Lets forget jarvis and ashley young these players are not good enough, even tho jarvis is having a great season at wolves hes not world class, young is overrated he picks his games and all he does is come inside and does not play other players into play very selfish player imo and deffinetley not worth 25mil, A Johnson, he is a class player and with right offer could be persuaded to come to anfield, hardly gets 90mins at s**ty, and i think he could be a great addition to the squad, also turan now we know kenny likes the player but also could be a agreat addition to the squad, defour looks a great player also, plus c adam hes ok, yaan m vila he can play class on the ball wouldn't mind and offer in there, or sanchez of udinese weather there has been an offer from chelski we don't know but great player, striker possibly benzema ?? could he hack it in premier league, defensivley enrique for me not sure imo coentrao maybe also but has said premier league maybe not for him, could do with another CB maybe cahill?? thoughts guys

How can they have the PFA Awards when the season hasnt even finished, ive never understood thIs.
It should be a bigger event. With more awards, for eg: the golden boot and golden glove should be in it, most assists, fair play team award, goal of the season, save of the season, manager of the season, etc.
Also something like referee and linesman of the season, like on a performance stats basis, how many correct decicions, etc.
Thats how id do it anyway.

Hi Ed and Guests, you heard of Thomas eaves? lad who scored for oldham 3-0 bolton in preseason? we'll im a close friend to him, and he is hinting to me he is regretting his move to bolton after the superb form of sturridge and believe he should be elsewhere? From growing up with him, he is a goal machine and played for the school boys and was in the paper everyweek with a goal or two, he also featured on skill skool on soccer am, and changed the style of tricks etc. He is a big red fan, and his dad would love him to play for us. .

It's true, hence why he has dropped from being in the edge of breaking through to obscurity again. He'll be back in Spain by the end of August unless his attitude changes significantly.

I would definitely take Jarvis and/ or Young and/ or Adam if available.
I'm all up for boosting the British numbers at the club. Imagine this:

I would luv it if we signed downing . Technically brilliant , great delivery and vision. Isn't the fastest in the world - but a good honest pro. He can even play in the centre - I remember him playing there a few times for borough n was decent in the playmaker role. Better option than Adam?
Downing on the left and Milner on the right. Great competitor , fantastic technique and skill with great quality and like downing, can be used as a centre mid when needed.
With potentially two wingers in the team and carrol and Suarez up top- any striker that we sign wud have to be prepared for a bit of bench warming. With that in mind I think the following Should be considered :
Hugo rodellega - Wigan
Klasnic (heard slavan bilic saying he is one of Croatia's brightest prospects but just not getting a go at Blackburn
Caciedo - man city?
Conar wickham - Ipswich
And hopefully one of Morgan or ngoo to be promoted

I wouldhonestly be disappointed if we signed anyone who ranks higher than 50 on FIFA 11. Were Liverpool FC, were bigger than that. In fact, if I was KK o would wait until FIFA 12 is released then snap up a few top 20s before the other clubs.

Heard that scouts have been sent over to madrid to check out the young forward Alvaro Morata. Think this boy would be a quality back up to suarez and carroll, and is young enough to sit, learn and play hissocks off when called upon! what do you think?
No chance, Real see him as the new Raul (probably because they have a shocking youth setup). He will break into their first team next season.

I was joking about the FIFA thing but still, I don't see why he is any better than having Aurelio and Robinson. If Aurelio gets injured, use Robinson. If we need someone else, we can always use Johnson on the left and Kelly at right back

The problem with that is that Robinson will end up playing most of the season due to Aurelio injury problems. Aurelio is a great player, but is to injury prone, hence why we need to look for a LB. Ross

We are also believed to have a contract offer ready that he is understood to be happy with (makes you wonder about this mythical law of tapping up! ! ED who would you prefer to start at CB with Carra, Skrtel or Wilson. I mean skrtel has the exp and has been playing well but I can't deny that I want to see Wilson be given a few games at CB see how he does.

I saw this in the paper today here in Ireland, hats of to Ray and Ronnie.
I'm already getting excited about next season, great seeing some young lad's getting a game for the first team, with a few quality additions to the first team squad and KK will have us back on top where we belong.

FSG have said they want young players but also said they want to bring academy lads through.
So I think if kenny thinks he has lads in the reserves that are only a year or two away there might be a chance they buy older players to fit in until there ready.

