Macca we need some news to clear things up.

Defoe?
Your young Inter player?
Sow?

Any news at all that you can share?
Thanks

1301and

Come on Macca, what's the latest mate

Will Greece default, on their latest bail out?

Will the latest inflation figures released today, influence my mortgage payments?

And will the world end in 2012 (just like the Mayans said)? If so mate, how will this affect our summer transfer plans?

Thanks

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

You know he gives us inside information?
As in what he hears around the club. Not what he hears from the voices in his head. He's got contacts not a crystal ball...

Have mentioned already, Kadlec at Sparta Prague heading to Anfield this month...........

Comoli likes him and expressed interrest in coming to us some time ago.

Cavani is being touted around europe but we simply cannot afford the fee or wages at this time, we will be buying younger stars at lower cost with high resale values until we reach top 4, need to be realistic for time being.

And for god sake stop telling us Forlan is on his way its utter BS!

18 Jan 2012 23:31:08
People belittling the clubs progression should be ashamed. Just over a year ago.we had lying owners who had a yes man in woy, all three were systematically destroying our club. I feel.sorry for Hodgson, hes a decent manager but the plaayers wwould not respond. Now lok aat us a charismatic acon for a manager, owners who want to move forward and two of our all.time greats tied to the club for a lifetime. We are in the hunt for 4th with a chance at silverware, even if it is leavue cup. I am happy with tje turn around so far.
We need a striker and a winger but these will get sorted, believe in your club.

Anfield Andy

Great post mate.

Kd has made awful signings he's living in the past. The game has Moved forward ! we need afew European players to complete with the top six. Look at Newcastle and spurs buying top players. Sad to say and let's stop dreaming we will be competing with Newcastle for 6th position !

Fool! European players don't automatically mean quality and top 4-6, idiot!

Hi ed002, has there been any increased interest in the past couple of days in hazard or cavani from ourselves? {Ed002's Note - Who can tell.}

Unbelievable! I dont know how you get through each day Ed. {Ed001's Note - she takes her bad mood out on her clients, thankfully they pay extra to be whipped more fiercely, so it helps.}

Thanks ed001, i think i know who ed002 is now! i have the welts to prove it!

Hi ed Y dont lfc test the water with some players that they want, we have nothing to lose if the bid gets rejected but atleast we tryed {Ed002's Note - I am sure that they will.}

Are we looking at messi eds. tilbury rob.

Of course we are, we have new owners remember

18 Jan 2012 23:09:38
IMO we need to sign an experienced striker on loan who isnt getting much game time. Id go for Forlan, great finisher, and would cost no more than 3-4m in fees and wages for 5 months. No brainer for me.

Wha an u expect inter to just loan out forlan lik tha?

18 Jan 2012 23:05:53
I put on here hours ago about Defoe asking for a transfer request and it's looking more likely to be true.
Would it be that bad if he came to us. We need a proven goal scorer until the youngsters are ready and you can't deny he's that!

Harry has got rid of Crouch,Keane,Bent and now it looks like Defoe. We have had 2 how many more spurs cast offs are we going to try?
The question should be why are they getting rid of them and who are they going to sign. Harry has stated he wants a big name and that he thinks he can win the title. He also seems to be getting rid of Dos Santos and Pavlechenko is always rumoured to be on his way. Suggests they have at least one big name striker in mind if not 2. He's raising cash for someone.

Great effort everyone. Facebook, Twitter even Youtube, get it out there if you can. I've done my best but some of you out there must be quasi-famous (Macca, Blair, Chris in Tamworth)

The Booter {Ed002's Note - We have supported this throughout and I think the folks from here have got off their collective butts to do what they can. If the leg ends can help then all the better.}

What time does the e-petition close tomorrow? I just signed it for my 3 year old son, he said he really wanted to support it;]

Petition closes today at 4pm, so get signing please!

Why is everybody so down on defoe? He's a good finisher, and has a habit of scoring which is what we need. Same with bent, both proven at premiership level.

If players actually have the decency to want to join us then lets not slate them before they even get here or after a few months like henderson and carrol. We can't offer the likes of Cavani or Sow UEFA cup, let alone champions league. We certainly don't have the billions to splash on 200k a week wages either. I think people have to be realistic and at least be grateful that we seem to be attracting some of the best young talent.

The new owners have a long term plan for success. In 2,3 or even 4 years we will be on top, but a but of realism is required for the next couple of seasons

PJH

Maybe its football players with earrings, just looks so 'overstated' and narcistic.. Yuch!.

Of the two, I would rather take Bent, at least he is younger. Defoe is past his best.

18 Jan 2012 21:39:25
Eds, have you put the petition request on other fans pages? There are plenty of other supporteres who are sympathetic despite not being lfc fans? {Ed002's Note - Many will help but we cannot easily move it. You post it and I will ease it through. Clearly I am hated by many of the vegetables who will spoil it for the Liverpool fans - so we need to ride out those who prefer more harm than good out. It will be destroyed by the "mobile" users sadly.}

18 Jan 2012 21:37:41
would love to see us buy joe allen and nathan dyer , maybe do a swap deal including kuyt or someone like that.. also i really hope its BS including agger and enrique going, finally do you think sow is a big possibility now roux has signed for lille maybe its was sows replacement.?

18 Jan 2012 21:31:19
I haven't seen this Teixeria play but do you think he will be used as a sub this season?

Ed grateful if you could clear up. I've never seen him play so unaware of his ability.

Jonesred {Ed002's Note - Not a question we can answer.}

18 Jan 2012 21:26:54
Hi Ed, I know it's prob unlikely coutinho is going to sign but I don't understand why it may be difficult to get him a work permit? He clearly stands more of a chance than the likes of that guy ibrahim that Celtic are trying to sign and I'd bet he gets 1- I'm sure there our countless others in England and Scotland of much poorer quality and reputation than coutinho. Is there rules for work permits that we are unaware of?
Thanks
Jason {Ed002's Note - Scotland does not come in to it - England and Wales does.}

Ok Ed but still I'm sure there are players in England and wales of much poorer quality/reputation that have been granted work permits? So why do have an inkling that coutinho might not? Think sum1 mentioned Anderson as an example earlier. Sorry don't mean to pester you. Feel free to answer if you get a chance. If not- no biggy.
Cheers
Jason {Ed002's Note - Kids from England and Wales do not need work permits. I really don't understand.}

Don't worry about it Ed- I meant foreign players who would need permits to play in England and wales and have got them despite being Poorer quality an from lower ranked countries and without any international caps. Mark peloso may b an example I think? But forget about it- I was just bored n thought it might b interesting. Sorry for wasting ur time. Sleep tight.:)

Hi Eds

Any news about Brad Jones finaly getting shipped out?

Cheers {Ed002's Note - I think shipped out is the wrong term by we need to recognise that regardless of what happens to the club he is a guy that needs support.}

I for one wishes him the best of luck maybe not the best gifted player but a true gent and hope the lad gets a move to oz so he can be close to his family at this difficult time must be hard for the lad couldnt imagine loosing my son
jayblair89

UI agree with the eds . Liverpool is so important but compared with my family I have to say sorry lfc your not that important . I know some will disagree but really if you list your child . Personally nothing would matter any more {Ed002's Note - Sadly we are now seeing folks who have a differing opinion on that. Perhaps it will settle.}

Agree totally brad if there is anything we can do just ask and we will do all we can to help YNWA

Sorry Ed002, I didn't mean that disrespectfully to Brad at all. I simply meant to ask if he'd had any luck in finding a club or has that been put on hold due to his tragic circumstances? But i was too lazy to type that out before and can see why it came across badly, so apologies for any offence taken. {Ed002's Note - I appreciate that, but I guess that priorities are elsewhere. We need to take a step back and be respectful over those.}

Here here, stay strong BJ YNWA

F"!k me. To all you spotty little turds talking about FIFA all the time. Just ad each other as friends on you xbox or playstation and talk on there your really pissin me off. Don't you have some bloody home work to do or sumthing and if your old enough to work then that is just really sad. I'm disabled and my kids are in bed by 7 and I don't even have the time to play 3-4 seasons like you guys are on about. Get a life and leave us grown ups to have real conversations and befor you say shut up you dusty old fart. I'm only 27 I just have a real life

Ps eds I'm too young to remember kk first time round I was just wondering has he changed much because if he hasn't from the programmes I've seen on him we have the best possible person to lead this team and really looking forward to the next few years as a Liverpool fan.

Have to agree with everything in Adams previous post,the future does indeed look bright for LFC.In the short term, if we could only find the next Peter Beardsley then that bright future will come sooner!

Why thank you, thank you very much ;)

18 Jan 2012 21:54:38
I think there is some truth to the Defoe rumour I think with redknapp putting a 20m value on him is ridiculous considering when he bought him for spurs he said he was no where near worth 20m when quoted that from Pompey now when the player is turning 30 he reckons he is now! For 5 or 6 million I'd take him no problem cause at the end of the day he scores goals everywhere he has been! Dubred

Dont forget old twitchy head has to pay a big tax or defense bill, {Ed002's Note - You leave Ed007 alone.}

Can't see defoe happening, he has no 'sell on value' thus against FSG business model for players. Too old, too expensive at £20m. There are better players to be had.

