Ynwa Lucas . My favourite player for so many reasons.

19 Jul 2017 08:29:20
I'm hoping he can return and do some sort of coaching role with Gerrard and the youngsters, them two bringing the youngsters through would be fantastic.

{Ed025's Note - unfortunately teabag being a good player does not automatically make you a good coach mate..

19 Jul 2017 08:51:57
True ed25 mate, your not wrong.

18 Jul 2017 23:30:48
I see Keita played for RBL in a friendly game tonight. Laughing with his fans and signing autographs.

Thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - It is the side he plays for - would you want to sign a player who didn't show respect for his club and their fans?}

18 Jul 2017 23:41:17
It's a coded message to Liverpool to sign him 😎.

19 Jul 2017 02:10:47
Its a coded message that RBL have no intention of selling him.

19 Jul 2017 06:29:18
Ed002 to be fair it wouldn't be the first time a club has signed a player who has no respect for the fans.

19 Jul 2017 14:00:11
He signed off YNWA love Naby. I think it's on boys.

18 Jul 2017 21:09:47
Ed's can you shed any light as to why the camera crew were staring?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The girl had Hemorrhoids - move on.}

18 Jul 2017 23:16:26
I don't get the Lucas love in. Yeah I suppose he was an average squad player for the last ten years but he just sums up the last ten years for Liverpool. mediocrity. I wish him well, I hope he does Well, he seemed a decent bloke but he was never ever good enough. he won't be missed by me I'm afraid.

Believable9 Unbelievable18

18 Jul 2017 23:33:54
Wow, what?

18 Jul 2017 23:34:47
Terrible attitude to have to a loyal server to the club that gave everything. Not to mention his importance in off the pitch matters helping foreign players settle whilst minimising the effect the language barrier had on them. He was never a world beater on the pitch but that's not the reason people are showing him love, he was simply a great guy that is Liverpool through and through. I wish him all the best and thank him for everything he has done for the club over the last ten years. YNWA.

{Ed025's Note - he was a decent enough player CMK but lets not go over the top about him, he did a good job for which he was paid a phenomenal salary and he never let the club down which is to his credit mate..

18 Jul 2017 23:48:34
Opitimizes everything you would want in a player, especially heart and respect. Very underrated and loves the club. Like actually cares!

19 Jul 2017 00:14:57
Ben is being a bit harsh but his sentiment is bang on. Lucas is a top bloke and an amazing professional but with limited ability. It's to his credit that he stayed at a top club for so long for a player who lacks any physical attributes to be an elite footballer. It just shows how good his attitude and application is to have a place in our squad for so long. I hope he does well he truly deserves it but I'm glad he won't be playing for us anymore as he's not good enough for a team challenging for top honours.

19 Jul 2017 01:33:42
He was a good holding midfielder,

He was used as a utility player of late and often played out of position.

He always gave 100% and always had a smile on his face.

Best of luckas Lucas.

19 Jul 2017 05:54:34
Got our players of the season 1 year and were it not for injuries would have got at least another under his belt if not more.

19 Jul 2017 06:26:53
Top bloke and Loyal servant! Average player!

18 Jul 2017 23:53:33
Ed025 which is exactly why people are showing him the love and gratitude he deserves. He went out and gave 100% every game he played and helped foreign players settle (that's what they've all said) . I wouldn't say it was over the top, simply confused how after ten years at the club a fan can question why people are wishing him good luck and thanking him the day he leaves.

19 Jul 2017 07:46:44
"Epitomises everything's that you would want in a player"?

I guess that is very dependent upon who you are, your values, and what you want for your club.

I'm not showing my hand either way other than to say that I very much respect LL and his loyalty and wish him well but the questions ask is:

Would closer to everything you want in a player be closer to a Luis Suarez or a Lucas?

18 Jul 2017 23:11:05
Remember those who slagged off Lucus. You were wrong and so are those who constantly slag off the likes of Clyde. He is not the greatest but he is a Liverpool player who I think plays to the best of his ability. Just like Lucus. This is the best squad we have had for years. Balance of youth, talent and wisdom. Get behind the team. Yes I'd like a few more players in key positions but I would be equally happy to see Gomez improve and grucic develop.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

19 Jul 2017 01:19:11
Difference is Lucas to the best of his abilities in his prime was good enough to be a first team player. Unfortunately Clyne as hard as he tries is not good enough right now.

19 Jul 2017 01:36:36
Right turn Clyde or right back Clyne?

19 Jul 2017 07:59:34
Both have or had enough in them to be good enough. I mean look at the equivelent defence and midfield players that won the league with LCFC 2 seasons ago?! It would be hard so argue that either would not have got into that team. It's a team game I will always say and feel that and if there is the right on field chemistry, the right management tactic, and the right player attitudes, the next a group of very decent players without one world class player included can succeed. Personally I think we are on a decent track and as unfortunate as it is that Lucas did the right thing for him to get regular games (because he'd have still been a decent squadie and a respected one too) I think Clyne will continue to improve and develop with team chemistry and managerial tactic all in the right direction. And then there is a certain young right back that can push him all the way.

18 Jul 2017 23:03:00
Read a lot of Lucas post praising his charactet in the dressing room, influence on and off the pitch. Great man person etc etc.
Can i also add what a quality player he was on his day and before his serious injuries was well on his way to becoming one of the top defensive midfielders in world football.

