I dont know if any of the regular posters watch La Liga but why on Earth would Higuain join us? He is playing for one of the best clubs in the world and is on fire for club and country! Maybe in a year or two...

Red Chopsticks

Because mourinho these days is preferring benzema. Higuain is only playin now because he is injured and real madrid are obsessed to buy neymar. Then that would leave higuain freezin his ass on the bench. So, he would look for a team where he would play regularly so that his place in national squad will not be screwed up.

Finally why he would be interested to join us is because irrespective of ur opinion LFC is the best club in the world in many aspects and also stable now a days with a manager and all other staff who respects and supports their players something which seriously lack at the so called best club in the world. Thanks

PS: I suggest u to change ur name to white galactico chopsticks.

Abhi

I really don't see this happening. At the moment, I can't name a Real Madrid striker other than Benzema or Higuain...even if they sign Neymar, why would they leave themselves with just 2 strikers again? They had to sign Adebayor on loan last year, they are clearly looking to gain a striker, not lose one.

Secondly, even if he is available for transfer, why would we be in for a shout with him given our current standing? There's a little club called Man City who'd probably be in the market for another striker once Tevez leaves. United could sign him and sell Berbatov. Inter are after a younger striker as well. I know it's lovely seeing the world through red-tinted spectacles, but unless we have a great season and finish comfortably in the top 4, I think we'd be pretty low down on his list of clubs to join

So yeah, it would be lovely to sign him, he's one of the best strikers in world football, but let's be realistic for now

Red Ollie

Some valid points made Abhi, however as the eds have strenuated many times before Higuain would want guarenteed first team football which Dalglish wouldn't do. So Higuain will not be moving to Liverpool unless he is willing to take a pay cut and be willing to fight for his place.

"..a statement from a police constable on duty that day.

On the front page is a handwritten instruction from a more senior officer. "Last two pages require amending," it notes. "These are his own feelings. He also states that PCs were sat down crying when the fans were carrying the dead and injured. This shows they were organised and we were not. Have [the PC] rewrite the last two pages excluding points mentioned."

"..It emerged that two police CCTV videos went missing from the locked control room on the night of the disaster."

Ed why did we sell Dossena? Sorry if I'm being stupid. {Ed002's Note - He struggled to adapt and that made him out of favour.}

He was crap.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Loved his goal against the mancs though

And against Real Madrid mate, but he was still crap.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

To be fair i love every goal we've scored against the mancs, particularly if hendo's volley went in on saturday.

Can you believe he cost about the same as Enrique? Shows what good work commoli has done for our club so far. Value for money

MIKEY

To be fair to Dossena, he's flourishing at Napoli. Maybe he just didn't adapt to the English game. I think if we'd played a wingback system he'd have been perfect, but unfortunately you just don't see that much in England

Red Ollie

When Andrea Dossena was a little boy growing up in Lodi, northern Italy, he would spend hours sat cross legged outside the cathedral on the historic Piazza della Vittoria, telling strangers how he would change the world one day, many miles away from where he now sat, in March 2009. Of course, the strangers laughed at the claims of the little boy and told him to go to school. A correre e cagare ci si immerda i garretti, the young Andrea would snap back. ˜By running and s**tting at the same time will result in a mess.' The strangers grew tired of the boy's insolence and started telling him in no uncertain terms that he was deluded. Can che abbaia non morde, the old man who sold rosaries outside the catherdral told him. ˜The dog that barks doesn't bite.' Quick as a flash, Andrea would shout: Fatti i cazzi tuoi vecchi testicoli, ca campi cent'anni. ˜Mind your own business old b****cks and you'll live 100 years.' Growing tired of being called ˜old b****cks' by the young man, even the rosary seller stopped talking to him. Andrea was left alone with his thoughts.

On July 2008, Dossena arrived at Anfield for £7m and a plan a lifetime in the making was beginning to come together. The first part was to make everyone think he was s**te. It was at this that he truly excelled, managing to look like a plumber who had won a competition to be a Premier League player for the day. s**te first touch. s**te passing range. s**te at tackling. Dossena managed to make Paul Konchesky look good. Well maybe not, but you get the idea. He was just really s**te all the time and of course he became a bit of a joke for being so s**te. And this is what a lot of people, nay, everyone (except me and Andrea Dossena) don't appreciate; he was trying to look s**te on PURPOSE. For a laugh. He told me as much when I travelled to Naples to talk to him but I'll get to that later.

March 2009. You may remember it for China's first lunar probe impacting the moon. I don't. I remember it for a bats**t mental week when Liverpool beat Real Madrid 4-0 and Man United 4-1. But above and beyond this, I remember it for Andrea Dossena. For a week, he was the best player in the world. He was doing Cruyff turns and Lionel Messi dribbles past World Cup winners Sergio Ramos and Fabio Cannavaro. At one point he attempted an overhead kick from HIS OWN HALF, which flashed inches past Iker Casillas' goal. He then scored a beauty in the 87th minute. One touch. Bang. Pick that out Casillas you c**t, it seemed to say. And here's the thing. He had predicted this TWENTY years ago. On the steps of the cathedral on the Piazza della Vittoria. When he lobbed Edwin Van Der Sar in the 90th minute with a swish of that wand of a left foot, you can clearly see Dossena mouth to the camera that one's for you old b****cks. I remember crying when he scored. Because Dossena had purposefully hoodwinked everyone into thinking he was absolutely s**te when in fact he was the best player in the world and by some margin. I cried at the remarkable beauty of it.

