I agree completely Sahko was good tonight.
I also think Lallana is only a bit of confidence away from showing his best form. The only criticism I have is our defensive organisation. How many times did 2 even 3 players go for the same ball!! 7 goals in 3 games says it all. I think with Clyne, Gomez, Sahko, Moreno we have a few decent defenders but they don't seem to play to a plan?

17 Sep 2015 22:46:06
Lallana is a squad player at best. He can bring energy to a game when we've looked lethargic. But he's far from a starter.

Agree10 Disagree18

18 Sep 2015 01:21:45
Lallana was poor IMO bar the goal.

Agree5 Disagree6

18 Sep 2015 01:55:37
I disagree, he gave it away a few too many times tonight to be fair (and his fluffed lines when through on goal was not pretty), but he has high energy, good feet, is always looking to play people in and has a scoring touch.

It often looked like something might just happen when he had the ball, which has been sorely lacking in the last couple of games.

I think he should play as part of a midfield three as he's capable of dropping deeper to pick up the ball and effective at transitioning it into attackers, while also has a good high press in defence. Would leave Coutinho with a free role behind the CF's.

Agree4 Disagree1

18 Sep 2015 07:42:40
There won't be any CFs playing together with Rodgers in charge; that much is obvious. Lallana was poor, his goal apart, and it is this inconsistency that he needs to stamp out before Firmino clicks or Ibe get back to form.

Agree3 Disagree0

18 Sep 2015 08:43:12
Not trying to be funny but as soon as a defender gets within 2 foot or lallana he just surrenders the ball. Bar the goal he was average at best.

Agree2 Disagree0

17 Sep 2015 20:13:50
Sakho was a class above our other players tonight. A decent point and some positive things from the game. Gomez looked assured at the back. Rossiter played well but tired as did Chirivella also that was a surprise given he didn't start.
What remains a concern is Mignolet, his lack of authority and control when he has the ball at his feet is going to cost us critical points through the season.
Good to see the kids play but why the hell park the bus in the final 15 minutes. It just allowed them to throw bodies forward and it was inevitable they were going to nick one with players not keeping their shape. 4 players getting in each others closing down 1 and leaving others free inside the back.
A point away from home in Europe will do for me.

Believable12 Unbelievable3

17 Sep 2015 20:27:05
Happy with Rossitter. The boy could pass something our senior midfielders couldn't this season. He would dictate the game from midfield in future.

Agree15 Disagree6

18 Sep 2015 01:25:11
We were parking the bus from the first minute with how deep we set up and isolating Origi. Sometimes, we couldn't even get out of our own half because we pass the ball around aimlessly. Against a piss average Bordeax side, not good enuff.

Agree2 Disagree2

18 Sep 2015 07:40:23
It's pretty obvious the tactics this season in all away games will be to park the bus and hope to not concede. If we score (like we did through individual brilliance by Lallana yesterday and Coutinho against Stock, great), and sadly that is the "great" philosophy Rodgers has settled on.

18 Sep 2015 23:22:56
With that analysis AG, how is BR any diff from Roy?

17 Sep 2015 20:09:53
We had slid to number five in the EUFA rankings ( after the highs of rafa ) when fsg took overwe are now 55??? Ed01 next time I'm alongside in Dubai can we meet up for a beer and discuss how this is good please?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - yes mate, that would be great, so long as it is not between the 28th of this month and the 7th of October as I will be back in England then to see my daughter.}

17 Sep 2015 20:56:25
I know this is selfish but will you still be doing the podcasts? I always look forward to them especially as I missed the last few games because of work. (Not sure I should be to upset about that though)

Hope you have a nice time btw :)

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - hopefully yes the podcasts will still get done.}

17 Sep 2015 20:06:02
I think a point away from home in Europe isn't bad, few good points & then not so good points. Can looks well off the pace to me, I think he a good player but he doesn't look all there for me at the minute. ibe seems to hav lost his ability to beat a man & hope he gets that back SOON. origi doesn't look like he will cut the Mustard for me but let's hope I'm wrong. positives: sakho was good defensively & his distribution was really good, made up to see rossiter,chiverella & brannigan get some game time & ings will prove to be a good buy I reckon. a point overall in the scheme of things isn't too bad I reckon.

Believable2 Unbelievable8

17 Sep 2015 20:19:04
We were awful and were very lucky to get a point. With better finishers they could have scored 3 or 4. I agree about Sakho but we knew he should play.

