Use our rumours form to send us liverpool transfer rumours.

17 Sep 2012 22:56:10
Liverpool as a club has been through so much in the last three years. Poor ownership, poor decisions in the transfer market with poor players being paid huge wages. It has finally caught up with us.

We need to have patience with BR. He has started getting rid of poor players. I was gutted on transfer deadline day and I hope the owners and BR have sorted the problem. I truly believe that BR will take the club forward and will be here for many years. despite us not winning in the league this year I was delighted with the attitude on saturday with the team pressing all the time. They also did not sit back after the equaliser.

Liverpool 2 Man Utd 1 mark my words

I was with you right up until the fantasy of beating the mancs. its not going to happen.

My team would be for Thursday

Jones
Kelly, carra, Coates, Enrique
Henderson, sahin, suso
Assaidi, Yesil, Downing

I'd say

Reina because we need to to get clean sheets its the only way he will gain form.

Reina
kelly, coates, agger, enrique
henderson, sahin
suso
downing, yesil, assaidi

jones, robinson, carragher, allen, shelvey, suarez, borini

I'd be happy with both of these teams and agree with ye both but Borini's been fairly desperate hard work aside he's been fairly anonymous...himself and downing to share match time or himself and yesil...

Keep Reina in goal and say goodbye to clean sheets.
Nearly everything on target goes in.

WTF is up with most of yous on here. Its quite extraordinary the level of abuse certain players and BR is getting on here. Grow the **** up will yous, an absolute disgrace some of the rubbishe that's been posted especially over the last week or so. Seriously the Liverpool fans I know and met over the years are nothing like the paranoid and deluded folk you find on the net, nothing at all. Most Liverpool fans that I know are positive, willing to give people a chance especially if the effort they put in match the skill level required to play for a top football club such as ours. They're also realists as well, they realise we've got one of the brightest young managers in the game, but also were in transitional period with quite a few talented youngsters. With those players we've got we have and probably will suffer again a sham result again in order to get where we're heading and things might take a bit of time. But theirs and my backing of the team never waivers. It's unreal on here people who post in after 10 mins saying how gash Shelvey's playing and how Sahin should've started when the week before they were saying the exact opposite. Also very embarrassing how like s post from rather today in ripping all things Liverpool then putting YNWA at the end. Do you empty heads who put this after tearing someone a new one really know the meaning of it? Because of yous did you either wouldn't write nasty rubbish about players-manager or you wouldn't put those very poignant and meaningful letters in at all. I've no doubt that some people genuinely mean it but belive me when I say that few and far between are 100% sincere. It seems to me that validation is the name of some peoples game, they must be a true supporter they think or why would they write that. Well for me the term supporter means what it says. SUPPORT, stop moaning, stop ripping players stop ripping the manager, stop ripping previous managers and for once let's all unite get behind the team and thank your lucky stars your Liverpool fans.

I couldn't help but laugh at the rant mate, but truthfully I couldn't agree more with every word in your post. It really does get your goat reading some of the posts on here at times.

How cone we buy 11m 15m 20m 35m players but yet everton hardly spend they buy mirallas 6m how come liverpool spend big but none of our managers seem to know anything about buying players ever? Cant understand it, i love the wat moyes plays hos team have geart excellent combinations and also the odd long ball but yet were fixated on ball on floor id rather a mixture being honest this is like watching the excitement days a few years ago the way they are playing exciting times for everton

Some of what you say is true - BUT - in 10 years Moyes has won nothing. It's OK doing well with what you have - but the name of the game is winning trophies, effort and endeavour is not enough, mental strength is needed as well, and can you see them winning anything in the near future.

17 Sep 2012 20:57:02
I could write a thousand words for the support from all the clubs for JFT96. Everton have just shown that something's are bigger than rivalries, huge respect for them tonight and to David Moyse you sir are a true gentleman
I just hope that, even though it can't bring back those lives lost, those who are responsible are brought to justice.
Peace out gone but never forgotten.

Kind regards

Is anyone else watching everton here and worrying

About what....?

Tommy that there about 4 times better than us! You 1 of them fans who still think we will win the league?

Why on earth would we ever worry about Everton?

None of what's going on is ideal. Personally if I had the choice I would have picked Laudrup. Again, if some arab had waved a cheque at us I would have gone with them over FSG. But that's pie-in-the-sky. We are now owned by FSG and Rodgers is our manager and that is going to be the reality for at least 4-5 years so accept and get behind it. Rodgers is good - he knows his stuff and he thinks like Laudrup anyway - give him a chance. He has got a nightmare 2 years ahead of him as he phases out Carragher, Gerrard, Reina, Agger and several others and moulds this into his team and stamps his personality all over it from top to bottom. He needs you behind him - he has got some awesomely difficult decisions to make over the next 24 months.. FSG - although obviously not arabs and not cash rich, were caught off-guard by how football is run in Europe, especially transfers. They won't make that mistake again. It will come together and it will come good. The nucleas is there of a very very good side thanks to Rafa's work in organising the Academy - his true legacy top the club. Now it's up to us. Get behind it - it's the only deal on the table - like it or leave. RED LENIN

Just wanted to say thank you for those who posted positive posts of the board today. I know it's been a tough start, but in reality it was always going to be. Outgoings wise BR I'd a top job in summer, yes the volume in isn't great but long term we're building a strong future foundation.

I know after a match when the result doesn't go well that this site becomes a more depressing read that a self help novel. But recently it's been ridiculou. Calls of sacking BR, ridiculous negativity on Allen's passing (which is excellent) after Alan 'makes David Pleat sound like Einstein' Shearer bad mouthed him and claims that a 21 year old full international is a terrible signing; has all been grinding me down.

But today mostly what I've read is positive, good comments and it's renewing my faith in this site. So thanks to those who've posted and lets continue the good vibes as we've got a good few matches coming up and we need to back BR and the team all the way.

Papa G

I would hope most supporters would understand if the team was a bit below par at the weekend.

Should Suarez shake Evra's hand before the next match with Man United? Thoughts?

While I think they should get rid of the handshakes completely, as they add nothing, the only way to move forward is letting go of the past. Suarez and Liverpool know what happened but take the morale high ground I say. Shake hands, you dont have to look him in the eye or be best buddies, and move on.

Andy K

Yes, who cares if what he's said to Evra is appropriate in Uruguay, we are in England. If I went to the hood in the U.S and started calling the residents Ni**as, as they call each other, I would not expect to get away with it. Its like a fight in school, its over now so shake hands and get on with it

Pity Evra won't be there - but I'd like to see ALL Liverpool players refuse to shake his hand, not just Suarez.

Have Everton & Liverpool changed shirts?
We're near the bottom whilst the blue bitters are near the top!
What's going on?

Everton had a plan in place. Liverpool didnt have a plan.

It's 5 points difference FFS.

Hey Eds can you post this in rumours please? Im from the US and have supported the club my entire life. Watching the Everton match right now and was very moved by the Hillsborough tribute they paid. I think it would be very fitting for us to give their players a standing ovation when they take the pitch at Anfield. Opinions?

Errrr no, not a chance

Can I be the first to proclaim "SACK RAFA"!
Just in case some of the wallys on here get their way and by some natural disaster wiping out the rest of the human race he actually gets the job.

Please, he did his best to ruin his great achievements last time. He still ranks as a great EX-MANAGER of LFC. If he came back he would end up a laughing stock. Leave Rafa in the past and back Rodgers.

Brendan Rodgers is our manager now and I will support him ( for now), but your anti Rafa post is insulting and no need.
Rafa ( and I'm not a pro Rafa fan), kept us in the champions league season after season and one bad season then he's a terrible manager.
I think you should remember the good times under his rein and considering who's available out there then Rafa would be welcomed back by me should Brendan's rein not work out.
Those Anti Rafa got us in this mess and those anti Dalglish deepend the hole.
Support our present manager rather than making things worse!.

Take borini out the spotlight for a few games bring him on 60 mins and play him euro and cup games to allow Suarez a lil rest till January so not buggerd for second half of season! Then when team starts winning some games gradually bring him in!! Also I would like to see raheem given a break from cup footy so hes fresh for the league till we get to January. Would like this to be our euro And cup team play hendo if Shelvey playing a lot in the league and keep suarez on bench in case plus maybe yesil or morgan.. What u reckon edds

What's happened to Sahin!?

Is he really going to make an impact this season!?

