chelsea and arsenal are wobbling and there for the taking !!....we've got them both at home and, apart from sunderland away, we shouldn't have too many problems in the race for 4th.
let's get right behind the team at home and, maybe, just maybe, carling cup, fa cup and fourth can be ours !
if that happens then the pessimists (me included) will eat our words. but i really think we won't get a better chance than this of turning things around. we have to use tomorrow as a springboard to get our forwards clicking....all respect to brighton but we should really spank their bottoms (they might like that!) and the same goes for cardiff.
arsenal at home is massive but if we don't beat them at anfield we don't deserve europe!
so many mediocre teams are breathing down our necks......the toon, sunderland, blue-noses, even swansea !....let's put a run together and start putting real pressure on the cockneys!

I hope Suarez stays, or yet again we are taking a huge Step backwards.......lavezzi isn't on suarez level, I've heard people mention Theo Walcott to Liverpool but he's a headless chicken who can't cross a ball.......

Would seem to fit the bill for one of our wide players

Too many fans have focused on the bad players this season but Agger, Skyrtel, Bellamy, Pepe, Enrique, Spearing have been fantastic. Gerrard is getting fitter. Suarez is class. Adam, downing, Carroll and Henderson haven't been as good as we expect but they still got time to come good this season. If we get 4th and win both cups which is a high possibility they'll all be heroes;!

Sat playing poker with a man utd fan. And he just said the same thing pretty much, he said there's too many Liverpool fans who are fickle and like to see players arrive with fancy names and big price tags, where as Enrique Agger skrtel Renia Lucas all came in for penny's and have been fantastic.

After today's games I believe we have a very good chance at the double...

So we are set for a defining week in KK second coming and hopefully he will get his team and tactics right in both, which I think he will.

I for one could not imagine just over a year ago we would be speaking about a 5th round game with a good chance to progress (providing WE play well) and a first cup final in 5 years. Sitting in 7th place in the league, albiet not as high as we imagined, but sitting nicely "on the rails" as they say in horse racing terms.

I feel a couple of good results in the next two games will give us the emphasis to push on for 4th place with the Arse and Chavski looking increasingly like they are in turmoil with ni immediate end in sight for both....

I know Newcastle are still in there but this may come down to our fixture with them at the end of March.

Hopefully KK plays Luis tomorrow for a number of reasons:

1. He is pure class.
2. He needs game time
3. He needs to understand fully the support within the club
4. More importanly he needs to undertand how much we the fans adore him - if his first two clubs can show their support for him this week they we need to do the same.

I am looking forward to this week, it's just like it should be the mighty reds back involved in big games and cup finals and long may in continue......-TMac

Personally I would like to see a Suarez-Carroll partnership tommorrow. There was one moment vs United were the ball came in and Carroll chested it to Suarez who took in on the volley and it's that knid of thing we've all been wanting to see the two front men in harmony but they need to be given game time -McMenemy

I've got the feeling that Torres will be back, and Suarez will stay, if there is justice in this world they should be both at Liverpool from next season

I for one would love to see Torres back. Yes he made a mistake to leave but I am sure the offer of 50 million made things a little more concrete. As for those who say he was never that good. Do you forget how he ripped defences apart!! That was no luck and not a one game accident. He is in a bad moment right now and his confidence must be shot, but if we could get him back for 20 million I would take the gamble. However I am pretty certain he will leave England for good in the summer and the premiership will lose a great player.

Have you seen Torres play in the last 18 months? Do you know how low his stock is right now ? Do you realise he's not welcome back at Liverpool?
Suarez and Torres may sound glamorous but it'd be a disaster!!!!!

Your fee for Marin is low, but other than that it sounds good and fairly realistic. Personally I think we need to bolster the central midfield a little. Yes we have lots if them but we need someone other than Lucas with strength and desire. I like Spearing and Adam but neither for me quite fit in when Gerrard and Lucas aren't playing.

Marin is having a completely awful season with Werder and he doesn't seem to be a class act, so far this season.

Buzzer, any half decent winger would be ahead of Downing given his present form and that is what Marin is right now, half decent. I know what i am talking about because i watch the Bundesliga regularly enough. Marko Marin is way overrated by the LFC fans. He is not that great shakes. Hoilett is way better.

I was at Stamford Bridge today (with my cousin and his mate, who from Birmingham and are fans of them) and while watching the game a few things came to mind.

-A.V.B- My goodness, that guy is terrible! Leaving Lampard on the bench, taking off Mata etc.....I know its become a bit of cliche but he REALLY doesn't have a clue! And there's reds on here that want us to get rid of Kenny?? Trust me, we are in good hands! At least we play good football, more often than,not tatics are spot on, and more often than not the effort is there......unlike what I saw from Chelsea today! Particularly in the 1st half.....AWFUL!

