Glad to see the penny's finally beginning to drop regarding Joe Allen.Cavani and Ramires ? 40-50m?don't think so.Give me Craig Bellamy every time,at least a season left in those fast little old knackered legs !! B

Joe Allen's awesome. You're a person!

I'll be the first to admit it: I seriously underrated Allen! Sign him up! Haha still not 15m, but defo up to 12/13m, and I don't think Ramirez is ready for the epl, talented though he may be...Agger 20m, Adam 6m, Aqua 3m, Carroll 17m out, Allen 13m, Sahin loan, A.Johnson 13m, Amorebieta 12m and a decent 15m striker would be my perfect summer. Hope we keep hold of Bellamy as well!

Losing Agger would invariably mean the summer would be anything but perfect

Base their performances for their clubs and not on thier performances in the olympic games.

for all the joe allen haters out there:

Stuart Pearce knows less about football than my missus. he's a scouse hating, monosyllabic r***** with all the tactical nouse of a moth trapped in B & Q's lighting section.
Yet his GB team look good.
Why?
because of Joe Allen. This lad doesn't just understand the game, he controls the tempo, reads the movement of his colleagues, and dictates the pace. Class act without the showmanship that too many armchair fans think makes a good footballer.

Its actually quite funny watching Pearce scratch his head wondering how GB look so good.

keep the rest of your maybe 'marquee signings., If Macca reckons we're close to signing this lad, then I for one will look forward to the new season with a sense of real optimism.

BigBadBen

Pearce is a racist too...Paul Ince 1994

Isn't it weird but Brendon Rogers seems to know better than we do about which players are good enough for his team. I can guarantee there will be a number of times this season when posters on here look back and say 'maybe i should have supported BR and the club instead of crying that we didnt sign Cavani and Ramirez'.
Look up the definition of 'Supporter' and apply it - Rodgers will succeed or fall on his decisions, our job is to back him up and support whoever he brings in.

wonderful Suarez and Coates gets back EARLY and will make it for the opening fixture of the PL.

Or the opening fixture of Serie A

Since when was booing a player acceptable? It has always been the mark of an uncivilised crowd, I even can't stand it when some Liverpool fans boo Torres or Owen, yet somehow is the celebrated norm of the GB crowd at the Olympics so far?

Embarrassed team gb fan.

Watching in from outside the country i have heard many people comment on the booing.. it is not making Great Britain look very good at all.. sad really

I almost agreed, but if that nob Diouff was playing, Id boo him.

I agree it is always a sign of poor sportsmanship, i never like to see anyone get boo'd.

I fully agree. It's appalling and crass. There was only one single time I can remember when booing was appropriate but Gary Neville has retired now

I'm shocked at British fans reaction to Suarez throughout the Olympics, and honestly, I think its a relief it has ended early for him. But I don't know how this unrelenting, unprecedented attack on Luis will affect his Liverpool future. If I was Suarez, I'll think twice about it after the events of the last 1 week.

I just hope he stays, but frankly, I'll support him if he wants to leave. Evra is the hero now; Terry is a "god"; Suarez is the Villian.... Double standards at its height!!

I do agree with your point but i think suarez has more character as too walk away due to getting boo'd.
derryred

Don't forget Mr Rio Ferdinand and the 'Choc Ice' comment.

Suarez will

Rise Above Thy HATERS

I think suarez is the type of player that will get booed by fans no matter where he goes and the main reason for this is they fear him so getting booed in spain italy england dosent matter does it.Tommy Irish Red.

Why are we letting Bellamy leave for Cardiff? He may be getting on a bit, but he's been GB's best player by a mile and for periods last season he was our best player. His enthusiasm and passion for the game is fantastic!

Also he has managed 3 games in a short period of time, so maybe he could play more than one game a week

RedSG

02 Aug 2012 12:03:05
he want to leave for Cardiff

01 Aug 2012 21:54:09
Bad news for Suarez tonight but good news for Liverpool ! You think he'll be in starting 11 come the 18th would be a real boost i think . ynwa .

01 Aug 2012 21:52:03
i agree bassy, joe allen would be a great signing for us. when the rumours started i feared he may be a jordan henderson in disguise, but after watching him closley for GB and looking at replays of him i think hes miles ahead of henderson. no dis respect to henderson, he will be class...just think the pressure and price got too him last season! but what does everyone think of the fate of adam, spearing, shelvey and cole?
harry h

Adam to go. shelvey to stay. cole to go, and keep shelvey; he will be a good squad player to have.

Any interest in Moussa Konate from anyone? He's had a seriously impressive Olympics.

He's only 19 aswell

I remember Salif Diao having a cracking World Cup just before we bought him.

Just like El Hadji-Diouf a few years ago...

01 Aug 2012 21:48:47
i did not thing id be saying this "but what a game allen as had tonight" . interesting the way bellamy went up to him at the end too . think the Allen deal as already been done in my eyes . just waiting for the games to be over ??

Welsh connection perhaps?

01 Aug 2012 21:48:09
Heya, just wanted to say that there may be a few Ramirez haters after the game, so I just wanted to say that at only 21, this guy is quality and will really add further attacking options to our first team, and one match is not enough to judge someone on,and after all he did hit the bar, so a few inches lower and you guys would be singin his name!
Sorry for the rant people! Loving the site absolutely addicted to it!!
YNWA Cheers,
The Bear

Actually, as soon as he hit the bar I knew he'd be perfect and fit right in!

Seriously though- outside of the three Olympic games, I've never watch him. Is he normally good?

Yes he played very well for bologna. That is the reason why so many top clubs are after him. It's common sense.

01 Aug 2012 21:47:21
Any chance of us pursuing the young keeper Jack Butland, looks a very good keeper? {Ed001's Note - forget him, Brum are looking for over 10m for him.}

Lulz, £10m?

He hasn't even played a game for them, has he? He was on loan at a League Two club or something.

- Something Red - {Ed001's Note - he spent time on loan at Cheltenham and was the main reason they made the play offs. It must be remembered that Birmingham have financial difficulties, any transfer money received will almost entirely be taken by the bank. So they are not going to let their better players leave unless they are getting a significant chunk off their debt.}

10m is reasonable if he's to be England's next great keeper...

He's class.....I wouldn't mind him over Reina. If Pepe wants to do one then I'd have this lad like a shot!
ANFIELDPETE

You know that one!, you can get keepers for the 1st 11 for around £10m

Reina has been a great servant to the club and you treat him as if he's like any other player. He's been one of our best keepers and don't forget how much he's been through with this club. Great keeper and a great character.

We could of had joe hart for less and look what he has done since

01 Aug 2012 21:44:35
Was just wondering if eds or anyone else would know how long if any break do Suarez and Coates get before having to go back to training.

8-10 day sowill be back next week.

JW

I think Rodgers said they'd get a 10 -12 day break before meeting back up with the squad

Joe

As of now 13th August

After watching Team GB vs Uruguay, I know one thing I don't want G Ramirez any where near Liverpool and sign Joe Allen ASAP!

Red Tooth

But Ramirez hit the bar in the last minute - he's the best player in the world! Sign him up!

Red Ollie

Haha your exactly the type of poster people are always on here giving out about

Have you seriously judged a 21 year old on one game ??

what must you think of henderson ????

GET REAL

I like joe Allen but Ramirez is a world class player. Please don't judge the lad on one game as I watch him regularly and he will be a top player. I also have to say even Suarez didn't look that good during the Olympics although tried hard. In addition if you judged cavani on his Olympic performance you would rather heskey.

You're deluded.....Gaston Ramirez is an excellent player.
ANFIELDPETE

Stop playing FIFA and football manager do much and actually judge a player on more than one performance.

Ramirez has the build and potential to be world class , he could be like stevie gee

01 Aug 2012 21:42:00
cavani dont deserve 2 be in the same team as suarez. Cavani was absolutely s***e. Hope that shuts up all the fantasisers that want us 2 sign him.

Your a clown you look at a player for one game and the 60 odd goals hes scored in the last 2 seasons go's out the window if we signed him not that we will he would be an amazing signing have to laugh at posters like you

Yeah carrolls better

not

01 Aug 2012 21:41:01
I cant believe i am typing this but if Joe Allen costs £15m we have to pay it,he will change the way we play for years, what a player he is.Sign him up now Brendan.

Ah lads and it took the game tonight to realise this last week was oh signings like allen and dempsey isnt wat we need fsg should change or sell so i suppose there legends now ah rodgers is the man best manager ever allen will change the club as we know it.so fickle

01 Aug 2012 21:06:50
Remirez looks rubbish in this game! Joe Allen is twice the footballer!!

Ramirez didn't even play that badly. Stop judging him on 1 performance if you watched him play for bologna you would realise why top clubs like man city, Liverpool, Wolfsburg, juventus are all after him. Complete Bumberclart

Remirez did nothing for me in that game and I hav no interest in watching the italian league it is awfull! Joe Allen had a great season in the toughest league in the world, he looks a really class player! So out of the two I would pick Allen any day! You only prefer remirez cos he has a fancy south American name!

Hi Ed's
Do you know how I can watch the Liverpool game tomz? I live in Canada and there coverage is usually fantastic. But can't find liverpools europa league game anywhere?
Plz post so I can check yur comments
Thanks {Ed001's Note - I think you might well have to watch it online, I really wouldn't have a clue how to watch it in Canada.}

Couldn't find it on anywhere here in the US either, unfortunately. Normally I can watch the Europa League games on one of the Spanish futbol channels, but not this one.

Just hope there are decent streams out there to watch since it doesn't look like this one is broadly being broadcast anywhere.

Im in England and I watch First Row Sports free online- its usually decent coverage

I use livesoccertv.com as a guide for where to watch LFC games in Canada. It is currently saying no Canadian TV coverage of this game at all. So i guess you will be joining me and watching it online.

ChrisE

Thanks for replying! Awesome site! {Ed001's Note - if you use Google Chrome, I can fully recommend the Live Football app.}

Firstrow.com

Fox Sports Net are supposed to be showing it

For US-based fans, bit of an update. My provider's programming guide now shows LFC game on Fox Soccer Channel at 11am PDT.

I know there will be no specific DOF but when can we expect any sort of announcement on personel or have we completely decided nobody will be in that type of role? Eds? {Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware, there will be no DoF at all.}

Best signing Liverpool could do all summer is the " boo if your scared of Suarez " banner , final piece of the puzzle!

We would get laughed at it's you're not your!

Quality idea for a banner!

We make our own banners lad not buy them

Lol yes that one should be posted everywhere near the stadium so everyone see's it....would make them think twice about booing

1. just thinking about the poster; ahhh shucks the poster...!

2. thinking; wait.....am i actually scared of what he can do?

Answer; (slight nod / eyes shut) course you are {Ed016's Note - I actually like the "Boo If You're Scared of Suarez" If anyone can accomplish this and get it on T.V or have pictures of it at the game, you will have my respect}

I heard rumours of him leaving but he's dropping down the ladder a bit to play for Steve Clarke

On the official Liverpool website Jordan Henderson has given an interview about the game aginanst Gomel tomorrow night.

In the comments underneath it is unbelievable the amount of abuse Liverpool 'fans' are giving him. Honestly, when did our own fans become so nasty and hate filled towards our players?

What I really don't understand is how they can throw this abuse at our players and then expect them to put in a great performance next game.

JRG

Its disgracegul, most liverpool fans now havent got a clue

majestic69

He has had a poor season and will get stick just like Lucas Leiva did. Fact is, he is a very determined young man and like Lucas should come through stronger for it. End of the day he is man and the stick he is getting will build character in adversity so let people express their feelings.

Have you been on the forum on the website ? Just full of a bunch of muppets.

Agreed it is embarrassing.
DaveyLiver

Theyre not liverpool fans lads theyre them trolls chill.

Yeah i also picked up on that and it is a bloody disgrace. do you see the amount of running he does, sure he is not the most skilled player but he sure tries hard. even during his poorer performances when he gets subbed off after 60-70 minutes you seen he was out of breath. when he comes good they will eat their words, just as they have done with lucas.
derryred

Actually I think Henderson is one of our more skillful players (depending on what you mean by skillful). One example- he usually trounces everyone on the little LFC TV challenge things they do (keepy-uppy
and such) and seems like the squad generally predict he'll win them which says a bit about him.

Henderson is not good enough for lfc based on what he did last year , he does not how ever deserve the abuse and he gets good support from fans at the away games. i think he is rubbish but i support him because he is one of us at the moment

LFC - THE NEXT GENERATION

Not that we are going to lose all of our best players but for the sake of this exercise lets presume armageddon and we lose Skrtel (14m), Carroll (20m), Suarez (35m), Adam (5m), Aquilani (4m) and Spearing (3m) - actually that will sound like a great summer to some on here. In this mythical world (that some imagine to be real) we generate more than 80m in sales and the owners chip in another 25m. These young players (who are fairly realistic targets) could form the basis of a team which could challenge for the major prizes in a couple of years time.

JACK BUTLAND (8m) Looks like another Joe Hart, very confident and could be signed for an initial 6m and loaned to a club like Southampton for top-flight experience.

DEJAN LOVREN (12m) Two footed Croatian international who I believe is already a better player than Skrtel. AC Milan and Barca have sniffed around so a smart signing with a view to future sell-on.

JORDY CLASIE (9m) Check out this Feyenoord kid. He has the heart of a lion, an eye for a pass and a big future. Would give real bite, drive and class in the middle of the park. Looks a bit like Jay but much, much better and can also pass better than Adam. BR known to be an admirer.

GARY GARDNER (8m) The Villa youngster was a star in the NextGen series and many shrewd observers believe he will develop into a great goalscoring midfielder in the mould of his hero, Steven Gerrard.

JOE ALLEN (12m) I rate this kid and it looks like he will be moving to Anfield this summer.

GASTON RAMIREZ (16m) Hasn't shown his range of skills in the Olympics but is a huge talent and there's scope for rapid improvment into one of the world's top playmakers. Could be a summer target.