Believable10 Unbelievable0

18 Jul 2017 23:52:52
Lucas reads the game as well as anyone, just doesn't have the physical capabilities to be as effective as he could be.

19 Jul 2017 02:05:05
Great man, or great person? Or great man person?

Evening eds

Any update on outgoings or incomings please? Bit quite last few days.

What you got for us please🤔.

18 Jul 2017 21:46:10
Ed002, any truth in Markovic being offered to Besiktas?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Sure - he has been offered to plenty of clubs.}

18 Jul 2017 18:12:26
Question for the Eds. Who do you think is the best captain in the premier league?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Tommy Smith of Huddersfield.}

18 Jul 2017 22:54:12
Very Surprising that no club showed any 'keen' interest in Aubameyang, one of the best number 9 in the world at that price.

Believable2 Unbelievable5

18 Jul 2017 23:14:08
There must be a reason.

18 Jul 2017 23:27:25
It's a very strange one, but you've got to ask why.
Nobody wants the lad.

19 Jul 2017 01:44:06
Hes wanted at Dortmund.

He's 28 and still has 3 years on his contract.

Dortmund announced today that he is not for sale.

So I wonder who is in for him?

18 Jul 2017 22:28:20
If klopp was told we would break the bank for Keita or vvd but could only get one, who would it be?
For me Keita, purely because I believe he can be special - I don't think vvd will be, although we could probably use a CB more than a CM! Tough one!

Believable4 Unbelievable1

18 Jul 2017 22:46:49
He'd have to go for NK but who know's.

18 Jul 2017 22:47:30
We should get both! We decided to go through the cheap options for LB and pushed a youngster to play at RB, if the club couldn't afford 3 first team players then that's it! I am ready to sacrifice Lallana!

18 Jul 2017 22:51:39
A really tough call!

i would go for Kieta.
There is still a number of intelligent/ decent CB's in the
Market. But Kieta's skill set is rare!

18 Jul 2017 23:01:15
VVD for me. I think improving the defence is more pressing.

18 Jul 2017 23:03:03
Agreed, Keita. Give Gomez a go, don't go splashing out 70 mil on a CB before giving Gomez a chance who could himself become a 70 mil player in a few years.

18 Jul 2017 23:29:35
For me it would be keita, even though we need a cb more. This is because if we miss out on keita this year everyone and their dog will want him for under 50 mil next year whereas I believe we have more chance of getting VVD next year out of the 2.

18 Jul 2017 23:30:53
It all depends on who you trust more; Lovren or Henderson. Personally I'd rather see Henderson in the midfield than Lovren in the defence.

18 Jul 2017 23:44:39
Hendersons place is not under threat.

18 Jul 2017 21:57:14
Gotta say Hernandez for sale at the quoted 13 million is good business in my opinion.

Believable4 Unbelievable7

18 Jul 2017 22:53:20
(1) He's an ex Manc.
(2) He's a goal hanger and doesn't contribute to the team effort, so will not fit in with Klopp's tactics.
(3) We are over stocked in the forward department and I'm not convinced he's a significant upgrade.

19 Jul 2017 01:20:22
Ronaldo is also an ex Manc. You wouldn't want him in the team because of that then?

18 Jul 2017 21:30:44
Just a little extra from Lucas open letter I thought was particularly note worthy.

"Off the pitch, I was honoured to become a trustee of the LFC Foundation and got to see at first hand the work they do in the local community. When I celebrated being at Liverpool for a decade recently, it meant a lot to hear some of the children who the Foundation has helped describe me as a Scouser.

I might not have won as many trophies as I would have liked during my time here but to have people talk about me in that way means as much as any medal. "

Says everything about the man.

You were a model professional, survived a torrent of abuse early on, earned the respect of all and proved to be a fantastic part of the team. All the best to you.

Believable13 Unbelievable0

18 Jul 2017 23:10:31
My view of the man, already sky high, has just gone up again.

18 Jul 2017 22:54:03
Lovely bloke, model professional and welcome at Anfield any time because of his efforts.

19 Jul 2017 02:03:47
Lucas is a gentleman with a big heart.
He is a father who can relate to kids,
He took his responsibilities to the foundation as as important as playing football.
you hear them kids calling him one of their own because you can't fool them.

Compare Lucas against superstars El Hadj Diouf and Super Mario Ballotelli.

There is only one of them with TRUE CLASS.

YNWA LUCAS.

18 Jul 2017 21:13:42
“When I first joined Liverpool 10 years ago, I had three main ambitions.

“First, I wanted to win a place in the team, which I managed to do. Next, I hoped to prove myself worthy of the shirt, an aim that others will be better placed than me to decide whether or not it was achieved.

“Finally, I looked ahead to the future with a hope that if and when the time came to leave this wonderful club I would do so on the best possible terms.

“That time has now come as I prepare for a new career at Lazio and while I am saddened that my days at Anfield are coming to an end, I can at least take comfort from the knowledge that my relationship with Liverpool and the supporters is stronger than ever. ”

Top bloke Lucas. YNWA.

18 Jul 2017 23:05:06
Must be Hendo? Then Studge and Couts?

18 Jul 2017 23:10:58
Hendo.

18 Jul 2017 23:12:59
Its hendo but don't know who is after him.

19 Jul 2017 01:05:03
I'm pretty sure it's coutinho after hendo.

19 Jul 2017 02:05:24
I hop I'm wrong but He mightn't be for long.

Hope you and you're family are happy in eternal city.

