, Assaidi, Sterling and Suarez have all been given roles on the left.
Personally, I like that we have choices.
Downing's LB role was a surprise but it seemed to work. BRODGE needs credit for his mixing and matching....Johnson and Enrique worked on the left today.
Downing and Enrique or Agger and Johnson could be as effective. Point is, we're interchangeable now. The left isn't a problem so much now.

Eds,
great performance today, 3 points and we score more than 1 goal.

-Hendo look lively today. With the way he play today, tireless run, closing on player, i think he' s going to be great box2box midfielder with the right guidance.

-Enrique & Glen at the left side pretty gud. we shuld keep this for a couple games, see how it goes.

tqvm eds.

I love how Enrique has just put in two absoloutely brilliant performances and gets man of the match. I've defended him time and time again and got stick for it. You just need to analyse performances a bit better. Enrique is still out first team LB even though we play 5 at the back. One thing I don't understand is the order of the defenders. Is it Enrique--Johnson-- agger--skrtel--wisdom? If so I would rather put Johnson on the right instead of wisdom as he has more experience as a CB whereas Johnson is much better going forward than he is defending. I'm sure others will agree

Enrique played left wing

Sorry OP.

We didn't play 5 at the back - Enrique was on the left of our front 3. Or on the left wing as the guy who replied stated.

Crazy I know.... but this could be the future - prepare yourself.

I do find you saying ' you just need to analyse performances better' when you can't understand our formation a bit laughable.

As for 'Johnson has more experience as a CB than Wisdom'.

That's just mad.

Today did not show that Enrique is a reliable LB - Your view that he is has not been vindicated. He is not a good defender.

But Rodgers may have found a use for him after all. Great shout.

If he keeps this up he could stake his claim to stay. Very impressive working with Johnson (who was at LB) today. His ball-hogging (he is confident with the ball - but takes too many risks in bad areas at LB) and fondness for driving past his man is not such a liability in advanced areas.

In fact, it's pretty handy.

He's bound to get another start there in our next game.

We may have found an attacking option already at the club.

Well done Rodgers - and Jose. He was beast-like today.

4 points away from our closest rivals for a top4 finish arsenal and we havent got going yet! :)
with lucas and maybe 2 attackers joining in the summer and enrique playing as attacker too we can be really threatening now. 2 attacking minded players would vastly improve our squad!
it is all looking good.

Where are all the haters now. 2 Mancherster teams first and second, then 2nd two champions league places are there for the taking.
Arsenal and Chelsea Id be worried about, Newcastle not a chance, tottenham are falling apart, Everton.....maybe but doubtful, West Brom could surprise a few, but likely finish 8th or 9th.
I think we have a very good chance of CL. Other top teams seem to be declining, and we seem to be getting better.
Also, Abromivich will be livid after today. Can see him trying to get in Guardiola in Jan, which should upset Chelsea further. He will also try to sign a forward, which (I know, I know) might free up torres??

We not only beat Wigan today, but we looked like a top team. I absolutely think BR is top class, he has serious balls.

Nice one norwich

I don't like this 'where are the haters now' because if we lose out next match then you'll be the one getting criticised. Just stay level headed and expect to finish around mid table. We are not going to finish 4th. We are bedding in our first season under BR. 8th or higher is a good outcome. Bottom half of the table then expect BR to be sacked. January is an important time for our club in getting settled and brining in players that will actually improve our first team not just the squad. Until that happens people like you need to stay quiet and watch inconsistent results week in week out. Good result today but I can't say that's going to happen for our next game like I could have maybe 4 seasons ago.

Some of the football in the second half was off the scale. Sterling, Enrique and Suarez were superb.

Red Heart

True, but youve got to admit, things are looking alot brighter. Swansea will be a huge test, but BR will have the advantage of knowing both teams well, similar to Steve Clarke on the first day of the season.

It is a must win game though, or else it will be all doom and gloom again.

Daveevad

All good points nameless poster. I would disagree with you on finishing mid table though. The team is improving weekly. I am used to being critisied for my mindless optimism. If you are willing to sign your next post, we should revisit this post at the end of the season and see whos right. Im saying Liverpool will finish at least fifth. I see no reason why we cant.

Good result today

For January I'd be happy with us getting rid of Cole,Henderson and downing.
Getting in huntelaar.

I know that's losing another 3 players , but these are players that are making no impact on the first team what so ever.

Probably save us atleast another 100k a week in wages.

Then in the Sumner add 2-3 quality players.

Sterling for Walcott makes no sense what so ever , sterling will be twice the player Walcott is.

LAVERS

Get rid of Cole and Downing, yes, but Hendo? dont think so

Cole and downing wont go without us contributing to the cut in wages they will have to take. Plus Henderson looked great today. With all the games we will have to play, we will need him. Cole and Downing for the chop though, agreed.

Daveevad

I just don't understand some of you people. Is this your own option or are you just following what other people say? Why would you want to get rid of Henderson? The others I understand but not Henderson. His England's under 21 captain, one of the best Up and coming CMs and you want to get rid. Nice one, clearly you have no idea about football! PJ

I Agree with one above, Hendo looks like a good player who can also fill in other postions and people forget hes still young .. Cole and Downing i have no time for
WarnesTheRed

I do like Henderson I think with confidence he will be good.

It's just shelvey has got in front of him and with Lucas coming back , how much game time will Henderson get.