June 2011. Naples. When I travelled to the Avvocato district to research this piece, everyone I met had something to say about Dossena. Most often, I would hear him described as a ˜visionario'. In a little coffee shop on the Piazza Dante, Professor Paolo Vittorio explained to me the impact of Dossena's conscious choice to showcase his sublime skills for just 36 minutes, over two substitute appearances against two of the biggest clubs in the world. Andrea knew from a very early age he was blessed with a God-given talent, Vittorio told me in impeccable English. But he was very modest. Too modest. Rather than play beautiful football week in, week out, he decided that the best thing he could do was to condense all of his skills into essentially what was a 36-minute cameo, spread over two matches.

When I finally met Dossena, at Napoli's training ground, I was tense. Who wouldn't be. I had been told by the Napoli press officer that I was to have no more than two minutes with the Italian and there was so much I wanted to ask him. When he arrived, Dossena was intense and enigmatic. He told me he still watched English football when he could and that he missed the atmosphere in the English grounds. He joked that he even missed being called a s**te, bald tosser. But when I asked him about his premonition, his face turned very serious and he held me with a powerful gaze.

I'm from a large Catholic family. My mother and father, they worked very hard so that I could have football boots and kit. They worked from seven in the morning until eight at night. I respect them for their sacrifice. When my father saw the talent I had in my left foot, he told me that it would be wrong to humiliate the other players. He said I should let myself have one week where I show my talent but no more than this. This is why I chose the week we played Real Madrid and United. But seriously, I had always known that March 2009 would be the time. To coincide with the first Chinese lunar probe landing on the moon. With that, Dossena shook my hand and left. I knew I'd been in the presence of greatness. And the best part is, now that I can tell his story, maybe people will finally realise what a very special talent Andrea Dossena was.
I can not take credit for this i think it was by Adam Bushby, but i thought you would all enjoy it as much as i did,
Roger

Christ someone point him in the direction of the job centre, clearly far too much time on his hands haha

I find myself in a strange place in that, whilst watching the Hillsborough debate, I find I have admiration for politicians.
It would be difficult to pick out any one individual so far as all of those who have spoken so far have made poignant speeches.
I'd also like to say that the decision taken by the Government/Theresa May to release the documents uncensored to the Independant Panel is applaudable. I can only hope that any redaction that they decide upon, is simply to protect the privacy of our angels and their families.
I am humbled.

Redjinal

Truly moved by the passionate and heartfelt speeches made by MPs from all sides. The contribution from the MP for Sheffield brought tears to my eyes in its intensity and sincerity. Now, at last, the truth will out! So glad, as well, to witness the unanimous condemnation of the S*n and Kelvin McKenzie in particular. Perhaps the demands for a formal apology from News International will be heeded.

The Shoe Shine Boy

Just heard John Mann Nottingham MP. It could have been them if they had been sent to that end of the ground, NOT the fault of Liverpool fans, everyone is with them. He has not bought the S*n for 25 years and although never wants LFC to win he says there are no better supporters anywhere in this country or the world than Liverpool supporters. Powerful stuff!

Whats the deal with fans criticising Carroll did he not score in his last outing in one of the biggest of the season. He cant score from the bench. Lay off the bloke. Andy Carroll is an awesome player. KK is managing him well. I am sure he will bang in 15 to 20 this season.

Mighty reds.

Spot on mate some fans will still support and go on to say we would welcome back torres even after what he did to us and spoke all nonsense about us and cheerled chelsea and its supporters and always get on the back of our own players who are very committed (Lucas, Kuyt, Skrtel and surprisingly carra). But anyway what can we debate with the guys who are more knowledgable than us
Abhi

Ed question for you. How come when Carroll is on the bench we ping balls in the box for fun and when he is on the pitch there isn't many crosses goin in. He would have got a hat trick on saturday. {Ed002's Note - A quandary.}

My thots exactly i was so mad kenny didnt put him on. i dont he wld have been there a minute without hitting the back off the net. it was a there for him except AC was not playing

Hiya Eds,just a quick one about the stadium! Anfield currently has a capacity of 45000,I'm aware of the potential risks with an upgrade,with it taking years and the planning permission on stanley park due to run out and still having no assurances of being given the go ahead! My question is what would be the new capacity if a new stadium were built? With 45000 now,it would make zero financial sense to build a 60000,would we be looking at a build more like Old Trafford? And do you know what the capacity on the H+G stadium design was? Thanks Eds! Welshboy Dave {Ed002's Note - No one knows as no decision has been taken, but going above 60k would add significant additional infrastructure costs.}

In January, I think we need a top class striker who plays off the shoulder of the defence and has good finishing ability. Someone like Torres because Carroll and Suarez are not that type of player. We still havent replaced him properly.

We also need a defensive midfielder that is more of an interceptor than a destroyer... Lucas makes a lot of tackles and covers a lot of ground but with another defensive midfielder alongside him in games where we need to keep it tight (especially in the CL) it would be good for him.

Also an attacking midfielder that can play wing just as well would be great, someone with pace and skill...

My choices are Higuain, Bender and Ramirez.

Opinions?

Completely agree with you we have Lucas as our only DM and nowhere good enough Spearing as cover,
Mousa Sissoko all the way. Pretty sure if we have any interest in him we will certainly get him in January.
On AM, IMO We need that, with the fact that Kuyt & Maxi are on the brink of their LFC career. An attacking midfielder who can play on the wings, Eden Hazard would be my perfect choice (Christian Eriksen the alternative). Though i doubt he will be leaving Lille in January and even if he had to he is more likely to end up somewhere else unless we offer something Lille & the player can't resist. Many top European clubs have kept their eye on him but if LFC are determined enough am sure we can get him.

Chopman

We bought Luis & Andy to replace Fernando, if both of them can score goals it would be no problem. (Both of them combined 35-45 goals per season) Just wait a little bit, may be at the end of the season we can asses the situation & decide whether to bringing in another 20M-30M rated Striker.

