Do you realise that we've scored six goals in every match that Gerrard,Suarez and Carroll have started together!

I think that if we win the carling cup and F.A cup (touch wood) and not qualify for champions league. Top players will realise that something big is happeneing at liverpool and more than likely wanna be part of the future i know i would. Its only a matter of time before where back on top uniteds reign is coming to an end soon it will b are turn again.

Idealy i would like see liverpool make an effort to sign the likes of LAZAR MARKOVIC,LEANDRO DAMIEO,LUCAS MOURA,SERGIO CANALES. You know players of that quality, up and coming talent from round the world and not jus focus solely on british players cause lets face it countries like brazil and spain like that are for superior at technical football than we are.

ACHILLES.

You need more than quality to fit in with this squad. Under this manager he will be looking for certain characteristics on top of quality, that and the other variables make it almost impossible to predict who we will be in for (without inside information of course).

Red Owl

Im sure damien comolli will be taking note of these players and others and if they would fit into liverpool squad or not, I personally think the guy is an unsung hero when it comes to recognising potential.

ACHILLES.

According to Sammy Lee when asked today if Luis Suarez was a liability his answer was yes, to the oppositions defense and he added he is nice lad and a great footballer. Sammy doesn't seem to agree with Fergie´s transfer policy for Liverpool and from the looks of it neither does Kenny or any other Liverpool fan I know.

Eds - you continue to say that Isla is noit an option until fitness is proved - yet that didnt stop us spending 35m on Carroll - comments?

Through the Storm {Ed001's Note - Carroll did not have an ACL injury of the severity that Isla suffered. Added to that we are not in as desperate a situation for Isla as we were for a striker.}

19 Feb 2012 21:24:52
hey ed001,
who would your realistic and ideal buys in the summer if champions league is reached?
cheers,
Mikey {Ed001's Note - I honestly have no idea, I really haven't given any thought to realistic buys. Ideals would be Javi Martinez, Gonzalo Higuain though, just not sure about realistic ones.}

Martinez, Negredo and Pablo Hernandez would be amazing. not particularly trying to spanish the place up but they're just my choices, everybody is talking about Soldado but Negredo is a much better player in my opinion.

Still a few anonymous mancs around i see. Poor old average Downing,Henderson,Adam,Carrol and that disgrace Luis Suarez?? An average team winning trophies lol... Don't be so pissed off though. There's always Thursday nights...

Been really pleased with A.C in the last month, you can see he is growing in confidance. A MONTH BACK THE BLOKE COULDN'T EVEN control the ball but is looking good now. Saurez was class and the club must keep him, he's always going to be liable of doing something silly but alot of the great players are. Also thought Charlie Adam had a good game and found a red shirt with every pass. Good to see Downing get a assist as well.

So can Loserpool hang on to Suarez for next season.
It seems any half decent forwards you have can't wait to get away,
Torres,
The wonderful Michael Owen(plays for a proper club these days),
Crouch,
Heskey,
Fowler,
Rush,
Dundee,
Ngog,
Babel,
Carter.

Sorry couldn't help it with some of those.

Red Daz.

You left out Voronin.

LIVERPRES

You say Owen 'plays' for a 'proper' team but let me ask you this. When was the last time he actually 'played', and since when has a team that constantly moan and bitch at the referee all game, been a 'proper' team. I must say, your choice of vocabulary there was very suprising, yet somewhat amusing!

Perhaps we could flog you a half decent goalie. Been a while since you had one of those. Not got enough time this week to list all your attacking failures, sorry.
ND

Calling us Loserpool is extremely purile, grow up and try again son, or is mummy giving you a bath before school in the morning.

ps, who do you play in the FA cup? Oh sorry i forgot, still there's always the Champions Leag.. oh, your out of that as well....and you criticize our strikers?

MR EM

Did you not realise we just won a game 6-1?

Yes like Ronaldo, Beckham, Butt, Neville and even Morrison left to play for proper clubs. F&ck me even Paul Ince saw the light in the end.

6-1 is clearly a scoreline that strikes a nerve with Utd fans...

Liverpool played well today and got rewarded for it, some good performances and some average but a good team performance, I have a feeling that we might visit Wembley twice this season, i hope we can take this performance to league matches 4th spot is there for the taking.

abbs

Don't jinx it mate I think if we made it to the FA cup finals it will be wembley thrice.
I may be wrong but doesn't the semi-finals also take place at wembley.

DAILY SKY PAPER.

Top Sports Story. Liverpool progress to last 8 of FA cup with fortune of 3 own goals (Regardless they scored 3 themselves.)

Suarez misses penalty. He should be banned for at least 10 games says SAF.

Kenny Dalglish a disgrace because he didn't give Gus Poyet a 3 goal start. He should stand down says SAF.

Howard Webb should have been in charge of the game.

Reporter - Howard Webb.

