Guys

There is no doubt there was a unpleasant spat between PE an Suarez.

I think we all need to except that what he said ignoring intention was wrong.

However in the end it comes down to 2 people's versions of events do you believe either of them I don't the point is that they both probably guilty of offensive behaviour and language.

If that deserves an 8 match ban so be it

However when will Evra be charged?

Double standards

That is the feeling of injustice

not a rumour just a quick question 4 1 of the eds....i havent really seen much of luuk de dong bt if wer gna get a striker this window dont u think we shud b getting 1 thats profilic...kuz we wnt even no if this lad could hack our football or even b good enough wat u fink {Ed001's Note - erm, well I am not entirely sure what you are asking, Google translate is not a lot of use in this case. Something about Luuk De Jong being prolific I think?}

Basically do u think luuk de dong is good enough do be a liverpool playa/goalscorer.....wouldnt u prefer sum1 thats proven and not frm a team like fc twente {Ed001's Note - I don't feel that it matters where he comes from, as for proven, that is nonsense, there is no such thing as proven. Every transfer is a risk, all that managers can do is lessen the risk by getting the right type of players. De Jong is the type of player that has good technique, the kind who can slot into a pass and move system with ease. He scores goals as well. I really don't see what more you could want from a player?}

Thats all i needed 2 kno thanx ed

I for one would not be too fussed if Suarez was to leave. If we can get 40million for him take it! The guy is trouble and his diving and crying is shaming Liverpool.

I think we should make an offer of 25m for Torres as there is no shame in both Liverpool and Torres himself admitting that they both made mistakes. Have a look at the below video before hitting disagree

We still have not spent much money since the NSV takeover (apart for the money we have recouped) and think we should go all out for Sissosko, MVilla and Adam Johnson.

Think the signing made over the summer are good squad players but never will take us to the next level. We need to make important signings now as Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal are there for the taking....
What do you guys think?

To be honest I don't think Torres will ever hit the form he once had with us but on another note I would welcome him back with open arms as I feel he certainly has alot more to give than just wasting away on the Chelsea bench! 25m? Worth a go! Form is temporary, class is permenant! YNWA

He doesn't WANT to play for us!
Leave it go for goodness sake!

I think you have your priorities different to that of the club.. Stevie has not got long left I'm afraid so the partnership wouldn't last that long and we are building a NEW team. Torres will not come back, I'm not holding any grudge, good luck to him but he's made his bed and now he has to sleep in it.
I agree they had a brilliant partnership, but their relationship feathered out towards the end anyway, almost like they had a falling out or something...
Let's move on shall we..

Myk

Gerrard is biblical ! And the picture quality is good, nice intro the black and white really gave it a moody feel. And a superb soundtrack. That about all i got from the video. All the best.

KNEE JERK

U r a traitor lad

Wtf is with this bring back Torres!
Forget the matter of the controversial departure. Just as a player we dnt need him.
He is PAST his best.
To OLD 28 i think.
He will never play the way he was wen he first came.
Lost pace and simply not good enough

Easy on the traitor stuff mate. Well said Myk.

This video basically explains why torres has never been as prolific as he was at liverpool.

Torres is playing like a man who has the burden of the world on his shoulders at Chelsea. He realises that he made a mistake in the way he left us, and betrayed the fans who loved him, hence the reason he can't perform. Imagine a Torres playing back in front of the Kop, with the shackles removed..formidable partnership with Luis..

Not this she*p again.
FHS, stop it. He's not coming back, he's not good enough, and he w*lted us over.
Sound like a bleating teary eyed person who's just been dumped.

dear Ed(s),

Why are these rumours about Bent and Jelavic circling, surely Liverpool should no that we need true class and not someone like Darren Bent, he is simply not good enough. A podolski, De Jong perhapes even a Giroud or Nilmar are what we need.

Who would be the best buy(s) for you

thedat

Well as much as I don't think Bent is the answer, I do think he is under rated though and is a proven prem goal scorer. Podolski is an option but you feel if we were in competition with Arsenal for his signature he would go there. De Jong is merely a kid with lots of potential, expecting him to come in and score mountains of goals would be foolish. Giroud looks like an Andy Carroll with a better touch, decent player. Nilmar is headed for Roma I think

And what makes you think that Podolski is a "true class"? He could just as easily come to us and be an almighty flop. Remember Sean Dundee? You are big on assumptions, aren't you?

people keep sayn we need a winger why we dont play glen johnson right wing baffles me why cant kenny see that

Do you guys not read the posts, he has a contract (which is ridiculus) which states he has to play right back if not injured and before you say why did he play left back its because he agreed while we had injuries

The Dark Knight

Ive said that for aslong as hes been at liverpool cause hes better at goin forward then he is defending just needs work on his crossing.

ACHILLES.

That is the single biggest load of rubbish i have ever read on here or anywhere for that matter!
No manager / club in their right mind would agree to that in a players contract!
Show us the proof!
Absolute RUBBISH!
Cam {Ed001's Note - you mean like the clause in Joe Cole's contract that said he must play when fit? We had agreed to lots of ridiculous clauses in recent years, it is a way of getting players that wouldn't otherwise join. Personally I prefer the way Kenny does it, if they don't want to join it is their loss.}

Do you seriously believe he has a clause in his contract stating he has to play at right back when fit. Have a word lad.

Ozone

Wheres the proof of this stipulation in his contract?
Don't believe everything you read / hear!

Lol, if we play him on the Wing, then we will been a RBK..

We seem to be sort a squad player. Maybe Right/Wing/Back. I would get someone what could cover both positions. EG Jack of all trades, master of none

Adam Johnson

Ed, Johnson signed a new contract in the summer under Kenny's supervision.
Noooo way would he agree to it!
Why would you believe what is clearly a load of rubbish.
Would nearly go so far as to say it's a smear.
Joe Cole hardly played under Kenny also so that contract stipulation wasn't upheld so why did Cole not sue or get compensation for breach of contract.
It's simply not true!
Sorry Ed, but it's a terrible lie!
No player would get away with something like it including Steve Gerrard!
I'm aware of some ridiculous stipulations inserted into contracts in the past like certain players couldn't train on Sundays as they had to attend church due to religious beliefs but never would we agree to the Johnson one!
Kenny would have laughed all the way home from Melwood on that one!
Cam {Ed001's Note - no, you are wrong. Johnson signed a contract extension, not a new contract. Cole did have to be managed all last season, hence the cameo roles at the end of most matches, due to his contract.}

What rubbish! there`s no clause like that, made up who ha

we need to put some bids in for players like:

then we will: never walk alone

Happy New Year Friends, and what a year it promises to be.

Must confess though, nothing changes overnight - I still hate Ray Wilkins, Gary Neville, and Harry Redknapp - and we still have ridiculous wishlists and negative posts all over the site.

Keep supporting because that is what we do, I believe we set the example and will do the right thing over the Suarez situation. We all knew when we bought him he was trouble, a 10 game ban in Holland for trying to bite an opponent !!!!!!!

He could have bitten off someones head with those teeth.

Support the team, and follow the club and please be realisitc - Darren Bent ???????? I'd sooner Lag the loft in the nude.

Why do you hate Harry aside from whoever is in charge at Liverpool he's my favourite manager.

I've just seen on the BBC website that Danny Wilson gone on loan to Blackpool. Will Raheem Sterling be leaving on loan too?

I have noticed that english players seem to be stunted in their growth into making it into the first team. I havn't seen alot of Kelly + Jon Flanagan this season.

Its disapointing see the youth waste their time watching the first team. While other teams like Arsenal and Man utd try to map out a path for younger players look at Welbeck and Cleverly.

Leaving a club on loan seems to far wiser for many players than staying. I have seen how some players have managed to play the system and used the loan process as a way of getting a move away from the club. At the end of the game, the player wants to do the best for his own career and the club is thinking about league position and the risk of using younger players.

Would you be happier if we played the youngsters at the cost iof losing the best defensive record in the PL ? ( defense is where kelly and flanno play , both players i rate highly but 'if it aint broke...')

I was very disapointed to see Kelly out of the team. Many fans still want Glen Johnson to play as a winger.

Kelly could play more, who knows.

What do people feel about slotting Daniel Agger into a defensive midfielder role? He is comfortable on the ball and obviously has great defensive instincts. We could slot Carra into the centre of defence with Skrtel or even Coates who I like a lot. I just don't feel Spearing can remain in that position if we are to finish in the top four. Interestingly enough, Simon Jones from the Mail who is very reliable and is known as the insider for his column has said Bent IS a target for us along with Fernando of Porto and Montolivo but obviously not all three would arrive in January but all three are targets for the club. He followed this by saying Kenny knows Fernando and Bent would command hefty fees. Something tells me we have an exciting January window ahead again.

Does anyone else wonder about the back line now that Jamie Carragher is being put to one side. Coates seems like a strong player, but doesn;t have other side. He will need someone experiece to guide him in the game.

Wouldnt work. Unless we where playing three people at CBK again.

'Dont fix it if it aint broke' springs to mind regarding our defence.

Shame on you for reading the mail.
Not interested in lies.

##Fresh off the press##
Heard a rumour that the meeting of the clan at Anfield will be to discuss none other than the transfer of the soup lady from Chelsea's kitchen although fearing a backlash from the fans signing a rival soup lady it will be discussed long and hard in to the night before any rash decisions are made. Although the quality of her lumpy pea special is there for all to see. YNWA. Happy New Year..

We should buy TORRES number 9 and CARROLL back to newcastle and buy him (torres) for £40M plase he is better then CARROLL and he is my bes player and you are loseing fans because of CARROLL over TORRES

Loosing fans? people that support Liverpool just because their favourite player plays for them can pop off. {Ed002's Note -

Well if thts the case then they can piss of, any true supporter should be beehind their team and their players. i am fully behind carrol and i think he will come good, just be patient, i mean look what happened with lucas. i'm sorry but i aint making that mistake again. even if it takes a couple of years i will always support him and the rest of the players while they are our club.

To everyone who has been saying Bent isn't good enough ( including Ed001) please go and have a look at his stats. I have and they are even better than I thought!
He is a proven premiership goalscorer season in, season out despite having never played at a top club. What more do you people want?

Chris in Tamworth {Ed005's Note - Playing for Sunderland and Aston Villa is a lot different to playing for Liverpool.}

I agree it is, he should get even more chances to score at Liverpool.

Chris in Tamworth

Darren Bent is a goal snatcher just as Garry Linker was. He gets hisself into the right place to find a goal some how.

Many people may look at his speed, strengh, touch even shooting and see well Torres is better or Rooney is stronger.

But at the end of the day no one really cares how the goal went in. As long as it did. I wouldn't expect Bent to create things on the pitch like Luis or Charile, but he may score from them.

I personally like stronger players such as Newcastle Demba Ba. I thought liverpool should have picked him up from west-ham. I liked him then because the price would have been reasonable. He would of liked coming to a big club such as liverpool. It would have been a total Win-Win Situation. Liverpool wouldn't have to buy that to_s_r Bellamy.

He's got pace, I'll say that much. And that is the minimum requirement. I will cry if we get another Kuyt / Carroll - paced forward.
The Real KB

Yeah massively....surely he will get more service here.

GuvTOB

If bent comes in it will be like a roy selection

Chris I couldn't believe we didn't go for him at 10 million when Steve Bruce bought him. His record has always been excellent. I do agree with Ed that it's different playing for LFC and the proof of that is Carroll, Hendo, Downing & Adam - all not a patch on what they were for their former clubs. I think Bent is a natural goalscorer and could cope with our No 9 shirt but you never know until they step out on the hallowed turf.
ALB. {Ed001's Note - he struggled badly at Spurs, which must be a worry.}

Bent has got a good record, although most of his goals have come as a lone striker. When he was at spurs he couldn't gel with any of the other strikers, hence the reason he was sold.

He is most effective on the counter attack with long balls over the top, we need a fox in the box type striker and I'm not confident that Bent would be successful. I would also be surprised if Kenny and Comolli would pay the kind of figures being quoted the player.