IMO If Andy fails to prove he is good enough by the end of this season we should sell him. A loss of 10-15M won't be that of a problem to FSG I suppose.

BUT UNTIL THEN WE SUPPORT ANDY!

Chopman

What we need to recruit in January:

Right Winger
Striker/Natural finisher

I think we'll be alright without another defensive midfielder for the season. With Henderson showing what he is capable of and Shelvey coming back in January, I think the whole midfield issue will be solved, especially since Gerrard would rather play next to Lucas then as an attacking midfielder.

My choices for Right Winger in Jan: Adam Johnson, thats it. We need this man.

My choices for Striker: Higuain, Leandro Damaio.

In the summer, seeing we get the champions league spot;

One attacking/creative midfielder...all on my mind.

Gotze
Eriksen
Hazard

All fit the bill, but ONLY if we get the champions league spot

Renegadered

You have more chance of getting Boss Hog from the Dukes Of Hazard.

To eds,

This may sound a kind of stupid, but if an individual wants to donate some money ($10million to $15million) to Liverpool football club (not to some charity foundation associated with the club) Is it possible?
Of course there would be almost no one who would be willing to offer such hard earned money to a Football club during these economically difficult times in return for nothing.
But if such millionaire/billionaire exists, would the club accept such an offer?

On this stadium situation:
I think the best option would be upgrading Anfiled & I hope FSG and most fans prefer it too. So we can add another 15K-25K to Anfield by spending around $100M.
We can actually avoid loss of capacity during the season, by putting an appropriate plan in to working & thus reducing the gate revenue. Hope we can completer the refurbishment within two-three years
Then we can sell the naming rights for 4-5 years to fund such an investment for example we can call Standard Chartered Anfield/Coca Cola Anfield/etc.
But the main thing for me is we must make sure we can increase the overall capacity to minimum 60K-70K, other wise no to redevelopment as it will be noneffective in the long run.

Chopman
{Ed001's Note - I am sure it would be perfectly possible, the board would just want assurances that the money was a gift to the club and not a loan or buy in.}

I remember rafa finding someone willing to give the club 10m or something so he could spend some money on a player but it was not aloud for some reason. Not sure why tho. I imagine if man citys owners brother donated 100m to the club there would be outrage.
Has the poster just won that 101m on the euro millions?? Lol

MIKEY

I remember Rafa wasting our money on second rate players and playing defensive football for a draw each game....

Correction: "& thus avoiding the loos in gate revenue. Hope we can complete the refurbishment within two-three years"

Chopman

I remember Rafa wasting our money on second rate players and playing defensive football for a draw each game....

Wow, working with terrible owners and not a great budget suppose you could do better. The defensive football worked it was pass and move not Dalglish's but pass and move. It did work in Europe and helped us finish top 4 quite often

Yah you are right Remember the 4-1 in Old Traford. and rafa weast money . How much we earn to sale of Torres? Alonso and Pepe stil there. dose Rafa use that much?

17 Oct 2011 16:08:35
If liverpool acquire the services of gonzalo higuain, adam johnson and moussa sissoko, we will have a great chance of winning the league. Higuain is the finisher we lack. We could get him on the cheap as well. Johnson and sissoko would add extra zip. How frightening is a front 3 of suarez, higuain and downing/johnson. With gerrard, sissoko and lucas as our midfield 3. KENNY, PLEASE BUY HIGUAIN!

Higuain would not come cheap. He is one of the best forwards in world football.
Although I agree he would improve us a lot and maybe win us the league and I think we might be able to afford him these days I doubt we are top of his list should he want to move.

MIKEY

I would play adam instead of lucas in a midfield 3 with higuin, carroll and suarez up top!, we would have a bench hat consists of, hendo, lucas, downing and johnson! jealous much? ;)

Red P aka Red Pinero

Higuain won't be joining us any time soon. Johnson will be harder to buy than you think. Sissoko would probably not even be a starter.

Red Ollie

And Red Ollie should know, having no concrete evidence whatsoever. What is the point in trying to pass off a subjective opinion as an objective fact? Is it an attempt to gain credibility?

Red Owl

Yeah Red Owl, I don't know, it's just an opinion. I just highly doubt Higuain will be joining us. If I said "Lionel Messi won't be joining us any time soon" would that be an opinion as well? Cos I don't have any evidence for that either but I'm still pretty sure I'm right

Red Ollie

Whoever the player in question might be, it would remain an opinion until it was proven to be a fact. For what it might be worth, I also suspect Hiquain will not be joining in the near future. The problem is, however, that predicting the transfer activity at Anfield is like attempting to work out next weeks lottery numbers by using a mixture of seaweed, tea-leaves, and sheep entrails.

Red Owl {Ed001's Note - I think it will be Luuk De Jong myself, Higuain is just a pipe dream, but you never know.}

Being accused of racism is up there with actually being on the end of racist abuse. I have worked all over Europe with my job as cabin crew and I have been on the end of anti White racism and been accused of being racist myself. Both are quite hurtful and are only used to cause conflict when nothing else will provoke a reaction.
But like I always say t#@ts come in every colour.
Will feel sorry for evra if Suarez is found guilty and will feel sorry for Suarez if found innocent.
Nobody deserves to be racially abused or wrongly accused either.

MIKEY

Ed do you think Suarez is guilty of racially abusing Evra ? Cheers.

