Does anyone else have concerns about Suarez playing the striker role in a 4-3-3? I think his style
fits the 4-4-2 of old much better, he would be lethal
up front with the support of another striker rather than wingers. We would have been better off playing big Andy up
front in a 4-3-3...if Buck's system is set in stone Suarez would be much better off in an attacking mid role, and us bringing in someone else to fill that goal
poaching role. If we had games to mess around with I'd be tempted to swap Luis and Stevie...just a thought

Super

Please if liverpool going for any striker i think it should be just three gary hooper,zaha and locadia..no villa ,sanchez and bent.sturridge those guy will be too expensive.is merten and butland coming to LFc

Who cares if theyre expensive. If the owners are happy to fork out, lets get Sanchez.

18 Oct 2012 22:57:29
Do you think that if we do actually bid for Hooper in January, he'll fix our goal scoring problems?
I'm personally not to sure, moving from the SPL to the BPL is a huge change. You think he'll be able to handle Physicality?
I mean, Jelavic has done well since moving but I'm not sure if Hooper can do the same.

18 Oct 2012 22:25:26
Why have we come down to this problem? Last season we didn't score enough goals, the fans demanded a striker!

Instead we sold Dirk Kuyt, Craig Bellamy and Andy Carroll and bought in Borini

Now im no manager but surely we get rid of 3 strikers that we struggled to score with and bring in 1 that doesnt make sense, okay you can say we missed out on dempsey etc BUT that is still not the point we struggled for GOALS a striker should of been bought staright away now we have to rely on Suarez to score which is asking alot!

Lets just hope we sign someone in January straight away! eds i havent been on for a long time are we intrested in anyone?

Cheers JJ

i have seen yesil on youtube no place else, heard he scored a few goals fo german u19 team. cant understand why there is a clamer for him to play.
over all i am more hopeful of our future than ever before, sterling, wisdom, susso and shelvey all look class players. i love allen, think he was a great signing. and of course sahin. striker situtation done to bloody death.
ed in your opinion will jack robinson and seb coates make it?
also do you know if liverpool or any club interested in nathan redmond?
thanks, class site.

B O H {Ed001's Note - Yesil has been outstanding at youth level for Germany, that is why there is a clamour for him to play. Robinson and Coates will make it, I believe, they are both good enough to play in the Prem now. The question is whether they will make it with us, which is impossible to answer. Redmond was interesting a lot of clubs a while back, right now there is little interest in him. His form has been terrible, at least I am assuming it is form, because he doesn't look good enough at all right now. A lot of that could be down to Clarke being a poor manager, but only time will tell. If Brum's takeover collapses, Redmond will have to be sold, if he is going cheap, some of the club's that showed past interest will more than likely take a chance.}

18 Oct 2012 21:55:20
Not a rumour but an interesting topic. In your opinion/knowledge how will clubs like man city Chelsea and qpr cop. With financial fair play? If it comes in and works the way it should.. and how will we be positioned? I would have thought the traditional big clubs in us man utd and arsenal will be best off as we have the most supporters..

18 Oct 2012 23:49:29
Mate FFP rules are not going to scare chelsea or man city or Psg etc,etc.There are lots of ways to deal with it example man city announcing 40/50M sponsors from their own company Etihad that's just small example. There are lots of Loopholes to tackle it and big clubs will find ways to escape. Even clubs like Barca and Madrid are in big financial problems. Recently Barca had to borrow 140M from bank to pay wages to their players who were not paid for 3-6 months. Now can you imagine champions league without those clubs. At the same time clubs are thinking to break from champions league and forming their own league

19 Oct 2012 00:02:41
Mate never trust UEFA or FIFA they are corrupt

You can add the FA to that too

18 Oct 2012 20:51:12
Eds.whats your line up for saturday .mine whld be ,reina,johnson,agger,sktel,wisdon,allen,shelvey,sahin,sterling,gerrard,suarez,subs.suso hendo,coates,carra,downing,yesil,jones gk great sítě keep it up {Ed001's Note - I think the only change I would make, would be to give Sterling a break, rather than Suso. I mean change to your team.}

18 Oct 2012 20:43:38
Evening eds fellow reds .so proves one point today BR is as stuburn as they come we have 1striker who has travelled 15.000 miles in a week and he wouldn't even consider calling big Andy back . person ,think we will struggle big time now . {Ed001's Note - or you have no idea what you are talking about? I will go with that because the rules forbid the return of a loaned out player outside of a transfer window, when a loan fee has been paid. Stop stirring and whining over nothing, it is pathetic.}

OWNED!!!!!

