I was at the Nottingham Forest v Derby game today as my dad is a forest fan and payed close attention to Ben Brereton and I have to say. WOW! For his age he is some player. Would definitely like to see us sign him, would be pricey but in the long term would definitely be a good signing for us! The lad has pace, good feet, strong, tall and a good shot! Hope we can sign him!

Question for one of the Eds: do we hold any significant interest in Brereton?

{Ed002's Note - Try the Sharkopod.}

18 Mar 2017 17:57:48
Curtis jones looks like the next big thing coming from the u18s.

Not seen a lot of the U18's lately but McAuley and Dhanda are earning rave reviews.

18 Mar 2017 22:44:27
McAuley is good dhanda has stagnated. Curtis jones looks a player.

18 Mar 2017 17:20:31
So after the Ed2 Sharkopod anyone else worried that we probably won't be looking at new CBs?

Matip has been pretty good in his first season and will hopefully improve more but is a good CB, however there's a slight concern with injuries so really good cover needed.

Lovren is not up to the week n week out rigours of a title chasing team which is what Klopp has said he is here to achieve but could be a reasonable good third choice.

Klavan is also not good enough and although he is a Klopp purchase I wonder does the manager feel this wasn't a great buy.
Gomez we all wish will be great but has barely played in a PL match so is completely untested and an unknown quantity so I see him as fourth choice but hopefully will take Lovren place as third then maybe into starting CB but there are no guarantees of this.

But what I believe we miss most in our CBs is a true leader who owns the defense, is vocal and drives the players around him on.
We also miss a CB who is a goal threat on set pieces, an aggressive guy who attacks the ball on set pieces.

So I think we need a top CB to come in as what we have has seen us ship so many poor goals this season and it seems a poor decision to go into another season with the same guys.

Would rather have Klavan starting then having Skrtel in the squad.

18 Mar 2017 17:49:45
It worries me slightly, however I think our centre backs are left massively exposed by Clyne and Milner. They are both average defensively, both just charge forward without thinking about it, and both give the ball away far too often. It results in constant bombardments of long ball counter attack's, and crosses from wide areas.

People always blame our midfielders, but most goals we concede are either set pieces or hoof ball counter attack's from our play breaking down, usually at the fault of Clyne or Milner; they will either have made the wrong run or just misplaced a pass at least 10 times each every game. When teams break at us with passing or someone running more often than not Hendo and Gini mop it up.

I am hoping Arnold will start to play far more often next season though. He will be 19 which is the perfect age to break through. Then hopefully we sign a left back. I think that alone will take so much pressure off our centre backs and goal keeper. We do need to improve at set pieces but that is something we should be able to improve on the training ground though. Matip, Lovren and Klavan are all big guys who should be far more dominating in their own box than they currently are.

18 Mar 2017 18:53:22
I'm more than confident that a centre back will be brought in to partner Matip. Klavan and Lovren aren't good enough for where we want to go. Also I hope both Clyne and Milner are replaced as well, both extremely limited. Trent to replace Clyne, sessongnon and perreira both brought too.

18 Mar 2017 20:24:32
I really hope Sakho can be forgiven and make his way back into the team. Him and Matip would be quite a pair.

{Ed002's Note - It is not going to happen Eric. Klopp doesn't want him.}

18 Mar 2017 22:23:12
for me we have to go all out for toulouse cb issa diop guy is a beast an only geting better.

{Ed002's Note - But Liverpool has zero interest in him.}

19 Mar 2017 12:09:29
I don't wish any ill on our manager but quite simply, he either fixes the team and our defensive issues, or will eventually get sacked. At this point i've lost all hope of any football manager doing anything that makes sense.

18 Mar 2017 15:23:29
Could one of the Eds put the Sakho situation to bed? What happened that resulted in him being completely disregarded for the first team?

{Ed002's Note - Klopp.}

18 Mar 2017 15:35:17
He ran over Klopp's cat.

18 Mar 2017 19:10:47
And then reversed back over it.

19 Mar 2017 08:04:41
Replace cat with Kebab, and you're a bit closer to the truth.

18 Mar 2017 14:50:06
I think liverpool will move for Paulo dybala in the summer if ucl place is achieved.

18 Mar 2017 15:03:57
I think you're crazy, we wouldn't be able to afford him. And the way he's performing it's not long before Barcelona and Madrid look to pick him up.

18 Mar 2017 16:35:27
Madrid already looking with a view to a move this summer - sad to say we have no chance.

19 Mar 2017 01:29:14
It might be crazy but Madrid are not after him. Its Barcelona and Barcelona can't afford him except if they can sell some. Players. beside I tired of lfc chasing players like pulisic, anderson and the rest. At least a good signing and a Dmf like toure and maybe Brandt of Hector would make sense. because all the little players we buy they end up on loan and at last we sell them for petty price.

19 Mar 2017 01:29:37
Thanks for you opinions guys!

19 Mar 2017 03:00:01
Moe who told you Madrid aren't looking at Dybala?
He is their main target in attack.

18 Mar 2017 14:06:04
As usual Ed02 is correct in his prediction. Claimed 2-1 to West brom 😄.

Close.

18 Mar 2017 15:05:37
Harry's new name.

18 Mar 2017 15:51:21
Lovely nose dive anyway. 9.5/ 10. But most important, as said before- takes the pressure right out of our game tomorrow. Think both teams will be happy with a draw. 1-1 is my bet.

18 Mar 2017 18:34:47
Not Harry. Harry only ever refers to Ed002 as 'the boss'.

{Ed033's Note - My name is Lorenzo Insigne is the latest Harry alter ego.

18 Mar 2017 23:56:22
Adam, he refers to Ed001 as 'boss' not Ed002. He calls Ed002 another name, but only in private.

18 Mar 2017 14:04:52
Arsenal just taken the pressure right off the city game for us, even a draw would be good. Imagine we win though we would put a massive gap between them and us.

18 Mar 2017 12:54:52
If only we could of managed to convince Sanchez to have signed for us, who knows where we could if been by now. Not slating our current players but seeing him in the lfc teamsheet would be awesome.

£40,000,001 bid maybe?

Would like to hear edd 002's views or anyone else's opinions on ......

{Ed002's Note - You need to ask on the European pages - this is the Liverpool page.}

18 Mar 2017 09:51:39
Dont know if this has already been asked but does anyone know if the Mancs win the Europa league they will automatically qualify for the CL, is this at the expense of the 4th Place Premier League spot or an extra spot for the English teams? My recurring nightmare is we scrape through into 4th spot just to see the Mancs pinch it off us through the Europa League. oh god Im sweating at the thought again.

18 Mar 2017 10:04:54
Only if Leicester also win the Champions League.

18 Mar 2017 10:16:24
Thanks for that, Leicester won't win that so we should be ok, just like I predicted Leicester wouldn't win the league. oh dear here we go again!

18 Mar 2017 10:36:03
We should be aiming for 3rd/ 2nd and let some other team worry about that conundrum. Smack city about tomorrow. Get those 3 points on them and unleash the red juggurnaut for the remaining games.

Come on red men.

YNWA.

18 Mar 2017 14:58:56
We should be aiming to win the league, it's not over yet.

18 Mar 2017 15:32:05
Excellent Ron - This is for your eternal optimism.

Cheers.

18 Mar 2017 16:06:46
If both UTD and Leicester wins the EL and CL respectively then the team finishing 4th slips to EL next season. UTD have a good chance to get into the group stages if CL next season if they win the EL.

Hoping Firmino is fit to start. Pivotal player for us, especially in a big game vs City.

Wonder if Klopp will bring back Lovren into the starting eleven?