Liverpool Fan No.7 {Ed001's Note - no idea, but I will assume he is innocent until he is proven guilty.}

The fact that Vera has previous on this says something. I think he tried it before accusing Chelsea(?) staff and it was proven unfounded. Vera finished up with a 4 match ban I think?
The Goatherder
JFT96 {Ed001's Note - no, it was Phelan that accused the Chelsea staff member, not Evra.}

My apologies Ed - I thought the Chelsea thing was him mate.
Is this the first time Vera has accused anyone then? I was sure he had some previous.
The Goatherder
JFT96 {Ed001's Note - there was another incident when a deaf TV viewer accused Steve Finnan of giving him racial abuse, but Evra again said he had heard nothing. As far as I am aware Evra has never made any kind of accusations regarding racial abuse before.}

{Ed002's Note - I think we are pretty much done with this matter and should wait out any formal charges being made or the subject being closed.}

Hi guys,

Did anyone else think that Dirk looked a bit off the pace against United?

When i was watching he misplaced a number of passes, but on the other hand he was putting in a 100% as always.

I can never decide whether his effort overrules his technical ability.

What does everyone else think?

Thanks

Stu

Hate to say it, But, Kuyt is way passed what is required for a place in the top 4 (in my opinion). I know he gives 100% effort for 90mins, but for me that is not enough. Bellamy will give as much effort, but offers alot more going forward.
Personally thought they were there for the taking saturday, and see the result as 2 points dropped more than 1 point gained. I know its United and maybe before KO a point wouldn't have seemed so bad, but lesser teams will come to Anfield and play better, but we would not accept a point against lesser teams.
To me Dirk is now a squad player who should be behind Bellamy, Carroll, and Henderson in the pecking order.

Tommy Walsh

Ive been saying this for a while and totally agree with the above. However.. He is being played out wide still which for me is a position he will start to struggle playing. A good second choice striker but thats about it in my opinion.

Adzii

I read this drivel and think the same would have been said of Ian Callaghan. The most appearances for the club in various positions ( and he signed my cricket bat!). Get a grip guys, the thing is the team and Kuyt provides energy and effort and also some important goals ( remember Manu last season). He was bought as a striker and has never really played there. Has he complained? No. Does he give committment ?...Yes. Does he add to the team? Yes Do we as LFC supporters get behind our players....we should!

Personally I'd like Dirk to finish his career with us but can see him off to Holland in the summer.
Iggypop

Dirk is a typical today's lfc player. Works hard, no talent, no pace no skill. He didn't cut it as a striker cause he is carp. Kenny has seen through him already. Hard work alone wins nothing. Everytime he gets (looses) the ball I cringe. Not good enough. Period. Lucas too.

Dirk Kuyt? One of the first names down on the Holland team sheet! But hey! What do they know?

The Irish Rover

Gareth Barry's been one of the first names down on the England team sheet, it means absolutely nothing.

Stu.

Luis Suarez has Liverpool buzzing. He excites me because he does not look like a player that will loose form easily. He will score goals and create goals. He is probably worth over £30-40million at the moment. Would like to see himself and Bellamy start together in some games, this could materialise after Christmas when Dalglish decides to unleash Bellamy in a momentum push.

17 Oct 2011 14:31:17
Just want to say to all utd fans whinging about the adam foul and the downing dive, did no one see ashley youngs dive past lucas? for the free kick young hit and reina spilt? if not have another look. Also want to say i cant believe our own fans saying suarez should be punished if found guilty, i cant believe you! You all say ur not racist just to stick with the rest of the sheep saying ur not, but every single race is racist to one another so stop pretending your not

Thanks {Ed001's Note - I can't believe you would say that nonsense, if found guilty he has to be punished, nothing sheep-like about saying that.}

I think what the poster is trying to say albeit not too well is that racism is in our psyche, each group whether it be religious, colour, nationality whatever believes itself to be superior, its called cognitive dissonance theory or a branch of - whereby if attitude and behaviour do not match then there is internal conflict in the mind whereby one or other must be changed, so applying that to this example if for example i thought that black was better than white but i was white then there is a conflict so i change my view that white is better than black conflict resolved, there is a whole load of group psychology in it as well, inferiority etc but deep down unconsciously it is there but most people reason out that this way of thinking is not correct or acceptable and do not act on it and well others don't. I'm sure I'll get torn to pieces for this by heyho.

Andy C {Ed001's Note - I was objecting to his stupidity in suggesting Suarez shouldn't be punished if guilty.}

Just to add to that i also think if found guilty a lengthly ban is called for but saldy mud like this sticks and in most cases your guilty until proven inncocent

Andy C

The onus will be on establishing guilt, and that will prove nigh on impossible. Even a lip-reader's opinion is undermined by the visual similarity of the shape the speaker's mouth makes when pronouncing words that have vastly differing meanings. 'God', and 'dog' look identical from a lip-reader's perspective. How will it be possible to prove guilt under those subjective conditions?

Did anyone else not notice that the whinging mancs were arguing with the ref over every single decision- Hey Ed- I thought the FA was supposed to be clamping down on this?
{Ed001's Note - that was a few year's back they had a clamp down on it, I don't remember it being one of this year's priorities.}

Yeap thats reason rio wasnt sent off.they surrounded ref at endve first half,when leaving pitch.anyone else notice?

17 Oct 2011 13:51:47
An interview i read earlier by paul parker former manchester utd player and fellow black sportsman, makes some very valid points.
Like most people, I was quite shocked to hear about Patrice Evra accusing Luis Suarez of racial abuse towards him during Liverpool's draw with Manchester United at the weekend.
I find it hard to believe in this age of players from all over the world playing in the Premier League that one professional would racially abuse another.

Few people, if anyone, outside of those two know what really went on, and judging by the lack of video evidence or any verification from the referee perhaps we most likely never will. No doubt there will be a cycle of claim and counter-claim from both camps before this matter concludes one way or another.

Regardless of whether anything did happen, however, I am a bit disappointed with the way Evra handled the situation.

Making his comments to a foreign-based media outlet was an ill-advised move. The perception back in England of a Premier League player complaining to journalists from their homeland is rarely positive. Evra is a senior professional who captained United on Saturday, and as such could have addressed the issue head-on by speaking to the assembled media at Anfield right after the game.