18 Jan 2012 21:53:09
Defoe is not wanted by liverpool fans.

If it was for the right reasonable price I'm sure that most would argue with him being added to the squad at this moment in time. Loan or 6-9million, then maybe. 20million and 'arry can keep him.

Hi eds where in the table do you think we will end up in the table by the end of the season and what do you think is going to happen to kk if he ends up in a dissapointing position?

Cheers {Ed001's Note - 4th or 5th I think and nothing unless we end up bottom half.}

18 Jan 2012 21:24:51
I think most people fail to see what Liverpools long term plan is.

First they aim to move to a new stadium.

The stadium plans are still under consideration, although most recently it has been suggested the current owners will revert back to the 2003 plans.

Second they aim to improve the global fan base.

The club has been spreading its good will all around the globe with marketing in the US, and more recently training opportunities in Asia (China and India). Going to these two counties is a masterstroke as the football market is relatively untouched in the two countries who have a combined population of almost if not 2billion. Thats a lot of potential fans and Liverpool are making the most of the opportunity right now.

Third they are building an academy second to none.

The third point is perhaps the most important to us all in terms of entertainment on the pitch, and it will give a solid squad for the next decade for minimal fees.

So far we've signed:

Seyi Ojo - Striker - 14 years old and already capped for the England U16's and he played for the MK Dons U18's when he was just 13, and trained with the senior Squad.

Jordan Ibe - Playmaker - 16 years old and is Wycombe's youngest ever player to start a league game, and by far the youngest to score!

Raheem Sterling - Winger -16 and whilst at QPR coaches claimed he was better than Rooney was at his age. Has played multiple times for the England U18's and is already playing in our reserves regularly.

Sebastien Coates - Centre back - 20 years old and widely regarded as the best young defender from South America. He has already won the Copa America with Uruguay and walked away with young player of the tournament despite the presence of Neymar.

Jonjo Shelvey - Midfielder - 19 years old and was a regualr feature for Charlton Athletic before signing for us at 18 years of age. He is deadly from a dead ball ball situation, has vision similar to a young Gerrard and is also a great tackler.

Jordan Henderson - Midfielder - 21 years old and the England U21's captain. Was deemed to be Sunderlands future before we took him off their hands. He is playing at a level so far above his age and experience would suggest he is often seen as a weak link by those to blind to see what a great prospect he is.

Andy Carroll - Striker - at 22 years old, he is the oldest player mentioned in the post, but he is a Target man. These types of players rarelt peak at a young age. At 22 nobody knew who Drogba or Van Nistelrooy were. Has great potential but needs to be given time to live up to his astronomical price tag. Has perhaps been thrown in at the deep end.

Possibilities:

Mumuni Abubakar - Defensive Midfielder - 18 years old and already captain of his Ghanian Premier League side New Edubiase United. Also voted MVP of the entire league by the writers association. He has just completed a 10 day trial and apparently was very impressive.

Joao Carlos Texeira - Attacking midfielder - 19 years old and already dubbed the new Deco. He tore us apartin the Next Gen series and only failed to make the Sporting Lisbon squad due to the tyrany at the club.

Phillipe Coutinho - Attacking midfielder - 19 and as claimed by Rafa Benitez, he was the future of Inter Milan. The new manager isn't giving him many chances to prove that, but the kid is sensational to say the least.

Luc Coustaignos - Striker - 19 and another Inter prospect. He is the all time top scorer for the Dutch U19's and actually finished top scorer at a youth world cup. Is also finding first team chances hard to come by.

Luuk De Jong - Striker - 21 years old and the most clinical striker in Europe in terms of chance conversion. The young man is an absolute beast in the box, and is perhaps more complete than other prospects i have mentioned.

Add to this list the likes of:

Gulacsi, Flanagan, Wisdom, Sama, Wilson, Robison, Coady, Adorjan, Suso, Ngoo, Silva and Morgan and you have to say we have one hell of a bright future.

With these 3 steps being implemented as you read this (if you could be bothered) it is clear to see FSG know what they're doing, and they are doing it at a minimal cost with maximum long term rewards.

We are Liverpool Football Club, and Second is not enough.

YNWA! (Adam)

Best post iv read in a long time. Optimistic but realistic

Great post mate. John Henry was quoted on our web site last year saying were 4 years off were we want to be and that post explains it perfectly. And I think we should look at Leroy Fer at FC Twente to, he's only 22, the future of the dutch midfield, could play in the first team now and for years to come. Believe we have been looking at him and maybe Ed could confirm that.

Good article. Nobody ever mentions Kelly and personally he's by farthe most likely to seriously achieve things in his career, although I hope some of the others also do.

Papa G

Great post mate.
We are in great hands these days and it's great we have a real long term plan in place. No quick fixes in football.

MIKEY

Thank you very much for this post!

Whoever disagreed with this post, which by the way is one of the best I have seen on here in a long way should go and support another team, because you just dont get it at all.

The futures bright the futures ed! {Ed002's Note - You are very kind.}

I completely agree about Kelly Papa G... i think the main reason he is forgotten is because he is already such a complete player, we often forget he is still only 20 years old. But agreed. He would actually be my tip for future captain. Spearing is often forgotten to and he has a great role to play over the next few years.

YNWA! (Adam)

So all these young lads are gona fullfill their potential ala paceco,ayala,ince etc and we dont have to worry about doing it now.Cos Europes big stars will talk about 3/5 tears time,overlook restve Europes big teams and sign for us,cos all gona stay fit,undistracted and be world beaters/Great!

Nice post Adam, cheers. A good update. The emphasis on youth will bear fruit over the next year or two (and beyond). Give it time. The project is going well.

BJH YNWA.

The Teixeira we have signed is Joao Carlos Teixeira from Sporting Lisbon. Not David Teixeria. Joao Carlos Teixeira is believed to have cost 1 Million. He impressed against Liverpool in the NextGen home game, scoring the first goal. Very talented player.

18 Jan 2012 21:07:20
Wouldn't loaning Defoe with an option to buy be a possibility?

18 Jan 2012 21:00:57
have to agree with gentleman that states obvious improvements we have made since Kenny took over. some seem to have very short memories. i can remember games last year when we had less than 2 shots per game under Woy and the future looked as bleak as it ever had in Liverpools history.
As soon as Kenny took over he made average players look like world beaters, the same players Woy said were not good enough to play for Liverpool.
Kenny threw in youngsters who took the places of so called veterans like Poulson and Konchelski and made them look amature.
Now we have a team thats challenging and also some great talent thats on the fringe of the first team, just look at the players we will have to pick from in a couple of years time, Suso, Adorjan, Morgan, Pelosi, Silva, Sterling, Coady and thats not including the guys who have been given a chance like Coates, Kelly, Robinson, Flanagan and now it looks like we have signed a gem like Joao Carlos Teixeira (class player).

Liverpools future is looking exciting as ever and looking as good as it was when we lived through the the first coming of the King, be patient and have faith, we have not had this much talent coming through since the fowler macmanaman era.

What if they enjoy playing for Bilbao as they are proud to represent the Basque region?

18-01-12 Please try to remember the second half against Man City when knocking Downing and Adam.Like Lucas, Carroll will come good with time,Stevie on the comeback, Suarez to follow shortly.No need to rush a signing in January.Patience is a virtue,happy days are here again for LFC fans.

Sorry, was referring to league game when Lucas got injured.We were all over City and unlucky with the result against a very strong outfit.

Patient for over half a season again!

What are the chances of some of the youngers boys getting a chance to shine? We seem to be spending a few quid on these exceptional young players who never seem to get the chance to play in the first team, i think Kenny should play the likes of Suso and sterling against Bolton on saturday, and maybe throw Morgan up front too as we are'nt scoring with Carroll or Kuyt so give the kid a go, he might be the answer to all our goalscoring problems. I my opinion they can't do much worse than the likes of Hendo, Carroll, Downing and Adam.

I agree. I would love to see Toni silva get a chance down the right wing. Plenty of pace and can skin a defender

Just over a year ago I was at the match watching uncle Roy's ultra defensive tactics and was that bored I phoned my mate who was in the 'Standard' (West Derby) and told him to keep an eye out for me as I would give him a gestured salute if the ball came my way as I was in second row Centenary Stand on the half way line, as I had to do something to rlieve the tedium. As I was on the phone the ball hit me on the back of my head! That was the most exciting thing that happened in the time Roy had our team at his disposal! The point to my trivia is my son and myself have the exciting prospect of a semi-final to attend at a noisy Anfield, as it should be for such an occasion. I cant wait to help create an intimidating atmosphere to scare Man Citys superstars, as we did to Chelsea under Jose. Some fans dont think we have made progress, we may not be the finished article as yet, however we have made progress, patience and faith are virtues of true reds. Well done to KK and his staff.

Me dad's mate works as a grass cutter at Melwood,
and the other day he said he saw an African
player (he thought was Sow) talking to Dalglish
and Camoli at a training session,
so he got a bit closer with his snips
to try to over hear the conversation.
Apparently, Kenny was shouting,
This is the ball! BALL! and this is the goal, GOAL!
Camoli says to Kenny,
why are you talking like that,
this African guy speaks english really well,
Dalglish turns around to Camoli and says,
I'm not talking to him,
I'm talking to Andy Carroll!