Billericay Red

Darren Bent is perfect for our system.

Ozone

Darren Bent is like Gary Lineker you my friend will get taken away by men in white coats if you carry on saying things like that.

King luis

I have to agree that even though playing for us isnt like playing for 'lesser' teams i also have to agree with Bents stats as that is how the current owners do business and stats is what matter - It's not so much to do with cost, wages, age etc if the players stats add up expect us to go after them if that is what we need. If they come and it doesn't work out they will be shipped out asap(there will be the odd one every now and then).

If you dont believe me that this is how our current owners work go and watch a film called Moneyball and that will show you how they achieved their success with the red sox.

Demba ba's knees are shot.

We can cause city all sorts of problems on Tuesday... our defence is solid, we will play a counter attack system - staying solid, taking their attack then once in possession we will bomb forward and catch them out.

We have the players to execute counter attacks well, we just need our strikers to be on form. City's confidence will be the lowest its been all year, our players have had plenty of rest. Plus we have Gerrard and spearing will be all over Silva, winning the ball back and setting the attacks off.

Will Bellamy start? Will Suarez start? Will Gerrard start? Will Maxi start? Its going to be an interesting match. Bring it on!

I wouldn't count on it. liverpool might edge it as they have had more of break.

Both teams look tired.

Both of our teams will be tired and I can see it being a good match that will set the pace for the other two fixtures we have against Man City. We do have a solid defence but I worry about the defensive midfield position; because one of our key players when we played Man City earlier in the season was Lucas. He was instrumental in dealing with David Silva and albeit that Spearing is a strong tackler he sometimes judges the play completly wrong. If he can put on a repeat of his performance against Newcastle we should be fine. It should be great to see Gerrard at the helm of the midfield again.
I can understand people saying Man City didnt play well against Sunderland today but they have to consider that Mancini left Balotelli of the team sheet and had David Silva and Aguero on the bench. Mancini will definetly have all three on the team list come Tuesday.

Happy New Year all,
I did try to say last week, on this Suarez thing, that it had damaged the club and its reputation. I recall only one other poster agreeing at the time, apart from Ed002.
Seems like everyone has changed their tune now eh ?
It leaves the club in an almost impossible position. If LFC accept the punishment, they would need to instigate their own disciplinary procedures against Suarez. If it had been you or I that had done this at work, we would either lose our job or, at the very least, receive a final written warning. Most likely the former.
If LFC do impose disciplinary measures against Suarez, we would almost certainly lose him at some near point in time. And his morale and spirit for the club would instantly disappear. So it would really mean selling him ASAP.

If the club chooses to appeal, it must be an all-out legal effort to clear his name and have all charges dropped.
Anything less, and we could be seen as begrudging receptors of what the rest of the world sees as an abhorrent act.

Unfortunately, the matter has become as serious as that.
What do you reckon ?
The Real KB
ps eds, posting off me dad's laptop which is older than ed009 ! {Ed002's Note - I am old enough to be Ed009's father - and may well be.}

It may be naive or simplistic, but could it just be a case of biting the bullet , take the ban and trust that the king will have a word with Suarez over future conduct?

Yeah that was me. Guilty or innocent Suarez attracts trouble and will bring the club into disrepute over and over again until he grows up or kenny sorts his attitude out.

MIKEY

Do you feel that if LFC accept the report and punishment, they must be seen to seperately discipline Suarez too ed002 ?
You've been a voice of reason on this matter..
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - I really don't think that the club will want any more publicity than they are getting.}

Yes, I see what you're saying there ed002 and I trust your instincts on this. But if the club accepts Suarez' punishment, and ergo his guilt, then you or me would have been walking if we were in the same situation.
The Real KB {Ed001's Note - footballers get away with far worse and keep their job, unfortunately.}

MIKEY You seem to forget that Suarez is an exceptional footballer with NATURAL ability who, more often than not, leaves defenders standing. You also forget that he has character and is noone's mug on the pitch. He gives as good as he gets and is a constant thorn in any defender's side. Let's not try and take that out of his game. Remember Ferguson going on about not wanting to take the aggression out of Rooney's game, even though he was going around kicking lumps out of players (and middle aged women) at the time.

As for the PE - LS saga, I've read the FA findings and I'm afraid all you people who've been swayed by them have been hoodwinked - first by PE and then by the FA!

Tell me something, what organization comparable in size to the FA engages the services of linguistics experts from a university of the same city of the club who the complainant represents? UNBELIEVABLE!

Since the basis of LS's being found guilty seems to be the linguistic meaning of his words, the last place the FA should have sought advice such as this is in Manchester (take that as you will)!

The whole thing stinks and LFC should pursue this through the Law Courts and/or The Court of Arbitration for Sport, regardless of the perceived harm it will do the club. AT LEAST HE'LL GET A FAIR HEARING. You've only got to look at the pictures of the "foul" that started it all to know that PE is a top blagger!

HI EDS ! always been a big lucas fan and all my mates are now understanding now why and its obviously a massive blow to lose him but do you think we ll buy another holding midfielder or stick with spearing? and now stevies back would you drop adam as i dont believe he's good enough to play week in week out he never looks fit to me.also just like to say young henderson is starting to pull a few strings and can only learn more and improve from our captain!! thanks and happy new year to you all {Ed001's Note - I believe that it is very possible we will sign a midfielder, if we can get the right one. Not as easy as it sounds in January though!}

why is when Suarez gets angry about not getting a decision Its a problem but when some English Player does it,its not a problem it gets called passion or the English way its hypocrisy

ACMD RED

It's called xenophobia. As illustrated in media witch hunts against messrs Benitez and Suarez.

I will also go so far to say that anyone outside an "Anglo-Saxon" type background is continually judged by a different yard stick.

The French share a heritage with the English. You will find anyone that has Iberian blood, or perhaps Latin
blood is subjected to xenophobic treatment!

I would also go so far to say that "scousers" with a large Irish and Catholic connection share a similar fate.

Sad times, but nothing new.

D-Day (1892)

The north french are from the same genetic pool as the Irish.

Not sure what point your trying to make?

Also you will Spainish heritage in alot Irish people also.

There will be some religious connection between the French and certain Irish. The point being made is, tradionally, in football (for this discussion) anyone from a Latin background has been perceived( usually presented by the uk media) as a diver, a cheat, unable to play in the cold, unable to put a defensive display together, cynical, not a good trainer. These are xenophobic views, that the masses have heard and agreed with. These are views that have and will continue to be spread.

They used to be spread about black players too.

There is a global difference, between the Latin people, a lot of Irish and the traditional English and French. That would be religion my friend. But alas, let's not get too deep.

D-Day(1892)

What a load of Rubbish

There is only a difference if you perceive one and guess what perception differs

Ok, i see that Podolski is possible now, but what about Marco Reus any chance of him? Reus and Podolski and we are in the top 4 for sure!!

Podolski is only possible if arsenal decide they don't want him. That being the case does that fit with the owners/management only wanting players who want to play for the team?

Chris in Tamworth

Am I the only one amazed that with his release clause no one has snapped Reus up yet.

John Henry has been on ESPN RADIO and was asked about the upcoming transfer window for Liverpool. He answered they are doing the best they can without champions league football to attract players.But he answered now is to get players who have value in stats because they want to go for a CL spot. He also said and this is the part to listen to money would be no object. beacuse after all how much would you pay to be in a better position when its all done with emphasis on attackers.

I think the key part is trying to attract players without champions league football. But I agree with someone's post the other day. champions league footy should be earned not a birth right. Even for the very best players.

MIKEY

Think i've replied to someone else on this page about stats, age and player costs etc, etc. What i said there is this, go and watch a film called 'moneyball' and learn how our new owners achieved the success they have had with the red sox, it will be the way they operate here - they are businessmen and winning = increased profits. Disbelievers, sceptics and doubters won't watch it because they are afraid of the truth.

Let me see if I have this right:

1. Patrice Evra -- an established hothead and unreliable witness, who has allowed his friends to make invented claims of racism to excuse his loss of temper. Enjoying a poor season, seemingly due to his loss of pace.

2. Luis Suarez -- Liverpool's best player, with two controversial minor incidents in his history and being targeted by opposition managers and crowds, and increasingly the press, with a view to undermining him.

3. Evra loses his cool before the match even starts, arguing with the referee over the coin toss. Literally, arguing the toss.

4. Suarez embarrasses Evra repeatedly throughout the game with his superior skill.

5. Suarez fouls Evra. A minor collision, after which Evra feigns great injury in an unsuccessful effort to get Suarez booked.

6. Evra approaches Suarez, graphically insulting him and asking why he fouled him.

7. Suarez answers Evra with what he believes to be an inoffensive comment.

8. Evra, agitated before the match, embarrassed throughout it and recently unsuccessful in his efforts to get his footballing tormentor sent off or annoyed, seizes the opportunity to position the comment as a racial slur.

The rest -- Ferguson, the FA panel, the press -- follows the easiest and safest logic. The politically-correct, journalistically-easy, editorially-safe, Manchester United-pleasing narrative that the preceding months of Suarez-baiting dictated.

Simple as that? Maybe not. But it makes more sense that the 112-page logic-blurring, fact-selecting, Evra-sanctifying, patronising mess we're being expected to swallow.

Your account appears to be the very biased and victimised stupidity which has brought not only Mr Suarez, but, in the aftermath, Liverpool FC into disrepute. Liverpool's defence of this incident was laughable, and Liverpool's immediate response to publicly defend Mr Suarez, and to provide T-shirts for players and manager was as best mis-guided, and at worse defending racist language.
All legitimate opinion would suggest the independant committee arrived at a reasonable conclusion, so your observations are ridiculous.

Would listen to you mate if you signed off... Scared Manc

red snake

I take it as an insult to suggest that just because I arrive at a different conclusion regarding the report, I'm in the camp of those who supposedly don't support the club and I'm a closet Manc or something!

There's nothing a stupid as blind loyalty in the face of the facts, as outlined in the report.

Don't try and defend the indefensible.

This was an independent commission, not some anti Suarez witch hunt.

I suggest that you read the report, in full, before making such s**te comments.

Eds, given the fact Adam Johnson only signed a new contract in November, is there any real chance of him moving this window? {Ed001's Note - he will only move on if City land a replacement, when they get someone to replace him, he will leave the club. 01 Jan 2012 20:33:29
Hi Eds, Please bear with me on this.

Have read the whole 115 page document could I add a couple of points to the Suarez Saga?

FIRST. It appears that the matchday procedure for the Referee Marriner was to take Evra's complaint after the game with SAF present and for contemporaneous notes of that interview to be written by the 4th Official.

Luis was NOT interviewed on the day as his English is poor. I have presumed that to keep things legal he would have required an Independent Interpreter and there is no mention of it in the report being considered or offered to Luis by the match official. Had Luis been interviewed correctly on the day in the presence of an Independent Interpreter maybe the whole truth would have come out on the day and matters may have taken a different course - one way or the other.

SECOND. The contemporaneous notes written on matchday were reported in the document, for some unexplained reason, to have been destroyed after the Referee wrote up his report. These notes were vital evidence and should have been retained and handed over to the Inquiry.
By the way, if anyone now complains to the Crown Prosecution Service hoping to get Luis to Criminal Court the first question will be "Where are your contemporaneous notes Mr Marriner?" Answer "I've destroyed them sir"
Case Dismissed - You are free to leave Mr Suarez.

I believe both these points show the matchday procedure to be deeply flawed and could be used at any Appeal if Luis or the Club go down that route. Either way it's an unethical way of gathering, preserving and presenting evidence and wouldn't be tolerated in any British Court.
Luis should have been granted the same interview opportunities as Evra, including Interpreter if required, and the written notes should have been preserved.

I know john barnes has commented on this does any one know if howard gayle has made a comment if he hasnt then i think i know why and if he does reply i will agree with his opinion one hudred per cent as he is a fellow red . i think we have to accept the inevitable. the ban would of been half over now.

