Rogers is going to try and bring in Bolton's Sordell. You all know about FSG's funding and so we are having to look at less expensive options.

MAITE

Borini, yesil, morgan & ngoo are better than him why would he come here to sit on the reserve team bench?

Would prefer to wait for borini to get fit again and promote either yesil / Morgan/ ngoo than spend money to get sordel.

If Borini was to play at CF, where he's suited. He'd be great.

18 Nov 2012 23:10:10
Word on the grapevine is Henderson and Downing out to raise funds to bring Walcott, Huntelaar and Wanyama in. Rogers wants cover for Lucas and to add both strikers to the roster as is worried about continued interest in Suarez from Juventus.

Pajarorojo

Do not see wanyama coming to a team playing Europa league just to be a squad player. Henderson is under 21 captain and him and shelvey are a central partnership for club and country in the making. He's a good squad player, but if we do get wanyama then I would let henderson go. Downing, cole and doni I see leaving in jan. one maybe two forwards in jan

Hi ED'S would Shane Long be a player we would be interested in ?

Keep up the great work {Ed002's Note - I really don't know of any interest.}

As an Irish red I would be very happy to see long in a red shirt. I think he has the pace power and all round ability to be a top player and would not cost the world!

I agree, i think Shane not so Long (It's what we call him in my house) lovingly. As my Dad loves him and is a Cork man. So, i try and watch the Ireland games with him and i'm quite fond of Long, not just for his ratio of goals, but his work ethic and his attitude. Long, Borini and Suarez would be an excellent front line to call on.

Shane Long can out jump Michael Jordan, Suarez can twist any defender over 90 mins given the ball enough and Borini the forgotten man, has seriously great timing when running into the box much like Maxi did.

All three are tireless and would most importantly be a step forward as compared to the much typed and talked about Torres for a popular example in my opinion being an expensive step backwards.

19 Nov 2012 19:32:46
I always considered Long a bit of a headless chicken. Reasonably quick and reasonably good in the air, but no real nous. Didn't think he'd make the step up from the Championship, tbh.

But his all round play's looking really good of late. He holds the ball up well, brings team mates into play and can pick decent passes & crosses. Dunno if it's genuine improvement or just a purple patch though.

If it is the former, he'd be a good signing.

A mate who has moved a few footballers in and out of liverpool over the last ten years, thinks joe cole is moving back to london, poss west ham, in jan

I think it's best for him, he's not been able to grab any form at Liverpool, putting back in his happy place (London) might give him a chance to have an Indian summer to his career.

I think it would be great for him to go back to WestHam, he's still loved by many and will thrive on hearing his name being chanted. I think Cole is one of those players who needs cuddling from his manager to make him feel wanted and confident in his own abilities. :)

Big Sam will drill him for the old Bolton special Stellios Giannakopulous mould and role, and why not.

I've got a mate, Ron Obvious his name is, he said the same thing.

hi eds and all,
the lads did very well yesterday we broke our voodoo with the wigan team, and we do look more composed and the way up. The good thing is I think there is lots of room for improvement and the team is young.
Enrique is always improving , Suarez is amazing, and everyone is jealous because we have him.
I really do not think we should go for Sturridge, he is not good, and Torres is shocking so please stop mentioning these two.
Good days are still to come, patience and hard work, and please do sing more at Anfield we are famous for the 12th man. Eds what is your take? thankyou
hibsylfc

18 Nov 2012 22:13:47
Wahey! We've got a left winger. I think Enrique could be our Gareth Bale. Well, more Dossena.
I'm only joking, of course, but he looked much better there than at left back. I think he can do a job- short term- with his pace and power. He's not the long term answer but it's another option, which we are very short of, at the moment.
It was good to see Henderson getting a run, too. He isn't top class, but he gives us mobility, which our other central midfielders don't.
We looked to have a bit more presence with those two playing, yesterday, and it suited us. We're not blessed with loads of technical players, so we do need to compete physically.
It was an improvement, for me.
Rigsby.

I thought Sterling has done well out from the wide positions whether left or right and to be fair Downing has played some all right football and caused a few goals when he's played. I'd like to see Assadi a bit more as i've not got a chance to see him on the ball much so far.

Enrique looks to be confident and out to prove his worth, maybe the manager had a word and woke him up a touch? The best form of defence is offence, scoring and creating an assist will do it.

Henderson looked a bit sharper when he came on the other day for Suso, if we can get him to turn the corner and recapture some of the form befor we signed him that got him an England call up, then we'll have a really good player on our hands.

18 Nov 2012 22:03:10
Right either Fsg are lieing to Brendan about keeping Suarez.Or as i suspect their is a media driven campaign to drive Suarez away from Lfc.Again today'their'at it.This time its Juventus.Ffs weve said hes not for sale!
___________________________________

Mate Juventus are serious about suarez and have already talked 2/3 times with Pere guardiola. We all agree we should be run as business then why complain. I believe if we get 40/50M for him then he will be sold. When owners took liverpool they always sayed their vision is like arsenal buying young players when time is right selling them for huge profits at the same time developing youngsters. Any money we get from players sale will be reinvested back in the club

For us to replace with a player with the same quality it would cost 35 mill. Our aim is chanpions league and we wont get there without world class players like suarez

Only way he'll be sold is if you doubke that figure, because he is in the same world class bracket as ronaldo and falcao simple

19 Nov 2012 00:34:56
Mate will be very difficult to hold on our few world class players or buy world class players.

World class players want wages or champions league neither we can offer.

Fans call Torres JUDAS but forget he gave everything to Liverpool when he played for us but we failed to mach his ambition. Fans verdict JUDAS

Owen left liverpool for Madrid but gave everything again we failed to mach his ambition fans verdict JUDAS

Robbie fowller one of the best strikers in premier league era but we hold him back and didn't win any major trophy but when we got ownen forced him out of liverpool fc

Gerrad one of the best players of his generation again we hold him back if there is one players who deserves league title is non other then our own captain fans verdict slate him every week

If Suarez leaves Fans verdict will be Judas

I can go on till 2morrow oh I forgot carragher another legend deserves league titles again fans verdict slate him week and week out

Players who leave us for trophys are called JUDAS and players who have sacrificed for us they are being slated week and week out by our own fans.

If Gerrard and carragher retire without league title then that should be shame for Liverpool FC and Fans who have Slated these players week and week out

Any idiot that thinks sensible business men and a professional football manager would sell Suarez from the current Liverpool squad, even for a 25m profit is just plain and simply insane. He is our only Striker at the moment. Worst case scenario, we buy a proper striker in Jan and he beds in and is a big success. And Then Borini gets fit again and actually starts scoring. And then, at the end of the season Suarez says he wants to leave. Then, and only then, is there a long shot chance that FSG and Rodgers would be willing to sell him. But we'd still probably try and keep him another year at least before selling for a profit. He is still only 25. He is our sole chance at making top 4 this year and it makes zero financial sense to sell him before we are in a position to replace him.

SpudRed

Suarez is enjoying his football at Liverpool.
He's proving all the doubters wrong including old whisky nose down the other end of the M62. He wanted to cause mayhem and Suarez to scurry off out of the prem and away from LFC. Wonder why? Well he's not getting his wish; as Suarez has something about him and has stayed with us to ram all the rubbish served up to him over the last 12 months down their throats with his goals and performances.
kidmillions

Torres one a CL but he sat on the bench and said it himself that it was like he didnt win it because he had little involvement

Owen left Liverpool but if he stayed he wouldve won the chanpions league along with gerrard and carra which is THE biggest club trophy

Gerrard couldve of left but he chose not to and torres knows he made a mistake leaving he may have a couple medals but one thing he'll never have is the love and admiration that Steven Gerrard, Carra, King Kenny etc etc have

If u love the club like torres said he dos then he should stay and fight to win things with the club he "loves" u think agger, skrtel, johnson, reina, luca leiva and co would waste their time if they thiught we wasnt heading in the right direction?

The club spent 100 million on players, lack of ambition? LOL olay not evey player turned out but that shows amibition

If torres left for atletico madrid or another foreign team it wouldnt have been as bad but to leave for a plastic club and one that competes for a top 4 and help make them stronger and us weaker is slapping us in the face,

Yea he got a winners medal but at wht cost?