Or even better, he could have not have said anything to the press at all. He could have spoken to the referee, officials at his own club or at Liverpool or representatives of the FA, the Premier League or the PFA, all without causing as much of a public fuss. I don't think many people are fooled by him making such explosive claims to the French equivalent of Sky and then saying that he "won't make a huge deal out of it".

Even back when I was playing, it was quite rare for players to say such things on the pitch. There will probably always be the odd person who shouts something from the crowd - even at Premier League level - but for a fellow professional to make a racist remark was an uncommon occurrence.

On one occasion when something like that happened to me, I did not let it bother me. Afterwards I approached one of the black players from the opposition, told him what one of his team-mates had said to me and left it at that.

Perhaps going through the official channels was not quite as easy as it is now, but I was happy to make my point in a quiet, dignified manner and move on. I don't even know how the matter panned out in that team's camp.

I did not let someone saying anything racist affect me, either in my professional or personal life. Did I think they were bigoted? No. Did I think they were ignorant? Yes. By the time I was playing, there were plenty of black players in the top division of the game, at every club, so for a professional footballer to be a genuine racist would have made them at best stupid and at worst a massive hypocrite for working with people they supposedly despised.

It would have been nice if Evra had done something similar in this instance. He could have approached Kenny Dalglish, informed him of what he believed went on and left it to the Liverpool manager to deal with internally.

Evra could even have still gone about initiating the FA investigation that we have now, but without breaking his media silence. Now his behaviour immediately after the incident will be scrutinised.

He will be asked why he claimed the referee knew what was going on when he did not and why he did not make a complaint through the proper route.

Fully agree, he has handled the situation badly and it appears he has set out to damage not just Luis but liverpool fc. If the accusations can not be proved beyond a reasonable doubt then he should recieve a 3 match ban.

I understand and agree with you, but at the end of the day its only a word and the only words i know that can kill a person are, ready aim fire, being called fatty or gozzy eye never killed any one either,bob paisleys skids

It wsa good to see Kenny bring Lucas off when he did aginst the Mancs as he looked jaded and jet-lagged. The change made us look quicker and Hendo got up to support Suarez.Well done Kenny- One thing though- I was watching the game with my mates and they rightly pointed out that if Man utd or even City had those chances in front of goal- Kuyt and Hendo header they would have been looking at three points- we need to finish off the chances we create.

Think it was more to do with him close to getting sent off

They were afraid of him being sent off so was I .

What chances of Andy Carroll being sold? Our BEST football is along the floor,quick,crisp and pleasing, with Carroll its lump it up front and it just IS NOT the Liverpool way. Lets cut our losses and dump the lump. YNWA

Mate, on a day when we're looking ahead to the Hillsborough debate, don't come on here and post your nonsense please. Go back to your own page wherever that may be.

I agree with the reply and anyway, how did Andy score against the Blues, along the ground if memory serves me well!

Andy has talent and ability. Leave him alone!!

I remember numerous chips into the box that would have been perfect for andy aganst utd. I think we should start him against norwich and hope he can bang in 1 or 2 this is another confidence boost.

Oh and remember the goal ALONG THE GROUND that he scored in his last game.

Help him get some confidence and he will be brilliant for us for many years to come.

hi eds
any news about the suarez and evra racist claims. if suarez had done so what kind of action will he be brought to?
pragyan {Ed001's Note - no news yet, this is the FA we are talking about.}

17 Oct 2011 12:25:41
Ed here's one for you! ..
The game against Norwich I heard Liverpool would use Bellamy + Carroll as the strike force and rest Suarez. This was before the Evra racist accusations. My question to you would be.. Do you think Suarez will now start against Norwich?
The reason I ask is because, if they rest Suarez like originally planned then the media might take this as a sign of punishment/guilt. Regardless what happened the media alway highlights the minor to majors..

Physic red {Ed001's Note - I am quite sure Kenny cares as much about what the papers say as I do, he will pick a team to win the match and nothing else.}

I hope we wont underestimate norwich they play nice crisp footy and can score goals against any one,bob paisleys skids

If Bellamy and Carroll play instead of Suaez then let's hope the media say it's tactical rather than a punishment.
Clearly any chance the media has to sell stories and create rumours then it's inevitable that a spin could be created against.
I hope Dalglish decides on the game team rather than a media relax (I'm sure he will)

Hi eds and everyone else. If we are looking for a new striker I would love to see adam morgan make the step up, the sooner the better. If not what do you guys think of Nolan Roux? the ligue 1 striker, in my opinion I think he'd fit nicely in liverpools set up and if suarez is to leave in the future as most people say it would be good insuarence to get hold of and keep another young striker ready to go. But Adam Morgan should be liverpools future hype and hope!

cheers {Ed001's Note - I would rather see Morgan step up, not seen enough of Roux yet to judge him.}

Ed, my question is can you pls tell me when Owen and Fowler were in the reserves (or academy?), how many goals were they scoring per game? Did they score braces/hatricks regularly which is what expedited their selection into the first team or did they score approx one a game like Morgan has done for the academy side? {Ed001's Note - they did both score lots of goals, but it was more about their overall play, they were head and shoulders above the rest. They stood out like a sore thumb as class, Morgan has not really done that, though admittedly the general level is much higher than it was in the past.}

If that was the case neil mellor would be at barca now lol

Your wrong mate morgan will score for any team he plays for he scores regularly for england as well as liverpool he is just different to both owen the person and fowler but a proven goalscorer at that level already, bob paisleys skids

I predicted a draw against the mancs two weeks ago on our way to 20 points after 10 games (for a top 4 finish). 2 wins against Norwich and WBA, and we're there

What's most pleasing is that with Stevie back and our midfield beginning to gell, it looks stronger and so fluid Kenny can play any formation to control the game

Just need to get rid of Lucas @ Kuyt and we there. No place for passengers anymore. They offer nothing.