OKAAAY

It's weird but I actually believed this was true at first. Let's be honest, it wouldn't suprise ya!

So you get through to the QF's of the FA Cup (well done on that by the way) and the first thing you want to do is talk about United? How embarrassing for you.

TK-Red

19 Feb 2012 20:55:22
Will everyone stop moaning. We've got a league cup final next week. We're in the last 8 of the FA cup, with a real possibility of progressing even further, and an outside shot, yes an outside shot, but its still a shot, at claiming 4th spot. Still 39 points to play for. Just get behind the team and watch LFC as they progress.

Skrtle really growing into a top class player.

Jack the groove

I always thought he was a top player, remember how good he was under Rafa

Cape Town Red

Totally agree mate. He seems to be getting better, game by game.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Always was a top class player. Carragher was preferred in the past so he never got a chance.

Played 38 league games last season (49 in all competitions. Never given a chance? I agree with your sentiment but your grasp of facts is a bit limited.
The only people who never gave him a chance are the haters who love to make negative posts.

Why didnt coates play? The guy is lacking game time. Why play carra who is the past?

Was Fergie the one who interupted the game midway through the second half by running on the pitch?

Is it just me or did it feel real good to see suarez's reaction to carroll after scoring...he was so happy that carroll set him up.

The future of liverpool!

I noticed his reaction as well it obviously meant a lot for him to score. I know he has had his problems and can be a problem but I want and quite honestly hope he stays because I think he is pure class but whether he does stay beyond summer is another matter.

19 Feb 2012 19:51:11
Liverpool might have had seven had Suarez converted a penalty late in the game. It was Dalglish who told the club's other penalty takers to stand aside for the Uruguayan.

"That was my fault - I just let sentiment get in the way," said the boss. "But I'll learn my lesson.

kenny dalglish words after the game.

sentimental towards a player he has been publicly embarrassed by?
sentimental towards a player who he is ready to kick out the club come may?
i think that statement dismisses the doubters and suarez's exit!

if kenny had any real plan to kick suarez out the club then it TOTALLY went out the window when ferguson demanded it anyway.

s.p

The plan went right in Fergie's behind. Lol!

BooDaBooze

We might have scored a seventh had scored sevent, however the passage of play would've been totally different if they'd of taken a centre instead of a goal kick. I don't subscribe to that notion at all. We may have scored 2 more,or not scored any more. Who knows?
Jonson

The owners have already made the decision after pressure from sponsors like it or not

I fear the decision to sell Suarez in the summer may come from the owners, not Kenny. However I do still feel that there is a chance Suarez will stay but it'll take a lot if work from Kenny and Suarez himself to convince the owners hrs worth the trouble of keeping
Would you agree Ed?

Chris in Tamworth

Heard Henry came to England end of last week to talk it over

Suarez will not be sold - end of !
Fergie guaranteed that by publicly demanding it - the American owners are too savvy - they know they will lose the fans. And yes they have obviously some smoothing to do with sponsors etc but Suarez will still be here next season. Thanks Fergie !

Suarez will have to co trol his emotions a lot more. He has already started, see him pull out of smashing the ball in to the crowd after the penalty miss? He loves the game but gets a bit carried away sometimes! Haha
I REALLY hope he stays, and think he will... That's what I said about Torres at 10pm on that deadline day though..

Myk

I dont think he will be sold, infact think they will do all they can to keep him.
You dont sell the chicken that lays the golden egg,

We knew Torres was goin two day's before the transfer window closed! i did anyway!

19 Feb 2012 19:20:32
I Think with kenny calling for suarez to take the penalty that is showing he backs Suarez, i do not think he will sell him in the summer, i know it was only a penalty but at 5 - 1 he could have let anybody take it...

G BOX

I hit disagree by mistake, bloody touch screen phone.

I think you maybe right, and so should us fans.

Does anyone know if our fans were booing Suarez today or was it just there fans?

Exactly any one could have taken it and it was Suarez needed the confidence, so it's not so big in the grand scheme of things -McMenemy

Reading down the page it would some of the normal posters on here are still not happy, even with a 6-1 win, and still pick fault in players performances. Whilst I appreciate some won't be LFC fans a fair view are.

Can I ask exactly it is you want? Chelski drew with a championship side yesterday, spuds drew with a first/second division side today, yet we beat a fairly decent championship side and STILL the moaners are out. I amd beginning to believe that they must all have Fifa 10/11/12 or whatever is out and they must be picking dream teams and winning easily every time the switch the PS/Xbox on.

For f***s sake give it a rest or go and find another sport/activity.

I felt we played well today, and AC & LS are looking good together (9 in 10 now I believe for the doubters out there). Yes there are times in games when the opposition will have the ball, but it's what you let them do with it that counts. Generally we prevent more than we allow.

For anybody who doesn't understand LFC is a work in progress and it will be at least 2/3 years before we see the real progress. But I have to admit a cup final, last 8 of the other and STILL in with a shout of 4th place is the right way to go.