{Ed016's Note - I almost didn't want to post it, but I was picturing it all in my head while reading and slightly laughed at the end, there have been worst posts.

Not very funny really

This is a very old joke!
Iggypop

For the Andy Carroll disbelievers,
This is actually a re-hash of a joke
made up for Ian Rush in the 80's
when he went through a goal drought.
Andy will come good.
From Original Poster.

I heard a good one today....
The company which runs the cruise ship which sank midweek have stated that the new captain has no chance of hitting anything in the future. Andy Carroll starts on Monday!
jonnybarnes89-90
p.s come on andy lad ram all the negativity down people's throats!

hi eds,

quick question: suarez was banned for 8 games for "racially abusing" patrice evra even though there was no solid evidence. there is video proof that john terry racially abused anton ferdiband yet the FA are doing nothing about it yet. can you please give me some insight?

mikey {Ed016's Note - Not going into it, everyone is trying to move on, but because terry was approached by the police the FA dusted their hands of the matter. It is ridiculous if he does not recieve a ban but unlikely will.}

He wont receive a ban purely coz Suarez was made an example of and he is our captain our FA supported shrek even tho he blatantly kicked the player so they sure as hell ain't gonna ban the national captain, even tho he should be banned for double what Suarez was s there's not no language barrier in his case.

BigD

Is it the case that the criminal offence must be dealt with first before the FA will act on the matter. The CPS must believe that a conviction is possible to allow charges to be laid against him, thus if found guilty the FA's job is easy. The FA's predicament is if a not guilty verdict is found, as their disciplinary procedures will have lesser parameters in respect of demonstrating unequivocally the case proven or not, the balance of probabilities and burden of proof will be not as distinct as the CPS, and if following the precedent of the Suarez case you would still expect the FA to treat JT in the same manner. Whether that happens is open to conjecture.

EVO YNWA

FA cannot do anything until the police investigation is completed is my undertanding. When that will be is ......
Iggypop

Mikey can ya not use another sign off?

MIKEY

If the cps drop it the fa will not do a thing

BigD, there was a language barrier because Terry can hardly speak, read or understand English.

Can we have a new section of this site please? One for rumours, not endless and pointless questions?

Come back "My mate's mate's a chef and ...." etc

I agree entirely - I remember a few years back when it was exactly that type of classic rumour page. I have been meaning to ask when it changed to 'Ask the Ed'... You guys (Eds) will go straight to heaven for your patience.... {Ed016's Note - People ask the EDs questions, we try our best to answer, some questions are ridiculous, some get deleted. But we appreciate it all, we know it is a rumour site, but we try to get original and stuff backed by a source or a good post onto the main site and all the millions of Torres posts get slapped onto the dodgy site. So you guys do not need to ask only us, because we do feel obliged to try and answer but you can ask the rest of the fans too. Due to the amount of football info we are viewing and reading up on every day to keep up I would say I trust most of the ed's answers and opinions, although there may be a certain chelsea fan, who i do trust but just a shame he is a chelsea fan}

Cavani's amazing on FIFA!

So is Hazard, Lavezzi and Doumbia,

As is Carroll!

Andy Carrol much better than Edison Cavani on FIFA!

Torres is rated 86 on FIFA. FIFA isn't exactly a great source of info on players.

Thanks, James.

In 3-4 Seasons on FIFA Hazard grows to 91, Lavezzi to 90 Carrol to 87 Suarez to a 90 Gerrard to a 90 and Cavani starts at 88 although Aguero is a fantastic striker for the game

My 4-3-3 with Hazard, Cavani and Suarez up front, Eriksen, Wilshere and Goetze in the mid is amazing, they all reach around 90 after a couple years.

P.S. I did sell the legend of stevie G but got a a great price and 37 million from Palermo for carroll!

Jolly Red {Ed016's Note - I was offered 88 million for Gerrard and still did not sell}

Ed what the hell is all this rubbish doing on here? these are the idiots that keep constantly asking you wre we going to buy Hazard etc, they dont live in the real world. Is there not a page for these clowns? {Ed016's Note - Yes I mentioned earlier to eds we need to seperate the dodgy out more, but it is a rumour site its what it is for}

As much as I love Gerrard, I do not see him rising more in overall on FIFA. He is an 87 this year, but what was he last year 88-89? {Ed016's Note - I got him to 90 I think, I am up to 2018 so he retired, replaced him with errikson worked out well}

Ed, It was couple seasons later and his stamina was suprisingly poor on my games or just the way I play it was.

I get offers of £80 million plus for Wilshere and Cavani though.

Jolly Red

P.S. I heard Liverpool are gonna sign all the players I talked about before ;)

Kenny's signings so far:

Suarez:- Proved to be a smart buy. £23m for one of the most unique forwards in the world. Great player, no doubt. However, he has a fiery temper and needs to work on his finishing.

Carroll:- Pricey at £35m, however, I believe that he can come good. He has shown what he can do at Newcastle last season. Needs a bit of confidence and he can reach his potential (hopefully) very soon!

Henderson:- Again, a bit pricey, but I believe he has a lot of potential. I think he is being played a bit too much though at the moment. Overall, good player with lots of potential.

Adam:- Didn't pay too much for him and he has had a few decent gamers for us. However, he has since lost his way a bit but I am sure he can regain his decent form.

Enrique:- Signing of the season! Very solid player who is also excellent at going forward. And for £6m, what a bargain!

Downing:- I thought Downing would have been a decent signing, however, never seemed to really settle in. I admit, he has been a tad unlucky though. He is currently being mainly played on the right which means he is crossing largely with his weaker foot which isn't good. to get the most out of him, he has to play on the left.

Bellamy:- Great signing to get on a free! Tries his best every game. Also helped out with a few goals. Playing very well at the moment.

Coates:- Looks decent from what I have seen. Still young and looks to have a lot of potential.

I would like to know your opinions on what I have said.

Cheers, Conor.

I think that Bellamy was the signing of the season as he changes the game just like Gerrard and Suarez plus he was free

MJ

Great post mate!

I agree with every point, and really do hope Downing will come good too. The important thing is that we bought players who will be getting better with time - not vice versa!

Suarez - if he works on his finishing he can be our very own Messi.

Carrol - he has the phisique of a beast, something that is usualy very expensive and comes on a re-sale from France. However, he is long way off a finished product, and psychology issues can undo him - fans not helping in this aspect either!

Enrique - stable, one of the best LB in the league, but has been showing some instability of late. For the money - a very good buy, solved our LB problem at least for several years!

Bellamy - a legend.

Coates - I believe he can be immense. Will have to fight very hard for a spot under the sun though!

Adam - honestly, last few games dispelled him for me. However, he has been taken primarily as Stevie's back-up (due to injury issues). He has a few years to prove whether he can fill his shoes permanently. Otherwise, with time he will become a better squad players - in 4-5 years we might hail him as we do Bellers now.

Henderson - has the making of a great player. Honestly, for me this is the true "transfer of intent". However, this player will prove whether a friend of mine was right - he said once "you're just not good at developing players".

I reallyh hope that one day Henderson and Carrol will score against his Milan in the CL and prove him wrong!

Drigan

I would have said Bellamy was signing of the season, however, Enrique is only 25 and to get such a good player, who still has around 8 years left in him for £6m is a great piece of business.

Cheers, Conor.

Looking at those signings i thing Kenny's done pretty good, problem is the transfer fees of certain players and because of this fans expect them to produce and some haven't as of yet.

BigD

Kenny's only good sign s enrique. coates and suarez is comelli's choice. Bellamy is good too.

Comolli buy Suarez, Enrique, Coates, Doni

while

Dalglish buy Carroll, Adam, Henderson, Downing, Bellamy

Fact!

Coates is going to be a man mountain for us....hes a beast of a player...and with real football skill too. He loves to play with the ball, but he also reads the game so well. Great buy for LFC !

Drigan are you a midget Carrol does not have a physique of a beast he is 6 ft 3 and has an average build in fact i believe LFC wanted him to bulk up but he said no...Im 6 ft 2 and 18.5 stone NOT FAT but i wouldnt say i had the physique of a bear

All the signings have had their moments, in the main they have all improved the quality of the squad.

The main ones where the jury is out are obviously Downing and Carroll, who have shown nowhere near the performances which led to us splashing £55m out on them. Downing started brighty but has faded badly, and Carroll has looked a shadow of the player at NUFC. If they can start to show their true ability, they will be successes.

RedSG

Id love to know how some oh these posters reckon the good signings were commoli,s and the terrible ones kennys unless you have inside knowledge how can any 1 know who chose who im sure macca said clarke and commoli didnt rate enrique but kenny was a huge fan but its nice to know you unnamed posters can twist the facts to suit your own agenda of wanting kenny out lol
riley {Ed016's Note - Anyone who wants kenny out is a mental}

To summarize - the foreign players have looked good buys; the British players have been OK or poor buys.

All the signings are Kenny's. Comolli said himself he would never buy a player without clearance from Dalglish - because if Kenny didn't like the player he wouldn't play him - which would in turn make Comolli look like an idiot.

Stop making up crap. They are all Kenny's signings.

I like all our signings btw - I wouldn't sell any of them. They can all be good players for us, but with fans like you lot they'll have their work cut out.