LAVERS

Henderson is already good and offers a lot more than Sahin and perhaps Shelvey, although they play slightly dirrent roles. I'd rather keep Henderson and pay 15m for Sahin. PJ

In terms of savings, Cole on £100k, Downing on £60-70k - which equates to over half a mil a month or £6 mil a year - so would make total sense to let these 2 and Caroll and Spearing to also go which could be another 3 mil in wages - let alone some of the transfer fees.

17 Nov 2012 18:07:28
My word!! rodgers should explain why hendo doesn't play more games..such a hardworker his link up play is better than allen to me,..compared to that lazy sahin..to be honest I was getting scared, cos wigan were really confident on the ball..it was already feeling like one of those days in the first half..those enrique haters would be quiet now...where would we be without you suarez..

I after hold my hands up today in my earlier post today I suggested BR should take off Enrique and replace him with Shelvey to liven the second half up. More fool me, Enrique had a good second half and the goal was good to see too.

I'm not Enriques biggest admirer by a long way, but I'm not afraid to give credit where credit is due so "well done Enrique today. But Enrique still has a long way to go before he gets anywhere near the form he showed which got him his move to Anfield in the first place.

On another point very good to see Reina back today...

Curled1

Always a but with asse holes like yourself. Instead of just praising a top performance by Enrique and admitting your want. Folks like yourself who constantly moan during the game, thinking you have all the answers prove what you really know by suggesting we take off one of or close to being our outstanding players today.
Also your dig at the end of your lame 'try and save face post' were you tell us all Enrique has a long way to go to get back to how he once played is rubbishe. He is playing as well as then, I suggest he keeps this current form up.
JohnBoy

Is this the same Johnboy mouthing of last week about calling posters names?

17 Nov 2012 21:49:30
Thing is back tracker, is that you made a blunder and you couldn't try and adjust it quick enough. And instead of just praising Enrique you had to stick a but after it and try and justify what you did.
I really don't come on here to get a ton of agrees, it really don't bother me unlike yourself. And for the name calling, don't act like one and you wont get called it. Now wipe them tears away and stop crying boo hoo.

Just wondered if ab tarabbat is available or a target? {Ed002's Note - Taarabt was of interest to several clubs last season and interest remains from Napoli and Dortmund. It has also been suggested taht Arsenal would be interested in taking Taarabt to the Emirates but I think such a move is unlikely in January.}

Well, it's been a while since I've written anything here, partly because the whingers have turned me off this great site sadly. I checked in today to see the response to a good win, and on scrolling down the page I find moans which are so ridiculous I was moved to write.
What has happened to our famous 'support'? I'm shocked and actually ashamed by what seems to pass a supporter these days. How are we ever supposed to move forward as a united club if fans like these keep whining about every single thing. I couldn't believe what I was reading, with the game at 0-0, people asking if Rodgers got it 'horribly wrong' from the start today, that taking suso off for Henderson somehow shows he's a terrible manager. Well, so called 'fans' from what I gather, it was actually a masterstroke, giving us more control and drive in the game, particularly in the second half. Just as with Chelsea last week, a tactical change by Rodgers put us in the game and in control. How many times in the rafa years did we moan about a manager who wouldn't change his tactics until it was too late?!
Just stick with it, we are playing well, we need a couple of players yes, but we are doing well and I think we are the verge of good times IF we support the team and the manager. Just stop moaning trolls, go and support someone else if you have no patience. QPR are in need, go there, they've spent lots of money....

The captain

Nail, head and all that. Good post The captain. Time and patience is needed but it looks like it's coming around slowly and surely.

''Our famous support'' shouldn't be judged solely on the basis of what is typed or read on the Internet on sites such as this one, or even the official LFC website.

Apart from the obvious good performances i have to say Henderson was absolutely excellent, he should honestly be given more game time in the prem, okey he had a bad mis LOL but his overall play was very good!

Teach him some composure and we have a serious player in my eyes.

Lol, yeah I see hendo becoming another lucas, shaky start abused by persons then loved by all, loving Roger's decision making, his not afraid of making changes early and it usually works, its just shows his tactical awareness to read a game, Suso for Hendo, brilliant decision, as much has Hendo is growing so is Rogers. Every manger makes at least one player a better footballer, and I think Rogers will have an impact on many. I haven't posted in a while but I'm glad to see our real fans getting behind our manager and the club, Leem

17 Nov 2012 17:30:38
Will you guys just stop moaning at each other, it's like we all support different teams at the moment!

Everyone has their own opinion about how this season is going, some people think we should sit tight and wait for the wins to come, some people think we need a drastic change. Some people think sacking Buck would solve our problems, some people think a new striker, some people think new owners, a different formation, benching Stevie etc, but what we all have in common is that we all want our beloved team to WIN!

Everyone's knowledge is on a different level, admittedly I have a good knowledge of the sorts of players needed, but not such a great undersanding of formations, so I never bother mentioning it, but do we have to lay into each other over someone making a suggestion that others don't agree with?

When we lose you have the anti-Rodgers told you so brigade on the warpath, when we win we have everyone else told you so-ing away, it's pathetic!

Can we all just enjoy the win please? None of us individually being optimistic or pessimistic is going to have the slightest impact on the season. Rodgers and the owners will do what they feel is best and if it doesn't work we will move on and try something else. The people going to the games need to keep supporting and singing their hearts out for our team.

We all know we are having a bad time of it, i dont think anyone is happy with our situation right now, but instead of getting at each other, can we just respect each others opinions and support our team as a united front?

Great win today guys, very happy with 3 points :-)

Super

Great post fella, I sit in the upper centenary though and you can here a pin drop up there most games, I would like to see all sides of the ground singing but it wont happen sadly. Couldn't agree more with your post, the for and against knee jerk fans can't wait to say I told you so to each other either way when a result goes for there argument, why not shut up and see were we are at the end of the season.