SCOTT SINCLAIR (7m) There'll be raised eyebrows at this one but his goalscoring record is very good and BR seems to like him. Another who could be a player who improves massively and increases in value. Could also move to Anfield this summer if Ed02 is right.

DANIEL STURRIDGE (15m) No doubt he has an eye for goal and a trick or two. Needs to get his head up but could be a consistent goalscorer with the right coaching. Should he become a 20 goal per season man he'll be worth 10m more than the price Chelsea might ask for him this summer.

IKER MUNIAIN (25m) A rumoured target for a couple of years and he reminds me of Rooney in that he is skilful and spiky. Works hard for the team and can play across the frontline. Can be a world star.

ROBERT LEWANDOWSKI (20m) His agent seems to be hawking him around and if Man Utd dont make their move and we lose Suarez I hope we go for this guy. A goalscorer, two-footed, dynamic and a team player. Less ability than Suarez but fewer problems and more goals.

If we lose Suarez and Carroll I honestly think Munian and Lewandowski (and a Sinclair/Sturridge for the same money) would more than compensate. Butland would be our get-out-of-jail free card should Reina want to leave, Lovren would be an improvement on Skrtel and Clasie & Allen would be a huge improvement on Aquilani/Adam & Spearing. If you got Muniain you wouldnt need Ramirez and with Henderson and Shelvey we wouldn't need Gardner although I think he'll become a player people start to notice this season.

The purpose of this flight of fancy is to show that even if we lose our big players (who helped us finish 8th lets not forget) there is always hope and a future and someone else we can love just as much (if not more) than the last Anfield favourite.

I await the flood of "he's not good enough" and "Chelsea/Swansea reject" posts !

PieInTheskyMan

It really might be of benefit if people had a self-imposed 2 hour wait period, and perhaps some food, after turning off FM and before posting on real life football boards. :-)

I'm just messing with you btw, in case you get offended. Some good players on that list but the massive in-out exodus and predictive transfer prices is not realistic. What about signing fees, wages, agents fees, not to mention trying to integrate them all in one season if (if) they are even suited to what the manager wants.

Awful. To many new players, the spine of the team gone, a year to gel ......

All good suggestions, apart from Sinclair and Sturridge.

I actually agree with a lot you've said, and would be delighted with all of those players - with the exception of Sturridge. He infuriates me! I know we all see different things in players but I think he's greedy, lazy, and not particularly skillful.
He scores the odd goal but his decision making is shocking.

Sinclair is decent, but don't forget a lot of his goals come from the penalty spot, and he's the talisman at Swansea. It would be interesting to see whether he'd flourish or hide in a team surrounded by the likes of Gerrard and Suarez.

Joe

Not sure about Sturridge or Ramirez but other than that i think that would be great.

Cant see it happening mind you.

Can't agree with Sturridge mate but there's credibilty in the rest.

What is really worrying me is that Suarez is constantly getting booed.

Having watched a bit of the matches involving Uruguay, all I can see is that he is playing well for his country, not diving, not moaning, not complaining at all. He is doing nothing wrong, yet is still being constantly booed.

TBH, it wouldn't surpise me if he leaves, not cos he's not happy at Liverpool, but cos he's fed up of the unneccesary abuse.

Not sure who the announcers were for others, but here in the US the two they had described the booing like this (paraphrased, but as close as I can recall):

"Luis Suarez who plays for Liverpool is being booed because he racially abused Patrice Evra from Manchester United and was banned for 8 games for it. Then, when he came back from the ban, his first game was at Manchester United and he refused to shake Evra's hand."

Not saying I agree with how this was presented, but this is how is was phrased and it's been said this way several times during the games. For the Americans watching this match (and others around the world) who don't know the whole story, how do you think this sounds? Does this make a positive impression of Liverpool?

He has said "I don't care If they (British people) boo me, because i know Uruguayans & liverpool fans love me" slightly paraphrased

He'll be cheered at Anfield, for the other half of the games LFC need to bang in a nice early goal and take 60%+ possesion. Make them cry enough and they'll forget about booing.

I doubt he cares about a bunch of muppets booing him. Liverpool fans love him, all the ability in the world and millions of pounds in the bank. A few clowns booing wont affect him in the slightest.

Don't let it bother u, he's paid enough to deal with that problem and as long as Liverpool fans love him there's no problem, it's not as if we cheer rooney is it?

Ashy

Suarez has more character than that.

Did booing ever bother Ratface, Cantona or Roy Keane.

Don't worry about it because I can assure you it doesn't bother Luis ;)

01 Aug 2012 21:20:22
Really hope team GB get a stuffing coz of their fans booing Suarez, im a Welshman and a staunch Liverpool fan what a bunch of w***ers we got in the crowds no doubt manks.

Or perhaps he's really not all that popular? Have to be honest, if I wasn't an LFC supporter I'd probably dislike the guy too. Racial abuse, shaking hand issues, biting, intentional hand balls, etc...

Joe Allen v Gaston Ramirez only one winner here tonight, now stop with the Allen is crap talk and playing FIFA and actually try to watch a game of football

01 Aug 2012 21:08:26
Got to say that Allen looks very promising, keeps the game ticking over and very rarely loses possession. Sturridge reminds me of Joe Cole, no footballing brain, doesn't know when to pass or shoot. Ramirez looks like he would rather be on a beach! Only one player to Liverpool for me.

brian.

Bellamy looked good to, and shame we never got Ramsey when Rafa wanted him as a kid.

Agreed. a lot of people on this site want Ramirez because he has a more a more glamorous name. they've never really seen him play, apart from his best bits on Youtube. if Rodgers wants Allen and perhaps doesn't want Ramirez then back him. he's been involved with training sessions with the best players in the world. he knows more than we do. if he doesn't want or doesn't buy Rondondilfinho Lopez, back him.

Rondondilfinho Lopez is injured anyhow and wouldnt fit into our system

01 Aug 2012 21:08:18
Can someone please explain to me why we need Allen when he plays exactly like Henderson, both don't do a lot just play the ball simple, surly we need more power and attacking ability in CM?

Am I the only one to think he is more of a defensive midfielder than an attackin CM? at least in the current GB formation he is a dm. can be a good back up for lucas thou. However, both him and ramirez are overpriced no doubt.

You really dont understand rogers style then. it is all about finding room and moving the ball quickly and accurately. Lucas, Henderson and Allen are exactly his type of player.

Haha - same as Hendo your having a laugh mate.

Passing Accuracy - Allen 91% Hendo 84%
Mins per Ground 50/50 won - Allen 14.6 Hendo 31.4
Mins per tackle won - Allen 35.1 Hendo 61.9
Mins per chance created - Allen 63 Hendo 83

Allen is the far more all round better player, more polished and actually puts his foot in, wins balls and is quicker, more agile and has more potential and great confidence in his own ability.

JK

Because he's better at it and he's ready now. And the future might well be Henderson and Allen, with Lucas holding.

F*** up Accuracy - Allen 5% Hendo 88%

He was AWFUL at the Olympics, not that you can judge a player on that.

at least if urugauy go out suarez will be back quicker!!

If he comes back? i'm begining to think all the crowd and press reaction has got to him to be honest. Think his mind is set on a move.

I agree, and Coates...and Uruguay are officially out btw

Coates as well

Watching GBR vs URU tonite...some interesting nuggets. Half of Liverpool's future (going by who weve been linked with) could be on the pitch - Suarez, Coates, Allen, Ramirez, Butland, Cavani? Plus both captains are currently Reds.

Allen does look very comfortable on the ball, never rushed, always looking to make the easy pass forward. On the other hand, Gaston is all petulance and frustration...

Just some thoughts.

Doha Red

Just to clarify my own comments before I get flayed unnecessarily....I don't mean to imply that Ramirez is not as good as Allen or vice versa. Just an observation from the game itself.

Would be happy to have either or both at the right price.

itll be really funny how everyone will love Allen now, and hate Ramirez...

Sooo true, now allen is easy worth 15 mil an ramirez is overrated

Lol wait for it

gh*lfc

Wait till tomorrow to see him get slated.... still allen did have a good game.

FowlerGod.

Indeed. As predicted, this appears to be coming true.

Question for one of the G. Ramirez fans- I've admittedly never watched Bologna play, but are his Olympic performances representative of how he normally plays? Honestly he looks slow, kinda lazy, and very capable of doing something really stupid at any minute since he seems to have quite a temper from the 3 games I've seen, but willing to stand corrected by someone who watches him more frequently?

Allen or gaston ramirez??
On 2days showin def allen i can see wat rodgers sees in him he presses well doesnt stop good passer reads the game and is quick ramirez is good on ball but slightly on the slow side and quick mention bellamy truley class
Basy

Allen has been fantastic so far i just hope this doesnt push his price up lol

I think that's a pretty fair Assesment. Joe Allen had a quality game he hardly ever gave the ball away was always making tackles and set up the goal. Gaston players well overall but he drifted in and out of the game, he dwelled on the ball to often and played at his own pace. He had their best chance and him and Suarez were the only ones that looked dangerous. If we could get both I would be really pleased.

In all fairnees but gaston ramirez relies on service more than allen, who takes it from the defence.

Dyson Hoovers suck!

Ramirez and Allen would both be quality additions judging by tonight's performance.

Yes Dyson Hoovers do suck, which is more or less the point of vacuum cleaners no?

Liverpool is not a big club they have won one big trophy(champions league) in 22 years and they have never won english premie league if you know your history you have won old division titles which is 18 apart from your history your small club in modern football I know it hurts but true and if you have seen old division tittle its same title which is given to teams who win division now days if you don't believe it just go and check liverpool old division titles and Qpr title which they won its same

I love you Eds, but how the f**k did this drivel get posted? And what does it mean?

BigBadBen {Ed001's Note - I was hoping someone would be able to explain that to me. I assumed it was in code of some kind, with it being complete gibberish otherwise.}

How thick?

Chris in Tamworth

Do you need counciling ?

You haven't travelled much have you lad?

Still a big enough club to attract sad t*&#s like you to a Liverpool site!massive club always will be

What are you on about. You come here talk nonsense and don't mention your name or which club you support. Your a disgrace mate your not worthy of Liverpool

5 european cups, english champions 18 times. only ac milan ang r madrid have better records.

B O H

And Your point is ?

If we're a small club why are you interested in our club? Because after your own you think Liverpool! Do you know who my second team is... the reserves... Whoever you are thanks for taking the time reading about our history... It must have took a lot of time!

I clicked the disagree I don't even no why I did that and why im writing this coz what a tit this person is.

Yawn.....

MIKEY

You mean every cup other than the prem?

What the hell are you talking about ' small club' get back to your crayons and colouring book, person.

Premiership used to be called division one,the league QPR won was called Division 2.

We've won 5 champions leauge titles and 18 leauge titles and if we're not big why does every team fear coming to anfeild? Like or not everton fan were better than your team :)

Hi, I am a friendless douche looking for any kind of attention. Please abuse me as it will at least mean someone is recognising my existance.

Are you mad bro? Was the top flight league of England the same top flight league as it is now? The only difference now is its sponsored by Barclays and has the term "premiership" or "premier league". So on that note keep shtum

Either 12 years old or a person from outer mongolia.

As far as Man Utd are concern football started with PL, but football for LFC started in 1892.

redphil

Firstly, learn how to punctuate, or we may turn blue and pass out reading it. Secondly, i'm finding it hard to decipher your scrawl, but are you suggesting that QPR and Liverpool are equal in stature? Surely not. Liverpool are not the force we once were, but we are always challenging for trophies and are still are major force in world football, taking in fan base (enormous) and revenue. Which QPR are not.

Sorry I forgot since we last won the league, 22 years ago we have won; 3 FA Cups, 4 League Cups, 3 Community Sheilds, 1 Champions League, 1 UEFA Cup and 2 UEFA Super Cups ... A total of 14 cups in 22 years isnt too bad is it? Any cup is a success so yes we havnt won the league but blimey I cant think of that many clubs who have won 14 cups in 22 years!

Ed1 mate i just checked on google and the picture of the trophy is same with us which QPR have won can you or fans explain how come trophys are same plz mate {Ed001's Note - what are you talking about?}

01 Aug 2012 20:33:10
We really need to hurry up and sign allen and sturridge both amazing players

Allen yes, but sturridge?

And i bet you wer one ov the same moaners sayin your sick ov signin young english players and wastin money

Sturbridge is like a headless chicken, got some good tricks but doesn't do the basics, also very greedy, reminds me of ngog.

How do you now he was "one of those."? Being sh.ot down for such an inoffensive post? WTF?

01 Aug 2012 20:33:03
Honestly, Joe Allan looks a better prospect than Ramirez.
DV>>D

I've only seen Joe Allen during these Olympics. But he has been Team GB's best player and looks a half decent player.

You can see why BR wants and rates him. Him Stevie and Lucas could be a fantastic midfield 3.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Is Ramirez still playing? Haha seems to be in hibernation!

Cant really base it on one game alone. Ramirez played really well for bologna and you obviously didn't see any of those matches but tonight joe Allen played brilliantly whilst Ramirez was on and off but when he's in his zone he can win you a match. That's what we need

01 Aug 2012 20:32:47
That ball was class by Allen, hows that for creativity? Got the job done.

01 Aug 2012 20:31:57
Not really a rumour just wanted to moan about the abuse our king luis is getting this was an issue betwwen evra and him that is being blown out of proportion do any of us really think that he is racist or that he made an error in what comment he made. I hope football fans will let it go as they will drive one the prems best players away.
P.s great site eds and keep up the good work read this site like 100 times a day im a little obsessed.

I've come to the conclusio Tom Cleverly is a poor mans Jordan Hendeson. Less versatile to boot to.
Jonson

Think cleverlyss been one ov the best players so far mate and il admit it even if he is a united player, also joe allen been good

You need to open your eyes mate!

Honestly thought the midfield trio of Allen, Cleverly, and Ramsey all did pretty well this game.