We need to add to the squad if anything. I find Doni to be the most unnecessary signing we made tbh, probably because of his (1) his high wages and (2) memories of Roma's mauling vs Utd. But if Jones was on compassionate leave this season then perhaps it could probably be justified in some way. It let Gulacsi go on loan I suppose...... plus Pepe is seemingly never injured.

Seriously though.....

Comolli is French so he signed all the foreign players. Dalglish is Scottish so he signed all the British players.....

Are the people who write this crap just thick? or are they simple? I can't decide....

BJH YNWA.

can you tell me why we have our top striker serving a ban.our other strikers couldnt hit a barn door,were half way through the transfer window having just drawn yet another match,and we dont seem in any hurry to put our scoring record right by signing a top class striker.these owners have come in saying theyll do anything to get us back to the top but all ive seen are empty promises when players are coming up for sale were not doin everything we can to sign them.the other owners came up with empty promises now these are doing it because except for suarez and bellamy the other signings that have come in are useless.so come on new owners splash the cash to buy someone big for a change because its getting all us lfc supporters down

Wow...The owners have done so much for the club already. It's evident you have no idea what you're talking about with regards to FSG.

RuncornRed

...and what fantastic, available, good value for money strikers, that would do well in the premiership & want to play for Liverpool right now are you referring to?

Ed002 I've been loving some of your replies over the last few days (even funnier than usual!). Obviously you use humour to deal with comments that are either completely crackpot, blatant lies, the same question over and over or just plain thick.
Anyway thats enough brown nosing so can you tell me who we are most likely to sign cos my dad works at Melwood and he says we are defo getting Higuain and Cavani. Apparently a bloke down the pub said we are gonna fund these purchases with the increased shirt revenue we will get from the clubs planned sales push in the previously untapped market of the Pitcairn Islands!

Chris in Tamworth

How could anyone have the temerity to click "disagree" to Chris in Tamworth's post. I am sure he is correct because we also had a secret shirt revenue plan for Tristan da Cuhne (whose population of 275 towers over the 50 of the pitcairn islands) which was only thwarted by the early Christmas posting date of 30 September - otherwise Messi was in.....

There are a lot of fans slating our summer buys, but Andy Carroll seems to be getting some serious abuse!

I am by no means a Carroll hater in fact i think when he plays he works hard... In a team like stoke I have no doubt he would flourish as they play his brand of football... but i fear that for teams that aspire to be great like ourselves a "target man" no longer has a place in the starting 11 if he has not other dimensions to his game than scoring goals with his head. With the amount of money footballers are on, this is an ability they should all have!

I believe with the way football is evolving we should be looking towards the more technically gifted players as teams like barcelona/real and I hate to say it but Man Utd and Citeh, able to take it round a defender and create space, stand on the last man and beat him off the mark - I believe kenny was trying to recreate the keagan/toshak partnership which could be successful if the "target man" has more to his game than being good in the air! but unfortunately it was a risk that didn't quite pay off - if it had he would have been a genius but we all get things wrong, it just happened to be an expensive mistake.

The fact remains though that Andy Carroll is still a liverpool player who had it not been for some excellent saves, post and cross bars would probabily be on more than Suarez.....so while he plays with a liverbird on his chest we as fans should have a moral responsibility to support him and the rest of the team - or does YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE mean nothing to the modern day fan!

The likes of Shanks and Fagan would be disgusted with some of the fans on here.... I would like nothing more than for us to win the league and every competition we are in, but i'd also get up on sunday mornings to stand for 2 hours in the rain and watch them in the league at the park round the corner!

Danski

Carrolls header that hit the bar from Stevie's cross was a sitter.

Hi eds, just wanted to say the moment anybody states that we are not doing well, they state get behind kenny amd the management or how dare you insult or question kenny. He is human he can be at fault, this is not a dictatership. There has been severe mismangment in the signings of the british trio. Espicially carrol who is a good player however his key attributes does not fit in with our style. Plus with kenny saying we do not need to add, you kinda lose faith. Eds what do you think about this mismanagement, oh and with sow not on our raders who is next. Thanks.
Dilakh {Ed002's Note - I rather think the end of season review with the board will shape the future. I am not sure what the plans for a striker but lean toward Macca or Luuk De Jong still.}

Hi Ed's - This is more of a question than a rumour

Looking at the way we (LFC) have played over the past few weeks and the way that we are unable to 'Kill off' the so called weaker teams in the league do you think 4th place is realistic ?

We should be beating the teams who are towards the middle and lower end of the Prem league and then holding our own (Which we do) against the stronger teams. Without Kenny getting this right we will never reach 4th place.

Our Team:

Goal Keeper - One of the best in the world in JR

Defence - Good defenders who play well as a unit (One of the best in the league)

Carra is now getting older and slower but can still do a job when called upon in the cups etc.

Johnson - Why would we want to sell him !!
Coates - Our long term future

Midfield - Needs a couple of new faces (Right Wing and long term replacement for Stevie G)

Gerrard - One of the best in the world but the wrong side of 30 and long spells off in the medical room. Should be used for the bigger games and spared against the lesser teams.

Downing - Great winger with a great cross. He just needs to be let free to roam a little

Adam & Lucas - Good ball winners with a killer pass

Maxi - Not good enough on the right wing and needs replacing

Henderson, Spearing & Shelvey - Ones for the future with the ability to be a great players

Forwards - This is where we really lack !

Carroll - Doesn't look like a LFC player. People say he is one for the future but I'm not too sure

Belamy & Kuyt - Both have great engines but both now the wrong side of 30 to play every game. More like impact players.

Suarez - If we can keep him at LFC he is our future. A true world class player but needs help upfront.

We need four new players: 1 x Midfielder to play on the right wing and one Playmaker in the middle. Two forwards, one poacher who can score goals (The way own and Fowler did) and one younger player to bring in as cover for Suarez.

What do the Ed's and eaders think ?

Markiemagoo72

Gerrard - wrong side of 30? hes 30...

Tom.

He's 31 mate.

Still not on the wrong side of 30?

What do you think eds? Is Johnson and Soldado possible? fopr around £35 for them both?

LG {Ed002's Note - Both have been discussed at length. I am not going to say if they are possible or not.}

Adam ain't very good in the CDM role so its a defiant No No

Neither is spearing he is an awful CDM so Lucas is the only player at LFC who does the job right {Ed016's Note - I'm sorry but why is awful? I think the lad has done extremely well when you consider he is playing against players with 6 to 7 years more experience than himself. }

Because ED he leaves massive gaps that let their players pass the ball right through ours even the commentators have noticed it such as Shearer and Hansen im surprised you have not...He is not the right man for that job...He is a decent player a little war horse just not in that position, He should stay in an attacking role

History repeats itself and all the morans here slating our own players should always remember this. Remember Lucas and even Agger last season, these two guys have been again and again slated and abused as not good enough. So next time you guys think of abusing Carrol or Henderson just be cautious as you will probably eating your own words with your feet.

Musicnation

Lucas Leiva still an average player.

The only thing that's ever been wrong with Agger is his injury record. An injury free season = a fantastic player.

Look what has happened.

Every sensible person could see Lucas had the quality and talent and he showed glimpses whn he had come and i would say the same for Henderson right now he will come good...but for Carroll he will not play well if we don't get crosses in the box KK takes of Downing(who is supposed to bang in crosses for Carroll) and brings on Carroll. You get the ball in the box and to his head he will get u goals he is not a player who will create something on his own but our style of play is different as of now play it on the ground and although we try to get crosses in we don't have any1 good enough to go down the byline and get in a brilliant cross(apart from Enrique and maybe Johnson and Bellamy). So if we want Carroll to bang in the goals we need crosses but we don't have that quality so what we need now is a striker who can run with the ball atleast a few yards unlike Carroll and can score.

Red Indian 2

We are 2nd only to Chelsea on chances created, problem is Carroll's movement is awful just never gets on the end of anything. You can't always play the perfect ball into him, a class forward will make the most of any ball in and around the penalty area? " See overhead kicks,scissor kicks, hooked shots, turning on a sixpence in the box and getting your shot away all of the things Carroll doesn't do. People on here keep saying he needs better service? Have we got to wait till he gets the perfect ball with no one on him 5yds out. Just nonsense.

Have to say the LFC home support this season has been shocking.

I'm not a native on Liverpool but from watching games on TV - the support towards the side is poor! People say, Liverpool only show up in the big games, why? I think it's down to the fact that the support on them games are brilliant but when it comes to teams in lower end of the table it's dead!
I love when Liverpool play away from home, no matter who we play, you can hear the away support in loud voice. Where is this support at home?

Come on fans, I'm sure Adam, Carroll, Downing etc would love their names sang on the Kop and through out the stadium, not moans anytime a mistake happens. Get behind the team, 4th isn't far away.

Great post man..! We have seen worse times than this, don't know why people still moan. Man city took 3 years to make a good team with all their money. LFC needs time and so the FSG and so the new players..

I think you'll find its the same at most grounds for the big clubs Man Utd, City Arsenal but having said that I went to watch the Oldham game. It was a poor game even though we scored 5 but the atmosphere was awful. The Kop try and start a song but the rest of the ground was so quiet

4th isn't far away? It's further away than it was last week.

I'm not slating the players. I'm not slating KD. But we must improve to get 4th.