Before anyone has a pop, yes as I''ve said before everyone has an opinion but why moan, what does that achieve, destroys players confidence probably. You know what if you not happy with the current situation there is one easy option you can take - STOP supporting the club, there's plenty more come along, always has, always will be - TMac

Well said mate

King luis

Moaning has become the chronic illness of the new generation of supporters, i guess. It is very hard to cure.

But the problem really is that these moaners have their own players that they want in the squad and won't quit moaning until they see them in it. That is the fault of all the FM games they play.

19 Feb 2012 19:18:31
If suarez leaves we will become mediocrity, not because we loose our best player but the fact we will loose him and replace him with some mid table prem striker for twice the price he is worth. So if Suarez leaves we MUST only replace him with a player: a) with a prolific record b) who has been linked with some big clubs in the past and not a bunch of teams aiming for mid table c) doesn't have a reputation for being an person d) and plays at a resectable level (not a big fish in a little pond).

Pete

People should stop this rubbish about suarez leaving. all you are doing is making people think that whisky nose was right in his comments! Support is what he needs and he will prove himself that he is one of the best in the world. Personally i wouldnt sell him as we dont have anybody else in the forward line who is able to take on a player and beat them. You just dont get rid of your best players! ie: Alonso

19 Feb 2012 19:16:38
I believe henderson was very much up to his usual (and loserpools) usual standard - cr*p - long may the misguided faith continue as it makes for continuing mediocrity

Dont think it will be as easy to get the streaker re homed as it was for the Anfield Cat !!

Presume it was a very cold day at Anfield today... caught a glimpse on the tele, very cold i would say. any one that can offer a home for the night to warm him up, or have the local constabulary got one already booked for him

But maybe easier to neuter.

19 Feb 2012 18:49:49
Some Thoughts:

(1) It was not so much winning and scoring goals which made me happy today, it was a real feeling that the team have turned
the corner and started to gel. Today gave me a real feeling of the power of the quad we have. It is a very difficult thing bringing so many players into a team as we have. I think back not to the games I watched preseason we got thrashed by Hull.
Now, Carroll is a totally different player so is Charlie so is Hendo (but still no good yet right mid). The team is totally different and also no Bellamy tonight.

(2) Downing had a good game so lets give him some credit,
we have given him a lot of critism lately (and rightly so), but today he played very well. More of the same Stuart.

(3) We have had a bit of hard luck this season, We bought in a lot of new players, Gerrard has been injured, Lucas also injured. We've had to sell lots of 'dead-wood'. Next season will be different after the team had had a season together, patience on this one my friends.

(4) F**k selling Suarez. He's a great footballer and he's improving. He could really be something in a few years.

(5) I would advise Liverpool great care and thought over selling Johnson. Some of us think Kelly is better some of us disagree. I think Johnson is great going forward, I think he is a player we need to keep in the squad if we are going to challenge for the premiereship. Selling him because of his wages sounds cheap to me. He scored an important goal tonight (again).

(6) I'll stop here cos I need to take a pee, too much beer today.

RedAce

You know you played a championship team today? What were you expecting to happen?

Like Stevenage, Birmingham or CRYSTAL PALACE

19 Feb 2012 18:42:43
Well done boys! Good professional victory today!

Good to see Andy hit the net and have a good positive game.

Downing with a good assist, but still needs to do more in games imo

Good to see Gerrard/Suarez/Carroll in the line up at the same time, worked well (is it me or has Stevie G lost a bit of pace? Or is still no fully match fit?.......just an observation btw)

Good to see Kenny's backing of Suarez like he did with our penalty (poor penalty btw Luis)

And yes, Brighton did score 3 own goals but with 2 of them there was nothing that their players could do as we was forcing the issue! And yes they are a Championship team but we can only beat who is put in front of us and had we been taken to a replay and or had lost I'm sure we would have been widely ridiculed! And to be honest I always viewed this game as a potential banana skin

All in all I'm very happy! Bring on Stoke in the next round, and bring on Cardiff next week!

If we keep playing like we did today (our movement, creating and taking chances, good set pieces etc) we should get 4th in the league

Onward we march reds! Fantastic! All roads lead to Wembley!

A game of everything, own goals, missed penalties, streaker etc etc. But enjoyed the game to full. Everyone played a great game except for henderson who is not to his usual standard but great result and fair draw for quarters at home to stoke, looking forward and finally to the negative moaners, u guys need to go to a mental hospital. We won 6-1 and i would take that any day and what the heck is there to moan about. Or is it just a gigantic effort to get recognition and make sure u too live in this world. Okay we hear u and ur mental slurs. God show mercy on ur little souls.

everyone had a good game in my opinion. but carroll needs to.. well stop complaining too much, just move on. last time it was suarez and now its him, even suarez is not complaining that much. i hope carroll learns from suarez. but overall very good game, even without the 3 own goals, we still won 3-1, YNWA

What are you going to moan about tonight?