NS

He wasn't fully match fit when we signed him. He spent most of last season injured.

Couple that with, as Brendan Rodgers himself said, he didn't fully understand the team tactics yet and it hurt us against Arsenal because Gerrard had a bad game and it effectively made us go from a 3 man midfield to a Joe Allen midfield.

I'd like to see Sahin his way fit and sharp learning the team dynamics but I Don't In Any Way blame Rodgers for Not starting him as he'd be blasted from all fronts if the team suffered because of it.

SpudRed

Sahin should play Thursday, Rodgers prob didn't want to play him against cattermole and colbeck as he isn't strong enough yet for the prem.

although i wouldnt like it i can see truth in llorente coming to us in january but im afraid suarez will be sold to fund llorente if it makes team stronger then you cant argue.

Llorente is crude and couldnt handle the EPL.. End off {Ed001's Note - you might want to try watching him play before you make nonsense posts about him.}

Hi eds wow that is some statement about llorente i have seen this guy play regular in europa lge and spanish lge great touch holds the ball up good in air great feet not the fastest but would bang the goals in epl no problem.rd

How can people want rid already? 3 games in and already it's plain for all to see that the style of football is a hell of a lot better than anything we've played in the past couple of seasons so people please get your head out of your ass and give the man a chance.......

Have to disagree,i think under kenny we plated some of the best football in recent years, unfortunately we also played some of the worst.at this moment in time i think rogers is trying to play a brand of football that at the moment we dont have the personnel to play.with gerrard and allen deep we leave a huge hole behind the strikers for teams to counter easy,we should play 4 4 2 for a while and get people in at christmas,oh and dont play downing, rob b

17 Sep 2012 18:34:10
Transfer committee-: ok let me save some cash here without the need for this new committee.

Talk to the agent, learn if player is interested, agree fee and wages then bloody sign them instead of stalling!! How is it that Liverpool seem to spend ages doing a deal and man utd and spurs go about their work in a swift fashion and get players in!!

Yes, Spurs who swiftly signed Moutinho.... Man Utd who took no time at all to take all summer to sign Van Persie...

Each deal depends on so many factors you can't make teh accustaion, in my opinion.

17 Sep 2012 18:12:29
we had one of the worst 1st set of fixtures , we would have beat man city but for that back pass , to have this many points with having only 2 strikers shows we are doing well , we out played sunderland and we should have scored more , so for me the team is playing well with what we have , borini will come good within a few more weeks , january will show us what the owners are up to , if we dont get a proven striker in jamuary then the owners need to go , we will get better by the week and i think we are just having our bad run now , look at arsenal last season and were they finished after a start like we have had , every team have their bad runs lets hope we are having ours now

Brendan rodgers is by far the man to take the club forward . We are only 4 games into the season! We cant be nervous anfield needs to become the cauldron it once ones and the fans yapping to get br and the owners out need to be getting behind them instead of pushing them out make teams scared about coming to play at anfield its been tough the past 3 years but we cant look back on the past we need to look forward get behind all of the players. Most of us always slagged lucas and look what type of player he is now an integeral part of our team. Its sad to see steven gerrard probably the best english footballer in the past decade still not having one the premier league but look at the players we have trying to get into the team suso, flanno, robinson, yesil, morgan, wisdom, coady and the young players already in the team allen, sterling, borini, lucas suarez, shelvey.
Rodgers has only been in the job a few months it will take time for him to implament his style. You can already see signs of improvement we just cant score. I really do believe Rodgers will make liverpool great again and turn anfield into a place where teams will hate to play at every week because they will get played off the park!

Brendan rodgers is the one bit of shining light to happen to our club in years,he's a good manager, great talker, ambitious and wants to succeed at liverpool football club..What we have to realize is,this is not his team yet,he needs time to put the team together to go forward, even the most die hard fan rose tinted glasses wearer must be aware of is,we have bought alot of mediocre players in the last five years,we have to weed the rubbish out and replace, this is what he's trying to do,TIME he needs,so get behind him instead of on his back....

Good post

Hi Eds,
Watched the Spurs game yesterday, and Gilfi looks a better player than eith Allen or Borini. If we are going to play with Suarez up top, Gilfi would have been worth the money instead of Borini, who just does not look he will score goals for us. I think Brendan should use the youth and use a left back instead of Johnson if he does not fancy Enrique. Johnson was terrible on Saturday evening especially for their goal. What do the owners think of our start to the season and the effect their policies are having. They are right not to put pressure on BR for a top four because they can't, they haven't given him the resources. Will they change policy in January?
PSYNWA

Allen is twice the player siggy is, hes been our man of the match every time hes stepped out onto the field and will be looked at in the same light as xabi in years to come

How do you figure? Siggurdsson has not been overly impressive at all thus far and I suspect will not be in the first team picture much moving forward. Borini has perhaps underwhelmed a bit admittedly, but he hasn't been terrible by any stretch while Allen has been absolutely terrific. Neither Borini nor Allen are CAMs either, so you're comparison doesn't make much sense to begin with.

Gylfi was our target we miss it as his asking selary is higher then we offer.

Allen is a far better footballer!

Really..johnson was terrible on saturday? what game where u watching? only mistakes he did was he didnt stick his foot out and we were unfortunate to concede after some bad positioning from our cbs... other than that he was the biggest threat we had in attack along with sterling..

CyprusRed

Sterling and Allen have been great . Allen is a far better player than gylfi .

Jamesy

How much better than Borini is he? Twice his wage? Four times maybe? Suppose his wage request was Allen's wage plus Borini's wage + half again.... did we make the wrong decision not signing him then?

You have not watched joe Allen play you sir are an oxygen theif....! Paisley's genius

Would people please wise-up. BR is a good manager. Instant results were always an unrealistic expectation. We have been losing points 4 years and change was needed. We need a tactful manager with a long-term plan-He is here 2 stay and our players will adapt.

What a depressing read the garbage on here about sacking the manager an getting rafa back . For all the negative posters try looking at our future and it might cheer you up ( the under 21's ) we already have 3 or 4 who could easily fit in to the first 11 this season . With the guidance of rodolfo were going to get the rewards from the academy with a group of players coming threw together .

Come on people were 4 games in an already moaning support it's called just in case you forgot .

L B .

Does Rodolfo run the academy from another club or country? I thought he left wise guy

Well said our under 21s thumped chelski the other night playing one touch pass & move just like brendan wants to play I'd rather two years of progress towards a future of competing and winning things than money wasted on quick fixes.

U21's where excellent v chavski. Just wondering why Robinson aint Selected more.More so because of Enriques injury. Also feel Ngoo causes problems and in the light of goals being an issue, feel he could be a menace as hes very unorthodox.Coady And Adorshun(?)look quality. And hope to see some of these involved soon in 1st team. There defo more exciting with better eye for goal.Ngoos size alone surely would help Suarez, yet hes more mobile then say Carroll was

I would like to say how pathetic it is for other teams fans to post stupid childish comments on here, have u nothing better to do with ur sad little lives?

Plus to all the real Liverpool fans saying get Rodgers and FSG out etc......you lot can get a life to! If you don't like it then go support Chelsea, man city or man utd coz ur not welcome here anymore, so go take your pathetic excuses and name calling elsewhere

Andy
Liverpool and proud of it
Backing Rodgers and FSG all the way to a brighter future

I am a supporter of both LFC an BR,and was of FSG,untill last transfer window and the lack of ground talk of late.
BR has a huge job on his hands, which has only been made harder by FSG,for not backing their man.Even after he cut the wage bill for them.I dont agree that they should throw money away,as they did last year, but not to get a striker after letting 3 of them go,is unforgivable as the results are proving!!
FSG need to put this right in JAN TRW and back BR,as am sure they will!?

crazy dave

But its ok for your fans to post utter drivel on other clubs pages ! But no one is allowed to post on your deluded page ! Top 4 ur avin a laugh !

Much love

Ps glad

you got the verdict you did last week RIP 96

We need to get over the fact that we didn't get another striker in on deadline day, it's been n gone so get over it, until January ur talk of transfers is mute! Fact

If SoS hadn't spoken out about the last set of owners we might not exist as a club right now. And thank god the fans let it be known that Woy wasn't good enough for our club.

Being a fan doesn't mean turning a blind eye when things are not going right.

Personally I think BR will get it right and with FSG backing will continue to improve the club and team. But I wouldn't tell any Red who thought otherwise to support Chelsea, that's moronic.