Of course 4th isn't far away. I believe if we went on a run of winning all games at least until we play man united we will be 4th. Arsenal, Chelsea and now Newcastle will drop points again and again.

I know the crowds are poor at old trafford, emirates etc but Liverpool fans are known for being passionate in the stands; that's why I posted here and that's why I wouldn't relate Liverpool fans to some other clubs.

Of course if we went on a run of winning all games at least until we play man united we will be 4th...

The problem is that there is absolutely no sign of this happening. You could apply the same theory to Everton!

We are 1 point closer to the gooners

Liverpool FC's decision to revert to their original plans for a new stadium does not mean the club have dismissed the prospect of remaining at a redeveloped Anfield.

Owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) have ditched designs by Dallas-based architects HKS, commissioned by former co-owner Tom Hicks, in favour of the earlier proposals of Manchester company AFL, which were granted planning permission in 2004.

However, it is believed the decision does not mean FSG have totally abandoned hopes of staying at Anfield.

But the futuristic HKS stadium plans, with an estimated cost of £400million - £100million more than those proposed by AFL - have now been consigned to the waste bin.

As nearly nine years have passed since AFL drew up their plans there is some scope for modification, but building a new 60,000-seater stadium in Stanley Park is dependent on the club securing naming rights.

Liverpool have been carrying out a year-long worldwide search to assess the viability of finding sponsorship that will bring in about £150million.

Managing director Ian Ayre has admitted previously that building a new stadium with a capacity only 15,000 more than Anfield makes no financial sense without huge external investment.

And although FSG have decided on how the new stadium should look, they have not committed to it being the definitive solution.

Very soon after FSG took over in October 2010 they began looking at how Anfield could be redeveloped. It is not an easy option as the ground in a residential area, which would require the purchase of numerous properties as well as complicated planning consent.

However, the idea has not been ruled out entirely and sources say both options are still being looked at and the situation is ongoing.

Danny.

Please redevlop Anfield,if at all possible!

We just signed an 19 year old playmaker from portugal and he has already scored in the kop.Over the last year we are singing the best young players around europe,we just signed the new drogba the other day,we signed sterling a year or so ago,with all this young talent were going to be some team in about 3 years when these players coming through,comoli is building for the future,we must have at least 5 or 6 of the best young players around at anfield,we cant keep buying duds like andy carroll and we dont have man citys money,so i think the future is bright if were patient,were building a winning team here not buying one and our owners did say that remember when the took over and they said this,were work in progress and the best young talent is coming to anfield,even henderson is a young one too and he is in the team so i am optimistic with all this young talent coming to LFC...

The foundations are being laid for the next red empire . {Ed016's Note - straight up, best post of the day for me. to all the fans that are moaning and impatient, all i will say now is Rome was not built in a day}

Spot on.

The only problem is that the darned Champions League crap creates enormous pressure to finish in top four NOW. This pressure appears to be stifling the players on the field. {Ed016's Note - it is the financial pressure and you really do need it to improve, one season can turn a club around, except for everton althought at least they got a holiday, bless}

Common sence isn't that common is it. Stupid idiotic morans asking why were not biddin for tevez. For a kick off he's moody. He's brought trouble to very club he's ever been at and to top it all off he's on a zillion pound a week.

And please stop askin about stupid players like cavani and higuine. Why would they come to us were there's no guarantee of cl football and all all the other clubs that would be interested in them can offer big wages. And please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe gerrard is on£125.000 a week and it's in his contract that no other player can earn more than him. So just to name a few Chelsea. City. Utd. Milan. Inter. Psg some rusian clubs some Spanish clubs can all offer big money to get them. Big wages to keep them cl football.

Please use a bit of common sence befor you wind the eds up so much that they eiher just delete all messages or just post them all and make the rest of us suffer through reading stupid. Idiotic. Moranic ideas please think befor you start typing.

My mate works in lime street train station, in liverpool and just text me, sayin he just sold tickets to Damian Comolli to go to london?!?!?!?!? Defoe??? maybe??? if we can get him for under £15mill, would it be bad?!?!
JD BRooks! {Ed002's Note - Van Persie? Torres? Dempsey? Paul Furlong?}

Yea but are we lookin at any of those players?, i only no that we are lookin at Defoe
JD BRooks {Ed002's Note - I am now thinking smokescreen - and Comolli will pull a flanker getting off the train in Birmingham to sign Bent.}

We need strikers....

I heard Michael Owen has just signed back on loan until the end of the season. We will be given the option to signing him in the summer.

Suarez and owen up front....

liverpool have signed teixeira for 1 million. we'll never see him as he will be swallowed in the reserve/youth teams like all other young talent at liverpool. dalglish needs to be sacked now!

The same thing that happened to players like, Shelvey, Robinson, Flanagan and Kelly? Who have all had a run in the 1st team under Kenny, unnamed nobhead. Next time you want to slag anyone off, at least try and make it, a reasonable point/argument.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Sackin him for makin a signin is a bit much isnt it? Jus cause the lad is 19 and we need someone to step up to the plate now, doesnt mean dalglish should be sacked for thinkin about the future, blimey!

is there any chance lfc will sign great players if not forget the crap players that we are being linked with start bringing in the youth players in and work with them sterling ,suso, etc if we cant get good players then forget about the crap ones ,

18 Jan 2012 14:04:54
4th place is still very achievable arsenal and chelsea both have champions league to distract them slightly, so a solid push for 4th is possible with the support from us fans. Anfield has been disapointing this season but we are still undefeated there so with a bit of luck and target practice we may well start to see the hard work being put in come to flourish.

18 Jan 2012 14:04:07
can anybody explain why english players are valued far higher than foreigners ? "ooohhhh he's english so he's worth 35m" if andy caroll was jamaican he'd had been worth next to nothing. {Ed001's Note - if he had been Jamaican, he would have struggled to get a work permit as they are not ranked highly enough.}

Because the teams need 8 of the 25 players to be british. This kinds of regulation of the free market adjust the normal combination between price and demand. More teams want british players, higher price.

....and he is not a "special talent."

Ash

They are obviously going to cost more because of the quota we have to have in the squad. Carrolls record at newcastle was great and looked like been Roonys long term strike partner for england. He still may well be, he just needs to get back to what he was like at Newcastle.

Nice one ed!

Good one ed, missed the point completely. we have wasted money in simple terms on plasyers that are not anywhere near the liverpool standard, if ur happy for fringe players to be our marquee signings then maybe we share a slightly different passion for our club. The club i support are on the slippery slope of failure as we are buying s**te. Do i support the players and will i continue to support em? OFCOURSE. This club is my life and when we bring in players for the future that are'nt progressing its a worry. Defoe 20m (laughable)...just look at the players available on bosmans this year!

Post above this excellent.The ar hole brigade are out today-dare to show any criticism your not a fan

18 Jan 2012 13:52:43
I don't get it - which part of Kenny saying hes happy with the squad don't you understand?
WE ARE NOT SIGNING ANYONE!

Gazman...........perhaps the bit where all managers lie about their transfer dealings, then reveal a deal they've been working on for months? He must know we need a proven striker - none of our current options is working - even Suarez has not scored that many - if only Michael Owen were 5 years younger!

18 Jan 2012 13:52:37
I think Macca means.....

Alvarez Ricardo Gabriel
Tuesday, April 12 1988

Mauro Matias Zarate
Wednesday, March 18 1987

These two are very good players.

Or, he could just mean Luc Castaignos...

Alvarez isn't a striker and Zarate doesn't even play for Inter..

Stu.

Zarate is on loan at Inter from Lazio, Stu.

18 Jan 2012 13:44:55
Why are people giving the club a hard time about the lack of activity? Don't get these fans at all not real fans. KK will be doing what he needs to do as it for the best interst of the club. Get off his back and put your energy behind the squad. If we sign players fine of not fine. End of argument!

Hmmm maybe because people want their team to win?

Not real fans? lfc takes up a huge part of my life and i want the team to succeed, if they lose it ruins my weekend ( you can all relate to that)....are you saying ur happy for our current squad to remain as it is? becos i know im not. Average players were brought in which has made our club an average club (hence being 6th position at present) and this current situation is stopping us from getting the players we want becos the standard of football is poor and we arent offering cl football.

Post above and others of the"patience persausion=great support,love your club.Not everyone can win.However be quarter of century soon since Title chaps

18 Jan 2012 13:43:59
We all want a class striker but its not going to happen! On saturday we had 2 strikers on our bench granted Carrolls useless but chose to play Kuyt up front on his own (correct me if im wrong but did kuyt not prove about 5 year ago that he couldnt hack it as a striker in premier league?) If that was any other manager other than KING Kenny he would get slated but yet we sit and listen to him giving it the whole work in progress rubbish! While ever we have our heads that far up Kenny's arses we arent going to see the bare facts! Were 7th in the premier league and havent progressed since sacking Benitez and spent a hell of a lot of money in doing so! Good run in the cups could be our only saving grace but i wouldnt expect too much! This is the worst Arsenal and Chelsea have done in years and we still cant take advantage so what are our chances in the years to come? Oh yeah i remember its work in progress..... Bull!