Waro

I don't get it, how will sacking another manager fix anything. think about it we will then have to go through another half a transfer window looking for a coach and then another squad clear out and all before rodgers has even had time to settle himself. We are going the right direction and another top striker can make a huge difference. we probobly need another midfielder too, hopefully heno has more stormers like that i have always remeined adament that he can be a great player for us. He still has a fair way to go but fingers crossed

just seen all the results from the PL.

i am made up that Liverpool have won today hopefully we can go on a run now.

Just a quick question. why was suso taken of so early in the game. was he having one?

It was just a tactical switch. Suso was playing quite well.

Bbc said he'd taken a knock on the ankle mate

17 Nov 2012 17:28:27
Gareth BAle who ? Enrique's the man..
On another note, if we do get Walcott to replace Downing and a striker for Carroll I think we would have a pretty decent overall squad..

17 Nov 2012 17:26:30
Suarez,Sterling,Johnson and Enrique will get the plaudits but when Jordan Henderson came on he looked very good and got a bit of confidence, unlike last season, Great change by Brenden!

sell Henderson a right the young man is going to be amazing

No he will not , he is very fit and runs around like a marathon sprinter but his overall control , heading , and shooting is below what a good player needs.

"overall control"??any idea who holds the record for most keepy uppys with a TENNIS ball in the squad?you guessed it,Jordan Henderson

Got to say Sterling is great but in a few years this kid is going to be something special..a master at work.

Good player glad we have him but very little end product

You sound like a bitter toffee..Did you not see the kid make Suarez first goal?

Ronaldo had very little end product in his early years

The tactical switch in the first half was necessary and worked well. I have two concerns about it though. First I thought Suso was very influential, assuming there was no injury. Second, if it was a tactical switch, does that imply that Rodgers got it horribly wrong from the start? Thought Suarez was fantastic as usual and Allen really woke up from his slump in that second half.

Rafa initially got it wrong in istanbul. that's what managers should be able to do, influence the game with changes.

unbelievable some people?!

s.p

We look good when we pass it around less.

Why not praise his brilliant tactical switch?
derryred

To say or ask the question about the managers tactics is no disrespect to the manager, he is young and learning, sometimes the tactics will be over zealous, other times lacking cohesion and hopefully most of the time, just right.

Rodgers himself said the other day in an interview that tactics don't really count unless the players implement them correctly on the field of play, although i paraphrase.

He's young and mistakes will happen and ''getting it wrong'' is a part of learning about the game that is..football. Whether it's a missed spot kick in the F.A Cup first round or World Cup final, or an off time tackle that ends up with the flash of a red card, or a horrendous moment of madness from a goal keeper which is illuminated via the mass media and on a shocking keepers compilation DVD's for Christmas stocking fillers, or even the cliche stubborn manager and his archaic tactics, or in are case a continental approach of playing of sorts.

Criticism is healthy and that is important. The media highlighted that no one ran over and celebrated with Suarez after his goal against Chelsea. Well today i saw players running the 40 and 50 yards to celebrate and taste what winning feels like and it looks to have blown the cobwebs away, hopefully we take this forward into Europe and then put the dampeners on Swansea's lullaby.

The manager won't know if he has got his tactics correct until the teams start playing and he can view the opposition's formation and tactics. Only then can he tweak his team accordingly.
Great tweaking Brendon

Great result! Well done to the gaffer for bringing on Hendo to take back the midfield just as Wigan was dominating. Sterling and Suarez were outstanding, but MOTM has to be Enrique. Jose might, I say might end up being our player of season on this form. Glad we beat the mighty Wigan. Also I believe we have 97million this winter to spend so expect Huntlear Cavani Torres Walcott Owen Heskey and Fowler to all be snapped up. Many thanks and keep the faith. This time next year we will be leading the way in prem. We are not getting a striker this winter! Stop with those silly rumors.
We we'll probably get a winger like Walcott that can play forward and wing.
And maybe 1-2 experienced players.

We will get a Striker, it's a PRIORITY.

I have a conspiracy that if man city are linked to suarez they will have to chuck tevez into the deal or there wont be a deal done

That's more like it, I knew we were going to punish someone soon. Now we need to go on a run of wins now and get back up the table where we belong. Oh and who still thinks we need to sell Enrique, as he is getting quite an understanding with Suarez right now and think he came pretty close to the MOTM today?

Fair enough, the first half was poor, but surely that isn't helped by such a flat, quiet atmosphere from the crowd.
What's going on?. It's been that way for a fair few years now.
Are most of the seats now filled with neutrals that don't really care who wins?
Where's the famous atmosphere? - as most away fans sing at us nearly every game now?

Yeah i was shocked but i think that me and my friends out sang the kop last season it was so flat. There was a small section singing but mostly fat persons sitting on their aniii
derryred

The problem with atmosphere at Anfield is, rising prices of tickets are too much for a lot of the die hard local fans and their seats are being filled with travelling fans, who support Liverpool but not the same as the older generation.

Bobbinred

Is it also that things are so tense right now because of our unreliable home form and it is not until we get on top that throats are cleared and the fans relax a bit? Being on the otherside of the planet means you can not fully understand these things like a local. Great win, made up for the lads. Way too early to get too excited however I like where we are heading. Good to see us get a clean sheets and for the scoreline to reflect the performance, a good Rodgering. If we can get on a decent run now, who knows as it is a very tight league. A couple of wins on the trott and you can jump places quickly.

hello to all supporters, eds and Macca.
I have been away for a while. I think the negativity on here got a little much for me to take...and then the whole carroll leaving without replacement was a blow also.
Anyhow, good to be back. I have had a look through the last day of threads but wondered if suarez going in eds opinion is likely?
I'm guessing not and i know mancini says he is not interested etc etc, but i get feeling they are but think rodgers would only let him slip for silly money.