I back BR to the hilt , he is a great young manager , i back and support LFC ALSO , but i dont back FSG , they have messed up our transfer window , refusing to invest enough in players , they are turning us into mid table club ,
if they havnt got the money to invest they shud sell ,
there are plenty of other good potential new owners out there
FSG OUT support BR

This more of a question than a rumour.With the owners coming out and saying that the red sox are not for sale,are they looking at selling liverpool,as it seems they cant afford to run us both.With the wage bill being cut and no arrivals,add to the stadium issue would point to them losing interest.Just wondered what your thoughts on it are. {Ed002's Note - THis was done to death last week.}

Why would fsg want to sell liverpool they are in it for the long ride there not fools they know its going to take time thats why they have stabilized the club and will start the rebuilding process now with a good young manager k.k was a learning curb which has cost them dearly dont expect big name signings cause they wont be coming young talent is the order of the day so keep the faith

Shankly wrote in his autobiography that he had long prepared himself "for the day when I would become a football manager". He pointed out that he had absorbed all the coaching systems with any useful qualifications and had full confidence in his ability and in himself to be a leader. For him, he had done the hard work and "it was simply a question of an opportunity presenting itself".

Shankly summed up the essential criteria for success in football management when he said: "I could speak common sense about the game and I could spot a player". In terms of the latter criterion, he always applied "the same basic formula" in that, first and foremost, the player must have both ability and courage. Other attributes were physical fitness and willingness to work, especially to struggle against the odds.

Although Shankly found he had a great team on the coaching side, the team on the pitch had major problems. Shankly said: "After only one match I knew that the team as a whole was not good enough." First, he had to remove the "dead wood" so he listed 24 players who should go "and they went inside a year.

Liverpool's eventual success was based on hard work done in the training system. Five-a-side games, as at all Shankly's earlier clubs, were the heart of the system and he insisted on these being as competitive as league matches. The system was geared to Shankly's simple philosophy of "pass and move", which was thereafter the basis of Liverpool's strategy.

Liverpool's recovery depended on new players being acquired and, in his autobiography, Shankly recalled the struggles he had with the board to make them realise the club's potential and the need to spend money on good players. He said there were times when he felt like walking out.

After 3 years of rebuilding, the new team was ready for promotion in the 1961-62 season and duly won the Second Division championship. They finished 8th in their first season back in the top division. Meanwhile Liverpool's youth system produced outstanding players like Ian Callaghan, Tommy Smith and Chris Lawler and the hard work paid off in 1963-64 when Liverpool won their sixth League title, after 5 years of building from Shankly and Paisley.
---------------

Walk on and give our new manager a little time to bring back pass and move football to LFC.

SpudRed

Very nice post, which unfortunately will likely not receive the appreciation it merits. Expect several comments telling you how it's different now and such reminiscences belong with accounts of the dinosaurs.

Ginger Rodgers

Couldn't agree more but unfortunately the modern media and football fans don't have the patience required for such a rebuilding exercise. It's instant success or the sack, new signings have to hit the ground running or they are denounced as failures. BR needs time and requires patience but, based on the ill judged comments of some of the "fans" on this and other forums he will get neither. The time to start judging will be half way through next season when the green shoots of recovery should be visible. Give it time, coffee is instant success takes time.

Excellent post mate, might make the younger supporters realise that you can't expect success overnight. this is how Liverpool became great, and we can get there again. I believe BR is that man....

Hi (Eds)
Last weeks events have had a positive effect in my outlook in life in general. My oldest son begins his degree today in Leeds and I was little upset to see him leave, his mum was pretty emotional when we were leaving and has been down all weekend. all the family seemed pretty down right now. The thing is he's not a million miles away we could go and see him every couple of weeks until he comes home for Christmas.

My son begins a new chapter in his life and things look really good for him right now and fingers crossed he'll graduate, find a job and settle down with a family of his own.

I was reflecting yesterday and today about the families of the 96 and especially those families who discovered in the findings that there loved ones may have lived if it was not for the mistakes made by people in authority. the shock and devastation the families must have felt. 23 years of pain and suffering and all the hours, days ,weeks, months, years, decades, praying and hoping that one day the truth would come out so they can let their loved ones rest in peace.
just imagine the impact last weeks revelations had on these poor families. You have had twenty three rubbishty years of heartache and now you can have some more pain and suffering just to make things worse. I right now feel like screaming every swear word ever used. Life is so cruel at times and I really feel for these families and hope they have the strength and courage to keep going. I hope they can find solace very soon.

The 96 did not come and will not come home and that is hard to take for the families.
My family will get to see my oldest son and his future is bright and we can still have hopes and dreams of seeing him marry and visiting us with his wife and children. The only hopes and dreams the families of the 96 have is being reunited in the after life.

I have been a RED all my life and have cried when we have lost and sang and danced when we've won.
I've been lucky to witness the glory years of the 70's and eighties, so at least I have many, many happy memories of being a Fan. despite not winning the premier league , we have been more successful, than most teams in the last 20 years and yes in the last six or seven years we have been in decline. But we're not dead in the water and we can improve with BR. I am disappointed with what some fans have to say about the owners and BR. You need to think back to the previous owners and how they nearly brought the club to it's knees. Rafa (top man) made some very big mistakes. the Fergie rant, Alonso, Robbie Kean and many a time his tactics were wrong and his substitutions were totally baffling to say the least. However he did buy some top quality players
Alonso Torres, Mascnerano Agger and Skrtel. and He won the CL and the FA cup.
KK got it totally wrong in the transfer market and the suarez situation was embarrassing. We did reach Wembley twice and played some brilliant football at times
We are not in the same boat as Glasgow Rangers or Portsmouth and we must be grateful for that. yes, currently our PL position is not great but a win against Man Utd can spark our season off.
End this pessimism and stop this unfair and unfounded criticism of the owners and BR. We are in another transitional period, it's unfortunate but deal with it. its not the end of the world. We can bounce back AND WE CAN BE A FORCE AGAIN. However we must be patient. Get behind the Club and stop moaning and slagging the club off on forums like this one. You are bringing this great club down.

Just remember Football is very important to many, But, IT IS NOT MORE IMPORTANT THAN LIFE! NOTHING IS.

Red Robin.

Great post mate hope your lad get his degree

BR has not had the best of times since he started
1: Lucas a player he really likes and wants to build a team around gets injured

2:Being told to sell his players before he could get any more and then being shafted on deadline day by no further additions

3:In previous seasons players like Gerard has won us games single handedly and players like Carra and Reina have saved us games, but these players are no longer the players they were

So its a building process for BR, he needs to be given the time and patience by the owners and more importantly the fans.
Cannot believe some of the fans asking for his head, I thought that after last week and the truth finally coming out about the 96 that fans attitudes would change towards our club and BR, but no, really saddens me to read some of the posts wanting quick fix solutions to problems passed on from past regimes.
I could understand if we are playing garbage football, but were not.

The signs are there that Liverpool FC is starting a new chapter in its life both on and off the pitch, so lets all give BR our support and see what he can do when he has got all the pieces of his jig saw together, which will probably be in next summers transfer window.

One thing that we as fans and supporters can take from the families of the 96, is patience. We will become a top side again, not by changing managers every 6 months, but recognising that early green shoots are appearing in something that has been decaying for a while, and therfore be encouraged by this and start applying some love and positivity so that one day we will see the full blossom.

Can't see why fans are panicking. Apart from the West Brom game I think we've been the better team although results look worse than we've played. I'm pretty sure not many teams will go to the stadium of light and win this year. A win against the this weekend and the first for games will be forgotten. A new squad new system and it looks as though the pass and move and keeping hold of the ball is slowly getting better. I have 100% faith in BR's to get it right. If we're in with a shout of Champions league football come January a striker in and I think we'll do it.

Good post but we were outclassed by arsenal (diaby)

REALITY CHECK ANYONE.........

Fixtures from last year. This year.
West Brom A 0-2 3-0 -3 points
Manchester City H 1-1 2-2 level points
Arsenal H 1-2 0-2 level points
Sunderland A 1-0 1-1 +1
Man United H 1-1 ??

At the moment we are 2 points down on last years fixtures.
If we win we have the same points from the same fixtures as last year. So no need to PANIC! Support the lads. We can turn this around.
YNWA

Last year we finished 8th though.