I think his moping face verytime he's on the pitch tells u

He even said himself in an interview that he didnt even feel like playing and hoped the manager didnt tell him to come on as a sub

Stevy G, Carra and co have more respect and admiration than sell puts like torres and RVP will EVER have

Me? Id pick eing a liverpool legend over a title any day because i say i love the club and mean it

I can sit on man city and chelsea benches, contribute nothing and let the rest of the team win me medals just like he did in the world cup with spain

He lost something more important than 1 flipping title he lost everything that made him El Nino

Wasnt difficult for skrtel, agger and suarez to commit to the club when they couldve gone in the summer

18 Nov 2012 21:58:17
Hi eds
On player profile pages u say diamiao chance came and gone in the summer and that it was just down to wages could u please tells us all is that for definite and what would his wages be please.

Thanks

Greetings Eds & All,

Really happy with picking up the points yesterday ,looks like we are getting used to defending in this new system .Looking back at this season so far it has been the case that we simply have not managed to shut teams out due to mistakes etc.Generally we have had good possession and made chances so lets get a goalscorer in not another attacking mid

I believe that people should not get their hopes up for this transfer window and then turn on FSG . I think we will add depth to the squad rather than sign a massive player . We need cover up front and more striking options .

I also want to sat with regards to the Torres rumours that they are no more ridiculous than some of the others that people keep posting about 20 mil plus players.

He was awesome for us and we did well out of his sale as he was a shadow of his former self with questions over his fitness , but lets move on and look forward.

kobi

Not sign anyone.Dont blame Fsg-do you realise why weve struggled? Do you recall last Transfer window?

18 Nov 2012 21:51:05
Happy Birthday Suso for tomorrow! Got a great future ahead of him.

18 Nov 2012 21:50:15
"The reality is that there was always going to be a bit of movement this season with the club trying to regain some of their money" If FSG couldn't afford to run a football club why did they buy one?

Explain?

They saved us from administration end of be greatful. Give Kenny a massive transfer kitty seen the club spend well waste an absolute fortune on rubbishe. Lost 40-50 mil last year they've struck up some great sponsor deals so they probably do want to that Loss gradually get smaller then when they see that I believe they will back Rodgers more but will never ever be massive transfer kitty's u really have to listen to what the owners say and Rodgers

Look at what Tom Werner has to say about the January transfer window very interesting words indeed

18 Nov 2012 23:55:53
Nope they didn't saved us. They even sayed they didn't know anything about liverpool fc or liverpool city but were told by liverpool fan who works at red sox that the club was being sold massively cheap and as bussiness people they saw massively pontential to make big bucks. In short they are trying cheaply to make money. In near their 3 years they have just spend 60/65M(net spend) in transfer market which is not good for club like Liverpool Fc size. 50M lose which your pointing is coz owners decided to scrap stanely park project if they had decided to continue and build new stadium then 50M lose wouldn't happen. If we want to compete in highest level then we need atleast to buy 2 class players if not then I'm afraid coz will be difficult to hold on players like Suarez or even some of our younger players.

They bought us for £100 million pounds less then what we were valued at. You think FSG did that to ''save us''? I think that is totally naive.

FSG are a group of business men that want to own global sports names and brands. Racing, Baseball, Football and so on, but that doesn't for one moment suggest we should back off, ''end of.''

Because they stepped in and a got deal on the club, doesn't mean they can't be held to account when they make mistakes like appointing Comolli and giving him the next three seasons transfer budget in one go.

18 Nov 2012 21:50:08
Just had a quick look at the fixtures over the Christmas period, Everton-Newcastle and spurs have quite a difficult run, apart from the spurs game ours ain't that bad, a good run should see us move up the table.
Lets hope it's a merry Xmas!

Fixtures can look easy on paper. Great thing about football it's unpredictable. We scored 5 at Norwich the mancs got beat 1-0 and never even looked like scoring.

Hey Eds,
I wasn't sure if you allow any links to be posted so I am just going to mention this website, not sure on its reliability but Liverpool Kop are reporting that we have a decent chance of signing Cavani. It is extremely wishful thinking and to call it highly unlikely is a massive understatement but I'd just like your views on their reliability for speculation and if we have even a 5% chance of getting him.

Thanks,

Irish Redman {Ed002's Note - Not even close to 5%.}

So Ed's your saying tre is a chance then :-)

No they are not. They are quoting Cavani's agent speaking to a south american newspaper.

The Irish Rover {Ed002's Note - Which he didn't do. It is BS.}

And what about Liverpool Kop Ed002? Is it in any way reliable?

Irish Redman {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what that is. The story is BS.}

Hi Eds,

Would you think that a player like Marcus Berg from Hamburg is someone Liverpool could try to sign? I am asking in terms of his market value, expected wages & willingness of home team to sell? I'm not asking if Liverpool are showing interest in him, this is pure speculation on my behalf on the type of player we may be looking at. Cheers

ForzaRed {Ed002's Note - If Liverpool has no interest in him then I cannot help you, sorry.}

18 Nov 2012 20:55:50
Not that I am happy with the way Torres left the club but if we had the chance to resign him at a bargain price then why not ? He is a class striker and was just bout finding his form before he left us, I am sure BR would get the best out of him and him and Suarez would of been lethal and can still be.
The flak we hav been giving him was deserved at the time but now nearly two years on who got the best part of the deal? Time to give it a rest and think of te benefits he could bring again.

We say YNWA a lot on here and I still believe Torres loves LFC and knows he made a big mistake.

18 Nov 2012 21:16:36
JUST. STOP. IT! He's not coming back, he's not the player he was, we got the best of him, and then got a lot of money for him. There are better, cheaper strikers out there.

Poor eds must get so bored of this carp!

Boooorrrrrrrrring!

The Irish Rover

No, they will not be able to work together, Torres is a very off the shoulder forward while Suarez is a confrontational taking players on sort of player, Gerrard used to play through balls into Torres to run on to, while he plays it to Suarez who then beats his man now. It would be a completely unfunctional pairing

I agree with you hole heartedly. People make mistakes all the time. It only becomes an issue when people don't learn from them. Everyone deserves a second chance.

Always the un-named who write the most backward-looking negative BS. Bet they still wear deely-boppers.

cozinoz

We can not go on with only one forward and think we can only pass to suarez .what is going to happen when suarez gets his next yellow or even red card. torres is clever enough to fit in with lfc , he has too many issues at chelsea.

Hi Eds

Any news on the sterling contract talks? Are they even negotiating or waiting till his birthday? And any idea what sterlings demands around wages are? Not sure if you know anything I was just wondering any news would be greatly appreciated. {Ed002's Note - There is nothing to report.}

18 Nov 2012 20:01:00

Hope Anne Williams gets her 100000 people to sign e-petition. Put info on my Scottish team rangers website. Hope my fellow bears respond and get numbers up. Justice for the 96. I for one hope if that person had time to slag me, he had time to sign petition.

18 Nov 2012 19:21:35
I don't understand the interest in Huntelaar, did we not want to pay 6M for a player of similar age who scored 20 goals last season proven in the premiership?

And he struggle's against decent teams and couldn't make it in la liga a less competitive league then the premiership.

We need goals but is getting somebody like that really going to help us in Jan? I would rather have Walcott or even Sturridge.

Thanks!

You were bang on until Sturridge, he's a complete waste of talent. A lazy, greedy excuse for a footballer.

