Any manager deserves 2 years then again FSG did massive mistake to sack kenny even manager like fergusson wouldn't do any better in his first season as lfc manager. Problem is we have to develope winning mentality. Fergie biggest succes is he developed winning mantality it doesn't matter what players he plays or tactics. If you see his squad compare to arsenal or chelsea or city its weak but again he wins trophs and has been doing for few years first it was Arsenal vs manchester unted competing for league then chelsea vs united competing for league then city vs united competing fot league. Teams changes but united are always there competing. We should give rodgers atleast 2 years and see where he takes us

Absolutely.
BR ha to be given time to settle the squad.
It would be a disaster to change the manager 'again'!.

Pity we can't re-instate Kenny then is't it?

BR will bring us nowhere and realistically we don't the funds to entice a new manager of sufficient calibre

Sphericals. We have a young manager and the average age of the team will also get younger over the next couple of years. They - manager & team, will grow together.

A lot of fans are forgeting there is a big difference betwween epl and German league in epl there are a lot of teams who are competive compare to German league. If Dortmund would be playing in epl they would be finishing 7/8 where if liverpool would play in italy or german league we could even win the league and qualify for champions league every year. There is no league who have teams like Arsenal or chelsea or manchester city or manchester united or spurs or liverpool to comptete at the same time every year gap is reducing between big teams and small teams. Eg: newcastle or everton {Ed001's Note - are you being serious? The Bundesliga is extremely competitive!}
---------------------------------------
Ed1 let's be honest bundesliga is not hard compare to epl. Epl is only the league with 4/5 big clubs compare to any league in the world. We have got clubs here that are bigger then bayern which is biggest club in bundesliga. You can't ignore the difference mate. {Ed001's Note - what the hell has that to do with anything? Nonsense comment, talking total irrelevance, and is clueless in the extreme. Are you trying to suggest Dortmund and Bayern are little clubs? What 4 or 5 clubs from England would compete in Spain? Real Madrid ripped City apart and they are struggling in Spain. You are ignorant, completely ignorant, of just how huge a club Bayern are. It is embarrassing.}

Mo the bundesliga is right up there with the epl and la liga. bayern, dortmund and schalke n bayer leverkusen r top teams imo.
And can the OP plz explain how Bayern is a small club? Even as a true liverpool fan, i still feel bayern at this point of time is a bigger club than us, and the mancs as well. Chelsea n arsenal r not even close to matching them.
Indian Buzzer

What absolute cr*p.
The German league is top notch.

To call for BR head only 4 games in is utter tosh. Give the guy a chance ffs.

My only hope is FSG are not sticking their noses in too much in the footballing side of things. These men are business men, not footballers.

I think BR will make us a success, it will take a season or two. I also think when we do get there, and the deals are rolling in, FSG will sell up imo.

Give BR a chance,he also has to adapt to managing a big club which is completely different to managing the likes of Swansea(no offence).

when are we gonna hear one way or the other on whats happening with the stadium issue.I mean it's been what 2 years since they took over.How long does it take,or are they stalling for time?.

There's more issues behind the scenes regarding stadium expansion than you imagine.

Yeah, the main issue is 'lack of money'.
FSG have bitten off too much!.
Maybe arrogance.

FFS we cant pay 6M for dempsey

No chance a new Stadium while FSG run the shop

I'm with Macca on Rodgers I don't know why but just have a feeling about him,heard him interviewed on 5live at the end of last season,it wasn't just the way he spoke about football but life & the death of his parents comes across as very intelligent & was made up when he brought joe Allen (Pythagoras in boots!) with him good ideals good football.
Paisley's genius

Lol Pythagoras in boots - reminds me of the Monty Python skit German vs. Greek Philosophers. Absolute classic.

18 Sep 2012 21:08:04
Sorry Macca it does'nt really matter how good Rodgers is if there is'nt the talent on the pitch.

You believed the owners would back Rodgers in the transfer market and they did'nt, grim times ahead I feel.

Come Jan if we are way off the pace and we don't immensely strengthen the squad the likes of Suarez, Agger, Reina will all be off.

I personally think Rodgers deserves two season's, then again I thought Kenny did to.

The simple fact of the matter is the owners messed up and BR is gna get the blame for it....i wouldnt mind BR getting time but honestly i wanted benitez back

18 Sep 2012 20:58:57
Hey Macca, loads of comments saying we are looking at Lorente, do you know of any truth in the rumours.

