can't say I'm too dissapointed we didn't sign anyone in Jan. We have reshaped the team in the last 12 months and the players need time to gel and get used to playing for a major club.
new players would only have added to the pressure.
also a lot of comments about how we need 4th place. Yes it would be good for revenue and to attract players but as KK has said we only want people who want to play for the club.
for the mess we were in last year I would be more than happy with 5th place and a cup. Players want medals, who wants to look back on their career and say 'I never won anything, but played in the champions league'
we have a lot of new players who will benefit from winning a cup and from having a season in the Europa league. A lot have never played in Europe before and need to get used to playing midweek, the travelling, European refs and the style of football.
LFC is about trophies, and doing things the right way. Not buying success. KK is building a squad on teamwork and effort. It will take time, but will set the club up for years of success.

Sorry to be a downer , but in this world of multi million transfers , silly wages and in some cases huge ego's.

People in egypt died tonight. someones son, daughter etc.

|I love football and what good things it can do.

I jus simply ask take people take a second and reflect.

That is all.

Sorry for being somber but felt i needed to say someyhing.

To all supporters everywhere YNWA.

Mr Slonk The Red.

To Whoever clicked disagree, please explain yourself. you are a disgrace.

Mr Slonk The Red

We should all stop and think about this for a while, 73 people died for nothing, that country is just so wound up right now. So let's all hope nothing else like this happens at all, let alone in this beautiful game, which is supposed to be used as something to get away from these tense issues.
Let's also try our best not to think of the germ/s that hit disagree to your post Mr Slonk.

Red7.

Don't mind the nameless keyboard warriors who have no heart, mate. Anyone with a heart is better than that. RIP.

McSnuggles

Y.N.W.A my sympathies go out to the family's of those that lost their lives! R.I.P and Y.N.W.A ed is there any way that the people who clicked disagree be banned from this site? I for one don't understand after everything our great club has been through and fought for the justice of the 96 people that lost their lives!! you'd think out of most clubs our fans would understand the damages and pain caused by this!!

Runcorn Red! {Ed002's Note - WE cannot ban those who disagree.}

send out on loan:

teixiera

DORSET RED

Everything is good but i would prefer shelvey rather than buying sissoko and would send flanagan on loan too.

I like it alot. Crazy thing is, not too unrealistic either. Move over Comolli!

I like both your outs and ins... And not that unrealistic either. Give DC a call.

Agreed with the rest- realistic and not a bad couple of squads in the end. Only slight change I might make is to keep Kuyt. Realize he's not at his best, but it would be a shame to lose his enthusiasm.

I'd like to see Eriksson from Ajax for midfield. And Cavani up top. We have a good enough squad now, it's time to add the worldies!

Hugh Pugh. {Ed016's Note - Wait to see if we get champions league}

It's a good couple of squads but the first team isn't much of an improvement on what we already have imo. Ramirez, De Jong and Sissoko are all unproven at the highest level

Evening Eds,
Reading through some of yesterday's posts made me laugh! Do some of the genius' on here think that the Eds / Macca sign players? As some folk were getting a bit shirty!
Cracking job again from you all, keep up the good work!
Ultra red {Ed001's Note - sometimes I just think they are sent here from other sites to stir crap. I mean to have a go at us not knowing anything, when we had repeatedly said we can't get anything from within the club, seems a bit, well stupid really. Sometimes makes you wonder why they would bother banging on about it, unless they have ulterior motives.}

To me it seems a bit nonsensical to say that though as its pretty pointless asking the Eds for info if you simply get a "I don't know" respons its a very good site but if you want a completely accurate answer then there is no point asking hence why its a rumour page. {Ed001's Note - would you prefer us to make up some lies then?}

Ed001 mate, I think he was more referring to them being complete knuckleheads versus you not knowing anything. At least, I hope so...

Cheers 001, keep rinsing the fools pal, makes me p!ss!

my team for spurs:
--------------reina-----------------
-kelly--skrtel-agger-enrique-
-------spearing-gerrard-----
-bellamy----suarez----downing-
--------------carroll---------------
bench:doni/carra/johnson/shelvey/adam/henderson/kuyt

gerrard did a good job on silva so sit him on modric.lots of pace on either flank to combat bale n lennon.parker will be too busy watching suarez so big andy to tear them up

DORSET RED

Nice . as long as bellers and downing track back when needed . Good shout for Adam , good passing other night.

Mr Slonk The Red

Your forgetting 1 thing king had suarez in his pocket every game since suarez came to England. A 38yr old ran the game & gerrard couldn't stop him what chance has he against modric,
So no need for parker to mark suarez,
Modric & vdv to run the game
Lvpool to resort to kicking players coz they cant compete technically
End result - Another footballing lesson
Espur
Beyond that good luck for rest of season & hope you's or Newcastle get 4th ahead of chelski
Espur

Think we need to pack the midfield and mark the wingers. Bellamy, Kuyt and Carroll should all start after their goals. Suarez should start on the bench as well as if things don't go our way and he starts we've not got much on the bench to change the game around, whereas a Suarez introduction could completely change the game. Only decisions for me are between Kelly/Johnson and Adam/Henderson. I'd go for Kelly as I think he's better defensively, and Henderson as he's more mobile:

Reina
Kelly-Skrtel-Agger-Enrique
Kuyt-Gerrard-Spearing-Henderson-Bellamy
Carroll

Doni, Carragher, Johnson, Adam, Maxi, Downing, Suarez

Red Ollie

Suarez has played Spurs but twice since he's been here, and chances are Ledley was too busy whining about his knee to make the pitch anyway. Shove off.

Arsenal have dropped points tonight... makes yesterdays result look even better. Let's put in a good performance on Monday and close the gap further!

What about the invisible team in 5th with all their best players due to return and an easy run in including you lot at home ?

Would that happen to be the barcorders who stuffed at Anfield just over month ago and that was with your full team intact. You in 5th at the end of the season, a possiblity but I don't so.

Do you have to play in the final(carling cup) to get a medal, or how many games do you need to play in to get a medal? Cheers ed {Ed001's Note - sorry I don't know how many games it takes to get a medal.}

You have to play 3 games in total to get a medal mate so if sorry when we win Lucas will get a medal

Dont forget that half of Tottenhams u19s are out on loan so you lot lost to a weakened team. Tottenham deserved the win and Liverpool should of had at least 2 red cards but refs just love robbing Spurs.
Someone said something about goalkeepers having blinders, what like Wayne Henessey last night? lol. Maybe its your strikers being cr@p, just like tonight.
Come on you Spurs.

Pathetic that you've got to come on a liverpool forum , what's a matter none of the spuds will talk to ya . sad

Unlucky for the young lads tonight sterling was good but if morgan had come on earlier we wouldve won it ngoo poor enough he will never make it, not a good player at all, realistically you need to be performing every week to be called up to the senior squad and these young lads just havent been doing it. Fair play to them tonight though they deserved more. I mean people on here go on about suso and the likes but you only see bits and pieces they dont peform every week watch these guys regularly and then form an opinion.

And remember their physical stature is still developing immensely.

I totally agree wit KK not adding to his squad if the right players was not available he might as well save the money until the summer as we have a great squad already.

I just want to say how important jay spearing is to our midfield. Without lucas he gives the team a platform to play from. And he is not scared of a tackle. Last night he was superb and he just seems to be getting better with every game.

Hey ed(s) I havnt heard much about the lad that came on trail in the summer NACHO is he a liverpool player or not cause he came with alot of promise.

I read somewhere that he had had an operation.

On the topic of youth, what style of play does texeria play? Would he compliment our already present playmaker as in suso. What number in academy ranking is ours ranked at?

Great performance by the kids tonight. Unlucky not to come away with a result. It seems that opposition goal keepers play their best game against us, no matter what age they are. lol

What a player Sterling could be. He could be a fantastic player, if he continues to develop, like he has.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

He's certainly a stand-out at that age. Pace to burn.
None of them are ready for the big team at the moment IMO though. Posters should stop saying that. There'll be one or two loan deals in the next season maybe.
The Real KB

I agree Blair mate! There's a few players there that could make that leap soon! Everyone raves about sterling and what a player! But suso is the one to watch years ahead in the mental department ge sees everything that's going on around him! So glad Woy didn't give him to fulham!

Runcorn Red!

Fully agree, I was also very pleased with Suso some of his and Sterlings link up play was brilliant, that through ball to Sterling was class we have to real future gems there.

Tom.

I agree mate i thought the ref was spurs best player. our kids are a great team

Blair, the spurs team had six players missing tonight, carroll, kane, bostock, fredricks etc etc

Do you mean to say that they only used FIVE players - they must be really good - Let's see which Championship teams they are playing for in five years time.

Please post to banters Eds, dont know why all my recent attempted posts havent been posted, said nothing untowards i think!

What do ye think of the whole John Terry saga, trial date is set, but surely how can he continue as England captain?

Rebel_Red

He can continue as Captain of England because like it or lump it he is a totally innocent man until a jury says otherwise.

Also I doubt whether any Ed will give you much of an opinion of the incident or the proceedings because the trial process has now started so it's 'sub judice' and to express to much of an opinion of the people involved, the case itself or opinions as to testimony in a public forum puts you skating on very thin ice legally. Try writing on the Chelski site and you might get on.

Good to see that there is far less diving and theatrics in the next gen game in comparison to the PL.