Wrong on so many levels. No FA board member should be associated with any club.

We have no chance of any decision with the FA. It was bad before, I think it is going to get much worse.

i cannot believe some of the comments and disrespect about suarrez said the same old tripe about torres suarez is our best player and ye want rid yere delusional if ye think loriente or soldado will join liverpool in jan a poor midtable team take suarrez out of liverpool wait and see the crap br will bring in borini 11 mill omg;

18 Oct 2012 19:32:41
A lot of fans say we should play Yesil in our first xi but forget Raheem-suarez-suso are doing well whom would you replace to acommodate him in our first xi

Non use him as a sub

Johnson-Agger-Skrtel-Enrique (or Johnson on left with Kelly on right)
Sahin-Gerrard-Allen
Suarez on Right Yesil on top and Sterling on Left.
Suso could replace Yesil with Suarez on top and Suso on right.
But i am not the manager.
DanielDenmark

Kelly is out for most of the season.

Jonesred

Daniel are you a bit cuckoo?

Kelly is injured.

Mighty reds

Sterling and suso are doing well but they have not scored we need to try and get some one in who will score.

18 Oct 2012 18:07:12
Hi Eds sorry but i have a really long question for you guys regarding Brendan Rodgers and some other managers

when Brendan Rodgers was appointed manager FSG apparently didn't approach Rafa, who imo seems a perfect fit for their system with the work he did at the academy e.g. buying suso for next to nothing, shelvey for 1.5 million, flano, robinson, wisdom, morgan all coming through as local lads - as well as his larger purchases like torres, mascherano and alonso all being sold for massive profit (maybe not mascherano) as well as the signing of some players who were branded " flops " who are now flourishing whether they play for LFC or not e.g. Lucas and Insua

is it true that louis van gaal wanted the job but was not approached?

and is it true that a massive reason they went for rodgers was he was "over achieving with limited resources" at swansea and they knew he wouldnt be too vocal in blasting FSG for screwing up the way they did on the transfer window deadline day.

is Ian Ayre responsible for the transfer window rubbish or is it solely FSG and are sturridge and walcott both targets as they have around 8 months left on their contracts

realistically if we cant get anfield upto 60k are we deffo staying, do you think FSG would settle for 55k and raise ticket prices.

how skint are FSG, do they actually have a 3 year plan or are they using it is an excuse to spend next to nothing?

and do you guys trust FSG to take us back up there or will they turn us into a proper mid table team? {Ed001's Note - why would they approach Rafa? The man had a chance, failed miserably and tore the club apart doing so. He then went to Inter and made an even bigger mess there. Move on.
No idea about van Gaal, I can't remember, sorry.
Of course over achieving is going to be a reason to go for him, but that has no relevance to the second part, which is just utter nonsense.
Ayre is partially to blame, FSG also partly to blame. They were in the summer, I would think they still are now, unfortunately.
Of course we are staying at Anfield for the forseeable future, I don't understand why you are even asking.
Skint? They are not skint, they are very rich, but they are not just going to throw money at the club. Why would they? That's not how it should be run, that would just leave us in trouble if they did have problems or lost interest.
I trust them to try and get us back up competing, whether that is possible or not will depend on numerous factors. No team aims to drop away from the top, it is just sometimes it happens.}

18 Oct 2012 20:43:13
Ed1 mate ed2 thinks liverpool job was to soon for Rodgers if results don't improve he might be in trouble {Ed001's Note - maybe he will turn out to be right, only time will tell.}

Ed..is it true that you dont like rafa one bit?