I see alot of people wanting Fabio Coentroa (sp), And quoting 20mill for him, I wouldn't give 20pound for him, He can't defend at all, He is NEVER in position, Just watch him during games, Gaitan has to drop to left back to cover when he goes missing, In fact he is usually as far forward as striker, When the opposition have the ball, Yes he can attack but there are better attacking fullbacks than him who can defend and have good positional sense.
I think that's why his reputation hasn't got him a big move, Before Ramires or David Luiz.
So stop believing who the papers/ Internet tell you are good players, And watch players and have your own opinion. I'd bet anyone who watches hi for more than one game will have doubts about his ability.

Cause if they stay, maybe we would have a better chance of getting them if we qualify for the 2012-13 season. Cause as of now as people has there is no chance of signing them. Thanks ed

Hugo Lloris was being watched by Damien Comolli last night in the PSG V Lyon match.
Liverpool are growing increasingly worried that Pepe Reina may leave the club in the Summer and have now made Lloris one of their top targets to replace him should he leave. Reina is desperate to play Champions League football but Liverpool are trying to use Fernando Torres as an example that the grass isn't always greener on the other side.
Liverpool want to complete their Summer transfers as early on into pre-season as possible, in order to convince Reina that the squad will have much more quality and depth needed to push on up the league.

I think jarvis is a decent player, maybe bolton standard or somethin, not for us, as for young he is so greedy its untrue, i was a fan of his an thought he'd be a great buy but after watching him more an more he is really greedy an seems not to be a good team player, if we were to go to villa for a winger i'd go for downing or a cheeky bid for albrighton, payet looks a good player but i'd hav to see more of him to be sure, willian looks a great player but i think he'd want CL football an it looks like chelsea are in for him, if we were to look abroad i'd personally gor for either krasic or menez both top players

I've posted 2 rumours on here. I posted the Shrek (at it again) story on the Main Rumours page during the world cup (which the Mancs said i didn't).
I posted on Jan 4th on the Manchester United site that i heard that the Qatari Royal Family were going to be their new owners. They said they knew this for a while (which i believe) but still i was told the same thing.
Now the same person that told me these stories has told me that we are very interested in Shay Given, if Pepe goes (hasn't made up his mind).

Reina is currently in contract talks.
He was thinking about leaving but now wants to stay and play for Liverpool football club (the best club in the whole world).
Liverpool have been scouting Neuer and looked at Henessey. but that will stop now cause Reina said he wants to stay! The new contract is to: give him a pay rise; remove the 20mill release clause; and stop the media talking about where hes gonna go!
Think positive guys. Given is past it now anyway, we won't sign him even if pepe did leave.
Sir Kenny is in talks as well.

Well after yesterday game I'm sure it open Pepe's eyes that Arsenal are no better than us. Also it shows with our record against top 4 oppo we are deffo on the up and up.

I've posted 2 rumours on here. I posted the Shrek (at it again) story on the Main Rumours page during the world cup (which the Mancs said i didn't).
I posted on Jan 4th on the Manchester United site that i heard that the Qatari Royal Family were going to be their new owners. They said they knew this for a while (which i believe) but still i was told the same thing.
Now the same person that told me these stories has told me that we are very interested in Shay Given, if Pepe goes (hasn't made up his mind).

I posted the above on 14th March about Shay Given as you can see. But now it seems the rumours are growing about Given. As a replacement for Reina (If he goes).
I'm not saying that Shay Given is coming. I'm saying i was told this on March 12th now some sites are also saying the same. But it's the British media saying it, so it must be false.
Just what i heard too about Given being a possible replacement for Reina.

I think forlan would be a good buy, we would have 3 quality strikers, yes he may be getting old but he is a goal machine and would give some time for our youngests to develop. for 8mill euros it would be a very good price for him

Yes he is technically and skillfully wise brilliant but his final ball is not great everytime I have watched him over the past year, he would suit suarez but hes not a winger that would suit carroll. first off this post makes no sense,
it hasn't been announced that we've reached an agreement for enrique.
enrique has been one of newcastle's best performers this season.
nobody knows how much he would cost 15m is pure guess work.
i don't think we could sign a "superstar left back for 20m.
bosingwa has done nothing at chelsea- hence the reason he's on a free in the summer, and also he is a RB so why would we go after him anyway

I heard Newcastle are apparently interested in Jay Spearing as part of any deal for Enrique.I would let them have him myself, even though he is all heart, I think he will never become a top player.He gets great press off the fans, because he has come through the ranks , if lucas would have made that challenge yesterday he would have been slaughtered by certain fans.I think we need better quality to be honest, especially for the first team. I am not saying get rid of him as he has proven he could do a job for us like a little terrier.but a serious 5 million offer for him and I would snap their hands off.