01 Feb 2012 20:05:22
Glad to see the team playing with the same tenacity that we have embodied all season, but converting our chances also, it was all we were missing.
Luis Suarez is going to be like a new signing when he returns, with his determination to prove himself against our opponents, hopefully starting with an appearance after about 70 minutes and scoring a winner to continue our push for fourth.
At the start of the season i said I would be happy with the Carling Cup and 5th, I know that my expectations were not incredible but they were an improvement, with silverware, more than Arsenal can realistically hope for this season.
It would now appear that we have the ability to push for fourth. Chelsea are stuttering and Arsenal are missing Gervinho for perhaps a week or two yet and Van Persie could end up with a ban for his part in the win over Villa in the cup.

Watching nextgen, halftime score 0-0. Raheem Sterling is playing very very gooooood!! Really looks like one for the future...hope we win tonight!

The Smartest Man On This Page

01 Feb 2012 19:51:12
Sterling is a fantastic player, looks to me tonight that he could well perform for the first team. Suso also is playing very well. If they bulk up a touch then they are very close, we have some assets in the rezzies.

01 Feb 2012 19:47:42
Still 0-0 at HT in the Next Gen series. I'll tell you what lads.. If Raheem Sterling was physically stronger, he'd be terrorizing defences in the Premier League - Give him a couple of years.. What a great prospect.

As well as Coady, Wisdom, NGoo (Although he should've buried two chances first half), Morgan etc. The future's bright, the future's red.

Curtiss

01 Feb 2012 19:41:59
Sterling is terrorising the spurs team I wish he was the same weight as oxlade-chamberlain I think he would get his chance in the first team,I believe he's technically as good if not better.

MICHAEL NGOO is an awful player! Is there something up with adam morgan?

ACHILLES. {Ed009's Note - He missed one chance, that does not make him awful. I would say he is far from it - laden with pace, power and direct running. When partnered with Adam Morgan's poacher instincts they can be devastating.}

Thats a poor statement ACHILLES mate he should have scored but he's causing them so many problems it's unreal give him a chance he's a very good player.

Square tomato

First time i watch nextgen tonight and was hoping to see adam morgan playing...cause i hear so much about him...sigh, is he on the bench?

Ngoo can look really good almost unplayable at times but he can look awkward at times because of his build but hes deffinatley not awful.
soul man

Come on guys..not the kids. they are still learning

Two chances gets ur facts right.

OK maybe i was wrong to right off ngoo so soon but all in all i think the futures bright! STERLING with his pace terrorises defenders SUSO with his passing ability(Ever went on about beckhams passing ability when he was in his prime this lads goin be in a league of his own)CONOR COADY seems like he has all the time in the world on the ball very composed player.

I for one would like to see these players in the first team next season .

ACHILLES.

They're only kids you fool. If they were in the first team next year against the likes of Terry and Rooney, they would be ruined, and we'd finish nowhere. Do you know anything about football? let them develop, hopefully two or three will make it, that' as good as it ever gets.

Question for the collective. Now that we've seemingly got most everyone back in the squad and available (something I don't think has happened for quite a long time) what should the lineup be for match day? Seems like a difficult choice, which I suppose is a welcome change.

For me, I think maybe I'd like to see something like this:

Reina
Kelly Skrtel Agger Enrique
Spearing Adam
Gerrard Suarez Bellamy
Carroll

Am interested in what others think? With Henderson, Downing, Kuyt available as well, bit difficult to shoe horn everyone in, but I think the above has a nice balance and personally I think Suarez is a better fit behind the striker as opposed to being one himself (although with the above I suspect there would be a lot of movement in and out amongst Gerrard, Suarez, and Bellamy). {Ed009's Note - I would largely agree, though perhaps I would drop Gerrard into the role of Adam, putting Henderson/Downing on the right, depending on the opposition. Certainly Kelly deserves to start over Johnson.}

I could live with that as well, Ed009. Just would like to see Gerrard in more of an attacking role as opposed to holding. Downing doesn't seem overly comfortable on the right and Henderson, while I think hugely talented, seems a bit lost when out wide as well. Honestly just the mere fact of having to make decisions like this shows me how much better off the squad is than we were in years past. It may not be perfect, but it's a sight better than what we had for sure.

Hey do u know what happened to jack robinson, Is he back from injury, Very talented youngster.

I know it wouldn't be to everyone's taste, but I wouldn't mind seeing suarez on the wing. He can certainly take defenders on and he's got pace. Some might think it would be a waste for him to be on the wing but I think Stevie would be more of a waste out there..

Myk

01 Feb 2012 19:31:13
Ok there seems to be a bit of stick being thrown at Kenny regarding the youngsters not getting into the first team. Would you stop and consider that Kenny Dalglish has overseen the development of these players for the last few years in his role with the academy, or have you forgotten? Now, who knows these players better than him? not many , perhaps no one I would argue. Does he rate them? Of course, otherwise they wouldnt be there. Does he pay attention to them? Yes , he attends their games, training etc. He has brought some of them along on away trips with the first team for the experience.
The way some people are talking its as if their is a divide created by Kenny but they are all HIS players , whom he has helped nurture. Let him be the judge as to when they are ready for the first team because , in my opinion he has earned the right to make that call. In Kenny I trust.

Dara D

Agreed wholeheartedly Dara. I'm pretty sure that some of the youngsters have to at least train occasionally with the first team and if they'd shown the ability to be in the squad I'm certain the coaching staff would have no problems putting them in there. To think otherwise would seem to me to be saying that the coaching staff is incompetent, no?

Can someone keep me posted of scores of the nextgen game? I cant watch as I am at work

Still 0-0 but Michael Ngoo has missed a sitter when he messed around too much when anout teo yards out and just missed a one-on-one.

That;s half time mate, 0-0.
Liverpool starting to get on top. Silva and Sterling on the wings are looking very lively and dangerous. Good stuff, quite open as well.

Half time NIL-NIL

LFC dominant, Ngoo a real handful along with Sterling. Spurs will have been relieved to hear the half-time whistle.

Sure you're not watching ngog?
they sound like similar players

It's 0-0 mate! How we are still 0-0 is beyond me! Big Ngoo has been wasteful up front.

Just after some thoughts on the carling cup final tickets.
I'm a member of a Liverpool supporters club and have been to most home league matches this season but as the carling cup games are mid-week and the fact I live 5 hours away from Liverpool, I've not been able to make the cup games, which means I don't qualify to get a final ticket.

I feel this very unfair and the club should give tickets out based on loyalty which include both league and cup.

It's a tricky situation as there are thousands of people who would love to be a season ticket holder and can not so as a result would find it hard to get any sort of loyalty to entitle them to a final ticket but I also think its unfair that a person who may have been to 1 carling cup game and maybe have spent £50 would get a ticket over some one like my self who has paid £300+ on tickets.

(1)

(0)
Completely agree. I'm a member and been to every home league game this season (and got tickets to every up-coming home league game).
Yet because I've only been to one Carling Cup game (the semi-final at Anfield) I don't qualify for the first phase sale. I qualify for phase 2, which is a lottery. Bit gutted really, but suppose there are countless others in the same position.

Joe

Guys, whilst I appreciate your frustrations, surely if supporters have been to more than 1 Carling Cup game this year, surely that is showing Loyalty to the reds in the Carling Cup, just because you have a season ticket or block booked tickets for Premier League games that doesnt give you the rigjht to have Monopoly over tickets, there are many fans who would literally give their right arm for a season ticket or the chance to go to games but dont get the opportunity, good luck in getting your tickets but there are no god given devine rights to watch the reds, regardless of wealth, health or status, imagine all the kids who have been to the Carling Cup games, should they not be entitled to be eligible for a ticket just because you have been to all league games this year? Lets get a bit of perspective around this! I appreciate you pay a premium for the league games, the club and fans like me appreciate this, but the attitude that this then should give you dibs on higher profile game tickets is outdated and very much why we have had issues with distribution of tickets in the past. Guys i would be intersted to hear what the likes of Blair Mayne and other guys think and feel around this emotive subject. Eds?
Scouserjohnny

Having a season ticket cuts no ice with LFC today, i have had a ticket for 20 years and for the last 6-7 years it gets you absolutely no loyalty from the club, we show our loyalty by paying out 750 odd quid up front and get no loyalty or prefernece offered when it comes to cup finals etc. I appreciate we have the opportunity to tick the cup ticket scheme when renewing our season tickets but that could mean an additional £200 layout if we get home ties and do well. Just think the whole policy needs a thinkover.

I'm not saying that just because you are a season ticket holder you should get a Devine right to a final ticket , but I think that a better way to decide who gets tickets or not would be that if you went to let's say 50% of the carling cup games you should get a ticket and if you have been to 50% league games you should all go in a random draw , if your name comes up you get a ticket. I'm not a season ticket holder myself but I think it's very unfair when people folk out £700+ on a season ticket and may not be ably to afford to go to cup games they can't get a final ticket

Completely understand fans frustrations around ticket allocation policies, what the best solution is Im not sure, im sure there are people who are paid handsomely to work that out. Due to opinions though how the club can ever win on this subject ill never know. When demand outweighs availability your always going to be on to a loser, some will always miss out, Carling Cup final as perfect example, how do the powers that be decide that 31,000 tickets is enough for Liverpool fans when the Anfield itself holds 46,000, corporate my arsh!so 30,000 tickets go to other clubs, corporate members, press etc etc (The FA bloody family) Whoever dictates volumes of tickets allocated to clubs for finals needs a serious dunking in the mersey, with concrete shoes on!

