Would you see Drmic as a good signing? Him & Borini as back up to SAS would seem perfect for a season including Champions League football. Is Aspas likely to sold? Anyone interested?

Thanks Eds

Honest question, if we go on to win the League and Man United go on to win the Champions League. Who would be considered to have had the better season?

We were rank outsiders for the league, but the same could be said about United.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

As a United fan its the league all day long for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

It would have to be the Liverpool for me! First league title in 24 years, with the squad we have at the minute would be an immense, immense achievement.

Ed fellow reds, wish we were playing B, Munich .thought they were good?watch 50 minutes bored just like arsenal loads of ball possecion but rubbish in final third .dont think they would win prem .just my opinion

Believable0 Unbelievable0

They lacked a spark in this game and definitely seemed to struggle with the final ball - think a few of the players have been smashing the German beer in to celebrate winning the league.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bayern were like Barcelona - without Messi - ie no end product! Barca used to pass the ball around endlessly but had Messi to burst into life and either score or create. Without him, it is just boring possession stuff with no cutting edge.

It was so poor that a side as bad as Manchester United could easily have won.

Give me our exciting brand of attacking any day and I'm pretty sure we would have blown Bayern away had we been playing them today.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bayern would be happy with that result, united will find it incredibly difficult at the Allianz! I think they would win the prem though, one game doesn't mean they are lacking end product.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bayern played pretty well, wern't in top gear IMO, their pressing was fantastic (helped by Fellaini) but lacked the nous around the box. They had a couple of real classy moves but United sitting deep made it difficult for them.

Utd deserve credit for me though they defended well and looked solid and caused a few problems for them, yes they sat back and contained but better to have a shot in the second leg than go gung ho and end up losing the tie in the 1st.

On another note, what a goal from Diego in the other game!

This morning, City Talk were giving credit to Rodgers for his handling of the media and for his quotes. my favourite, makes me smile every time, is after the Utd game at Old Trafford.

"They had the Stadium. they had most of the fans. we had the ball."

To Ed02, your answer to my earlier question about city or Chelsea sacking the manager if LFC win the league and you answered "Of course not". I'm sure if Chelsea finish 3rd and don't get to CL final. Abramovich would be tempted to change and he doesn't normally stick, he likes to twist.
Only my opinion.

Lads, to show respect to our past legends with legendary moustaches and also a tribute to the glory days coming back to anfield I think we should all have a moustache selfie. I've drawn mine on as puberty has delayed me, but drawn or not let's get the trend going!

Just thinking about the larger picture here; like more than what it will mean for us and me, having been born the season they last won the league, and for the club in general. But thinking about the players and the manager. Nobody deserves it more than Steven Gerrard, in that he stuck with the club despite knowing year in year out that teams around him hadn't a hope, he must have felt like it was pointless at times at training but came through ensuring that the club was moving in the right direction and knowing that him just being there influenced huge moves to the club and that he could make great players stay. Can't imagine this team without him. Then there is Suarez, he deserves it so much after such an amazing season with not only goals but the fact that he is the hardest working player in the league, let alone striker. He will become a god there and there will be streets named after him and he knows what it means to be LFC and not just a job. He is highly aware of the status of the club in the past and what it will mean to everybody to bring a league home. He deserves it.
The other players like Allen and Henderson then who were dismissed but are incredibly vital to this team and even Lucas who has been through thick and thin, they deserve this. Danny Agger (esp him), Martin Skrtel and Glen Johnson, they have spent ages at the club and they too deserve it. Flanagan who came back in and is a local lad who has played so well. He deserves it. Mignolet probably can't believe his luck from coming from a mid table, now relegation battling club to potentially winning the league, but some of his shot stopping was so incredible and he deserves it. Then there is the other subs and loanees brought in to do a job (aspas, toure, cissokho, alberto, moses (who saved a point at swansea) and the veteran Jones, they never complain or make it known that they are hurting from the lack of opportunites, but they know the bigger picture. They too deserve it. Sturridge, the man who saved the season from the start to now with vital goals and awesome assists. He was never allowed to show how good he was at other clubs and LFC and Rodgers gave him that chance, and now sturridge loves the club more than anything. His matured personality is showing through and he deserves it. Coutinhos pieces of magic created so many chances for us and he deserves it. And then there is the manager, who wasnt just a manager but got the job because he knew what Liverpool was all about. It wasnt just a big club who paid more wages, but he wanted to bring the pride back to the club and seen the bigger picture. He realised it wasnt just a chance to win a league, but to become a living legend which is what the Liverpool family regard you as for being involved with them and giving back. It is also his extreme intellegence and knowledge of the game, the outside the box parts like unity and building rather than just the game that allowed this team to gel so well despite the fact they were considered average players. He and his staff deserve it so much. All the time I get asked why did you chose such a rubbish team to support and I always say I didn't pick them they picked me, when I watched Fowler play QPR in 96 in the pub with my dad. We all deserve this through all the pain of being a Liverpool fan that makes it all worth it. Not knowing that we are going to win from each week at bottom side teams and staying with it, to steam rolling teams and fighting for a league. That's the magic of being Red and nobody can ever understand that except us Pool Fans, YNWA. Sorry about the Essay Boys and Girls. concon