But last years results were shocking so lets panic. We need to be doing better than last year, get a grip son

And if we lose? Remembering of course last last year was a disaster! No need to panic?

You seem to imply that last season was a success.

Hi fellow Reds and Ed's.

Saturday's game was encouraging. I cannot believe the doom and gloom merchants I see on here. We looked in complete control of the football, recycling and retaining possession without constantly going back to Reina. With a little more composure, and luck infront of goal our first league win of the season would have been secured well before the final whistle.

Whils't I acknowledge football is a results business every fan needs to realize what this new regime is attempting to do here. Yes, we have been extremely competitive in cup competitions under Houllier, Rafa etc but other than one season, how many times have we been competing realistically for the title in the past 20 years or so?

Successful domestic and international sides dominate matches home and away. The ultra defensive approach, hoping to hit on the break is no longer in vogue. Big teams conserve energy throughout a match by keeping the ball, it enables players to have controlled "breathers." How many times do successful sides score in the closing minutes? The opposition are literally run off their feet chasing the ball.

This is a whole new ethos at Liverpool and will take time to adapt to. In truth,as appears to be the case, the senior players will probably take longer to adjust. Rodgers and his staff have only just undertaken a major overhaul here. Players we've previously relied upon will either modify their game or fall by the wayside.

Liverpool is a massive football club, one of the World's finest. It's about time we played in the style of a big side and I am prepared to accept poor'ish results whils't seeing definite signs of long term progression.

I only hope the manager and his staff are given time by everyone connected to our club to fulfill the ambitious programme on which we've embarked.

17 Sep 2012 13:36:35
Can't believe just how stupid some people are. These people who are crying saying rodgers needs to go etc. If we would of won 3 of the first 4 these same people would be posting saying we are going to win the league. GET A GRIP!

17 Sep 2012 15:13:50
Liverpool are focusing the main overseas scouting operation on south america,as they look for the next big talents.The two new scouts brought in from man city are at the focal points of what brendan rodgers is trying to do.With very limited money available,this is seen as the best way to ensure value for money.I expect 2-3 players will arrive from south america within the next year. {Ed002's Note - The two who came have expertise in Europe not South America. Liverpool already has a structure there as has been explained before.}

17 Sep 2012 15:10:47
Rodgers sold out by the owners the fact is we need somewhere in the region of 50/70 million spent on the team without selling people we don't get any stronger by selling five players to buy one the owners will have man up or sell up its that simple

17 Sep 2012 15:09:21
Watching Liverpool play at the moment is like watching your child ride a bike for the first time. You can see them wobbling all over the place, and you know they might fall off at some point, but you know in your heart of hearts that when they get the hang of it they'll be great at it.

Here's to the glass being half full.

Lucas Lovechild

That is a very good analogy young man.

17 Sep 2012 15:02:59
I have it on good authority that the club are lining up two south americans player for the next transfer window.I asked what there names were but i was told the club are trying to keep it under wraps,as clubs with more money will easily outbid us.I was told one of the players is an attacking midfielder and the the other is a striker!.

17 Sep 2012 14:52:15
Take it easy guys! Maybe we have the weakest Liverpool start in 50 years, but we have a tough start with Arsenal, United, Chelsea, and 1 point against West Brom and Sunderland combined together is more than great. NOT!

17 Sep 2012 14:35:12
Just had an idea,

Buy Jack Butland in January as understudy to Pepe.

Let him play in some cup comps (if were still in any) and reserve games for the second half of the season. That way he'll have a settling in period with the team staff and area with no major responsibilities and he learns to play BR's system that way next summer we can allow Pepe to leave for say 15-20 Million and have a replacement already here rather than scurrying around trying to replace him let him settle and understand BR's tactics while shouldering 1st team responsibilities in big league games that will lead to error's.

Any Eds/Reds agree/Disagree ?

UCCM

Strongly disagree...

If you are thinking that Reina is past it, think again.....He is still one of the best goalkeepers around....

We should careful about what we want....None of the goalkeepers from England (with the exception of Hart tilll now) have escaped the hype around them in the pat decade....Jack butland is not the keeper we want...

Reina is a brilliant shot stopper...
He is good at crosses
He is fantastic on penalties and one-on-one situations
His distribution is better than Cassilas..

Every player goes through these phases....He need support not flogging off...Talk sense the next time you post something.......

Why does everyone on here moan about nothing? If your going to moan at least do it constructively.
Whats wrong with FSG? They rescued us from Oblivion.
Sure they havent spent 100s of millions but they have spent when asked, are they fools or businessmen?
I like how they are going about things, and im sure the stadium issue will resolve itself soon enough, and i agree with JH, why pay 300+ Million to add only an extra 15.000 seats?
I sometimes read whats written and think most of you are people if im honest. You need to wake up and smell the coffee, we were going nowere under the last 2 regimes.
Morres and Parry, Hicks and Gillette were defo close shaves, pardon the pun, at least FSG are bringing more monies commercially and putting us hopefully some sort of level playing field.
We will never have the riches of arab sheiks or russian gangsters, so be patient and the story will unfold.
LFC has been lost in transition for 22 years for whatever reasons, but i believe the future short and longterm will come good, it just need the management, the players and the ownersand the fans to sing from the same hymn sheet.
Wise up stop your bitching and be a true supporter, BELIEVE.

Thanks for the reply yesterday Ed001 about the academy. Do you know which age group is most likely to experience the full benefit or if we have a class of players coming through that look particularly promising?

Cheers

Ash {Ed001's Note - it takes roughly ten years to see the benefits of an academy. The ones there during the changes suffer as the changes are implemented, the next couple of years suffer as the staff get used to it. It is the ones there now, and that will join this year, that will get the full benefit of the new regime. We are already starting to see the benefits, our U21s and younger are excellent.}

Rodgers says the players were fantastic or terrific after every game, irrespective of performance.

Is he really celebrating a draw against Sunderland? This man is a joke. At least with Dalglish in charge we occasionally won matches. Rodgers is blinkered and one dimensional, I can't wait to see him leave the club.

Borini is yet another in a long line of flops for us and what will we do if Suarez gets injured or is suspended (which seems likely due to the amount of diving he does).

Mark my words, while Rodgers is in charge, we will desperately struggle. Next weekend against Man Utd will be a clear marker of his abilities.

If u don't like it go support someone else

Your support is not wanted at my beloved L.F.C. GO support Man u. You don't know the meaning of YNWA. If anyone is letting the team down its fans like you!! Proud Liverpool fan no mater what!! YNWA EVER.

He is saying that their work rate is terrific after each game, which it is.
Stop your moaning.

Another person who is scared of change. Its only been 4 games, Arsenal were in a worse predicament after 4 games last year and look what they did.

You have to admire the level of effort opposing fans put in to trolling posts these days.

For the life of me I can't figure out the criticism of Borini. At least he's in the box trying to make things happen and generally actually hits it on target instead of blasting it well over the bar from 30 yards out.

Is he of the quality to be a 30+ goal a season scorer? Probably not yet, but he's just a kid. With support, he could easily become that for us over time and maybe by the time he's at the ripe old age of 25 he'll be worth 2 or 3 times what we paid for him. Slagging off a youngster who was probably originally intended to not even be in our starting 11 after a handful of games is completely ridiculous.

RDL

Un named poster

Rodgers didn't celebrate the draw but it was a good performance apart from missed chances again. Kenny's results over the second half of the season was relegation for ( FACT ). Give Rogers a chance we've had four hard games to start off with the baggies game was a crackin goal and a sending off that cost us, we outplayed City and Sland but gave away silly goals Arse hit us on the break for their goals. I do agree things need to improve but look at our position at the end of October we do have some easier fixtures and the team will settle more into the system. Oh and by the way support your team whoever is in charge and whoever is playing.

If Suarez gets injured or is suspended could someone please tell me what we are going to do up front? Rodgers needs his head examined getting rid of Carroll and not having a replacement. {Ed063's Note - Haha because Suarez is sooooo prolific isn't he? Misses 4 chances for every goal he bags, his only saving grace is that he creates a lot of chances. Borini is more prolific and as soon as he gets 1, he will get a truck load.}

Yesil will be a revelation and score goals for fun. :-)

BR has said if he had known that the owners were not going to sign a replacement he would not have sold Carroll.