PS could you scout the Italian league for us. Cheers.

18 Jul 2017 22:19:15
Quite sad to see him go really. A top pro and a better person. Best of luck Lucas.

18 Jul 2017 20:01:38
PSG want to sign Coutinho so badly, they are going to pay nearly £200m for Neymar so he can be used to tap him up on international duty!

Believable9 Unbelievable4

18 Jul 2017 20:15:21
I have a feeling Barcelona losing Neymar could maybe make Barcelona make a push to sign Coutinho now?

18 Jul 2017 20:17:46
PSG buying Neymar is a good thing for us! They get Neymar, while Barcelona get the money to buy Verratti ( their first choice ) and Coutinho stays!

18 Jul 2017 20:21:15
Had me in stitches there, MK.

18 Jul 2017 20:38:59
FYI,

Barcelona's first choice target is MARCO VERRATTI.

18 Jul 2017 21:07:17
Cheers Naby! Seems you altered your incorrectly spelt name for us all too.

18 Jul 2017 21:12:15
@Welsh

Did you like Ding Dong?

18 Jul 2017 21:30:01
Brussels, I think sarcasm is dead in the modern world 😂.

18 Jul 2017 21:41:59
The Neymar transfer is gathering a lot of pace I can see that going through so that might mean the end to Couts.

18 Jul 2017 21:55:40
Neymar is going nowhere.

18 Jul 2017 22:24:01
As a front three I don't see them start Messi Suarez and one of the players they currently have. I think they will be buy big for a winger - I don't think they see couts as a winger though.
Find it odd they sell Neymar though, as he is going to improve and the other two decline, now would be the time to cash in.

18 Jul 2017 20:00:51
I find it amazing that so many are slating Robertson before he's even kicked a ball! Silly thing is a lot of them are the same people calling for TAA to replace Clyne on the right! Robertson is a full international who's had a full season in the premier league. TAA has virtually no experience at all yet you're willing to trust him at right back. Why not trust Robertson at left back until he gives you reasons not to? Ludicrous!

Believable11 Unbelievable2

18 Jul 2017 20:16:12
TAA is more than capable than replacing Clyne and believe we will see much more of TAA this coming season when it does not look like we will be signing a new fullback for the right side. Hell we may even see Milner move to right back.

18 Jul 2017 20:18:14
Totally agree, people just seem to want glamour signings like Mendy, Robertson has Premier League experience and is still young enough to improve. Maybe people should just trust that Klopp knows what he is doing!

18 Jul 2017 20:40:09
Mendy is not a glamourous signing. He is an extra offensive full back who is just excellent going forward!

18 Jul 2017 19:48:02
I thought I will held back my tears when Lucas leave. But I couldn't after reading his farewell note (god I m still crying its difficult to type) . Its painful to lost such a loyal servant of club. I just hope he will came back to club in some capacity after his retirement. Can't type anymore ;- (
YNWA Lucas.

Believable8 Unbelievable4

18 Jul 2017 20:16:27
I hope the club does the decent thing and gives him a testimonial in the near future.

18 Jul 2017 20:29:19
He had one last year.

18 Jul 2017 22:15:23
You can tell his heart is in the right place and he's leaving for genuine reasons. It feels like breaking up with a long term girlfriend when he says he wanted to stay for the rest of his career. All the best to the lad, if he gives Lazio what he gave us he will become a hero for them aswel.

18 Jul 2017 18:05:50
Hi Eds n Reds

If the reports are true that Neymar is joining PSG for a staggering £195m. I really hope Barcelona don't come looking for Couts

atlfc70.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

18 Jul 2017 18:58:31
Financial fair play working well I see 😂.

18 Jul 2017 19:20:38
If neymar goes to PSG for 195million that is me and football finished that is a joke of a sum.

18 Jul 2017 19:44:41
Jordi Mestre has stated it won't be happening.

With his quality he's going to be linked with every club under the sun who can afford him, great for these newspaper websites, they love getting the clicks. I seem to remember some months ago him even been linked with Utd, I doubt he'll ever leave Barca.

18 Jul 2017 19:50:27
Well it's 100% certain coutinho will be off. It will kick start transfers as we can secure vvd and keita with ease and fetch a tidy sum.

Losing coutinho will be devastating. He won't be replaced within the group. It will weaken us but it's going to happen. So let's all just get over It?

18 Jul 2017 19:32:55
If he has anything about him he won't go.

At least in La Liga he has Real and Atletico to compete against.

18 Jul 2017 19:52:08
Bit drastic! It's only money, said quickly it's fine! I am sure football will miss you though 😉.

18 Jul 2017 20:07:08
Supercan18, there's a huge chance Coutinho will go but it's not done yet mate, let's see what happens.

18 Jul 2017 22:44:19
Bit suspect don't you think.

Maybe the conspiracy in me haha.

We're linked with two 60 million pound players. Not one, two. Who macca has all but confirmed there very likely to happen. That will take our spending to 159 mil, plus 15 mil for robertson and solanke.

Nothiby is moving. Now psg are apparently getting neymar for 196 million and Barcelona will need a replacement for him.

Seems to me it's all already sorted.

There's no way were spending 150 mil and hoping to level that out with Moreno, sakho and Lucas sales.

18 Jul 2017 18:27:30

Evening Eds. Sky are reporting that Robertson has flown home from Hull's training camp to meet with representatives from Liverpool. Is this correct?