Watching the game yesterday I feel Robinson can only be a season or so away from being a 1st team regular.
Hes good in a tackle and definetly got pace.
So next season Kelly on the right.
Johnson on the left with Robinson as cover.
Then season after next.

How do you know this is true? I know its been posted here many times, but I don't think there's ever been confirmation anywhere. If its true its a real shame because I think he's a fantastic prospect. That kind of attitude problem usually means a player is frustrated/ fed up with lack of opportunities, which has certainly happened to him, under Benitez and Hodgson, bar a few appearances. I've watched him continually over the past couple of years on LFCTV, he's very direct, strong, great touch, and not scared to put his foot in. I hope Kenny's has his arm round him to convince him of his future, hopefully the loan spell will sort his head, it worked for Kelly and Spearing.

Adams - NO. I just don't see it, decent player in a poor team, notwithstanding that they did the double over us though. He wouldn't represent the same sort of statement of intent, and of a medium to long term future, in the same way that Carroll and Suarez have, and I think that's our new owners intention when looking for new additions.
Similarly Ashley Young, another big NO from me. I'm not at all convinced, especially as he will come expecting a very big pay deal. For me, he hasn't proven himself at all yet, even with his caps, and I don't see him as a prospect in the same league as C & S. He's English, that's all he has going for him, and because of that he'll attract big fee, let Spurs or Utd pay it.

If you win the title it is because you accumulated more points than anyone else and since every team looks out for its own interests the champion makes it on their own. You earned the title. Why people said Jonjo Shelvey not good enough for Liverpool ??
He was good player, that why we sign him. He only 18year old and just back from long time injured. So he need a time to get his best performance. All star player in the world need a time after back from long time injured. See, how Carroll. After a few game, only last week he score. And how long he injured ??? Why KK sign him although KK know about he injury ??? Thats all because he is a good player, we do not sign him for only 5 week contract but we sign for 5 year contract ! !
So people think first before make a rumour or statement.
For next season everything will be fine. Remember, we sign a player not for 5 week contract but for long term contract. All fan, keep your trust in our youngster. They all need a time and more game.

I feel we need to be careful with Flanagan and Robinson. they are both very good prospects but should be used on a squad basis. we still need a new quality LB. Insua looked quality when he 1st came on the scene. but seemed to suffer 2nd season syndrome. when really he used have been a backup defender.
Any thoughts Ed? {Ed001's Note - Insua suffered because he was overweight and it affected his pace, if he had been looked after a bit better that should not have been an issue. I certainly wouldn't suggest holding back a good player, that just ends up with them being unhappy at the club.}

Saw a very good post on another site, talking about how UEFA has de-valued the Europa Cup (mainly the large number of games for little financial reward, in comparison to the CL).
The point was made, to give some added prestige to the Europa Cup, that the winners should go in to the CL draw for the following year.
I think that this is a brilliant idea, and would really make the slog of the Europa worthwhile.

In the last couple of posts I saw from Macca about this, he was saying that Benzema was a little less certain than the others, and he admitted that things could change, but he added that Benzema was definitely the big striker LFC were targeting in January.
Obviously people have different sources, and the Ed's are going to be good too, but you have to say Macca has got pretty much everything right so far, even down to the news about Torres leaving in January, at a time when most people didn't suspect he was about to jump ship.
I think the really positive thing to take from this is that even if players do change their minds on deals, our going after Benzema means that FSG and LFC are deadly serious about getting good quality players in, and possibly even a world class player in the summer- although to be honest, I would consider Suarez to be world class anyway, if not already the best attacking player in the prem.
Let's face it Macca isn't psychic, and he can't predict for sure how these events will turn out between January and the Summer- he can only say what the serious targets are.
So even if the Benzema 'deal' falls through, it shoes that we are no longer targeting lower quality players on a shoestring budget.
And it also shows that they saw the real potential in the player too, at a time when he wasn't doing so well for his club. Good times ahead- I wonder what the odds are now for LFC to win the premiership next season- might be worth a couple of quid. .

Paul Tompkins on Twitter said he has had it confirmed by the FA that if City come fifth and win the FA Cup, the Europa League place goes to sixth. I thought it was cleared up that only 5th could get in, but is there any truth in this Ed?

Last season: Manchester City were 5th; Chelsea won the FA Cup but Portsmouth were excluded as they did not have a UEFA licence - letting in Aston Villa in 6th place in the league; Manchester United won the Carling Cup and Aston Villa were runners up - so Liverpool qualified by being 7th in the league. This season, it is likely that Spurs or Manchester City will be fifth, Birmingham have qualified from the Carling Cup and Stoke will qualify from the FA cup. So sixth in the league will not qualify. I don't think we should give him another chance he had his chance and it didn't work for him. The funny thing is he was a perfectly reasonable left back to buy when Roy bought him, solid, dependable, experienced premier league defender but for some reason it went horribly wrong for him. These things just happen sometimes. Personally I would like to see us target a more attacking full back, like Coentrao, so that we have the option of 4-4-2, 4-3-3 and 3-5-2 without having to play players out of position.