I know it's going to be an easy night for the Ed's tonight 6-1 even if you were to take the o.g's out that's still 3-1, but don't worry i'm sure they will find something to bitch and moan about. But as for me and i'm sure a lot of Liverpool fans i'm delighted with the result and a home tie is just the icing on the cake. Lets see if we can make the ITV commentators eat their words after saying is Tottenham's cup to lose.

I thought big Andy had a good game today. His contribution as well as his desire and effort was there to see. It's about time people stopped the negativity and got behind the club, the team and the individuals.

Andy himself will have to shut the doubter up with much improved performances, mate, and he is beginning to do it now. Carroll is beginning to look scary for defenders.

Is it fair to say Ed's that if Suarez keeps his nose clean until the end of the season and makes a good/excellent contribution in the cup finals and possibly helps us get to 4th, all will be forgot and he will stay for the 12/13 season?

I personally think that as our top scorer, losing him would mean we are back to square one again. EVERYONE deserves a second chance and by selling him he does not get one. I think it is clear, the fans and Kenny Dalglish are right behind him. It would be an utter travesty to lose him in his 1st full season at the club.

LFC_7 {Ed002's Note - I expect he will leave .}

No he will stay he is a good player and we need him

I hope you are profoundly wrong Ed. Sorry Ed but I love Luis. Cannot bear to lose another class striker.

LFC_7

No, he won't be sold. I expect him to stay for many years to come. so do carroll and etc. Even if we do sell him because of the external pressures he will only be at a fairly good price which in my opinion is at least 35mil def not at 25mil. If no one offers that kind of money, well they can piss off. We can happily have him, its not going to be our loss.

AJ

The atmosphere at Anfield is awful. Why are we allowing Suarez to be booed at home? Everytime they boo Luis our own fans should be cheering and helping him on! I blame the home support for most of our draws as well because the atmosphere is dead until Utd,City etc come to town. Cumon guys if you are fortunate enough to go to Anfield, make the most of it EVERY game!! As for the playing staff, Downing is doing ok. At least he's playing better and getting crosses in. Not as awful as previous games. Henderson has been poor and Andy needs to stay on his bloody feet and stop complaining even though that other guy has been fouling him all game so far. Not that bad. 2-1up and on our way to the quarters!
Capetownred

How can you criticise the home support whilst sat in front of your computer you clown.

Derek

There is no fortune in going to Anfield it costs a fortune so please as a non attending fan do not have the cheek to criticise those of us who pay our hard earned cash to watch the match.

Its like a morgue.

Our own fans boo-ing suarez, disgrace, as long as hes wearin our shirt we should support him, fair enough, hes brought shame and bad publicity on our club and will more than likely be off in the summer, but we need to support him now if we wanna try get 6th spot

No we wernt!

I thought it was the brighton fans booing him?

You are a person blue nose or Slur Alex follower, it was the Brighton fans booing Suarez.

Right-o matey.

It was the brighton fan

Ffs LFC were NOT booing Suarez.S it stirring Mancs on here

19 Feb 2012 17:28:41
What did our scouts see in Downing? He's an apology for a footballer.

He played well today! that's why Kenny took him off with job done so he could be applauded! to give the lad some much needed confidence and support! as that's what's been lacking in both him and us the fan's!

19 Feb 2012 17:23:49
Mmmmmm are we playing away today?

Brighton then stoke, I wonder if we will play chelsea in the semi's. Come on boyz we can get to Wembley.

Lets get behind the team more...

19 Feb 2012 17:22:33
Even some of our own supporters are booing Suarez, We should win this game but my god, how bad are carroll, henderson, adam and downing? worst signings ive ever seen in my life

I think they're playing rather well, keeping possession then retaining it if we lose it. With Carroll, he's being man-handled every corner and being blocked off, yet with that he's playing well. Support the players, if we win and get to the final I bet you'll be praising them then. WIth that if we win the Cup next weekend.

Alex

Yeah Downing and Carroll just created the third goal. Why don't you just watch the game and support the team instead of complaining.

19 Feb 2012 17:21:18
2 - 1 half time, poor in my opinion, no pressing (Brighton seeing way to much of the ball), not quick enough moving the ball in midfield, Crossing is poor.

Would like to see a big improvement second half and would like our strikers to get a couple of goals.

GBOX

You got what you wanted then lol

Downing and Henderson are Total rubbish.

Downing actually having a good game. Agree Hendo still looks so nervous and unsure. Maxi on for him.

Chuck Norris

19 Feb 2012 17:13:53
We should win this easily but at the moment Downing is constantly playing the wrong ball and Henderson's struggling with simple passes. Carroll should have finished his chance too. Easy header for him. A bit of Dalglish-ja-vu going on.

-Shane.