Hope he stays though

Saurez is class and its great to just witness a truly special player but Enrique looked immense for me and looks like we might of found a position for him. I knew he was strong and quick but he sure reminded me of these attributes today. In this position there is less defensive responsibilities, which I feel he enjoys as he gets to bomb forward and create chances. Good result today lets just see out December and hopefully we can grind out more results until January where we can buy another forward.

SuarezLFC

I did like the Johnson/Enrique combo. Options going forward and covered each other well at the back. Hopefully Enrique can continue his improvement over the last two games. Hendo was also very good. I think the lesson here is that we need to relax and watch for a while before writting some people off. Some will never come good, but lets not get too hasty with our criticism.

17 Nov 2012 17:50:19
Nice to have you back Macca, it's Wigan but you can only beat what is in front of you!

The first half was dire mate absolute fodder but what annoys me more from a semi pro's point of view is these players in training probably look like world beaters and for me it's all based on cofidence, i.e Henderson in an England shirt looks calm composed and talented yet for Liverpool he looks a wreck! today he showed when you just do the simple things right pass and move into space, make sure your pass gets there it's an easy game, this also applied to Sterling Luis and Enrique who really makes my blood boil sometimes with his barging challeneges in unessecery areas costing us but overall it was just nice to see us doing the stuff that lets be frank here average players at other clubs do week in week out.

Just to leave you on a positive I think like most teams 3 or 4 players usually r central to most sets of play and raise the whole teams game so I do only think with shrude policy in the market whether that be in Jan or the summer can settle us down and improve our position whilst taking us onto the next level of player.

Hope for some interesting news Macca in the near future, stay healthy

What are you talking about

A win against Wigan is not the promised land

C'mon man, this was a game against many-years relegation zone team.

There is more optimism now, for sure, but don't get too happy, keep analyzing and sensibly criticizing, nothing achieved yet, it was just a Wigan.

Yes! Thankyou you have given me hope that not every single person on here is literally as thick as a plank except the eds they actually talk sense

Yes but didn't we lose last season to them? Aren't the readings, wigans norwichs etc the teams we couldn't beat? A good 3 points, clean sheet and performances from the reds so cheer up a little.

mozzilfc

The same Wigan who beat spurs at white heart land 2 weeks ago like? Fool

JJ

Yes , its not the promised land, but Wigan have been a boogie team for us for few seasons now .. I good win and few goals at home.Enjoy it ffs.

Roy

Why? Because we managed to beat Wigan 3-0 at Anfield? Well i'm sorry but that's just a minimum requirement for Liverpool to beat the likes of Wigan when at home.

Especially when we have a team consisting of Gerrard, Reina, Agger, Skrtel, Suarez and Glen Johnson. Not withstanding our very talented youth players, such as Suso, Sterling and Wisdom and the steady Ed Joe Allen who is improving everyday and Jose ''the headless'' Enrique, who got a goal today by following up young Raheem's shot and set up Suarez with a lovely through ball.

I hope we win the next three games against Young Boys and away to both Swansea and Tottenham, obviously Tottenham are a solid outfit now and we'll need to be sharp to beat them at their ground, but their manager is tactically unsound i believe.

Europa Cup is vital to our squad's progression. Liverpool benefited immensely from the Uefa cup run in 2001 which saw the team later conquer Euopre's Champions League four years later, using the right blend of experience and youth, it only bodes well for the future.

It's all useful stitches over and in time, 6 points in the League over the next two League games i believe will put us right back in the hunt for 4th place before December starts and we play Southampton on the 1st, which i presume ahead of time we will be successful in that match before the Udinese away and then WestHam away which i believe wil;l be a tough physical Stoke like encounter, knowing big Sam's tactics at any rate. So that's away in Italy on the 6th and then in London on the 9th of December.

This month coming up is crucial in my mind because of the timing, success in December will put us right back in the Champions League mix, with a chance of strengthening in January to help fight and push on and upwards on what we have already.

We are on 15 points and trail West Brom in 4th place on 23 points. If Arsenal or Tottenham slip up again, they'll be looking up the table like we have had to, Newcastle are now below us, so if a real push is made and focus being a key factor is kept highly concentrated like a laser beam, then i think Rodgers and team are in a good position.

But if people want to have a dig during a dreadful start to the campaign then i think they should be able to. Without having to be ''ashamed of themselves''. Having opinions and sharing them is part of life. We can't all agree, we aren't all hopeful and people show their support in many a different way.

I'm not a robot, if 10 people look left, i glance to the right, it's what keeps me on my toes. If i see or read something i disagree with, then i'll say it and not feel ashamed. I hope other do the same, as that's being honest. Using your logic, you should feel ashamed of judging your fellow fans critical nature. Critical thinking is a very good thing.

Ha ha, your not a robot, at least we know you talk gash cause you were looking the wrong way when a bus was coming. Did you read that or make out up? Either way it put a rubbish eating grin on my face.

17 Nov 2012 16:11:24
Now I will openly admit that I am not a fan of Rodgers (talks a good game but as yet has failed to deliver), but he is our manager so I support him, but will the owners support him?

Everybody states that he needs to be given time and I would agree, but more important then time is first team level improvement - the owners simply have to invest, or they may as well put up the white flags and declare mediocrity for the remainder of their tenure.