The Africa Cup of Nations starts at the end of Jan , what premier league will be without players? It may weaken teams going for top 4 and could help our progress?

Chelsea lose a few, arsenal a couple, spurs none & not sure of the manchester clubs {Ed002's Note - Cheslea lose Drogba and Kalou only.}

I cannot believe all the posters saying Liverpool should accept the ban. Read the whole report and tell me the same. In Evra's evidence their are inconsistencies and the abuse he gave to Suarez was sickening and far worse than anything Suarez said.

Fact is in a criminal court it would be laughed out by a High Court Judge. Liverpool should appeal and have every right to appeal. {Ed001's Note - unfortunately it is not a criminal court and so the club would only be able to have the severity of the punishment reduced.}

How is it worse then what Suarez said? Suarez used the term negro seven times, kicked Evra, told him he doesn't speak to blacks and told him he kicked Evra because he is black. Please man will you listen to yourself. We as a club need to take the punishment now before our great club loses a lot of respect.

Hi Eds;; I hve just read an article on racism by James Patrick Kirchner, A leading Linguist Expert, it,s nothing to do with the Surez case but may be of interest to fans;
And I quote;...Clearly there are expressions generally considered impolite or offensive-but in some instances people may not realise changes have happened and old fashioned terms are used mistakenly.
You see langusge change happening across generations.
When my father was young he was conditioned out of politeness to call black people coloured.
By the time I was a youngster that was seen as rude, and the acceptable term we were expected to use was negroes- but then by the time I became an adult an adult thing had changed again to black. In recent years, political correctness has seen black people in in the US called African Americans.
But an interesting study found the largest cohort of African Americans preffered to be called black. It's difficult to pinpoint exactly when these changes take place but it is usually due to political agitation through pressure from organised groups,....Bobbinred

I know what your saying but I think It would be worse for the clubs rep as a whole if we was to drag this out,don't forget Liverpool football club is a global brand which could be damaged

Ste liverpool

Talk about looking at it with misty, red eyes?

I've read the whole report and I can't see where you getting that from.

This is a very serious situation and do not forget that the clubs owners are American and you need to look at this thing from a more international view, rather than just here.

The damage for potential sponsors is very serious and this sort of thing can stick.

The club have to take some action, in the form of an official apology to Evra and Man Utd, to try and limit the damage here.

This talk of an appeal is just nonsense.

Nobody is accusing Suarez of being a racist, but the things he said in that report are unacceptable.

Nobody is bigger than LFC. Not Torres or Suarez. If this was a player of lesser ability, I don't think they'd be as much fuss about this from some fans.

I may be in a minority, but if he did say those things I do not want him at this club.. Not Torres, no Suarez.

We need to show some humility. None of us saw all the evidence and this was an independent commission, not the FA.

I was just bringing the veiws of an independant Linguist into the racism issue not the Surez issue. I do think though that this is is the type of specialist the FA should have used instead of using an interpreter, who may not be conversed with the different dialects and interpretations of the spanish language, with the interpreter it would depend on where he learned the Spanish language.There are different interpretations depending on culture and parts of the world. Not unlike our different dialects, Birmingham Liverpool and Tyneside come to mind....Bobbinred {Ed002's Note - Linguistic experts were used.}

Puzzling Question for Everyone:
There are many unexplained mysteries in the world.
Crop Circles,
UFOs,
The Egyptian pyramids,
The loch ness monster
Stonehenge...

Now try to answer me this.
Paris Saint Germain,
become one of the worlds
most wealthy football clubs,
so why would they want to sign David Beckham?

Because he is a bloody good footballer!

Because believe it or not he is the biggest ever mechendise sales from the beautiful game .that why psg won't him .

Sell shirts

For the publicity he brings..?

dmedly

You sign Beckham...you sign a brand a promotion. We all know the clubs Beckham have played for. PSG are a big but unknown in some places due to their recent success. If Beckham goes to PSG, they will be known in the US maybe Asia. This will allow them to attract players internationally.

Shirts, celebrity, press attention ... I believe Justin Bieber is set to be one of their ball boys. {Ed003's Note - lol, I best not tell my middle daughter about that we'll end up camping outside Anfield }

Beckham has never been a good footballer. he is a celebrity never a footballer

This Louis Suarez situation could have serious consequences for the club; if somebody very able in such matters,does not deal with it quickly, effectively and more sensitively.
There is no doubt at all that Louis said something to offend Evra and wanted to antagonise him, probably,Evra was doing the same. But the most important thing to remember is. Louis is not whiter than White. ( no punn intended) and Liverpool FC and Louis need to express their sadness and regret, that Mr Evra has been so offended as that was not Louis intention. He was just retaliating and was unwise to use the word/s LiverpooLFC Need to appologise to anyone who was offended by their reaction ie the silly shirt thing. I like so many, know we do not condone racism in any form and do a lot to stamp it out. but, the club need to make it absolutely clear, that they would never; no matter how important a player was to the clubs success
would they support him, if he was guilty of racism on or off the field. This must be made in some form of written announcement or through the media but made to everyone and especially to anyone who has been offended by Liverpool football clubs stance.

We have massive respect throughout the world, our fanbase is incredible and it is vital we are projecting to all of our fans the right image.
I truly believe Louis is innocent of racism, but guilty of aggressive behavior and that's why he is being punished. For being aggressive and offensive. We should accept that and let everyone know who needs to know, LiverpoolFC will not condone or tolerate that sort of behavior. Then let their Lawyers deal with any discrepancies and if they feel the punishment was a bit harsh.

Our reputation and has done so much for all of the success we have had on and off the field and that's why the Americans were keen to invest in us. its the global attraction the club has, or they would have looked elsewhere and we would have been stuck with Dumb and Dumber and who knows where we would of ended up. We must remember we have not been that successful in winning trophies in the last 20 years and if we had a poor reputation, we would have struggled to attract anyone to the club.

I hope we sort it out soon and Louis stays. However our reputation is more important than Louis Suarez and if the owners feel that our reputation has been tarnished and the only option is to let him go, then so be it. The club has to think very carefully about it's next course of action, which they obviously will do and i don,t envy them one bit.

Paul. B

Top post.!

Well said! the club needs to take a more conciliatory approach, distancing itself from anything that could be interpreted as supporting such comments.
It will be interesting to hear what John Henry has to say about the findings, as he's going to have to respond to the US media coverage which is very unsupportive of the stance LFC has taken to date.
Digger

Have to agree. I commented last week that LFC have done themselves no favors with their knee-jerk, unstinting defense of Suarez, and repudiation of the initial panel judgement.

LFC's reputation and image has been put at risk by this incident, and by Suarez's role in the incident. The reputation and image of the club is part of the intangible asset of the club, and why we have so many millions of fans. It matters more than trophies won.

The first and foremost responsibility of the owners is to protect this invaluable intangible asset.

Oh come off it - if the word he said is accepted in one country but not in another hoe was Suarez to know and are you telling me that if LFC went on tour to Africa or Asia tomorrow with Suarez leading the line that no one will turn up to the match, this is only getting out of control because of the press. Accept the ban and move on the report says he is not a racist just a bad choice of words from a language barrier breakdown.

01 Jan 2012 19:53:34
Eds and reds, im not implying this would happen but if suarez leaves liverpool for about 40-50 million who would you bring to the club with that money?

Thanks {Ed001's Note - I am not sure, I would certainly stick with the club's current policy of finding players that want to play for us. So it would really depend on which players around did so, I would love the likes of Higuian, Ozil etc, but only if they are coming to play for the club not the money.}

40-50 million are you high he's worth 22/

Don't like it but have to agree Suarez needs to prove he's not trouble anymore two seasons with 7-8 match bans and the handball that the whole world watched no one would pay 50 mil when he's a liability, great exciting player but he needs to control is temperament on the pitch, it's his only really big weakness

Ive been reading this site for a years now and never posted,

Is just a bunch idiots writing to santa what they want for xmas and fans from allover the world playing fifa/Pes. Just becasue they have good stats doesnt mean they can cut it the prem league.

We need a striker that can score and we need a winger that can cross. And we need to find the right player within our budget that are realistic targets. So Edin hazard and higuain and ozil and all the others mentioned signed them up on fifa where u have a chance.

I see why you have never posted lol.

Bent is average. Lennon can't cross for toffee. I am so glad you aren't the manager.}

Very true ed!

Danny

Are you insane!? Shaquiri is class, and Henderson is going to be a good player. I kind of agree on Downing and Carroll, they were too much but let's just be patient. I remember when new players used to sign and they would be blended in over time and succeed or not. The internet age puts everything under a microscope and people get a warped perception of things. And let's face it - you must have a warped sense of things if you'd rather we signed Darren Bent and Gary Cahill. Along with Shawcross they have to be the most over-rated English players I can remember for some time. Lennon is only marginally better than Walcott - which is not saying much really.

Few things have been on my mind, and would appreciate any input:

If Johnson won't play out of position (right wing) because of his contract, how did he end up playing left back last season?

I'd like to see kuyt play up top more often (especially while Suarez is out) he works so hard and his game doesn't rely on confidence which is a plus. He keeps chasing and can finish when he gets in decent positions. We do still need another striker and I'd love us to go for huntelaar, podolski or muller (unrealistic I know but a man can dream)

Finally I think Suarez should apologise for what's happened, just say sorry, i now know what I said was wrong and take the rap (hopefully a reduced ban).

Happy New Year reds,

J

I remember one of the Eds saying that Johnson agreed to play left back to help the team out.

Make a couple of signings hopefully in this window

Cahill-10m
Bent-24m
Total: 34m

The team while suarez is suspended

Reina

Johnson Cahill Agger Enrique

Bellamy Gerrard Adam Downing

Bent Carroll

Subs: Doni, Skrtel, Carragher, Henderson, Spearing, Maxi, Kuyt

You must be mad if you will spend 10 million on cahill and then drop skrtel he has been our most improved and consistant Player under king kenny.cheers psv

Why Cahill?? have you not been watching LFC these last few weeks Skrtel and Agger have been awesome and I know Cahill's head has been turned but he has been awful for Bolton...

NS

I wouldnt be takin skyrtel out of the team right now, him and agger look solid.

We don't need cahill. he is average at best and skrtel has been fantastic

Danny

Sounds good dropping our most in form center half to the bench!

I would not replace skertel with anyone

Carroll and bent up front u havent got a clue neither is good enough for liverpool

THE BIRD

Cahill? Are you mad? If we wanted an English centre half I'd rather buy Jagielka

Chris in Tamworth

Bent would be lots for 24million. And droping Skrtel doesn't make any sense. perhaps, he is the most improved player currently playing in the team, as Lucas is injured... YNWA

Its not as if we are short of cover- Agger, Skrtel, Carra, Coates and Kelly aswell as the Academy lads. Dont want Cahill dont need him, we have better talent on bench. All the best.

Bent. Nowhere near good enough. Cahill. Our defence is the best in the Prem. We have two fantastic on-form central defenders and strength in depth. Full backs is the same. We don't need Cahill (he's overrated anyway)

Watched the Sunderland City game. City look wrecked , Yaya Toure ( City's anchor) the last ten mins looked completely knackered. I reckon we should go there with lots of energy, quick passing and 3 points should be well achievable. Think Lescott and Kompany are well shakey at the back. With yesterdays results its tightened things up again, Spurs must hit a dip at some stage, Arsenal will be stretched when CL starts again( although they are more than likely heading for an early exit to Milan) Wolves get a win against Chelski AVB will be sacked. All good.

PLEASE STOP ASKING THE SAME QUESTIONS.

I would want him and first refusal on ozil

01 Jan 2012 19:01:44
Our team would be complete if we had a winger and a creative player.

Winger- Hazzard possibly Cole and 25-30 million
Lavezzi possibly 25 million but Napoli are in
the Champion league.
Podolski possibly 15 million ive heard that he
has a 15.6 million pound buy out.

