Raheem Sterling, Jesus Fernandez, Tom Ince, Conor Coady, Jack Robinson, Jon Flanagan, Andre Wisdom, Adam Morgan and Toni Silva. Along with Shelvey, Wilson and Kelly, we have 12 extremely exciting youngsters who could form the backbone of our squad for many years to come. But in football, nothing is guaranteed and on the flipside we can speculate that many other talented youngsters will ultimately see their futures lying away from Liverpool. I'm thinking of the likes of Gerardo Bruna, Nikola Saric, Chris Mavinga, Michael Sama, Michael Roberts, Steve Irwin, Emanuel Mendy, David Amoo, Kristian Adorjan and Alex Cooper. And what of Jay Spearing, Stephen Darby, Nathan Eccleston and David Ngog? Will there be a place in the 25 man squad for any of these in a year or two?

Finally, I would like to suggest one other name that could well become worthy of the same kind of plaudits and hype being showered upon Sterling etc. That person is Michael Ngoo, from what I have seen, he seems to possess that something special that may also elevate him to first team consideration in the not too distant future. Any thoughts?

Hey shoe shine.

I see what you mean that other talented youth at the club may move on to further their careers but that is in the end unimportant. What we have to ensure is that the top class youth we have is kept and comes through our ranks. Any decent but not 'LFC standard' youth should be trained hard and maybe sold for a decent amount. This may sound harsh but the reality is if your not gonna make it for us then we should get as much as poss from our coaches doing the leg work to get you up to a decent standard.

We also have to acknowledge the fact that we may sell a youth player ocassionally who doesn't look like they'll do the job for us but end up being class at other clubs. Some players develop late, some thrieve on a disappointment etc. However, this has to be the one that 'disproves the rule'. In gerneral we should be keeping the 'good'uns' for us and letting the other youth go to further their career even though they can't better us. Not only would this enhance our rep as a youth acamdey bringing through 1st team players but it would also show that we can help your career if you don't make the LFC grade. This would mean more talented youth coming to us as they'd know they have a chance making it not just with us but with others. Lets be honest, if you as a kid had a chance to train with the dudes who coached Messi, Xavi, and Inesita and also with King Kenny watching on we're a very attractive option for a young aspiring player.

Finally, i like the look of Kristian Adorjan good delivery from set pieces etc. Maybe have to see more of him but our youth compared to past seasons is so much stronger and that's only with 1 / 2 years work from rodolfo and pep. Goodness knows what it could produce (sterling, suso and coady are enough to convince me we're heading in the right direction) with more time.

So yes we may lose some talented youngters but if we can can keep 90% of them then we're defo onto a winner. The stronger your youth the stronger you long term team will be. Well that 's MHO anyway.

After i seen todays pathetic showing by Man'ure. It makes our boring draw in Prague look that little bit better. Before anyone says that they had their B-team on, remember who was playing (at some stage). Fabio, Rafael, O'Shea, Anderson, Brown, Hernandez, Fletcher, Shrek, Carrick. Most of these players have been regulars in Man'ures 1st team in the past 2-3 seasons.

So everytime you think how bad we played against Sparta. Then remember the Crawley match today, and hopefully you will say "yes our game was bad, but not that bad".

Hey guys, I just wrote an article on "Rotating the Central Midfielders" at ReadLFC.co.uk.

It would be brilliant to hear from some of your thoughts about this or who you think would fit in the central position better then what we have at LFC.

Thanks!

If Kenny is appointed at the end of the season, Turan is a target.

Chelsea's interest in Turan is a way of playing games with Athletico over Aguero. Athletico need the cash from Aguero and have basically said to Chelsea, 'Make us an offer we can't refuse'. . Turan is in Athletico's sights as a replacement and then rumours pop up that Chelsea are interested in Turan. . really!

Mafia boy is in the mood for buying super stars not players like Turan, and Torres is at Chelski hoping for his long lost pal to show up. . my source is HP.

Just a thought if we're after a defender in the summer why don't we go for pepe from real Madrid? I think he's either out of contract in the summer or next summer, so would either be free or fairly cheap because of him refusing talks for a new contract. Although it depends whether we're willing to go for a 27 year old and whether we have champions league next year. RedAsh

Torres is officially as dumb as he looks, at the traditional chelsea karaoke initiation Torres was unsure as to what to sing, after quite a while thinking about the perfect song he chose "you'll never walk alone" which did not go down too well with his new chelski team mates. DOH! :D

Wasn;t that story also told for yossi?

I think having meireles at liverpool must be a big plus for Coentrao if he wants to join us.
Do you think hell join ED?