18 Sep 2012 20:58:29
Macca, In relation to your post yesterday about Rodgers I Agee with u and I think the main reason we are in this state is because off all the changes over the last two years.. Now it's time to be patient with ONE manager and I am delighted its Rodgers because if it's going to take time at least we are playing nice football.. While your there what is your taught on the rumour that we might get a panel of football people to assist Brendan

Merseyside utd the envy of other cities, we can have a friendly rivalry and stand together totally agree. We have shown it before and will show it again.
Why can't we 2 great clubs ground share then ?
It has been suggested on efc site The Justice Stadium.

Thoughts !

Lowe that duck....we can stick together at sad and happy times but no way sharing a stadium when it comes to football there are no friends

Both AC Milan and Inter share a stadium, same with both Munich teams. ( and as far as I know, a third team shares with Bayern and 1860 Munich).
Why can't Everton and Liverpool share a stadium?

If we can save money and get good players then we have to think of sharing a ground . we have to adapt to compete with the rich clubs if we do not we could be playing at anfield in the championship and no matter what people say the kop will not be as loud then

I can't help thinking that ground sharing is like an adult version of bedroom sharing with your older brother when you were a kid - bit like Jonny Briggs; Cheapest viable option.

I'd drop reina for Thursday! I'd rather Hendo in goal

That's exactly why you aren't the Liverpool boss.

Anyone heading for the game thursday night in Bern? If so is there a pub earmarked for Liverpool fans to have a pint before or after the game?

i have had agood laugh at all the fans saying we need to give br time & a chance,which i would also like to see happen .but put it this he will be giving time because the owners wouldnt spend on the final day of the transfer window because they havent got it ,so they wont sack br cause if they did they would have to pay him & his staff anice few million .eg.(roy hodgson)he got 7mill when he got sacked ,,so like it or not br will be given time .hopfully well convert the chances we create against utd on sunday if we do we,ll win ive got great faith br &the style of play the 1 thing that worries me is plan b we have no plan b when we were drawing with sunderland we were playing it around at the back instead of going up the field to try & get awinner.my only concern

18 Sep 2012 18:55:20
I firmly believe Brendan is the right man for us. We must give him time and all the support. Hes a very good young coach and I hope that he gets the support for us fans and FSG. Please lets all get behind him and the team!

Eds what your team vs young boys .I whld personally go reina,robbo,skrtel,Coates,Kelly,sahin,hendo,Allen,yesil,downing,borini,subs,asshadi,carra,flano,Jones,sterling,Morgan,suso {Ed001's Note - I don't know, it is difficult with the U21s playing the night before.}

I think its under 19's against Inter with a couple of over age allowed so a bit of thought required to cover both games as well as resting players for Sunday.

Red 1

Most of the regular members of the U21 squad will not be involved in the NextGen Series squad as it's an U19 tournament and the likes of Michael Ngoo and Jack Robinson are now ineligible for it.

Rodolfo Borrell - "This season will be tough because this is a competition for lads born in 1994. Last season we had a bigger and stronger squad but some of them now can't play. The squad will be mostly made up of the U18s team and it is a big opportunity for them to play at a higher level."

Best Guess:

....................Belford

McLaughlin .. Wisdom .. Sama .. Smith

..............Baio .......Lussey

.. Ibe ........... Dunn ....... Morgan

............. Sinclair

Subs: Crump, Maguire, Heaton, Roddan, Pelosi, Peterson, Trickett-Smith

Maybes: Teixeira, Gainford

Nextgen squad: Baio, Belford, Burke, Crump, Dunn, Fernandez, Gainford, Hodzic, Randall, Roddan, Ibe, Sama, Smith, Sterling, Teixeira, Trickett-Smith, Ward, Williams, Wisdom, Pelosi, Jones, Lussey, McLaughlin, Mersin, Morgan, Ortiz, Peterson

Thumbs up for the signing of samed yesil,Im telling u this guy is going to be some player,hence why rodgers is ready to fast track him.I know the coaching staff rate him much higher than morgan.If he does well on thursday,expect a shock inclusion in the team to play utd on sunday.AS a result of yesil's predicted rise,liverpool will only pursue one striker in january most likely to be a loan,with an attacking midfielder also a priority,expect Luciano Vietto to sign for around 5m.

Luciano vietto would be a good signing still very raw will get shaped into a top top player.