Thanks.

18 Jul 2017 17:22:19
Thanks Ed25.

18 Jul 2017 17:38:31
Haven't been this excited since we signed Klavan.

18 Jul 2017 19:47:27
I'd say your a bundle of joy Reaper.

18 Jul 2017 22:27:06
Surely he should have met with our reps before he flew out, something's gone wrong with this one.

18 Jul 2017 16:28:12
Klopp: "summer not just about buying players"

Think that says what we need to know guys. Was always going to be hard to land our top targets with clubs not willing to sell.

Hopefully the lads can kick on and improve again this year.

18 Jul 2017 16:40:01
I think you are reading a lot into a short phrase.

18 Jul 2017 16:56:58
Great to hear him say that 👏.

18 Jul 2017 17:06:12
Another negative comment from our fans. That's all I'm reading at the moment is fans moaning.

18 Jul 2017 17:07:00
This will have consequnces both on the pitch and inside the dressing room. He fell out with the Dortmund board for pretty much the same thing ( Not getting the players he wanted ) I hope we give Klopp no reason to walk out!

18 Jul 2017 17:07:25
Klopp: "goodbye".

Jesus, he's dying! Benitez back.

18 Jul 2017 17:13:46
That and he has a full summer witj a full squad minus and correct me if I'm wrong Emre Can.

18 Jul 2017 17:19:29
Klopp also said "Er".

I think he meant "err" as in 'to err is human' so his is accpeting mistakes have been made and apologised for and he has shown contrition and an acceptance of the fact we will never get the players we are after.

Don't you think?

18 Jul 2017 16:20:13
Was going to same the same thing. The full back is going to be special. Time to repair the damage with Fulham before he becomes available!

Believable1 Unbelievable2

18 Jul 2017 16:11:57
The club doesn't have the money to stump up for bothe Keita and VVD and will ask Klopp to consider alternatives.
There are no alternatives and that's been made clear by Klopp recently.

Believable1 Unbelievable14

18 Jul 2017 17:07:20
You must be an ITK on the Liverpool board then. Turn it in!

18 Jul 2017 17:20:03
Harry, when did you get the LFC FD's job?

Congrats, quite a step up from your last job ;)

18 Jul 2017 17:20:27
Their clubs don't want to sell.

18 Jul 2017 17:21:13
Is the op Harry? Seems to have ridiculously similar pessimism.

18 Jul 2017 16:06:43
Afternoon all,

So far this summer we have signed Salah and Solanke. Very happy with both signings, we needed someone with Salah's attributes, as we struggled without Mane last season. The prospect of both Salah and Mane at the same time is really exciting. Solanke has a lot of potential and will hopefully get some opportunities to impress.

It looks like Andrew Robertson is almost there. Firstly he is a proper left back so that can only be a good thing. He is naturally left footed and is decent going forward. There are question marks over him defensively but he is young and can only get better. Not a bad signing at all and potentially a bargain.

Very sad to see Lucas leaving as he has been a very loyal and hardworking player. He never had it easy and has taken some abuse over the years. Hopefully he will get the testimonial he deserves. However the timing was right for both the player and the club to go their separate ways.

Hopefully we can recoup some decent money on the sales of Moreno, Markovich and Sakho etc.

If we can get Naby Keita and Virgil Van Dijk then it will be a great summer and we will have a squad capable of challenging on all fronts.

I know it is frustrating for the fans when deals for the likes of Keita and Van Dijk drag on, but we have to be realistic these are top class players and their clubs are going to fight tooth and nail to keep them.

I am an optimist and still believe we will sign both of them and it may very well take the players having to put in transfer requests and us breaking our transfer record twice.

All in all things are looking positive we are back where we belong in the Champions League, have a top class manager and a young and talented squad.

18 Jul 2017 16:44:57

18 Jul 2017 16:51:21
Thanks captain obvious.

{Ed025's Note - dont be so miserable richie..

18 Jul 2017 17:23:54
Sometimes we forget that most fans see life as JJ has, realistic.

We get too caught up in our day to day bubble of extremes to be able to sit back and lucidly, and sensibly review progress.

An excellent read, JJ my friend. I agree with all of it :)

18 Jul 2017 17:24:03
Hahaha soz ed just so tired of people repeating the obvious and rehashing twitter posts like its fresh news, 'my sources say' what sources? Tiresome nonsense, titsquirrels everywhere.

{Ed025's Note - i think you should be a bit more positive thats all mate..

18 Jul 2017 18:01:14
But the OP is not doing that, Richie.

The way I read it, he's just giving his own personal view and assessment of the window.

Pretty much what the 'banter' section is for.

18 Jul 2017 16:49:12
Yeah because this day and age you would never hear about a club agreeing a deal with another club would you.

18 Jul 2017 14:19:00
Sounds like Sheyi Ojo has joined Fulham on loan. Unexpected, but that could be a decent move for him. Fulham are a top Championship side who could very well earn promotion this year. Not to mention, this could help smooth over the whole Dempsey tapping up fiasco. Maybe even go some way into helping us bring in Ryan Sessegnon next season.

Good move, I think. Hopefully Ojo impresses and can force Klopp into having a change of heart because I honestly don't believe our boss rates Ojo. Personally, I think Ojo will be worth the wait, as long as he puts his head down and works hard, and impresses in the Championship. We either get a new, improved winger next season. Or, a capable and impressive young star who can be sold for a decent amount of money. I'm hoping for the latter, but, if Klopp keeps buying attacking players I do not see a way through for him. Best to keep all options open in that case.