Papa G

Huntelaar is one off the best strikers in the box out there.
with sterling and suarez around him he will make the difference.
he will be our hernandez.100%

Huntlaar is one of the best strikers in the workd dempsey had 1 good scoring season

He sat on the bench most the time at milan and madrid as other strikers were preffered but even then he had around 50% conversion rate

Him and suarez have already playe together and in that time scored nearly 100 goals between them and like 50 assists

Its a no brainer and IMO absolutely foolish not to get him CL would be almost guarenteed

18 Nov 2012 19:11:45
U do know the reason why fergie is talking about we over played owen too much at a young age (conveniently not mentioning the likes of lee sharpe who was burnt out by 28) is because he's jealous we have Sterling and he's trying to play mind games to unsettle him, nice one fergie unsettling a 17 year old, real class (sarcasm)

Luis suarez is world class and is capable of helping us win the title with a bit more quality to help him, he tried SO HARD to get rid of him, he got the whole country to hate him, class again fergie

I also think he worked with steve bruce and ian holloway to pretend to have serious interest in adam and henderson "adams set pieces alone are worth 20 mill" and with bruce we find out he aaid he thought he could get 4 mill with him i think fergie and brice worked together to raise the price to 20 mill to rinse out owners making us think he's worth more than he really was

Hea a master of manipulation and he has everyone in the game and media wrapped around his slimey finger im glad we have a glued up manager like BR who knows his stuff

It all came clear to me, every top class player we have he tries his best to unsettle them, why doesnt he talk about downing etc? Not a threat

It wasn't football that burnt out Lee Sharpe

Eds,fellow reds , what do you think about a couple of loans in January rather than buying .due to not a good window and with BR comments on transfers . {Ed002's Note - A loan is always possible.}

A Villa loan Ed002?

lol {Ed002's Note - To date Villa has never wanted to leave Spain. However, Barcelona are trying to raise cash and are looking to off load players either in January or the summer.}

18 Nov 2012 18:42:56
if the insiders in the club believe that yesil/sinclair could be ready in 2/3 years,29 year old proven goalscorer huntelaar would make sence.
i might be wrong but analizing BR downing cole need to be replaced + the missing striker.
in summer he will proberly buy sahin if not another left footed midfielder and replacement for carra.
if the scouting team do a good job the future will be great.
we are not far off, some quality can make a real difference.
players like sterling suso wisdom shelvey will only get better.

18 Nov 2012 21:28:36
Totally agree with this. We do not need to spend £25+ million on a striker approaching their peak when we have ready made strikers in the academy who need a few more years experience. A cheap proven goal scorer with 2 or 3 more decent seasons in them would be perfect.

Good point. That would make for sensible planning.

Another notched for the 'buy Huntelaar' argument.

Leave your name next time please. A voice of sanity is always welcome.

Eds and fellow reds,

I believe fourth place is a possibility but it all depends upon the next few games. Spurs and Swansea are tough games but I guess we are finding our rhythm and the belief is there in the squad. A top striker in January and I see no reason why we shouldn't getting the 4th place.

NILO {Ed002's Note - No, it depends on all of the games thru the end of the season.}

You all must me joking..just before u start suggesting players for january..know whoever is coming will never I repeat never move suarez from the No 9 role..are u crazy??how can u move your top scorer out wide..thank God rodgers is the coach..I don't know what the fuss about huntelaar(ask madrid and milan)when he was scoring for fun just like last season..and got he got his big move and failed miserably..did barca move messi out wide when david villa came.. of course not..rodgers has already said the system is to suit suarez..and you think he would change it..for who??whoever is coming in would either be a wing foward or a versatile striker who can play out wide..not a poacher or that kind of stuff..we need experienced players who can take up good positions when suarez draws out defenders..for me we need a good no 10 who can create and scorem.and a wing foward like maybe walcott or mertens

Suarez won't play every game & somebody else will be needed as no.9 in case of injury, fatigue, suspension, international duty or europa league. They can rotate the wide forward & centre forward over the 90 mins. The goal threat cant come from one person if we want to compete for top 4. An additional goal threat would have us challenging any team cause we haven't really been dominated this season & we hav played all the top teams. slodge

Damn right. However we could use a central striker to give Suarez a rest at times or if he is suspended/injured. I say go for Shane Long. And sign a wide man who can play either side of him. Zaha perhaps? Not Walcott because he has no brain.

Mantis

Interesting.

I do agree to an extent. But can see two reasonable sides to the Huntelaar debate.

I think the 'we need a central striker' argument overlooks that atm our central striker is the best in the league - and is flanked by 3 excellent prospects in Morgan, Borini and Yesil.

Those pushing the 'striker' argument are the same people who said 'Suarez is not a goalscorer'. Ignore them - they know little about the game - and have now changed their tune.

These types just repeat what they read/hear in the Mirror or Sky - or other rather crappy forms of media. Ignore them.

But on the other hand, Huntelaar and Suarez at Ajax were excellent with Huntelaar as the central striker - and Suarez is excellent out wide - and is capable of scoring hat-loads from there with proper support.

This could perhaps free up Morgan or Yesil for a loan spell if required - and gives us more options across the frontline.

Suarez, Huntelaar, Sterling is a tasty frontline. An improvement on what we have atm imo.

Wait and see, I guess. But it would be great to get Luis some help up there.

Huntelaar was brought up at Ajax - don't be fooled by his ability in the air - he can play football too.

If we were talking Dempsey I'd be saying no way - but BR clearly remembers how these two (JCH & LS) raised hell together.

He may be onto something...

BJH YNWA

Suso is that number 10, he needs to get a little more mobile when without the ball for me and he'll slot in very well and become very good in time, just as Sterling has shown he is capable of and Shelvey has done for quite some time now at an extremely young age.

These are by no means ''complete'' players but they are very good and still have years to learn their lines and become masterful over their craft an fprove their worth ultimately.

That's the only thing when playing very young players, sometimes we can forget they are still school and collage age, Sterling's still not old enough to vote.

Be loving, patient and understanding as i don't care about who comes in during January, we have such a good and solid core that needs to stay together.

Even Hendo looks in better sorts and the much questioned Brad Jones has pulled out all the stops and even Downing has chipped in and got us points, even if people do not appreciate a classic style English winger, who will run to the line and cross the ball, no tricks, no twists and turns, just arrow like runs and arrow like shots.

I can see Suso becoming an excellent No.10 in time - supporting the front 3.

BR also said recently that's where he sees him playing in future.

He's so good though, that I could see him playing the Xavi role, where he can see the pitch in front of him and use his vision and passing range to control matches - personally, I see that as his best position.

Or he could carve a career on the right side of a front 3, a left-footed Iniesta almost...

Though I do think he is best used centrally.

He is one of the most gifted young midfielders I have ever seen. He has more god-given ability than Sterling imo, which is saying something.

Shelvey may have eyes on the No.10 shirt too, he also has great talent.

Lucas, Allen, Gerrard, Sahin, Hendo, Shelvey, Suso.

Not a bad lot to fight for the 3 starting positions.

Sahin may have to fight to prove he's worth buying - I like that the emphasis is on him to show he's worth it. I hope to see the best of him at some point. He just needs fitness and consistency. He'll likely play v Young Boys.

Good shout on Brad Jones too.

He's proved himself a very reliable backup to Pepe over the last few weeks. If he had kept his place I couldn't argue with the decision based on his form.

Well done.

I'd say Stoke would appreciate Downing - that's my prediction.

Hey Ed, just wanna get your opinion on Guippsse Rossi because I read today that Liverpool are interested and I certainly don't believe they would buy a striker who is out until march but then again he would BE cheap. Do you think Liverpool or any club should take a risk on him? Thanks {Ed001's Note - I doubt we would take a chance on a player who seems to have a weakness, having suffered the same anterior cruciate ligament injury twice in a row. It seems to be pure paper talk.}

Surely to risky been there done that

With all the 'rumours' about Torres coming back to Liverpool, I was just wondering if anyone had noticed that we are second favourites on to get him in January. Now you can understand athletico Madrid being the favourites as he may become part of the Falcao deal but was just wondering if there is any substance to these rumours about him possibly coming back. I know it has been dismissed so many times, I for one would like him back long with huntelaar. Would be an amazing front three that with Suarez and Torres on either side with huntelaar through the middle.

Getting more than a little tedious this talk of Torres! Get a grip!!

Hi Ed's
With rodgers saying "there won't be a overhaul of players comming in in January, were looking for someone to reinforce the group" that kinda tells us that we should expect another borini transfer? I just think if we only have say 10m to spend why not save the money, wait till the summer and hopefully bring someone in who will make a difference?
What are your thoughts? {Ed001's Note - I am with you there, I would rather buy no one in January, than buy someone who isn't top class.}

I agree but you can see rodgers and the club getting a lot of abuse if we don't get anyone.
FowlerGod.

I totally agree, other than, they may see top 4 as an option which means they need to reinforce in case of injuries... but, you could hit lucky and get a Jelavic type player come in and hit form for ahlf the season!

Ed001 does that mean no Jan 'Klass' in January? Lolz

Ed 001. Huntelaar, Walcott, Bony, Hooper, which would you prefer?, or maybe someone I forgot that we're linked with. {Ed001's Note - out of those, Bony, as I don't want any of the other 3, but haven't seen a lot of him.}

He could be bluffing.