I thought this was common knowledge and has been covered numerous times, so why can't people on here write factually instead of putting their own spin on situations

If Suarez gets injured you just start someone else.
We need to get over this one player mentality we have had for as long I can remember.
First it was Owen, then gerrard then Torres now Suarez.
Brendan is trying to turn us into a team not an individual and backing players.
Soon it won't matter if a player drops out because we will just slot someone else in and adapt and just get on with it.
Like the ed said Suarez hardly scores tons of goals for us at the moment.
If he's injured just start Stirling-borini-downing. The other players will just need to step up.

MIKEY

Borrini is not more prolific than Luis Suarez. Which of the two scored most goals last season, and which of the two has scored so most often this season? The original poster is most definitely correct. Would the editor care to put his money where his mouth is? I'm prepared to bet that Suarez will score at least twice as many goals as Borrini this season.

Red Owl

Competing for three starting places and a place on the bench we have got Borini, Suarez, Morgan, Sterling, Pacheco, Yesil, Ibe and Adorjan. Ngoo if we can register him and even Gerrard, Suso, Shelvey, Downing and Assaidi can play across the front in an emergency. Filling the slots isn't the problem - it's keeping the rest of them occupied that is. RED LENIN

Agreed Suarez will likely score twice as many as Borini. He'll probably also take 8x as many shots to do so and is 4 years older than Fabio. Give the kid a break already- he's a very good prospect, not the finished article yet. Suarez gets a ton of backing from supporters since he gets a nifty nutmeg once in a while- it would be really nice to see the other players get the same level of support.

I remember reading that borini had the 3rd goals/minutes played ratio in serie a... behind ibra and cavani... not too bad... btw borini's was better than any liverpool player last year

I wish Brendan Rodgers would show some enthusiasm on the touchline, he looks so out of his depth.

Just cause a manager doesnt jump around like a monkey does not make him out of his depth.

Every manager is different. Dont judge the man on how visible his touchline enthusiasm is. Rafa rarely got animated on the touchline for example.
Im sure Brendan is putting his heart and soul into the job, the passion will be there!

And the prize for furthest away straw grasped at goes to...

Sorry did you not see his reaction to Suarez goal on Saturday? The one where he threw his arms up in the air, jumped and screamed YES!

He is the Don, one of his looks could kill..!
Cool calm and collected

What is up with Enrique? Is he injured, is he out of favour or as I have heard he is unhappy at Liverpool and wants to return to the Geordies?

Oh i do hope so admiral. shocking player.

He was rubbish near the end of last year.
Johnson is good on the left and Kelly is as good as Johnson on the right.
Enrique needs to produce the form he did at the beginning of last season.

MIKEY

I think Johnson gets slaughtered far too much...

He is prone to make defensive mistakes once in a while but he is a lot more consistent than people give him credit for.....

As a right back his balance of defence and attack is among the best in the country....

LiverBird

If it wasn't for a 17 year old combining with a Titus Bramble mistake to set up Suarez it would have been LFC's worst start for 100 years.

That is a big concern.

Yet another Johnson mistake leads to a goal. What is Rodgers playing at? His system is clearly not working, and he doesn't seem able to read the game. All 4 games this season opposing managers have targeted Johnson, whatever side he is on. And still Rodgers has no answers.

2 points from 12 is very very poor. Here's how all the new managers are doing.

Swansea 7
West Brom 7
Tottenham 5
A Villa 4
Norwich 3
LFC 2

Toothless up front, problems in defence.

I can understand LFC fans concerns but I am in the least worried as I can see light at the end of the tunnel. To rebuild and restrategise to be where we want to be, with 4 games played, and seeing match improvements, the worst league position after game 38 will be an improvement on the 8th in the last campaign. I stand by that, as I believe in BR and his vision. Rome was not build in a day. This is just the beginning of the walk back to greatness.... however unpleasant it looks now!

It IS LFC worst start for a 100 years.. its not it would of been! and next is man-u... good luck to us in getting anything of them now

Very good post indeed. Rodgers as well as not knowing what to do just does not give you any confidence or inspiration on the touchline.

Liverpool played well for long spells in the game, hit the woodwork twice and overall deserved to win the game. If you were all expecting miracles this early in the season with a new manager then you need your heads testing. We have started badly but the abuse of Rodgers is ridiculous - does he not deserve time rather than constant criticism? You're all falling into the trap of criticising the manager - this is why he was hired by FSG, he makes an easy target. Give Rodgers time - if you have anger to vent aim it at the owners, they are accountable for the club as a whole.

SMc

If it wasn't for a lack of talent you may have had a career in football...

Oh yea and Benitez waving his arms like a dancer really inspired me too....Who cares what he looks like on the sideline. Half of Mourinho's games he looks ready to fall asleep. That's why Rodgers is being criticized. Wow! You people truly have no understanding of this game....

Man U is a blessing in disguise, we only showed up last year against the big guns, a win against Man U could kick start our season.
Andrew

Borini is brand new. Give him a chance to knock a few goals in and we won't be toothless, once he is on form it will bring out the best in Suarez as well.
Our new playing style is a radical change that needs time.
Johnson needs to concentrate more in games. I would personally sell him next summer and start Kelly. As good as Johnson is at going forward he is terrible at defending and tracking back at times.
Kelly is a much better defender.
If Enrique can't get back on form I would sell him as well and bring in another left back who will do the job.

MIKEY

And if it wasn't for 2 elementary mistakes for Skrtel and Johnson, we'd have 4 more points, 2 wins and have beaten the current league champs.

if my Aunt had ba*ls she'd be my uncle.

If it wasn't for Skrtel's two mistakes against City and Sunderland ( was his poor marking that left Fletcher unchallenged to busy with man rather than watching the ball ), then it wouldn't be quite as bad of starts!

Your point is pointless. These things happen. Just get behind the team and look at the improvement in saturdays game!

I know it is oft mentioned on here for plastic fans to go support man Citeh etc etc but all joking aside, if you want to do something like that at a game then go away. Don't support LFC anymore. This kind of action is not needed or wanted.

Because that is going to give him the confidence and motivation to improve? He doesn't need agro from supporters he just needs some competition...if he wasnt under the impression that he's an automatic starter he would have to pull his finger out

people need a reality check on here. Our opening fixtures include city, arsenal and united. yes, losing to WBA was a shock, but largely down to a stunning goal and aggers questionable red card. A draw at the stadium of light is a good result. Honestly once we notch our first win and have a run against teams not included in the top 4, you will see us leap right up the table. The goals will come. I think people forget how good luis suarez can be as a stiker. When Assaidi is ready to go, thats sterling, suarez and assaidi.... a very, very exciting attacking three; even though ive not seen much of him, Im lead to believe he might have been an absolute steal! Combine that a midfield of Gerrard, Allen and Nuri Sahin (when match fit) - thats still a very strong team! People who say gerrards passed it are of their head. For England during the mid week he was the stand out player (despite his red card), pushing the team forward, picking out 50 yard passes all over the show. BR is a very good manager and fans calling for his head are personic. we're about 8 points off top four; just you wait until Chelsea play United, Arsenal, City etc. They will drop points in all three! relax people. keep the faith!

Rab

p.s, could you imagine the talent BR couldve brought in with 130 mill!

For £130 mil? Imagine the players he could buy...

Andy Carroll - £35mil
Jordan Henderson - £18mil
Stewart Downing - £20mil
Glen Johnson - £18mil
Fabio Borini - £12mil

So many options...

Don't think Rodgers is any good

Up until you said gerrard in midfield i agreed. but captain fantastic is no longer good enough to be in the team

I have been looking at va lot of sites and the consesus is that we should get rid of rodgers and get back rafa. Just one question to all those that think this after rafa won the champions league with the team that was mainly houllier's how long did it take him to build his team that got second? and how long after that did it take for the team to start failing? Dont forget rafa was the one that let allonso go and mascherano, we gave rafa time and kenny so why cant people give rodgers the time? is it because he replaced kenny? lets give him time and our support and if by the end of the season were relegated then start to shout, but just remember mancity were relegated not to many years ago and look were they are now

Rafa didn't let Mascherano go that was roy hodgson who then bought POULSON as his replacement ?? WTF

Alonso and Arbeloa were the first 11 team players who left under Rafa.

Torres under Kenny (not his doing)

But i agree no to Rafa return, Give BR time and he'll turn us into tittle contenders.