18 Jul 2017 14:26:42
We shouldn't be doing any business with Fulham 😡.

18 Jul 2017 14:26:54
Trying to sweeten Fulham up so we can sign sessegnon next summer?

18 Jul 2017 14:31:55
Well if Ojo is moving to Fulham then why can't a Sessengnon deal happen in this window, even if it means him staying there for the season. Makes sense to me.

18 Jul 2017 14:32:30
predicted yesterday in a thread about him 💁🏼‍♂️.

18 Jul 2017 14:42:45
Well done JEZZA! 👏👏

You win the "PutneyRed I told you so award for July 2017"

🏆🏆👍.

18 Jul 2017 14:46:20
Kiss and make up with Fulham Ron, good idea I think.

18 Jul 2017 14:54:49
I thought Fulham's initial response, whilst justified, was a bit childish. If they don't want to do business with us then we should respect that and tell them to go away.

18 Jul 2017 15:07:57
Agreed Ron, happy to do business when it suits them!

Baz.

18 Jul 2017 15:08:22
Ron, see I don't have to say it off you say it for me 😀.

18 Jul 2017 15:10:27
I agree with Ron! Why would they want to do a business with us if they don't want to sell their players to us? I would have send him to Rafa instead and play PL rather than U23 which is what Championship is. Stepping down the league for what PATCHING UP!

18 Jul 2017 16:24:14
Ok I get that fair point lad's.

18 Jul 2017 16:27:03
This is crazy. Fulham did nothing wrong and have every right not to sell their own players to us is if they wish. They own their registration and that is their right.

We (illegally) tapped up Clint Dempsey and were caught out. We are the club in the wrong, so we should be trying to put it right. The football world does not revolve around LFC, regardless of how popular we are.

18 Jul 2017 17:45:23
tbf we on the wrong on dempsey so maybe we should just be the bigger man (club) and improve our relationship and image?

its a good move for ojo so why not?

18 Jul 2017 19:20:00
Apot on Kaizer. Ron, I rarely disagree with you, but if we believe the move is good for Ojo, it can only be the mature thing to do to mend fences with Fulham. We gain nothing by mulishness. If this is the new CEO's doing then fair play to him, I say.

18 Jul 2017 14:06:16
Must say im a bit disappointed in the boys and klopp. Ignoring fans in hong kong not signing autographs barring studge and milner. Some of these fans could have been waiting years to see them just to be shunned. Terrible.

Believable6 Unbelievable7

18 Jul 2017 14:30:27
Looked like they were under strict instructions to get on the bus asap as you can tell by looking at the staff and players faces that they felt bad about the whole thing.

18 Jul 2017 14:32:58
There are official signings and meet and greets you know? All players do a bunch of that stuff.
They aren't obliged to do sign anything. Yet most go out of their way after training sessions and such meets which are officially designated for such stuff. And there also security concerns with regards to such stuff. They might probably have been instructed to ignore at that moment.

18 Jul 2017 14:56:37
i agree with your point but i don't think the video was from recently in terms of their trip to hong kong. lucas is getting on the bus a studge hasn't got short hair. not sure when it was filmed though.

18 Jul 2017 14:58:00
It was last year mate and they where clearly in a rush or something because they never do it any other time.

18 Jul 2017 14:59:02
I may be wrong but i think that happened in Liverpool, not Hong Kong. It looks bad wherever it happened, you can only assume they were under instruction, though it didn't stop Milly and Studge.

18 Jul 2017 17:48:55
They all did the same at Tranmere and Wigan this week. Overpaid and arrogant. Went the golf at Birkdale on Sunday and 99% of the golfers stopped for photos and signed anything put in front of them. As well as our teams of the 70's and 80's being great teams the players were also in the main great fellas who would be happy to share their time and sign autographs. This lot can learn a lot from much more successful sportsman than they will ever be but I doubt they will.

18 Jul 2017 13:47:09
Forest fans seem to think they have a chance of signing ings on loan. surely he wouldn't drop into the championship, and if he did wouldn't it be a decent team hed go to .?

Believable2 Unbelievable1

18 Jul 2017 15:11:35
Forest are a sleeping giant and have just been taken over if I remember rightly. They have just sold a forward so are on the look out for a replacement. I think Ings would flourish at Forest on a season loan with a big championship club, maybe help them take strides to were they belong.

Baz.

18 Jul 2017 15:28:14
I agree think it would be a great move for ings.

18 Jul 2017 15:44:25
With maybe dad being a forest fan, I told him I go should go to forest on loan next season to help build his confidence. Which would be beneficial for us as well as forest because they'd be getting a very good striker in ings. Would be more useful him playing in championship most weeks than playing for our u23's imo.

18 Jul 2017 16:44:43
I'd like to see Ings in a forest jersey, I'm Liverpool through and through but Nottm Forest are my birth place team.
He'd be the main man and i think it'll help him a lot.

{Ed025's Note - aiden mcgeady would be the main man in that forest team K9, they are awful and i would not wish that on danny mate..