Never gonna happen mate. Agree though, Kelly on, Hendo off, Johnson RM. Would work nicely.

Chuck Norris

19 Feb 2012 17:08:33
I really can't believe we bought downing, he's the worst player by a mile, he's got nothing to offer and clearly is out of his dept the only transfer ok has made that makes me sick, I know its his first season but atleast with the other signings they will get better as the put so much effort in, even Carroll works really hard. But downing shows nothing no effort, no heart, no substance, I just hope he becomes a squad player and we put one of our youths at his position or even Buy someone new, because I can't take anymore of stewart downing

Red and proud

Give it a break. Downing had an ok first half. Him, Carroll and Hendo are just so nervous and lacking confidence. Don't become bad players overnight. Support your players.

Well downing and carroll had a great 2nd half and hendo did ok.

hi guys great website. i can't believe that i am hearing about Suarez being sold. he is one of our best players. i said before that it would be embarrassing if we sell suarez, but still kept the players who are not good enough to play for liverpool. the media just needs to stop posting rubbish about suarez every week. but if the situation becomes worst during the summer and we had to sell suarez (which i hope not), surely we need to get a lot of money from him, and bring in not one but two world class players to replace him. also there aren't any players like suarez out there. what do u guys think?. thanks and ynwa.

I agree, we need to keep him, but there are similar players like him, though it will be difficult to get them. Lavezzi, Miccoli are two that comes to mind.

There is only 1 Luis Suarez.

eds futher to the comment you made earlier a liverpool team without suarez is a lot weaker! we know we aint got arab wealth but the owners were the people who got commoli and this moneyball rubbish which just aint worked. {Ed001's Note - you clearly have no idea what you are on about, pointless discussing this with you when you don't even know what moneyball is or how it is related. Give it a rest, you are just making yourself look stupid.}

Nice response Ed001...you didnt make yourself look stupid!
JB70

The owners hav done a hell of alot buy getting rid of deadwodd- paying them off and by wiping out all our debt. Without them we probably wud have been in administration lyk rangers r now.

The owners certainly haven't used "moneyball" to select any players. It works in one sport and one sport only.

Guys do you think that Joe Cole at least deserves a second chance. I mean if he even was half the player he was at Chelsea then I believe he would be a good asset for things like the carling cup. What do you think? {Ed001's Note - on 75k + bonuses I would want a lot more out of him than a few League Cup matches each season! He has never been good enough at his best, he is well past that now.}

eds can you not ban these mancs cause they are so obsesed with our team and eds do they not think they have their own scummy page. They are getting worried because we are in the final of one cup and near the final of another. Andy Carroll is starting to play, Gerrard's back and Suarez is back and wanting to score goals. OK, guys we might not get 4th but I for one am optimistic as every Liverpool fan should be. When you think back to last year from now, every red should be delighted and every manc be afraid. We are coming back.

Is it open mike at the comedy store ? Afraid of what exactly ? Gerrard = has been - Carrol = never was - Suarez = wannabe

You sir are mistaken

Think you will find that everyone posts on everyones pages

As a Liverpool supporter I would agree with 2 of your 3 assertions

Gerrard = Still the best

Carrol = never was

Suarez = wannabe with deficits

However your own house is in rag order having to recall scholes just shows how poxy Utd have become and hopefully it will just get worse, hopefully Citeh will put some distance between Utd and the EPL this year

Question:
We seem to need a natural goal scorer.
I'd be interested to know who you'd choose if the club left it up to the fans for one big money signing this summer?
I'd sway towards Cavani myself as he can play upfront or on the wing if we're winning & trying to hold out.
I also genuinely believe he'd come to us with Suarez & Coates already here.
Who would you pick?
No Messi / Ronaldo / Torres allowed in your choices :)

Soldado, he's a clinical finisher or RVP but he''ll probably go to Italy

Cavani, but he would be very very expensive and Im not sure he would come to us ahead of Madrid, so Luuk de Jong, the most clinical finisher as per number of shots to goals or in terms of conversion rate in Europe!

AG

Messi or Ronaldo

19 Feb 2012 10:57:00
People are saying about Glen Johnson leaving this summer, just wanted to know why? I have heard from the Ed's on here that he has a clause in his contract which effectively forces Liverpool's hand to play him in a certain amount of games per season or something along those lines. However, didn't he sign a 2 year extension on top pf the 2 years he had left on his contract, at the start of this season? Surely if that clause was a problem it would have been sorted out in the extension? I understand why people wouldn't mind him leaving as he can be a liability defending at times but I think he's been much better this season and gives us something extra on the right hand side. And let's not forget, he is part of one of the best defences in the league. Be interested to here from Ed001 or Ed009 in particular as Liverpool fans.