AH WELL! I suppose the Summer rumours will start tomorrow. What is our budget? Who is going to be the Marquee signing (I don't actually know what that means)? By the way, I am in Liverpool when the club play WBA. Can anyone explain to me how I can obtain (if possible) a match ticket?

Dutchmal.

Meet me outside the The Arkles boozer with about £500 and a big bag of Amsterdam's finest and I'll help you obtain one. £750 for two. ;)

Just my luck. I only get ONE answer (thanks fellow-fans) and it's one who has already had too much of Amsterdam's finest! Can't (or won't) anyone give me (a fan of over FIFTY) years a reasonable answer?

@ the Liverpool Eds - have you had any apologies following the closing of the window from those who were infuriated at you for insinuating that the likes of Hazard, Cavani & RVP would not be moving to Anfield? LOL

I wish I could say it wont happen again in the summer......but.....

Does anybody know if any action is going to be taken against ballotelli and van Persie following there recent misconduct on the pitch. {Ed002's Note - Mario Balotelli was given a four-match ban. However the referee confirmed he saw the incident involving van Persie and therefore he faces no further action.}

Hi guys,

Me and my dad want to attend a home game during April our choices are West brom or Fulham, it will be 2 adult tickets.

How much do you think we will have to pay for each
ticket outside the stadium (blackmarket).

Appreciate any responses.

Thanks.

Tom.

About £4000 each mate...

01 Feb 2012 20:22:15
In the past, I've used this web site
www.footballclubtickets.bz/TeamEvents.aspx?tn=Liverpool&scid=4

For example they are offering tickets for
the Liverpool vs Fulham game for £95. I do not know how much they would cost outside the stadium, I've never tried this route. This web site was very reliable and have always delivered the tickets even to the hotel I was staying at in Liverpool. My wife bought me tickets of Liverpool vs Man Utd for my 40th birthday for example, no problems. I should marry her again just for that present.

Kenny, Wenger, Fergie, Redknapp and Boas sitting in a pub. Wenger goes up and buys the first round of drinks. Boas the second, Redknap the third, Fergie the fourth. Kenny buys the next but Fergie complains "Where's mine?!" Kenny replies "Sorry pal, this is the fifth round and you're not in it".

MM

Fergy & Dalglish go on to have a drink-off and Dalglish gets ass-whipped! At the last count he was 16 pints (sorry points) behind.........

really happy with the win against wolves but now we have 4 really important games (tottenham, united, cardiff, arsenal)
coming up. i think the biggest challenge dalglish is facing right now for these games is to get the midfield combination right.
It is pretty clear that adam and gerrard cant play together since neither of them is good defensively. for me spearing if fit has to play since he will hassle the opposition and give them less time on the ball. Kuyt has to play against tottenham since he will back track and work hard which is what we need agaisnt an in form bale. since bellamy and carrol have been playing well these past few games they should continue against tottenham. suarez should come of the bench for bellamy in second half. kelly should play start instead of johnson against tottenham and united since he is the better defender. we can even play bellamy on the left and suarez with carrol but i feel bellamy has a better understanding with carrol. If we are to play downing he has to play on the left and not on the right. adam should probably play the creative mid position but oh dear this leaves out gerrard.
If dalglish can sort out the midfield conundrum i can see us playing well not just for these 4 games but for the remaining season.

Just wonderin eds we're the everton supporters that threw the stuff from behind the goal when both carroll and suarez scored ever punished. I didn't see anything in the media about that.seems that its just lfc supporters that are been made an example of.
Ben irish {Ed002's Note - I really don't know, but there is no conspiracy resulting in only Liverpool fans being made an example of.}

Whats worse. a fan being racist or a fan throwing stuff object at players, potentionaly harmful things. i know its possible to have both at the same time.i just think everyone just likes to hop on the racism bandwagon. i guess your argument could be, "well no one was physically hurt." i wouldnt be assed if i was in africa playing professional football being called the milky bar kid but i would be assed if they were throwing sh@% at me. {Ed009's Note - Naturally both incidents are terrible, but where throwing objects is generally considered to be an act against a rival club as opposed to the player themselves, racism is a targeted action motivated by nothing else than hate.}

01 Feb 2012 17:49:49
there are more then 6 player is in the line in Liverpool reserve but no one given chance to Senior team. I am sure Joao Carlos Teixeira will not find it too. Kenny and his policy is difficult. David Amo, Suso , Cody is better then any senior player in Liverpool. Suso much better then Downing but Kenny not even give him 10 minute football.

-what-

That's the most professional statement I have ever heard! All hail your wisdom, messiah! I am sure King Kenny is reading it right now, feeling ashamed right now!
Can't wait for monday, seeing our youth players featuring against Spurs, I am sure they will be proud of the new policy as Galas or some other thug ravages them and their spirit gets broken.

Drigan

Suso is a completly different type of player to Downing !

Lazy lad

You know nothing about football mate. Even the current Barca team couldn't have played at that age against seasoned pro's without getting their ass's kicked. Cody better than any Liverpool player?!! He'd be breathing through his a**hole after 40 mins of premier lg intensity. you are an utter fool.

Not really an important point but it just amused me so i thought i would share it.

I'm a fairly new-ish reader, don't post that often but I get immense amount of pleasure from this site (favourite post of the day "well what are we supposed to do now?" - brilliant).

One thing i keep doing is after reading a long winded whinge about this that and the other "Arrgghh, Kenny has ruined my life, i hate football, this players the worst human ever" that is usually followed by a sensible, funny and erudite comment from one of the eds I click 'agree'.

I then take a bit of a look at what I've done and realise I have just agreed with the original poster, rather than the eds response.

Not asking for anything ridiculous like "agree", "disagree" and "agree with eds" (sycophant that i am). ho hum.

Great result yesterday - 3-0 away, goals for our strikers, playing like a team and no midterm mercenaries signed on a whim. Splendid stuff.

Cheers

Joff

My 'agree' was on purpose .

Yeah, that's quite a bummer. I feel bad for clicking "disagree" on stupid posts where Ed02 has posted an appropriately sarcastic comment.

Just type...Ithink you're an person etc etc, i agree with the Ed etc etc, problem solved.

Hi ed02, didn't fancy it last night lol? Just a quick note to thank u all for your continuous work on this site, I hope all the bellends u got arsey when they were told cavani, hazard etc... Were not gonna sign is actually because they haven't, not because the eds were being negative and shooting everyone down. P.s ed19 managed to fill in adequately with his wit last night, I still noticed u wern't around. I was the first to doubt Carroll b he looked the cars pyjamas last night, sign of the tide changing me-thinks, 4th is defo on the cards.

U guys just don't seem to be able to understand even though the eds & macca keep telling us that things change during negotiations concerning transfer targets. None of us know the full details of the negotiatians. Ok some eds & macca expected a signing or two. Just because that never materialised doesn't make it a crap rumour because we don't know the details of the discussions. Look we haven't seen the suarez/gerrard/bellamy partnership develop yet. I think henderson/adam/downing will play with more inspiration & encouragement when suarez/gerrard/bellamy are on the field. Kuyt will also be chipping in with a few goals. Maybe all carroll needs is the space that suarez will create along with the the ammunition gerrard will provide. The defense doesn't need any tweaking so why would we make any panic buys especially in January when prices are generally higher. We are only 4 points off of Chelsea(4th) & they play the Mancs next. So we could potentially be one point off of 4th place by Monday. We could be looking at some quality players coming this summer. Plus one or two of our youngsters may push through before summer or atleast by the star of next year. But everybody wants us to be like City & Chelsea & just buy cups. It's ridiculous!! FFP Hurry Up

I have been using this site regularly for the last five years(ish). Never posted anything before, so while its a bit quieter, i'd like to say thanks to all the dreamers and schemers for all their thumbs down/unbelievable transfer rumours, that we all wanted to believe, but couldn't.

And most of all, thanks to ALL the eds, dunno how you do it. All the bs u put up with everyday, you must go home stinkin.

I really do love this site, refreshing the page at least 10 times a day at work during the transfer window, but not so much while the window is closed (that would be sad). Will be keeping an eye out here and there, but i'm sure we'll be hearing from all u guys again come May/June.

Cheers ppl.

WHAT WE GONNA DO NOW!!

I'm really sorry Ash, but I've already got that ID. Just to save confusion.

One is enough ; )

Cheeky sod JRG ;-)

I might change my ID to "The Real Ash" like KB!

Ash (The Real Ash)

Okay, so the old ash is the real ash right? and the new ash is ash??? wtf is this!!

Sounds better than Fag Ash ;-)

Only joking Ash mate. Maybe one day I will be popular enough to get my own copycat and then I can join you and KB!

So what did you think of Carroll's performance last night? Good to see he is able to perform in this team without the team changing their style of play?

JRG

Lol.
Ash, if Andy Carroll carries out like last night you'll have to be "The Unreal Ash" mate.
The Real KB

Christ Ash,he's only posted once and you want to call yourself the Real Ash. What about, cheesy hot rod Ash ha ha. J.C

I have to admit that Andy is playing much better at the moment, playing with a bit more passion which is good to see. However, he still has a mighty long way to go and if, in 20 years, we look back on Andy Carroll and say "oh yeah, he wasn't too bad in the end wasn't he" he will still not have hit the level required. Rush, Aldo, Fowler, Torres....they are big shoes to fill and I'll still keep to my original prediction that he won't be good enough for us in the end. Here's to hoping though!