18 Jan 2012 12:58:45
Sorry Ed's not so much a rumour. It has been widely suggested by many on this site is that we struggle to buy top class players around the world due to our financial muscle (not being able to compete with Man U & Chelsea etc). Do we not have a few backers behind John & Tom? I understand not competing in the Champions League has its impact financially but with all these new sponsorship deals and being the 4th highest kit seller in the world then I thought we would be in a good position....your thoughts? {Ed002's Note - Selling more kit does not make any difference at all. FSG is an investment vehicle and not a bunch of wealthy football fans looking to throw vast amounts of money at the club for transfers. FSG are responsible owners who have already put a great deal of money in to the club and who are picking up the tab for players out on loan, for the losses being made on the day-to-day running etc.. European football, particularly the champions league, is a significant revenue stream and keeps the profile of the club at the highest level. The target is fourth or better at the end of the season and the club is well positioned to push for that.}

18 Jan 2012 12:49:48
4th spot is gone - I'd pick Coady, Flannigan and Robinson with shelvey, Henderson and caroll in all home games til the end of the season. Bring Suso off the bench regularly too.

They would do well IMO and give them valuable experience. We have nothing to lose because we don't win at home anyway and I for one would hate to be in the Europa league again.

We're gonna win the double cups this year! Come on reds!

Don't sign anyone Kenny -

Gazman

You say 4th is gone and you say you dont want to be in the europa league but want us to win both cups ? correct me if im wrong but dont the cup winners go into the europa league ?

trev d

Well done Trev. Have a gold star

Thank you i will cherish it forever

trev d

4th spot is gone? Where? We're 5 points off 4th with 17 games to play. Is your glass totally empty, Gazman?

18 Jan 2012 12:47:41
We have to be realistic with our targets and how we currently appeal to players with no european football etc. This would be my team based on realistic purchases to help us get 4th spot back!

Reina
johnson
agger
samba
enrique
a.johnson
gerrard
adam
bellamy
suarez
fletcher

although fletcher and samba may not be world class, they are realistic targets and i think they would fit in nicely, both proven premiership players.

johnson may be slightly unrealistic dependant on how is services are currently required by mancini. Should there be no hope of johnson gracing anfield id like to see Sterling given an opportunity with a rotation of hendo.

easyD

You would drop Martin Skrtel for Chris Samba... Skrtel is in the form of his life and has matured into a quality centre half! Throwing money away, we dont need quick fixes a football club should never be run like that. Johnson, Fletcher and Samba are not the quality Liverpool should be looking at, dont get me wrong they are good player for their clubs however we have players at Liverpool with similar levels of ability. I understand Johnson has scored goals and what have you for Man City but in that team I would get a fair share. His end product is as good as Downing's, he doesnt start many games for a reason. We cannot attract world beaters and we haven't got an unlimited amounts of money in the coffers but we just need to be a little more patient and asses the squad come February 1st...

James Mc

18 Jan 2012 12:43:04
Kenny Dalglish is not happy with the current squad. No Manager particularly one with his experience and greatness could be happy with our lack of goals. He just wants to keep the media and other clubs off our backs until the business is done. Keep faith in the King and John W Henry!

Who choose to play 5-4-1 again Stoke City at Anfield? Rafa Benitez?

In King Kenny we TRUST!

3 at the back!!

X factor at back-same difference

Mr 'Who choose'.

5 at the back? 5-4-1? What a simplistic viewpoint.

Writing down little numbers that represent formations (such as you have with your '5-4-1') does not show or prove whether or not a formation is defensive or attacking.

It can be either.

The most attacking team we've had since I started supported LFC was the Roy Evans side of 94/95. That had 3 central defenders and two wingbacks too.

We did most of the attacking on Saturday, just as we did last season when we won 2-0 using the same system.

I'm sure you were saying that Kenny got it spot on that time too.

BJH YNWA.

18 jan 2012 12:42:02
macca - please share some light on who this player is...the fact that other sites will post it and newspapers will start stories is irrelevant and will not hinder out chances of signing this player. please give us an insight as this transfer window is looking like the previous windows with limited activity, nonsense rumours and complete specualtion. im starting to worry that we are doomed for failure. at present we are going backwards. we need to start giving the youngsters an opportunity to develop in 1st team games because we are not going to attract big name players with our current form and with cl being way out of sight its an opportunity for what we have to bring the spark back. get sterling some first team action...im sure sterlings pace would be more frightening that kuyts work rate.

eds- wats ur opinion on fletcher (wolves) should he be available i think he would be a great addition at a low price!

easyd
{Ed002's Note - I don't think it is fair to say there was limited activity in the last two windows.}

Steven Fletcher? LOL

Activity of any quality i meant. i want players that will make an immediate impact and not somebody for the future

its going to be very hard to be a Champion in EPL . Man Utd have a Big team. Chelsea , City invest huge amount of money in player. Tottenham set player better then us. Arsenal is always a big position for no 4. we need 2 young player like Gerrard and Owen . then only we may cope with top 4 other wise I don't see we challenge the EPL in near future.

I have to say this is quite a poor show from supporters, when all a Mum wants is justice for her son and people can`t be bothered to show their support for such a great cause. Ross {Ed002's Note - This is not really the forum to say such things against the supporters. The link has been posted several times on the various pages and it is clear many, many people from this forum have signed up.}

I am not doubting that Ed, their are many people who have worked really hard, but it will a real shame if we do not get to the 100,000 names before tomorrow. And with the fan base LFC have we should easily get to that figure. Ross

Ross, should imagine the majority of people on this site have signed. I think the best chance is that fans on the pages for the other teams try to get it posted on there official club site to. teams like city, Utd, the gunners and Celtic could get a lot of sigantures in a short time.

Big andy needs to go, we can get someone better

Who want to buy AC for at least 20M?

At the moment no one.

Re-wind about 15 months.
Carroll was destroying defences for NUFC and scoring goals with his head and feet.
He scored a beauty against us at their place.
If someone had told me, he was soon to be an LFC player, I'd have been delighted.
As it happens, he was injured when he signed and it just hasn't really happened for him since.
But can we all forget about the price tag?
I'd love us to sign another £30 million player simply to take the pressure off Carroll!
By all accounts he's looking sharper in training, I just think he needs confidence in games.
Us paying £35 million for him didn't make him a world class striker overnight. But a poor run of form hasn't made him rubbish either.
Have faith!
Joe

mc geady

Mcgeady is awful im irish and have seen him play on numerous occasions.

Yea i am a liverpool fan ! firstly and mc geady is a quality winger and mccarthy is a very good midfield player Llorente would be one of the few players that would be able to play along side carroll as he is tall and more mobile

Morning all,
I was at the game against stoke and was sure I saw sterling warming up with the subs prior to kick off but he wasn't named on the bench. Is my eyesight really that bad or could it have been a chance to expose him to the atmosphere of a first team game? I'm guessing if he was out there then he must be pushing close for the matchday squad.

Cheers
Greggers

Your eyes were correct! He was there with the squad to get him use to things. Fingers crossed he will be pushing for a spot on the bench, crying out for someone who can inject bit of pace/skill. Should we ever score and be few goals up, he should come on for last 10-15mins when there will be no pressure on him to create and score. The guy is brilliant.

I sit in the Paddock and can confirm Stirling was warming up. Don't think he made the bench though.

Hi Eds,

Quick question regarding Jonjo Shelvey.
Do you know if he is highly rated or not by the Liverpool Staff? If he is, will he get a chance soon? From what i've seen off him, he looks a top prospect for the future and more Gerrard-like with his style of play than Henderson. I could see him and Henderson dominating midfielders in years to come.

Be much appreciated if you could give me your thoughts on this,

Cheers,

Dean. {Ed002's Note - You can assume that they think he has a future as a squad player as he was not part of the summer clear out and was sent out on loan to gain experience. But I don't see him as being more than a squad player rather than a "first pick" per se.}

Shelvey can be a great player if he wants it bad enough, i always thought of him being the more likely player in the current squad as Gerrard's replacement.

Rafa Benitez signed Jonjo Shelvey not Kenny Dalglish.

We are supposed to have Commolli (our secret weapon) to sort out all transfer activity as well as unearthing undiscovered gems!!
We were lead to believe there will be replacements to help the 'Suarez ban period'...clearly we need a right winger with pace (my 9 year old boy, knows that)...is there anything happening?

Come on, Commolli, earn your crust mate...

Another 'fat cat executive'!.

Not exactly Commolli's fault. Even if he has found some players they would still have to pass what appears to be our new criteria for buying players - i.e they are British and crap.

Secret weapon? He wasn't wanted in france and wasn't wanted in north london! Most players linked with him he never found! Certainly that was the case at spurs! He oversaw the signings of bale, modric etc he never found them nor scouted them, actually he scouted berbatov and thought he wasn't good enough! Levy went over his head to the chief scout! Same at arsenal, yes he found Henry! But he lives off of that! So if your willing to pay £35 mill for a player.....comolli will be rubbing his hands all day long!

You must remember that although Comolli keeps coming up with the names, it is KK who has the final say whether to sign the player of not.
I personally believe Comolli DID have a wealth of targets such as Mata which KK rejected, as he favored English signings.

Also, look at the number of people who have signed new contracts with us. Comolli is doing a great job.

PITSILFC

The guy who blame Comolli is donkey!

'the guy who blame camolli is a donkey'? didn't realise carroll had posted!!