I challenge you...can your manager get liverpool in to top 4??

and by the way he is the last manager who took us in to CL..
something you will never {Ed001's Note - I like Rafa as a fella a lot, he is a very nice guy, so no not true. It is just idiots that can't tell the difference between personal liking and judging their ability think that way. Now run along.}

18 Oct 2012 20:50:55
Ed1 mate don't you think owners should fix our striker problems which has troubled us for few years. Eg: buying world class if not then atleast a class striker which will solve our goal problems for few years and will help us atleast to fight for champions league {Ed001's Note - no, I think we have good enough youngsters that needs games. Spending lots of money is not necessarily going to solve anything.}

"the man had a chance,failed miserably" so I must have imagined us being rated #1 club in europe during Rafa's tenure!I also must have imagined Rafas work with the academy the benifits of which are only now being seen.I wouldnt want Rafa back but to say he failed miserably is out of line!
NAVANRED {Ed001's Note - his job was to win the Prem, nothing else, that was the mandate he was hired under. Did he win the Prem? No. So he failed, miserably because we were further away than ever when he was removed.}

When rafa was manager we had world class players but now after 3 other managers what do we have .
we have potential but i would rather have world class players for now.red mick tag {Ed063's Note - Will you Rafa brigade give it a bloody rest!!!}

hi...do u rate hooper? is he good for us?
thank you !

18 Oct 2012 23:25:21
Hooper is big fish in small pond. If you put him in Liverpool he will look small fish in big pond. Mate playing for liverpool is big differnce compare to celtic. Look at Downing was shining every year for astonvilla or charlie Adam. Now I'm not comparing them with Hooper just giving small example

18 Oct 2012 17:14:44
With Borini out for a while and 2 months left until the transfer window and the possibility of a striker. Do you see Adorjan getting some game time in the first team, he has been class this season for the under 21's and he not only scores goals, he creates them too. Adorjan, Yesil and Pacheco to get a chance soon in my opinion. Do you agree?

LFE

He is an attacking mid not a striker

LIES Adorjan is actually a SS

Gerrard is and attacking mid but has played up top this season

LFE

That boys got talent

18 Oct 2012 17:06:53
ed do u think we mite make an offer for walcott in jan if he still hasn't signed a new deal over gary hooper thanks {Ed002's Note - I expect him to sign a new deal.}

18 Oct 2012 17:04:15
Rodgers wants Walcott, Llorente, Benat in January. Aubameyang is a possibility aswell. {Ed002's Note - Does he have £50M?}

18 Oct 2012 18:53:55
Perhaps, the proceeds frm Torres' sale are still available. Just maybe.

Not a chance of llorente!

He'll need to start grovelling to the owners now then.

Benat £10m, Bastos £6.5m, Pato loan £2.5m - with option to buy £21.5m

Suso is expected to sign a new, improved contract at Anfield before the weekend.

DeLaRusso

That would great news, was worried in case they let him go

18 Oct 2012 15:45:00
Hey ed's! Hope you're all well! Just a quick question, do you know if it's true that young Suso signed his contract extension today? Cheers, Scouserseb {Ed002's Note - There is nothing tangible from the club that he has signed, although I anticipate he will do shortly.}

18 Oct 2012 15:44:57
Hi eds will Reina be fit for saturday? And if not who do you expect to be keeper, Doni or Jones? {Ed002's Note - The club will assess his fitness tomorrow afternoon. If not expect Jones to sit in.}

Yesil on the bench at the weekend

Sooner have him in the first XI

Great to see Torres has his son a Liverpool supporter.
I wonder why not a Chelski one?

How do you know?

Jonesred

He said so in about every paper yesterday about how he, last season, did not care if Chelski lost or won and the 'truth' about his move from LFC would come out one day.
He then commented about Hillsbourgh and how he was glad about the recent events and his feelings for the people of Liverpool who he knew were effected by the liars.

18 Oct 2012 13:21:15
Hey Ed's I was wondering how would you want Torres back at Liverpool I know he won't come back but say he did what would your opinion be of it? {Ed002's Note - It won't happen.}

Why do people insist on clinging to the past? Torres, Alonso etc were great for the club but time has moved on and we need to look forwards not backwards. It's a shame they chose to move on for their own reasons but so be it. We can't recapture the past more's the pity.