Ash

01 Feb 2012 15:00:10
{Ed009's Note - ... As I see it, he will likely be 'proven' not guilty (due to lack of conclusive evidence of racial hatred) and the FA will take that as meaning he is innocent, and do the same.}

Ed002, if this scenario comes true would you describe that as
justice, in consideration of what has happened to Suarez?

RedAce. {Ed002's Note - The charge in a courtroom against Terry is not something that can be compared to the situation with Suarez where the charges were brought by The FA. I cannot comment on what Ed009 has said.}

What's to say that JT will even get picked for England for the Euros, with this hanging over him. I would certainly expect that he could not retain the captaincy at any rate.
The Real KB

The fact that Terry's trial is after the Euros indicates to me that he is being protected until after the Euros. Simple. No reason why thye cannot do it now. Thye have all the eveidence they need...do the defence need six months to prepare....I think not.
Iggypop {Ed002's Note - It was always expected to be later in the year and it was always going to preferable to do it in the close season. This should not be a shock to anyone.}

I think Rio would also say to Capello, it's either him or me, not to mention a few other players who are disgusted with his actions. I have to say I'm disappointed but not surprised by the media not mentioning Terry as a racist or CFC as a racist club as Liverpool has been portrayed. God knows if Rooney had been caught on video, during a minutes silence, calling someone a massive racial slur. I think he'd get knighted...

01 Feb 2012 14:59:30
Hi ed, first post but was following all through January! Some of the signings people where talking about are going to be arriving in the summer! Edison cavani will be wearing our number 10 next season only if we get into the champions league, xabi alonso will also arrive in the summer! Jermain Defoe was an option in January but kenny didn't want too sign him or anyone else as he thought it would put andy carroll down even more Than he is! Now he will not be signing at any point. Christoper samba and junior hoillet are both on the cards as kenny wants to replace carra with an experncied prem player and hoilett is a great prospect so expect them two! Whatch this space I am in the know! TRUST!! "BoxsterRed"

The only problem I can see if this is true is we're going to have to find some extraterrestrial teams to play cos no team on this planet will be able to keep pace with us, we'll win everything!

This is a dream you had, how do you know what Kenny is thinking. You are just adding up all the rumours and titbits, then just coming to a conclusion, fine, but don't try and pass it off as "information". Makes you sound like a tw*t. Not many people have "information", and especially not you. I will "watch this space", and when none of it materialises, be prepared to admit that you made it all up because you have no life "boxsterred"

01 Feb 2012 14:59:14
Any ideas on formation for Spurs? I'm guessing Kuyt will start on right because of Bale. I think we need three in the middle against Modric and Parker, which means maybe Bellamy on left and Suarez alone upfront? Gerrard, Hendo and Spearing midfield 3?

Chubs

We can't go back to Suarez up front on his own - he cannot play that role. It didn't work before his ban and can't see it working now.

JRG

Liverpool will lost again spurs!

What would be your line up JRG?

Chubs

Will "lost" again against spurs? wow..

Don't know to be honest Chubs mate. I would probably start Suarez from the bench as he might not be match sharp. If Bellamy is fit I'd go with him and Carroll as they have developed a good understanding.

4-4-2 which gives a bit of protection down the wings which is where Spurs are dangerous. Perhaps Gerrard right midfield so he can offer some protection to the midfield when Spurs have the ball. Definitely Spearing in the middle with probably Adam as we need some creativity.

I think this will be our toughest home game of the season. Spurs are probably playing the best attacking, fast football in the league.

JRG

"Kuyt will start on right because of Bale"

Are you sure... Bale has pace to burn and will skin Kuyt!!! I think Glen Johnson will have to be positionally on his game... Plus, Bale now comes inside which stops teams man marking him out of the game.

I'd probably put Kuyt on bench and not match him up with Bale...

Will be a great contest hopefully!!

Reina

Johnson - Skirtel - Aggar - Enrique

Spearing Adam

Downing Gerrard Bellamy

- Carroll -
Subs: Suarez,

Su

I'd go with
Reina
Kelly - Skrtel - Agger - Enrique
Johnson - Spearing - Gerrard - Downing
Suarez
Carroll

I'd have Downing playing as him and Enrique defend well together and attack well. Johnson and Kelly covering the other side which should stop them spreading us too much. Spearing will hold the midfield and Gerrard/Hendo will sit in front and provide the creativity. Carroll will knock the ball down/on for Suarez who can take it past a few and pass or shoot. I think we set up shop we run the risk of allowing them to batter us at home, but Johnson and Downing can both assist when attacking. High pressure is a must as if they get their passing game going, we'll be chasing the game. Bellamy to come on around 60-70 mins for Suarez/Carroll and Kuyt for Downing. I think by then we should have scored at least and we can keep possession. However I still trust Kenny's decision over mine and whatever team he picks will be the best.

Afternoon all. I am lucky enough to have tickets for the tottenham game on Monday and wonder if anyone thinks Suarez will start from the bench! Based on the current team performance do you think KK will slot him straight into the starting 11 assuming he has been training with the full team throughout his ban!

What does everyone think, would be interesting to hear some mixed point of views.

Danski

It all comes down to what he's like in training. I should think that he'll start alongside AC

I can see Bellamy dropping to the bench to save his knees, and this being the likely team (From my guess)
------------Reina-----------
Johnson-Skrtel-Agger-Enrique
---Gerrard-Spearing-Adam---
Henderson------------Suarez
------------Carroll----------

Which I think is a very good team, could be wishfull thinking hoping Kenny will play that team, the FM manager in me!

My only worry about Enrique, is that's he's looking so goo that's Real or Barca could come in with mega bucks and sign him. I can't believe he will not get called up to the spain squad for Euro2012

How the hell do you know he wont?

Enrique will move to barcelona this summer.

sad but true.

I thought barcelona wanted Jordi Alba?

Rafa's Purple Goatie

Rafa's PG is right. They want Jordi Alba and Real are pleased with Marcelo and Fabio Coentrao. No other club would be able to prise him away

01 Feb 2012 13:29:08
Where do people think Suarez will fit into the team when he returns?

It is clear that Carroll has played much better with Bellamy playing off him up-front; he finally has someone more advanced than him to receive the flicks and knock-downs he keeps winning. As good a player as Suarez is he does not play on the shoulder of the last defender anticipating flicks. Suarez tries to find space where he can create chances for himself or team-mates.

I thought Carroll was really good last night. Holding the ball up, laying it off first time, bringing people into the game, it was a good target mans performance (Drogba-esque?) and shows what he is capable of doing in this team. It also shows that he is capable of playing in a pass-and-move team despite what people have said in the past. He is certainly not the finished article yet but if he continues playing like that for the rest of the season I will be more than happy.

We could play 4-3-3 with Carroll, Kuyt/Bellamy and Suarez in a 'free' role to go where he wants but my concern would be no wingers to put crosses into the box for Carroll which takes away one of our threats. Or 3-5-2 similar to how Roy Evans used to play but with Suarez playing the McManaman role?

It is good that KK has these selection issues - from reading some of the posts last night you would have thought we were fighting relegation. We made five changes from the team that beat United and still managed to beat another Premier League team away. That's six away wins this season compared to five for all of last season.

There was a great post last night saying that we have proved we are a good team by beating Chelsea (twice), City, United and Arsenal this season. We don't need big money signings to beat the likes of Blackburn, Wigan or Bolton - we just need the players we have to play more consistently.

JRG

Suarez, he can't play to our style! Kenny should drop him and play a real striker like Andy Carroll.

i think KK and DC were thinking of buying a winger and a striker, they might have failed in buying a striker but as far as winger goes they might have gave up the idea by sticking wid dirk kuyt and it was a right decision for sure. we must give kuyt a lot of playing chances, hes scored in 2 consecutive game, i still think kuyt has much more to offer for the club if hes given the opportunity.

Actually the ban that Suarez received could turn out to be a positive thing for the club in the end.

To some extent, it may have had an effect on s6e players' mindsents, that they hafta step up their game with him out.

I think not having suarez available has definitely made big andy step up. And that can only be gd for us.

And then we all know that luiz hasn't had much of a break the past 2 yrs cos of the worldcup and then the copa. The ban is like an enforced break for him to rest and recuperate.

Chances are, if u thought he was a terror before, he could well be an absolute monster of a player now that he has had a gd break.

We'r still within touching distance of 4th, are in the carling final, have dumped the despicable devils out of the fa cup ... And now we're about to unleash a fresh suarez (and a fit again stevie, an andy cmg into form and craig bellamy).

Looks like maybe evra may have done us more good than harm.

Maybe we should thank him.

What is the deal with Dirk Kuyt's goal record .

He has noiw scored 50 Premier League goals - courtesy of Wolves last night , I get that .

He scored against MANUFC - 1 of 19 cup goals he has for LFC : 4 domestically & 15 in Europe .

But why on saturday were people talking about his 50th goal being out the way ?

That was his 50th prem goal he scored against wolves

Think it was just itv talking crap. That was his 50th last night and it was nice to see his daft grin again. He was great last night along with a few others and looks like he's got his mojo back

Sure , I get that ... But I thought after the MUFC game they were stating some sort of 50 goal record for Dirk Kuyt ?

Maybe I was mistaken , but I think I heard it during the interviews on Saturday .