Has there been a more dour and turgid 45 minutes of "football" played at Anfield in recent years - gee we are average, and as such the crowd is so quiet ...if this keeps up they will be issuing razor blades with every ticket.

Well u mUst feel abit silly having just watched us score three goals. But im sure BR had nothing to do with it in your eyes

Spot on mate

Rodgers is a lame duck

We've played some great football this season, and anyone who disagrees hasn't been watching.

Our squad is crammed full of kids from the academy, something that you could not have dreamt off two seasons ago, and with a bit of luck this season e.g the everton disallowed goal etc we'd be a lot higher up the table too. Get off BR's back - changing managers every two seasons is not going to work. We've got a good man in position - let him do his job

What's everyone on about, what have Wigan created if they look so dangerous? And the supposed boring passing around the back four is what Wigan are doing, whenever we attack we go forward apart from the resting period.

17 Nov 2012 16:07:10
Obviously the football is extremely dull, from what I have seen over the last 10 years watching Liverpool is anytime we play relegation fodder we seem to slow our play down as if we know there not much of a danger and we may score at will, really you watch back every game like these and you'll see.
Enrique like most footballers has'nt got a brain, the one thing that infuriates me is when I player is sheilding the ball and the other just rams and climbs all over him, Enrique has done this 3 if not 4 times in the first half knowing his build is gonna knock him down and it's costs us space and cheap free kicks! just stand the man you person.
Apart from that yes agreed like pulling teeth at times although I just cannot understand these players bringing themselves down to Sunday league esc skills.

To give a bit more energy/presence in midfield. Seems to have worked!

El Diablo!

So the response implies Rodgers got the tactics horribly wrong to start?

"So the response implies Rodgers got the tactics horribly wrong to start?"

Not at all - He was responding to the change in control of CM when Jones came on for the injured Watson.

I admire BR's willingness to make the big calls.

Suso had done well - but Rodgers likely sought to toughen the midfield as Gerrard and Suso were occupying a lot of the same advanced areas and leaving us vulnerable in central midfield.

It was take a decision to take off either Stevie or Suso.

Henderson did really well when he came on and we controlled the centre with a more solid base from therein.

He worked hard and was good with the ball, he played a good part in the victory.

Good stuff. a 3-0 win with room for improvement.

Watching paint dry is much more exciting than this game, its so boring, this formation is rendering Suarez useless in the game.
Why dont they just make a documentary of never winning anything, im tired of making excuses for lfc, this game is breaking my spirit , its so sad.

So much for never walking alone and getting behind the lads! Fed up with the 45 minute moaners! Same last weekend at chelski!

Got to be making Suarez seem useless, he only managed two goals!
Haha eat your words fool!

Red Raw

Just read that first sentence and burst out laughing.....

Playing Suarez in the same stupid position that he has played in all season - the position that has seen him emerge as the leagues leading striker......

Rodgers is an person eh.

As Red Raw said,

Eat your words fool.

Afternoon all , once again look average at best .but at least we know where we are at .one of the bottom 5 teams in the league .results don't lie lets face it we are five years away from top six at least .you can disagree if you like but Wigan are always in bottom five ever season and they are matching us again .

You absolute fool, hang your head...

Yep, results don't lie........and you're an imbecile

Sorry what was that you were saying?
great to see your getting behind the team anyways,
come on suarez!

17 Nov 2012 15:53:22
So far I think today Rodgers has got it wrong, they look far too comfortable on the ball and are getting too much joy down the flanks and what's wrong with our players? They're taking far too much time to make their passes and are getting closed down as a result. They either need a kick up the arse or a very strong coffee. I refuse to believe that this is our true level but it's looking that way isn't it?

17 Nov 2012 15:52:53
If I ever have trouble sleeping I'm gonna put that first half on. That was some seriously dull football. Also, can anyone shed any light on the Suso substitution? Maybe I missed something but I can't see why he was taken off?

He was taken off to facilitate a 3-0 victory.

17 Nov 2012 15:51:23
What jose enrique at left wing?

Same as last game?..

17 Nov 2012 15:45:39
Now even i'm starting to loose patience. This football isn't pretty on its the eye. It's downright boring. Why do Wigan look more dangerous than us? It's clear we don't have the players for this system.
WelshBoyDave

17 Nov 2012 16:56:05
Egg on who's face?
WelshBoyDave

Mate, Wigan were never dangerous. It's a 90 min game. Chill out

17 Nov 2012 15:42:14
I thought Suso looked good? Hopefully the second half looks better.

17 Nov 2012 15:32:57
30 mins gone and so far not impressed. Yet again we're making a poor team look great.

Said the Wigan fan.

I heard somewhere that Assaidi to do chirugical operation on his shoulder..and that he didnt even play for morroccan team?
is it true admin?

17 Nov 2012 15:21:28
Having Enrique up there is actually quite useful, for his pace, height and strength

17 Nov 2012 15:20:22
Why the hell are our players standing off and letting wigan pass as much as they like?

You can't just automatically win the ball by running at people, they'll just pass it around us, you have to wait for a mistake, use some common sense before criticising

17 Nov 2012 15:18:03
Already it looks as though wigan want this more than us.

Um, no it doesn't

You are willing LFC to do badly aren't you mate?

17 Nov 2012 15:06:23
I thought we were gonna play 4231 today but now Assaidi isn't starting are we going for 532 or 523?

17 Nov 2012 15:04:33
The season starts today!

Gotta win. Good luck lads!

17 Nov 2012 14:39:10
Can all those who are criticising BR's formation wait until after the game has been played. Unless your a clairvoyant.

