Samed Yesil has started scoring again. Hopefully he is one of many young players being preferred next season over big money signings.Origi, Sturridge, Yesil and Lambert is not a bad strike force is the youngsters in that list adapt. With this, at least the club won't be losing money. Pre season is key though.

I disagree we need a new top class striker to play along side sturridge and to cover him when injured. we've lacked goals h season and missed mr bitey!

I argued last year that we didn't require a replacement as we had the second top goal scorer in the league. I was very wrong.

We require a top striker to be the main man as these injuries to Daniel are a major concern.

How many injuries can an athlete take without it having a long-term permanent affect?

It's very worrying and I can't see a pre-season helping wither.

We can potentially cover CDM with Lucas/Can, we can even cover RB with Manquillo/Flanno if required, but the last thing we can afford to do next season is lose Sturridge and have to play Origi/Yesil who are just learning their trade, or Lambert who's not best suited to Liverpool's style of play. We need to sign a proven striker like Benzema (unlikely), Vietto, Lacazette or Higuan if can get them, or perhaps Benteke. This is one position we need to pay up for and we have a lot of sales we can make to do this one right.

I actually think Lambert would perform really well in a 5-2-3-1 as a hold up striker with Llalana/Ibe/Markovic behind him who can all play off him and score off his knock-downs and lay-offs, but that's a big change of style for the team around a problem area in the striker position, we're better off having a strong backup who can fit right into our setup.

Have to agree with Davey, it is very very worrying for a professional athlete like Sturridge to get injured so often and for such long periods.
Surely a huge lesson has been learned now that our club requires a top striker as Daniel looks to be very injury prone. Looking at our goals for this season it is not great reading.

I think I know what's happend to Ken Aguero

His Lucky pants got chewed up by his dodgy washing machine, and were ruined.

Hence our poor season.

Ken? I hope your alright pal? I hope you get some new lucky pants soon, the team could really do with um.

I presume that the Arsenal ticket quota was sold out, even though there are lots of empty seats ?
Is that the work of the dreaded ticket agencies - absolutely ruining our game ? All the top clubs are blighted by it, its killing the atmosphere at home premier games too.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No, they are simply corporate seats not taken up.}

Hi guys don't post too regularly but thought I would just get some opinions from you guys on what the summer holds for our beloved LFC. I read various websites etc online and as much Liverpool related news as I can, as I'm sure many of you guys do also. It seems to me that this is the only site with the majority vote going against brendan. Most other media I read seem to think brendan is perfectly safe and even doing a great job. I feel that if he does get the boot it would be a major talking point in the media, great young coach, not given time etc etc etc. I was reading another LFC website yesterday with a poll on replacing Rodgers with klopp, the vote was a dead even 50-50 and nearly all the comments were about why brendan deserves more time, young team, attacking football blah blah blah. Not that it will happen but klopp for me would be a no brainer, huge upgrade on Rodgers. So really my question is why does everything else I read seem to point to brendan being around for a long time to come, and only on this site does it seem he's a dead man walking. Do we see his failings more so than the rest of the media or am I missing something as to why he's job is so safe. I also feel that maybe apart from klopp, the lack of a better option could be the only thing keeping brendan safe.

I think we should go hell for leather after Klopp. Offer him everything, our first born sons, blood sacrifices. I'll fast for 90 days and give him bottles of my tears if he wants oh and appoint a DoF.

Also a striker, keeper and focus on bringing through Teixera when he is fit, Rossiter, Ojo, Sinclair, Ilori, Wisdom if we can. Give them chances to prove they are good enough. I'm sure any new manager would wish to bring in one or two players so if Kloop/De Boer were to come in we might see more additions.

I'm sure there will be plenty of outgoings also.

Agree10 Disagree2

18 Apr 2015 19:31:27
If you want youth to be given a chance like FSG say then Klopp is THE guy. He might not come BUT IMO, the owners owe it to the club to try and do all they can to get him. If we fail? Good, at least we tried.