Creative player- Ozil no chance maybe in the
summer yes but not know.
Eriksion possibly but dont think he wants to join I think we already have him SUAREZ

Suarez should do a Modric and play freely. A striker could be bent always finished with more than 15 goals a season except one where he scored 9 but he was injured and hes EPL proven.

Gerrard can play the deffensive role so really we are sorted.

TOP 4 HERE WE COME.

how about a suarez swop for tevez

How about Suarez stays, apologizes, takes his ban, learns his lesson, grows up and helps us win the league next year? Tevez is a whiny little baby.

Chuck Norris

Doubt he'll stand and take the ban and he certainly won't be apoligising.

Read the report. The most basic summary of it is...we believe whatever anyone from Man Utd say, we don't believe anything coming from LFC. Its a complete farce. The media are on it with a vengeance. Ed02 may not want to recognise this, but the facts are the FA and media are doing their utmost to tarnish LFC's name and have been for a few years. Anything for old whisky bake

Not a transfer rumour more an anti rumour post.18 months ago Arsenal signed Chamakh and the screams went up that L'Pool had been robbed of a great free player.He barely gets a game and I've just heard an Arsenal fan yell that he's rubbish!Now the posters here are screaming for us to sign Adam Johnson.I watched him against Sunderland today [ have watched him a lot on t.v. ] and is he the saviour we really need? Sign him and I'll predict that by the end of the season he'll be getting called another Downing and rubbish by the same people who screamed for us to sign Stewart.Be careful what you wish for as you might get it!

Adam Johnson has all the tools to become a true world class player in my opinion. Would love this kid to join

It is a New Year and we can all look forward and be optimistic about the future.Without getting too excited if we can win at the Council Stadium on Tuesday we will only be 8 pts behind and then as we all know anything could happen.
Especially if we can start to take advantage of our chances in front of goal.
The other thing we can do is stand together home and away and make so much noise show the players we believe scare the life out of the opposition, lets invoke the spirit of Istanbul get that twelth man back (Shanks always said it was worth a goal).

We may not quite get back to the top but if we just miss out and qualify for the Champions League it will have been one hell of a ride,come on boys lets get the noise rolling again lets make it a great 2012.

Good sentiment derek positivity from the fans is what the club needs going forward

I've had New Year greetings from family in Boston, Redsox fans are dismayed by Suarez story (there is a more PC attitude in US society than in UK) this will also be reflected in the owners attitudes, it may well be that Suarez will go, the yanks will not have racism charges against the club reflecting on their sports business in the USA

Cant believe the owners never vetted the statement and t shirts . the word negrito is also common in the states . i think you will find its some one trying to make mischief {Ed002's Note - I don't think the word "negrito" is common in the States at all.}

I think you'll find that very few Red Sox fans are remotely interested in what happens at LFC.

Liverpool's global reputation is being harmed as the club backs Luis Suarez despite his suspension for racially abusing an opponent, a group campaigning against racism in soccer said on Sunday.

The Uruguayan forward was banned for eight matches last month after being found guilty of racially insulting Manchester United's Patrice Evra during a league match at Anfield on Oct. 15.

Following the release of an independent panel's report into the incident, Liverpool is considering whether to appeal but has been unwavering in its support of Suarez, with the whole squad wearing T-shirts with the player's face on them before a recent league match.

"We would call on the club to think again about their public campaign to dispute the charges and contest the principles involved in the case," said Piara Powar, executive director of Football Against Racism in Europe.

"As a club with a good international standing, the vehemence of their campaign is unquestionably causing them reputational harm."

Liverpool, which has until Jan. 13 to make an appeal, is owned by the parent company of the Boston Red Sox. It has previously questioned Evra's reliability but the 115-page judgment found the French defender was a "credible witness" and that Suarez's evidence was unreliable.

Suarez called Evra, who is black, "Negro" seven times during the on-field confrontation, according to the report.

With racism in soccer a closely watched topic in Britain, Powar believes the issue is finally being dealt with. England national team captain John Terry faces criminal charges over allegations of having directed a racial slur at an opponent in a separate incident.

"It appears the FA have taken their time to initiate a process that was both fair in its implementation of football rules, and in accordance with the principles of British justice," Powar said.

"Racial abuse between players on the field of play has been an unspoken taboo for too long, an area that has been unsatisfactorily dealt with by English football despite many cases over the past 10 years."

A very big thank you to our Manchester correspondent.
Derek.
ps somebody out there must be missing a tool from their kit!

I would say England his ahead of many other countries in dealing with this issue, bananas still get thrown at black players from the stand in Spain! In Italy and some eastern Europe leagues, the far right is rife amongst fans. People will try sensationlise the issue, for sound bites and to suit there own agenders. This needs resolving quickly, so we can move forward. All the best.

Suarez needs to act fast. There is no point in labouring the finer points of this case. He, and the club, needs to take the punishment and accept that things are different here. He can rebuild his reputation by going on the offensive when the dust has settled by playing great football and stop getting into silly situations. As always I find it fustrating that these guys can't just keep their mouths shut on the pitch and get on with playing football, after all that's what we pay to see.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

3 points, we need CL footie.

Chuck Norris

I'm thinking let them win just so the spam don't take the league

3 points and a two-legged win as well please. The cup games will be more like a European tie, and we can do those, can't we!
ND

3 points over a cup win? Na, no chance. There's a long way to go in the league, and even though it'll be nice to win on Tuesday, I don't think it would be season defining if we lost, so a cup win over 3 points all day long.

Turning the resluts in our favour against the clubs at the middle and bottom of the table, and notching up as many points as possible is what we need to do. That would be more season defining than 3 points at Eastlands. We need to be ruthless infront of goal against teams we're expected to beat.

question for the eds. all this talk of suarez leaving. is it true? and why would he leave if he does? {Ed002's Note - Please read the other posts.}

Hi Ed002. I haven't the time nor means (on mobile) to read the report but could you clarify 1 thing plz? Did Suarez admit to saying the 2 phrases "Because you blk" And "I don't speak to blk's"? If he did then he is guilty plain and simple and I am not sure why all this whoha.

Tx

Chuck Norris {Ed002's Note - No, he did not.}

Tx Ed002, so what phrase exactly did Suarez actually admit to saying? This is basically the crux of the matter isn't it?

Chuck Norris {Ed002's Note - It is rather more complicated than that, but translated "Why, black?". You need to probably have someone print you out a copy of the report and settle down and read it in full.}

Tx Ed, back in the office this week and will read it.

Chuck Norris {Ed002's Note - Good but don't steal time off your employers.}

01 Jan 2012 17:04:27
And so it begins Ed002 mate. We are now being condemned by anti-racist groups, in the Washington Post and Sports Illustrated. It will be very interesting to see what FSG, do now.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed002's Note - I know this is happening and it was evident that once the detailed report was published it would to some level or other. What nobody was expecting was such damnation in the report in relation to Suarez changing his story several times - particularly when confronted with the additional video evidence. I tried to explain the naivety of the Liverpool statement on December 20 or 21, and the stupidity of the shirts being worn before the Wigan game and these issues are going to come to the fore again in the reporting. We all understand and expect the club to give the player their support, but as I tried to explain yesterday, there now needs to be a damage limitation exercise, particularly in the United States. The AP items the Washington Post are carrying are, of course, well written but pretty "bland". They also only reflect the views in Europe at this time. It was no surprise that Piara Powar decided to say something on the matter and the bottom line to his statement is that he is encouraging the club to ensure that there is no appeal by Suarez. There will be some backlash in the states and FSG will worry about the image of the club being tarnished, the image of FSG being tarnished and the possible impact on sponsorship.}

I think it will blow over. Also the t-shirts were just a showing of solidarity for a teammate regardless of whether he was right or wrong. No doubt Suarez is a bit of a fool sometimes, but hes not an evil racist monster. If we dont appeal that will also be a statement that we accept that what he did was wrong and move on. I am sure Dalglish an co have given him a grilling behind closed doors.

It's naive to think it will all blow over. Big companies are very aware of being associated with a tarnished club/person. Look at what happened to Tiger Woods.

The Irish Rover

I agree with Ed here, think LFC were a little hasty issuing a statement that early,shudda waited until the report had been sent to them,personally I dont think Suarez shud appeal take the punishment & use it as a valuable lesson that what you say will always offend someone on a personal level in every walk of life.

Everyones saying dowing is bad we could just put johnson on the wing and put kelly right back he had enough experience at the start of the season when johnson was injured

Apparently Johnson has a clause that states if fit he plays RB!

What about Ganso, Neymar and Ronaldo? Just a joke, seriously though how come there r so many negative posts, look at where we r today compared to 12 months ago, eds & Macca do a great job, and dont give us false hope, which in itself enhances their credibility, ITK or not anyone with half a brain knows the calibre of players we will realistically attract at the mo without paying some jumped up has been 400k a week. I still believe we'll be back on top, patience is a virtue, something you cannot buy with your dirty oil money is heritage, pride, passion and love, keep your Kun Aguero's and Tevezs', let's compare their loyalty when times get hard compared to someone like Stevie, YNWA

Clarity into context, we used to play the way Barcelona do now, we used to be the envy of Europe, we used to have a team, who was the heartbeat of that era? Kenny dalglish, who understands what type of players made that team? Kenny dalglish! The so called bad signings are those in comparison to those who made up a great team, not just stars, but an engine room, we look back at the stars, Barnes, dalglish, rush, keegan etc... But we also need to look back at whealan, molby, Staunton, houghton etc.. Who were the engine room but not seen as huge stars at the time, as they are now! Bringing back a philosophy that has been ripped from the club we all love from the souness era takes time, we had a team built on this! I can see what is happening but am not nieve enough to think that it will happen over night and maybe will not bear fruit for another 18 months! Trust in the process and trust in a manage who has lived and breathed it!

Good post.

I have just trawled through the 100 + pages of the official explanation, and although I am not a legal professional, I have looked at this with some logic.

Firstly, PE claims that in the goalmouth, LS used the N word no fewer than 5 times. Yet he shows shock in his demeanour only after it is used when they are spoken to by the referee?

Now call em stupid if you wish, by why would he be shocked by this racial slur after speaking to the referee, if he had in fact already been subjected to it on at least 5 times previously? and I think that the arguments put forward by both parties, PE's seems more credible because he is fluent in English and LS is not, there may be a few inconsistencies in LS's evidence, but there are also a few in PE's.

As I stated earlier though, it would be more acceptable had PE also been charged for his part in this incident, and both parties punished equally.

ed001. now it's came out what suarez said what is your opinion of it?

will you still stand by this man? many pool supporters said if he was found guilt they wouldn't want him anywhere near the club... {Ed001's Note - my opinion of it? Not sure to be honest what to think. All the statements are riddled with inconsistencies, but, at the end of the day, he was an idiot to open his mouth and say anything at all. Accept the punishment and move on, though I am disappointed Evra isn't also charged with misconduct, considering he admitted being guilty of it too. Other than that, I am not sure what to think.}

Ed do you think it is best that suarez moved on to another club seeing as he will will probably be booed in every stadium, and the huge embarresment he has caused FSG and Liverpool?

Thanks {Ed001's Note - I really don't care about who boos him, that is not an issue for me. But the embarrassment he has caused is, just like the way sponsors are going to view the club while he is here. That is the main issue, I am not sure it makes financial sense to keep him.}

Fair enough ed, he's been charged so let him do his time and move on.

hopefully he will learn from this and become a better man.

Hope we get adam johnson! Seen him play a few times and he looks like a great english addition to liverpool! Hi, read somewhere that we are most definitely interested in Soldado but not for £20m but we are wiling to offer suso (who was a previous valencia target) and possibly another player, which would cut the price right down. Any ideas?

Buy Soldado but give away the next Xavi? No way.

Suso the next Xavi? Really. I've seen the lad a few times now and I don't really the fuss about him.

Suso can be great. I hope, we are keeping him here. Would love to see him in the reds line-up in the future. YNWA

Why all the talk of Suarez leaving?! LFC will back Suarez but not appeal. LFC will sign a striker in January, Gerrard will fire us back into the top four just in time for the return of Suarez, who will get taunted for a month but will over come everything by scoring some important goals and then the whole thing will blow over and another incident will be focused on. Panic over.