Ed
It rarely seems to get mentioned, but the year before the Hillsborough Disaster, we played the exact same opponents at the exact same ground.
FA Cup Semi Final 1988.
I was at that match, in the Leppings.
Everyone was saying what's going on, cos the Forest fans had that big home Kop end.
I used to like a sing and a shout back then but the Liverpool end was so congested, I had to go to the back of the terrace as it was so uncomfortable. And this was me, a strapping lad in his early 20s.
Something should have been sorted after that to be honest, but it seemed to get forgotten about in the euphoria after the match.
We were told on the day that the Police had arranged it like that for traffic management ease.
What a joke, traffic over people management.
And, even then, it was gridlock on the way home over Snake Pass. Bumper to bumper of Liverpool fans.
I haven't read the Hillsborough papers to be honest, but that '88 semi final never seems to get mentioned.
The Real KB

Spurs v wolves 1980-81 semi final, we (spurs) were given that end, wolves were given the home end (kop end?), the congestion in our end was horrific luckily for us there was no fencing, we were able to spill into the pitch, the police were hard handed thinking we were causing trouble only the fear on kids faces brought them to realism, wolves fans were moved over giving us a quarter of their end! Had there been fencing tragedy would surely have occurred that day, hence the reason we were one of if not the first to order our help and support, our first game after your tragedy was everton at home I think we both together sang your song, we gave flowers and tributes by the dozens to everton fans to pass on

That's an interesting point mate, thanks.
Sometimes I get a bit nostalgic for the old terraces but, when you think, a lot of the away ends were the same design as The Leppings - seats above and a small terrace below. The away ends at Everton, Man Utd, Villa, Sheff Wed. All big grounds but odd design for away fans. Supporters got treat like sh1t really.
The Real KB

Completely agree mate, our ground was the same away fans in the corner of the park lane end, but away fans did also have the seating above, as I mentioned we spurs fans offered our help and suport instantly, don't think theres much love lost between fans of both sets of clubs but when that date comes around once a year we more than most can understand, no sooner had those fences gone up it was a tragedy waiting to happen, I am sure your appeal will be backed and supported by its at tottenham and those that don't will be educated into understanding that it could so easily have been justice for the 96, justice for you all & justice for football.

Yeh you're right.
I remember going on The Shelf (for a semi final too), and that was a funny design as well.
Your point is welcomed mate, thank you. And you're right, the debate should strike a chord with all football fans.
The Real KB

Predictive text & swype on my phone cocked a few of my lines up but I'm pleased you were able to read between the lines! I remember one of our fans being shot dead a day before the uefa cup final v anderlecht in brussels, non of their fans came to the 2nd leg, football is hard, you go to watch a game and not come back, people don't understand they can't get their heads around it thats why your appeal its important thats why we at tottenham sport you and back you, god luck! as I said out could have been us

Agree with recent post saying that we need a natural finisher, lots of chances, no-one to finish. And does anyone agree with me that Adam had a decent game on Saturday?

Yeah, the natural finisher is needed, glad everyone listens around here! :D

Adam had a great game, but I think he may suffer with the return of Gerrard seeing as he wants to play the Central position.

Renegadered

Yeah, i think it would be great to see downing and suarez playing wide in a 4,3,3 with a Darren Bent kind of player down the centre. The fox it in box is a needed ingredient for sure! This would also allow Lucas, Gerrard and Adam to play as a Centre Midfield trio

Well, I will say one thing for the coalition Govt, their E-petitions have resulted in a debate in the Commons tonight on Hillsborough. It'll be interesting to see how many MPs are in the chamber and whether the big cheese himself, David Cameron, is present.
If he isn't there...hmmm...
The Real KB

I should have added that the debate is due to start at 7pm this evening. BBC's Parliamentary Channel should have coverage.
The Real KB

Actually, Cameron had better get his Armani-suited a88e there tonight. And the Home Secretary. There was one person killed in the riots recently and the Commons was chocca for those debates.
So I trust that there is a full chamber to debate the loss of 96 of its citizens.

We might need to get additional striker with the pending news of Kuyt's exit next summer.
I also think there could be an improvement on Lucas/Adam connection. They are yet to connect well. I am worried about Adam's tackles, too rough if you ask me and I feel we might need to do something about it. Although now that SSG is back we might be seeing a lot of constant changes in the Midfield.

I love the way Carra worked the backline all through the match against Man Utd, despite the goal. It showed that he still has what it takes to control his area. Great one.

Just a couple of comments. No slating intended.

evar is a complete mug. the dude was kissing his badge infront of our fans, if anyone should get suspended it should be him for provoking ...and getin skilled up by suarez he had no choice but to dive to , he just cant take it {Ed001's Note - personally, I think if you think a player kidding his team's badge is provocation, then you need help. I would call it having banter with the opposition team's fans myself, and should be just a chance to give him some stick.}

I'd rather kiss the a88e of an elephant with diarrhoea than that badge personally. Lol.

Rafael Benitez: "I will wait 3 years, 5 years, 10 years. I want to manage Liverpool again. After Kenny retires."