True , but we could still get world class players like huntelaar for 6-7 m, (10 m+ downing, cole )sold and huntelaar and walcott coming in will be good business,if it so happens ?
Any news on the filip djuricic rumor ed ? {Ed001's Note - the only thing I know about that is that Fergie has spoken to him.}

Well huntelar could still be bort in cuz he would cost 8-10mill BUT I'd rather them bring in some who can play wide who can score rather than move Suarez wide... Suarez has to be involved I don't want him playing wide he won't cause as much trouble

No team has total rehaul in January anyway so no real surprise that. But I believe we will Defo sign at least 1. Also a factor could be how close we are to the top 4 if we're within no less then 10 points away think owners could be tempted to push and spend abit more.

And if suarez gets injured who will score the goals if we dont get a striker in.

kumber

If we bring in a striker in January I imagine it will be one that can play with Suarez and cover him incase of injurys/form as well.
Why is everyone so worried?

MIKEY

Mikey have a think-look bwhere we'd be without Suarez! ffs

If we have any real ambitions of top four this season the next two league games are going to be a signal for how close we can get to that target.
Swansea and Spurs away are tough games but, although we are unbeaten in 7 league games, five of those have been draws. 10 points dropped will come back to haunt us at the end of the season.
2 more draws in the next 2 games (which seems the most likely results) wont be good enough because we are already 8 points adrift of West Brom in the last Champions League place.

Jay

I can never understand why any one would write off 2 games before we have kicked a ball in either! Come on mate, have a bit of positivity!

Hi folks! I am really angry about Fergusons comments that we broke Michael Owen ! This man really has no class! For him to have the nerve to say a comment about one of our former players is insulting to the club. I know Owen was a judas, but man utd only had him for 2 years or so, but surely he had no right to say that. The man is still bitter about our history and will not stop having a go at us! The man has no class! Full Stop!

great to see us convert our chances yesterday ,,thumbs up to henderson, what bout enrique he was brilliant ,,& as usual suarez was top drawer couldve scored 4,im geten bit worried bout these rumours linking suarez with amove away,&from what i hear it was liverpool themselves who put out the rumour that man city want to buy him, whats goen on there ,i would say if 40mil was bid for him the owners would take it ,& then give br 15mil to spend or something rubbish like that, hope not but the way the last window went br was let down big time on the last day ps would love to see us go all out for dzeko,,he would be top class with suarez playing behind him,,, IRISH RED

Dzeko needs the ball inside the 6 yard box to score..
tap ins or slow pass into the net..he is not an extraordinary striker..who bring the ball from 25 yards and run into the box and shoot..
coz..we dont have silva or nasri with us.who gives you the killer pass...we need a versatile striker..probable a rooney model..

If that happened then FSG have no intent on winning anything or even getting to CL spot -Without Suarez this season, we would be probably in relegation zone.

What has fsg done to liverpool that you lot dont believe in them. is it because they did not buy Dempsey. who is not exactly lighting up the league at the moment big fish small pond maybe(adam). anyway there was no way of telling that this would happen. but the choice was ayers and he just didnt think dempsey was worth the money. also there is no way liverpool started the rumours about suarez leaving that is just stupid. as for fsg having no ambition and want to sell their best players to make as much money as they can is the quote of morons. fsg want to make money like every owner in football but to make money teams need to be winning and challanging on all fronts. this also leads to bigger a fan base across the globe. just glad none of you have enough money to buy this club.

I've been thinking about yesterday's game and it's dawned on me that Brendan has evolved!

What I mean by this is, that in my view he has obviously had a talking to himself and I think that showed in his earlier than usual sub which in the end played a major part in the outcome of the result!

I'm starting to believe! I mean, really believe!

Don't get me wrong, I will always, always support the team, the manager, the owners, and all associated with LFC!

But with this team, with this manager....I think we can really push on this season and the next 10 after it!

I know we need more striking options in Jan! But I am no way convinced that come Jan 31st we will not have addressed this situation!

I will come out and say that if we buy the right player(s) in Jan, we will have a STRONG chance of finishing 4th this season!

I know every team has it's 'off period' in a season but I can only hope that we carry this unbeaten run on to Jan and beyond. And then if we were to have a 'blip' then we would have accumulated enough points not to be caught in 4th position!

Here's hoping!

Thoughts please....

K.Bennett

Rodgers has just said pretty much that "we don't have money for January that's just where the club is right now" he said he's looking to reinforce the group to help the group! Don't expect anyone to come in who's gunna make a top 4 push for us.... Players like that cost money we just don't have! Expect another borini/assaidi transfer just to add numbers!

Struggling to get your point about BR. He has made good tactical decisions on a number of occasions, such as changing formation against everton and making 2 half time subs

Yes, we won a game. Finally! Surely we are bound for CL next season......unless we lose next game then we are doomed for relegation......unless we win again the following week and are back in CL!

The ups and downs can be overwhelming at times.

My prediction: We get stronger and finish 5th or 6th. Still something to smile about when you consider the progress of our young lads/

First I have to say that Torres rumours are most likely false. FSG wont sanction a move for Torres who has no resale value and annoyed FSG with his comments and the way he left the club. If LFC are talking to CFC it possibly be about Strurridge although it will be unlikely of any movement on him as of the high transfer fee of £15 million being mention. Theo Walcott will only move if he doesn't sign a new contract (which I expect him to sign). Realistic transfer Tom Ince would be one, we do need left winger as at the moment Enrique is being used in that position, also with Downing being offered about our Left wingers options will be like our striking strength, WEAK. As for strikers I wouldn't be surprised if they just bought Ngoo and Morgan to the first team. Brendan in recent weeks has been praising how well they have been. Do you agree?

Resale value??
what about Huntelar...29+..?
If torres score 20 goals...
the value pumps up.........

I'd rather have Torres back than sign Sturridge - so that should tell you my view of Sturridge

Puzzled

I would rather have Hooper than Torres. And I really don't rate Hooper much.

Bit of a ramble....

I don't want Sturridge anywhere near our club either. I'd rather Carroll back - and I don't want Carroll back.

This Huntelaar rumour though.... I dunno what to make of it.

I trust Macca - and if it's true and JCH signs, I'll be happy, but I have some doubts.

Huntelaar is 29, he would cost a bit and his wages would likely be quite high.

Does this make a lot of sense?

I wish we signed Huntelaar years ago - I'm a fan - but I just can't see him joining in January - maybe I'm wrong, but didn't he say recently that he'd stay in Germany until the end of the season?

But then again - targeting Dempsey in the summer showed that BR may think we need more experience upfront.

When Suarez and Assaidi are our veteran forward options (not including Jose 'el Bale' Enrique) - perhaps he has a point.

Huntelaar could be a great tutor for the likes of Borini, Morgan, Yesil.

So maybe.... could a deal be done in Jan for £5-8m? anyone got good info?

29 or not, I recognise that he'd be a steal at that price - and his game is not built around pace... I don't like comparing potential signings to old ones...

But he could be our Aldridge! lol.

As for resale value:

Screw resale value, if he can bang them in and give us value for money - that's all I care about. A CL spot in the next year or two would repay the outlay nicely.

We have enough kids that'll be worth serious bucks in future as it is!

It is sensible to think of resale value, but sometimes exceptions can be made - and can still make financial sense imo.

It's been a frustrating start to the season but we seem to have hit a bit of form at long last. Our back four of Johson, Agger, Skrtel and Enrique is probably the strongest we've had in a while and now that Pepe is back we have one of the best if not the best keeper in the league back between the sticks. Given our lack of strikers would any Liverpool fan be apposed to seeing Torres back at the club - he and Suarez would be a dream partnership! Additionally Lucas must be a month or so away from full fitness - we miss a real destroyer in midfield and he has developed into that role brilliantly over the last two seasons. I'm sure we'll make at least two good signings in window and push on for 4th spot - it's not beyond the realms of possibility and only 8 points. Things are looking positive, the football is good, we're blooding some great youngsters - we just need to start scoring goals a little ealier so panic dosen't set it and players become a little tense. Nice to have you Mr Rodgers, I hope you're here for years to come.

The back four is Johnson Agger Skrtel Wisdom. Enrique is actually shielding Johnson & both men like to attack from that position. When one attacks the other covers. Wigan wasn't able to get anything going down our left flank.

Well done to the lads for the result yesterday. It doesn't mean we have turned the corner but we do have a lot of winnable games coming up and we must be patient.