I think cleverly is just an example of another united player who is hugely overrated.

01 Aug 2012 20:29:28
i hope bellamy stays for at lest another season, he is quality!

01 Aug 2012 20:25:45
Joe Allen is garbage. Just what we dont need, another negative player. Passes sideways and backwards all game and when he is pressed he panics. Useless. Spearing is a better player. The money should be used to buy a quality attacking midfielder like Ramirez who will only get better. We also need a clinical finisher in the mould of van persie to play in the middle, with Suarez and borini either side. Get rid of downing, adam and Carroll.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

God knows what game you are watching. Joe Allen has been controlling the game and Ramirez has been hopeless. One cracking free kick apart Ramirez has been really poor all tournament. Suarez and Bellamy have been the standout players. Shame about the personic booing.
TJ

Thats a joke right? spearing a better player than allen? and since when did barca always pass forwards? are you daft sir or just trolling? borini will be the finisher, to say allen wont get better is to say you have no faith in rodgers. you're not the manager for a reason so shut up and support whoever joins our team.

did you check that superb ball he laid to sturridge. shut up you fool

What about if his name was Jose Allen? Also playing for Barcelona B, would that change your outlook? I bet it would.

Alex

Another ignorant fan who seems to know it all. The only reason allen is playing in such a way is because he's sitting in front of the back four. Even then..did you not see his part to play in the goal? Ramirez hasnt shown anything special in this tournament apart from a couple of decent free kicks.

Go back to peelin Spuds.

Joe Allen isn't a bad player. Everyone knows he is a quality player even the ones that say we don't need him. The reason being that we have players like him already. The only
Reason why I would be against signing Allen is the price £15 mill he is not worth and I don't think anyone can argue against that. E would be a quality addition although we have players similar to him. He's better than spearing and Adam and possibly Henderson that's for sure. Ramirez would be a quality attacking addition, we don't have any players with his skill and his versatility apart from Suarez. Both would be welcome

Theres a lesson kids. Drugs really do screw with your mind.

Passing the ball sideways and backwards...or as I like to call it, keeping possession. If you're that negative already, then next season is going to be VERY long for you. In case you haven't realised, BR likes his teams to play possession based football which will no doubt mean plenty of sideways and backwards passes.

As for all the hype surrounding Ramirez, whilst he looks gifted on the ball, he also looks slow and lazy. Anyone remember how good a player Veron was and how awful he was in the premier league. He was also gifted but slow and lazy!

Joe Allen for me every day of the week!

Cheers,

Raoul

He has no idea what he's talking about !! B

I hope I don't see another fan call for cavani to be signed for lfc, after his performances so far in London 2012, I know form is temporary and so on but seriously!

Same goes for gaston ramierez

Cavani is nothing without hamsik & lavezzi! Watched Napoli quite a bit last season and I guarantee if cavani stays at Napoli he's going to find it difficult especially with lavezzi not being there

Same does not go for Ramirez mate. Your on your own on that one

Why the fook are we selling Andy Carroll! Big mistake he's a threat upfront! He looked absolutely brilliant towards the end of last season when he was getting back to full fitness! I think I Liverpool sell they've made a massive mistake! Yes we paid over the odds for him which was stupid money, but why sell him now let him repay us! Plus the lad wants to stay an probe himself! I'd like to know what other fans think on here because for me it's guttering! I really hope Brendan realises he's a top top player!

Thoughts fellow reds fans?

My thoughts are if Hodgson had signed him for 35 million every poster on this site to a man would have gone absolutely spare and would have been delighted that he was leaving.
On a separate issue I really don't think he should be probing himself

Chris in Tamworth

Agree, he wants to play for us, he wants to prove himself, he want to work for his place, he's only played one full season. He's very young. He put us in the FA cup final. He had s***e service, especially from Downing. I think he could be a great player with a bit of time and development. We payed 35 million for him, no-one is going to play 20 million for him right now. Makes more sens to keep him and see how he develops next season. You put him on and he adds a different dimension to the game. If ticky tacky is not working out, why not have the possibilty to switch to plan B with Big Andy up front and someone wide who can cross the ball? The only reason I can see for selling Andy is that we are strapped for cash.

Totally agree. I see no benifit of selling him now. We can only loose out. Give him a chance this year and if it don't work he will still be worth the same money next year! I bet we let him to and in 18months he will be and England regular and playing for a top 4 team.

#givehimachance

So andy carroll wants to probe himself now

Chris lol

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

What, with hair like that!A few pints and bent over,i'd probe him !!

I'll agree he's a threat, but we don't need a 'threat' we need a goalscorer.

Andy is not a bad kid and I'm not trying to slate him, but frankly he's slow, doesn't have the greatest of touches, and spends far too much time running around in places that aren't nearly close enough to the penalty spot.

For some teams, he'd probably do well, but I don't think that team is destined to be LFC, unfortunately.

RDL

Look, if the lad wants to stay and probe himself, it's up to him....but we're paying him to play football

BREAKING LFC NEWS

Hairy Geordie wants to probe himself in front of LFC fans amidst fears he isn't justifying his large price tag. Several scousers were worried that they had paid too much for the services of the large and largely disappointing Northerner

Dont know about the probing he should get his guttering sorted out

Looks like we are wrapping up a deal for more top young talent. 13 year old Dublin lad will be attending the FA cup match were pool hope to get a deal done. I've heard he has turned down Utd to go to us so thats always a bonus. He has been watched a few times and plays centre back or centre forward strangely. Keep an eye out for this being anounced over the next few days. cheers
ravenrudeboy

I put a post up yesterday reminding people of this previous post which I put up in January now that the deal has been made public. Anyway was wondering why I got quite a few "disagree's". Some of the tosh people post on here and when I post a true fact people still dont believe it. Any feedback would be great. cheers

Champions league here we come!! In 2020....

What's the young lads name? Is he by chance a member of the rudeboy family? :P

I replied to your post with a question, but the two ridiculous posts above me got through, mines didn't, figures.

To the poster above about if it was a united player. even if i had only ever gone to one day of school i would be educated to know luis is not a racist ffs. all of these ignorant ppl need to pull their heads out from their arse. this is the olympics..there should be no booing.

If it was a United player there would be no issue to begin with...

It's weird that cavani is considered to be valued at 40 million. Yet all the hype tonight is about Suarez who has been linked with juve for 30 million. Ridiculous... Luis would get into every team in the world! Jayo

Yes of course he would -remind me how many goals did he score last season?

He actually had 17 goals in 39 games and also had 7 assist. Not too bad actually.

Why can't the greatest fans in the world be a little more patient? Rodgers is clearly working on bringing in players which can challenge for the title/Champions league etc and that will fit into his system and are PROUD to wear the jersey. I am under the impression he will move a couple of players out before bringing in better players (Allen, Dempsey etc). Liverpool never used to pay over the odds for players and I for one believe this is the right way forward. We as fans need to believe that we can win major honours without paying disgusting amounts of money like City, Utd and Chelski..believe and trust in Rodgers and the owners...YNWA

Been patient for 22 years lad, I hate that f**kin word now!

I get the 22 years wait bit but the current set up has only had months. I will be a Liverpool fan for life, no matter what. If that means we have to wait a bit longer to turn ourselves into a juggernaut again, then so be it. We all want the league title back in our hands but dummy spitting is helping no one.

Rodgers says he is trying to seal 4 targets before the end of the window. Allen, Dempsey, Ramirez, Amorebieta?

When did he say this? Just wondering, so I can try and find it myself...

I hope amberiente (sorry for the spelling) is a replacement for skrytel instead of agger. If so then I would be happy with that list.

4 players in initially and 3 more to replace players leaving. (otherwise we would have a thin squad)

Ins
1. Borini - £10.5m
2. Allen - £10m + £2.5m add ons + Shelvey on loan
3. Dempsey - £7m
4. Vargas - £4m

5. Higuain - (5m euros loan + 25m euros next summer)
6. Amorebieta - £8m
7. Maneul Fernandes - £7m
= £50m (just Higuain loan and not including Allen add ons)

Outs
1. Kuyt - 0.5m
2. Maxi - Free
3. Aurelio - End Of Contract
4. Bellamy - £2m
5. Aquilani - £3m
6. Adam - £5.5m
7. Carroll - £2m loan with option to buy for £16m (new castle) or £2m loan (no buy west ham)
8. Skrtel £18m or Agger £20m

= £31m (just Carroll loan)

= £19m spent this summer

= Stronger Team

...........................Reina...............................
Glen.........Amorebieta...Agger...........Enrique
...........................Lucas...............................
..............Gerrard............Henderson..............
.......Suarez.........Higuain.............Dempsey...

subs; Jones, Kelly, Coates, Fernandes, Allen, Vargas, Borini

rest of the 1st team squad; gulacsi; flanagan, carragher, spearing, cole, sterling, morgan

Can anyone confirm if Carroll has a sell on clause or not, i have seen a lot of posts saying there is (especially on the barcode page) and others saying there is not.

I think it would have been silly to have a sell on clause when we paid 35M for him?

There is no sell on clause. Just some deluded Newcastle fans think there is.

Eds,Taking into account all the rumours, what we have all gathered so far is...we want allen and dempsey....were trying to offload carroll for 20m and theres a lot of interest in agger where we would look for another 20m...add to that a "major star signing" on loan, with regards to Macca post...so cant understand all the negativity..correct me if im wrong but didnt FSG say money received from selling players would be added to transfer funds? so we could have a potential 40m+ for 1 or 2 more players. Thanks

01 Aug 2012 18:34:41
If Clint Dempsey was named Clinton Andres Dempsey Rodriguez and scored 20 something goals last season for Sevilla (in a much much weaker league mind you) I think many would have a much different view on him as a player. The fact that he's a Yank takes him down a few pegs for whatever reason. He can still play footy pretty well regardless where he was born.

He has a very high motor, isn't afraid of a tackle, can play multiple positions, scores goals, gets assists and is rarely injured. Getting a player like that for a reasonable fee (in the 8 million range) would be a very good bit of business in my opinion.

~Fresh

I'd prefer clintos, or clit for short

Texan not Yank

8 million for someone of his age is ridiculous mate.

Danny

Perfect squad player!

He also has a heart of gold, playing many games injured in order to better his team

Broken jaw..played 2 full games
sprained ankle..finished the game

hes perfect

Thas such a stupid post, we're linked with players with exotic names all the time yet there's some that we wouldn't touch with a barge pole, because we know they wouldn't work for us. Saying that most Liverpool fans wouldn't want him because of his name is a poor excuse. He's 29 and will not replicate last season especially for Liverpool, it's that simple. Plus why would you pay £12 mill when there's better players on the marker that are cheaper and younger...

And how is la liga a much weaker league, as far as I'm concerned the two strongest teams in the world play in la liga. Logical post next time mate.

Some of the greatest players in history have come from less than fashionable countries over the years.
You don't always have to be Brazilian or a spaniard etc to be talented.
Dempsey is talented and his fitness levels are on a par with a 22 year old. I'm not worried about his age at all as I see him playing well into his mid to late 30s.

MIKEY

Parker 5m (31) or Dempsey 8m (29)

for the guy who said 8 million is too much. buying a player at his peak always costs. IMO 8m for Dempsey is a steal !!

redphil

Oh and what did Arsenal pay for Arteta, Dempsey is better

redphil

What do you mean logical post? While Barca and Madrid are the best in the world, name another team in La Liga that would finish in the top 8 or 10 of the prem? It's a very soft very top heavy league. That's not debatable.

Ever? you sure? doubt it mate, and to be honest I loved Suarez, but some of his comments recently are turning me against him.. he needs to let past go and just get on with it.. Im thinking he's pushing Liverpools hands to let him go.. and if thats the case then he can do one, I hope im wrong of course.. but if not then fair enough we'll get a nice bulk for him and rodgers will go buy a legend.. oh and.. bets Suarez doesnt score tonight ;)

Did you just describe Suarez as 'the most gifted liverpool player ever'? Seriously?

people on here complaining that we need to spend loads of cash to claim champions league spot.but thats not always the case. i know chelsea and city spend a lot but look at arsenal. they spent virtually nothin the last few seasons but claim at least fourth place year after year because they have a manager with a piticular style of play and scouts that go routing for decent players with affordable prices.i think thats wat we need and i think we have the manager now, just hope his style of play works for us. all we need is a couple of hidden gems on the cheap and keep our key players

We never mention finishing above you in a debate because it's not a valid point, we expect to finish above you. One of your points in an debate would be 'yeah well we finished above you' yes and we have won 18 leauge titles, 5 European championships (8 if you include Europa) and we finish above you almost all the time. We've played in the champions league (god knows when everton played in the champions league?) so yeah you best point against us is we finished 1 place above you last season ahhaa yet we still had a better season than you an that was considered one our worst seasons in history. Says alot about the difference between Liverpool and everyone. A good season for everton is the worst season for Liverpool a

I am starting to come to terms with being a mid table team. The standard of players linked with us are appalling. But I suppose we can only survive on history for so long.

Waspy.

What kind of players do you actually want? Players that worth 30-40 mil and 250k/week wages? Or do you want young hungry players that will not cost lots of money but they will play for the shirt. Big players are money believers, they come to a team just for money.

We don't need to be linked with "big" players, we make BIG players!

You realize that there are players that are available but we don't go for because they cost too much....and the players we have no problem with signing are squad players brought like they are worth 20m, 16m, 35m... that £71m could have got us.

Gaston Ramirez - £16m in January
Jovetic - £22m
Benzema - £26m
Diego - 7m

Does anyone know if the Club are actively trying to sell Carroll or just open to offers above a certain level?

Mrpjd

I have no insider knowledge but in my opinion I think we are actively encouraging bids. If we were not I think the club would have issued a firm statement to that effect.