BUT thanks for the memories and great nights Rafa you'll still always be an LFC legend and thats a FACT :)

UCCM

We gave Kenny time. but the owners did not

mgz

Who signed Alonso, Mascherano, Tores, Reina, Agger, and who's acadamy ideas are the only way this club is going to survive.
He was consistently good in europe, and only had that one last bad season.
The Houllier thing and Alonso are getting on my nerves now to be honest. If houllier was so good why didn't he win it? And when you have no cash to strenghen a team with lots of holes then you have to sell an asset, are you suggesting SG should have gone? as who else would have generated the cash needed. There was also the fact that the rules on home grown players changed and he had a younger Mascherano and a certain Lucas. I am a massive fan of Alonso's but it was the only position we had quality in and could get a lot of cash.
Now I am backing the new manager let's give him time and see how he goes, but I am not copying old posts and having Dig's at a man who did well for us, and who's legacy which is the acadamy, may be his greatest achievement.
I don't really care if you agree, I am sick and tired of moaning "fans", we have become famous for it over the last few years. Moan, Moan , Moan, we get no luck, the owners are no good, the papers hate us, it's all Fergies fault!!
Man up! support the team and those there now, and stop having a dig at those that tried and did well, because you can say one thing about Rafa, he's more of a fan than you.

Stopped reading when you said we gave Kenny time, that's exactly what we didn't do and why things are grim at the minute NO CONTINUITY!

Waro

Owners did not give kenny chance? are you kidding ? the owners did ! they give him a full season and we finished 8th , horrible downing signing , creep adam , homesick striker andt carrol (although i like him) , selfish suarez , hendo , and enrique ... only suarez and enrique in our first 11 now ... he's wasting the owner money , wasted more than 100 millions and ends up 8th place ? thats horrible ... he's always too late to make a sub , which make me really dissapoint , my friend also have same though bout kenny ... give rodgers chance ! rafa? yes he's the one who brought alonso , but he's the one who thinks than garreth barry is btter than alonso , so he's letting alonso go to get cash and end up missing garreth barry ... owners done good so far , the've saved us from debt and horrible hicks and gillet .

Evan . Indonesia . YNWA

Kenny get as much time as we could afford - he was never going to be the answer. He spent lavishly on poor players, engaged poorly with the media and hurt the clubs image in the process, failed to string 3 wings together in the league and was clearly out of his depth. I love Kenny, he is a legend, but his position was completely untenable and he had to go, anyone who thinks giving him another season would have made all the difference is living in the clouds.

First of all; I can not believe all the negativity. FSG saved us from administration and points deduction, they have also invested heavily in the club, and have a plan for the future. Money wasted on overspending and bad business is previous managements fault. Benitez, Comolli and or beloved Dalglish. If we had gotten in one more attacker this window I think most would be reasonably satisfied, but it fell through. Rodgers and the team needs to be given time and backing, also called _support_! We desperately need stability. We need Enrique back and our back four the same in most games, Johnson is not stable enough to play on the left. So let's hope we won't be marred by injuries. Patience my friends!

pronin.

Fantastic post pal

Andy

Thanks Norwegian hardcore red here. :)

We have record shirt sponsorships (Standard Chartered), record manufacturing sponsorships (Warrior), numerous other new sponsorship avenues, record sales (Torres)... so why hasn't there been the investment on the pitch? Or if not in the pitch in a new stadium or an expansion? FSG will sell this club if they get a decent offer, they are not in it for the long run. As long as they turn over a decent profit I do not think they are too concerned about our league position or our club as a whole. The blind loyalty to them has to stop. They did rescue us from Hicks & Gillett - but they didn't do it out of the kindness of their hearts. They did it to make money, they are business men.

We, as a club, have had a succession of bad owners and mismanagement and, until FSG really commit and invest in the club there are no indications that they will be any different. Given how many poor owners we have had we should all, as fans of the club, remain highly suspicious and on our guard until FSG really do invest significantly.

Out of curiosity does anybody know when to expect an announcement on the stadium? This year? Sometime next year?? This issue has dogged us for 2 decades now, it really does need sorting out...

SMc

SMc,
"...so why hasn't there been the investment on the pitch?" Were you watching the windows under Kenny? Also, how are we covering the outgoings which were/are higher then the incomings. We as a club have large pockets of bad and blind fans. Get on with supporting, it is much more fun than moaning. Honestly. Give it a go. For you own sanity, stop the hate and give it time.

We should fear for the future of are club!
All those who believe every statement from FSG read the Boston press talk to Sox fans! They all want FSG to sell up!

We have H&G the second

I have never doubted FSG were H&G
Part II

Most Boston fans are unhappy with the state of the team right now, but very few are pushing for FSG to sell. They've done some good things here and deserve credit. First, they settling our stadium problem. It took ten years to finish, but it's done. Second, they brought home the first championship in 86 years, and then another three years later.

Look, I know there are things about Liverpool, the city, the club, the fans, that outsiders can't understand or appreciate, but that works the other way around, too. There's no way for you to know how much that 2004 championship meant to fans here. We had seen the team come close so many times only to lose at the last possible moment in the most improbable ways. (Google the names Buckner, Armbrister, Dent.) This was one neurotic, lucky-charm-carrying, curse-dreading, lost and muttering fanbase. We should have been locked up somewhere. I wouldn't say we're cured now, but we feel a bit better. Give it time, you hot heads.

John CT

Actually, nobody in America wants FSG to sell their beloved Boston red six, maybe a group of 3-4 people do- but that's that
AnfieldUSA

I'm not interested in Yankee rounders teams, I'm interested in LFC. Different game, different rules, different finances. Stop this fatuous comparison game.
ND

To clarify for those not living in America; the Red Sox fans built an identity out of supporting their team when they were crap or when they had a good team for a bit and simply faltered at the last hurdles. They glorified their bad luck and sang louder and supporter harder. They took pride in their misery. Then FSG took over and made them in to a top team, won it all after an 86 year wait and then did it again 3 years later. The Sox fans loved it in a whole new way.

Now, the red sox have started another rebuild project because too many 'stars' under performed. The fans have once again embraced this sh***ness and are bitching with a new found glee. But underneath they secretly believe FSG will build them a title challenger again. They are happy. FSG run the Red Sox extremely well.

Hi Eds,
Any update on the fitness of Joe Cole and his availability for Thursday's game? I think it would be good to have him playing all the cup games where he can work on his form and possibly push for a place in the first-choice 11.
Cheers
Joe B {Ed002's Note - There will be an update tomorrow but would not hold your breath regarding Cole being ready for Thursday.}

I think we need a reality check. Rodgers has come into a squad that was made up of players like Skrtel, Gerrard, Reina etc who have been at the club for a number a years, and 4 or 5 overpriced british signings from last season. He has been tasked with the job of re-building the squad, which little to no money! Hes got rid of some players who were on BIG wages, Aquilani and the likes and bought in some young talenetd players.

The future is bright with the likes of Sterling and Shelvey. But unfortunatly there is no quick fix.

We need to allow Rodgers to do his job and can not expect instant success and change!

The board and Rodgers have the right idea and are looking at the long term.

I genuinally believe we will be competing for the top four positions again, but we have to wait until Rodgers has his own team and they are used to how he wants to play

He has spent 30m

He has spent 30m.one of the biggest spenders in europe

IF the young players come good and that is still only an IF

What will happen when the sheik come calling and multiplies their salary by a factor of 5-10 times?

Do you still see them at anfield or main road

Honestly we only spent 30m. But we mange to reduce the wage bill. 30m is nothing in my opinion- all in a days work for Chelsea. 10 biggest spenders in europe, how many other clubs that had money and spent it spent less than us?
AnfieldUSA {Ed002's Note - Many, many clubs. AC Milan, Palermo, Arsenal, Spurs, CSKA, Porto, Dortmund, Genoa, Lille - how many clubs would you like listed.}

If man city buys them for mega money how is that a bad thing?
Just reinvest the money back into the squad and academy.

MIKEY

To all the 'he spent 30m' replies, including the Ed. It's apples and oranges. Rodgers spent the money starting a rebuild process, the other teams with money who spent less spent it on maintenance purchases to augment existing established squads.

Chelsea and Citeh spent 15 to 20 times more on their rebuilding projects, Spurs spent double what Buck spent in their first year of their rebuld and more the next year.

30m to basically revamp a squad that wants to be top 4 is peanuts and if Buck works a miracle he'll make top 6 this
year. So I expect a top 4 finish. I have faith in this team and it's manager.

Alright thanks Ed, really open da eyes.

just found this on the Boston Sports Blog

Of course the Red Sox aren't for sale. And Josh Beckett is untradeable.