It has been quite unusual this week with he rumours of Suarez leaving being denied by Roger and Suarez. I would like to put another slant on it. Maybe it isn't about Suarez leaving. It is a statement to potential targets. Here is a world class player, who has dreamed of playing for a club like Liverpool, who is not leaving and you could play alongside him. He is happy and his family are happy with the club and city.

It is quite a strong message.

Afternoon eds fellow reds , couple of things .I for one do see Torres returning to a previous club with a player exchange but the player is falco (spelling) .and my second point is liverpool will needs to bring in a striker that knows the prem or has played with Luis before because they will need to hit the ground running .but who will get moved out of the front 3 when the striker come in and what formation do you see ? Any thoughts .

18 Nov 2012 14:57:08
Oh my god, will some of you please stop masturbating over Torres?!

Too late. It's all over the screen.

Huntelaar or Torres in January?

Sorry but the answer is easy. We should try our best to get Huntelaar (and Walcott if his contract talks stall).

No doubt hunterlaar is my prefferd out of the two. The only way Torres would work in our system is if rafa Benitez came back, gerrard somehow became 28 again and Suarez playing behind Torres. All are almost impossible, unless gerrard discovers time travel. I only see us going for one forward in jan anyway.

Eds ,reds , watch game again just and I thought Jordan played the best he ever played for us yesterday , but he was in correct position which helps .well done JH keep it up.

Some of the papers seem to think we are in for guiseppe rossi

I also found out liverpool have been given 1/1 odds to get huntalaar

personally i would love to see huntelaar in the liverpool jersey

Huntelaar £8m
Walcott £8m
Rossi £8m

Downing £9m
Cole £2m
Carroll £17m

BigD

He's still injured and its says he plays for Valencia when he actually plays for Villarreal sloppy sloppy journalism

We wont be getting £2 million for Cole but we could end up paying him £2 million to get rid.

I agree but we would save 4m from wages

Chelsea stars of the future are being thrashed by Liverpool stars of the future 3-0 at the moment ;) more to come!

Before you get carried away, most Chelsea stars of the future are actually on loan. Courtoius, Kalas, Chalobah, De Bruyne, Mchreachran, Lakaku. Out of the ones we've kept behind, only 2 would be likely to make it, Ake and Feruz, and their both about 17.

OsgoodIsKing {Ed001's Note - before you forget, most of ours are in the first team so unavailable for the U21s.....}

Dont be too excited about it, yes I know we got one of the best youth teams in Europe but them beating chelsea really doesn't mean much or indicate anything about. Most of the boys at chelsea youth team will probably never get to establish themselves in the first team, cause lets face it, once Mr Roman Abrahimovic gets tired of his current superstars cause they are getting old, he is just going to splash out a few hundred million to get some new ones (I just hope its our ones). Chelsea might have some great young prospects but I really dont see them as Chelsea stars of the future.

Yet the age of our first team is still on average younger than Liverpools...

OsgoodIsKing {Ed001's Note - and your point is? Oh wait, you don't have one, well until Roman buys you one.....}

Haha just got done by ed01

Ed001 well played.

BthekingB

3-3 final. Top of the table by 5pts with a couple of games in hand. We have a great young setup at the club. Sloppy 2nd half though. There a great future here and it's not as far away as the horizon. YNWA

Chi-Paul

Finished 3 - 3 !

Funny the score was 3 v 3 and are u 18 beat Liverpool aswell

Maybe some 1 could tell me how much much Liverpool paid for Carroll, Henderson and downing about the same amount as Chelsea spent on mata, hazard and Oscar. Liverpool are poor if it weren't for poor finishing Chelsea would stuck 5 past them

"if it weren't for poor finishing Chelsea would stuck 5 past them" lol! If it weren't for poor finishing Liverpool would have stuck 5 past Man United & City. slodge

I have no sources but hearing a lot about Huntelaar and Walcott in January! I've not been the biggest fan of Walcott, but anyone who puts on an LFC shirt, I'll be backing them.

Would LOVE to see Huntelaar at Liverpool.

Thanks, Ell.

Its the other way around for me

Personally I can't see both coming to liverpool. Only one forward will come in jan. personally I think it's out of hunterlaar, Walcott and Sturridge. Which would you prefer though:

Sturridge--Suarez--sterling *

Suarez--Walcott--sterling

Suarez--hunterlaar--sterling *

Would prefer either Sturridge or hunterlaar to be hounest.

Suarez--Huntelaar--Walcott

That's a front line!

What baffles me the most is how the press are always on liverpool's case..they print stories like we are in the relegation zone..we have been so poor that we are five points behind everton and two behind tothenham.who have been fantastic all season rite??wtf

Why would you read such self-serving sh1te?

Liverpool fc are big news our fans are numerous .

Right either Fsg are lieing to Brendan about keeping Suarez.Or as i suspect their is a media driven campaign to drive Suarez away from Lfc.Again today'their'at it.This time its Juventus.Ffs weve said hes not for sale!

Dont panic, it sells newspapers, same as at the bookies it makes money. I can see Suarez going any where

Igor Biscan

{Ed002's Note - There is no media driven campaign. It is simply the press reporting what they understand to be correct - and there is sustained interest from Juventus as you would know if you read these pages reguarly.}

True Ed 002 but why do they KEEP reiterating it? {Ed002's Note - Because there is sustained interest.}

18 Nov 2012 14:34:09
Ed, you seem to rate Rodolfo Borrell very highly but can I ask why did he swap Barca for Liverpool? I don't know the full details but did we offer him a higher wage? I would also like to know your opinion on Craig Roddan and how old is he?
Cheers
NotInTheKnow {Ed001's Note - not money, it was for the chance to build something and have complete control over it. Himself and Pep Segura were also upset at being overlooked for a role with Barca's first team for Guardiola. So we got in there at the right time and they jumped at the chance. Roddan is 19, I think, and I love him as a player, I think he has a really bright future ahead of him. He works hard and is full of skill, I personally think all he lacks is experience, to improve his positioning on and off the ball. A good loan spell would do him the world of good.}

I don't think Roddan and Coady should play together. They are both too similar.

When Torres left I thought it would be years before we found someone as talismanic, but I honestly believe we've found one better in Suarez. When times got rough Torres dropped his head and sulked, with our Luis he revels in the hatred against him and the challenge we face as a club to become a force again. We should do everything in our power to keep that lad in a red jersey, as he's the engine that powers LFC. People can say whatever they want about Suarez, but to me he's one of the most creative, passionate and dedicated players I've ever seen. Fair enough he has his faults, and his passion can sometimes get the better of him, but he loves scoring for us fans, and you can see it. We should be proud to call him our striker.

I totally agree. What wouldn't I give for a second Luis in our team? I can't help thinking Bill Shankly would have absolutely loved Luis.

It's obvious why Ajax made him their captain, I'm not saying make him ours, just that besides being a great footballer and goalscorer he's also an inspirational player that never gives up.

18 Nov 2012 13:41:47
It has taken me a whole night to thaw out after yesterday afternoon, but now that I have, certain overriding impressions remain, although I suspect the majority have been covered already. At half-time I have to say I was beginning to feel as if it might be another of those days we've had to get used to against Wigan in recent encounters, even though if anybody looked like scoring, it was Liverpool. Jordan Henderson replacing Suso before half-time, and Sterling and Suarez combining straight after half-time were the turning points. The crowd were lifted, especially the Anfield Road end, and suddenly the team were pressing more effectively and romping forward when in possession. The chances just kept coming, mostly through Raheem, Jose, and Luis, and three nil could have become five fairly easily. A good win then, and plenty of good things to think about driving home. Jose Enrique was a revelation as a wide midfielder and combined excellently with Glen Johnson. I was delighted to see him actually getting into the penalty area and making a difference there, because without Maxi Rodriguez, that's something we've been lacking from the left. Luis Suarez was a menace again, and made a mockery of suggestions this finishing can be suspect, with the subtle one-touch finish for the second reminding me a little of some of Ian Rush's goals. Jordan Henderson was industrious and fitted in well with an equally industrious and highly effective Joe Allen. Raheem Sterling justified the hype surrounding him, and surely merits a song to go with Luis, Jose, Daniel Agger, Jonjo Shelvey, Stevie, Kenny, and Brendan. The defence was comfortable throughout and the clean-sheet might help to give the returning Pepe Reina a bit of a confidence boost, though Brad Jones was very unfortunate to be dropped. The Anzhi defeat aside, it has to be said that Brendan Rodgers has had a rather better week or two than I was expecting. Having made vital tactical adjustments in three of Liverpool's last four league games, is it time that we mothballed the idea that he only has a plan A? At Goodison Park Coates was brought on to great effect and the team shape was changed to 3-5-2. At Stamford Bridge the shape was also changed to great effect. Yesterday, Jordan Henderson was brought on and helped to win the ball back more rapidly. On the quiet, I feel quite encouraged for a change. More of the same in midweek and against Swansea and I might have to start eating a few of my previous words.