Cheers all,

Marshy.
{Ed001's Note - sometimes you just accept the terms the player wants to get the contract extended so you can get more for selling a player.}

Ed001 is correct. A lot of the time a player's contract is extended merely to force up any tranfer price, not because the club have intentions of keeping them. Just business. RED LENIN

I will be glad when he leaves. kelly is much better in is position.. i

Johnson bashers at it again. He is a lfc player and in my opinion an excellent one. Not sure why he gets so much stick. One of only a few flair/creative players we have.

Hi ed i just wanted to ask how much do the players have to play so they would be eligible for a winners medal (should we win of course) next weekend? {Ed002's Note - I would expect 23 - 18 for the players who are in the final squad and five for officials of the club.}

19 Feb 2012 10:31:18
If the owner sells suarez it shows he has not got a clue about football. This is a club that stands by its players not sell them and replace them with probably an overpriced english player who is useless. He is our best player alongside stevie and if he is sold it will be a huge step back we will never get the same quality and never get back in the top 4. The owners has showed a distinct lack of ambition by not signing anyone to make us stonger in jan and if they sell one of our best players i for one will not be happy. {Ed002's Note - My understanding is that the owner was not responsible for the buying of the "overpriced english players" nor for no players arriving in January. Liverpool have responsible owners and not owners who have the money to spend at will, such as Manchester City, PSG and Anzhi.}

Suarez has dragged your club name through the dirt and your fans support of him has also done this. The handshake issue reached the American press and the owners of Liverpool had to act due to the fact is was damaging their rep not yours. Hence the forced apologies of Messers Suarez and Dalgleish

If they start to loose money, you dont get money to spend on players.

They own your club, they run things... expect a new manager in the summer.

You have to accept that Liverpool is nopw part of an American sports empire run on an American business model. If it makes financial sense to sell a player when all things financially-related are taken into consideration then he will be sold. RED LENIN

Ed002 I see you have not included chelsea. I wonder why :)
its just a conversation I hope you take it that way.

Looking forward to todays game think Kenny will start with the lineup he's got in mind for Wembley. It's alright people saying it's only Brighton ( don't underestimate them) give some youngsters a go but if we did that and came unstuck the same people would calling for Kenny's head.
My team to start the game with gerrard playing the important dm position would be.

johnson....skyrtle...........agger....enrique
........................gerrard......................

To be honest i would play Downing he needs games to build up confidence and he scored in this competition
red raj

Gerrard will never play the deepest lying sitting defensive midfielder... Try again kid

Don't think we have enough time at this stage of the season to worry about Downing lacking confidence; for me he'd have to come an sub and try to get a goal or assist to build his confidence. How can he start ahead of Bellamy or even Kuyt who are both more than capable of chipping in with a goal or assist.
kidmillions

Gerrard will never play the deepest lying sitting defensive midfielder... Try again kid

Gerrard can and has play this role albeit not for a long time however without Gerrard we have no attack so he must drive his team forward this means the midefield area can be exploited by the opposition and so gerrard gets hammered when it does not work out.

Is it Gerrard fault or that of our uncreative midfielders and strikers?

Blinko

Gerrard has played dm before. He's got the ability to be influential with or without the ball.

Gerrard can only be in one place at any one time, he is not a daiety, well not just yet!

If Gerrard is attacking he can't cover the back four all at the same time.

to be honest i would rather have THIAGO ALCANTARA from barcelona and CALLEJON from real madrid for £20-£25 mil for both of them.

I don't think Barca are going to let Thiago go any time soon. I think there was a chance last summer before he signed a new contract and hi buyout clause rocketed up

David Marshall MatongoSuperSport SuperFan

I know the handshake thing should be left alone and the 2parties should
move on but this is worth a little mention. In 1986 the World Cup in
Mexico,Uruguay eliminated Scotland after a scoreless draw.At the
end of the match the coach of Uruguay,Omar Borras, turned to the
Scotland coach to shake hands. The Scot, who is frustrated by his
team's elimination,however,refused to shake hands.The name of
this coach? Alex Ferguson!

Disgraceful he should never be allowed to manage a football team ever again.
kidmillions

Yeah Ferguson has a habbit of refusing handshakes, quite hypocritical.

Read this on LFC site and really got scared.
These below are our managers word.

The players deserve every credit. They've had a relatively successful season, they've put themselves in a good position.

"This time last year we weren't in both cup competitions and we weren't as close as four points off fourth spot. We're pleased with what we've done so far but we want to push on and improve where we are."

He thinks we have improved..
sorry to bust your bubble but there is one thing we have not done is improve.we are playing dreadful football..
hope its just a PR effort rather then his true views.

Red Indian

This time last season we were two points ahead of Bolton, 8-points of fourth place having played two games more than most of the teams above us and were out of both cups.

We are now in one cup final, still in the other cup and are four points of fourth place, and you think we have not improved? Or would prefer to go back to the days of Hodgson, Poulson, Koncheskey, Miereless and Cole?