Harry5:)ynwa

{Editor's Note: No I don't think he will join. If he leaves Benfica this summer he may well move to either Real Madrid or Manchester United.}

Surely we offer the best destination for him over those two don't we? We've got meireles his good friend, there is no competition at left back, he openly said he would prefer us, we have owners who have good ambition and are debt free and our club has very bright future!
Man U have Evra at left back and are debt ridden, Madrid have marcelo and are never going to beat barca to the title, atleast in the premier league anything can happen and any of 6 teams has a chance of winning it each year.

Reports in Spain say Barcelona are going to offer £30mil plus javier mascherano for cesc fabregas. Now if the little rat comes back to England to play for arsenal, then all his excuses about his family not settling and being depressed. He will be exposed for the lying spam bag that he really is!

Hi Ed Im frm South Africa and love ur site keep it up. I think all we really need is a LB and a LW. Move Johnson to RW then we'l only need a LW and a LB. Ed what ever happend to Mavinga? I think he would be a perfect fit at LB. .

{Editor's Note: Mavinga is on loan at Genk.}

Hi ed this is the second time I post my first post did not get a reply and was not even put up. My question was if we were to buy afellay is he a good addition and what 's his position, I have not sen much of him.thanks

hibsylfc

{Editor's Note: I did get a reply - he is primarily a winger.}

19 Feb 2011 21:08:33
Ed just wondering what do you think about going for good english wingers

young-15m
johnson 20m
jarvis-6m

i no that thet are not classed as world class but i believe we need wingers who will hit the ground running and don't need time to settle into the physical demands of the EPL, that is why for me the 2 realistic wingers would be YOUNG AND JARVIS as i can't see citeh letting johnson go.

but we need more than just wingers as LB is a massive problem for us

BAINES-8-10M
ENRIQUE-8M
GIBBS-10M

WHAT DO YOU THINK THEN ED?? ?? PLSE POST

{Editor's Note: Johnson would be an excellent buy if available.}

This probably won't get posted but, is it me or is MUFC Editor's Note neggin everyone out today? Jesus! I know Manure didn't play well but they got the result didn't they.

Looking at the fixtures for Chelsea and Tottenham, I think we've got a decent chance of finishing in the top four, but we've got to pull some good results together to have a chance. Dropping 2 against Wigan was a bit of a blow but not the end of the world.

Hey ed I have a good idea. Why don't you guys take down all the other club pages and just let them little clubs have the general page for all their posts and activity. Then keep the 2 current Liverpool pages. We then could have subpages too like The Irish Reds as me, Kev, Adam and a load of the Irish Born lads could banter. A US Page for us people that live in US like me could participate, An OOT page for all the non Scouse born supporters worldwide that I could participate in. I'd like to see Macca and Blair with their own pages and if The Booter keeps up his posts he can earn his own too. Surely we'd get more traffic on those pages than all of the other little clubs combined. Your thoughts?? ?

+++++This has to be the worst idea for this website I have ever heard, has Hitler been reborn and is now part of the "red army" high off mushrooms. Segregation of posters in to nationality and what not. What is good about the current site is the fact that you get a picture of the wide fan base that the club has and also an understanding of our fellow reds across the globe. Editor your response made me laugh, short and sharp as always when required.+++++

I just wanted to comment on the talk about the possible buys during the summer window. I believe the biggest mistake Liverpool FC could make would be to pay huge money for a winger. We paid huge amounts for 2 forwards, now we need to be careful as to whom we bring in to supply them. Selfless hard working wingers are pretty rare these days as everyone wants to be the new Ronaldo or Messi. However, if we play both Carroll and Suarez up front, the last thing we need would be a winger who'll hog the ball and shoot from ridiculous angles and who won't track back half the time. I believe that these criterias eliminate about half the people regularly mentioned on this site. Marveaux (if signed) might be the ideal player to add to the squad. Everyone else who requires a huge fee and high wages is a risk. And expensive players do not always bring solutions, do they?

I see what you're saying but Kenny has always played with wingers in his successful teams (Barnes, Houghton, Ripley & Wilcox for example) so can't see him changing that now - personally i'd like to see us move for Young & Adam Johnson or Turan if Johnson is unavailable. Then slowly in the next 2 years start giving Sterling his run outs more & more depending on his progression. But then again don't be surprised if Kenny surprises us & pulls a surprise out of the bag!
Whoever we move for - i just hope they have a good final ball.
We desperately need creativity i feel!
Cheers,
Irish Kev.

Thanks Irish Kev. really appreciate your opinion! btw do you not think its a waste of money if they go to see a match and leave early? not saying we perform badly just the fact that even if we are losing the players need support and motivation to get back into the game! but then again that's just my opinion !