Personally Im a little disappointed, but I believe in Rodgers as a coach and if he thinks Andy doesn't fit then I guess its the most sensible thing. I really hope he doesn't go out on loan though, sending 60m worth of talent ( Carroll, Aqualani &Cole) out of the club on loan in two seasons really doesn't make sense to me and marks us as an easy target in terms of negotiating in the transfer market

hi eds
I have a question for these lfc faithfulls that question BR & fsg , way of doing things .
1. how much have arsenal spent each season on players ?
what are the ten top teams with the best youth systems ?
Im qit sure by now you are catching on, transition takes alot of hard work and time. if being an lfc supporter frustrates u so much , why dont u just cross over to chelski like el nino.

thanks Eds!

01 Aug 2012 17:55:13
Why do you guys insist on getting transfers in so early? Let Brendan and anyone else who works on transfers do it at their pace so we don't have to pay over the odds like last year. You all complain about how long it is taking us but then as soon as they come you're like "We spent too much on him" which is the most personic thing imaginable. Shut up and be patient you little kids.

BthekingB

You see the problem with that is, BR already has a task of implementing his football philosophy to a whole new group of players. It would be more organised if transfers were done early to as a group they can familiarise with eachother and not be behind the other group of players. This might also be the reason why rogers wants to bring players that he's already worked with, because they already know his policy's and are likely to fit into them. Problem is are those players ready for lfc...

Probably depends on other deals getting done.

The news in the northeast is Sunderland are speaking to Andy Carroll to see whether he would play for them, if he would, they have the money that Liverpool want for him! The big question is whether or not he would play for Sunderland. Jermaine Defoe is also on Sunderlands radar to possibly partner Carroll. They are also in talks with a loan move for Adam Johnson! Apparently he is interested.

Northeast red
YNWA

The Sunderland page is over there...

I posted about reported interest from sunderland in carroll , johnson , and also read maybe downing. lots of people disagreed with me , but it was only what id read in different media outlets. glad someone from that area can at least confirm interest if nothing else. steviep62.

Lol lol lol lol lol nope ,not gonna happen, very funny though.

Rubbish Carrol would never play for Sunderland, Defoe has numerous times he doesn't want to leave the capital and as for Johnson Sunderland couldn't afford his wages. They pay 50K max.

City claim Johnson is not available to loan but are willing to listen to offers. I cant see Andy playing for Sunderland. Fletcher is more likely.

How many of you want Raheem Sterling & Danny Pacheco in place of Stewart Downing & Joe Cole?

I am sure the two youngsters can't do worse than these flops. If there is room for anything that is improvement and maturing as they play more.

And how many of you would like to see Jonjo Shelvey go whether on loan or permanent while the likes of Jay Spearing and Charlie Adam stay put?

Jonjo is starting to show his class as a midfielder, I would be gutted to see him leave before the likes of Spearing & Adam.

If BR can show the door to these misfits Spearing, Adam, Downing, Carroll and Cole give their place to youngsters like Sterling, Shelvey, Morgan, Pacheco & Suso. I thinks thats what fits so called FSG's money ball policy. Making these youngsters into stars. It would save money, better way forward on & off the pitch. Not some overrated flops on bumper contracts of no use.

Come on BR show us the guts and show the door to these flops.. time to spare the club & us from their misery.

Also very concerned with Agger leaving rumours, unless we get 20-25M for him. No way we should let go of him.
He is a defender in his prime the same goes for Skrtel.

Bosco

Agree about Jonjo, can't see him being let go permanently given he's just signed a new contract, I think the club knows his class. I'd rather have him as an impact sub then Adam, who I like but hasn't shown enough quality.

I think Downing should only go if we sign another winger, I don't think Sterling is ready to replace him. Let Cole go to free up wages by all means, Pacheco is as dangerous as him.

Red Ollie

Spearing, Adam, downing and Cole are the satanic offspring of FSG and their pact with the devil. It's all a cunning plan to ruin LFC first, and then bring about the eventual downfall of football, the monarchy and eventually society itself. It will all start with FSG sanctioning the sale of Suarez, Gerrard and Lucas - to be replaced with joey Barton, Frank Lampard and Ryan Babel.
Mark my words.
Keep posting Bosco. It's our only chance to save civilisation!

BigBadBen

Now then Bosco! Don't think we''ve been acquainted due to my having to sort an issue or three out. Having said that I"ve kept an eye on this slendifourous website and somehow, miraculously I've come to the conclusion that you're a bit of a douche!! Another one living in a rose tinted past, who still can't stopp hugging (Delete as applicable) Kenny's or Rafa's nuts. No disrespect to either of those two icons but we're at the beginning of a new era, with one of the most vibrant and best young managers in the game. We also could see some coming's and goings player wise we at first mightn't be to happy with, but one thing I will do and thats give Rodgers a chance without pre judging him,his opinons of players in the squad, playing style, etc, etc. I suggest you sir do the same. Posters like you seem to get annoyed at the smallest things and seems to me get titllated, come alive so to speak at around an hour after a games finished and we didn't quite reach your lofty standards. posting the same said s***e about said player's,again delete as applicable. (Joe Cole/Stewart Downing) To be honest posters like you are a lost cause but if by reading this one of you Negative Nancy's stop the pissing and the moaning for a second and start to support the team, even give the new guy a bit of a chance, tremedous!! You never know you might even enjoy it pal. Good luck;-)

FSG knows only how to talk we did one of the biggest mistake to sale our club to yanks after getting rid of another yanks no stadium more then 2 years just talk and talk no action they don't have passion for the game they are poisonous to beutiful game if you don't believe then ask aston villa(randy lerner) or manchester(Glazers)

I've heard this a few times and I don't get it. Enlighten me why 'passion for the game' makes a good owner? I read this to actually mean 'they don't want to spend hundreds of millions to make my FIFA 12 dream team come true. Waaaahhh'. Am I wrong?

The Glazers are not great owners in my opinion, nothing to do with them being 'yanks' everything to do with them being jerks with supposedly pocketing some of the upcoming IPO money just being the latest example.

I don't think Venkys is great either for Blackburn, nor the Sheikh from Malaga who doesn't seem to want to play with his toy anymore, nor the wonderful folks who bought Cardiff and are still ripping down bluebirds for dragons.

FSG have done nothing anywhere near what the above have done, have been absorbing continual losses (quite a bit of it with an interest-free loan, which is highly unusual) and yet they still get nothing but grief.

I just don't get it...

Sure. I think FSG are good owners.

Aside from LFC, I could really care less who owns other clubs and honestly have no earthly idea who owns say Stoke as an example.

The country of origin of our owners should not be the point of judgement, their success over their whole time should be. Can you name me any brittish owners whose clubs have gone bankrupt?

Stevie G is deaperately punting for Torres to return to the club if Carroll goes.He was asked by Rodgers about centre forwards and he said Torres if we could get him back.
This is not bull' and he we may not get him back but if it was left to Stevie we would try.
There may be some moans from some fans about this but with the endorsement of Stevie and some words from Torres it could happen if Chelsea want to play ball.
Torres knows he wont be first choice again at Chelsea this season and has told Stevie that.Let's see!

And what about the small matter of Torres accusing the present owners of failing to deliver on promises and essentially being dishonest? I think he burned his bridges even more with FSG than he did with the fans. Its not going to happen.

What Steven Gerrard would or wouldn't like isn't relevant. If you go onto the LFC website you'll see that our manager is Brendan Rodgers. Dig a bit deeper and you'll discover that the sulky £50m flop Fernando Torres isn't very popular with most of the Liverpool fans.
ANFIELDPETE

I remember on Football Manager 2012 when I asked Stevie and he said Torres...

Don't relay your dream from a game.

And u r who to say that ?
rafa benitez or roman abrahmovich ?

That small matter about Torres and owners .who looks like they were telling the truth .i think Torres .

Liverpool need a goal machine, there no point having loads of ticky tacky possession, with no end product. I don't think Dempsey has the pedigree for the job. We need someone like Torres was.

Red Ollie {Ed002's Note - In the same way as boycotting Rupert Murdoch means no longer watching Masterchef

Great site Eds. Is it fair to say that the general tone of the rumours is downbeat at the moment with suggestions of more significant outs than ins? Do you see evidence of a masterplan here? Seems to me that we may end up with a weaker squad and fewer options. {Ed002's Note - I do indeed have a masterplan for world domination.}

I can feel a deep-rooted thirst for domination in the name of communism for Ed002

EDS is there a chance the Star player could be Adebayor he is available on a loan?

01 Aug 2012 17:16:56
How come Ba committed to Newcastle today?

His clause in contract expired at midnight last night ,so anyone wanting to buy him now will have to stump up a lot more.

His release clause has expired. He is now worth what Ashley's see's fit. So if you value Carrol at £20 million what does that make Ba worth?

If he was worth 7.5m someone would have bought him for that. Injury troubles, form problems, not worth the risk

Red Ollie

Ba is worth a doctors note

Well, apparently Ba isn't worth £7M to any club in the Champion's League... So I'd say his value really isn't all that high?

Still think they would gibe us him as part of the Carroll move

Because he's realised that no other club will touch him with a barge pole. He's stuck there now.

01 Aug 2012 17:11:40
Who is this potential loan signing pleaseeeeeeee!? Is it still on!?

01 Aug 2012 17:10:32
1) Ed hearing bery strong rumours about Adebayor on loan, Macca was right about a loan signing but not sure id class adebayor as a "star" but i am 90% sure this is who it is and in my opinion he would be a very good addition!

2)Another rumour i have been told is unfortunately regarding Daniel Agger, it is not a move to manchester city but a mover to Barcelona for around £18 million. Barca's interest in Luiz and/or Ivanovic have become less and less and are williong to turn there full attention to Agger.

3) well 1st thing we would need to do if the above occurs is find a replacement, this is more of a question really Ed, who would you like too see replace Agger and who do you think would be favourite? I would like Sakho but that is my opinion (i would like to here fellow reds on who they would have)
RedRob {Ed002's Note - Amorebieta.}

Well i wouldn't quarrel with agger if he wanted to move to barca.
derryred

Would prefer Sakho but if PSG are demanding 15m+ (which they probably would) Amorebieta for 12m is a good replacement- Left footed and fits they style perfectly

01 Aug 2012 17:09:23
Liverpool are reportedly working on a loan deal for Adebayor.

01 Aug 2012 17:02:55
This is how I forsee our transfer activity over the next month:

Firstly Aquilani will leave for about £3-4m to Fiorentina, and we'll sign Allen after the Olympics for around £13m, spelling the end of Adams Liverpool stint. Dempsey will sign soon for about £9m replacing Bellamy who'll go to either QPR or Cardiff, shortly followed by De Vries who'll replace Doni and Jones. Towards the deadline Carroll will finally leave and things will start getting more frantic. We may sign another striker and Ramirez or Adam Johnson could be a late adidtion. Also if Agger/Skrtel does leave (it will only be one if any) Amorebieta will replace them. Finally Shelvey and Sterling could leave on loan.

Most of that could well happen

I'd agree- all seems very possible. Only thing I would add is there is still very much a possibility of Suarez out I think, which might add to the ins column.

Sterling won't leave on loan....he's too young.
ANFIELDPETE

Sterling can't go till January 2013 because he won't be 18 till then

Sounds about right to be hounest, thing is I have a bad feeling that rogers wants to bring Sinclair as one of our wingers. Ramirez>Johnson>Sinclair

01 Aug 2012 16:35:03
Eds is there a chance barcelona may offer a makeweight in any deal for agger? Perhaps tello, affelay? And also man city do u think they may offer a makeweight? Would u rather have the cash?

Say 10m plus adam johnson? Or 15m and affelay or 8m and affelay and tello, seems good option {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

I think a season loan of Villa will be part of the deal ..ant

01 Aug 2012 16:31:19
I've seen lots of Liverpool fans questioning the future of Suso seeing as he is not in the Europa League squad.
I'm pretty confident he will stay and play some part this season.

Also Eds, if he does get loaned out for some of this season, what clubs might be interested?
Wigan maybe? Spanish manager + players, passing style that could benefit Suso's growth aswell. {Ed002's Note - I don't know of specific clubs but when he goes out on loan it will be important to get first team experience.}

01 Aug 2012 16:31:05
I don't believe for a second that Andy Carroll has pulled put of the europa league squad due to "injury"

With Newcastle wanting him and as well playing in Europe, they wouldn't want him cup tied for the qualifiers.

Do you agree Ed's?
Dan {Ed002's Note - No.}

Apparently your not cup tied in europa qualifiers !

kopace

You can play in qualifiers for one team and group stage for another. Newcastle are already in the group stages so his playing would have no bearing on that move. He's possibly being held back because he's talking to West Ham but more likely it's in case he aggravates his slight injury playing which would put a move to Newcastle in jeopardy

Red Ollie

Playing in the qualifier won't cup-tie him for the competition proper.

Torres to return to Anfield in a shock move, you heard it here first....

We didn't hear it from you first, half the people from the asylum have been reporting this for the last few days instead of spending their hour a day computer allocation playing Podd as they should be

You need to let it go torres aint coming back move on

Why do you want him back. he has been sh*t. if liverpool were linked with a player with a similar goal scoring record to his of the last season and a half then fans would be fuming.
derryred

And yet ironically many fans on here are fuming because Andy may leave who didn't exactly have a dissimilar (lack of) scoring record from Torres. Strange stuff, that...

Eds, would you either be able to link me or tell me who has gone for the europa league qualifier tomorrow ie who is the potential squad? Thanks guys great site {Ed002's Note - Try the club site.}

01 Aug 2012 16:15:40
Fiorentina have just signed Borja Valerofr 7m, in addition to Matias Fernandez from Sporting Lisbon. Ed, do you think Fiorentina are realistically still interested in Aquilani? {Ed002's Note - Don't rule out Aquilani moving to Italy.}

01 Aug 2012 16:06:46
i will tell you this liverpool fc will not finish in the top eight with the type of players rodgers can pull in no longer is our name anwhere near enough to attract them either, and it sadens me to say this i have watched LFC for over 40 years and i have never felt as concernd for our great club as i do now or the game in general full of mercenaires who are not to concernd were they lay their cap, only who will fill it.Few and far between are your carragher's who if cut open would read LFC all the way through, and as for the american owners i am sure they wont be there in 3 years time an will sell it at a handsom profit please post this as i would be intrested as life long supporter to hear any views
many thanks Neil

At your age you shouldn't be crying like a little kid.
red branch

If FSG sell for a tidy profit then that's a good thing right?
It's means they grew the club and increased it's value.
To do that we need to improve both on and off the field.
It's a shame that after 40 years of existence your still an person.