Now lucas is back, gerrard playing great and could prolong his career by 5 years in the DM position, do we really need another, I would like us to use any money available for a right back as competion for johnson and a left back as comp for flanno, we have too many centre backs so I can see a few as surplus to go, also we need left midfield I should think moses would be off, and another striker for champions league games as back up to s+s eg injuries, bans etc, we are doing so well and I see so much talent comming through we are showing a lot of teams how it should be done, we have six HARD games left it will be nerve racking it is for me so I don't know how these players feel . If we get top 4 i'm in dreamland but if we get title i'm in heaven.

Need to shuffle the defence in the summer.

We should get a Fullback that can play both sides and promote Llori and McLaughlin to the bench for backup for next season. Flanno has a place nailed down at LB if he can adjust to it, Sakho, Skrtel and Agger all have places and Johnson's place is questionable but he is looking better lately, the rest are replaceable in my opinion.

Toure, Coates, Enrique, Wisdom, Robinson, Kelly, Sissokho. Pointless waste of wages keeping them. 2 are loanees who have had an average season and half of them don't play because of constant injury. The only one I would keep is Toure but I would still play Agger, Sakho, Skrtel and Llori over him and I doubt he would be happy on the bench.

LB: Flanno/?
CB:Sakho/Agger/Skrtel/Llori
RB: Johnson, McLaughlin

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why do you want to get rid of Wisdom and Robinson? Rather we keep our local lads. These two will add strength in depth to our defence. Toure and llori can both go for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

Toure will be hard to sell unless its a free transfer, but seems unlikely as he would be more happy to sit on the bench than other players like him, and Can still do a job if required

Agree0 Disagree0

Johnson has been fantastic since he's come back from injury, he and Seamus Coleman are leading the opta stats for right backs.

His resurgence in form has been publicly spoken about by Rodgers who said:''We want to keep Glen here - there is no question about that, especially now he's in this form.'' Rodgers went on to say "He's 29 and we feel that he has still got good years ahead of him. No contracts will be looked at until the summer but his will be a priority for us, especially if he continues in the form that he's in."

Agree0 Disagree0

At the back all be need is Cole on free, a CB replacement for Agger, sell Robo and Coates, loan out kelly and one of wisdom and ilori.

Cole, Enrique
Boateng, Sakho, Skrtel, Toure, Wisdom/Ilori
Johnson, Flanagan

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree Haych. Cole strengthens starting XI and defers need to spend big in this area. Allows more money to be spent on LF and AM. Agger won't want to be back up to Sakho and it's fair he gets the chance to move to another big club with 3 or 4 years left in him. A quicker younger guy brought in to support Skrtel, Sakho, Toure with Ilori loaned out with a view to replacing Toure 2015.