18 Oct 2012 12:45:41
I dont uderstand why everyone is moaning about borini being injured, the front three of sterling suarez and suso is rather good...
mdp

And if they get injured where is the back up ..

I think its more the strength in depth in the srtiker position that makes the Borini injury a worry, take Suarez out of that front 3 and you have potential but no guarantees of goals.

Jay

Back up with exp
1. Assaidi
2. Downing
3. Cole

back up with little/no exp
4. Pacheco
5. Yesil
6. Morgan

20 million for zaha? Why are English players so overpriced they haven't won anything since 66!!

I really hope we don't him for even 10 million. We could sign so much better for 20 million

Jonesred

Paper talk, top price would be £10 mill although lfc not expected to bid

Like Downing , Henderson !!

Much love

The media and pundits are always going on about the number of foreign players in the EPL and how it stifles the development of English talent but the fault lies with the clubs and the players and this is a prime example. The clubs drive up the price of anyone who shows any talent and the players demand top dollar.

In most cases technically superior players can be bought from overseas at a fraction of the cost and for lower salaries. Until the greed of English clubs and players is controlled there will be a continual influx of overseas players.

Barrym

We will get no one in Jan

Craig No.one of cardiff? Doubt it we need a striker and we WILL get one. redevon

Is that you, Tony Pulis?

18 Oct 2012 11:40:13
this was in HITC SPORTS NEWS
Poland legend Zbigniew Boniek has said that on loan Liverpool striker Andy Carroll is a worse player than his eight-year-old Grandson. Carroll is currently on loan at West Ham United and the former Poland player has criticised Carroll's game saying that his only advantage is his height and that he lacks the skill of his Grandchild. It is unclear whether Carroll will return to the club at the end of the season.shocking from a past player to have a go like that.

Naa whats shocking is that your 4 days old with this news.

Pork chop

Nah really what is shocking, is that Liverpool are now linked with a £20 million move for Boniek`s 8 year old Grandson !

Much love

Eds, is there any chance we could sign Zbigniew's grandson?

John CT

John CT. Probably since he fits in with our youth policy.

18 Oct 2012 11:13:14
Hi all, just want to open a discussion about Luis Suarez and put in to perspective the type of player he is and type pf person he is and is he as good as we make him out. He's at the club almost 2 years now and in my opionon he's just not worth building a team around or partly around. I think the kid has skill no question and is a quality player but will he get better? Let's be honest he was a complete disaster for the team last season, getting banned for 8 games how many points did that cost us? How many points did it cost us after he came back in terms of team performance while not picking up points when he was away with low team moral it all counts to your final point tally. Kenny Dalgish is revered on this site and rightly so, he made a fool out of him and our global image. Mud sticks whatever way you think. 2 hat tricks against Norwich and couple of goals in between is not god like status.

Before you see other teams that have players that dive no need to mention them here everybody knows who they are but yet we could say we don't have blatant cheats. I'm not saying our team is pure of course players go down easily but outright cheating looking for a penlty. I accept the argument that he probably got a raw deal on some decisions when he should of got a decision going his way be he didn't still no excuse to dive next match. It's pathetic to be honest. Am I surprised simple answer no, look how Uraguay got into the World Cup semi-finals!
All the great strikers all the quality strikers are a joy to watch! Fowler, Torres, Van Nistleroy, Henry even Owen in his youth, Brazlilian Ronaldo Romario, quality like Raul Del Piero top class strikers legends to their respectvie fans and clubs. For me whereas I think Suarez has that little bit of quality he's a liabilty if we were to lose him for 25 million to bring in 2 strikers that could do what he does I wouldn't be too upset. And there is quality out there, Solado, Llornte, Ledowanski and more. Maybe he needs somebody up front with him but for me he's not the player I belived he was and I really believed he was going to be a big hit. He has but for the wrong reasons. My view that's all not raining on people's parade whether you worship him or not I feel we can do better.

If he gets on a hot streak with goals, he will be unstoppable. he is one of the very few that can take on the best defences and beat them by himself

You could say the same about gerrard, more bad games then good and the team seems to do better without but would you get rid of him?