MIKEY

So you never felt concerned when H & G where days away from sending the club into administration?

You are right, the game is full of mercenaries, but your post makes no sense!

The only way to sell the club at a profit is fir it to become successful. The only way for it to be successful is to win things or at least compete for Top 4, by definition.

I thought it was only the kids on holiday who came here and spoke nonsense.

It is precisely because the game is full of mercenaries, and players wont come to Liverpool on name only, because they want Champions League as a minimum (few players excepted of course), that FSG and manager are trying to build the way they are!

Is it really that difficult to see or understand?

We are not owned like City or Chelsea, and I for one hope we never are!

The only chance we have os to build a team up, and not by buying 30M mercenaries.

How exactly is this the managers fault? Kenny didnt exactly do a good job of attracting 'big names' did he?

Liverpool has never been about buying the 'biggest names' in the market, and I pray to god it never will be.

I have been watching Liverpool for over 40 years as well.

What worries me most is the fans who now come on here spouting absolute crap. God help us.

We may finish 8th, or worse, but this has to be a long term fix, not a short term one. The sooner people start to take their heads out of their arses and realise that the better.

Football is on an unsustainable Gravy Train. The fair play rules will, in reality, have little impact I suspect, as the big Clubs are simply too powerful. But the world economy will bite some of these people sooner or later. I for one would rather have sensble owners, trying to build for the future on a sustainable basis.

Rant over, not good for me at my age, getting all stressed.

Blackosprey1965

You contradict yourself a bit by saying BR cant attract a decent quality of player , then say about mercenaries, surely if these are the players who we cant attract then that is a good thing!
I was speaking to a Rangers fan the other day and I tell you what he would swap how our club is run to how his was, bearing in mind that could have been us!
I really think most of us are slightly concerned about the rumoured departures, but as BR said we are also after some as well, so if some go some will come in, hopefully no mercenaries though!
John Wigan

Interesting debate but you can't deny that we always seem just behind the curve
1990s - we were slow to pick up on the kick and rush era of football where speed and power with direct football won leagues
2000s - going continental our foreign coach were too cautious and went over the top in relying on foreign players just couldn't get the extra push for a title
2010s - Wigan / Swansea / Norwich and co have already implemented the young coach + young players approach to survive in the PL again We are slow on the uptake (the city and Chelsea spendin cannot go on forever- fsg cannot compete with them) we cannot except other clubs to stand still and wait for us to rebuild and catch up

Selling our best performing players Agger/Luis/Bellamy will set us back further

We will need patience and luck under the FSG + BR era

When i type pelican predictive text comes up Mexican. It's javier hernandez from the mancs isn't it ;-) Redevon

What about the stairs?

The link between Daleks and stairs is that Daleks CAN'T CLIMB stairs. So it's a player that can't climb. Pelicans are famous for having wings instead of arms, and the Latin word "vember" means "arms" so November literally means "no arms". Therefore we're after a player who has no arms.

Red Ollie

what the hell is going on at lfc. ive never seen us be this slow in getting players in

Then you aren't familiar with Rafael "wait till the final week" Benitez?

BthekingB

Ian Ayre is involved don't expect anything to move quickly!

Its been like that since i can remember.

Didn't we just have the euros?
Followed by the olympics?
Players hardly ever move clubs mid tournament.
The window still has ages to go.
Transfers take ages.

Hope this helps.

Now you can chill out a bit and look forward to starting big boys school in September.

We try not to pay wages untill we have to

I remember when we got our players in very early doors........A certain Andres Dossena and Phillipe Degen.........I DONT MIND WAITING ! ! ;)

Who cares about the delay? Euros and Olympics on this year plus a new manager...I'm much more concerned with the players that we are rumoured to be selling and rumoured to be keeping... {Ed016's Note -Transfers take a while when you aren't a sugar daddy club, simple as that.}

I've just read that West Ham are prepared to offer a £36m package deal to bring Andy Carroll to Upton Park. If this is true, it's obviously initially on loan and then to buy in installments. Is there anything in this Ed's {Ed002's Note - Yes, and it includes wages. That would not be the transfer fee.}

Thats wages for how many years exactly ?i know half of it is the transfer fee but they want to offer carroll 18 million in wages ?
Seems like commoli has finally got another team to give his advice to but unfortunately that might get them relegated and they wont buy carroll at all next summer.. {Ed002's Note - It would be over several years.}

Tottenham to bid for Andy Carroll

Quote from Liverpool Echo
"Andy Carroll does not travel with Liverpool FC squad for Europa League tie against FC Gomel."

This is either because is head's all over the place and wouldn't be focused or he really is heading off.

Or that he's not fit or ready to play a competitive game for us yet.

i can't see why anybody won't be interested in the signing of aleen for 12.5 mil he had the best passing percentage of the league (together with arteta and I think toure) and he is only 22

our best was lucas (87 percent)

plus he knows how rodgers want him to play and to top it offhe was the heart of the midfield at swansea
not sigurdsson.

so does anyone still thinks he's that bad

And the best passer out of everyone was Leon Best. Should we pay 15 million for him too?

I thought we learnt our lesson last season but obviously not.
There's loads of foreign talent out there ata fraction of the price of the British players. Who after having one decent season their value soars.

Jonesred

Its not bad for replacing players like Adam an spearing but paying £15 mill for a player that clearly won't set lfc alight is not what we're looking to do. £16 mill and we could have gaston Ramirez who is compared to the likes of cavani and Suarez. That's what we need right now, game changers.

TO Jonesred

Okay you prove a point about a player who played what 5 matches last season

Allen I don't know how many he's played
but i think it's a lot more than 5

Its seems we have a different Dani Pacheco, he seems to of lost the atittude. On a few storey's about other players he is being mentioned as working hard and being helpfull. Is this right eds?, if so great because he was one hell of a prospect, and if so could save us millions in the transfer market.

redphil {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

He is quality - if he stays he will be great

Borini is quoted as saying that Dani has been the closest and most helpful player along with Stevie G and GJ in helping him settle. Borini also said that he, Dani and Suso have shared a few meals and he's told them that they are where he was a few years ago. He encourage them that moving back and forth to/from the reserves is part of a big team and said he thinks they will make it with a bit of effort.
Suso went out a scored 2 for the reserves the following day.

I find the comment (fact?) of Borini giving Pacheco advice kinda funny since Dani is actually slightly older than Fabio. Not saying it's not true or anything, just a tad amusing.

Frankly I hope some of the youngsters come good and overall one thing I'm always somewhat amazed by is how young a large chunk of the squad really is.

Good that Borini's encouraging them but his experience at Chelsea isn't a great advert for reserves getting a first team chance!

Just heard Dempsey apparently having his medical today ? great signing.

Not for £10-12 mill its not

01 Aug 2012 15:40:07
Quite agree with recent post saying that we should not be paying 12m for Dempsey and 15m for Allen. We got our fingers burnt last season with huge transfer fees paid for players who were just not good enough.

Just beacause they play for fulham and Swansea, some people think they are'nt good enough to play for us. What utter tosh. I'm sure if Dempsy had scored 23 goals in La Liga or Allen was playing for a top side we would all be saying what a cracking bit of business this is.

Danny.

Imagine we were signing Dempino and Aleno. You'd want them now wouldn't you?!

Zero

Danny, if that was the case then most probably yes. Dempsey is 29 he will not have another season like the last one especially at Liverpool and were paying £12 mill for him. That is not a good signing. £15 mill for Allen just for passing the ball from one defender to the next is not a good signing. These are not game changers, you will see next season I assure you.

hey ed. good work going on here..i would just like to ask u if is there any chance of getting dempsey and ramirez both.. or will we just get one of them? or u think we could push both deals..thanks {Ed002's Note - Liverpool are still pushing for Dempsey right now.}

Hopefully Ramirez too but it won't happen. Unfortunantly we are getting mediocre signings again

I just wanna say that some people on here shouldn't be so rude and disrespectful! Refering to Carroll as the 'biggest flop in premiership history' as I've seen further down the page is just venonous!
Yes, he seems to have not travelled with the rest of the squad and is most likely on his way out but do some people really have to stick the boot in?!

If he is leaving Anfield, I say good luck Andy

K.Bennett

Apparently they have never seen heskey

You can wish him well and despite the comments, I don't think anyone has any ill will towards him on a personal level but....it doesn't change the fact that he is a flop! He was hired to score goals...he hasn't done it. If you fail miserably at the job you were hired to do...what else do you call that person other than a flop?

Heskey scored quite a lot of goals for us for a target man.

BthekingB

Remember Heskey with his goal celebrations being a dj. One hand on ear (headphones) and other hand pretending to scratch disc. Quality striker for a couple of seasons was our 'bruno'. Redevon

He was a complete waste of money and space. For his size he had the strength of a 9 year old girl.

Heskey did very well given he played in skates.

01 Aug 2012 14:43:04
with so much of our winger gone and bellamy near going do u think we might sign two wingers

We must sign more! Though they mustn't be in the mould of Downing as a out and out winger, they need to be more the Suarez type with more winger attributes, quick movement, vision, smart passing, good shot and decent stamina!

If we lose Bellamy we'll have only 2 strikers and one out-and-out winger. Unless Sterling and Morgan are ready to come through, I wouldn't be surprised if we sign someone who can play up front and out wide. Sinclair perhaps, or Moses wouldn't surprise me.

Looks like AC is off, hope BR knows what he is doing. But have a funny feeling we will end up with 3 or 4 players that have played for Swansea. On second thoughts BR doesn't have a clue what he is doing!

Sama

BR & FSG know exactly what they are doing, when it relates to a mid table side who play pretty football or have a limited budget, i.e. Swansea.

Unfortunately, I fear that they do not know enough to do better than this, i.e. achieve top 4. This is shown by the targets/signings (Allen/Dempsey/Borini) and the fact that LFC look like they will sell what quality there is in the side, e.g. Agger/Skyrtl/Riena....

I know, I will get the usual 'you can't be a fan etc etc' comments and I guess we will see who is right in a few months time.....

For the record I would like nothing more than BR to be a success, but let's be realistic, it is not likely given what we have seen thus far.

I fear that the owners are trying to be successful on a relatively limited budget (when compared to what it has been seen to take to achieve top 4 success over recent years, aka Chelsea/City) and I just do not see it working with a manager of limited experience and a team will looks like will be made up of unproven players, especially when established quality players might be sold.

I believe 6th in the league is the best that will be achieved with someone who has never been successful as a manager (I do not call promotion from the Championship and mid table in Prem success).

If one or more of Suarez, Agger, Skyrtl, Riena leave then I have real fears that LFC will be gone from the Top 4 for a long time.

I really hope I am proven wrong.

ConnorsLFC

If any of our stars leave, I think you won't be far off the mark Connor. The 'can't be a fan, go and support City' brigade get right up my nose. We pay our money at the turnstile so we have a right to an opinion as to the direction the owners are taking the club and of the players coming in and players going out.

At the end of the day, The Americans and Rodgers may Take us back further but there again we may progress. Only time will tell but in the meantime any fan who pays his/ her money at the turnstile has the right to an opinion whether it be positive or negative.

Ozone

"given what we have seen thus far" - as in half a transfer window and 3 pre-season games? Hasty much?

SpudRed

We already gone from top 4, and potentially we can be forced out from top 6. FSG initially wanted to purchase young talents. But now found that young talents are even more expensive. Hence, they are trying for Dempsey and Vargas.

Interestingly, 15million of Joe Allen and 10 million for Dempsey show even if we have some money to spend, we cannot attract quality players. Ramirez will be this year's Mata and we will watch him destroying us.

Successful tika-taka style requires creative players who can hold possession and also can penetrate. Mediocre players can only hold the ball by backpassing, they cannot move it forward. Nevertheless, we can only moan, it wont make any difference to the decisions taken at the top.

Everyone has a right to their opinion, absolutely.

What I don't think anyone has a right to is demand that the owners spend a whole lot of money out of their own pocket (on top of what they've already spent) just to fulfill the "supporters" ambitions.

The only actual 'constructive' comment I've seen from the moaners on here is that the owners need to spend a lot more money. Fantastic solution- I'm sure FSG have never thought of that.

It's simply not going to happen. They'll be (and have been) supportive, but they are not Abramovich or Sheikh Mansour. FSG is not a singular person, but a business entity, so in turn they also have much less latitude in doing so even if they wanted to as they have shareholders/partners to deal with.

So, moan and groan away, but it's pretty unlikely (near 0 chance, I'd say) that the owners are going to pony up £50M+ like some seem to be demanding on new transfers this window and if that's all you care about is the size of the signings in, then I do think perhaps you're following the wrong club.

Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas is eyeing Liverpool striker Andy Carroll.

AVB has declared he wants a centre-forward signing before the market shuts and has been frustrated in talks for Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

O Jogo says the Spurs manager is turning to Carroll and ready to compete with West Ham United and Newcastle United for the Geordie.

Liverpool have accepted a £2 million offer from West Ham for a 12-month loan with the view to a £17 million permanent deal for Carroll. I bet they not interested they do it just to get on our nerves,

Brendan Rodgers has asked Liverpool fans to be patient whilst he pursues his transfer targets for the summer. Reported in the Liverpool Daily Post, the new Reds' boss has promised more signings but is trying to get them at a fair price rather than be tricked into paying top fees because the club calling is Liverpool.

To Summarise: Liverpool are been left behind because FSG are poor.