Brendans tactics so far this season have been spot on. A point was rescued from a far superior Chelsea side and the changes at half time against Everton took the sting out of them whilst they were controlling the game.

Its a strange move however considering how weak the formation was last week. Does that mean suso will play in a central role today perhaps?

Forgot to add......... Come on lads big game today, lets get a big win.

17 Nov 2012 14:35:20
we should go for Defoe best english striker guarentee goals, treated like rubbish at spuds !!

17 Nov 2012 14:21:37
Very wierd selection today enrique in a 3 in midfield?

Enrique and Johnson are playing wing - backs ..............

Ahaha OP here sorry my bad didn't notice that well you're right thanks for the reply

17 Nov 2012 15:53:47
They're not. Enrique's playing left midfield ahead of Johnson at left back.

Both very much on the same side.

17 Nov 2012 14:14:15
Rodgers going with 5-2-3 formation again it hasn't worked for us atall this year wen we've used it... Starting to question his team selection now last 2 games he's got it wrong and we've been poor!

He can't do much with players available so just trying figure out a winning formation wait till Lucas is bk sahin hasn't impressed so deserves to be benched Assaidi would of played but failed late fitness test so he hasn't got that many options.

Don't pay attention to formation graphics, before kick-off - or make rash presumptions.

They're not always correct. Wait till the game starts and you'll find out who is playing where.

This is John B.

I have to reply to the person that called me a Chelsea fan - I first stood in the boys pen when Phil Taylor was the manager, and been a season ticket holder longer than I care to remember.

Being a Liverpool fan is in the blood, and the team has and always will have my 100% backing, never booed a Liverpool player in all my years on the Kop.

From all my posts regarding a previous manager ( Benitez ), I have mainly highlighted that he turned us into a poor team to watch, with a few obvious exceptions - in the 6 years he was at Anfield the majority of the football played was dire and boring to watch, his only claim to fame was to keep us in the top 4 - he brought us only 2 trophies in that time, one with Houlliers team and massive inspiration from Stevie G, and an FA Cup ( lucky ).

I am with the majority of posters on here and wish all the Benitez lovers would just - MOVE ON.

Final thought - he is out of work for a reason.

I see where you are coming from but I believe only the first 2 years was where the football was boring. Even though we won the Champions League the football we was playing was terrible. It was Houlliers team? There were 3 very key players in that that team that Benitez bought. Cisse, Alonso and Luis Garcia who all helped us win those Champions League games.

BthekingB

No disrespect John B, but Rafa was the manager who negotiated our way to winning a 5th champions league/European cup.
That's from start to finish, from the qualifying rounds to eventual champions. He did it with the 4th best team in England who had just lost their number 1 striker to Real Madrid in his first season.
Whatever else he achieved he should be regarded a legend for this very reason.
Rafa will always be a legend in my eyes but I don't want him back and he totally lost his way towards the end.
But let us not be bitter, lets afford the man the respect he deserves.

Raffa did not by cisse mate houllier bought him

17 Nov 2012 15:15:27
Mate you need to check your information before spouting. Benitez won honours with liverpool in his 6 years as follows

1) Champions league
2)Super cup
3)Fa cup
4)Fa community shield

Note: thise honours were won with the worst owners in liverpool history.

Note: no manager would win those honours with hicks/gillet as owners mind you

You sayed benitez haven't got job again you need to check your information he has got lots of offers from spain and italy and for many national teams but his looking for right job. Benitez in spain is regarded as master of tactics and valencia legend. Before mourinho to madrid benitez was strong contender to be madrid manager.

Eds is it true about us agreeing compen with spurs for one of their coaches? And he will take the u21s? If that were the case I'd hope borrel went back to the 18s so that he can grow a team and spend 3/4 years with a team rather than having a u21 side that's constantly under powered

Swampmonster {Ed002's Note - Sorry, I know nothing of it.}

I am sure Borell preferes the U21's due to him being able to put players into the first team. Without Borell we wouldn't see Sterling, Suso and Wisdom shining. I know he was with them in U18's but many players give up when they get into the reserves because they don't think they will make it.

BthekingB

Yeah but now if he went back to the u18s he could do the same and he's done with the u21s all over again they no longer need him and he could grow the next lot at u18

Borrell should be stepping up not down or we could well lose him, the u21's are his team, doubt there is a better youth coach in england than Rodolfo.

Sterling to Arsenal with Walcott coming our way, I would love it

This is not far fetched, there is a lot of murmurs about this , I wont be happy with it though,I dont mind Walcott, but would like to keep Sterling .

You got to be joking!!!

Stop reading the S*n.

Are you an Arsenal fan? Crazy talk.

I'm guessing that you are an arsenal fan then.

Can't see Sterling going to Arsenal a club living on the edge of imploding.
Arsenals run of Champions League qualifications is about to come to an end; add that to the fact they havn't won anything for 7 seasons. No? He'll sign a contract with Liverpool.

Then again it says "coming our way" so just a fan who doesn't realise how awesome sterling is compared to wallcott!

So Arsenal on the edge on imploding? Liverpool in a better position are they ?
Talk about delusional?

there are in a much better position financially, they already have their big stadium, their income much higher than ours and their global appeal bigger than ours ,add to that better position in the league, they more likely to be the champions league next season that we being in the Europa ..
Look ... slagging off/ putting other clubs down will not improve us, we need to look at what we doing wrong and work on it make it better

I think Liverpool need to go in for a quality attacking midfielder, and out and out quality striker a reserve striker and another centre back in January.