Mata was one of my targets. Can I have Comolli's job? We've got similar credentials. Neither of us speak very good Spanish....

Saw this on the BBC Sport website this morning:

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has urged his side to be more creative after they were held 0-0 at home by Stoke.

"The responsibility was on us to be more imaginative to break them down and we didn't manage to do it," he said.

Surely having 5 defenders on against Stoke stifles creativity, im sorry Kenny but responsibility lies right at your door on this one - you got it wrong.

I think he should have given the Kids some time in the second half, what's the worse that could happen lose a point (as we drew the game) or we gain 2 points and discover that some of the kids have the potential to play more games for the first team.

JJ LFC

Being 'creative' is one thing, converting opportunities is another. Unfortunately we are well short in both areas, thus 24 goals in 18 games. Stop beating around the bush, we need strike power, winger, creative mid. Time is a wasting, and opportunities are fading. Another year without Champs League football is looking likely.

KK has shown criticism of our creastiveness-Support the team KK,your talking b ocks,stop moaning,were a work in progress,Carrol will come good,go and manage another team,call yourself a red?!Love Blair,Cozinoz,Mikey,K.b etc etc yawwwwnnnnn

Was in the pub yesterday in Dalglish and Steve Keen, they were telling me about a possibility of maybe Messi joining at the end of the season but they are yet to agree personal terms, a fee has been agreed on 2.5 mil. There is also a possibility of Iain Rush coming back to play in the red with a year long loan from flintshire Town. There is also a massive rumour circling the web that Stevie Heighway is coming back to be a menace on the right hand flank. YNWA.JFT96. Much Apprieted Sean Williams.

hi guys great website. I am sorry to say this but i don't see spearing or shelvey as good young prospects for the future. There are other players to rant about but im just talking about the young players. henderson is ok but 20 million is much for a young guy. Also i still think carroll should be given time, but 35 million is a lot of money. spearing has done nothing but give away penalties and shelvey, does the same thing as well giving the ball away. The only good player who has done great for us is martin kelly. he should play while johnson is put in midfield. but kenny does not do it. I know people might disagree with me about the young players but, im just saying that we shouldn't focus on the future, but focus on now the present. what do u guys think?. thanks and ynwa

You don't have a clue, mate.

Every day that passes without us signing a creative player or a goal scorer costs us premier league points and a chance of 4th place. If we draw 0-0 at Bolton thats another 2 points gone. Our current set-up are not producing the goals. My point is if we had signed someone when Suarez ban began, we surely would have had more points on the board. KK and co. knew the possibility of Suarez ban being upheld and should have began the process of negotiations with any targets then and had in place beginning of this month. As another fixture looms and another goalless draw also, we should have been giving ourselves the best chance. I feel we are re-active instead of being pro-active = lost points (who do you blame ed's) Believe for KK and DC Unbelieve - if you think we are right to wait.

Phil. Belfast.

Ridiculous. Do you really think Liverpool are intentionally trying not to win? They will surely be looking at all options. How do we know what the limitations are? Perhaps they have already went after several targets, who weren't interested. We all think LFC are top team in the world, but on paper, we have been 6 - 7 position for three years.

Blimey, we're missing out on points without even playing? Shouldn't we report this to the FA!

We playing every day now? i'll have to have a word with my pay tv provider and find out why the hell i'm only getting one seventh of the games i should be getting!

Red7.

When KK took over we were somewhere in the table I don't usually have to look at.

During his 16 Premier League games of last season he averaged 1.8 points per game.

This season, after 21 games, he's averaged 1.67 points.

Last season we complained about the lack of quality players. There were a number of big money signings over the summer. You can argue that we're in a transition period etc but the stats speak for themselves.

Of course, what the stats don't tell you is that we're playing good football and our defenders are doing a great job.

We've had some bad luck and come across some fantastic goal keeping but that's only part of the problem.

The lack of Suarez & Gerrard playing together has been a massive problem too.

As things stand are, we will be fighting for 6th with Newcastle.

Something has to change.

Great post above.Get your tinhat on.Loads dont realise you can have opposing view in our society

just like to say the red men will be buying sow. sow there youve got to reap just wot you sow!!!
By the way, why do you have to be such a sarcy sow and sow eds?

18 Jan 2012 09:00:20
morning eds.. first time poster here i aint got a rumor more of a observation. is it just me ( a die hard liverpool fan )or are football fans in general living in a world of fifa 12 rather than actually supporting there team. what i mean is if ur teams not doing well then buy someone n everythng will be ok. what happend to getting behind ur team and surporting them to the hilt anfield was embarising on saterday. so come on reds get behind them remember we didnt buy ne one at half time in istanbul . mr reality {Ed002's Note - It is interesting as you look at the different club pages and certainly some clubs have fans who are clearly playing the fantasy games and throwing up names, but some it never seems to come up.}

Good post. It's pretty much what I wanted to say but couldn't put it into words!
I watch any football going and consider myself to have a decent knowledge of players, but some people list name after name of young players I've never heard of! Stinks of FIFA12 fever to me!

hi its in the liverpool echo today about the stadium , the sports group have elected to go back to an original plan but revamped a bit instead of hicks and gillettes design , it will cost about 300 mill and are still in talks with liverpool council { get it of the ground ynwa}

Controversial - but i blame Rafa for some awful signings and decisions on players which put the club back years, then Hodgson didn't help. I like KK but DC should have the final say on signings - Kenny's radar is slightly off at the moment.

Overall Rafa poor - agree or disagree?

Agree. Rafa was piss poor, both in signings and playing staff management.

BooDaBooze

Torres, Reina, Alonso, Masch, Luis Garcia, Agger, Lucas and Glen Johnson.

Hardly 'piss poor' signings.

Adam

I'll give you Agger, Lucas & Masch as not obvious signings!!!

Easy to blame Rafa Benitez but hard to blame Kenny Dalglish. LOL

ARROGANT + HYPOCRITE = ******* FANS

He lost the dressing room in his last season but he gave us some of the most greatest nights at Anfield the place ever witnessed and a come from behind victory that will echo through the ages and for that he can have my good kidney

Lets not forget he was in charge during the darkest days of our club with tom and jerry in charge. when he had money to spend he brought in fantastic players. when the pot was dry he was less succesful. still the best tactician for the european game. i would have him back anyday

Rafa is ancient history. End of.

Sorry to be a bore. This isn't a rumour, more a statement based on previous experience.

Every transfer window we all get excited and the same old names are tossed about - Hazard, Aguero etc, etc.

Think back - do they ever sign ? ....No siree Bob. We end up with average Joe's (literally in the case of Cole)

So what do you think will happen this window? ....That's right - very little, if anything !

Suarez is the exception that proves the rule. Sadly as he came in we lost Torres. I think we then signed someone else but I am trying to forget that bit !

Hoping I am wrong but it's hard to get excited based on previous experience!

NRW

Suarez, Torres, Mascherano..........

Reina, Alonso, Enrique.............

Yeah,but Mascherano couldn't get into the west ham team,so not exactly an obvious one,Suarez didn't have as much interest as he should have because of his issues,Enrique hardly a star signing,Alonso Wasn't in the Spain squad so that hardly comes as obvious. But ill give you Reina and Torres!

I bet if KK resignes a cut priceTorres u lot will change your tune once he starts banging them goals in

I bet you I wouldn't, I hate him with a passion and never want judas back
G BOX

Agreed. But he wont sign. And he wont start banging goals in so......lets move on

cozinoz

I would definately take Fernando Torres back and reckon he would be a hit again . He is certainly helping LFC by doing nothing for Chelsea at the moment .

Let them have Glen Johnson for him .

I have to get my point accross about the importance of this January transfer window. Last summer we signed Jose Enrique for a small fee, a brilliant defender and technically brilliant, absolutely a class signing. We signed Jordan Henderson, technically gifted player but has much to learn. Charlie Adam was signed for a small fee, probably has one of the sweetest left pegs in the premiership and we've seen some great passers and commitment from him so far this season, a very decent signing, some would argue he is not a first team player at Liverpool, its debatable. Stuart Downing also signed for under 20 Million and hasn't showed his full potential crossing the ball, but has looked sharp on the ball. Last year January we had to sell Fernando Torres for 50 million and we bought Luis Suarez for half that amount, he is arguably one of the top forwards in Europe and has shown that in most games, I would of swapped him for Torres never mind the extra cash. Now Andy Carroll was bought for 35 Million on the last day of the January transfer window, big expectations but proved so far to be unaware of players around him, poor control and decision making but at the same time he is a tall target man who is young with lots to learn.

Now looking at our current position in the League and competitions, we sit in 7th place but 3 points behind 4th place with a little less than half a season to go. We are 1 match away from Wembley in the Carling Cup and we have Man Utd at home in the 4th round of the F.A Cup.

I think it is fair to say that Kenny Dalglish's signings and tactics have improved the squad and the way we play football compared to last season. I have enjoyed the build up play and defensive organisation this season with a little frustration at times, hitting the woodwork most and conceding the least amount of goals.

I am aware of the concern in the fans and the media regarding the signings not being absolutely excellent. I think it's fair to feel that way when the results haven't gone our way. But saying that we have a few players in our team from the last generation that have passed it and will definitely be moving on. We also have a couple gaps left to fill and I can see at least 4-5 positions that need strengthening and I know that Kenny and the backroom staff can see that.