I would just like to say I'm sorry for hoping on the anti BR band wagon yesterday, i just lost my cool .

After yesterdays game, i have to admit. I think BR is a better tactision than Rafa. I will never doubt him again, i will try my utmost best. In BR i believe .

The liverbird is rising from the ashes.
Ciah

Will you be right back to calling for his head if we draw or lose next week? Support the club, manager and players always. Not just when they've won.

How can you say rogers is a better tactician than rafa. He's 12 games in his first season at a prestigious club and his biggest achievement is finishing 11th with Swansea. His tactics haven't proved anything yet. Until we get to our desired destination, you cannot compare him to people that achieved much greater things. I support BR 100% but I will never get ahead of myself. Suddenly we Win 3-0 and top 4 is ours. I remember under rafa we won 3-0 against Wigan and thought we should have had more. Remember half time at instanbal....what changed then? Tactics and we ended us winning the best game in the history of football. People need to stop undermining rafa, someone who fell in love with our club.

Lol.. :I'll never doubt him again"... Until he makes the next mistake and you'll be all over it like a rash...

The truth is all players and managers make mistakes but overall look at the philosphy of football he is beginning to bring to the club... He's not got it all right but he's pointing in the right direction for me... a few more ups and downs I suspect especially if we have injuries to key players . . .

I love watching Liverpool play now, I like Rafa's results 08/09 but blimey we could be boring - at least I'm not bored even if we lose a game.

18 Nov 2012 13:13:17
gonna put my hand up and say i slaged enrique off after the last 2 games. yes he had a good game yesterday and did add something going forward. but lets not get ahead of our selfs he still has a major battle on his hands. if we bring in a good wiger or striker i cant see jose getting into the front 3 that means its left back again for him which im not sure he would be trusted with if we had a full squad.

question for the eds will kelly or wisdom be higher in the picking order for r/b and what in your opinion is the best
leftback rightback combination ?

enrique/johnson johnson/kelly/wisdom

imo it is johnson l/b and kelly r/b

kumber {Ed001's Note - it will depend on how well Wisdom is playing when Kelly returns from injury. For me, Johnson at left back and Kelly at right back, or right sided centre half and Wisdom at right back.}

Johnson won't be happy about being stuck in left back though Ed will he?

Irish redman {Ed001's Note - he doesn't seem to mind it.}

You said if we bring in a good " wiger " is this a reference to Jose's bald head? :):):)

18 Nov 2012 12:47:01
What do we think of the next 3 games then guys?
It's played over 7 days, which will stretch our squad,i cannot think how he will rest players, you could argue that we really need a win on Thursday to be better placed to qualify.
That sounds great, but but we have two really tough away games at Swansea and Spurs afterwards. I'm feeling more optimistic about the Spurs game to be honest,Defoe might be a bit tired,Adebayors banned and they have as many games as us in the build up. Brendan has to balance the squad well,if he gets it horribly wrong, people will be baying for blood. It'll be tough but im sure he'll cope.
WelshBoyDave

Confidence will be high after the win yesterday, 6 points definitely up for grabs but not easy by any means. Spurs will be a little tougher but not writing Swansea off just yet. 2 points from these games and I'd be a tad disappointed but taking each game as it comes at the mo.

Cuchulainn's Hounds

We will get the 3points on Thursday. We will draw at Swansea. We will lose to spurs narrowly in my opinion, but then we will get 3 points against Southampton.

Just being a realist. Just because we won 3-0 yesterday doesn't change anything. {Ed001's Note - well it does, it changes our points total, the confidence of the players and the mood of the fans.}

Well some of them ed!!..........andy.

Not sure if im keen on all the Walcot rumours, when you take away his pace whats he got?strength?skill?passing?vision?finishing?I remember his cracking goal against us in the champions league a few years back when in an instant he made a mess of us but how often does he do that?am i being to harsh?

If you take away Skrtel's tackling what has he got? And Allen's technical ability? And suarez's cleverness? And Reina's shot stopping? I could go on...

Hounsred

He seems to be scoring quite a few goals for arsenal which would come in handy. He wants to play desparately through the middle and he's on his last months of his contracts. He would come cheap (£8-10 mill) and we can offer him that role through the middle. Although I would prefer hunterlaar and for some reason Sturridge.

Over the last few seasons walcott has averaged around 12 goals and 12 assists a season,so if he adds 24 goals to our total he would be an asset, and i think he would benefit from some of suarez clever through balls, rob b

He's arsenals second highest scorer in total for two seasons behind RVP not too shabby

Why people need to give up on this torres nonsense.

18th april 2010-the end of torres career.

Fernando was to under go knee surgery, and miss the rest of the season, plus what was thought at the time, also the world cup. Torres had 22 goals in 32 games that season for liverpool.

Del Bosque included torres in the squad for the 2010 would cup, despite undoubtedly being unfit. Torres made and appearance as a sub (first appearance in 2 months)in a pre wc friendly, and another sub appearance in the opening group game defeat to the swiss. Then started the next 2 games, and performed very poorly. If i remember rightly he was dropped in the knock out stages and was just used as a sub, even in the final.

Torres came back to liverpool, i imagined to be, distraught, confused, and tired. Europes top marksman, a forward who, when on the pitch, no defensive line was safe, from madrid to united. He only had a 2 month rest after knee surgery, and was rushed into spains setup for the wc. Rightly or wrongly, it was too much for him, and his performance wasnt up to scratch.

Now, even though his country won the world cup, he would undoubtedly wanted to have played a bigger part in it, and it must have been frustrating. He then doesnt have much more of a break before turning up to melwood, and seeing not benitez, but roy hodgson, ex fulham manager, whoms won nothing compared to a certain, fellow compatriot, Mr Benitez.

Needless to say, hodgson played him at every available chance, with torres looking worse for ware, unfit, slow, and the best way to put it, fat. Liverpool fans had seen the wc, and hoped it were just a blip. We pleaded and pleaded for his game to pick up, but unlike wayne rooney, who also started poorly after a injury in the summer, torres never got that form back. 5 or 6 league goals by january i believe.

Well we all know what happened in january, and to be honest, and possibly i may be speaking for a majority here, when i say i was happy to see him go, and estatic for the 50 m. (yes we blew it the next day, but at that moment i was buzzing) also we had a certain suarez on the books. Anyhow, torres went to chelsea and with every week he didnt score, it put a sligh smile on my face, as it were just me being bitter.

I genuinley thought he would get his form back, but even too this day, he is lazy, and moany as ever, not willing to get himself into shape. Football, like many things, you only get out what you put in, and for me, torres hasnt put anything in to chelsea, and i kinda feel bad for them to be dumped with him now.

Torres, will never, ever be the top goal scorer all of europe feared, and once chelsea have more options, they will offload him asap. I believe to spain. Compare a picture of torres in 2009 to one in 2012. Hes put on alot of wait and theres just no drive in him. Hes a man living on regrets, can only look behind and not forward. I wouldnt waste 10 m on the lad.

Fernando Torres, as a world class striker, is dead.

Benny baller

Not to mention the disruptive influence that he brings into the dressing room - which is why I still can't understand why people want him back.

Singred

Its a shame really, he'll never feel the love he felt at Liverpool at any other club. Despite the fact that he won the fa cup and champions league I think he would have stayed if he had the choice again again.

GuvTOB

While I agree with most of what you said, I would actually spend £10m on him, he is definitely still worth that.

ChrisMiz

I agree with certain aspects of what you have said. He certainly needs to be the main focus (both on the pitch and off it) for any team, and I think he was naive going to mega bucks chelski.

However, he still is an attacking threat, and shows glimpses of genius that only certain players possess. So I don't agree he is a spent force.