Agree0 Disagree0

Flannagan has that position for the next 10years if he continues like he has.
Johnson, Flanno, Enrique, Kelly Etc

We certainly don't need Cole with his wages.

Cos has just linked real with a 125 million bid for coutinho and Suarez. Not that this would happen, but what would you guys do if this were offered?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No thanks were fine rather build slowly build a team
#spurs

Agree0 Disagree0

Not that we have the greatest track record as far as spending goes either, but one would hope if something like this were to happen we'd fare better than Spurs did. Still can't fathom that Lamela cost €30M, absolutely ridiculous.

Agree0 Disagree0

That offer is an insult mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Whether there is credence to it or not its a no from me! They can go sniff around somewhere else!

Agree0 Disagree0

That's not an insult at all, 80 million is world record equalling which leaves 45 million for coutinho. Losing Suarez would be a blow, but if they offered 45 million for coutinho, I reckon they could cash in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Suarez is worth double and court soon will be.

A lively 1st half showing from both sides this afternoon in the U21 match. Liverpool started very brightly with chances for Petersen and Texeira. A 1st start for 16yr old Ojo on the right of the front 3 can be very proud of his step up to the 21's.
Fulham withstood the early Reds pressure to catch Liverpool on the break on a couple of occassions without taking advantage. Fulham took advantage of their own spell of pressure. A quick free kick saw Fulham take the lead with their french striker latching onto a pass in the box and fire past Vigouroux. The young debutant keeper on trial from Tottenham might feel he should have done better although he had already made 2 excellent stops to keep his side in it before then.
A well balanced 1st half with Fulham holding the 1-0 advantage going into the 2nd half.

Anyone wanting to see how clearly we are Rodgers team watch our third goal from the start if the move were playing it round at the back and it feels like we're slightly under pressure but then the ball gets moved about back to the left to Flanagan who does a sumptuous cruyff like turn on Lennon and then forward passes to coutinho who goes on to score, no panicking, precision, every man knows their task and roles, absolute quality, 6 to go come on boys, on a side note this Sturridge unhappy nonsense is a joke, he celebrates every goal Sunday with the rest of his team mates, what more do people want, he obviously very much feels a part of a special squad, he's one of our main men, he's just a winner, one final note how good is the spirit that a striker who needs one more goal not even try and claim a goal that would take him to 30 for a season when arguably no one could argue if he did tbf, speaks volumes

I'm looking forward to watching Bayern tonight. It is not a foregone conclusion, but I expect them to score a couple at OT. I am interested in seeing how they compare against a team we beat 3-0, not gloating, just looking for a comparison of how we stack up against the very best.

If they get close to their scintillating best it could be a bad night for DMFG. However, I am plumping for a 1-2 Bayern victory.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I will be backing Utd at 11/2. Far too big for the home team.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think if utd keep them from scoring at old trafford [ big ask ] they could win it over there. that's their only chance imo. your right about the odds being too big but it depends on moyes tactics if they open up and attack bayern they will be taken apart.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bayern could easily hit them for six they could wipe the floor with any PL team on there day

Agree0 Disagree0

The only way man u can dream of getting a result is by playing a 10-0-0 and even with that they might get whacked for a six

Agree0 Disagree0

Well one all is not bad for them but away goal will kill them imo . having said that bayern were good but with a few additions to our squad I would not be too afraid of them

Barclays Premier U21 league leaders Liverpool take on second placed Fulham at Craven Cottage on Tuesday afternoon – and you can watch the game live on LFC TV and online from 1.30pm BST.
Kick-off is at 2pm.
Alex Inglethorpe's side lead the table on goal difference but have the same points as Fulham. The Reds also have two games in hand and with four games to go, they have a great chance of reaching the end of season play-offs to determine the overall national champions.
Supporters should note the clash at Fulham has been classified as a behind closed doors fixture so no supporters will be allowed entry into the stadium.
I will post team and match report later.