They got confused because United were PL opponents. But that was his 50th PL goal on Saturday

It was King Kenny who said it by mistake, and he made the same one last night saying Dirk had scored his 51st goal for the club. But which journalist has got the balls to correct The King? :)

Ah ! I see , just confusion because of Premier League opposition in the F.A Cup . Right I get it now .

Unbelievable, just read that John Terry wont be going to trial until after the Euro Finals in July. I know it's different circumstances than Luis, but funny that the only date they have is July...in close season...........Bullsh!te. On set of rules for one, one set for another.

Sooty {Ed002's Note - It was always going to be the case that it would not be heard until much later in the year. You need to get over this paranoia.}

So does that mean ed the FA won't charge him until after the court case? {Ed002's Note - Yes. That was always going to be the case.}

Eds, is it really paranoia? It looks like the FA is dooing everything it can to keep players like Rooney and Terry in the 2012 Euros just because they play for England. Suarez got no favours from the FA and has been branded a racist. I tend to agree with the poster here. I know I for one will not be supporting England or watching Euro 2012 and I am English.

RedAce. {Ed002's Note - It has nothing whatsoever to do with the FA.}

Actually Ed you're wrong. The judge wanted the case heard in March but was forced to postpone it after Terry's lawyers argued that the Chelsea players wouldn't be able to appear as witnesses during the season. Stop trying to fob us off with the paranoia thing. We know we've been stitched up. It's about time you started seeing that. And yes I have read that FA report and related articles so I know what I'm talking about.

Red Heart {Ed002's Note - Firstly, I am not wrong, I said from the start that it would always be that the case would be heard until later in the year. And that is what is happening, so I am correct. This is nothing to do with the FA at all - but the paranoia is telling you it is some conspiracy against Liverpool for some reason. And you say you have read "the FA report" - there is no FA report, so clearly you know nothing of the matter at all and don't know what you are talking about.}

The nine days from Euros to trial 'John Terry announces international retirement........'.

If he is found not guilty could the FA, who do not follow the laws 'beyond reasonable doubt' reasoning, still charge him? Surely that must be the case as Suarez would not have been found guilty in a court of law but was by the FA.

Wavertree Red {Ed002's Note - Yes, once it has been dealt with in Court he will likely be charged by the FA.}

Ed it is not paranoia at all. The FA have played this out very intelligently.

There are no coincidences in life only purpose, remember that. It is no conincidence that Terrys case is being heard shortly after the euros finish.

The FA know that criminal proceedings take months and they knew that it all probability Terrys case wouldnt be heard until after the Euros so they hung back and refrained from taking any action.

This will mean England can go into the Euros with one of their better centre backs and without the shame of having their captain branded a racist which would have been a PR catastrophe.

Terrys 'advisers', legal team and the FA are most definately in constant communication and will be collaborating together to ensure the best outcome possible for the FA and England.

To think that the FA have no input Ed is extremely naive. This is the England captain who has been caught on camera spouting racial derogatory remarks on the eve of a major european tournament...of course the FA will be advising Terry and his camp on how to deal with the court process.

Leo {Ed002's Note - The FA did not charge Terry because there was a complaint made to the police by a member of the public and they will wait until that case is dealt with before bringing charges. It is nonsense to suggest that there is collusion between Terry's barrister or lawyer and the FA. No doubt Terry would have said that his preference would be for the matter to have been dealt with in the close season, in the same way as Gerrard's issue was dealt with in teh close season. Both cases were expected to be dealt with as such, and that is what happened.}

Ed Terry is the England football captain of course there will have been some dialogue between the FA and Terrys legal team, its common sense.

I think you are underestimating the gravity and the complexity of the situation. Whatever course of action Terry and his advisers choose to take will have a direct implication on the FA so to say there would be no communication between the FA and Terrys advisers is bonkers especially as the evidence against him is so clear.

You need to think from a PR perspective Ed. Im not saying they will be getting involved in terms of legal advice etc but certainly from a PR point of view.

You need to remember this is the England football captain and the outcome of this case has huge implications. Look we can go on all day about this, there is no right of wrong, you have your opinion and I have mine.

What i dont get is that Terry has been caught clearly saying "you b**** c***" and I just cannot understand what defence he can possibly have for that, its outrageous.

Can somebody tell me what defence can he possibly have?

And also how has he managed to garner the support of the black chelsea players when it is so clear what he said i dont understand...am i missing something?

Leo
{Ed002's Note - You are just making this stuff up about his lawyers or barrister talking with The FA I am afraid. As for the defence, he will be denying the charge against him - not denying saying any particular words.}

What do you mean "making stuff up"? Nobody said I was talking about facts...I am not a lawyer nor do I work for the FA I am merely a member of the public offering my opinion. Its not a case of making stuff up, what r u on about?

And who said anything about terrys lawyer or barrister talking to the FA? I said legal team and advisers, theres a very big difference.

I dont know what your background is so I cant comment on why u come out with such dubious statements but it is clear to me that maybe you should go and have a browse on the conspiracy pages or get some books on how these big corporations and governing bodies work mate. To say the FA have absolutely no involvement, no influence and have absolutely no communication with Terrys advisers and legal team over this matter is ridiculus and I cannot believe for one minute that you really believe that.

The only reason you are choosing to live in denial is because you are a chelsea fan and Terry can do no wrong in your eyes!

Answer me this, why didnt the FA charge Terry straight away? It was a full week or 2 or even longer before Terry was charged by the police so why didnt the FA act quickly like they did with Suarez?

Look how quickly they acted with the Ballotelli incident the other day...the FA are totally bias towards Terry, it is undeniable.

Leo
{Ed002's Note - You have changed tact now saying you are just giving your opinion - which is not how the following palpable nonsense reads: "The FA know that criminal proceedings take months and they knew that it all probability Terrys case wouldnt be heard until after the Euros so they hung back and refrained from taking any action."

Then you go on to state "Terrys 'advisers', legal team and the FA are most definately in constant communication and will be collaborating together to ensure the best outcome possible for the FA and England." Hardly written as an opinion is it?

Terry's legal team is his lawyer and barrister - who do you think it is and what is this "big difference" you see between the two. And who are these "advisors" you mention. As for my background, my Masters degree included Law, and to suggest I look at the "conspiracy pages" pretty much sums up your paranoid viewpoint. As to your question, the complaint was made to the police immediately after the game and was sent to the CPS for opinion before he was charged. The FA quite rightly waited until the process was completed.}

Im totally with Leo on this one, what i dont get ed is how on earth can JT deny the charge when its blatantly obvious hes guilty, or is he taking us all for fools by saying its not what he said, its how he said it, ie freindly manner, in which case hes the fool, but weve always known that havent we....

RED4lifeNOTjust4XMAS {Ed002's Note - I am surprised that anyone agrees with Leo's delusional ramblings about his legal team not being his lawyer and barrister and these imaginary "advisors", and this communication with the FA to collude over I know not what. However, I don't know what the defence will be but certainly Terry will not deny saying the words of course. What they may well argue is that the statement was not "racially aggravated".}

The real point being missed is that the FA will not even deal with this case 'ever' if terry wins his court case. if terry gets a not guilty in a british court of law they will then be able to bypass the whole event by stipulating their evidence is no different to the crown prosecution and therefore there is no case. the FA will not want to make a mockery of the british justice system by taking him to their own 'court system' that has a supposed '99%' success rate in their favour and find him guilty.
it's a funny old game aye? not really.

conspiracy theories against lfc might be a bit far fetched but it will stink in the end regardless.

s.p

All this rubbish you are saying Leo belongs on the Chavs page or on the Conspiracy page. Why are you filling up our Liverpool page with all this carp ?

Ben

To the tune of coldplay para para paranoia

Ed is right why would the fa get involved with terrys people when they are goin to charge him?

Leo

Do you mean the PFA rather than the FA because the PFA are there to help players. The FA are there to help themselves and no way would interfere like you say.

Please post Ed.

Parminder

It's a bit like ffloyd mayweather jnr! He's been found guilty waiting to go to the slammer but because of sporting commitments won't go till after his next fight! Only difference is Terry hasn't stood trial yet! So stop with the paranoia! He's getting no special treatment that no other sporting star would get!

Great performance and result last night, the true test to come for KK.
He hasn't got his shape right against the Tax Dodger, sorry alleged, yet.
Do we attack and leave gaps or defend and hit them on the break... Not sure, any ideas because I know we can beat any of the others but spurs are different.

Pistol Pete

In my opinion we play a packed midfield. Have our wingers constantly track back to sort out Bale and Lennon. Do a man-marking job with Spearing on Modric and double up on Parker when we go forward. Trust in AC to hold the ball up when he get possession. Something like this:

Reina
Kelly-Skrtel-Agger-Enrique
Kuyt-Gerrard-Spearing-Henderson-Bellamy
Carroll

Wheres luis?? hell be raring 2 be let off the leash..

I was pretty gutted we didn't get a striker in the window which is what i thought we needed.

But, i'm also glad we didn't rush in and just sign someone as a stop gap. coughDefoecough..

hi guys great website. the team was brilliant yesterday. I'm happy that we got no one from the transfer window. the team is starting to gel and hopefully we get top 4 and trophies this season. surely if we play like that against spurs next monday (with gerrard and suarez back), hopefully we will thrash them. also carroll played well. what do u guys think?. thanks and ynwa

01 Feb 2012 11:50:39
Go on BIG ANDY!! Nice to see you smiling son! And congrats to Dirk on getting to 50 goals for LFC! Well done!