Hi eds ! Heard a rumour of Harry rednapp taking over !! Pls say its not true !! If rogers goes rafa for me ! {Ed002's Note - You wouldn't want the dream team of Super Stevie Nicol as manager and Paul Furlong as player/coach then?}

I agree mate rafa is the one who got champions league football and great signings torres arbaloa mascherano alonso dont get why people don't like him

Everyone who disagree, they never saw liverpool playing under benitez, they want harry r who never beat manu under his tottenham managment

Harry redknapp was considered briefly however f.s.g were unimpressed when he turned up for the interview in a yellow reliant robin & the instance that his younger brother Rodney was to be first team coach and his uncle Albert as chief scout.... Paisley's genius

Ed2 what about Nicol under Furlong?

Mighty reds

To the poster who said "they never saw liverpool playing under benitez, they want harry r who never beat manu under his tottenham management", I saw Liverpool under Benitez and that is why I dont want him back, also, I dont want Harry either. There are more than those two choices. For example, my preference, Brendon Rodgers to manage Liverpool.

Hello reds, a blue in peace. Firstly, it is v nice to see some of the kind posts by you guys on our site. I'd like to think, what we did is only what you would have done. This travesty has united us to a large extent and as a young blue born before the disaster, I feel something has changed recently, esp with my generation and our feeling towards the reds.

Anyway, I wanted to ask opinions on a v touchy subject. The dreaded ground share. As you know, we have no money. We will never afford to leave old Goodison park. As much as we love it, it is our Achilles heel. I do worry for the future. Things are going well now, but if the big players keep leaving us and god forbid, we lose Moyes, you never know what might happen. You guys are ok. You have wealthy owners and a huge world presence. I always assumed your desire to not ground share was because you wanted to finish us in the long term. Or you do not want to be associated with our club. But this week made me think, do you really want us finished? Is our rivalry not worth keeping? I'm talking 10 years down the line... A new stadium is something we both need, and it would secure our future forever. EFC would be more investable and there is a chance, both of us could fight at the top like the good old days. Is there any way, the red half would help us out in this respect? All I know is, one day Moyes will leave, one day our budget signings may not come off. One day, we may be in trouble.

So I guess what I'm asking is, would you ground share? If not, then would you take pride out of our potential demise? If answers are No and Yes respectively, then I know im wasting everyone's time here. But if it's Yes and No, then Why can't we make it happen? If anyone could make it work in the Prem, it's us?

To me it is nice to have your own ground and own history to show off in that ground, but on the other side i feel that a ground share would be a good way forward for both clubs. Sharing costs make sence and with a new ground it make encoruage the FA to use the new stadia bringing in more revenue. I know we have a healthy rivalary but we should support each other as we as clubs are both sturggling in the economic market.

Decisions like these must be about long term future and not short term gain. Revenue from stadia and related infrastructure is undeniably important. Such business related decisions do not always consider emotinal aspects, such as supporters feelings about identity, history and rivalry. Business wise it probably makes sense, emotionally I would say not. A dilema potentially for reds and blues? I am sure lots of fellow reds would say no, however if the continued non-movement on regenerating Anfield continues you never can tell if opinions change.

EVO YNWA

Without knowing the financial ins and outs and practicality of it. If it ment Merseyside was to be the powerhouse of the Premier League, in particular the Red side I wouldn't have a problem with it.
JohnnBoy

Sorry, I meant I was born after the disaster. And also writing it in the context that the majority of blues would give anything to have a new stadium, sharing wouldn't be of any concern to most of us for obvious reasons. I know you have great history and that you have your identity. So please think that I am approaching this subject v cautiously and have full respect for your club.

What would happen if both clubs had a home match on the same day?

Personally i would not want a ground share. At the same time i would not want EFC to go down because it is a Scouse club and we should stick together (apart from when we're both dishing out the banter to each other of course)

The Crow. {Ed001's Note - they never have home matches on the same day now, why would a shared stadium affect that??}

I think in the current climate and times it would silly to not look at is as an option!