And your view that we are playing dreadful football must put you in a minority of one unless you are judging on the last couple of games. Most people agree our football this season has been great but just lacking the killer ball or lethal finisher.

JRG

Your actually arguing against the facts? Which will effect the future credibility of anything you post.
kidmillions

Yes, we have improved, mate, and according to what the gaffer rightly said, there is plenty of room for improvements.
The problem with fans like you is that you are just being unnecessarily paranoid because you know nothing about what it takes to rebuild a team for a club that is used to being at the top of a tough league like the premier league like LFC. It can never be smooth sailing like you fantasize in your head. It takes time. Atleast 2 seasons if we are lucky.

BooDaBooze

What rubbish, we played much better football until the Suarez ban. Despite what you and others say, we're a better side than last year (especially the first half). Our defence is wonderful now, we just lack a bit of balance right now. Lucas and Suarez are two of our most influential players and both have been missing for large parts of the season. With those two, a fit Gerrard and Downing/Carroll performing to their abilities we'd more than likely have won half the home games we'd drawn and be sitting in fourth.

I personally believe with one or two quality signings we'd have a shot at top 3 next season. Arsenal are going to have to rebuild from the bottom, Chelsea will either start over with a new manager or replace the ageing stars and see what happens. Spurs could push on but it really does depend on Harry.

If you're so against Kenny, who would you appoint (please don't say yourself). There are some good managers around in world football, but like Downing or Carroll do you think either could move up to LFC's level and not choke? AVB hasn't exactly lived up to his hype.

Give Kenny another summer, a few more quality acquisitions and we may click. Keep the faith.

Papa G

So how come if we are playing worse football we are better off ,cant be playing that bad results dont lie

No disrespect to anyone, but I don't believe Suarez will be sold over the summer. Transfer dealings are not as straightforward as they used to be. For instance, a club such as Liverpool have had a hard time attracting elite players over the last few years. Suarez was and is still a gamble, but he is also an asset which value at this point is not much higher than the price we paid for him. If we sell now, we'll lose our most dynamic player and will have no-one as good to replace him. However, if we keep him and surround him properly, he might improve significantly and at the same time elevate the club. The problem with Suarez is that he has the spotlight on him, that needs to change. If he becomes one of three or four top players at Liverpool it'll help out a lot. Yes, he has his faults; but there is also a lot of attention that is placed on him solely because he is the only consistent top performer we have (no disrespect to Agger, Reina, Gerrard, Lucas). I feared the worst after the Handgate. I thought the club might leave him out for a couple of games because of his misleading of Kenny and Commoli, but they did not. If they had, then he would have been gone for certain. However, the commotion has died (rightly so) and people will soon understand how the FA have shot themselves in the foot. I'll leave it at that since I would not want to have typed this for nothing. The smart thing to do would be to keep him another year, keep our fingers crossed and hope he improves on his finishing. If that happens, he might go for a much bigger fee after next season. Of course all this is just an opinion since those count as well on here.

Suarez is a silly bugger of a lone ranger and should be booted out the door with hopefully the door hitting him on the head on the way out and knocking some sense into him.

Ealier in the summer there were many here complaining about the possibility of Nolan or Barton joining, suarez is worse than either.

Why have double standards?

Cuz Nolan and Barton are thugs and average players. Suarez is not very good at kissing and making up. Big difference. We'll keep him thanks. No really, we'll keep him.

cozinoz

More nonsense! It might of escaped your attention but we havn't played any games since what you call Handgate so how can you can leave Suarez out of games we havn't played. Think before you post.
kidmillions

So suarez is just a better player than nolan ot barton and for that his behaviour is justified?

What a bad path to go down

@kidmillions
Is Suarez in the squad today or not? Has the club announced he'd be suspended internally? Seems like you are the one who should think before posting?

Canadian fan; re-read your post you were talking in the past tense? Get an education before you post.

@kidmillions
All right, I see your point. I suspect you know I was talking about a decision to suspend Suarez, but I concede it was not entirely worded properly. But, you know what I meant and you called me on it. Fair enough, I bow down to your superior educaction.

Has reina been good this season or below average? I love the guy but feel he hasn't had a good season for him.

Second most clean sheets and conceded goals next to city, sktrel and agger will win him another golden glove. feel he hasnt had good season, pull ya head in!
sydred

2nd place in the bpl for clean sheets. But i think it has been down to the back four rather than reina this season. Average for me, but the whole back line as a whole, good.

Kaizer

Reina has been average for a long time now and he believes his own hype.

Reina brings so much more to the team than simply making great saves. His distribution is the best in the premier league, he sets up more goalscoring opportunities than any other goalkeeper in the league.

He also plays the sweeper role better than any other goalkeeper and his decision making in this area and can stop attacks before they become dangerous.

He has made one or two uncharacteristic mistakes this season but also has not got credit when he has deserved it, like his save against Chelsea just after they equalised in the league.