No doubt Rafa was a great manager for us & has lots of passion & love for the club & city. But i don't think it's wise to bring him back again to the Anfield dugout. He has made so many mistakes in the past especially the replacing of Alonso with Barry which was the start of falling of his Liverpool Empire. He bought so many crappy players to the club, more than the great players he brought into the club. Some say it's because he was not provided with enough money & support from the owners but i am not convinced enough. Just look at Aquilani's situation, 20M spalshed on an Injury plagued payer who won't be able to play until two to three months into the season, look at Robbie Keane sold out with a loss of 6M. If only he had used the money available to him wisely he would not have ran into trouble which lead to his departure. Instead of Aquilani he should have gone for someone like De Rossi, Shweinsteiger, Javi Martinez or should have accepted the offer from Real Madrid for Alonso which was 18M + Wesly Sneijder (what a class player he has become now, a midfield of Stevie, Mascherano/Lucas & Wesly with Gerrard playing the Alonso role would have been as good as with Alonso) then use that 18M to buy a quality striker to play with Fernando Torres / as foil for him so we got quality options upfront. Another mistake was letting Arbeloa go (He wanted to leave because Rafa had little interest in renewing his contract before Real Madrid's interest), he was a decent fullback who can play almost every match of the season unlike Glen Johnson.

Chopman {Ed001's Note - to be fair, the Robbie Keane situation was out of his control, he had to go.}

Can't agree with you there lad .

Rafa was brilliant for us before them 2 cowboy's took over just look at what he did and how much we was together as a club on and off the pitch.

People tend to forget what direction we were going in everything was falling in to place for us

just like to let you know that i was in the directors box for the united game and there was a clinical finisher in the box. Sat 4 seats away from me and actually agreed to have his photo taken with my son. I took the photo and thanked him and wished that he was playing for us right now. Name-- Rushie. Oh for a player like that now, all those chances wasted. He would be worth a mint now. Can,t stop dreaming. By the way i am no good at taking photos and it didnt turn out. Son wasnt too happy but that American Basketball player was more than happy to have his photo taken with him and that did turn out. Even some of those visitors in the directors box were laughing at some of the chants regarding rooney,s hair. Ah well. from the annie rd to the directors box in only 39 years. worth the wait.

I absolutley loved chanting about Rooney's hair on the kop. The moment he came on, we literally sang about nothing else.

I been going a good bit longer 44 years to be honest and still prefer to be with the lads even if i could get into the directors box i wouldnt, i feel the club is more mine than a load of suited hangers on taking money out of our club, bob paisleys skids

I just think with rooney's new hair he could use it as a helicopter landing pad. He be better off quitting football and taking up a post with RAF Search and Rescue Forces. How many Sea King helicopters can land on rooney's noggin in one go?

i ed i firmly believe that if we have any aspirations of winning the EPL then we have got to buy a natural finisher,
there dont seem to be to mant in the game today but we need someone who will be clinical in front of goal

as much as i love suarez he is not the finisher we need, with all due respects we need a chicarito, cause he is great althouh i hate the mancs as much as anyone everyone should appreciate talent and he has it in abundance.

so who would be ur choice of natural fox in the box?

i mean 10 chances 8 goals lol

plse post ed it would be a intresting debate i believe.

With all the tv cameras at football matches now, surely one of the tabloids would have some form of evidence of Suarez racially abusing Evra if it were true. All the tabloids would have had teams of reporters looking at the tapes of the game serching for proof that Suarez did say something as it would be a brilliant scoop and headline news. Evra claims suarez racially abused him 10 times during the match, if this were true then I'm sure it would have been picked up by the cameras at least once.

Ok we all know Suarez is no angel but then Evra is no stranger to controversy either. There is probably a very good chance that a few insults were aimed at Evra and probably given back by him, but whether they were racist is another thing.

If Suarez has said something out of order then he deserves to be punished for it, but if there is no evidence then Evra needs to be investigated as his allegations are very serious and if he is lying then needs to be punished accordingly.

Scarface

I read an article on Newsnow website that said Sky had looked through there coverage and not found anything and also that the Ref had not heard anything either. Not sure how reliable article is but have to agree with you that something would have been out by now if he had said something.

Who would you say is the best striker currently, for me it would be Villa his goal scoring record is brilliant. I also think Suarez could be as good if not better, if he improved his shooting. Also one more question, did you feel from watching the match that Suarez needed someone in the middle to support him, as Kuyt tried to in the second half?
Vik

The best striker for me at the momment mate, is Mario Gomez (Bayern Munich). He has scored in the CL, Bundesliga and scored a few for Germany, already this season. He's started off were he left last season, the guy is a fantastic striker imo.

By the way ed or eds, thankyou to whoever cut my post about Evra and his Suarez claims yesterday as thinking back I was actually being borderline racist myself - unintentionally mind I was just trying to highlight how low it would be to make up something like that but ended up sounding as though I was minimising what was apparently said. Not what i was planning, I just tend to write what spews out of my mind at the time. Anyway, sorry if I offended anyone, that's why I need an editor before my mind is made available to the general public. So thanks

Hai Ed...first Great Work and Keep it up...
Saw the match with full spirit on saturday...Honestly..Iam really upset with a draw..and we should have wont that game...
now the prob is..spurs are having a great run...so as Arsenal coming back..if we dont win our home game...we are gonna be in trouble...
Actually I missed Rafa...whatever guys...we would have won it...
i have some questions to Ed..

1. are u happy with Charlie Adam? ...I mean..he is too slow..and we need players who are attach minded?

2..People saying we need to buy a striker in jan.. Ridiculous..we have a 35mil player in our bencj..and if we still think we need a striker..we should hang ourself...
If Carrol buy was wrong..then thats our problem...

3..Ed u have been saying time and time agian.. that..we have a squad for thr future...but ED we need to win something this year...

4. Do u think bellamy would have been give na chance yesterday?

Pls reply to the quote. {Ed002's Note - (1) I was not convinced by Adam from the start but he has performed reasonably well. (3) There is no need to "must win". The target is a Champions League place, and anything else is a bonus. The club are still in the Carling Cup and the FA Cup has not even started. (4) I have no feelings one way or the other.}

Ed..thx for ur reply...but getting into Cl is not that easy..considering Spurs are doing execptionally well..they have already done with Utd, City, Pool and Arsenal..we need to meet chelsea and city still before the halfline mark..
and i think they are not easily gonna give up...