01 Jan 2012 15:58:57
The Suarez v Evra case has moved on to the next chapter and maybe it is time to accept there is no ideal solution to the affair.

It is not as simple as a player using inappropriate language concerning the race of another and cultural differences probably played a part. I think we need to move away from 'Evra said this' and 'Suarez said this in reply'

Suarez by his own admission used the language. He shouldn't have done this. Evra is not totally innocent in the whole affair either.

I feel it may be time to put this done to a lesson learned, draw a line under the whole affair. Accept the findings, however dubious, allow Suarez to go back to Uruguay for a holiday and with one eye one the fixture list accept the 8 game suspension with immediate affect. I think he would return for the game at Old Trafford.

The club needs to release a statement backing the player, expressing our dissatisfaction the manner in which the verdict was reached and reinforce our commitment to acceptance and diversity within football. Then get back to matters on the field

Crazy Horse

Well said Crazy Horse the quicker we draw a line under this whole sorry affair the better for Luis, the rest of the team and Liverpool Football Club

01 Jan 2012 15:38:57

Personally i don't believe for one second Suarez will leave this January, however if he did whats all the fuss about? He is massively over rated if you ask me. Phenominal at his best, but rarely at his best. Hes got 5 league goals this year and we're half way through. Even if he wasn't banned for 8 games he'd be looking at a grand total of about 10 goals should he continue the way he is playing.

For £23million and all the questioning of our clubs integrity, is he worth that? I think yes but thats perhaps just me. I'll go on and explain why.

In 11 months:
33 appearances
12 goals
11 assists

Torres' first season stats (and they were the same ages in there first seasons):
46 Appearances
33 goals
4 assists

For me its clear to see in terms of being a goal scorer Suarez isn't even in the same league as Torres, but he does possess more of a creative Spark. If anything, Suarez would be better placed to eventually replace Gerrard as the teams playmaker. Carroll will be good enough to replace Torres if we play a formation first introduced to Valencia by a certain Rafa Benitez in their title winning campaign in which John Carew speared the attack.

-------------------Carroll-------------------
Bellamy-------------------------------*Kuyt
----------Suarez---------Gerrard-----------
-----------------*Lucas--------------------
Enrique------Agger-----Skrtel-------Johnson
-------------------Reina--------------------

This formation relies on Carroll holding up the ball and laying it off to the runners from the midfield, or Carroll knocking the ball down to runners in behind (Gerrard and Suarez). This therefore means Carroll will be the only Striker on the pitch, but the goal source will in fact be our on running attackers.

You may have Noticed the *s next to Kuyt and Lucas. These are because i see these as our problem positions. Kuyt/Maxi are adequate covers for the right wing positions and Bellamy and Downing are capable of alternating games down the left, however we need a first choice right sided forward or out and out winger.
As well as this it is clear to see we are missing an anchor to our midfield.
The only other position i believe we need to fill is a back up forward, because if Suarez is deployed as an attacking midfielder, Carroll will be our only striker.

My persoannl choices would be:
Right Forward - Lukas Podolski
Holding midfielder - Fernando Reges
Striker - Luuk De Jong

Podolski and De Jong are both more than capable of playing as a lone striker, and Fernando is a player in the mould of our own (injured) Lucas. Podolski is also more than capable of playing on either side of a three pronged attack making him an ideal player for the team. Therefore my ideal starting XI after January, taking into account Suarez's Ban is:

-----------------Carroll-------------------
Bellamy---------------------------Podolski
----------Adam---------Gerrard-----------
----------------Fernando-----------------
Enrique----Agger--------Skrtel----Johnson
-----------------Reina--------------------

Doni, Kelly, Carragher, Henderson, Downing, Maxi, De Jong

I strongly feel Kuyt is likely to leave to prolong his international career, especially with the euros coming up this summer.

When Saurez and Lucas return, it is hard to say whether they would walk back into that team should Adam and Fernando work well in the centre with our Midfield Dynamo.

Sorry for the length and 'formation' posts Ed's. Just my penny for thought regarding the transfer window, and how i believe we should play.

Thanks for Reading, you can go get yourself a beer ;)

YNWA! (Adam) {Ed002's Note - I'll let this go, but all of the listings of teams will need to be segregated to where they are meant to be in the future.}

ed could you put a rough number on how much owners have spent so far the media keep saying 120 mill suarez 22 carroll 35 downing 20 henderson 16 enrique 7 coates 6 = 106 outgoings torres 50 babel 6 mereles 12 = 68 i make it they spent roughly 38 mill is that about right or have i missed some. {Ed002's Note - You have missed all of the pay off to remove the likes of El Zhar, Degan etc. You have also missed teh signing on fees, taxes and agent fees. Additionally the owners will be responsible for filling the gap as to the loss the club is making.}

01 Jan 2012 15:16:57
Where is all this crap coming from about the owners and the Suarez situation. Do you honestly think that the owners weren't already aware of the general content and statements in the report? They will have known what was/wasn't said for weeks and I doubt they will be swayed one way or the other by a half arsed FA report that is desperate to paint the whole procedure as being 'Fair'. They've backed their man thus far and I'm sure will continue to do so. {Ed002's Note - The owners did not know the exact content of the report until it was issued. There is no "half arsed FA report" - I am guessing you have no idea about any of this at all.}

What are the chances the poster looked at how many pages it was and didn't even read it?

It's not even worth posting stuff from people who clearly haven't read the report

KT!

Please read the LFC Statement. information was issued to them during the Newcastle Game, so i presume the owners and legal team haven`t had time to digest until now. :)

I made the original post, and firstly, yes I have read all 115 pages of the report prior to my post and Ed 002 I have followed the story in great detail so just as much as most people on here do. I appreciate that the report was not issued until Friday and my post clearly states that I assume the owners were aware of the general context of what was said by whom as this surely would be fed back to them during the hearing by Kenny etc. If they had found Luis behaviour so objectionable as to consider removing him from the club I would be very surprised if they would have endorsed such vocal and public support thus far only to back track now. It is extremely naive to think there were any startling revelations in the report for them or the legal team, all the reort will do is allow them to assess the likelihood of any successful appeal.

firstly...............for those people who are making up stories about suarez leaving cos of this charge..please get a grip..and stop such a wet blanket..u sound like children...whining..........u dont even know whats going on.

secondly eds..........clearly man city have rested a bundle of their supposedly key players.........any thoughts on who will sit out the man city clash who played against newcastle? and also......does the suarez 8 game ban include cup games? {Ed002's Note - I have no idea on who Manchester City will pick to play in their games. Suarez' ban includes all first team games, so yes.}

I cant see us resting anyone for the city match we played friday nyt so we have an advantage that we have 3 days rest were as city only have 1 days rest. then we have the fa cup so that will be when we rest players. think we should really go for a high tempo from the off against city an tire them out before they can take a hold of the game.

To keep Suarez match fit we should play him in reserves matches. We would walk the league.

Happy New Year to all LFC fans and the EDs

I have just finished reading the full report, what else do you do on a wet New Years Day with a hangover. Just a few observations.

PE is a reliable witness Suarez is not, based on the discrepancies in the statement, being considered to be significant and problems he had in communicating through a 3rd party.

PE's discrepancies were considered to not be material and he was clear and concise using english. (All para phrased from the report)

Firstly PE described what Suarez said 3 different ways The N word black and lastly black considering that this is the heart of the matter I find this lack of consistency as material.

Secondly he varies the number of time from 10 to 5 in his various statements, given that the ban was increased from a starting point of 4 games due to the number of times it was used I would also have though that that was material.

Dirks evidence was ignored, which given his reputation would appear to be laughable. If I was to believe any one it would be him. The Ref denies he heard anything or that PE said anything to him during the game and no one heard anything.

In reality it boils down to PE's word against Suarez there is not a shred of evidence either way. The experts came to no conclusions either, they simply stated that if what Suarez said was done in such a way it would be insulting, if done in another it would not be. They then failed to conclude on which they though to be the case, indeed both parties relied on their evidence in their cases.

The independent panel simply made the judgement that Suarez said his insults in a way that formed the opinion that they were insulting. Equally they took the view the PE's comments were not meant in an abusive way, albeit they included some rather crude descriptive comments about is sister and his place of birth.

Unfortunately whilst the whole thing is based on opinion and theirs is Suarez is guilty. As stupid as this sounds I do not believe that an appeal would be a success It will just end up with the people who hear it restating their opinion as that is were the verdict has come from. There is no evidence to discuss or debate, they have heard both parties and formed a view on suposition (spelling) this is clear from the report and it findings.

I am afraid that rather spectacularly we a have lost the PR battle and the hearts and minds of the 3 independent judges. It confirms what I have thought for some time the club have not handled this at all well. They did not recognise the dangers early enough and seem to have relied on indignation.

Sorry for the long rambling post.

Chris, Red in exile

Fair play mate it is a big report..
i myself just have listened to peoples opinions on it and have read condensed key points online..

am i to understand that although players on either side gave reports saying that none of them heard anything or that evra said anything to them about during the match and that durk kuyt gave a more detailed report as he pulled them apart at the incident that all of this was just deemed unnecessary to the case because i think this is a huge factor. Also talking about suarez's previous offences evra has before falsely accused a chelsea groundsman (i think) of being racist and this too was not a factor that was considered. I find this astonishing and please correct me if im wrong?
Shane K Lfc {Ed002's Note - The problem with Kuyt's evidence was that Suarez contradicted it. Any previous incidents were specifically and quite rightly excluded - and that was for both players and again is explained in the report.}

01 Jan 2012 14:39:32
It may just be me, but could this 'Suarez Saga' have been avoided if our club hadn't been so naive? From the minute the accusation was made nothing should have been said to anyone, including the referee, until legal advice had been sought. I feel for luis as in trying to be honest he has given the FA 'the smoking gun'. If we want to get back to the top again we need to get a lot more street smart...

Street smart? Maybe if he hadn't have said anything to Evra and let his football do the talking we wouldn't be here today with Suarez with an 8 game ban... Whether he said it in whatever way, he shouldn't have even talked to him in particular (considering allegations against Steve Finnan and the Chelsea ground staff) then he wouldn't have to try explain himself to the FA... Just being honest

Rocky

I originally posted. Are u for real? Players talk and give verbals all the time, in every match. Finnan and chavs? One was reported by the crowd, a la John Terry, and the other was unproven. But this entirely backs up my point. Knowing WHO they were dealing with they should have instantly shut up shop and covered themselves. As I said we were VERY naive. We obviously didn't take the accusations seriously enough which, for a clu of our size, is indefensible.

Ed, IF Luis wanted to leave or IF the owners wanted to sell him. Considering Real Madrid's apparent interest in Luis, how possible could a straight swap be, for Higuain? I know its all ifs and buts, but it could be something for us to consider IF Luis were to leave.

£225million :)

The only 3 clubs that could afford him city, Anzi and i think Roman would splash out on him too

200 million!!!

Yeah...in Fifa...Jesus I hate the Fifa generation.

Barca would say he is priceless, I doubt he would leave anyway but if you take into consideration Ronaldo leaving for 90Mil you have to consider around that price. I couldn't see it anymore than that.

Round Tomato

125-150 million, don't worry though, only City and PSG can actually afford him.

Take into account the rapid inflation in player prices this year. And that i think he has a release 200-250 mill (not 100% on that) And given he wont want to leave nor would Barca want to sell, every player has a price! 200 mill isnt out of the question. FIFA generation you say hmmmmm. All the best.

I know what your saying KNEEJERK but I just meant if barca agreed to sell and I said no clauses then I think it would be atleast over 100million your right about inflation tho.

My complaint is that, if LS is guilty by his own admission, then yes he deserves punishment, then by his same admission, evra should be banned for the same reasons.
All I want is parity

Red4Ever

But no ones made a complaint about his language have they... And to do it now is just sour grapes...