I agree with some of your points. But he is getting a lot more mature these days, he has the potential to behave like a prat (the dive recently) but I see that one as being out of total frustration after so many going against him, it doesn't excuse it but I can understand it. If ballotelli or Rooney had that run of bad luck and un fairness I'm sure we would have seen a bigger incident than a dive, even Suarez last year would have done something a lot more stupid. Also you have named a lot of very good strikers there but suarez is not that type of player, he's being asked to play in that position but he needs to play behind someone like a torres or van nistlerooy as he's a playmaker and not an out and out striker.
Let's be honest though, he's a great player, but also a little $hit who let's us down badly now and again.
If we had 3 or 4 good strikers at the club I would happily get rid but we don't so we need to keep him.
I doubt any team is going to be built around him or any other individual. I see us building a team around a core group of players so the emphasis is more on team work. The team over the last decade has been all about gerrard and everything goes through him and it's predictable, also the team crumbles when he's not there. (or at least it used to, it's quite the opposite now)
Suarez needs to grow up a bit still and he will still have a long term place here. We need to utilise him properly though. We need a proper striker and he needs to stay out of the papers.

MIKEY

If he's not worth building a team around, why did it cost us points when he was banned?

Thanks Mikey good reply to my post and your right I named some quality strikers and it probably not fair to compare him to those as he's not that type of player. His shot off target ratio is a serious problem. His nutmegs won't work forever also. But your right to get rid of him now while we haven't got another to replace him would be sucidal, very rarely new players hit the ground running. He can be a very annoying little s#$ep with his antics. I do like him as a player he can brilliant at times but terrible at other times. He is the type of player that fits in FSG theory, maybe get him sold in 2-3 years time nice re-sale value on him and at that time we maybe have 3 quality strikers at the club and we've progressed as a team and are more stable. He'll probably score 6 against Reading now!

I really can't believe some of the stuff on here regarding LFC players. Sure Luis has his so called "demons" but to want to get rid is boardering on ludicorous. The guy is a top draw player and still only 25.

Yes he has to learn about "English" ways but maybe thats us, the press and the general media being a little xenophobic? Everyone in football knows foreign players tend to fall over at the slightest touch. They all have or still do it but lets not condemn Luis because the media say we should....As for scoring goals, he has 7 so far this season, 28 in 68 games, in a TEAM that has struggled to score yet it's all his fault if some on here are to be believed, really?

Also I have seen comments recently about Joe Allen asking what he provides for £15m and also (and I put this down to MOD-Shearer!) stating he only passes the ball back or sideways. This boy is the nearest I have seen to Ronnie Whelan for his reading of the game and for almost always making the right choice with a pass. Granted he doesn't score as many as Whelan but who can predict he won't?

Really guys get a grip, watch the game for yourselves, ignore stupid comments made by ex players (who should, but don't know better) and the media and make your own mind up!..........TMac

Worst post of the decade. Luis suarez has a winning mentality that is second to none the sooner he gets help up front the better wait and see the damage he does then.

gee man

Hello to my lovely Liverpool fans, who are always up for some good banter... It has been a while but I think it is about time I added my two cents to the Liverpool season. Firstly, I think the lack of funds that your owners have provided is a blessing for LFC as it means your manager is forced to look at the young players available to him. In previous posts I have bemoaned the lack of young players playing in the first team, although I have not targeted just Liverpool in this area. Players like Stirling and Jonjo have already stood out this season, and hopefully they can get more playing time to show what they can do “ this is not only a brucie bonus for Liverpool, but also England.

Also, whilst Suarez enjoys god like status on Merseyside, I still think he is bad for LFC. Taking away the old racism row, his recent Tom Daley esk skills on the pitch are nothing short of embarrassing for the club. He is a class act and should not be dropping his standards of play and give easy ammo to the LFC haters.

Whilst LFC have not won many matches this season, there are shoots of recovery for all to be seen, pass and move etc is a delight to see and I have thought that they have been unlucky in several matches. I think that a new striker or two in January is a must and have heard names ranging from Sturridge to Bent, both of whom who do well at LFC, as long as your owners stick their hands in their pockets that is.

I expect the usual triage of abuse and comedy responses “ I would be offended if they did not come, along with the more intelligent comments.