It wasn't long after Red Sox CEO Larry Lucchino embarrassingly referred to the duplicitous Fenway sellout streak as a "pride" for fans Thursday morning on WEEI that Fox Business reporter Charlie Gasparino broke the story that the Fenway Sports Group was "quietly shopping" the Red Sox. The report was greeted with the swift and firm denial that we've historically come to expect from these owners when there's at least a hint of truth to the story.

After releasing a statement in which he left loopholes like five-year-olds leave Goldfish crackers on the family room rug, principal owner John Henry went on the team's flagship station to deny the report and discuss the perception that Liverpool was siphoning financial resources from Boston. Henry said that the biggest issue at the time of the Premier League purchase was not realizing that each fan base would be upset about what is spent on the other entity.

Now, Henry is too rich to live in a cave, but that's either an outright lie, or he's completely out of touch with his fan bases. It was everybody's immediate concern, and one voiced on multiple platforms, including this one. In fact, a November, 2010 column in this space prompted Henry to tweet the article out on Thanksgiving Eve and treat it as "nonsense." Yet, seems to me we're still debating the same stuff.

Enter Gasparino, who wrote: "According to people with direct knowledge of the matter, the biggest challenge for Henry is running two expensive sports franchises. Fenway Sports purchased the Liverpool team for $476 million in 2010, and has been widely criticized for overpaying for players who have under-delivered...

In fact, people close to executives inside Fenway say management has been increasingly focused not on the Red Sox, but on the future of the Liverpool team."

So, here we are. Who do you believe? The owners who continue to lie to you on a nightly, distribution basis, or a guy with financial ties who may have spoken to the men and women rich enough to have been involved in sale discussions? Hmm, let me think.

It's not going to happen next week, but it's coming. John, Tom, and Larry may not be going "anywhere" as COO Sam Kennedy said last night, but these owners are going to take the next $2 billion offer and escape town. Why wouldn't they? They will have more than doubled their original investment, and face a long, uphill battle in proving that they are indeed competent for the long-term health of this franchise, one that now has Lucchino on board for another three years. Please, hold your applause.

But please, the more the Red Sox deny, the more you wonder. When Henry gets involved, you know somebody is getting a little too close to the truth. See his bursting in on Felger and Mazz last October in a passionate plea for saving his franchise's image as an example.

Hard to imagine, but that image has only gotten increasingly worse.

In his denial e-mail to the Globe yesterday, Henry wrote: "A sale of any kind is so far from our thinking it hasn't even come up apart from technical planning issues involving death or disability. This report is completely without foundation."

Apart from.

Look, that's not to say this isn't the case and that the team was only doing due diligence in the event of a life-altering situation. Maybe they were. But what's wrong with admitting that? They simply can't help themselves to not twist the truth at every step.

The signs of a sale have begun percolating to the point where they are difficult to ignore. After last month's mega-deal with the Dodgers, Sports Hub producer Chris Curtis wondered if the salary dump was the first sign of any eventual sale.

Due to our country's nearly $17 trillion of debt, almost every economist has stated that whether President Obama is re-elected or Mitt Romney takes the White House, the capital gains taxes will increase dramatically; making this offseason as good a time as any for John Henry and his partners to sell the franchise.
Given that the team was purchased for less than a third of the two plus billion dollar value of the Dodgers, it would make great financial sense for both the owners and the limited partners to sell now rather than wait for the additional taxes to be instituted.

Not even the harshest critic of the current ownership has been able to claim they are poor businessman, and this trade made perfect economic sense.

Which is what this group has been interested in all along.

Look, Henry and Co. have been great here. They delivered a pair of titles, and restored Fenway Park. But things have nose-dived, and Red Sox fans are fed up. As many people feared would happen, they have their hands in way too many ventures, likely and erroneously assuming that everybody on board would immediately become Liverpool, NASCAR, and...um, LeBron fans. That only speaks to their inability to grasp the mentality of Boston sports fans. Not true, they'll tell you, all different entities. Well, if Gasparino is right, Liverpool's financial problems may, in part, force Henry to sell the Red Sox. We all wondered if that might one day be the case despite the pompous retorts from FSG that everything is "separate."

"Completely, and utterly false" is the mantra being preached on Yawkey Way about the sale rumors.

They will sell Red Soxx AND Liverpool.

The in between the lines 'For Sale' signs are up.

Why cant you sign free agents in the closed window on fifa ed? Im sure alot of the numbskulls on here wanting everyone sacked is thinking the same thing! {Ed002's Note - I have no idea, sorry - I have never seen it or any other fantasy based games.}

You are truly missing out ed, playing one of these games gives you your coaching badges and allows you to make better calls of judgement than those in real time situations, and also means that you can go for targets that the likes of FSG wouldn't entertain. For instance i got Messi in 2018 for 100 mil, now if Mr B and FSG follow my strategy then surely this can be accomplished? right ed. Oh and love your work

after reading lots of posts, ive come to the conclusion most havent a clue about what they spout.
The manager is fine, young and will become a legend in time, the system is fine, we know that works regardless.
I think the problem we have is we dont have the so called senior players to suit such a quick, fluid moving way of playing.
After watching the last 3 games, Gerrard is no longer a box to box midfielder unless hes told not to run back anymore, first problem encountered, play him more in an attacking role.
Shelvey, im sure he has a great future but Jan Molby he aint, hes very very slow on the field, so thats 2 immobile players in midfield.
Sahin, yes we know hes new so maybe ill reserve judgement on him, Lucas we miss a lot really, i never appreciated the job he actually does until he was injured.
I think with a little re-shuffle in centre mid, Id play Jonhson further forward, Downing at left back as he seems to have some speed and mobility, keep Kelly at right back.
I think its time to demote Skertel as for me he is not a good reader of the game ( In my opinion) Bring the young lad Coates in for a few games.
Also we have a number of good lads in the reserves in all areas of the field, why not try and integrate them into the new system, whats BR got to lose?
I think if he persists with the players he has then he may well be barracked throughout the season.
Use what talent we have whether it be young or senior, but dont be afraid to mix and match, its LFC so the young lads will give 120% not 80% like most on the field now.
Also id like to point out Suarez, great individual player but not a team player in my view, the chances and passes i see wasted are phenominal to be honest.
BR or someone needs to have a word, him Gerrard and Shelvey give the ball away far to much in my opinion, its not rocket science my friends, keep the ball and the opposition find it harder to score, give the ball away and dont try win it back, they score like whats happened in most of the games.
Am i right or wrong? Football is so simple and a joy to watch when played correctly, its not as though these players are new to the game.
Anyway to summarise, id change some personnel and positions and see were that leads, cant get any worse at the moment can it.
Justice for the 96.

Why are FSG not looking for new owners. They are not wanted by most of the fans and are still getting abuse on twitter after every game.

By most do you mean a small 1% of "Fans" that have no idea....do you refer to the minute fifa trolls that have nothign better to do after school than abuse people who stopped us from away trips to Aldershot.

Al

Because even persons are allowed an opinion, Not matter how simple that opinion is.

Really Twitter ?

The amount of great buissiness ideas that have come from twitter blows my mind, So seeing as twitter demands it it must be a GREAT idea.

UCCM

Because they realise that the abuse is coming from teenagers with time on their hands .

It is 22 years since we won the League . You can't blame the current owners for that .

Once in that dreadful position you clearly have to strip everything down and start again , that is what they are doing .

Ask yourself , when Kenny was blowing £130m were you on these pages begging him to stop ?

Because everyone on Twitter talks such sense!

I honestly cannot believe the pressure the fans are putting on our team already. Saturday we absolutely dominated Sunderland and the one time our defence fell asleep they got their goal. We are building up to something good we really are, just need to start taking our chances and the team will be much, much different. I have faith in Rogers! YNWA

Because domination has got us 2pts from 4 games. Because everyone says 2 mistakes cost us the Arsenal game but they capitalised on those which is efficient. Worst start in 100yrs! Sticking rigidly to one strategy instead of having a flexible team.

Look at the facts! How many times did we dominate a game last season without getting a victory? MANY. But i have faith in Rodgers too. In ten matches we are number 6!
DanielDenmark

Agreed we are playing well and i dont see where the huge moans are coming from. We didnt buy an out and out striker (dempsey) and that was a scandal imho. That is the only reason we havent won the majority of our games. If we can convert possassion into goals we will fly up the league!