And as for all the people moaning and complaing that we didn't get anyone on the transfer window......KENNY SAID WE WOULDN'T! Hopefully next time you will LISTEN to what is said not just make your assumptions!

We got a tough game against Spurs so I urge all REAL fellow Reds to get behind our boys!

Ps, stop picking on ed 002 (refering to certain idiots from here) I bet if they knew what she looked like (and they thought she was gorgeous) they would change their tune! Idiots!

Anyways, let's hope Bolton do the business tonight.

John Terry pleads not guilty. His case will now not be heard til July 9th AFTER the Euros. What a joke...!

Red Heart

Because Frogy not involve on it. what a joke of English FA . {Ed002's Note - It has nothing whatsoever to do with the FA.}

Hi Red Heart,

I work in the Court system and such an adjournment for an offence of this nature is not uncommon. The Court will always try and priortise cases where an act of serious harm has been involved. The length of the adjournment, whilst appearing excessive actually reflects the fact that a number of Courts have closed in the past 12 months and those remaining have absorbed the work, hence lengthier adjournments.

Its not a conspiracy, just another example of the sluggish nature of british justice

Andy

It is up to the prosecution to prove Terry's guilt beyond any reasonable doubt. Any lawyer can argue that what Terry is alleged to have said has been taken out of context and was not said in a racially abusive manner. There is no way the prosecution can get a guilty verdict beyond any reasonable doubt.

Once he has been found not guilty by a Court of Law there is no way the FA will be able to charge Terry with any offence and find him guilty, even though there is more evidence against Terry than Suarez.

JRG

Can't we just let this thing go now? The club and Suarez accepted it in hope of moving on why cant we? and the JT thing has sweet fa to do with us! The ban has been served there is no way to get those games back... Lets move onwards and upwards. 4th is achievable along with a cup double, but the team need support not this constant looking back and crying over spilt milk!

01 Feb 2012 11:46:35
well that was a trip! KD did say there was nothing happening and he's been saying all season that he has faith in the players he's got. no better way of showing that, than not buying in jan.

So finally we announced that Joao Carlos Teixeira will join our Academy. of course, subjected to completion of formalities. One for the future!

Ed sorry if you'll have to repeat yourself here but I'll like to know whether we'll be seeing other young grads from our academy like morgan, wisdom and likes getting first team games under their belt?

watching Flanno and robinson last year really made me proud of our youth system.

Eds? {Ed001's Note - they will get games when they are judged to be ready.}

Team vs Spurs:
Bellamy Carroll Suarez
Adam Gerrard
Spearing
Enrique Agger Skertl Johnson
Reina

I know, I know, good team, right??
Or Henderson in for Adam, either would do a job! looking forward to a good game on monday!

hai Ed..you guys are doing the best in the world..

had a bad night yesterday..caught by police..drink and drive..went back and saw the game..great result..and great performance...
Andy caroll finally proving his value..the best thing was..he was controlling the ball well and his first touch has improved..As a player the only thing he needs to improve is controlling the ball and his touches..rest will come good..
special appreciation for our back 4..skirtel and agger..are so vital..the yhave been strong..
I think this was the best performance by adam and henderson....
coz..spearing protects the back four..it encouraged adam and henderson to move forward inturn resulting 5 liverpool players in thier halfs...
No signings..means ..we are happy with what we got....if carrol lgets going..we are really in good shape for CL...
Kuyt the lad deserve a medal..and may be league cup and Fa cup fro him..its been 5 years in liverpool..and he had offers to go inter..but stick with the club...and hatss off to that...
waiting for suarez and gerrard to be back...
common spurs...you had 4 against us..we wil lripp ur asses this monday...this is not white hart lane..
this is anfield...and here we decide the things...
You will never walk alone...

That's enough sharing of visions while lying in bed!

Joao Carlos Teixeira has joined the academy

To all those whinging and stamping their feet in a tantrum that we didn't sign anyone:

What if the club had targets to come in - strikers, for example, real quality who may have cost upwards of £20m and would have made a difference - but their clubs didn't want to sell, or they didn't want to move at this moment as they were still enjoying European football or were afraid a move may hamper their chances of a place at Euro 2012? There's nothing Liverpool could have done in this situation to force a player to move or a club to sell.

Would you rather the club then signed players who weren't good enough in the opinion of the manager, coaches and scouts, just because YOU want the club to sign someone?

We all want Liverpool to do well and to have great players propelling the side to glory but please try to be realistic; trust those in charge to do what's right. Yes, you may think Kenny overspent in the summer but it looks like the players bought are settling and beginning to do a job for the team: long may this continue and we see Carroll, Downing and Henderson getting better and better each week with rediscovered form and confidence.

Just because we haven't signed anyone, it doesn't mean it's the end of the world and we definitely won't finish in the top 4 - it's still very possible but there's a fair bit to go yet. Try to be positive in the wake of the last three results and improved performances and get behind the players we have, instead of srying over who you think we should have signed but didn't.

I'd love us to have signed Soldado, Cavani or Johnson in the window but we didn't. No-one did: ask yourself why - it's not because they didn't want to but because such transfers, despite l;ast year's activity, are rare in January for the reasons I gave above.

I'm looking forward (albeit with some trepidation but that's just the way I am) to the last 15 league games, a cup final and (hopefully) an extended run in the FA cup. Above all, I'm looking forward to the return of El Pistolero on Monday night to play in a team that looks to be on the up in terms of performance and confidence. Hopefully, we'll go on a run like we did from this time last year and enjoy the success that may bring.

Mr Benn

PS. Why does the window always 'slam' shut? It seems to me that last night was more of a gentle closure but 'Transfer Window Gently Closes' wouldn't appeal to the rags, I guess.

PPS. Thanks to the Eds for putting up with the nonsense in the window (including some of mine) with good humour and their fingers have a bit of a break before the rumours start anew.

Excellent post, Mr Benn, totally agree with you. Considering that the squad is finally looking a little more balanced and key players are approaching decent form (not to mention the return of Suarez, who will be on fire now), perhaps it was not the right time to confuse things by bringing in new faces just for the sake of it. One other thing, Mr Benn, that shopkeeper who appears, as if by magic, when you go in to try a costume - I'm sure it's Rafa isn't it?
-SH-

Agree with most points, except you cannot say we definitely won't finish top four. With last nights results and if we beat Spurs on Monday and other results go our way i.e. Chelsea and Arsenal dropping points, then we will be right in the mix for 4th place. Top 3 is pretty much done and dusted, its now between us, Chelsea and Arsenal....and we have yet to play both of them at Anfield. As long as we keep picking up points, there is a good chance we can finish 4th, especially as I think we will pick our form up between now and the end of the season, similar to what we did last season.

Well said.

Dara D

I wasn't saying we definitely won't finish top 4, just that it's not the end of the world that we haven't signed someone, and that doesn't mean we won't finish top 4.

-SH-: The shopkeeper does have a distinctly Spanish accent...

Mr Benn

He isn't saying we won't finish in the top four - read the post properly.

Great team performance last night, we we're thoroughly professional in picking them off. An especially important win, as we took advantage of Chelsea dropping points!

Great to see Big Andy get a goal, he put in a good performance and seemed to grow in confidence as the game went on. Kuyt got his 50th league goal, Enrique was back on form, Spearing back from injury. All positives!

Add to that we have Gerrard and Suarez to come back for Tottenham on Monday!

How do people think we'll shape up vs Tottenham? I think we'll go 4-2-3-1 with much the same line up as at Wolves, but with Suarez in for Henderson, Gerrard for Adam and Kelly for Johnson.

RedSG

RedSG. Agree with you comment and formation for spurs game but I would swap Gerrard for Henderson, leave johnson at right back as kuyt will run back and help him against Bale and I think Suarez will start on the bench as he's not played for 8 games

RedDan

I agree about Kelly in for Johnson and Gerrard in for Adam, but not sure about Suarez in for Hendo. In my opinion we should keep Carroll, Bellamy and Kuyt in the team seeing as they all scored on Saturday and bring Suarez on to torment them late on:

Reina
Kelly-Skrtel-Agger-Enrique
Kuyt-Gerrard-Spearing-Henderson-Bellamy
Carroll

Red Ollie

Glen johnson is a sure shot starter coz of his contract.

At the carling cup final, is there anything outside Wembley to do before the game takes place, like a fans fair or something of the sort, like they have at the FA Cup final, Champions League final, and NFL International Series games?

01 Feb 2012 09:46:49
I hope Andy Carroll doesn't get dropped on Monday, i think he is starting to show us more purely cos he's playing more and starting to get match sharp....something he hasn't been since he was unstoppable at Newcastle! If he had another player closer to him (Suarez) I think he'll be more effective cos he does look very isolated up front on his own! Better service to him from the wings and a player buzzing around him for any knockdowns and im sure we'll get the player we paid all that money for!
Reina
Johnson skertl agger Enrique
. Gerrard spearing
Bellamy Suarez downing
. carroll

Ryan.

PLay bellamy on the left and kuyt and the right to help johnson against bale

Spot on mate, but the only change i would make to your team is Kelly instead of Johnson

We've now got a fully rested and fully charged Luis Suarez available for selection.

We've now got a fit Stevie G available for selection.

And, Andy Carroll looks like hes about to become the monster centre forward for LFC he once was for NUFC.

As good as any 3 possible January signings we could have made.