The point im trying to make is that its only been a year or so and we still have several sigings to be made from now till the Summer. We also have a great defense and spine. Its time to get behind the team this year in 2012 and accept Kenny for the progress that has been made. Patience is a virtue and there will always be criticism but just wait and see what players come in this month. 4th place is possible and 2 trophys too. Im sure Liverpool will get that 4th place just have a look at the fixtures with the top 4, we have much work to do but we can do it.

Signings I'd like to see and you'd like to see come in and improve the squad is irrelevant. No one really knows who will come in.

DANIEL HANWELL YNWA

It's about time we had a reality check and a positive outlook on the big picture.

PS. As much as Big Andy is playing poorly at the moment, we need to get behind him. Just look at how he tore the City defence to pieces last season. He has got the raw talent, he just needs time and confidence.

What do you guys think of this team next season

(4-3-3)

Reina [Kelly Coates/Skrtel Agger Enrique] [Gerard Lucas Adam] [Suarez Sow Downing] pending on whether we get another winger he could compete with Downing for a place and if we get another Cm he could join Hendo in competing with Adam for a starting spot

Garth

Its got 6th or 7th place written all over it.

.just read an article.......that liverpool is going to build a new stadium using the 9 year old plan.......

It looks same as emirates and ethiad.....

Anfield is 'unique'...
So as to be our new stadium...
I know hicks and gillete were worst owner..but there design was good..
..
Just think.18,500 fans singing''you'll never walk alone'' from the kop stand,..and investing 300 million just for more 15,000 seats is ridiculous......what do you think guys and ed's which stadium should we built...

JFT96..
'YNWA'

Good point - i totally agree with it all.

jns YNWA

I don't like the original plans but lets see how the updated plans will look.

It isn't just an extra 15,000 bums on seats that bring in the extra revenue. There will be a lot more exec boxes, bigger and better bars, big push on merchandise and possibly even a hotel bolted on somewhere. They want to start building ASAP hence they could draw up a plan to start now extend later without the constraints of the current planning permission.

GK; Reina

RB; Johnson/Kelly
CB; Skrtel/Carragher
CB; Agger/Coates
LB; Enrique

RW; A.Johnson/Downing
CM; Lucas/Henderson
CM; Gerrard/Adam
LW; Bellamy/Maxi

CAM; Suarez/Shelvey
ST; Sow/Carroll

What a team.

IN:

Adam Johnson - Man City - 17mil
Moussa Sow - Lille - 10mil

OUT:

Kuyt - 6mil
Youngsters - Loan

Am I the only person who doesn't want Moussa Sow?

Lazy Lad

Sow was grea last term but again he has struggled to score, this term. Don't know, how good he is. Teixeira looks like a better prospect. I just hope, whoever is brought in, becomes great addition for us. YNWA

Why not

No, you're not the only one. He's an ok finisher but little else. I don't see as technically all that good. To be honest, I thought Papiss Cisse was the better option in my limited knowledge of French football. First choice is always Soldado though for me.,

Ash

I'd rather Sow over Johnson. I just have a bad feeling he won't play too well, but I suppose he'd add something that Kuyt does not.

Disney! {Ed002's Note - You will of course refrain from such remarks Syd.}

Please give up on A. Johnson people! He is not leaving City. Even if they signed Hazard, Goetze, Neymar. As long as there is room for him to sit on the bench and collect 150 000 per week, he is going nowhere.

18 Jan 2012 02:02:27
hey ed,

this is what i think will happen whats your view

a young striker like texeira will be brought in
a middle age like sow (lille bought a striker today)
and a pacey winger (not sure who)

that is this window

summer would see
grenaro or eriksen
and luuk de jong

and see some faces out do you think this would be possible i put it out earlier and a lot said hey your probably right just wondering {Ed005's Note - 25 middle aged? Try not to offend the OAPs on here lol. I personally think we'll see about two players sign, what ages and who I'm not toally sure. I'd say one will be a player with potential - one for the future and another who is for now.}

18 Jan 2012 01:47:40
Fernandez Suso only 18 would be a fantastic player for liverpool! Still has a lot to learn & gain physically the young spaniard but watching him reminds me of Xabi Alonso! Would love to see him come up the ranks

Hope, we're giving his some training time with Senior Squad and then shift himout on short-term loan to gain some experience. My favourite player in our youth, atm. YNWA

18 Jan 2012 02:13:27
Jesus wept! Aquilani is injured again, the boss eyed glass ankled f***wit! He's only played 20 games for Milan and we need him to play at least 25 or we won't even get the few bob at the end of the season that we agreed for him (about £5 million) I rate him as a player but it's clear he doesn't want to be here, so rather than let him run his contract down on loan again, I'd prefer to cash our chips in with him and get at least a few quid back for the summer buys.

18 Jan 2012 00:54:10
oh ed forgot to ask if we were to sign sow how would he sign?would he come over like cisse for newcastle pictures etc then fly back.senegals 1st game is on the 21st so surely thurs at the latest.DORSET RED {Ed001's Note - we can agree it all and sign him subject to a medical if need be. But the likeliest option would be to either fly him back between games for a medical or to fly a medical team out there.}

Ah right so could be anytime then.if he was to sign would you say thats it on the signing front?id like to see another winger.is the king going to suprise us again.DORSET RED {Ed005's Note - I'd say we'll perhaps go in for another one/two - subject to whether we sell Kuyt or not.}

18 Jan 2012 00:33:32
ed could you see kenny giving adjoran or suso a go if we cant find a creative cam before the summer?i think we are missing a benayoun type player to unlock those tough defences.DORSET RED {Ed001's Note - I think Shelvey is ahead of them in the pecking order, it would take injuries to get them in this season in my opinion. Unless they really show something special in the next few weeks.}

What position would you play shelvey ed and do you see us playing a mix of players for bolton to rest key players for city.say carra maxi aurelio to start.DORSET RED {Ed001's Note - I would give Shelvey a free role behind the striker/s, very similar to the one Gerrard used to play for Rafa. He isn't in Gerrard's class, but then who is? But he can do a good job there for the team while Gerrard can burst forward from slightly deeper, which, I feel, suits Gerrard better. Or Gerrard can be put on the right, where his crossing can be deadly. Right now though, I feel Shelvey is a better option than Henderson, who is clearly lacking confidence, though I do think he has the ability to come good.}

18 Jan 2012 00:15:05
It's been reported that Edison Cavani has been given a €16m price tag! Would this have any affect in us pursuing him? Suarez & Cavani... Unplayable. I'm obviously being too optimistic, but surely there could be a chance no? Ed's, know anything more?
Cheers. {Ed001's Note - last I heard they asked for 40m, so I don't know where this 16m price tag has come from. Do you have any links to the story regarding it?}

The Cavani story is from the Gazetta Della Sport, Ed mate. They said that Napoli paid 16 mill for him, not what he is worth now.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

The 16m is what Napoli paid for him lol. The Ed is spot on with his valuation.

I think he or she may have read this article. Ed,

www.liverpool-kop.com/2012/01/confirmed-16m-uruguay-striker-is.html

Whatever his cost, Levezzi is a superior option {Ed002's Note - But to be clear, neither will be moving to Liverpool in January.}

Hey ed,
What happened to my post to Huyton Red about the stadium please ?
It was on earlier about 5pm, and now has disappeared.
The Real KB {Ed001's Note - no idea sorry, though some posts had to be removed due to the foul mouthed responses they were generating. It could be that yours was collateral damage.}

Dear me. I seem to have gathered a few unwanted followers lately. Maybe I'll give it a rest. OK cheers.
The Real KB {Ed001's Note - I don't think it was your fault at all mate. Don't let it worry you honestly.}

I understand the Eds are sick and tired of responding to the same questions about the same players, but the readers of this great site are sick of reading the questions with Eds answering use search to find answers. Why post the question in the first place? Just ignore anything that has been repeated and put a note at the top stating that if your question/rumour has not been posted, then use search.
A suggestion (not sure if possible), why dont you sort the page by player name and that way the Eds can update each player if there is any news or possible transfer.
Just an idea from a daily reader.
THanks for the great work. {Ed001's Note - we wanted to put up a page with just updates on like that, but we haven't had the time to create it, let alone to maintain it once it is up.}

17 Jan 2012 23:44:15
I know I will probably get a load of a buse for saying this but I feel that some of the current players aren't showing why they should be in the team. My thought is that if we are drawing most of our games because of these players then why don't we just play some youth. We have nothing to lose if they play well then its good if they don't play so well they are still young ans can learn. This is my view at least until we get some new talent. Mainly a winger (if not two depending on your opinion of downing), striker (dw I am one of the lpool supporters who thinks carroll just needs a chance just we are thin at that position), possibly CM. My feeling is that Sinclair from swansea seems like a good player to get in january but that we might wait it out till the summer to buy someone with more quality. Sow doesn't seem to me like the kind of player the owners are looking for tbh but they're not the ones signing the players so might happen.
Cheers EDs all doing a good job

After KK said that he isn't going to make any signings I thought to myself why aren't we making any signings because we need to make some. Who would suggest as player to sign and who is most likely to sign

Thanks