Agree6 Disagree4

18 Apr 2015 20:20:02
I think the main difference between people here and in the media is that people here see LFC as a natural contender for a title and at least for a top 4 every year and surely after last year, while people in the media think that in term of money invested (not just last year but every year), keeping big names in (Suarez), being able to bring big names (e.g. Sanchez) etc and what we did in the last 6-7 years other than last year, we are behind the other big 4 and therefore 5th is more or less what they expected before the season started. Most pundits put us pre season finishing 4-5 depending who United bring, a lot of people here talked about 2-3.

Re Klopp, I would be very happy to see him in LFC but I think he will go to city and BR will stay. It may be different if we lose tomorrow - I think this will reinforce a sense of failure for this season and may make the owners try and get a deal with Klopp. If we get to the final - which I very much hope we do, no descisions will be made until the summer where it may be too late for him. If it is not him I am happy for BR to stay.

18 Apr 2015 21:09:57
I'm a scouser and can tell you that yes most people are on rodgers side. I think it's just the mentality of certain fans and they just get behind the team. Personally I think Rodgers is a brilliant coach but I've given up on him due to his tactical naivety in big games. He never plays to counter the oppositions strengths and he never learns from his mistakes. Klopp would be a dream but realistically I'd have rafa

Agree6 Disagree5

18 Apr 2015 22:38:52
Thanks for the replies guys, I would also love us to at least try for klopp but unfortunately don't see it happening. I'm guessing whatever happens at man city will have the biggest impact on the managerial merry go round this summer. Like some of you say I am also quite divided on Rodgers but if he's here to stay then I will support him all the way. I do feel however that the likes of klopp or even good old rafa would bring us better results than sticking with brendan

Agree1 Disagree1

18 Apr 2015 23:02:08
tbh if we can't get some one like klopp then i'd just stick with br, he's made mistakes but he is a good manager just still a bit 'raw' he will get better in time.

I would rather us managed by Raheem Sterling's agent then by Rafa. He is the last person that can help us get back to the top 4.

I have also noticed that ed01 and possibly ed02 agree with many of us that Rodgers has failed us, and failed to live up to his own promises, along with his foot in mouth syndrome. But like I said in the original post most of the media and other pundits seem perfectly happy with Rodgers and his work, I know it's "done to death" but do any of you eds see Fsg swinging the axe and firing brendan

Afternoon Eds and Reds.

Seems very quiet on here considering we are playing in the FA Cup semi tomorrow.
Sun will be shining on Wembley. My earliest memory of Liverpool in the FA Cup was the 86 cup final. I remember it being a beautiful sunny day. Hopefully we can play as well tomorrow as we did that day in 86.

Going for a 3-2 win for the Reds. I think it will be a close game, both teams going for the win. Good luck to anyone going to the game tomorrow, and safe home.

You have a few years on me, but I remember a few late 80s early 90s FA Cup games so well. My fave being the Ipswich game at anfield. Went to extra time. I was so small that when we scored and the kop went mental, I was thrown all over :-)

I'm at the game tomorrow. Can't wait. I know it's just the semi, but days at Wembley are what we play for. Hope we turn up

Alright clarkey. Another great memory for me was the Liverpool v arsenal final. Watched it in a local pub, packed with both supporters but mainly reds. I had a friendly bet on with an arsenal fan. Needless to say he was devastated when Owen scored the winner. He even shed a tear! Priceless!
Anyway, enjoy the game tomorrow! YNWA

First cup game I went to at Anfield was against Swansea in 1964. It was a quarter final and we lost 2-1. We battered them, but their goalie Dwyer had the game of his life and saved everything we threw at him We even missed a penalty, it just wasn't our day. West Ham won the cup that year and if we had got to Wembley we would definitely have beaten them and won the double as we won the league that year

How's things Red 64. I have read your posts in the past and thought 64 was your birthday. Obviously not! Reeling in the years there Red! Nice to hear a memory from back in the day all the same. Another similar memory of mine is the 89 final. I was only 13 at the time and watched it my cousins house. We were all just shocked I think. Don't remember what we did after it finished, probably cried I suppose.

Anyone have any thoughts on the 87 final? My memory is of a game where the underdog won, and it was a brilliant game!