Would he work well with Suarez? I personally don't think so. He would clearly be the number 2 guy, and he doesn't do well in that position. Would I take him for a 6 month loan if that was our best option? ofcourse.

hai ed great site and excellent work..
great result..and good confidence booster..
next two games are very important...both away games..
swansea would be more difficult than spurs..
would like to see lucas back in action at spurs..
we need him in midfield.which will allow allen and gerrard to bomb forward.

if we get a result in swansea...i think we are going to have a very good christmass..

for january we need two players.
huntelar and walcot or a winger.

David Moyes, when discussing on soccer sunday the preparation time back from internationals said, and I quote

"you get very little time for preparation, I mean this must be situation for the better teams like man utd, arsenal Chelsea and Liverpool who, over the years have had lots of players away when it was always an international game on a wednesday then a game on the saturday. Couldn't watch or listen to the match yesterday, so thought I would watch the highlights on MOTD. Rarely watch it because of the cr*p which gets talked by the so called experts. What a waste of an hour! The Liverpool first half 'highlights' lasted no more than 15 seconds, and there was as much time spent showing a mistimed challenge by Suarez (again showing the apparent 'ugly' side of his game) as there was the whole match. I shall make a point of trying my hardest to never watch MOTD again. What a pile of cr*p. Just to complement the cr*p, we had the pleasure of watching Harry DelBoy Redknap schmoozing about the place, and Kompany (great defender, but has the personality of a lump of driftwood) contributing nothing. Whose job is it in the BBC to get these people in? As I said, absolute waste of an hour.

Talk about stuck up. Thought Redknapp handled himself well, if you think that being a cockney and probably proud of it is schmoozing thence I guess your right.
JohnBoy

Redknapp being a cockney has sod all to do with MOTD being cr*p last night, JohnyBoy. Bad analysis, no insight, the constant fanning of the flames of the anti Suarez campaign, boring so called 'experts', and a maximum of 3 minutes of highlights from the Liverpool match are what I had a problem with. Where a kn*bhead like 'arry comes from makes no difference to me. The fact that he is a kn*bhead does.

altough it was a gd result yesterday i think that after we scored the 3rd we took our foot off the gas, and tried to keep the ball........in my opion we should have kept going and tried to punish them further.....anfield has to be made a place other teams dont want to come to again, a fortress, and itll only do well for the team..........our problem is we do not a gamble enuff and have not got enuff players forward.....and reminds me of rafas period when we would go out and try not lose the game.....basically i think brendan needs to take more of a gamble and i think lucas will be key to it happening......as he did say we would start playing wiv one holding mid soon wiv joe allen pushed forward, which is wher he plays best......liverpool fc will see a different joe allen i think in a few weeks, the attacking side of him which impressed me when he played there the forst 6 months ar swansea.......the lad has a football brain and his movement and quick passes in the final third will destroy teams

Watching motd last night (how poor are there highlights) I noticed that Torres is back to his sulking best, as he was for the past 18 months at Liverpool. I could see Torres making a return but why the hell would anyone want that chap back at our club. He is not fit to lace king luis's boots. No thanks Chelski, offload your garbage somewhere else.

Do some people really have so little hope for the future? I mean Darren bent! Really..

Cudge

Dont agree with you there. darren bent is a proven goal scorer (poacher) and has been every where he has been. but it is his link up play that is a problem. but if we can get him for free/downing i would bite there hand off only thing is villa has a quality front 3 at the moment. do they want him back?
downing 20 mill summer 11
bent 18 mill rising to 24 winter 11
with right teams they both can be good players.

kumber

Yeah cudge, ridiculous suggestion, why would anyone want a proven premiership goalscorer!

Chris in Tamworth

Bents got a worse strike ratio then suarez,

He has got a worse goal ratio than Suarez and obviously he'd be behind Suarez in the pecking order. He does however have a better premier league goal ratio than Robin van persie and his clubs include Ipswich, charlton, Sunderland and villa which makes it all the more impressive

Chris in Tamworth

Am i think he is just too injury prone.
derryred

Chris their its obviously a reason that he's had as many clubs ad he has, also nombre of the big boys have ever been remotely interested in him.
You can keep goin on about ratios but couldn't live with how we play. He can trap or further then most can kick it, abysmal touch and if he ain't scoring he offers nothing at all, on fact he's a detriment to the team. Getting Villa rejects really ain't the way to go. Now I'm sure you'll rebut this but your wasting your time.

JohnBoy {Ed001's Note - it's his attitude that is the issue, he is extremely lazy on the training ground, hence him being unable to get in the team at Spurs.}

John boy there's no need to get so touchy and it wasnt me who bought up ratios. I'm not saying I'd have him there are certainly a few I would have ahead of him and I'm aware he has a poor attitude but it really winds me up when people suggest he's a bad player when he simply isn't. I'd love to hear your suggestions for strikers we could sign

Chris in Tamworth

If he was that good chris theb he would be 1st choice now and be up there with suarez and v.persie . he cant get a game for his club at the moment so why should we take him

Hi eds could Suarez get banned if the ref looks at the video and says should of walked yesterday, if the ref missed it?

Mighty reds {Ed002's Note - It is possible for the FA to issue retrospective red cards.}

I don't think it will happen as their was no intent IMO

Cudge

I'm afraid to say that type of tackle happens too often from Suarez to be no intent. Great player but fairly dirty. Not a bad thing though lots of great players have had an agrressive side!

There was no intent it was just mis-timed. I cannot believe people saying it was dirty, he is running like a lunatic all game and intercepting the ball in those positions is key to his success. He mis-timed it and caught the guy, he did not leave the groud and it was probably a yellow at most. People need to get off his back as he is one of the best talents in our league and indeed the world. I for one love this guy and hiss passion for Liverpool and the game itself. He has my upmost respect.

You are all deluded, of course it was a stamp! Why can't you see it? It's right in front of you!! Also there's no chance in hell we will finish 4 th.

Sorry Ed - I understand that if the referee sees the incident and takes no action, apart from giving the free kick, which he did, then there can be no retrospective action.

John B {Ed001's Note - unless the referee admits he made a mistake, so it is possible.}

How come when suarez does a mistimed tackle he gets slated for it and everyone says he meant it , but when other strikers do it then they shout " its a forwards tackle " and write it off as such , was his tackle has bad as adebyours , i think not , its fuunt though adebyours was a horror tackle , suarez's was a mistimed one

Thats right mate you didnt see the tackle on hendo against west brom in the capital cup shown over and over again and it was one of the worst ive seen be unpunished no press coverage about the player who committed it if it had been Suarez he would of been hung drawn and quartered

No Ed will not be a RED after game if no action taken in game {Ed002's Note - You have that the wrong way around.}

Great to see a professional performance from the lads yesterday. Second half was excellent. Maybe Enrique has found his best position, he certainly has speed, skill and attacking ability. He is a decent left back but at times his defensive duties suffer.

He achieved more in yesterdays game as a true left sided midfielder than I have seen from any Liverpool player recently. He was a constant threat, maybe Brendan has unlocked a secret skill ? The new Gareth Bale maybe ?

Nice to see Suso, Sterling, Wisdom and Henderson really starting to show good skills.

For me personally, I thought Henderson looks a lot stronger, and more willing to keep hold of the ball than he used to be. He was needed in the midfield anchor role yesterday as Joe Allen seems to have lost some of his early form.

Overall a good solid result, showing lots of promise by our developing team...but Suarez stole the show with a world class performance and team work ethic.

Tel 1949

I couldn't agree more. Playing him their was like getting an exciting new signing quarter the way through the season. There seems to be a really good moral In the team at the moment. I'm so glad that enrique has had a decent couple of games as he seems to be one of the players responsible for that positivity within the side.

Cudge

Could not agree more, been very impressed by enrique recently!

I'd be happy with two signings in January: 1 striker & 1 wide man to replace both Cole and Downing.

Huntelaar and Walcott for me. Together they would cost around 12-14m, with Cole & Downing bringing in around 8-9m

Who would you want in for a striker and wide forward?

Loic Remy can play wide and as an out and out striker, i think he has more goals in him than Theo Walcott has, at a lesser weekly wage as well.

Wilfred Bony is also a very interesting prospect for that type of player.

As a far out in left field signing, i think Wilfred Zaha would also cover the wide and striking area, although his productivity in terms of goals is questionable, much as Theo Walcott's was before he bagged a fair few this season.

I know it was only one game but I thought Enrique was superb at Left midfield. But I agree I would take Huntelaar and probably Walcott.