FredUp

Fredup f*** off we spent big money on average players last year so fsg have every right to be cautious to be paying big money on players again if fulham want 12 mil for dempsey move on if swansea want 15 for Allen move on no more 20 and 35 mil mistakes

If FSG need realise that a one splash splurge was never going to transform the club. Team building takes time and they should have see this and plan a strategy that would allow for extra investment if needed, and also be prepared for another if required again next Summer. Otherwise last Summer's spending really was wasted and we will back to square one by the end of this transfer window and lost tens of millions getting there.

City, Chelsea, United, Barcelona, Real, Bayern, the Milans, (you may consider them all loaded and some cases crazy), but they all still have investment planning and each one at some time or another have plans that include booster shots to improve their overall squad depth. Liverpool are now in the need of such a booster shot, and fear caused by last years poor investments is not a valid excuse for avoiding more. FSG and Brendan Rodgers should be made aware that a lot of fans are genuinely worried (and for the benefit of some people, expressing an opinion about FSG and the manager does not make a person a plastic fan).

Liverpool do not have to spend a fortune, but the club should not be afraid to spend on a couple players that will add much needed depth and quality to a very thin playing squad, currently I believe next years expectations are.... well maybe someone else would like to elaborate on how they believe Liverpool's season will pan out, positive and negative views are welcome!

I see Fulham have had an offer for Jordon Rhodes rejected. The fact they are going after Rhodes could mean we are discussing terms with Dempsy (Eds - does this seem likely?) {Ed002's Note - Fulham are looking to replace Dempsey with Rhodes - as has been explained before. Liverpool has an interest in Dempsey - as has been explained before.}

Fulham taking rhodes in place of dempsy well I think LFC should dump any thoughts of dempsy and get rhodes he is young he knows were the net is ( any one remember a prolific goal scorer in the lower leagues named John Aldrige what a goal scorer he became for LFC ) he has a resale value while dempsy is nearing 30 yrs of age no resale value it dont take a genius to see this even if rhodes does not make the grade we get a fee and it is not a cert dempsy will be a hit at LFC

It is BR's judgment that Allen at £12.5m offers better value than Sigursson at £8m. crucially BR knows both these players inside out so if anyone is well placed to make this decision its BR. Its time some on here trusted his judgment. Same goes for Carroll. If BR believes he could spend 20m on a player who would produce more for the club under him than Carroll would then that's BR's call. He is our manager and deserves 100% support. He is highly regarded, has spoken impressively when interviewed, has the right footballing philosophy and the players have all found training immensely enjoyable. He aint put a foot wrong since being installed as our manager. Now is not the time to judge him, its time to give him 100% of our backing. Reality Red

This really is an excellent post ............ please be on standby when the madness starts towards the end of August !

Both the Liverpool echo and the BBC are reporting that Andy Carroll has not travelled with the LFC squad to the Europa League match in Belarus. He was originally named in the squad. I believe new rules state that a player can play for more than one club in the Europa League if transferred so the only logical conclusion I can come to is that he's about to bid us farewell.

Ali, London Red

He is carrying an injury

01 Aug 2012 13:07:53
Hi eds, is Carroll genuinely injured, so that's why he's not travelled to Belarus, or is his absence linked with his potential departure? {Ed002's Note - I have no idea about an injury.}

Lets put it like this, if newcastle gets him then he would be allowed to play for them in Europa League.

01 Aug 2012 12:59:34
There is a difference between logic and plain negativity, some people will always be negative but others are starting to get worried about transfers. What we need is rodgers to go out and sign a marquee player then most negativity will stop. we have a good base so we should build around it we clearly missed wingers and a striker who can finish as well as a quality central midfielder/ play maker.

The truth is we needed someone to finish and borini can do that. I think we should go for gaitan, ramirez, m'vila and 1 attacking star that would make people take notice neymar (thats me dreaming), neymar, suarez, gaitan and ramirez would frighten anyone. We will probably end up with sinclair, Allen and Dempsey at this rate.

FSG say they want to make us great but talk is cheap, selling agger and targeting Allen and Dempsey isn't the right signal to send. My message to FSG is show us the money.

Lil Red

FSG did show us the money, n what did KING KENNY do with it? if i were john henry, i wudnt make the same mistake again.
Indian Buzzer

What money did FSG show us net spend is 30/35 million and have reduced wages do you want we should trust them blindly no stadium for teams who compete at highest level it like a player to them but that is our net spend {Ed002's Note - This is the reason why football fans should never consider money. It is simply a subject that many cannot grasp.}

Ed2 liverpool is in top 10 world most valuable football club in world we are spending money like everton or aston villa ed1 has said many times they can't afford to compete what your about {Ed002's Note - The value is in the business if sold. It has no relation whatsoever to the amount of money available to spend on transfers. Liverpool has been losing an average of £1M per week for the past two years.}

Ed2 before they bought they knew the club needs big investment they knew all the problems if we wont finish in top4 then whom should be blamed owners or manager {Ed002's Note - The owners have invested considerable money in players decided on by Comolli and Dalglish. It is hard to see way the owners should be held responsible.}

Andy Carroll has not travelled with the Liverpool squad to face FC Gomel despite being named in the squad.
Any ideas Eds, surely he is moving/injured or just sulking?

01 Aug 2012 12:40:24
Hi Ed's. I wanted your opinion on somthing. So far Aurelio,Kuyt and Maxi have gone. It looks like Aquilani and Bellamy will also go,with a chance that Carroll could be going on loan or sold . Not to mention Adam and Spearing being mentioned as potential sales.

My question is this, with potentially up to 8 first team players leaving and with only Borini brought so far, even with Allen and Dempsy mentioned as strong potentials do you think that BR wants a slimmed down squad for the season or do you think he will replace man for man all that leave. {Ed002's Note - Aquilani was out on loan so cannot count. Cole has returned, a couple of the youngsters could step up.}

We play in a league dominated by clubs that perform well commercially or have rich owners. We started down the slippery slope of being also rans when we didn't embrace ssn and focus on Commercial driven revenue streams. I held two corporate season tickets for 5 years and on many occasions was embarrassed to take clients to Anfield because of the poor service received by the hospitality staff. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather be on the Kop than in Corporate seats but the reality is that the club should be able to make significant revenue from corporate activities. Sadly, having to wait 15 minutes to get a drink means the opportunity is wasted. To me, Brendan Rodgers represents a step change and a sensible strategy. We simply are not at the same level as Man City, Man Utd or Chelsea when considering transfer budget or salary budget, never mind attracting the very best talent. We need to regroup, rebuild and develop our youth players to provide a competitive team for the future. There are realistically no individuals in our financial range that can change us overnight. Accepting that the rebuild will take time is essential. Just be happy that Brendan plans to play attractive football in the meantime and won't accept any less than the best from the squad. We don't own the club. FSG do. They obviously seek a profit. Results and Trophies deliver financial gains. Either way we all want the same thing, goals, wins, exciting games and total dedication from the players. Seeing the younger players in the pre-season games highlights our future potential. Sadly, we haven't given them the chances to demonstrate their capability at the top level. Maybe the pressures placed on the previous managers has forced them to go with the first team. Forget new signings, keep what we have.Bring through the youth and let them gain experience. We simply have nothing to lose. Aside from our Faith and Loyalty that is.

Can we read too much into the fact that BBC are saying Carroll has not travelled with the rest of the squad?

Liverpool say he has a slight groin strain....

I wouldn't think so because in that BBC article it also says it's due to injury and that if he played in the qualifying rounds for us he could still play for another team in the competition after the qualifying so it might just be the injury but there may be something else to it as is implied in the article. Everyone will have an opinion on what this mean for AC but nothing is certain yet!

Am i the only one thinking Allen is being brought to eventually succeed gerrard as captain

Yes I think you are the only one

Lucas is a natural successor

Crikey, we haven't even bought him yet! Pepe (if he stays long term) or Lucas will be captain after Stevey.

Lucas will be our next captain.

Kev.

The only one to replace Gerrard at the moment as a captain is Lucas. I can see him leading both LFC and Brazil in few years.

One Word: No

I hope Danny Agger is our next captain!

Ed's, could Carroll's inclusion in the squad for the game tonight be the biggest indication so far that he is staying at least until jan? PK {Ed001's Note - I don't see that it is relevant at all.}

If he palys will he be cup tied if he moves to Newcastle? {Ed002's Note - Except for an odd circumstance, no.}

Eds, Ive heard different, apparently hes not going travelling with the squad , you know anything? cheers.

JOZLFC {Ed002's Note - He will be moving at some point.}

ESPN reporting that Carroll hasn't made the trip to Belarus though...not sure how much truth there is in it but almost definitely means he's out if it's true

Red Ollie

He's withdrawn?
Hazza

Good luck carrol, the rest of the team will be turning up for tomorrows match!

He's not in the squad now though.

Ed001, my point was - would we play him and risk an injury if he was about to be sold/loaned out... Guess my question was answered by him not travelling.

Bellamy defo out as he is not named in euorpa qualifier...before you say because he is with team gb nd list could be changed,,,why Coates nd Suarez has been named then.
Harry oldbury

Possibly because Bellamy cannot play more than one game a week with his knees. So BR will save him for the PL games and use younger players in the Europa perhaps.

On the other hand he still may go but if he stays I can't see him being used in the Europa

It's still "early" in the window, and according to Rodgers LFC is in negotiations with several players and clubs.

However, it seems like we are about offload an awful lot of offensive power?

1) Kuyt - out
2) Maxi - out
3) Aquilani - most likely out according to most (I know, he has not actually played for LFC since the transfer)
4) Bellamy - most likely out according to EDs
5) Carroll - maybe out - 50/50 chance?
6) Cole - there are certainly speculations and he will have to step up his game
7) Suarez - please NO!

Lets say the first 4 is very likely to leave the club before the window colses, and we have so far only signed Borini. I'm sure BR will bring in exiting new signings as the above scanario will leave us extremely thin up front! I expect the youngsters (Suso, Sterling, etc) to get some odd chances, but we can't really rely on a major contribution from them this season, can we? We need experience and proven offensive quality!

Let's keep our fingers crossed...I strongly believe BR will do well and improve the squad before the season and take us a step forward - maybe not a leap to the top just yet, but certainly forward!

With all this possibility of selling our quality players. Liverpool are acting as if they are on the edge of administration !
They will struggle for mid-table at this rate.

AdminRed

If Carroll would be sold, we will find a better target man

Most ridiculous comment of the day ?

Trollred you mean?....

BigBadben

What utter twaddle! Just because a few clubs eye up our best players, none of which have been sold yet, we're apparently having a firesale and looking at relegation. Really why bother posting such rubbish? Please just bog off and support another team.

They are reshaping their team and all of the players will be replaced. just think about what BR can do with 50 odd million from the sales.
derryred

Possibility's meaning made up rumours by the media! i think a lot of fans need to calm down!

Put these words in right order to sum you up.

Head nob jerk knee space waste of hunter glory

It makes you wonder if some people remember the impact of an upbeat crowd on a (poor) team in season 2004/5?
Why the negativity? we need to back them and see what happens. Our C Lge this year is beating Utd, City, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal rather than Barca, Juve, R Madrid & Milan.
I'd also like to hear a bit more noise at Anfield this season it was embarrassing at times last year.

FSG just have not got the money. If they want a profitable business a football club is not the right one.

Yeah DerryRed Brendan could buy most of Swansea's 1st team with 50mil!

ed great work..
saw spurs match yesterday..
Now i can understand y we need joe allen..
gyfi..was execellent...his goal..dribbling..was awesome to watch..
we should have signed him..if he demands wages..we should have..he is quality..
8mill was an excellent price...he is better than..all of our midfileders execpt lucas and gerrard....
hope we get someone..who is good with the killer pass and score some goals..
with him and lucas in the middle and gerrard in front...gonna be lethal..

whats your thoughts?

When he played against us he was virtually non - existent.

Zero

Why does Gyfi having a good game show that we need Allen?
Allen has been mediocre at the Olympics and can't see what he would bring to the team

Well i would rather we spend the money on a player for the front 3 however if spearing/adam and aquilani leave then i guess that leaves positions that need filled.
Gerrard, Lucas, Hendo ,(Allen), Shelvey, spearing/adam

Sigursson scored for spurs again, what a goal! I wish we got got him, never mind, same as always

Is this the same player who many of our so called fans ridiculed Rodgers for wanting to sign because he played for a small club like Swansea? Not so silly now, is he?

Too many football snobs spewing out their rubbish on this site. Get behind our manager!

Red machine

He scored against the top outfit that is the NY Redbulls in a pivitol game. i remember cheyrou kept doing it for liverpool, how class did he end up being ?

We decided we didn't want him enough to warrant the transfer fee. I'm glad we're not held to ransom for players. If we had signed him people would be whining that he isn't good enough for our central midfield anyway.

He will rot on Spurs bench next season, the greedy get.

Wow, he scored in a friendly, seem to recall ngog doing the same for us the other year, and he had a cracking season

Hi All,

I believe if Agger is sold(if he wants to go only then) to City we could be looking at Adam Johnson and some money coming our way or bring Adam Johnson on loan to eliminate risk and get around £20 Million for Agger and buy Amorebieta who is only year older and is in same mould as Agger, very aggressive forward going defender.. and around 5-7 Million should be fine and rest could be used to bring another striker(Villa) on loan and option to buy if Carroll is shipped out. I believe most fans here are right in saying Aqualini, Adam and spearing doesn't seem to have Liverpool future and better off shipped and I don't mind Joe Allen and Clint Dempsey to come in but my ideal player would be Honda who is versatile player with ability to play in various positions...

Harry Oldbury

Another person dreaming about villa.... wake up please, this is not going to happen

Daniel agger is a beast.. best defender in PL..and thats the resoan city want him..we are not wigan or blackburn to sell our players..no ways to adam johnosn.
if they want agger...30 mill or more..or say good bye...
look levy from spurs...luka modrich is going to cost alonso + kahdiera together..
can u believe it??