TOONAL

I actually agree. ha

Good intelligent post with fair comments from a non tunnel vision opposition supporter. We have too many of them as do most clubs. The reasoned debate that's good over a bevvy. well done

I think you where spot on actually mate.
I'm one of these football fans who would rather see really good football than trophies.
It's obviously a bonus to get trophies but if I'm paying £50 a ticket I want to be entertained and that's what we have got.
Our youngsters are top draw it's great to see so many in the team after such a dry spell from the academy. There are still a few youngsters that are almost ready to make the jump as well. I'm looking forward to seeing yesil and robinson make some starts.
A striker is a must in january, not 2 though. Borini will be back and I wouldn't want to stop yesil coming into the team.
I feel Liverpool are heading in the right direction with the manager and style of play. We have the youngsters providing a stable foundation on which to emulate what united and then barcelona did.
I can see us being very competitive in the near future, maybe not enjoying the success Barcelona has had of recent times but not a million miles away either.

MIKEY

Fair dos toonal- not said anything too prickly there mate. spot on in the most part actually!

you'll get a few people say people like bent aren't good enough, and i agree to an extent but we need someone, darare i say it, anyone- who can find the back of the net on a regular basis that our build up play deserves...

cheers pal...

Perhaps you should look up triage in the dictionary before you invite responses

Redpath

I am surprised at how many supporters of other teams spend their time commenting or criticising LFC.
I don't even have a view about Newcastle Tooney.
I think that says it all
Good luck to you fella

18 Oct 2012 12:48:25
Nice post mate!

As much as Suarez is a great footballer, a bid that comes in around Torres price cannot be ignored - and considering Suarez is happy at the club and playing well (two things Torres was not) we should be receiving a much larger bid.

Alright lads, im going to the match on saturday and just need a rough idea on how much to bring. Im flying over from Dublin so need to know how much is it (on average) for a pint, and taxi fare from airport and so on. It would be much appreciated!

Barry B

About 15- 19 stg for taxi to town pints different prices i would take 50 quid extra for the nice ladys who like to dance.if u like a good drink i would take 100 a day just to be safe.
donegal red

Book a local taxi from the airport and ask to be picked up from drop off. The black cabs are very expensive and you get a cheeky £1.50 charge just for leaving the airport.

MIKEY

Depends what you drink and where. Around ground £1.90-2.10 a Bitter.Lager bout 3 quid-3.20. Guiness 3.20-3.60.Town depends wether trendy or old fashioned.between 50p and quid ontop've those prices above.Speke fair way out-hard to say cab fare.Maybe tenna-12 quid,unsure

Thanks Lads

Hi Eds and fellow Reds,
Do you think it would be impossible for us to get Leighton Baines off of Everton? Would love home here, best left back in the Premier League in my opinion. {Ed002's Note - I would doubt it will happen.}

Another clueless fan! He's due hard Everton

Baines is a self confessed Liverpool fan..

YNWA! (Adam)

To the poster who called the OP clieless i believe baines himself has said he supports liverpool plus he never mentioned anything about the team he supports so u kno yeah. cheers CRAIG

My girlfriends mum was good friends with his mum when they lived in Liverpool, she's never met Leighton Baines but his whole family are hardcore LFC supporters...having said that it doesn't mean he'll come to
us, remember Carra and God were blues before they played for LFC.

Which is the most important? To avoid conceding goals? Or ensure you score goals?

Both. Of course. Unless you enjoy constantly drawing games

18 Oct 2012 10:26:42
Always score more goals than u concede, as long as u win clean sheets don't necessarily matter. Both Barca and Madrid concede goals (sometimes are even first to concede), but they score more than the opposition.
Bas!cs.

Look at Newcastle in the Keegan era, attack the best form of defence... although there were some amazing matches to watch 4 - 3 etc etc, it did not actually bring any sucess.

A combination of the both with a stable club is the best of both worlds.

Toonal

Scoring goals.
That's why we are so low down the table.
I hate defensive football myself I would rather take a team out of a game by scoring 3,4 or 5 than parking the bus.