LJ {Ed002's Note - You cannot ban Evra without him being charged and found guilty.}

Im sure the panel could have see that evra was as guilty as suarez and stated in there report that he was,and then maybe they could have made a more balanced and fair report instead suarez is the bad guy even tho evra started the name calling,
my god this is something you would see on a school play ground.
k-h {Ed002's Note - You seem to be struggling, Evra was not on trial. The Panel had to consider two charges against Suarez. They then, if found guilty, had to decide on the punishment.}

I think your struggling to understand my point of view ed2 i know Suarez was the one facing the charges i said nothing about charging Evra but the panel should have seen that evra was just as much to blame as Suarez for the whole scenario and should have stated in there report that he was.and no matter what you think suarez will be branded a racist even tho in the report the panel and evra said he isnt and it has started already thats all im saying ed.
k-h {Ed002's Note - The report deals with the comment made by Evra. I don't see what more you expect. I am not sure how "branded a racist" would manifest itself but there is no doubt in my mind that this matter will stay with Suarez and certainly his reputation will have been damaged.}

Well im going to be biased towards Suarez and maybe ive got my red glasses on,i just hope that Suarez is strong enough to deal with it and move on,im sure he will a get plenty of stick but i hope that over time it will be forgotten,
and that will come down to how Suarez conducts himself in the future,
im sure you can see why most of us feel the way we do.
k-h YNWA

The fact that it will damage his reputation and the fa and tribunal have to be aware of it is exactly why there should be hard and fast evidence rather than people interpretation of two peoples version of events and which best fits in put another twenty people in a room and i am sure none of them will come up with identical interpretations

Whereas I agree that is was LS on trial, that does not excuse the FA from charging PE for his own admitted actions. Does anyone see those charges forthcoming, because I dont and thats where I feel the FA have shown their own bias and as much as I want this whole sorry business done with, I do not see why any Manc players should be given preferential treatment in such an obvious way. This is the same FA that appaled against the length of ban given to Englands supposed golden boy for deliberately setting out to hurt someone physically, not just a heat of the moment name calling and handbags session. Before anyone waves the racist flag at me, I am myself of mixed English/ Indian heritage, and I think this is just another over reaction by Utd's to get a rival in the press and under pressure. They have been doing it and circumventing the rules everyone else has had to apply to for years.

Liverpool have been naive with regards to defending Luiz Suarez. I can't believe they did not know all the details befoore launching the tirade against the FA and the cheesy support with the t-shirts. As 2012 begins our reputation is at its lowest ebb.
As a supporter of this great club for the last 40 I feel the club should accept the punishment. Luiz Suarez should make a public apology and I would evantually sell him. I do not want a player at this club who uses 'language' like this wearing a red shirt.
To the fans on this page who say we should boycott the FA I say grow up. If it was any other player we would be slamming him.
RedFish

Public apology! Don't you think he's already had enough?
You seem to be branding him a racist when the FA and even Evra had stated he's not. The lad has a black granddaddy for flip sake.

I think you should leave the lad alone.

Suarez has admitted saying stupid remarks the then again so has Evra.
I'm pretty sure it goes on with both sides during heated matchs and that's with all races not just whites. Racism should be stamped out of football but this is a difficult one

Somewhere between the lets hound him out and the lets protect him, the midle ground would be best here. Its always best to procedd with trepadation in these matters the t-shirt fiasco was ill advised and nothing more of that should happen. Its a case now of the less said the better.

The reputation of the club is not at its lowest ebb! Look at what we have been through. I agree with your other statements, we need to move forward and not get bitter and bogged down in the issue. All the best.

Ed001,
What's your opinion on Andre Wisdom?
I know he's been been playing LB and RB recently and tbh he's Not very good there.
The Management have told him it's to help him in the long run as he will have better positioning and awareness as he learns where a CB should cover from his own view.

KT! {Ed001's Note - I think he has a definite future in the game, whether it is with us or not is a different matter. But I think he will be a Premier League player in the future, he has a bit more about him than a lot of centre backs do. I really like him as a player, he can play a bit, I have always liked defenders who have the capability to allow us to play from the back.}

A future defense of

kelly, wisdom, coates and robinson looks rather tasty.

I feel frustrated.

For once we pick up a player who's 1 of the best in the world and being still so young, he could well have had a long career at LFC that earns him legend status.

But now there's a chance he may feel compelled to leave because of an incident he didn't initiate and a resulting punishment that appears somewhat biased and harsh.

I hope with all my heart that he chooses to stay.

But if chooses to go, I understand n he will leave with all the best-wishes I possess.

And I will boo every time evra touches a ball, any ball. Mediocre player with less than mediocre character and integrity.

But LFC is bigger than any player. If suarez does go, we will move on and continue with our rebuilding project under the king.

I hope he stays tho.

With all the hitting of woodwork, missed penalties, dodgy refereeing and the evra-fa tagteam suckerpunch this season, i'm hoping it's time something went in our favour.

Fingers crossed.

Heart forever pumping Red blood.

Are you all bloody mad I can't believe youre even entertaining the idea of Suarez leaving after tge support he has had from the club, and if you have bothered to actualy read the FA findings you would know that it is a paper thin case that is very likly to be torn to shreads by our legal team and Suarez could well have a case for slander against the FA for basing a guilty verdict, and making it public, on one previously unreliable persons say so! Suarez will be with us for some time and he will shut those jeers up with his work on the pitch!
HAPPY NEW YEAR it will be a good one for LFC!

Benzo {Ed002's Note - If you read the report you did not understand it. You do know it was not the FA who found Suarez guilty? Do you know what slander is? If you had read the report you would also know that it does not consider matters of "previous" unreliability.}

Reading and comprehending are not the same thing!

So this independent panel, was it not appointed by the FA?

ChinUp {Ed002's Note - It was an Independent Regulatory Commision whcih was chaired by a QC agreed by both parties (probably on advice of their respective legal teams). There were two parties to the case - th FA and Suarez. Both Suarez and the FA were issued the report at the same time on Friday afternoon.}

Ed 002
You keep saying that the Suarez punishment was not decided by the FA, and you are right, but surely this was only a recommendation of the panel to th FA after their findings.
It is only the FA that can issue fines and bans within our league so to me it is obvious that the FA have issued this ban.
They could easily said to the panel that 8 matches is too severe etc and warned him about his future behaviour do could you please stop saying that it's not the FA who had punished Suarez
Finisher {Ed002's Note - No. The report, findings and punishment were handed down by an independent panel. The FA were one of the two parties in the case and were only given the report at the same time as Liverpool.}

Just to clarify. Is the 8 matches a suggestion by the panel to the FA and now and only now will the FA decide what ban is appropriate? Or have the FA backed the panels view and will issue the ban. {Ed002's Note - It is the punishment decided on and handed down by the Independent Regulatory Commission. It is not up for negotiation but Suarez can appeal if he wishes.}

01 Jan 2012 13:36:26
Out of interest, does anyone know what the FA is doing about the John Terry racism incident?

To my mind, and surely the FAs, it is gravely serious that the England captain has been formally charged by the Crown Prosecution Service. Indeed, the CPS Chief Prosuctor for London released a statement, quote "I am satisfied there is sufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction and it is in the public interest to prosecute this case"

Personally, I suspect the FA will do little to acknowledge the serious racism row surrounding its captain, let alone ban him 8 games, and furthern show itself up to be an inconsistent, hypocritical and shamelessly opaque organisation run by ham-fisted dullards.

JFT96 {Ed002's Note - You are sounding very paranoid and bitter. The situation with John Terry is entirely separate as he has been charged with a public order offence after a complaint to the police. There was a police investigation and once the case has been heard in Court and dispositioned, the FA will most probably charge John Terry with whatever breach of the rules they deem appropriate.}

CMON eD 002 WHAT ARE YOU SAYING ? ITS OBVIOUS TO EVERY MAN WOMAN AND CHILD IN THIS COUNTRY WHAT
JOHN TERRY SAID, CAUGHT LIVE ON CAMERA! IF THAT ISNT RACIAL ABUSE THEN THERE IS NO JUSTICE IN THIS COUNTRY.

And before you ask Im not paranoid !
tel 1949 {Ed002's Note - I have not said anything in support of John Terry and I certainly did not say anything at all in respect of what he said being "racial abuse". What I explained is the situation with respect to what is happening with John Terry with the charge and what will likely happen subsequently with the FA. The original poster wrote "I suspect the FA will do little to acknowledge the serious racism row surrounding its captain, let alone ban him 8 games, and furthern show itself up to be an inconsistent, hypocritical and shamelessly opaque organisation run by ham-fisted dullards." And that is certainly bitter and paranoid. Do I assume that something has made you very angry that you need to write in capital letters, or is your keyboard broken?}

Thanks for the reply Ed.

I've read & understood related reports and statements from the proper sources ie FA & appreciate roles etc

I appreciate JT situation is entirely separate but for something so hugely significant, far more so for the FA and English game than the Suarez matter - certainly in media & PR terms (personally think Suarez matter handled badly by LFC) - surely there should be more than NOTHING in the FAs extensive 'Disciplinary' section on its website as to JT situation, not even a statement (which it did actually release 21st Dec just to let us know that it "will not be making any comment at this time").

This is the perfect opportunity for the organisation running our beloved game to demonstrate that the FA truly is making progress, learning from mistakes and that it actually is properly committed consistency openness & transparency, not just when it suits the FA.

It will be interesting to see how the whole sorry saga pans out (a little more dignified and quietly by LFC I sincerely hope) {Ed002's Note - It is at this time a matter for the Courts so the FA cannot do anything that could possibly compromise that process. The intial hearing in February will almost certainly result in an immediate adjournment. It may result in referral to Crown Court if Terry so desires. However, something has happened which I understand the CPS are most unhappy with in that a statement was issued by the Society of Black Lawyers that refers to the Terry case before the court has heard the case and asks that the CPS consider the Suarez matter in the same way as Terry. At the very best it was a stupid statement to issue, at worst it could put a spanner in the works in respect of trying Terry in a court. Regardless of the outcome, I would expect charges to eventually be made by the FA regarding Terry's outburst.}

Ed - interesting response from you. The Saurez report said that he had brought disgrace (or something along those lines) to the English game and therefore needs to be punished. What the captain of our national team and representative of the FA and English game has done is far worse due to his responsible role and therefore surely the FA are going to have to hammer poor JT. The Saurez case has done JT no favours at all. {Ed002's Note - They are entirely separate matters, and your paraphrasing of the report is not great. As I have said repeatedly I expect that the FA will charge Terry but that it is a matter for further down the road as the public order charge will be dealt with first.}

Ed, thanks for posting my messages and taking the time to engage. I appreciate and respect your opinion. Happy New Year to you, fellow Eds and readers. All the best for 2012!

I am not an Ed, have the highest respect for Gerrard's ability but don't expect too much too soon from Gerrard he's been out a long time, some of the others will have to up their game to get 4th spot. (Gerrard may tire after 3 or 4 games, I hope he does not but the human body can only be pushed so far! An infection like the one he has had will put his body under enormous stress and there may be a backlash! Kenny I am sure understands that and will bring him back into the team at a pace that suits Gerrards body).

hi guys great website, we are not supporting a player who is racist, we are supporting a player who is wrongfully accused of being a racist. evra is a jerk and that is final. i cant believe people are saying that it will be better for Suarez to go. have they lost their mind?. Suarez is the reason why we are in the Carling cup semis and playing well in the league. Also without him, we have players who cant score such as kuyt, carroll etc. I will be very upset if he went and who can replace him?. Us Liverpool fans need to get behind him and the team. {Ed002's Note - I assume you know nothing of the matter at all. Suarez was not accused of being a racist.}

Suarez won't be going anywhere, definitely not this month anyway. He's been through difficult situations like this before. The whole world seemed against him after his handball against Ghana at the World Cup. Then there's the controversy over the biting incident in Holland. He was reprimanded by the Dutch FA for that and handed a 7 game ban and became a public hate figure again. Yes we did sign him half way through his ban but he wasnt looking for a move, we scouted him all season and wanted him. And the reason why he left wasn't because of the biting incident, it was a career move. Suarez is a strong character with big shoulders and he won't let this get to him. Yes he may be booed week in, week out for a while but all that will die down eventually and it will only spur him on. The only very serious and big problem he will have now is the FA have made it public that should such circumstances occur again, he will receive a life ban from English football. This could ruin his career here if players and clubs target him. As for the FA, to say Suarez has damaged the reputation of English football across the world is a disgrace. I take it John Terry standing in court for racial abuse is not as bad as Suarez then? Suarez should sue them for discrimination. Two similar scenarios and only one being targeted by the pathetic organisation that runs football in this country because the other is their national team captain? Shocking, absolutely shocking.