I really don't want Danny Agger to be sold! If he is then it is a sign of the time's at Anfield! and will be followed by more star name's! These are worrying time's at Anfield!

being reported that bellamy is on his way back to cardiff hope this isnt true as he was one of the better players last year good final ball and popped up with a few goals, always got good pace which is agood asset as well hope he stays along with big andy carroll who looked good towards the end of the season a 2mil loan makes no sense at all. also wish bale would stop cryin like alittle girl about that charlie adam tackle when he shud be at the olympics if fit or not playin at all, let it go little p*ssy!!...redman matt

Tom Daley has asked Bale to partner him at the next olympics. He thinks with Bales help he can win gold.

How likely is a deal for gaitan, and any idea who our 'star' loan signing will be? Also is a deal for Gaston Ramirez close?
thanks eds would appreciate answer, great site

Gaitan would be a dream..but then we should not bid allen..either one...ramirez..is ma fav player..he would be awesome with suaerz and boroni..

Really don't know why we're bidding for Allen?

Anybody else sick of Tottenham f**cking Hotspur? If we are looking at a player they have to immediately jump in. They want to sign our players. Heard this morning that they are eyeing up Sterling. The sooner those never-were's fall over under the weight of the wage bill they have NO HOPE OF SERVICING the better. I think Liverpool need to be more aggressive in the way they deal with upstarts like this. Going in for their targets, driving up the fees and wages Spurs ultimately end up paying. Their ground holds 10,000 less than Anfield, there revenue is about half of ours. Why are they looking like the stronger more determined club?

The thing is with Tottenahm, they've been playing at being a big club for years. They think they are, but don't do anything every season. And they have got a joke of a manager who will be sacked by Christmas.

HM

But they got gyfi..which is an ecellent business...he was class yesterday against a good MLS...

Spurs are a wealthy club mate, and they also have a very shrewed and clever chairmen.

They have just completed a whole new training facility so they are certainly progressing forward and the lure for players is understandable.

But yes, I'm starting to hate them as well. All it takes is a little success and clubs lose their humility and become billy big timers. Spurs are heading in that direction and AVB will just add to that with the way he is.

I agree we should be more aggressive. What should happen is Tom Werner should go to the spuds and pull Daniel Levy from behind his desk and beat him up. That would really show the spuds not to try and pinch players that we are interested in. I mean players don't have a mind of their own and as soon as the spuds step in they all automatically want to go there. What chance do we have against that? Come on Tom pull on those boxing gloves and sort out the upstarts from darn sarth (poor attempt at cockney accent I know)

MUSHROOM

How are they the more determined club i dont know about you but we seemed to have spent more money on 1st team players and good youth players recently spurs will be back in 8th r whatever hole they climbed out off we have top shirt sponsor shirt maker deals they could not ever match.Imo there is a lot of work going on behind the scene on the redevopment of anfield cant see us moving.

Well said, concur completely...

Just sounds like 'sour grapes'!.

I admire daniel levy..
common man 40 mill for modrich..
he is the best negotiator of all times...

Who cares what spurs or any other club does ! ,all we should care about is L F C ,really looking forward to the new season .ant

01 Aug 2012 09:40:12
Just my opinion but I don't think we will sign Allen or Dempsey this window. We seem to have fallen out with both clubs. I think this could potentially be a crazy month of perhaps a few marquee signings but I also think there could be a few big exists in Agger Suarez carrol skrtel or a real outside chance of reina. I also wouldn't be surprised if adam or downing leaves this window too.

Well my opinion is that we WILL get Allen and Dempsey this window. I also think that there is a good chance one of Agger or Skrtel will go, if the fee is large enough. The same thing applies to Luis Suarez - I am a big fan BUT there have been 'problems' and for a large enough fee ANY player will be sold. As regards Reina - for a while now he has played as though he doesn't want to be here - IF that is the case - then get rid....the club is bigger than the player - we do not want tails wagging dogs - this isn't Chelsea

Puzzled

I really cant stand persons like you....soooo negative. Is the world going to end soon as well?

WTF premier sports what a load of crap. Liverpool will loose fans if they keep taking the p*ss. Who decides what channel our first game of the season is on. I am so angry right now. I pay for sky, espn, and the LFC online channel and they treat the fans like this. Im and so angry that they want me to pay 9.99 to watch a game which should have been free. They channel is so crap i refuse to pay a penny. To make things worse the LFC channel 429 will not be showing any replays of the game. This is not how you treat fans who pay vast ammounts of money to watch their team play. I would love to find the person who thought that was a good idea and give him a peice of my mind, What a f**king joke.

pork chop {Ed023's Note - Setanta Sports are showing the game too. I doubt Liverpool will start losing fans over this, seriously do some of ye just be stressed non stop? Chill out..}

Lfc don't choose what channel there games are on derp.

Oh my god, Are you for real, tv rights go to the highest bidder and it may not even be up to the club who gets the games, we don't tell sky or ESPN when they can show our games, they tell us, you must be some kind of strange person to have a near nervous break down over a Europa league qualifier, you'd think it was the European cup final, and to blame lfc solely, I have sky,ESPN and a subscription to lfctv but im not going to whinge like a little girl about it, ever heard off online sites that show every game every week for most, dear me, grow a pair

I have to agree with the poster. Who decides what channel should have them? Highest bidder i suppose.
Thank god for the internet
Tommy

Watch it on the internet! Its free

Couldn't agree more, I don't think I can support Liverpool anymore due to this.

I blame Brendan Rogers. It must be his fault.

Tristan

Ed23... I think Liverpool supporters have a genuin gripe about this. WHY, all of a sudden, does this Europa League match have to be switched from Channel 5, to a Pay Per View Channel?? I pay the maximum ssn package PLUS, the ESPN package. If the match wasnt to be shown on C5 for some reason, how come it's not on ssn? Seriously, fans ARE being fleeced, and in these days of cut backs, fans WILL see the light and NOT pay money into greedy corporate pockets.

Stevie. {Ed001's Note - because they were the company who offered the most money.}

You should try leavin the tv at home and go to a game.i know it might sound crazy to u but u might releive some of that stress that ed was talkin about

You could always pay and go watch the game live.

Why not just cancel your subscription to these paid channels, and go online and watch for free!!

Are you talking about the Away game vs Gomel? Because that will be Gomel who have the rights to sell to whoever they want as the home team.

Do you mean the same LFC channel that is showing the game on Saturday at 9pm? You are just another moaning cry baby.... always looking for someone to blame and something to complain about. Boo hobo you can't always get what you want, did your parents not reach you this?

I thought setanta was dead? What channel is this n is it free for sky cuztomers?

A 13-year-old Irish boy has signed a deal with Premier League giants Liverpool in a move that's set to land him and his family a €1m fortune

Conor Masterson was also courted by both Manchester United and City but decided to sign for Liverpool having already been a fan of the team.

The young centre-back - who leaves Dublin side Lucan United to move full-time to Merseyside when he turns 16 - has already met manager Brendan Rodgers to discuss his future at Anfield.

Danny.

All the best to the young lad.Am sure WE all hope it work's out for the young man.Oh and we even beat the mancs to sign him...YNWA!

West Ham United have offered to pay Carroll £90,000 a week over eight years in a bid to lure him away from Liverpool.

it's in BBC

How desperate are they then lol.

80,000 too much if you ask me

Thats a total of £37.440 million over the 8 years. No club would give a player an 8 year contract and spend that much money.

It's in the BBC gossip page, extract taken from that piece of SH*T paper whose name we don't mention. That in its self tells you something...take with pinch of salt

Sinner21

It is in the BBC Gossip Colmn, but it's reported in The S*n. Wouldn't wipe my arse with that rag.

Spurs won last night yet it seems all they want to comment on is Charlie Adam and the "horror" tackle. How pathetic. Football is a contact sport, and from what I saw it wasn't even that bad.

They know the modric saga is embarrassing and they're clinging on to anything else to distract the media from it.

persons

Shelveys Shiney Scalp

Everton fan here lads, i have seen that so called "horror" tackle and its not that bad omg i have seen much much much worse than that, yes it wasnt a great tackle but it wasnt a "horror" tackle neither and if it was that bad Bale wouldnt of played last night against red bulls would he. BLUE

Didn't seem to hamper Bale in his goal scoring performance either..

The challenge could have caused a serious injury....

But it didn't! So they should really move on from it

RedSG

He a pu*sy, drama queen

Charlie Adam gave him a tap on the ankle and he rolled about like he had been shot. I am happy to report that Gareth made a miraculous recovery from that "horror, career ending tackle". Scored last night.

Kev.

The hype surounding the Adam challenge is baffling it was mistimed not even worthy of a yellow Bale even kept playing, i do however find it ironic that the lad 'too injured' for the Olympics got hurt playing in preseason.

As someone eluded to earlier the club are using this to take the heat off the Modric situation.

Thats because its going to be an interesting season at Spurs, 'Arry made them the media darlings with his running commentary on everything, at one point i thought he was a Sly Sports presenter. But now Del Boy has gone and the new man Boas had a really bad time with the media at Chelsea, he thought he could charmer them like Jose did but the press know bad news sells. Without Sly's backing people might realize Bale has about 5 good games a season and any decent full back marks him out of the game, Walkers pace gets him out of trouble and the its madness he was in the England squad ahead of Richards. Without Modric Spurs are a top 7 side we'll see next season.

A few people have suggested the loan signing might be Adebayor due to his proposed move to Spurs breaking down, i sincerely hope its not. Its players like him that are ruining football, he'd rather sit on the bench and get paid well over £100k a week than go and actually play football for less. I hope City make him train with the reserves and fine him every time he doesn't turn up.

always a red

If bale was playin in the olympics like he should have been then it wouldn have happened

eire red

I'm failing to see the 'horror' also!
It looked like one of Charlie's usual efforts just a bit further away from our area!

Bales known for diving and making a lot of things, to me he should be at the Olympics but hes "injured", should be some form of disaplinary against him since he's ok to play. Tackle wasn't that bad, if you want bad look at the Senegal player on Bellers and apparently that wasn't a free kick.

There was less yapping from spurs when vinny jones finished gary stevens career by near cutting him in half.

I hope the next time Charlie Adam see's that Tart Bale he give's him more than a tap on the ankle!

01 Aug 2012 08:04:23
Why does so many want Andy Carroll to stay now when he was slated last season?? He's too slow with an awful 1st touch. He's the main reason why Stuart downing got no assists last season because every time there was a ball crossed into the 6 yard box our big lump of a centre forward was out at the edge of the box standing watching the action as if he was in the stand. It was only the last couple of weeks he realised it was him that was supposed to be in trying to get on the end of the crosses!! Sell him now for a straight sale. We don't need demba ba as part exchange. He not good enough. If he was Newcastle wouldn't of moved him out wide and then be prepared to offload him now. Dodgy fitness as well which we know all about in a new signing(aqua)
I think BR knows who he wants and we should just back him instead of just hoping we sign some random BIG name. I think he wants 3 very fast hard working forwards who have the pace and skill to go past players but will also work their socks off to pressure defenders like rushie used to.
As for the rest of the team I think it depends if anyone leaves which happens to all clubs so if agger or pepe or whoever might leave we just replace them and move on. Roll on the new season because I'm fed up reading about what might happen. I just want the football to start to see how we progress because I really believe we are at the start of a new era in the EPL where once again we will become the dominant team as long as we back the manager and players and give them time.

So the fact we invested heavily in a young player who started to show signs of improvement at the end of his first full season should just be written off?
The chance of loaning him out to Newcastle or another club where he might score 20 goals and increase his worth considerably not even be considered?
And your advice is to go down to the lower leagues and find a world super star striker ( like Rushie ) that nobody else has yet seen, before the season starts.
Yeah all sounds great buisness and footballing sence to me.
What are you playing at Ed why havent you pointed out this is the way a football club should be run?

I agree but there's a part of me that just thinks... you watch, he'll go somewhere else and start scoring 25+ goals a season!

His first touch isnt that bad, just look at his goal in the FA Cup Final!

I hope he scores 20 + goals, I have a bet with a young Man Utd Fan, that if Carroll scores 20 + goals in all competitions, regardless of the club, he will have his hair shaved off in our local pub
Higgs

Most Carroll fans are saying what if he goes and scores loads at another club. The rest of us are thinking what if we keep him and he doesn't score for us. That's another season wasted and he'll be worth even less. Fans are investing in match tickets, sport channels and jerseys. They deserve the best and it certainly isn't Carroll

I agree with the original poster BUT if you are 'fed up of reading etc etc' don't read it!

Puzzled

He is rubbish for liverpool if he goes and scores for some one else good luck to him and the team who takes the chance with him

I do agree with you that we should just back BR and if he decides to sell carroll then so be it. we will then sign another CF who fits BR's system and when he becomes successful we will forget all about carroll. by the way first commenter he didn't actually say to go to the lower leagues and sign a forward. he said he doesn't want BR signing a random big name, you know like hodgeson did with Joe Cole. As well you said a loan could increase his value, well it didn't work for aquilani did it ?

just for acouple of people positng about Europa squad - being included in the squad DOESNT cup-tie them from playing for other teams in the Europa/Champons league. only PLAYING a game for us will mean they cannot play for another team (and we cant play another player with the same shirt number).

With regards to Carroll, IF he plays for us in the qualifier, it means he cant play for another team in europe, so lessens the chance of a move to newcastle, i suppose., but this wouldnt affect a move to West Ham/Sunderland/Stoke, etc.

cheers {Ed002's Note -

Its not mate, you can PLAY for one team in the qualifier and PLAY for another in the group stage, check the UEFA website, also on the BBC sports home page

pls BR dont ever let Spearing near our first team.Learn from KK mistake last season where he could hv bought/loaned a lucas replacement, but instead chose to trust this mediocre player. Pls buy a DM cover asap. Its a very very vital part in a team :the engine room: i dont trust spearing or adam or henderson as dm cover. Ed is allen a DM or it was l.britton for BR at swansea? Why cant we hv britton as a cover? Cheap, experience, would love to join a bigger club plus Fsg loves great stats .i kn he wil b fr th swans but.he wil know excatly wat to do whenever he wil b called,

I think Joe Allen is being brought in for such reasons!