JRG

'average' ??

he's been the stand out premier league goalkeeper for the best part of the last 4 years! no goalkeeper has won the golden gloves more times than he has and he's pretty close to being awarded it again this season.
if he's average then there is little hope for some of the people on this site. i say 'peope' as alot of you don't act like supporters!

s.p

Whilst I think reina is a fantastic keeper and wouldn't swap him for any other, i can't see anyone helping him win the golden glove this year. As much as I'd love him to win it Joe hart has been the top keeper this year.

Ashy

Best keeper and in the EPL for about 5 years mate!

Is it just me who is noticing all the clubs not filling stadiums? I've seen plenty of games where a large portion of the seats are empty. It happened again today at Sunderland... and that is against a champions league team in a Cup they could win! It happened at City's stadium vs us in the carling cup. Is it a problem of how hard it is to get a ticket or is it because of the current economy? Apparently the tickets were cheaper vs Arsenal today as well. I really don't understand.

BthekingB

Think it is a sign of the 'economic times'. Commentators mentioned a crowd of 25K in a stadium that holds 48K.
One has to wonder, if LFC building a 70K plus stadium is really economically viable anymore, maybe 60K or so makes more financial sense.

People have only had one monthly payday since before Christmas, times are tough!

dmedly

Going from 45K to 60 in a stadium is not financially viable, it only adds 15-20M to turnover and increases costs dramatically (cost of build, interest payments, increased costs of cleaning, security, etc.)

Times are tough and whats forecast will be even rougher!

Unless they do what Juve have done and built like a shopping complex within the stadium but that is a question for size and availability of land.

If capacity was increased by 15-20k, but more corporate boxes and suites were built, then the income from those would be the greatest gain.
Arsenal have done a great job in optimising the corporate boxes/suites revenue at the Emirates.
Corporate boxes contribute massively to revenue, but can Liverpool attract enough interest to warrant building the corporate suites, it is not London.
To have a stadium of 75K and not fill it would be a tragedy and disaster.
It is a case of analysing the 'commercial market'and building a stadium against solid forecasting models.

I have visited some of the worlds biggest stadiums (80k plus capacity) yes a wonderful experience, but one can be 'very far from the action', viewing is not pleasant.
I would rather the club settles on a reasonable size, where enjoyment is paramount, and optimise revenue streams through the suites, let the corporates pay, but take care of the 'average joe' supporters (give them their moneys worth).

Is not the plan for Stanley Park inclusive of retail development, a hotel and leisure facilities? And as someone above says - it doesn'yt make economic sense to increase from 45K to 60K. That is whyt we have got to look to the future and move out of Anfield to somewhere were we can not only build a bigger ground, but there is room to expand even that. RED LENIN

liverpool cannot sell suarez. there are only 3 cf's in this planet who have his gifts. they are rossi (villarreal), messi (barca) and unfortunately Rooney (vermin). The two latter is not going to come to us barring a minor miracle and the former has had a bad injury which is likely to relapse so there is no way we will get a proper replacement for suarez
P-dog

It would be a great loss if he left. But hopefully his feelings about the EPL will change in the coming months, but it does seem unlikely!.

I'm not sure I would rate Rooney but I take your point

cozinoz

Rooney is brilliant far beter than suarez.

How many goals has suarez scored since the start of the season, whats that you say not many? (but he's missed 100 chances, well missed chances don't count)

Whats that Ronney has scored twenty goals in all competitions?

HMMMM

How many game's as Luis been banned for?

With Isla now long term injured. I hope we turn our attention to Sergio Canales and Ibrahim Affelay.

Could probably sign both for 20 million combined.

Here's hoping we sign Lavezzi too. This three would add some flair to the team.

Jonesed

Canales is on loan from madrid

Canales is on a two year loan at Valencia from Madrid yes, but he may not stay there for next season.

Jonesred {Ed002's Note - Canales has been out injured since October with a crutiate injury but remains at Valencia. He is on a loan to buy deal and will not be moving to Liverpool next season. I suspect that the player has no interest in a move away from Spain as demonstrated by the previous interest of Manchester City and Arsenal being rejected. I suspect that with Affelay out injured pretty much all of this season it is unlikely that Liverpool would take a chance on him. There is interest in Levezzi from several clubs including Manchester City, Juventus, Zenit and PSG. I think it would take a very high bid to get Napoli to consider selling the player and I think the player himself is happy where he is right now. He may be an option if Suarez leaves.}

Really looking forward to the game today. It'll be a relief to see us concentrate on what's happening on the pitch, instead of off it. I think Kenny should play his strongest 11 today and not worry about injuries. We should have the squad to more than cope, with Brighton and Cardiff.

Don't be surprised to see a 0-0 draw today, what are the odds? lol

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

I think he'll definitely play a strong team with maybe one or two exceptions...Carra might start?

LFC have been in the doldrums for the past few weeks and a quarter final spot will hopefully move us on!