Ed's & Macca, like all of the other posters I have been glued to this site for a month. Cheers for the updates and opinions, your time and effort and is Much appreciated

Which one of these is the best news?

1 - That Andy Carroll is on his way back to becoming the hairy scary beast of a centre forward we all really know he will be..

2 - That our Captain, the Great Number Eight, is casually rebuilding his fitness, strength and power in our midfield?

3 - That pass from Enrique eh?

4 - That cross from Adam eh?

5 - That Suarez has been away. And now, he's coming back into a winning, confident team?

6 - That we are in one Final and the 5th Round of the FA Cup?

7 - That we are in touching distance of 4th with 16 key games to go. And Chelsea and Arsenal look wobbly?

8 - That you know the squad both Love and Fear Kenny Dalglish? Would you want to let that man down? No. Didn't think so...

9 - That in Craig Bellamy, we have the best signing of the year. And oh. He hasn't got a fancy Latin name, he does not come from La Ligggggga - and he didn't cost €40M.

10 - That you know Kenny Dalglish does not give a flying squiddlee do about SAF, Chelskis plastic flags or Harry Redknapps dodgy accounting. He is a better man than them all put together. And he is ours. And loves the fans, the team and our Club.

I can'd decide which of the above gives me the most pleasure?

Why is everyone geting excited about beating wolves.we have spurs and the mancs coming up and they will be a different prospect alltogether.we'll be back to route 1 hoofing the ball down to carroll.we needed a winger and they didn't bother to get one.we have no width at all.how could u watch that team all year and the wall way they have been playing and think no we dont need anyone. Forget about fourth we ain't getin it. I dont want to see it but kenny could be gone come the summer.and all his own doing.

One of the flashes of Carroll last night,
was when is showed a great first touch
and span-off his marker and ran at goal,
ok he spannered his final shot wide,
but if he can get that into his confidence
and start attacking goal from 40 yards out
and fire off one of his cannon balls on target
he's going to be one hell of a player.
We'll played Andy Carroll
Liverpool number 9.

Watched the Wolves match again. Better give my analysis i s'pose.

Reina: Good as ever considering he didn't see alot of action.

Johnson: Honestly, poor, i expect much more from him. He really looks as though he's checked out, doesn't want to be there. defended horribly and seems to actually be afraid of the sideline when going forward.

Skrtel: Great, just great, seems to be getting better every week and is growing into some consistent form.

Agger: Very good as per usual... Few mind lapses as you do when you're bored... But love the way he can launch an attack

Enrique: One of his best in a red shirt, certainly his best defensive performance since arriving. Really doing well and shows no signs of stalling.

Kuyt: 'A' for effort as usual, still showing that he's lost that yard of pace, and it seems to be affecting his touch lately too, but all in all he was solid.

Spearing: Welcome the f**k back Jay, great performance. Passing was natually a little rusty as you'd expect after a slight absence and creativity is just not his or Lucas' game, but we've missed having one of either Jay or Lucas in the formation, We've needed that cover and the graft from players like this, and he's proved his worth in a BIG way.

Hendo: Top game, probably his best yet, showed some creativity and put great weight on his passes, i've said it since last season at Sunderland, but the vision on this kid is going to serve him VERY VERY well in the years to come, obviously going to be a good player.

Adam: Charlie had the most up and down game i think i've ever seen, few hollywood attempts, but he's slowly getting his head together which is great, Because when he settles down and plays as a normal midfielder, he's really good. His good passes were immaculate and his poor ones were a bit wasteful, but at the end of the day, and despite the few losses of possession, he had a really good game, and only getting better as he gets his mind on it.

Bellers: Yet again a menace, you could see a little tiredness setting in as Andy had a few knock-downs and things and he was left either flat footed or miles away, but that's understandable, he'll get a well earned rest against spurs i'd say.

Andy: ANDYYY!, really good to see him happy and on his game, he really played well, got to balls that he didn't a week or two ago, had a few amazing touches and attacked the ball with a smile on his face, i think some of his touches look awkward because of the size of the lad and you say "JESUS ANDY" when he first touches it, then you notice it was actually a great touch and he's off. He had a few great knock-downs too, just needed Luis to be hovering around behind him.

Kenny: Well, Kenny is Kenny, he attacked, he showed faith in his players, most of all Big Andy, and it's obviously paid off, tactically great with a bit more pressing and using Adam and Hendo to push out in a 'V' shape when receiving the ball which really seemed to thin their defence.
Top performance all round, hope you all agree.

Cheers.

Also, i didn't mention the goals because i'm pretty sure everybody remembers them.

Fully agree, Red7 - great analysis

Is there any football teams in Siberia?
That's where I'd sell Tevez if I was Mancini,
still probably better than living in Manchester.

I'd sell him to Anzhi.... but make him live there not Moscow!

Now that Barca tore up Hleb's contract, he has been in touch with DC and will sign next week after DC gets Kenny's stamp of approval.

I was told by the Sayers and they are never wrong!

Make good pasties as well....

You got the wrong Sayers, Sooty

If Andy, Charlie, Jordan, Stewart, Luis and Dirk get their form back it'll be like we've signed them in this january :)

Andy, Charlie, Jordan and Dirk played pretty good in last 2 -3 games.

Now that Suarez will be back I hope we'll get 'maximum' points from the remaining 15-16 games! and then we'll see where we stand :)

Lets end this season with some silverware :) . Y.N.W.A

01 Feb 2012 08:25:37
Carroll looking decent now, if he bangs them in then id take that over a new signing any day of the week

01 Feb 2012 08:15:43
Great job putting up with the abuse and nonsense eds can't take some so called fans acting like children because no signings were made. The way i think about it is if the right players aint avalible then we should wait and get the best value for money in the summer. We dont want jelavic he aint good enough for Lfc i would pick carroll over him any day. And did you guys see the dude handcuff himself to the post that made my evening lol.

Quit transfer window does it means liverpool will give chances to exciting youngsters like sterling, suso etc?

01 Feb 2012 07:34:31
Well boys and girls it's been an eventful month on the pitch we have had some amazing results and some disappointing ones. It does look like our luck is changing ever so slightly, just in time for el pistelero to make his return he is going to be clucking for goals and to give the fans happy days along with the hole team. We are not far of fourth at all and just imagine if Chelsea lose and we win! We will be a point behind I think? Arsenal Chelsea spurs still to come at anfield and if we start converting draws into wins then fourth is ours. If Bellamy continues like he has been kuyt finding form Carroll looking better and better gerrard back Suarez back we got a real chance! Sorry for the long post I just feel rather emotional at the moment......in Kenny we trust...we are Liverpool football club,c'mon guys! you'll never walk alone we can do it. X

Almost no one trusted KK when he said that there will be no signings. "Smokescreen" etc.... It's not good that so many of Liverpool fans didn't believe KK. We'll see what LFC will achieve this season and depending on that we shall see what the next transfer window will be like. All the best to LFC and KK!!

Why is it not good?

01 Feb 2012 06:57:55
king kenny not want 4th spot what a club cant even get a loan player we going down hill

01 Feb 2012 06:37:24
to all you Carroll haters you can just shut your mouth, he had a great game and looks like his form is starting to heat up

Settle down, he has had a decent couple of games, finally, but he is hardly setting the premier league on fire.

hi guys,
first of all i am a true LFC fan and i lives in india.
this post is a simple copy paste as i liked it.
it means no offence to anyone but love to have your reviews.
----------------

Some facts on Why the FA is the reason Manchester United have their dominance for the past 20 years.

1. Marketing
Ever since the Old Division 1 was promoted to Premier League, Manchester United investing their market to the continent of Asia, which is a slump of dollars since that time, in this era of television and mass media. The FA has the money benefits in the investment of Manchester United in Asia, thus promoting English football in Asia, more television revenue, selling of merchandise etc... In gaining popularity, the investor main group has to be the popular figure, which in this case, proven to be the best as it looks in the table to achieve all the popularity. The FA will try their very best to put Manchester United as the most successful club in the Premier League, which means the source of income will never end, but keep on increasing.

2. Controlled club with total control over the FA in the entire Great Britain.
With Manchester United in their hand, the serious cases such as racism, riots, stadium disaster is something that is in control, following the 1989 case of Hillsborough tragedy. Manchester United has the investor of stadium and away matches safety, thus bringing a safer but less passionate fans in the scene of English football. That means, everything is under control to avoid tragedies that can bring scars into the FA such as the Hillsborough or many other tragedies concerning football clubs. In controlling one club, every club in England will set the tempo of an obligation to join the rhythm of the FA, making Manchester United as the role model of all clubs for the benefits of FA in increasing the marketing of the English football throughout the world.

How do they manage to maintain the dominance of Manchester United for 20 years??

1. FA Boards
With the boards having a final say of the pattern of the Premier League, everything is under Manchester United's way; match schedule, venue advantage, safety etc..

2. Refereeing technical aspects
It builds up not only in 1 match, but in the entire season for 20 years, where the referee is giving an extra advantage to Manchester United. The famous United's class of 92's is very well known among the top flight players in England as the leg-kicker and referee's decision maker. The likes of Nicky Butt, Steve Bruce and Scholes are among the names that brings a disgrace to football, with their leg-kicking antics, over physical style of play which was allowed for Manchester United ONLY at that time, thus bringing an unfairness in the scene of English football players. Stats confirmed that in 2-3 matches, Manchester United will surely gets at least 1 penalty decision in favour of them.