I don't think we'll play a specific defensive midfielder, but if Allen does sign a midfield 3 of Allen, Lucas and Gerrard can all play in the deeper play-making role role

I think Jay will play League Cup and Europa League games, and only league games if there is an injury crisis.

So you don't trust hendo but want britton. i know who i'd rather have.

We're going to have to get some top class replacements for agger, skrtel, suarez and carroll if they all leave and that will be hard tbh because their all solid players especially agger (who I will miss the most) and suarez (genius), however I think brendan rodgers can do it but I damn well hope that our scouts actually start to get used because seeing players like joe allen (who is good, but we don't need him) and scott sinclair just because they played under rodgers is annoying me. Ed's or other red's could you let me know if you think amorobrieto (sp) is a good centre back who could improve the team.

Eds, Just wondering earlier in the window we were linked with Adam Johnson & Daniel Sturridge but now gone all quiet can we take that as either there was no real interest or we are trying to keep targets in house to avoid bidding wars?
Also since Macca let this major loan signing out the bag would there be any chance it could be Alonso if Modric goes to Real Madrid? If not him do you expect this loan player to come from one of Spain's top 2?.

Finally heard a whisper if Carroll is sold we are looking at Jordan Rhodes, not sure if this is an alternative to Dempsey if that gots pear shaped or aswell as him but I for one would be happier with Rhodes than Dempsey, he's young & obviously got an eye for goal with his 40+ goals last season, yes I know in league 2 but still would be half the price of Dempsey & have a resale value if it didn't work out, no chance of that if it doesn't with Dempsey. Not sure how true this whisper is but thought I'd pass it on, hopefully things will become clearer this week with signings {Ed002's Note - All of these questions have been answered before - try the search function.}

Eds

Can we read anything into the team selection for the Europa Cup qualifier? Are players cup tied for all other European competitions and therefore less attractive to interested teams playing in these competitions?

Crazy Horse {Ed002's Note - There are certainly secret messages to be found in the team selection.}

Hi Ed002

Please could you rate on a scale of 9-10, with 9 being definitely going to happen and 10 being already happened, what the chances are of Higuian, Cavani, Ramirez and Villa joining?

Psychic Bob

How about 0000

Higuain is a 10.
Ramirez is an 11.
Cavani is a -5.
Villa will be a 12 if Suarez leaves but is currently a 0.953684673 chance of joining.

If ya psychic then why ask?? ha ha

SO...... tomorrow nights game against FC Gomel is on some tin pot station called 'Premier Sports', whats that all about??, Surely Channel 5 would have been a much better option for the potential audience, also the fans wouldn't have to pay £10 to sign up to watch PS. Seems like this hasn't been thought through, 1st competitive game under the new manager and (if we can watch!) we have to watch on this crappy channel. If I remember right, they cocked up the Rabotnicki match this time 2 years ago, problems with sound/commentary?

I remeber the game , didn't have commentary for the first half.
is the channel selected by the club , or is it out of there hands ed?

I pay for sky,ESPN and LFC online so i can watch the team.Buy the kits for my three kids. Spend a fortune taking my kids to the games which is a 400 mile round trip I might add. Just found out they now want me to fork out £9.99 in order to watch BR's first game in charge on some s***ty channel. Well I'm not doing it. You can stick premier sports up your ar5e Mr Henry.

Starscream

He didnt pick the channel, UEFA do !! LFC dont randomly go around and sell the rights to individual games. Bit like them saying there first PL game were going to put it on BBC3

Mike S

I don't think it's Liverpool who sell the rights, it's probably UEFA and then Liverpool get a portion of the money.

Snap!
Skurks

Heres a one time offer only available forever if you u claim within your lifetime. Over 10000000 channels for a small price of $0.00, payments are to be made weekly for the service to continue...........this service is called streaming :)

Mr Henry has nothing to do with it..... UEFA sold the rights not LFC.... Get your facts right before blaming people you ignorant, Ill informed individual and grow up

It happened 2 years ago you know. Not LFC's fault, Premier Sports have europa league 3rd round. Tough. Find a stream online.

It's the media company who decide where they show it and how much they charge - not the club.

The club don't pick and choose what the t.v. stations do.

I dont blame you starscream, they do everything they can to eek more money from supporters and in the current climate its daylight robbery. They are distancing themselves further away from the fans all the time.

Keep ya pants on mate, the club can't choose the channel.

My colleague's wife works for liverpool fc. I pester my colleague and the only reliable news he told me is BR is in 5th gear to offload Adam. Adam featured in pre season tour to attract interest or to somewhat showcase him to potential suitor. Remember keyword is 5th gear.

I work at Liverpool FC and just because I work there does not mean that I, or anyone else that works there gets 'inside' information.

Dont know how Bale came back so quickly from that career-threatening injury that Adam committed on him. Somehow he managed to get himself fit for last nights game. Anyone would think he was pretending it was worse than it was.

But are you sure it was Bale playing? Spurs may have substituted him for a strategically shaved chimpanzee and no-one would be the wiser.

everyone cut out all the wild speculation of players signing. can only sign players when sales are made. the pot is almost empty! bids for allen, dempsey etc are only possible with the assumption of 1/all of carrol aquilani skirtel agger adam leaving.

01 Aug 2012 01:41:34
Just watched Sigurdson score an incredible goal in a friendly vs. New York Red Bull. We really screwed that one up as BR is no considering signing Joe Allen for 15mil and wouldn't shell out more than Spurs for Sigurdson which would have been far less than 15mil. It was just one goal, but it was class that we couldn't manage against poor MLS teams... I am starting to wonder if BR is simply just "Doing things the Liverpool way" (BR's Way), of if he is just stubborn and close minded. When Spurs first signed Gylfi I was not too upset because I thought we would have someone better coming in like Ramirez, but that clearly isn't going to happen now. I'm anxious to watch our game on Thursday, it will tell us a lot about who is going staying and leaving the club.

Agger scored a good goal in the tour dont see many saying what great signing he is, we will see how siggi does br seen him at first hand and knew his true value imo what his limitations were.Tommy Irish Red.

Ed, is there any chance both Skrtel AND Agger could go? If they did we'd be in serious trouble... {Ed049's Note - It is possible, although the club is willing to tie them down to new deals.}

01 Aug 2012 01:21:46
Just a thought on one of Skrtel/Agger leaving. Isnt Amorebieta, who we have been linked with, left footed? Could be a factor.

Amorebieta is a left sided player and I think that he will be the target if Agger was sold.It doesn't mean that Agger will leave, or that Amorebieta will be arriving if he did depart. It is reassuring that the club are trying to set up a top replacement, because they have had interest and offers shown for a top player in our squad.

Who gives a damn what footed he is, if he can do the job as well as agger then we'd be laughing.

Criticism of the manager on this site makes me sick. I understand criticism when we're playing poorly, or losing all the time, or something like that. But we've not even played a competitive game under Rodgers and people are attacking him. The worst part is that most of the attacks are based off transfer stories that are just unconfirmed rumours. Yet the fans think they have a God-given right to say things like Rodgers is a "one-trick pony" and "not up to the job". It's disgraceful. What happened to supporting the club no matter what? Now more than ever the club needs to stay together as one and so-called fans criticising the manager for things that haven't even happened yet is taking the piss. It has to stop. Liverpool fans used to be the best fans in the world but we seem to be turning into a bunch of spoiled, whining children. My apologies to the large number of posters on here who do support the manager and the club, but the constant criticism from some really does make me sick.

Eds, Some big names flying around after the Macca post and its got me thinking....even though some are unrealistic...there will be quality players going out on loan...so why dont we take 2-3 of them for a season...If a reasonable wage is accepted and a possible buy..surely this would give us a better chance of getting CL football and if so...this alone would pay their wages and pave the way for new signings....just a thought...thanks.

An unproven manager who is ambitious and will not rock the boat. Quality players sold and replaced by average ones. No progress on any stadium.
This smells of Liverpool being set up as a massive tax loss, on purpose.
It is not always about making money, but hiding it and laundering it via a tax system.

Hi everyone, I'm a LFC fan from SA and would appreciate if this would be posted. Do you think that its a good idea for us to be making all these moves for what seems to be only players that have played for Swansea? There are so many talented midfielders that could fit BR style of play so why pay 15mill for Allen? No doubt he is good, but right now we need great players to come in and get the job done which is score goals. With the Adam and Bale saga, do you think this might put Adam on the market? With defence, we have failed in so many games with our top 4 as I would think (Johnson,Skirtel,Agger,Enrique),so if its Skirtel or Agger that goes, we really need to spend on maybe 2defenders. Strong defenders make winning matches easier. With midfield, I'm hoping Stevie G will play a more attacking role upfront with Suarez and Borini. Downing hasn't showed his worth but I think he fits into BR style of play. Bellamy should be the replacement for Kuyt and hopefully he stays. As for the transfers, we really need to approach RM as they are looking to offload great players. Is there any more news bout Affeley? Also do u think Sturidge could be the star loan? Please post and respond eds

31 Jul 2012 23:25:36
BTW it is easy to see that the loan singing is tello, he is young and barcelona would not want to sell him but would want to loan him out and liverpool have taken advantage of this!

31 Jul 2012 23:18:55
What is the current situation for Gaston Ramirez to come to us? Last thing i heard was his agents where in England to talk to clubs.. where we one of them?

Things will become a lot clearer after the Olympics. Only two English clubs are talking to his agent and that's us and man city. There's interest from others but all been put off by the price.

LFC won't pay Bologna's asking price. LFC want to get him on cheap which I believe would be a very difficult job. His agent very much in talks with LFC reps. Player wants the move. MCFC & Spurs behind LFC in Ramirez's preferred destination. He wants to be along with Luis & Coates.

Though the situation is in our favour if we play our balls failure to tie up a deal or sort out the situation soon could see Ramirez being snatched away from us.

SPurs is pretty keen on him and is their no. 1 target to replace Modric.

Cheers
Armando

If the rumour of this "star loan signing" is to be bekieved then im going to have a guess at one from the following:

Afellay
Sahin
Granero
Adebayor
Tello
Deulofeu

These are the only players that are anywhere near "available on loan" and from tose mentioned I would suggest that Adebayor is the most likeliest as he will probably replace Andy Carroll as it looks increasingly likely that he will depart from Anfield. Also, Adebayor was on loan at Spurs last season and as yet have not agreed a fee for is services. After the Sigurdsson debarcle, this would be a nice equaliser if we snatched Adebayor from there grasp

Thanks

Kam

So what about when citeh sign RVP...with the added factor of them wanting agger....we would never take dzeko...and they will want to keep balotelli....got tevez written all over it.

This is true. People that disagree haven't done their research to know otherwise, they just want kaka or villa lol. This loan 'star' will be on the calibre of the players that this post has mentioned.

The star player on loan will infact be Higuan as he wants to leave Real Madrid and he would like to play in the Premier League. THE TRUTH

You are a joke, go away with your senseless rumours, you previously stated that the star signing would be Walcott with an option to buy at the end of a 12 month loan period despite the fact he is in the last year of his contract.
Maybe there should be a new site for annoying dorks of which you could be the princess.

Just throwing this out there but could this mystery loan signing be the return of Fernando Torres?

Its well documented he had a bad season and the way Chelsea are currently splashing the cash a new ST joining them wouldn't shock me and we know how the Chelsea owner doesn't allow a player too many chances.

Like i said just throwing that out there.

Keep up the great work eds, an amazing site :D.

Last season all we really needed was someone who knew where the goal was.
Last season Torres was given a map, a compass and a GPS and still rarely found it.
It won't be Torres

Not a hope, Torres said he left coz owners broke promises and aren't what they make out. Owners said they will never sign him.

Carroll in Europa League squad. Surely this is the best piece of cold hard evidence that the guy isn't going anywhere?

Suso isn't included so it is conclusive he is leaving.

Ben

He is not cup tied if he plays someone cleared up earlier as it is still qualification rounds

If we show how much we do not want him that gives buyers the spur to drop their price for him , lfc do not want him.

Would he be cup tied if sold? {Ed049's Note - No}

Its to devalue him so when we get a rubbish offer we can say its coz he's cup tied.

I might be wrong but does it not matter until he plays in a euro tie...? Didn't the same happen regarding Owen?

guys is it just me or will anyone else be disappointed in signing allen, hes a decent enough player but do we really need another centre mid, even if we get rid of aqua and adam,we still have stevie lucas hendo to rotate with shelvey and spearing as back up,i would much prefer us to spend the money on a quality winger

Allen is quality

I'm guessing you didn't watch our games last season without Lucas?

We will play 3 in the middle. Our defencive midfielder is lucas. Our attacking midfielder is gerrard. We need a playmaker that can also defend as well like a box to box player. Aqua is a good box to box playmaker with good passing range and style but can't defend. Adam has to be fair left his game at Blackpool. So if both went we wont have a player that plays that position well. For me the midfield at Liverpool is very confusing. We have: lucas, gerrard, aqualani,Henderson, shelvey, spearing,Adam, cole. I know who we should get rid off, but BR goes and says spearing is the heart of Liverpool, Adam declares he's staying for sure, cole is making a diary. These are three players that I would move on but BR wants to keep them (i scratch my head). If we did get rid of the three then Allen comes in to make a perfect 6 midfielders. Gerrard and shelvey our attacking midfielders, Allen and Lucas our defencive midfielders, aqualani and Henderson our box to box playmakers.

He's quaility and knows the system inside out

We lost lucas and our entire season crumbled. if we sell adam n aquilani, it will happen again if things dont go our way with injuries. learn from the past, thats why we need allen, we cant depend on spearing.