We just seem to be getting stronger every single week. Suarez and Sturridge just seem to get better and better as a partnership. Mingolet, Skrtel and Gerrard are all ironing out their defensive errors (3 clean sheets in 5 games!). Johnson has came back and looks like he has remembered he's a footballer, Flannagan and Henderson just epitomise passion and self-improvement. Sterling and Coutinho are finally looking strong and consistent.

The only weak link in our current team (and this really does kill me to say as he's been one of my favourite players for half a decade) is Daniel Agger. He looks jaded and struggling for form. I hope Rodgers doesn't get too caught up in the sentiments of football and puts Sakho back in soon because the likes of Carroll, Negredo, Dzeko etc are going to give him nightmares. If he retains his place, by all means prove me wrong! After all he was outstanding against a very physical Hull City not long ago.

I want to see Gerrard rested against West Ham. He has an incredible knack for upping his game against the big boys and I don't want him to miss the City game through suspension. However against a team like West Ham who will sit deep and soak up the long balls anyway, I think Lucas can be just as effective for us and he is still slightly better defensively for me which is a good advantage to have away from home against a potential banana skin.

This squad is just so exciting right now. Everyone is playing their hearts out and that's all we can really ask for from the players. 6 wins away from the title; I'm starting to believe.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I have been thinking of the same think regarding agger, also I think eriksen really beat him for pace during that match too at a point.

However I think brendan is looking for back four continuity which is most important at the moment. never change the back four is the rule

Also Sakho can't be expected to start sakho straight after such a long break. that's why I was expecting brendan to bring him on late on vs spurs to get some minutes. but oh well

Agree0 Disagree0

Think Agger's organisational qualities as well as his positioning and reading of the game are being ignored here. I know he got skinned for pace by Eriksen at one point and in fairness he has lost a bit of pace (injuries possibly taking a long term toll) but since his re-introduction into the defense we have looked much more solid. Agger makes Skrtel play better and this has a big effect on the team as a whole. I think dropping Agger would be a mistake and I think what he brings to the team is being under estimated here.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would go all out to get Pedro from Barcelona as he is quick, has an eye for goal, is ambidextrous and is suited to our style of play. Alternatively I would sign Christian Tello as he is similar to Pedro but is unproven mainly due to his age and how strong the Barca attack is. I think that it is now safe to assume we will be back on the grandest stage of them all next season and should be looking to strengthen our squad but I do not think that Edinson Cavani suits our style of play despite how good that he is and would be a waste of £50m+ in my opinion. Though it is good to see world class players mention wanting to join us again it shows just how good of a manager Brendan Rodgers is and how strong we are becoming.

Important update:

Yesterday afternoon Mrs Aguero rang me at work, so I let her leave a voicemail. She never rings at work so I knew the voicemail would be dramatic. Well it was some garbled, high speed, worried, accusatory little rant which ended with the words "so the washing machine is broken and out of warranty".
Instantly I realised the significance. Although I had already washed the lucky pants ahead of the West Ham match, I face the prospect of no lucky pants for the Citeh match!
Calling a Zanusi engineer today but what should I do if we need a new washing machine. We live in the sticks, there are no laundrettes for many miles. We're not flush with cash either if its expensive.
Should I reserve the lucky pants for the Citeh match or take the gamble that we'll have the washing machine fixed?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well I wish you washer a quick recovery.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ken I will happily come pick them up launder them I may borrow them to go to the bookies to put my grand national selections on then bring them back good as new whatever you do resist all offers from dags to launder them or florentino perez we will never see them again or option 2 ill bring my washing machine to yours we can launder them I can alsi make my grand national predictions sat on the washer while there laundered hopefilly a nit of thay lucj will rub off or option 3 just wear them again unlaundered they will be lucky stained pants

Agree0 Disagree0

Take the gamble mate in all probability the away game will be tougher
If no option left then we all will have to buy you one of those super expensive washing machines

Agree0 Disagree0

Ken, it's not 100% clear to me from the posts whether it's just the lucky pants or if the now-defunct washer also plays a part in scrubbing luck into above-said pants. I wouldn't be so quick to toss away the old machine. You never know.