Ed's, what's your view on the Suarez situation? I would love to here Ed001 and Macca's views as they seem to have the strongest links to Liverpool.

Happy New Year to you all and lets hope 2012 is going to be a cracker for our beloved LFC! LFC & Luis Suarez YNWA

does any1 else think that on the bright side towards the suarez ban, he can get that much needed rest after he attended the copa america? i just think he will come bck fresher after the ban and play even better (if thats possible), it also gives carroll a chance to prove he is a worthy liverpool player! :)

01 Jan 2012 12:44:04

Suarez is a great player, but we play better without him!, when he plays everything has to go through him every time we get the ball we look for him its way to much pressure on the lad! when he doesnt we look for more channels to the goal.

I also believe trouble follows him around, Ajax he bite a player and got suspended and we all no what happend here, i do not for one moment think he is a racist but if he had just not reacted none of this would have happened

if real or however offer us 40 million for him bite there hand off for it, he is a world class player but he is more trouble than he is worth

by the way carroll is a good player and every time he plays he plays better, its only a matter of time before he starts scoring and for that matter we give someone a good roasting

We play better without suarez? , you must be bonkers he is our best player u doughnut end of !!

Suarez isn't our best player at all, gerrard is. We play far better with gerrard not saying Suarez isnt a great player because he is but personally I just think gerrard has more about him.

Suarez looks the part Gerrard is the Part

Napolean Hill

If the Newcastle game is any indication, we play far better without Suarez. He is very skilful, but does not make the right passes, and wastes many chances.

Gerrard is far more important to the team than Suarez will ever be.

01 Jan 2012 12:37:46
I reckon the there are only two ways forward now regarding Suarez. Option 1 - Sell him overseas. Option 2 - No Appeal. Accept the 8 match ban and Liverpool FC - as an entire club, boycott all FA & PFA functions etc until further notice. RED LENIN {Ed002's Note - The PFA is (supposedly) there to help players. I am not sure why you wish Liverpool skip their dinner-dance. Again, I have to ask - are you aware that the report, the findings and the punishment were not decided upon by The FA?}

Starting a war with the FA will be unbelievably stupid. The club has mishandled the matter, and its reputation has been tarnished. We need for Suarez to apologize, and hope he can continue in England, or for him to be sold. (The fact that Evra is not entirely blameless is beside the point).

{Ed002's Note - The PFA is (supposedly) there to help players. I am not sure why you wish Liverpool skip their dinner-dance. Again, I have to ask - are you aware that the report, the findings and the punishment were not decided upon by The FA?}

Of course I'm aware - but it was the FA that decided Suarez should face a charge but not Evra and it was the PFA that stood idly by. And as an act of defiance and of solidarity. Anyone who thinks this is over is barking mad. Evra in particular will have defenders muttering 'negrito' to him in every match he plays from now on. RED LENIN {Ed002's Note - The complaint was against Suarez, that is why there was an investigation and charge. Suarez never complained about Evra and denied hearing anything said by him initially, so how could there be a charge against Evra. What Evra said came out as part of the evidence. As for the PFA, what did you expect of them?}

01 Jan 2012 12:34:01
Happy new year Eds

Do you know who the most likely youngsters to go out on loan are now that Wilson has gone to Blackpool? Players like Coady, Suso, Robinson and Flannagan are all going to be good players but it'll be very hard for them to break into the team in the near future. And is there a possibility of Coates going to Bolton on loan in exchange for Cahill? (plus cash of course). Personally I don't think we need him but that's the latest rumours doing the rounds...

Cheers {Ed002's Note - I am not sure who will be going on loan but any players on the edge of the first team squad who are unlikely to get a game have to be candidates. I don't know that Liverpool have any interest in Cahill.}

Flanno is looking for a loan move.

01 Jan 2012 12:27:16
I think the independent lynch mob have failed entirely with their remit. By introducing non-factual arguments into the punishment they have shown that the Suarez debacle is entlrely political.
In a case where there are no witnesses to doubt Suarez' integrity when Evra has twice been shown to have been untruthful in previous cases is remarkable.
Secondly, to bring in the opinion that Suarez' actions have damaged English footballs reputation abroad is complete conjecture. The FA have done more to damage the image of English football than anyone else. Consider the complete breakdown of communication with FIFA: the ridiculous pleading to get an obviously guilty Rooney's punishment reduced on the grounds that, allegedly, he wasn't feeling very happy because his father and uncle were in jail: or to support referees out of some misguided loyalty even when the whole world can see that the sending off was wrong.
Racism to the FA seems to be something they want to use to show FIFA how advanced they are - 'years ahead' was one recent boast. And yet they can convict a man who is of mixed race!
The truth is the FA is seen as ridiculously pompous and out of touch with players, fans and clubs and nobody is sure who they are supposed to represent anymore. The bottom line is that the best players will stop coming here.
Finally, I blelieve an appeal would be pointless as it will be the same people making the decision. LFC must either put up with or take it to the law courts where it will be thrown out.

Sir Derek

Just heard that luis suarez not very happy in england and we all know that he has been found to be guilty which he is to be honest.He is world class dont get me wrong but he cant score goals for liverpool,if he wants to leave let him go because we might get another 50 million and then buy two world class strikers.Being positive it might be a good thing for liverpool that he is not happy he is not irreplaceable like torress.When he gets suspended he is no good to liverpool i think we should cash in and make the team better in front of goal.My information is from a good source in anfield,can you confirm he wants out YNWA

01 Jan 2012 12:21:07
Really wouldn't surprise me if Suarez leaves this month, purely due to the fact that the fa believe he has ruined english football across the world. Making a hate figure against racism and now against the club. It seems to me that they are putting their own reputation and world standing before what should be happening.
I understand the ban if they found him guilty with merit, but I don't think they did.
You can't say he is a credible witness whilst saying that the other is not and was effectively lying to them?
My worry is that if Suarez now believes that outside of the club he is hated by all in England, then no doubt he will leave to Spain etc where he feels "safe"
The fa are driving him out

You do know it wasn't the FA that wrote the report right?
After reading the report there is no choice but to take Evra's claims as true.

He was racist, he's got a ban we'll be fine without him and tbh couldn't care if he leaves or not.

KT!

You couldn't care if our best player left??
Lol

No he is not are best player, Gerrard is.
I couldn't care if he left because no player is bigger than LFC, it would be a little dissapointing, yes, but we would replace him.

KT!

Suarez is not close to being our best player. Reina, Agger, Skrtl, Gerrard, etc are far more important to the team. With respect to forwards, Bellamy has a better strike ratio, as does Maxi.

please explain it to me like i am a three year old but how does evra's rehearsed calm and collected account of what happened on the field and that suarez knew when he was saying these words nobody near would hear no camera's would pick it up or that the microphones they have practically stuck up there arse kuyt being a liar just because he is and liverpool being aware of a few discrepencies so trying to cover it up a more probable scenario than suarez feeling victimised very stressed trying to rememeber the exact details of a football match what was said when at exactly what time I know i couldn't do it and my story would change a few times okay so does it come down to a pinch if you pinch someone it automatically makes you a racist watch out all you three year old children. No i don't think he was trying to defuse the situation by pinching him but maybe it was to take the stress of the situation a quick sly pinch that nobody might see instead of him punching or biting as he has done before. I don't believe evra story is credible i don't believe his demeanour fits i wouldn't be calm if i was reporting what somebody had said in vile terms to me but i don't believe that Suarez is entirely innocent either

Seriously mate plese use the odd comma or full stop will you.
Look it's obvious that Sarez did it (you only have to look at his past to see that`s the kind of guy he is), the issue is proving it. I fail to see how they can prove he did it if it was just the two of them saying different things, if they have video evidence that that would be different.Innocent till proven guilty is the phrase and I can only see it being thrown out if LFC take the FA to court, this is very unlikely and we will accept the punishment whilst grumbling about it being wrong.

Matt b {Ed002's Note - They do have video evidence and as the report explains Suarez changed his story yet again when it was presented to him. What could Liverpool take the FA to court for?}

Wigan vs Liverpool - Gary Caldwell deliberately blocks a Luis Suarez shot with his hand and a penalty is given.

Stoke vs Wigan - Gary Caldwell deliberately blocks a shot with his hand a penalty is given and a red card!

Where is the consistency?

JRG

Consistency:
Adam missed the penalty,
Kuyt also missed a penalty,
Carroll also missed a penalty
Suarez also missed a penalty
We have been consistently sh**e
at penalties this season.

hi Ed,I m back again with another transfer window.so can u or Macca tell us about Liverpool's potential target s? In my view we should be pressing for some top talents like Ozil,Marin,Muller,Higuian,Pato.I am happy with midfield.I m impressed with Downing and Adam.I am really impressed with last one year.Just think where we were and where we are now!!

Thx Ed! But looking forward for your answer? {Ed002's Note - The answer is that you need to read the posts. Where there is known interest in a player like Luuk De Jong, we have said so. I very much doubt any of those listed will be joining Liverpool in January. However, if the club decide to sell Suarez you will probably see a more significant purchase.}

01 Jan 2012 09:05:32
The Ed001 asked about posters highlights for the year.

I'd have to agree the return of Kenny has to be the number 1 for me. Closely followed by his absolute joy at us scoring a goal. Its brilliant to see a man of his calibre celebrating like that when we score.

For a match it was probably the Man Utd game when Suarez rinsed their whole squad of players including the bench at Anfield. Was boss.

Any chance of Adam Johnson joining? Big fan of the player!
Cheers.

Right, January Window.

My prediction is Moussa Sissokho and Luuk De Jong.

Sound reasonable Ed? I'll be thrilled if we get them.

I see a small amount of activity

I believe the appeal will work and Suarez ban will be reduced to half (4 games)

Hopefully De Jong is only a day or so away from signing.
I think A. Johnson is also a big possibility.

I think Dirk will be the "prodigal son" and go home to Feyenoord who will be missing Sekou Cisse & El Ahmadi due to ACN as he will get paired with Guidetti on loan from Man City who already has from memory 10 or 11 this season.

I think G. Johnson who isnt cup tied may venture elsewhere (prob Serie A).

Happy new year all reds fans, I think 2012 will be a good year for us, especially if Gerrard can stay fit.

Been looking at liverweb (good statistics on the site), with particular interest to previous managers transfer signings. With the benefit of hind site !

Since kenny left the quality of signings / successes have been atrocious generally. Most managers have purchased poor players that they have had to sell for much lower fees, most of which have been poor for the teams that we sold them to.

In my opinion Houillier was the worst, whereas Evans purchases proved reasonably successful. I can't help thinking that Evans would have brought us the league had we given him a couple more years, a strong assistant and funds for a quality striker to compliment Fowler. Eds what do you think ?

All you fans judging kennys signings most of which have only been with us for half a season and in most cases only young, have a look at the previous managers signings and have some belief that kenny will take us to the promise land.

Just a quick question , why doesn't enrique play for Spain, the Spanish team uses arbeloa as left back even though he is a right back. And do u think he will be called up to the Spanish team for euro 2012?
Cheers, Zincho {Ed002's Note - Currently Alba is picked ahead of him.}

01 Jan 2012 03:47:06
Positives for the Suarez ban:

Carroll will get more games and he will score more than one goal.