Fernando Torres- Now I was hurt as much other fellow reds when he "left to win trophies" and was initially all for his downfall.....however seeing him live today (for the first time since we sold him) he is more than a shadow of the Torres that played in red! He looked isolated, fed up and might I say tired and drained! Maybe I'm too much of a softy but its sad to see an ex player (who imo would have been a LFC great had he stayed) look so useless. And before you ask, no I don't him back here!

Morieles-From what I saw today I'm not suprised we didn't get offered the contract/payrise or whatever he wanted! He was on of the worst players I saw today by miles! Awful!

Frank Lampard- The amount of times that guy has been the centre point of winning games and trophies and now he is being shoved into the background like he is a nobody.....(I really hope we don't treat S.Gerrard like that in the future!

All in all, I know we are not in the position we all want to be but there is progress being made and truly believe that we get back to the top! We could be in Chelsea's position which is decline! Quite similar to us under Hodgson as it goes! The irony is that the CFC fans were chanting for their saviour Jose like we did for Kenny!

We are a match away from the FA Cup quarters and got the League Cup final next week.....and 4th place is possible! Very possible! Downing has been rubbish, Andy's has hardly scored etc etc.....I know.....however, things are not bad as they may seem fellow reds! Believe and have faith! There is time!

Anyway, wanna say thank you to all the Birmingham fans who were and still are treating me so well and looking after me!

Apart from a couple of seasons with us, Torres' goal scoring record is very average. Even playing for Spain his record is quite poor.

In my opinion the only explanation for his few good scoring seasons is Steven Gerrard. They had an almost telepathic understanding and Gerrard must have been responsible for about 80% of Torres' goals. He simply doesn't have anyone with that type of class at Chelsea.

I have no sympathy for him whatsoever. He made the decision and he is living with the consequences.

JRG don't forget Xabi Alonso and Yossi Benayoun mate, that team had great creativity and allowed Torres to wander around up front with very little workload. Chelsea just don't have that player with a spark, maybe Mata to an extent but that is about it.

Gulacsi is a good backup but he would probably look for 1st team football elsewhere

The more I think about it, the more i'm certain that El Hadji Diouf is the worst striker to play for Liverpool (or at least in my life time), He didn't score, his attitude was terrible, he caused controversy and we chose him over a young Anelka. Listening to the Che vs Bir game, hear Motty say that Torres has not scored for 19 games (and we worry about AC!). I know that the eds and various other sources say 0% chance of a return, fair enough understand that, no question that he'll move on in the summer in my mind - wherever that might be, my question is for how much? Sarcasm aside I'd see his value now only for teams that have a sniff of CL footie given his age and performance in the past two seasons, so can't really see Chelsea realising more than £20m despite them wanting more...

So, who might give him a punt in the PL, Villa, Sunderland...

Just heard a claim that the halftime team talk was given by drogba, coz AVB was playing with his fuzzy felt!!

We were all way too hard on Torres when he left. He was awesome for us and I loved watching him play. I was just as upset as the next guy when he left, but I feel bad for him now. His career has really bottomed out. Watched the Chelsea/Birmingham game today. Torres really looked bewildered, as did AVB. They couldn't do anything til Drogba came on.

I'm really looking forward to the cup match tomorrow.
There's something about the cup at this time of year.
It's like the weather just becomes a bit milder, but sometimes with a cold northerly wind.
Does anyone else equate the changing of the seasons with sporting events ?
April to me means The Grand National, often with a Liverpool game kicking off at dinner time (lunch time if you're posh !), May is the cup final obviously.
But the coming of Spring is the latter stages of the FA Cup, when the weather can be as unpredictable as the football.
So let's hope for a decent day and a win on Sunday.
It's a shame that the game's not being played on it's rightful day mind, Saturday.
But that's progress for you. In fact, just how progressive things have become is demonstrated by the fact that I have to take the missus to the game. Bah ! She wants to "experience the atmosphere".
Bah. On second thoughts then, hopefully it might throw a snow storm and pi55 her off for life !

Some of the people are off there heads on this site the way they speak about 4th place being miles away. We are ONLY 4 points off 4th with chelsea and arsenal to play at home and the geordies away and 13 games to go its nip and tuck and will probably stay like that till the end.

I have said this all season and still believe we will get fourth but its so important to do well in the cups as well. We are in one final and if we win that the players will get unbelievable confidence till the end of season. We are one game away from the quarters in fa cup. A trophy is important this season as fourth is nice but you dont get anything for it and doesnt show on your honours list, but i do believe we will get fourth.

We are having a good season one of the best for along time and could become a great season. King Kenny has done an unbelievable job so far so dont doubt the bloke.

A new book to be published this Autumn is set to blow the lid on Liverpool Football Club and Fernando Torres bitter split.