Keep Hendo and sterling and buy 3 players. For me cech/begovic, Danny ings and through sales a top midfielder. Midfield is the most important area of the pitch for me. I would go all out on vidal who may be available this summer but will be highly sought after. He is the type of midfielder we should be looking to bring in. KeiderA is excellent but looks like going elsewhere. Top goalkeeper, a young excellent striker in ings and a tremendous midfielder. We already know the outside this summer.
Edd002, is united the most likely destination for vidal if he leaves this summer?

Believable5 Unbelievable2

18 Apr 2015 15:36:46
We don't need anymore midfielders. We actually need to off--load in that area but make a major effort to keep Lucas. We need a quality striker to take over from Sturridge (who should be relegated to the bench - he misses too many games through injury to hold the place as his), aquality keeper to put Migs under pressure and an experienced utility defender who can also cover defensive midfielder.

Agree4 Disagree7

18 Apr 2015 15:57:17
I would rather the club used the majority of whatever money they have to sign a quality striker. City have Aguero, Bony and Dzeko. Chelsea have Costa and Remy. Man Utd have Rooney and RVP. A strike force of an injury plagued Sturridge, Ings and Origi are not fit to lace the boots of the above mentioned. No more half decent strikers, the club needs to target a top notch striker and Ings is average at best and injury prone as well so why would LFC want him in the first place?

Agree1 Disagree3

{Ed002's Note - It doesn't matter who the club buy, they will have to get used to being trashed by so called "fans" like you. So for your sake, I hope Ings goes elsewhere and gets 25 goals next season - perhaps then you will stop being so awful about every player the club shows an interest in.}

18 Apr 2015 16:20:00
You do realise that Origi is a Liverpool player, don't you Indian Buzzer?

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Apr 2015 17:17:09
Ings a good young striker who Imo will be a great striker in the next two years. Midfielder? We are losing Gerrard, possibly lucas and Allen hasn't been good enough. Matches are won and lost in midfield. We have excellent midfielders in henderson and can but we need another experienced top midfielder with some nip to his game to go into our midfield whilst easing rossiter in. We have quantity rather than enough quailty in midfield.

Agree2 Disagree1

18 Apr 2015 17:20:20
Im just telling the truth no matter what the eds or fellow posters think of me. This is not about me trashing the players or whatever. Its about the club being realistic about its ambitions of playing UCL football regularly without signing top quality players. Sturridge is injury prone, Ings has ONE HALF DECENT SEASON on the top flight, and Origi is coming back after an extremely trying season at Lille. That strike force does not fill me with any confidence whatsoever. Trash me all u want but the club will not finish in top4 next season either with that strike force. The club needs to aim higher for more experienced and quality players. Ings is a squad player at best while LFC is yet to replace Suarez and need a top quality striker up front. If any one thinks Sturridge is going next season injury free, or Origi is going to start banging them in, or Ings is magically going to get 20+ goals next season, then they are in for a rude shock imo. When u want to replace Suarez's goals which the club failed miserably to do this season, then u go all out for the best in the market or at least make an attempt, not settle for another injury prone player with one top flight season experience at a club where there is very little pressure to perform compared to LFC. If the club does not sign a top striker this summer, then it will be another 5th or 6th placed finish next season as well. Just being realistic and speaking the truth here guys.

Agree9 Disagree4

{Ed002's Note - No are just the sort of so called fan who trashes everyone and everything associated with the club.}

18 Apr 2015 19:37:24
Chill, you sound angry because people disagree with you which is not the way to have a healthy debate. I agree that the strikers like Ings and Origi are not top strikers that will get us goals BUT Origi is already here so IMO, Ings is NO LONGER needed. We need a top striker and goals is what we need to focus on improving upon as well as clearing out the players no longer required, keeping Raheem and hendo and integrating our youngsters into the first team.

Eds,

Samed Yesil scores a couple tonight and is hopefully on the road to recovery now.

Do you see him possibly having a first team future at the club or have the injuries he's had meant that level is now beyond him.

Seems to have that predatory instinct that top goal scorers need