3. Mass media
The press in England was under the control of the FA, which is an advantage to Manchester United. Stats have proven that Manchester United has the most chances to speak in the press scenario, in any aspects, any ways and any means. By controlling the media in favour of 1 dominant club brings total dominance over the League. THink of Barcelona and Real Madrid who controlled the press in Spain. It is the same in England, where Manchester United have the power to put into paper whatever they want to.

The tide has changed
Now, the new era has begun, especially caused by the coming of the multi-billionaire owner who makes the club as their past time hobbies. The money is not FA's alone now, it's with somebody else, situated in the Russian Oil Well, Saudi's Oil Field, and at USA's marketing field. Let's think what the FA will do to maintain the supremacy of Manchester United.

It's time to change this. English football and the entire football world will be affected.

What a load of rubbish. Yes they get away with murder sometimes and there is favouritism and AF gets his ass kissed but that s all it is. no big conspiracy.

Great game huh Ed, great to see Andy scoring, and the best of all we x sign any major players. Certainly Teves would be an bad idea, would have just demoralise Andy. I think we are now more accustom to Andy and so is Andy too.
Well Ed(s), have a good break now. The summer comes n we shall start all over again...YNWA.

I thought I wanted someone to sign but after last week and then tonights game, I have to say Im pretty happy with what we have got already. Big Andy is hitting the mark and everyone else is really starting to gel. Charlie Adam's passing game is just sublime. So yeah pretty happy here. Good work Ed's and Macca. You guys put up with some rubbish and abuse. I'm sure there is a lot worse that doesn't get posted.

AussieRed {Ed001's Note - oh far worse mate, 002 seems to get the brunt of it bless her.}

Cheers for the work Eds,

Seems as though we tried to get players in but simply couldn't get anyone we wanted.

Carroll coming good, Kuyt and Bellamy bagging a few and Suarez to return soon.

Whats the need for new players?

01 Feb 2012 01:02:44
Sorry eds but there wasn't a forum to stick this in as it's not a rumour, banter or dodgy...

Want to say, firstly made up with the last couple of weeks. It's been a mixed season in general but the last couple of weeks have been thoroughly enjoyable and the players we had previously brought in have all played their part, even more than the existing ones! Ive been sceptical of all players at times (well a minor mistake here and there by some) but being realistic, I recall the takeover when I was on holiday and the state the club I love was in then. Since then and a bit of a spending spree, some fans have got a bit carried away in my opinion, cavani this and last year aguero that and some of the newish lads have had some stick too, but it's all about rebuilding and getting to where we all want our beloved club to be. It takes time, some 'minor' buys and patience. We have a great manager in Kenny. He's showed how we stand by our own in numerous ways and I wish some fans who show too much impatience or lack of respect, call it what you will, more of the opposite. Our club is going places! The best players don't neccessarily make the team the best teams! Stick together reds...back the team, squad and manager and stop focusing on these 'big' names! The biggest names in my opinion are the ones who where the red of liverpool!

Mike

01 Feb 2012 00:48:37
This is a fact in the summer liverpool will buy.

Maradonna, pele, canavaro, inzagi, rush and kk, will put on the tops again,
please ppls, lets keep sane, he said nothing was going to happen, remmeber, kk does things the liverpool way.
in summer thats when we will be a major player not now.

01 Feb 2012 00:47:21
why do people think liverpool have a god given right to win the Carling Cup? Bolton beat us and the FA cup is a long process too.

Who is 'us' to you. have you got blackpool or sheff wed in the next round of the long process.

01 Feb 2012 00:40:57
are wages an issue at the club more than the transfer fee?

Or not wanting to bring in any players?

01 Feb 2012 00:40:17
I know everyone is dissapointed with the lack of transfer activity but isn't Andy Carroll starting to look like a player again.... might be as good as a new signing. And suarez back soon. Chelsea looking frail still and Arsenal aren't looking too consistent. Its not that bleak people!

GW

Andy Carol never looked a player, and never will. A simple tap does not make up dor the fact tha he is absolutely rubbish.

Ohh Look at that (No) 9 Disagrees

01 Feb 2012 00:39:11
Is kenny worried why the 4 home wins this season. If a team is to have any hope of top 4 finish don't we need to be winning more of our home games.

We havent lost a game if you didn't notice, one of only two teams.

heard on the grapevine that Fernando Morientes is making a comeback, playing centrally with suarez and the king himself playing either side in an attacking three. moving AC to CB to shore up our leaky defence.

Isn't Morientes off to India to play with Fowler, Pires and co in the new IPL type footy league in Feb?

01 Feb 2012 00:31:14
Can't believe the amount of negativity on here tonight, we just beat wolves and are doing great in both cups, still in the mix for a champs league spot!

The amount of abuse the eds and macca get on here is shocking! Done well during the window eds and macca don't let them grind you down but just remember if we don't sign anyone in the summer it will be your fault entirely and re blame will lie with you lot!! Useless! Why didn't you all get your cheque books out? Lol

Ashy {Ed001's Note - I did offer the use of my cheque book, but apparently you actually need money in an account for it to be of any use. Who would have thought it?}

01 Feb 2012 00:31:05
Why where liverpool so disappointing this window

AH grow up did you watch the match they were great 2nite carroll had a stormer
k-h

01 Feb 2012 00:30:21
Excellent second half wolves were no match for us, Andy is gaining more confident each game for the last 3 games, 4th place not as far as it was, chelcky lost 2 points for once we took advantage of that, hopefully arsenal and Newcastle will do the same tomorrow, I think will have a better second half to this season, let's support the team guys, we don't need new signing as long as the players we already have give their all for the team and suarez is back for spurs game.

abbs

Exactly! All these doom mongers couldn't see Chelsea losing again, for some reason. Their defences is about as stable as the Syrian government. And their attack isn't scoring the goals. Arsenal are struggling with injuries and can easily slip up at any point too.

My money is on arsenal finishing behind newcastle. Its between us n chelsea for 4th. Just hope carrol keeps up his form n suarez repeats his heroics of last season.

01 Feb 2012 00:26:59
Another quite window goes past I am surprisingly happy that we haven't over spent in this window to be fair IMO I think this window is a chance for the " lower" teams to over price their players. Glad we will wait till the summer for any new players. Sick of I say him at melwood or my dogs cat mate saw him at the airport. We were told days ago that no will come in but still people talk pure tripe on here. Least it will slow Down now till the end of the season when we walk away with 2 cups and CL football to look forward to ( love the site )

Good luck eds cuz soon enough the summer signings bulls**t will start and people will take your opinion as fact then turn on you if it doesn't happen and the mind numbing process of repeatedly answering the same questions over n over will start. The luxurious life of an ed eh lol good luck to you all. keep up the good work {Ed001's Note - cheers mate, it has already started though!}

01 Feb 2012 00:17:28
Eds, you ain't got a clue mate! {Ed001's Note - well thanks for that mate, you mean because we kept telling you Cavani and Hazard and Tevez etc weren't coming and they did? Think we have missed out not getting a decent player in, striker in my opinion. Glad big Andy bagged one tonight, I have been hitting this site 1000 times a day in hope we'd get someone. Oh well, let's hope we can get that Champs League and get who we really want in the summer. Tevez would have been my choice on loan in this window.. Oh well, good job EDS, don't know how you put up with it myself ha! Enjoy your rest for a few months!

May be 'hitting this site a thousand times a day' was your mistake.

Why don't you?;
1. Get out of bed
2. Have a shower
3a. Get some fresh air
3b. A girl/boy-friend
4. Believe your mananger when he says he isn't going to sign anyone two days previously

Hi All
Luis suarez ban has now finished it will be like a new player , this could have been a bit of a blessing as the lad has had a good rest after a busy 12 mts of football just in time for a busy run in and a cup final to look foward to happy days ahead
Ross

macca lad you eep up the good work , thes idiots could not pic up a dose in a brothel , maybe we are keeping our money for a superstar in the summer , because the ones we tried never came to us this window , spurs wanted 20 mil for defoe , that should tell these lackies everything they need to know

as i say mate keep up the hard work

,,,mickyb

31 Jan 2012 23:55:21
Got to love the people who come to this site everyday for a month, get their hopes and when Liverpool don't sign the players people just like them link to us they take it out on the Ed's and accuse of them of not being in the know, which they never claim to be, nor do they ever link us to unrealistic players or get anything major wrong.

Thanks for all your hard work, couldn't see much happening this window but it was painful to keep that little bit of hope. Good win tonight, Carroll and Henderson are really improving for me. I just hope Carroll continues getting game time, not all the fans will like it but if he is here for the long haul, it's exactly what he needs.

See you in the summer
L16 {Ed001's Note - thank you mate, let's hope he goes on a scoring run now.}

31 Jan 2012 23:54:01
actually SSN just said not all is over. just faxs had to be in by 11 to the FA and things can be worked out into the wee hours of the morning. not saying we will buy anybody. dont think we will anymore. but it is still technically possible

31 Jan 2012 23:53:57
now thats finished , who do you think we will sign in the summer , i think messi would be a good signing , :)) ha lol

I imagine we'll want to promote youth players next season rather than buying squad players, so anyone we buy will be young or straight up first-teamers. I think Kuyt and Maxi will leave and we will sign a striker and a winger to replace them. Whether or not we go for an established striker or a young striker depends on Carroll's form until the end of the season. Soldado is a favoured option if we want a starting striker, but it is more likely we will look at Texeira. The winger will be a starter, and could be a really big name