One thing that really goes against the idea of groundsharing, is the question of what would become of the playing surface, with the pitch being in use on average three times a week? It might sooon become a quagmire.
Otherwise, for me, personally, I think that it could be a financially sound idea, and I have generally viewed Everton as a sort of second favourite, rather than the Antichrist.
Sort the practical problems, and I would be in favour of groundsharing. YNWA one weekend, and Z cars the next!
DJP

It is very easy for me to say I'm completely supportive a ground share and think it a fine idea. To me, the city itself should help fund it in large part along with appropriate sponsorships and obviously some funding from each club. That said, I'm not from Liverpool nor even England, so my thoughts are largely irrelevant on this topic and it's really up to the fine people of Liverpool. {Ed001's Note - groundsharing never works, it just doesn't, hence why all the Italian teams that do so are all looking to build their own stadiums.}

Keep the two old grounds so both teams will always have there history and ground tours ,museum ect and then start a new chapter for both clubs in a new home .half blue half red ,that's the way forward for both clubs , respect to Everton for last night and hopefully a new dawn were the fans realize that they are all from the same city

Nothing to do with we want to finish you, if i had my way we would win the league every season and you would have to suffer the last minute heartbreak of finishing second, kind of like ManUtd and City...

It is just i would want our stadium to be ours... Our home with our trophys and our history.

G BOX

Good subject, there are good points and bad points to a ground share, it would make sense but I know of one point liverpool fans won't want a ground share and that's because the new stadium would have to have a kop end and I don't think Liverpool fans would want to share it will anyone coz that's what sets us apart from all the other grounds! I respect everything about everton n love the derby days as much the next guy but for me it has to our own stadiums

Andy

I would be completely for it... My best mate's a blue and we have been in agreement for years about a groundshare.
It suits both parties....
Maybe its just me.... As I cant speak for everyone but I remember watching the cup final in 86 at the same time as all the kids in the street were having a joint everton and liverpool street party....
Thats what football is about.... Surely.
jonnybarnes89-90

Works for the milan clubs {Ed001's Note - no it does not, both sets of fans and clubs hate it, they would both build their own stadium if they could afford it.}

Don't think you can compare the Milan clubs to the merseyside clubs Ed. their rivalry borders on the satanic. Murder has been known... Allianz arena is the finest example. Red one day, Blue the next. New stadium, one of the best in the world, both teams with civilised fans sharing it. {Ed001's Note - nothing to do with that, they just hate sharing as it doesn't feel like their stadium. Allianz the same, it is Bayern's stadium, the others are just like lodgers.}

It will NOT happen - and it probably should not be sought as an option. As much as there are footballing reasons for this it is much more important from a citywide regeneration perspective that Liverpool has at least two major stadia. Everton must seek a creative solution to their future move that is not necessarily wrapped in the future of LFC and vice versa. Small Brighton have shown what creativity can achieve when there is political willingness to move forward. The problem of both LFC and EFC is not so much money but political unwillingness in Liverpool as a whole to be creative and move forward. As in many things in political life some politicians play politics because it benefits themselves rather than the whole they represent. The city as a whole is (IMHO) politically inept BUT it was that kind of ineptitude in the first place that led to the beginnings of our great Liverpool Football Club!

Ed001

Good points. I agree usurping City and Chelsea is out of the question, for NOW, though.
As you say, with time, BR can do some amazing things here.

I always cite Borussia Dortmund. That's the model we seeking to follow, imo.
They've spent nothing like Bayern, yet have put together very good young teams.
Youth development and bargain shopping did it.

Marco Reus, Sahin, Mario Gotze, Neven Subotic, Lewandowski, Kagawa, Gundogan, Mats Hummels are all exceptional talents, either youth products or bargain buys.

Looking at our own, lads like Suso, Sterling, Jerome Sinclair, Jordan Ibe, Samed Yesil, Adam Morgan, Coates, are immensely talented and can be just as good as, if not better than, those Dortmund lads.
Also, with his age and potential, I consider Joe Allen a massive steal at £15m.

I think we'll do it. And we won't need CL to and buying £25m players on ridiculous wages to do it. a) youth excellence, b) smart manoevring in the market and, crucially, c) the football we seeking to play will be the trump cards.

a) we starting to see slowly with Sterling, Coates and Shelvey and the likes of Suso, Yesil, Sinclair etc are sure to follow suit.
b) refers to such deals as those of Allen, Dembele, Cabaye, Cisse etc.
c) the way we seeking to play, when executed accordingly, inherently gives one an advantage.

Another plus with this approach is the financial benefits.
Fiscal prudence is paramount. Developing and promoting our own (class) youth will save us millions in transfer fees and wages.

That's the way to go, the Dortmund way. Those who want kamikaze megabucks spend are going to have a LONG wait.
It's NOT going to happen. There WON'T be NO sugar daddies... and quite frankly, I like it that way.