18 Jul 2017 17:26:35
I think Forest could really kick on this year. Brit Assombolonga leaving was a bit of a loss due to his goals but I think DI will fit much better into Warbuton's playing style. Forest have a good manager in Warburton and some good rising stars to watch out for. Ben Brereton (FW) and Joe Worrall (CB) in particular. The new Panathinakos owners have already added a bit of back-of-house structure to the club (that was missing under Fawaz) and have endeared themselves well to the fans by reducing season ticket prices. Fans have responded by buying 17000 of them. I expect with Ings up top, Forest could really push on next season and challenge for a Top 6 place.

18 Jul 2017 13:44:02
Klopp's car analogy when talking about transfers needs tweaking. If the car owner does not want to sell you his car, you go to a car dealer and buy the same make, the same reg or ever newer. The problem arises when the car is a special edition and you can't find it somewhere else. In that case, you make them an offer they cannot refuse. Now, if Keita and Van Dijk are 'special edition' players, LFC has to break the bank for them.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

18 Jul 2017 14:05:07
Said from the beginning. Both deals won't happen. I get laughed at for it. Watch.

18 Jul 2017 14:23:13
I've said the same thing tea bags no chance with keita and vvd need to move on to other targets.

18 Jul 2017 14:36:03
I bet my life savings, that we get one of them, VVD, is the one that I think will go thru .

18 Jul 2017 14:53:58
How much have you saved?

18 Jul 2017 15:13:47
I'd prefer VVD. We need to sort out the defence more than an already stocked midfield. Plus I'd sooner we kept Couthino than possibilly lose him.

Baz.

18 Jul 2017 16:22:00
Redforever. How rich are you?

18 Jul 2017 23:13:53
An offer they can't refuse? Getting the submachine guns out would take our transfer dealings to a new low!

18 Jul 2017 13:42:44

Best of luck to the lad. Be good to have a Scottish lad in the team again.

Believable8 Unbelievable0

18 Jul 2017 14:06:15
Instagram is about as reliable as Twitter. BUT I do believe he's close to signing.

18 Jul 2017 14:22:07
Agreed!, but it's all over Instagram, seems believable. I'm not one for spreading rumours unless I truly believe there's truth. Hey atleast I'm not claiming to be ITK haha.

18 Jul 2017 14:39:19
Yes, it could be a lucky omen for us, I have a good feeling about this coming season, I like that with Salah and Roberstson, we will have two left footers in the side . it will give us a much better balance in the side .

18 Jul 2017 13:16:08
Must say I am loving the amount of press coverage Everton are getting at the moment. Everyone saying they can challenge for the top 4, Phil Neville saying they can "do a Spurs".

All of it will just be ramping up the pressure on them.

Don't get me wrong, they've made some good signings (and one awful one) but I don't see them as world beaters yet.

Believable8 Unbelievable0

18 Jul 2017 13:40:38
they could do a spurs re, the season they had after they sold bale, and we had when we sold suarez, none of there signings have me quaking in my boots, we shall see in 9 months time, also the pressure is on koeman now to deliver, after all he has been backed in the transfer market, now he has to show the owner what he is made off.

18 Jul 2017 13:40:52
How many of their signing would make a top 4 team? None. They've lost the guy who scored half their goals. I can see them finishing lower than last year.

18 Jul 2017 14:36:27
Everyone just gets over excited when a team goes out and buys loads of players. In reality it very rarely pays dividends. The better teams tend to stick with a nucleus and add a few quality additions. That's what Spurs have done over the past few seasons, Utd did it for years. Everton have bought players that are no better or in some cases worse than the players they already have and they've lost their best player. They could just as easily do a Newcastle than a Spurs in my opinion.

18 Jul 2017 14:48:30
ANnd who said they are done🤔.

18 Jul 2017 15:15:35
Koeman is a good manager. I hate to say it but I do think he will make the blue noses into a top four challenging team.

Baz.

18 Jul 2017 16:23:35
They probably will do a Spurs and by that I refer to when Spurs bought a bunch of highly rated players like Lamela and then they all turned out to be flops. That's the only Spurs they'll do.

18 Jul 2017 13:58:03
No offense to Ed025 or Everton, but imo Everton has just gone and repeated the mistakes we did in 2014 after selling Suarez. A lot of average to good players but not one true top class player to fill the void left by Suarez or in this case Lukaku. And no, I don't think Siggurdson will be that.

{Ed025's Note - time will tell reet but now at least koeman has his own side and not martinez,s cast off,s, i happen to think we have signed a bit of quality in the spine with pickford, keane, klassen and sandro not to mention who else might join the revolution, with suarez you never bought like for like and that was a big mistake in my opinion mate..

18 Jul 2017 16:51:44
Agreed Baz, who'd of thought LCFC would win the league with Huth and Morgan.
That's the beauty of the EPL, no one knows what's exactly going to happen.
La Liga Barcelona/ Madrid
Bundesliga Bayern/ Dortmund (minus this year)
Etc etc
EPL is definitely entertaining and no one for sure can say that a certain team can storm it.
I genuinely thought City were going to walk away with the league last season, extremely surprised that it was Chelsea (only because of the year before)

Either way I'm throughally excited about the upcoming season.
With or without our signings, if we manage to keep hold of couts and reports on Robertson I'd be okay.
Don't forget we've had a whole season with the same team. Other times have to interrogate new players, in Evertons case. Quite a few.

Y. n. w. a.

{Ed025's Note - when we interrogate our players we say..."ve haf vays of making you vin da league" K9.. :)

18 Jul 2017 17:53:47
Well the way Klopp is moving, it wouldn't surprise me.
But that was a tired autocorrection mistake 😂🙈.