Kenny Daglish actually rates Adam quite highly and so do I. Thank God I agree with Kenny and not some of the idiots on here.

Spurs roll over every season, when they play the mancs (both of them now) there good little run is what it is! A good little run which as always with Spurs will end sooner rather than later.

I must say when Lucas went off yesterday and Hendo was coming on, I didn't think it was an inspired substitution - however, as is becoming a common theme, Kenny and Hendo proved me wrong - we started to look better going forward and Hendo nearly even scored a wonder goal. Yes, he shouldhave buried the header, but even the best strikers miss easier chances than that. Well done Kenny and Hendo!

LIVERPRES

The cross for hendo was great and made by downing, not sure how many other clear chances downing has made but we need to start putting them away. Chelsea had 3 concurrent chances yesterday and put every one of them in the net. we need to be ruthless in the next 3 or risk dropping points to mid table mediocrity.

I'll bet all of daddy Rooney's ill-gotten gains that my last post was refused because it mentioned daddy Rooney's ill-gotten gains. If so, it seems a tad draconian given the utter drive that does get posted on this site. Or perhaps it was the suggestion that Evra's accusations may well be entirely false, a fabrication, a figment symptomatic of a delusional mind, that may have been the problem. Who knows? I await enlightenment. Oh, hang on, please add the word allegedly wherever you feel the need to.

Red Owl {Ed001's Note - if I had a clue what you were on about I might be able to give an answer, but throwing your toys out of your pram like a spoilt brat is not a good way to get your posts accepted.}

No offence ed, but clearly it is as you posted that one... :P

Red Ollie {Ed001's Note - no, I posted it to point out that he would get blocked if he tried it again. I really can't be bothered with those kind of posts.}

Was he trying to suggest that there is some kind of conspiracy to protect the interests of man united and all associated with them? On a Liverpool site? Has he thought this though? Lol

this is more more man utd related but i figured i might be accused of insulting their player if i post it in their thread so what has happened to Berbatov, fergie carried him in the team starting him before better players before he hit form and then he finds his shooting(and diving xD) boots and he is then dropped. Is he lazy in training or something? Did slur throw a boot at him?
RustyNigels

Berbatov last year scored most of his goals against lesser PL teams, 5 (i think) came in 1 game. Fergie has now changed the way we play and Berb does'nt fit the style unfortunately. Maybe his wage demands where to high for potential buyers last summer, I don't know. Most Utd fans also ask why is he still at the club, saying he should have been sold in the summer.... I'ts strange.... HERBIE(MUFC)

Yeah lesser pl teams including a hatrick against liverpool

Just been on the United site and its nice to see such a clear unbiased view of the accusations aimed at Suarez ......... well i wish that were true, one poster in particular 'Raffa' must have been stood next to Evra as he is in no doubt the claims are true. I do find it quiet funny how some people bring up Luis' past of biting a oppositions player because as we all know if you bite someone you are clearly a racist. It is strange how not one other player heard anything even though Suarez is claimed to have said it 10 times. We will just have to wait and see who is in the wrong and whoever it is should face a ban weather it is Luis or Evra for blatantly lying. Mind saying that i remember Sergio Busquets was caught on camera and not punished.

It is a shame this is the main talking point of the game as i thought in the second half both teams put on a good show. For United i finally saw why there is all this hype surrounding Jones, he marked Adam out of the game first half. But for us there are a lot of positives to take away Enrique put another faultless shift in, Stevie is back and looked to grow in confidence as the game went on and Henderson came on and look very bright a lot of people on here give the lad so much stick i hope he proves them wrong.

always a red

What I don't understand is why evra claims he said it such specific amount of times? Did he really count?

Ashy

Evra said 10 times. Funny I never saw him take his football boots off to count up to 10

Adam went past jone's for best chance of first half ( Suarez ) , and went back past him for free kick , I wouldn't say that's marking him out of game lad . K96 .

Reina
Kelly-Carragher-Agger-Enrique
Henderson-Gerrard-Adam-Downing
Suarez-Carroll

Red Ollie

Would only make one change from that team as its about time we saw more of Bellamy so put him on the right

to all eds

looking at the papers for Monday the 17th of October alot of them are saying their is no evidence of the racial remarks that suarez is meant of said

if the allegations are false then Patrick Evra should be finned or banned.

what are all your thoughts on the issue.

and also could this be to get the media from talking about the Hillsborough debate at parliament tomorrow.

Ed if Suarez is found guilty of racially abusing Evra , what will happen ? Cheers mate been dying to know !

Liverpool Fan No.7 (new to the site) {Ed001's Note - it would be a lengthy ban, probably Luis would be expected to front a 'kick racism out of football' campaign as well.}

In the guardian it is reporting that liverpool want Evra banned if his allegations are false and that they will need witness statements off players.

Eds is there a chance that united players could make statements up to not make Evra look stupid.

Luis as my total support and as come out and denied it so thats good enough for me. Will be interesting to see if the fa did take action against Evra?

Mighty reds {Ed001's Note - this is the kind of accusation that is nearly impossible to prove or disprove, it wouldn't matter what the players said, they have already made it clear no one heard anything.}

Ed this is not much of a roumer but if you could
Post it if you do not have a answer your self, I have been a Liverpool fan all my life (22 years). And have yet to go to a game due it being impossible to find somewhere to buy a ticket for a game. I live In London and would love to know where I could get tickets for a game down here in our stand. If any fans on this site have season tickets and could help me I would be grateful ( obviously paying for the tickets) thank
You