BARNEY

Great post BARNEY, i wish people would see this also, maybe it would stop the little whingers from crying about not buying 30 million pound players on big ,big wages , its the clubs money, and we need to use it better , and i think we will under br..............lfc

Spot on Barney,

The Dortmund + Arsenal model is the way forward..
Just please don't sell all our best players.

Phooey

I want to agree, but before I do, can I ask if Borussia Dortmund are competing with teams likes Chelsea and City who spend megabucks on fees and wages?

I think Dortmund have a fine model and one which should be envied, but they do have what I think is an advantage and that seems to be the ability to recruit from outside the EU more easily than say Liverpool could. The purchase of Kagawa for peanuts is one example- I don't think we could have done the same?

A lot of fans are forgeting there is a big difference betwween epl and German league in epl there ara a lot of teams who are competive compare to German league. If Dortmund would be playing in epl they would be finishing 7/8 where if liverpool would play in italy or german league we could even win the league and qualify for champions league every year. hi eds or anyone in the know can someone tell me when did craig johnson finish playing for lfc. ive an autographed lfc notepaper and was told it was from after hillsborough.
billy {Ed002's Note - 1988}

Thanks eds. it therfore means my notepaper is 88 not 89. {Ed002's Note - Or earlier of course.}

He came back to liverpool just after,to be with the players,but he left in 88.to go back to oz,as there was an illness in his family.

If you have access take a look at the hour long interview with Craig on LFC TV. It's a real tear jerker for all fans, whether Liverpool fans or not.
The guy gave up his career to take care of his sister, but has some remarkable stories about his time at LFC and in the aftermath of Hillsborough...a real bona fide top bloke!

Marshy

Craig Johnston officially retired on the 15th of May, 1988, the day after the FA Cup Final against Wimbledon.

I would agree 100% with Marshy, the man is indeed a gent and it is not until you actually watch a programme like - "Sixty minutes with ..." that you appreciate how much the man loved, and realised how fortunate he was to play for a club like Liverpool.

He sometimes is accused of having an air of arrogance, however this accusations are totally misguided, the man is intelligent, articulate, emotional and very passionate, although I don't think he suffers "fools" lightly (except Brucie of course).

Whilst in Australia I met his youth coach from Lake Macquarie (Newcastle) a couple of times, who said of Craig that there were numerous players who had far more skill and talent then him however they certainly didn't have his drive and determination. They naively thought that the English clubs would come and find them but Johnston wrote off to clubs saying here I am (he mentions this in his interview).

I tip my hat to Craig Johnston, a man who has suffered and endured many heartaches in his life but still manages to raise a smile, and a man who certainly knows how special Liverpool FC is!

I met him in china town one night in wongs real gentleman must have been about 1987 when i lived down in L1 by the bowly

I must say I totally agree with all of Brendan Rodgers player assesments so far. Carroll was never a Liverpool player although he may prove successful at another club like West Ham (also he was signed for twice what he was worth). Downing is shocking Henderson is average as is Enrique.I couldnt believe we signed henderson for close to 20m when johnjoe was already at the club the same with downing when we had sterling.As much as I love Kenny (my favourite liverpool player of all time) he and Comolli did serious damage in the transfer market. Pity Rodgers is not going to get the same financial backing as so far his signings look promising Joe Allen is perfect for us Borini will improve and I am looking forward to seeing Yesil in Europa league , just wanted to say I think Rodgers is going in the right direction and deserves our support.

I agree on everything, but you cant blame Kenny for buying Downing, when Sterling was hardly recognized at the time, for a first team appearance.

anyone see charlie adam dominate against city at the weekend

Adam does not have the mobility to fit into our new style of play, good luck to the lad, but our players have to do their own running and not rely on others to do it for them.

Ed001, what's your take on Assaidi? You rate the lad? How do you see him taking to the Prem?
Also, your expectations and impressions on BR and the team thus far?
Would appreciate your views, mate.