Mighty reds

Look suarez is on fire top scorer, 4 me hes playing better than messi, this is our opportunity, we shud invest in this january, walkot becouse is gona b cheap, and a world class finisher, (cavani, lavezzi, jovetic, villa, torres, snaigder, pato, etc) i know we cant dream from falcao, neymar, or ballotelli. But thouse striker i mentioned shud b got here in january, i mention torres bcouse he been here and he will still do good partnership wif gerard, lucas, johnson, skertel, danish defender, becouse he been wif them and before torres returne he knows the way of movment, passing, trick, creation and etc becouse he been wif them before so this is a wery huge advantage, plus he can play alongside suarez sterling hendo henrikez, if all this come positive we definitley will get top 4, and maybe we will be chalenging 4 title. I just 1 of thouse player alongside wollkot, will huge 4 liverpool fc, this our oportunity, wif suarez on fire and top scoring line, but we need 2 add thouse 2 from the begginig of the transfer to get everifink in our way. Thank u

Wifred Bony has all the attributes to be a success in the Premier, instant control, great shot, good in the air, great movement and pace, strong as an ox. We should take a chance on him for around 8/12 M and Walcott if the chance comes our way. For around 20M combined we'd have great options upfront.
Suarez, Sterling, Borini, Bony, Walcott would do for me.

He gets a lot because he has obviously got more talent and ability then he has been showing, i get so infuriated with him as he was so good at Sunderland and influential even at his slight age.

If he can recapture his confidence and form, then ha we've just got ourselves a real good player at last. It seems to take many midfielders more time than others to get to grips with their surroundings.

Looked ok against relegation teams but against top teams he simply isnt good enough sunderland was his level

Enrique's positional sense when defending is poor but attacking wise he was taking up some good positions and was making nice runs in to the box today . Plus gives us a real physical presence higher up the pitch . I think his physique can give jason statham a real complex.

good result today, now time to build on this. with all due respect it was Wigan, a team we should be beating by 3-0, would we not agree on this, one of the so called lesser team. However lets take this confidence forward to the next and increase this unbeaten run, including some more wins along the way. hopefully the right deals happen in jan, to spur us in the chase for top 4 spot. then we should really be on the correct track of restoration.

I can clearly remember wigan being the thorn in the run for title in 2009 season and we have always drawn with them for the last 2 seasons at anfield under RH and the King. So I would say these are 2 welcome points.

Great result today ,i think if we keep all our players away from injury we will win prem if not we are definately top 4 no problem ,we play great football are getting better week by week have players comming back ,we have already played top teams and chelsea were lucky to draw we hammered wigan and they have been playing great,we played superb against man city but for a silly mistake ,lets also remember enrique was player of year in first season and was excellent in last 2 games hendo has been poor but was great today ,ive noticed a lot of the doubters who wanted enrique and hendo out all this season now want them so what players will take their places for the witch hunt and i also include lucas in this but he is fans favourite now,so what happens if suarez has a dip in form for 5 or 6 games will he also be targeted, gerrard has had a dip and has been trash talked, football is a confidence game and if we all get behind all our players any players dip in form will inprove a lot quicker if they feel the support of their fans a hundred percent, remember we may get a player or 2 in january as well as what we have got and will be even stronger , if players around the world see the fans are behind every player they are more likely if invited want to join our great club,BR is not stupid if he thinks a player dosent fit in with his system or if hes past his best or for what ever reason he will change that player im sure when he can and get a replacement,im not saying lets cheer a player when he makes a mistake but we should encourage more than slag, those players want to play and do well and will keep trying and more encouragement the quicker a player mends his ways our manager works with these players week in ,we should let the manager do his job and do what we used to be famous for being the best fans in the world for the best football club,LFC,-SALLY-

I agree except for the start of your post. we will win the prem or get top 4 no problem.
we are still along way from getting top4 and you can forget about wining the prem this year. as for top 4 we need a lot of thing to go our way big players to stay injury free, teams to be unlucky when we are playing bad, and our new signins to hit the ground running and other teams to drop points. enrique has only played one season for us an it was skrtel who was player of the season. before that was lucas.

great win today by the team , and a well sone to BR for changing the team when it was needed , some people dont like BR because they have their favourites , kenny or rafa , but i think keeny and rafa would not have had any better results if they were in the same position as BR , its his first season with liverpool , we have joe allen , his first season with liverpool , we have played the top 7 teams in the league , and BR got let down in the transfer window after letting AC go to west ham on loan . leaving both the team and BR with only 1 quality striker , so after taking all this in you would think we were in a bad position , our performances an the whole have been very good , but we have not got the points that the performances have deserved , but we are unbeaten in 7 and we now have the leading scorer in the prem , and yet after all this some people still moan about BR or the players , but for me the squad and the manager have done great , i also forgot to mention that we are playing with teenagers who dont even have a years experience in the prem yet , so for me i will judge the team and the manager zt the end of the season , and hopefully celebrate getting into europe again for next season ,

Don't wanna put a downer on a good performance and finally some luck, but seriously that looked like a horrible stamp by suarez, I hope he can calm down a bit. Love the guy to bits but sometimes he holds your breath for the wrong reasons lol. Anyway lets keep up the form!

It was typical forwards challenge nothing serious, play never stopped, no one hurt, no one booked, hardly worth mentioning but knew someone would.

No one was hurt but i agree about Suarez. While he may have not hurt the guy i worry that if he keeps doing that he will miss games, and clearly we cannot let him miss games

Sounds like a troller, if Martinez thinks Suarez was a red then I wonder his thoughts about Figueroa on Sterling in the first half, looked pretty similar challenges. Granted Suarez should have got a yellow but I lost a lot of respect for Roberto with those post match comments.

I personally only see us going for 1 forward in January. I think the main targets are hunterlaar (Macca said so enough said),
Walcott (unless he signs a new contract with arsenal I see him wanting to play first team football, that will not happen at Chelsea or city and he certainly won't move to spurs. We were strongly linked with him in the summer and I see that interest renewed in jan) and sturridge (he wants first team football and unless he goes to spurs I see him real possibility). It's more like a rotation of Suarez, sterling, borini and one of the above forwards.

Only three of Suarez, Borini, Huntelaar and Walcott would be the forwards.

Suarez, Huntelaar*, Walcott*
Allen, Gerrard
Lucas*
Enrique, Agger, Skrtel, Johnson
Reina

= better options for the bench

Jones, Coates, Carragher, Wisdom, Robinson, Henderson, Sahin, Shelvey, Downing, Sterling, Suso, Borini.

Stuuridge was greedy and wasteful yesterday

I wonder how sterling would feel if he for no reason stopps getting games.

I think if we signed hunterlaar and walcott we would have a very competitive squad

Question for eds .
Having won 5 European cups. Why do Liverpool not have a goal star on the shirt?
Cheers
Marker {Ed002's Note - I know nothing of shirts.}

Because everyone knows were the most successful English club in European competitions. We don't need a pretentious star on the shirt to prove that!

We're more dignified than that. Wouldn't want the mancs to get upset that we're ramming it down their throats every match

We have 5 gold stars on our kit when we play in the champions league. Hopefully you will see this in the next couple of years :-)

I'd buy:

Hatem Ben Arfa, only 25 and can fit into this formation very very well. He will be able to dribble freely past players and link up with Suarez - 20-25 million.

Moussa Sissoko, only 23 and he will be someone who can drive from the midfield with his pace and strength. Following Brendan's messages after the game he said he likes to play with 1 sitting and 2 pushing forward [which is why Suso got took off] so I think Sissoko will fit in perfectly in that respect - 5-8 million.

I think we need another winger too but I would make these priority.

You've just watched match of the day

So? Ben Arfa is a quality player no matter if he has a bad game on match of the day or a good one and I didn't see Moussa Sissoko on there

I think he was talking about the fact you quoted what Brendan said!

Already got henderson to drive from midfield

Ben arfa--Suarez--sterling would be a great attacking trio but first Ben arfa would probably prefer playing for a club in the champions league and would cost far too much especially as he's a Newcastle player. Should never do business with them ever again. Plus we need a goal scoring striker.

Lol He isn't worth that much more like £15m MAX

Main problem for me is that our team lacks goal scorers from the wings. Sterling is too inexperienced and wont chip in with more than 5 goals a season. Someone like Pedroo r Schurlle would be perfect as they can both chip in with 10 goals a season