Just a quick note on our striking situation.Now we know Borini is out for a while ,do any fans really think Ngoo or Morgan are in anyway good enough to play for the first team ? I know things are difficult but I would rather see others - Pacheco,Yesil ect...
Ngoo is greedy and never looks for options and Morgan cannot keep or hold the ball up.Both poor and should be moved on ? Thoughts.

DJC

This is all FSG fault they are the tightest owners we would not have a problem if they paid for Dempsey. Now they will see how far we go getting rid of all the players we did and buying hot air.

I think Morgan should be given another chance in the first time, he played quite well in his first start in the Europa League.
Havent seen enough of Ngoo to judge him but Yesil seems to know where the goal is.
Wish people would stop blaming FSG. Said it once and I will say it again: THEY GIVE KENNY OVER £100 MILLION AND HE AND COMOLLI WASTED IT!
The only good player to come from that period was Suarez!
No wonder they are holding back in the transfer market now, by the time we have sold the players who we bought they will have lost around £50-£60 million.
Also, they are sorting the stadium out now WHICH COSTS MONEY!
I wouldn't want to do a City and buy success because the likes of Sterling, Suso, Wisdom and Shelvey wouldn't get a look in on the first team and these are the only positives from the season so far.

Jay

I know, all they do is throw 100million plus into the club!

Sry jay mate our net spent in tranfer market was 25/30M the 100m your talking it came from sales

Torres-50M
Raul-12M
Babel-6M
Ngong-4m
if we only talk about money spent on transfer. And this year again they net spend is 30M it takes 60M net spent total since they have bought our club which is not enough for a club like liverpool who want to fight for titles and champion league again. {Ed002's Note - Clearly there is no end to the grizzling. Get there on Facebook and Twitter with the others and force the owners out - you won't be happy until then. What was that reputation the Liverpool fans once had?}

We won't know until they are given the chance. I had no idea Stirling or suso would be as good as they have been at such a young age. But the youngsters seem to have been playing a version of tiki taka in the accademy for years and seem to suit it more than the senior players.
I can see yesil being the next to get a chance.

MIKEY

Ngoo maybe greedy but think his strength would bring others in. Overall dont think any are really ready. Could try Sterling upfront with Downing wide i suppose. Or push Paceco or Suso uptop. Fact is its make do we NEED the finished product. DID in Jan, more so now! In fact two strikers would'nt go amiss!

Yes Red Raw but they've gone from one extreme to the other. Middle ground would've been key with K.D's reign, and should be now with B.r's

Love the way everyone forgets that we got 50 back from Torres,10+ from merieles and a few more, fsg probably have broke even since they started {Ed002's Note - Try the search function and see how the owners have picked up the tab for the £50M losses over each of the past two years.}

They had more or less that 100mil back ffs, if u sell strikers u need replace them no matter what. If suarez picks up his ban thats obviously coming to him sooner or later while borini is out we`ll see how many change there minds on FSG.

Ed 002 nobody said get the owners out, just they need put some cash into the team, if my boiler breaks down i`ll borrow money to get it fixed. i understand its a long term project but we taking far to many steps backwards before moving forwards. surely a 10-20mil debt to fix a much needed striker problem isnt a big ask. {Ed002's Note - Why is it so hard to grasp that the owners have paid the £50M loss that Liverpool had over each of the past two seasons. They then invested more than £30M net with fees this summer putting the club in the top ten world-wide spending. The manager has given a chance to some of the youngsters. FSG truly do not deserve many the Liverpool fans who seem to do no more than crave the spending of large amounts of money - regardless of who it is on.}

They've not gone from one extreme to the other they just learnt from Kenny's poor signings. You can't invest 100million into a team every year, especially if you're seeing no return for it.

Red Raw

I understand what they spent Ed but being in the top ten spenders means nothing really, a lot of clubs across europe have built there squads whilst LFC are clearly rebuilding. If we`ve spent enough to be in the top 10 then why is our squad so thin? and yes he plays the youngsters mainly cos he has no options, a blessing in disguise really. {Ed002's Note - So how many years will this period of transition last? Other clubs manage to keep up performances whilst squads are rebuilt.}

Your all forgetting Yesil too. 32 goals in 33 internationals even at youth level it's impressive.