The main points exposed are Torres bitter fallout with the Anfield medical staff.
The failure of the club to finalise deals with D Silva and D Villa.

Torres agents established contact with Chelsea before Rafas exit.

The youth players who I believe need to be given a chance and slowly integrated into the first team are;

4. Adorjan
5. Coady
6. Lussey

You'd put Michael Ngoo ahead of Adam Morgan?

Sorry but only Sterling would have any effect on our first team, the others are so far not ready by a long way.

Ngoo does not look like a player of LFC quality too.
Sterling still needs time, but he'll get there. Exciting prospect.

The players who I am not sure about shoul have one more year are;

2. Downing
3. Spearing
I have not included Carroll because I believe he will be demon he just needs time.

Id have spearing and downing in the first list. Just my opinion.

Of all, I personally would take Shelvey out. The rest of the list is OK. Shelvey has got great potential and I believe that he can be a top playerfor us. YNWA

Regarding Carroll time:
As a traditional big man, his peak will be between 27-31. The answer is 4 years.

and then he may get better and soon after we'll need to retire him

I don,t no what everyone else thinks but I believe Kenny is getting it right and we just need some energetic, flair, youth and speed in our team. Below is a list of players I would sign from whom Liverpool have been linked with in the past;
1. Dusan Tadic
2. Inker Munian
3. Gaston Ramirez
4. David Texiera
5. Eden Hazard.
If you read some articles especially Hazards I believe that these targets are achievable because they are young and want to learn more and experience big games and the premier league is full of big games more than any other league and Liverpool is ideal.

Very much doubt, munian, i know that he touted himself to chelsea & spurs during the summer! his reps (not the player) touted the player around in jan to clubs and including liverpool, and rumour has it again....he has started to tout himself once again to chelsea, spurs & man city! {Ed002's Note - Muniain was touted around the clubs on behalf of Bilbao - and the two clubs in England that were approached were Chelsea and Manchester United. The asking price was 40M euros. They won't get it. I don't think clubs would risk half of that on a player who is young and has shown himself to be pretty immature. Roma interest is still there but perhaps an eventual move to Barcelona beckons.}

funny thing....Cavani scored twice and Lavezzi got one as well in a 3-0 away win at Fiorentina on Friday.

Funny? Happens all the time. Two great players, neither of which we will ever sign. Unfortunately.....

I think we should give Downing a break. A lot of people are criticizing him and putting most of the blame for poor league camapaign on his doors. I agree that his display has been dissapointing so far, but whose hasn't? Reina had some floops this season again, Gerrard has been out for a few months and now he's not in the best of his form, Adam is not as infuential as at Balckpool, and Suarez is far worse than last season. Let's be honest, apart from the back four, LFC does not play good football this season in EPL. Carroll doesn't score, Suarez out for a few weeks and doesn't score many this season either. How can Downing get assists when people upfront can't score? I wonder if all those who are so quick to slay the players of their beloved football club are so successful in their careers and do they rise to the occasion without a problem? Shame. Such a great club, the best in the world, yet so many "fans" are not worthy to be their supporters.

Transfer window is a long way off, so let's focus on the matters at hand, namely:
1. League Cup.
2. FA Cup.
3. 4th place.
All are very realistic, and mathematically possible (in case of 4th place).
After 1,2, and 3 nailed down, I will start thinking about transfers and such.
Go the Reds, let's get it done!!.
Food for thought.

4th is not realistic, we would have to drastically improve from first half of season, we have the same players so I really don't see this happening.

The summer Transfer Market is a long way off so why is this more important than the football team?

A. Our team does not inspire?

B. We are not happy with the players we have

C. We are constantly chasing a dream team that can never be fulfilled

D. We like to indulge in fantasy, it fulfils some freudian need that has yet to be made known

E. We are all bored

F. It takes our mind off what's happening on the pitch at the moment

Sacked Kenny and drop all the players and we'll start again buying players like Emile Heskey and Peter Crouch to bring class back to Anfield. Did anyone else know Hodgeson never wanted to leave Liverpool? We should get him back instantly!!

So tell me Eds why is it that whenever we enquire about a player we get quoted silly money and end up paying big money for average players yet when someone is interested in our players like Suarez we get told he is worth 25 mill when he is worth a lot more wise up guys let's sell the deadwood and keep the top players it's about having a great team not keeping sponsors happy

He has a great buzz factor but statistically he isn't that good! We played better and scored more without him this season, not an opinion, fact

To the poster who says we've played better without him, consider the fact it could be cause Carroll found some form? Or Bellamy has started firing them in? Neither of these were occurring when Suarez was in the team before.

I'm a very worried fan some of the names we seem to be getting linked to are pretty poor do not get the feeling we are after the world class players we should be it's very sad Suarez 25 million don't make me laugh you tell me who we could replace him with for that money let's get real