19 Jul 2017 02:17:28
Why do people say Koeman has serious financial backing from the board? Based on just quoted trasfer fees in the press, they have a net spend less than LFC so far. I agree that when you sell the star player, like Suarez/ Bale/ Lukaku, there will be a period of difficulty maybe.

18 Jul 2017 12:52:29
Man City have reportedly bid around £3m-£4.5m for Pepe Reina. It be nice to see him back in the league.
For me it still ranks as one of the worse sales we have ever committed to in the premier league era, never should have left us. Would people have taken him back now considering our goalkeeping options, his age and the price.

Believable3 Unbelievable7

18 Jul 2017 13:00:34
Yeah I would've taken him back. We would be one step closer to fielding a whole team of goalkeepers then.

18 Jul 2017 13:13:08
I didn't want to see him leave either but he burnt his bridge. He thought he was nailed on for Barcelona and then he tries to grovel back. that's why we sold him.

18 Jul 2017 13:20:09
His form had dropped massively when we sold him.

18 Jul 2017 13:25:48
He is still a good keeper! It's a great move by City!

18 Jul 2017 13:42:17
why would he want to be a understudy, he didn't like not playing when he was number 2 at Bayern munich.

18 Jul 2017 11:25:26
"They say 'Find another car in a different colour, ' but you say 'Thank you, but I want this', " he began.

"You see the car you've been dreaming of all your life, you say 'Here's the money', but they tell you 'I do not want to sell the car. '" You say 'But I have the money! ', But they say 'I do not want to sell'. "

Klopp

We know what the car is 😄.

18 Jul 2017 12:48:09
Why are we spending money on Cars when we need a Left Back?

18 Jul 2017 13:13:52
No ron don't start the honda rumours again. We had about 5 transfer windows with that rumour.

18 Jul 2017 14:00:20

18 Jul 2017 14:08:52
Eds is there any truth to the Honda rumour? :)

18 Jul 2017 14:40:27
We want a Ferrari and a Lambourghini but we'll probably end up just getting the bus again, its cheaper.

I think it would be a fiat, unreliable, unwanted and prone to breaking down.

I accidentally bought a Thai Bride!

She won't leave my house now. My partner was livid when she found out, but when she realised she didn't have to cook dinner anymore, she was pretty accepting of the situation. Another reason to thank this site!

Hmmmm, you've given me a bit of an existential crisis there Ron 😓.

18 Jul 2017 13:11:13

18 Jul 2017 08:58:44

Believable12 Unbelievable3

18 Jul 2017 10:10:13
The majority will give the lad a chance.
Imagine Rob Jones would have got the same treatment if he'd been around these days.
Some will be waiting for his first mistake to say they told us so.

18 Jul 2017 10:22:13
Always like your posts Ron but this guy actually played in the premier league and when I saw him with my own eyes, he offered nothing. Couldn't cross, wayward passing and often out of position. Sorry but no I don't rate him.

18 Jul 2017 10:41:18
Some people work better in different environments.
Hull City were a bit of a mess last year. Turmoil with owners, change of managers, not enough players for a squad at beginning of season.
It's a different story st LFC. Klopp will put his arm round him, the coaches will work with him.
No-one expects the finished article for £8m these days. Give the lad a chance is all we're asking - should he sign.

18 Jul 2017 10:49:51
A LB all day over a Midfielder. No my personal or first choice but I would play him over someone who cannot cross!

18 Jul 2017 11:11:07
10 million for a 23yo left back Scottish international had a decent season last year, don't no if it's just me but a bloody bargain if I do say so myself.

18 Jul 2017 12:28:34
anyone claiming to have seen enough of robertson to make a judgement are fibbing.

hand on heart to all the bashers - how many 90 minute games of hull did you watch last year?

18 Jul 2017 14:31:37
Yeah and if leon Britton changed his name to brittonio he could be instead of keita?

Because that's the level of fans. They only think a player is a poor player because of his name and not the 3 years he's had in and around the premier, destroyed by people like zaha. No no it's his name. good one lad. That's why everyone is exciting by solanke, wants Trent in the team, wants flanno back. majority love Henderson.

Keep up the good work sport :)

18 Jul 2017 18:05:51

18 Jul 2017 10:05:03
Similar thing happened with my friend who is a close friend to Van Dijk, he was with VVD in a shop in southampton when a child tripped over, VVD helped him up laughing and apparently said to the childs mother after she thanked him "no problem, also im going to liverpool, deffo, i proper promise"

18 Jul 2017 10:12:42
Are Heinz somehow affiliated with Red Bull?

18 Jul 2017 10:18:11
That's nothing.

I was in the New Forest recently camping. I came across a little Shetland pony or 3 along the way.

Unfortunately though ever time I fed them a sugar lump and asked them if VVD would be staying in the area or moving up North, yes the answer to my question "will he be staying" they replied "Neigh! "

Spooky - forgone conclusion right?

18 Jul 2017 07:20:37
Hi ED1, How are you doing? Would you happy if we add only Robertson to Solanki and Salah? Could we compete in CL and EPL with the current squad?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - happy is a subjective term and football has long since stopped affecting my mood in that respect. Yes we could compete, we showed last season we can compete with anyone, it is just about keeping the team at its best regularly.}

18 Jul 2017 07:35:36
No we couldn't, hence Klopp is after two more players and he isn't going to settle for the second or third choice! By that logic Chelsea wouldn't need to add any players as they walked away with the league last season!