Those saying the midfield is saturated, are also the ones saying cole, downing,Henderson don't cut it,so in terms of quality midfielders,we're not. I Think we need this because, quite frankly Gerrard is struggling with the tiki taki football up field. We could drop him to a deeper role of anchor replacing Lucas, who would be a VERY good cover for Gerrard. We miss a decent DM when Luca is out.
(I expect Downing to leave, and possibly cole on loan)

We need another CB (hopefully quite pacey) due to one of agger and skrtel being out constantly. I think it's a terrible decission that the club vice captain is still Carra who doesn't play any more! Wisdom needs time to develop and Kelly is now going right back. (This is probably a summer window job)

Finally the striker. This is where Liverpool shouldn't be afraid to break the bank. I would pay for Walcott and KJH (If they are our only viable options) I don't think Sturridge and Suarez will play well together. both greedy and egotistical. We need pace from walcott and a fox in the box. I'd expect both imports to be financed by and AC move in Summer.

I am not going to sit here and say a bunch of names we should buy because of football managers rating system. This is just how I think our Jan transfer targets should centre around.

This would allow us to play Suarez on the left cutting in which he likes. It would give us a natural goalscorer in the box

Good cover at CB for when sick notes are out.

stop playing 17 year olds. as good as Suso and Sterling are, they're still going to tire at 17 and be overplayed in my eyes.

Allow 2 player at DM of real quality to tackle and start the attacking movements and sit infront of the back 4

Free up Jonjo as a substitute not starter, and allow us to replace player who aren't playing well at the moment E.G Allen

At least one quality striker that knows where the net is? Two if there's another available at the right price. The rest of the squad is fine. That's all we need.

Ed,

With the return to form of Enrquie do you think we are sill looking for a new LB?

Pistol Pete {Ed002's Note - If Liverpool are looking for a left back it will not be influenced by Enrique having a decent game or two. It really does not work that way.}

A half decent 2nd half performance is not a return to form. Don't get carried away.
I like Enrique by the way: Let's see him put a decent run of games together before we start singing his praises.

Ed's, any idea what happened to our Head Physio Rob Price? He's been the match day Physio for years but this season has suddenly been replaced by Chris Morgan. Is he still at the club in a different capacity or has he moved on? {Ed002's Note - He moved to Hull City.}

17 Nov 2012 09:27:50
Haha I laugh when I reed this and that player won't come to Liverpool because of no champions league. Lets face facts money talks to players and agents these days. no mark teams like city and Chelsea showed us that silly wages and being prepared to pay clubs ridiculous amounts of money gets ur man. wish clubs had agreed years ago to bring a wage and buy limit yrs ago then clubs wud get players who went to clubs to play for the team not the money. feel free to disagree its just my thoughts. makes me mad to c the sport I love spoilt by crying overpaid overpriced players bring back the tommy smiths and king kennys of the game.

wilfred zaha could solve our goal scoring problems

17 Nov 2012 03:07:48
My thoughts are that BR approached Walcott and Sturidge during the last transfer window. Not much has changed in regards to our tactical play during the past few months. I would think that we will approach at least 1 of them again this transfer window because BR obviously feels that they are the right fit for us. Walcott has not yet agreed a new contract at Arsenal and Sturridge has only started 1 game for Chelsea this year.

I think Walcott would be more likely but people aroundnthenclub are also talking a lot about Huntelaar too. Hopefully Huntelaar decides on his future soon as I think he would be an asset to the club.

having a footballing opinion is all part and parcel of being a football fan, but come on theres is a few thing we should all acknowledge as reds fans, RAFA was the greatest manager we hav had in recent years, he gave us amongst other thing the european cup in perhaps the most epic final ever. yes things didnt fully work out, but we pushed utd very close and had there been, say 4 more games to a season or had our run started a little earlier i think the title would have ours, utd were definatley on the ropes. his famous rant was of a man who had adopted a club to his heart and spoke of the thing many other probably didnt have the balls to say out in public, it is my opinion that he truely rattled fergie and had he been giving the correct backing he would have delivered us the title, however that was then. currently reading all these silly rants in between our fans slagging him off is rank, look at what ROY did, konchelsky(spelling) what KENNY did (2nd stint)(ok maybe hes excused a little due to icon status) but we should consider that £35mil on a donkey, english or not, young or not was money very poorly spent, as was being held to ransom for downing. but we dont speak ill of them, so show rafa a little more respect. consider that of the current squad/ first teamers reina, johnson, agger, skrtel, lucas, sterling, suso, jonjo are due to rafa. The respect matter also extends to BRENDON. he's a 1/3rd into a season which was always going to be very very hard. so show a little respect and at least let him have a season before slagging him off. now back on field we're playing decent stuff, and sure there is going to be a game where some team is due a serious spanking at our hands, really would it to be against Wigan just to see the look on whelans face. LOLZ

It's not br that people are giving out about it's the way fgs went about getting him (the circus that was our search for a manager ) and then not giving him the money to get players thus making him look bad.fsg have not got the money to take lfc to the next level and have no clue when it comes to running a football club.but hey as long as their at lfc we will never be a threat to any other big club which will suit some people on here.
Rage away

17 Nov 2012 02:07:24
I think if the FSG board wanted to move for a quality and expensive acquisition, then i don't think it's highly unthinkable we could snatch and grab one or two very talented players.

I bravely suspect that if some ''expensive'' activity were to happen and for an example that no doubt i will later regret such as a Llorente, or even the likes of a Cavani, then i think there is a possibility of that happening. Although i will cowardly now state i don't think FSG plan to spend a penny more for a long while yet, at least not that will make the massive difference as both Torres and Suarez's signings have done.