BARNEY {Ed001's Note - not seen him play, no idea what to think of him sorry. Expectations? If given the chance, I think he will take us far as he is allowed to. The problem is that we simply do not have the funds to compete with Chelsea and City, so we really can only hope to challenge them. I do like the way Rodgers wants us to play, possession of the ball is vital and that is how it should be. It takes time to get the players in step, some might never be able to get in step and have to be replaced, but it is the way football should be played.}

The rumour here from Holland is that he came for the money - he was only earning 7000 euro per week at Heerenveen and Ajax offered him 30000. For the money that he will be getting at Liverpool he is quite happy to sit on the bench. It hope that it is not true as from what I have seen of him he is going to be a great asset at Liverpool. Only time will tell.
Dutchmal

Good question Barney..
I was thinking the same myself, Cheers Edd

Phooey...

He is getting 21k here , so if ajax offered 30 k he didn't came here to warm benches and earn the money...

Assaidi id on between 20k and 25k a week mate. If you say Ajax offered him 30k and he was indeed after the money, he would still be playing in Holland. Person!

Really looking foreward to Thursday, a chance to get to see some of our quality youth in action!
My team would be

Reina

Kelly Coates Carragher Robinson

Henderson Sahin Suso

Downing Yesil aissidi

I know It won't be but that's what I would like even with sama instead of carragher.
Would also like to see Ngoo on the bench, sterling to get a rest

Kind regards

The southern red

Yeh - Is that Carragher's son because let's face it Jamie is neither youth or quality!
DM2012

I would replace kelly for flanagan for that game

GlJosh

Quality does not go in the same sentence as Carragher, Henderson or Kelly. Carragher youthful?? Are you having a laugh

For people who are incapable of understanding basic English, what I refer to is the fact that we will be able to use SOME quality youth, obviously we aren't gonna put out are U21 team, the rest will be squad players who need game time.

Kind regards

The southern red

I find it offensive how people talk about fading stars... Carragher has been a mountain for LFC and still has quality!

We still need a team of Carraghers...

I thought we needed a team of GOAL-SCORERS. How many has Carragher scored - is it FOUR (not counting the own goals)!

Hicks: Was he really that bad?

Everyone was a big fan of him in 2005, it was a starting of professional football management.

Arsenal built the Emirates Stadium, a hugely more complex project in inner-city Islington than digging up a Victorian park will be in Liverpool, with no such personal funding or guarantees.

The Emirates was financed with £260m borrowed on the stadium's commercial merits, a genuine mortgage‑style investment recognised as the stand-out sensible Premier League borrowing in a morass of "living the dream" and leveraged buyouts. Having reduced their net debt steadily to £190m, Arsenal are scampering to the end of their fourth season at the Emirates with a Premier League title in realistic sight, while Liverpool, whose takeover dragged them back far behind where they were in 2007, are scrapping earnestly for fourth place.

In their official offer document, Hicks and Gillett set out that they were paying £174.1m for Liverpool, plus £11m that the professionals, including NM Rothschild, the bank, were charging for their services. Hicks and Gillett borrowed all £185m from RBS and took on further borrowing facilities of £113m for investment in the club: £298m potentially borrowed in total. Before their takeover, Liverpool had net debts of £44.8m.

They borrowed 298million. Why didn't they borrow more so they could build the stadium {Ed001's Note - because the bottom dropped out of the financial markets and no one would lend them money to build a stadium. As for Arsenal, they are still struggling with debt, they still don't have money to spend, due to paying for the debt the stadium put them in.}

I'm, not discrediting our post at all. But.....Anyone with that kinda money, is most probably evil, even our current owner, but thats life

H&G didn't borrow the money - that's the point. H&G borrowed the money via the club so the debt was loaded onto the club's books not that pair of loveable rascals. RED LENIN

I know the guy you mean, sits on a chair and sucks his little finger, while stroking his pussy!

Pure EVIL...

so does BR have a hard time teaching people like Garrard who think they own the club. Is that why sterling is playing and improving, but the rest of them are useless.

Firstly it's Gerrard! Secondly... He is the captain and has earnt a position to comment! Thirdly how does he profess to own the club!

Now that the Transfer Window has shut, and the rumours will die off for a few weeks, does anyone have any news in regard the stadium situation?

We are moving into a cardboard box to save money, but the naming rights will pay for the big move.

Why don't they just borrow the money, they have 200million to borrow against. Do a arsenal style mortage {Ed001's Note - because it is not possible in the current world. This kind of nonsense helps no one. It is not rocket science, we all know the world's economies are on their backsides and no one is lending out money.}

Apparently Comolli wanted to bring Torres back in summer. Its a shame he burnt his bridges with us because I think he is exactly what we are looking for up front. OK, not been at his best for a while but he is 28 and could be great for another 3-4 years with the right attitude and backing.