So ed2 you have forgoten mate we are 15/16 in the table which is unexceptable for club of this stature at the same time we are turning in to midtable club slowly by slowly and you want fans shouldn't say anything. Oh I forgot according to you only RUSSIAN MAFIA MONEY SHOULD BE SPEND {Ed002's Note - Your last sentence pretty much sums you up. Feel free to lie or abuse me if you can't get the owners out. If they were to float the club as an exit route would that make you happy?}

Thank you Ed, some body who speaks some sense, FSG are doing the right thing running the club this way, if they dont have £100 million to spend every summer on new players then they aren't going to borrow that amount just to appease the fans, thats exactly what Hicks and Gillet done, borrow money they didn't have, put the debt against the club and look where it got us.
FSG are building slowly but surely, they didnt have to come and rescue us from the brink of liquidation, invest what ever amount it is into the squad and agree to redevelop anfield.
Just because City, Chelsea and PSG spend stupid amounts doesn't mean thats the correct way to run a football club.

Jay

40 years in the wilderness of transition just like moses then some bearded geezer will lead us to the promised land.

Will Carra have a beard in say 19 years?

18 Oct 2012 13:05:17
Ed what about chelsea having loses of more then 70m and still spend big but you don't criticise them do you? Or you only criticise liverpool fans for wanting better for the club {Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with Chelsea. The Liverpool fans who get criticised are those who abuse the owners, abuse and threaten Mrs Henry and want the owners out. The fans fail to see that Dalglish wasted millions but the owners are still blamed for it.}

18 Oct 2012 13:43:16
Ed2 you say Dalglish wasted the money as far as I know camolli was brought by fsg to negotiate the deals so how can dalglish waste the money or you think there is no need to point out camolli who is the biggest culprit {Ed002's Note - The choice of players was Dalglish's. Employing Comolli was a mistake by the owners - which I pointed out at the time.}

Some of the fans on here make me ashamed to be a Liverpool fan

It is because of Dalglish's standing in the clubs history that some fans refuse to accept that he wasted an astronomical amount of money. I put the blame massively for our current plight on Kenny's atrocious transfer dealings. It set us back years.

I for one am fully behind Rodgers and FSG and long may they continue.

Ash

I feel if Kenny was given another season he could have maybe improved the players he had brought in.
We all know Henderson has potential but I feel Kenny could have developed him if he played him more centrally.
We all saw how well Carroll played at the end of last season, almost won the FA Cup for us on his own so he could have brought that form into this season.
No one will ever know about Downing, he hasn't got a chance now coz he knows he isnt wanted but if Kenny was still here he would have had more game time.
It will always be known that he payed over the odds for players but that could be blamed on Comolli, at least if the individual performances were better we could say that although we over paid, they are contributing to the team. Carroll's price tag wouldn't have bothered me if he scored 15 to 20 goals last season.

Gutted about Borini we have one senior striker left who's not even an out an out striker! Obviously Morgan an Yesil will see chances from the bench but one thing looks certain an that's Assaidi will get a long run in the team, or I can see BR playing Gerrard there (or Suso preferably) while Shelvey takes up the midfield role with Allen and Sahin, either way there are still options.

Square tomato

Agree, Ngoo would maybe cause problems with his strength.We should'nt be in this situ. Kenny and Commoli both responsible for wasting cash, however FSG installed Rodgers and its a New regimme. Hardly think their being totally fair on him. Their hamstringing him for previos regimmes mistakes.Not saying(prob aint got anyhow)Give him 100m. But they installed him and though their adopting a new(younger player) policy. They need to back him more then they have. Results alone proved the new policy even in Last window is flawed. You blend experience with youth.And were desperate for a proven goalscorer. Now maybe even two-were that thin on the ground

Yesil is the man, scoring goals for fun at the moment. Ok, he's young but the potential is there for all to see....

Hi eds,reds.Would like to see BR go after Lakaku.Big strong boy,only young and knows where the goal is !! B

And why would chelsea let him go to LFC unless we made a ridicoulus offer?
Get real plz...

Unless Ed,002 would seduce Roman to sell Lukaku to us to save herself from getting bombarded with stupid questions until another transfer window arrives, I dont see a reason why chelsea would sell him to us..