I'm not sure if Llorente or Cavani, as both are physically strong combative players, would suit us at present but they have the pick of many top European teams, is more my point i'm making and i still believe that Liverpool is a very attractive club that only needs two very good players to absolutely turn the clubs fortunes around.

Whilst Liverpool have become for many ''sleeping dogs'' we were still able to grab a trophy and fight hard in another final, where we eventually lost to the now European Champions, so if we are ''sleeping dogs'' or a ''small club'' in terms of League finishes of late, then Heaven help the teams around us if this slumber ever comes to an end, because it will be Hell for them.

BoriniCanDoIt

Sleeping giants you mean?

17 Nov 2012 02:06:00
To everyone now liverpool wont sign a world class player in january transfer we only getting 10million to spend so its most likely to be gary hooper or torres on loan intill the summer and i heard a strong rumour we got 60million to spend in the summer and the word going around is that huntelaar and another world class striker is coming in also with a winger most likely to be tello and out of the rest of the money will go toward young stars.

About the possibility of Tom Ince returning:

Ince is a quality player. I have seen a lot of him, both at LFC and at Blackpool. I was annoyed when we sold him. I hope we rectify the mistake.

When I hear cries for more depth in the forward areas atm - and to think we let Ince and Kacaniklic go....

No point looking back though.

I don't think we need another central striker. At least I do not find it as urgent as others say.

I always maintained that Suarez will be lethal - and he will get better and better as we improve.

I see Suarez as our central striker, Borini as his understudy - and Morgan/Yesil in reserve as a great range of options for the one central strikers spot.

It's in the wider forward area we need more depth - Assaidi and Sterling are the main options - and though Suso has performed well there, his future is as a No.10. Morgan and Yesil have been tried in these areas too, and in time, may be good options - but one or two proper wide-forwards would be nice.

We could certainly do with some competition in this department - as deploying Borini in wider areas is not the answer.

Realistically - It won't be Alexis Sanchez arriving.

I'd settle for Ince - great skill, pace, and end product too - he is a great crosser as well as a goalscorer. He also has his fathers determination (and I'm not gonna hold who his father is against him).

£5-6m would be a steal.

I also admire that he dropped down a division to play every week.

Maybe under Rodgers he would have had a look-in, but at the time it was the right choice for him.

He's far too good for the Championship now - and has developed his game greatly.

Although I don't think buying a central striker is as urgent an issue as others say - If we were to invest heavily in another central striker - I wouldn't mind - as Suarez is capable of raising hell anywhere in a front three.

Imo Walcott and Ince would give us excellent options across the frontline - and pace to burn. Though I would love Cavani and Sanchez to form a front 3 with Suarez - that is not going to happen. Obviously.

Imagine Suarez, Borini, Assaidi, Sterling, Walcott, Ince, Morgan and Yesil competing for the 3 spots in the team in the years ahead.

That sounds like one of the most exciting, dynamic groups of young forwards at any club in Europe imo.

The likes of Ibe and Sinclair are progressing nicely too. No point blocking the progress of the kids with unnecessary overpaid 'superstars' when the future looks so damn good.

BJH YNWA

ps - I hope we could/can afford Walcott and Ince. Perhaps offloading Carroll, Downing, Cole etc can help in raising the funds.

If not Walcott (he's not everyone's cup of tea - but I rate him highly) then perhaps Bony - Is he all that? - a lot of speculation around him? Anyone seen much of him?

Ince could be a real handful for us though imo - and I like the look of Assaidi too - I look forward to seeing more of him.

I hope Ince never returns. Why would a manager who agreed Ince had no role in the future LFC main team now want him back?

What about his poor attitude? Or the fact that his dad is keeping his nose in and telling him what to do? or the fact that he thought he was better than he actually was? or the fact that he was demanding to be played in the 1st team? or the fact that he rejected the contract we offered as he wanted a lot more?

Id pass on Ince. Poor version of Sterling. Walcott and Huntelaar would be my picks.
Indian Buzzer

You make some valid points but to say we dont need a striker [ i think we need two top men ] is just mad , we should have never let go of ince but to buy him for 5 million when we need every penny is not the way to go , sorry mate i dont agree with you but its a banter page

Well there is your problem

Ince wasn't sold his contract ran up was offered a new one but didn't sign a new one for two reasons.

1. he wanted some first team action, and the staff didn't think he was ready (and he wasn't).
2. he wanted first team wages.

I wish i could agree with that post a million times

Agree or disagree, no problem.

A good discussion. Just replying to a few responses.

If Rodgers stated that Ince had no role in the team - It was likely in reference to the time he left, not now.

I don't know that Ince had a 'poor attitude' - I respect that he dropped down a division to play every week. I don't know that his dad 'tells him what to do' either.

I'd suggest that the nameless poster who suggested he knows these things maybe hides behind the Ince's couch.

As I said - I don't judge him by who his father is.

Indian buzzer - I wouldn't complain with your picks either. I think Ince may surprise you, but true that Sterling is a better prospect (scary at 17) - but Ince is imo a more complete player atm - but naturally due to playing experience.

I know we sold Ince, but Rodgers didn't, so I see no problem with signing him back.

I don't think he left on a free - as far as I remember there were future sell-on clauses involved.

I read 35% of any future fee mentioned at times. So if true, we may pinch a few pennies there.

I wouldn't expect people to die with excitement if he was signed, but he could pleasantly surprise a lot of people imo. I really rate him highly.

He will be a regular fixture in the England setup in the years ahead.

BJH YNWA