Just watched first episode of Being Liverpool here in Canada. For those worried about the coverage of the KK sacking, there was none. A small part showing Werner and JH talking to camera about it, Werner smirked which got my back up a little, but JH claims KK agreed from day 1 if the ideal candidate came along he would step aside, and therefore he was only a stepping stone.

On funny side, it appears none of the team have any balance, as portrayed in the yoga section, although Jonjo has a good sense of humour.

Not sure Pascoe's son slotting Buck's daughter is a good idea.

Watching how pleased Lucas was to get the all clear to rejoin the squad to train, i feel even more gutted for him now.

Looking forward to watching the second episode hope they show both teams coming out for the Toronto game as my son was a mascot with the Toronto number 5.

All in all, i was really concerned with how the club would be portrayed to appeal to American market and so far so good i suppose.

Here's hoping for 2 win's before i catch the second episode.

They are still waiting for the ideal candidate then.

Just watched Being Liverpool in Florida, was a bit sceptical before it come on but there was nothing too embarassing to come out. The players were generallly taking the p*ss during the meditation part and the meeting with the Red Sox was a bit naff a lot of the show was at players homes with their families. For all the negative poster on here listen to Dave Kirby's comments and support the club weve had a hard start to the season but I will only start to worry if we dont make the most out of our easier October fixtures.

Good grief. I've just trawled through today's posts and I have to say they take the biscuit of some of the most ignorant and inane I've ever seen on here. The plastic 'fans' and outright trolls have had a convention on here today. Please could we resume normal service and consign these clowns to the trash cans they deserve. While BR is manager he gets our support, and while the team is still called Liverpool FC, so do they. Stop whining and start supporting the team - through every storm.

Must say my love for the club is deeper now more than ever they need a 12th man and i for one are right behind fsg brenden and the wizard that is the new joohnie barne's . JUSTICE WILL COME FOE OUE BLOVED 96 and as team we will unit under B rodger's have faith YNWA

Most pips with their negative post don't really understand football..watching most of our games u know we just need a combative mid.when lucas comes back things would be different..they keep insulting johnson they seem to forget how many vital blocks he made in the box after his error.we get really exposed at the back cos of the lack of a dm.yeah suarez is wasteful bla bla bla..he was our top scorer last seson..and saved us against sunderland..blah blah blah borini should be in the center he also wasted chances too..we have a long way to go and we need to accept that there are no quick fixes...and as for rodgers all our key players must not be in the team.for thursday..cos manu have too much quality and we need to be at our best..YNWA

We need a goal scorer

Tunnel vision-4th from bottom. look at goals scored last season and this. Keep burying head and we'll be finished

Hi ed's hope everything is well,

Just wondering firstly was our ex Swedish winger deemed this good when he was at Liverpool?

Secondly what's happened with sama and wisdom?
They seemed to play well in pre season but they didn't even make the europa squad?

Finally gutted that suso didn't make the bench against Sunderland

Kind regards

Defence=Too high up the pitch-suseptable to ball over the top, down channels or the break generally.Glen cant defend! Skrtels positioning and concentration isnt working in new system.3 spread accross middle leaves us dominated in midfield. And often no width. 3 "sortve" uptop far too deep picking pocession up 35 yards from goal. Suarez and Borini making same runs ontop of each other.Suarez defo shouldnt be on left.Behind Borini or right.Borini offers no presence upto,Mainly again cos too deep.Allen gets criticised at times correctly for no forward pass. But most've time theres no one forward or very little support if there is.Often no one in box.Not surprised were struggeling to score. But defence aint adapting well either.Thommo and Charlie Nic correct when said Fenway got burnt in KK's dealings. But as they said that was then, their ideals make sense to degree but that was old regimme. You appointed so must back Rodgers more than you have,as he shouldnt pay for errors of past. And footy isnt run by those prudence rules being quite so rigid if you want success. Were lethargic and slow with no one running beyond and no support for them.I fear a long hard season and do worry. You look at Siggurdson and Dembele and you have to say they wouldnt have cost earth to improve us. And sticking on that theme Lambert, Rhodes and even Defoe(though he misses a lot) wouldnt have cost earth at least short term for goals. The latter at least gets there to miss them.Suarez has to beat 4 men to get shot off, no wonder hes k ackered at point of finishing. And though its early Borini at mo looks short've whats required at LFC.I can only wonder and hope Fenway(despite denial) are indeed putting out feelers for a buyer for Redsox.Because were way off, and gaps widening. Sadly were an also ran.Im not moaning, its true. And i feel Fenway cannot run Two giants competetively without sacrificing one've us. And too me if successful LFC would be more lucrative worldwide. Whatever, something has too change-too be potent, score goals to compete.

While I disagree overall, sensible points made and pretty well written. I have no issue with constructive criticism. I still think most negative points are over emphasised and not enough of the positives to be balanced but didnt leave me more worried at the poster than our current position.

Andy K

How can anyone disagree? The goalscoring facts, Transfer c ck ups, Leauge table this and last season are there for all to see! We go and SUPPORT every game. But the time to debate is surely on these forumns. And the above are facts, plain to see, indisputable. Pointing out makes you realist wanting issues addressed. Having watched our Reserves/U21's thump Chelsea away the other day (recorded it and watched it this a.m.) I have to say that any reports on our "demise" are premature.
Raheem Stirling is living proof that if you're good enough you're old enough. The Europa League is an excellent chance for us to take a look at Yesil, Adorjan, Wisdom, Ngoo, Pacheco, Sama, Assaidi, Coady, Suso and Morgan on an elevated stage.
Unfortunately, the kids play Inter Milan in the NextGen the night before our Young Boys Berne clash and we play United on Sunday so a lot of thought will have to be exercised re the squads.
Personally, I'd use Stirling in the NextGen so he's fresher for Sunday.
Yesil looked very lively against Chelsea and I've always thought Adorjan has a big future. The lad Ngoo must be a nightmare to mark and he knows where the net is.
The U21's are far more suited to Brendan's style than our fist team.......Skrtel and Gerrard are struggling to adapt. We miss Lucas (again) because there just isn't anyone to "spoil" opposition attacks a-la Hamman, Mascherano.
It was a massive coup getting Nuri Sahin to join us on loan and it's inconceivable that we won't try to get the best out of him.....
A dream midfield (for Brendan's style) could include ALLEN,SAHIN,LUCAS,PACHECO,SUSO and ADORJAN....Not together,of course.
Defensively we are letting ourselves down at the moment. Skrtel and Kelly are a bit off-colour and Enrique's gone into hiding.
The attack needs something different and, for me, YESIL and NGOO can offer something different to BORINI and MORGAN as the "goal-poachers".

The team versus Young Boys Berne could look a little bit like this ;

GK; JONES
DEF; FLANAGAN,COATES,CARRAGHER,ROBINSON
MID; HENDERSON,SAHIN,ADORJAN
ATT; DOWNING, YESIL, ASSAIDI

SUBS; GULACSI,AGGER,WISDOM,COADY,PACHECO,
SUSO,NGOO

....Then again, it could be totally different.

No chance we would take that squad and it's not like some players need a rest. More like...

Reina; Kelly, Carragher, Coates, Enrique; Allen, Henderson, Sahin; Borini, Suarez, Downing

Subs; Jones, Johnson, Skrtel, Suso, Shelvey, Morgan, Assaidi

There's no point chucking so many kids in so soon when we can use the game to get a better understanding of how BR wants to play. It's right to wrap Gerrard and Agger in cotton and it's also right that we let our NextGen team develop together.

Get off BR's back and let Him do his job ,come on we are supposed to be Liverpool fans get behind the team, BR has embraced the club and the city and in general so far has made the correct decisions with a powerful tool called common sense somthing that has been amazingly lost in the running of the club in recent years

The owners and manager are trying to do the right thing let them do it

Ed's et al,
I've heard, that after the Munich air disaster, LFC offered United players on loan and also help in paying wages.
I've scoured the internet and have come up with nothing, and wondered if anyone could shed any light on this?

Redjinal {Ed001's Note - Busby was a Liverpool legend, but I have never heard anything regarding that, though he was certainly offered help, I have not heard it extended to the loan of players. Though it wouldn't surprise me, many clubs did so.}

Wire red {Ed001's Note - there are just as many negative knobs at games, I used to sit right by one who did nothing but whinge about everything and anything.}