Suarez will be back fresh after a rest, for the business end of the season.

The team will attempt more crosses for Carroll.

Scouse Pride

Yeah attempt more crosses............. stuff that, one in one hundred will hit the target let alone go in...... there is no positives from this

Here's to hoping that you are right.

BooDabooze

Carrol will benefit from Gerard being back. He'll now get some decent crosses, as was shown on Friday. (well nearly anyway)

I wonder how the owners will feel now this report has come out and basically says Suarez is a rascist, do liverpool still stand by him
Would that show liverpool to be morally bankrupt and give rascist overtones to the club

Pardoe {Ed002's Note - The report explicitly says he is not a racist.}

I think people are over-reacting on here, suarez will not leave in january and liverpool will not look to sell, he has not been accused to be a racist but simply his interpretation of a word and the fa's is in contradiction, suarez is a fighter and im sure he will be with us for atleast a few seasons.RedTurk

We missed the creative force of Meireles in midfield. If Liverpool had him, they would have won more games and drew less games. However Gerrard is back and will the gap left by Meireles.

Grow up
did u not watch the chelsea game?
weak
harry h

Creative force thats missing? We have created more chances than any other team this year..... its the finishing touch that has been missing, you clown!

He does Next to Nothing!! they did well to get back what they paid for Him.

And he has a ridiculous haircut. What a wally.

I am totally cheesed off with the way Suarez is being scalped and being made a scapegoat as...
1. Evra started the whole abuse on the pitch in the first place....

2. lied about the abuse he gave against Suarez even though the whole planet saw the abuse in Spanish....

3. Rolling stones and other bands have sang with the word negrito which is hey my brother, but Evra has stooped so low with twisting Suarez's words of intent around to get Suarez busted, even though it should be Suarez reporting Evra for the initial abuse in Spanish.

4. Suarez is no way a racist, and supremely honest to say to the investigation committee he said the word Negrito as a come off it my brother expression with no intent, even though no camera picked it up, so in other words this whole racist thing happened because of Suarez's honesty of saying this word once.

5. When Suarez admitted this truly believing he done nothing wrong as many back Suarez as no way racist, what does Evra do, he only says he said it in anger 7 times, which is pure bollox, and i don't believe for one minute Linguistics picked this up, just took Evra's word for it, to justify their existence.

In a nutshell, Evra is guilty of starting the whole thing but he will get away with it, while Suarez is busted heavily for "unreliable and inconsistent evidence" which is based around Evra's word and linguistics guessing.
English F.A who condemn Blatters racist Eufa crap, are trying to make an example of Suarez in their own back yard, but the whole thing really sucks as they're so over the top with an 8 match ban, without no hard evidence, just Suarez being honest of saying a word which is accepted globally but not in England.

Its like this, how many people have said hey Paddy, hey jockey, hey Taff, without intent, in friendly banter. Well it seems Evra has over reacted, dug own his grave again, got everyone on the bandwagon, to all back pat each other against Liverpool F.C.

There is something not right about this so called Linguistics and the 8 match.
Any chance these Linguistics are Man.U fans.

Do you think the FA are going to bust their own England Captain John Terry for alleged racism, to miss the Euro finals next year, and weaken their own chances.
It will be interesting to see how the Linguistics and all the committee's think now.

I think the Suarez case is so severe, even though everyone knows Suarez is no way a racist.

The conversation was in Spanish, would of thought De Gea would of heard or at least caught some of what had been said. Especially the context and frequency of times in, which the word was allegedly used?

LFC4LIFE

Im irish myself and u cant imagine how annoying those words paddy is its 1 class looking down on another might not b much to u whos never had that treatment but it is to others i support suarez its getting harder jimiwat

Just by u saying the words hey paddy shows your stupidity when it comes to racial issues... from your eyes It's only in jest idiot
Espur

I don't think the FA should have put in a report the words "Luis Suarez has damaged the image of English football around the world" as this is an assumption and has nothing to do with the case also what else have they assumed with regards to the evidence. As for the "rest of the world" part that is just nonsence because the word he used is part of the every day language in some countries so to quote Baby Herman in the film WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT (Luis Suarez) "Something stinks like yesterday's diaper"

KernowRed {Ed002's Note - I can only assume that you have not read the report. Are you aware that the FA did not even write the report?}

Can we all buy those T shirts the team wore the other day? Show some solidarity with the lad!

Be interesting next time Evra comes to Anfield as well!

Iggypop

And the two linguistics expert were from...yeh you guessed it ....Manchester University !

Whether they wrote the report or not they still would have read through it, and that line is an assumption to beef up the severity of the punishment which was to be dished out by the FA, how does anyone know that the FA didn't give guidance to the writing up of this report in light of Mr Blatter's faux pas and wanted the "Rest of the World" to believe we as a nation are against racism, which most of us are - or to be more truthful we don't actually care who we work alongside as long as they are willing to work just as hard - You're right Ed002 I haven't read the report but are you really telling me that the FA had no hand in producing the 115 pages of anti Suarez material.

KernowRed {Ed002's Note - The FA were given the report at the same time as Liverpool. They had zero involvement in it being produced. The report, findings and punishment were decided upon by an independent panel.}

I bow to your superior knowledge ED002, but I still believe there is more to this than we will ever find out, what ever the motives for banning him.
KernowRed {Ed002's Note - You could take that thought to the conspiracy theory page. The report clearly states the resons for the ban and the responses to each of the mitigating factors raised by Suarez' council.}

Hi eds, who would you say is more likely to sign in the Summer, Gaston Ramirez or Mesut Ozil? Cheers {Ed001's Note - tough one. Impossible to give any real input other than a guess at this juncture, but I would say Ramirez, simply because almost every team would want Ozil.}

01 Jan 2012 01:52:14
Hi eds, do you think Suarez maybe more tempted to leave Liverpool with all these allegations going on and with him not being a big hit with everyone apart from LFC fans.
With the rumored interest from Barca why wouldn't he want to? After all, we're not even in the CL? :/
I'm not trying to be negative but what are your thoughts? After all this is a possibility if things keep going as they are.. Cheers {Ed001's Note - right now I have not heard of any suggestion he is looking to leave, but there is a fear that he will.}

Ed001 is it just the fans that fear that he will leave or the club as well?
wildwelshman {Ed001's Note - it was not the fans I was referring to, though I am sure some of those do too, it was employees of the club.}

01 Jan 2012 01:46:06
Not too fussed on the Suarez ban to be honest. We easily have the fire power in all areas to score enough without him.

I'm also surprisingly happy with the fact Kuyt is likely to leave. No doubt a quality and loyal servant to LFC but never the striker or RM we needed, particularly now.

While I'm not convinced that we necessarily need more signings, apart from a talented attacking mid to eventually replace Gerrard, the Ideal realistic signings would be Soldado and Luuk de Jong, lots of fire power, potential and creativity with these players and would leave us wit the following -

Reina
Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique
Lucas Gerrard
Luuk Soldado Suarez
Carroll

With Kelly, Coates, Adam, Henderson, Maxi, Bellamy etc this is a quality team that i'm sure would challenge for the top - and with fire power and quality on the bench we have a great squad.

We also have quality players in the youth systems.

Loving Liverpool at the moment, only wish we could sign Bale!

J

Re Bale.
Somebody suggested him a couple of years back and got a load of abuse about him not being good enough ---how wrong they were.
Tafred

No offence Tafred, but I still wouldn't want him now, yeah he's fast and got a good cross and shot but I feel that he's playing in a Spurs team that is already overrated. Not to mention that he's injury prone and doesn't like the city. Personally I'd rather have Ramirez

Also I think that team J suggested would be amazing, but interesting if we bought both of them, that Carroll would play over Charlie/Hendo and not push Soldado up top. De jong has potential but I think we have numerous targets that could play the wide attacking midfielder/forward and we also currently have Downing who could play there.

Would Love Bale now he is quality. Looking forward to where we will be at the start of next season, particularly if we get top 4

J

Hi eds, when do you think Xabi Alonso will come back? He promised the fans saying he would defoo come back, do you think he'll come back in his playing career? Or come back to manage or coach? Cheers {Ed002's Note - I would not be so sure he will be playing at Anfield again but he shows how important the club is to him by returning for games.}

He might play in anfield again if we qualify for the champions league but I would prefer him on our team instead of madrids team

Zincho

Just read through the saurez report and can't understand how they can say evra's more realiabe, maybe he's just a better bulls**ter.

The questions that were asked we're ridiculous, the part about where saurez pinched evra's armed they felt it was done to stir evra's up even the saurez said it was not. How can they not believe him unless they can read minds.

To me the hole desision was made from quess work and asumptions . Unreal

Its reasonable doubt, we need to put this issue to bed and move on. Instead keeping it in the public and media eye, all the best.

KNEE JERK

Sorry knee jerk it wasnt reasonable doubt, the judgement was given by balance of probability. basicaly he didnt definately say it in a racist manner but probably. which isnt strong enough evidence in a court of law to be found guilty.

Yes but in hearing such as this that is all that is needed im afraid. Reasonable doubt, it not a court of law.

hi ed as its now 2012 what was your highlight of 2011 lfc related.or are there several.also i would like it if u could outline the criteria of any new signing as in low wages age etc so i and others know what the king is looking for.much appreciated and happy new year.DORSET RED {Ed001's Note - my highlight has to be the return of the King. There is nothing that can compare to that high after the absolute low of the Hodgson era. What about you? And everyone else for that matter?
The main criteria of any signing is a desire to play for us. Our wage policy is strict, we pay much less than the other clubs around us, so that desire is crucial.}

I would say the same the return of the king.just the smiles on faces of the fans and i now have so much faith in the king.im loving the footy again.thats what i thought on the criteria so many people slate our signings but they all want to play for us.who saw henderson choose us over utd.how many of the players are paid over 100k then ed.just gerrard?DORSET RED {Ed001's Note - I think so, at least I can't think of anyone else paid quite that much off the top of my head. Johnson is close.}

I take it if we were to sign the likes of de jong and sissoko they would be on less than say 80k.johnson needs togo frustrated me yesterday.i want to see kelly.DORSET RED {Ed001's Note - yes mate, we will not bring them in on high wages, we are not going to return to the days of players joining for money.}

Return of the king

Same as 001 - KK's return. Gave me a massive lift when I thought we were sinking, great feeling.

Eds now that the transfer window is open what's the chances of signing Aquero!

dmedly :-)

Happy New Year! {Ed002's Note - Have a great year. And that's everyone. May even wipe the slate clean for a few if they promise to be good.}

Who's Aquero?

I may forgive you too Ed :o)
Happy New Year.

The only benefits of the Suarez ban is that it might make kenny try harder in signing a gud player/s or a big signing. Also maybe helps team to gel as others wud step up.
Plus maybe sum rest for luis after a lot of footy.
F5

Try harder???????

01 Jan 2012 00:11:23
Ed, Just found out if we accepted Luis's ban now, He would only be banned for 4 PL games and be back, for the game against United at OT. The immediate ban would take in the Carling Cup games and Oldham game, if we we beat Oldham it would carry onto the next FA cup game.

If true mate, I think we should accept it after the City match. And get a striker (hopefully 2) in this window. What would you do? Thanks.

Happy New Year to Ed's and fellow Reds, but IF you believe the Mayan's, then the world is going to end this year. That would be just our luck, get to 3/4th in the PL and a f*cking Asteroid hits. That could set us back a bit and we can rip our summer transfer plans up right now.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Ps. Lets hope the Mayan's were wrong, fingers crossed. {Ed001's Note - personally I would just take the ban and get on with it.}

I agree Ed001. Just take the ban and get on with it. He shouldn't have said what he said. End of. RED LENIN

Aslong as he is ready for the United game, I don't mind. He now has even more of a reason to tear them up and show up Evras recent lack of ability

Sorry but what do you mean Blair? {Ed002's Note - If the ban were accepted now it would be for 8 first team games, be they in the FA Cup League Cup or EPL.}