Yes Adam.
I would say so to an extent yes!
If people are foolish enough to save hard for a game then walk out early then for me it is a waste of money but more importantly for me i think it's a disgrace for someone to use the whole "oh you'll never walk alone" thing, sing the song before the match, cheer us on till we go behind, then isolate the players by walking out before 90 mins is up! Anytime i'm lucky enough to make it to Anfield i stay & try to see the players leave the car park after a game. I've met many an away team's player at their player exit. And sometimes our own players come to the gates of the players / staff car park & talk to you or sign autographs etc. Met Rafa outside one of the side entrances many a time & he happily posed for photos & had a quick word. So call me a stalker or a true fan - i dunno lol!
What part of Ireland you from Adam?
Hope you're not a Dub lol?!

To be fair to you ed, all team' fans complain about their manager / players at one stage or another.
Thats football for ya!
Can't remember if you said previously that you support Man United or Chelsea (think it was Chelsea) but either way i do think you spoke the truth. Not going to ask you who you support again as i know you guys receive abuse sometimes but who is the best team in your eyes in the EPL? Lol - only joking.

Question for Ed and others:

Believable -
Kjaer 10m, Coentrao 18m, Turan 13m, Banega 8m

Unbelievable -
Cahill 15m, Baines 8m, Johnson 15m, Adam 6m

For me it's a no brainer (foreign), but i know alot of people want british signings, what side are you on ED?

E.H LFC

{Editor's Note: It is not an either or choice. The club need to recruit players who will improve the squad - whether they are British or not, assuming there is no regulatory issue involved, makes no difference.}

Leighton Baines is liverpool top target in the summer. .He will fit in perfectly in KK wing back philosophy and deliver quality delivery into the box for Carroll to attack. .How highly do you rate him ED?

I have a question for all Liverpool fans:
If we're playing poorly such as on Thursday night - would you turn the t.v. off / leave the stadium at half time or before the end & leave your team unsupported?
I just had a full blown argument with a so called LFC fan who said he did it a few times when we play poorly?! Told him he's taking seats from fans like me who'd stay till the end no matter what.
Am i going crazy in suggesting you should support the team until the end?
You'll never walk alone & all that perhaps?
Bel - Keep supporting till the end,
Unbel - Leave early / turn tv off.
Cant believe i have even had to ask this question?!
But its to reclaim my sanity.
Any comment yourself ed?
Cheers,
Irish Kev.

I'd be satisfied if we finish above Chelsea, top four or not. Just wait and see what happens when Chelsea drops off top four. We kept Torres (at least for a year), Reina, Gerrard and others, let see if the so called "Bigger Team" than us can hold onto theirs. It'd be great seeing them not attracting and adding any new players to their aging squad. (Hell I bet even Terry, Lampard, Drogba would all leave) And don't forget the transfer ban that will follow soon. In the recent couple of years they bugged us more than any other teams.

{Editor's Note: What transfer ban is this?}

"The fans are not like Liverpool fans and are not wanting the manager out either." Your quote, jeez thanks, as a LFC fan, I have always suporrted the team no matter who was in charge. Thats not accurate at all mate.

Ed, i don;t know i believe if LFC win 8 of their next games and possibly a draw, we have a real chance of finishing in the top 4.Saying that, makes you wonder were we could have been if KK was in charge from the beginning ed?

{Editor's Note: He wasn't so it is not worth speculating.}

19 Feb 2011 15:40:34
Ed, i'm not with you, with man u and arsenal probably 1st and 2nd, who will finish 3rd then?

{Editor's Note: Chelsea.}

I know your a Chelsea fan but I doubt they'll finish 3rd. Knocked out by Everton, who deserved to win. Team low on confidence, fans wanting Carlo out and they still haven't found a formation which suits their players. At the moment they look like they won't even finish in the top 4.

{Editor's Note: It nothing to do with being a fan. And I appreciate that regardless of dominating games they have been struggling to score, but I expect Chelsea to come third. As for Everton deserving to win, that is true on the basis they scored more penalties than Chelsea. The fans are not like Liverpool fans and are not wanting the manager out either.}

"Never going to happen he has a 40+ million pound buyout in his contract, so you can put this one to bed."

I believe it's actually 100m Euros which is closer to £80m. Absurd, but post Figo Barca have seemingly become paranoid about key, or even potentially key, players being poached.

{Editor's Note: Forget the buy out clauses, they have little or no standing.}

£40 or £80 million it dosnt matter what I am trying to say is we have not got a chance of buying this guy, and the clauses in contracts can have no standing however by having one will Only increase there valuation of the player.
Anyway why should we be interested in a player who chose Barca over us when there are far better players available?