Honestly, I would just now wash them for the next six weeks. Worth risking an infection or two, what?

Cheers.

Take them to the launderette. Lavish them in powder, slow wash and then a fragranced conditioner, followed by a work out on a fast spin.
Complete with their own tumble dryer till soft and fluffy.
If you want to row the boat out - and why not, we're talking the Prem here - get the girl in the launderette to run a hot iron over them.
Bingo mate.
As Shanks said, you only get out of the game, what you put in.

Thanks for all the great suggestions.
This probably would have made a half decent AF joke, but I assure you it isn't.
It's been taxing my brain all day (doesn't take much) but another possibility is to wear the lucky pants all day until the match is over, then preserve them for the Citeh match

Cheers all

Engineer came today whilst I was at work. He's fixed it, but he told Mrs A that it might not last very long.
Fingers crossed it lasts until June

How do you think clothes were washed before hotpoint/zanusi etc came along?

Hi Ed's and Reds . Do any of you think Mourinho or Pellegrini could be sacked if Liverpool go on and win the league. As it will be a massive failure for the Big Money clubs to finish behind Liverpool who were only expected to be fighting for 4th?

Look forward to your answers.
Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - Of course not.}

And let me guess, ure one of these supporters who really does believe good old Liverpool have shown all these sugar daddy clubs that money can't always buy success totally forgetting all the 100's of millions u have wasted on players and wages with nothing of note to show for it in the last 9-10 years but just because u have been mediocre at best that does not count!
Yep good old Liverpool, u show those money wasting clubs :-) lol

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair CTR since our new owners we haven't actually spent that much (net) if you also add wages compared to Chelsea and man city we are probably quite low. Or we are attempting that atleast lol

Good to see you back here CTR
How are the missus and the child doing?
Well in the last ten years LIVERPOOL have won the same no of UCL as you lot
We have won fa cups, carling cups
We would have won the 2008/2009 epl season if not for fergie time
Besides why to worry we going to win it this year
So now I'll advise you mate to go that sh!*e site of yours where all people do is crib, crib and then write ridonkulously lenghty post
Rant off
On as serious nate an absolute disgrace the fans who flew that banner over OT

Net spend over the last 5 years :

City - £479m
Chelsea - £282m
Man Utd - £138m
Stoke - £91m
Liverpool - £89m

The stats say otherwise CTR, I also wonder if you was complaining when the Edward family we're bankrolling you to no end?

Agree0 Disagree0

Im not interested in the financial argument but have to agree the fans that flew that banner over o.t should be ashamed of themselves to publicly humiliate the manager like that is simply low and wrong.and i'm not surprised it was the spoilt utd brats that expect to win no matter how bad they perform.and they are now a skid mark on the underpants of football.

Agree0 Disagree0

We will see how much you guys have to spend in the summer and me thinks you will be top spenders.

You don't get much for 138m these days.

Agree0 Disagree0

They also spent 80mil since the summer on three players.

With any luck Harry, Chelsea will win the UCL and thus keep the Premier Leagues coefficient nice and strong. We don't want the fight for top 4 to end up and fight for top 3. Especially when we are already looking at seeing 3 teams capable of playing in the CL not even qualifying. Arguably City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton, Tottenham and Man United are all good enough to navigate the group stages in the competition. English football cannot afford to lose that 4th spot.

Agree0 Disagree0

You can get 5 falaini's for just over 138m.

Not related to this post but I read something funny on the utd page yesterday. some clown wrote they should play falaini's further up the pitch to scare the bayern defence, I think they would be better off playing bungle bear!

If chelsea finish 3rd and no cl final mourinho will be axed IMO

Mourinho will be given a another season to clear out torres/ba and probably lukaku, and buy a striker. If he then starts slowly next season, roman may start looking IMO