My concern is our alternatives, we are looking at potentially good but unproven in the premiership strikers. Don't know the answer, just wondering what others thoughts are on who we should be going for and can actually get.

Torres all the time for me

The Torres situation is how business should be done, buy lower than you sell for. He will never be the same player again and we made a lot of money from him. I loved him as a Liverpool player but the speed will be the same again and his confidence isnt there. Good luck to him for the rest of his career. The less I hear from Comolli, the better.

Ed,

How is the training under Brendan Rodgers different from that under Kenny Dalglish?

For example, both employ a pass and move approach but the pace of the build up was much faster under Kenny during games..

It would be wonderful if you could shed some light on them....

LiverBird {Ed001's Note - from what I can find out, the training is much harder now and even more focused on ballwork now.}

Rodgers is short, sharp one touch. Loads of movement of the ball and the players interchanging their positions.

Yeah under kenny the positioning was a bit rigid..clearly 442 at most times..

The difference is that BR is short passes, but holding and slow play. There is not that much tempo and it is not very fast moving. Kenny was older style pass and move. That said, a fair old long balls were played against Sunderland on the weekend. if we'd have had Carroll up front, we'd have won.

Everton were fantastic in there support last night, was great to see one of footballs greatest rivalries put aside in support of a greater cause.
Everton also went on to play some very entertaining and attacking football, was good to watch, I know people have been saying it for yours but truly, what a job David Moyes has done there, taking Everton from lower half of the table year in year out to top four potential. Just goes to show what happens when you give a manager time..., get the doubters behind Brendan Rodgers and let's see what he can do with our club.

Anfield Andy

Well said, thank you to all everton fans, Rodgers will come good, n I'm giving him my full support

So you want to give Rodgers roughly 11 years with no trophy's won, and assemble a team that might get a top 7 position in the league! Your reaching for the stars there lad, we can only dream to be in Evertons position! My god were do we get these clowns come from!!

Waro

I think a lot who come on the site forget that they are Liverpool FANS , Back biteing each other , go and support some 1 else because WE dont need support like you, IMO

Muggitzo

Waro, you lower the tone and the moral dignity of our fans - you are exactly the kind of person that misses the point and later claims he understood it all along! You fight without cause or triumph because you have nothing greater than yourself in your mind. The 96 deserves a better legacy that people like you!

Agree with above poster,Waro,u need to chill. He was making a point and that point is valid. However you choose to interpret it.

Ed2 mate honestly do you think if Rodgers doesn't improve eg in 20/25 games. Will owners stick with him or sack him {Ed002's Note - If Liverpool only have 2 pts after 20/25 games he will be sacked.}

Ed002, we will be relegated aswell with 2 point in 25 games h

Can I just remind everyone that we're playing Young Boys FC not literally young boys. Because it seems everyone wants to play almost a third team out there.

Tin tin is going to play looks a good talent.

We have a bigger game on Sunday, so the youth team should play on Thursday. I wouldn't even take any of the first team squad on the plane.

Young boys very nearly roasted spurs a couple of years ago,they are to be taken seriously
NAVANRED

Way to understand that our under 21s have an important NextGen game against Inter on Wednesday. Dohhhh!

I think the europa league will cock up our season if we don't play the reserves in it

Simply put; no-one that can't physically be in top shape after playing Thursday and be ready for prime fitness on Sunday should be picked to play. Gerrard, Johnson and Agger, for examples, due to age, fitness and fragility. Players like Allen, Shelvey, Skrtel and Borini can start because they are physically able to give 100% Thursday and then again on Sunday. I would start a mix of youth and experience.

Reina

Flanno Coates Skrtel Robinson

Allen

Suso Sahin

Borini Yesil Pacheco

Subs: Jones, Carragher, Kelly, Shelvey, Henderson, Downing, Morgan

SpudRed

Nice line up , but i'll make shelvey start to replace allen , he needs rest ...

Agree with everything except Yesil. I would give Morgan the nod first,If Assiadi hasn't played a game,i doubt Yesil gets the start. Still an unknown Quantity IMO.
I do agree though,that squad has the right mix of age and experience.

Heya Eds, great site keep up the great work. Reports from Spain saying Llorente is free to discuss his future with other clubs in January. Any chance of us getting him? Are we interested in him and would he be interested in coming to us?? Please reply. {Ed002's Note - Search engine.}