I agree just ignore him. We have moved on. But I also bet that he is back at Atletico Madrid within 2 years with Chelsea having to pay 75% of his wages. He will then realise that they (Chelsea) never love their players like we love ours.

19 Feb 2011 14:18:45
Ed can u plz post that google chrome steps for watchin live football match. .

HOW TO WATCH LIVERPOOL ON THE INTERNET
1. Install the browser Google Chrome.

2. Look in the top right (your right) corner and you will see a spanner.

3. Click on the spanner and select 'tools'.

4. Click on extensions

5. At the bottom right (as you look at it) you will see 'Get More Extensions >>'. Select this.

6. In the search box type 'Chrome Live Football' and search.

7. Click on Chrome Live Football and then click on install. (it may download to a holding file in the bottom left as you look at it, in which case as soon as it's finished click there, but mostly it will install itself)

8. A small football will then appear in the top right (as you look at it). Click on that, select 'live stream' and reset the clock to GMT and it will list all the live games available all over europe and other places.

You may occasionally need to install other programmes or the link you pick will only work on Explorer (in which case cut and paste the URL into Explorer), but you will always get every Liverpool match (or any other). Sometimes you will only be able to find it with foreign commentary and sometimes you will get it in English. You'll get about thirty links and you may have to look through a lot of them to get what you want. You will also get most La Liga matches, Greek matches, Italian matches and French matches as well as top matches from South America.

Someone also asked about viruses etc. Google Chrome is actually far more secure than Internet Explorer so the risks are considerably less, but you should have decent virus/spyware programmes and run sweeps regularly as a matter of course.

The quality will also depend on the speed of your internet connection. If you have super-speed and have a modern HD TV, consider connecting your PC to the TV via the PC socket on the side/ back.

Cut and paste the above into a document and save it for future reference.

19 Feb 2011 14:19:53
Ed would value your opinion and those of other posters. As i understand it, Rodolfo Borrell left Barcelona as he was overlooked for a promotion. Do you think the management should consider him for the reserve team managers post given his success this season and his obvious talent?

Cheers

{Editor's Note: Marveaux and perhaps Arda Turan and one other.}

We would need more then that.

Wingers- Turan and Merveaux
Center mid if Aqua goes - Benega, M'villa, Martinez or Adam
Left back- Baines, Enrique, Coentrao

Then we have a title winning side team.

19 Feb 2011 14:05:52

Have you ever watched Barca play? Messi plays on the right. And Affelay will get more time on the pitch. He can play on either wing of the forward 3 and in either Xavi or Iniesta's place in midfield.

19 Feb 2011 13:19:10
Reina
Kelly Carragher Agger Johnson
Lucas
Gerrard Meireles
Cole
Suarez Pacheco

I'd like to see us play this team, I think the diamond formation could work well as we hav poor width so we should play to our strengths and play good football down the middle. Also allows cole to be in his 'preferred position'.

I think Kenny has been forward thinking re:3 centre backs , mate the only way we will have some width is by using Kelly and Johnson as wing backs , prob Miereles and Gerard in the middle with either Lucas or cole in the equation and Luis and Carrol up top so chill la soon there will be no maxi or kuyt as sure starters and then in the summer Kenny will go out and get the right players all is good , did ya hear the flannel that Hodgson was giving there's no magic wand , we have to be patient I need time to instill my tactics in the players broken record and full of carp feel sorry for WBA bless ya loads YNWA

Hello ed's and all

Just a couple of points/ questions.

One of the ed's said there might be something going on with Pacheco. Does anyone have a clue what it may be. Attitude?, confidence? or what? I think he's got the ability but just doesn't seem to give the confidence to the managers to use him.

Also Kuyt. Kuyt, kuyt, kuyt kuyt. I know the lad runs like his life depends on it, but I hope this is the last season we see him as a regular starter. With us crying out for width I can see his place in the squad being under pressure big time. This season he has been v poor but to be honest his touch is not good enough, his crossing is very hit and miss at best, his vision for a pass is well, questionable. My main problem with him is the fact that if we start a counter and the ball goes to kuyt, he either tries to run past the defender (not his forte) and loses the ball or stops and seems to pass the ball back towards the half line. IMHO he blunts any counter we start. I will shout for him, and wish every player on the pitch would give as much in each match but we have to raise the level and I think Kuyt might suffer because of it. Thoughts?