Agree9 Disagree8

17 Sep 2015 20:51:13
I agree we were bad but where did I say in my post we played well?? I said sakho looked good was happy to see kids get a game & ings will prove to be a good piece of business. After the nightmare week English clubs have had this week in Europe a point is better than a defeat, you agree with that?

Agree1 Disagree2

17 Sep 2015 22:19:57
And 3 points is better than a draw do you agree with that. Drives me nuts when people settle so easily for a point especially in a game against very very mediocre opposition.

Agree9 Disagree0

18 Sep 2015 01:32:05
Mcgoveb, that is the attitude we are being forced to accept and good on you and Fano to not accept it. We were aweful vs a Bordeaux team that is as average as teams in the Championship. We scored a goal, so what? You want a carnival? now people will call us negative whereas we are getting worse. If anything I a agree that Sahko proved why he's the best CB we have for the umpteenth time and the kids were solid. So much for the geniuses on here saying they aren't good enuff because they're not playing.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Sep 2015 19:56:15
Rossiter gave it away a couple times but just like last preseason never shys away from the ball. But what was that short corner in the 61st? Short corner then only origi in and we still cross??? And obviously mamadont play. That shoulder in the second that just flattened the guy almost made me yell during class

Believable0 Unbelievable0

17 Sep 2015 20:12:44
He was neat and so was his partner. they are young but should play alongside Lucas. We missed a DM today and the goal we conceded shows exactly.
Our midfielders have not put in a single challenge successful in last two games.
Moreno looked good to me and Sakho was brilliant. Migs yet gain kept his record in tact, not a single kick reached our player today.

Just want to know from Ed01, y are our midfielders not breaking the play when someone is running at us?

Do we have a peerage training for tackles and challenges?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Chirivella did try and tackle, as did Rossiter, they were both just trying too hard. We usually train on pressing and harrying opponents, not tackling them. It is very rare for anyone to train on that these days.}

17 Sep 2015 20:17:07
Not good enough to play for LFC - maybe in the future, not at the moment. Not even from the bench or League cup sorry. Same with Ibe (AKa here 'the guy who is better than Sterling', ha ha). I looked at him very carefully today, I struggled to identify one time when he got the ball and didn't lose it. I don't say assist for goal - just give it to someone in white. Nada. And it is more or less the same with him since around his third game for us last season.

And no one will convince me it is BR's fault (other than playing him). Same with Origi. Not good enough. Moreno did close to nothing.

You can abuse me all day long for being not supportive of young players but I watch a lot of LFC and I didn't see anything that can make me at least hopeful since last March maybe. And I will not say on someone he is a good player if he isn't.

In each of our matches there is a very close competition between too arguments, BR should go because his team is so undermanaged and the players look so lost on the pitch or because he bought so poorly. Another closed one today. I think both arguments had a very strong case today, finished about 100:100 this one.

Agree3 Disagree9

17 Sep 2015 20:23:31
I don't think they should be played together but along with Lucas would make sense to me.
As people throw out different names to play the DM role, it's simply foolishness.
What worries me if Lucas gets an injury?

17 Sep 2015 20:35:42
Fanobip

Disagree on Rossitter as he looked good to me.
I don't think I have ever claimed Ibe better than Sterling here. He is just a winger pretty much like Ashley young.

Chirivella doing a very good impression of lucas, i'm impressed. :)

Believable3 Unbelievable0

17 Sep 2015 19:25:03
That was so cool from lallana. That's what he can do! Seems a different player who was clean through in the first half and bumbled around and the player who just lashed at a chance 10 minutes ago.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

17 Sep 2015 19:32:24
Ings nearly bettered it just there. That was a brilliant touch.

I know we're in bad form, but we have good players. Just need to use them right.

17 Sep 2015 19:48:15
Yep good players but unfortunately not great players
Give them a woeful manager and you ain't getting far

Great finish, But I really don't understand how is Brendan responsible for his wasteful first half performance mate?

This could be wise versa too mate. he is responsible for everything makes no sense. If so, Y do you go and buy players in the first place if the current one are good enough?

I don't think you understand the game one bit buddy.

17 Sep 2015 22:01:23
That is really bad times when harry tells you that you don't understand the game one bit.

Talk about a kick in the nads.

you haven't the first clue what you're talking about, as you prove daily
When FSG have had enough (fingers crossed it's sooner rather than later) who will they sack?
Lallana or Rodgers?

Agree5 Disagree1

18 Sep 2015 00:01:57
Rodgers is responsible for the players on the pitch and the tactics and formation deployed. If we create nothing and can't defend well, yes the players can be blamed but the setup is at fault too, but at the end of the day what Chris said is right. You don't get results, the manage pays the price

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Sep 2015 19:12:24
Maybe not the best game to judge, but Chirvella's looking tidy enough so far.