Then the club should move for the best LW that we can attract a top class CF and a world class midfielder if possible. This would leave room to bring in a couple of good squad players to give plenty of strength in depth. {Ed002's Note - Flanagan is still very young and I would not expect him to be first choice for next season, although I would expect him to be part of the squad.}

I think it all depends on where we finish this year. Bit of luck we might pip spurs to fifth. Trouble is then once city have champs league there gonna go all out. however 'money can't buy you love' lol.
This is why the spearing to newcastle is rubbish. Local lad playing his heart out and been one of the best players on the pitch last two games. I think our depth for squad will come from Youth this yeah with a couple frees coming. I would be happy to just sign CB Cahill 15 mil, LB Enrique 12 mil, Wingers Adam Johson 14 - 18 mil, Jarvis/ Downing. Our Youth will pay dividends next seasons. Flans, Robinson, Kelly, coady all getting prem appearances. Sterling, amoo, ngoo playing carling cup. Young Morgan is also doing very well at the moment! I say let chelsea, man city buy up all the so called stars that just collect the paycheques. (balloteli lol). Loyalty and passion out plays £150,000 a week. just ask Barry when Flanno smashed him down! !

I haven't posted lately as it is all very quiet on the real rumour front, we are scouting players all over world at a rate unseen by LFC for a long time, Damien Commolli must have some amazing air miles under his belt by now! !
But the reason for my post today is that i was watching the John Henry interview from a couple of months ago when he was talking about the wage bill and the depth of squad/ fringe players on our books. After watching the interview I had a good look at our squad and our payroll and this is what I think John Henry was getting at.
Squad/ Fringe players to leave this summer:
Jones, Degan, Konchesky, Krygiakos, Insua, Maxi, Poulsen, Aquilani, Jovanovic, Ngog, Aurelio, Ayala, Cole.
We are paying these players £1, 900.000p/ m approx that's £22, 800,000 p/ annum! !
The club will also look at the merchandise side of business and apart from the money that Joe Cole's signing generated in the early part of the season I personally haven't seen any of the above mentioned names on the backs of our fans when I've been at Anfield.
If I'm on the right tracks with my numbers and if the new owners and Kenny agree with the players named here are to leave this summer I think we will see a transfer kitty in the region of 60-70million! !

I agree that there is a need to recruit a centre back and for me either of the Birmingham players (Johnson or Dann) would be a good buy for the squad. Wickham has signed a new contract at Ipswich already so it seems less likely he will move.}
So how many signings?
New contract has an added bonus in it for Ipswich, they are expecting movement for Wickham. He will be a Liverpool player next season, so Ive been told.

Valdes is Barca's weak link, they might move for him and it would probably be the only chance he has of ever being Spain's Number 1. That would have to be a huge temptation for him. As for defenders, Carra will be fine to play, he ran on the pitch at the end of the game and seems to be ok.}

We need to sign another striker simle as that. N'Gog really isn't cut out for this level. I think Robert Lewandowski would be a good signing. Very talented and young enough to blend into our squad. He and pacheco would be very good back up strikers
We also need to upgrade our defence. Coentrao would be terrific at liverpool. A centre back i would love to see join is badstuber. He's young, extremely good and can also play left back which doesn't do him any harm. Only problem is that Bayern probably won't want to let their yong talent leave

Hello reds, and Eds. . Having just finished dining with Kenny him self we had a good chat. Whilst carving the turkey he was telling me about the players the club have been in contact with. He tells me Messi has been texting him on a regular basis to get Henry to sign him and Messi would then him self fund the move for Ronaldo as he is desperate to link up with him! Whilst sitting down to enjoy our afters of apple stroodle and custard, we where rudely disturbed by Stevie and Carroll who where slightly drunk after their poker game. They where both shouting down the phone that they where planning to kidnap Reina at the last game of the season so there is no chance he can move clubs. I have rushed back home on my push bike to break this news to my fellow reds so please post on the rumours page!

These 5 players are all young and versatile, which means they fit in well with John Henry's and KK's plans. I'm not sure of the price for these players, but we will definitely have to sell off some dead-weight to make this happen (which is a part of our plan anyway).

Very pleased with how the younger players have contributed to the LFC first team as the season closes.