N'gog. I think we'd do well getting in another striker, I know we have Carroll and suarez but if one gets injured we need someone who is gonna fight for his place, and get a couple of goals. N'gog has the skill (ocassionally we've seen it) but is too weak for the game. Goes down too easily IMO. People will say he's only a young lad but its starting to feel like the babel syndrome. Plenty of potential but showing not very much of it when it counts. . on the pitch. He's had his chances over 2 seasons to establish himself but hasn't done it.

Lucas. What can you say about the lad. Was treated badly by the fans when he arrived but in the last two seasons has started to turn them around. Then thursday, he has a bad game (not awful, but not good either) and he's back to the villian of the piece. I'm sorry but he wasn't the only player who had a stinker. Raul did nothing better than Lucas but where's the baying hoards looking for his head. Give the lad a break, one bad game does not a bad player make. Although saying that I'd like to see us strengthen that area, but I'd keep Lucas. Very handy squad member, can do a very good job for us when required.

Finally Maxi. We need to replace him. He's getting on, and can't go past a player. Also looks like he has taken a couple of steps back while kenny's been in. On his day can be good but those days are getting fewer and further between now. We need more consistancy (sp?) there and with Carroll we need someone who can constantly whip in a good cross. I think its far too early for sterling (though I think we have a proper diamond of a player there) so we need someone in.

Thoughts, questions, comments?

JJ

PS I think there a good 4/ 5 of this current youth crop who could come through and be real good player for us. Well done rodolfo and pep.

{editor: I pretty much agree with everything you have said. I would like to see Pacheco get a chance up front, not on the wings. Kuyt is getting poorer as time goes by, it would be good to have him as a squad player and then part of the coaching set up because he is a good leader and a nice person. Maxi is very annoying, sometimes he is brilliant then he misses an open goal from 3 yards out. I think signing another striker would be good, Benzema has been linked. Lucas is one of our best players at the moment.}

Liverpool did try to sign him (he wasn't free by any means) but he preferred to go to Barcelona. it wasn't a case of bad business - it was what he wanted at the time. If a player doesn't want to sign there is nothing that the club can do.

I think Pacheco needs extended first team football, Ive been a supporter of his but he has not made the breakthrough with three managers? Something is not right with the lad, attitude? strength? who knows? Seems a waste of talent to me, I reckon he will need to go on loan or will be sold. The up and coming crop of young players will be in similar positions, some may breakthrough like Kelly, but the rest will need to be loaned out to gain experience, after two seasons of reserve team football you are not going to progress as well as being in a first team with the added pace, strength and pressure that brings. Overall the future looks good though. Would be good to see Ince or Sterling given some game time on Thursday as we need a bit of pace on the flanks.

Torres is officially as dumb as he looks, at the traditional chelsea karaoke initiation Torres was unsure as to what to sing, after quite a while thinking about the perfect song he chose "you'll never walk alone" which did not go down too well with his new chelski team mates. DOH! :D

Total pap mate, Chavs will make an obscene loss on Torres with his injury's wages and massive cost. So he'll slip out of favour in a couple of years yes. Would we have him back, no, we have player with heart and passion.

Ed - Do you think that KK is a little biased towards UK players? So far young players getting a look in have been Kelly, Sterling, Connor-Coady, Robinson, Shelvey, Flannagan - with Tony Silva, Suso and Pacheco being a little overlooked. .
If this is the case then it is obvious that KK will go for Adams, Young etc. . It seems he's trying to add a little British steel to the team. .

{Ediitor's Note: No he won't be biased. There is something going on with Pacheco perhaps, but the others are, like Sterling, very young.}

How about Ed 1, Ed 2, Ed 3 etc or will that cause friction between you to see whos number 1 :) {ed's note - no question who gets number 1, that would be me as it is my site. The problem with that is keeping track of who uses which number, I think individual names might end up working out better.}

As long as the same ed uses the same number each time should be pretty simple :)

Its sad to see eds ruling out hazard and other pricey targets. IF i remember correctly, they ruled out move for suarez too. and look what happened
So hold your horses. . anything is quite possible :)

gervinho, marveaux and taiwo are quite likely at this stage. .

expect another LB, young defensive and creative midfielder, 2 wingers ( young and? ? )

{Editor's Note: Ruling out Hazard is nothing to do with his price.}

The two wingers we need are adam johnson and marc albrighton

Hey Ed, this is a great site keep up the good work . I just want to ask, what's your thoughts on Arda Turan, do you think he'sva good player and what is the max you would pay for him? From Dan H {ed's note - I have not seen a lot of him, what i saw he looked good and I know Kenny has recommended him as a potential player in the past. That is good enough for me! I would pay whatever the King thinks he is worth, I have that much faith in the man.}