Mignolet shocking.
Moreno, Sakho and Gomez very positive

I know many aren't overly impressed with the line-up (moaning before we even start!)but I think we all have to say that it's great to see a fair few academy players in the squad for tonight! Such a nice thing to see when you can observe a player that the club has blooded, play for the team:)

I can't believe people are complaining about wholesale changes for this game.

Were small complaining about how poorly pl team is playing but are then up in arms when they get dropped?! We're all crying out for rossiter sand sakho to get a run out aren't we?

Believable4 Unbelievable0

17 Sep 2015 18:56:55

Hi Eds just a quick question, who in your opinion is close to breaking into the first team squad from the under 21 s or under 18 s many thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - the ones closest that are not in the team, are the lads that went out on loan.}

17 Sep 2015 17:14:32
Tough game tonight imo . Good to blood some of our lads in European games and hopefully don't get beat . Sahko starting is good news for me and hopefully no injuries . That one on Luke Shaw was a nightmare . Only chelsea winning in Europe so far, I think maybe the European teams are producing better football teams for less inflated transfer fees than we pay in england

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Bordeaux has an up and coming coach who has them playing pretty well but they are ranked 152 in Europe and are struggling to score enough goals. Liverpool should be reasonably comfortable.}

17 Sep 2015 13:54:44
Hi Eds, are you surprised that our style of play has been so poor given the hires of O'Driscoll, linders and mccallister?

Do you think this will noticeably improve due to the hiring of these guys?

Who do you see as likely to replace Rodgers if he goes? Who would you replace him with.

Thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - yes, though Linders is only really there to help ease the transition of youngsters into the squad, so it is not really likely to affect the style of play. I did think O'Driscoll and McAllister would bring more pragmatism and less emphasis on possession for possession's sake, but so far that has not shown. The manager is responsible for the way we play, so they can only do so much, but over time I would expect an improvement.}

17 Sep 2015 14:56:42
Hi Ed001, what do you think if O'Driscoll became caretaker and Gary Mac was assistant. Would they cope?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - in the short term it would be ok, but I don't think it is the long term answer.}

17 Sep 2015 10:21:52
I am loosely optimistic now that Sakho is getting a start. If he puts in a strong performance maybe, just maybe, there will be pressure to replace Lovren in the league. Skirtel will start every game regardless of form however.

Believable12 Unbelievable0

17 Sep 2015 12:24:37
I couldn't agree more! BR probably won't tho.

Agree5 Disagree0

17 Sep 2015 12:45:15
Sakho cannot save us alone. I have to admit BR never stops to surprise me with his obsession of resting players. We only go to France not Moscow, the season just started and he doesn't take half the team. Maybe he believes that even if we play our academy we are good enough to beat any team in Europe or that he is just desperate to leave the EL as quickly as possible. We lost the EL last year after he left Couts and Henderson at home although they were fit.

At least have them on the bench if you need them. Chelsea played yesterday against a very weak team. They still had a strong starting 11 and when Willan got injured Costa who has a long termhamstring problem replaced him. Who will replace Ings if he gets injured or our defenders?

I was looking forward to this game actually, now not even sure I will watch it.

Just like he did against Real Madrid last season. Yes, Bordeaux is not Real Madrid but they are a decent side from a decent league. We will be punished for that I have no doubt about that.

Agree5 Disagree2

17 Sep 2015 18:28:46
I don't think rodgers understands the concept of resting players. He'll rest a load of them needlessly for this one but will spam a teenager all year out of position until they either get injured or loose form. Again, he seems clueless in everything he does.

Agree2 Disagree0

17 Sep 2015 10:20:35
Is there any truth in Sakho being offered a new contract and if so is he likely to sign?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It was suggested a few weeks ago that he would be as he was unable to find a new club after being told he could leave.}

17 Sep 2015 13:17:35
He will not sign it if he deson't become a starter

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Sep 2015 13:21:43
Deschamps has urged Liverpool to let go of Sakho.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The problem is finding somewhere to go to that will pay what Liverpool will be looking for. As Liverpool need the money, the ideal situation if he could not be sold in January would be a loan to buy deal - still giving the income in this FFP year.}

17 Sep 2015 17:12:59
If he is not a regular by January, I expect Sakho to try and push for a move, but if he becomes a regular before that I suspect LFC will try an push him to sign a new deal.