18 Jul 2017 08:37:38
NKDD. Last season we showed we were more than capable of competing against the big teams which is why we finished with the best head to head against the top 6.

18 Jul 2017 08:40:54
Sorry to disagree Naby, but football really doesn't work that way, Chelsea won the league with more or less the same side that finished 10th the previous season?

We have shown how good the current team can be and with the experience and togetherness from last season there is no reason it cannot improve on last year without additions. Of course the additions mentioned would be great and welcome to fille in areas we were found lacking.

If you’ve played football you will know the more you play together and learn together the better you will be understanding each other etc. which would only improve you as team.

18 Jul 2017 09:12:49
I might be wrong here. We scrapped the barel by a single point of Arsenal and fell 15 points off from the top of the cliff! This team simply couldn't, Hence we finished 4th and not 1st or 2nd.
Best head to head against top 6 is of no relevance. A league is spread over 38 games and not mere 6 games! If anything you have learned that we were terrible against teams who sat back and defended deep!
There is a reason Klopp is adamant as a rock on Keita and VVD! And that reason tells you why!

Oh you are wrong. Chelsea added a world class CM ( who won the player of the year award ), A WB who scored or assisted more than any other, and a CB, They did not go in the season unchanged!

Ngolo Kante won them te league on his own!

18 Jul 2017 09:24:25
Leicester City?!

18 Jul 2017 09:40:21
Is NKDD Harry with a new name AGAIN?

18 Jul 2017 09:42:00

18 Jul 2017 10:13:22
Yeah it's "Navy Keith" 😁.

18 Jul 2017 06:13:07
This may go down like a brick in a swimming pool but I don't understand the hype around Van Dyke and I honestly don't believe he's worth 70 mil, but I suppose that's the price you've got to pay when you've got Chinese teams paying a bomb for average players and inflating the prices of everyone.

Believable6 Unbelievable11

18 Jul 2017 06:24:06

Change the record mate, bored of that line now! .

Move on

VVD and Keita will sign, fans just getting impatient now.

18 Jul 2017 07:25:32
He is right, Had we conducted things in a proper manner, VVD would be with us already!

I don't think the amounts being handed over has anything to do with China, more down to the ridiculous TV deals, which I think are a recipe for disaster and one day will come back to bite the premier league in the ass.

£50m for John Stones 12 months ago.

£70m for VVD seems like a bargain by comparison.

£50 mill for Ke Walker! I would happily pay above for VVD!

if I buy something, anything, I cannot actually truthfully tell you if it is a bargain until the goods have been consumed/ used etc?!

Many clubs have examples of apparent bargains that were far less than that. Stone, thus far, is a prime example.

With footballers it is not so much about the individual but more about the team, their ability to work together, etc. I will widen that to Squad rather than Team. Yes you have to have decent individual quality but it goes without saying that if those individual qualities do not gel together then things go bad.

What I saw last year - actually since Klopp came in - is a team that were starting to gel well together. There is an argument therefore that too many additions and/ or not the right ones from a team player mentality perspective could actually worsen the position of last year even I feel seen as major individual qualities.

Spurs also seem to have a manager capable of getting the best out of individuals in a team/ squad scenario - they have not dipped into the transfer market much - actually they got a great deal, and ott price for a sale to City, but I bet they compete.

All summed up we will compete I've no doubt but there are 6 very decent teams there now - with a few that will compete well as a group of next level. Remain strong to be seen which manager rallies his squad the best and has the man management skills to get them to #1.

My thoughts exactly Ron/ NKDD.

......................Eds always swerve this point so won't get posted again.

{Ed002's Note - It doesn't guet "swerved", it is something that is laughable as you don't know what it was about. Please share with me the names of the other two people who attended - and particularly what they do for a living and who employs them. Idiot.}

OP is correct in my opinion. I rate VVD but not as much as 70m. I'd rather see more of young Gomez.

I have a little request. Could we try to get through this silly season without insulting our players?

Let's see if we can go the whole of the transfer window without calling LFC players 'deadwood', or grumbling about FSG and their 'lack' of financial support.

And 10 bonus points to all who can avoid asking a question that has already been answered 3 times that hour.

We are not linked with any other players than those three! I am afraid you ll have to pass the whole window mum!

Oh it's a laugh a minute. Come on the silly silly remarks that people make keeps us entertained. We all really know that pretty much everyone on this site, if they were better qualified, informed, able than the guys making decisions at the helm in team affairs then they'd be earning their pennies doing so. I love my club and will support to the end and enjoy this site but take with a pinch of salt all that is said on it.

What can be done about such a short off-season in football now?

Throw a party we don't have to wait too long before it comes back! The poor pampered princes can't even work a full year without a couple of months break on top of their part time hours and having literally everything done for them all while they're earning so much no normal person could actually contemplate it. How would you blow a weeks wage if next week you had another 150k coming in?

Question for Ed one if I may please.
When I was about 14/ 15 so quite some time ago, I remember it being reported that we were bang on to sign Damien Duff (he was at Blackburn then) .
Was this ever a transfer? and if so any idea why it didn't happen.
Appreciate it was a while back, or even that it wasn't actually true. Just curious.
Thanks in advance.

{Ed001's Note - we were interested but not at the price and would not go near the wages he was offered elsewhere.}

His surname was very apt though - so good job really!
